Extenuating Circumstances
Some extenuating circumstances, including relevant dates, which prevented me from meeting credits
under pace and/or the required cumulative GPA is because of three reasons. One of the three reason
dropping out of my two classes and adding two new classes to my schedule so when I dropped two of
my classes and added two different classes, I had a little struggled. Second, was when my grandma
was rushed to the hospital and lastly, when my parents left to Thailand for an family emergency, both
of these emergency made me put myself last because I had to take care of my family members. I really
wasn t prepared for any of these events. Some of these events made it impossible to concentrate on
any school work or get any of my school work done. First, I dropped two of my classes, which was
Speech and English 099, and added two sociology classes to my schedule. I thought that Speech and
English 099 wasn t beneficial for me, as I am still undecided of what my major is. I wanted to take
class that could possibly spark an interest in my eyes and guide me to what it is that I want to be when
I grow up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So I was left to take care of my four younger siblings, drop and pick up my siblings up from school or
any activities that they were in, pay bills, cook food, basically do whatever it was that my mom did
when she was home taking care of us. I had to put my needs behind and help my little siblings like I
did with my grandma. It was the wrong month for my parents to go because that was month was
finals! The only time I got to study for finals was when I was at work, and when everyone was asleep,
other than that, I could not fit time to study for any of my finals. But I can say that when I work, I
somehow manage my time more wisely by doing all of my work in a good pace because that was my

Communications, The Mechanistic Perspective
Communication the process of transmitting and receiving ideas, information, and messages. The rapid
transmission of information over long distances and ready access to information have become
conspicuous and important features of human society, especially in the past 150 years.
The encyclopedia definition of communication encompasses the ideas of exchanging a variety of
messages with others. This is important to remember when looking at communications within an
organization.
The whole process of communications within organizations is very complex and is certainly one of the
major factors in determining whether an organization will succeed or not. The following paper deals
with the different types, influences and improvements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The point is to utilize the best transmission method in order to minimize the decoding difficulty for the
receiver.
Non verbal cues are those expressions of emotions and attitudes toward another person and in
regulating the interaction between people. The text organizes the cues into seven categories and
includes good examples, including: environment, proximity, posture, gestures, facial expressions, eye
behavior and vocalics.
One area missing within communications chapter was what the person is wearing, but was included in
chapter 6, perception and performance evaluations. Many books advocate dressing for success. Some
examples include shopping, salesperson and the office. If you are going to shop at flea markets,
dressing down is a good way to start the bargaining process. A car salesperson should dress to show
that he is successful, but not ostentatious.
In my profession, I dress towards the client based on whether suit and tie or casual are the choice for
the client s organization. This non verbal cue can aid in preparing the initial psychological base for the
remainder of the conversation and ensure that it does not detract from the conversation while it is
ongoing.
Influences on Communication
Physical and personal factors influence communications. Organizational design influences physical
factors, which deals with layout of the office, networks for communications, and the media

Usfk General Order To The Rangers Case Analysis
(4) It is clear the information regarding the application of the USFK General Order to the Rangers was
disseminated to the company. It is also apparent that CPT Jorgensen had at least some knowledge of
this fact. At some point there was serious consideration by CPT Ferriter to call MG Deedrick to ask
for an exception to policy for his men to cover the weekend, particularly because there was an MWR
ski trip planned for Friday 11 MAR 16. CPT Ferriter eventually decided it was not prudent to make
that request and never asked MG Deedrick for the exception.
(5) It appears a second officer in the Company, the FSO 1LT Finlay, was also confused as to the
application of the policy to the B Co Rangers for weekend. In his statement (Exhibit 11) ... Show more

conclude that CPT Jorgensen committed the act of lying to a superior Officer. It is the opinion of this

the calls, coupled with CPT Jorgensen s hung over and exhausted state, than that of an intentional

Why Do We Need International Criminal Court
Do we need an international criminal court ? The International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the
Rome Statute, is the first interminable, treaty based, international criminal court established to help
end exemptions for the perpetrators of the most serious and heinous crimes of concern to the
international community. The ICC was mandated in July of 1998 but was bought into force by July of
2002.1 The Rome Statute is a mutual treaty which serves as the ICC s foundational and leading
document. States which become party to the Rome Statute, for example by passing it, become member
states of the ICC. Currently, there are 122 states which are party to the Rome Statute and as a result
are members of the ICC.2 The creation of the International Criminal Court is a global response to the
extreme mayhem perpetrated in the last century. Unfortunately, in all too many cases, terrible crimes
went unpunished and a alleged culture of impunity protected the perpetrators. National courts often
did not investigate the crimes adequately, or at all. The International criminal court was established at
the Paris Peace Conference Following the First World War, because some of the most heinous crimes
were committed during the conflicts which marked the twentieth century.3 Unfortunately, many of
these violations of international law have remained unpunished and the role of the International
criminal court was to bring past and future dreadful crimes to trial and to be punished, and

The (Mis) Behavior of Successful CEOs Leads to Their Departures
Question 1
The misbehavior forces that were in play in f Harry Stonecipher (p 227), Mark Hurd (p 229) and Brian
Dunn (p 229) cases were to some degree sexual harassment and fraud. Sexual harassment happens
when unwelcome advances, requested for sexual favors, and other types of verbal, psychological, or

did not work directly for Stonecipher and it was not considered harassment (p 229), however there

Research Paper On Iroquois Tribes
The Iroquois people consisted of many different tribes rather than one big group. These groups
included the Seneca, Oneida, Onondaga, Mohawk, Cayuga and the Tuscarora. The Iroquois have
occupied the Eastern Woodlands for over 4,000 years. The Iroquois tribes first settled in the Eastern
Woodlands located in the Eastern United States. This area had thick forests, rivers, hills, and
mountains. One thing the Iroquois were best known for were their longhouses. These longhouses were
estimated to be longer than the length of an entire football field. Inside of the longhouse, there is an
aisle in the middle and living space on either side. The longhouses were matrilineal, so when a
marriage occurred, the family would move into the longhouse of the mother. The Iroquois usually

blueberries, strawberries, and cranberries. Tools were created for farming, such as the wooden rake
used to level the soil, and a wooden spade to dig the soil. After food was dried, it would be placed into
clay pots that were lined with bark to keep mice out. In the fall, men usually hunted for animals like
elk, bears, deer and wolves. During the spring, they would go fishing. Men would also help clear
fields and build villages, but their primary job was warfare. The Iroquois were always grateful for their

Analysis Of The Movie Silver Linings Playbook
A life interchanging from high to low, happy to sad, to the brink of exploding with euphoria to the
lowest low, is the life of a human living with Bipolar disorder. This roller coaster of emotions is
inevitable and almost unlikely to cure in terms of later onset. Living with any personality disorder puts
strain and hardship on your loved ones and is more then anyone would want to deal with in their short
lifetime. These disorders are more common than we know and the way they are treated will determine
the individual s psychological outcome. The movie Silver Linings Playbook does a great job depicting
a character with Bipolar disorder and the struggles the main character Pat faces on a day to day basis
through his road to recovery. Silver Linings Playbook displays many types of psychological disorders
that include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar disorder, and a slight sexual disorder. Bradley
Cooper does an exceptional job playing the role of Pat Solitano, a bipolar patient who has just been
released from a psychiatric ward after almost killing another man for sleeping with his wife. He plans
to relive his past and thinks that nothing has changed since he has been gone, a common occurrence of
a subject with bipolar disorder. On his journey he is set up with the character Tiffany, played by
Jennifer Lawrence. She is a recently widowed woman that uses sex as a way of coping with her loss.
These two characters connect throughout the movie and develop a relationship

The Ancient Mariner
All humans have the ability to imagine anything, regardless of whether it s realistic or not. As a result,
the human imagination can go beyond one s own horizon and expand indefinitely. Samuel Taylor
Coleridge emphasizes the importance of the imagination in his poems. Therefore, in his poem, The
Rime of the Ancient Mariner, he uses supernatural forces to describe the vividness of the human
imagination. When the Ancient Mariner stops the Wedding, he holds him with his glittering eye and
the wedding guest listens like a three years child. (line 15) The way the Mariner look at the Wedding
guest can conclude that the Mariner has some type of mysterious and magnetic power that attracts
people to listen to his tale. The Mariner s glittering eye also symbolizes that the story he is about to
tell is phenomenal.

The fear and bewilderment the sailors feel when the soul takers appear on the ghost ship conveys that

The supernatural forces that govern the atmosphere of the story helped the Mariner survive and tell his

United States Border Patrol Research
The border patrol has been a major problem for many decades concerning illicit drugs entering into
the United States (Levinthal, 2012). Controlling the importation of illicit drugs is not an easy task.
Statistics confirm the combined United States border stretches approximately 7,000 miles (Levinthal,
2012). The amount of government officials needed to monitor the importation of illicit drugs is
unimaginable. Moreover, the government has designated four agencies to reduce the interdiction of
drugs entering into United States territory. The four agencies for reducing illicit drug control in the
United States, includes (1) DEA, (2) the U.S. Customs Border Protection Agency, (3) the U.S. Coast

Coast Guard and is known as the leading marine drug interdiction (Levinthal, 2012). Drug traffickers
use marine passages for importing drugs from overseas (Levinthal, 2012). According to Levinthal
(2012), statistics report six million illicit drugs arrive by sea. In addition, a new method drug
traffickers are using to import by sea is the use of semi subs, which can carry up to twelve metric tons
of cargo (Levinthal, 2012). In 2008, the Coast Guard seized seven metric tons of Columbian cocaine
due to Coast Guard s using helicopters and shooting the vessel down (Levinthal, 2012). In addition,
the Office of National Drug Control Policy (1999) notes, The interagency mission is to reduce the
supply of drugs from source countries by denying smugglers the use of air and maritime routes in the
transit zone. Finally, the last effort which the government utilizes to combat interdiction is through the
U.S. Military (Levinthal, 2012). The U.S. Military is proactive in the enforcement of illicit drug

Pros And Cons Of Virtue Ethics

Ethics in Public Private Life

Flaws of Aristotelian Virtue Ethics
When most think of philosophy a list of people come to mind. You have your greats such as Plato,
Nietzsche, and of course Aristotle. However, this does not mean that their ideas cannot be challenged
and questioned, as no one is above criticism. Aristotelian Virtue Ethics have a major flaw that strikes
at the heart of the idea. There is a severe lack of guidance both in what a virtue is, and what happens
when they conflict. The mains question is, is one virtue more important than another?
What is Aristotle s virtue ethics theory exactly? Aristotle was one of the first to describe this type of
theory and he based it largely on Eudaimonism. Eudaimonism bases virtues in human flourishing,
where flourishing is equated with performing one s distinctive function well (Virtue Ethics). For
humans, Aristotle believed that our main function is reasoning and to live well we would need to
reason well. The largest part of virtue ethics is the titular virtues that decide whether or not a person
was truly flourishing or not.
To first create an argument over the conflict of virtues one must first understand what makes a virtue a
virtue. In Aristotelian Virtue Ethics, a virtue is described as something a virtuous person does. In turn,
a virtuous person is someone who does virtuous acts. This is where a big issue arises in this theory.
There are hardly any ground laws

The Tempest Research Paper
Harmonious Dissonance In The Tempest, William Shakespeare uses the Prospero and Caliban s
servant/master relationship and the motif of magic and power to portray that destruction and
confliction will result when there is an external or internal imbalance between the disordered
Dionysian intoxication and the disciplined Apollonian order. Caliban, who resentfully serves Prospero,
represents the impulsive Dionysian servant whom the Apollonian master counteracts. Caliban is out of
control, even stating that he wishes to have violated the honor of Miranda due to his hate of Prospero.
The growing resentment for Prospero within Caliban leads him to plot Prospero s demise with his
newfound party of intoxicated drunkards, Stephano and Trinculo, whom Caliban ironically reveres as
nobles. Caliban, Stephano, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rise of Caliban, who is drunk with retaliation, represents an imbalance between the Dionysian
impulse and Prospero, who represents Apollonian order. Caliban s plans foreshadow this conflict and
destruction, as he plots to get his island back no matter what the expenses are. This imbalance between
the Dionysian intoxication and impulse and the disciplined, rational, Apollonian order can also be
internally present. Prospero represents the intellectual Apollonian figure, who keeps impetuous threats
like Caliban in check. However, Prospero was once ironically a figure of his own Dionysian factor,
creating an internal imbalance between the opposing factors. Prospero expresses that he was once
intoxicated by his Apollonian studies, as his state was growing stranger in his increasing submersion
to his world of books. This leads Prospero to neglect and lose sight of his government responsibilities,
increasingly turning over the power of Duke to his brother Antonio, who in turn becomes intoxicated
and infatuated with the key of officer and office. Antonio s intoxication of power creates conflict as he
overthrows Prospero

The Importance of Memory in Margaret Atwood s Handmaid s...
For this essay I aim to show the importance of memory and of remembering the past in The Handmaid
s Tale by Margaret Atwood. The Handmaid s Tale is a speculative fiction first published in 1985 but
set in the early 2000s. The novel was in response to changes in US politics with the emergence of
Christian fundamentalism, the New Right. Atwood believed that society was going wrong and wrote
this savage satire, similar to Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal , depicting a dystopia which she uses
as a mirror to hold up to society. I will be focusing on the main character and narrator, Offred, a
handmaid who mingles memories of her life before the revolution with her rebellious activities under
the new regime (book group corner), as she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She forgets where she is and remembers her past life as a waitress. The line between fantasizing about
the past and the harsh reality of her new life breaks down. She smiles blankly at the other Handmaids
and asks them how they are doing. She had a lapse similar to this at the Red Centre where Handmaids
were taught how to act in this new regime. Janine s mental state was frail to begin with and her
automatic reaction to scenes of brutality or stress set off her memories of her previous life. Janine s
breakdown shows how memories affect us. Janine cannot handle the deprivation she is now faced with
compared to the freedoms of her past.
There is a strong link between memories and hope. Raffaela Baccolini discusses this link in her article
The Persistence of Hope in Dystopian Science Fiction. She says that Utopia is maintained in dystopia,
traditionally a bleak, depressing genre with no space for hope in the story, only outside the story.
Offred does not have much, if anything, to stimulate herself with mentally. She is in a bare room with
shatterproof glass that has been made safe to prevent her from committing suicide. Her only escape is
her mind which harbours her memories. She has no hope in her story, which is her life, but she does
have hope

Why Soldiers Don T Talk Randall Jarrell Analysis
World War II was the worst war in history and impacted most countries in some way. This was a war
between the Axis Powers and Allied Powers. The Axis Powers consisted of Germany, Italy and Japan
while the Allied Powers was made up of Britain, Soviet Union, France and the United States. World
War II started in 1939 and ended in 1945. It was the bloodiest war and killed approximately 70 million
people. We were not only at war but United States was going through the Great Depression. The Great
Depression was economical nightmare for Americans. Money became very scarce and families were
struggling to survive. The Serviceman s Readjustment Act was implemented to help those soldiers
who returned home from the war. Why Soldiers Don t Talk by John Steinbeck and The Death of the

Crime Of Organized Crime And Criminal Structures
The topic of this paper is gangsters in organized crime can either work alone or work with other
gangsters. When people commit crimes with other criminals, their personal ties to each other become
strong when there is especially trust or there could be no trust, however, those ties can become strong
at some point.
My paper will be about on the organized criminal structures that Frank Costello had. In the book, it
has a lot of personal ties telling the reader who ties personally that Costello had with people that is
what the paper will be about. In the illegal activities that Costello committed, what type of crimes has
he committed. All of the activities that Costello did during his life will be until his death. My paper

what type of criminal structures Costello had. Was it hierarchical and etc? What money ties or the
economically aspect are in criminal structures will be talked about. My paper will also be about how

How Does Tim O Brien Use Mental Flashbacks In The Things...
Throughout 1964 to 1975 the Vietnam War was taking place on Korean soil in South Vietnam. Many
young soldiers were called to serve during the war including Tim O Brien. In the story The Things
They Carried, Tim O Brien illustrates realistic views by camouflages his past experiences of the
combat to expose the immorality of the war and the life cycle of an American soldier during this era.
As the story unfolds we see evidence of camouflage by O Brien as he creates a replica of a typical day
of a soldier s life with mental flashbacks. Unlike the soldiers, O Brien was engaged with his own pass

The essence of weight not only mental but also physical played an important factor. Endurance,

three standard weapons .... the M 60, M 16 and M 79 were carried because it was appropriate as

protecting their own psyche for some; others for mere realities of life. The soldiers carried these
various objects in addition to the necessities. Items such as the Bible, photos, panty hoes and dope all
helped the soldiers cope with the war. Their function served to allow some of the soldiers to remember
the past, but also concentrate on the future while staying alive. Even though these items were designed
initially for comfort and protection, the outcome proved to be rather insignificant resulting in physical

genital warts, chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, hepatitis, syphilis, vaginitis and trichomonas s. In most
states today, medically, accurate sex education is required to be taught in public schools to the youth

There are many sites that parents need to talk to their children about and regulate such as facebook,
snap chat, Instagram, Hot or Not, You tube, skype and twitter are just a few. This has become more of
a challenge for parents to protect their children. The youth today do not realize the dangers that they
may encounter on a daily basis. In the United States all states allow minors to consent to their own
health services for sexually transmitted diseases. Today children are developing at a much faster rate
and having sex at an earlier age unlike previous generations. Some of the action items that we can do
to help reduce the occurrences in our youth is to have them tested yearly and educate our youth on the
causes and prevention methods. There are injections that help prevent some of the STD s such as the
HPV vaccination. Scientist are still doing research on more vaccines that may later on be able to help
reduce these diseases. But until then we need to make sure that our children are equipped with the
knowledge about these diseases. Most of the youth do not realize that by using barriers such as

Essay on Respect
One of the keys to building or tearing down ego is respect. The communication of respect or the
failure to communicate respect can greatly affect self esteem. Oftentimes it can take a lifetime of
investment to communicate love, respect, and admiration. Self doubt and poor self esteem can often
erode the efforts of a friend or mentor to encourage and support. Oftentimes, though, building and
destroying self esteem can take place in a very short time. The ego buster and the ego booster in my
life are one in the same person. Even more, the busting and boosting took place in the same
conversation.

I responded, I like take home exams. In retrospect, I wish I had given the answer more though. The
teacher had just said how valuable my opinion was in front of the entire class, and I could only must
this brief phrase. In my defense, he did catch me off guard.
I remember his response equally well. Without a single word, he said, Hmpf. It was obvious that my
answer had not been neither as insightful not as informative as he had hoped. In that one exhale of air,
he expressed his frustration, annoyance, and disappointment with my unreasoned and lack luster
response.
In the space of a few seconds, the ego booster became the ego buster, and I left feeling quite small,
regretting my pitiful response.
Since that time, I have thought back on that moment many times. I have wished that I had said
something different. I have wished that I d thought a little bit more about the question. I could have
expounded upon the benefits of a take home exam. I could have explained how take home exams
allow more time for detailed research and thorough response, while in class exams are often rushed
and filled with pressure. I could have argued that in class exams are less about measuring knowledge
and more an exercise in memorization. I have run through the details many times.
Perhaps it says something about me that I could be so greatly

The Role Of The Bird In Madame Ratignolle
This goes to show to the reader how men in the 19th century treated their wives as possessions, they
had a firm hold on their wives which was supported by society. Women who decided to think or act
for themselves were seen as bad mothers and wives, being ostracized completely by all. Edna slowly
begins to realize that she is treated and seen as a piece of property, and a part of her awakening is her
realization that she as an individual, as a woman with desires and needs, is more important than her
demanding family and society. Even though throughout the novella Edna is seen adoring Madame
Ratignolle, she does not want to be in her place or change herself in order to fit her role as a mother.
The imagery and symbolism of the bird is depicted through the novella, where the bird is Edna. A bird
represents a strong character, where it has the ability to fly and soar way from its problems ,but is
trapped in a cage which is parallel to the society Edna is living in. Edna was not only the one to
experience this oppression, but it was a common theme during the Victorian Era,with women being
restricted to the domestic sphere, and having the acting role of a dutiful mother and wife. Edna is also
shown to have a daydream in which a half naked man is observing a bird fly away, which arises a
desire within her to fly away from her husband and her problems.
The third person narrator is letting us know what Edna is truly feel from within. She feels

ANALOGICAL NORMATIVE ARGUMENTS Normative Arguments
Analogies are often used in normative arguments, where the conclusion is a normative statement that
something should (or should not) be done, should (or should not) be legal, or that something is good
(or bad) or right (or wrong). Normative statements are often understood as statements about what is
morally or ethically right or wrong.
To support a normative conclusion, an argument must have at least one normative premise. A
normative feature such as is morally wrong or should be done can t just appear out of nowhere in the
conclusion it must first appear in a premise. An analogical argument with a normative gives us just
what we need to follow this rule: a normative premise to support the normative conclusion.

The UK Education System for Disabled Pupils
The Education System in the UK is presently experiencing a major transform which has no occurred
at any time since Butler Education Act in 1944. There are currently an enormous variety of schools
with extensively mismatched governance, funding arrangements and legal obligations. All pupils in
England, excluding those at self governing (i.e. private or fee paying) schools and the recent
academies are necessary to remain to the National Curriculum. Northern Ireland and Wales mainly
pursue the National Curriculum needs. United Kingdom independently addresses the needs and rights
of pupils and children with disability/special educational requirements (Adams Brown, 2006). The

The Movie The Forest
The movies. A place where everyone comes to see entertainment on the big screen. Going to the
movies has become very common in American culture. Sometimes though movies can be more than
movies; they become events which can pull you in and make you feel like you are a part of the movie.
No movies do that better than horror movies, which could have you sitting at the edge of your seat in
one minute, then have you cowering back in your seat the next minute. I experienced a horror movie
like that, it pulled me into the movie and made me feel everything the main character felt. The movie
is called The Forest. The movie uses effective scare tactics such as creepy environment, jump scares,
and psychological horror. The Forest is about a woman going to find her twin sister who got lost in a
forest. But it is not just any forest the sister got lost in, it is the Aokigahara forest in Japan which is
also called the suicide forest because of the high amounts of suicides committed in the forest. The
movie is able to utilize the inherent creepiness in the forest, to keep the movie suspenseful and full of
tension. Throughout the movie the forest is eerily quiet and all you hear is the crunching of twigs
under the protagonist feet or the sound of the wind rustling the branches of the trees. All these sounds
keep you at the edge of your seat, wondering when the first ghost or ghoul will pop out. Since there is
no real music, and no signs when a jump scare could happen you are left

cruelness had been proven many times through tragic and unhuman events such Jewish Holocaust.
However the time when Hitler did grow and develop his anti Semitic ideology hasn t been made

The Ratio And Cash Ratio
Liquidity is the ability to convert any asset into cash quickly. Liquidity is important because liquid
assets can provide cash that can be reinvested into other assets when prices are low. This can also
reduce some investing risks by ensuring that an investor will be able to quickly react to market moves.
There are several ratios that are used to measure liquidity the current, quick, and cash ratios.
Essentially, the higher the current asset ratio, the better. Amazon s current ratio (107%) is higher than
that of Walmart (83%) and this suggests that this company s short term assets are more readily
available to pay off the company s short term liabilities than Walmart.

A higher margin percentage indicates a higher profitability. Therefore, Amazon (27.2) would appear to
be more profitable than Walmart (24.9). In their 2013 financial report, Amazon demonstrates that their
gross profit margin has increased in 2013 compared to prior years which they attribute to their
increase in their total sales/service sales.
The operating profit margin is another quantitative measure of profitability. Investors pay close
attention to this ratio because positive and negative trends in the operating margin are attributable to
management decisions. Amazon s operating profit margin (1.0) is significantly lower than that of
Walmart (5.90). This means that a net profit of $5.90 is made on each dollar of sales at Walmart
whereas Amazon only makes a net profit of $1.00 on each dollar of sales. This indicates that a higher
proportion of Walmart s revenue is converted to operating income. Over the past few years, Amazon s
operating margin ratio has actually declined which signifies that their probability is not improving as
of resent times. In comparison, Walmart s operating margin has been consistent or stable for the past
few years.
Net profit margin is most often mentioned when discussing the profitability of a company because
investors can see a great deal from a net profit analysis For example, this measurement allows them to

Similarities Between Bonnie And Clyde
Are you familiar with Bonnie and Clyde? If not, they were a couple, who were also criminals.
Through The Great Depression, they went around the United States committing crimes. They ran
against the law for just about four years, they were just about invincible. I will be talking about how
they met, their early life, and their journey together. They had a very interesting journey. It is so
interesting how opposite they were, yet still so much alike.
Bonnie Parker was born on October 1, 1910. When she was just four years old her father died, and her
mother took her family to a poor suburb of Dallas. From several people, Bonnie was beautiful, was 4
11, and was approximately 90 pounds. She was a bright student and earned honors in her studies. ...

would she stay with Clyde and live a life running from the law, or would she leave him and start
fresh? She had known that since Clyde vowed never to go back to prison, if she stayed with him they
both would die soon. She stayed with him. To help avoid being captured, Clyde would be in a different
car frequently. In the months that followed, Clyde and a changing gang committed a series of
robberies at various small businesses and banks. Clyde killed a police officer and store owner during
his group s crime spree, and thus became a highly wanted man with a price on his head. (

Analysis Of Aphra Behn s Oroonoko
Aphra Behn, since the start of story Oroonoko takes on an apologetic tone in her narration of the story.
She starts of by apologizing (examples) as to the form of her writing and why she writes some parts of
the story while omitting others. It is not fully understood whether when Behn refers to being a female
pen she does so in a sarcastic way or with a deeper meaning, giving a double sense to her story. That
although she writes about a male character, she decides to write and exalt those parts of his life that
were influenced by a woman, making them as something as a very meaningful part of his story that
influenced his actions, exalting the role of a woman in this great man s life.
First of all speaking of the characterization of women in her story, we see that women are treated
merely as objects and do not have the power to make decisions for themselves, they are mostly always
under the strict rule of a man. Starting off with the character of Imoinda, we see that she only has a
considerable power because of her beauty. It is because of her beauty and her shy manner that
Oroonoko finds her so attractive, and therefore decides to marry her and have her as his only wife for
the rest of his life. After getting married, Imoinda is called by the King of Kalimenes to join his
multitude of wives. The only reason that Imoinda can proclaim to let her be slightly safe from the king
is to tell him that she is married; meaning that only by being under the protection of marriage to

Designing A Building Or Interior Design For Lure Customers
Many restaurants and shops use the look of their building or interior design to lure customers in. Some
businesses try to appeal to everyone by using common things that everyone likes, while some
businesses try to aim at a certain group of individuals that are into a specific type of theme. In general,
we can all agree that a boring place isn t very appealing to go into to eat or shop so business owners
try to appeal to their customers so that they can attract more business. One tactic for bringing in more
customers can be seen through the use of color among the business s interior or exterior. Use of wall
space also has an important role in catching people s eye; what is on the walls and how they are used
is a common way to lure in people. Another common and great tactic includes the use of music or
media like T.V, what the T.V is showing or the music being played can help bring more people into a
place. Buffalo Wild Wings use all three of these strategies to attract its customers, mainly targeting
those who have a love of sports.
The way a store or restaurant looks and is set up can often affect people s opinion of the business and
can even determine who shops or eats at the location. When looking for restaurants the first thing one
sees is either the sign or the exterior of the building. The colors of Buffalo Wild Wings are yellow and
black which creates a pop effect due to the contrasting colors of the bright yellow and the dark black.
This contrast serves to make

Recruiting Orienting a New Generation
The millennial s are coming. This can be a very shocking and disturbing thing to many employers and
managers. There is a new generation entering the workforce that many see as difficult, lazy, and
foreign. While the years vary, millennial s generally are represented by people in the United States
born in between 1980 2000 (Kuhl, 2014). This is a new generation of employees who think very
differently than past generations and have a very different perception of the employee employer
relationship. Many companies are struggling with recruiting this generation into their workforce and
even more companies are plagued by extremely high attritions rates within this demographic. In this

If the company is bragging about its casual atmosphere, a very formal interview process may
contradict that perception (Lukens, 2014). Likewise understanding that my generation does not plan
on working more than is required so being clear about work expectations and being honest about work
life balance are important. My generation will check all of these facts against employee reviews and
will generally be able to find discrepancies quickly (Kuhl, 2014). Here items such as the ability to
telecommute or work flex hours will come off as very attractive to my generation. The second focus
point within recruiting is understanding that my generation communicates very differently. Because
my generation embraces technology so much communication is expected to be short and immediate.
Likewise my generation expects to be able to utilize technology for the application. This means
companies that utilize online tools such as LinkedIn and email will have an advantage with my
generation. Likewise my generation will not understand why it may takes weeks or months to
complete a formal hiring process (Kuhl, 2014). Companies with expatiate hiring process will be seen
as much more attractive. Lastly, power in my generation is not linked to status or money, it is linked to
knowledge. This is an extremely important thing to understand about millennial s. Millennial s really
do not value money the same way previous generations did but they do value the ability to do

The Importance Of Education In Public Schools
What would happen to society if everyone was the same? Thats easy, we would cease to be human
beings and become mindless robots. There would be no more art, music or literature because everyone
thinks and acts the same way. We can t allow ourselves to become mindless husks we need to strive
for more creative thinking to better expand our horizons for generations to come. Taking away the
ability to be creative and to think differently is a heinous crime with one prime suspect, schools. Right
now schools have failed in providing children the room and support they need to bloom from students
to an individual. Public schools were created during the age industrial revolution a time. Schools were
modeled after the same work systems of these factories. Putting students in straight lines give them the
same work and one correct way to accomplish the work. do it any other way you are branded as a
failure and that there is something wrong with you.Its scary to say but these are still the standards set
in most schools today. While I agree there is something wrong with all of us. I highly disagree with
the disgusting assumption of one way thinking being forced on students. These arguments made that
only one way of doing things right is an effective way of preparing students has no solid evidence of
working and the men and women enforcing these unjust regulations on youth should be ashamed of
their crimes of censorship and subjugation. There are plenty of examples that prove

How Did John F. Kennedy Act Through the Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban missile crisis of 1962 brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. What was at stake in
the crisis, and how do you assess President Kennedy s response to Khrushchev s provocation? Was

The Cuban Missile Crisis was perhaps the closest that humankind had ever become to experiencing a
thermonuclear war. In October 1962, the world watched perilously, as U.S. president John F. Kennedy
warned his people of the amalgamation of Soviet arms in Cuba. John F. Kennedy refused to accept
offensive Soviet artillery in such close proximity to the U.S., but Soviet chairman Nikita Khrushchev

The reasons why McNamara and Kennedy and other U.S. politicians were so fearful of a nuclear was
because according to U.S. analysts at the time, the 24 MRBM s (Medium range ballistic missiles) and
sixteen IRBM s (intermediate range ballistic missiles) that were found in Cuba had significantly
increased the number of U.S. targets that the Soviet s could lethally attack by forty percent.[8]
Furthermore, having missiles within Cuba allowed the Soviets to bypass the U.S. warning radars,
especially the Ballistics Missile Early Warning system, which was stationed in the North Pole.[9] By
bypassing the U.S. warning radars, it certainly amplified the risk of a surprise strike upon certain
American air bases and important command posts.[10] To address this risk, the U.S. army went from
Defence Condition Five (peacetime alert) to Defcon 3 (war alert) which further illustrated the high
levels of precautions the U.S. government were taking in order to protect itself from an offensive
attack from the Soviet.[11] It was quite clear from these precautions that the impending nuclear threat
in Cuba threatened the lives of American civilians, troops, and government officials. In the event that
the situation escalated out of control, the two world superpowers could have engaged in a third World
War that, with nuclear technology had the potential to kill hundreds of millions of civilians and
soldiers.[12] Fortunately, the Cuban Mission Crisis never escalated this

Suffrage Dbq Analysis
During the era of Andrew Jackson s presidency, the nation seemed to be split down the middle in
terms of its citizens. Obviously this is not meant to be taken literally, as the citizens of the United
States were divided in terms of political views, morals, and other very important topics. One of these
topics happened to be the act of expanding suffrage to people other than rich landowners. Both
arguments in this debate were represented with a number of different types of evidence as to why each
side was the correct way to go about shaping the way people voted in the United States and why the
opposing opinion was not to be trusted. There were both pros and cons of expanding suffrage in the
United States, but some were more valid than others. There were numerous reasons as to why

Nobleman, criticized the U.S. government by saying that the wrong people were in office because of
democracy (Document 3). This also concerns Jackson s idea of a spoil system, because his idea of
giving back to his followers and the common men of America sometimes led to unqualified
government officials. Subsequently, an Englishwoman named Frances Trollope lived in the United
States for several years during the 1820s; she observed that the American political leaders were chosen
by people who were not educated nor qualified, and she strongly disagreed that they should be doing
so (Document 4). Obviously, both sides brought up substantial points in this debate, but one side

  • 2. Extenuating Circumstances Some extenuating circumstances, including relevant dates, which prevented me from meeting credits under pace and/or the required cumulative GPA is because of three reasons. One of the three reason dropping out of my two classes and adding two new classes to my schedule so when I dropped two of my classes and added two different classes, I had a little struggled. Second, was when my grandma was rushed to the hospital and lastly, when my parents left to Thailand for an family emergency, both of these emergency made me put myself last because I had to take care of my family members. I really wasn t prepared for any of these events. Some of these events made it impossible to concentrate on any school work or get any of my school work done. First, I dropped two of my classes, which was Speech and English 099, and added two sociology classes to my schedule. I thought that Speech and English 099 wasn t beneficial for me, as I am still undecided of what my major is. I wanted to take class that could possibly spark an interest in my eyes and guide me to what it is that I want to be when I grow up. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So I was left to take care of my four younger siblings, drop and pick up my siblings up from school or any activities that they were in, pay bills, cook food, basically do whatever it was that my mom did when she was home taking care of us. I had to put my needs behind and help my little siblings like I did with my grandma. It was the wrong month for my parents to go because that was month was finals! The only time I got to study for finals was when I was at work, and when everyone was asleep, other than that, I could not fit time to study for any of my finals. But I can say that when I work, I somehow manage my time more wisely by doing all of my work in a good pace because that was my only free ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rapid transmission of information over long distances and ready access to information have become conspicuous and important features of human society, especially in the past 150 years. The encyclopedia definition of communication encompasses the ideas of exchanging a variety of messages with others. This is important to remember when looking at communications within an organization. The whole process of communications within organizations is very complex and is certainly one of the major factors in determining whether an organization will succeed or not. The point is to utilize the best transmission method in order to minimize the decoding difficulty for the receiver. Non verbal cues are those expressions of emotions and attitudes toward another person and in regulating the interaction between people. The text organizes the cues into seven categories and includes good examples, including: environment, proximity, posture, gestures, facial expressions, eye behavior and vocalics. One area missing within communications chapter was what the person is wearing, but was included in chapter 6, perception and performance evaluations. Many books advocate dressing for success. Some examples include shopping, salesperson and the office. If you are going to shop at flea markets, dressing down is a good way to start the bargaining process. A car salesperson should dress to show that he is successful, but not ostentatious. In my profession, I dress towards the client based on whether suit and tie or casual are the choice for the client s organization. This non verbal cue can aid in preparing the initial psychological base for the remainder of the conversation and ensure that it does not detract from the conversation while it is ongoing. • 4. Usfk General Order To The Rangers Case Analysis (4) It is clear the information regarding the application of the USFK General Order to the Rangers was disseminated to the company. It is also apparent that CPT Jorgensen had at least some knowledge of this fact. At some point there was serious consideration by CPT Ferriter to call MG Deedrick to ask for an exception to policy for his men to cover the weekend, particularly because there was an MWR ski trip planned for Friday 11 MAR 16. CPT Ferriter eventually decided it was not prudent to make that request and never asked MG Deedrick for the exception. • 5. Why Do We Need International Criminal Court Do we need an international criminal court ? The International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the Rome Statute, is the first interminable, treaty based, international criminal court established to help end exemptions for the perpetrators of the most serious and heinous crimes of concern to the international community. The ICC was mandated in July of 1998 but was bought into force by July of 2002.1 The Rome Statute is a mutual treaty which serves as the ICC s foundational and leading document. States which become party to the Rome Statute, for example by passing it, become member states of the ICC. Currently, there are 122 states which are party to the Rome Statute and as a result are members of the ICC.2 The creation of the International Criminal Court is a global response to the extreme mayhem perpetrated in the last century. Unfortunately, in all too many cases, terrible crimes went unpunished and a alleged culture of impunity protected the perpetrators. National courts often did not investigate the crimes adequately, or at all. The International criminal court was established at the Paris Peace Conference Following the First World War, because some of the most heinous crimes were committed during the conflicts which marked the twentieth century.3 Unfortunately, many of these violations of international law have remained unpunished and the role of the International criminal court was to bring past and future dreadful crimes to trial and to be punished, and ... • 10. Analysis Of The Movie Silver Linings Playbook A life interchanging from high to low, happy to sad, to the brink of exploding with euphoria to the lowest low, is the life of a human living with Bipolar disorder. This roller coaster of emotions is inevitable and almost unlikely to cure in terms of later onset. These disorders are more common than we know and the way they are treated will determine the individual s psychological outcome. The movie Silver Linings Playbook does a great job depicting a character with Bipolar disorder and the struggles the main character Pat faces on a day to day basis through his road to recovery. Silver Linings Playbook displays many types of psychological disorders that include Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar disorder, and a slight sexual disorder. Bradley Cooper does an exceptional job playing the role of Pat Solitano, a bipolar patient who has just been released from a psychiatric ward after almost killing another man for sleeping with his wife. He plans to relive his past and thinks that nothing has changed since he has been gone, a common occurrence of a subject with bipolar disorder. Pros And Cons Of Virtue Ethics Martin Zemlock Ethics in Public Private Life Essay Dr. Dan Johnson 11/15/2017 Flaws of Aristotelian Virtue Ethics When most think of philosophy a list of people come to mind. You have your greats such as Plato, Nietzsche, and of course Aristotle. However, this does not mean that their ideas cannot be challenged and questioned, as no one is above criticism. Aristotelian Virtue Ethics have a major flaw that strikes at the heart of the idea. There is a severe lack of guidance both in what a virtue is, and what happens when they conflict. The mains question is, is one virtue more important than another? What is Aristotle s virtue ethics theory exactly? Aristotle was one of the first to describe this type of theory and he based it largely on Eudaimonism. Eudaimonism bases virtues in human flourishing, where flourishing is equated with performing one s distinctive function well (Virtue Ethics). For humans, Aristotle believed that our main function is reasoning and to live well we would need to reason well. The largest part of virtue ethics is the titular virtues that decide whether or not a person was truly flourishing or not. To first create an argument over the conflict of virtues one must first understand what makes a virtue a virtue. In Aristotelian Virtue Ethics, a virtue is described as something a virtuous person does. In turn, a virtuous person is someone who does virtuous acts. This is where a big issue arises in this theory. There are hardly any ground laws ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tempest Research Paper Harmonious Dissonance In The Tempest, William Shakespeare uses the Prospero and Caliban s servant/master relationship and the motif of magic and power to portray that destruction and confliction will result when there is an external or internal imbalance between the disordered Dionysian intoxication and the disciplined Apollonian order. Caliban, who resentfully serves Prospero, represents the impulsive Dionysian servant whom the Apollonian master counteracts. Caliban is out of control, even stating that he wishes to have violated the honor of Miranda due to his hate of Prospero. Prospero represents the intellectual Apollonian figure, who keeps impetuous threats like Caliban in check. However, Prospero was once ironically a figure of his own Dionysian factor, creating an internal imbalance between the opposing factors. Prospero expresses that he was once intoxicated by his Apollonian studies, as his state was growing stranger in his increasing submersion to his world of books. The Handmaid s Tale is a speculative fiction first published in 1985 but set in the early 2000s. The novel was in response to changes in US politics with the emergence of Christian fundamentalism, the New Right. Atwood believed that society was going wrong and wrote this savage satire, similar to Jonathan Swift s A Modest Proposal , depicting a dystopia which she uses as a mirror to hold up to society. The line between fantasizing about the past and the harsh reality of her new life breaks down. She smiles blankly at the other Handmaids and asks them how they are doing. Janine s mental state was frail to begin with and her automatic reaction to scenes of brutality or stress set off her memories of her previous life. Janine s breakdown shows how memories affect us. Janine cannot handle the deprivation she is now faced with compared to the freedoms of her past. There is a strong link between memories and hope. Raffaela Baccolini discusses this link in her article The Persistence of Hope in Dystopian Science Fiction. She says that Utopia is maintained in dystopia, traditionally a bleak, depressing genre with no space for hope in the story, only outside the story. Offred does not have much, if anything, to stimulate herself with mentally. She is in a bare room with shatterproof glass that has been made safe to prevent her from committing suicide. The Role Of The Bird In Madame Ratignolle This goes to show to the reader how men in the 19th century treated their wives as possessions, they had a firm hold on their wives which was supported by society. • 29. Analysis Of Aphra Behn s Oroonoko Aphra Behn, since the start of story Oroonoko takes on an apologetic tone in her narration of the story. She starts of by apologizing (examples) as to the form of her writing and why she writes some parts of the story while omitting others. It is not fully understood whether when Behn refers to being a female pen she does so in a sarcastic way or with a deeper meaning, giving a double sense to her story. That although she writes about a male character, she decides to write and exalt those parts of his life that were influenced by a woman, making them as something as a very meaningful part of his story that influenced his actions, exalting the role of a woman in this great man s life. First of all speaking of the characterization of women in her story, we see that women are treated merely as objects and do not have the power to make decisions for themselves, they are mostly always under the strict rule of a man. Starting off with the character of Imoinda, we see that she only has a considerable power because of her beauty. It is because of her beauty and her shy manner that Oroonoko finds her so attractive, and therefore decides to marry her and have her as his only wife for the rest of his life. After getting married, Imoinda is called by the King of Kalimenes to join his multitude of wives. The only reason that Imoinda can proclaim to let her be slightly safe from the king is to tell him that she is married; meaning that only by being under the protection of marriage to ... • 30. Designing A Building Or Interior Design For Lure Customers Many restaurants and shops use the look of their building or interior design to lure customers in. Some businesses try to appeal to everyone by using common things that everyone likes, while some businesses try to aim at a certain group of individuals that are into a specific type of theme. In general, we can all agree that a boring place isn t very appealing to go into to eat or shop so business owners try to appeal to their customers so that they can attract more business. One tactic for bringing in more customers can be seen through the use of color among the business s interior or exterior. Use of wall space also has an important role in catching people s eye; what is on the walls and how they are used is a common way to lure in people. Another common and great tactic includes the use of music or media like T.V, what the T.V is showing or the music being played can help bring more people into a place. Buffalo Wild Wings use all three of these strategies to attract its customers, mainly targeting those who have a love of sports. The way a store or restaurant looks and is set up can often affect people s opinion of the business and can even determine who shops or eats at the location. When looking for restaurants the first thing one sees is either the sign or the exterior of the building. The colors of Buffalo Wild Wings are yellow and black which creates a pop effect due to the contrasting colors of the bright yellow and the dark black. This contrast serves to make ... • 31. Recruiting Orienting a New Generation The millennial s are coming. This can be a very shocking and disturbing thing to many employers and managers. There is a new generation entering the workforce that many see as difficult, lazy, and foreign. While the years vary, millennial s generally are represented by people in the United States born in between 1980 2000 (Kuhl, 2014). This is a new generation of employees who think very differently than past generations and have a very different perception of the employee employer relationship. Many companies are struggling with recruiting this generation into their workforce and even more companies are plagued by extremely high attritions rates within this demographic. In this essay the ideas of changes to recruiting and on boarding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the company is bragging about its casual atmosphere, a very formal interview process may contradict that perception (Lukens, 2014). Likewise understanding that my generation does not plan on working more than is required so being clear about work expectations and being honest about work life balance are important. My generation will check all of these facts against employee reviews and will generally be able to find discrepancies quickly (Kuhl, 2014). Here items such as the ability to telecommute or work flex hours will come off as very attractive to my generation. The second focus point within recruiting is understanding that my generation communicates very differently. Because my generation embraces technology so much communication is expected to be short and immediate. Likewise my generation expects to be able to utilize technology for the application. This means companies that utilize online tools such as LinkedIn and email will have an advantage with my generation. Likewise my generation will not understand why it may takes weeks or months to complete a formal hiring process (Kuhl, 2014). Companies with expatiate hiring process will be seen as much more attractive. Lastly, power in my generation is not linked to status or money, it is linked to knowledge. This is an extremely important thing to understand about millennial s. Millennial s really do not value money the same way previous generations did but they do value the ability to do something ... • 32. The Importance Of Education In Public Schools What would happen to society if everyone was the same? Thats easy, we would cease to be human beings and become mindless robots. There would be no more art, music or literature because everyone thinks and acts the same way. We can t allow ourselves to become mindless husks we need to strive for more creative thinking to better expand our horizons for generations to come. Taking away the ability to be creative and to think differently is a heinous crime with one prime suspect, schools. Right now schools have failed in providing children the room and support they need to bloom from students to an individual. Public schools were created during the age industrial revolution a time. Schools were modeled after the same work systems of these factories. Putting students in straight lines give them the same work and one correct way to accomplish the work. do it any other way you are branded as a failure and that there is something wrong with you.Its scary to say but these are still the standards set in most schools today. While I agree there is something wrong with all of us. I highly disagree with the disgusting assumption of one way thinking being forced on students. These arguments made that only one way of doing things right is an effective way of preparing students has no solid evidence of working and the men and women enforcing these unjust regulations on youth should be ashamed of their crimes of censorship and subjugation. • 33. How Did John F. Kennedy Act Through the Cuban Missile Crisis The Cuban missile crisis of 1962 brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. What was at stake in the crisis, and how do you assess President Kennedy s response to Khrushchev s provocation? Was Kennedy prudent or rash, suitably tough or needlessly belligerent? By Jeremy Leung 299722 USA The World 131 236 The Cuban Missile Crisis was perhaps the closest that humankind had ever become to experiencing a thermonuclear war. In October 1962, the world watched perilously, as U.S. president John F. Kennedy warned his people of the amalgamation of Soviet arms in Cuba. John F. Kennedy refused to accept offensive Soviet artillery in such close proximity to the U.S., but Soviet chairman Nikita Khrushchev had already planned a stealthily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reasons why McNamara and Kennedy and other U.S. politicians were so fearful of a nuclear was because according to U.S. analysts at the time, the 24 MRBM s (Medium range ballistic missiles) and sixteen IRBM s (intermediate range ballistic missiles) that were found in Cuba had significantly increased the number of U.S. targets that the Soviet s could lethally attack by forty percent.[8] Furthermore, having missiles within Cuba allowed the Soviets to bypass the U.S. warning radars, especially the Ballistics Missile Early Warning system, which was stationed in the North Pole.[9] By bypassing the U.S. warning radars, it certainly amplified the risk of a surprise strike upon certain American air bases and important command posts.[10] To address this risk, the U.S. army went from Defence Condition Five (peacetime alert) to Defcon 3 (war alert) which further illustrated the high levels of precautions the U.S. government were taking in order to protect itself from an offensive attack from the Soviet.[11] It was quite clear from these precautions that the impending nuclear threat in Cuba threatened the lives of American civilians, troops, and government officials. In the event that the situation escalated out of control, the two world superpowers could have engaged in a third World War that, with nuclear technology had the potential to kill hundreds of millions of civilians and soldiers.[12] Fortunately, the Cuban Mission Crisis never escalated this ... • 34. Suffrage Dbq Analysis During the era of Andrew Jackson s presidency, the nation seemed to be split down the middle in terms of its citizens. Obviously this is not meant to be taken literally, as the citizens of the United States were divided in terms of political views, morals, and other very important topics. One of these topics happened to be the act of expanding suffrage to people other than rich landowners. Both arguments in this debate were represented with a number of different types of evidence as to why each side was the correct way to go about shaping the way people voted in the United States and why the opposing opinion was not to be trusted. There were both pros and cons of expanding suffrage in the United States, but some were more valid than others. There were numerous reasons as to why expanding the right to vote to the non wealthy American people was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, James Kent, former Chief Justice of New York State s highest court, stated that the poor lower class of America would ruin society if given the chance, which is why he believed that they should have been given as little rights as possible (Document 2). Also, Alexis de Tocqueville, a French Nobleman, criticized the U.S. government by saying that the wrong people were in office because of democracy (Document 3). This also concerns Jackson s idea of a spoil system, because his idea of giving back to his followers and the common men of America sometimes led to unqualified government officials. Subsequently, an Englishwoman named Frances Trollope lived in the United States for several years during the 1820s; she observed that the American political leaders were chosen by people who were not educated nor qualified, and she strongly disagreed that they should be doing so (Document 4). Obviously, both sides brought up substantial points in this debate, but one side eventually had to triumph over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
