Who I Am I
Many obstacles in my life have made me who I am today. I was raised in West Portsmouth, Ohio, a
small town built off football and family. Life in a small town seems to go by very slowly. It s all about
what you make out of it. Certain events and certain people have influenced me in a way that has made
me a better person. The character of one s self is built from all the hard times we go through in life,
not always off of the easy ones.
My father has had a major influence on me during the course of my life, thus far. My dad was in the
Marine Corps before I was born. He was always strict with me with every aspect of my life and has
always pushed me to be a better person. Growing up, I would see him get up early and come home
late from work. He is a very hard working man and I hope I develop at least half of his working
abilities. He has taught me the majority of what I know now. He is a very smart man and it s great to
have a role model like that as my father.
My mother always played a more studious role in my life. She graduated from Shawnee State
University with a degree in nursing. She is a very smart woman and has always pushed me to get good
grades and go to college. I could honestly say that I wouldn t have received half the good grades as I
did if it wasn t for her always checking up and being there for me with my schooling. She s always
had a job as well and she strives to make me a better person religiously and mentally day by day. The
motivation she brings to me

Analysis the Tonight Ensemble from West Side Story
West Side Story
No 10: Tonight (Ensemble)
Maria, Tony, Anita, Riff, Bernardo, Jets and Sharks
In this number, all the participants talk about the eventful evening they feel is ahead, each with their
own thoughts on what will happen.
There are three trains of thought:
1 Riff and Bernardo thinking (in terms of their own gangs) of the fight arranged for later that evening
2 Anita thinking about her nocturnal activities with Bernardo after the fight
3 Tony and Maria more romantic love, idealised, though Tony has to agree with Riff, in exasperation,
to be present at the fight
Each group/individual states their case with their own line (Anita s is related to Riff/Bernardo but
adapted) and then the different melodic lines are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film version plays on this a little just after the Prologue where the Jets laugh as heartily as the
Sharks at a joke made by Bernardo at the expense of the common enemy the police.
Bar 46 verse 3 continuation
A hemiola effect with orchestral tutti chords every three beats. The characters are getting in their
excuses ( well they began it ) first with a particularly childish version of the theme heard at 38 both
quickly observe that their gangs will be the ones to stop the opposition (once again in unison and with
the same lyrics. Sondheim is careful to have no references to Jets or Sharks when both leaders are
singing). At 50 the Tonight motif is heard again. At 50 slinky, glissando saxophones announce
musically the arrival of the alluring Anita for her verse. This sort of sax writing has been used in
innumerable films and television programmes to signify a particularly alluring or sexy (usually
female) character
Bar 53 verse 4
Musically a return to verse one but Anita s snaky, swinging triplets in the vocal part make more of her
suggestive nature (rather than the rather direct and unsubtle quavers of Riff and Bernardo)
Bar 68 verse 4
Anita s Tonight motif overlaps with Tony s tonight on the anacrusis. Again there is a change to A
major as Tony sings

Similarities Between Hidden Figures And Bend It Like Beckham
The movies Hidden Figures, and Bend it like Beckham, directed by Theodore Melfi and Gurinder
Chadha respectively, both explore the dangers that are inherent in a marginalised society. Each text
demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the momentum for an individual
to strive. Through these texts, it is observed that people have no conscience about harming others until
they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in which Jess coach Joe
behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like Beckham. Similarly, this is
shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise that the abuse of power leads to
corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the black and white people in Hidden
Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of the Bhamra s in Bend it like
Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating opportunities rather than seeking it,
this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational rights in Hidden Figures and in Bend it
like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears to be patriotic about his culture. The
resolutions to both texts justify that determination comes from within and that though many factors
can outweigh a person s ability to triumph, consistency can lead to rewarding results. Through the use
of cinematic techniques we are able to further increase our understanding of perseverance

Qualitative Strategies
I will explain how quantitative and qualitative strategies and methods/procedures are similar and
different. In qualitative strategies, there is a focus on data collection, analysis and writing (p. 176). In
qualitative strategies usually may fall in line with survey designs and experiments. The strategies
followed the same general format such as purpose, data collection, data analysis and conclusion. The
differences between the two for methods and procedures is the following: for quantitative methods
they tend to be used in a pretest and posttest control group designs. This is done by following six steps
which include administering measures of the dependent variable, assign the participants to pairs,
randomly assign members to the control group or experimental group, expose the experimental group,
administer measures of dependent variables and finally the performance. For ... Show more content on

There are two examples of qualitative methods, but one can see that the questions ask were best
served by qualitative methods. The question what resources are available to adolescent school students
in India and Sri Lanka to deal with mental health issues? In what ways could they provide assistance?
This is best by qualitative method because you would have spoken to the adolescents to see what they
felt was available to them, that is bets conducted through interviewing. Some additional research
questions they came up with when reviewing their theoretical framework was what were the culturally
valued personal and social competencies?? What were the social stressors? As stated by the video,
qualilative research method would be effective because they were trying to understand mental health
from the perspective of people who s culture differed greatly than the researchers. They desired to

Food Revolution DBQ
Many historians believe that the most significant food revolution was the Neolithic Revolution. This
food revolution dramatically changed the way food was produced. This change had a major political,
social, and economic impact on societies and regions. Due to this, many new advances were produced.
This helped civilization to become more sophisticated, more civilized, and more organized. This shift
from gathering berries and hunting wild animals to producing food by themselves was major because
it resulted in the developement of permanent settlement, social classes, and technology. As mentioned
once before, there was a great change in the way food was produced. Mankind shifted from being

For example, long distance roads. This had a direct economical effect. Persians started using a coinage
system, which before, was bartering/trading/exchanging. Coinage would be easier to carry on long
distance roads instead of goats or other animals which are heavy when traveling long distances. These
roads also had a social effect such as communication between government officials and average
people which improved tremondously. One political effect would be due to coinage which increase the
unity of the government. In conclusion, the change in how food was produced had a great social,
economical, and political impact on societies and regions such as the Sumerians and the Persians.
Food was now produced through farming and agriculture. Surpluses were an example of economical
benefit as they could be traded, Cuneiform was an example of social advancement because it helped
communicate and keep Sumerians organized, and lastly, one political effect was the creation of
governments inclusive of laws and rules to keep people at the time orderly. This change in food
production also supported Sumerians, Persians, and other people to settle down in one place. This
helped them to set their minds on other things which led to the invention of the wheel and many other
improvements

Catholic Death Rituals Essay
Death rituals are an important part of concluding a person s life in nearly all faiths, so the person can
be remembered in a special way as he/she parts the world from his/her family and friends. This report
will explore death rituals in both Catholic and Islamic faiths. The writer will discuss the belief of the
death ritual through celebration, belonging, symbols, purification and the transition into a new
existence. As the report continues, theorists of Arnold van Gennep, Victor Turner and Terence Lovat

These events are taken to extreme measure, making sure every step is taken with care. Theorist
Terence Lovat s theory of the five step approach can be delivered in a Islamic death ritual through the
series of events in the lead up and post of the funeral. The preparation of the funeral happens before
the death of the person. When the Muslim is dying, someone must firmly but gently prompt the person
dying to say the holy declaration prayer, this is called the Shahaada. People can then offer their
condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased, this in Islam is an important act of kindness.
The next important factor is the physical cleansing of the body. The bathing of the corpse is an
important part of Sunnah the Prophet , this is a part of the Islamic Shari ah. The method, the style and
the accessories that are used may vary from time to time and from place to place. After the body has
been cleansed, the corpse is then wrapped in a plain simple cloth, this cloth is called Kafan and the
process called Takfeen . The main factor while wrapping the body is to respectfully cover the private
part, so they aren t visible to others. Islam traditions state that the cloth must be a material must be a
gaudy style as well as the cloth not being too flashy, it is for this reason that most muslims pick a
white cotton cloth. Perfume is often used on the cloth (Amjad,

was allowed to shadow him for the day. A Maine South football game was scheduled for the
afternoon, and the facility was packed with football players. Throughout the time I was there, I made
sure I noted the whole process of an athlete from when they first arrived and when they left the

Hemlock Wooly Adelgid
Why is our state tree (the Eastern Hemlock) in trouble?
The Eastern Hemlock is being attacked by the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid. This invasive aphid like
insect kills Hemlock by feeding on their starch reserves and injecting a toxin into them that causes
their needles to drop more quickly. According to the article Rehabilitation Guidelines for Hemlock
Stands, Adelgids cause damage by depleting the Hemlock s starch reserves. When the starch reserves
are depleted, the tree doesn t have enough energy to grow. The Hemlock Wooly Adelgid s toxin causes
needles to fall off the tree faster, as shown in the article Forest Health Fact Sheet . With less needles to
perform photosynthesis in and not enough energy reserves to grow new ones, the tree is unable to
store enough energy to live well through the dark winters, and it dies within a few years. ... Show

Do The s Better Prepare African American Students For...
Do HBCU s better prepare African American students for careers versus PWI s
Following the ending of the civil war where the southern states within America tried to
leave the union after slavery was abolished, many changes for African Americans were put in
place.(Cozzens) Of these changes was the creation of the freedmen s bureau which served the
purpose of creating educational institutions for African Americans , this historically black
colleges and universities (HBCU s) were founded.(Purnell) Since then, the condition of African
Americans in America has changed, some progress has been made despite there being more
room for improvement. Within this tale of the African American striving for success in
livelihood in America one may bring up an important argument or inquiry; are historically black
colleges and universities better for African American students than predominantly white
institutions(PWI)? This essay will argue as well as compare and contrast if HBCU s are better
for African American students or PWI s. In modern times many college or university graduates
regardless of race struggle to find careers. If there is a general challenge in finding a career
following undergrad then one can infer that this struggle may affect African American graduates
differently. Although,Bachelor s degrees carry the same weight the question whether HBCU s
better prepare black students for a post undergrad career opposed to PWI s still stands today.

was due to the fact that the reds maintained full control over the railway lines that they were able to
keep themselves supplied and t=denied the whites of that benefit. However without Trotsky taking full
advantage of the railways to transport troops and repress the White forces supplies, then success

The Understanding Of Reading Comprehension
Abstract Reading is the process of constructing meaning through the self motivated interaction among
the reader s knowledge and the material proposed by the written language and the context of the
reading situation. The understanding of reading comprehension is to teach reading to students acquire
reading skills to become independent learners. The strategies of teaching will be used to help students
achieve their reading goals. In areas such as mathematics, developing teacher content knowledge has
been a major concern because it is generally accepted that teachers who know these subjects are better
able to teach them. As teachers, we need to research strategies that can be used to teach students how
to read in every content area. Our focus in this literature review will be on mathematics and how
teachers can find different strategies and activities to use to help students learn to read and also to use
prior knowledge as they implement these strategies. Keywords: Knowledge Content, comprehension,
mathematics Introduction Reading is a natural life skill, and students must be able to read in order to
function in society. Even in our everyday responsibilities such as working, grocery shopping, driving,
banking, and reading the newspaper, we are required to do some sort of reading. One of the ways in
which teachers can help students improve their reading skills is through strategy instruction (Duke

Federal Government And The United States
Federal Government
The United States of America government is called the federal government and is the republic of the
fifty states which constitute the United States. It also constitutes the capital districts and several other
territories. Now the government is made up of three different branches and they are the Executive,
Legislature, and the Judicial. Those powers are all vested by the US constitution which is in the
congress, the president, and also the federal court that also includes the Supreme Court. The acts of
congress define the duties and powers which concludes the executive departments and courts that are
inferior to the Supreme Court. When you talk about history and the Federal government that means
you can have a long line of topics and information that you could discuss. There s an outline that is
laid out by the government of the united states and that is called the constitution. The government was
formed in the year of 1789 and that makes it the world s first modern constitutional republic. The
United States government is based on two words or you could call them principles and that s
federalism and republicanism, which means the power is shared between the federal government
along with the state governments. Ever since the American Civil War there s been a really big change
in government and has really expanded at a large rate. Even though there s been certain times that the
legislative branch has had dominance and those were events that were

Criminal Law And Its Effect On Society
Hello Geffrey,
You asked this learner to elaborate more on which laws this learner believe are considered criminal by
the larger society, but may be considered acceptable by the groups lacking wealth ? (Martin, 2016.
Para. 1). Well, this learner will try to address this question.
As we know criminal laws were created for us as a society to follow, maintain, and be punished if the
law is broken. Now, that sounds really good, but as a society this is not true, because these laws are
look good on paper, and are supposed to be equal to everyone (wealthy or poor), but when we take a
closer look it is no. Why, well if you are wealthy enough it can give you a free pass or what this
learner likes to call a free get out of jail, but if you are not wealthy, then you are remanded and will be
put in jail/prison ASAP until they find you a public defender. Do you know how long that can take?
Well in Augusta, GA it can be anywhere from a month up to four if you are lucky (from my personal
perspective and issues).
Now, take a look at this information or example of the wealthy that was discovered by a newspaper:
for over a decade suburban jails in Southern California have been renting upscale cells to affluent
people convicted of crimes in Los Angeles County, these pay to stay programs, also called self pay
jails, cost wealthy prisoners between $45 and $175 a day and include such amenities as iPods, cell

Medium ground finches had small beaks before but changed over time. This was caused because of
evolution and survival of the fittest. When Charles Darwin came onto the island he wondered why
there were many different species of the finches, then he hypothesized that a group of finches might
have came in from South America. Then splitting of the finches and adapting into their environment to

Sacrifice In Great Expectations Analysis
Great Expectations: A Journey of Self Discovery through Sacrifice
Sarah Dessen once said It was amazing how you could get so far from where you d planned, and yet
find it was exactly where you needed to be. This idea of self discovery through sacrifice is echoed by
Charles Dickens in his novel Great Expectations. The central character Pirrup, otherwise known as
Pip, receives great expectations early on in the novel that seem to promise a perfect life. However as
Pip matures throughout the novel and many aspects of his relationships are revealed, it becomes
evident that his expectations are everything but great. In his novel Great Expectations, Charles
Dickens emphasizes the desire to change due to societal expectations. Dickens uses Pip, who fails to
live up to his expectations, to reveal that the sacrifices made in order to change, are often detrimental
to happiness.
In Dicken s novel Great Expectations, which is set in the Victorian era, Dickens uses the social classes
to reveal that change is often driven by societal expectations and can often cause sacrifices to be made
which often lead to an unhappy life. In this era status was important. Those who were in lower classes
strived to move up, and those in higher classes lived lavish lives of elegance. Dickens reveals these
ideas though the actions of other characters as Pip receives his expectations. Uncle Pumblechook, who
wanted nothing to do with Pip before he had received his expectations, says, To think, that I

The Psychological And Psychological Crises Of Kuber And Yank
Sometimes, rather most often, some questions, raised by the impuissant, are never answered; rather
suppressed. Some are never raised as the powerless people, who do not possess the internal and
external courage to pose the hundreds of unanswered questions regarding survival, have been in
severe crisis of existence throughout their life span living as inferior, in terms of every acknowledged
and unacknowledged fundamental needs, among the superior as an evidence and representative of
furtive humanity. This work is an attempt to point out the psychological and physiological crises of
Kuber and Yank, that are contributed by the conflicting factors and forces exist in the society where
extreme dichotomy prevails between and among the people of two opposite classes : one is the upper
class, that always endeavors to exploit the opposite class and, sometimes, homogenous class as well
and the other is the lower class that is always exploited in different forms with the mechanical tools
adopted cunningly, foolishly, intentionally, unintentionally and consciously or subconsciously by the
upper class.

Frederick Jackson Turner Analysis
History is a matter of what happened. Historians, however, work hard to understand why everything
happened. To do so, they must look back hundreds of years to each event and somehow answer the
question, why did this happen? Of these historians, three include Frederick Jackson Turner, who
believed that the western frontier movements were the cause to many events, Richard Hofstadter, who
believed that small groups impacted American politics, and Charles Beard, who felt that the
constitution was written for other reasons than many people thought. Each man picks apart American
history and uses his own interpretation to analyze each event. Although each argument is convincing,
Frederick Jackson Turner s is most definitely the best analysis, as ... Show more content on

In his essay, he states The rising steam navigation on western waters, the opening of the Erie Canal,
and the westward extension of cotton culture added five frontier states in this period (Turner). Turner
uses several different events and connects it to the advancement on the frontier. These are not the only
events that he manages to link the frontier to, as he explains more at a later point in his essay. In
Hofstadter s essay on the paranoid style , Hofstadter uses three events but does not clearly link them to
his theory. As an example, he uses the Illuminati and Masonry as an event to connect things together
but only really explains the history behind this (Hofstadter). He never states how these were affected
by his paranoid style . As well as Hofstadter, Beard did a similar thing in his essay. Beard s idea was
that the Constitution was written for a different purpose than many people think but he rarely
mentions what this purpose was. Beard does state that the underlying purpose of the Constitution was
not the establishment of popular government by means of parliamentary majorities (Beard). Although
this answers to his idea, this is the only time in the entire essay where this is mentioned. In every other
part, Beard is explaining the process of writing the Constitution at the Convention and how the
Articles of Confederation had caused nothing but harm to the new

GMO: The Value Versus Growth Dilemma |
1. What is value investing? What is its rationale? What are GMO s main arguments in favor of value
investing?
Value investing is a way of investing in company stocks that are considered either undervalued or out
of favor by the market. In other word, a value investment is one where the intrinsic value of the stock
is not accurately reflected in the current market valuation. The underlying reason of too much
decreasing in the stock price is that the company may be losing market shares or even in trouble due to
market s panic attributed to negative rumors as well as having management problems. Since the

As a result, he will increase his retention rate, retain revenue, and also provide an opportunity for new

increase the diversification of the overall portfolios; which is that when value stocks are doing well, it
will help offset the growth stocks that are performing poorly and vice versa. Most importantly, GMO
must provide adequate knowledge of growth stocks investing to its clients before allowing them to
invest in them. This will prevent future problems, such as clients complaining about major losses if
growth stock crashes one day.
4. Why wouldn t GMO include Cisco Systems, an otherwise excellent company, in its portfolio at this

Female Roles In The Oresteia By Aeschylus
Female Roles in The Oresteia That woman she manoeuvers like a man (Aeschylus 103). This quote
from the Greek tragedy, The Oresteia by Aeschylus, introduces readers to a theme of the piece: the
role of women. Furthermore, this tragedy gives the reader a view on how women played a role in
ancient Greek society. Additionally, it highlights the reaction, from Greek men, to women in
leadership roles. In the following, you will find a historical account of the role of Greek women, and
how Aeschylus shows a different role of women. Therefore, by reading The Oresteia we can get a
glimpse into what characteristics Greek women embodied. Also, through the actions of female
characters such as Clytemnestra and Electra, we see examples of women ... Show more content on

After reading this quote, one can see that even a murder by a woman is seen as having less weight.
Despite the cruelty of the murder, Clytemnestra killed her husband / king to get revenge for him
killing their daughter years prior. Essentially, King Agamemnon sacrificed his and Clytemnestra s
daughter for better luck in a war. Furthermore, he was never punished for this killing. Therefore,
seeing that the male led judicial system failed to uphold justice, Clytemnestra took it into her own
hands. Overall, this shows a woman recognizing that justice was being put to the wayside and taking
action to make it right. Now, Aeschylus did not explain if Clytemnestra tried to advocate for her
husband to be punished for her late daughters killing. But, he does make clear that she is not happy
with the way in which the counsel dealt with it. Not surprisingly, a woman in charge of a kingdom
would not be taken so lightly in ancient Greece. As a clear example of this, Clytemnestra s taking of
the reins while the king was at war, was met with a fair amount of backlash. Although not publically
scrutinized, Clytemnestra was seen as not fit for the position because of her gender. In fact, this is very
clear when news of the war ending reached Argos. When the watchman told the queen about Troy
being beaten, Clytemnestra took the news directly to the counsel. When she relayed the message, she
was met with skepticism. For example, a chorus

The country I have decided to choose is the amazing and beautiful island of the Dominican

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder Essay
The Eye of the Beholder
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is beautiful to me may not be beautiful to you. An idiom
that is known by almost every nation and culture. However, what happens when society on a
collective whole, perceive a certain characteristic, or body type as beautiful and desirable. When you
are told day by day what is considered appealing, or that a size zero is the ideal body size for a
woman. When women are told you would be prettier if...What is left to be said and done when women
don t meet the criteria of the Goddess like perfection that society decided to shackle them with. It is a
cancerous disease eating away at our sense of self growth and actualization. It is a sickness that needs
a cure, and we as a society must seek to eradicate it, so that we can grow as a people.
Before Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé took over the airwaves, women have been objectified by society,
and their male counterparts, not for what s inside of their heads, but what their heads are attached to.
When a young girl looks in the mirror, they are no longer seeing themselves, but the woman or girl
they wished to be or imitate. They are seeing the cover girl model with the long hair, smooth skin, and
the small waist. As Mrs. Steinem wrote, The power lies not within us but in the gaze of the observers.

name, all that society sees is that she could be a little more pleasing

What Degrees Are Important For Marine Biologists
Important Questions
What degrees are important for marine biologists?
Some schools offer a marine biology degree and most of these are located in coastal states, but the
undergraduate degree need not be in marine biology. It can be in biology, zoology, fisheries, or one of
the other animal sciences. Physical oceanographers, who study the physical as opposed to the
biological aspects of the sea, may work toward an oceanography degree, with coursework weighted
heavily in physics, mathematics, and computer modeling. Biological oceanographers study both the
biological and physical aspects of the sea and their interactions. Your best bet would be to refer to the
guides mentioned above and contact the schools that interest you and learn more about the programs
and degrees they offer. A bachelor s or master s degree is usually required for most starting marine
biological research jobs, but you should also be aware that the usual level of education required to
carry out independent research in biology is a Ph.D., so if you are serious about a full time career and
want to organize your own research projects, you should get your doctorate.

instance, ethology if you are interested in animal behavior). Courses in the social sciences are also

Senior practitioner and management roles
As your knowledge and expertise grow, you could move into more senior practitioner roles. Becoming
a team or unit manager, you could combine responsibility for managing other staff with on going
hands on involvement with mothers and babies. You might consider the role of consultant midwife,
which provides clinical leadership for midwives and others across maternity services, or a
management role such as head of midwifery services or supervisor of midwives at local authority
level.
Education and research
Midwives can take further qualifications in teaching and mentoring to enable them to supervise and
teach student midwives. Some then go on to pursue an academic career in a university, teaching future
midwives and carrying out research that helps move the profession forward. Or you may prefer a
lecturer practitioner role, which allows you to combine an interest in teaching with hands on
midwifery practice.
Related professions
Midwives may choose to move into other related professions, such as neonatal nursing or health
visiting. Neonatal nurses care for women and babies with health complications around birth, for
example, helping pre term babies get through the critical first few days after they re born. Health
visitors work with families at home and in the community, promoting good health with a focus on

Thiosulphate Of Acetic Acid H2so4 And Standardizing Naoh...
Introduction:
The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of acetic acid H2SO4 and standardizing
NaOH using titration technique.
The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was standardized as it is hygroscopic due to a characteristic of sodium
hydroxide that readily absorbing moisture from the air, the NaOH consider a secondary standard
which is a solution whose concentration can only be determined by comparing it to the concentration
of the primary standard. The primary standard mass has to be known for the exact moles that are
needed for reaction with the base.
Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHC8H4O4) is the acid used for this trial to react to the standardized
base NaOH. Also known as potassium acid phthalate, potassium biphthalate, and KHP creates the
chemical reaction with NaOH
〖KHC_8 H_4 O_4〗_((s))+〖NaOH〗_((aq)) □(→) 〖KNaC_8 H_4 O_4〗_((aq))+〖H_2 O〗
_((l)) The titration was performed by filling the buret which adds a measured volume of a chemical
solution, with a solution of known concentration (the titrant) and added the solution of unknown
concentration (the analyte) until it react completely. This is the equivalent point which the number of
moles, stoichiometrically based on the molar ratio, of both reagents (titrant and analyte) are the same
and they react leaving no excess reagent. This is considered the theoretical end of the titration, but the
experimental end of titration can be seen and is signaled by a substance known as an indicator. For this
experiment, the

Deborah Tannen Communication And Marriage Summary
Tannen starts his essay with an example of a daily situation seen in many places between men and
women. It is very common to see men talking a lot within a group of friends, while the women just
sits there and do not say much. However, when arriving or at home the women do all the talking and
many complications arise because she believes her partner does not say much. Tanner addresses the
issue by discussing the reason why men and women can t talk, describing communication styles, and
correlation between communication and marriage/divorce. Men and women are opposite of each other
when it comes to communication; this is the reason there are so many complications in relationships.
According to Deborah Tannen men and women cannot communicate ... Show more content on

Tanner says that talk creates intimacy...marriage is an orgy of closeness: you can tell your feelings and
thoughts, and still be loved while men live in a hierarchical world, where talk maintains independence
and status . Therefore, men want others to see them as intelligent and high in power. That is one of the
reasons why in public many men want to talk a lot and at home they are the total opposite. Therefore,
in order to be successful in marriage they both have to overcome the cross culture communication and
Tanner says that the best way to overcome it is to get a good understanding of how it works. At the
end if the marriage fails is because neither of them tried to get a good understanding of cross cultural
communication.Even though, I am not married and can not relate to this aspect I can relate it to a
boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. With my past boyfriend I would always argue with him because it
seemed like he was not listening to me but, when we hung out with his group of friends he was the
loudest and most talkative. This made me very angry and I just got so tired of him always acting this
way and not paying attention to me. However, if i would of investigated more on the cross culture

The Recent Repatriation Laws Set Up By Egypt And The...
The recent repatriation laws set up by Egypt and the subsequent demands from other nations have
stirred up great debates over who is to have possession over the priceless ancient artifacts. In the last
few decades many countries including Egypt have proclaimed that they want the return of many of
their uncovered artifacts. Egypt s demands stretch from museums in the United States to Europe, with
growing controversy from both sides as to who rightfully owns these historical artifacts. Simply put,
all artifacts discovered in Egypt do technically belong to Egypt. Egyptian museums should have the
right to showcase the history of their ancient predecessors by showcasing the material culture of their
past uncovered from that time. However, the United States along with other Western nations,
particularly England counter their claim by saying that it is in the majorities interest that artifacts from
around the world can be seen in universal museums . That in contrast to the museums in Egypt, a
museum such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art presents to a more diverse audience who can view
and appreciate the value of the greatest of family trees, in which every culture finds its branch . The
argument for universal museums is coupled with the instability of Egypt that results in constant
looting of Egyptian museums. Leaving us with the question of what is the best way to protect our
worlds cultural heritage? Is it best if museums already in possession of ancient artifacts

Similarities Between Frankenstein And The Island Of Dr Moreau
Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Island of Dr. Moreau are
excellent examples of Gothic fiction. These stories deal with the forces of good against evil. The good
forces are the family, social conscience, religious belief and moral judgement, all constituents of a
civilized society. The evil side is the corruption of conscience, the misuse of power, violation of nature
and rampant ego. The themes of each work explore the dual nature of mankind. Behind the benevolent
face of civilization there still lurks the beast within every man and it is this fear that the protagonists
exploit to justify their blasphemous experiments. The brooding gothic background is powerful vehicle
for writers to express their unease regarding the imbalance between nature, science, man and
spirituality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pierre Simon Laplace s Theory Of Determinism
Pierre Simon Laplace was a famous scientist born on March 23, 1749, in Normandy, France. He went
through schooling and later enrolled at Caen University at the age of sixteen to study theology. His
father had an expectation for him to have a career in the church, in those times when people attended
the school Laplace attended, their usual job destinations were the church or army. Laplace went into
neither of those, even those he was studying theology. While at the school he discovered his love for
mathematics and discovered he had a talent in that field. Laplace made numerous contributions
through his work. Besides his work on mathematical astronomy, he also studied planetary orbits.
Laplace is famous for his discovery of what is famously known as Laplace s Demon, which is not an
actual demon. Laplace s Demon was first known as Laplace s Intellect. His thought experiment was
first discovered by him in 1814, which made it the first published work of determinism. Laplace s
Demon, is basically the idea of determinism. His other works, although should still not go unnoticed,
he had a great influence on the progress of the mathematical theory of mechanics, also the Laplace
Operator in potential theory, and the Laplace Transform in the study of differential equations. Laplace
believed that with his discovery, you could measure an atoms velocity and location. Basically, what it
means for his experiment is that if you can calculate those things, you can predict all future

Social Media For Veterans Essay
The first action to be taken to advocate for the hiring of veterans and the establishment of
collaborative programs for the veteran community will be through the use of different social media
tools. To raise awareness on the issues, the use of Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook is best suited for
this objective. Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn are the most widely used forms of social media
today, with Facebook still in the lead for the most used social media platform in the world (Hutt,
2017). These different media platforms would raise awareness of the issue of veteran unemployment
and veteran homelessness since the majority of the public is not aware of the issues veterans face.
Collaborative programs within the community are needed to relieve the issue of veteran homelessness
and social media would reach the community to implement this collaboration. A positive aspect of

The Hope by: Herman Wouk
The book The Hope is the story of Zev Barak, Benny Luria, Sam Pasternak, Kishote, four of Israel s

The book starts out with the war of independence in the town of Latrun with the Haganah 7th brigade.
The battle of Latrun was a battle that took place in beginning phases of the war. This battle was a

Payday Loan Loans Are A Good Option
But sometimes there are unforeseen financial circumstances. Paydays loans are a good option to
consider. Keep these tips in mind when thinking about getting a payday loan.
People should only use a payday loan as their last resort. Loans carry very high interest rates which
actually have you paying close to 25 percent of the initial amount of the loan. Prior to securing a
payday loan, investigate your options. A simple method to find reputable payday loan lenders to to
look on websites that review them. You can get information on which companies are trustworthy and
which ones have shady practices that you should avoid. If set on getting payday loans, review all
information before signing a contract. There are scams that are set up to offer a subscription that you
may or may not want, and take the money right out of your bank checks account without your
knowledge. Do not get involved in a never ending vicious cycle. You should never get a payday loan
to get the money to pay the note on another one. Do everything you can to get out of this cycle. It is
very easy to fall into this trap if you don t take steps to prevent it. The costs can spiral out of control
quickly and leave you broke.

Scrooge Character Analysis
Scrooge is a very angry, rude, unfriendly character. Scrooge s cruel actions to most others are unkind,
especially when it s about Christmas. The bitterness drive in Scrooge against Christmas is very strong.
Scrooge also hates things such as love, happiness, generosity, and regards them as irrational until such
time that a rightful trio of ghosts came to set him right. Charles Dickens paints him as an old
businessman, with a ring of frosty white hair on his head, a pointed nose, red eyes, thin eyebrows, and
a wiry chin. He s so cold inside, it makes his lips blue, the tip of his nose strawberry red. The book
describes him as hard and sharp as flint, self contained, and solitary like an oyster. He is also described
as a greedy man. One last feature is his shrew, grating voice, and on page 1 of the 1st Stave, Charles
writes ...no wind that blew, blew bitterer than he, no falling snow more intent upon its purpose.... .
Scrooge can be an very unfriendly person to be around on the holidays, or in general.
Scrooge describes the first of the three spirits that visited him a person who looks like a cross between
a kid and an old man, or a grandpa. This ghost is named The Ghost of Christmas Past, and the spirit is
illustrated as a ghost whose appearance is constantly changing. So, say, one minute he has two legs,
the next he has eighteen, or he has a head, then he s the Headless Horseman. Furthermore, he has a
light emanating from the top of his head, and it is very, very

  • 2. Who I Am I Many obstacles in my life have made me who I am today. I was raised in West Portsmouth, Ohio, a small town built off football and family. Life in a small town seems to go by very slowly. It s all about what you make out of it. Certain events and certain people have influenced me in a way that has made me a better person. The character of one s self is built from all the hard times we go through in life, not always off of the easy ones. My father has had a major influence on me during the course of my life, thus far. My dad was in the Marine Corps before I was born. He was always strict with me with every aspect of my life and has always pushed me to be a better person. Growing up, I would see him get up early and come home late from work. He is a very hard working man and I hope I develop at least half of his working abilities. He has taught me the majority of what I know now. He is a very smart man and it s great to have a role model like that as my father. My mother always played a more studious role in my life. She graduated from Shawnee State University with a degree in nursing. She is a very smart woman and has always pushed me to get good grades and go to college. I could honestly say that I wouldn t have received half the good grades as I did if it wasn t for her always checking up and being there for me with my schooling. She s always had a job as well and she strives to make me a better person religiously and mentally day by day. The motivation she brings to me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis the Tonight Ensemble from West Side Story West Side Story No 10: Tonight (Ensemble) Maria, Tony, Anita, Riff, Bernardo, Jets and Sharks In this number, all the participants talk about the eventful evening they feel is ahead, each with their own thoughts on what will happen. There are three trains of thought: 1 Riff and Bernardo thinking (in terms of their own gangs) of the fight arranged for later that evening 2 Anita thinking about her nocturnal activities with Bernardo after the fight 3 Tony and Maria more romantic love, idealised, though Tony has to agree with Riff, in exasperation, to be present at the fight Each group/individual states their case with their own line (Anita s is related to Riff/Bernardo but adapted) and then the different melodic lines are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film version plays on this a little just after the Prologue where the Jets laugh as heartily as the Sharks at a joke made by Bernardo at the expense of the common enemy the police. Bar 46 verse 3 continuation A hemiola effect with orchestral tutti chords every three beats. The characters are getting in their excuses ( well they began it ) first with a particularly childish version of the theme heard at 38 both quickly observe that their gangs will be the ones to stop the opposition (once again in unison and with the same lyrics. Sondheim is careful to have no references to Jets or Sharks when both leaders are singing). At 50 the Tonight motif is heard again. At 50 slinky, glissando saxophones announce musically the arrival of the alluring Anita for her verse. This sort of sax writing has been used in innumerable films and television programmes to signify a particularly alluring or sexy (usually female) character Bar 53 verse 4 Musically a return to verse one but Anita s snaky, swinging triplets in the vocal part make more of her suggestive nature (rather than the rather direct and unsubtle quavers of Riff and Bernardo) Bar 68 verse 4 Anita s Tonight motif overlaps with Tony s tonight on the anacrusis. Again there is a change to A major as Tony sings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Similarities Between Hidden Figures And Bend It Like Beckham The movies Hidden Figures, and Bend it like Beckham, directed by Theodore Melfi and Gurinder Chadha respectively, both explore the dangers that are inherent in a marginalised society. Each text demonstrates that hope for change is needed in society as it can build the momentum for an individual to strive. Through these texts, it is observed that people have no conscience about harming others until they learn the truth about their circumstances. This is depicted by the way in which Jess coach Joe behaves after learning about her cultural expectations in Bend it like Beckham. Similarly, this is shown in Hidden Figures by Mr. Harrison. Both directors emphasise that the abuse of power leads to corruption and this can be seen through the segregation between the black and white people in Hidden Figures and the way in which cultural values overrule the lives of the Bhamra s in Bend it like Beckham. Both characters highlight the importance of creating opportunities rather than seeking it, this is shown when Mary Jackson goes to court for educational rights in Hidden Figures and in Bend it like Beckham when Jess stands up to her father who appears to be patriotic about his culture. The resolutions to both texts justify that determination comes from within and that though many factors can outweigh a person s ability to triumph, consistency can lead to rewarding results. Through the use of cinematic techniques we are able to further increase our understanding of perseverance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Qualitative Strategies I will explain how quantitative and qualitative strategies and methods/procedures are similar and different. In qualitative strategies, there is a focus on data collection, analysis and writing (p. 176). In qualitative strategies usually may fall in line with survey designs and experiments. The strategies followed the same general format such as purpose, data collection, data analysis and conclusion. The differences between the two for methods and procedures is the following: for quantitative methods they tend to be used in a pretest and posttest control group designs. This is done by following six steps which include administering measures of the dependent variable, assign the participants to pairs, randomly assign members to the control group or experimental group, expose the experimental group, administer measures of dependent variables and finally the performance. Some additional research questions they came up with when reviewing their theoretical framework was what were the culturally valued personal and social competencies?? What were the social stressors? When the Muslim is dying, someone must firmly but gently prompt the person dying to say the holy declaration prayer, this is called the Shahaada. According to the article Rehabilitation Guidelines for Hemlock Stands, Adelgids cause damage by depleting the Hemlock s starch reserves. • 13. The Understanding Of Reading Comprehension Abstract Reading is the process of constructing meaning through the self motivated interaction among the reader s knowledge and the material proposed by the written language and the context of the reading situation. The understanding of reading comprehension is to teach reading to students acquire reading skills to become independent learners. The strategies of teaching will be used to help students achieve their reading goals. In areas such as mathematics, developing teacher content knowledge has been a major concern because it is generally accepted that teachers who know these subjects are better able to teach them. As teachers, we need to research strategies that can be used to teach students how to read in every content area. Our focus in this literature review will be on mathematics and how teachers can find different strategies and activities to use to help students learn to read and also to use prior knowledge as they implement these strategies. Keywords: Knowledge Content, comprehension, mathematics Introduction Reading is a natural life skill, and students must be able to read in order to function in society. Even in our everyday responsibilities such as working, grocery shopping, driving, banking, and reading the newspaper, we are required to do some sort of reading. Federal Government And The United States Federal Government The United States of America government is called the federal government and is the republic of the fifty states which constitute the United States. It also constitutes the capital districts and several other territories. Now the government is made up of three different branches and they are the Executive, Legislature, and the Judicial. Those powers are all vested by the US constitution which is in the congress, the president, and also the federal court that also includes the Supreme Court. The acts of congress define the duties and powers which concludes the executive departments and courts that are inferior to the Supreme Court. • 16. Criminal Law And Its Effect On Society Hello Geffrey, You asked this learner to elaborate more on which laws this learner believe are considered criminal by the larger society, but may be considered acceptable by the groups lacking wealth ? (Martin, 2016. Para. 1). Well, this learner will try to address this question. As we know criminal laws were created for us as a society to follow, maintain, and be punished if the law is broken. Now, that sounds really good, but as a society this is not true, because these laws are look good on paper, and are supposed to be equal to everyone (wealthy or poor), but when we take a closer look it is no. Why, well if you are wealthy enough it can give you a free pass or what this learner likes to call a free get out of jail, but if you are not wealthy, then you are remanded and will be put in jail/prison ASAP until they find you a public defender. Do you know how long that can take? Well in Augusta, GA it can be anywhere from a month up to four if you are lucky (from my personal perspective and issues). Now, take a look at this information or example of the wealthy that was discovered by a newspaper: for over a decade suburban jails in Southern California have been renting upscale cells to affluent people convicted of crimes in Los Angeles County, these pay to stay programs, also called self pay jails, cost wealthy prisoners between $45 and $175 a day and include such amenities as iPods, cell phones, computers, private cells and work release programs. • 19. Sacrifice In Great Expectations Analysis Great Expectations: A Journey of Self Discovery through Sacrifice Sarah Dessen once said It was amazing how you could get so far from where you d planned, and yet find it was exactly where you needed to be. This idea of self discovery through sacrifice is echoed by Charles Dickens in his novel Great Expectations. The central character Pirrup, otherwise known as Pip, receives great expectations early on in the novel that seem to promise a perfect life. However as Pip matures throughout the novel and many aspects of his relationships are revealed, it becomes evident that his expectations are everything but great. In his novel Great Expectations, Charles Dickens emphasizes the desire to change due to societal expectations. Dickens uses Pip, who fails to live up to his expectations, to reveal that the sacrifices made in order to change, are often detrimental to happiness. In Dicken s novel Great Expectations, which is set in the Victorian era, Dickens uses the social classes to reveal that change is often driven by societal expectations and can often cause sacrifices to be made which often lead to an unhappy life. In this era status was important. Those who were in lower classes strived to move up, and those in higher classes lived lavish lives of elegance. Dickens reveals these ideas though the actions of other characters as Pip receives his expectations. • 21. Frederick Jackson Turner Analysis History is a matter of what happened. Historians, however, work hard to understand why everything happened. To do so, they must look back hundreds of years to each event and somehow answer the question, why did this happen? Of these historians, three include Frederick Jackson Turner, who believed that the western frontier movements were the cause to many events, Richard Hofstadter, who believed that small groups impacted American politics, and Charles Beard, who felt that the constitution was written for other reasons than many people thought. Each man picks apart American history and uses his own interpretation to analyze each event. In his essay, he states The rising steam navigation on western waters, the opening of the Erie Canal, and the westward extension of cotton culture added five frontier states in this period (Turner). Turner uses several different events and connects it to the advancement on the frontier. These are not the only events that he manages to link the frontier to, as he explains more at a later point in his essay. In Hofstadter s essay on the paranoid style , Hofstadter uses three events but does not clearly link them to his theory. As an example, he uses the Illuminati and Masonry as an event to connect things together but only really explains the history behind this (Hofstadter). He never states how these were affected by his paranoid style . As well as Hofstadter, Beard did a similar thing in his essay. Beard s idea was that the Constitution was written for a different purpose than many people think but he rarely mentions what this purpose was. Beard does state that the underlying purpose of the Constitution was not the establishment of popular government by means of parliamentary majorities (Beard). In other word, a value investment is one where the intrinsic value of the stock is not accurately reflected in the current market valuation. This quote from the Greek tragedy, The Oresteia by Aeschylus, introduces readers to a theme of the piece: the role of women. Furthermore, this tragedy gives the reader a view on how women played a role in ancient Greek society. Additionally, it highlights the reaction, from Greek men, to women in leadership roles. In the following, you will find a historical account of the role of Greek women, and how Aeschylus shows a different role of women. After reading this quote, one can see that even a murder by a woman is seen as having less weight. Despite the cruelty of the murder, Clytemnestra killed her husband / king to get revenge for him killing their daughter years prior. Essentially, King Agamemnon sacrificed his and Clytemnestra s daughter for better luck in a war. Furthermore, he was never punished for this killing. Therefore, seeing that the male led judicial system failed to uphold justice, Clytemnestra took it into her own hands. Overall, this shows a woman recognizing that justice was being put to the wayside and taking action to make it right. Now, Aeschylus did not explain if Clytemnestra tried to advocate for her husband to be punished for her late daughters killing. But, he does make clear that she is not happy with the way in which the counsel dealt with it. Not surprisingly, a woman in charge of a kingdom would not be taken so lightly in ancient Greece. As a clear example of this, Clytemnestra s taking of the reins while the king was at war, was met with a fair amount of backlash. Although not publically scrutinized, Clytemnestra was seen as not fit for the position because of her gender. In fact, this is very clear when news of the war ending reached Argos. Introduction: The purpose of this experiment was to find the molarity of acetic acid H2SO4 and standardizing NaOH using titration technique. The sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was standardized as it is hygroscopic due to a characteristic of sodium hydroxide that readily absorbing moisture from the air, the NaOH consider a secondary standard which is a solution whose concentration can only be determined by comparing it to the concentration of the primary standard. The primary standard mass has to be known for the exact moles that are needed for reaction with the base. Potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHC8H4O4) is the acid used for this trial to react to the standardized base NaOH. Also known as potassium acid phthalate, potassium biphthalate, and KHP creates the chemical reaction with NaOH 〖KHC_8 H_4 O_4〗_((s))+〖NaOH〗_((aq)) □(→) 〖KNaC_8 H_4 O_4〗_((aq))+〖H_2 O〗 _((l)) The titration was performed by filling the buret which adds a measured volume of a chemical solution, with a solution of known concentration (the titrant) and added the solution of unknown concentration (the analyte) until it react completely. This is the equivalent point which the number of moles, stoichiometrically based on the molar ratio, of both reagents (titrant and analyte) are the same and they react leaving no excess reagent. This is considered the theoretical end of the titration, but the experimental end of titration can be seen and is signaled by a substance known as an indicator. For this experiment, the ...
