Screencasting is becoming an increasingly common tool for online instruction. Learning theories have shown that multimodal instruction can provide a more effective learning experience. This presentation looks at the different types of screencasts and their instructional purpose in the flipped and online classrooms.
Short introductory level presentation showing how screencasting can be used as a tool in the classroom and the tools that you as a teacher need to get started.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Demonstrate
• concepts
• mathematical equations
• computer software

22. Managing Essential Processing:
Segmentation Pre-training Modality
• keep your screen casts
short max 5 minutes
• introduce one concept
at a time - chunk it
• when explaining a
process ensure
students are familiar
with key terminology
and concepts
• importance of voice as
the visual channel can
become overloaded
when seeing movement
on a screen
TIPS
23. Coherence Redundancy Signaling
• focus on the main point
• do not enhance your
presentation with
unnecessary elements
• if you said it and showed
it on screen there is no
need to spelled it out as
well
• use intonation to highlight
new sections/concepts
• outline steps by using
auditory cues like first,
second
TIPS Reducing Extraneous Processing:
Spacial Continuity
• synchronize your
narration to the actions
you are presenting on the
screen
24. Social Cues:
Personalization Voice Image
• record your screencast as
if you were speaking to
one other person
• use of second person
• add encouraging phrases
“congratulations”
• consider your audience
background
• consider if you need to be
on the screen the whole
time
• if explaining a complex
process or drawing on the
screen remove your
image

This is a introductory workshop which will allow you to think about screen casting as a mode of instruction and how it can fit into your curriculum.
You will walk away with the tools to plan and storyboard your screencast and together with the practical workshop on how to actually make a screen cast these tow workshop will allow you to make an effective and hopefully engaging presentation for your class.
Segmentation: info presented in learner-paced segments
Pre-Training: Students learn better when they are familiar with basic concepts
Modality: Students learn better from animation and narration than animation and on-screen text
Can help you communicate with more clarity and impact than you can with written words alone, especially with a fully online class
modality- common sense if you write it and say it its double reinforced is false as visual channel becomes overloaded
Coherence: when extraneous words, sounds are excluded
Redundancy: when animation and narration than animation, narration and on-screen text
Signaling: when multimedia explanations are signaled
Spacial Continuity: when animation and narration are presented simultaneously
Personalization: when words are presented in a conversational style
Voice : when words are spoken in a standard human voice not machine or accents (you would probably learn better if I did not have an Australian accent)
Image: adding a talking face is not necessarily better
Take into account the type of class you are delivering: flipped, online, hybrid
“A storyboard for video production is essentially a large comic of the film or some section of the film produced beforehand to help directors, and television commercial advertising clients visualize the scenes and find potential problems before they occur. .”
tells a story with scenes,
the level of detail you need to put into a story boarding process will vary with the type of screen cat you are preparing
particularly a screen cast that is a demo of a software there are many benefits to story boarding
use natural casual language
keeping in mind all the principles of multimedia design be concise, write in short straight forward sentences
build in speech intonations and emphasis
keep inn ind when you sit down to actually record your screencast you will end up tweaking it and most likely will not stay 100% with what you have written - this is good as you want to maintain a conversational style to your screencast and not sound scripted
keep in mind that your desktop will be recorded in the screencast so you want to deciliter it and remove anything that is distracting
embed the feedback form directly below the screencast so student can chunk their resonse and stop and start the video
