Holistic Assessment
Job of nurse is to provide better care to patients or clients. In order to provide better care for them,
nurses should know current problems of patients and furthermore acknowledging the background of
patients can make improved understanding of cares. So, holistic assessment is essential for nurses to
collect detailed information of clients. Base on the holistic assessment approach, nurses can make
nursing plans base on subjective and objective data collected. Moreover, according to nursing plan
nurses figure out and analyze how they will provide suited service to each individual patient. As a
resident nurses, not only taking care of their illness is nurse s duty but acknowledging patient s
background or culture nurse modify their thinking and actions toward patients. Therefore, nurses carry

Observation of vital signs, skin, pain, medications, and postures, etc are taken by registered nurses
during physical assessment. Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia [NMBA, 7.1](2006) identified that
nurses have to use resources, obtained data, effectively with efficiency to provide detail care to others.
Each information critically reflects on care plan of patient, early and correct assessment of patient
promotes early treatment and preventions of complications. For example, person suffering from
breathing might have lung cancer then early observation prevents cancers to spread wider in the body.
Also checking patient s blood pressure, nurses can distinguish either he /she is hyper/hypo tension or
in normal range and lead to a care plan for medication. Therefore, accurate observation of physical
assessment is essential to come up with correct diagnosis and carry out efficient care

An Argument Analysis Of Mozart s Requiem
In the last decade, the problem of Mozart s Requiem has divided itself into three categories which
most of the scholars have majored on in an attempt to come up with a clear analysis of the arguments
and various evidence. The three main problems include the authenticity problem viewed in a narrower
sense, the instrumentation problem and the dating problem. According to Friedrich Blume, the
question of authenticity comes in when the question of which parts were completed by Mozart and the
other parts that were completed by the another composer. It is hard to determine if the other composer
followed the concerns that Mozart would wish to be addressed. The issue of instrumentation also
becomes of concern in the sense that whether the Sussmayr s manuscript of the whole Requiem uses
the instrumentation that Mozart had indicated or whether it is out of the creativity of the master. The
dating problem was whether Mozart finished the work when he was on his deathbed or whether he had
composed the Requiem before he fell ill. Such problems of the Requiem could only be answered by
his close friends who died before the controversy arose. Looking further into this investigation this
document will analyze the problems of the Requiem based on arguments from the five scholars:
Thomas Bauman, Paul Moseley, Simon Keefe, Christoph Wolff, and Richard Maunder.
Bauman provides a thoughtful analysis of the completion of Mozart s Requiem by Richard Maunder.
He bases his argument on the fact that

ESSAY OPTION 1 (MTV)
MTV can be defined as a cable and satellite television channel which broadcasts popular music and
promotional music videos. (oxforddictionaries.com.n.d.). Launched on August 1st 1981, MTV s
programme started out by helping musicians gain exposure through music videos. This helped TV
audiences connect with music by new means. As MTV became more recognised, the network
branched out by creating new means of entertainment. MTV has remained relevant by continuously
adapting throughout its existence to meet their audience s entertainment requirements. (International
MTV and Globalisation).
Originally MTV concentrated on rock music and played classical artists such as the Police . The ...

MTV responded to the demands of their market which has helped them advance and be in the position
they are in today. Today, MTV posts networks in over 30 languages in over 130 countries which points
out its successfulness in catering for their audience. MTV has succeeded in becoming an undeniable
influence, not only in their music but in popular culture as well. (MTV, 2013).
Popular culture can be defined as The knowledge of current or up to date events. It can refer to music,
television, film, sports, and anything in the public domain. (reference.com.n.d.). MTV operates
globally and one may argue that MTV shapes their audience tastes however in present times the public
has vast options and therefore can easily dictate by choosing the channel that best suits their tastes and
wants. MTV s power to adapt to change has worked to their advantage as they have been able to
capture their target audience throughout their existence.
MTV was first to establish principles of popular culture. MTV became an iconic presence in popular
culture, inspiring visual media culture. Over the years, MTV has played a major role on popular
culture on a global scale. MTV has advanced in becoming a leading style of popular culture for
younger generations. MTV and its culture has spread world wide resulting in MTV s expansion into
different channels and countries such as MTV China, MTV Canada, MTV India, etc. however, all the
channels belong to one mass media source: MTV.

True Dimensionality of Space-Time
Allan Poe states in his essay on cosmology titled Eureka, that space and duration are one. To many,
this is portrayed as the first known instance of suggesting space and time to be joined together as one
thing. Albert Einstein s 1905 theory of special relativity is the very beginning of a theory related
concept of spacetime, but the first mathematical theory of spacetime actually created by one of his
own early teachers named Hermann Minkowski. He created the concept of Minkowski Space which is
the earliest recommendation to the treatment of space and time as two separate entities of one unified
whole. The idea of Minkowski space has led up to special relativity being viewed more so in a
geometrical way rather than a scientific and mathematical way. Minkowski space is described as the
mathematical formation for which special relativity can be conveniently formulated. In this setting the
three dimensions of space are combined with one dimension of time to create a four dimensional
whole expressed together as spacetime.
It would be considered extremely important to consider the events that space and time can ultimately
affect each other and how space and time are used in cosmological research. However, before
touching base with the concept of space time, it seems appropriate to tie together the two basic types
of dimensions and how they are ultimately applied to each other. Space time is closely linked with
Albert Einstein s theory of special relativity, mathematician

Rioting Of The Stamp Act Of 1765
There are significant differences between the two days of rioting that took place after the passing of
the Stamp Act of 1765, by the British government. The first day of rioting, August 14, 1765, can easily
be linked to the passing of the Stamp Act, were it was proposed by the British Government for the
colonist to pay an extra tax on all the paper that they used. This first riot came about as a rebellion
against the implementation, and against the facilitators, of a tax that was seen unfair. The anger of the
colonist was clearly directed towards officials, exemplified by the leveling of what was supposed to be
the stamp building. The rioters then directing their anger towards the man who would be the stamp

Donnie Darko vs. Oedipus Rex Essay
Greek tragedies were often seen as the foundation to literature not only for the Greeks but also on a
universal scale as well. Sophocles Oedipus Rex was one of the more infamous tales because of its
provocative and unorthodox nature. The tragedy features a man on a quest to prevent the events of his
prophesized life from coming to fruition. The key components of fate, destiny and time can be
paralleled to the cult classic film Donnie Darko. In the movie, Donnie suffers from predictions of the
future in his own variation of time travel, as a repercussion he has been chosen to rectify the past in
order to preserve what is to come.

Donnie has to suffer the knowledge that his death would be the only way to prevent the cataclysmic
incidents like that of Ashton Kutcher s character Evan Treborn in The Butterfly Effect. He too
understood his role in life was apocalyptic as soon as he was conceived. When Donnie ran into
Grandma Death she whispered to him that All things die alone, ( Donnie Darko ) it can be seen just
how tragic and miserable his life was going to be. After assessing the whole film, it can be realized
that she was right because Donnie inevitably died by himself without ever having met Gretchen and
without resolving his fight with his mother. Another event can be one of the first encounters with
Frank in which ended with 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, 12 seconds ( Donnie Darko ) being etched
into his arm. He had his very own expiration date and end of the world timeframe given to him. The
very thought of knowing one s own time of death is absolutely frightening and panic inducing. One of
the deleted scenes off of the DVD provided more insight into Donnie s mind and his acceptance of
death: A storm is coming, Frank says.
A storm that will swallow the children, and I will deliver them from the kingdom of pain.
I will deliver the children back to their doorsteps;
I ll send the monsters back to the underground.
I ll send them back to a place where no one else can see them, except for me because I am Donnie

Reaction Paper On Guitar
Music is a language utilized by most of the people around the world. It s not only a way of
communication, but it also takes the imagination to a different reality that gives us self satisfaction.
The guitar, has its own realm of music and sound effects. This instrument is considered as Rock n Roll
symbol, even though it s not used only for rock, but it s generally known that the style of the sound
effects provided by the guitar, match with rock music mostly. Now the mission is to provide the
suitable tone from such instrument. It s not hard to become a guitarist, it s all about practicing on
flexibility, scales and techniques.
Some people think that their hand are too small to play guitar. Often people get frustrated because
their hands can t make the big stretches that playing guitar sometimes requires. They mistakenly think
that their hand are too small to play guitar well. For most people, the issue is not hand size, but hand
and finger flexibility. This latter, is the first and the most important, phase in guitars world. All the
hard work should be aimed on getting flexible hands and fingers. It s is the key to success. Basically,
the guitar has a neck that holds around 19 to 20 frets. Some has more. Every fret represents a note.

Reflection Paper On Wrestling
One of the biggest goals I have in life to win a state championship in my favorite sport. That sport is
wrestling. I have wrestled since I was young in the third grade. I was considered very overweight for
my age. I sat at about ninety pounds as a 9 year old. My parents wanted me to start being physically
active and to get in shape. I remember being in a buffalo wild wings and watching a wrestling match
on the television and how cool I thought it was. I told my paresnts that wrestling was the sport i
wanted to do. The coach was a short man from India and he had tons of experince from teaching
wrestling back in his home country. He showed me all of the basics and I felt very proud as i mastered
each technique. When the day of my first match came I was so nervous. My first match was called and
I went out and lost pretty bad. My next match was called and I lost again and because I had lost two I
was out. During the third grade I only won one match. When the fourth grade came around I didnt
want to do wrestling anymore because I thought I would just lose again. When I turned twelve and
started junior high i heard that the wrestling team was pretty good at that school so I gave it a shot.
Since the third and fourth grade I had gotten in much better shape and I did a decent job at wrestling
and all the technique I learned was coming back to me. Once seventh grade came I was already ready
for wrestling to start. The first duel of the season we had was amazing. I did great my first

Mystery Of The Mary Celeste
Mystery of The Mary Celeste
What Happened to Her Crew The Mystery of the Mary Celeste has been talked about for centuries.
Historical scholars have debated the events that lead to her crews mysterious disappearance. Many
books both non fiction and fiction have been written about her. Did an explosion caused by her
precious cargo cause her crew to abandon ship? Was there a violent sea quake that made her
immobile? Maybe the captain thought her hull was filling with water and sinking after days of violent
weather? Looking at each theory gives clues as to what really happened to the Mary Celeste. The
Mary Celeste began its fateful journey on November 7, 1872, with her Capt. Benjamin Spooner
Briggs, his wife, the couple s 2 year old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The explosion theory; although far fetched, seems to be one very realistic cause of The Celeste s
abandonment. The main purpose of the Celeste s voyage was to deliver 1701 barrels of alcohol to
Genoa, which was used to fortify wine. Lee explains in his article for the ULC News that:
It seemed highly possible that the leaking alcohol caught light, sending Captain Briggs into a panic
and prompting the dreaded cry: Abandon ship! It was a plausible explanation but has always been
discounted because there was no sign of fire, or explosion. A blast of sufficient magnitude to persuade
an experienced captain to take the last resort of abandoning ship would surely have left at least a few
scorch marks on the wooden barrels, or in the hold (1). New scientific techniques have been used to
solve the great mystery. An experiment, conducted by a scientist at UCL for a Channel 5, shows that
an explosion may indeed be the key to the fate of the brigantine and her crew (1). The experiment was
conducted by a chemist from The University of Los Angeles, California. Dr. Andrea Sella [UCL
Chemistry] built a replica of the hold of the Mary Celeste. Using butane gas, he simulated an
explosion that would have been caused by the leaking alcohol in the hull of the Mary Celeste.
He did not use wood barrels, instead he used cubes of paper. A huge blast was caused after he set light
to the gas; which sent a ball of flame upwards (1).

How Did World War 1 Contribute To The Balance Of Power Theory
World War I saw the nations involved rallied into two major alliances in order to curb German s
increasing power. It is evident that German amassing too much power poses a threat to the security of
its counterparts in an anarchic system. As a result, other countries were willing to use various means
not only to mitigate the risks but also maintain their independence in the world s political structure.
The balance of power theory focuses on how countries can achieve a balance and international order.

Beethoven Seventh Symphony Analysis
Pratt Carrol stated that Music is the language of emotion, and emotions tend to be the same the world
over, in spite of differences in social customs and language. In other words, music is a fabulous
expression of the human being no matter the culture or norms because it manages to immediately
transmit different feelings and emotions that other forms of art may not transmit.
For my Introduction to music class I decided, to write about the Seventh Symphony in A major (Op.
92) by Ludwig van Beethoven. The reason why I choose this symphony is because it s an emotional
piece of music, and it definitely catch my attention since the moment I heard it. I feel this symphony
reach emotional situations that are above human explosions. Emotional areas that invade us through a
contradictory fact between feelings. The Seventh Symphony in A major by Beethoven appears in
1813. The orchestra contains two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in A, two bassoons, two horns in A
(E and D in the inner movements), two trumpets in D, timpani, and strings. Beethoven insisted on
directing it at its premiere, with tragicomic results. The critics recognized a new genius of Beethoven;
even today there are experts who consider it as the best of their symphonies. Richard Wagner, another
fervent Beethovenian, describe this symphony as all tumult, all yearning and storming of heart into the
blissful insolence of joy, which snatches us away with bacchanalian might. For its relentless dance

The Macbeth Murder Mystery
In addition I really like that Thurber expressed his opinion in the form of a dialogue, thus the reader
can feel himself as a character in a story. In the The Macbeth Murder Mystery, I did not only put
myself in the place of the both characters, but I also formed my own opinions and found more
arguments to get to the truth. The first thing about a good detective is that you could not figure out
right away who the murderer is. Shakespeare is far too smart so it is not likely he would have made
Macbeth as simple as it seems.

With a fearful look in her eyes, Mabel bounded to the edge of the bed, jumped to the floor and

Hanna headed for the stack of magazines inside the end table next to the couch, hoping to find any

This was not the first time Hanna had dealt with Mabel s paw prints. One time, the children purchased

The Battle Of The War I

History 162B
Paper 1
While recruiting men to fight in World War I, the British Army appealed to ideals of masculinity,
bravery, patriotism and nationalism. This form of propaganda was intended to shape the public s
views, and shape their decisions to revolve around political, gender, and social identity. Thousands of
young British men like Siegfried Sassoon went into World War I with this idealism. The bloodshed
found there came as a tremendous shock, as the war was unlike the image portrayed; the modern war
was different and horrifying. It was during the First World War that literature from these soldiers was
developed as a result of the increase in education levels amongst the British soldiers and public in the

Using graphic detail and bitter imagery, Sassoon expressed the contrast between the beautiful nature
and the destruction of the war. Sassoon begins by using details and poetic language to describe the
beauty of the surroundings, almost to reflect upon the attractive and heroic image of war portrayed
through propaganda. This then contrasts sharply with the graphic and detailed description of the
battlefield. His clever use of vocabulary was employed with great effect often using words that had
more than one definite meaning. In the third line he describes the sun smoldering through spouts of
drifting smoke that shroud . The word smoldering evokes a clear image of the sun being covered by
this thick infected smoke, and used in conjunction with the word shroud gives the reader an idea of
obscurity within the battlefield. On a deeper level, shroud is a metaphor expressing the concealing
nature of the smoke to hide the reality of the war. The menacing scarred slope creates a dark,
threatening image reflecting the fear these soldiers endured in battle. Although the poem starts of
relatively slow, it builds momentum with each new line. Sassoon successfully creates a sense of
suspense, imitating the continuous anticipation of attack these soldiers endured. The

The Importance Of Hypatia For The Development Of Western...
Hypatia of Alexandria is a relevant example of the way in which men fear powerful and intelligent
women due to their insecurity of losing power. Although the way in which she was brought down is
one of the most extreme cases, it resembles much of what continues to go on in Western Civilization.
There are both consistencies and inconsistencies between the sources, lecture, and the textbook. The
inconsistencies most likely attribute to this aforementioned male insecurity. The Importance of
Hypatia for the Development of Western Civilization Much like Hypatia, it is common to see women s
accomplishments downplayed and criticized across all of history. With another wave of the feminist
movement we have seen in the last few years, Hollywood has decided to do a bit of retelling to set the
story straight of a few major events, these specifically focus on The United States. For example, the
movie Hidden Figures (2016), directed by Theodore Melfi, speaks about black women working in
NASA in the 1960s and how their contributions did much for the success of the program. Another is
the documentary Dolores (2017), directed by Peter Bratt, that was based on the life of Dolores Huerta,
a civil rights activist that fought alongside Caesar Chaves, yet received none of the credit for all her
accomplishments in American History textbooks. Both these films shed light on women that were
overlooked in history due to them not conforming to what society thought a woman should be. For

At Coalition airfields and on board Coalition warships all across the Gulf region, the first hours after
midnight 17 January were marked by activity with a new sense of urgency. The initial attack packages
marshalled south of the Iraqi and Jordanian early warning and ground control intercept (GCI)
coverage. By employing modern stealth capabilities the coalition forces intended on targeting a
specific Iraqi radar dish, which would, unless destroyed, alert Iraqi air defence of the impending
assault. The entire coalition attack armada moved north, comprising of hundreds of aircraft from many
different nations and services, proceeded into hostile airspace at 2:10 am, Baghdad time . Eight US
Army AH 64 Apache helicopters led by two US Air ForceMH 53 Pave Low helicopters destroyed
Iraqi radar sites near the Iraqi Saudi Arabian border which could have warned Iraq of an impending
attack, hence providing the coalition forces with an initial advantage. Shortly after the operation was
authorised and the initial assaults on airfields in Western Iraq begun. These airfields were targeted on
the basis that they were the quintessential first response of the Iraqi army and by effectively destroying
them the coalition forces hoped to obtain the advantage with air superiority. Coupled with the assault

Machiavelli s Prince
Humanism is a term that is applied to beliefs, methods and philosophies that place human beings at
the center all life and the universe. Humanists observe that the goal of human life is happiness on
earth. Besides happiness, humanism is also grounded in naturalistic metaphysics (Lamont 13). It
considers all supernatural things and beliefs to be mythical, hence warranting dismissal. It is also
conceived of the idea that human beings are products of nature rather than supernatural creation. The
earthly experience is more important than any forms of predestination or determinism. According to
humanist, human beings have choice of action and have the capacity to shape their destiny. The
process of self definition also leads to critical inquiry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Prince Machiavelli maps a political ideology that values citizen active participation in public life as
opposed to the idea of waiting for divine repudiation and salvation. The essence of virtue is central to
humanist thought and action. Machiavelli like all other humanists saw virtue in those with power to
rule. A virtuous ruling class had the capacity for more efficient and accountable governance. He goes
on to argue that an elite ruling class was not sufficient enough for political stability. A stable political
system needs power. He observed that a political system that had poor organization led to its subjects
bad behavior which in the end resulted in it getting attacked by outside enemies. Machiavelli s project
was to separate the political from the moral and he thought this did not necessarily benefit the ruler
but the general populace. His civic humanism is found in his assertion that a prince should not resort
to mistreating his subjects. When he is feared enough, the state is strong and every citizen does their
civic duty. In the process no one is hurt and the prince retains his

Effective communication can be in non verbal, verbal or written form. There are several factors that
the sender of the message has to take into consideration and understand in order for that to happen:
understand what they are trying to convey, the audience receiving the message and how the audience
will perceive the message. New Field Grade officers will be assigned to levels in the Army and DoD
that they have not been accustomed to working at while they were Company Gade officers. Some will
have direct daily contact with General officers. Others will be assigned to Joint assignments where the
terminology they are accustomed to will seem like a foreign language to others. An example of
understanding the audience that is receiving the message would be to take the simple phrase secure the
building as understood by member of different services:
The Army will post guards around the place.
The Navy will turn out the lights and lock the doors.
The Marines will kill everybody inside and set up a headquarters
The Air Force will take out a 5 year lease with an option to buy.2 Although the above example is
intended to be humorous it directly proves the point that different branches of service have different
meanings for the same word and/or phrase. This is why it is imperative for senders of a message to
understand their audience and know how their audience will perceive a message.

There is consequently a vast and continuous effort going on to capture our minds in the interest of

consented to permit free competition to be organized by leadership and propaganda. Some of the

general ballyhoo by which politicians and commercial products and social ideas are brought to the

How Did James Weldon Johnson Impact The Harlem Renaissance
The Harlem Renaissance was a time period where African American influencers of the arts found
cultural identity in a white domain in the city of Harlem New York. The Harlem Renaissance is the
rebirth of African American culture in the United States. The rebirth of the African American Culture
was not limited to Harlem, because it also took root in other places, such as Washington DC, Chicago,
and Illinois. The positive culture of the Harlem Renaissance pointed out some of the injustices African
Americans were experiencing throughout the United States, and it was portrayed in their literary arts.
Original leaders in the Harlem Renaissance included James Weldon Johnson. James Weldon Johnson
was one of the first publishers of contemporary black poetry of the 20th century. The name of the
book he published titled The book of American Negro Poetry was a reflection of the writings of
African American poets in the 1920s. James Weldon Johnson helped revitalize African American
culture through his literary works and poetry; the Harlem Renaissance continues to influence the
African American culture through the literary arts, poetry, and the influence of the originators of the
Harlem Renaissance. James Weldon Johnson impacted the Harlem Renaissance through his literary
works. One of these works is known today as The Black National Anthem. (Johnson), created in the
1900 s. The Black National Anthem was written in celebration of Abraham Lincoln s birthday, and it
became originally titled as the Negro National Anthem as stated by the National Association for the
Advancements of Colored People(NAACP). Since then it changed to The Black National Anthem.
The words in the anthem symbolised the racism African Americans encountered. The anthem was a
way of showing patriotism and hope for the future, sung today in churches, assemblies, and black
events throughout the nation. One empowering part in the anthem is We have come, treading our path
through the blood of the slaughtered, Out from the gloomy past, Till now we stand at last Where the
white gleam of our bright star is cast. In reality, Johnson states that throughout history, African
Americans have been slaughtered, beaten, and tortured. African American s are a

The Evolution of the Scarlet Letter
The Evolution of the Scarlet Letter At what point in time can one truly forgive themselves for a sin
they have committed? A week? A month? A year? And what about peers? When do they start forgiving
for a sin? Throughout The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne learns answers to
such questions after it is learned she in an adulteress. Hester s scarlet letter serves as a reminder to
herself and her peers of the sins she has committed, and there is a true evolution from the beginning to
the end of the story of the views of not only the letter but the person wearing it from Hester herself,
the villagers, Pearl, and the author. Throughout the story, the reader can clearly identify the contrast of

Even though she often uses it to taunt Hester, Pearl is a constant reminder of Hester s sin and is always
making sure she has her scarlet letter. Although it is mentioned the narrator in the custom house is not
Nathaniel Hawthorne, they are both very similar. The narrator is carefully constructed as being similar
to Hester in the sense that they are both isolated by people whom they have no connection to. The
author feels this way working in the custom house surrounded by old men. I am a citizen of
somewhere else (31). Hester, of course, is isolated from the rest of the community because of her sin.
Even though the narrator feels he will be criticized for attempting to make a writing career, he makes a
fictional account of Hester s story anyways. Writing for him is similar to needle work for Hester, and
it is a further comparison of two similar characters. The author evolves Hester into himself, and it is
made clear that is his intention. In conclusion, the evolution of Hester, the villagers, Pearl, and the
author of the scarlet letter that Hester wears is generally seen as acceptance of her and her sin. The
author develops Hester into a woman who gradually becomes comfortable with the idea of herself and
her sin. Although Pearl never clearly understands it, she recognizes that her mother will forever be a
sinner, but is still her mother. The villagers at first heckle Hester of her scarlet letter, but begin to see
her true colors. In short, The

Classical And Operant Conditioning And The Field Of...
How have studies of classical and operant conditioning contributed to the field of psychology?
In this essay I will outline the main principles of both operant and classical conditioning methods and
discuss what both theories have contributed to the field of psychology and what they have taught us
about the way in which some human behaviour occurs.
Classical conditioning, also known as Pavlovian conditioning (Davis, S. F., Buskist, W. (2008). 21st
century psychology: a reference handbook Page 312 (Vol. 1). Sage.) states our behaviours are
instigated by associating certain stimuli with other behaviours which involves four main learning
principles known as acquisition, extinction, spontaneous recovery and stimulus generalisation and
discrimination. (Martin, G.N., Carlson, N.R., and Buskist, W. (2013). Psychology. (5th ed.). Page 228
Harlow, Essex: Pearson Education. Chapter 7). Acquisition refers to the learning phase in classical
conditioning when the conditioned stimulus increases in strength, extinction refers to when the
conditioned stimulus is no longer linked with the unconditioned stimulus. Spontaneous recover refers
to the resurfacing of the conditioned response after a period in which the response has been less
apparent. Finally, stimulus generalisation and discrimination refers to when a conditioned response
applies to similar stimuli, for example, being conditioned to fear a stuffed white rabbit the same
behaviour will apply to an object of the same variety

The results of the study reinforce previous findings that back clinical data, advocating for the use of
dietary supplements alongside making lifestyle changes. In 1999, a study looking at the effectiveness
of Reducol and low fat diet in lowering cholesterol levels was conducted by McGill University in
Montreal, Canada. In the study involving 32 subjects, patients who took 1.g a day of Reducol branded
sitosterol with sterol combination recorded a remarkable LDL reduction of up to 24% compared to a
reduction of 9% for those who relied on low fat diet. In the study, no remarkable increases in plasma
sterol were recorded, a fact that suggests the sterols were not absorbed.

Cognitive Dissonance And Its Effects On Behavior
Cognitive Dissonance is refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors. This
produces a feeling of discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to
reduce the discomfort and restore balance etc. The research on cognitive dissonance was done by
Festinger and Carlsmith in 1959. It gives a background history of the time when Cognitive Dissonance
was investigated by Leon Festinger. However, In the case being discussed in this paper, participants
are given a boring task to start with. After the experiment, participants are paid different amounts to
pursue other participates who are waiting to start with task. The participants who are done with the
task feel dissonance when they were asked to pursue someone that the task was fun. There can many
other ways and situations were one can experience dissonance. Also in the discussion there is
inclusion for how to reduce cognitive dissonance which could help one to make better decisions. An
obvious implication of cognitive dissonance theory is that if one wants to change someone s attitude,
one could try to create dissonance concerning that person s attitude and hope that desired attitude
change would result. However, there are other implications of Cognitive Dissonance as well. Much of
the research on dissonance has focused on decision making, counter attitudinal advocacy, forced
compliance, and selective exposure to information.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Analysis
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder characterized by uncontrollable,
unwanted thoughts and repetitive, ritualized behaviors patients feel compelled to perform. When
people have OCD, they probably recognize their obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors as
irrational, but they are unable to resist them.
The DSM 5 provides clinicians with official definitions of and criteria for diagnosing mental disorders
and dysfunctions. Most people with OCD have both obsessions and compulsions, but some people
experience just one or the other (Criterion A). Obsessions are defined by recurrent and persistent
thoughts, urges, or impulses. These are experienced, as intrusive and unwanted, and in most
individuals cause marked anxiety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Males have an earlier OCD onset age than females and are more likely to have comorbid tic disorders.
Gender differences in the pattern of symptom dimensions have been reported. Females are more likely
to have symptoms focused on cleaning and males more likely to have symptoms connected to
forbidden thoughts and symmetry dimensions.
3. Are there any ethical considerations? For example, are there concerns related to offering medication
versus talk therapy? Even in the presentation of symptoms, or which treatment options they select?
Getting proper treatment is essential so patients can learn how to take control of their OCD and gain
relief. Getting relief from OCD is possible with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), sometimes in
combination with medication. CBT has received broad scientific support as the most effective
behavioral treatment for OCD.
Many adolescents struggle with OCD and Lady Macbeth was typical in this respect. Symptoms of this
disorder may cause great distress, and this is intensified when a person is unwilling to admit that
outside help is necessary. It is important to know that teens should be active participants in recovery
from OCD. They have to be willing to engage in CBT and recognize it as something that can help
them overcome the disorder rather than as one more demand made by their

  • 3. An Argument Analysis Of Mozart s Requiem In the last decade, the problem of Mozart s Requiem has divided itself into three categories which most of the scholars have majored on in an attempt to come up with a clear analysis of the arguments and various evidence. The three main problems include the authenticity problem viewed in a narrower sense, the instrumentation problem and the dating problem. According to Friedrich Blume, the question of authenticity comes in when the question of which parts were completed by Mozart and the other parts that were completed by the another composer. It is hard to determine if the other composer followed the concerns that Mozart would wish to be addressed. The issue of instrumentation also becomes of concern in the sense that whether the Sussmayr s manuscript of the whole Requiem uses the instrumentation that Mozart had indicated or whether it is out of the creativity of the master. The dating problem was whether Mozart finished the work when he was on his deathbed or whether he had composed the Requiem before he fell ill. Such problems of the Requiem could only be answered by his close friends who died before the controversy arose. Looking further into this investigation this document will analyze the problems of the Requiem based on arguments from the five scholars: Thomas Bauman, Paul Moseley, Simon Keefe, Christoph Wolff, and Richard Maunder. Bauman provides a thoughtful analysis of the completion of Mozart s Requiem by Richard Maunder. He bases his argument on the fact that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. True Dimensionality of Space-Time Allan Poe states in his essay on cosmology titled Eureka, that space and duration are one. To many, this is portrayed as the first known instance of suggesting space and time to be joined together as one thing. Albert Einstein s 1905 theory of special relativity is the very beginning of a theory related concept of spacetime, but the first mathematical theory of spacetime actually created by one of his own early teachers named Hermann Minkowski. He created the concept of Minkowski Space which is the earliest recommendation to the treatment of space and time as two separate entities of one unified whole. The idea of Minkowski space has led up to special relativity being viewed more so in a geometrical way rather than a scientific and mathematical way. Minkowski space is described as the mathematical formation for which special relativity can be conveniently formulated. In this setting the three dimensions of space are combined with one dimension of time to create a four dimensional whole expressed together as spacetime. It would be considered extremely important to consider the events that space and time can ultimately affect each other and how space and time are used in cosmological research. However, before touching base with the concept of space time, it seems appropriate to tie together the two basic types of dimensions and how they are ultimately applied to each other. Space time is closely linked with Albert Einstein s theory of special relativity, mathematician ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first day of rioting, August 14, 1765, can easily be linked to the passing of the Stamp Act, were it was proposed by the British Government for the colonist to pay an extra tax on all the paper that they used. This first riot came about as a rebellion against the implementation, and against the facilitators, of a tax that was seen unfair. The anger of the colonist was clearly directed towards officials, exemplified by the leveling of what was supposed to be the stamp building. • 8. Donnie Darko vs. Oedipus Rex Essay Greek tragedies were often seen as the foundation to literature not only for the Greeks but also on a universal scale as well. Sophocles Oedipus Rex was one of the more infamous tales because of its provocative and unorthodox nature. The tragedy features a man on a quest to prevent the events of his prophesized life from coming to fruition. The key components of fate, destiny and time can be paralleled to the cult classic film Donnie Darko. In the movie, Donnie suffers from predictions of the future in his own variation of time travel, as a repercussion he has been chosen to rectify the past in order to preserve what is to come. Donnie has to suffer the knowledge that his death would be the only way to prevent the cataclysmic incidents like that of Ashton Kutcher s character Evan Treborn in The Butterfly Effect. He too understood his role in life was apocalyptic as soon as he was conceived. When Donnie ran into Grandma Death she whispered to him that All things die alone, ( Donnie Darko ) it can be seen just how tragic and miserable his life was going to be. After assessing the whole film, it can be realized that she was right because Donnie inevitably died by himself without ever having met Gretchen and without resolving his fight with his mother. Another event can be one of the first encounters with Frank in which ended with 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, 12 seconds ( Donnie Darko ) being etched into his arm. He had his very own expiration date and end of the world timeframe given to him. The very thought of knowing one s own time of death is absolutely frightening and panic inducing. One of the deleted scenes off of the DVD provided more insight into Donnie s mind and his acceptance of death: A storm is coming, Frank says. A storm that will swallow the children, and I will deliver them from the kingdom of pain. I will deliver the children back to their doorsteps; I ll send the monsters back to the underground. I ll send them back to a place where no one else can see them, except for me because I am Donnie Darko ( Donnie Darko ) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Reflection Paper On Wrestling One of the biggest goals I have in life to win a state championship in my favorite sport. That sport is wrestling. I have wrestled since I was young in the third grade. I was considered very overweight for my age. I sat at about ninety pounds as a 9 year old. My parents wanted me to start being physically active and to get in shape. I remember being in a buffalo wild wings and watching a wrestling match on the television and how cool I thought it was. I told my paresnts that wrestling was the sport i wanted to do. The coach was a short man from India and he had tons of experince from teaching wrestling back in his home country. He showed me all of the basics and I felt very proud as i mastered each technique. When the day of my first match came I was so nervous. My first match was called and I went out and lost pretty bad. My next match was called and I lost again and because I had lost two I was out. During the third grade I only won one match. When the fourth grade came around I didnt want to do wrestling anymore because I thought I would just lose again. When I turned twelve and started junior high i heard that the wrestling team was pretty good at that school so I gave it a shot. Since the third and fourth grade I had gotten in much better shape and I did a decent job at wrestling and all the technique I learned was coming back to me. Once seventh grade came I was already ready for wrestling to start. The first duel of the season we had was amazing. I did great my first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Mystery Of The Mary Celeste Mystery of The Mary Celeste What Happened to Her Crew The Mystery of the Mary Celeste has been talked about for centuries. Historical scholars have debated the events that lead to her crews mysterious disappearance. Many books both non fiction and fiction have been written about her. Did an explosion caused by her precious cargo cause her crew to abandon ship? Was there a violent sea quake that made her immobile? Maybe the captain thought her hull was filling with water and sinking after days of violent weather? Looking at each theory gives clues as to what really happened to the Mary Celeste. The Mary Celeste began its fateful journey on November 7, 1872, with her Capt. Benjamin Spooner Briggs, his wife, the couple s 2 year old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The explosion theory; although far fetched, seems to be one very realistic cause of The Celeste s abandonment. The main purpose of the Celeste s voyage was to deliver 1701 barrels of alcohol to Genoa, which was used to fortify wine. Lee explains in his article for the ULC News that: It seemed highly possible that the leaking alcohol caught light, sending Captain Briggs into a panic and prompting the dreaded cry: Abandon ship! It was a plausible explanation but has always been discounted because there was no sign of fire, or explosion. A blast of sufficient magnitude to persuade an experienced captain to take the last resort of abandoning ship would surely have left at least a few scorch marks on the wooden barrels, or in the hold (1). New scientific techniques have been used to solve the great mystery. An experiment, conducted by a scientist at UCL for a Channel 5, shows that an explosion may indeed be the key to the fate of the brigantine and her crew (1). The experiment was conducted by a chemist from The University of Los Angeles, California. Dr. Andrea Sella [UCL Chemistry] built a replica of the hold of the Mary Celeste. Using butane gas, he simulated an explosion that would have been caused by the leaking alcohol in the hull of the Mary Celeste. He did not use wood barrels, instead he used cubes of paper. A huge blast was caused after he set light to the gas; which sent a ball of flame upwards (1). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is evident that German amassing too much power poses a threat to the security of its counterparts in an anarchic system. • 14. Beethoven Seventh Symphony Analysis Pratt Carrol stated that Music is the language of emotion, and emotions tend to be the same the world over, in spite of differences in social customs and language. In other words, music is a fabulous expression of the human being no matter the culture or norms because it manages to immediately transmit different feelings and emotions that other forms of art may not transmit. For my Introduction to music class I decided, to write about the Seventh Symphony in A major (Op. 92) by Ludwig van Beethoven. The reason why I choose this symphony is because it s an emotional piece of music, and it definitely catch my attention since the moment I heard it. I feel this symphony reach emotional situations that are above human explosions. Emotional areas that invade us through a contradictory fact between feelings. The Seventh Symphony in A major by Beethoven appears in 1813. The orchestra contains two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in A, two bassoons, two horns in A (E and D in the inner movements), two trumpets in D, timpani, and strings. Beethoven insisted on directing it at its premiere, with tragicomic results. The critics recognized a new genius of Beethoven; even today there are experts who consider it as the best of their symphonies. Richard Wagner, another fervent Beethovenian, describe this symphony as all tumult, all yearning and storming of heart into the blissful insolence of joy, which snatches us away with bacchanalian might. In the The Macbeth Murder Mystery, I did not only put myself in the place of the both characters, but I also formed my own opinions and found more arguments to get to the truth. The first thing about a good detective is that you could not figure out right away who the murderer is. Shakespeare is far too smart so it is not likely he would have made Macbeth as simple as it seems. This form of propaganda was intended to shape the public s views, and shape their decisions to revolve around political, gender, and social identity. Thousands of young British men like Siegfried Sassoon went into World War I with this idealism. The bloodshed found there came as a tremendous shock, as the war was unlike the image portrayed; the modern war was different and horrifying. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using graphic detail and bitter imagery, Sassoon expressed the contrast between the beautiful nature and the destruction of the war. Sassoon begins by using details and poetic language to describe the beauty of the surroundings, almost to reflect upon the attractive and heroic image of war portrayed through propaganda. This then contrasts sharply with the graphic and detailed description of the battlefield. His clever use of vocabulary was employed with great effect often using words that had more than one definite meaning. In the third line he describes the sun smoldering through spouts of drifting smoke that shroud . The word smoldering evokes a clear image of the sun being covered by this thick infected smoke, and used in conjunction with the word shroud gives the reader an idea of obscurity within the battlefield. On a deeper level, shroud is a metaphor expressing the concealing nature of the smoke to hide the reality of the war. The menacing scarred slope creates a dark, threatening image reflecting the fear these soldiers endured in battle. Although the poem starts of relatively slow, it builds momentum with each new line. Hypatia of Alexandria is a relevant example of the way in which men fear powerful and intelligent women due to their insecurity of losing power. Although the way in which she was brought down is one of the most extreme cases, it resembles much of what continues to go on in Western Civilization. There are both consistencies and inconsistencies between the sources, lecture, and the textbook. The inconsistencies most likely attribute to this aforementioned male insecurity. The Importance of Hypatia for the Development of Western Civilization Much like Hypatia, it is common to see women s accomplishments downplayed and criticized across all of history. With another wave of the feminist movement we have seen in the last few years, Hollywood has decided to do a bit of retelling to set the story straight of a few major events, these specifically focus on The United States. For example, the movie Hidden Figures (2016), directed by Theodore Melfi, speaks about black women working in NASA in the 1960s and how their contributions did much for the success of the program. Another is the documentary Dolores (2017), directed by Peter Bratt, that was based on the life of Dolores Huerta, a civil rights activist that fought alongside Caesar Chaves, yet received none of the credit for all her accomplishments in American History textbooks. In this essay I will outline the main principles of both operant and classical conditioning methods and discuss what both theories have contributed to the field of psychology and what they have taught us about the way in which some human behaviour occurs. Classical conditioning, also known as Pavlovian conditioning (Davis, S. F., Buskist, W. (2008). 21st century psychology: a reference handbook Page 312 (Vol. 1). Sage.) states our behaviours are instigated by associating certain stimuli with other behaviours which involves four main learning principles known as acquisition, extinction, spontaneous recovery and stimulus generalisation and discrimination. Acquisition refers to the learning phase in classical conditioning when the conditioned stimulus increases in strength, extinction refers to when the conditioned stimulus is no longer linked with the unconditioned stimulus. Spontaneous recover refers to the resurfacing of the conditioned response after a period in which the response has been less apparent. Finally, stimulus generalisation and discrimination refers to when a conditioned response applies to similar stimuli, for example, being conditioned to fear a stuffed white rabbit the same behaviour will apply to an object of the same variety ...
