Italian Immigration To America Essay
One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse
reception of Catholic Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other
Catholic European immigrants, was the attitude Italians held in regards to the
country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants felt alienated in their
new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was a
direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true
in the Italian Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely
internal matter; it was also caused by American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on
to say that this discriminating view held by Americans led to Italians being
stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in the
United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in
schools which led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and

Family was of great importance to Italians and that did not change once they arrived
in the United States. The term they used to describe this family centered way of life
was Domus, or culture of the home. It was for this reason that the home was very
important to the Italians. To highlight the importance of the domus that Italians
brought to the United States, Covello made four principles of the domus, the points
are; 10. One should stand by blood relatives in any situation whether they be right or
wrong. 15. Married couples should never sever their relations with their parents. 17.
Children should respect the friends and relatives to their parents and in their
behavior conform to the opinions of these friends and relatives. 21. Husband and
wife should represent the union of two blood groups and not the union of two people

How to Set Up Your Own Fm Radio Station
How To Set Up Your Own FM Radio Station Licensing And Start Up Issues
There are several ways to set up your own radio station. It depends on how serious
you are about it. The single most important thing you should know before you get
started is why would you need to start your own radio station?
Maybe, it s because you are a DJ or you have a band and want to reach an audience
with your songs. Maybe, you have a huge collection of rock music and want to share
it with the world. Maybe you are a member of club and want to make money by
broadcasting a certain type of music along with commercials. Maybe you are a
candidate and want to spread the word about your nomination and your speeches. Or
maybe you are just person who is passionate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In New Zealand, there are no ongoing fees to operate this type of station however
you do need to pay nominal annual fees to APRA and RIANZ for music royalties.
You do need to ensure however that your transmission equipment is compliant with
Radio Spectrum Management regulations. Additionally, as is the case with any radio
station, all your broadcasts need to comply with the Broadcasting Act.
Fundamentally this means your broadcasts must be in good taste. The advantages
that a low power FM radio station have over a commercial station is that is is much
less expensive to set up at the outset, your likelihood of finding a suitable frequency
are much higher, and there are far fewer ongoing costs.
When operating a low power FM station, you need to determine who your audience
is. If you are broadcasting in an area where there are already a number of resident
commercial stations, you may enjoy more success by broadcasting niche
programming that appeals to an audience not currently served by the full power FM
stations. Alternatively for those who are located in a more rural area or town, you
then have the opportunity to set your station up as the local alternative to what is
already available. Generally a local station competing against a station being beamed
in by satellite from one of the main centres will attract a great deal of local
community support.
When it comes to setting up or starting up a low power FM radio
Infidelity Is Not That Big Of A Deal
Infidelity is a tough subject to talk about among people throughout the world. It is
commonly known as a violation of trust between married couples and can be
considered a touchy subject. As examined in the article by Emily Barrow there are
often cases of adultery related to people who are considered happy. These people
are faithful for decades but one day they decide to cross a line that they have never
crossed before and risk everything they have in their relationship. Although some
people have a hard time explaining their reasoning and often time s relationships
end throughout the article there are several points to defend infidelity and explain
how it is not that big of a deal. My personal opinion is that it should be considered
unacceptable not because of any religious matters but out of genuine respect and
love for your partner you should keep the promise you made when you were
married. Within this paper I will investigate the concept of infidelity and why
people decide to cheat on their significant other when everything is perfect at home
and when times are tough. Through the use of several economic concepts learned
throughout the course I will apply them to my research and establish a final
conclusion that will aid me in weather I agree or disagree with the authors analysis.
Infidelity is the largest opprobrium around the world. It is well know that adultery
will more than often lead to divorce yet Esther Perel a well known psychotherapist,
states that divorce is
Early Childhood Education Reflection Paper
As I reflect on the past eight weeks, my insights on Early Childhood Education have
given me a better understanding of issues and trends in Early Childhood Education.
As I mastered this course, I have also become more knowledgeable and understanding
of the needs of children and families in my community. Another way that I have been
strengthened was through discussions and sharing blogs with my colleagues. On the
other hand, researching professional early childhood educationtopics and viewing
multimedia presentations were beneficial to my professional growth as well. I felt
that the multimedia were definitely the meat of this course. Therefore, I am
knowledgeable with information than before. As an early childhood educator, and
regarding changing demographics and diversity findings, I am significantly
impacted on my professional over my initial reaction. However, I have learned that
diversity is challenging, as the invasion of immigrants and refugees into the U.S.
from different parts of the world is changing the country s demographics. According
to Boutte, G. S. (2008), in a rapidly changing world, some groups have greater
societal benefits than others. Therefore, educators should show love as they face the
challenge of preparing students from diverse populations by considering their
background because of race, ethnicity, gender, class, language, religion, ability or age
(p. 166). For this reason, early childhood educators should welcome culturally diverse
environments
The Contributions Of Frederick Douglass By Frederick
Douglas
While being educated and defending himself against Mr. Covey were important
events in Douglass life, the most important turning point was the day he was able
to earn money from work. Being able to earn money reminded him about his plan
to attain freedom, made him an important asset to his master, and made freedom a
more attainable feat with his ability to hire his time. Earning money allows
Douglass to remember the goal he had almost forgotten, freedom. Since Frederick
Douglass becomes a such a skilled calker he is able to, command the highest
wages given to the most experienced calkers, and he was, now of some importance
to [his] master. (92) Since Douglass is giving all his wages to his master, Mr.
Hugh, he is allowed to be free during his leisure time. During this time he is
reminded of his desire to be free. During these leisure times, these old notions of
slavery would steal over me again (92) Douglass says again because while in the
employment of Mr. Gardener, he only had time to think about his life and how to
protect it. Having more tasks to do than time to do it, he was continuously working,
and at times, retaliating against his white overseers. Now that he is living relatively
comfortably, it heightens his yearning to be a free man, ...whenever my condition
improved...it only increased my desire to be free... If Mr. Hugh had worked
Douglass as hard as his previous masters, Douglass would not have been able to
think about his plans for freedom because he

Denny s Analysis
Denny s Diner is an unlikely company to market to Millennials. The twenty four hour
diner that specialized in cheap, simple food is not exactly what comes to mind when
one thinks of the restaurants that the environmentally and health conscious
millennials will choose (Jang et al). But not only are millennials green and healthy,
they are increasingly tach savvy. Recently, social media and meme popularity have
skyrocketed, and Denny s hopes to capitalize on that. A quick scroll through Denny s
Tumblr account reveals eclectic, yet perfectly planned, content that is intended to
raise questions, make the viewer laugh, and, most importantly, gain the loyalty of
young consumers. Denny s Tumblr account not only markets to younger generations

While Celiac s Disease is undoubtedly a real condition, the gluten free diet is a current
fad. Particularly in large, urban areas, the gluten free has sparked an outpouring of
social media posts. By picking up on the popularity of the gluten free diet, Denny s
implies that even if someone is on the diet, he or she can still eat there. As a cheap,
quick diner, the average consumer would not assume that Denny s has many gluten
free options. However, by portraying this information through a humorous response,
Denny s proves that it is a restaurant where trendy, health conscious people can eat.
But beyond that, by responding to such an obscure question from a blogger and
using a question about a girlfriend to advertise their gluten free options, Denny s
subtly hints at how ridiculous they think the gluten free fad is. With millennials
obsessed with the free from movement, such as food free from gluten, soy, and dairy,
Denny s has to point out that while gf typically means girlfriend in short hand, it
now means gluten free to trendy millennials (Carr, Stop the Free From Fad ).
Through this post, Denny s demonstrates how ridiculous it is that gf refers to gluten
free instead of girlfriend. Ultimately, this post allows Denny s to relate

On a Supposed Contradiction in Plato s Apology and Crito

best paper in the 2012 Agora. Ben presented an earlier version of this paper at the

When reading the Apology and the Crito of Plato, one inevitably comes upon a
seeming fundamental contradiction between the two dialogues. The Apology
presents readers with a defiant Socrates who declares in his trial that, if acquitted on
the condition that he never philosophize again, he would continue to practice
philosophy in spite of the jury s order to the contrary:
. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather, it clears the debate considerably. If the Apology passage is shown to have
been made in defiance of an illegal court procedure, then the Apology passage
cannot be taken as evidence of Socratic support of civil disobedience. Such evidence,
coupled with the obedience to law proscribed in the Crito, allows the supposed
contradiction between the two dialogues to be dismissed.
In order to analyze the Apology and the Crito in relation to each other, one must first
make an assumption that has not been proven to any significant extent. One must
assume that the Socrates character within the two dialogues is both consistent and
trustworthy in espousing philosophical arguments. By accepting this assumption, one
can evaluate the inconsistencies within the two Socratic dialogues as if they were a
complete, consistent whole. Following such an assumption, one can examine the
philosophy in the Apology in relation to that within the Crito with logical bearing.
In order to understand the seeming contradiction between the two works, one must
understand the passages on which it is based. The defiance passage of the Apology,
when interpreted literally, does indeed seem to contradict the obedience to the state
espoused in the

The Color Purple by Alice Walker
The award winning novel, The Color Purple by Alice Walker, is a story about a
woman going through cruel things such as: incest, rape, and physical abuse. This
greatly written novel comes from a very active feminist author who used many of her
own experiences, as well as things that were happening during that era, in her writing.
The Color Purpletakes place in the early 1900 s, and symbolizes the economic,
emotional, and social deprivation that African American women faced in Southern
states of America. The main character of the story is Celie, a fourteen year old that
starts writing letters to God for thirty years, and then to her sister, Nette, who ran
away to Africa to save herself from the troubles Celie went through. Celie starts off
as a pushover and very dependent girl that would eventually grow and develop into
an independent flourishing woman that opens a business making pants for all
genders. This novel shows the hardship of a girl becoming a woman over the course
of her life and eventually standing up for herself and being confident. Many of the
experiences and characters of The Color Purpleare based on history of that time and
a bit of the author s personal experiences. Her use of epistolary allows the reader to
learn everything in the point of view of Celie. Alice Walkers influences for writing
this novel range from her childhood experiences to the white society in her hometown
of Eatonville, Georgia. Even during these times, it still shows that women
Picture Frame History
Picture frames are a highly used product all around the world used to display
cherished memories for all to see in the household no matter if it is a dollar store
pick up or a 19th century antique. The difficulty of manufacturing a picture frame
depends on the detail put onto the frame. For the sake of the report, the picture frame
being manufactured was a basic picture frame; free of much detail. Due to this, the
manufacturing process length was significantly shorter than that of a high end
detailed picture frame.
The first step of the manufacturing process begins with selecting the material for the
basis of the frame, that being pine wood. Pine wood was used for the framework of
the picture frame as it was really cheap, light, and strong enough for the task at hand;
to hold and display the picture. The second ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Have Fun While Doing Workout Essay
Have fun while doing workouts here are the games that transform work into play
Almost everyone is running behind a machine life in this era. People have lots of
works to do in their life. And for some, exercise is just one more work in their
routine. Some will be frustrated while doing workouts. It is easy to lose motivation

thing; for this, it is better to try a physical activity that actually brings the fun out of
the person.
Sports are the perfect choice for this. But for the people who don t have the
competitive attitude, play based workouts are the best and simpler alternative. Plenty
of science suggests that play is the best activity for brains of adults. The real reason

How Did The Wright Brothers Change The World
The Invention of the Wright Brothers Did the invention of the airplane by the
Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, make an impact in the world?
Through the years many inventions have been made, but in the early twentieth
century an invention was made which created a great impact in history, the
airplane. In one hundred years the airplane has been modified and used to create
new ways of transportation, but the most important thing is its history. The two
brothers which are considered the fathers of modern aviation changed the way
people viewed them and the world. Many people did not recognize that they could
do such a thing, but after a few years many saw what they could do. Wilbur Wright,
who was older than Orville Wright, was born on April 16, 1867 near Millville,
Indiana and four years later his brother Orville Wright was born on 1871. In their
early years of their lives Wilbur and Orville Wright had developed the love for

These changes helped their flights last longer and were now able to be used as a
way of transportation. By the year of 1908 they had signed a contract with the U.S.
Army for production of the Wright plane. In 1918 the airmail service began and in
1920 the government established the first transcontinental airmail service, making a
great impact in the nation. Another way in which planes have made an impact in
history was in war, for example, World War 1. The military began using planes
which were loaded with bombs. Planes were used to gather information, machine
guns were put in the planes to have air combats. In the second war, World War II,
Germany used powerful aircraft in their military strategy called blitzkrieg. Another
devastating impact that was made with the use of airplanes was the attack on Pearl

Street Traffic, Safety, and Accidents
Roads are the backbone and essential modes of transportation, providing many
different supports for human civilization. Among the early and inexpensive
technologies available for developing comprehensive traffic, management proposals
are Road capacity, traffic sign (i.e. pavement markings, road sign, etc.), Guard rails,
cross marking etc traffic calming, vehicle parking regulations and controls,
pedestrian measures, accident reduction programs, Bus priority measures. As
technology evolved, application of Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) was introduced.
(Olaogbebikan J. E et al. 2013). Street lighting also improves safety for drivers,
riders, and pedestrians. They concluded that on average the presence of street
lighting reduces the severity of injuries by a factor of 3.
Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are advanced applications which, without
embodying intelligence as such, aim to provide innovative services relating to
different modes of transport and traffic management and enable various users to be
better informed and make safer, more coordinated, and smarter use of transport
networks. Roadways are, unfortunately, the scene where preventable urban fatalities

Starbucks Promised For The Working Conditions
Last year, Starbucks promised that they would improve the working conditions
and scheduling of their employees, but the company has not lived up to their
promise yet. The managers want to keep labor costs as low as possible which has
resulted in understaffing and making employees work long days, sometimes even
making them close one night and open the next morning, which is known as a
clopening . Autonomy, one of the most important job characteristics of motivation,
seems to be very low in this situation for multiple reasons. First, the workers are not
able to choose their own work schedule, the company provides them with when
they are scheduled to work. This alone decreases motivation, but the fact that some
workers are scheduled for clopenings further lowers their autonomy. Most workers
would not mind opening or closing as long as they do not have to do both back to
back. One way to fix this would be to allow workers to choose their own schedules.
If Starbucks used an online scheduling program where every worker could input what
times they wanted to work over the next two weeks or so, employees would be much
happier with their schedules. The workers would have a minimum and maximum
amount of hours they could work in the given time period, a minimum and maximum
amount of employees that could work at the same time, and a minimum shift length.
This scheduling process could also ensure that no employee performs a clopening if

People are trapped in history and history is trapped in them. James A. Baldwin
The study of history not only provides information about the past, but gives people
knowledge and details that help shape lives, in the present and future. For the longest
time it has been said that history is bound to repeat itself if it is not understood.
Although the repetition of previous tragic historical events is an important reason to
study the past, there are many others. As American playwright James Baldwin said,
people are a part of history, but history is just as much part of them. This is one of
the more fundamental reasons why the exploration of the past is vital to human
beings. The study of history gives humans a sense of belonging, a feeling that ... Show

throughout the next decades, this trend will contribute less than 1% to total energy
consumption and energy related greenhouse gas emissions.
The Shift Towards Clean Energy
Technology
Technology development and deployment is an essential part of creating reliable,
affordable, and sustainable energy. Besides the development of modern and
sustainable technology, improving technologies of the deployment and energy
consumption received from fossil fuels may contribute greatly to the reduction of
negative externalities.

Income statement presentation of unusual loss
Financial statements are very important for many participants in the financing
reporting process. High quality financing reporting is necessary to investors and
creditors in decision making process. Their decisions and judgments depend on
accuracy of information presented in those statements. For example, investors try to
predict future performance based on the company s current earnings. They want to
invest in a company that is profitable. Misleading information in financial statements
can have a negative impact on their decision. Unfortunately, some managers try to
manipulate financial statement in order to achieve desired outcomes. ... Show more

Before the company controller, Jim Dietz, decides to include the product recall under
the extraordinary items, he has to determine whether this event is extraordinary or not
because including the recall in the extraordinary item could misinform the investors.
Jim Dietz says that recalls do occur in their industry but they have never had a recall
of this magnitude. The Cranor Corporation s loss from the product recall, even
though significant in amount, does not satisfy both concepts of unusual and
infrequent occurrence. Recalls should be considered as a risk in operating business.
Moreover, recalls can be disguise of management shortfall and affect the company
credibility. The company suffered loss from a recall that resulted from operations.
Consequently, it should be included in continuing operations and reported as a
separate component of continuing operations.
The CEO and the company controller are faced with an ethical dilemma. Their
bonuses are calculated based on the income from continuing operations. A conflict of
interest exists. The decision of the executives is influenced by the possibility of
personal gain. They personally profit from the decision to report the recall as an
extraordinary item. Also, they might be misclassifying the recall expense transaction
as extraordinary in order to improve the results of continuing operations.

Five Metacognition Errors
As a mentor who has struggled with finding academic motivation, I think it is
important to describe to the new UMKC undergraduate why we procrastinate and
what the five metacognition errors are. The five errors described in the video,
Psychology of Action June 2015, are that we often underestimate how long it will
take us to complete a specific task. The second reason is that we overestimate how
much time is remaining until we must have the task completed. The third reason is
that we often think that in the future we will somehow have more motivation to do
the work. Another reason is that we believe that we have to feel like it or actually
want a task for it to become quality work. In turn, not feeling like doing an
assignment will result in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not uncommon for someone in college to have a job, family, exercise
ambitions, trying to maintain a social life, all on top of studying for tests and
doing homework. Telling yourself that you will just do the assignment in the
morning is very unrealistic when you know you should just do it right then and
there. This is why picking a specific time to do homework can be beneficial. If you
have your whole day planned out then your daily activities are less likely to get in
the way of one another. This then leads into my next strategy suggestion which is
getting the new student to think about how their schedule will open up more if
they just get the task done early on in the week. Just thinking about getting all of
your homework done before the weekend can be a really big motivator. According
to the last video, The Power of Yet, rewarding yet (your goal being accomplished)
and the strategy and progress is very important. You can reward yourself in
whatever way you see fit for each task. No one wants to sit at home on the
weekends and do homework when they could be out spending time with friends or
family. Being able to go out and have a social life can be very rewarding to some
Business Law Mistake
Introduction
In the Law of Contract the phrase mistake Misrepresentation is applied when one or
both parties of a contract act under a false or mistaken understanding.
Mistake can be defined by Pendleton , Vickery (1998), [1] as; вћў A
misunderstanding regarding a fact, causing one or more parties to hold disagreeing
beliefs about the foundation of a contract.
Mistakes can be made in the form of a contracts subject matter or as a mistake of
identity. There are 3 different types of mistake in Contract Law. вћў Common
Mistake (Subject) вћў Mutual Mistake (Subject) вћў Unilateral Mistake (Identity)

вћў Voidable
On the other hand if the contract is deemed voidable due to misrepresentation the
contract still exists and the good title is passed from the first party to the crook
who then passes the good title on the an innocent third party (as long as the
innocent third party paid a reasonable price for the goods, if they did not pay a
reasonable price the court will find they did not have good faith and the contract is
therefore void). In a case like this the only thing the plaintiff can do is find the crook
and sue him for the amount lost.
There are two ways a court will decide if the contract is made void for mistake or not.
If the contract was made face to face or at a distance (eg. on the phone or by letter)
вћў At a distance
This was first applied in the case Cundy v Lindsay (1878)[10] where a crook had
pretended to be a regular customer of the company and ordered a substantial amount
of goods. Once in possession of the goods he sold them on to an innocent third party
who bought them at a reasonable price (good faith). The company then took action
against the innocent third party under the grounds of mistake. It was held in this case
that the plaintiff was mistaken as to the identity of the crook and the contract was
made void, on the grounds that the plaintiff thought they

Water saturation is the key parameter in the reservoir engineering calculations.
Geology of the region and the various rock properties determine the water saturation
parameters. The water saturation value used here is the average of all water
saturation values given in the data. From the data the average of water saturation
values at places amounts to 45.25% ~ 0.45. Thus the S_w value chosen for this

Absorbance and Spectrophotometry
Experiment 2: Absorbance and Spectrophotometry
ABSTRACT:
This was an investigation into the effects of different wavelengths of light on
methylene blue and carmine red on the absorbance value on a spectrophotometer. A
spectrophotometer is used to measure light intensity by emitting a single light source
through a cuvette of coloured solution. The particles in the solution, which are
coloured, absorb the light depending on how concentrated it is and this produces an
electronic reading from the photometer which is the absorbance value. The maximum
absorption was found for both solutions and was used to calculate the molar
extinction coefficient of methylene blue. An unknown concentration of methylene
blue was calculated by using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Figure 4. Graph showing dilutions of methylene blue and the absorptions each
solution gives
The black line on figure 4 represents the regression line. We can use this to find the
concentration of the unknown concentration of methylene blue solution by drawing a
tangent to the regression line at absorbance 0.262 (where the unknown absorbed) and
reading down from that point on the graph to the concentration. The concentration of
the unknown methylene blue is 4.4 x 10 6 mol dm 3.
We can find the molar extinction coefficient by substituting values of absorbance and
the concentration of the unknown concentration of methylene blue into Beer s laws
equation.
Absorbance = k c t
k = absorbance / c t
k = 0.262 / 4.4 x 10 6 x 1
k = 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3
Therefore, k, the molar extinction coefficient is 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3.
DISCUSSION:
The main objectives of this experiment was to find the unknown concentration of
methylene blue by using a spectrophotometer. I found the maximum absorption for
methylene blue and carmine red (please refer to figure 1) and using this I determined
a more accurate maximum absorption value for each solution by taking further
readings around the peak of each line to determine the maximum. However, the
findings of maximum absorption for methylene blue and carmine red may not be as
accurate as we think

Le Mariage De Figaro Essay
Before the composing of Le Mariage de Figaro and Le Nozze di Figaro, the
aristocratic society was in full swing. In early eighteenth century France had a
very defined political and social order known as the ancien rГ©gime. This meant
that France was an absolute monarchy which was fostered by King Louis XIV by
showing the divine right of Kings. This was accomplished by building an
extravagant palace where nobles would live with the royal family, and draw in
people that would have normally been adversaries to the throne, and then turned
them into allies by the draw for a luxurious life in court. As anyone can imagine, this
made the division between upper and lower class even larger and more distinguished.

But, through Figaro and Susanna s defiance of the Count s upper society, we see the
power of the monarchy falling. Just as society was beginning to see the nobility in a
lesser light these societal parallels extend to the Countess and Susanna s departure
from the idea of their mere servitude. In fact, their clever plot to trap the count in his
own immoral act showed the independence that women could and would eventually
gain. Not only did their ingenuity display the power that women could have in
society, but through the Count s heart felt apology to his wife, they demonstrated the
need for women. As mentioned earlier these character s actions and personalities are
representative of a societal norm and change of the time period. The Count showed
the changing power of the nobility. The Countess displayed the increased authority of
women not only in their homes but in the ruling class. Susanna demonstrated the
budding feminism that was overcoming the exploitation of the feminine sex. Figaro
s ability to eventually marry his bride of choice over nobilities desire was indicative
of societies movement from the superiority of nobility. Even Marcellina s desire to
take the young Figaro s hand in marriage displayed the attention that society was
beginning to show the value
The Conflict Between Characters In Hamlet By William...
Shakespeare is one of the world s most renown play writers in the world, for, his
playwrights discuss almost all forms of error found in human nature. His play,
Hamlet, is one of the second most famous plays out of all which conveys that man
cannot always be courageous and content. Throughout the play, Shakespeare creates
numerous conflicts between characters. Mainly, Hamlethimself has tensions between
other characters. The reason Shakespeare may do this is to exemplify the differences
between Hamlet and another character. Through the use of soliloquies, Shakespeare
highlights the cowardice, gloomy traits of Hamlet which ultimately allows the
audience to determine that Hamlet is a cowardly, miserable man in comparison to
another character in the play like Prince Fortinbras. After promising to avenge his
father s death, Hamlet s state of mindturns for the worst. As the play develops,
Hamlet becomes less and less of a leader whom people look up to and more and
more of a cowardly man. Hamlet comes to realize this himself, and it also becomes
evident to the audience in a soliloquy from Act 4, Scene 4. In this scene from the
play, Hamlet is being taken to England and along the way he comes across Fortinbras
and his army. Hamlet assumes that Fortinbras has his mind set on taking the entire
country of Poland, but really it is only for a small amount of land. Following his
encounter, Hamlet begins to ponder. It is within these thoughts that Shakespeare
reveals Hamlet s true
The Education Of Higher Education
The idea of Higher Education is a crucial thread in the fabric of this nation, woven
through our culture, beliefs and politics. The best of American Higher Education
outstrips any others in the world and the output of American Institutions is
unparalleled. To stay competitive and expand the current educationhorizon, different
types of institutions, evolve and prioritize differently to ensure the best education
quality to targeted students. However, today Higher Educationis facing more
challenges and critiques than at any other point in history. Indeed, when encountering
the unavoidable struggle between pleasing students and following government
regulations, colleges start to rouse from their academic wish fulfillment fantasies and
realize that the idea of Higher Education does not swab away the realism of this
materialistic world: higher education cannot simply satisfy everyone. Three
distinctive educational models, public universities, non profit private universities and
for profit universities, demonstrate the complex dynamic among schools, government
and students. Although the three educational models share different education
philosophy and serve multiple objectives, they all have the same purpose in the end:
to help one realize his or her own unique potential in order to manage the diversity of
expectations and challenges one would face in the society. As we know, each
educational model strives to provide the best education to its students with the
resources it

2.Usage of sugarcane bagasse ash as a replacement to Portland cement in concrete
The target economic sectors of the proposed research are the sugar industry and
the construction industry. The sugar industry will be directly affected, since the
main goal of this research project is to develop a sugarcane bagasse ash based
product that can be used as an additive for concrete mixes. Due to the known
properties and chemical composition of sugarcane bagasse, it is expected that this
new product will be competitive with fly ash in terms of improving the properties
of concrete mixes. The newly added economic value of bagasse ash may also make
it economically advantageous to burning the entire stock of bagasse fiber for
electricity production beyond the needs of the sugar mills. The local construction
industry will be indirectly affected by the availability of an additive for concrete
production with a lower cost and similar properties to fly ash. This new bagasse ash
based product is expected to reduce the construction costs of projects requiring large
amounts of concrete (e.g., foundations, concrete bridges), thus, leading to a potential
increase in the number of construction projects per year. The results of this research
will have a significant impact on the economic development of US regions where the
sugar industry is present, such as Florida, Texas, and Hawaii
Medieval Castle Research Paper
Castles have been around for a very long time. A medieval castle was the fortified
home of an important person, such as a lord or king. The medieval period, also
called the Middle Ages, lasted from the 5th century C.E. to the end of the 15th
century. During this time, many castles were built in Europe and the Middle East.
They ranged from simple wooden enclosures to vast stone palaces. The first castleto
be built was in 1000 A.D. Most castles are located in England, France, Spain, Italy,
Germany, and Whales. They were usually dark, clammy, and cold. Castles were
often built on hills or on plains for them to be able to see their enemies. They were
used for many different reasons. Castles were used in a defensive manner, in an
offensive manner, and they were used for people to live in. They would serve
purposes that just a regular place couldn t serve. They were... Show more content on

There were plenty defense systems that a castle would have. The defense systems
helped protect the people that would live in the castle. People s lives often
depended on how well built a castle was some with walls being as thick as twelve
inches. They also had moats, which is a water filled trench that would encircle the
castle. This made it hard for enemies to get close to the castle. Not all castle had
moats, because some were built high up on bedrock and didn t need them. Castles
also had concrete walls, drawbridges, portcullises, and battlements. Castles were
built with a stronghold in the center, which was the last line of defense. Around the
stronghold they would build walls and around those walls they would build more
walls. This would allow everyone to retreat to the middle if the outer wall ever got
breached. Invaders would have to constantly be breaking all the walls to get to the
middle. The draw bridge was a large bridge that would cross over the moat. In times
of peace, it could be let down and used as
Business Ethics, Its Current Practices And Various Aspects
Current Issue pertaining to Business ethics, its current practices and various aspects:
Discrimination related to the employment in the businesses is one of the major
ethical issues nowadays. It creates many problems in the workplace and can reduce
the motivation level, loyalty and commitment with the firms. Discrimination on
workplace can be defined as the imbalanced or unequal treatment with employees
based on biases. This biasness may be based on age, sex, race, ethnicity, nation,
language, religion and disability of employees etc. It is the right of the people to be
treated equally and provision of equal opportunities without any discrimination in any
sense. The discrimination has many forms in the firms like unequal pay
compensations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discrimination affects adversely to the organization due to the increased number of
turnover and low productivity. It also harms the reputation of the organization. When
employees are being treated differently on particular bases, then they lose their focus
on the work and there is wastage of time and resources.
Although the practice of discrimination is unlawful by the Civil Rights Act of 1964
and it is forbidden to discriminate on the basis of color, religion, sex and race, still it
is being practiced in the US on the very large scale.Highest numbers of discrimination
in workplaces were recorded in US in recent age, according to the results of US Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (Triana, Maria). This commission explores
about the issues of discrimination and settles the matters by negotiating with parties
and giving compensation to the employees, who are being discriminated. The
compensation is may be in the form of promotions, cash payments or by providing
the better employment opportunities.
Workplace discrimination is not only ethically wrong but it also causes great
expenses to the employer. It may result in the high rate of turnover, low commitment,
productivity and sometimes
The Parable Of The Good Samaritan
There was an article written by John Darley and Daniel Batson, who was inspired
from the parable of the Good Samaritan and decided to organize a research to test
the limits of people s good will towards something. Later they also published their
research results in a paper in the year of 1973, titled From Jerusalem to Jericho. The
history of the parable of the Good Samaritanwas quite interesting. The research was
conducted based on 3 different hypotheses which they thought might influence
people s helping behavior. One of the hypotheses was that, people that were
thinking in terms of religious would have any effect on helping others. Second one
was that people that are in a rush will be less likely to offer any help to others
compared to the ones that are not in a rush. And the third one is that, people who are
religious, more in a Samaritanfashion, would be more like offer aid than those of a
priest or more of a Levite fashion.
Instead of just analyzing scripture, the researchers put the participants randomly into
various conditions, such as causing some of them to rush somewhere and others to
take their time to go to that same place; making people think from a religious point
of view and for others it was not quite necessary. For the study, both researchers
chose participants from the Princeton Theological Seminary. There was also a 6 point
scale set to measure the helping behavior.
The study began by splitting the participants randomly into two groups, where one of
Siberian Tundra Research Paper
In the Northeastern part of Russia, summers are cold and winters are colder. The
Siberian Tundra is home to many abiotic factors such as strong winds, little
precipitation, and short summers days. With poor soil and permafrost, the tundra
could soon be gone, or at least cause dramatic changes to the earth. According to
Evans (2002), the grounds of the Siberian Tundra are misty during the summer. The
average temperaturein the Tundra is 37 to 54 degrees yet, in these short months of
summer, the Siberian tundra has a permafrost layer that is starts to disappear. This
loss of permafrost is resulting in the rise of carbon emissions, which contributes to
global climatechange. Through research, we can better understand the disappearance
of the permafrost layer in the Siberian tundra. How and why is it disappearing, and
what impact this disappearance is having on the tundra, and on a much larger scale,
the Earth?

Benefits Of Pledging To A Sorority Or Fraternity
Most people when they think of college they think of majors, classes, and getting to

Pledging to a sorority or fraternity means making a life long commitment with people
who then become your said brothers and said sisters, but with pledging comes hazing.
Hazing is humiliating and, in most cases, dangerous initiation rituals, but it is a
typical thing that happens when someone pledges. Although hazing is a tradition and
has always been a part of pledging, it shouldn t be part of the process due to multiple

main doorway into the Supreme Court Building. However, it was not until 1803, that
the Supreme Court administered their power of judicial review by overturning laws
/legislation that were deemed unconstitutional, stating they had taken an oath to
uphold the Constitution (The Court, 2016). The rest is history so to speak.
This paper focuses on the landmark Supreme Court decisions that have changed how
our juvenile justice system operates currently. Starting with the case Kent v. United
States that got the juvenile ball rolling on changing its procedures.

Bullying And School Bullying
Hugues Sampasa Kanyinga, Paul Roumeliotis, and Hao Xu s (2014) study analyzed
the connection between students (7 12 grade students) being bullied through the use
of electronic communication and students bullied at school with three dependent
variables (ideation, planning, and attempt), also part of the purpose was to examine if
depression had any effect on either the independent or dependent variables. Sampasa
Kanyinga et al. investigated the hypothesis that cyberbullying and school bullying
increased the formation of ideas about suicide, planned strategies and the actual try to
commit suicide and how the last three dependent variables were influenced by
depression (p. 2).
The researchers conducted a cross sectional study with a population of students
who were in middle and high school in order to determine if there was a relation
between two different types of bullying with the three dependent variables
previously mentioned (ideation, planning, and attempt) and if depressive
behaviors were mediators of these relations. The sample of participants was
obtained from 49 out of 79 schools in the Eastern Ontario region in Canada that
were eligible to participate in the study. From the 49 schools, only two classes
from each grade were randomly selected. The data was obtained by surveying
students with the Eastern Ontario Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). The
survey contained questions related to the variables being studied and measured.
Besides the questions related to the issues being studied, the survey also included
questions based on covariates such as demography, consumption of liquor and
nicotine, drug use, and inactive physical activity. The completion of the surveys
was supervised by a school facilitator that was in charge of re reading questions
from the survey without causing or directing students to a specific answer. The
data collected from the surveys were reported in tables and analyzed with a 12.0
version of STATA. Descriptive statistics, chi square tests of significance, regression
analysis, Baron and Kenny s approach as well as the Sobel test were used to study
the information derived from the survey (Sampasa Kanyinga et al., 2014, p. 2 4).
After analyzing the collected data, researchers found
A Letter About Fice Essay
Walking into the office, Carrie noticed that everyone seemed tense. She walked to
Melissa s desk, an old friend and coworker, and stated, What s going on? Why does
everyone look so agitated? she said in a low voice. We re about to have a meeting
again because of someone else s mistake, Melissa replied, biting on her lip. What
happened? . Well, Jerry wrote a letter venting about the Boss, and he made a mistake
and sent it to him. What! , Carrie stated. He didn t try to send it to him. His intent
was to send it to Maggie, but he sent it to the Boss instead. And it gets worst Maggie
was also talking about leaving the company as well in the letter. Carrie shook her
head as they walked into the meeting. As the conference started the Boss began to
speak in a manner that no adult should talk to another. He screamed and sculled at
everyone when they had nothing to do with the incident. By the time the meeting was
over many were talking about leaving the company. Some stated that the way he
communicated with them was very unprofessional, and they felt disrespected. Others
stated they were going to file complaints. Personally, I don t think the Boss handled
himself in a professional way. As a leader you must know the role of communication
and effective leadershipotherwise, you will lose your best workers.
Today there are so many methods of communicating with one. You have the ability to
use the internet, phone, handwriting, letter, and the traditional face to face
Data Randomization Essay
3.PROPOSED WORK
Many techniques have been proposed to protect C and C++ programs from memory
error exploits. Several tools analyze the source code to find the vulnerabilities but
they are not sufficient because of imprecise results and raising false alarms.
Many memory safe dialects of C such as Clured and Cyclone that prevents the entire
memory exploit but the limitation with these dialects is that they require the
modification to the source code.
The general working steps of the data randomization is as follows:
Step 1.) Perform static analysis to compute equivalence classes.
Step 2.) Inter Procedural Point To Analysis is used to place the operands of same
object into the same equivalence classes.
Step 3.) Generate Random mask using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When data randomization is applied without using random mask generation method,
the results are predictable and having high performance overhead. On the other hand,
when the results are interpreted using linear congruential method then it reduces the
probability of attack because of unpredictable values and less performance overhead.
4Effectiveness against attacks
To evaluate the effectiveness of data randomization at preventing attacks, a
benchmark is used with synthetic exploits and several exploits of real vulnerabilities
in existing programs are used. This section describes the programs and the
vulnerabilities. It presents an analysis of the security afforded by data randomization.
4.1Synthetic exploits
This benchmark has run the 18 control data attacks that exploit buffer overflow
vulnerabilities. The attacks are classified according to the technique they use to
overwrite control data, the location of the buffer they overflow, and the control data
they target. There are two techniques to overwrite control data. The first
Dental Tips For Dental Assistant
The teeth are one of the most important feature of our body. We use teeth to grind
and chew food every day. Teeth make us look fabulous when we smile at the camera.
Could you imagine if people have lost there teeth, how are they going to look and
how can they chew food? This was the reason I went to dental assisting school and
become a registered dental assistant. After high school, I have attended Concorde

Outsourcing and Hotels
Introduction
What is Outsourcing?
Outsourcing can be defined as a business relationship in which two or more
companies work together to achieve a collective advantage. Rugman et al (2003)
If you look back ten fifteen years ago outsourcing in hotels was not a popular concept
but more recently with the downturn in the economy in the nineteen nineties more
and more hotels are turning to outsourcing to help increase their revenues and
maximize their profit potential. The use of outsourcing enables firms to maximize
their resources and to reinforce their competitive advantage. One of the most popular
areas for outsourcing in hotels would have to be the Food and Beverage sector. The
decision to outsource by many hotels has been ... Show more content on

setting up a new company. The client provides the staff and the assets. The profits
from the company will be divided out as in the agreement.
7.Equity stakes is the strengthening of the outsourcing agreements by either the client

What can be outsourced?
Within a hotel almost every department can be outsourced but not only in hotels in
any industry almost any function can be outsourced. Outsourcing can be undertaken
in some of the following ways of a business process.

Every hotel and property will have many different valid reasons on whether to
outsource or not to outsource. The main operations in a hotel that are most likely to
be outsourced are;
Specialist services where specialised personnel or skills are required
Functions that would have fast changing IT requirements
Operations where recruitment of employees and training of employees is of a high
cost to the hotel
Operations that are labour intensive
The operations which are the commonplace

Alpha Lipoic Neuropathy Report
Alpha Lipoic Acid and Diabetic Neuropathy Name: Ola Taji Student
number:999188383 Alpha Lipoic Acid and Diabetic Neuropathy Introduction Alpha
Lipoic Acid (ALA) (aka thioctic acid), is a naturally occurring substance found in
our diets such as vegetables (spinach, broccolis) and in meat (intestines),also,ALA is
synthesized in our body through the function of different enzymes that take part in
mitochondrial oxidative metabolism found in plants and animals. When ALA is
consumed it gets absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and transported to other
organs in the body, for example, it can cross the blood brain barrier to enter the
brain, or it can go to the liver where ALA gets reduced to its reduced form called
dilhydrolipic acid (DHLA). Both ALA and DHLA have many biochemical functions

The results showed that upon injecting high glucose in the PC12 cells, the activity
of the cells decreased, and it increased the level of ROS, the ratio of ADP/ATP, and
the apoptotic protein (Bax, and caspase 3). However, after injecting ALA the viability
of the cells increased back, ALA also inhibited ROS, ADP/ATP, and the apoptotic
proteins (Bax and caspase 3). Therefore, all of the studies found all showed the same
thing that ALA has positive effect of diabetic neuropathy. Despite all of these results,
there was some limitations in the experiments such as the clarification if the
neuroprotective potential of ALA according to diabetic type, diabetic stage, and also
another limitation is that some of the studies were observational studies. Overall, the
most important thing is that the actually mechanism in which ALA functions in order
to decrease the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy is not yet
The Islamic Movement Of Uzbekist Case Study
Background Content
History and Operating Environment The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU)
was first established in 1997, but can draw its routes from the Adolat (Justice)
movement formed in 1991 by Juma Namagani and Tahir Yuldashev in Namagan,
Uzbekistan (Jane s World, 2014). Adolat declared Namangan an independent Islamic
entity and attempted to enforce sharia (Islamic law) using vigilante methods (Jane s
World, 2014, Group Formation para. 1). The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov,
nervously tried to negotiate with Adolate, but later forced the group out of
Uzbekistan (Sanderson, T., Kimmage, D., Gordon, D., 2010). The Adolate fled arrest
in Uzbekistan and moved to Tajikistan where it supported the United Tajik Opposition

The IMU fought alongside the Taliban during the U.S. led invasion of Afghanistan
and suffered heavy losses, as a result of these the IMU was forced to leave its safe
haven in Afghanistan and to enter the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) of
Pakistan (Sanderson et al, 2010). The IMU conducted several operations in Pakistan
to free jailed militants, which were particularly successful; one of the operations
freed over 300 prisoners, 30 of which were IMU members (Jane s World, 2014). The
IMU continued to operate out of South Waziristan, Pakistan with the Taliban until a
Pakistani Military offensive pushed the group north into North Waziristan, Pakistan
(Sanderson et al, 2010). Each of the operations that forced the IMU to move its
operating base caused heavy losses in the group, but the Pakistani Military announced
its offensive in Waziristan nine months in advance allowing many IMU members the
opportunity to move to safer areas (Sanderson et al, 2010). It is suspected that the
IMU is currently operating out of North Waziristan, Tajikistan, and the Afghani
Provinces of: Balkh, Samangan, Kunduz, Baghlan, and Takhar (Jane s World, 2014).
Objectives and Goals The IMU was originally formed to overthrow the Uzbek
government and oust President Islam Karimov (Jane s World, 2014). When the IMU
allied itself with the Taliban, most of their activities shifted from Uzbekistan to
helping the Taliban fight and regain control in

Italian Immigration To America Essay One of the primary reasons that led to the very different, and very much worse reception of Catholic Italian immigrants in the United States when compared to other Catholic European immigrants, was the attitude Italians held in regards to the country they lived in, the United States. Italian immigrants felt alienated in their new country. They believed that conforming to American values too quickly was a direct threat to their own beliefs (Specifically the domus). This was especially true in the Italian Harlem. However, as Orsi states, the alienation was not a purely internal matter; it was also caused by American xenophobia (Orsi 160). She goes on to say that this discriminating view held by Americans led to Italians being stereotyped as the worker , meaning a threat to take the jobs of Americans born in the United States. This led to almost everything of Italian significance being omitted in schools which led to students getting a sense of Italian inferiority. Teachers and students went as... Children should respect the friends and relatives to their parents and in their behavior conform to the opinions of these friends and relatives. 21. You do need to ensure however that your transmission equipment is compliant with Radio Spectrum Management regulations. Additionally, as is the case with any radio station, all your broadcasts need to comply with the Broadcasting Act. Fundamentally this means your broadcasts must be in good taste. The advantages that a low power FM radio station have over a commercial station is that is is much less expensive to set up at the outset, your likelihood of finding a suitable frequency are much higher, and there are far fewer ongoing costs. When operating a low power FM station, you need to determine who your audience is. If you are broadcasting in an area where there are already a number of resident commercial stations, you may enjoy more success by broadcasting niche programming that appeals to an audience not currently served by the full power FM stations. Alternatively for those who are located in a more rural area or town, you then have the opportunity to set your station up as the local alternative to what is already available. Generally a local station competing against a station being beamed in by satellite from one of the main centres will attract a great deal of local community support. • 5. Infidelity Is Not That Big Of A Deal Infidelity is a tough subject to talk about among people throughout the world. It is commonly known as a violation of trust between married couples and can be considered a touchy subject. As examined in the article by Emily Barrow there are often cases of adultery related to people who are considered happy. These people are faithful for decades but one day they decide to cross a line that they have never crossed before and risk everything they have in their relationship. Although some people have a hard time explaining their reasoning and often time s relationships end throughout the article there are several points to defend infidelity and explain how it is not that big of a deal. My personal opinion is that it should be considered unacceptable not because of any religious matters but out of genuine respect and love for your partner you should keep the promise you made when you were married. Within this paper I will investigate the concept of infidelity and why people decide to cheat on their significant other when everything is perfect at home and when times are tough. Through the use of several economic concepts learned throughout the course I will apply them to my research and establish a final conclusion that will aid me in weather I agree or disagree with the authors analysis. Infidelity is the largest opprobrium around the world. It is well know that adultery will more than often lead to divorce yet Esther Perel a well known psychotherapist, states that divorce is

Early Childhood Education Reflection Paper As I reflect on the past eight weeks, my insights on Early Childhood Education have given me a better understanding of issues and trends in Early Childhood Education. As I mastered this course, I have also become more knowledgeable and understanding of the needs of children and families in my community. Another way that I have been strengthened was through discussions and sharing blogs with my colleagues. On the other hand, researching professional early childhood educationtopics and viewing multimedia presentations were beneficial to my professional growth as well. I felt that the multimedia were definitely the meat of this course. Therefore, I am knowledgeable with information than before. As an early childhood educator, and regarding changing demographics and diversity findings, I am significantly impacted on my professional over my initial reaction. However, I have learned that diversity is challenging, as the invasion of immigrants and refugees into the U.S. from different parts of the world is changing the country s demographics. According to Boutte, G. S. (2008), in a rapidly changing world, some groups have greater societal benefits than others. Therefore, educators should show love as they face the challenge of preparing students from diverse populations by considering their background because of race, ethnicity, gender, class, language, religion, ability or age (p. 166). For this reason, early childhood educators should welcome culturally diverse environments
  • 7. The Contributions Of Frederick Douglass By Frederick Douglas While being educated and defending himself against Mr. Covey were important events in Douglass life, the most important turning point was the day he was able to earn money from work. Being able to earn money reminded him about his plan to attain freedom, made him an important asset to his master, and made freedom a more attainable feat with his ability to hire his time. Earning money allows Douglass to remember the goal he had almost forgotten, freedom. Since Frederick Douglass becomes a such a skilled calker he is able to, command the highest wages given to the most experienced calkers, and he was, now of some importance to [his] master. (92) Since Douglass is giving all his wages to his master, Mr. Hugh, he is allowed to be free during his leisure time. During this time he is reminded of his desire to be free. During these leisure times, these old notions of slavery would steal over me again (92) Douglass says again because while in the employment of Mr. Gardener, he only had time to think about his life and how to protect it. Having more tasks to do than time to do it, he was continuously working, and at times, retaliating against his white overseers. Now that he is living relatively comfortably, it heightens his yearning to be a free man, ...whenever my condition improved...it only increased my desire to be free... If Mr. Hugh had worked Douglass as hard as his previous masters, Douglass would not have been able to think about his plans for freedom because he

Ben presented an earlier version of this paper at the ACTC Student Conference at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, in March, 2011.) When reading the Apology and the Crito of Plato, one inevitably comes upon a seeming fundamental contradiction between the two dialogues. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather, it clears the debate considerably. If the Apology passage is shown to have been made in defiance of an illegal court procedure, then the Apology passage cannot be taken as evidence of Socratic support of civil disobedience. Such evidence, coupled with the obedience to law proscribed in the Crito, allows the supposed contradiction between the two dialogues to be dismissed. In order to analyze the Apology and the Crito in relation to each other, one must first make an assumption that has not been proven to any significant extent. One must assume that the Socrates character within the two dialogues is both consistent and trustworthy in espousing philosophical arguments. By accepting this assumption, one can evaluate the inconsistencies within the two Socratic dialogues as if they were a complete, consistent whole. Following such an assumption, one can examine the philosophy in the Apology in relation to that within the Crito with logical bearing. In order to understand the seeming contradiction between the two works, one must understand the passages on which it is based. This greatly written novel comes from a very active feminist author who used many of her own experiences, as well as things that were happening during that era, in her writing. The Color Purpletakes place in the early 1900 s, and symbolizes the economic, emotional, and social deprivation that African American women faced in Southern states of America. The main character of the story is Celie, a fourteen year old that starts writing letters to God for thirty years, and then to her sister, Nette, who ran away to Africa to save herself from the troubles Celie went through. Celie starts off as a pushover and very dependent girl that would eventually grow and develop into an independent flourishing woman that opens a business making pants for all genders. This novel shows the hardship of a girl becoming a woman over the course of her life and eventually standing up for herself and being confident. Many of the experiences and characters of The Color Purpleare based on history of that time and a bit of the author s personal experiences. Her use of epistolary allows the reader to learn everything in the point of view of Celie. In one hundred years the airplane has been modified and used to create new ways of transportation, but the most important thing is its history. The two brothers which are considered the fathers of modern aviation changed the way people viewed them and the world. Starbucks Promised For The Working Conditions Last year, Starbucks promised that they would improve the working conditions and scheduling of their employees, but the company has not lived up to their promise yet. The managers want to keep labor costs as low as possible which has resulted in understaffing and making employees work long days, sometimes even making them close one night and open the next morning, which is known as a clopening . Autonomy, one of the most important job characteristics of motivation, seems to be very low in this situation for multiple reasons. First, the workers are not able to choose their own work schedule, the company provides them with when they are scheduled to work. This alone decreases motivation, but the fact that some workers are scheduled for clopenings further lowers their autonomy. Most workers would not mind opening or closing as long as they do not have to do both back to back. One way to fix this would be to allow workers to choose their own schedules. If Starbucks used an online scheduling program where every worker could input what times they wanted to work over the next two weeks or so, employees would be much happier with their schedules. The workers would have a minimum and maximum amount of hours they could work in the given time period, a minimum and maximum amount of employees that could work at the same time, and a minimum shift length. This scheduling process could also ensure that no employee performs a clopening if it is

It is not uncommon for someone in college to have a job, family, exercise ambitions, trying to maintain a social life, all on top of studying for tests and doing homework. Telling yourself that you will just do the assignment in the morning is very unrealistic when you know you should just do it right then and there. This is why picking a specific time to do homework can be beneficial. If you have your whole day planned out then your daily activities are less likely to get in the way of one another. This then leads into my next strategy suggestion which is getting the new student to think about how their schedule will open up more if they just get the task done early on in the week. Just thinking about getting all of your homework done before the weekend can be a really big motivator. According to the last video, The Power of Yet, rewarding yet (your goal being accomplished) and the strategy and progress is very important. You can reward yourself in whatever way you see fit for each task. No one wants to sit at home on the weekends and do homework when they could be out spending time with friends or family. Mistake can be defined by Pendleton , Vickery (1998), [1] as; вћў A misunderstanding regarding a fact, causing one or more parties to hold disagreeing beliefs about the foundation of a contract. Mistakes can be made in the form of a contracts subject matter or as a mistake of identity. In a case like this the only thing the plaintiff can do is find the crook and sue him for the amount lost. There are two ways a court will decide if the contract is made void for mistake or not. If the contract was made face to face or at a distance (eg. on the phone or by letter) вћў At a distance This was first applied in the case Cundy v Lindsay (1878)[10] where a crook had pretended to be a regular customer of the company and ordered a substantial amount of goods. Once in possession of the goods he sold them on to an innocent third party who bought them at a reasonable price (good faith). The company then took action against the innocent third party under the grounds of mistake. It was held in this case that the plaintiff was mistaken as to the identity of the crook and the contract was made void, on the grounds that the plaintiff thought they

Absorbance and Spectrophotometry Experiment 2: Absorbance and Spectrophotometry ABSTRACT: This was an investigation into the effects of different wavelengths of light on methylene blue and carmine red on the absorbance value on a spectrophotometer. A spectrophotometer is used to measure light intensity by emitting a single light source through a cuvette of coloured solution. The particles in the solution, which are coloured, absorb the light depending on how concentrated it is and this produces an electronic reading from the photometer which is the absorbance value. The maximum absorption was found for both solutions and was used to calculate the molar extinction coefficient of methylene blue. An unknown concentration of methylene blue was calculated by using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 4. Graph showing dilutions of methylene blue and the absorptions each solution gives The black line on figure 4 represents the regression line. We can use this to find the concentration of the unknown concentration of methylene blue solution by drawing a tangent to the regression line at absorbance 0.262 (where the unknown absorbed) and reading down from that point on the graph to the concentration. The concentration of the unknown methylene blue is 4.4 x 10 6 mol dm 3. We can find the molar extinction coefficient by substituting values of absorbance and the concentration of the unknown concentration of methylene blue into Beer s laws equation. Absorbance = k c t k = absorbance / c t k = 0.262 / 4.4 x 10 6 x 1 k = 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3 Therefore, k, the molar extinction coefficient is 59545 mol dm 3 cm 3. DISCUSSION: The main objectives of this experiment was to find the unknown concentration of methylene blue by using a spectrophotometer. I found the maximum absorption for methylene blue and carmine red (please refer to figure 1) and using this I determined a more accurate maximum absorption value for each solution by taking further readings around the peak of each line to determine the maximum. However, the findings of maximum absorption for methylene blue and carmine red may not be as

In early eighteenth century France had a very defined political and social order known as the ancien rГ©gime. This meant that France was an absolute monarchy which was fostered by King Louis XIV by showing the divine right of Kings. This was accomplished by building an extravagant palace where nobles would live with the royal family, and draw in people that would have normally been adversaries to the throne, and then turned them into allies by the draw for a luxurious life in court. Just as society was beginning to see the nobility in a lesser light these societal parallels extend to the Countess and Susanna s departure from the idea of their mere servitude. In fact, their clever plot to trap the count in his own immoral act showed the independence that women could and would eventually gain. Not only did their ingenuity display the power that women could have in society, but through the Count s heart felt apology to his wife, they demonstrated the need for women. As mentioned earlier these character s actions and personalities are representative of a societal norm and change of the time period. The Count showed the changing power of the nobility. The Countess displayed the increased authority of women not only in their homes but in the ruling class. Susanna demonstrated the budding feminism that was overcoming the exploitation of the feminine sex. Figaro s ability to eventually marry his bride of choice over nobilities desire was indicative of societies movement from the superiority of nobility. Even Marcellina s desire to take the young Figaro s hand in marriage displayed the attention that society was beginning to show the value

Shakespeare is one of the world s most renown play writers in the world, for, his playwrights discuss almost all forms of error found in human nature. His play, Hamlet, is one of the second most famous plays out of all which conveys that man cannot always be courageous and content. Throughout the play, Shakespeare creates numerous conflicts between characters. Mainly, Hamlethimself has tensions between other characters. The reason Shakespeare may do this is to exemplify the differences between Hamlet and another character. Through the use of soliloquies, Shakespeare highlights the cowardice, gloomy traits of Hamlet which ultimately allows the audience to determine that Hamlet is a cowardly, miserable man in comparison to another character in the play like Prince Fortinbras. After promising to avenge his father s death, Hamlet s state of mindturns for the worst. As the play develops, Hamlet becomes less and less of a leader whom people look up to and more and more of a cowardly man. Hamlet comes to realize this himself, and it also becomes evident to the audience in a soliloquy from Act 4, Scene 4. In this scene from the play, Hamlet is being taken to England and along the way he comes across Fortinbras and his army. Hamlet assumes that Fortinbras has his mind set on taking the entire country of Poland, but really it is only for a small amount of land. Following his encounter, Hamlet begins to ponder. It is within these thoughts that Shakespeare reveals Hamlet s true

The sugar industry will be directly affected, since the main goal of this research project is to develop a sugarcane bagasse ash based product that can be used as an additive for concrete mixes. Due to the known properties and chemical composition of sugarcane bagasse, it is expected that this new product will be competitive with fly ash in terms of improving the properties of concrete mixes. The newly added economic value of bagasse ash may also make it economically advantageous to burning the entire stock of bagasse fiber for electricity production beyond the needs of the sugar mills. The local construction industry will be indirectly affected by the availability of an additive for concrete production with a lower cost and similar properties to fly ash. This new bagasse ash based product is expected to reduce the construction costs of projects requiring large amounts of concrete (e.g., foundations, concrete bridges), thus, leading to a potential increase in the number of construction projects per year. Later they also published their research results in a paper in the year of 1973, titled From Jerusalem to Jericho. The history of the parable of the Good Samaritanwas quite interesting. The research was conducted based on 3 different hypotheses which they thought might influence people s helping behavior. One of the hypotheses was that, people that were thinking in terms of religious would have any effect on helping others. Second one was that people that are in a rush will be less likely to offer any help to others compared to the ones that are not in a rush. And the third one is that, people who are religious, more in a Samaritanfashion, would be more like offer aid than those of a priest or more of a Levite fashion. Instead of just analyzing scripture, the researchers put the participants randomly into various conditions, such as causing some of them to rush somewhere and others to take their time to go to that same place; making people think from a religious point of view and for others it was not quite necessary. For the study, both researchers chose participants from the Princeton Theological Seminary. There was also a 6 point scale set to measure the helping behavior. Sampasa Kanyinga et al. investigated the hypothesis that cyberbullying and school bullying increased the formation of ideas about suicide, planned strategies and the actual try to commit suicide and how the last three dependent variables were influenced by depression (p. 2). The researchers conducted a cross sectional study with a population of students who were in middle and high school in order to determine if there was a relation between two different types of bullying with the three dependent variables previously mentioned (ideation, planning, and attempt) and if depressive behaviors were mediators of these relations. The sample of participants was obtained from 49 out of 79 schools in the Eastern Ontario region in Canada that were eligible to participate in the study. From the 49 schools, only two classes from each grade were randomly selected. The data was obtained by surveying students with the Eastern Ontario Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). Alpha Lipoic Neuropathy Report Alpha Lipoic Acid and Diabetic Neuropathy Name: Ola Taji Student number:999188383 Alpha Lipoic Acid and Diabetic Neuropathy Introduction Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) (aka thioctic acid), is a naturally occurring substance found in our diets such as vegetables (spinach, broccolis) and in meat (intestines),also,ALA is synthesized in our body through the function of different enzymes that take part in mitochondrial oxidative metabolism found in plants and animals. When ALA is consumed it gets absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract and transported to other organs in the body, for example, it can cross the blood brain barrier to enter the brain, or it can go to the liver where ALA gets reduced to its reduced form called dilhydrolipic acid (DHLA). Both ALA and DHLA have many biochemical functions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results showed that upon injecting high glucose in the PC12 cells, the activity of the cells decreased, and it increased the level of ROS, the ratio of ADP/ATP, and the apoptotic protein (Bax, and caspase 3). However, after injecting ALA the viability of the cells increased back, ALA also inhibited ROS, ADP/ATP, and the apoptotic proteins (Bax and caspase 3). Therefore, all of the studies found all showed the same thing that ALA has positive effect of diabetic neuropathy. Despite all of these results, there was some limitations in the experiments such as the clarification if the neuroprotective potential of ALA according to diabetic type, diabetic stage, and also another limitation is that some of the studies were observational studies. Overall, the most important thing is that the actually mechanism in which ALA functions in order to decrease the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy is not yet

The Islamic Movement Of Uzbekist Case Study Background Content History and Operating Environment The Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) was first established in 1997, but can draw its routes from the Adolat (Justice) movement formed in 1991 by Juma Namagani and Tahir Yuldashev in Namagan, Uzbekistan (Jane s World, 2014). Adolat declared Namangan an independent Islamic entity and attempted to enforce sharia (Islamic law) using vigilante methods (Jane s World, 2014, Group Formation para. 1). The President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, nervously tried to negotiate with Adolate, but later forced the group out of Uzbekistan (Sanderson, T., Kimmage, D., Gordon, D., 2010). The Adolate fled arrest in Uzbekistan and moved to Tajikistan where it supported the United Tajik Opposition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The IMU fought alongside the Taliban during the U.S. led invasion of Afghanistan and suffered heavy losses, as a result of these the IMU was forced to leave its safe haven in Afghanistan and to enter the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) of Pakistan (Sanderson et al, 2010). The IMU conducted several operations in Pakistan to free jailed militants, which were particularly successful; one of the operations freed over 300 prisoners, 30 of which were IMU members (Jane s World, 2014). The IMU continued to operate out of South Waziristan, Pakistan with the Taliban until a Pakistani Military offensive pushed the group north into North Waziristan, Pakistan (Sanderson et al, 2010). Each of the operations that forced the IMU to move its operating base caused heavy losses in the group, but the Pakistani Military announced its offensive in Waziristan nine months in advance allowing many IMU members the opportunity to move to safer areas (Sanderson et al, 2010). It is suspected that the IMU is currently operating out of North Waziristan, Tajikistan, and the Afghani Provinces of: Balkh, Samangan, Kunduz, Baghlan, and Takhar (Jane s World, 2014). Objectives and Goals The IMU was originally formed to overthrow the Uzbek government and oust President Islam Karimov (Jane s World, 2014). When the IMU allied itself with the Taliban, most of their activities shifted from Uzbekistan to helping the Taliban fight and regain control in
