Puppetry For Information Literacy Videos?!Gaz Johnson
Creating and using effective promotional and educational videos for libraries and information services. Session delivered at the Jan 2010 AOSEC meeting in Portsmouth
Starting Off Right with WordPress- WP-BootCampHandsOnWP.com
This class was presented to the Texas Veteran's Community at the WP-BootCamp In October 2015. Sandi and Nick Batik discussed what we wished we would have known when we started our own WordPress business in 2007. We talked about the skills needed to be successful as a WordPress professional, opportunities within the community, as well as advice and resources.
How to Develop Great Online Video Training Programs | Webinar 05.19.15BizLibrary
We know bite-sized video works to deliver highly effective, targeted learning content and resources to employees. We also know that with the right approach to delivery (mobile!), bite-sized video has the potential to live up to the long promised “anytime, anywhere” learning capability of online training.
The challenge many organizations are now confronting is how to develop customized content to deliver their unique subject matter expertise to employees and maybe even customers in an effective video format.
In this session, you will learn the art and science of developing customized online training videos. Adult learning theory, brain science and memory feedback loop are the foundational principles we’ve relied on for years - and they are still more important than ever! We’ll take these foundational principles and bring them into line with current technology and video capability to help us create, development and then deliver online training videos that work better than any type of online training that’s come before.

The Role of Video in the Flipped ClassroomPaul Richards
This week PTZOptics the professional video camera manufacturer released a free guide for educators creating video for the flipped classroom. The “Flipped Classroom” instructional strategy is being used in school around the world today yet many of the tools educators have always wanted to create unique and engaging video content for flipped classroom teaching are just now becoming commonplace. In a recent video, the PTZOptics live show hosts, Paul Richards and Tess Protesto, explain some of the latest instructional technology available for educators who want to create engaging video content used for the flipped classroom along with a detailed guide.
“Teachers have always wanted to an easy way to create high-quality video content for the online instructional portion of their curriculum.” says Paul Richards, Chief Streaming Officer for PTZOptics. “Today teachers can use a host of easy to use online, cloud-based and even mobile applications to make video creation easier.”
Webinars are a promising way to help organizations develop quality training and outreach programs with a greater reach than traditional face-to-face sessions. Unfortunately, webinars often fall short of their potential because instructors fail to make the training interactive. The possibility and reality can come together, however, with some basic changes in presentation and thoughtful planning.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

8. Step 1
Create a safety committee. The committee should include at least one representative of each department of the
business, and the group should name one representative from each department as the team leader. The team leader
is responsible for ensuring his team evacuates the building, and he must meet team members at a predetermined
location outside the building.
Step 2
Provide evacuation information to all employees before drills begin. Employees must know the evacuation path
for their work area, and the alternative paths in the event an exit is blocked. Create evacuation signs and post them
throughout the building. Employees should also receive information on how to report a fire and use a fire
extinguisher, as well as whom to contact in an emergency.
Step 3
Develop several fire drill scenarios to assist with evacuation preparedness. Have employees stand in front of
different exits holding signs that state "Exit blocked -- choose an alternative route." This will make your
employees aware of the different exit routes from the building and make the the employees think about what
could happen in a real emergency.
Step 4
Conduct regular fire drills, but don't overdo it. For initial training purposes, hold drills every two weeks for a
short period of time. After the training period, a fire drill every three months is sufficient. Holding drills more
frequently can cause your employees to become complacent, and some might refuse to participate. It is also hard
to hold a surprise fire drill if they are too frequent.
