How The Movie Shattered Glass Changed My Perspective On...
The movie Shattered Glass changed my my perspective on journalism because it showed me how hard
it is to get something published and fact checked, but incorrect information can still slip through and
get published. I learned about the institution and and the relationship about the people who sustain
them which is they have to have a good trusting relationship or the whole business will crash. I also
learned a lesson about how lying can get you fired and lose public trust which will be very hard trying
to get another journalist job if no one trusts you. In the movie Shattered Glass Stephen Glass was a
journalist, but all of his stories were fabricated and fake making this story fascinating because of all
the trials his stories had to go through to even get published and yet it still got in the magazine he was
working for. The publishing system from what I understand, is very strategic you have to go through
mansy stages to even get published, but Stephen still got through all of the fact checkers and still

In the movie when Stephen would get a phone call he would play it off saying oh it s nothing and the
people would believe him because he had a good relationship that no one would suspect him or
question him, but if he was questioned he would say Are you mad at me? which would make him
seem innocent to his employers. Towards the end of the movie when his article Hack Heaven was
discovered as fake he had a break down saying he was stressed and didn t mean to lie about the piece
he was working on. This has showed his downfall of trust with his company which led to him getting
a 2 year suspension, but when his other articles were found out to be fake to he was fired. This has
shown me that it is good to have a relationship with your employees, but you have to recognize when
they are lying and hurting the

Climate Change and Public Policy Essay examples
It is becoming increasingly certain that climate change will have severe adverse effects on the
environment in years to come. Addressing this issue poses a serious challenge for policy makers. How
we choose to respond to the threat of global warming is not simply a political issue. It is also an
economic issue and an ethical one. Responsible, effective climate change policy requires consideration
of a number of complex factors, including weighing the costs of implementing climate change policies
against the benefits of more environmentally sustainable practices. Furthermore, this analysis must
take place amidst serious gaps in the existing research and technology concerning the developing
climatic condition. For these reasons, global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even for those who are less motivated by such moralistic calls to action, the fact remains
that conservation is as much an economic issue as an ethical one. While economic considerations are a
problematic feature of climate change policy, under the proper analysis, they also serve as an
important motivator. Economic analysis that weighs all costs and benefits of a particular model must
include environmental considerations. That is to say, the potential for short term economic losses
caused by conservation in the present, should be measured against the dividends that conservation will
pay in the future (Nordhaus, 2007). If the earth is truly our most valuable commodity, then analysis
under these conditions should recognize that if a dollar value were placed on environmental
sustainability, more often than not it would outweigh any initial monetary loss resultant of the
implementation of more sustainable practices. Indeed, if we accept the danger of global warming to be
a real and present one, then the question of how to address it must be given serious consideration.
Research conducted from as early as the 1950s through the present has afforded us a solid
understanding of its causes. In the most basic sense, the problem lies in the burning of carbon based
fossil fuels such as carbon and oil which leads to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). Gases such as
CO2 are referred to as greenhouse gases (GHGs) which accumulate in the atmosphere. GHGs can

The Outsider, by Albert Camus and The Assault, by Harry...
Camus and Mulisch present that the past and present are interrelated. The authors do this through the
two characters, Meursault and Anton. Through Meursault, we see that his past actions affect the
outcome of his trial. Through Anton, we see that his present situation constantly brings him back to his
past despite him trying to escape it. Thus the authors stylistically link the past and present to
demonstrate that they are inevitably related, where certain events are unavoidable or the past is
undeniable.
In The Outsider , the society continually brings back Meursault s past actions against his will, such as
his behaviour at his mother s funeral. Under the rule of the French Colonialists, the French Algerian
court is a microcosm of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite this, the society tries to fabricate or impose rational explanations of Meursault s irrational
action. This is evident during the trial process when the prosecutor rationally explains for Meursault
the series of event that happened, although Meursault himself does not have a solid explanation for his
actions. The prosecutor explains it so well, that even Meursault himself finds it quite plausible .
Anton s past is brought back to him in a different way than Meursault. When Anton meets Cor Takes
he starts repainting the picture of the tragic night. It was fate that brought Takes to Anton, allowing
him to overhear Takes. This brought Anton s past back to the present by discovering the motives of
Takes and was the first time that he had cried over what had happened. Before this, he was able to put
the past behind him but was never able to escape it. When it was brought back to him, Takes words
reaches into his heart, and was why he cried. Mulisch shows aspects of the past will always catch up
with the present and it is inescapable. Eventually, Anton comes to realize that he can never fully
escape the past and has to accept the whole truth in order to find closure and experience true forgetting
. Anton thought, ... of how everything comes to light sooner or later. In time, he would have had to

Pros And Cons Of Physician-Assisted Suicide
Physician Assisted Suicide
Physician Assisted Suicide is when a doctor/ physician gives the patient a prescription and the
knowledge of how to take said prescription that would end the patient s life. Most people who ask for
the prescription never use it, they just use it for comfort. (Dick 194. There are really only two main
arguments for this topic. Those two arguments are: It s my life i can do what i want and It s against my
morals, or it undermines the hippocratic principles of medicine. Physician assisted suicide should be
legal everywhere, and everyone should be able to have the option to use it. People say that PAS is
against the sanctity of life. They say that it is going out against their morals and it contradicts their
beliefs. Some also say that it is like a passive VS. active distinction. Saying that there is a difference
between passively letting someone die and actively killing them. Other people say that it could be
abuse as well. There is also a gap in the guidelines of what you have to do and have to be able to get
the prescription. They say you have to be at least 18, and you have to be able to give verbal requests,
and you also have to be able to give yourself the drug. What about kids that have a terminal illness and
there is no cure and they have to suffer every single day, they are in so much pain everyday even with
all the pain medicines that the doctors can give them. They do not have a way out since they are not

Compare and Contrast Ottoman and Mughal Empires Essay
The Ottoman and Mughal empires were two of the greatest and most successful empires to ever form
in history. However, they both had some similarities as well as differences. Both empires went through
tough periods of time, but at some point they also went through times of growth and prosperity.
Although the Ottoman and Mughal Empire both did not force conversions into Islam, the Ottoman s
development relied on their tough military force, while the decline of the Mughal Empire was caused
by Aurangzeb s policy of religious persecution and high taxes. Because of the Ottoman and Mughal
Empire being tolerant of other beliefs, people of all religions living in the empire lived in peace. The

Babur expanded his kingdom by attacking Afghanistan and conquering Kabul after 21 years of being
in power. From that point, he crossed over the mountains into Hindustan and attacked the Dehli
Sultanate, again defeating them and gaining their land. When he died in 1530 he had conquered all of
Hindustan and controlled an empire that stretched out from the Deccan to Turkestan. These different
strategies of conquering land helped the 2 empires rule throughout Asia and, in the Ottoman s case,
some parts of Europe also. Although the Ottoman and Mughal empires had two different reasons for
decline, both were because of the leaders currently in power at the time. Even though Suleyman, the
ruler of the Ottomans, accomplished social and cultural achievements, the empire was losing ground.
Suleyman made a mistake by killing two of his sons. His third son, the incompetent Selim II, inherited
the throne. Suleyman set the pattern for the future sultans to gain and hold power. It became
customary for each new sultan to kill his brother. This practice produced a long line of weak sultans
who eventually brought ruin on the empire. Since India was mainly a land of the Hindus, The stability
of the Emperor, in this case Aurangzeb, depended on the support of the people. Without their loyalty
and cooperation, stability was impossible. When Aurangzeb came into power, he departed from the
tradition of religious tolerance and persecuted the other

Essay about Analysis of the Poems of Robert Frost
The Road Not Taken and Nothing Gold Can Stay are just two of many very famous poems, written by
none other than Robert Frost. Robert Frost is a poet that is well known for his poetic contributions to
nature, as well as his award winning poems. His poetic ability and knowledge make him an
extraordinary author. His past; including schooling, family, and the era in which he wrote influenced
nearly all of his poems in some way. This very famous poet contributed to the modernism era, had a
family and an interesting life story, and a unique poetic style as well. The literary era in which Robert
Frost wrote was the modernism era. This era was a time when poets, and artists in general, were
starting to rebel against the normal way to write ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the era before this, regionalism, this poem does not focus on a restricted area or culture. It is
simply giving a description of a bird, which also could be looked at metaphorically, but nothing more.
The modernism era did not particularly focus on a main subject. It mostly just focused on the interior
dialogue and its unique characteristics.
Robert Lee Frost, born in 1874, grew up in California. He was an extraordinary student, and ended his
high school career as one of the valedictorians. He was very intelligent, and even went on to
Dartmouth College, though he did not graduate. He was married to his former high school classmate
Elinor White in 1895. Together they gave birth to six children. Later in life he attended Harvard
College. Robert Frost was known for his love of nature, and portrays it in many of his poems. For part
of his life he worked as a farmer, which could have contributed to his love for nature. Though Frost
clearly states, I am not a nature poet. There is almost always a person in my poems (frostfriends.org).
Frost obviously does not want people to think that he writes strictly about nature. He wants others to
see the meaning behind his poetry, as well as the human psychology hidden underneath his poems.
Frost did love nature though, not to be mistaken. He did use nature a lot throughout his poetry, he just
did not want people to skim the surface of his poems and think they were about nature when they

Eskimo Curlew Essay
The Eskimo curlew (Numenius borealis) is a medium sized shorebird with long legs and a long thin,
bill that curves downwards. The curlew s colors are usually mottled brown, on the upper parts, while
the breast and abdomen are a buff color. Some would describe its color as more of a cinnamon . This
pigeon sized bird belongs to the Class: Aves, Order: Charadriliformes, Family: Scolopacidae, and
Genus: Numenius. According to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Eskimo curlew is related
to other shore birds such as Snipes, sandpipers, and phalaropes. According to the wildlife and fisheries
of the Louisiana government, the curlew s status is as a critically endangered species and now
virtually extinct. It was listed in the United States on March 11, 1967. This means that any taking or
harassment of this species is a violation of state and federal laws. Due to this, it is very rare that there

Walt Whitman Influence
There is no question that Walt Whitman had the most significant influence on American literary
history. Along with Emily Dickinson, Whitman represented the Romantic literature era of American
literature. Whitman is known for his distinctive poetic forms and free verse. Whitman s most popular
work Leaves of Grass influenced many future writers that came after him to follow his writing style.
The richness that Leaves of Grass left behind had such a huge impact on American writers of many
different backgrounds and cultures. Whitman s influence can be seen in the works of Ezra Pound,
Langston Hughes, and Sharon Olds.
The influence Walt Whitman had on Ezra Pound is found through Pound s modernist poetic
experiments. At the beginning of Pound s career, he wrote of Whitman, I honor him for he prophesied
me while I can only recognize him as a forebear of whom I ought to be proud (Willard 573). The
following work from Pound was a pact he made with Whitman:
It was you that broke the new wood,
Now is a time for carving.
We have one sap and one root
Let there be commerce between us (quoted in Willard 573).
Pound went on to keep that pact with his many works that include The Cantos, The Condolence, and
To Whistler, American. Like in the 1855 version of Leaves of Grass, Whitman gave a descriptive
image of him in a working dress and large hat, arms akimbo, standing at his ease, this is also matched
by the descriptive image in Pound s Pavannes and Divisions (Willard 573). Whitman

Good Bad morality with Good Evil morality they are the same as it is just peoples view on them that
has led them to think that they are different from each other. In the first essay by Nietzsche in The
Genealogy of Morals, he explains both how the words good and bad become defined and how they

In the second place, however: quite apart from the historical untenability of this hypothesis regarding
the origin of the value judgement good it suffers from an inherent psychological absurdity. The utility
of the unegotistic action is supposed to be the source of the approval accorded it, and this source is
supposed to have been forgotten. The quote comes to show that the word good itself has different
meanings according to one s psychological judgement as it is defined by the persons ego. The rich
have decided what is determined good and bad, therefore their opinion is contradictory as they will
present the poor people as being liars and bad in comparison to themselves as good and pure. In the
other hand the Jewish culture s formula of who was perceived good and bad was also changed as
opposed to the rich being the good, the poor who are alone were the good and the ones with god. This
shows that ideology of what is perceived to be good and band changes as those in power have a
difference of opinion on these moralities. Therefore, both these moralities are not contrasting but
rather the one and the same. Furthermore, When the power shifted to the priests good became pure
and impure became evil. This shows that good, evil and bad all these words had their definitions

Beta Rho Microaggressions Summary
Shifting the conversation of Latin Heritage Month toward microaggressions Latinos faces in their
everyday lives, the Beta Rho Chapter of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. pushed students to become
more conscious of their statements and how it could impact others around them.
Establishing its chapter at Ramapo College in 2010, Beta Rho brings together people of diverse
backgrounds through a network of sisterhood, leadership and guidance. At its second annual Que
Dijo? Event, alumni of Ramapo College addressed the multitude of microaggressions in daily
dialogues that continue to foster stereotypes.
Microaggressions are little phrases that sugarcoat or enhance stereotypes, said Thalia Mercado, senior
mathematics major.
For Mercado, the most common microaggression she encounters is that she cannot speak Spanish even
though she identifies as Latina. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Microaggressions make people feel like they don t meet certain requirements, said Mercado. Who
know what these requirements are to be a great person? You re less of a person because you don t

Assumptions made by society can stir anger among individuals who defy widely accepted stereotypes
such as the notion that all Mexicans illegally crossed the border into the United States.
With my identity as a Mexican, it s always like Oh, you cross the border? Not really though, because I
m actually American and my parents are Mexican, said Alina Sanchez, alumna of Ramapo College
Class of 2016. Every now and then, it could be a joke but it could also build up and go to the point
where it bottles up inside.
Microaggressions are deeply rooted in society, reinforced by dialogue heard on television shows that
subtly joke about real life situations. Modern day Latinos, however, are defying these stereotypes by
earning a college degree and obtaining high level positions in all

The Negative Impacts Of Social Media, Technology And Privacy

While others may say that those who are deeply rooted in their religion have the right to express their
beliefs just as members of the LGBTQ community have the right to express their sexuality, it is
unconstitutional and frankly frowned upon in most religions to treat others with anything less than the
respect that they deserve solely because their choices may not align with a certain religion s beliefs.
As Christians, as with any other religion, you have the freedom to express yourself without
persecution but, as we all know, one of the greatest and most important commandments in
Christianity, as stated in Mark 12:31, is Love your neighbor as you love yourself (The Holy Bible).
Though the bill of rights states that any person born in America has the freedom of religion and the
freedom to practice whatever actions that belief may entitle, our constitution also states that we have
the freedom of expression. By passing bills such as HB1523, we are further proving that
discrimination is a prevalent problem in America s society. America is known to be the land of the
free. While some may say that this only means that American citizens are not kept in bondage and are
allowed to make their own decisions, it also means that we were born with the freedom to be who we
are. How can anyone live the American dream if they are constantly being frowned upon and judged
by others?

We did land on the moon There are many people who believed that we did land on the moon, but then

According to Josh Fox, one of several authors from Listverse, The moon landing hoax is the total lack
of stars in any of the photographic/video evidence. There are no clouds on the moon, so stars are
perpetually visible and significantly brighter than what we see through the filter of Earth s atmosphere
(Moon landings could be a hoax). According to Erin Ruberry, Washington, D.C. based writer and

stars are so dim that the camera cannot gather enough of their light in a short exposure. Our eyes are a

the bright reflecting surface of the moon, they were always brightly lit (We went to the moon). The

The Pros And Cons Of Zygomatic Dental Implants
Dr. Irfan Atcha is offering an innovative procedure one that does not involve bone transplants to end
the struggles of chronic denture patients. The procedure, which utilizes Zygomatic dental implants,
will provide new teeth to patients who could not wear implant supported teeth on their upper jaw due
to the lack of supportive bone. According to Dr. Atcha, these new alternatives allow him to fabricate
either a removable or fixed implant supported set of teeth.
Treating the completely edentulous upper jaw with fixed implant supported teeth has always been
difficult, especially if it is suffering from moderate to severe bone loss. One procedure that has long
been available is the use of bone transplant or bone grafting, usually from the patient s skull, hip, jaw

patient s prior dentition.
Aside from the shorter duration of the treatment, the Zygomatic implant technique also has a success
rate of 97% after five years, according to scientific studies. Dr. Atcha recommends this procedure to
patients, especially those who are dissatisfied with their upper removable denture, since this will give
them the opportunity to experience the biomechanics of their natural teeth again. Additionally, it will

The Adoration Of Jenna Fox Research Paper
Imagine a world where parental expectations did not exist for children entirely. Should they really be
in place? While some people may argue that parental expectations may be too much pressure for
offspring, they usually keep children s behavior rational, have an impact on their children and their
future, and goals are usually a source of motivation to do better. First, the reason parental expectation
is set in place, to begin with, is to regulate children and their actions. Second of all, having certain
achievements to meet has a significant impact on children and their future. Lastly, the need to meet
accomplishments set forth by the head(s) of the family serve as a way to improve on one s self for

To begin with, parental expectations keep children s behavior in check. In The Adoration of Jenna

aspiration in children, something that would not be there if it did not exist in the first place. If a world
did truly exist in which parental expectation was never really in place, the people in our society would
be different. They will be more relaxed and will not push themselves to their limit these people would
be ill mannered in society s view. Without parental expectations, society goes in a backward direction,

Essay On Hitler Youth
Hitler Youth Through the Hitler Youth, Hitler was successfully able to corrupt the minds of children
and spread propaganda across the country. Hitler Youth played an important role in the spread of
Nazisim across Germany. Hitler Youth also proved Germany with a common goal: The Aryan Race.
The Hitler Youth also added to the Nazi school system and made the kids more devoted. The Hitler
Youth had a big impact on the people of Germany and its future.

The people of Germany were forced to look up to Hitler and to strive for the Aryan Race. Hitler was
idolized and thought of as a hero or savior. They were brain washed into thinking they were the best of
the best and that all other races were not. They were taught what to do, what to think and to point out
behavior out of the Nazi idealism. The young men of Germany were made into Nazi soldiers and
leaders. Hitler realised that by controlling the youth of today he would completely control the future
Nazi people. (marked by teachers

Similarities Between Dawalski And Blanche Dubois
Character is how a person acts when no one else is looking. As a person is portrayed and perceived
they are better understood when unveiling the true personality of an individual rather than their false
persona. Both Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski s performance vary and differ depending on the
situation and the person of interaction. Blanches fluctuating performance and actions can be found
countless times in the book A Street Car Named Desire. To analyze this personality aspect, Blanche
can been seen doing this with her sister Stella Dubois. Williams reveals this in the lines Now don t get
worried, your sister hasn t turned into a drunkard, she s just all shaken up and hot and tired and dirty ,
and again in What you are talking about is brutal desire just desire . The primary evidence can reveal
her fraud performance upon encountering her sister once again. Blanche attempts to portray herself as
a traditional, accepted woman. She pretends to be a woman of no fault and who only drinks on rare
occasions. Yet when the story is further read she can be seen drinking day after day. Blanche can
actually be classified as a drunk seeking to escape from reality. Blanche strives to fulfill the
performance of a conventional day to day woman, in front of her sister Stella. The proceeding
evidence is a very hypocritical statement made by Blanche. Blanche refers to just desire as merely a
physical, sexual aspect between Stanley and Stella. Blanche again exerts her best

Phonological Awareness In Education
According to Stanovich (1986) and Kaminksi Powell Smith (2016), phonological awareness stands
out as the highest predictor of reading acquisition. Phonological Awareness (PA) is the process in
which students learn that words are made up of phonemes (sounds) and learn each individual phoneme
(Eissa, 2014). PA is the ability to recognize rhymes, counting syllables, and separating the beginning
sound from the ending sound (e.g. /c/ from /at/) (Yopp Yopp, 2000). More than twenty percent of
kindergarten and first grade students struggle with an aspect of PA; furthermore eight to ten percent
show significant delays (Trehearne, 2003). PA is causally related to the early development of reading
skill because students must be able to decode when

Iva Park Trail Short Story Report
It was always a joy for the trail crew to call in the mules and horses early in the morning from the
lush, Leprechaun green government pasture down in Red s Meadow on a sweet, warm summer s day.
The animals really loved it too, as they munched on mush from feed bags tied around their necks.
They would get so frisky and spunky from feeling their oats that they would deposit road apples in the
corral. This was soon stomped into the dirt and completely overwhelmed the fresh, fragrant smell of
flowers, meadow and forest.
After they were fed it was time to brush, saddle, pack and place each mule in its unique position in the
string. Each animal found its place in the string depending on its own temperament, skills and
personality.

It was a big land that humbled the little crew, as they ventured into the backcountry to repair the trails
that the American people so dearly love.
When they finally reached Iva Belle, they decided to set up camp in their favorite location, above the
meadow and in the Lodgepole Pine trees. Packers and trail crews always have a favorite spot that they
go to, and this was it. The men were tired from the long ride but knew they must take care of the
animals first. They threw up a hitch line between some trees and tethered each animal to it. They
unpacked, unsaddled and watered the stock one by one at a small creek nearby. Camp was set up
quickly in their special, organized way with a kitchen, latrine and tent pads. Firewood was gathered
and dinner ready to go within an hour. Everyone felt very satisfied after eating a fresh salad, steak,
corn on the cob and ice cold beer. Mule packing was definitely the life of luxury in the backcountry.
Most of the trail crew had heard stories about the notorious history of Iva Belle Hot Springs in the 60s,
when it was rumored that naked hippies wandered aimlessly, stoned on LSD, doing God only knows
what in the water bubbling up from the bowels of the earth.
At the mention of this, the boss said to the crew, Let s take the halters off the stock and let them graze
the meadow. After all the animals were unhitched,

Illusion Of Explanatory Depth
It is difficult to avoid but rather uncomplicated to fix. The illusion of explanatory depth arises
whenever one thinks they know something better than they actually do. In many labs types of research
will measure and correct by asking bystanders topics like, how well do you know how to tie your shoe
or even how does a phone charger simply charges your phone. This powerful concept was discovered
by Leinid Rozenblit and Frank Keil in 2002, they stated: Most people feel they understand the world
with far great detail, coherence, and depth than they really do. Various studies proved that self
knowledge drastically decreased when participants were put to the test to explain how the task in
question operates. The illusion of explanatory depth is often called IOED for short. Adam Waytz
stated in his article A survey was given in 2014 and discovered that at most, six out of ten Americans
only read news headlines and nothing more When one understands the illusion of explanatory depth it
will allow them to combat political extremism. Assistant professor Philip Fernbach and staff showed
that Illusion of explanatory depth clearly was the cause of other policy positions on multiple issues.
Due to all the studies focusing on IOED many suggested that it is powerful for cooling heated
disagreements politically. Behind this fascinating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Office Assistant Research Paper
I plan on pursing being certified in Office Assistant I really didn t know what I wanted to do. Office
Assistant wasn t really my dream but I kind of like typing and editing papers. I can see myself now in
an office answering the phone and saying one moment please he ll be right with you. I like working
with other people and being there for them. When you are working in an office you have to be
respectful, honest and truthful and ready to work. Don t never come to your job with an attitude and
take your anger out on your co workers. When working in an office it s a lot of times people are going
to come in there rude and even be disrespectful. You have to learn to let things like that go. And you
have to realize that you are going to meet people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s a job and it still will get the bills paid and money in your pockets. It s fun working in an office
especially with the ones you get along with and most of all someone you work with. The average pay
for administrative assistants is $20 per hour. Executive assistants can make upwards of $30 per hour.
Sometimes it s not always about what you don t wont to do it s about what you have to do to make
ends meet. I know working in an office sometimes might not be where the money at but it s better than
nothing. Working in an office all day gets irritating and frustrating especially when you have to fax a
lot of papers and write names down. Being in an office all day can get real loud in maybe sometimes
real busy. Sometimes you might have to work late because you didn t fax a paper off right. When I
first took office assistant it was boring and the days where going by so slow. Once I got used to it
became much more exciting and interesting. Just think of being in an office it s just like having an

Colon Cancer Research Paper
Cancer is something that not only affects the person diagnosed with it, but also the people who know
them. When my grandmother got colon cancer in 2008, the family was distraught with the news and
didn t know how to react. After she had died from cancer in 2009, I wasn t aware of exactly what kind
of cancer she had and how the severity was. I didn t even know what each of the stages meant. After I
found out what kind of cancer she had, I still wasn t sure how it was caused, what kind of effects it
had, what kind of treatments she had, and if there was any way it could ve been prevented. Although
there isn t a precise reason as to what causes colon cancer, there are several risk factors. Two of those
risk factors are genetic mutations which are familial adenomatous polyposis and hereditary
nonpolyposis colorectal cancer. Familial adenomatous polyposis is an uncommon disorder which
makes thousands of polyps develop along the lining of your colon ... Show more content on

For stage zero colon cancer patients, the cancer cells haven t spread past the inner lining of the colon
so surgery is the only thing needed. The surgery is usually done by polypectomy if the tumor is small
enough; if not, a colon resection, or colectomy is needed. By stage one of colon cancer, the cells have
spread throughout many layers of the colon, but not through the colon s walls so surgery would only
be needed to take out the part of the colon that has cancer or any lymph nodes. Stage two and three
treatments include more colectomy and chemotherapy and possibly radiation treatments depending on
how many cancer cells were removed. For stage four of colon cancer, there is a small chance that
surgery could remove the cancer cells since it could spread to the liver, lungs, the lining of the
abdominal cavity, or other lymph nodes. If the cancer is too widespread, then colectomy or diverting
colostomy might be

Skittles Marketing Plan
Skittles is a well known, long standing brand that has pleased consumers for generations. However, it
is our contention that the name s growth is stagnating, and needs to be revitalized based upon a core
marketing goal: bring Skittles from simply a candy something one consumes on a whim and forgets
about to a brand that engenders both value and feeling for consumers. With such a focus, the objective
is to influence the seemingly minor consumer choice between confections in vending machines and on
store shelves by linking a positive and pleasing emotion to the image of the brand. The intention is to
achieve realistic, long term financial goals, which will be controlled through measuring actual results
against initial projections. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further research on candy sales has yielded an adjusted 50 70% industry average range for retail profit
margins, suggesting a manufacturer to distributor price of $0.18 to $0.30 per bag.3 The secret to profit
is to make use of an intensive distribution, wherein Skittles are available in every store and vending
machine possible. Since this is already the case, the only new distribution concerns that enter the
marketing plan consist of seasonal products and Skittles vodka. Seasonal Skittles will be circulated
through stores, as interchanging products in vending machines is significantly more difficult.
However, Absolut Rainbow will rely on Absolut Vodka s distribution network after product
development. Distribution
Distribution for the brand is already exceptional; it is rare to see a vending machine or candy display
without at least one variety of Skittles. The current method of distributing the product is a mixture of
pull and push strategies. Retailers of candy demand Skittles because they know that consumers will
purchase them often enough to move product and produce profit, while Wrigley actively offers the
product to said retailers, using their already present pull force to facilitate even wider distribution. The
above analysis leads to the belief that changing the basic distribution strategy is unwise, yet

East Bakersfield Personal Expectations
I once read, to change the system, you have to be the system unknown. Determination will take me
where I need to go in order to create an impact on the life of others, even if it is only one life I am
affecting. For many years I was determined to experience college somewhere outside of Bakersfield
however, about halfway through my junior year I realized I could help the people in the city I am
from. Opportunities will get me to where I am going and Bakersfield will remain my background. East
Bakersfield High School and its staff play a huge role in all that I wish to become as a person and in
my career. I come from a family of four, and as the baby of the family one may say the pressure to
succeed is intense within myself. My father did not graduate from high school, although he has been

John M Barry On Politics Analysis
John M. Barry examines the nuances of power in America by comparting and connecting and the
concepts behind politics, sports, and the media in Power Plays. As a means of maintaining the
audience s attention, Barry uses an informative narrative tone through different specific examples
along with anecdotal experiences to prevent the topic from becoming entirely conceptual. Barry, a
former college football coach, is able to draw parallels between sports and politics displaying how
powerful agendas affect lives. Barry focuses much on the devious tactics that are used to create or
destroy America s most powerful figures.
Barry represents sports as a metaphor for American politics by demonstrating how the powerful will

Jim Wright and Newt Gingrich were both House Speakers. Jim Wright was the Speaker beginning in
1987, however he was forced to resign in 1989. Barry explores how Gingrich, who Barry recalls was
ruthless in the coldest way, exploited and manipulated the media to unfairly and unjustly bring down
Wright through a scandal. While it was Gingrich who orchestrated the attacks on Wright, Barry
focuses mainly on the media as being a player in the game. Gingrich understood the influential power
of the media. While most politicians dislike the media as most of what is written exists as lies or
exaggerations, powerful politicians are able to manipulate the media to further their own needs. Inside
the game, the politician with the better tactics, for example the one who knows what to say, when to
say it, and with what tone should it be said, will have a more positive relationship with the media and
a greater chance to abuse the influence the media has. Outside the game, similarly to athletes, money
has power and can be crucial in establishing relationships. Therefore the man who has greater money
has a greater potential to create positive ties with the media. Again, while this book, due to the time
period, relates this power of influence struggle between Wright and Gingrich, a more up to date
comparison would be between potential Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton, who owns the media
through inside the game tactics and Donald Trump, who holds influence outside the game by using his
own non lobbyist

Marginalization Of Women In Persepolis
In the graphic novel, Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi creates a visual representation of what life was like
in Iran, being a girl growing up there during the Islamic Revolution. Transitioning from a child to an
adult, Marjane comes to many realizations about her life. She sees how women are marginalized and
looked down upon by people, especially Islamic men. Growing up in a communist household, she has
insight on how people were silenced by the government for not following Islam. Throughout this
book, one can see that the marginalization of women is a clear theme. This has a lot to do with the
time and place this book is set in, which is in Tehran Iran, during the Islamic Revolution. Marjane
recalls how much this revolution impacted her life. Before the revolution she was free to be an
unmolded child, running around, wearing what she wanted, playing with her friends; but once the
revolution began, things started to change. Women and girls had to start wearing hijabs, bilingual
schools were shut down, and boys and girls were separated. Women were told they were sluts if they
weren t wearing their hijab. This happens to Marjane s mother when she was walking down the street
without a hijab on and confronted by two men, who assaulted her and said she Should be pushed up
against a wall and fucked. And then thrown in the garbage (74). A similar instance occurred to
Marjane when she was walking to the store. A Muslim woman who was assigned to arrest other
women who were improperly veiled, came up to Marjane and told her, Lower your scarf, you little
whore! (133). Satrapi uses the constant mention of clothing and hijabs to symbolize how women were
treated in general during the revolution in Iran.
Another constant theme one can see throughout this book, is the silencing and oppression of non
Islamic people, especially communists. Marjane s parents were communists, so she witnessed first
hand what it was like to be in a communist family growing up during the Islamic Revolution. Her
parents were careful about their actions, always making sure no one in authority found out what they
were talking about. The government created laws and regulations to try and make everyone follow
Islam, and if they didn t, they were

Women Have Shaped Canadian History
Women have shaped Canadian History The proliferation of Canadian women s movements, notably
their redefining role in society, has had a profound propitious impact on Canada s identity in the
twentieth century. The contribution of Canadian women in the cultural life (sports, the arts and dance),
the political impact from the leadership role of a female perspective (Nellie McClung) and women s
economic empowerment all contribute to the shape of Canadian history. Our current Canadian
national identity has been shaped and developed by events from our past by our determination, doing
the impossible , staying dedicated and true. Also by doing what others thought we couldn t, proving
people wrong and being dedicated to our plans and outlines (Vimy Ridge). By gaining more
independence, freedom, equality, rights and responsibilities . By being compassionate, sticking to your
words and seeking for new rights (Pierre Trudeau). Even though there are so many past events that
have shaped and developed our Canadian national identity, negative things have also done the same
but in a negative way. We Canadians are proud of our accomplishments and achievements. We have
shaped and developed a great Canadian national identity from the past which we are still making. We
have made mistakes and we are still trying to mend those today. Overall our Canadian national
identity has been shaped and developed by events in our past by achieving our recognition and

The National Security Language Initiative For Youth
Last semester I was in India with a study abroad program sponsored by the State Department. The
National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI Y) was created in part to learn languages not
often spoken in the United States but also to create cross cultural education and understanding. World
peace can be achieved by broadening each other s perspectives through everyday interactions. This
idea forms an essential part of NSLI Y s mission: that we can improve understanding between our
country and others, and this is achievable if each one of us decides to be the change that we hope to
see in our communities. This mission aligns with both my personal and future professional missions,
and as a NSLI Y student and alumna, I am able to be ambassador, building connections between
communities through everyday interactions, volunteering, and speaking about my study abroad
experience. Therefore, as a study abroad participant, perhaps the most simple, but one of the most
important ways, to promote intercultural learning is to get involved. As a member of my host
community, I was able to open my ears and mind to every opportunity available to me to participate in
my community: through everyday traditions and once a year celebrations, school activities, volunteer
opportunities, and religious and extracurricular activities. I said yes to all of the new opportunities that
presented themselves to me, whether it was trying a new, unidentifiable food or running a 5K. I let my

An Analysis Of Stephen Dobyns Deceptions
Secrets are precious vessels, travelling from a person s heart, out of their mouth, and into another s
ear. But sometimes, due to misplaced trust, the vessels do not stay sealed, or protected, as they should
be. Rather, they are exposed to the masses, and that person s heart is one display for all to see and
judge and interpret. Poems are the secrets of a poet s heart. When a poet writes, it is not intended for
an audience. Rather, it comes from a private place that can no longer be suppressed. There is an
overwhelming desire to tell, to reveal, that leads a poet to paper. The paper serves as a blank space
where they can express their inner desires, fears, or experiences without worrying about the judgment
of others. Once a poem is finished, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. How The Movie Shattered Glass Changed My Perspective On... The movie Shattered Glass changed my my perspective on journalism because it showed me how hard it is to get something published and fact checked, but incorrect information can still slip through and get published. I learned about the institution and and the relationship about the people who sustain them which is they have to have a good trusting relationship or the whole business will crash. I also learned a lesson about how lying can get you fired and lose public trust which will be very hard trying to get another journalist job if no one trusts you. In the movie Shattered Glass Stephen Glass was a journalist, but all of his stories were fabricated and fake making this story fascinating because of all the trials his stories had to go through to even get published and yet it still got in the magazine he was working for. Towards the end of the movie when his article Hack Heaven was discovered as fake he had a break down saying he was stressed and didn t mean to lie about the piece he was working on. This has showed his downfall of trust with his company which led to him getting a 2 year suspension, but when his other articles were found out to be fake to he was fired. • 3. Climate Change and Public Policy Essay examples It is becoming increasingly certain that climate change will have severe adverse effects on the environment in years to come. Addressing this issue poses a serious challenge for policy makers. How we choose to respond to the threat of global warming is not simply a political issue. It is also an economic issue and an ethical one. Responsible, effective climate change policy requires consideration of a number of complex factors, including weighing the costs of implementing climate change policies against the benefits of more environmentally sustainable practices. Furthermore, this analysis must take place amidst serious gaps in the existing research and technology concerning the developing climatic condition. For these reasons, global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, even for those who are less motivated by such moralistic calls to action, the fact remains that conservation is as much an economic issue as an ethical one. While economic considerations are a problematic feature of climate change policy, under the proper analysis, they also serve as an important motivator. Economic analysis that weighs all costs and benefits of a particular model must include environmental considerations. That is to say, the potential for short term economic losses caused by conservation in the present, should be measured against the dividends that conservation will pay in the future (Nordhaus, 2007). If the earth is truly our most valuable commodity, then analysis under these conditions should recognize that if a dollar value were placed on environmental sustainability, more often than not it would outweigh any initial monetary loss resultant of the implementation of more sustainable practices. Indeed, if we accept the danger of global warming to be a real and present one, then the question of how to address it must be given serious consideration. Research conducted from as early as the 1950s through the present has afforded us a solid understanding of its causes. In the most basic sense, the problem lies in the burning of carbon based fossil fuels such as carbon and oil which leads to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2). Gases such as CO2 are referred to as greenhouse gases (GHGs) which accumulate in the atmosphere. GHGs can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The authors do this through the two characters, Meursault and Anton. Through Meursault, we see that his past actions affect the outcome of his trial. Through Anton, we see that his present situation constantly brings him back to his past despite him trying to escape it. Thus the authors stylistically link the past and present to demonstrate that they are inevitably related, where certain events are unavoidable or the past is undeniable. This is evident during the trial process when the prosecutor rationally explains for Meursault the series of event that happened, although Meursault himself does not have a solid explanation for his actions. The prosecutor explains it so well, that even Meursault himself finds it quite plausible . Anton s past is brought back to him in a different way than Meursault. When Anton meets Cor Takes he starts repainting the picture of the tragic night. It was fate that brought Takes to Anton, allowing him to overhear Takes. This brought Anton s past back to the present by discovering the motives of Takes and was the first time that he had cried over what had happened. Before this, he was able to put the past behind him but was never able to escape it. When it was brought back to him, Takes words reaches into his heart, and was why he cried. Although the Ottoman and Mughal Empire both did not force conversions into Islam, the Ottoman s development relied on their tough military force, while the decline of the Mughal Empire was caused by Aurangzeb s policy of religious persecution and high taxes. These different strategies of conquering land helped the 2 empires rule throughout Asia and, in the Ottoman s case, some parts of Europe also. Although the Ottoman and Mughal empires had two different reasons for decline, both were because of the leaders currently in power at the time. • 9. Essay about Analysis of the Poems of Robert Frost The Road Not Taken and Nothing Gold Can Stay are just two of many very famous poems, written by none other than Robert Frost. Robert Frost is a poet that is well known for his poetic contributions to nature, as well as his award winning poems. His poetic ability and knowledge make him an extraordinary author. His past; including schooling, family, and the era in which he wrote influenced nearly all of his poems in some way. This very famous poet contributed to the modernism era, had a family and an interesting life story, and a unique poetic style as well. It mostly just focused on the interior dialogue and its unique characteristics. Robert Lee Frost, born in 1874, grew up in California. He was an extraordinary student, and ended his high school career as one of the valedictorians. He was very intelligent, and even went on to Dartmouth College, though he did not graduate. He was married to his former high school classmate Elinor White in 1895. Together they gave birth to six children. Later in life he attended Harvard College. Robert Frost was known for his love of nature, and portrays it in many of his poems. For part of his life he worked as a farmer, which could have contributed to his love for nature. Though Frost clearly states, I am not a nature poet. There is almost always a person in my poems (frostfriends.org). Frost obviously does not want people to think that he writes strictly about nature. He wants others to see the meaning behind his poetry, as well as the human psychology hidden underneath his poems. Along with Emily Dickinson, Whitman represented the Romantic literature era of American literature. Whitman is known for his distinctive poetic forms and free verse. The following work from Pound was a pact he made with Whitman: It was you that broke the new wood, Now is a time for carving. We have one sap and one root Let there be commerce between us (quoted in Willard 573). In the first essay by Nietzsche in The Genealogy of Morals, he explains both how the words good and bad become defined and how they have changed over time through people s perception. First, the reason parental expectation is set in place, to begin with, is to regulate children and their actions. Second of all, having certain achievements to meet has a significant impact on children and their future. Lastly, the need to meet accomplishments set forth by the head(s) of the family serve as a way to improve on one s self for children. For these reasons, parental expectations should be made. • 21. Similarities Between Dawalski And Blanche Dubois Character is how a person acts when no one else is looking. As a person is portrayed and perceived they are better understood when unveiling the true personality of an individual rather than their false persona. Both Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski s performance vary and differ depending on the situation and the person of interaction. Blanches fluctuating performance and actions can be found countless times in the book A Street Car Named Desire. To analyze this personality aspect, Blanche can been seen doing this with her sister Stella Dubois. Williams reveals this in the lines Now don t get worried, your sister hasn t turned into a drunkard, she s just all shaken up and hot and tired and dirty , and again in What you are talking about is brutal desire just desire . The primary evidence can reveal her fraud performance upon encountering her sister once again. Blanche attempts to portray herself as a traditional, accepted woman. She pretends to be a woman of no fault and who only drinks on rare occasions. Yet when the story is further read she can be seen drinking day after day. Blanche can actually be classified as a drunk seeking to escape from reality. Blanche strives to fulfill the performance of a conventional day to day woman, in front of her sister Stella. Phonological Awareness (PA) is the process in which students learn that words are made up of phonemes (sounds) and learn each individual phoneme (Eissa, 2014). PA is the ability to recognize rhymes, counting syllables, and separating the beginning sound from the ending sound (e.g. /c/ from /at/) (Yopp Yopp, 2000). • 23. Iva Park Trail Short Story Report It was always a joy for the trail crew to call in the mules and horses early in the morning from the lush, Leprechaun green government pasture down in Red s Meadow on a sweet, warm summer s day. The animals really loved it too, as they munched on mush from feed bags tied around their necks. They would get so frisky and spunky from feeling their oats that they would deposit road apples in the corral. This was soon stomped into the dirt and completely overwhelmed the fresh, fragrant smell of flowers, meadow and forest. After they were fed it was time to brush, saddle, pack and place each mule in its unique position in the string. It was a big land that humbled the little crew, as they ventured into the backcountry to repair the trails that the American people so dearly love. When they finally reached Iva Belle, they decided to set up camp in their favorite location, above the meadow and in the Lodgepole Pine trees. Packers and trail crews always have a favorite spot that they go to, and this was it. The men were tired from the long ride but knew they must take care of the animals first. They threw up a hitch line between some trees and tethered each animal to it. They unpacked, unsaddled and watered the stock one by one at a small creek nearby. Camp was set up quickly in their special, organized way with a kitchen, latrine and tent pads. Firewood was gathered and dinner ready to go within an hour. Everyone felt very satisfied after eating a fresh salad, steak, corn on the cob and ice cold beer. Mule packing was definitely the life of luxury in the backcountry. Most of the trail crew had heard stories about the notorious history of Iva Belle Hot Springs in the 60s, when it was rumored that naked hippies wandered aimlessly, stoned on LSD, doing God only knows what in the water bubbling up from the bowels of the earth. At the mention of this, the boss said to the crew, Let s take the halters off the stock and let them graze the meadow. After all the animals were unhitched, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Illusion Of Explanatory Depth It is difficult to avoid but rather uncomplicated to fix. The illusion of explanatory depth arises whenever one thinks they know something better than they actually do. In many labs types of research will measure and correct by asking bystanders topics like, how well do you know how to tie your shoe or even how does a phone charger simply charges your phone. This powerful concept was discovered by Leinid Rozenblit and Frank Keil in 2002, they stated: Most people feel they understand the world with far great detail, coherence, and depth than they really do. Various studies proved that self knowledge drastically decreased when participants were put to the test to explain how the task in question operates. The illusion of explanatory depth is often called IOED for short. Adam Waytz stated in his article A survey was given in 2014 and discovered that at most, six out of ten Americans only read news headlines and nothing more When one understands the illusion of explanatory depth it will allow them to combat political extremism. Assistant professor Philip Fernbach and staff showed that Illusion of explanatory depth clearly was the cause of other policy positions on multiple issues. When my grandmother got colon cancer in 2008, the family was distraught with the news and didn t know how to react. • 27. Skittles Marketing Plan Skittles is a well known, long standing brand that has pleased consumers for generations. However, it is our contention that the name s growth is stagnating, and needs to be revitalized based upon a core marketing goal: bring Skittles from simply a candy something one consumes on a whim and forgets about to a brand that engenders both value and feeling for consumers. With such a focus, the objective is to influence the seemingly minor consumer choice between confections in vending machines and on store shelves by linking a positive and pleasing emotion to the image of the brand. The intention is to achieve realistic, long term financial goals, which will be controlled through measuring actual results against initial projections. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further research on candy sales has yielded an adjusted 50 70% industry average range for retail profit margins, suggesting a manufacturer to distributor price of $0.18 to $0.30 per bag.3 The secret to profit is to make use of an intensive distribution, wherein Skittles are available in every store and vending machine possible. Since this is already the case, the only new distribution concerns that enter the marketing plan consist of seasonal products and Skittles vodka. Seasonal Skittles will be circulated through stores, as interchanging products in vending machines is significantly more difficult. However, Absolut Rainbow will rely on Absolut Vodka s distribution network after product development. Distribution Distribution for the brand is already exceptional; it is rare to see a vending machine or candy display without at least one variety of Skittles. The current method of distributing the product is a mixture of pull and push strategies. Retailers of candy demand Skittles because they know that consumers will purchase them often enough to move product and produce profit, while Wrigley actively offers the product to said retailers, using their already present pull force to facilitate even wider distribution. The above analysis leads to the belief that changing the basic distribution strategy is unwise, yet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barry explores how Gingrich, who Barry recalls was ruthless in the coldest way, exploited and manipulated the media to unfairly and unjustly bring down Wright through a scandal. While it was Gingrich who orchestrated the attacks on Wright, Barry focuses mainly on the media as being a player in the game. Gingrich understood the influential power of the media. While most politicians dislike the media as most of what is written exists as lies or exaggerations, powerful politicians are able to manipulate the media to further their own needs. Inside the game, the politician with the better tactics, for example the one who knows what to say, when to say it, and with what tone should it be said, will have a more positive relationship with the media and a greater chance to abuse the influence the media has. Outside the game, similarly to athletes, money has power and can be crucial in establishing relationships. Therefore the man who has greater money has a greater potential to create positive ties with the media. • 30. Marginalization Of Women In Persepolis In the graphic novel, Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi creates a visual representation of what life was like in Iran, being a girl growing up there during the Islamic Revolution. Transitioning from a child to an adult, Marjane comes to many realizations about her life. She sees how women are marginalized and looked down upon by people, especially Islamic men. Growing up in a communist household, she has insight on how people were silenced by the government for not following Islam. Throughout this book, one can see that the marginalization of women is a clear theme. This has a lot to do with the time and place this book is set in, which is in Tehran Iran, during the Islamic Revolution. Marjane recalls how much this revolution impacted her life. Before the revolution she was free to be an unmolded child, running around, wearing what she wanted, playing with her friends; but once the revolution began, things started to change. Women and girls had to start wearing hijabs, bilingual schools were shut down, and boys and girls were separated. Women were told they were sluts if they weren t wearing their hijab. This happens to Marjane s mother when she was walking down the street without a hijab on and confronted by two men, who assaulted her and said she Should be pushed up against a wall and fucked. And then thrown in the garbage (74). A similar instance occurred to Marjane when she was walking to the store. A Muslim woman who was assigned to arrest other women who were improperly veiled, came up to Marjane and told her, Lower your scarf, you little whore! (133). Satrapi uses the constant mention of clothing and hijabs to symbolize how women were treated in general during the revolution in Iran. Another constant theme one can see throughout this book, is the silencing and oppression of non Islamic people, especially communists. Marjane s parents were communists, so she witnessed first hand what it was like to be in a communist family growing up during the Islamic Revolution. Her parents were careful about their actions, always making sure no one in authority found out what they were talking about. The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI Y) was created in part to learn languages not often spoken in the United States but also to create cross cultural education and understanding. World peace can be achieved by broadening each other s perspectives through everyday interactions. This idea forms an essential part of NSLI Y s mission: that we can improve understanding between our country and others, and this is achievable if each one of us decides to be the change that we hope to see in our communities. This mission aligns with both my personal and future professional missions, and as a NSLI Y student and alumna, I am able to be ambassador, building connections between communities through everyday interactions, volunteering, and speaking about my study abroad experience.
