Reflection Paper On Slime
On a summer afternoon, as I make my way up to Ling s house, I was full of
excitement because I knew, as I get there, my boredom will be extinguished! If you
read this, just know that you are in for a long ride of reading what I did at Ling s
house! Ling and I were making satisfying videos of slime, we were making
fascinating slime. Plus, we were talking about Minecraft and school too! Ling got
her iPad and all of her crunchy slime plus she went to the video app so we could
make satisfying slime videos. Ling and I wanted to make a satisfying slime video
with the crunchy purple slime first, so we did. At first, when we recorded the
crunchy purple slime, it was not loud enough to be in a satisfying slime ASMR
Youtube video, so we tried to poke the slime harder while we recorded the slime.
(ASMR is Autonomous sensory meridian response, which means a tingling
sensation on the skin.) Additionally, we poked the slime so the slime would look
satisfying to watch. If you want to know how to poke slime to make it look
satisfying for your satisfying video, you would need to poke it with 2, 3, or 4
fingers like how Ling and I did the poking. Ling and I wanted to do something fun
but it was hard to visualize of something fun to do, it was making slime! The
hardest thing to think about was what kind of slime Ling and I wanted to make. We
were thinking about all of the types of slimes Ling doesn t have. Finally! Ling
thought of a slime to make, crunchy clear slime! As people can

The Basic Design Of An Exercise Prescription
Exercise Prescription The basic design of an exercise prescription should be based
on a person s age, fitness level, and health status including mental and physical
health as well as the goals they are looking to acheive. Once the assessment is
complete this is used to help determine how to develop the exerciseprogram specific
to that individual. The American College of Sports Medicine (2014) s FITT
principle is a good way to start the development process for any individual and
should be the foundation of the exercise program. This principle includes four basic
components to be followed including: frequency, intensity, timing, and type of
exercises to be used. Appropriately applying these to an exercise program will help
meet the individual goals of each client. Frequency of Exercise
Determining how often an exercise session from a particular program should be
performed is important and will help with gaining the benefits and results wanted.
Too many or too few sessions in a week may have opposite, negative, or no effects
on any individual. The frequency of exercising should be considered at an
individual level and where a certain client s motivation may be at with their
willingness to start a program. However, a good place to start is with a frequency of
2 3 times per week. This can optimize the beneficial results someone with
osteoporosis is looking for. Kemmler Stengel (2014) performed an extensive 12 year
cohort study observing the effects of exercise
Discussion Of Sin And Paul s Letter To Christianity
Introduction
The concept of sin is an age old dispute, as evidence of this can be seen through the
various religious traditions and wrongdoings of generations past, including adultery,
witchcraft and murder. Sin continues to be a controversial topic in today s modern
age, as many religious adherents aim to live their lives free of this to ascend into a
peaceful afterlife. As taught by Jesus through the parable, and Mohammed through
example and preaching, both the Christian and Islamic concept of major sin is to go
against your god, representing the idea that one who speaks against their lord will
not be granted forgiveness and an afterlife. However these religions differ in the
sense Jesus is shown as removing adherents sin, whereas Islam ... Show more content

In this modern age however there are more temptations of sin (alcohol, drugs and
adultery more prevalent) and a resultant reduced emphasis on religious
righteousness. This reduced social pressure to live a sin free life has allowed for a
more unconditional interpretation of forgiveness, hence panting God in a more
merciful light. Moreover, the Quran and Bible give believers guidelines to live their
life by, so they may gain this afterlife. Although parables should not be taken literally,
and stories could be altered through translation errors, the main discourse is still

Heaney s Childhood Memories in Poems Mid Term Break and Follower Seamus
Heaney is an established Irish poet who was born on April 13th 1939. He was the
oldest of nine children and was brought up on a remote farm in County
Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He has a lot of typically Irish memories which he
includes in his poems. The three main memories that he brings up in the two poems
Mid Term Break and Follower are the death of his brother Christopher, farm life and
breaking the family tradition. At 18, Heaney left his small village to pursue his
English career, unaware of just how talented a poet he was. It wasn t until he

Heaney is able to do this by not showing any emotion at all from himself, but from
other people s reactions to the circumstances. Heaney actually wrote this poem 13
years after the incident, so it is clear this has deeply affected him emotionally.
There are many people in Mid Term Break . Each of these people is significant.
Heaney is the most important, because the poem is describing his memory.
However, because Heaney is writing as an observational poet, without the other
characters emotions, the poem would be bland and without feeling. In the first
stanza, you find out that it is written in the first person narrative and the persona is
most likely to be Heaney himself. It begins in the college sick bay, where Heaney
has been waiting all morning, not knowing why. At this point, Heaney could be
feeling bored, isolated and lonely. It would give him time to analyse the situation,
and think why he had been sent there. The poem suggests he was there for a long
time by using phrases like: I sat all morning.... and Counting bells knelling classes
to a close. The first phrase used obviously referred to how long he had been there,
but the second was a little harder to fathom. If he was counting bells knelling classes
, this would mean several classes have already started. Due to the large time gap

Development Of A Service Innovation
Introduction:
The aim of the report is to discuss the development of a service innovation in a
hospital care setting.
Therefore the innovation being introduced in the report will focus on the pain
management tool for assessing chronic conditions in service users with dementia in
hospital settings. As pain is a very subjective experience it is important that the tool is
specifically based on the individual s own way of expressing and communicating their
pain in relation to their chronic conditions.
The first section of this report will review and evaluate a body of evidence to support
the development of the pain management tool by looking at the subject of the change
management proposal, the relevant stake holders and the change agent to support the
change. Secondly the report will focus on theories and strategies to management of
change by using change management model and explaining the process of it. Thirdly
the issues and experience of being a team member in the development of the service
improvement proposal will be reflected and also explore the dynamics of the team.
Lastly for the transition from student nurse to registered nurse, based on the findings
from the evaluation of personal performance further development will be discussed
identifying the leadership skills needed and design an action plan which includes
outcomes and how these outcomes will be measured.
The aim of the change is to:
Identify and recognise pain for dementia patients with chronic
Curl Pattern Vs. Hair Texture
Knowing Your Hair Type: Curl Pattern Vs Hair Texture, What s the Difference? As a

life altering decisions. I know this all sounds very dramatic, and for some it is. So,

Ernest Hemingway wrote this short story in a simple way which included only the
essential information with few use of adverbs and adjectives. Short and direct
dialogue and inner monologue is used as shown in the excerpt above. Ernest
Hemingway often use pronoun without clear explanations. For example, the word it

sitting at the bar and watching the three character conversation and action. Start
from the first paragraph of the excerpt above, the point of view of the story change

himself. The technique of Stream of Consciousness is used to dramatise the
consciousness and thoughts of the older and lonely waiter who is under

Describe how Bacteria decode its genetic information to produce proteins?

Bacteria belongs to a group of organism that lacks cell nucleus and membrane

follows the central dogma of molecular biology first proposed by Francis Crick in
1958 to synthesize proteins from mRNA through a process called translation and the
mRNA is being synthesized from the DNA by another process called Transcription.
Temperature, nutrient availibity are some key factors that start the process of

Protein folding
The amino acid sequences derived from decoding the mRNA determines a protein s
final conformation, helper proteins aid the newly formed polypeptide with its folding
to achieve a proper functional shape. These molecular chaperones are essential as the
cytoplasm is often filled with new polypeptide chains and thus these accumulation of
polypeptide chain might accumulate together and fold into a non function shape.
Example of well studied chaperones from E.Coli are DnaK, DnaJ, GroEL and GroES.

Heart Disease, The Leading Cause Of Disease
Heart Disease is a disease that affects the heart s functions and is incurable. There
are several types of Heart Disease including Coronary Artery Disease,
Cardiomyopathy, Arrhythmia, and Coronary Valve Disease. Heart Disease begins
with inflammation and irritation of the inner lining of the coronary arteries and over
time, cholesterol in the bloodstream can collect in the inflamed areas and begin the
formation of a plaque (Werdo, n.d.). This plaque grows and as it does, the diameter
of the arterynarrows decreasing blood flow enough to potentially cause the symptoms
of angina (Werdo, n.d.). Being labeled the leading cause for death in both men and
women, heartdisease will be the cause of death in one in four people (CDC, 20115).
Heart diseaseis also the leading cause of death in ethnic people to include African
Americans, Hispanics, and Native American in the United State (CDC, 2015).
There are several risk factors for Heart Disease such as family history and
increased age of a person. Other risk factors that increase the potential to develop
plaque within coronary arteries and cause them to narrow are smoking, obesity,
high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and family history of heart
problems, especially heart attacks and strokes (Werdo, n.d.). Once a person begins
to exhibit symptoms of heart disease they will need to contact a physician for testing
and possible diagnosis. A medical doctor may perform several test to diagnose a
patient with Heart Disease
Work For My Father s Electric Company Essay
This previous summer I was graced with the opportunity to work for my father s
electric company. The job entailed driving a thirteen foot tall box truck with a
coworker to Umpqua banks in Oregon and Washington that had relocated or closed
down and decommissioning them by removing all technology equipment. That
includes: computers, cash counters, printers, telephones, and anything that uses
electricity. We would take every piece of technology and catalog them into an excel
sheet with their serial and model numbers. Most the trips we went on to
decommission the banks would entail us having to spend the night in hotels. I made
$12.50 per hour, a generous raise from making minimum wageat my previous jobs.
The first trip I was sent on was with Jon, a heavyset man with a buzz cut. Not long
after we left the company shop for Medford, we took a pit stop at his house so he
could change out of jeans into shorts for the drive. He told me the boss, my dad, didn t
like to see his guys working in the field wearing anything but jeans, but assured me
we wouldn t see any customers that day. I drove us to the first bank in Medford.
The bank was desolate; everything was there except the people. I walked around
and stood in the teller booths, found the silent emergency buttons, and walked inside
the vault. Jon and I devised a system; he placed technology on the cart, and I
scanned it into the computer. Jon also took over the banks speakers and was the DJ.
I enjoyed working with Jon and the
Symbolism Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Symbolism in Sir Gawain The Green Knight Sir Gawain The Green Knight is a
classic medieval poem about a chivalrous knight on a journey to the Green Chapel.
King Arthur s nephew, Sir Gawain has been challenged by the Green Knight in a
beheading game, where he has agreed to exchange a blow in the head towards the
Green Knight, to be returned to him the following New Years in journeying to the
Green Chapel. Gawain has to battle whether his knightly virtues are more
important than his own life when faced with different trials her encounters.
Everything is not what it appears to be, knowing symbols is a critical part to
understanding the meaning of the poem. Understanding the symbolism behind the
Christian and Green Chapel adds to the overall understanding of the medieval
poem. A general definition of a chapel is a small building for Christian worship,
typically one attached to an institution or private house . The origin of the word
chapel comes from the medieval Latin word capella and the Old French word
chapele , having the meaning of hooded cloak (Alchin). The meaning behind this
comes from a cloak, which belonged to St Martin, being kept as a holy relic and
the name of the room becoming known as the chapel (Alchin). A chapel is seen in
Arthur s Castle in Camelot, The Lord s Castle and the Green Chapel. In the text,
specifically the two chapels attached to the Castle s would be more in the realm of a
Christian Chapel. In the Medieval era, a castle would

The Origin Of Moral Sense By Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin is famous for his theories regarding evolution and natural selection.
In his 1871 book, Charles Darwin explains the origin of morality through studying
the behavior of various species. In his essay, Origin of the Moral Sense Charles
Darwin uses his theory of evolution to explain the origin of moralitythrough the study
of animals, specifically mammals. Darwin s main theory of the Origin of the Moral
Sense is that humans have natural social instincts which in turn gives them a sense of
naturally occurring morality. Darwin s ideas surrounding morality and a natural
social instinct have been echoed and added to by philosophers, almost a century
later, David Barash and Robert Trivers.
In his essay, the Origin of Moral Sense Charles Darwin explains the origin of morality
and its relation to evolution. Darwin argues, that like animals, humans are
descendants of natural selection. Darwin argues that not only our (meaning humans
and animals) mental capacity evolved, so did our own moral sense. Darwin s first
point in the Origin of Moral Sense is that ethics occurs naturally amongst animals.
Darwin believes that animals have a sense of sympathy and need to do the right
thing ingrained in them. Although Darwin believes it is instinctual to do good , it
does not apply to the same species, only species of the same kind.
Darwin s second point argues that past actions that are good will be ingrained within
ourselves, so we will repeat the same action again. Darwin
Ptolemy s Argument Essay
The motion of Earth is a complicated idea to grasp. Its motion can t be seen with the
naked eye or felt in the way we feel motion from day to day. This, in conjunction
with Aristotle s philosophical world view built on shaky logic and a lack of
technology meant that the debate over the motion of the Earthlasted well into the
19th century. Galileo was able to chip away at some of the arguments using
empirical data. However, the philosophical worldview was able to be adjusted to
account for his discoveries. One of the most basic arguments for a stationary Earth
was developed by Aristotle. Humans can perceive motion through the wind on our
faces, the scenery passing by, and other factors. However, since the motion of the
Earth is not observable in the same way other motion is, Aristotle determined that
the Earth was stationary. This among many of his other ideas were used to build a
world view that was in place for thousands of years. Ptolemy built on Aristotle s
ideas with his conclusions regarding the dynamics of an object thrown in the air or
dropped from a tower. Ptolemy notes that when an object is dropped from a height,
it falls perpendicular to the ground (DeWitt P. 92). By Ptolemy s logic, if the Earth
was moving, the object would fall behind the initial position; since... Show more

This describes the theory that if the Earth is rotating about its axis or orbiting the
Sun, the stars should appear to move relative to the Earth s position in its orbit.
Ptolemy acknowledges that stellar parallax should be observed if the Earth is
moving, but since it is not observed he concludes that the Earth is not moving
(DeWitt P. 94). This was a damning conclusion, because stellar parallax was not
observed until 1838 (DeWitt P. 96). The crux in Ptolemy s conclusion is that he
believes the stars are much closer than they are which should have allowed him to
observe the
Antibiotics Resistance
Antibiotics are powerful very frequently used potential drugs in fighting bacterial
infections worldwide, [1]. These agents saved millions of lives in the past fifty years
in both hospital based and outpatient settings. Inadequate measures to control the
spreading of infections, overprescribing as well as inappropriate selection and
dosing of antibiotics by healthcare providers, unfettered access to antimicrobials by
public, failure to adhere to clinically desired treatment regimens are some of the
driving force to spread of antibiotics resistance, [2]. In addition, lack of regulations to
promote the rational use of antibiotics in humans, infection prevention and control are
some of the other factors that lead to emergence of resistance to antibiotics, [3].
In under developing and low middle income countries (LMIC), inadequate regulations
and high levels of availability of antibiotics without prescription have led to higher
incidence of inappropriate use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, counterfeit or substandard medications including antibiotics have been
identified in many resource limited regions, particularly in sub Saharan Africa, [5,6].
Health systems in poor countries often cannot offer the most optimal therapies
required to appropriately deliver rational antimicrobial medicines, [6]. Ringertz et al
study highlighted that prophylactic and irrational antibiotics use were exacerbating
resistance in Ethiopian hospitals, [7]. There is a correlation between antibiotic use and
subsequent resistance [7].The inappropriate prescribing including lack of education
and training for health professional are wide common in low resource countries, [8].
It the influence of antibiotic usage behavior of individuals are influenced beyond
their knowledge by their cultural preferences, beliefs and by the health administration

Multi Tasking Persuasive Essay
The Effects of Multi Tasking
Most students have a hard time handling their time wisely. If you are like most
students, your workspace looks something like this: A cluttered room piled high
with papers, textbooks, and binders. You likely have a television, a cell phone, an
Mp3 player, a laptop, a video game console (or two), and a DVD player. You re
playing music, have the TV on, and are surfing the internet with your textbook
perched on your lap. There s probably an open bag of chips and a soda within arm s
reach.
This might seem like the ultimate in convenience, but the sheer volume of choices
and forms of mental stimulation can wreak havoc with your ability to focus on
important tasks, such as writing your college essays. In the age of ... Show more

Although interruptions have been shown in aviation and other work settings to result
in error with serious and sometimes fatal consequences, little is known about
interruptions in the emergency department (ED). The authors conducted an
observational, time motion task analysis study to determine the number and types of
interruptions in the ED. Methods: Emergency physicians were observed in three EDs
located in an urban teaching hospital, a suburban private teaching hospital, and a
rural community hospital. A single investigator followed emergency staff
physicians for 180 minute periods and recorded tasks, interruptions, and breaks in
task. An interruption was defined as any event that briefly required the attention of
the subject but did not result in switching to a new task. A break in task was
defined as an event that required the attention of the physician for more than 10
seconds and subsequently resulted in changing tasks. Results: The mean (В±SD)
total number of patients seen at all three sites during the 180 minute study period
was 12.1 В± 3.7 patients (range 5 20). Physicians performed a mean of 67.6 В±

Hardwood Floor Research Paper
A Hardwood floor installation is possibly the wisest investment that an individual
could do to their house. A hardwood floor can contribute to one s home decor and
generally make the home more presentable to visitors. Unfortunately preparing for,
installing, and finishing a hardwood floor is usually an undertaking that a
professional should do. However, if you feel you are up to the task here are some
steps to help you understand the process.
1. Gather together the needed tools and materials.
One pitfall that people seem to get into is when they do not entirely have the right
tools for the project. Moreover, this is one installation project that will basically
demand the right tools or there will be areas where the finished example will not ...

This means that the wood will expand or contract based on the amount of moisture
in the wood. The wood is acclimated by opening and spreading out the wood. If this
step proves problematic, consider using engineered word because it does not
require an acclimating process. 4. Roll out the wood. Make certain that the first
row of the wood is as straight as it can be. The reason is because everything that
you lay after this point will be based on the straight roll of wood. A straight
beginning wood will make your future rolls to be very tidy looking. On the other
hand, if the wood is clumsily laid it will impact the remainder of your hardwood.5.
Lay the wood. This important step is usually accomplished by Top nailing and
gluing the boards. A word to the wise: there will be scenarios where sometimes the
nailing gun will be able to make it in the crannies of your home. One way to combat
this is to use scrap boards for these areas. 6. Finish the wood. This is perhaps the
most important step in wood flooring enterprise and is not a place to cut corners on.
First of all, begin to cut boards lengthwise so they will fit. Second, cut your contours
according to your instruction manual. Third, make sure that you remove any spacers,
and finally attach trim and
Analysis Of Wonders Of The Invisible World By Cotton
Mather
The short story, Wonders of the Invisible World by Cotton Mather, tells of how the
devil is working around Boston. He tells this story from his own perspective in
which he believes the devil is working in secret, and through the youth. One of the
trials used as an example was Martha Carrier who was found guilty based on the
information collected by Cotton Mather. Nathaniel Hawthorne, writer of the famous
Scarlet Letter , writes a short story from the narrator s perspective, and how he visits
his friend called Oberon. Oberon believes that the devil is residing within his writing
and insists to the narrator that he must burn the manuscript to cast the devil out. The
evidence that leads Oberon to believe that the devil is in his writing draws from
publishers refusing to accept his work. In Wonders of the Invisible World
, Mather
suggests the devil resides in people who collect in hellish meetings where they
discuss how to destroy the kingdom on out lord Jesus Christ. He uses Martha
Carrier as an example of someone who is possessed by the devil and seeks to
corrupt others and do harm to those who follow God. He provides evidence by
bringing witnesses to Carrier s torment, including her children. How the devil is
portrayed in The Devil in the Manuscript is more figurative rather than literal.
Oberon believes the devil possessed his writing because no one wants to publish
what he wrote. This is likely less literal than what Cotton Mather means, and is
likely attributed from his ego and belief that his writing is too great to be his fault.
The portrayal of the devil within the Wonders of the Invisible World is literal, and is
inspired through fear and incredibly strict devotion to one religion. Cotton Mather
believes the devil is literally possessing people and using those he possesses to
corrupt others. He uses Martha Carrier as an example of how the devil will do this by
bringing in her children to the trial. The children confessed on trial that not only that
they were witches themselves, but that their mother had made them so. This helped
strengthen Mather s argument that the devil is working through people to corrupt
others. The children s confession also helped give support to Mather s theory
Pierre De Fermat Essay
Pierre de Fermat Pierre de Fermat was born in the year 1601 in Beaumont de
Lomages, France. Mr. Fermat s education began in 1631. He was home schooled.
Mr. Fermat was a single man through his life. Pierre de Fermat, like many
mathematicians of the early 17th century, found solutions to the four major
problems that created a form of math called calculus. Before Sir Isaac Newton was
even born, Fermat found a method for finding the tangent to a curve. He tried
different ways in math to improve the system. This was his occupation. Mr. Fermat
was a good scholar, and amused himself by restoring the work of Apollonius on
plane loci. Mr. Fermat published only a few papers in his lifetimeand gave no
systematic exposition of his methods. He had a... Show more content on

Fermat s proof is as follows. Let n be prime, and suppose it is equal to x2 y2 that is,
to (x+y)(x y). Now, by hypothesis, the only basic, integral factors of n and n and
unity, hence x+y=n and x y=1. Solving these equations we get x=1 /2 (n+1) and
y=1 /2(n 1). He gave a proof of the statement made by Diophantus that the sum of
the squares of two numbers cannot be the form of 4n 1. He added a corollary which I
take to mean that it is impossible that the product of a square and a prime form 4n
1[even if multiplied by a number that is prime to the latter], can be either a square or
the sum of two squares. For example, 44 is a multiple of 11(which is of the form 4 x
3 1) by 4, therefore it cannot be expressed as the sum of two squares. He also stated
that a number of the form a2 +b2, where a is prime b, cannot be divided by a prime
of the form 4n 1. Every prime of the form 4n+1 is accurate as the sum of two
squares. This problem was first solved by Euler, who showed that a number of the
form 2(4n+1) can be always showen as the sum of two squares, of course it was
Mr. Pierre de Fermat. If a, b, c, are integers, a2 + b2= c2, then ab cannot be a
square. Lagrange solved this. The determination of a number x such that x2n+1 may

solution of this also. There is only one integral solution of the equation x2 +4=y3.

killed, and traumatised from the fight between terrorists and governments over
nuclear power. However this threat is not as big as it seems, in fact it s a much
smaller issue than most people assume it is. The U.S. Government should not spend

reading of radiation coming from a wooden box, but this was not a bomb. The
Radiation had come naturally from the soil, and they never found an actual bomb.
This goes to show, their technology is inaccurate and not powerful enough to detect
an actual bomb. After a field exercise called Mirage Gold, designed to allow the
FBI, NEST, and various other teams to test their skill in locating a nuclear bomb,
A comment in the Nevada Operations Office report notes that it would be a drastic
mistake to assume that NEST technology and procedures will always succeed,
resulting in zero nuclear yield. Even with pre warning it can be difficult to find a
nuclear bomb, and oftentimes there isn t even a bomb. Most of the NEST
deployments only had at most 45 people out of the about 600 available, which
shows that things aren t as dangerous as they re blown up to be. If these terrorists
were truly dangerous, we d be using far more resources than we have. So why
bother at all? Instead of searching for bombs built by nuclear terrorism, we should
spend our time and money and

growth followed after the bank changed its leadership and ownership in 1995.
Under the leadership of a seasoned management team and CEO, Monte Hulse, the
bank expanded rapidly, from a single branch to multiple branches in the area.
FNBCT acquired multiple branch locations along its rapid expansion periods, and
by the end of 2010 and early 2011, FNBCT amounted a net asset size of $700
million, with only five banking centers. The five branches are located in Waco,

These two stories are very different upon first glance. For example one is about a

named Larry who thinks he s a lot wiser then he is. However, if you look deeper you
can start to find similarities between the two. They have similar themes, and links can
be made between them.
A big difference between them is the titles. For example The Half
Brothers is a very self evident title but My Oedipus Complex is a little more obscure.
My Oedipus Complex is ironic because although
Larry does have a strong attachment to his mother it is an exaggeration to call it an ...

For example in The Half
Brothers William Preston begs God for forgiveness after realising how wrongly he
had treated Gregory and in My Oedipus Complex Larry and his father forgive each
other because they are in the same situation at the end of the story. Using the theme
of forgiveness in stories that also have the theme of jealousy makes the reader feel
that everything must come to an end whether it is good or bad because forgiveness
is an end to jealousy and also to both stories.
There is also a less obvious theme in the stories of religion. For example we heard
mass at St Augustine s and said a prayer for father in My Oedipus Complex and God
s will be done in The Half
Brothers . This use of religion in the stories sets the period as nowadays most people
are not very religious. It shows that in the past
God was very important to the average person and had a big influence on their lives
and the decisions they made.
Reasons for some of the differences between the stories may be because they were
written and set in very different periods. For example The
Half Brothers was set in Victorian times when it was also written but
My Oedipus Complex was set just after the First World War but written much later
then that. This makes the authors present the themes in very different ways. Frank O
Connor is more light hearted in his presentation of jealousy whereas Elizabeth Gaskell
is definitely more morbid and

Childhood is an interesting time in a child s life. It is a time for children to grow,
learn, and mature so they are set up for success in adulthood. A child s brain
develops through multiple aspects in their lives such as the television, picture
books, and games. Television is a way for children to develop in their age range,
because the shows are aimed to help them at the stage their brain is at in
development. Piaget concluded that there were four different stages in the cognitive
development of children (Edward, Hopgood, Rosenberg, Rush). It brings to question

Parents are also able to help with conditioning their child to become an acceptable
human being. This comes into play with the learning theory behaviorism which
consists of operant conditioning. Responses that we reward, or reinforce, will be
learned. Responses that are not reinforced go away or are extinguished (Belsky,
2010). For instance when a child is acting out you use a punishment, but if they are
behaving the way the parents wants them to they reinforce that action. By doing
this a child will have the skills to mature into a young adult and later into a grown
adult and function in the real life. A parent is a key part in helping a child develop
into the person they become later on in life. During this stage that Piaget describes
they still cannot see other people s points of view and think everyone sees from
their perspective. This can be important to know when dealing with a child in the
age range so you can know how to talk to them or relate to them. Piaget uses an
interesting method of using children s books to help see the development of a child.
He realized that we like stories with human characters, or animal characters with
decidedly human characteristics, that display a wide range of physical, cognitive, and
socioemotional features (Hansen Zambo, 2005). Piaget s third stage of cognitive
developmental theory is the concrete operations stage which occurs during ages

IMPROVEMENTS TO HIGH FREQUENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM IN
SRI LANKA NAVY FOR BETTER PERFORMANCES
INTRODUCTION
1.The High Frequency (HF) radio band is defined as the range of frequencies in the
radio spectrum between 3 and 30 megahertz . Military organizations have used HF
radios for both strategic and tactical communications for more than 80 years.
However with the development of satellite communications (SatCom) use of HF
communication were de emphasized and fell in to disuse. In contrast to this
importance of HF communication still existing for military applications. The
militaries around the world must have a robust long range communication system
that does not rely on existing communication infrastructure in emergencies, since the
satellite comms and other comms infrastructure will present most lucrative targets for
the enemy.
2.At present Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) use VHF and UHF line of sigh (LOS) systems
for its tactical communications ranges up to 50Nm from transmitting (TX) stations,
beyond this range SLN is compelled to use satCom systems to contact its fleet at
sea. However this method is very expensive and voice call charges of satellite
comm are beyond 500.00 Rs per minute, besides all the ships and craft of SLN fleet
were not equipped with SatCom facilities. Furthermore the Inmarsat system which
SLN use to connect with her fleet is a commercial system which controlled by a
company this fact also raises security concerns.
3.SLN use two methods to meet this
Theme Of Satire In Lazarillo De Tormes
Lazarillo de Tormes is a famous work of Spanish literature published anonymously.
The novel is written in the first person. Lazarillo de Tormes is known as a
picaresque novel in that the novel is written about a character of the lower class
instead of a hero or upper class character. The novel has several themes, but the theme
that is constant throughout the novel is appearance versus reality. The author utilizes
several rhetorical devices in the novel which add emphasis to the story. The novel,
which was banned by the Spanish Crown during the time of the Spanish inquisition,
is the story of the birth and life Lazarillo de Tormesas he serves various masters and
his struggle for survival. His struggles are real. Many of the rhetorical devices
serve to add humor to the novel as well. The author uses satire to support the theme
of appearance versus reality. The definition of satire is an attempt to ridicule,
mock, or criticize something or someone with humorous content. Satire is a
rhetorical device that is used throughout the novel. The author uses humor in the
wake of misfortune. This is evident in the chapter where Lazarillo serves his first
master, a blind man. He treated Lazarillo horribly and also starved him. Lazarillo
learns many deceitful things from his master which will serve him well
throughout his life. Lazarillo s goal was to get away from the blind man. An
example of satire is the quote, What! You smelled the sausage and you couldn t
smell the post? Ole ? Ole ? I jeered (Albert, Michael 17). Lazarillo was making fun
of the blind man for being able to smell the difference in the sausage and rotten
turnips, but he did not smell the post that Lazarillo purposefully guided him into.
Lazarillo was set on getting away from his first master and this is the clever way
that Lazarillo gets away. He leaves without knowing the condition of his first
master. In the end, Lazarillo did manage to outwit the blind man. The author s
portrayal of the clergy can be considered satire as well. The clergy is portrayed very
negatively in the novel. The clergy is not noble, honest or Christ like which is what
people normally equate with a man that holds such a position. According to T.
Anthony Perry, there is a high

FEASIBILITY STUDY
Feasibility reports describe one or more design solutions to a specific problem and
determine if the proposed solution is practical and feasible. Preferably, more than one
solution is offered, in which case the report compares the various designs and
determines which option is best. Design and feasibility reports are essentially the
same type of document, differing only in the amount of emphasis placed on practical
and economic viability of the design in comparison with other possible solutions. A
design report, often very similar to an internal proposal, focuses on describing one
specific implementation. A feasibility study, on the other hand, also emphasizes the
investigation and comparison of alternative solutions. Design reports and feasibility
reports are crucial for decision making and product development in almost any
technical organization. They document an engineer s thinking through a solution to a
problem, a description of the solution, and the reasons why that solution should be
implemented. Managers need accurate and comprehensive feasibility and design
reports to decide where to commit scarce resources. In addition, an accurate and
comprehensive design report helps in developing other documents, such as formal
proposals, specifications, and work plans.

The Impact Of Smart Growth Regulations On Affordable

Every profession bears the responsibility to understand the circumstances that enable

In trying to find material and an understanding about the issues of sustainability,
smart growth and affordable housing I came across the preceding quote by Robert
Gutman author of Neighborhood, City, Metropolis: An Integrated Reader in Urban
Sociology , which I thought encapsulated my efforts in writing this paper. This paper
is not so much an attempt to make an argument for one aspect or another of the three
E s of sustainability, nor is it an attempt to argue about the effects of smart growth
regulations on affordable housing, but rather it is an effort to understand what these
key elements are and how they may or may not actually relate to each other. As such
this paper is a survey of sustainability, smart growth and affordable housing and how
regional governments may or may not impact the three issues, their relationship to
each other and their effective application.
Sustainable Development:
My knowledge prior to this class about sustainability was that it was an attempt or
effort to protect the environment from the encroachment of unchecked suburban
sprawl. My assumptions were that it was a product of the 1970s counter culture
hippie movement and a return back to nature. However, during the process of
studying this subject I have since come to learn that sustainability is much more than
just about the environment, but rather also about the economics
Replacement Cost Vs Actual Cash Value
Replacement Cost vs. Actual Cash Value
Homeowners insurance policies can either be insured for replacement cost or actual
cash value. At HomeFirst, every policy we write insures your home for the
replacement cost. We believe that you should be insured well enough that, if
something were to happen, your homeowners insurance will pay out enough to
compensate for the damage done.
What is the difference between Replacement Cost and Actual Cash Value (ACV)?
Replacement Cost is the cash amount needed to replace your home with what it
would cost in today s market, prior to the damage that is causing the claim to be filed.
The Actual Cash Value is the Replacement Cost minus the homes depreciation, or
decrease in value because of age, foundation,
The Major Causes Of Concussions In Sports
Concussions Many memories are made in sports, but sadly, some of the greatest
players cannot remember them. Concussions are temporary unconsciousness caused
by a blow to the head. The term is also used loosely of the aftereffects such as
confusion or temporary incapacity (dictionary definition). Athletes can usually can
recognize a mild concussionby seeing lights or hearing bells. Before concussions
were discovered it was known as getting your bell rung because they didn t know
what it was. Concussions are one of the most dangerous things that could happen to
the human head. Concussions can cause symptoms to last a long time, and people
could not know they have one. Concussions long result is Chronic traumatic
encephalopathy, also known at CTE. CTE can cause Alzheimer s, Parkinson s
disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as; ALS, anxiety, depression, and
even death. A concussion is a onetime event that can make a huge change to one s life.
Sports are the main cause of concussions, but someone can get a concussion
anytime and anywhere. You don t have to be tackled by a 350 pound lineman to
injure your brain, says Brent Masel, M.D., medical director of the Brain Injury
Association of America. (Beil) Parents are now trying to keep their children from
playing sports until they re eighteen. Some people think that forcing athletes to
stop playing sports will stop concussions. People should learn how to prevent and
how to take care of one, instead of not doing what they love. It is important to
understand what a concussion is and how we can determine the state of the
problem. Keeping children away from what they love to do isn t fair to them, even
though there is a higher risk for their child to suffer from a concussion, because
their brains are not fully developed yet. Kids should be able to live their dreams
and play whatever sport suits them. If they don t get to play as a child, how will
they know if they like the sport or can play it? They wouldn t have any experience
playing the sport, just watching the games on television or going to them. Sports are
not the only way someone can get a concussion. A child could fall off a bed, trip
over something, or get into a wreck and hit their head and
Monologue About Leaving A Baby
I love people but this money money won t leave me. This food won t leave me.
This bottle won t leave me. This pipe never let my side. Or my palm. This gin
keeps me so calm. When the shit hits my lips, I feel warm, and am I wrong to write
a song about my doubt in sobriety? My baby watches me quietly. I never meant to
hurt you. She never yells, she just sings...and sings...and sings. My baby girl is so
precious but her issues are relentless. How dare she say I ve had enough, fuck you
and your full cup. She ain t even had it rough. Ever go from Oakland Hills to
popping pills? Unpaid bills and shorted meals...well she had that but I got smacked.
Oh, what? I gave her a pat...and a cigarette burn or more...or four. Don t you walk

Years, tears, and energy wasted in return I get you just not my type. Oh man. Here
we go again. Goodbye Mr. Man. Insert drink in hand and drink away my plan. I ll

something I did? Hey wait, put down my kid! Never saw those scars she hid...guess
I made some when I peeled off this lid. I ll never hurt you again. And I won t hug

Changez Is An Unreliable Narrator In The Reluctant...
The narrator, Changez is unreliable, but it does not matter to Hamid unveils the
negative impact of racism. Before the narrator becomes an unreliable narrator, he
has accurate feels about America in a positive way. In the book, The Reluctant
Fundamentalist, Changez introduces himself I am a lover of America (Hamid 1). In
the beginning , Hamid shows that Changez loves America when he comes and there
is no racism to him. Therefore Changez starts to blame the American who has the
racism. According the book, after the September 11th attack, people cuss Changez on
the streets because he looks like Arab: Reluctantly, the first allowed himself to be
away. [ Fucking Arab ] he said (Hamid 117). At that time, Arab and United States

However, Changez is one of the people who has the American dream to succeed in
the United States. Therefore, the behavior of American makes him upset and angry.
Even though Changez acts as that he does not have any racism, it is not a true.
According to the book, when the first time that Changez meets the stranger, he
assumes he is American: ..you away; a European tourist could as easily have
purchased in Des Monies your suit, with its single vent, and tour button down shirt.
True, your hair, short cropped, and your expansive chest... are typical of a certain
type of American (Hamid 2) Although he has felt bad from the way that American
assumes the people by their outlook, he also does it,too. Though this, it shows the
unreliability of the narrator. However, in this paradoxical situation, Hamid strongly
against the way people treat by their race or how they look like by Changez s

1.1.1Schiff Base
The condensation product of primary amines with active carbonyl compounds have
resulted in the formation of Schiff base compound. This has been reported by Hugo
Schiff in 1864. Schiff base compound contain azomethine C≡N with a general
formula RHC=N R where R and R are alkyl, aryl, cyclo alkyl or heterocyclic groups
which may be variously substituted. These compounds are also known as anils,
imines or azomethines (Mishra N. et al, 2013). Structurally, a Schiff base is a
nitrogen analogue of an aldehyde or ketone in which the carbonyl group (C=O) has
been replaced by an imine or azomethine group (Figure 1.1) (Abu Dief M.A et al,
2015).

The development of new antibacterial agents with novel and more efficient
mechanisms of action is definitely an urgent medical need. Schiff bases have been
pointed to as promising antibacterial agents (Brodowska K. et al, 2014). With respect
to the biological activity and desirable physicochemical, stereochemical,
electrochemical, structural and catalytic properties of Schiff base metal complexes,
their values has attracted significant attention and is also relevant for their application
as tools for the analysis of pharmacological constituents (Ejidike P.I et al, 2015).
Chigurupati S. (2015) reported that considering the increased incidences of severe
opportunistic bacterial infections in immunological deficient patients together with
the development of resistance among pathogenic gram positive and gram negative
bacteria, there is a great need in finding new compounds that may be effective against
antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Summary of Mens Rea 1
What is the legal system talking about in reference to the phase mens rea? Let take a
look at the meaning and see exactly what is going on. If I am not mistaken here this
phase come from a Latin vocabulary meaning r guilty mind, the mental element (also
called criminal intent, evil mind, mental attitude, or state of mind ) is an ancient.
So what they are trying to say here is that there cannot really be a crime if there is no
evil state of mind to commit the crime. So are there any advantages or
disadvantages to the strict liability of a crime? I believe there is some type of
advantages and disadvantages involve here. Also when you are dealing with strict
liability it is so difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take this for example you are sitting in traffic at a red light and all of sudden this
person come out of nowhere and point a knife at you. What are your intention do you
run the light break the law and run it to save yourself from bodily harm or sit there
until it turn green.
Another advantage to this is it will protect the public from dangerous practices.
Most of the time a fine is the only thing given to the individual. The biggest
disadvantage to this whole ordeal is some believe they are unjust and unfair and
they stand no chance in a court of law if a conviction is handed down upon them.
Secondly I also filled that it is Unjust to convict a person of a crimes when they do
not intend to have any personal fault through a guilty mind.
In conclusion: A criminal act (actus reus) is necessary, but it s not enough for
criminal liability for most serious crimes. They include a mental element (mens rea).

St. Andrews And The Royal And Ancient Golf Course
The next day left the hotel and drove about 15 miles to St. Andrews and The Royal
and Ancient golf course. Compared to the all the other places where we stayed on
the trip, the hotel where we stayed just outside of St. Andrews could at best be
described as so so. It was sort of like an older motel in the USA, but it was clean
and reasonably comfortable and the dinner that night and breakfast the next morning
were good. Well, I should preface the latter comment and say I tried the Scottish
traditional breakfast of haggis , and I could not swallow the first bite. No one told
me it was made primarily with lamb, and I will not eat lamb under any circumstances.
After breakfast, we headed out to St. Andrews and the Royal and Ancient Club the
Mecca of golf. When we arrived at the clubhouse, we found out they were having a
board meeting that day and we would not be able to play on the Old course, but we
could go to the New course and not have any problem getting on at that course. The
first thing we had to do was rent some clubs because neither brought clubs on the
trip. So, we went to a small shop not far from the course and rented some clubs.
Playing golf in Scotland is a little different from playing golf in America. The
noticeable differences are the height of the rough and the depth of the sand bunkers.
The rough is almost knee high and sand traps and bunkers are about 6 or 7 feet deep
and reinforced with a brick retaining wall. Well, we got to the club, the
Mining Increases Countrys Revenues and Economy Essay
MINING
ICMM (International Council on mining and metals) has conducted ten case studies
of mining countries and with better methodology to have better understanding and
assessment, they found out that mining may contribute to national economies.
According to (ICMM, 2010) mining may help to reduce poverty and indirectly induce
employment. From mining too, it helps to increase government revenue to help
increase development of the country.
Mining project starts with mineral ore exploitation and ends with post closure period.
Generally, each phase of its activity is influenced and associated with different
environmental impacts. The first phase of mining is start with exploratory phase.
During this phase, surveys are made and that include ... Show more content on

Metallic ores contain elevated levels of metals but they generate very large quantities
waste called tailings. When active mining ceases, the mining sites are closed. This is
the last phase of mining activity, the post closure period. The objective of site
reclamation is that the site should be return to the pre mining conditions. The impacts
persist for decades or even centuries.
Perhaps the harmful effects of mining operations are due to mining technology and
techniques, which include enormous open pits in the ground. At a very beginning
of mining activities, the impacts have already started and the effects will last for
decades. Trees are cut down to build road in order for the large machineries to
access as shown in Appendix A. Deforestation occurs and this may lead to soil
erosion.
Before environmental laws and standards were adopted, most of the mining
company dumped tailings (wastes) in the nearest location. Extracting metals use
high demand of water and for water disposal. It pollutes fresh water and as a result
water is contaminated with harmful constituents such as mercury (Appendix B).
Example of former open pit mine is Butte, Montana known as the Berkeley pit
(Appendix B). It was closed in 1982 but the pit and its water present a serious
environmental issue. In 1995, there was a flock of snow geese landed in the pit and
a total of 342 carcasses were found and today, Berkeley pit consists with highly
contaminated water as stated by (Barbey, 2009).

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Essay
Cholelithiasis in patients with cirrhosis is two times more common as compared with
general population. Previously Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy was contraindicated in
cirrhotic patients, with the time and more expertise has replaced open

Over the years, with the more experience in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy has

It is well known that Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy patients had shorter hospital

While performing the laparoscopic cholecystectomy, special care should be taken in

The Main Causes Of Childhood Obesity
All over America childhood obesity has become a huge problem over the years
one out of three children are obese. Most people tend to induce their children by
giving them whatever they want and that s where obesity starts. Society should
work together to figure out a way to help child obesity. Childhood obesity should be
taken more seriously because of the negative effects it has on children, how parents
are unaware of their child being obese, and how poor eating habits for children have
become more prominent. Due to the negative effects childhood obesity has on
socially and mentally, it should be taken more seriously. Kids who are overweight
have a higher chance at getting picked on and having mental health issues (Lee).
Mental problems... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primary problem is that most people do not have a lot of time to prepare
healthy food so most choice to go out for fast food (Bishop). Almost fifty percent
of children eat fast food have a larger intake of meat, potatoes, and soda which in
turn they have a lower consumption of healthy food. Kids that eat fast food are
more likely to get obtain six extra pounds each year. The number of kids who eat
breakfast in the morning has been decreasing over the years especially for those
who have mothers who work outside of the home (Bishop). Kids who skip out on
breakfast could be a sign of a bad diet, which can contribute to weight gain. When
kids they have have decrease in energy so they will not be able to go about their
daily functions. Also when skipping breakfast the stomach tells the body it is
empty and one will then experience pangs of hunger. Research shows that kids do
not intake the necessary amount of nourishment needed, which alters the choice of
what kids drink and eat (Bishop). There is a strong relationship between the diet of
the parent and the diet of their kids. The bad habits of parents are taken in by the
kids and follows the bad choices of unhealthy foods that are in school. Eating
habits of family have became less personal like be in the old days, now families do
not have definitive meal times or eat together as a family. Most children eat in front
of the television not noticing what they are eating and it makes them take a longer
duration of time to feel
Andrew Shepard s Speech In The Film, The American
President
The climax of the movie, The American President , is President Andrew Shepard s
speech in front of the media at the White House. Shepard uses the speech to respond
to his opponent, Sen. Bob Rumson, for Rumson s attacks on the character of Shepard
s girlfriend, Sydney Ellen Wade, and concludes it by discussing two important pieces
of legislation. President Shepard uses the Classical Oration argument in his speech,
including several elements, including examples, persuasion and rhetorical questions.

Rumson for years and thought that he didn t understand the problems; but instead,
he just couldn t sell it (Sorkin). By doing this, although he doesn t say it, he s
admitting that he hadn t tried to sell the public on his ideas enough, that he had let
Sen. Rumson take center stage with his personal attacks, instead of discussing
issues important to the public. He does more refutation when he builds up how
Sen. Rumson talks about American character, but then uses an example by saying
Rumson called his girlfriend, a whore. and that she is to blame for their lot in life.
(Sorkin). He refutes it by telling how she had worked through school and just
wanted to help public school teachers and keep natural resources safe (Sorkin). He
concludes by saying that he had lost his girlfriend because of his job, and that
forgotten how to do his job (Sorkin) So he outlines what will happen in the future
with two examples. He first says that the next day, he will send an energy bill to
Congress for a twenty percent reduction in fossil fuel emissions over ten years, and
is persuasive by calling it, the most aggressive stride ever taken in the fight to reverse
the effects

Advanced Research Project Agency Network (ARPANET)
The computer network is computers and other devices have to be connected so
they can share data and hardware or software resources. In 1969, the University of
California at Los Angeles, the Stanford Research Institute, the University of
California at Santa Barbara and the University of Utah were all connected to be
part of the Advanced Research Project Agency Network (ARPANET) project. This
network has evolved to become the internet now. The networks are used to
communicate by email, video chat (video conferencing), and instant messaging. It
enables many people can share a single hardware device like a printer or scanner
and files can be shared. Software or operating on remote systems can be shared.
The types of networks are local area networks (LAN), personal area networks
(PAN), home area networks (HAN), wide area networks (WAN), campus networks,
metropolitan area networks (MAN), enterprise private networks, internetworks,
backbone networks (BBN), global area networks (GAN), and the internet.
Throughout the years there were different types of speeds. Fleishman state What s
the point of these increasing speeds? Video, primarily. The name of the game is
streaming or downloading high definition video across a room or from one end of
the house to the other while leaving enough room for other activities such as file

Why Buddhism Do Not Believe In Religion
Unlike Christianity, Buddhism does not believe in a God. The first reason they do
not believe in a God is that most God origins come from a feeling of fear
(Dhammika, 2016). The Buddha tried to help people understand fear and be able to
... calmly and courageously accept the things we cannot change (Dhammika, 2016,
para. 3) The second reason Buddhist s do not believe in a God is that there is not
concrete evidence that supports the idea of a God (Dhammika, 2016). Christians
have heaven and hell and after death one will receive their final judgment as to where
one will spend eternity. Everyone in Christianitywill have eternal life after they die,
but those who are saved will go to heaven and those who are not saved who have
not followed the word of God will spend their eternal life in hell (Robinson, 2016).
Reincarnation or rebirth is the belief in Buddhism. Death is not the end but the
beginning of a new birth (Tang, 1999). This is where ones karmic actions come
into place, after death one goes ...to be reborn in one of 6 realms which are; heaven,
human beings, Asura, hungry ghost, animal and hell (Tang, 1999, para. 4). These
Realms are not a permanent place and one does not stay there indefinitely (Tang,
1999). Buddhist s do not fear death at it is going to lead to a rebirth (Tang, 1999)....

For Buddhist s the meaning of life is fairly simple and that is to end suffering
(meaning of life, 2015). The Buddha taught that humans suffer because we
continually strive after things that do not give lasting happiness. We desperately try
to hold on to things friends, health, material things that do not last, and this causes
sorrow (meaning of life, 2015, para. 1). By recognizing and freeing ourselves from
these attachments this will eventually lesson the suffering we are encountering and
end the series of reincarnations (meaning of life,
Assessment of the Statement that Property is a Power...
Assessment of the Statement that Property is a Power Relationship Between People
Property is the right to possess, enjoy or use a determinant thing, and includes the
right of excluding others from doing the same. The concept of ownership or
property has no single or widely accepted definition. Like any other concept it has
great weight in public discourse and the popular usage varies broadly. Property is
frequently conceived as a bundle of rights and obligations. Property is stressed as not
a relationship between people and things, but a relationship between people with
regard to things. It is often conceptualized that property is the rights of ownership .
In common law property is divided ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bundle of rights theory is a common way of explaining how rights in property
are held. It is a theory which is commonly used to explain how a property can
simultaneously be owned in some sense by multiple parties. For example, a
husband and wife can be owners of real property that is also encumbered by a
mortgage and a mechanics lien. Bundle of rights is a theory and teaching tool, and
thus is not subject to being either true or false Ownership, however, does not
necessarily equate with sovereignty. If ownership gave supreme authority it would
be sovereignty, not ownership. These are two different concepts. Traditionally
bundle of rights include (i) control use of the property, (ii) benefit from the property
e.g rent, (iii) transfer or sell the property and (iv) exclude others from the property.
The legal system has evolved to cover the transactions and disputes which arise over
the possession, use, transfer and disposal of property, most particularly involving
contracts.
Property law has developed rapidly over many years. It started with the hunter
gatherers who had a subsistence economy. They would hunt and gather food in order
to survive. This led the way to tribalism where a group of hunter gatherers would stay
together in order to have a better chance of surviving.
Strength Of Hostage Negotiation
One of my main strength that I have as they relate to hostage negotiation is being
able to stay calm. Being able to stay calm in stressful situation is a great quality to
have, especially in hostage negotiations where lives are at stake. One way I could
improve this quality is by taking slower breaths. In stressful situation breathing slow
and calmly is key to staying calm. The faster your respiration is the more anxietyyou
feel and in very stressful situations that anxiety can turn into panic. By taking slower
breaths you helps negate the flight or fight effect and helps to keep us calm. A
quality that I consider to be a weakness of mine when it comes to hostage negotiation
is my patience. Having the patience when a hostage negotiation is

  • 7. The Basic Design Of An Exercise Prescription Exercise Prescription The basic design of an exercise prescription should be based on a person s age, fitness level, and health status including mental and physical health as well as the goals they are looking to acheive. Once the assessment is complete this is used to help determine how to develop the exerciseprogram specific to that individual. The American College of Sports Medicine (2014) s FITT principle is a good way to start the development process for any individual and should be the foundation of the exercise program. This principle includes four basic components to be followed including: frequency, intensity, timing, and type of exercises to be used. Appropriately applying these to an exercise program will help meet the individual goals of each client. Frequency of Exercise Determining how often an exercise session from a particular program should be performed is important and will help with gaining the benefits and results wanted. Too many or too few sessions in a week may have opposite, negative, or no effects on any individual. The frequency of exercising should be considered at an individual level and where a certain client s motivation may be at with their willingness to start a program. However, a good place to start is with a frequency of 2 3 times per week. This can optimize the beneficial results someone with osteoporosis is looking for. Kemmler Stengel (2014) performed an extensive 12 year cohort study observing the effects of exercise
  • 8. Discussion Of Sin And Paul s Letter To Christianity Introduction The concept of sin is an age old dispute, as evidence of this can be seen through the various religious traditions and wrongdoings of generations past, including adultery, witchcraft and murder. Sin continues to be a controversial topic in today s modern age, as many religious adherents aim to live their lives free of this to ascend into a peaceful afterlife. As taught by Jesus through the parable, and Mohammed through example and preaching, both the Christian and Islamic concept of major sin is to go against your god, representing the idea that one who speaks against their lord will not be granted forgiveness and an afterlife. However these religions differ in the sense Jesus is shown as removing adherents sin, whereas Islam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this modern age however there are more temptations of sin (alcohol, drugs and adultery more prevalent) and a resultant reduced emphasis on religious righteousness. This reduced social pressure to live a sin free life has allowed for a more unconditional interpretation of forgiveness, hence panting God in a more merciful light. Moreover, the Quran and Bible give believers guidelines to live their life by, so they may gain this afterlife. Although parables should not be taken literally, and stories could be altered through translation errors, the main discourse is still pertinent

Heaney s Childhood Memories in Poems Mid Term Break and Follower Seamus Heaney is an established Irish poet who was born on April 13th 1939. He was the oldest of nine children and was brought up on a remote farm in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. He has a lot of typically Irish memories which he includes in his poems. The three main memories that he brings up in the two poems Mid Term Break and Follower are the death of his brother Christopher, farm life and breaking the family tradition. Heaney is able to do this by not showing any emotion at all from himself, but from other people s reactions to the circumstances. Heaney actually wrote this poem 13 years after the incident, so it is clear this has deeply affected him emotionally. There are many people in Mid Term Break . Each of these people is significant. Heaney is the most important, because the poem is describing his memory. However, because Heaney is writing as an observational poet, without the other characters emotions, the poem would be bland and without feeling. In the first stanza, you find out that it is written in the first person narrative and the persona is most likely to be Heaney himself. It begins in the college sick bay, where Heaney has been waiting all morning, not knowing why. At this point, Heaney could be feeling bored, isolated and lonely. It would give him time to analyse the situation, and think why he had been sent there. The poem suggests he was there for a long time by using phrases like: I sat all morning.... and Counting bells knelling classes to a close. The first phrase used obviously referred to how long he had been there, but the second was a little harder to fathom. If he was counting bells knelling classes , this would mean several classes have already started. Due to the large time gap between each

Then, there s this whole thing on porosity. I won t go into detail about porosity, but just know that if you ve relaxed or dyed your hair (and haven t chopped it off sounds so drastic, doesn t it?) then more than likely the porosity of your hair is high. The porosity of your hair determines how your hair may react to certain products because of its ability to absorb or emit any kind of

  • 18. Heart Disease, The Leading Cause Of Disease Heart Disease is a disease that affects the heart s functions and is incurable. There are several types of Heart Disease including Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy, Arrhythmia, and Coronary Valve Disease. Heart Disease begins with inflammation and irritation of the inner lining of the coronary arteries and over time, cholesterol in the bloodstream can collect in the inflamed areas and begin the formation of a plaque (Werdo, n.d.). This plaque grows and as it does, the diameter of the arterynarrows decreasing blood flow enough to potentially cause the symptoms of angina (Werdo, n.d.). Being labeled the leading cause for death in both men and women, heartdisease will be the cause of death in one in four people (CDC, 20115). Heart diseaseis also the leading cause of death in ethnic people to include African Americans, Hispanics, and Native American in the United State (CDC, 2015). There are several risk factors for Heart Disease such as family history and increased age of a person. Other risk factors that increase the potential to develop plaque within coronary arteries and cause them to narrow are smoking, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and family history of heart problems, especially heart attacks and strokes (Werdo, n.d.). Once a person begins to exhibit symptoms of heart disease they will need to contact a physician for testing and possible diagnosis. A medical doctor may perform several test to diagnose a patient with Heart Disease

The job entailed driving a thirteen foot tall box truck with a coworker to Umpqua banks in Oregon and Washington that had relocated or closed down and decommissioning them by removing all technology equipment. That includes: computers, cash counters, printers, telephones, and anything that uses electricity. We would take every piece of technology and catalog them into an excel sheet with their serial and model numbers. Most the trips we went on to decommission the banks would entail us having to spend the night in hotels. I made $12.50 per hour, a generous raise from making minimum wageat my previous jobs. The first trip I was sent on was with Jon, a heavyset man with a buzz cut. Not long after we left the company shop for Medford, we took a pit stop at his house so he could change out of jeans into shorts for the drive. He told me the boss, my dad, didn t like to see his guys working in the field wearing anything but jeans, but assured me we wouldn t see any customers that day. I drove us to the first bank in Medford. The bank was desolate; everything was there except the people. I walked around and stood in the teller booths, found the silent emergency buttons, and walked inside the vault. Jon and I devised a system; he placed technology on the cart, and I scanned it into the computer. Jon also took over the banks speakers and was the DJ. I enjoyed working with Jon and the
  • 20. Symbolism Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Symbolism in Sir Gawain The Green Knight Sir Gawain The Green Knight is a classic medieval poem about a chivalrous knight on a journey to the Green Chapel. King Arthur s nephew, Sir Gawain has been challenged by the Green Knight in a beheading game, where he has agreed to exchange a blow in the head towards the Green Knight, to be returned to him the following New Years in journeying to the Green Chapel. Gawain has to battle whether his knightly virtues are more important than his own life when faced with different trials her encounters. Everything is not what it appears to be, knowing symbols is a critical part to understanding the meaning of the poem. Understanding the symbolism behind the Christian and Green Chapel adds to the overall understanding of the medieval poem. A general definition of a chapel is a small building for Christian worship, typically one attached to an institution or private house . The origin of the word chapel comes from the medieval Latin word capella and the Old French word chapele , having the meaning of hooded cloak (Alchin). The meaning behind this comes from a cloak, which belonged to St Martin, being kept as a holy relic and the name of the room becoming known as the chapel (Alchin). A chapel is seen in Arthur s Castle in Camelot, The Lord s Castle and the Green Chapel. In the text, specifically the two chapels attached to the Castle s would be more in the realm of a Christian Chapel. In the Medieval era, a castle would

  • 22. The Origin Of Moral Sense By Charles Darwin Charles Darwin is famous for his theories regarding evolution and natural selection. In his 1871 book, Charles Darwin explains the origin of morality through studying the behavior of various species. In his essay, Origin of the Moral Sense Charles Darwin uses his theory of evolution to explain the origin of moralitythrough the study of animals, specifically mammals. Darwin s main theory of the Origin of the Moral Sense is that humans have natural social instincts which in turn gives them a sense of naturally occurring morality. Darwin s ideas surrounding morality and a natural social instinct have been echoed and added to by philosophers, almost a century later, David Barash and Robert Trivers. In his essay, the Origin of Moral Sense Charles Darwin explains the origin of morality and its relation to evolution. Darwin argues, that like animals, humans are descendants of natural selection. Darwin argues that not only our (meaning humans and animals) mental capacity evolved, so did our own moral sense. Darwin s first point in the Origin of Moral Sense is that ethics occurs naturally amongst animals. Darwin believes that animals have a sense of sympathy and need to do the right thing ingrained in them. Although Darwin believes it is instinctual to do good , it does not apply to the same species, only species of the same kind. Darwin s second point argues that past actions that are good will be ingrained within ourselves, so we will repeat the same action again. Darwin
  • 23. Ptolemy s Argument Essay The motion of Earth is a complicated idea to grasp. Its motion can t be seen with the naked eye or felt in the way we feel motion from day to day. This, in conjunction with Aristotle s philosophical world view built on shaky logic and a lack of technology meant that the debate over the motion of the Earthlasted well into the 19th century. Galileo was able to chip away at some of the arguments using empirical data. However, the philosophical worldview was able to be adjusted to account for his discoveries. One of the most basic arguments for a stationary Earth was developed by Aristotle. Humans can perceive motion through the wind on our faces, the scenery passing by, and other factors. However, since the motion of the Earth is not observable in the same way other motion is, Aristotle determined that the Earth was stationary. This among many of his other ideas were used to build a world view that was in place for thousands of years. Ptolemy built on Aristotle s ideas with his conclusions regarding the dynamics of an object thrown in the air or dropped from a tower. Ptolemy notes that when an object is dropped from a height, it falls perpendicular to the ground (DeWitt P. 92). This was a damning conclusion, because stellar parallax was not observed until 1838 (DeWitt P. 96). The crux in Ptolemy s conclusion is that he believes the stars are much closer than they are which should have allowed him to observe the

Methods: Emergency physicians were observed in three EDs located in an urban teaching hospital, a suburban private teaching hospital, and a rural community hospital. A single investigator followed emergency staff physicians for 180 minute periods and recorded tasks, interruptions, and breaks in task. An interruption was defined as any event that briefly required the attention of the subject but did not result in switching to a new task. A break in task was defined as an event that required the attention of the physician for more than 10 seconds and subsequently resulted in changing tasks. Results: The mean (В±SD) total number of patients seen at all three sites during the 180 minute study period was 12.1 В± 3.7 patients (range 5 20). • 27. Analysis Of Wonders Of The Invisible World By Cotton Mather The short story, Wonders of the Invisible World by Cotton Mather, tells of how the devil is working around Boston. He tells this story from his own perspective in which he believes the devil is working in secret, and through the youth. One of the trials used as an example was Martha Carrier who was found guilty based on the information collected by Cotton Mather. Nathaniel Hawthorne, writer of the famous Scarlet Letter , writes a short story from the narrator s perspective, and how he visits his friend called Oberon. Oberon believes that the devil is residing within his writing and insists to the narrator that he must burn the manuscript to cast the devil out. The evidence that leads Oberon to believe that the devil is in his writing draws from publishers refusing to accept his work. In Wonders of the Invisible World , Mather suggests the devil resides in people who collect in hellish meetings where they discuss how to destroy the kingdom on out lord Jesus Christ. He uses Martha Carrier as an example of someone who is possessed by the devil and seeks to corrupt others and do harm to those who follow God. He provides evidence by bringing witnesses to Carrier s torment, including her children. How the devil is portrayed in The Devil in the Manuscript is more figurative rather than literal. Oberon believes the devil possessed his writing because no one wants to publish what he wrote. This is likely less literal than what Cotton Mather means, and is likely attributed from his ego and belief that his writing is too great to be his fault. The portrayal of the devil within the Wonders of the Invisible World is literal, and is inspired through fear and incredibly strict devotion to one religion. Cotton Mather believes the devil is literally possessing people and using those he possesses to corrupt others. He uses Martha Carrier as an example of how the devil will do this by bringing in her children to the trial. The children confessed on trial that not only that they were witches themselves, but that their mother had made them so. This helped strengthen Mather s argument that the devil is working through people to corrupt others. The children s confession also helped give support to Mather s theory

Pierre de Fermat, like many mathematicians of the early 17th century, found solutions to the four major problems that created a form of math called calculus. Before Sir Isaac Newton was even born, Fermat found a method for finding the tangent to a curve. He tried different ways in math to improve the system. This was his occupation. Let n be prime, and suppose it is equal to x2 y2 that is, to (x+y)(x y). Now, by hypothesis, the only basic, integral factors of n and n and unity, hence x+y=n and x y=1. Solving these equations we get x=1 /2 (n+1) and y=1 /2(n 1). He gave a proof of the statement made by Diophantus that the sum of the squares of two numbers cannot be the form of 4n 1. He added a corollary which I take to mean that it is impossible that the product of a square and a prime form 4n 1[even if multiplied by a number that is prime to the latter], can be either a square or the sum of two squares. For example, 44 is a multiple of 11(which is of the form 4 x 3 1) by 4, therefore it cannot be expressed as the sum of two squares. He also stated that a number of the form a2 +b2, where a is prime b, cannot be divided by a prime of the form 4n 1. Every prime of the form 4n+1 is accurate as the sum of two squares. This problem was first solved by Euler, who showed that a number of the form 2(4n+1) can be always showen as the sum of two squares, of course it was Mr. Pierre de Fermat. If a, b, c, are integers, a2 + b2= c2, then ab cannot be a square. Lagrange solved this. There is also a less obvious theme in the stories of religion. For example we heard mass at St Augustine s and said a prayer for father in My Oedipus Complex and God s will be done in The Half Brothers . This use of religion in the stories sets the period as nowadays most people are not very religious. For instance when a child is acting out you use a punishment, but if they are behaving the way the parents wants them to they reinforce that action. By doing this a child will have the skills to mature into a young adult and later into a grown adult and function in the real life. A parent is a key part in helping a child develop into the person they become later on in life. During this stage that Piaget describes they still cannot see other people s points of view and think everyone sees from their perspective. This can be important to know when dealing with a child in the age range so you can know how to talk to them or relate to them. Piaget uses an interesting method of using children s books to help see the development of a child. He realized that we like stories with human characters, or animal characters with decidedly human characteristics, that display a wide range of physical, cognitive, and socioemotional features (Hansen Zambo, 2005). Piaget s third stage of cognitive developmental theory is the concrete operations stage which occurs during ages seven through age

IMPROVEMENTS TO HIGH FREQUENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM IN SRI LANKA NAVY FOR BETTER PERFORMANCES INTRODUCTION 1.The High Frequency (HF) radio band is defined as the range of frequencies in the radio spectrum between 3 and 30 megahertz . Military organizations have used HF radios for both strategic and tactical communications for more than 80 years. However with the development of satellite communications (SatCom) use of HF communication were de emphasized and fell in to disuse. In contrast to this importance of HF communication still existing for military applications. The militaries around the world must have a robust long range communication system that does not rely on existing communication infrastructure in emergencies, since the satellite comms and other comms infrastructure will present most lucrative targets for the enemy. 2.At present Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) use VHF and UHF line of sigh (LOS) systems for its tactical communications ranges up to 50Nm from transmitting (TX) stations, beyond this range SLN is compelled to use satCom systems to contact its fleet at sea. However this method is very expensive and voice call charges of satellite comm are beyond 500.00 Rs per minute, besides all the ships and craft of SLN fleet were not equipped with SatCom facilities. Furthermore the Inmarsat system which SLN use to connect with her fleet is a commercial system which controlled by a company this fact also raises security concerns. 3.SLN use two methods to meet this
  • 37. Theme Of Satire In Lazarillo De Tormes Lazarillo de Tormes is a famous work of Spanish literature published anonymously. The novel is written in the first person. Lazarillo de Tormes is known as a picaresque novel in that the novel is written about a character of the lower class instead of a hero or upper class character. The novel has several themes, but the theme that is constant throughout the novel is appearance versus reality. The author utilizes several rhetorical devices in the novel which add emphasis to the story. The novel, which was banned by the Spanish Crown during the time of the Spanish inquisition, is the story of the birth and life Lazarillo de Tormesas he serves various masters and his struggle for survival. His struggles are real. Many of the rhetorical devices serve to add humor to the novel as well. The author uses satire to support the theme of appearance versus reality. The definition of satire is an attempt to ridicule, mock, or criticize something or someone with humorous content. Satire is a rhetorical device that is used throughout the novel. The author uses humor in the wake of misfortune. This is evident in the chapter where Lazarillo serves his first master, a blind man. He treated Lazarillo horribly and also starved him. Lazarillo learns many deceitful things from his master which will serve him well throughout his life. Lazarillo s goal was to get away from the blind man. An example of satire is the quote, What! You smelled the sausage and you couldn t smell the post? Ole ? Ole ? I jeered (Albert, Michael 17). Lazarillo was making fun of the blind man for being able to smell the difference in the sausage and rotten turnips, but he did not smell the post that Lazarillo purposefully guided him into. Lazarillo was set on getting away from his first master and this is the clever way that Lazarillo gets away. He leaves without knowing the condition of his first master. In the end, Lazarillo did manage to outwit the blind man. The author s portrayal of the clergy can be considered satire as well. The clergy is portrayed very negatively in the novel. The clergy is not noble, honest or Christ like which is what people normally equate with a man that holds such a position. According to T. Anthony Perry, there is a high

FEASIBILITY STUDY Feasibility reports describe one or more design solutions to a specific problem and determine if the proposed solution is practical and feasible. Preferably, more than one solution is offered, in which case the report compares the various designs and determines which option is best. Design and feasibility reports are essentially the same type of document, differing only in the amount of emphasis placed on practical and economic viability of the design in comparison with other possible solutions. A design report, often very similar to an internal proposal, focuses on describing one specific implementation. A feasibility study, on the other hand, also emphasizes the investigation and comparison of alternative solutions. Design reports and feasibility reports are crucial for decision making and product development in almost any technical organization. They document an engineer s thinking through a solution to a problem, a description of the solution, and the reasons why that solution should be implemented. Managers need accurate and comprehensive feasibility and design reports to decide where to commit scarce resources. In addition, an accurate and comprehensive design report helps in developing other documents, such as formal proposals, specifications, and work plans. 3.1 OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY In this project we are providing the help to the company for selection process and tpo to maintain the all record which are record the company for

The Impact Of Smart Growth Regulations On Affordable Housing Every profession bears the responsibility to understand the circumstances that enable its existence. ― Robert Gutman In trying to find material and an understanding about the issues of sustainability, smart growth and affordable housing I came across the preceding quote by Robert Gutman author of Neighborhood, City, Metropolis: An Integrated Reader in Urban Sociology , which I thought encapsulated my efforts in writing this paper. This paper is not so much an attempt to make an argument for one aspect or another of the three E s of sustainability, nor is it an attempt to argue about the effects of smart growth regulations on affordable housing, but rather it is an effort to understand what these key elements are and how they may or may not actually relate to each other. As such this paper is a survey of sustainability, smart growth and affordable housing and how regional governments may or may not impact the three issues, their relationship to each other and their effective application. Sustainable Development: My knowledge prior to this class about sustainability was that it was an attempt or effort to protect the environment from the encroachment of unchecked suburban sprawl. My assumptions were that it was a product of the 1970s counter culture hippie movement and a return back to nature. However, during the process of studying this subject I have since come to learn that sustainability is much more than just about the environment, but rather also about the economics

Concussions are temporary unconsciousness caused by a blow to the head. The term is also used loosely of the aftereffects such as confusion or temporary incapacity (dictionary definition). Athletes can usually can recognize a mild concussionby seeing lights or hearing bells. Before concussions were discovered it was known as getting your bell rung because they didn t know what it was. Concussions are one of the most dangerous things that could happen to the human head. Concussions can cause symptoms to last a long time, and people could not know they have one. Concussions long result is Chronic traumatic encephalopathy, also known at CTE. CTE can cause Alzheimer s, Parkinson s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as; ALS, anxiety, depression, and even death. A concussion is a onetime event that can make a huge change to one s life. Sports are the main cause of concussions, but someone can get a concussion anytime and anywhere. You don t have to be tackled by a 350 pound lineman to injure your brain, says Brent Masel, M.D., medical director of the Brain Injury Association of America. (Beil) Parents are now trying to keep their children from playing sports until they re eighteen. Some people think that forcing athletes to stop playing sports will stop concussions. People should learn how to prevent and how to take care of one, instead of not doing what they love. It is important to understand what a concussion is and how we can determine the state of the problem. Keeping children away from what they love to do isn t fair to them, even though there is a higher risk for their child to suffer from a concussion, because their brains are not fully developed yet. Kids should be able to live their dreams and play whatever sport suits them. If they don t get to play as a child, how will they know if they like the sport or can play it? They wouldn t have any experience playing the sport, just watching the games on television or going to them. Sports are not the only way someone can get a concussion. A child could fall off a bed, trip over something, or get into a wreck and hit their head and

It was sort of like an older motel in the USA, but it was clean and reasonably comfortable and the dinner that night and breakfast the next morning were good. Well, I should preface the latter comment and say I tried the Scottish traditional breakfast of haggis , and I could not swallow the first bite. The first reason they do not believe in a God is that most God origins come from a feeling of fear (Dhammika, 2016). The Buddha tried to help people understand fear and be able to ... calmly and courageously accept the things we cannot change (Dhammika, 2016, para. 3) The second reason Buddhist s do not believe in a God is that there is not concrete evidence that supports the idea of a God (Dhammika, 2016). Christians have heaven and hell and after death one will receive their final judgment as to where one will spend eternity. Everyone in Christianitywill have eternal life after they die, but those who are saved will go to heaven and those who are not saved who have not followed the word of God will spend their eternal life in hell (Robinson, 2016). Reincarnation or rebirth is the belief in Buddhism. Death is not the end but the beginning of a new birth (Tang, 1999). This is where ones karmic actions come into place, after death one goes ...to be reborn in one of 6 realms which are; heaven, human beings, Asura, hungry ghost, animal and hell (Tang, 1999, para. 4). The bundle of rights theory is a common way of explaining how rights in property are held. Bundle of rights is a theory and teaching tool, and thus is not subject to being either true or false Ownership, however, does not necessarily equate with sovereignty. If ownership gave supreme authority it would be sovereignty, not ownership. These are two different concepts. Traditionally bundle of rights include (i) control use of the property, (ii) benefit from the property e.g rent, (iii) transfer or sell the property and (iv) exclude others from the property. The legal system has evolved to cover the transactions and disputes which arise over the possession, use, transfer and disposal of property, most particularly involving contracts.
