The skins on my toes are turning black. The doctor says if I stay in this trench for more than 2
days I will have to cut off my feet. It scares me that I might have to have my feet amputated but I

Making Rule Changes For The Safety Of Our Athletes
As Commissioner of the National Quidditch League, I have come to the conclusion to make rule
changes to insure the safety of our athletes. The NQL is one of the country s most popular and
highest revenue leagues. We have a duty to uphold ethical standards to set a good example for our
young fans. In conversations with doctors, players, owners, and some fans, the leagueoffice has
decided to enact some new policy changes. The most important policy changes enacted are that all
players must now where helmets, a new concussionprotocol, and players who intentionally target
opposing players will be at risk for fines and suspension. Some may feel that the character of the
game is being threatened by these new rule changes. However, the safety of our athletes is much
more important. We are confident that these new changes will further demonstrate why the NQL is
one of our country s most popular leagues. Lastly, as a league we can no longer claim to display
integrity if allow the head injuries to continue.
The league office has taken various factors into account, as we considered enacting rule changes
designed to reduce head injuries. First and foremost, we engaged in dialogue about whether any

In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the introduction of
Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been fascinated by language. Then, and
now, this still seems like an understatement to me. Language is an incredible facet to me and
humans of all ages. To consider that an infant can communicate with few words and more gestures
and then continue to develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such
an interesting phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This influence
permeates throughout language in formal or informal use. In that same lesson, I recall the
