Social Commentary On 13 Reasons Why
Social Commentary on 13 Reasons Why In 2007, Jay Asher released the young adult novel 13
Reasons Why. It steadily gained popularity; it made the New York Times Bestseller List in 2011. In
early 2017, Netflix took off with it and produced a 13 episode series. The story follows the suicide
note (or rather, audio cassette tapes) left behind by high schooler Hannah Baker after she killed
herself. Respected social figures and celebrities quoted the show and opened discussion about topics
like depression, rape culture, bullying, and most obviously, suicide. On the thirteen tapes, Hannah
walks the audience through the events and actions that led to her taking her own life, with each tape
specifically about one of the thirteen people that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But her relationship with them doesn t seem to be one of mutual trust and communication. She
explained that when their career lives got difficult and busy, her relationship with them dwindled. She
said they talked to her, but not like before. They let their work take precedence over investing in their
daughter, and beneath their disinterest and oblivion, she fell apart. She already accepted that they aren
t her best option to address her problems; her mom didn t even notice her haircut, never mind her
emotional deterioration. 13 Reasons Why exhibits uninvolved parenting and the way it can impact, or
rather, not impact, teens lives.
Additionally, Hannah only utilized the authorities in the school (to whom youth facing issues like hers
are encouraged to come to) as a last resort, after she had already decided to take her own life. As
previously mentioned, she went to talk to Mr. Porter, her guidance counselor at school, in search of
one last glimmer of hope. She discussed with him the sexual assault she suffered, among other
hardships, and her desire to end her life. His response painfully disappointed her. He essentially told
her that getting over it may be her best option, and she left agitated. She hoped he would follow and
not let her go, realizing she was serious about suicide, but he didn t. Along the same lines as

The Lives Of Animals ( 1999 )
In The Lives of Animals (1999), a metafictional novella about animal right by the South African
novelist J.M. Coetzee, the author posits through his character representative, Elizabeth Costello, that
animals are not believers in ecology (Coetzee 151). We are told to believe based on the previous
ruminations of Costello, who outlines early in part I The Philosophers and the Animals section that
animals do not possess reason, and as a result, animals cannot hope to comprehend the way in which
the complex ecosystems that are present in the study of ecology in any meaningful way (Coetzee 137).
This claim is important to Costello in that it is the very foundation of everything else she argues
within her debate, as she cites that to approach the ethics of the animal rights argument from any
spectrum of our understanding of reason is to do so from a flawed point of view, as animals do not
possess reason and therefore cannot be judged and evaluated under that system fairly, or even at all.
While Costello s claims certainly present an interesting point, they are troubling and ultimately flawed
in their approach. I strongly disagree with Costello s claim that animal are not believers in ecology
because she is wholly enamoured with the idea of reason being an impossible judge of animal rights,
going so far as to say that if reason is all she shares with her philosophical opponents, then she has no
use for it (Coetzee 133). However, through Costello s assumption that she can speak

Impact Of Industrialization
Impact of Industrialization on American Society
Reese Aghayedo
HISTORY 1312 701: United Stated History II
September 11, 2017
During late 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, the United States went through rapid
industrialization that drastically changed many aspects of its society. During this era, the United States
became the leading industrial capitalist of the world . This also led to tremendous increase in demand
for the working class Americans. Also, advancement in farm machinery led to less need for manual
labors in farms and rural areas. Thus, these rural workers began to migrate to the urban areas to seek
job opportunities in industries such as manufacturing and other factory jobs. This influx of ... Show

For this reason, many workers opted to have their children and wives join the workforce. Given that
these factory owners had no legal restrictions on exploiting workers, they exploited most of their
workers. Worker were force to work long hours in a dehumanizing environment while earning poor
pay and incentives . Women and children were also exploited. Woman and children were paid the
lowest possible wages. It didn t matter if they worked more than their adult male counterparts.
Management used the deceptive ideology that woman and children should be under the care of a man
and do not require a living wage. In addition to low wages and long hours, many workers worked in a
dangerous environment. Many worked in crowded and unsanitary conditions. As a result thousands of
workers were injured and hundreds were killed each year .
Also, Industrialization resulted to the revolt of the working class Americans. As many workers became
more concern about their working conditions and pay, they decided to join together to rebel against
hash working conditions. As many industrial workers began to organize, this led to the formation of
labor unions. The goal of these unions was to protect worker s right to fair pay, hours, and working
conditions. Labor groups like the National Labor Union (NLU) and Knights of Labor began to open
up their membership to all labors, including male, female, blacks, and whites. Labors were able to

Marketing in the Global Economy
Marketing in the Global Economy Marlene Garay AIU Online Abstract In today s world of constant
change and technological advancements, it is imperative that marketers stay up to date and ready to
tackle and challenges. Companies are battling neck to neck in order to make sure the products they
offer are available and in the consumers mind. Not only do they have to be concerned about the local
target audience. Now the reach is worldwide and the target audience can be a eclectic mix of races and
cultures that demand the same product in many different ways. So the challenge faced by marketers is
how to satisfy that audience. Looking a various examples, it is clear that while this is an attainable
goal, it is not easy. Marketers can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, management at Starbucks saw a perfect opportunity to go into a market that had not been
tapped into yet. With that in mind, they decided to add products to their menu that were not available
to the American market and that catered specifically to the local culture. In addition they expanded
their line of tea. By associating with a local company, they penetrated the Hong Kong market with
great success. More recently, the Swedish retail chain, H amp;M launched a campaign for their new
product line and found that some of the pictures in their campaign were too revealing for the Dubai
market. In order to overcome that issue, some of the photos were photo shopped to cover arms and a
hint of cleavage. By adding a t shirt under a tank top and sleeves to a turtle neck, they avoided any
negative imaging and were able to introduce the same product to a different market (London, 2011).
Before global economy became an issue, it was common in the U.S. to see a campaign for a product
done exactly the same no matter where it was. Companies assumed that the message was the same
therefore, why change it? However, when promoting a product to different audiences, it should not be
an assumption that the message will be interpreted the same way, especially if that message is going
worldwide. So in this day and age where technology has such a big influence in what we do, how does
it support the change in

Is Multitasking A Learning By Disrupting The Encoding Of...
In this experiment, Sana, Weston, and Cepeda grounded their research questions in previously
conducted research on the topics of divided attention and dual task interference. It had been
demonstrated in these earlier studies that multitasking obstructs learning by disrupting the encoding of
new material. It was theorized that these errors in information processing inevitably occur because our
cognitive resources are finite and easily overtaxed by multiple, simultaneous tasks. Besides resulting
in poorer encoding of information into one s long term memory, it was also noted that comprehension
and course performance significantly decline among multitaskers. What more, there was evidence that
the attention of other, non multitasking students may be accosted by the mere proximity of a
multitasking individual. Bearing all of this in mind, the researchers of the current study formulated
two hypotheses. The first hypothesis was that multitasking computer users would score lower on
measures of comprehension than non multitasking, computer users. The second hypothesis was that
participants who were within view of multitaskers would score lower on measures of comprehension
than their peers who did not have computer multitaskers within their line of sight. The conceptual
independent variable for study one was multitasking while the dependent variable was comprehension.
Likewise, the conceptual independent variable for study two was the visibility of multitasking while

Comparison And Contrast Of The Shepherd And The Nymph
Christopher Blake Martinez Mrs. Doorway Shepherd Nymph Essay 27 September 2017 Comparison
and Contrast of The Shepherd The Nymphs A comparison and contrast of The Passionate Shepherd to
His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd reveal that these poems both have different
viewpoints on love, nature, time and the material world. In this essay, I will be presenting how the
Shepherd and the Nymph both have totally different views on love, nature, time and the material
world. In the two poems, the shepherd and the nymph both have distinctly opposing views of love.
talks about love. The shepherd believes that love will never die. He thinks that love will live forever
and will always be pure and young. An example of this is seen in ¨For thy delight each May morning
(line 22.) He is offering his love, and saying that he will always show and prove his love to her. In the
¨Nymph s reply¨ she says that she doesn t believe that the shepherd thinks about life and how as life
goes on you will lose love for someone, it may be that you love them, but you re not in love with them
the life you were when your journey first began. She knows and understands how feelings and love
will die out. It shows in ¨If all the world and love were young¨(line 1). In both of the poems, both the
shepherd and the nymph have distinctly opposing views of nature. The shepherd loves the nature and
how beautiful it is, he believes that nature will always be beautiful. He promises her a bed of roses and
a life of enjoying nature to its fullest. He shows this in ¨And we will have the pleasures prove, That
valleys, groves, hills, and fields. Woods, or steepy mountains yields.¨(lines 1 4). In the ¨nymph s
reply¨ she says how the shepherd may promise all of this from nature, but she understands that nature
isn t always beautiful and nature dies. Things in nature will only last for a little while, then they die
and new are born again. She says this in ¨The flowers do fade, and wanton fields¨(line 9). In these
poems, the shepherd and the nymph have different views on time. The shepherd thinks that time will
never move and time is always going to be good and not ever be a bad time in your life. He shows this
in ¨And we will all the pleasures

Advice For First Writing Course At The University Of...
Advice to First Writing Course at the University of Central Florida
Writing courses can be challenging and that is why I decided to write this personal narrative. I believe
that a personal narrative is better for an advice column than a research paper. A personal narrative
would give more personal experience and insight on how the course was. It would be more valid since
it is true. I think people learn better when they read and hear something from the person they are
talking to rather than being about other people, especially when it comes to advice.
English courses, just like any core class, expects a lot from the students. ENC 1101 is the first english
and writing class students will encounter when first starting undergraduate school ... Show more

They can properly quote it or paraphrase it using MLA format. This will demonstrate the student using
strategies to better comprehend difficult texts. Students should also learn to adapt to different writing
contexts. Throughout this course, I had to learn new vocabulary such as rhetorical situation and
discourse community. These are actually types of essays I had to write during this course. When
writing these types of essays, one has to keep in mind their audiences and their own experience.
Lastly, students will consider how social, rhetorical, and technological contexts shape writing because
it reflects sensitivity to school writing as a social affair (McCarthy 231).
There are some constraints that I had to think about when deciding the genre of this paper. One
constraint to this personal narrative is the time I took this course. I took ENC 1101 during the Summer
B section. Summer B was only six weeks long and I had to learn the concepts of this course in that
amount of time when it usually takes around sixteen weeks. This made the course much harder for me
and other students. Especially because English is my second language, it takes me longer to read and
analyze articles. This was also one out of two of my first classes as a college students. It is a different
environment and I had to adapt to different situations and expectations. Another constraint is about
those students that already have credit for ENC

Taking a Look at Lewis Carroll
Lewis Carroll was born on January 27, 1832, as Charles Lutwidge Dodgson to a family of workers in
the army and Church (and a whole family full of Charles ). His great grandfather, also Charles
Dodgson, had been a bishop. His grandfather, another Charles Dodgson, had been an army captain and
ended up being killed in battle, leaving two children behind. The elder son, Charles, went to
Westminster and then Oxford. This Charles married his cousin in 1827 and became a country parson.
Out of this marriage came yet another Charles. Our Charles, who came to use the penname of Lewis
Carroll (and, gee, I wonder why). He was the third of eleven children who, remarkably, all lived to
adulthood. The first years of his education were spent at home and consisted of reading materials and
progressing at his own rate. By the age of seven, he was reading The Pilgrim s Progress. It s been said
that he was originally left handed but was forced to adapt to use his right hand, which was not an
uncommon practice at the time. There is no evidence of such a thing happening, though, nor of the
trauma it supposedly caused a young Carroll (VictorianWeb). He began attending Oxford in 1851.
After attending the school for two days, however, he was called home due to his mother s death.
Young Charles didn t let her death distract too much from his path at Oxford. He did not always give
his best or work his hardest in his academic career, but he was an exceptionally gifted student and

sample of the study consisted of 85 respondents working in the private sector of Pakistan. A total of 21
companies were visited for this purpose. It was hypothesized that individuals having self esteem will
also have high achievement. Two scales were used to measure self esteem and achievement. Self
esteem scale comprised of 13 items and the achievement scale also comprised of 13 items measured
on 6 components of achievement. Both questionnaires were given to each subject and analyzed
afterwards. The results indicated that those subjects scoring high on self esteem scale also scored high

Rosenberg (1979) viewed the self as made up of 2 elements, identity which represents cognitive
variables and self esteem which represents the affective variables.
Self esteem is operationally defined as:
Individual s feelings about his or her worth as a person, derived from the evaluation of various salient
dimensions of the self, namely psychological, social and physical or any other (Rifai, 1999).
Types of Self esteem
Korman (1986) suggests three types of self esteem. They are:
Chronic Self esteem
This type is defined as a relatively persistent personality trait or dispositional state that occurs
consistently across various situations. This self esteem is a result of past experiences and focuses on
one s competencies. An individual s confidence in his/her competencies directs the individual into
situations which require the use of those competencies.
Task Specific Self esteem
Task specific self esteem is one s self perception of his/her competence concerning a particular task or
job. This type of self esteem is the result of feedback, which comes directly from the observation of he
results of one s efforts.
Socially Influenced Self esteem
This type of self esteem is a function of the expectations of others. It results from communication or
feedback from reference group members or society as a whole, concerning the value of identity and
the individual s ability to meet the expectations of the reference groups and/or the society as a whole.

Christianity, Christianity And The Teachings Of Christianity
Christianity has specific teachings within its religion that all christians practice. Christians believe in
the Trinity which is the Father, Son, and the Holy spirit. God is the father, son is Jesus, and the holy
spirit is a spirit. Another teaching of Christianity is that christian life is marked by baptism. Baptism is
when christians are submerged in water or water is sprinkled over their head and it symbolizes
purification. They practice this teaching because they believe that it is a way of recognizing that Jesus
died for their sins, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead. Christians also teach that the Bible is
the word of God and they believe in the Bible and what the Bible says. Islam teaches The Five Pillars
of Islam. The Five Pillars of Islam are Faith, Prayer, Charity, Fasting, and Pilgrimage. Faith is the
belief of one god, Prayer is praying five times a day, Charity is giving or donating to those in need,
Fasting is only eating after sunset to sunrise for a whole month, and Pilgrimage is the journey to
Mecca. The Five Pillars of Islam are practiced by every Muslim. Another teaching within Islam is that
they all believe in one god who is named Allah. The last teaching is that Muhammad who was the last
prophet of their god Allah is the messiah, which means Muhammad is their messenger of god.
Monotheism is believing in only one god. Both Christianity and Islam are Monotheistic religions and
believe in the same god. They are also similar because

The Hazards Of The Abandoned Mining
Abandoned Mining
This hazard is important because rain, snow or wind will move materials from the abandoned place
and would contaminate aquifers through their recharge zone. It is important to first solve the use and
dispose of chemical elements exposed in a mine before abandoning it.
Ore deposits
Very often, the presence of certain elements, such as mercury, arsenic or radioactive elements, are
concentrated in an area close to the aquifers and represent a hazard. When drilling claystone is easy to
find high emissions of radiation and it is possible to read it through electrical registers inside the well
like Gamma Ray, Spontaneous Potential, and Resistivity.

It is the authorities competency to authorize the industry activities. Villa Pinzon, Cundinamarca, a

industry used to use titanium to improve its manufacturing processes; after the process was finished,
the water used was poured to the Bogota River, contaminating the river s water. There are aquifers that
recharge from the Bogota River s water.
Agriculture
If the agriculture industry has advanced technological methods, that itself is a hazard for aquifers
because the water used in the process could be contaminated with chemical products such as
pesticides, insecticides or organic residues and after could go to the recharge zone for one or more
aquifers. Discriminated fumigation with glyphosate to eradicate illegal plantations contaminates
stream waters which could contaminate aquifers through recharge zones.
Over exploitation
Aquifers have a recharge area and a discharge limit, both dependent on the natural hydrogeological
and hydrological conditions. These conditions are based on the aquifers geometry, extension and rock
type among other characteristics. When the pumping amount overrides the limit and the recharge area
is not providing enough water to supply, there is a risk of overexploitation and contamination of the
aquifer.

reconciliation and learn that there are far more important things in life than revenge and holding a

The Following Treatment Plan Will Look At The Jarrett...
The following treatment plan will look at the Jarrett family, an upper class family that struggles with
the death of the oldest son, Buck. After the last harsh confrontation with her husband (Calvin), Beth
decided to run away to Houston and leave the family. Without knowing if Beth wants to come back,
Calvin and Conrad join therapy to face this delicate situation. By considering this information, our
treatment plan will look at their family dynamics from three theoretical perspectives: Bowenian family
therapy, Structural Family therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy.
Step 1: Select a Problem List
Calvin and Conrad express their concerns in term of lack of relationship with Beth. Conrad thinks he
is responsible and guilty in regarding of her mother s decision to leave to Texas. He also blames her
mother to be neglectful, hostile, and coward. Besides, Conrad mentions that he is unable to re
establish friendships with Joe, Kevin, and other members of the swimming team.
Calvin thinks that Beth s unwillingness to come back and join them in therapy is a threat to their
relationship. He describes himself as powerless and abandoned by her. Also, Calvin is worried about
Conrad well being. He believes Conrad is too sensitive and does not want he blames himself as the
reason for the marriage crisis.
Behind the communication barrier with Beth, there are hidden problems. Conrad is still dealing with
many side effects of Buck s death, such as constant guilt, anger, and

Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality
Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few hours of my day, nor
is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since the early days of my youth, I used to
imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss with myself what I have learned, directing questions and
trying to extract answers. Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in explaining the targeted
topics, but also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became clear to me; I know that I
understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become my way of dealing with any
subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a personal challenge, and do my best
to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This has become my basic contribution in teaching, to
dismantle any complex topic to its simplest elements, so that students do not face any problem in
dealing with it; that is in discussing, analysing, and understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas
into simpler equivalents is such an arduous task that requires time and effort, but I chose this it as my
method in teaching, because I believe that it is the students right to get clear ideas, not a confused set
of thoughts. Apart from my personal inclinations, my teaching experience has provided me with a
good opportunity to deal with students from diverse backgrounds, and to explore different teaching
methods with them. As a lecturer at Cairo University, I have gained

Social Animal Paper
Dolphins are highly social animals that travel in schools. It makes sense that they would sometimes
forage as a cooperative group. Several species have been observed to be group foragers. Some of these
species include spotted dolphins, Clymene dolphins, and bottlenose dolphins. The species most
associated with group foraging has been the dusky dolphin. Scientists have been trying to determine
how many dolphins actually forage in groups, and how they do it. It is hard to concretely determine
these, because quite a bit of foraging takes place under water. Scientists are still trying to fully
understand how these complex animals work.
Foraging is defined as feeding and all behaviors associated with it (Dugatkin 2014). There are many
different theories that researchers have used to show how foraging works. In a study about foraging in
groups, researchers Krause and Ruxton found that increasing foraging group size increases the amount
of food each forager receives (Dugatkin). This may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was observed that dusky dolphins traveled in groups of 6 15 individuals. 20 30 of these small groups
may be in a 100 square km area. These small groups suddenly stop moving when a school of fish is
seen. Dolphins begin swimming around and underneath the school. They also leap at the sides of the
school. Observations show that the group of dolphins herd the fish to the surface so they cannot
escape. While the other dolphins maintain the bubble, one individual at a time will break ranks and
collect up to five anchovies. They will then join back into the barrier and another dolphin will take its
chance to eat. It was also observed that the group of dolphins did not feed for a long time. The average
time spent feeding on one group was five minutes. Eventually that school of fish will escape and the
group will move on and begin to hunt for some more fish for several

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Youtube
If a certain individual were to interrogate a select person about what they do during their free time,
their answer would probably be something between the lines of using the internet and anything else
related to it, because let s face it, our race has evolved into a technology dependent specie. The rise of
the internet has given way to more opportunities especially in the entertainment category which
resulted in more people turning to the internet and away from TV and movies. According to the 2011
Edelman Value, Engagement and Trust in the Era of Social Entertainment Survey, 56% of U.S.
citizens agreed that they frequently accessed the internet more than several years ago and 49% use it
just for the purpose of passing time. Not only are their interests shifting from traditional forms of
entertainment to digital media, but 68% claim that entertainment quality has spiraled down and doesn

The Pros And Cons Of Spaying And Neutering
Spaying and Neutering
Spaying and neutering a cat or dog is an important and responsible thing to do. Spaying or neutering
refers to a surgical procedure to render a dog or cat unable to produce litters of puppies or kittens (
What is Spay/Neuter? ) . Spaying and neutering are surgeries performed by a veterinarian removing
the reproductive organs. Spay and neuters are the most commonly performed animal surgeries. There
are many advantages to spaying or neutering an animal. There are also common misconceptions of
these surgeries.
Spaying a pet is the surgical removal of the reproductive organs. In female, an ovariohysterectomy, or
spay, is the removal of the uterus, uterine tubes, and ovaries ( Spaying Your Cat or Dog ). Spaying is
considered a routine abdominal surgery. The animal will be placed under general anesthesia, and
recovery is usually prompt. Spayed females will no longer have estrus cycles and will no longer be
able to reproduce.
Neutering refers to the removal of both testicles from the scrotum through a small incision ( What is
Spay/Neuter? ). Neutering is also known as castration. A neutered male cat or dog is no longer capable
of reproducing. Animals tend to recover quicker from a neuter rather than a spay because it is less
invasive (Tobiassen Crosby 1). Some male cats or dogs may be
Rink 2 cryptorchid, which is a birth defect where the testicle doesn t migrate into the scrotum. It is
important that cyrptochid cats or dogs do not reproduce. Also, due to

Women s Experience Of Postnatal Care
Statistics and data have shown that women are less satisfied with the care they receive post natal
compared to the care they receive during antenatal and throughout labour including those women who
receive caseload midwifery care (Forster et al., 2016). Thus, this assignment will focus on some
aspects of care that influence a women s experience of postnatal care and changes that can be
implemented to improve women s satisfaction with the early post natal care they receive. In addition,
there will be a discussion about the role of the midwife in providing postnatal care that will be more
satisfying for women. The first part of this essay will discuss how women feel on the postnatal ward,
focusing on interactions with their care providers and routine care. Following will be a discussion
about the physical environment of the postnatal ward and lastly, will be a discussion about the current
length of stay in the hospital and how it may be affecting the women.
Women are much less satisfied with the care the care they received during their post partum period
compared with the antenatal, labour and birth care they receive (Forster et al., 2016). A peer reviewed

Winston Churchill, he was born November 30, 1874 right in Blenheim Palace. His parents were never

The Theme Of Revenge In The Jungle Book
The Jungle Books is a series of classic stories written by famous author Rudyard Kipling. The stories
are separated into two books; The Jungle Book (1894) and The Second Jungle Book (1895) and were
first published in magazines in England in 1984 5. One may say the stories can be regarded as classic
stories told by an adult to children. They are fables where animals can talk and live in harmony
according to The Law of the Jungle . However, the stories are teaching moral lessons that are
inspirational for both adults and children. The stories contains powers that challenge The Law of the
Jungle and force the jungle animals to fight while Mowgli , the stories protagonist makes a self
discovery that changes him forever. This essay will discuss this self discovery with the theme of
revenge in the Mowgli stories in The Jungle Books.

be beneficial depending on the situation and circumstances. On one hand, revenge could make one do
things that are not good. Shere Khan was breaking the rules in The Law of the Jungle and every
animal was afraid of him because of that. He was trying to kill Mowgli by doing everything that was
necessary and was therefore alone with nobody that cared for him. However, as we have learned by
Mowgli revenge may be beneficial for some. Mowgli saved all the jungle animals from Shere Khan by
killing him, which made the jungle once again in order. Mowgli made a self discovery that in fact he

Monopoly Industry And Its Economic Effect
Monopoly Industry and its Economic Effect.
We live in a world where different economic systems exist and its existence is can create balances or
imbalances in the economical arena. These economic system can be characterized as Laissez faire
economy, command economy and a mixed economy, implemented by each state. Within those
segments of economy, a country can have companies following different structures of industries in the
marketplace with distinctive levels of competitions.
To understand how fluid a country s economy can be, it would be wise to understand a bit more about
the types of industries involved here. An industry can be described in four types; Pure competition,
monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly.

Last, but not least industry is the monopoly industry and this is the industry we will dig further in this
discussion.
Since monopolistic competition or oligopolistic market structures are the most commons in the United
States, it would be very interesting to actually analyse more of the monopolistic structure industry and
how that impacts the economy overall. In order to understand more about the monopolistic industry is
important to understand the fundamental of this industry.
In the monopolist industry only one seller sells a products and take over the control of those products.
In this industry there is no close substitutes. Its also important to understand that in order for that to
happen this firms are given exclusive protection of production by the government. Not just by the
government, but these firms can acquire their monopoly through a smart and efficient free market
production and with economies of scale.
To better have a picture of a monopoly industry, why not given examples of one major monopoly
industry in the world, the Microsoft. Not sure if there is familiar to this product, but if anyone wants to
buy its software, windows is the only choice since they are the only ones who provides it. So whether
we like windows or not, if there is need for a computer that s the only one we can buy. Another
example, nationally recognized is the U.S postal service, where there is no competition and it s

Memory is a very special thing to have, especially for the community. The people of the community

and rules. If the world s history was all erased, then many people would think that many other people
and countries would be nicer to each other. There would be no racism and no different religions. There
would also be no war. Everything in the world would just be the same. It would be better to have
individual memory and instead of collective memory because there are worse things that can happen
with collective memory. The first thing that would be better in the world is that there would be no
wars between countries and within countries. Everyone would be nice to each other and nothing
would ever happen. Countries would not even have a military because they wouldn t even have to
fight each other. If people had only their individual memory, they wouldn t care just about other
countries. The person might not like the country, but they would have their own opinion about the
country and they would not just be told what countries the people should or should like and not like. ...

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Computer Games
For budding video game players, choosing your platform for gaming is not only a bit of a challenge
financially, but also depending on your level of experience and interest in convenience. When you
take into account these three factors, and maybe a few more, it will very much decide what kind of
gamer you would like to be, or, what is best for you at the time. For some people money may not be
an issue and deciding can be relatively easy as both is an option. However, for many of us, we have to
take more time to decide. When first figuring out what direction is the best one, the initial thing many
consider before deciding between buying a console or a PC for gaming is cost. A current generation
console can cost anywhere in the range from two hundred up to around six hundred dollars. Without
advertising specific any specific brands, for some a smart phone is all you need to play simple games.
However, smart phone games are usually very casual and filled with advertisement spam. Handheld
portable consoles have superior games to smart phones, yet can still be quite casual when compared to
full scale console home systems. Unfortunately, the competition when it comes to consoles is very
strong and you find a lot of video games become exclusive to those systems. This can be very
frustrating when a very good game comes out on the console you don t own. On a consumer level, the
savings alone more than justify the potential extra outlay or occasional graphics card upgrade. For the

Analysis Of The Lansdowne Athlete By Lysippos
Ancient sculptures bring on endless philosophical arguments regarding what is an appropriate form of
perfection, defined as a fit body guided by a keen mind. This paper will approach a visual essence of
the sculpture of The Lansdowne Athlete, by Lysippos, Rome 340 330 B.C. marble after a bronze
original, that I viewed at the LACMA. This sculpture is located in the left wing of Greek exhibition
Building, 3rd floor. I selected this sculpture as an example of an idealized body. Therefore, I will be
explaining the historical background of the sculpture and address why I think it would make a good
addition to our text. I will provide an analogy with other sculpture of idealized body from our
textbook chapter 12 on Mind and Body mainly. I will impart more information about the essence of
idealized human form as well as cultural ideals during this time period in Greece.
The Lansdowne Athlete at the LACMA is an example of a well developed ideal body and carefully
controlled proportions to all body parts. This sculpture is a Roman copy of an original by Lysippos
made in the 1st century. It is a marble statue of 75 inches in height. The figure is in the contrapposto
stance common of the style at the time and is taking a step forward. The figure still has integrity even
though it has a few missing parts. Its face, which is important, is more or less intact and the standing
upright with its impression of movement still visible. The missing arms, if they were restored would
not add much to the sculpture and the addition of these parts will not be worth the loss of authenticity.
Visiting LACMA for many years, I never noticed that ancient art has been disbanded, I was surprised!
The Greek and Roman sculptures now stand in the galleries of European art. The ancient statues and
vases are now part of the post antique paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts of the European Art.
From my skepticism, however, I have completely converted to the curators way of thinking: the
pairing of old and new art, really works! It brings out content, form, and even artistic style that would
otherwise be lost. In the other hand, the sheer visual variety of white statues with more colorful
objects is beautiful and passionate; much more than

A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Rocket Engine Combustion Instability
Naveen Penmetsa
University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309
C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket
engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of engine
including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon engines.
Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to minimize these
variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient noise of the engine
itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these instabilities, it is important
to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the causes for each of these
oscillations.
In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which are
low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching which is a
high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different direction, due to
the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally, radially, and
transversely.
Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability
Overview
The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly
affected by the state of the flow from the inlet of the injector to the throat of

America, India, Australia, and Africa, which is where the largest part of the savanna biome is located.
Some abiotic factors in the savanna biome include weather and climate, and forest fires. Climate is
very important to the biome because if the rainfall or the temperature alters from regularity, the
animals and plants will not be able to survive. Savannas have warm temperatures year round, with a
very wet season and then a very dry season. The rainy season occurs over the summer and brings

  • 2. Social Commentary On 13 Reasons Why Social Commentary on 13 Reasons Why In 2007, Jay Asher released the young adult novel 13 Reasons Why. It steadily gained popularity; it made the New York Times Bestseller List in 2011. In early 2017, Netflix took off with it and produced a 13 episode series. The story follows the suicide note (or rather, audio cassette tapes) left behind by high schooler Hannah Baker after she killed herself. Respected social figures and celebrities quoted the show and opened discussion about topics like depression, rape culture, bullying, and most obviously, suicide. On the thirteen tapes, Hannah walks the audience through the events and actions that led to her taking her own life, with each tape specifically about one of the thirteen people that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But her relationship with them doesn t seem to be one of mutual trust and communication. She explained that when their career lives got difficult and busy, her relationship with them dwindled. She said they talked to her, but not like before. They let their work take precedence over investing in their daughter, and beneath their disinterest and oblivion, she fell apart. She already accepted that they aren t her best option to address her problems; her mom didn t even notice her haircut, never mind her emotional deterioration. 13 Reasons Why exhibits uninvolved parenting and the way it can impact, or rather, not impact, teens lives. Additionally, Hannah only utilized the authorities in the school (to whom youth facing issues like hers are encouraged to come to) as a last resort, after she had already decided to take her own life. As previously mentioned, she went to talk to Mr. Porter, her guidance counselor at school, in search of one last glimmer of hope. She discussed with him the sexual assault she suffered, among other hardships, and her desire to end her life. His response painfully disappointed her. He essentially told her that getting over it may be her best option, and she left agitated. She hoped he would follow and not let her go, realizing she was serious about suicide, but he didn t. • 3. The Lives Of Animals ( 1999 ) In The Lives of Animals (1999), a metafictional novella about animal right by the South African novelist J.M. Coetzee, the author posits through his character representative, Elizabeth Costello, that animals are not believers in ecology (Coetzee 151). We are told to believe based on the previous ruminations of Costello, who outlines early in part I The Philosophers and the Animals section that animals do not possess reason, and as a result, animals cannot hope to comprehend the way in which the complex ecosystems that are present in the study of ecology in any meaningful way (Coetzee 137). This claim is important to Costello in that it is the very foundation of everything else she argues within her debate, as she cites that to approach the ethics of the animal rights argument from any spectrum of our understanding of reason is to do so from a flawed point of view, as animals do not possess reason and therefore cannot be judged and evaluated under that system fairly, or even at all. While Costello s claims certainly present an interesting point, they are troubling and ultimately flawed in their approach. I strongly disagree with Costello s claim that animal are not believers in ecology because she is wholly enamoured with the idea of reason being an impossible judge of animal rights, going so far as to say that if reason is all she shares with her philosophical opponents, then she has no use for it (Coetzee 133). Impact Of Industrialization Impact of Industrialization on American Society Reese Aghayedo HISTORY 1312 701: United Stated History II September 11, 2017 During late 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, the United States went through rapid industrialization that drastically changed many aspects of its society. During this era, the United States became the leading industrial capitalist of the world . This also led to tremendous increase in demand for the working class Americans. Also, advancement in farm machinery led to less need for manual labors in farms and rural areas. Thus, these rural workers began to migrate to the urban areas to seek job opportunities in industries such as manufacturing and other factory jobs. This influx of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this reason, many workers opted to have their children and wives join the workforce. Given that these factory owners had no legal restrictions on exploiting workers, they exploited most of their workers. Worker were force to work long hours in a dehumanizing environment while earning poor pay and incentives . Women and children were also exploited. Woman and children were paid the lowest possible wages. It didn t matter if they worked more than their adult male counterparts. Management used the deceptive ideology that woman and children should be under the care of a man and do not require a living wage. In addition to low wages and long hours, many workers worked in a dangerous environment. Many worked in crowded and unsanitary conditions. As a result thousands of workers were injured and hundreds were killed each year . Also, Industrialization resulted to the revolt of the working class Americans. As many workers became more concern about their working conditions and pay, they decided to join together to rebel against hash working conditions. As many industrial workers began to organize, this led to the formation of labor unions. The goal of these unions was to protect worker s right to fair pay, hours, and working conditions. Labor groups like the National Labor Union (NLU) and Knights of Labor began to open up their membership to all labors, including male, female, blacks, and whites. Labors were able to ... Marketing in the Global Economy Marketing in the Global Economy Marlene Garay AIU Online Abstract In today s world of constant change and technological advancements, it is imperative that marketers stay up to date and ready to tackle and challenges. Companies are battling neck to neck in order to make sure the products they offer are available and in the consumers mind. Not only do they have to be concerned about the local target audience. Now the reach is worldwide and the target audience can be a eclectic mix of races and cultures that demand the same product in many different ways. So the challenge faced by marketers is how to satisfy that audience. Looking a various examples, it is clear that while this is an attainable goal, it is not easy. Marketers can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, management at Starbucks saw a perfect opportunity to go into a market that had not been tapped into yet. With that in mind, they decided to add products to their menu that were not available to the American market and that catered specifically to the local culture. In addition they expanded their line of tea. By associating with a local company, they penetrated the Hong Kong market with great success. More recently, the Swedish retail chain, H amp;M launched a campaign for their new product line and found that some of the pictures in their campaign were too revealing for the Dubai market. In order to overcome that issue, some of the photos were photo shopped to cover arms and a hint of cleavage. By adding a t shirt under a tank top and sleeves to a turtle neck, they avoided any negative imaging and were able to introduce the same product to a different market (London, 2011). Before global economy became an issue, it was common in the U.S. to see a campaign for a product done exactly the same no matter where it was. Companies assumed that the message was the same therefore, why change it? However, when promoting a product to different audiences, it should not be an assumption that the message will be interpreted the same way, especially if that message is going worldwide. So in this day and age where technology has such a big influence in what we do, how does it support the change in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Is Multitasking A Learning By Disrupting The Encoding Of... In this experiment, Sana, Weston, and Cepeda grounded their research questions in previously conducted research on the topics of divided attention and dual task interference. It had been demonstrated in these earlier studies that multitasking obstructs learning by disrupting the encoding of new material. It was theorized that these errors in information processing inevitably occur because our cognitive resources are finite and easily overtaxed by multiple, simultaneous tasks. Besides resulting in poorer encoding of information into one s long term memory, it was also noted that comprehension and course performance significantly decline among multitaskers. What more, there was evidence that the attention of other, non multitasking students may be accosted by the mere proximity of a multitasking individual. Bearing all of this in mind, the researchers of the current study formulated two hypotheses. The first hypothesis was that multitasking computer users would score lower on measures of comprehension than non multitasking, computer users. • 8. Comparison And Contrast Of The Shepherd And The Nymph Christopher Blake Martinez Mrs. Doorway Shepherd Nymph Essay 27 September 2017 Comparison and Contrast of The Shepherd The Nymphs A comparison and contrast of The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd reveal that these poems both have different viewpoints on love, nature, time and the material world. In this essay, I will be presenting how the Shepherd and the Nymph both have totally different views on love, nature, time and the material world. In the two poems, the shepherd and the nymph both have distinctly opposing views of love. talks about love. The shepherd believes that love will never die. He thinks that love will live forever and will always be pure and young. An example of this is seen in ¨For thy delight each May morning (line 22.) He is offering his love, and saying that he will always show and prove his love to her. In the ¨Nymph s reply¨ she says that she doesn t believe that the shepherd thinks about life and how as life goes on you will lose love for someone, it may be that you love them, but you re not in love with them the life you were when your journey first began. She knows and understands how feelings and love will die out. It shows in ¨If all the world and love were young¨(line 1). In both of the poems, both the shepherd and the nymph have distinctly opposing views of nature. The shepherd loves the nature and how beautiful it is, he believes that nature will always be beautiful. He promises her a bed of roses and a life of enjoying nature to its fullest. He shows this in ¨And we will have the pleasures prove, That valleys, groves, hills, and fields. Woods, or steepy mountains yields.¨(lines 1 4). In the ¨nymph s reply¨ she says how the shepherd may promise all of this from nature, but she understands that nature isn t always beautiful and nature dies. Things in nature will only last for a little while, then they die and new are born again. She says this in ¨The flowers do fade, and wanton fields¨(line 9). In these poems, the shepherd and the nymph have different views on time. The shepherd thinks that time will never move and time is always going to be good and not ever be a bad time in your life. He shows this in ¨And we will all the pleasures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Advice For First Writing Course At The University Of... Advice to First Writing Course at the University of Central Florida Writing courses can be challenging and that is why I decided to write this personal narrative. I believe that a personal narrative is better for an advice column than a research paper. A personal narrative would give more personal experience and insight on how the course was. It would be more valid since it is true. I think people learn better when they read and hear something from the person they are talking to rather than being about other people, especially when it comes to advice. English courses, just like any core class, expects a lot from the students. ENC 1101 is the first english and writing class students will encounter when first starting undergraduate school ... Students should also learn to adapt to different writing contexts. Throughout this course, I had to learn new vocabulary such as rhetorical situation and discourse community. These are actually types of essays I had to write during this course. When writing these types of essays, one has to keep in mind their audiences and their own experience. Lastly, students will consider how social, rhetorical, and technological contexts shape writing because it reflects sensitivity to school writing as a social affair (McCarthy 231). There are some constraints that I had to think about when deciding the genre of this paper. One constraint to this personal narrative is the time I took this course. I took ENC 1101 during the Summer B section. Summer B was only six weeks long and I had to learn the concepts of this course in that amount of time when it usually takes around sixteen weeks. This made the course much harder for me and other students. Especially because English is my second language, it takes me longer to read and analyze articles. This was also one out of two of my first classes as a college students. It is a different environment and I had to adapt to different situations and expectations. Another constraint is about those students that already have credit for ENC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Taking a Look at Lewis Carroll Lewis Carroll was born on January 27, 1832, as Charles Lutwidge Dodgson to a family of workers in the army and Church (and a whole family full of Charles ). His great grandfather, also Charles Dodgson, had been a bishop. His grandfather, another Charles Dodgson, had been an army captain and ended up being killed in battle, leaving two children behind. The elder son, Charles, went to Westminster and then Oxford. This Charles married his cousin in 1827 and became a country parson. Out of this marriage came yet another Charles. It s been said that he was originally left handed but was forced to adapt to use his right hand, which was not an uncommon practice at the time. There is no evidence of such a thing happening, though, nor of the trauma it supposedly caused a young Carroll (VictorianWeb). He began attending Oxford in 1851. After attending the school for two days, however, he was called home due to his mother s death. Young Charles didn t let her death distract too much from his path at Oxford. Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few hours of my day, nor is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since the early days of my youth, I used to imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss with myself what I have learned, directing questions and trying to extract answers. Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in explaining the targeted topics, but also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became clear to me; I know that I understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become my way of dealing with any subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a personal challenge, and do my best to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This has become my basic contribution in teaching, to dismantle any complex topic to its simplest elements, so that students do not face any problem in dealing with it; that is in discussing, analysing, and understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas into simpler equivalents is such an arduous task that requires time and effort, but I chose this it as my method in teaching, because I believe that it is the students right to get clear ideas, not a confused set of thoughts. Apart from my personal inclinations, my teaching experience has provided me with a good opportunity to deal with students from diverse backgrounds, and to explore different teaching methods with them. These economic system can be characterized as Laissez faire economy, command economy and a mixed economy, implemented by each state. Within those segments of economy, a country can have companies following different structures of industries in the marketplace with distinctive levels of competitions. To understand how fluid a country s economy can be, it would be wise to understand a bit more about the types of industries involved here. Last, but not least industry is the monopoly industry and this is the industry we will dig further in this discussion. Since monopolistic competition or oligopolistic market structures are the most commons in the United States, it would be very interesting to actually analyse more of the monopolistic structure industry and how that impacts the economy overall. In order to understand more about the monopolistic industry is important to understand the fundamental of this industry. In the monopolist industry only one seller sells a products and take over the control of those products. In this industry there is no close substitutes. Its also important to understand that in order for that to happen this firms are given exclusive protection of production by the government. Not just by the government, but these firms can acquire their monopoly through a smart and efficient free market production and with economies of scale. To better have a picture of a monopoly industry, why not given examples of one major monopoly industry in the world, the Microsoft. Not sure if there is familiar to this product, but if anyone wants to buy its software, windows is the only choice since they are the only ones who provides it. So whether we like windows or not, if there is need for a computer that s the only one we can buy. • 32. Memory Vs Collective Memory Memory is a very special thing to have, especially for the community. The people of the community do not have memory. The citizens of the community do not have memories for very special reasons and rules. If the world s history was all erased, then many people would think that many other people and countries would be nicer to each other. There would be no racism and no different religions. There would also be no war. Everything in the world would just be the same. It would be better to have individual memory and instead of collective memory because there are worse things that can happen with collective memory. The first thing that would be better in the world is that there would be no wars between countries and within countries. Everyone would be nice to each other and nothing would ever happen. Countries would not even have a military because they wouldn t even have to fight each other. If people had only their individual memory, they wouldn t care just about other countries. The person might not like the country, but they would have their own opinion about the country and they would not just be told what countries the people should or should like and not like. ... • 34. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Computer Games For budding video game players, choosing your platform for gaming is not only a bit of a challenge financially, but also depending on your level of experience and interest in convenience. When you take into account these three factors, and maybe a few more, it will very much decide what kind of gamer you would like to be, or, what is best for you at the time. For some people money may not be an issue and deciding can be relatively easy as both is an option. However, for many of us, we have to take more time to decide. When first figuring out what direction is the best one, the initial thing many consider before deciding between buying a console or a PC for gaming is cost. A current generation console can cost anywhere in the range from two hundred up to around six hundred dollars. Without advertising specific any specific brands, for some a smart phone is all you need to play simple games. However, smart phone games are usually very casual and filled with advertisement spam. Handheld portable consoles have superior games to smart phones, yet can still be quite casual when compared to full scale console home systems. Unfortunately, the competition when it comes to consoles is very strong and you find a lot of video games become exclusive to those systems. This can be very frustrating when a very good game comes out on the console you don t own. On a consumer level, the savings alone more than justify the potential extra outlay or occasional graphics card upgrade. For the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Analysis Of The Lansdowne Athlete By Lysippos Ancient sculptures bring on endless philosophical arguments regarding what is an appropriate form of perfection, defined as a fit body guided by a keen mind. This paper will approach a visual essence of the sculpture of The Lansdowne Athlete, by Lysippos, Rome 340 330 B.C. marble after a bronze original, that I viewed at the LACMA. This sculpture is located in the left wing of Greek exhibition Building, 3rd floor. I selected this sculpture as an example of an idealized body. Therefore, I will be explaining the historical background of the sculpture and address why I think it would make a good addition to our text. I will provide an analogy with other sculpture of idealized body from our textbook chapter 12 on Mind and Body mainly. I will impart more information about the essence of idealized human form as well as cultural ideals during this time period in Greece. The Lansdowne Athlete at the LACMA is an example of a well developed ideal body and carefully controlled proportions to all body parts. This sculpture is a Roman copy of an original by Lysippos made in the 1st century. It is a marble statue of 75 inches in height. The figure is in the contrapposto stance common of the style at the time and is taking a step forward. The figure still has integrity even though it has a few missing parts. Its face, which is important, is more or less intact and the standing upright with its impression of movement still visible. The missing arms, if they were restored would not add much to the sculpture and the addition of these parts will not be worth the loss of authenticity. Visiting LACMA for many years, I never noticed that ancient art has been disbanded, I was surprised! The Greek and Roman sculptures now stand in the galleries of European art. The ancient statues and vases are now part of the post antique paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts of the European Art. From my skepticism, however, I have completely converted to the curators way of thinking: the pairing of old and new art, really works! It brings out content, form, and even artistic style that would otherwise be lost. In the other hand, the sheer visual variety of white statues with more colorful objects is beautiful and passionate; much more than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The peasants who chose to migrate often decided to conform to the local customs; thus, changing their identities as well. This is the case with the Guerre family when they relocated from their family home in Hendaye to Artigat. It is never truly discussed as to why the Guerre family chose to leave their ancestral home in Hendaye except of the chance for further economic prosperity. • 40. A Short Note On Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Rocket Engine Combustion Instability Naveen Penmetsa University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, 80309 C ombustion instability has long been an area of research in the design of both aircraft and rocket engines. Specifically in terms of rocket engines, combustion instabilities occur in every type of engine including solid rocket motors, cryogenic engines, hyperbolic engines, and hydrocarbon engines. Although combustion oscillations tends to exist in almost every engine, the goal is to minimize these variations in combustion such that any pressure oscillations are below the ambient noise of the engine itself. In order to reduce the linear and nonlinear coupling that causes these instabilities, it is important to identify not only the types of oscillations that occur but also the causes for each of these oscillations. In liquid engines there are three main types of instabilities. These are chugging oscillations which are low frequency, buzzing oscillations which are of an intermediate frequency, and screeching which is a high frequency oscillation. Additionally, instabilities can oscillate in three different direction, due to the three dimensional nature of combustion. These directions are longitudinally, radially, and transversely. Flow States Effect on Liquid Engine Combustion Instability Overview The various forms of combustion instability in liquid rocket engines are directly and indirectly affected by the state of the flow from the inlet of the injector to the throat of ... The savanna is full of grazing animals that take advantage of the abundant food supply of grass. There are savanna s located in South America, India, Australia, and Africa, which is where the largest part of the savanna biome is located. Some abiotic factors in the savanna biome include weather and climate, and forest fires. Climate is very important to the biome because if the rainfall or the temperature alters from regularity, the animals and plants will not be able to survive. Savannas have warm temperatures year round, with a very wet season and then a very dry season. The rainy season occurs over the summer and brings approximately fifteen to twenty five inches of rain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
