Comparison Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr And Wallace s Speech
It was the was the beginning of a new decade, Americans believed the 1960 s were going to be
the dawn of the golden age. Many historical feats are occurring, John Steinbeck wins a noble
peace prize, Nixon and Kennedy have the first televised debate, Mohamed Ali wins a gold medal
and the Civil Rights Movement is at the precipice in America. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and
Governor George C. Wallace are two prominent figures throughout the Civil Rights Movement.
Individually, they deliver historical speeches concerning civil rights, however the dialogue
encompasses completely different messages. Comparatively, the two speeches will be presented
side by side using Aristotle s, Kairos, Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. The year was 1963, as the chaos
of segregation was unfolding in the Southern states, Governor Wallace and Dr. King were
prepared to give their speech on Civil Rights. Governor Wallace will be addressing his
constituents in the beginning of the year, whereas Dr. King s response will be a few months
later. With that in mind, these two speeches will be analyzed using the appropriate and pivotal
moment they were delivered, also known as Kairos. January 1963, Governor Wallace is proudly
standing where the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis took his oath of office. He is
ready to address his fellow Americans with his inaugural speech as the newly appointed Governor
of Alabama. This key location is where he and fellow Southerner, Jefferson Davis share the same

My Reflection Of A Writing Course By Susan Mills
In the fall of 2016 I was enrolled in Susan Mills Comp. II course. During my time in this course
we were tasked with several major assignments that were planned so we meet the student learning
outcomes for the writing program. Some of these writing outcomes are 1.) Students use the writing
process to compose with purpose, creating multimodal texts for various audiences, and 2.) Students
productively interact with their peers, often in small groups, in the reiterative processes of
feedback, revision, and editing. Throughout my time in this course I not only had a satisfying
learning experience but enjoyed my time in Professor Mills course as well.
One of my first memories I Have in this class is when we all gathered up in circle to discuss a
certain topic. If I remember correctly we were to discuss various activity systems ... Show more

The rice experiment videos essentially is an experiment where someone tested how the use of
words affected how fast grains of rice go bad. The test calls for grains of rice in two separate jars.
One jar is told negative things while the other is told positive things. The experiment proved that
negative words have a negative effect on objects while positive words does the opposite. When
professor Mills began the video I thought the experiment would not prove anything about
communication. However, I was wrong. I was astonished that the experiment actually proved what
it sought to show. I wanted to find a logical explanation that would show what could have caused
the outcome, but was unable too. This experiment showed me just how much language and
communication can affect the outside world. It actually blows my mind to think that words cannot
only hurt my feelings but my wellbeing as well. This experiment essentially proves that the saying

Comparing Bluebeard And Bloody Chamber
In this essay I will be comparing the disturbing elements in 3 books we have read. These books
are The Classic Fairy Tales edited by Maria Tatar, The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter and
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The fairy tales and the bloody chamber both are a book with
individual stories in them I will be focusing on the fairytale of bluebeard and bloody chamber in
The Bloody Chamber and how they relate in their disturbingness and how Lolita is very
disturbing too but in a different way. Although these 3 books are a little different they all gave
me the same unsettled feeling when reading them. In The Classic Fairy Tales there are a couple
versions of Bluebeard , I am going to focus on the Perrault version. In this fairytale there is a man
who lives in a giant house and has a wife, after a while of being married he needs to travel for
business and he tells his wife to explore the house and gives her a set of keys to explore the
house but tells her that there is a small door at the end of a hall way that she cannot open, and if
she does then he will get very angry at her. He goes onto say Go anywhere you wish. But I

Effective Pain Control In Acute Care
16 Effective pain control is a key component when caring for a patient in the acute care setting.
Knowing the patients pain level and if they are experiencing pain you must have them describe it.
This is to ensure that it will be treated appropriately. Although, there are many interventions that can
take place including pharmaceutical and alternative non pharmaceutical measures. There are several
barriers that can get in the way of the patient receiving the correct care for their pain. These barriers
can be related to the health care system, the providing professional of the patients, their families or

Pros And Cons Of No-Platforming
In Thomas Hobbes s famous work, The Leviathan he created his famous social contract theory ,
that states individuals will need to give up some of their own personal autonomy to ensure the
security of the state. Looking at this social contract as a spectrum, with security on one end and
liberty on the other, one must find a balance between the two. In 2017 there are still on going
debates where people want their society to fall on that spectrum, some would rather have more
liberty and others more security. In 2016 the Free Speech Debateput out a video debating whether
no platforming should be practised at universities. No platforming can be defined a strategy that
argues that certain peoples should not be given a platform to speak in a certain social space due to
their rhetoric constituting hate speech . Both sides of the debate, the pro no platforming and the
anti no platforming teams, gave great points on how serious this issue is, and that there can be real
life benefits and consequences on either side of the debate.
Pro No Platforming The main argument of No Platforming is that there is an unfair power dynamic
at play. A platform gives speakers a medium to amplify their message without having to debate
against protestors; this unfair as it gives those already in power, that have the resources to platform,
an advantage in that they have a greater ability to get their point across, creating a cycle that
perpetuates the dominant group of societies message and

The Impact Of Advancements Of Robotic Technology Essay
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of the advancements of robotic
technology in libraries. It provides a literature based background on the general state of robotics
and adds insights related to the library setting. Additionally, it looks into the factors that libraries
need to consider when planning to acquire robots, including finances, staff and technical
knowledge, space and charging facilities. Finally, it provides a quick look at how this technology
will affect both the libraries and communities. I. Introduction The concept of robots has been with
humans for a long time. From the robot knight plan of Leonardo da Vinci to the automatons of
Jacques de Vaucanson, to the robots created by several robotics companies, people have
demonstrated a fascination. The word robot came from the Czech word, robota which means
forced labor . In 1921, writer Karel Capek used it in his play entitled Rossum s Universal Robots
(R.U.R.). The credit for coming up with such term, however, goes to Josef Capek, his brother.
Presently, robot means a machine that performs complex actions, similar to humans or other
animals; also a machine that can perform repetitive tasks, guided by automatic controls. (Shulman
Buckley, 2014). Advances in technology have allowed the world to move forward in the creation of
these machines for various purposes. Libraries, being both learning and cultural hubs of societies,
have unique opportunities to introduce the idea of robots.

The Armorer s Shop By David Teniers
Conservation Study
While there were several works of art that I had liked, the artwork and album finally chosen from
Noelle Ocon s album for this particular study was The Armorer s Shop by David Teniers the
Younger and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The goals for the study of this painting were to delve into
topics such as subject matter, spectrum bands used to reveal information about the painting, and
conservation efforts in general. As such, this study will start with the subject matter and style of
presentation.
The Armorer s Shop s medium and materials are oil paints applied to connected wood panels. The
artwork was painted circa 1640 1645 ( The Armorer s Shop. ), and depicts an armorer s shop as the
title suggests. To go further into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, outside of The Armorer s Shop, there is virtually no evidence that Brueghel and
Teniers ever collaborated with each other (Woll.)
As seen in the visible light photographs, the painting was flaking in some areas. The key issue here,
however, is not necessarily the flaking paint. Instead, it is the fact there were also two barely
noticeable lines that were particularly noticeable from the back of the painting. At the time of these
first few pictures, The Armorer s Shop had been strictly attributed to Teniers the Younger, with no
mention of Brueghel (Huskinson).
The painting was first analyzed using visible light, which can only show some surface details
through techniques like grazing. However, a couple of other bands of the spectrum that can be used
to obtain information about the painting in question are infrared, in the form of infrared
reflectography, and x ray. These were both utilized in this case to analyze The Armorer s Shop.
Infrared can be used to see through the paint layers to the underdrawing and also to detect details
in the painting that may have changed color since being painted ( Infrared (IR) Light. ). X ray can
be used to see through the entire painting to detect its base and find possible weaknesses or
damages to the painting s

My Family s Influence On My Life
The word community maintains an assortment of meanings for each of us. These meanings are
composed from various life experiences within our communities. To me, my communities include
my family, friends, schools, work, and the town I live in. My communities have had an influence
on who I have become as a person and continue to influence me on a daily basis. As I reflect back
on the past twenty years, the communitythat has had the most impact on me is my family. Now,
everyone has their own definition of family. So, when I say the word family, I am referring to
my mom and dad. These two people have had the most influence on my life. From the very
beginning, I began to shape the person I am based on the people my parents are. I can remember
spending many hours with my dad in his shop, watching him diagnose mechanical problems.
Then I would watch as he took apart a machine piece by piece, only to reassemble it exactly the
same way once the problem at hand was resolved. As the years progressed, I became closer with
my mom, spending the majority of my time with her. I would help her around the house with
everyday chores. I can remember the joy I experienced when I was able to go to work with mom.
I would watch in awe at the number of tasks my mother was responsible for at one time. How she
would swiftly move from one task to another, handling the many interruptions, and balancing the
numerous new tasks placed on her desk each day. Spending much of my time with

Becoming An Automotive Automaker
Any time a revolutionary new technology is introduced, a period of plethoric propagation follows.
It was no different during the rise of automobiles in the embryonic Twentieth Century. Up until
October 24th, 1929 (Black Thursday (the stock Market Crash)), the only thing standing between an
engineer and an automaker; was creativity, talent and drive.
People were essentially popping out of the woodworks trying to make it inside the (mangled )
metaphoric; automotive winners cabin. At the time the technology was so avant garde that there
were no known pitfalls to circumvent.
Automakers were rewarded by investors with reckless abandonment. The only requisite necessary
for an automotive engineer seeking an investor, was a functioning product. There ... Show more

The main focus was big picture: does it drive? Automakers were racing to race. Just make a car as
fast as possible, and make sure it is faster than our rivals.
The notion of a lemon had not been contemplated, so prospective automakers were solely
interested in getting an automobile on the market. The way they saw it, as long as they did not
have a product to push someone else was stealing their sales.
Moreover, there was little to no product verification in the first moiety of the 1900s. Our consumer
protection was the legal equivalent of no takesies backsies, so if/when patrons had problems with
their product the response was breviloquent at best.
And to be clear, the automakers did not act out of malice, nor is it my intent to demonize any one or
even that particular era of automaking. One cannot condemn those who genuinely did not know
any better.
In the early era of automakers, simply making an automobile was an act of genius. The acuity of
automotive foresight was impossible due to a lack of (eventual) evidence and objective assurity.
Furthermore, this Era led to automaker proliferation; which in turn accelerated automotive
evolution, and expedited progress via profuse

Economic perspective of Climate change Climate is an average weather condition during a region
in a given period, it will not change by one day or one night, but instead caused through over time.
From the perspective of meteorology, The climate changerefers to a specific location, time of
regional or global climate change or conversion, based on the all of the conditions associated with
the average weather characteristics, such as temperature, wind and precipitation etc. According to
the IPCC s Synthesis Report, Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions have increased since the pre
industrial era, driven largely by economic and population growth, and are now higher than ever.
This has led to atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide that are
unprecedented in at least the last 800,000 years. Their effects, together with those of other
anthropogenic drivers, have been detected throughout the climate system and are extremely likely
to have been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid 20th century (Page4)

Crime Is The Nature Of Crime
It is widely assumed that the media, particularly television, newspapers and the internet, are
primary sources of knowledge and understanding of crime issues in our 21st century modern
society (Nguyen et. al, 2005). However, there is widespread concern that the level and type of
crime reported in the media produces an inaccurate view of the reality of crimein the community
(Fields Jerin, 1996; Windschuttle, 1988). The purpose of this essay is to address the question; is
the nature of crime in our society accurately presented in the media? To effectively provide an
answer, a discussion on public perceptions, crime statistics and the impact of crime reporting in the
media will commence. Following will be a conclusion that will state that the nature of crime in our
society is not accurately presented in the media.
There has been extensive research comparing the nature of crime in the media with the nature of
crime in reality with most evaluations concluding that the media greatly distorts or misrepresents
not only the nature of crime but also crime rates, typical victims and typical offenders (Hayes and
Prenzler, 2015). Often, this research draws upon official crime statistics which have consistently
shown that most crime is non violent and not rising (Davis Dossetor, 2010) which is oppositional
to the media s portrayal (Garofalo, 1981). Even so, public perceptions continue to emanate a
reflection of the media s influence as Davis Dossetor (2010) highlight through a

The Little Mermaid is a fairy tale by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen. The tale
is about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a merperson to

But to gain legs, she must give up her most precious asset, her beautiful voice. There are some
standard elements of teenage life here, including young love, and some degree of rebellion from
ones parents, in this case King Triton, Ariel s father. It was not Ariel s physical beauty that the
Prince loved, but her voice. He is enraptured by the voice even in the presence of Ariel s physical
beauty and great legs. The metaphor here should be obvious. What does a woman lose when she
becomes subservient to a man, or male dominated culture in general? She loses her voice. The
point of the movie is that a young woman s beauty should come not from her physical attributes,
but from her voice, her personality, her self. Metaphorically, without her voice in society, she is
pretty helpless and powerless to change what s going on around her, explain herself, etc. As for the
prince he isn t interested in Ariel just for her looks. It is also important to note that she gets her
reward only after working together with her father, King Triton.
In the original version The Little Mermaid, longing for the prince and an eternal soul, eventually
visits the Sea Witch, who sells her a potion that gives her legs, in exchange for her tongue. The Sea
Witch cuts her tongue and warns her that once she becomes a human, she will never be able to
return to the sea. Drinking the potion made out of snakes and

Hospital Information Systems Integration Plan

Abstract: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is playing a vital role in every aspect
of life; and has drastically contributed in the health sector as well. It s generally agreed that the
development and use of integrated healthcare systems are becoming an absolute necessity to
support the delivery of low cost, high quality care [1]. To achieve this goal; Planning of Information
System is one of the most significant activities for Information System attainment in a large
organization. This paper presents the information systems integration plan for Hospitals operating
under the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK). The main objective of the System
integration is to specify techniques to link all databases of different sub systems in DHSK so that
the information interchange between the sub systems is seamless. The plan shall be accomplished
by applying the methodology consisting of four steps: requirement analysis, conceptual design,
systems architecture design and system implementation. As the results of design, the databases
shall definitely share many identical data items. The presence of identical data items will allow the
information update in batch processing and will facilitate to design a common physical layer. Thus,
a common XML based database implementation along with shared assemblies is recommended to

communication in the Military is so each and every personal is all on the same page. Also so our
organization runs smooth. Communication is the heart of what makes the United States Army
what it is today. Without communication vital information would not be passed down from the
Chief of Command to a chain of Non Commissioned Officers to the soldiers. Not to mention,
innocent lives would be in jeopardy, missions would be misconstrued, and simple information

If you always have a hundred percent accountability you will never have any problems like
wondering where someone is or like wondering why something missing. If you ever have a

anything. If someone like that were to be in charge of a large group of people and not know if
someone could be missing is not a good way to be leader. That s why being disciplined on it
early in your career is important. I understand. One example of being responsible would be to
remember to properly PMCS you re vehicle prior to taking it on mission. The responsible thing
to do would be to go through every aspect of the PMCS and not taking any shortcuts. If your

Exploring The Potential For Addiction
On line gaming has grown a great deal in the last decade, connecting players in countries around
the world. World of Warcraft is perhaps the best known massively multiplayer online roleplaying
game (MMORPG). These games are incredibly immersive and generally have no real ending, with
players able to continue the game indefinitely via expansions and new content being added. A pilot
study by Hussain and Griffiths (2009) set out to explore the potential for addictionto an MMORPG,
within its psychological and psychosocial effects on players. Generally, studies of MMORPGs
have not had a specific focus on addiction or the psychology of on line gaming (as cited in Hussain
Griffiths, 2009).
At the time of their study, it was estimated that there were five million online gamers worldwide
(as cited in Hussain Griffiths, 2009). According to the statistical analysis site Statista, as of 2013
approximately 144.9 million people worldwide are active daily players of online games, an increase
of almost 3000 percent. Hussain and Griffiths note that playing an MMORPG can become an
escape from a player s real life, and a substitute for the social interactions involved in reality.
Therefore, the importance of studying MMORPG s potential for addiction, and research regarding
possible pathology, is even more relevant.
Hussain and Griffiths explored two hypotheses: (1) assess the impact of online gaming on the lives
of gamers, the independent variable being online gaming, the dependent,

literary style and speeches found within Thus Spoke Zarathustra. This report will follow the origins
of Friedrich Nietzsche, the contextualization of his philosophical stances within his famed text, and
the profound influence of his literature in relation to late nineteenth century thought and beyond.

As we approach Nietzsche s philosophy within the text, we must first begin by adopting the
principle of the will to power as the fundamental drive of all things. The principle of the will to
power states that everything must obey something, and if one cannot obey oneself, one must obey
someone else. Those who can transcend and command themselves then, according to Nietzsche,
are the sole carriers of true freedom. The will to power for Nietzsche is not simply the desire for
power or even something that one could choose to have or not, but is rather a characteristic of
everything that lives. Such is observable through the human history of interaction but the will to
power must not only be applied to human beings since ideas like religion, morality, and truth are
also prevailing concepts that are all positioned in the alike struggle that dictates life. The question
is not whether one should have the will to power or not, but rather what quality of will to power
shall manifest. A negation of absolutes, then, is an observable theme throughout Thus Spoke
Zarathustra, as Nietzsche depicts our world and all within it as characterized by the constant
struggling and overcoming of prearranged influences. As we come to adopt this notion of our
world and being in a perpetual flux, we interpret Nietzsche s

This article primarily examines how family income in early and middle childhood impacts one s
academic performance and behavior during middle childhood, and it also investigate the
relationship between the quality of home environment in childhood and development. The major
hypothesis of this article is that an increase in early/middle childhoodfamily income and home
environment quality will improve children s academic performance and behavior during their
middle childhood. In order to investigate whether family income in early/middle childhood plays a
role in children s academic performance and behavior problems during their middle childhood,

palette, casting, music, lighting, sound effects, dialogue, set design, locations, props, impact,
symbolism, plant and payoff, camera angles, editing, pacing, and shot choices/framing. The film
starts in a small rural town of Canton, Mississippi, which involves the violent rape of a ten year

First and foremost, bird s eye view are used to show as if god was watching from above. For
example, when Carl is in his jail cell, the camera is shot at a high angle, tilted and centered on
him. This signifies as if god is watching him from above and also gives the audience perception
of how little power and hopeless Carly is behind bars. Also, during the riot scenes, the camera is
in the sky. Also, more scenes are used with high camera angle or point of view such as the scene
at the judge podium is used to show authority looking down at Jake and his opposition. Fast
editing, pacing and increase speed of music occur during the montage adding impact. For
example, in addition to fast editing, pace, music, the shot choices and framing were very

Abysmal Family Life Of Working-Class Immigrants In...
1)Though the novella is titled Maggie, much of the narrative focuses on people other than
Maggie. So, why do you think Crane named the story after her? I believed Crane named the
story after Maggie because using all the other characters it was giving the readers a background.
It was giving us the understanding of what Maggie was growing up in and why she was making
the decisions she was making. In the beginning it was focused on other characters but towards
the end it shifts focus to Maggie and the analyzation of her actions. In the title the way it is
worded it also suggests that Maggie isn t the only one that has lived this lifestyle. 2)Why was
Crane apparently so committed to replicating the dialect and discussing the abysmal family life of
working class immigrants in the Bowery in 1880s/1890s NYC? Crane was giving the abysmal
family life because again he was trying to give readers a background as well as a peak into the life
of these people. He was explaining and analyzing the level of literacy buy writing passages how

Logarithms In The Pre-Calculator Era
In contemporary mathematics, the arithmetic computations that make up the complex subject have
been eased by the calculator, allowing for revolutionary discoveries and endeavors by mathematical
scholars. However, what can be said of the conduct of mathematicians before the introduction of the
calculator? I certainly find it crucial to understand this, for the pre calculator era is what shaped the
subject into the core study of success. In the classroom the unit of trigonometrythe dynamic analysis
of the triangle and its properties is notorious for functions and operations that rely heavily on the
calculator. I know this from experience, but I also know that there must have been a way to handle
the aforementioned functions and
operations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, this is equivalent to the properties of logarithms in the modern day classroom, without
the Log Table of course. But, why is this important? The answer is the same for logarithms as it is
for the forgotten trigonometric functions: it was easier and quicker for mathematicians and
dilettantes at the time.
Understanding the conduct and purpose of pre calculator logarithms, it can be applied to the
infamous world of trigonometry. In her article Lamb states, Near the angle Оё=0, cos(Оё) is very
close to 1. (Lamb) Therefore, to perform certain computations such as subtracting 1 from cos(Оё)
would yield a very precise result one that, without a calculator, would be nearly impossible to
render. When significant figures are taken into account (that is, the resulting number without
leading or trailing zeroes; a popular application in chemical sciences and advanced mathematics),
the level of complication can build drastically if only so many of them are present in an answer.
And while that may not be a problem in one s early arithmetic, it can prove devastating later on.
But not only do the special trigonometric functions, which I will name shortly,

Process Essay On How To Pitch A Four-Seam Fastball
Pitching is an artwork, the velocity, accuracy, and curve of the ball determines the success of a
pitcher. Just like every professional athlete in order to be a good player you have to know the
fundamentals such as, how to throw a pitch. In order to throw a pitch one has to follow three key
steps: First, grip the ball; afterward, get ready to throw a pitch; and finally, throw the pitch.
There are several ways to through a baseball, the various grips of the ball determines how your
pitch will curve whether it be diagonally, vertically or even horizontally. There are numerous
grips, but the most basic ones are the four seam fastball and curveball. In order to grip a four
seam fastball, spread the index and ring finger slightly, place the tips of the fingers barely over
the laces of the ball, and use the other fingers to hold the ball firmly. Four seam fastball is a pitch
that provides for great location and velocity. But if one feels the need to trick a batter and add
more curve into a pitch, the curveball is the best choice. In order to throw a curveball, place the
index and middle fingers, close and tight next to each other on the seams, and use the other fingers
to grasp the ball firmly. Keep the ball inside the glove; do not begin the motion to throw a pitch until

less expensive to collect. This makes it affordable to add to your coin collection so your kids can

I will admit this is something I have expressed my opinion about as well. My kids are very

competing in a tournament, there are no participation medals or such thing as third place. I have
two boys, both with different levels of self confidence, and see not only the difference in their
attitude, but also in how I respond to their disappointments. Is this fair? I am not sure it is, but in
one child I am still developing resilience and determination, and in the other I am further building
on his desire to achieve. I have raised them both with the same values and have supported their
self worth the same, however, where one is lacking in courage and resilience, the other has

My youngest son is determined, confident, and driven. I find myself using the term next time quite

Examples Of Richard Nixon Inaugural Speech
World Unity Creates a World of Peace
Every president has a specific vision on how to influence America with their policies. Being the
only president to resign from the presidency makes one wonder what did Nixon want to
accomplish as president. During, every president s first term, they have to figure out how to
navigate the office. The inaugural speech, usually, gives the American people an idea of what the
president plans to do, for America. As president, Nixon accomplished many things and strived to
fulfil the promises in his inaugural speech.
The greatest honor history can bestow is the title of peacemaker a quote from Richard Nixon s
inaugural address. Peace and unity were the main points of the speech. Nixon focused on creating
international peace, with all nations, as well as peace within America. Nixon felt that unity was
the only way for people to live on Earth. Not only was peace a huge factor in Nixon s speech,
benefits for American citizens was important to him, as well. Although, Nixon never stated how he
planned to accomplish things, he did clearly state that he wanted to improve healthcare, education
and attain better housing. Overall, this speech was a beacon of hope for the American people to
look forward to.
Nixon was one of the few presidents who have had a second term. Therefore, Nixon had more
than one inaugural speech. Nixon s second speech was very similar to the first speech. Instead,
of focusing on how to be at peace, Nixon assured, the country, that everything was serene and we
needed to maintain it. A person can be expected to act responsibly only if he has responsibility , a
quote from Nixon s second speech. Almost, an ironic statement when Nixon, initially, avoid
responsibility for his crimes. With that being said, Nixon informed Americans that they should be
more responsible for themselves and depend less on the government. More personal responsibility
would better America, in Nixon s eyes. Similarly, to the first speech, Nixon does not state any
plans, but this speech was less inspiring. Unlike, the first speech, this second speech seemed to be a
call to action for the American people.
Obviously, the first and the thirty seventh president had very different priorities

Catholic Social Teaching Essay
Three important Catholic Social Teachings for us to take into account when considering Caritas
actions in the Pacific are Stewardship of Creation, Preferential Option for the Poor and Subsidiarity.
Stewardship is a Catholic Social Teaching which instructs us that we the people have a
responsibility to maintain and take care of the environmental resources, for we are the guardians of
the land, not the true owners. Stewardship is us, God s Creation, having a responsibility to care for
the gifts God has given us, with an emphasis on the environment as disregarding it and not taking
care of it will have detrimental effects on generations to come. This Catholic Social Teaching is

There is no file data caching because most applications now process large files which are simply
too big to be cached. Their architecture is based on a single master to simplify the design. The
system makes three copies of the data by default for recovery. They specify the chunk size to be
64 MB which is very large comparing to chunk size in other files systems because it first reduces
the interaction between clients and master, reduces the network overhead if it uses persistence
TCP connections, and decreases the size of metadata stored in the master however it could bring
overhead if the data size is small when many clients are accessing the same file, but GFS is
designed to majorly address large files. There are three types of metadata that are kept in the
master. They are the file and chunk namespace, mappings from files to chunks, and the locations
of each chunk s replicas. The first two types are stored in the operational log which is stored in
the master s memory. However it doesn t store the third type persistently, it asks each chunk for
its location when the master is being started. GFS uses a consistency model. The files are
consistent if all clients see the same data regardless of which copy they are reading from. The
content of metadata is mutated. In their data flow, they separate between the flow of control and
flow of data. The data is passed linearly to utilize the network bandwidth. The data is forwarded to

Cosby Show Family Values
Family values have always been major conversation matter in the United States and it is often
huge key points when it comes to decision making by politicians and business. Many people
asked the question of how a single person perceives those values. The answer to that is people
often judge family values through two sides of the spectrum, one side being how normal other
people behaves towards each other, and the second side being how they believe others families
behave. Nowadays, people in our society are heavily influence about familyvalues based on what
others tell them, and most importantly, based on what they view on television. Some television

people are curious about how people function as a whole or within their own families. However,

the creation of violent or mature video games, there has been a constant debate on whether it

at explaining how things work but not necessarily for explaining why do such things exist or for
what purpose .

Describe what you understand by independent variable and dependent variable in a scientific
study? ( 5 points) An independent variable is something you have control over, what you can
choose and manipulate. It is a variable that stands alone and doesn t change by other variables.
Although in some cases, you may not be able to manipulate the independent variable. It could be
already there and or fixed. A dependent variable is the variable that s being tested in an experiment.
If the experimenter changes the independent variable, the change in the dependent variable is
observed and recorded. For example a scientist is testing the effect of light and dark on the behavior
of moths by turning a light on and off. The independent variable is the amount of light and the moth
s reaction is dependent variable. A change in the independent variable (amount of light) directly
causes a change in the dependent variable (moth

The Theme Of Lust In Canto V Of Dante s Inferno
As Dante, the pilgrim, makes his way through the second circle of hell in Canto V of Dante s
Inferno, he comes across the lustful. Lust is a very strong sexual desire. Having the desire to
have sex is not a sin, but it becomes sinful when the desire is defected. This means, if the sexual
desire is out of context such as desiring another married man or woman, it then becomes a sin. In
Dante s Inferno, Francesca da Riminitells a story of her and Paolo Malatesta and how lust and
adultery lead to their deaths. For the first time in Hell, Dante feels pity for a soul and I believe he
reacts this way to her story because he puts himself in their shoes and feels their pain. Dante
empathizes with Francesca because this is now her eternal fate.
While making their way through, Dante asks Virgil to speak with the two doves who seem to be
left by themselves. They are Francesca and Paolo. Francesca beings to tell Dante why they are
there in Hell. Francesca, was married to Giovanni Malatesta when she and his brother, Paolo,
were reading Lancelot and shared a kiss because the words of the book set the mood. While
kissing, her husband, his brother, Giovanni walked in and killed the two. Before Francesca finishes
the story, Dante begins to cry because he is so sympathetic to the lovers.
Then I turned to them again to speak and I begun: Francesca, your torments make me weep for
grief and pity, but tell me, in that season of sweet sighs, how and by what signs did Love acquaint
you with your hesitant desire? (Canto 5.115 120). Dante expresses this to show how sorry for her
or for them he feels.
In another sense, I feel as Francesca kind of manipulates him in her language. The way
Francesca speaks in my opinion is someone of charismatic. She tells Dante the story in a way she
never blames herself, but she blames love and the book for her wrong doings. For example,
Love, quick to kindle in the gentle heart, seized this man with the fair form taken from me. The
way of it afflicts me still. Love, which absolves no one beloved from loving, seized me so
strongly with his charm that, as you see, it has not left me yet. Love brought us to one death.
(Canto 5.100 106). Francesca simply blames the adultery her and Paolo

Space Race Pros And Cons
SOCIAL WHEELS AND SPACE RACES
When we talk about recent innovation, social change, industrial change, what pops into most of
our heads is space technology . Gps systems, wifi, the moon landing, and probes all fall into this
category. But how did all these interstellar wonders appear into our everyday life? What pushed
our civilization to expand out tech beyond the sky. The answer to that starts with politics. To be
more exact, a nazi v2 rocket project late in WW2. Although it wasn t a very effective weapon, it
brought the idea of a space technological evolution .The USSR and the US governments captured
the German science team after the war for their own projects. Both nations pooled money into this
new found area of advancement, resulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The explorer was a huge step for the states, their first man made object in space. And what did
Russia do to maintain their technological dominance? Shortly after the American success, the
USSR launched the first man armed mission, and made Yuri Gagarin the first to bask in the
interstellar glory of outer space. And not soon after, the USSR buried the dagger even deeper
with a couple more Russians waving the red flag in outer space. The US barely catching up,
launched into space. The states can thank Kennedy for their first lead on Russia, as he announced
the goal of sending an American to the moon. As we all know now, NASAdelivered the Americans
their leading point when Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon. From the point of view of
other countries, it would make much more sense if both superpowers worked together, instead of
childish symbolic projects. Not only were these experiments expensive, they were also quite
dangerous. As US and USSR relations got better, the space race slowly came to an end. That
officially happened when space stations from both countries docked, and astronauts from both ends
of the race shook hands and shared gifts. This iconic

Essay on Literacy in African-American Literature
Levels of Literacy in African American Literature Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass,
Song of Solomon, and Push
Through literacy will come emancipation. So runs a theme throughout the various selections we
have read thus far. But emancipation comes in many forms, as does literacy. The various aspectsof
academic literacy are rather obvious in relation to emancipation, especially when one is confronted
with exclusion from membership in the dominant culture. In the various slave narratives we have
examined, all but one writer, Mary Prince, managed to achieve academic literacy to varying
degrees (although, Mary Prince was in the process of learning to read and write). And even though
she was not literate, Mary was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Auld s reasoning is that being able to read would [...] forever unfit him [Douglass] to be a slave.
He would at once become unmanageable, and of no value to his master (274). From Auld s
admonitions, Douglass determines that his road to freedom is paved with words: From that
moment, I understood the pathway from slavery to freedom. [...] The very decided manner with
which he spoke [...] served to convince me that he was deeply sensible of the truths he was
uttering (275). Douglass understands that he has everything to gain from literacy, especially the
freedom that he desires above all else. His path will be difficult, though, since he will have to find
ways to teach himself to read, but it becomes a quest for him.
Does Frederick Douglass have to pay a price to become literate? He states that he [...] was
compelled to resort to various stratagems [...] to become literate and would [...] [make] friends of
all the little white boys whom I met in the street (276). He would ply them with scraps of bread
in his efforts to gain knowledge and would read while he was running errands for his master.
Later, he forges protections (307) so he and others can attempt to escape to Maryland. Ethically or
morally, does he feel even the slightest regret that he resorts to subterfuge and bribery to meet his
goals? His text is not explicit in this regard, but given his circumstances, it is obvious that the end

Computer Co. Ltd.
Casio is a consumer electronics company renowned for their inventions and contributions to
electronic engineering. While most people are familiar with Casio s trendy G Shock watches,
digital cameras, and musical instruments it can be easy to overlook the company s impressive
track record. Featuring many of the world s First including an electronic dictionary, inkjet printer,
personal calculator, and even the world s first cellphone with a built in 3.2 megapixel camera. Casio
Computer Co. LTD was first established in 1957 alongside the grand debut of its prototype compact
calculator. Since then the company has evolved throughout the years as a corporation by expanding
into subsidiary branches and competing at the cutting edge of trends.
Apple s foray into the smartwatch market made huge splashes in 2015. It was highly praised for
its intuitive features and its symbiotic affinity with iPhones. While the Apple watch may be
strong and flexible in functionality it might have drawn inspiration from one of Casio s early
projects. Forbes cites Casio s F 91W to be ahead of its time, withholding the bells and whistles of
a smartwatch, the F 91W boasted a 24 hour clock, day/date display, and alarms accompanied by
digital chiming. (Spence)
When it comes to manufacturing goods, Casio takes an interesting approach to making its products.
The company s creed is outlined by two distinct principles creativity and contribution. Many great
inventions have spawned from the R D department

Unit 17: Lead Person Centered Practice
1. Understand the theory and principles that underpin person centred practice
1.1 Explain person centred practice
Person centred practice is an approach that puts the individual at the centre of their care and
involves them in making decisions about things that affect them (Health Foundation, 2012).
By using a person centred approach individuals are empowered to be fully involved in the planning
of their care and in making decisions regarding this. There are several components of person
centred care which includes;
Recognising, and getting to know each person as an individual and being responsive to their
individual needs as well as family characteristics
Ensuring that care is provided to each individual in and a way that is meaningful to them as
individuals. Care should be provided in a way that is respectful to the individual s values,
preferences and needs
Take into account every individual s own unique biological, psychological and social needs
Promote and foster the devlopmenty of trusting care givIng relationships
Place emphasis on freedom of choice and support reasonable risk taking which is appropriate to the
individual personally
Service users should be seen as equal partners in the planning of their care with shared decision
making. Fundamentally, the aim of person cented care is personalisation and a holistic approach
should be taken. Therefore the individuals culture, ethnicity, wishes and personal

A Brief Look at Climate Change
The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases
and to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where
modeling in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with
respect to the internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climateand our capacity for designing
efficient climate adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system
consisting of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the
natural system, such as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans,
and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge.
The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear
and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve
both in the temporal and spatial dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing
economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the
uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of climate changes impact on economic productivity
(Cai et al., 2013).
The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group
on the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and
economic systems. Recent work, such as that of Cai

  • 2. Comparison Of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr And Wallace s Speech It was the was the beginning of a new decade, Americans believed the 1960 s were going to be the dawn of the golden age. Many historical feats are occurring, John Steinbeck wins a noble peace prize, Nixon and Kennedy have the first televised debate, Mohamed Ali wins a gold medal and the Civil Rights Movement is at the precipice in America. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Governor George C. Wallace are two prominent figures throughout the Civil Rights Movement. Individually, they deliver historical speeches concerning civil rights, however the dialogue encompasses completely different messages. Comparatively, the two speeches will be presented side by side using Aristotle s, Kairos, Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. The year was 1963, as the chaos of segregation was unfolding in the Southern states, Governor Wallace and Dr. King were prepared to give their speech on Civil Rights. Governor Wallace will be addressing his constituents in the beginning of the year, whereas Dr. King s response will be a few months later. With that in mind, these two speeches will be analyzed using the appropriate and pivotal moment they were delivered, also known as Kairos. January 1963, Governor Wallace is proudly standing where the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis took his oath of office. He is ready to address his fellow Americans with his inaugural speech as the newly appointed Governor of Alabama. During my time in this course we were tasked with several major assignments that were planned so we meet the student learning outcomes for the writing program. Some of these writing outcomes are 1.) Students use the writing process to compose with purpose, creating multimodal texts for various audiences, and 2.) Students productively interact with their peers, often in small groups, in the reiterative processes of feedback, revision, and editing. Throughout my time in this course I not only had a satisfying learning experience but enjoyed my time in Professor Mills course as well. The test calls for grains of rice in two separate jars. One jar is told negative things while the other is told positive things. When professor Mills began the video I thought the experiment would not prove anything about communication. However, I was wrong. I was astonished that the experiment actually proved what it sought to show. I wanted to find a logical explanation that would show what could have caused the outcome, but was unable too. • 5. Comparing Bluebeard And Bloody Chamber In this essay I will be comparing the disturbing elements in 3 books we have read. These books are The Classic Fairy Tales edited by Maria Tatar, The Bloody Chamber by Angela Carter and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The fairy tales and the bloody chamber both are a book with individual stories in them I will be focusing on the fairytale of bluebeard and bloody chamber in The Bloody Chamber and how they relate in their disturbingness and how Lolita is very disturbing too but in a different way. Although these 3 books are a little different they all gave me the same unsettled feeling when reading them. In The Classic Fairy Tales there are a couple versions of Bluebeard , I am going to focus on the Perrault version. In this fairytale there is a man who lives in a giant house and has a wife, after a while of being married he needs to travel for business and he tells his wife to explore the house and gives her a set of keys to explore the house but tells her that there is a small door at the end of a hall way that she cannot open, and if she does then he will get very angry at her. • 7. Pros And Cons Of No-Platforming In Thomas Hobbes s famous work, The Leviathan he created his famous social contract theory , that states individuals will need to give up some of their own personal autonomy to ensure the security of the state. Looking at this social contract as a spectrum, with security on one end and liberty on the other, one must find a balance between the two. In 2017 there are still on going debates where people want their society to fall on that spectrum, some would rather have more liberty and others more security. In 2016 the Free Speech Debateput out a video debating whether no platforming should be practised at universities. No platforming can be defined a strategy that argues that certain peoples should not be given a platform to speak in a certain social space due to their rhetoric constituting hate speech . Both sides of the debate, the pro no platforming and the anti no platforming teams, gave great points on how serious this issue is, and that there can be real life benefits and consequences on either side of the debate. Pro No Platforming The main argument of No Platforming is that there is an unfair power dynamic at play. A platform gives speakers a medium to amplify their message without having to debate against protestors; this unfair as it gives those already in power, that have the resources to platform, an advantage in that they have a greater ability to get their point across, creating a cycle that perpetuates the dominant group of societies message and ... • 8. The Impact Of Advancements Of Robotic Technology Essay Abstract The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of the advancements of robotic technology in libraries. It provides a literature based background on the general state of robotics and adds insights related to the library setting. Additionally, it looks into the factors that libraries need to consider when planning to acquire robots, including finances, staff and technical knowledge, space and charging facilities. Finally, it provides a quick look at how this technology will affect both the libraries and communities. I. Introduction The concept of robots has been with humans for a long time. From the robot knight plan of Leonardo da Vinci to the automatons of Jacques de Vaucanson, to the robots created by several robotics companies, people have demonstrated a fascination. The word robot came from the Czech word, robota which means forced labor . In 1921, writer Karel Capek used it in his play entitled Rossum s Universal Robots (R.U.R.). The credit for coming up with such term, however, goes to Josef Capek, his brother. Presently, robot means a machine that performs complex actions, similar to humans or other animals; also a machine that can perform repetitive tasks, guided by automatic controls. (Shulman Buckley, 2014). Advances in technology have allowed the world to move forward in the creation of these machines for various purposes. Libraries, being both learning and cultural hubs of societies, have unique opportunities to introduce the idea of robots. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Armorer s Shop By David Teniers Conservation Study While there were several works of art that I had liked, the artwork and album finally chosen from Noelle Ocon s album for this particular study was The Armorer s Shop by David Teniers the Younger and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The goals for the study of this painting were to delve into topics such as subject matter, spectrum bands used to reveal information about the painting, and conservation efforts in general. As such, this study will start with the subject matter and style of presentation. The Armorer s Shop s medium and materials are oil paints applied to connected wood panels. Interestingly, outside of The Armorer s Shop, there is virtually no evidence that Brueghel and Teniers ever collaborated with each other (Woll.) As seen in the visible light photographs, the painting was flaking in some areas. The key issue here, however, is not necessarily the flaking paint. Instead, it is the fact there were also two barely noticeable lines that were particularly noticeable from the back of the painting. At the time of these first few pictures, The Armorer s Shop had been strictly attributed to Teniers the Younger, with no mention of Brueghel (Huskinson). The painting was first analyzed using visible light, which can only show some surface details through techniques like grazing. However, a couple of other bands of the spectrum that can be used to obtain information about the painting in question are infrared, in the form of infrared reflectography, and x ray. These were both utilized in this case to analyze The Armorer s Shop. Infrared can be used to see through the paint layers to the underdrawing and also to detect details in the painting that may have changed color since being painted ( Infrared (IR) Light. ). X ray can be used to see through the entire painting to detect its base and find possible weaknesses or damages to the painting s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. My Family s Influence On My Life The word community maintains an assortment of meanings for each of us. These meanings are composed from various life experiences within our communities. To me, my communities include my family, friends, schools, work, and the town I live in. My communities have had an influence on who I have become as a person and continue to influence me on a daily basis. As I reflect back on the past twenty years, the communitythat has had the most impact on me is my family. Now, everyone has their own definition of family. So, when I say the word family, I am referring to my mom and dad. These two people have had the most influence on my life. From the very beginning, I began to shape the person I am based on the people my parents are. I can remember spending many hours with my dad in his shop, watching him diagnose mechanical problems. Then I would watch as he took apart a machine piece by piece, only to reassemble it exactly the same way once the problem at hand was resolved. As the years progressed, I became closer with my mom, spending the majority of my time with her. I would help her around the house with everyday chores. I can remember the joy I experienced when I was able to go to work with mom. I would watch in awe at the number of tasks my mother was responsible for at one time. How she would swiftly move from one task to another, handling the many interruptions, and balancing the numerous new tasks placed on her desk each day. Spending much of my time with ... • 11. Becoming An Automotive Automaker Any time a revolutionary new technology is introduced, a period of plethoric propagation follows. It was no different during the rise of automobiles in the embryonic Twentieth Century. Up until October 24th, 1929 (Black Thursday (the stock Market Crash)), the only thing standing between an engineer and an automaker; was creativity, talent and drive. People were essentially popping out of the woodworks trying to make it inside the (mangled ) metaphoric; automotive winners cabin. The main focus was big picture: does it drive? Automakers were racing to race. Just make a car as fast as possible, and make sure it is faster than our rivals. The notion of a lemon had not been contemplated, so prospective automakers were solely interested in getting an automobile on the market. The way they saw it, as long as they did not have a product to push someone else was stealing their sales. Moreover, there was little to no product verification in the first moiety of the 1900s. Our consumer protection was the legal equivalent of no takesies backsies, so if/when patrons had problems with their product the response was breviloquent at best. One cannot condemn those who genuinely did not know any better. In the early era of automakers, simply making an automobile was an act of genius. • 15. Crime Is The Nature Of Crime It is widely assumed that the media, particularly television, newspapers and the internet, are primary sources of knowledge and understanding of crime issues in our 21st century modern society (Nguyen et. al, 2005). However, there is widespread concern that the level and type of crime reported in the media produces an inaccurate view of the reality of crimein the community (Fields Jerin, 1996; Windschuttle, 1988). The purpose of this essay is to address the question; is the nature of crime in our society accurately presented in the media? To effectively provide an answer, a discussion on public perceptions, crime statistics and the impact of crime reporting in the media will commence. Following will be a conclusion that will state that the nature of crime in our society is not accurately presented in the media. There has been extensive research comparing the nature of crime in the media with the nature of crime in reality with most evaluations concluding that the media greatly distorts or misrepresents not only the nature of crime but also crime rates, typical victims and typical offenders (Hayes and Prenzler, 2015). Often, this research draws upon official crime statistics which have consistently shown that most crime is non violent and not rising (Davis Dossetor, 2010) which is oppositional to the media s portrayal (Garofalo, 1981). Even so, public perceptions continue to emanate a reflection of the media s influence as Davis Dossetor (2010) highlight through a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are some standard elements of teenage life here, including young love, and some degree of rebellion from ones parents, in this case King Triton, Ariel s father. It was not Ariel s physical beauty that the Prince loved, but her voice. He is enraptured by the voice even in the presence of Ariel s physical beauty and great legs. The metaphor here should be obvious. What does a woman lose when she becomes subservient to a man, or male dominated culture in general? She loses her voice. The point of the movie is that a young woman s beauty should come not from her physical attributes, but from her voice, her personality, her self. Metaphorically, without her voice in society, she is pretty helpless and powerless to change what s going on around her, explain herself, etc. As for the prince he isn t interested in Ariel just for her looks. It is also important to note that she gets her reward only after working together with her father, King Triton. In the original version The Little Mermaid, longing for the prince and an eternal soul, eventually visits the Sea Witch, who sells her a potion that gives her legs, in exchange for her tongue. It s generally agreed that the development and use of integrated healthcare systems are becoming an absolute necessity to support the delivery of low cost, high quality care [1]. To achieve this goal; Planning of Information System is one of the most significant activities for Information System attainment in a large organization. This paper presents the information systems integration plan for Hospitals operating under the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK). The main objective of the System integration is to specify techniques to link all databases of different sub systems in DHSK so that the information interchange between the sub systems is seamless. The plan shall be accomplished by applying the methodology consisting of four steps: requirement analysis, conceptual design, systems architecture design and system implementation. As the results of design, the databases shall definitely share many identical data items. The presence of identical data items will allow the information update in batch processing and will facilitate to design a common physical layer. Thus, a common XML based database implementation along with shared assemblies is recommended to implement the databases with identical data items, whereas, private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If someone like that were to be in charge of a large group of people and not know if someone could be missing is not a good way to be leader. That s why being disciplined on it early in your career is important. I understand. • 21. Exploring The Potential For Addiction On line gaming has grown a great deal in the last decade, connecting players in countries around the world. World of Warcraft is perhaps the best known massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG). These games are incredibly immersive and generally have no real ending, with players able to continue the game indefinitely via expansions and new content being added. A pilot study by Hussain and Griffiths (2009) set out to explore the potential for addictionto an MMORPG, within its psychological and psychosocial effects on players. Generally, studies of MMORPGs have not had a specific focus on addiction or the psychology of on line gaming (as cited in Hussain Griffiths, 2009). At the time of their study, it was estimated that there were five million online gamers worldwide (as cited in Hussain Griffiths, 2009). According to the statistical analysis site Statista, as of 2013 approximately 144.9 million people worldwide are active daily players of online games, an increase of almost 3000 percent. Hussain and Griffiths note that playing an MMORPG can become an escape from a player s real life, and a substitute for the social interactions involved in reality. Therefore, the importance of studying MMORPG s potential for addiction, and research regarding possible pathology, is even more relevant. Hussain and Griffiths explored two hypotheses: (1) assess the impact of online gaming on the lives of gamers, the independent variable being online gaming, the dependent, ... As we approach Nietzsche s philosophy within the text, we must first begin by adopting the principle of the will to power as the fundamental drive of all things. The principle of the will to power states that everything must obey something, and if one cannot obey oneself, one must obey someone else. Those who can transcend and command themselves then, according to Nietzsche, are the sole carriers of true freedom. The will to power for Nietzsche is not simply the desire for power or even something that one could choose to have or not, but is rather a characteristic of everything that lives. Such is observable through the human history of interaction but the will to power must not only be applied to human beings since ideas like religion, morality, and truth are also prevailing concepts that are all positioned in the alike struggle that dictates life. The question is not whether one should have the will to power or not, but rather what quality of will to power shall manifest. A negation of absolutes, then, is an observable theme throughout Thus Spoke Zarathustra, as Nietzsche depicts our world and all within it as characterized by the constant struggling and overcoming of prearranged influences. Kay and Gonzales also mention that the Aztecs settle their empire on Tenochtitlan because their god Huitzilopochtli sent an eagle sitting on a cactus to indicate where they should build their new home, which end being in the center of Mexico and they ended calling it Tenochtitlan. In addition to this, they also mention that Huitzilopochtli was the Aztec war god, because of his many fights... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. The Crisis Center For South Suburbia Essay This past week at the Crisis Center for South Suburbia was not as eventful as the past two weeks. The clients that were causing frequent verbal altercations have either exited on their own, exited involuntarily, or been given a written warning in which they are following the conditions of. I now have only one client on my caseload, since the other had voluntarily exited herself and her son. On Monday, 10/31/16, I was able to help the children in shelter celebrate Halloween. We set up trick or treating spots throughout the shelter and I also was able to handout treat bags that were donated to the shelter. The kids seemed to have some fun with the little celebration we were able to give to them. Also on that day, I worked my first evening shift. The evening definitely has a lot more activity since most clients are back from work or other commitments during the day. During this time, it was just myself and D working. In the midst of all the activity, we had a medical emergency that I was able to respond to. Tiffany* had been discharged from hospital with the understanding that she had a mild heart attack and would need to have a stent put in later. Upon arriving back from the shelter, something was just not right with her. Myself along with another client, observed her in the kitchen staring at the counter without moving for around five minutes. When she finally seemed to snap out of whatever was going on, she tried to walk away but was stumbling and almost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is it is a true or false statement? Clearly explain your answer in a short paragraph. (5 points) False, the scientific method is limited to those phenomena which can be observed or measured. Due to the need to have completely controlled experiments to test a hypothesis, science cannot prove everything. Science is meant to give us a better understanding of the mysteries of the natural world. So with that being said science is good at explaining how things work but not necessarily for explaining why do such things exist or for what purpose . 2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Describe what you understand by independent variable and dependent variable in a scientific study? ( 5 points) An independent variable is something you have control over, what you can choose and manipulate. It is a variable that stands alone and doesn t change by other variables. Although in some cases, you may not be able to manipulate the independent variable. It could be already there and or fixed. A dependent variable is the variable that s being tested in an experiment. If the experimenter changes the independent variable, the change in the dependent variable is observed and recorded. For example a scientist is testing the effect of light and dark on the behavior of moths by turning a light on and off. The independent variable is the amount of light and the moth s reaction is dependent variable. A change in the independent variable (amount of light) directly causes a change in the dependent variable (moth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Theme Of Lust In Canto V Of Dante s Inferno As Dante, the pilgrim, makes his way through the second circle of hell in Canto V of Dante s Inferno, he comes across the lustful. Lust is a very strong sexual desire. Having the desire to have sex is not a sin, but it becomes sinful when the desire is defected. This means, if the sexual desire is out of context such as desiring another married man or woman, it then becomes a sin. In Dante s Inferno, Francesca da Riminitells a story of her and Paolo Malatesta and how lust and adultery lead to their deaths. For the first time in Hell, Dante feels pity for a soul and I believe he reacts this way to her story because he puts himself in their shoes and feels their pain. Dante empathizes with Francesca because this is now her eternal fate. While making their way through, Dante asks Virgil to speak with the two doves who seem to be left by themselves. They are Francesca and Paolo. Francesca beings to tell Dante why they are there in Hell. Francesca, was married to Giovanni Malatesta when she and his brother, Paolo, were reading Lancelot and shared a kiss because the words of the book set the mood. While kissing, her husband, his brother, Giovanni walked in and killed the two. Before Francesca finishes the story, Dante begins to cry because he is so sympathetic to the lovers. Then I turned to them again to speak and I begun: Francesca, your torments make me weep for grief and pity, but tell me, in that season of sweet sighs, how and by what signs did Love acquaint you with your hesitant desire? (Canto 5.115 120). Dante expresses this to show how sorry for her or for them he feels. In another sense, I feel as Francesca kind of manipulates him in her language. The way Francesca speaks in my opinion is someone of charismatic. She tells Dante the story in a way she never blames herself, but she blames love and the book for her wrong doings. For example, Love, quick to kindle in the gentle heart, seized this man with the fair form taken from me. The way of it afflicts me still. Love, which absolves no one beloved from loving, seized me so strongly with his charm that, as you see, it has not left me yet. Love brought us to one death. (Canto 5.100 106). Francesca simply blames the adultery her and Paolo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Space Race Pros And Cons SOCIAL WHEELS AND SPACE RACES When we talk about recent innovation, social change, industrial change, what pops into most of our heads is space technology . Gps systems, wifi, the moon landing, and probes all fall into this category. But how did all these interstellar wonders appear into our everyday life? What pushed our civilization to expand out tech beyond the sky. The answer to that starts with politics. To be more exact, a nazi v2 rocket project late in WW2. Although it wasn t a very effective weapon, it brought the idea of a space technological evolution .The USSR and the US governments captured the German science team after the war for their own projects. Both nations pooled money into this new found area of advancement, resulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The explorer was a huge step for the states, their first man made object in space. And what did Russia do to maintain their technological dominance? Shortly after the American success, the USSR launched the first man armed mission, and made Yuri Gagarin the first to bask in the interstellar glory of outer space. And not soon after, the USSR buried the dagger even deeper with a couple more Russians waving the red flag in outer space. The US barely catching up, launched into space. The states can thank Kennedy for their first lead on Russia, as he announced the goal of sending an American to the moon. As we all know now, NASAdelivered the Americans their leading point when Neil Armstrong first stepped on the moon. From the point of view of other countries, it would make much more sense if both superpowers worked together, instead of childish symbolic projects. Not only were these experiments expensive, they were also quite dangerous. As US and USSR relations got better, the space race slowly came to an end. That officially happened when space stations from both countries docked, and astronauts from both ends of the race shook hands and shared gifts. This iconic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Literacy in African-American Literature Levels of Literacy in African American Literature Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Song of Solomon, and Push Through literacy will come emancipation. So runs a theme throughout the various selections we have read thus far. But emancipation comes in many forms, as does literacy. The various aspectsof academic literacy are rather obvious in relation to emancipation, especially when one is confronted with exclusion from membership in the dominant culture. In the various slave narratives we have examined, all but one writer, Mary Prince, managed to achieve academic literacy to varying degrees (although, Mary Prince was in the process of learning to read and write). And even though she was not literate, Mary was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Auld s reasoning is that being able to read would [...] forever unfit him [Douglass] to be a slave. He would at once become unmanageable, and of no value to his master (274). From Auld s admonitions, Douglass determines that his road to freedom is paved with words: From that moment, I understood the pathway from slavery to freedom. [...] The very decided manner with which he spoke [...] served to convince me that he was deeply sensible of the truths he was uttering (275). Douglass understands that he has everything to gain from literacy, especially the freedom that he desires above all else. His path will be difficult, though, since he will have to find ways to teach himself to read, but it becomes a quest for him. Does Frederick Douglass have to pay a price to become literate? • 47. Unit 17 Lead Person Centred Practice Charlotte Jones Unit 17: Lead Person Centered Practice 1. Understand the theory and principles that underpin person centred practice 1.1 Explain person centred practice Person centred practice is an approach that puts the individual at the centre of their care and involves them in making decisions about things that affect them (Health Foundation, 2012). By using a person centred approach individuals are empowered to be fully involved in the planning of their care and in making decisions regarding this. There are several components of person centred care which includes; Recognising, and getting to know each person as an individual and being responsive to their individual needs as well as family characteristics Ensuring that care is provided to each individual in and a way that is meaningful to them as individuals. Care should be provided in a way that is respectful to the individual s values, preferences and needs Take into account every individual s own unique biological, psychological and social needs Promote and foster the devlopmenty of trusting care givIng relationships Place emphasis on freedom of choice and support reasonable risk taking which is appropriate to the individual personally Service users should be seen as equal partners in the planning of their care with shared decision making. • 48. A Brief Look at Climate Change The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climateand our capacity for designing efficient climate adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of climate changes impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013). The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and economic systems.
