Fice Of National Drug Control Policy
The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) was created by the Anti Drug Abuse Act of
1988 to aid in the declination of illicit drugs within the United States. The ONDCP advises the
president on drug control issues, coordinates drug control activities and related funding across the
Federal government, and produces the National DrugControl Strategy. Within the National Drug
Control Strategy, several goals of the ONDCP are projected. Specifically, this strategy illuminates
seven core goals. The goals are to prevent drug use in communities; seek early intervention
opportunities in health care; integrate treatment for substance use disorder into health care and
supporting recovery; break the cycle of drug use, crime, and incarceration; disrupt domestic drug
trafficking and production; strengthen international partnerships; and improve information systems
to better address drug use and its consequences. The purpose behind these core goals are to aid in
the reduction of substance abuse at an individualistic level so that society can deviate away from
illicit drugs as a whole. One prevention mechanism the ONDCP employ is knowledge. More finely,
the development and distribution of information on youth drug, alcohol, and tobacco use. Examples
of such information can occur by supporting substance abuse prevention on college campuses,
expanding research on understudied substances, or preparing reports on health risks of youth
substance use. This prevention tactic is successful

The Economic Theory Of The Mundell-Drinking Model
The Mundell Fleming model is an economic model introduced by Robert Mundell and Marcus
Fleming. This model is an extension of the IS LM model. The traditional IS LM model studies a
closed economy (autarky), whereas the Mundell Fleming model explains an open economy with a
small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to
foreign trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze
macroeconomic policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal
exchange rate, interest rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an
economy cannot have an independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital
movement at the same time. This theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell
Fleming trilemma. According to this theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed
exchange rate for its currency with another and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the
country can set its own monetary policy and let capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own
monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the country cannot simultaneously have a
fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary policy.
There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium
is achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The investment
/saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher interest
rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively sloped.
The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity
preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity.
Since higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of
output level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows
the combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium,
which means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually

The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust Memorial
1.)Memorialization of any sort can be a tedious process, but those regarding Holocaust
remembrance were particularly challenging given the surrounding social and political controversies
that ensued. This is primarily seen through the issue of representation, which consistently played a
key role in the creation of both the Holocaustmuseum in Washington D.C., and the Dachau
concentration campmemorial. While the Dachau memorial s conception stages, the designers were
contemplating which victim groups to include. For instance, the mayor of Dachau stated, Please do
not make the mistake of thinking that only heroes died in Dachau. Many inmates were...there
because they illegally opposed the regime of the day....You have to remember there were many
criminals and homosexuals in Dachau. Do we want a memorial to such people? (Harold Maruse,
Dachau, 151). With this quote, the mayor implies that the memorial will only be dedicated to those
he deems worthy of representation. Likewise, the White House officials orchestrating the American
Holocaust Museum also debated a similar notion regarding the inclusion of ethic victim groups
other than the Jews. However, Wiesel and other Holocaust survivors believed that commemorating
non Jews was an ...obscene incursion into the boundaries of Holocaust memory by those whose
country men had persecuted survivors (Edward T. Linenthal, Preserving Memory, 53). For this
reason, and in order to avoid the generation of false memories, these groups

Development Of Symphonies And Their Composers
Development of Symphonies and Their Composers Early eighteenth century the term symphony
was applied to the instrumental preludes and postludes of vocal pieces such as arias and songs. By
derivation the word means simply a music ensemble . Today, we apply the term to a much larger
composition such as an orchestra(typically in three or four movements). The symphonycan also be
defined as a sonata for orchestra. Symphonies of the earlier era, the classical era, were mostly
simpler, and followed a smaller scale. Later, during the romantic era, the symphony had grown in
number and length of the movements, the instruments used to increase not only in quantity but in
quality. There was also a wider dynamic range due to the variety in instruments played. Of the
seventeenth century, the term symphony originated from the word Sinfonia , which was used for
introductory movements for operas, oratorios and cantatas. Today, the symphony is generally
regarded as the highest type of instrumental music. Beginning in the eighteenth century, the first
symphonies were intensely developed. Music had three parts: fast, slow, fast, and eventually
became dance like fast. This form became popular in Italy, but then spread to Germany and
England. That s why most music terms are written in Italian. The first movement of the Sinfonia
received little to no attention, it merely served as a cover to the entrance of the people arriving late.
The second movement gave contrast with lyrical melody,

Gilgamesh As A Hero Essay
In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the character Gilgamesh may be considered a hero because he
embodies or participates in some general aspects that are attributable to most heroes. After
Gilgamesh s new friend, Enkidu, passes away Gilgamesh embarks upon a journey to obtain
immortality. During this journey, Gilgamesh encounters difficulties when he needs to cross the
near impassable waters of death; however, Gilgamesh does not get deterred from his journey.
Gilgamesh s dedication forces him to persevere. Gilgamesh s determination is a major strength and
exemplifies his heroism. When Gilgamesh finds Ur Shanabi, Gilgamesh accidentally destroys Ur
Shanabi s magical Stone Charms that can transport him across the waters of death safely. Instead
of giving up, Gilgamesh takes a superhuman risk of using his body as a... Show more content on

Nevertheless, Gilgamesh s other 1/3rd is human which makes him identifiable to the people of
Uruk, the town that Gilgamesh rules. Although Gilgamesh s human side makes him relatable, it
also makes him mortal. Gilgamesh faces the reality of his mortality when Enkidu passes away,
and this scares Gilgamesh into embarking on a journey to obtain immortality. Although Gilgamesh
never gained immortality, he meets Siduri, a tavern keeper, along his journey who encourages
Gilgamesh to live every day as happily as he can; and if he actually complies with this advice, this
would allow Gilgamesh to grow. Gilgamesh could also be considered a hero because some might
see his authority, divineness, strength, and wealth as something to look up to. Unfortunately,
Gilgamesh also personifies the arrogant characteristic of heroes because, after a few days of
mourning Enkidu, Gilgamesh quickly reverts back to focusing on himself and his impermanence.
Gilgamesh s selfish and arrogant ways are weaknesses that one could say prevent him from being

Causes Of Animal Mummification
Mummies, labyrinthine like tombs of past kings, and a plethora of anthropomorphic animal gods
remain the most prominent and iconic images of ancient Egypt in many people s minds even in the
present day. Those common images have shaped the idea that ancient Egypt was obsessed with
death. A mindset like that is understandable due to the high amount of gods the ancient Egyptians
had dedicated to death and the afterlife#. However, the ancient Egyptians did not worship death.
They merely required more odd sounding traditions to be followed due to their religion. For
example, burying their personal belongings including food and pets, or more iconic, the
preservation of bodies by mummification if possible. Perhaps explaining the method and various
reasons for mummification and other topics surrounding it will show that the ancient Egyptians
were not a civilization that worshiped death, and that they simply followed these in some ways
strange religious traditions in an attempt to rest in peace. There is one type of mummification that
most people may not know about. That type is animal mummification#. There are multiple reasons
ancient Egyptians mummified animals. Some Egyptians wanted their pets to be buried with them,
that meant mummification if they could afford it. The other main reason for animal mummification
is for offerings to the different gods in the Egyptian pantheon. When an Egyptian offered a
mummified animal to a god, the idea was that the creature would go and

Advantages Of Interstellar Travel
The possibility of interstellar travel
Many people or even scientists claimed that interstellar travel is impossible. They argue that it
may take a spacecraft too much time to accelerate to a speed close to the speed of light. Some
people think other stars are too far, and it may take hundreds or thousands of years to reach them.
However, as we will show, these arguments don t rule out the possibility of interstellar travel. In
contrast, there are possible method to travel to very far object in a person s life. We don t consider
some possible but still very unrealistic technologies like twisting spacetime.
Interstellar objects are very far. The closest star except the sun is Proxima, with a distance of 4.27
light years. Many stars have a distance of hundreds or thousands of light years. Some people
think it impossible for a spacecraft to reach these stars because any object cannot travel faster
than light. 100 years is required for light to reach an object that is 100 light years away, and it
will take even more time for a spacecraft to reach the object. However, the argument above doesn
t take relativity into account. There are two different reference frame for us to understand this
problem. First, for people live on earth, the time of an astronaut in the spacecraft will slow down
in such a high speed. For example, assume that a spacecraft travel at a constant speed of 0.99c,
and a star is 42 light years away as seen from the earth. People live on earth think the

Struggles Of A Rapid Ascension Of Fame
Struggles of a Rapid Ascension to Fame Rap star G Eazy, born Gerald Earl Gillum, may only be
twenty seven years old but he has played on the same stage as legends such as Jimi Hendrix and
the Beatles to U2 and John Denver to Prince and Macklemore and many more. Coming off his
sophomore album, When It s Dark Out released December 4th, 2015, his career is reaching new
levels of popularity which isn t all it s cut out to be. This album, which featured his triple
platinum single Me, Myself I featuring Bebe Rexha, brings a spotlight to tragedies in his past
and the rollercoaster that was the past two years , said Gerald in an interview with
billboard.com s Adelle Platon. His most popular song, Me, Myself, I released on October 14th,
2015, was released as the lead single for his upcoming album, When It s Dark Out. Me, Myself, I
is in a moderato tempo and in a c minor key, a common key and tempo among the hip hop genre.
In Me Myself and I by G Eazy, Gerald comes to terms with the aspects of being famous and
forever in the spotlight, which he wanted but didn t realize everything else that came with it. He
does this through his thought out lyrics and his use of artistic discretion in the music video that he
released shortly after the song. Within his music video, G Eazy begins by being driven back home
by his foreign girlfriend, a status symbol of superstar lifestyle, and when he gets home he is thrown

The Common Fruit Fly By Gregor Mendel
Abstract:
The basis of genetics were established by Gregor Mendel, an Augustinian monk in the mid to late
1800 s. Through the observations from cross pollinating pea plants, Mendel was able to discover
the basic laws of inheritance. Years later genetics would be studied on a multitude of organisms,
some more than others. Drosophila melanogaster or the common fruit fly has been studied in depth
for its great advantages, such as size, reproduction rate, ease of care and inexpensive room and
board.
In this experiment we tested to see what the offspring of an unknown cross of an F1 generation
would produce. After observing the F2 generation and recording the data we found some of the
Drosophila showed mutations, two in particular. The mutations were the apterus wings, and sepia
eyes. After collecting our data through observation, a Chi test was conducted resulting in a Chi
value of 5.1 and a p value of .2. Since the p value was greater than 0.05, there was no significant
change in the data. This proved that the Drosophila flies still followed the Mendelian genetics of a
9:3:3:1 ratio.

society to society. The change in culture varies due to various reasons it depends on economic and

China where government put a check on online information. Google has a big concern over the

One day her curious mind got the best of her. She opened the box, and all the dark shadows of
hunger, disease, war, greed, anger, jealousy, toil, and all the other hardships man would now
have to face flooded out into the world. Oliva E. Coolidge wrote Prometheus and the First
People for a particular purpose. Oliva wanted people to understand the importance of making a
decision. Each choice you make may not only affect you, but it may affect others. Prometheus
decision caused him to be tortured by Zeus for hundreds of years. Afterwards, it caused the gods
to create a woman for man. Each god gave the woman a special gift. They gave her things like
beauty and curiosity, and her curiosity is what got the best of her. She opened the box the gods
told her never to open and flooded out evil into the world. She caused everyone to experience
severe and live it that kind of world. The world filled with so much evil, murders, robberies, and
treachery the gods choose to destroy it. The gods flooded the Earth sparing only two people, an
elderly couple. The old couple was named Deucalion and Pyrrha, and they were chosen to live
because they lived their lives in truth and justice. The two were too old to recreate more humans, so

Smart Reading Device Of The Future May Be Paper Analysis
The article Why The Smart Reading Device of The Future May be Paper by Brandon Keim is
about the difference between reading on paper or on a screen such as phones, tablets or kindle etc
and depending on the reading style how the reader s comprehension is impacted. The author
shares what researchers have found and focuses on the reader s comprehension because when we

points were brought up and there is a lot to read about and in the end, it depends on the person but
overall different readingstyles matter depending on what it is that you are reading and how long it

Some researchers found that readers were able to learn better when reading from paper while some
it depended on if they were engaged readers. For some readers, it was more difficult because
their performance was impacted from scrolling which is something that I can relate to.
According to the study that was done by Wasteland Text flowing, up and down a page also
disrupts a reader s visual attention forcing eyes to the search for a new starting point and
refocus. When I am reading from a phone or tablet I always have this issue after scrolling I lose
the sentence that I was on and it takes longer for me to read on a screen compared to paper.
Taking time to refocus disrupts the reading the text is blurred because you end up focusing more
on refocusing than continuing to read. This is one of the major reasons why I choose not to
read on screens because there are way too many distractions and I would rather save time and
read from paper. There are times when I prefer to read on screen because I like to be sustainable
and so some texts do need to be printed out depending on length and can be read on screen but I
also like to have physical paper, especially on books and mangas. The author also brings up E
readers may fail to capture a crucial, generally overlooked aspect of paper books: their
physicality. Personally, I enjoy reading when I have the text physically in my hand and my
understanding of the text is much better on paper. Overall deep reading occurs for me when I

Or Fester Like A Sore And A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
As the dream for opportunity in the African American community continually gets repudiated, the
hope shifts to hopelessness. Another visual image that Hughes offers introduces the description of
a sore. For example, as Hughes was writing this poem he inquires, Or fester like a sore / and the
run? (4 5). The use of sore connotes a painful injury. This simile suggests that both a sore and a
dream deferred are both injuries that cause excruciating pain to the human body. The running of the
sore refers to infection that takes part in the sore. Hughes similarly compares the infected sore with
an infection caused by the dream deferred. Syntax pertains to the arrangement of words in the text
including punctuation, length, and focus. Hughes uses

Here is where the star leaves the main sequence. This collapse begins to create more and more
pressure inside the star until it is sufficient to have the fusing process of helium begin in the core,
while some of the remaining hydrogen burns just outside of it. The products of this helium burning

THEORIES OF THE ORIGIN OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM
The Accretion theory
This assumes that the Sun passed through a dense interstellar cloud and emerged surrounded by a
dusty, gaseous envelope. It thus separates the formation of the Sun from that of the planets thus
losing problem 1.
The problem which remains is that of getting the cloud to form the planets. The terrestrial planets
can form in a reasonable time but the gaseous planets take far too long to form. The theory does
not explain satellites or Bode s law and must be considered the weakest of those described here.
The Protoplanet theory
This assumes that initially there is a dense interstellar cloud which will eventually produce a
cluster of stars. Dense regions in the cloud form and coalesce; as the small blobs have random
spins the resulting stars will have a low rotation rates. The planets are smaller blobs captured by the
star. The small blobs would have higher rotation than is seen in the planets but the theory accounts

Inclusion Of The Deaf Counseling Center
In reviewing several videos from the Deaf Counseling Center, I have the utmost respect for
counselors who are in training to learn ASL and have a desire to work with individuals with

found out as an upcoming vocational rehabilitation counselor having difficulty finding signs for

probably the best way for me to go as an upcoming vocational rehabilitation counselor and

Business Line Model Of Nordstrom
Strength The diverse business line model that Nordstrom applies gives them a competitive edge
over their competitors. Unlike many of their competitors, Nordstrom operates in several retail
categories such as: clothing, furniture, bedding, footwear, beauty products, jewelry, house wear and
cafes (Nordstrom Inc, n.d). Operating in multi retail categories gives consumers an incentive to
shop at their shop, over the competitors because the consumer can satisfy all their specific needs
and wants in one store instead of having to visit several. The divergent product line also broadens
Nordstroms target market by offering different products that attract new market segments and reach
the different demographic and purchasing needs of each consumer. Nordstrom s wide product

Many of the earth?s water supplies would be in danger because of incursions of seawater, and the
effects of incurring seawater could be fatal for many species (129). . If one species goes extinct
then in the long run humans suffer. Basic food pyramid principles can be applied to conclude the
effects of species extinction.
When the polar ice caps melt more water is added to the atmosphere. One finding suggests that
the ocean water is less salty then it was under the ice twenty years earlier this would tend to
confirm that the melting and shrinking of the ice caps has already taken place (Barker 43). In
general more rain would occur causing a more humid climate. Heavy rains would cause
mudslides like they did in California last summer killing many people (Cook 58). The rains in
California were torrential and the worst the state has seen in many years (Hayden 13). If the ocean
rises that much then the saltwater incursions would eliminate much of the fresh water in the world.
Moisture fuels many of the worst storms in the world. If the ice caps melt obviously much more
water will be added to the atmosphere. Hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, and
monsoons, are a few of the most dangerous storms fueled by heat and water. Most people know the
catastrophes that all of these storms have created throughout the years. Recently the worst cyclone

Richard Nixon s Improper Behavior
The clear lesson for modern policymakers that can be derived from these episodes of improper
behaviour is that subordinates should have clearly defined responsibilities and be subject to
stringent oversight. Many of the so called White House horrors that occurred during Nixon s term
of office were not committed or even endorsed by him personally, but rather were a natural result
of the chaotic structure of his staff secretariat. As Farrell notes, the accepted historical record is
that Nixon did not have prior knowledge of the Watergate break in, as he sounds genuinely baffled
on the tapes when he is first made aware of the event. The firewall between the president and his
aides ultimately created an arrangement in which Nixon was unable... Show more content on

Clearly, Nixon s fleeting sense of morality during Watergate demonstrates a failure of leadership
of the most severe magnitude. But, to be fair to Nixon, he was a genuine visionary in the field of
foreign policy and his leadership in opening the door to China in 1972 is often regarded as a
stroke of genius. Mao himself acknowledged that only Nixon could go to China . Nixon s legacy,
therefore, is a curious mixture of startling success and abject failure. With this in mind, it seems
there are two essential lessons that policymakers should draw from Nixon s period in office. The
first is that they must always maintain discipline among their staff to avoid creating situations in
which individuals become empowered to conduct themselves unethically with impunity. Secondly,
a leader should be aware of his personal flaws and seek to compensate for them to ensure that they
do not become a caricature of themselves. Had Nixon followed these principles, perhaps his

examples of rules in the movie, but I am going to talk about one particular incident. In beginning

Christ Figures in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet...
Romeo and Juliet as Christ Figures
Introduction and Modern Interpretations
Modern audiences have been reintroduced to William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet largely
through modern film reinterpretations of the play. Many of these films, most notably Baz
Luhrmann s 1996 version of Romeo and Juliet and John Madden s 1998 Shakespeare in Love, have
focused on the tragic destiny of these two star crossed lovers . Seemingly, it is the destiny of
Romeo and Juliet to commit suicide because they are not allowed to love each other. It s the kind
of dramatic story that makes teenage hearts swoon: pure love, passionate love, forbidden love. And
while the passionate romance of young Capulet and young Montague is essential to the play, it is by

Romeo and Juliet are tragic, but not for their ill begotten love. Rather, they are tragic for their roles
as martyrs, sacrificing themselves to make peace between their feuding families. This sacrifice
motif plays to a much more adult audience, taking these two young characters out of the sole
possession of young audiences.
Thomas Otway s Caius Marius; Love in a Time of Civil War
The sacrifice of Romeo and Juliet can be better understood by first entering through the back
door. Caius Marius, written by Thomas Otway was first performed in England in the fall of
1679 and subsequently published a year later (Murray 49). This loosely based version of Romeo
and Juliet was the only exposure that the contemporary theatergoer would have had to the
Romeo and Juliet story. The viewer of this particular version of Romeo and Juliet recognized it
through the author s own concession, as Otway freely admits he has rifled him [Shakespeare] of
half a Play (Prologue). Otway s version is set in classical Rome, and rather than feuding families,
Otway gives us two candidates for the position of Roman Emperor. The reader is immediately
exposed to political strife; there are two factions, each led respectively by Caius Marius Sr. and
Metellus. The connection to Romeo and Juliet is clear; Caius Marius represents the Montague clan
while Metellus is the Roman version of Capulet.
The obvious similarities between Caius Marius and the original

The Moral Philosophy Of The Mercedes Benz Executive...
Recently the Mercedes Benz executive Christoph von Hugo said that the autonomous cars they
are making in the future would save the life of the driver and passengers over the life of a
pedestrian given those as the only two options. In this paper, I will describe Jeremy Bentham s
moral philosophy of utilitarianism and why he would be in support of this statement; I will also
briefly explain Emanuel Kant s moraltheory and why he would be in support of this statement as
well. First I will start by explaining Bentham s version of utilitarianism. This view of moralityis
based on the principle of utility, the idea that an act is right when it maximizes happiness and
minimizes suffering. According to Bentham, Nature has placed mankind under the governance of
two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure. It is for them alone to point out what we ought to do,
as well as to determine what we shall do. (163) This means that the principle of utility is more
than just something we should do, it is something that we must do per the laws of nature. The idea
that nature dictates right and wrong is a key feature of utilitarianism. Other key features of
utilitarianism are: it is consequentialist, egalitarian, and secular; meaning that it considers the
amount of pain and pleasure experienced by everyone impacted by said action equally regardless
of religious beliefs or intent behind the action. Therefore, the only way for an action to be morally
right is if it brings about maximal net

Ordained Ministry Chapter 2 Analysis
After reading Chapter 2 of Pastor: The Theology and Practice of Ordained Ministry by Willimon
I found that there is many ways to minister to people. It is possible to collectively and effectively
utilize a little piece from each area to make it work. The primary thing to realize is that you are not
overly dependent on one area versus another, allow the Holy Spiritto guide you in your ministry.
I see myself as a therapist and a manger as Willimon refers to it in the text. These two
classifications or words appear different when used in ministry. For example, when someone
refers to a therapist what comes to mind? One imagines perhaps someone in an agency with a
desk and a couch who listens to other people s problems or somebody who is guiding a successful
business who may also just be off in an office to themselves. Meanwhile, on the other side of the
spectrum, within ministry the pastor is looked at as more of a healer or mediator for the counselee
and the Holy Spirit and as a person who also multi tasks many other areas of administration.
While counseling the pastor is not worried about worldly issues but is more focused on aiding
you in a more spiritual side of healing. They are still listeners of others problems but the way the

the faithful seeking more and the new Christians thirsting for more knowledge. All of this is done

Romanticism And The Romantic Period
Texts are a product of their literary nature and their context. This certainly applies to the Romantic
Movement in Britain. The 1830s through to 1850s is when American literature emerged. After the
American Independence War that ended in a victory over England in 1812, a new confidence and
sense of national identity emerged. American writers reflected and wrote about the anxieties.
Numerous writers and artists in the early 19th Century placed a special emphasis on the importance
of Americans natural landscape for the development of national character. Americans became
interested in literature centred on urban and natural life.
Romanticism involves a belief general importance of the individual, the personal and the subjective.
Transcendentalism movement inspired writers such as Washington Irving s Legend of Sleepy
Hollow, and The Raven by Edgar Allan Poeother works emphasised the creative powers of the
individual mind, value for nature, and the stultifying effects of institutions. The American
Renaissance arose with the Romantic Movement. Writers such as William Shakespeare s Macbeth
and Matthias GrГјnewald s artwork Crucifixion Isenheim Altarpiece dramatized a culture played
by poverty and tension with the emergence of a new democracy. The Neoclassical movement was
centred during the late 17th Century and 18th Century. Neoclassical artworks such as Pity by
William Blake imitates the style of the Romans and Greeks. This period was the start of modern
middle class and traditional afternoon tea. People would group around to debate politics and other
ideas of enlightenment. Characteristics of writing focused on peoples appearance rather than
feelings or intentions. These movements have some similar aspects to each other, which assisted
with the creation of Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving.
Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a well known poem and play. Macbeth is one of gothic
literature similarly to Sleepy Hollow because of the use of Witches, ghosts, predictions and
unnatural occurrences throughout the poem. In the 16th century, witches were seen as an
unexplainable real supernatural phenomenon that sparked great fear throughout the world. The

I. INTRODUCTION
Smart Farming provides technological solutions to the agri cultural businesses as well as to the
farmers. It has many applications in precision farming, weather forecasting, quality control, data
analyses and collection, etc. With reference to that, crop disease detection is the subset of smart
farming. Crop disease detection plays an integral role in the de velopment of the crops. In
present era, the approach used for detection by farmers is through naked eye. It requires
continuous observation and monitoring which results into loss of time and it is expensive. In
some regions, farmers need to go various places to take guidance from the experts. Henceforth,
automatic prediction of various diseases on the crop will provide real time benefits to the farmers
that will save time, money, and life of the crop. To tackle the increasing inconvenience caused to
farmers, a machine learning model, which can predict occurrence of cotton crop disease based on
the temperature in the real environment and from the soil moisture temperature is proposed in this

How Did The Beatles Change The World
There is no question that the Beatles had an enormous impact on music but their experience
growing up in a changing world also impacted them. They started their career as working class
boys from Liverpool with mop top hair and matching suits and they enjoyed the adoration of
teenagers around the world. But just like those teenagers they grew, questioned, and developed
into world citizens who wanted to do more than just make popular music they wanted to also use

Gender Specific Role In Forging Groups
From the time that fully modern humans emerged about 100,00 years ago up until approximately
12,000 years ago, societies of humans practiced foraging as a means for their survival. This period
in which foraging was predominant is known as the pre complexity period. In the traditional sense,
anthropologists classify complex societies as those that are sedentary and practice farming instead
of foraging. The traditional classification of a sedentary, agrarian society as complex is imperfect
because it discounts the societal complexities found within foraging bands. While these societies
are sometimes portrayed as primitive without culture, they actually have an egalitarian social
structure with language, religion, and a vast knowledge of the landscape in which they lived. The
!Kung people of southern Africa, for example, were able to identify close to 90 different plant
species and utilize them in their diet. While there were clear gender specific roles in foraging
societies, where women tended to gather plants while men hunted, the societies themselves did not

Persuasive Essay Against Euthanasia
Euthanasia
You only get one life. It s actually your duty to live it as fully as possible. (Moyes, Jojo. Me

with prudence. Abdicating your life is vile and dissolute. Assisting in the termination of one s own
life is even more absurd; therefore, it should be hindered. Euthanasia should be stated illegal and
prohibited throughout the whole world, for it leads to disadvantageous long term consciences
including distrusting the medical field and giving more power to doctors than what they deserve.
Usually, those who demand euthanasia are pressured by those around them including doctors, and
they are deceived by their depression.
Euthanasia devastate patients trust in the medical field. If your teacher gave you the choice

Milgram Experiment Reaction
Are We Any Better Now? Reaction Paper
1. How did you score on the class obedience quiz? Does your score make you more or less likely to
shock people in the Milgram experiment?
On the class obedience quiz I scored a 28. This score is some what in the middle but it leans more
towards the resistant side of the spectrum. I believe this score makes me less likely to shock people
if I was a candidate of the Milgram experiment.
2. What is the lesson of the Milgram experiment? Have people learned the lesson of the Milgram
experiment? Why or why not? The lesson of the Milgram experiment is to reveal to society that a
person will go against their belief of what is right and put another man or women through physical
pain and life threatening danger, simply because a male in a ... Show more content on

According to Rothwell, Resistance is a covert form of communicating noncompliance, and it is
often duplicitous and manipulative...when faced with a dominant individual (supervisor, parent, or
group leader), it is often safer to employ indirect means of noncompliance than direct confrontation
or open defiance (326). In the Milgram experiment, there was an authoritative figure giving
commands to the participants. Therefore, in order to resist, using indirect means of noncompliance
would be a more useful tactic. In addition, there are many different resistance techniques and out
of all of them I believe purposeful procrastination would have been the most suitable. Participants
could have procrastinated shocking their victims indefinitely, which would be a useful and subtle
means of defiance. Another reason this could prove useful is because some of the participants
could feel too intimidated by the authoritative figure. Lastly, everyone is different and we all have
different ways of balancing power. I simply would have used defiance and walked

Scotland Act 1998 Essay
The Parliament of the United Kingdom and the Scottish Parliament are the main sources of law in
Scotland. However, the Scotland Act 1998 and the Human Rights Act 1998 are two pieces of
legislation, produced by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, which have had a significant
impact on the development of the law in Scotland. They have made important changes to how law
is made in Scotland and how the Scottish legal system works. This essay aims to examine what it
is these Acts are intended to do, and discuss the impact they have had on the development of law in
Scotland.
Until the Acts of Union 1707, which formed the Parliament of Great Britain (the Parliament of the
United Kingdom from 1801), Scotland had a separate Parliament which was able ... Show more

Some of these matters are; constitutional matters, defence and national security, the fiscal and
monetary system, immigration, energy (including electricity, coal, gas and nuclear energy),
common markets, trade and industry (competition and consumer protection), and employment
legislation. The Act does not contain a similar list of devolved matters, but it is interpreted as
meaning that the Scottish Parliament may legislate on any matter not reserved to the UK
Parliament, including health, education, the legal system, national heritage, housing, local
government, the police and fire services, environmental affairs, and economic development. The
Scotland Act 1998 also provides that the Scottish Government can change the basic rate of income
tax. Previously, before the Scotland Act 1998, all taxation powers were the domain of the UK
Parliament. Therefore, the Scottish Parliament may legislate for any issue which is not a reserved
matter, and as long as the legislation doesn t contravene the criteria set out by Section 29(2). This
has had an impact on the development of the law in Scotland as it means that the Scottish
Parliament may create legislation, however it also means that the Scottish Parliament may only

organisations exist and function within society and consequently are subject to a variety of
social influences. These influences, which include demography, social class and culture, can
change over time and affect both the demand and supply side of the economy. Marketing
organisations recognise and make use of these factors when segmenting markets for consumer
goods and service Worthington, I (2009) p.135. The social demand for chocolate varies for
several reasons. One of which is a change in the level of the population. The population of the
UK is aging, people are living longer and there are a lower percentage of children. This would
indicate that although the population is increasing because of people living longer there are fewer
children, which is the main consumer for the chocolate industry resulting in less demand for the
product. Another factor is the nation becoming more health conscious. There have been recent
concerns in the press regarding the increase of type two diabetes and its link to excess sugar in
our diets. This as well as the obesity rate showing no sign of declining has increased consumer
awareness and is affecting the decisions that are made in respect to the foods they are purchasing.
People will not just buy anything that is on offer but will look for healthier

The Tragic Hero In Sophocles Antigone
Show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy. A tragic hero is a literary character who makes a
judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own destruction. In the play Antigone by Sophocles,
there is a tragic hero. Antigone is the tragic hero in her story. She goes through many issues and
problems. She has to make decisions for herself on what s right and what s wrong. She is the

After Oedipus dies, his two sons (Antigone s brothers) take charge and share the crown. They
take turns every year having the throne and taking control. When Eteocles got the power he
didn t want to give it up to Polynices. Since he wouldn t give Polyneices the throne they decided
to fight. When they did they killed each other simultaneously. Both of the Kings were dead.
After this Eteocles had a proper burial while Polynices was left to rot and be eaten by animals.
When Antigone heard about this, she got very upset. She said The slain man was no villain but a
brother. She didn t understand why only one brother was being treated this way. King Creon
decided to made a law that said anyone who buries Polyneices will be put to death. Even after the
law Antigone knew she had to do what was right. She wanted to please the gods. That was more

about what Creon would do to her in this life and not about what the gods would do in the

The Nature Of Beauty And The Balance Of Life
I stroll through the low lying grass and hear the rushing of the water down the rocks. The sun
glistens on the river following the waterfall. This impeccable beauty of the sun on the water
reminds me how to live my life. Like the water, and the things within it, I should follow the
natural flow. By doing this, beauty will behold me. For if I resist the flow of life it would be like
paddling up stream, which is a task no one enjoys. I must let everything happen and offer no
resistance, then, like the water, the sunwill shine upon me and I will have lived a beautiful and
fulfilling life. As I sit on a rock at the bank of the river I look around and see that everything is
starting bloom. It is spring and the trees are beginning to sprout flowers. The grass is poking out
of the ground with its vibrant green color, and the animals are all coming out to play. Soon enough
all of this will change when autumn comes. This change is the elegance of life; mono no aware.
Both life and death depend on each other making both equally beautiful. The transitory nature of
things is expected and should be embraced for its resplendence not ridiculed.
Though I am a Ch an Buddhist and did not adopt all of the principles of Daoism, I see the mountain

The Use of Social Networking Sites
The Use of Social Networking Sites
Introduction:
Human beings by and large are social. They feel an inherent need to connect and expand their
connections. There is a deep rooted need among humans to share.
In the past, due to geographical distances and economic concerns, connections between people were
limited. A social networkis made up of individuals that are connected to one another by a particular
type of interdependency. It could be ideas, values, trade, anything. Social networks operate on many
levels. Initially social networking happened at family functions where all relative and friends ...

2) Reducing Worker Productivity
There has been evidence to suggest social networking sites are harming businesses. Their
employees are wasting time right throughout the day by participating in social networking sites
rather than actually working. It has been stated that Facebook alone is accountable to wasting more
than ВЈ130 million a day in the UK.
3) How Much Do Social Networking Sites Know?
Perhaps social networking sites have learnt a bit too much information for comfort, Facebook
knows via their program Facebook Beacon that analyses our natural online behaviour how long we
are on the internet for, how often we visit certain websites etc. They monitor your activity even
when you aren t actually even logged in to Facebook!
4) Potential to Cause Harm
There has been many reported cases, where fake accounts have been made, that lead to horrific
tragedies. Such as in October 2006 a fake MySpace account was created that was given the name
of Josh Evans that was closely linked to the suicide of Megan Meier.
5) The Case of Cyber Bullying
As many young teenagers are using social networking sites as a form of communication, this just
provides bullies with another opportunity to traumatise their victims. With few

Second Great Awakening Research Paper
Introduction
The First Great Awakening was a religious revival that was associated with Jonathan Edwards an
American evangelical preacher and Methodist evangelist George Whitfield. The revivals renewed
interest in the Christian faith. During the revivals, it was believed that people experienced
conversions, salvation, regeneration or spiritual rebirth. It was a time of restructuring and re
evaluating political social and religions ideas. The movement sparked the American Revolution
with was fueled by the growing religious alienation between the Revivalist and the established
religion of England. According to Alister E. McGrath, The dominant theme was the desire to break
free from the oppressive and exploitative influence of England . Gusto L. Gonzalez noted that, The
Great Awakening was the first movement to unite the thirteen colonies, which would become the
United States . Moreover, the independence of the thirteen colonies and the wealth created by the
industrial revolution inspired new religious, political and social ideas. The Great Awakening of the

Accordingly, the camp meeting at Cane Ridge, Kentucky played a major role in transforming
religion. Because thousands were saved during the revival, camp meeting became the most popular
way to share the gospel. As a result, Methodist and Baptist congregations became the largest
denomination in the new nation. Consequently, evangelist Charles Finney started revivals that
became popular because of the new measures he implemented. Finney s revivals required that all
non religious activity stop for several days. He also implemented the anxious bench, prayer

Understanding Schizophrenia and Psychosis
Schizophrenia and Psychotherapy Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder differentiated by
degeneration of thought processes and of emotional reaction. It is characterized by auditory
hallucinations, delusions, or disorganized speech and thought process along with considerable
social or occupational dysfunction. Onset of symptoms is usually during early adulthood.
Diagnosis is based on DSM IV criteria for diagnosis of Schizophrenia (PubMed, 2010). It mainly
affects the cognition but behavior and emotion can also be involved. Schizophrenics can have
certain coexisting conditions such as major depression and anxiety disorders. These cognitive,
emotional and behavioral problems can lead to secondary problems like unemployment, academic
difficulties and social issues. Schizophrenics have higher tendency to suicide than general
population which makes their life expectancy 15 years less than the general population. The
average life expectancy of people with the disorder is 12 to 15 years less than those without, the
result of increased physical health problems and a higher suicide rate (about 5%). Following are the
classification of Schizophrenia according to DSM IV Manual Paranoid type: delusions,
hallucinations without affecting the thought behavior, and cognition. (DSM code 295.3/ICD code
F20.0) Disorganized type: Though disorder and flat affect (DSM code 295.1/ICD code F20.1)

After enrollment into the program was complete, HARRIS nor MCGHEE presented HILL with
any questions of how the program worked, timesheet approvals or submissions. HILL monitored
any changes in DANIEL s need for services through face to face monthly visits which lasted about
40 minutes. Changes in the need for services may be due to an admission to the hospital, a long
term nursing facility or relocation to another state.
During HILL s second home visit to HARRIS residence, she told both HARRIS and MCGHEE that
DANIEL could attend a local day care center that provides care for adults 18 years and older with
limited mobility and/or chronic illnesses called JABA. JABA s caregivers specialize in dementia,
and provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL s) and personal care. HILL
emphasized that if DANIEL attended the program during the day, MCGHEE knew she was not to
submit any timesheets for care provided until DANIEL s returned home in the evening.
HILL identified that before JABA, MCGHEE submitted her hours of care for DANIEL correctly.
In April of 2013, DANIEL attended JABA Monday through Friday, usually from morning until
about 5:30 PM. Her morning arrival and evening departure times varied, and she did not attend the
center on days there was inclement

Organizational Development and Change Management
Change is inevitable and has become a way of life. To be able to adapt to the changes is the

It also requires active collaboration and participation of employees and executives, working as team
and frequent and sustained communication about the need for change.
Certain activities need to be undertaken to initiate and manage change. The first activity is
motivating people to change. People will be ready to change only when they feel there is need to
change. People can be made aware of this change by sensitizing them to internal and external
pressures for change, revealing discrepancies between current and desired state. Resistance to
change can be tackled by communicating sufficient information regarding the change and outcome
of change to the members of the organization. Organization members should also be directly
involved in planning and change strategy.
The second activity consists of building a vision were the organization wants to be. It describes the
core ideology and an envisioned future which give a compelling reason for employees to implement
the change.
Political support should be developed by identifying the source of power and key stakeholders.
Transition can be managed by activity planning, commitment planning and management structures.
Sustained momentum of change is one of the crucial activities in changed management. The
momentum for change can be sustained by providing the requisite resources for change, building a

John Kasich Political Analysis
You would think never losing an election, being the governor of a swing state, and creating 317,000
jobs (Hunt,) would cause one to be in the national spotlight, but in the perplexing case of the 2016
United States presidential election, Ohio governor John Kasich has not gained any traction and is
largely unknown among most votingrepublicans. In 2016, Kasich offers the Republican party a
moderate candidate for the presidency, as he is known for sharing views and making compromises
with the Democratic party. John Kasich has made a name for himself by holding various positions
in and out of the government, which has given him the experience necessary for the presidency.

During his time in Ohio, Kasich balanced the budget and the state is now working its way out
of debt. Kasich is a leader who had a 62 percent approval rating in his home state of Ohio, which
shows the fact that he is an effective leader who is supported by his people (Gold.) Views held
by the Governor include defunding Planned Parenthood, having education be controlled at the
local and state level, having the right to bear arms, keeping social safety nets but also removing
Obamacare from that category. Kasich has been campaigning with the Kasich Action Plan, which
outlines Kasich s specific strategy that creates the climate for job creation by balancing the
budget in eight years (Kasich.) Kasich believes that cutting taxes, reforming entitlement
programs, and using reliable energy will help grow the economy. The action plan presents a
philosophy that reforming the economy is the most important part of the federal government and
other issues such as education should be controlled at the state and federal level. So far in the
race for presidency Kasich has won the Ohio primary, which granted him 66 delegates and he has
accrued 143 total (RealClearPolitics.) While it is mathematically impossible for Kasich to gain the
necessary 1,237 delegates, he hopes to prevent Donald Trump and Ted Cruz from getting that many
so there can be a brokered (or contested) convention. Kasich has gone on the record and has said

we did not have only one problem. Educationproblems are the chain to the other problems because
education is the main thing to develop the children and the children will become to the adult in the

Third, Thai education don t have good structure of syllabus. Thai education has many subjects at

mathematics but details are quite same and too many material. Social studies are separate in three
(religion education, duty of citizen and economics). Some subjects are not useful in the life. We

resolve it but if we not start the idea to resolve it today the problem will be escalate. We must
reform it as soon as possible. Problems teach us to develop a bad thing. The reform is not just
only in one thing but the whole education system. Student should pay attention in the class and do

Investigation Of The Inquiry Process Essay
The ability to question, be curious, and inquire is hardwired into the human brain. Everyone is
born with the need and capacity to inquire. The inquiry process is open ended, explores
information, and helps gather evidence in order to construct a valid conclusion as well as to gain
knowledge. The process of inquiry is an effective way to attain necessary knowledgeand
understanding of a questionor problem. Undoubtedly, the inquiry process is a strong foundation
upon which you can begin a successful career, maintain a healthy lifestyle, gain knowledge, as well
as valuable experiences.
The most important part, and the first step, of the inquiry process is to ask questions. Asking
questions is never a negative thing to do, although you must be aware of your surroundings and
make sure the context in which you ask a question is appropriate. This step of the inquiry
process includes engineering a list of questions to help you narrow the what type of career path
you would like to pursue. Next in the inquiry process is career exploration. This step includes
conducting intensive research and examination into career choices, and determining which one
best suits you best based on the questions asked in step one. The third step in the inquiry process

  • 3. Fice Of National Drug Control Policy The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) was created by the Anti Drug Abuse Act of 1988 to aid in the declination of illicit drugs within the United States. The ONDCP advises the president on drug control issues, coordinates drug control activities and related funding across the Federal government, and produces the National DrugControl Strategy. Within the National Drug Control Strategy, several goals of the ONDCP are projected. Specifically, this strategy illuminates seven core goals. The goals are to prevent drug use in communities; seek early intervention opportunities in health care; integrate treatment for substance use disorder into health care and supporting recovery; break the cycle of drug use, crime, and incarceration; disrupt domestic drug trafficking and production; strengthen international partnerships; and improve information systems to better address drug use and its consequences. The purpose behind these core goals are to aid in the reduction of substance abuse at an individualistic level so that society can deviate away from illicit drugs as a whole. One prevention mechanism the ONDCP employ is knowledge. More finely, the development and distribution of information on youth drug, alcohol, and tobacco use. Examples of such information can occur by supporting substance abuse prevention on college campuses, expanding research on understudied substances, or preparing reports on health risks of youth substance use. This prevention tactic is successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Economic Theory Of The Mundell-Drinking Model The Mundell Fleming model is an economic model introduced by Robert Mundell and Marcus Fleming. This model is an extension of the IS LM model. The traditional IS LM model studies a closed economy (autarky), whereas the Mundell Fleming model explains an open economy with a small size (Mundell, 1963). The model explains the mechanism of an economy that is open to foreign trade for goods and financial assets, and gives economists a structure to analyze macroeconomic policies. This model describes the relationship between an economy s nominal exchange rate, interest rate and its output in the short run. With the model, many claim that an economy cannot have an independent monetary policy, a fixed exchange rate and free capital movement at the same time. This theory is often called the impossible trinity or the Mundell Fleming trilemma. According to this theory, a nation has three choices. First, it can have a fixed exchange rate for its currency with another and let capital flow freely across borders. Second, the country can set its own monetary policy and let capital flow freely. Third, it can have its own monetary policy and a fixed exchange rate. However, the country cannot simultaneously have a fixed exchange rate, free flow of capital and its own monetary policy. There are three curves in the graph of the Mundell Fleming model. In an open economy, equilibrium is achieved in the goods market when production is equal to the demand for goods. The investment /saving (IS) curve represents the value of equilibrium for different interest rates. As higher interest rates discourage production through its impact on investment, the IS curve is negatively sloped. The supply and demand for money determine the interest rate in an economy. The liquidity preference/money supply (LM) curve represents the relationship between money and liquidity. Since higher income leads to stronger demand for money, interest rate is an increasing function of output level; hence, the LM curve is positively sloped. The balance of payment (BP) curve shows the combinations of interest rate and real income where the balance of payment is in equilibrium, which means that net export must be equal to net capital outflows. The BP curve is usually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust Memorial 1.)Memorialization of any sort can be a tedious process, but those regarding Holocaust remembrance were particularly challenging given the surrounding social and political controversies that ensued. This is primarily seen through the issue of representation, which consistently played a key role in the creation of both the Holocaustmuseum in Washington D.C., and the Dachau concentration campmemorial. While the Dachau memorial s conception stages, the designers were contemplating which victim groups to include. For instance, the mayor of Dachau stated, Please do not make the mistake of thinking that only heroes died in Dachau. Many inmates were...there because they illegally opposed the regime of the day....You have to remember there were many criminals and homosexuals in Dachau. Do we want a memorial to such people? (Harold Maruse, Dachau, 151). With this quote, the mayor implies that the memorial will only be dedicated to those he deems worthy of representation. Likewise, the White House officials orchestrating the American Holocaust Museum also debated a similar notion regarding the inclusion of ethic victim groups other than the Jews. However, Wiesel and other Holocaust survivors believed that commemorating non Jews was an ...obscene incursion into the boundaries of Holocaust memory by those whose country men had persecuted survivors (Edward T. Linenthal, Preserving Memory, 53). For this reason, and in order to avoid the generation of false memories, these groups ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Development Of Symphonies And Their Composers Development of Symphonies and Their Composers Early eighteenth century the term symphony was applied to the instrumental preludes and postludes of vocal pieces such as arias and songs. By derivation the word means simply a music ensemble . Today, we apply the term to a much larger composition such as an orchestra(typically in three or four movements). The symphonycan also be defined as a sonata for orchestra. Symphonies of the earlier era, the classical era, were mostly simpler, and followed a smaller scale. Later, during the romantic era, the symphony had grown in number and length of the movements, the instruments used to increase not only in quantity but in quality. There was also a wider dynamic range due to the variety in instruments played. Of the seventeenth century, the term symphony originated from the word Sinfonia , which was used for introductory movements for operas, oratorios and cantatas. Today, the symphony is generally regarded as the highest type of instrumental music. Beginning in the eighteenth century, the first symphonies were intensely developed. Music had three parts: fast, slow, fast, and eventually became dance like fast. This form became popular in Italy, but then spread to Germany and England. That s why most music terms are written in Italian. The first movement of the Sinfonia received little to no attention, it merely served as a cover to the entrance of the people arriving late. The second movement gave contrast with lyrical melody, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gilgamesh As A Hero Essay In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the character Gilgamesh may be considered a hero because he embodies or participates in some general aspects that are attributable to most heroes. After Gilgamesh s new friend, Enkidu, passes away Gilgamesh embarks upon a journey to obtain immortality. During this journey, Gilgamesh encounters difficulties when he needs to cross the near impassable waters of death; however, Gilgamesh does not get deterred from his journey. Gilgamesh s dedication forces him to persevere. Gilgamesh s determination is a major strength and exemplifies his heroism. Nevertheless, Gilgamesh s other 1/3rd is human which makes him identifiable to the people of Uruk, the town that Gilgamesh rules. Although Gilgamesh s human side makes him relatable, it also makes him mortal. Gilgamesh faces the reality of his mortality when Enkidu passes away, and this scares Gilgamesh into embarking on a journey to obtain immortality. Although Gilgamesh never gained immortality, he meets Siduri, a tavern keeper, along his journey who encourages Gilgamesh to live every day as happily as he can; and if he actually complies with this advice, this would allow Gilgamesh to grow. Gilgamesh could also be considered a hero because some might see his authority, divineness, strength, and wealth as something to look up to. Unfortunately, Gilgamesh also personifies the arrogant characteristic of heroes because, after a few days of mourning Enkidu, Gilgamesh quickly reverts back to focusing on himself and his impermanence. Gilgamesh s selfish and arrogant ways are weaknesses that one could say prevent him from being considered a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Causes Of Animal Mummification Mummies, labyrinthine like tombs of past kings, and a plethora of anthropomorphic animal gods remain the most prominent and iconic images of ancient Egypt in many people s minds even in the present day. Those common images have shaped the idea that ancient Egypt was obsessed with death. A mindset like that is understandable due to the high amount of gods the ancient Egyptians had dedicated to death and the afterlife#. However, the ancient Egyptians did not worship death. They merely required more odd sounding traditions to be followed due to their religion. For example, burying their personal belongings including food and pets, or more iconic, the preservation of bodies by mummification if possible. Perhaps explaining the method and various reasons for mummification and other topics surrounding it will show that the ancient Egyptians were not a civilization that worshiped death, and that they simply followed these in some ways strange religious traditions in an attempt to rest in peace. There is one type of mummification that most people may not know about. That type is animal mummification#. There are multiple reasons ancient Egyptians mummified animals. Some Egyptians wanted their pets to be buried with them, that meant mummification if they could afford it. The other main reason for animal mummification is for offerings to the different gods in the Egyptian pantheon. When an Egyptian offered a mummified animal to a god, the idea was that the creature would go and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Advantages Of Interstellar Travel The possibility of interstellar travel Many people or even scientists claimed that interstellar travel is impossible. They argue that it may take a spacecraft too much time to accelerate to a speed close to the speed of light. Some people think other stars are too far, and it may take hundreds or thousands of years to reach them. However, as we will show, these arguments don t rule out the possibility of interstellar travel. In contrast, there are possible method to travel to very far object in a person s life. We don t consider some possible but still very unrealistic technologies like twisting spacetime. Interstellar objects are very far. The closest star except the sun is Proxima, with a distance of 4.27 light years. Many stars have a distance of hundreds or thousands of light years. Some people think it impossible for a spacecraft to reach these stars because any object cannot travel faster than light. 100 years is required for light to reach an object that is 100 light years away, and it will take even more time for a spacecraft to reach the object. However, the argument above doesn t take relativity into account. There are two different reference frame for us to understand this problem. First, for people live on earth, the time of an astronaut in the spacecraft will slow down in such a high speed. For example, assume that a spacecraft travel at a constant speed of 0.99c, and a star is 42 light years away as seen from the earth. People live on earth think the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Common Fruit Fly By Gregor Mendel Abstract: The basis of genetics were established by Gregor Mendel, an Augustinian monk in the mid to late 1800 s. Through the observations from cross pollinating pea plants, Mendel was able to discover the basic laws of inheritance. Years later genetics would be studied on a multitude of organisms, some more than others. Drosophila melanogaster or the common fruit fly has been studied in depth for its great advantages, such as size, reproduction rate, ease of care and inexpensive room and board. In this experiment we tested to see what the offspring of an unknown cross of an F1 generation would produce. After observing the F2 generation and recording the data we found some of the Drosophila showed mutations, two in particular. The mutations were the apterus wings, and sepia eyes. After collecting our data through observation, a Chi test was conducted resulting in a Chi value of 5.1 and a p value of .2. Since the p value was greater than 0.05, there was no significant change in the data. This proved that the Drosophila flies still followed the Mendelian genetics of a 9:3:3:1 ratio. Mao himself acknowledged that only Nixon could go to China . Nixon s legacy, therefore, is a curious mixture of startling success and abject failure. With this in mind, it seems there are two essential lessons that policymakers should draw from Nixon s period in office. Thomas Otway s Caius Marius; Love in a Time of Civil War The sacrifice of Romeo and Juliet can be better understood by first entering through the back door. Caius Marius, written by Thomas Otway was first performed in England in the fall of 1679 and subsequently published a year later (Murray 49). This loosely based version of Romeo and Juliet was the only exposure that the contemporary theatergoer would have had to the Romeo and Juliet story. The reader is immediately exposed to political strife; there are two factions, each led respectively by Caius Marius Sr. and Metellus. Recently the Mercedes Benz executive Christoph von Hugo said that the autonomous cars they are making in the future would save the life of the driver and passengers over the life of a pedestrian given those as the only two options. In this paper, I will describe Jeremy Bentham s moral philosophy of utilitarianism and why he would be in support of this statement; I will also briefly explain Emanuel Kant s moraltheory and why he would be in support of this statement as well. First I will start by explaining Bentham s version of utilitarianism. This view of moralityis based on the principle of utility, the idea that an act is right when it maximizes happiness and minimizes suffering. According to Bentham, Nature has placed mankind under the governance of two sovereign masters, pain and pleasure. It is for them alone to point out what we ought to do, as well as to determine what we shall do. (163) This means that the principle of utility is more than just something we should do, it is something that we must do per the laws of nature. The idea that nature dictates right and wrong is a key feature of utilitarianism. Other key features of utilitarianism are: it is consequentialist, egalitarian, and secular; meaning that it considers the amount of pain and pleasure experienced by everyone impacted by said action equally regardless of religious beliefs or intent behind the action. Therefore, the only way for an action to be morally right is if it brings about maximal net ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This period in which foraging was predominant is known as the pre complexity period. In the traditional sense, anthropologists classify complex societies as those that are sedentary and practice farming instead of foraging. The traditional classification of a sedentary, agrarian society as complex is imperfect because it discounts the societal complexities found within foraging bands. While these societies are sometimes portrayed as primitive without culture, they actually have an egalitarian social structure with language, religion, and a vast knowledge of the landscape in which they lived. The !Kung people of southern Africa, for example, were able to identify close to 90 different plant species and utilize them in their diet. While there were clear gender specific roles in foraging societies, where women tended to gather plants while men hunted, the societies themselves did not have persistent inequalities. Life is a celestial object, and we are obliged to handle our lives with prudence. Abdicating your life is vile and dissolute. Assisting in the termination of one s own life is even more absurd; therefore, it should be hindered. Euthanasia should be stated illegal and prohibited throughout the whole world, for it leads to disadvantageous long term consciences including distrusting the medical field and giving more power to doctors than what they deserve. Usually, those who demand euthanasia are pressured by those around them including doctors, and they are deceived by their depression. Euthanasia devastate patients trust in the medical field. If your teacher gave you the choice whether to do your homework or not, what will you choose? Of course, you won t do your homework because it is the easier choice. Human beings are inevitable to pick the obstacle free route; therefore, if doctors were given the choice to simply kill people whose cases seem unpromising, they will select this choice. Doctors will be discouraged to research and create new medicines. What is the point? I can just painlessly and effortlessly kill them . In the Milgram experiment, there was an authoritative figure giving commands to the participants. Therefore, in order to resist, using indirect means of noncompliance would be a more useful tactic. In addition, there are many different resistance techniques and out of all of them I believe purposeful procrastination would have been the most suitable. Participants could have procrastinated shocking their victims indefinitely, which would be a useful and subtle means of defiance. The social demand for chocolate varies for several reasons. One of which is a change in the level of the population.
