A Study of the Trans Texas Corridor and How it Affects Texans
Everything is bigger in Texas. That s what a lot of Texans what Americans and people around the
world to know you don t mess with Texas. In the 1950 s, when President Eisenhower created the
first Interstate plan for the country and implemented new roads in almost every single state, it was
the largest engineering feat in the modern world. Now, almost half a century later, Governor Rick
Perry is set to break that record, with the costliest, largest, and most incredible sized proportion

Laredo contains 40% of the United States land ship import traffic. Also, any traveler on the I 35
corridor in Texas runs into hundreds of eighteen wheelers, increasing drivers awareness and
causing disarray for drivers who are trying to see the road in front of them. Perry s answer is to
shift the traffic away from metropolitan areas. If truck drivers can bypass San Antonio, Austin,
and Dallas, the time to their destination would probably save them an entire day in travel. Freight
rail services could veer away from San Antonio s railroad yard, an institution bustling with activity
in the wee hours of the morning. Also, commuter rail can solve environmental problems and help
families keep in touch anywhere in the state without the over burdening costs of driving (Perry).
Perry s plan begins with the setup itself: Six, twelve foot vehicle passenger lanes in which the
vehicle can travel at 80 miles per hour; Four, thirteen foot truck lanes; Two tracks for each of the
following railroad establishments high speed rail, commuter rail, and freight rail. No transportation
facility exists like this in the modern world. All of these integrations to modern society are
completely bundled into one, and their concept is all the same relieve traffic in urban centers and
create a safe and enjoyable experience through the Texas countryside without interruption

Reflexive Transparency, Mental Content, and Externalism
It has been disputed whether an externalist conception of the individuation of intentional states,
such as beliefs and desires, is compatible with self knowledge, that is, the claim that one s
judgments about one s intentional states are non evidential, non inferential, and authoritative. I
want to argue that these theses are indeed incompatible, notwithstanding an important objection to
this incompatibility claim. The worry has been raised that if externalism is true, then for a subject to
know, say, that he or she believes that p, the subject would need to know, on the basis of some
evidence, the external conditions which determine the belief s content. Thus, externalism would be

And thus externalism would be incompatible with self knowledge. But many philosophers have
accepted an objection suggesting that this worry is mistaken, because even if one s belief content is
externally determined, one need not know the external conditions determining that content in order
to have the belief. And, thus, the subject s reflexive judgment about the belief would not need to
rest on evidence about those external conditions.(2) But this objection rests, in turn, on a crucial
assumption according to which mental content is reflexively transparent in the sense that a subject
could not judge that she has an intentional state and be mistaken about the content of her state, even
if content is externally determined.(3)
My main purpose is to question this crucial assumption. Now the claim that mental content is
reflexively transparent is extremely compelling and, if it is correct while externalism is true, then
this would indeed support the compatibility of externalism and self knowledge. But, I want to argue
that mental content is not reflexively transparent on the assumption of externalism. If my argument
is correct, the upshot is that self knowledge and

The Software Development Life Cycle Essay
The waterfall method is a linear, sequential, non iterative process for software development first
mentioned by Herbert Benington in 1956. The software development life cycle (SDLC) is defined
by Ruparelia as a conceptual framework or process that considers the structure of the stages in
volved in the development of an application from its initial feasibility study through to its deploy
ment in the field and maintenance (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This method is so named waterfall
because the stages of the SDLC cascade down through the stages of product consideration, re
quirements, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and review/maintenance. In the
1970s, Winston Royce built on the waterfall modelto incorporate iteration and stage review. Royce
s intent was to address the central role that the design phase plays in minimizing risks by being re
visited several times (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This later form of the waterfall model assumes that
continual feedback is required to ensure additional updates/improvements are implemented, and is
therefore necessitated by the requisite updates that subsequent testing phases bring to light. The
most significant difference between the original waterfall method of Benington and Royce s
modified form is the need to re iterate and validate that no further updates/revisions are required in
prior stages before moving on to the next phase. In some circumstances, there may even be a need
to skip a previous phase to

Psychodynamic Personality Profile of Johnny Depp Essay
Personality, like most core Psychology subjects, is difficult to define. Personality is essentially
the science of describing and understanding people. No two people are the same; even identical
twins will tell you that they are very different to their identical counterpart. There are some who
are anxious and there are those who are risk takers. There are some who are carefree while there
are those who are highly strung and there are those who are over confident while some are just
plain shy. It is this issue of differences that are fundamental to the study and examination of
personality.
Johnny Depp, born June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky self proclaimed barbeque capital of the
world has led an interesting life filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research also shows indicates that the Big Five has distinct biological substrates thereby linking
trait perspective with the biological perspective (DeYoung, Quilty Peterson, 2007). However this
convergence of perspectives is actually productive in that all perspectives by themselves have their
disadvantages as well as their advantages. If all perspectives can coincide with one another,
explanations of personality will become so much easier.
The psychoanalytic perspective is the most interesting theory of the analysis of an individual and
their personality. Initially developed by Freud during the latter half of the 1900s, it deals with,
among other things, the irrational and less predictable patterns of behaviour and human thinking,
which is what most other theories of personality often leave out and are criticised for it. In
understanding Johnny Depp, a psychodynamic perspective best accounts for his personality: as a
complete theory, it can explain his behaviour from when he was a child to becoming a famous
movie star, integrates other theories into its analysis, such as Evolutionary and Learning
perspectives, thus providing a fairly reliable and accurate interpretation of his personality.
As a kid, Johnny Depp had a troublesome childhood. His father was continually searching for
secure work in order to support his family, resulting in them moving around a lot, living in motels,
shifting from place to place. This no doubt took a

Kvothe In Patrick Rothfuss s The Name Of The Wind
The lifestyle of a troupe of traveling performers, the meticulous science behind arcane magic, and
the truth of the evil entities known as Chandrian. All of these subjects are touched upon within
Patrick Rothfuss s The Name of the Wind, the first book of a three part fantasy series telling the
tale of Kvothe, a man of brilliance, bravery, beauty, and most of all, bad luck (Alliteration). So far
within the novel, Kvothe (who now goes as Kote) is regaling his legacy to Chronicler for history s
sake, describing the death of his parents at the hands of demons, his punitive years in the alleyways
of Tarbean, and his budding enrollment to the University. Although I have yet to finish the book, I
am able to evaluate the character of Kvothe, connect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One prediction is that Kvothe will meet Denna again: some people say there was a woman ,
says Chronicler to Kvothe (Rothfuss 49). Kvothe responds by abruptly (and angrily) cutting
him off. As the beginning of the book actually occurs in the future of most of the story, this
comment inclines there is a woman that drastically affects Kvothe. The reason I believe that
woman to be Denna is that she is the only female so far in the book that Kvothe has shown an
interest to. Entire pages were spent describing how benevolent she is, of her goodness and
grace. It would be odd if those descriptions were meaningless and Kvothe and she were never to
meet again. Another prediction is that Master Hemme will be the one who gets Kvothe kicked
out of the University. He is an insidious and spiteful man, attempting to humiliate Kvothe in front
of his class and, when this backfired, trying to expel Kvothe for not simply rolling over and
accepting his fate of being inferior. Master Hemme may not be well liked in the school, but he
does hold a substantial amount of sway within the University. It is already made clear that Kvothe
is expelled from the school at the young age, and because of his adversity to Hemme, the Master is

Corruption Of Power
Power is wanted by many people across the universe, and those that gain it are privileged to many
advantages in life. Power can be a good thing and a bad thing, mostly depending on what type of
person gains the power, but in the end, everyone is the same. Great power has the potential to lead
to corruption of the individual, leading to great overlooked weaknesses.
One example of this phenomenon would be the story of Tom Riddle, who, through power s
corruption and pure dark magic, was transformed into a snakelike abomination that struck fear
into the hearts of all. As a young boy, he sought power over the other children in the orphanage
at which he stayed, often bullying them both physically and mentally, at one point even hanging
a boy s pet rabbit from the attic rafters. As he grew older, he fell further under the seduction of
power, leading him to transform into the monster known as Lord Voldemort. In the end, he
became obsessed with eternal life, performing many deeds in pursuit of immortality, which
included the drinking of unicorn s blood and the creation of several Horcruxes. Because of all
the things he had done to preserve his life and gain eternal power while doing so, he lived 13
years of his life as a spirit like entity, only possessing the ability to possess animals. In the end,
having been depleted of his Horcruxes, he perished by the wand of the only wizard capable of
doing the job, Harry Potter, and consequently, suffered the rest of eternity as a pathetic minuscule
form of a human, trapped in limbo forever.
Another example, can be made of Saruman the White, who when confronted with the opportunity to
gain great power under the Dark Lord Sauron, chased his chance to rule part of Middle Earth. He
served Sauron with complete allegiance, using Isengard as the main birthing site of Sauron s
forces, namely the Uruk hai. He was the servant who publicly commanded Sauron s forces, and is
the one that led the opposition against the Fellowship of the Ring for most the War of the Ring. In
the end, his fortress of Isengard was vanquished by a squad of Ents, led by Treebeard, along with
hobbits Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took. After the battle, Saruman, standing atop his tower
was brutally

Eileen Gray s Design And Design
I have picked these furniture pieces because it doesn t have any social or cultural influences on
the design. Back in the 1920 s and 1930 s the society was still stuck in the Art Deco period while
the old design with flower patterns and fabric was very common however Eileen s design used
materials like tubular steel, aluminium and glass and people were lacking interest for Eileen Grays
furniture because it was an unusual design for them. Here is the comparison of what the society
would have wanted at the time vs what Eileen Gray designed:

Therefore she didn t restrict her design to what the current technology was capable of producing.
Eileen knew that it was going to be difficult to produce her furniture but she also knew that it wasn
t going to be impossible.
As the technology improved, making furniture didn t take as much time as it would in the past as
they had to make the furniture by hand. Also the identical furniture being produced had the same
size and shape. This was the key to successful mass production. Therefore it was possible to give
life to Eileen Gray s furniture design.
THE DAYBED
Finally, the last piece of furniture I have decided on is the Daybed. Eileen Gray was passionate
about history therefore her knowledge of the history had influenced her design of The Daybed.
Gray was influenced by the Provencal and Mediterranean culture of Siesta when she was
designing the daybed. As I am from Turkey, I feel very comfortable with the Mediterranean
Culture. I believe that the Daybed designed by Eileen Gray reminds me of the large divans that
Turkish people used to have in their Salons (sitting rooms) for their guest to feel comfortable
sitting and facing any direction they like with no back rest and no arms on either side. Also they
don t need to leave and go to their guest rooms to relax where they can easily just lie down and
feel comfortable on these large divans and still be around with the people they love.
Eileen Gray had the same idea of making her

Junot Diaz s Drown Character Analysis
Thesis: The family dynamic, including culture and structure, in Junot Diaz s Drown influenced the
protagonists life decisions along with his belief.
As mentioned in the book Yunior s family immigrated from the Dominican Republic, which
affected Yunior s future with cultural expectations and societal judgement. In the Dominican
culture men are expected to be masculine and breadwinners () for the household but this is not the
situation in Yunior s family. As mentioned before Yunior s father left him when he was 7 years old
(), and her mother provided for both Yunior and his older brother. Despite not having a father the
expectations of being macho was still prevalent for Yunior as he resided in a Dominican
neighbourhood in New Jersey. Another subject which may be discussed in the topic of masculinity
is Beto, Yunior s best friend, and the homosexual experiences between the two. Before abandoning
the family, Yunior s father helps them move to the US, which forces them to chase after the
American Dream (). The family immigrated from the Dominican Republic to escape poverty, but
they still lived under the poverty line in the USA. Although, government funds to the Dominican ()
helped the families be better off than they were in the Dominican. Dominicans are a minority in
the USA which means that finding a well paying job is difficult unless you are very talented or
have a good education. Opportunities will not be handed to Yunior he will have to work hard for

Pyramid Discipleship Essay
Pyramid Discipleship Discipleship in a mega church
One of the hardest things to do when you are in a mega church is creating a community of
genuine discipleship and not just a Sunday Church . It can seem like a giant task to take on when
looked at head first because creating personal relationships with a thousand or more people is a
lot of relationships, but there are ways to do it, and following the mold of pyramid discipleship can
be very effective.
So what is it?
Pyramid discipleship is a system set up in a way to where one person will only take on 5 to 10 (at
the very most) people at a time to disciple. And as they continue in their discipling there will be
others above them to disciple them as they go. When you actually look at this inside of the
church it becomes clearer and easier to understand. At the top of the pyramid would be the senior
pastor, a maybe some of the elders or other staff members. Moving down the pyramid would be
the staff that would oversee the discipleship program. Weather this be one or two people, this is
where the discipleship starts. These leaders will be discipled by the elders or senior pastor, this is

life, and life in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With what kind of hearts? Part of what we are giving to our leaders is the ongoing discipleship
they will have. This is the same thing our leaders are giving to their disciples. Along with that
we will hold different fellowship nights to give our leaders a night of rest and fun as they can
come and eat and talk to the other leaders. This will also be available for the leaders to hold for
their own groups. We want true, genuine, Christ like hearts of love for this to be done at all. If it
does not stem from love, then it is nothing we want to promote. From the beginning we will push
the idea of having a loving heart and always leading from that same

Rapa Nui Theory
Easter Island, or Rapa Nui as the island s natives would say, is a small remote island taking up
approximately 65 square miles of Chilean territory. Rapa Nui acquired the name Easter Island
when a dutch explorer, Jacob Roggeveen, and his voyagers came across the island by mistake
while enroute for a different island on Easter Sunday in 1722. This volcanic island is located
over 2,000 miles off the coast of Chile, but still remains part of the Polynesian Islands. Being
founded by Polynesians, the island soon became heavily influenced by Polynesian culture. Many
myths and traditions carry out the history of the island before Dutch explorers discovered Rapa
Nui and conquered the land but some things of Rapa Nui remain a mystery. However, one of...

Many theories are passed as myth for their outlandish spiritual explanations. For example, a myths
tells how the statues descended down from the heavens and once roamed the lands of Rapa Nui
before the first inhabitants had taken over. However, more logical and realistic speculations linger
in the minds of archaeologists and historians of today. The most plausible theory to date, after
archaeologists performed a demonstrative experiment, concludes that the Moai were built inside
quarries dug into the side of the Rano Raraku volcano.on the eastern edge of the island. They
began as very large, rectangular stone blocks, laying out flat with a base below them to hold
them to the bedrock. In this phase, a master carver and his crew of approximately 15 carvers
would begin working on the face, just barely carving the outline of the facial features with a pick
known as a toki in Rapa Nui. After a full outline of the face was roughly carved, the master carver
and his team would then insert all the definitive attributes that would differentiate the various
chiefs. This juncture of the Moai construction explains a suitable amount of knowledge to a small
portion of how these statues were supposedly formed, but what still remains is how could they
have been stood up and placed onto their

The setting is the basis upon which the story of a novel develops, as it has a tremendous effect on
what happens in the story. In the novel Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata the setting plays a
pivotal role in highlighting prominent themes such as, Loneliness, Wasted Love and Wasted
Beauty. Snow country is the literal translation of the Japanese title Yukiguni . The name comes
from where the story takes place or rather where the story is set ; a village (rural area) on an island
in Japan that receives a huge amount of snow during the season of winter . The title Snow Countryit

the loneliness in the characters of the novel.
The setting of the story which is cold and isolated; for instance The train came out of the long

in the atmosphere at the beginning. Even though Kawabata has chosen a Japanese landscape
vibrant in natural beauty as the setting for a fleeting love story the isolation of the entire region
adds effect to the theme of loneliness and aids to the characters development. Shimamura isolates
himself from his family and from the world to visit a resort in an isolated region where he has a
rather mundane relationship which is fleeting like snow, with a geisha (Komako) who suffers from
Loneliness; it is evident that the setting influences the development of the character s characteristic.

The call to action is clear for EBP and evaluation strategies. To that end, the ten (10) steps applied
for framing a simulation informatics infrastructure in the academic environment are presented in
this graphic as an approach to outcomes for process evaluation in setting the stage for simulation
integration.
The Approach to Outcomes
The initial step in the approach call for needs/resource appraisals: It is within this frame that the
realities of environment relevance and requirements must be considered. This may involve but not
limited to (not exhaustive listings) gathering relevant data to describe outfitting required in the
physical environment, supply inventory /requirements, technology capacities (system networking,
audio video, data to describe resources available for blending new/existing), staffing, scheduling ,
orientations, trainings. This is sometimes referred to as an academic environment transformation
event which will vary in scope and scale based on the appraisal of resources available. The human
capital aspect is essential to the simulation integration process for the purpose of aligning people
with the strategy. The key objective is to close skill gaps in strategic Simulation Center positions

most celebrated and romanticized, in particular within the sphere of popular culture, for its creative

Since the environment among a school is not that of a clinic or an outside counseling practice,
certain planning needs to occur while forming groups. Rather than client s willingly signing up or
seeking out a group, a survey would be completed by faculty and staff to identify potential group
members. Students would also participate in the survey process, giving perception of their needs.
These surveys would be a form of data collection necessary in addressing needs that could otherwise

Expectations, participation and confidentially would also be discussed. From these meetings, the
counselor would then be able to determine the student s interest level and seriousness of need or

Crime is defined as an act which is prohibited by criminal law. These criminal activities are
prohibited for the protection of society as a whole, or a section of society. Each country has its own

Individuals that had these features were considered to be a more primitive type of human being.
Among the features which Lombroso identified were the following: an over sized brain; squinting
eyes; prominent eye brows and a projecting jaw.
Lombroso believed that these primitive humans could not adjust socially or morally to civilised
society, could not distinguish right from wrong, had no remorse or guilt and therefore could not
form meaningful relationships. Lombroso determined, Some people are born with a strong, innate
predisposition to behave antisocially, (L Uomo Delinquente, Lombroso, 1876).
Evaluation of Lombroso s Theory
Lombroso made a major contribution to establishing the study of criminal behaviour and was
responsible for moving the study of criminology towards scientific research, indicating that
biological influences could affect criminality.
However Lombroso s experiments cannot be considered to be valid because he never compared
his criminal sample to a non criminal control group or took account of racial and ethical
differences. He recorded inaccurate measurements, which were not based on proper statistical
techniques or an accurate understanding of human physique. Also a large proportion of Lombroso s
sample had psychological disorders. This would mean that there was no

The aim of this experiment is to investigate the effect of leading questions on eyewitness testimony

questions in total. The first question was regarding the speed of the car with contrasting verbs
(crashed/collided), the second questionasked was whether there was any glass at the scene of the

The hypothesis predicted that changing the language used in eyewitness testimony will affect
memory. The DV was the participants estimated speed of the vehicles, and the IV was the noun that
was changed in the leading question (crashed/collided). The independent measures design was

Japanese Economic Development Post World War Ii
World War II left many powerful nations in smoke and rubble. The deconstruction of many
countries gave them the chance to rebuild their cities and economies. No country took more
advantage of this opportunity than Japan. Japan was a huge militaristic power in World War II .
Their aggressive behavior caused them to be stripped of their military and their power for self rule.
The demilitarization of Japan changed the country s focus from world militaristic domination to
world economic domination. The country established free trade, manufactured goods, and
improved and invented technology, making themselves one of the largest economic superpowers
in the world. World War II exploded across Europe and the rest of the world in 1939.

temporary leader of Japan, MacArthur had some of his own ideas for the born again country.
Although he was a conservative American in politics, he fostered many democratic reforms for the
Japanese government (Britannica). He also encouraged the government to legalize labor unions and

establishment of a new constitution. When Japanese efforts to write a new constitution proved
inadequate, MacArthur s government prepared its own draft and presented it to the Japanese
government. It was endorsed by the Emperor and went into effect on May 3, 1947 (Britannica). On

The Problem of Acid Rain Essay
The Problem of Acid Rain
WHAT CAUSES ACID RAIN
When power stations, factories, houses and cars release pollution into the air it has chemicals in it
called sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
SULPHUR DIOXIDE: Man made sulphur dioxide comes mainly from burning fossils fuels in
power stations. It then mixes with water in the atmosphere to make sulphuric acid, which will later
fall as acid rain.
NITROGEN OXIDES: Nitrogen oxides are also man made and mainly come from car exhausts.
These gases also go into the atmosphere and mix with water to form nitric acid, which once again
falls as acid rain.

This makes it easier for fungi and insects to attack the tree, and as a result the tree may die.
Acid rain not only damages soil but can also affect the trees directly. Pollutants can block or
damage the little pores on the leaves through which the plant takes in the air it needs to survive.
LAKES AND WATER Acid rain can damage the water and the wildlife in lakes. A lake that has
been affected by acid rain looks clean and crystal clear, but contains no life. Most wild plants and
animals that live in clean, unpolluted lakes cannot live in acid waters.
Fish are poisoned by the aluminium which is washed out of the ground into the lakes. Lakes also
receive rainfall directly from the sky.
A healthy lake has a pH of around 6.5 and a large number of plants, insects and fish can live there.
In addition, there are a number of animals and birds that feed on the plentiful food in a healthy lake.
As the lake becomes more acidic (the pH gets smaller) the fish find it more difficult to reproduce
successfully, as the young fish find it difficult to live in the high levels of acidity and die. It is not
only the acid in the water that kills them, but also poisonous minerals like aluminium that are
washed out of the surrounding ground into the water. The birds that eat the fish also begin to suffer

Analyse The Importance Of Early Intervention In Children
I have learnt that language can be cognitive, material or social (Gee Hayes, 2011). Some view
language as a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people about how to communicate
such as classroom or sporting rules, often supplied in books and followed by people. Children don t
read books so social conventions need to be taught by modelling behaviour and communication.
With the exception of severe disabilities or social problems, all humans acquire language as a core
of basic property of their humanity called vernacular which is used in everyday life Gee Hayes
(2011, p. 8). I believe that this is why early intervention is so important; not to label a child; but to
better support them for further education. Most humans can learn

The Nuclear Bomb Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Essay
The nuclear bombs code named Little Boy and Fat Man were detonated over the Japanese cities
of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the summer of August 1945 by the United States of America
in an attempt to end World War II. The immediate death toll was extremely high with an
estimated 60,000 to 80,000 people killed upon impact of the bombs due to the extreme heat,
flying shrapnel, and the pressure of the blast wave. The overall death toll is now estimated to be
about 192,020 dead due to long term health effects such as radiation poisoning and burns. These
bombs also caused a multitude of long term medical and social problems for surviving victims
such as in utero mutations in future generations of children and a large percentage of homeless
citizens after the war. As a result of these bombs the Japanese emperor Hirohito accepted the
terms of the Potsdam Declaration ending World War II. These bombings remain the single most
horrific acts of warfare ever carried out on another country. Thousands of Japanese citizens were
immediately disintegrated upon impact of the bombs by the thermal radiation released near the
hypocenter or ground zero of the explosion, death rates decreasing the further out from the
hypocenter. Second and third degree burns on the flesh were a result of very high degrees of
thermal radiation on the human body and so only occurred within close proximity to the atomic
blast, that being around five miles. If these third and second degree burns covered only a

Little Flower Character Analysis
Employing household names, rather than less known actors, Jia reduces the possibility for
audiences, especially the Chinese, of jumbling up the interviewing with acting. In other words, the
intention of docuficiton is not to gloss over the conflicts between the natural and artificial, but to
highlight the difference and to show the self conscious about mimicry in representation (Deppman
205). The quality of self reflexivity is most explicit in the case of Gu Minhua, played by veteran
actor Joan Chen, who was given the nickname, Little Flower, because she resembles the heroine in
the one time popular movie, Little Flower, which in reality was starred by Joan herself. Later comes
the scene where Gu Minhua is watching Little Flower. The juxtaposition between the character
/actress and her representative work further parodies the boundary between the fact and fiction, and
the authority of one single voice in the process of conceptualising the time space. In the context of
China, it confronts the hegemony of revolutionary realism since Mao era till today, referring to a
powerful delusion to justify the Chinese past, and to generate political passions for the present and
future (Donald 273). The revolutionary realism is similar to the Aristotelian drama in Brecht s
sense, which provides a hypnotic experience by alluring spectators to empathise with the heroic
characters. The instructive theatre, by contrast, disentangles the audiences from the dramatic plot

The Dream Of A Dream
Slipping back into her dream, she was no longer in the church. Dream Fianna had just reached the
market in the village square with her sisters and the cart. Scouring the marketplace for the shawl
maker, the girls were approached by a middle aged woman leading a bedraggled nag attached to a
cart stacked with knitted goods. Laboriously, the lady plodded along, dragging her left leg. Dream
Fianna smiled shyly at the woman. This wasn t part of the lesson, Fianna told them. I never met this
woman in the VRC. Dream Fianna turned. You should have. You missed the witch thing. This is
part of what you need to understand. See what exquisite wares fill my cart, she crooned in a
grandmotherly voice, enticing the girls to step closer. From... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Margaret s told us the maker of these shawls was a young woman named Erin. The old woman
shifted her weight. Her terse smile drew down the corners of her mouth again, creating lines of
wrinkles that edged around her neck and drooped into her blouse. No, lassie, there is only one
maker of knotted shawls such as these. Her gnarled hands, too worn and creased for a person
with a middle aged face and chestnut hair sparsely streaked with silver, smoothed the stack of
shawls lovingly. She moved in front of Fianna, her back to the other girls, blocking Fianna s
view of the market square. For a few seconds, Mistress Tooley s face morphed into that of a
scraggy ancient hag with long gray hair. She looked nothing like a pudgy faced woman.
Apologetically Dream Fianna tried to ease the tension. Maybe there are others who knit the
same pattern. It is a sad day when a child takes not the word of an elder. You should be asking
forgiveness of the good Father in confession for your rudeness. As you are strangers here, I see
that I must tell you the truth. I am the shawl maker s mam. Unfortunately, she took ill this very
morn so I find myself at the market today. After all, the rents must be paid and we need food for
the table. Ashamed that she had the bad manners to challenge an adult, Dream Fianna found the

What Is The Attachment Theory Of Middle Childhood
The middle childhood includes ages between of 6 and 11 years which is crucial phase of
development of cognition, emotion, and social behavior of an individual. The transition from early
childhood to middle childhood displays modification in psychological world of the child. In the
present essay an attempt is made to discuss middle childhoodwith reference to Erikson s theory and
Attachment theory.
Erikson s theory was based on Freud s psychosexual theory of ego psychology. He desired to
determine that psychosocial development of an individual is due to the interaction between the
innermost self, the social, historical, cultural background and the living individual (Seligman
Shanock, 1998). This theory is described basing on principals such as a) Epigenetic Principal, a)
Radius of Relationship, b) Psychosocial Crisis, c) Prime Adaptive Ego Qualities and d) Core
Pathologies (Newman Newman,2012). Erikson also described the succession of eight stages of
development. They are a) Oral sensory, b) Muscular anal, c) Loco ... Show more content on

Magnets Lab
As was hypothesized, the time taken to fall through the copper tube increased as the number of
magnets did. However, the relationship was not quite linear. As shown in Figure 3.1, when the
average times were plotted against the corresponding number, the graph exhibited a positive
polynomial trend, more specifically, one of a quadratic.
Figure 3.1
This would mean that as the number of magnets increased, it would take more and more time to fall
through. Thus, it is expected that at some point, the casing would never be seen coming out of the
tube, as the time would effectively hit infinity. However, this is outside of the bounds of the
experiment; To keep total mass constant at 74 grams, only a finite number of magnets could be

Pasteur s Work Into Motion
Vaccines Louis Pasteur was a French 19th century scientist, chemist, physicist, philosopher,
microbiologist, father of pasteurization, and towards the latter part of his career became an
immunologist. Though the immune system had barely even been discovered towards the end of
the 19th century, Pasteur was able to develop vaccines for chicken cholera, anthrax, and rabies.
Though he started out trying to discover what the culprit was to making livestock and dogs sick, he
applied this knowledge and new discoveries to infected humans, which resulted in saving many
people s lives towards the turn of the century and even today.
What was the motivation that led to the discovery? Many different motivations set Pasteur s work
into motion. At the young age of nine, Pasteur observed first hand that people developed rabies
from dogs infected with rabies. This might sound like common sense, but in the early 19th century,
microbiology and the exploration of infectious diseases were just being realized and discovered
by scientists. The rabies problem started to grow rapidly in France and veterinarians reached out
to Pasteur for help. After Pasteur accepted this challenge he applied what he observed as a boy
and to many things he had learned and discovered since then. Finally in 1884 he was able to
discover how to treat infected dogs, and then in 1885 he successfully treated his first human rabies
victim.
What questions were asked? Many questions were asked that led up to the discovery

Hunter Thompson Gonzo Journalism
The excess use of guns, booze, and too many drugs to count easily summarizes the life and writing
of Hunter S. Thompson. The American culture of the 1960s began to alter with the hippie
generation, and the same old drab writing was not fulfilling the desires of the American reader.
During the 1970s, American literature and journalism transformed in a way that no one would have
ever been able to predict. Thompson found a way to turn the tables, and effected generations to
come in a new dynamic writing style that many authors and journalist nowadays adopt. The life and
writing of Hunter S. Thompsonhad great influence on the creation of gonzo journalism, politics,
and American culture. Even after forty years, Hunter S. Thompson s creation of gonzo journalism
became a fashionable style of writing that remains impersonated. Gonzo journalism has numerous
different characteristics; one of the most predominant is writing as a triple agent. To write in this
style one becomes the biographical author and a narrator at the same time. In a journal from Olga
Fayzullina she describes gonzo journalism as, The author s position is always dual, on the one
hand, he is an observer and witness of real events, on the other hand, and he is an active participant
who shows the high degree of reflection and self reflection. (276). Furthermore, another key to
gonzo journalism is the use of fact and fiction integrated together to portray a desired message to
the reader. The use of gonzo journalism

Why Appeasement Was Justified
The Policy of Appeasement Was Justified.
From the early 1940s, historians have been arguing about Chamberlain s policy of Appeasement.
They have divided their views into two camps: some thought appeasement was cowardly and stupid
as it encouraged Hitler to command more and more every time; other historians completely
supported Chamberlain and his pact as it gained time and made a lot of sense at that point.
Appeasement is a policy of pacifying an aggressor through giving in to their demands, thus
maintaining peace. From Latin, it is translated as to bring to peace. In the 1930s, it had a similar
meaning to negotiation. Neville Chamberlain tried to negotiate peace with Hitler when the League
of Nations, especially the collective security, had crumbled. Appeasement was considered worth
trying.
During World War One, Great Britain and France experienced a good deal of suffering over four
years. Neville Chamberlain did not want to bring his nation back to that state. The British
population, especially the youth, wanted to live in peace. All of them still remembered how the
bombs were dropped on their houses, how their fathers and brothers did not return from the front.
Around 10 million lives were taken away for nothing. Therefore, Neville Chamberlain tried his best
to meet all of Hitler s demands in order not to start ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Augmented Reality ( Vr )
Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are taking over our era, with new innovations
using the technology being released everyday. Both have had a sizable play in companies
performances, and have shaped and developed society from the beginning of their release. AR
and VR technology take aspects of the real world and apply it to technology in a three dimensional
form, just in different ways. Despite common misconceptions, these two ideas are not the same.
VR is all screen generated work, only including technological elements in its world that may
resemble real life items. AR, on the other hand, applies these elements to real life items, portraying
an image onto an object you physically have in front of you.
AR has had a specific impact on our society in general. From the Google Glass to the Hololens, it
s no surprise that companies like Google (GOOGL) and Microsoft (MSFT) are doing so well. But
what if we can use this technology for more? What if this technology could teach? What if it could
save lives? This is exactly what Volkswagen(VOW.DE on XETRA) has decided to explore.

Innovating a New Religious Experience: The Emergence of Biblical Pictorial Narratives During the
Renaissance
Spanning the 14th to 17th centuries, the Renaissance was an era of European history that saw
immense artistic and cultural innovation. Aptly named rebirth, the Renaissance was a revival of
Roman classicism and humanism. Inspired movements by the Church to humanize Christ and
encourage religious meditation led to the development of narrative artwork, pieces designed to
draw in viewers and invoke emotional participation in the depicted biblical scenes. To an extent, the
pictorial narratives served to expand the word of God to the illiterate. Nevertheless, the main

Illustrated are the three magi presenting the baby Jesus with a procession of lavish gifts. The
opulently detailed scene expands upon the tale as presented in the gospel according to Matthew,
which simply describes the three kings elation at having found the newborn child and their gifting
of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Fabriano embellishes the scene, portraying a massive procession
of luxurious gifts carried by men in extravagant garb, as well as horses, oxen, exotic birds, even a
hunting dog. The magi are shown in exotic and luxurious attire rather than ancient robes,
emblematic of the opulent Gothic style combined with Renaissance elegance. Viewers are
transported into the scene by Fabriano s characters, who stand in elegant contrapposto. Some even
face away from the viewer, which, in conjunction with the verisimilitude of the work, gives the
feeling of being physically present in the scene. Fabriano invokes a juxtaposition of emotions in the
smaller stories he tells, from disdain for the pair of maid servants tactlessly examining the gift from
the first magus, to concern for the traveller being accosted by thieves, to even humorous excitement
at the sight of a leopard preparing to pounce on a deer. The immense amount of detailing and
smaller stories presented within the frame encourages beholders to spend longer in examining the

Motivational Theories The Disney Company encourages communication throughout the
organization, and this communication is what helps to make a strong organizational culture. A
few motivational theories are effective in the Disney Company s culture. Psychologist Frederick
Herzberg proposed the two factor theory otherwise known as motivation hygiene theory. This
theory believes an individual s relationship to work is basic and that attitude toward work can
very well determine success or failure (Robbins Judge, 2011). This theory is one for the Walt
Disney Company. The founder Walt Disney s attitude toward the company from the beginning
was to bring happiness to everyone that has any parts of the company. A happy founder gives off
a chain reaction and therefore gives the company happy employees and customers. Employee s
are happy and have job satisfaction shows it through his or her positivity and it reflects in one s
job performance. Another motivational theory is a goal setting theory that the Disney Company
uses to motivate their employees. A goal setting theory is a theory that says that specific and
difficult goals with feedback, lead to higher performance (Robbins Judge, 2011). The Disney
Company has many projects going on at one time so setting goals keep the employees motivated to
do their jobs. The Disney Company also can use the reinforcement theory that states that behavior is

Abstract 2 Naphthol has been selectively oxidized to 2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone (HNQ,
Lawsone) with hydrogen peroxide in presence of
5, 10, 15, 20 tetrakis (p sulfonatophenyl)porphinatomanganese (III) chloride as catalyst in alkaline
aqueous solution. The catalytic oxidation afforded
2 hydroxy 1,4 naphthoquinone in high yield (95 %). The effect of reaction parameters on the
catalytic activity and the yield of HNQ have been investigated. UV vis spectral analysis during
oxidation reaction indicated that oxomanganese intermediate O=Mn(IV)TPPSCl was the active
species in the oxidation reaction.

Among the critical responses to Home to Harlem, W.E.B. Du Bois s criticism of Claude McKay s
text seemingly speaks from an essentialist perspective. Du Bois simply found that McKay s
representation of black culture within his novel reproduced stereotypical and crude images which
white audiences desired in the midst of the Harlem Renaissance. In response to Du Bois, McKay
argued that the novel was created for a black audience, but, to delve even deeper outside of
Claude McKay s views, it could be argued that Home to Harlem does not produce a single identity
at all. Rather, Home to Harlem s perpetual mobility and movement invests in the idea of black

caught ... by some romantic rhythm, color, face, passing through cabarets, saloons, speakeasies,
and so on; in short, the emphasis on Jake s travels is on his restlessness in his desire for
movement rather than a search for some inner truth he may hold (McKay 41). Thus, the
picaresque novel employment of the episodic form is vital for Home to Harlem as it allows for
the motif of movement to be used for its potential. Not only that, though, but it can easily be
inferred that Claude McKay designed his novel to be structured in such a way with a degree of
intentionality. For whatever reason, McKay understood that an episodic format was the best to
display Jake s story. Thus, his audience must

Asotyping In The Film Dr. Strangelove
In the film Dr. Strangelove , Stanley Kubrick took a difficult issue and transformed it into a
political comedy. He parodies the dangerous idea of an atomic war and the crazy people who were
planning it. Moreover, he tends to the issue of stereotyping. General Jack Ripper is the main
character in the film who is in the U.S. Air Force and goes completely insane, and sends bomber
wings to destroy the U.S.S.R. He thinks that the communists are conspiring to pollute the precious
bodily fluids of the American people. When the U.S. President finds out he meets with his advisors,
nuclear scientist, Turgidson, and Dr. Strangelovea former Nazi in the War Room to discuss how to
stop the attack on the Soviet Union from turning into a nuclear war. President Muffley brings
Soviet ambassador Alexi de Sadesky into the War Room and calls Soviet Premier Dimitri Kisov
on the phone to inform both on the situation. Mr. Sadesky then tells the President Muffley that if
the U.S.S.R. is hit by nuclear weapons, they will release their doomsday device which is said
can destroy all life on Earth. Now everyone in the War Room are displeased to learn about the
Doomsday Device and not knowing when it will be activated if any of Ripper s bomber wings
hits their targets. While they were thinking up a plan to stop the bomber wings Major T.J. King
Kong on B 52 bomber wing was working on his following orders to deploy the bomb and deploy it
fast before the Soviet Union finds out what he is doing

Adult Only Pool Case Study
Grey Oaks Adult Only Pool
Growing up, most summer days consisted of my mother waking up my brother and me early so
that we could be the first to arrive at the swimming pool in order to secure our chairs for the day.
However, most occasions we noticed that other people had the same idea. Once we finally found
an ideal spot for our family to lounge for the day, my brother and I had to face the crowd of
children splashing in the water. Each day the chaotic scene reoccurred. My mom frequently told
me that the Grey Oaks Homes would be building a new pool any day, since a second pool was one
of the things my parents were promised when they moved in. The year my parents built a new
home in Grey Oaks, I was four years old. Now, I am seventeen and have only seen the situation
worsen. Each year, dozens of new homes are built in my neighborhood, yet a singular pool
remains. My proposal is that the Rodrock Homes should build an Adult Only pool in the Grey Oaks
neighborhood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The resident, Stephanie Bidnick (resident for 12 years), manages a home daycare. She reported
that whenever she wants to take her daycare children swimming, she cannot go to the Grey Oaks
pool because of the overcrowding. She has tried taking her daycare children to the neighborhood
pool, only to encounter a terrible experience because she had trouble keeping track of her kids
among the huge crowd. I also interviewed a friend and current Grey Oaks resident, Jordan Dean.
When asked about her experiences at the pool she said, Usually when I decide to go to the pool I
try to find a friends neighborhood pool to go to because I can never relax at our Grey Oaks pool.
Every time I want to get in, I am getting splashed or jumped on by a younger

A Brief Look at Antiangiogenic Therapy
Although laser photocoagulation and PDT destroy pathological vessels, they neither extenuate the
primary angiogenic stimuli nor prevent the development of new vessel. Antiangiogenic substances
are able to resolve these problems. Antiangiogenic therapy prevents recurrence of AMD by
reversing the CNV lesions. Pegaptanib (brand name: Macugen) was the first intravitreal
pharmacotherapy approved by the FDA in 2004. It binds to VEGF165 and is responsible for blood
retinal barrier breakdown and pathological intraocular neovascularisation , subsequently inhibiting
pathological leakage and angiogenesis. According to the results of the
VEGF Inhibition Study in Ocular Neovascularisation (VISION) trial, pegaptanib is proven to be an
effective therapy for wet AMD. However, reinjections have to be done regularly as the molecule of
pegaptanib is degraded enzymatically by intraocular nucleases. Endophtalmitis, traumatic lens
injury and retinal detachment were also observed in the patients receiving this treatment.
In 2006, FDA approved the usage of ranibizumab (brand name: Lucentis), a humanized
monoclonal antibody fragment that has a high affinity for VEGF, as a therapeutic option for wet
AMD. Ranibizumab is different from pegaptanib as it is not restricted only to binding VEGF165
isoform but binds to all human VEGF isoform. It reduces leakage in vessels as well as decreases
retinal and choroidal neovascularisation in animal models. The findings of MARINA study
demonstrated that

Biotic Factors In Hawaii
Plants are found everywhere on earth, up high on the ridge and down low in caves and caverns.
The types of plants that live in these places depends on many factors. These factors are separated
into two different categories, the biotic factors and the abiotic factors. Some of the biotic factors
include, predation, competition, and habitat destruction. Plants with limited competition and large
amounts of resources will be in a higher abundance than plants with limited resources and higher
competition rates will be confined to areas and either out competed or will be the dominant species.
Certain plants adapt to these factors and thrive and others don t do as well. Some of the abiotic
factors include, sunlight, water, temperature, and wind. These... Show more content on

The ridge is known as an endangered dry ridge hike, for its endemic species and dry climate
(Nelson 2003). The ridge trail starts on dole street near the university of Hawaii at Manoa. From
the campus, the ridge seems dry and grassy and it is expected as a dry leeward side ridge. This
ridge is also known for its brush fires during the hot seasons, the most recent being the fire in
2007. The fire left 50 acre of the ridge scorched and burned to the ground (Siopack 2007). But,
now in 2016 there has been an increasing amount of rain and the ridge has since begun to heal
since the fire. The beginning of the trail starts off dry with rocky soil and the dominant
vegetation being the M. maximus that has a yellow brownish color. The vegetation isn t
completely covering the soil; it is mostly clumped together. As you continue to move up the trail
the vegetation starts to get a little greener and thicker. The M. maximus gets thicker, greener,
and more dominant. The soil is still rocky and dry, but there are a few different species such as the
air plants and small shrubs. More of a change is seen further up the ridge once you are out of the
tall grasses. The land is moister and has a wide range of tree species and woody area. There was an
abundance of Haole Koa trees, thorny bastards, all spice, and strawberry guava. It was a large
change from an open canopy of large

Soil Erosion
What is soil erosion? Soil erosion is a natural process, occurring over geological time, and indeed
it is a process that is essential for soil formation in the first place. With respect to soil degradation,
most concerns about erosion are related to accelerated erosion, where the natural rate has been
significantly increased mostly by human activity. Soilerosionby water is a widespread problem
throughout Europe. Soil is naturally removed by the action of water or wind: such background
(or geological ) soil erosion has been occurring for some 450 million years, since the first land
plants formed the first soil. Even before this, natural processes moved loose rock, or regolith, off
the Earth s surface, just as has happened... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Diffuse overland flow. Note the raindrop impacts
Firstly, if rain arrives too quickly (i.e. with too high an intensity) for it to infiltrate: the runoff
which results is then known as infiltration excess runoff, or Hortonian runoff. Secondly, runoff
may occur if the soil has already absorbed all the water it can hold (i.e. because it is fully
saturated, or if the soil is frozen). Runoff which results from this situation is known as saturation
excess runoff. As runoff moves downhill, it is at first a thin diffuse film of water which has lost
virtually all the kinetic energy which it possessed as falling rain. Thus it moves only slowly, has a
low flow power, and is generally incapable of detaching or transporting soil particles.
The micro topography (i.e. small scale pattern of irregularities) of the soil s surface tends to
cause this overland flow to concentrate in closed depressions, which slowly fill: this is known as
detention storage or ponding . Both the flowing water, and the water in detention storage, protect
the soil from raindrop impact, so that rainsplash redistribution usually decreases over time within a
storm, as the depth of surface water increases. There are, however, complex interactions between
rainsplash and overland flow. If rain continues, the increasing depth of water will eventually
overtop the micro topographic depressions. Overland flow that is released in this way is likely to
flow downhill more quickly and

Exploratory Paper
Beforebeginning the quantitative research report, we had to had complete an exploratory research
report. This was necessary as it allowed us to see trends in relation to healthy eating. The
exploratory research mainly consisted of qualitative questions as we wanted to see if there was any
relationship between a cupcake and a chicken and spinach sandwich. After analyzing the results of
the survey, we were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers
have when it comes to eating and purchasing healthy food.
Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that
consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for
this was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a
healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel
as though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most
interesting thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that
organic food was a healthier option as compared to non organic ... Show more content on

Due to the fact that consumers had mixed opinions on the healthiness of organic food, we decided
that creating a quantitative research survey would serve as a good opportunity to find more
information on this topic. Our hypothesis was that organic food is perceived as a healthier option
when comparing it non organic food, indicating that consumers are willing to pay more organic
products. Ultimately, our research question and hypothesis relates to healthy eating as it illustrates
how some consumers feel eating organic food is heathier, while some consumers feel that eating
organic food isn t any healthier than non organic

That s what a lot of Texans what Americans and people around the world to know you don t mess with Texas. In the 1950 s, when President Eisenhower created the first Interstate plan for the country and implemented new roads in almost every single state, it was the largest engineering feat in the modern world. Now, almost half a century later, Governor Rick Perry is set to break that record, with the costliest, largest, and most incredible sized proportion Texas Trans Corridor, dubbed the Texas Superhighway, a 4000 mile, $175 billion dollar project that won t be completely functional for another fifty years (Perry). Also, any traveler on the I 35 corridor in Texas runs into hundreds of eighteen wheelers, increasing drivers awareness and causing disarray for drivers who are trying to see the road in front of them. Perry s answer is to shift the traffic away from metropolitan areas. If truck drivers can bypass San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas, the time to their destination would probably save them an entire day in travel. Freight rail services could veer away from San Antonio s railroad yard, an institution bustling with activity in the wee hours of the morning. Also, commuter rail can solve environmental problems and help families keep in touch anywhere in the state without the over burdening costs of driving (Perry). Perry s plan begins with the setup itself: Six, twelve foot vehicle passenger lanes in which the vehicle can travel at 80 miles per hour; Four, thirteen foot truck lanes; Two tracks for each of the following railroad establishments high speed rail, commuter rail, and freight rail. No transportation facility exists like this in the modern world. • 3. Essay on Reflexive Transparency, Mental Content, and... Reflexive Transparency, Mental Content, and Externalism It has been disputed whether an externalist conception of the individuation of intentional states, such as beliefs and desires, is compatible with self knowledge, that is, the claim that one s judgments about one s intentional states are non evidential, non inferential, and authoritative. I want to argue that these theses are indeed incompatible, notwithstanding an important objection to this incompatibility claim. The worry has been raised that if externalism is true, then for a subject to know, say, that he or she believes that p, the subject would need to know, on the basis of some evidence, the external conditions which determine the belief s content. Thus, externalism would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And thus externalism would be incompatible with self knowledge. But many philosophers have accepted an objection suggesting that this worry is mistaken, because even if one s belief content is externally determined, one need not know the external conditions determining that content in order to have the belief. And, thus, the subject s reflexive judgment about the belief would not need to rest on evidence about those external conditions.(2) But this objection rests, in turn, on a crucial assumption according to which mental content is reflexively transparent in the sense that a subject could not judge that she has an intentional state and be mistaken about the content of her state, even if content is externally determined.(3) My main purpose is to question this crucial assumption. Now the claim that mental content is reflexively transparent is extremely compelling and, if it is correct while externalism is true, then this would indeed support the compatibility of externalism and self knowledge. But, I want to argue that mental content is not reflexively transparent on the assumption of externalism. If my argument is correct, the upshot is that self knowledge and ... • 4. The Software Development Life Cycle Essay The waterfall method is a linear, sequential, non iterative process for software development first mentioned by Herbert Benington in 1956. The software development life cycle (SDLC) is defined by Ruparelia as a conceptual framework or process that considers the structure of the stages in volved in the development of an application from its initial feasibility study through to its deploy ment in the field and maintenance (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This method is so named waterfall because the stages of the SDLC cascade down through the stages of product consideration, re quirements, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and review/maintenance. In the 1970s, Winston Royce built on the waterfall modelto incorporate iteration and stage review. Royce s intent was to address the central role that the design phase plays in minimizing risks by being re visited several times (Ruparelia, 2010, p. 8). This later form of the waterfall model assumes that continual feedback is required to ensure additional updates/improvements are implemented, and is therefore necessitated by the requisite updates that subsequent testing phases bring to light. The most significant difference between the original waterfall method of Benington and Royce s modified form is the need to re iterate and validate that no further updates/revisions are required in prior stages before moving on to the next phase. In some circumstances, there may even be a need to skip a previous phase to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Psychodynamic Personality Profile of Johnny Depp Essay Personality, like most core Psychology subjects, is difficult to define. Personality is essentially the science of describing and understanding people. No two people are the same; even identical twins will tell you that they are very different to their identical counterpart. There are some who are anxious and there are those who are risk takers. There are some who are carefree while there are those who are highly strung and there are those who are over confident while some are just plain shy. It is this issue of differences that are fundamental to the study and examination of personality. Johnny Depp, born June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky self proclaimed barbeque capital of the world has led an interesting life filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research also shows indicates that the Big Five has distinct biological substrates thereby linking trait perspective with the biological perspective (DeYoung, Quilty Peterson, 2007). However this convergence of perspectives is actually productive in that all perspectives by themselves have their disadvantages as well as their advantages. If all perspectives can coincide with one another, explanations of personality will become so much easier. The psychoanalytic perspective is the most interesting theory of the analysis of an individual and their personality. Initially developed by Freud during the latter half of the 1900s, it deals with, among other things, the irrational and less predictable patterns of behaviour and human thinking, which is what most other theories of personality often leave out and are criticised for it. In understanding Johnny Depp, a psychodynamic perspective best accounts for his personality: as a complete theory, it can explain his behaviour from when he was a child to becoming a famous movie star, integrates other theories into its analysis, such as Evolutionary and Learning perspectives, thus providing a fairly reliable and accurate interpretation of his personality. As a kid, Johnny Depp had a troublesome childhood. His father was continually searching for secure work in order to support his family, resulting in them moving around a lot, living in motels, shifting from place to place. This no doubt took a ... Kvothe In Patrick Rothfuss s The Name Of The Wind The lifestyle of a troupe of traveling performers, the meticulous science behind arcane magic, and the truth of the evil entities known as Chandrian. All of these subjects are touched upon within Patrick Rothfuss s The Name of the Wind, the first book of a three part fantasy series telling the tale of Kvothe, a man of brilliance, bravery, beauty, and most of all, bad luck (Alliteration). So far within the novel, Kvothe (who now goes as Kote) is regaling his legacy to Chronicler for history s sake, describing the death of his parents at the hands of demons, his punitive years in the alleyways of Tarbean, and his budding enrollment to the University. One prediction is that Kvothe will meet Denna again: some people say there was a woman , says Chronicler to Kvothe (Rothfuss 49). Kvothe responds by abruptly (and angrily) cutting him off. As the beginning of the book actually occurs in the future of most of the story, this comment inclines there is a woman that drastically affects Kvothe. The reason I believe that woman to be Denna is that she is the only female so far in the book that Kvothe has shown an interest to. Entire pages were spent describing how benevolent she is, of her goodness and grace. It would be odd if those descriptions were meaningless and Kvothe and she were never to meet again. Another prediction is that Master Hemme will be the one who gets Kvothe kicked out of the University. He is an insidious and spiteful man, attempting to humiliate Kvothe in front of his class and, when this backfired, trying to expel Kvothe for not simply rolling over and accepting his fate of being inferior. Master Hemme may not be well liked in the school, but he does hold a substantial amount of sway within the University. • 7. Corruption Of Power Power is wanted by many people across the universe, and those that gain it are privileged to many advantages in life. Power can be a good thing and a bad thing, mostly depending on what type of person gains the power, but in the end, everyone is the same. Great power has the potential to lead to corruption of the individual, leading to great overlooked weaknesses. One example of this phenomenon would be the story of Tom Riddle, who, through power s corruption and pure dark magic, was transformed into a snakelike abomination that struck fear into the hearts of all. As a young boy, he sought power over the other children in the orphanage at which he stayed, often bullying them both physically and mentally, at one point even hanging a boy s pet rabbit from the attic rafters. As he grew older, he fell further under the seduction of power, leading him to transform into the monster known as Lord Voldemort. In the end, he became obsessed with eternal life, performing many deeds in pursuit of immortality, which included the drinking of unicorn s blood and the creation of several Horcruxes. Because of all the things he had done to preserve his life and gain eternal power while doing so, he lived 13 years of his life as a spirit like entity, only possessing the ability to possess animals. In the end, having been depleted of his Horcruxes, he perished by the wand of the only wizard capable of doing the job, Harry Potter, and consequently, suffered the rest of eternity as a pathetic minuscule form of a human, trapped in limbo forever. Another example, can be made of Saruman the White, who when confronted with the opportunity to gain great power under the Dark Lord Sauron, chased his chance to rule part of Middle Earth. He served Sauron with complete allegiance, using Isengard as the main birthing site of Sauron s forces, namely the Uruk hai. He was the servant who publicly commanded Sauron s forces, and is the one that led the opposition against the Fellowship of the Ring for most the War of the Ring. In the end, his fortress of Isengard was vanquished by a squad of Ents, led by Treebeard, along with hobbits Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took. • 8. Eileen Gray s Design And Design I have picked these furniture pieces because it doesn t have any social or cultural influences on the design. Back in the 1920 s and 1930 s the society was still stuck in the Art Deco period while the old design with flower patterns and fabric was very common however Eileen s design used materials like tubular steel, aluminium and glass and people were lacking interest for Eileen Grays furniture because it was an unusual design for them. Therefore she didn t restrict her design to what the current technology was capable of producing. Eileen knew that it was going to be difficult to produce her furniture but she also knew that it wasn t going to be impossible. As the technology improved, making furniture didn t take as much time as it would in the past as they had to make the furniture by hand. Also the identical furniture being produced had the same size and shape. This was the key to successful mass production. Therefore it was possible to give life to Eileen Gray s furniture design. THE DAYBED Finally, the last piece of furniture I have decided on is the Daybed. Eileen Gray was passionate about history therefore her knowledge of the history had influenced her design of The Daybed. Gray was influenced by the Provencal and Mediterranean culture of Siesta when she was designing the daybed. As I am from Turkey, I feel very comfortable with the Mediterranean Culture. I believe that the Daybed designed by Eileen Gray reminds me of the large divans that Turkish people used to have in their Salons (sitting rooms) for their guest to feel comfortable sitting and facing any direction they like with no back rest and no arms on either side. Also they don t need to leave and go to their guest rooms to relax where they can easily just lie down and feel comfortable on these large divans and still be around with the people they love. As mentioned in the book Yunior s family immigrated from the Dominican Republic, which affected Yunior s future with cultural expectations and societal judgement. In the Dominican culture men are expected to be masculine and breadwinners () for the household but this is not the situation in Yunior s family. As mentioned before Yunior s father left him when he was 7 years old (), and her mother provided for both Yunior and his older brother. Despite not having a father the expectations of being macho was still prevalent for Yunior as he resided in a Dominican neighbourhood in New Jersey. Another subject which may be discussed in the topic of masculinity is Beto, Yunior s best friend, and the homosexual experiences between the two. Before abandoning the family, Yunior s father helps them move to the US, which forces them to chase after the American Dream (). The family immigrated from the Dominican Republic to escape poverty, but they still lived under the poverty line in the USA. Pyramid Discipleship Essay Pyramid Discipleship Discipleship in a mega church One of the hardest things to do when you are in a mega church is creating a community of genuine discipleship and not just a Sunday Church . It can seem like a giant task to take on when looked at head first because creating personal relationships with a thousand or more people is a lot of relationships, but there are ways to do it, and following the mold of pyramid discipleship can be very effective. So what is it? Pyramid discipleship is a system set up in a way to where one person will only take on 5 to 10 (at the very most) people at a time to disciple. And as they continue in their discipling there will be others above them to disciple them as they go. When you actually look at this inside of the church it becomes clearer and easier to understand. At the top of the pyramid would be the senior pastor, a maybe some of the elders or other staff members. Moving down the pyramid would be the staff that would oversee the discipleship program. Rapa Nui acquired the name Easter Island when a dutch explorer, Jacob Roggeveen, and his voyagers came across the island by mistake while enroute for a different island on Easter Sunday in 1722. This volcanic island is located over 2,000 miles off the coast of Chile, but still remains part of the Polynesian Islands. However, more logical and realistic speculations linger in the minds of archaeologists and historians of today. The most plausible theory to date, after archaeologists performed a demonstrative experiment, concludes that the Moai were built inside quarries dug into the side of the Rano Raraku volcano.on the eastern edge of the island. They began as very large, rectangular stone blocks, laying out flat with a base below them to hold them to the bedrock. In this phase, a master carver and his crew of approximately 15 carvers would begin working on the face, just barely carving the outline of the facial features with a pick known as a toki in Rapa Nui. After a full outline of the face was roughly carved, the master carver and his team would then insert all the definitive attributes that would differentiate the various chiefs. This juncture of the Moai construction explains a suitable amount of knowledge to a small portion of how these statues were supposedly formed, but what still remains is how could they have been stood up and placed onto their ... • 19. Japanese Economic Development Post World War Ii World War II left many powerful nations in smoke and rubble. The deconstruction of many countries gave them the chance to rebuild their cities and economies. No country took more advantage of this opportunity than Japan. Japan was a huge militaristic power in World War II . Their aggressive behavior caused them to be stripped of their military and their power for self rule. The demilitarization of Japan changed the country s focus from world militaristic domination to world economic domination. The country established free trade, manufactured goods, and improved and invented technology, making themselves one of the largest economic superpowers in the world. The Japanese started to view MacArthur as an administrator of considerable skill (Britannica). His reforms played a role in Japan developing as a free and independent nation. In the early months MacArthur focused on getting rid of everything that symbolized World War II Japan. He did this through demobilizing the armed forces and disbanding the empire. He destroyed all weapon producing industries to prevent a radical uprising. The Home Ministry with its prewar powers over the police and local government was abolished(Britannica), and the police s extensive power was taken away. As temporary leader of Japan, MacArthur had some of his own ideas for the born again country. Although he was a conservative American in politics, he fostered many democratic reforms for the Japanese government (Britannica). He also encouraged the government to legalize labor unions and to adopt universal suffrage. The most important reform carried out by the occupation was the establishment of a new constitution. When Japanese efforts to write a new constitution proved inadequate, MacArthur s government prepared its own draft and presented it to the Japanese government. • 20. The Problem of Acid Rain Essay The Problem of Acid Rain WHAT CAUSES ACID RAIN When power stations, factories, houses and cars release pollution into the air it has chemicals in it called sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. SULPHUR DIOXIDE: Man made sulphur dioxide comes mainly from burning fossils fuels in power stations. It then mixes with water in the atmosphere to make sulphuric acid, which will later fall as acid rain. NITROGEN OXIDES: Nitrogen oxides are also man made and mainly come from car exhausts. These gases also go into the atmosphere and mix with water to form nitric acid, which once again falls as acid rain. WHAT EFFECTS DOES ACID RAIN HAVE ON THE ENVIRONMENT ? SOILS, TREES AND PLANTS. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This makes it easier for fungi and insects to attack the tree, and as a result the tree may die. [IMAGE] Acid rain not only damages soil but can also affect the trees directly. Pollutants can block or damage the little pores on the leaves through which the plant takes in the air it needs to survive. LAKES AND WATER Acid rain can damage the water and the wildlife in lakes. A lake that has been affected by acid rain looks clean and crystal clear, but contains no life. Most wild plants and animals that live in clean, unpolluted lakes cannot live in acid waters. Fish are poisoned by the aluminium which is washed out of the ground into the lakes. Lakes also receive rainfall directly from the sky. A healthy lake has a pH of around 6.5 and a large number of plants, insects and fish can live there. In addition, there are a number of animals and birds that feed on the plentiful food in a healthy lake. As the lake becomes more acidic (the pH gets smaller) the fish find it more difficult to reproduce successfully, as the young fish find it difficult to live in the high levels of acidity and die. It is not only the acid in the water that kills them, but also poisonous minerals like aluminium that are washed out of the surrounding ground into the water. The birds that eat the fish also begin to suffer as the harmful

Some view language as a set of social conventions, shared by a group of people about how to communicate such as classroom or sporting rules, often supplied in books and followed by people. Children don t read books so social conventions need to be taught by modelling behaviour and communication. With the exception of severe disabilities or social problems, all humans acquire language as a core of basic property of their humanity called vernacular which is used in everyday life Gee Hayes (2011, p. 8). • 23. The Nuclear Bomb Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki Essay The nuclear bombs code named Little Boy and Fat Man were detonated over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the summer of August 1945 by the United States of America in an attempt to end World War II. The immediate death toll was extremely high with an estimated 60,000 to 80,000 people killed upon impact of the bombs due to the extreme heat, flying shrapnel, and the pressure of the blast wave. The overall death toll is now estimated to be about 192,020 dead due to long term health effects such as radiation poisoning and burns. These bombs also caused a multitude of long term medical and social problems for surviving victims such as in utero mutations in future generations of children and a large percentage of homeless citizens after the war. As a result of these bombs the Japanese emperor Hirohito accepted the terms of the Potsdam Declaration ending World War II. These bombings remain the single most horrific acts of warfare ever carried out on another country. Thousands of Japanese citizens were immediately disintegrated upon impact of the bombs by the thermal radiation released near the hypocenter or ground zero of the explosion, death rates decreasing the further out from the hypocenter. Second and third degree burns on the flesh were a result of very high degrees of thermal radiation on the human body and so only occurred within close proximity to the atomic blast, that being around five miles. • 24. Little Flower Character Analysis Employing household names, rather than less known actors, Jia reduces the possibility for audiences, especially the Chinese, of jumbling up the interviewing with acting. In other words, the intention of docuficiton is not to gloss over the conflicts between the natural and artificial, but to highlight the difference and to show the self conscious about mimicry in representation (Deppman 205). The quality of self reflexivity is most explicit in the case of Gu Minhua, played by veteran actor Joan Chen, who was given the nickname, Little Flower, because she resembles the heroine in the one time popular movie, Little Flower, which in reality was starred by Joan herself. Later comes the scene where Gu Minhua is watching Little Flower. The juxtaposition between the character /actress and her representative work further parodies the boundary between the fact and fiction, and the authority of one single voice in the process of conceptualising the time space. In the context of China, it confronts the hegemony of revolutionary realism since Mao era till today, referring to a powerful delusion to justify the Chinese past, and to generate political passions for the present and future (Donald 273). The revolutionary realism is similar to the Aristotelian drama in Brecht s sense, which provides a hypnotic experience by alluring spectators to empathise with the heroic characters. Her gnarled hands, too worn and creased for a person with a middle aged face and chestnut hair sparsely streaked with silver, smoothed the stack of shawls lovingly. She moved in front of Fianna, her back to the other girls, blocking Fianna s view of the market square. For a few seconds, Mistress Tooley s face morphed into that of a scraggy ancient hag with long gray hair. She looked nothing like a pudgy faced woman. Erikson s theory was based on Freud s psychosexual theory of ego psychology. This theory is described basing on principals such as a) Epigenetic Principal, a) Radius of Relationship, b) Psychosocial Crisis, c) Prime Adaptive Ego Qualities and d) Core Pathologies (Newman Newman,2012). As shown in Figure 3.1, when the average times were plotted against the corresponding number, the graph exhibited a positive polynomial trend, more specifically, one of a quadratic. Figure 3.1 This would mean that as the number of magnets increased, it would take more and more time to fall through. Pasteur s Work Into Motion Vaccines Louis Pasteur was a French 19th century scientist, chemist, physicist, philosopher, microbiologist, father of pasteurization, and towards the latter part of his career became an immunologist. Though the immune system had barely even been discovered towards the end of the 19th century, Pasteur was able to develop vaccines for chicken cholera, anthrax, and rabies. Though he started out trying to discover what the culprit was to making livestock and dogs sick, he applied this knowledge and new discoveries to infected humans, which resulted in saving many people s lives towards the turn of the century and even today. What was the motivation that led to the discovery? Many different motivations set Pasteur s work into motion. At the young age of nine, Pasteur observed first hand that people developed rabies from dogs infected with rabies. This might sound like common sense, but in the early 19th century, microbiology and the exploration of infectious diseases were just being realized and discovered by scientists. The rabies problem started to grow rapidly in France and veterinarians reached out to Pasteur for help. After Pasteur accepted this challenge he applied what he observed as a boy and to many things he had learned and discovered since then. Finally in 1884 he was able to discover how to treat infected dogs, and then in 1885 he successfully treated his first human rabies victim. What questions were asked? During the 1970s, American literature and journalism transformed in a way that no one would have ever been able to predict. • 30. Why Appeasement Was Justified The Policy of Appeasement Was Justified. From the early 1940s, historians have been arguing about Chamberlain s policy of Appeasement. They have divided their views into two camps: some thought appeasement was cowardly and stupid as it encouraged Hitler to command more and more every time; other historians completely supported Chamberlain and his pact as it gained time and made a lot of sense at that point. Appeasement is a policy of pacifying an aggressor through giving in to their demands, thus maintaining peace. From Latin, it is translated as to bring to peace. In the 1930s, it had a similar meaning to negotiation. Neville Chamberlain tried to negotiate peace with Hitler when the League of Nations, especially the collective security, had crumbled. Appeasement was considered worth trying. During World War One, Great Britain and France experienced a good deal of suffering over four years. Neville Chamberlain did not want to bring his nation back to that state. The British population, especially the youth, wanted to live in peace. Home to Harlem s audience watches as that strange, elusive something in Jake catches him and has him [roaming] away and wandering to some unknown new port, caught ... by some romantic rhythm, color, face, passing through cabarets, saloons, speakeasies, and so on; in short, the emphasis on Jake s travels is on his restlessness in his desire for movement rather than a search for some inner truth he may hold (McKay 41). Thus, the picaresque novel employment of the episodic form is vital for Home to Harlem as it allows for the motif of movement to be used for its potential. Not only that, though, but it can easily be inferred that Claude McKay designed his novel to be structured in such a way with a degree of intentionality. For whatever reason, McKay understood that an episodic format was the best to display Jake s story. Thus, his audience must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Asotyping In The Film Dr. Strangelove In the film Dr. Strangelove , Stanley Kubrick took a difficult issue and transformed it into a political comedy. He parodies the dangerous idea of an atomic war and the crazy people who were planning it. Moreover, he tends to the issue of stereotyping. General Jack Ripper is the main character in the film who is in the U.S. Air Force and goes completely insane, and sends bomber wings to destroy the U.S.S.R. He thinks that the communists are conspiring to pollute the precious bodily fluids of the American people. When the U.S. President finds out he meets with his advisors, nuclear scientist, Turgidson, and Dr. Strangelovea former Nazi in the War Room to discuss how to stop the attack on the Soviet Union from turning into a nuclear war. President Muffley brings Soviet ambassador Alexi de Sadesky into the War Room and calls Soviet Premier Dimitri Kisov on the phone to inform both on the situation. Mr. Sadesky then tells the President Muffley that if the U.S.S.R. is hit by nuclear weapons, they will release their doomsday device which is said can destroy all life on Earth. Now everyone in the War Room are displeased to learn about the Doomsday Device and not knowing when it will be activated if any of Ripper s bomber wings hits their targets. While they were thinking up a plan to stop the bomber wings Major T.J. King Kong on B 52 bomber wing was working on his following orders to deploy the bomb and deploy it fast before the Soviet Union finds out what he is doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Adult Only Pool Case Study Grey Oaks Adult Only Pool Growing up, most summer days consisted of my mother waking up my brother and me early so that we could be the first to arrive at the swimming pool in order to secure our chairs for the day. However, most occasions we noticed that other people had the same idea. Once we finally found an ideal spot for our family to lounge for the day, my brother and I had to face the crowd of children splashing in the water. Each day the chaotic scene reoccurred. My mom frequently told me that the Grey Oaks Homes would be building a new pool any day, since a second pool was one of the things my parents were promised when they moved in. The year my parents built a new home in Grey Oaks, I was four years old. Now, I am seventeen and have only seen the situation worsen. Each year, dozens of new homes are built in my neighborhood, yet a singular pool remains. My proposal is that the Rodrock Homes should build an Adult Only pool in the Grey Oaks neighborhood. ... She reported that whenever she wants to take her daycare children swimming, she cannot go to the Grey Oaks pool because of the overcrowding. She has tried taking her daycare children to the neighborhood pool, only to encounter a terrible experience because she had trouble keeping track of her kids among the huge crowd. I also interviewed a friend and current Grey Oaks resident, Jordan Dean. When asked about her experiences at the pool she said, Usually when I decide to go to the pool I try to find a friends neighborhood pool to go to because I can never relax at our Grey Oaks pool. • 42. A Brief Look at Antiangiogenic Therapy Although laser photocoagulation and PDT destroy pathological vessels, they neither extenuate the primary angiogenic stimuli nor prevent the development of new vessel. Antiangiogenic substances are able to resolve these problems. Antiangiogenic therapy prevents recurrence of AMD by reversing the CNV lesions. Pegaptanib (brand name: Macugen) was the first intravitreal pharmacotherapy approved by the FDA in 2004. It binds to VEGF165 and is responsible for blood retinal barrier breakdown and pathological intraocular neovascularisation , subsequently inhibiting pathological leakage and angiogenesis. According to the results of the VEGF Inhibition Study in Ocular Neovascularisation (VISION) trial, pegaptanib is proven to be an effective therapy for wet AMD. However, reinjections have to be done regularly as the molecule of pegaptanib is degraded enzymatically by intraocular nucleases. Endophtalmitis, traumatic lens injury and retinal detachment were also observed in the patients receiving this treatment. In 2006, FDA approved the usage of ranibizumab (brand name: Lucentis), a humanized monoclonal antibody fragment that has a high affinity for VEGF, as a therapeutic option for wet AMD. Ranibizumab is different from pegaptanib as it is not restricted only to binding VEGF165 isoform but binds to all human VEGF isoform. It reduces leakage in vessels as well as decreases retinal and choroidal neovascularisation in animal models. The findings of MARINA study demonstrated that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Biotic Factors In Hawaii Plants are found everywhere on earth, up high on the ridge and down low in caves and caverns. The types of plants that live in these places depends on many factors. These factors are separated into two different categories, the biotic factors and the abiotic factors. Some of the biotic factors include, predation, competition, and habitat destruction. Plants with limited competition and large amounts of resources will be in a higher abundance than plants with limited resources and higher competition rates will be confined to areas and either out competed or will be the dominant species. Certain plants adapt to these factors and thrive and others don t do as well. Some of the abiotic factors include, sunlight, water, temperature, and wind. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ridge is known as an endangered dry ridge hike, for its endemic species and dry climate (Nelson 2003). The ridge trail starts on dole street near the university of Hawaii at Manoa. From the campus, the ridge seems dry and grassy and it is expected as a dry leeward side ridge. This ridge is also known for its brush fires during the hot seasons, the most recent being the fire in 2007. The fire left 50 acre of the ridge scorched and burned to the ground (Siopack 2007). But, now in 2016 there has been an increasing amount of rain and the ridge has since begun to heal since the fire. The beginning of the trail starts off dry with rocky soil and the dominant vegetation being the M. maximus that has a yellow brownish color. The vegetation isn t completely covering the soil; it is mostly clumped together. As you continue to move up the trail the vegetation starts to get a little greener and thicker. The M. maximus gets thicker, greener, and more dominant. The soil is still rocky and dry, but there are a few different species such as the air plants and small shrubs. More of a change is seen further up the ridge once you are out of the tall grasses. The land is moister and has a wide range of tree species and woody area. There was an abundance of Haole Koa trees, thorny bastards, all spice, and strawberry guava. It was a large change from an open canopy of large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Soil Erosion What is soil erosion? Soil erosion is a natural process, occurring over geological time, and indeed it is a process that is essential for soil formation in the first place. With respect to soil degradation, most concerns about erosion are related to accelerated erosion, where the natural rate has been significantly increased mostly by human activity. Soilerosionby water is a widespread problem throughout Europe. Soil is naturally removed by the action of water or wind: such background (or geological ) soil erosion has been occurring for some 450 million years, since the first land plants formed the first soil. Even before this, natural processes moved loose rock, or regolith, off the Earth s surface, just as has happened... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [pic] Diffuse overland flow. Note the raindrop impacts Firstly, if rain arrives too quickly (i.e. with too high an intensity) for it to infiltrate: the runoff which results is then known as infiltration excess runoff, or Hortonian runoff. Secondly, runoff may occur if the soil has already absorbed all the water it can hold (i.e. because it is fully saturated, or if the soil is frozen). Runoff which results from this situation is known as saturation excess runoff. As runoff moves downhill, it is at first a thin diffuse film of water which has lost virtually all the kinetic energy which it possessed as falling rain. Thus it moves only slowly, has a low flow power, and is generally incapable of detaching or transporting soil particles. The micro topography (i.e. small scale pattern of irregularities) of the soil s surface tends to cause this overland flow to concentrate in closed depressions, which slowly fill: this is known as detention storage or ponding . Both the flowing water, and the water in detention storage, protect the soil from raindrop impact, so that rainsplash redistribution usually decreases over time within a storm, as the depth of surface water increases. There are, however, complex interactions between rainsplash and overland flow. If rain continues, the increasing depth of water will eventually overtop the micro topographic depressions. Overland flow that is released in this way is likely to flow downhill more quickly and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Exploratory Paper Beforebeginning the quantitative research report, we had to had complete an exploratory research report. This was necessary as it allowed us to see trends in relation to healthy eating. The exploratory research mainly consisted of qualitative questions as we wanted to see if there was any relationship between a cupcake and a chicken and spinach sandwich. After analyzing the results of the survey, we were able to get a better insight of the perceptions and preferences that consumers have when it comes to eating and purchasing healthy food. Some of the more interesting things that we gained from reviewing the survey results was that consumers would rather eat a chicken and spinach sandwich over a cupcake. The main reasons for this was that a chicken and spinach sandwich would not only count as a proper meal but it s also a healthier option than the cupcake. Another interesting thing that we found was that consumers feel as though it is more expensive to eat healthy than it is to eat unhealthy. In the end, the most interesting thing that we found from the survey was that consumers were divided on the fact that organic food was a healthier option as compared to non organic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the fact that consumers had mixed opinions on the healthiness of organic food, we decided that creating a quantitative research survey would serve as a good opportunity to find more information on this topic. Our hypothesis was that organic food is perceived as a healthier option when comparing it non organic food, indicating that consumers are willing to pay more organic products. Ultimately, our research question and hypothesis relates to healthy eating as it illustrates how some consumers feel eating organic food is heathier, while some consumers feel that eating organic food isn t any healthier than non organic ...
