Baroque Music And The Renaissance Era
Baroque was an interesting period of time. It was originally originated from Rome, as a way to glorify
the Counter Reformation Catholic Church, and then spread beyond Italy to Spain, France, Germany,
Austria, the Low Countries, and England. In Baroque musicians started to practice multiple
instruments being used at the same time. As opposed to Renaissance era, Baroque art mainly worked
for pope, and important ruler throughout Europe. One of the new genre of music was Opera. The aim
of early opera was to reproduce elements of ancient Greek drama. Claudio Monteverdi is considered
to be the creator of opera as genre. Because of the main aim of early opera to reproduce elements of
ancient Greek drama, Claudio Monteverdi plots draw upon stories from classical Greek mythology.
Orfeo was one of his first work in opera genre, which was is a rescue drama due to main hero rescuing
his bride. From listening a short piece of it, to me it does sound like heroic drama, as the opening
music sounds very encouraging, I liked it. You can clearly hear toccata to be sounded three times to
show multiple use of instrumental sounds that were available to a composer. Vivaldi, Violin Concerto
in E major is great example of Baroque music, best known composition in the entire repertoire. Each
part is repeated at a softer dynamic level. I personally love this piece, not only because I enjoy
listening to violin, but also for its tempo, alternation and contrast. Messiah, Behold, a Virgin shall

The Ideas Of Victory Cities
A man named Orville Simpson II has an idea to build virtual utopias, called Victory Cities. (Simpson,
1998) They are designed as cities built in the countryside, all connected through various types of
transportation. There will be no crime, pollution, over population, or other everyday problems; it will
be a utopia. A utopia is a place where there are no problems like death, poverty, or crime. It is perfect
world (Merriam Webster.com) A Victory City will have no everyday problems involved in it. Will
Victory Cities be a successful utopia, or not?
One of the most important factors in a Victory City is the money system. Mr. Simpson s brilliant idea
for the money system is having all citizens carry a banknote around with them. When someone ...

These are imaginative ideas for the residential areas, but it can have problems, such as some people
being jealous of the people with larger apartments. People today don t share apartments with strangers,
making it a different system than our society, but I think it is still a great idea. It will be a large part of
a Victory City.
Another essential element in a Victory City is transportation. Within the city, there will be only two
types of transportation: elevators, and small electric cars. The high speed elevators make it possible to
move around a building, from one place to another, in only five to ten minutes. The electric cars are
very safe, even children can operate them, and they will prevent many accidents. Connecting Victory
Cities will be larger electric cars and trains, running through tunnels underground. The transportation
system is quite different than our way, as we can choose between varieties of different vehicles, and it
is not allowed in a Victory City. I think it is a brilliant idea for the transportation in the city. Mr.
Simpson s safe transportation system will be a major part of the city. A fourth element in a Victory
City will be a food system.

The, The Biggest Loser, Big World, By Robert Bogdan

The Real World Miss America and American Idol it is difficult to watch American television in the
first decade of the twenty first century without encountering a freak. Britney Spears, called her 2009,

that the circus goes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination. According to
Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak show in America, the popularity of the circus
had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of audience, such as
new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The exhibition of freaks
had become morally incorrect. Strangely, at the turn of the twenty first century, America is revealing a
renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly apparent since the
Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward country folk waiting for
the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city people who frequented P.T.
Barnum s famous American Museum at Broadway and Ann Street in New York City. This time

Sociological Effects Of Deviance
In sociology, the term deviance alludes to practices or mentalities which conflict with certain social
standards. It is clear that aberrant is a captivating theme for sociologist, as well as for TV industry and
its viewers, too. I choose to watch the show Full House , I saw 1 deviance act. The episode Fast

The Consecution Of Christians In The Redemption Of Peter
The persecution of the Church affected a lot in the family life of Christians. Emperor Nero did the first
heinous persecution of Christians. In one of movies The redemption of Peter shows few glimpses of
this persecution. Families with children, women and old parents were sent to the unbelievable torture
containing loud and painful screams as being Christians, were heard being tortured but they did not
deny their faith. The Emperor says he wants to burn Christians, so he can have light for his garden;
Emperor s wife says, Kill them all! . In one of the prison s scene, soldier shares his concern with
another soldier while guarding prison that poor children did nothing wrong but are suffering with their
parents. Children were humiliated with their families. (P162 Macculcah): In third century, Perpetua
(martyr) embraced Christianity. She knew the result of it, will be death. Her father did his best not to
declare herself as Christian for the sake of his grey hair, for her son, brother and family. She asked her
father, do you see the vase, or whatever you want to call it, can you call it by another name than what
it is? He said, No, you can t. So, I cannot call myself anything other what I am a Christian. She
disobeyed her father. Her concern for her brother for whom she prayed in vision, her attachment for
her son and family was remarkable. She had a hard choice to be a martyr or a good mother. For the

Mono-Nitration Of Methyl Benzoate Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment was to create a hypothesis concerning what product would produce in
the mono nitration of methyl benzoate. The hypothesis made stated that the product of the mono
nitration of methyl benzoate would be methyl m nitrobenzoate. A nitration reaction was executed and
was used to describe by means of high performance liquid chromatography, (HPLC). My partner and I
obtained concentrated H2SO4 and mixed it with methyl benzoate in a reaction tube in a flicking
manner. A mixture of concentrated H2SO4 and concentrated HNO3 was then made in a second
reaction tube and chilled in ice once mixed by flicking. The H2SO4 and HNO3 mixture was very
slowly added into the methyl benzoate reaction tube. The mixture was stirred and let to cool to about
15°C. We let the mixture warm to room temperature for 15 minutes after the acid mixture was
completely added. The reaction mixture was poured into ice, then vacuumed filtrated with a Hirsch

Nigeria And Angol African Countries Plagued By The...
Nigeria and Angola are both West African countries plagued by the resource curse. The countries are
teeming with oil, ranking Nigeria as Africa s largest oil producer and Angola as the second largest oil
producer. In 2014, it was reported that Nigeria was responsible for producing 2.4 million barrels of oil
per day and Angola produced 1.8 million barrels of oil per day. While these numbers have fluctuated
greatly in the past, both countries still remain at the top as Africa s oil producers (Carpenter; Ajayi).
The production of oil in Nigeria and Angola has brought in a great deal of profit to both countries,
however, it has also come along with a number of complications. As Ajayi writes, fuel abundance in
less developed countries tends to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neither country has strong state institutions so political progress and economic development become
difficult. A lack of state institutions lowers the standard of living and impedes civil rights. Corruption
is also a symptom of missing institutions (McMillan 156). Corruption is a major obstacle in Nigeria
and Angola which is influenced by oil money. In both cases there is a bloc of corrupt powerful elites ...
while a large percentage of the population [continues] to live below poverty lines (Ajayi 1). The
money that is generated from oil falls into the hands of elites which directly impacts the country s
ability to democratize. In Nigeria, oil revenues have been the primary lubricant in making democracy
work (O Neil, Fields, and Share 760). Politicians have rigged elections by promising money and
positions of power to citizens to guarantee votes. This is problematic because Nigerians are not having
their voices heard. They are being bribed with money and power to vote for a politician, which is
enticing in a country where the citizens live below the poverty line. This not only hinders democracy,
but is a breeding ground for violence (O Neil, Fields, and Share). In Angola, the government aims to
keep corruption and other abuses of power a secret from Angolans. The state owns most newspapers
and the only television station, so they tend to show government propaganda in favor of the state only.

Most of these aspiring entrepreneurs will start a lifestyle business, primarily providing employment to
themselves and their families. The rewards of such a business is the ability to control the company,
able to continue to do what the owner loves without having too much risk, have a positive cash flow
from the early going. The owner only has to report to himself, have a relatively constant cash flow and
able to take time off whenever he wants. The risks are the inability to hire top talent (as talented
people usually avoid companies that over no stock options and only limited opportunities for personal
growth), not having the chance for huge gains. The trade off is a lot of freedom, but the company
cannot expect to grow bigger. A high potential business is focused on new markets with explosive
potential. As they are often technology driven, these ventures require heavy upfront cash investment to
quickly gain decisive advantages, so professional investors, particularly venture capital firms, usually
provide funding. High potential ventures strive to achieve lasting economic and social impact, and
aspire to achieve IPOs, or initial public offerings (getting listed on a stock exchange so they can sell

Windows 8.1 vs Maverick
Windows 8.1 versus Mac Maverick OS
1) Multi tasking
Microsoft leads over OS X with 8.1 by allowing users to run up to four apps on the screen at once.
You can t even snap two windows side by side on OS X Mavericks. Just as important, you can now
snap two Modern apps side by side and have them both take up half of the screen. Multitasking on OS
X Mavericks hasn t improved much. For the most part, OS X is best for unitasking because of its
ability to run many apps at full screen.
Winner: Windows 8.1. An improved Snap function makes Microsoft s OS the better bet for
multitaskers.

Unlike Apple s iCloud, Microsoft s SkyDrive Cloud service lets you access your files on Windows 8,
Windows Phone 8, iOS and Android devices. With Apple, you can access files via the web. The new
feature is iCloud Keychain, which stores everything from passwords to credit card info in the cloud.
Everything gets encrypted and pushed to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Winner: Windows 8.1 The accessibility of files from more types of devices and improved integration.
Result:
The choice between OS X and Windows has always been fairly simple for those on a tight budget. If
you don t want to spend $999 or more on a new notebook, a Mac isn t the right choice for you. But
when it comes to the overall experience on comparable hardware, the choice becomes more difficult.
Windows 8.1 builds upon the touch friendly strengths of Windows 8 while better catering to desktop
users. This OS is better at multitasking than OS X Mavericks, and SkyDrive is more robust than
iCloud. OS X Mavericks isn t all that ambitious a release compared to the upcoming iOS 7, but it does
beat Windows 8.1 in many key categories. While not as dynamic, Mavericks interface is easier to use
because there aren t two competing environments (desktop and tablet). Mavericks also does a better
job with notifications and search, as well as social sharing. Do we wish Apple would

History Of The New Zealand Army Essay
QUESTION 3:
HOBBITON
History:
In 1998 was when it all started ,looking for the perfect area of land suitable for a village of Hobbits,
Peter Jackson found the Alexanders family farm while he was on a aerial search suitable for what they
needed with pristine rolling grasslands, like a slice of ancient England (Wikipedia TLOTR), looked as
though Hobbits had already begun excavations (Alan Lee ,set decorator). After some negotiations were
made with the Alexander family ,shortly after construction begun in March 1999 transforming the
landscape into the set for Hobbiton. The New Zealand army also got involved bringing heavy
machinery to build a 1.5 kilometer road from the nearest highway to the construction site. Peter
Jackson wrote: I knew Hobbiton needed to be warm, comfortable and feel lived in. By letting the
weeds grow through the cracks and establishing hedges and little gardens a year before filming, we
ended up with an incredibly real place, not just a film set
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobbiton_Movie_Set).So much detail went into creating the perfect
atmosphere for the 37 Hobbit holes ,gardens and even hedges. In December 1999 filming commenced
for The Lord of the Rings and lasted for three months. The set, originally built out of untreated timber,
ply and polystyrene, was never meant to last, but only for the duration that was needed however it
became a place of interest for tourist.

Big Ass Spider Movie Analysis
Big Ass Spider! is one of the films that as soon as you look at the cover you know exactly what you re
in for. It feels like a call back to the 1950 s giant monster films like King Kong, The Beast from
20,000 Fathoms and Them!. Them! being the earliest of the giant insect films. Big Ass Spider! is big,
bold and apologetically a B Movie. Not that this film doesn t have flaws, because it does. But like
other B Films, I have a really hard time hating on it and before it s thrown out there. I know that this
film isn t technically a horror film, B.A.S. is an Action/Comedy/Sci Fi. But don t tell that to Netflix,
which claims it as B Horror.

Not the actor mind you, Lombardo Boyar is fun, engaging and is without question delivers the one of
the best performances in the film. My issue lies in the fact that his character is a terrible racial

meant to be .
Something that B.A.S. did really well was its use of cameos and I love cameos. B.A.S. manages to slip
in Lin Shaye and Ruben Pla from Insidious. It also has a Llyod Kaufman as a jogger and any film that
features Llyod Kaufman in it has to be doing something right. I also wanna talk about Ray Wise that
while not a cameo, plays a relatively small role. The main reason I want to bring him up is he s

The Early Renaissance Art in Florence
The early Renaissance art in Florence focused on an elaborate, Gothic style of painting; very formal
and traditional, yet there was always something that seemed to be lacking. Perspective and depth were
two very important qualities in painting, yet up until the time of young Masaccio, (born Tommaso
Guidi), paintings were beautiful, but seemed to just be art that hung on the wall. In Masaccio s work,
rather than recede in space, the figures seem to come forward (Cole 120). He may not have known it
at the time, but his style of painting would influence many painters well after his death; Donatello,
Michelangelo, and so on. Masaccio may have only painted for a total of 8 years, but during those 8
years he revolutionized not only the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has undergone many repairs, and has been to many places, so it can sometimes be hard to really see
past all of the new and really see what Masaccio created. Yet, really looking past what has been
changed, a viewer can really see Masaccio s talent: Masaccio s perspective design of the vault was
created within the surface geometry. The foreshortened pattern of coffers could be calculated using
simple geometry (Polzer 1). Masaccio was not just an artist, but also used basic math and geometry
skills to really create that realism in his works. This shows that he was also very intellectual as well as
creative, and became part of another era of painting that used skills such as geometry, and not just
creativity, in creating art. The Holy Trinity truly creates the illusion of Christ being crucified right in
that archway, and that the viewers could just walk right in and become a part of the painting. As James
Ackerman says, the magnificent vault arching over the austere figures in Masaccio s fresco [is] an
utterly convincing illusion of architectural form extending into space (Achkerman 171). In this piece,
Masaccio s use of vanishing points and linear perspective draw the spectator s eye to the center of the
painting, right below the

Similarities Between Hinduism And Confucianism
Hinduism and Confucianism are two well known religions that have been around for thousands of
years. they have a lot of similarities, but also some differences. Both religions are located in Asia,
while Hinduism is mainly in India, and Confucianism is in China. Both religions are based around the
people s actions as well as the meaning of life, which are shown through their strict society and social
structures. Even though they re different, both religions have 3 principles or values they go by. They
are two of the most peaceful religions on the planet, with both their goals being to bring order in
human existence, they both look to bettering the lives of the people within them. Hinduism and
Confucianism both believe very much in education and social statues, which is why they have strict
policies on them. They have both influenced philosophy greatly since their existence in the early
times. Overall, both Hinduism and Confucianism look for the common good that will help enforce
peace and brotherhood. Their belief systems go on a basis of making their followers act accordingly,
helping to run their government and set a stable mindset for its people.
Hinduism, the world s oldest religion, is the third largest religion in the world after Islam and
Christianity with close to one billion followers. The followers of the religion are called Hindus and are
mainly located in India, and their place of worship is a temple. The religion doesn t have any one

How Testing Is Used For Object Oriented Environment
Executive Summary The motivation behind this report is to examine about how testing is done in
object oriented environment. Object oriented programs have an alternate behavior and structure when
contrasted with programs created utilizing technical language. It takes after an information driven
methodology and it is depends on ladder of objects and classes. Classes are only a gathering of objects
that inform properties and connections and objects are elements that stores information send and get
messages. Re usability can be picked up in object oriented programming by making utilization of
features which is polymorphism, inheritance, encapsulation and abstraction. Issues like maintenance
and reuse are explained utilizing OO approach. Although the development is done by people, testing
needs to be carried out to uncover mistakes. As classes team up with one another, OO framework
needs to be tested at various levels. Testing starts by investigating the OOA and OOD models. The
correctness and consistency of the models are analyzed utilizing formal technical reviews and they are
examined in this report. Different types of diagrams, for example, control flow graph, state transition
diagram and class diagram are utilized by the test models. Different testing techniques, for example,
fault based testing, scenario based testing and state based testing strategies are explained in detail.
Testing techniques, for example, class test which is performed once the code is composed,

Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a type of cancer that is defined by permeation of the bone marrow,
blood, and other tissues by proliferative, clonal, abnormally differentiated, and occasionally poorly
differentiated treated cells of the hematopoietic system(1). The dynamic interaction between leukemia
cells and the bone marrow microenvironment is one of the characteristics of leukemia. The important
components of the bone marrow environment include tumor cells, extracellular matrix, non tomur
cells (fibroblasts, stromal cells, immune cells) and hypoxia(2). It is well known in solid tumors that
the excessive proliferation of tumor cells causes a severe hypoxia, which can lead to tumor

Angiogenesis refers to the formation of new blood vessels from the previous arteries(11). Studies have
shown that tumor development and invasion in solid tumors are associated with angiogenesis, and
recent evidence suggests that angiogenesis may be in the development of acute myeloid leukemia(12).
In acute myeloid leukemia, angiogenesis directly contributes to the tumor progression by the provision
of necessary factors for blast proliferation as well as through angiogenic factors(13)..significant
angiogenic factors include VEGF A, BFGF, PDGF, FGF, in which among them VEGF A is the most
important. Furthermore the angiogenesis, VEGF A has other functions in the progress of leukemia
cells, which performs these functions by autocrine and paracrine loops. When VEGF A binds to its
receptors on leukemia cells it stimulates proliferation in these cells and also increases survival by
reducing apoptotic proteins (autocrine).

In spite of this, the studies show that the health outcome is superior in Canada as compared to the
United States. WHO s ratings on overall health service ranks Canada 30th and the USA 37th among

care. Statistics show higher life expectancy and lower infant mortality rate in Canada than in the
United States. Different racial makeup, obesity, alcohol and smoking rates can be the cause that US
has shorter life expectancy and higher infant mortality rate. Canada has half the obesity rate as
compared to the US. On an average, obesity can decrease life expectancy by almost 7 years. Other
things to consider is the fact that the death of an American newborn in Canada is not accounted for in
Canada but successful delivery of a Canadian newborn in the US is accounted for in Canada.
Americans have exceptionally high death rates deaths in conditions like coronary heart disease,

Biology And Reading Comprehension Exams
At the start and finish of a school year, a group of Italian third and fifth grade students with diverse
sociocultural levels underwent two studies in which their concurrent and predictive validities of the
Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) and Raven s Colored Progressive Matrices (CPM) were
investigated. The focus of the studies was on their math and reading comprehension exams. The
NNAT study is a nonverbal measure of general ability... intended to assess cognitive ability
independently of linguistic and cultural background. (1 Pearson) The CPM study is also a nonverbal
test but, conversely, it measures the subjects reasoning abilities. These nonverbal studies were helpful
in presenting meaningful data for forecasting the academic performance of students with diverse
sociocultural levels. The studied group consisted of 253 participants. The participants characteristics
were the following: (1) their average age was 9.4 years (with a standard deviation of 1.1 years of age),
(2) 130 were female and 123 were male, and (3) 126 were in the third grade and 127 were in the fifth

Persuasive Essay On Non Traditional Family Reunions
Are you bored of attending the same old same old family reunions that never get out of the starting
gate? Why not try out a go cart family reunion at Pole Position Raceway? It s a non traditional family
reunion experience is fun for the whole family.
Our exciting go kart experience involves a fully inclosed interior track that makes us a great
destination for summer and winter family reunions. And our karts travel an astonishing 45 mph, which
makes for some truly breathtaking neck and neck racing.
And even the kids can join in on the fun! The only stipulation is that racers must be 48 inches to ride.

Designing A Mousetrap Powered Device
The purpose of this project is to design and construct a mousetrap powered device that could move a
hacky sack along a rectangular track 2 meters wide x 15 meter long. The device must not be powered
by any outside source. It must be a product of creative and innovative solution with the application of
the fundamentals of engineering. The device must also incorporate the five solution criteria; novel
solution (device must be surprising), effective solution (hacky sack should travel at least 15 meters),
elegant solution (device should be simple and understandable), germinal solution (opens up new
ideas) and lastly the creativity of the device. This project also aims to help develop the capabilities of
each student as a team member in a group work activity.
2 Creativity in Design
The team started the process by doing individual research and drawing a design plan for the most ideal
device to build. We started brainstorming and suggested several ideas of devices, such as, a three
wheel and a four wheel car, a catapult device and a flying mousetrap device. Afterwards we have
come up with several factors to consider in choosing which device to build. These are as follows;
It is simple and easy to build
Must have enough force to carry the hacky sack for more than 15 meters
The materials needed are cheap and easy to find
The device must be aesthetically pleasing but must remain to provide sufficient functionality
Most of all, must incorporate the five solution criteria

Abstract
Technology has reached an age where it is able to interact with human eye movements, gestures and
even speeches, resulting in the human computer interaction era. The central nervous system in the
human body that controls the bodily movements and allows us to interact with the computers is
referred to as the motor system. However, even with these technological advancements the world is
experiencing, the human body is far from safe. Every day, thousands of people are suffering from
paralysis; which takes away their ability to move and communicate.
This paper aims to discuss a new branch in human computer interaction known as brain computer
interaction to conclude on the most appropriate method, be it the non invasive electroencephalography
technique or the invasive electrocorticigram technique, to heal paralysis.
The reasoning behind the decision will be based on two experiments that are both used to measure
whether the brain can read imaginary and real signals as well as identify the origin of these signals.
These experiments both show a high rate of success yet it can be concluded that the invasive
electrocorticigram technique is better due to a higher percentage of accuracy and a smaller percentage
of possible errors.
Keywords: brain computer interaction; brain machine interface; invasive; non invasive;
electrocorticigram; electroencephalography.

Psychoanalytical Criticism of Macbeth
Psychoanalytical criticism is a form of literary critique, which uses some of the techniques of
psychoanalysis in the interpretation of literature. One of the more prevalent Psychoanalytical theorists
after Freud was Jacques Lacan. In his text, The Signification of the Phallus, asserts that the idea of
both sexes are based on the male being and the female having the phallus, and these two differences
determine the relations between the sexes while also bringing them together. For Lacan, the phallus
for males represents power, authority, and desire while for females the phallus signifies lack of power
and agency (182).
Another important text by Lacan is The Agency of the Letter in the Unconscious or Reason since
Freud. This text ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would argue, however, that Lady Macbeth s unsex me here speech tends to deconstruct gender
categories, unfixing the rigid cultural distinctions as well as attributes which define male and female
(Chamberlain 79).
Lady Macbeth wants the spirits to unsex [her] here not because she wants to be transformed into a
man, but rather she desires the same male characteristics as her husband which are associated with
violence. Alfar claims, If she does indeed transgress her gender to become more manly, therefore, it is
because she must do so to reflect as conduct manuals demand the bloody desire of her husband (181).
After returning home from the battlefield, Macbeth consciously ponders murdering his king. However,
his loyalty to the crown overtakes his hidden desire, and he resolves: If chance will have me king,
why, chance / may crown me / Without my stir (1.3) Macbeth then informs Lady Macbeth that he is

Lady Macbeth tries to convince Macbeth to go through with the deed:
Was the hope drunk
Wherein you dressed yourself? Hath it slept since?
And wakes it now, to look so green and pale
At what it did so freely? From this time
Such I account thy love. Art thou afeard
To be the same in thine own act and valor
As thou art in desire? Wouldst thou have that

Argumentative Essay On Role Playing Games
Kids all across America play role playing games that involve shooting each other with water guns
which sounds harmless and innocent but some people think different. A select hand of people think
that kids and teenagers playing role playing games are violent and could lead the kids into a troubled
future, but they really are just harmless. The reasons for why role playing games like senior assassin
are harless are that it isn t real killing, it doesn t involve real guns, no one gets hurt, and that it is
usually set up by the school that all of the students attend. But on the other hand the people that think
that it is violent have no real evidence and only say things like someone could get hurt, but from what
the water, and they also say that it involves weapons but that really doesn t mean anything.
The evidence for why it is harmless is because there has never been a death or killing from playing
those harmless games because there is nothing wrong with them. Others say that the game is very
dangerous but there is no evidence for that, the only thing that they say is that it simulates violence but
there is really nothing violent about it, besides that the game is just fun. A quote from an article called

The Reigns Of David, Hezekiah And Josiah
After many centuries of being under the rule of judges, the Israelites finally ask Samuel to appoint a
king, making Israel like most other nations being ruled as monarchies. This request leads to the
appointing of the first king of Israel, Saul, followed by centuries of kings (1 Samuel 8 9). A large
majority of these kings have been deemed to be bad kings, leaving only a small handful to be
considered good. In general, these kings are given such labels for their actions and policies throughout
their time of power. This paper will discuss the reigns of David, Hezekiah and Josiah and what makes
them considered good kings, as well as Ahab and Manasseh and the actions that deemed them to be
bad kings. Throughout the history of Israel and Judah, there have been very few kings that are
classified by scholars as being good. The king in which all other kings are measured up to, and
possibly the most widely known, would be David. He is actually stated to be the most fully developed
character in the Hebrew bible (Coogan 255). David took reign after Saul and at this time Israel was
still a united monarchy. His success as a king can be contributed to both his character and relationship
with God. David s talent as a warrior can be seen when he so effortlessly conquers the massive
Philistine, Goliath. He also exhibited political and military strength as a double agent working for the
Israelites while living amongst the Philistines, all while conquering the enemies of Israel.

The Significance of Radical Thought and Attitudes in the Civil War Period
The Civil War caused turmoil and upheaval that affected every strand of life in England. It challenged
and upturned the deeply ingrained feudal system with a Monarch as the head of all moral, spiritual and
governmental life, and moved thought and order towards new democratic ideas and systems of rule.
This period saw a new experimentation in ideas and attitudes among the population, which was not
welcomed by many. As Christopher Hill writes What was new in the 17 centaury was the idea that the
world might be permanently turned upside down . In the wake of Charles s regicide there was a

As. Michel Lynch states: It was the great issue that defined settlement , or peace in this case. One
group challenging this were the True Levellers mockingly known as Diggers: With beliefs in equality,
community and true religion for all they argued that land was a common treasury and lived in
communes detached from society. The most famous commune was on St George s Hill, where
common land was taken over by a group numbering around 50 led by Winstanly. Their ideas derived
and supported from the Bible were radical in that they directly threatened the gentry and the
landowners. As Michel Lynch states they . were regarded as an intolerable affront to established rights
of property referring to a lifestyle of sexual promiscuity, heavy drinking and frequent blaspheming ,
usurping land laws and ownership. Reactions and accusations followed that they were Drunk on the
Bible , thus dramatising many aspects of Digger practice. Just how seriously they challenged
established order was evident in violent clashes that culminated in their removal under Cromwell s
orders Lynch further poses an interesting idea that In an exact sense they were communists . He is
suggesting that here may lie the original seeds that led to later Communism. That the first statue of

Romeo And Juliet Romantic Love Essay
American author and psychotherapist, Robert A. Johnson, once said, Romantic love, being the single
greatest energy system in the Western psyche, is a tremendous power that attracts. Romantic love is
compelling and influential, however it is not the only kind of love. Love comes in many different
forms each with their own special bond between the lovers. Some of these different types of love are
friendship, unrequited love, parental love, love of family honor, and romantic love. Many of these
distinct types of love are present in William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, a play
about two young lovers from feuding families who are destined for doom. In the play, Romeo
Montague and Juliet Capulet go against their families ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when Romeo drinks the poison to kill himself, he declares, Here s to my love [drinks] O
true apothecary./ Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die. (V. iii. 119 120). Romeo s action of
killing himself implies that he would rather die than have to live his life being separated from his lover
Juliet. Romeo s romantic love for Juliet was so influential that it drove him to kill himself, which no
other kind of love had the power or impact to do. When Juliet awoke from her faked death and found
Romeo s body, she was devastated and reacted to the death of her love the same way Romeo did, by
killing herself. For example, after discovering Romeo s dead body, Juliet comes upon Romeo s dagger
and picks it up while stating, This is thy sheath; there rust and let me die. [She stabs herself and falls.]
(V. iii. 170). Juliet s action of killing herself is prominent in the story because it establishes the
strength of love. Juliet loved Romeo enough to commit suicide, which indicates that the romantic love
Juliet had for Romeo was more significant than Juliet s will to live. Romeo and Juliet s decision to kill
themselves reveals the dominance of romantic love over other types of

Challenges of Caribbean Society in Achieving National Unity
There have been many attempts for the Caribbean nations to come together as one, leading to national
unity in the region. Some attempts at unity include: Federation, CARICOM (Caribbean Community),

In government with all different religions on the leaders table, many arguments will come to, as with
different religions come different values. For example, the Muslims would more than likely suggest
that having more than one wife is not considered bigamy and would make it law that one could have
more than one. The Christians would go against that, as they believe that only one wife is godly, and it
would be extremely hard for a compromise to be made. As a single religion would be ideal for an
amalgamation of countries to cooperate, and it would be impossible to convert everyone to any one
religion, then religion is one big obstacle in the way of national unity.
Another issue, which is present, is the fact that in the different countries, different languages and
dialects of languages are spoken. A language barrier is a serious impediment to the success of national
unity. If proper communication cannot go on, then proper conclusions cannot be made, and any
progress politically is extremely slow. Also, the people will not feel a sense of Caribbean unity, if they
cannot understand or relate to their other Caribbean residents. Lots of segregation of language will
occur if national unity was achieved, and that would deceive the whole idea of unity.
With many different cultures and religions, come many different festivals and bank

Follow Filial Piety In Confucianism
In the teachings of Confucius, there are concepts ranging from jūnzǐ to zhì, but the two key teachings
that are predominant in both Analects and Menzi readings are lǐ and xiào. Lǐ refers to having certain
rules to follow for proper behavior, while xiào refers to practicing filial piety with in ones family,
friends, and ruler. Furthermore, an example that shows lǐ is shown in Book Ten of the Analects,
showing how proper behavior has to be altered depending on the situation that one is in (Ivanhoe: 27).
Proper behavior has to be shown at all times, but there are distinct situations where more respectful
behavior is required. Overall, having rules for proper behavior keeps order within Confucius families,
rulers and essentially the universe. Having this proper behavior not only shows respect for others, but
it also shows how knowledgeable one is (Ivanhoe: 27).
Additionally, xiào is shown in the Analects by the way in which Book seventeen represents it. Analect
17.9 does not specifically talk about how to follow filial piety, but it provides an example on how
education will teach you how to follow filial piety (Ivanhoe: 44). Following filial piety in
Confucianism also keeps order in society, by assuring the people to respect their elders. This also
shows how everything is connected back to the family. Ancestors are very important with in the ...

in 1A7, by describing how filial piety should be followed, extending from the family level to the ruler
level (Menzi: 118). Filial piety is described to be a practice that brings success to ones family;
therefore it should be followed (Menzi:

The Dark Knight Essay
The Dark Knight is grimly magisterial. It s a summer blockbuster that contemplates near total civic
disaster: Crowds surge, tractor trailers flip, and buildings explode, but the pop violence feels heavy,
mournful. Light barely escapes the film s gravitational pull. Yet flitting through this 10 ton
expressionist murk is a diseased butterfly with stringy hair and a maniacal giggle. Played by a dead
actor, he s the most alive thing here. It s not quite fair to say that the late Heath Ledger steals The Dark

Confusion reigns in the opening scenes; loose threads abound toward the end (including one major
figure literally left hanging). Yet the generous midsection works as an agonized big muscle action film
about a conflicted superhero. As Bruce Wayne, Bale is gravely shallow, and he lacks the sense of fun
Robert Downey Jr. gave his obscenely rich playboy in Iron Man. Bruce uses his secret identity as a
hidden camera to glean information from the city s upper echelons, but he s not quite there otherwise.
This, oddly, is what makes him interesting, both to us and to assistant DA and ex girlfriend Rachel

In order to make an improvement to the part of community support and health service, here are some
suggestions. As compare with other countries and cities, there is something we can do as to improve it.
They are the prevention and health care, range of services and data management.
First is the health and preservation. The government should provide some interesting projects on
promote the prevention and health care (World Health Organization, 2007). They should encourage
the elderly to join difference kinds of workshop which are about difference kinds of health problems.
It can let them know more about how to take good care with their bodies. Formation of the support
group for different kinds of chronic diseases patients who are in different ages can promote awareness
of those diseases, and it can help the health services providers can easier to provide special health
services for specify patients (HKCSS, 2012). In addition, as the support groups are included with
different kinds of age group in the community, it helps promote the social inclusion of the elderly.

Redeemer Hospital. He resides at home with his wife, he has two adult children. Before retiring, he
was employed as a laborer. E.S. is admitted with a diagnosis of community acquired pneumonia.
Significant past medical history includes interstitial lung disease, emphysema, and hypothyroidism.
The nursing diagnosis for E.S. is Impaired Gas Exchange, related to decreased respiratory rate, as

Deaf Culture And Bilingual Signs

deaf culture and conversational signs. I went from being able to carry on a conversation with my voice

they were trying to say. At first I thought that this would be my greatest challenge in learning to

Plasmid Lab Report
Introduction In this investigation pUC19 plasmids were used as the vector due to its small size of
2686bp, high uptake efficiency by the host and fast replication time. Important features of this plasmid
include the origin of replication and multiple cloning sites (MCS). The origin of replication allows the
plasmid to replicate inside the host bacterium. The MCS is located within the lacZ gene and contains
unique sites for the Xbal EcoRI restirction enzymes to cut and produce sticky ends for the CIH 1 gene
to bind to. Furthermore, the pUC19 plasmid also contains an ampiccilin resistance gene so only
transforemed E.coli are able to remain viable when spread on the agar plates that also has the addition
of ampiccilin. The lacZ gene encodes the β galactosidase enzyme which aids in indentifying the
recombinant E.coli from the non recombinant cells (Coventry University 2016). The addition of 5
bromo 4 chloro 3 indoyl β thiogalactoside (X gal) in the agar mix acts as an artifical substrate for the
enzyme so it produces blue E.coli colonies when hydrolised by the β galactosidase meaning those
specific colonies do not contain the plasmid with the CIH 1 insert (non recombinant E.coli) (Coventry
University 2016). Isopropyl β D thiogalactoside (IPTG) an artifical transcription inducer of the lacZ
gene is also added into the agar mix, binding to the repressor gene and inactivating it. Therefore when
the CIH 1 gene is incorporated within the plasmid MCS and inserted into the E.coli

The Pros And Cons Of Spanking On Children
Spanking a four year old causing trouble leads to more trouble so why hit him, it only causes them to
act up, but alternatives to spanking can be used upon a child to get them to behave. The right of
parents to physically discipline their children is ingrained in American culture and recognized in our
laws (Blum 921), but a toddler doesn t need harsh physical discipline to learn the difference between
right and wrong, it doesn t need to be spanked because they are doing something they are not
supposed to be doing, it just needs to be told that what they are doing is wrong and they should stop.
After a while the child knows not to do certain things because they know they shouldn t do them. One
very good example of an alternative to spanking is putting the child in time out. Let s say the child is
misbehaving a lot, yelling across the room or throwing a tantrum because you didn t want to buy them
a toy they wanted, and he or she doesn t want to listen to anything you are saying, giving the child a
warning allows them to consider where their parents are coming from, but if they ignore it putting
them in time out gives the child some time to reflect on what they did wrong. This works very well
with young children because they have a fear of being by themselves. Some Mexican parents tell their
kids that once they get home they will get a spanking because they were misbehaving, but this puts the
child in a state of anxiety, no child wants to get home from a long day and get

Lady Macbeth says, yet do I fear thy nature, it is too full o th milk of human kindness (1.5.15 16).
Here she uses the expression full [of the] milk , meaning she believed he was too innocent, righteous
and fearful to do evil. She infantilizes Macbeth, by doubting his capacity to act, and depicting him as a
baby full of milk . She says to herself, That I might pour my spirits in thine ear, and chastise with the
valour of my tongue all that impedes thee from the golden round (1.5.23 250). Since she thought
Macbeth was not capable of committing a crime, she acted as his guidance and corrupts him by
motivating him to kill. she had to give him the courage he needed in order to kill the king. She talks
him into it and dismisses all the thoughts that stopped him from being crowned. She also helps
Macbeth physically by drugging the guards, taking back the daggers Macbeth was supposed to leave
behind and smearing the guards with blood. She tells Macbeth, my hands are of your colour... (2.2.63).
She accepts that although she did not stab the king, she is a murderer like him and she like him is

Media is a wonderful and powerful source of technology, which allows society to connect and share
on a whole new level. Even though media is wonderful it has its downfalls, including promoting a
negative body image. According to Carla, body image is an individual s perceptions, thoughts and
feelings about her body, and how they re shaped through interactions with others and within a larger
societal context (Mooney, Carla). When people begin to obsess over their body image it can lead to
eating disorder and other health concerns. Although media influences eating disorders by setting high
body expectations in advertising and on social media, there are companies and individuals which
promote a healthy body image.

It s also worth mentioning that Cisco s own website is very informative, with detailed financial and
organizational structure. Strategic Overview From the case study delivered during class (Indu, 2010) it
is clear that Cisco s goal was to increase market share and maintain a sustained growth. Added to this
continued improvement to customer and supplier relations. The company s current mission statement
states that; Cisco s mission is to shape the future of the Internet by creating unprecedented value and
opportunity for our customers, employees, investors, and ecosystem partners. (Cisco.com) With a
strong customer focus at the core of their business, another strategy employed by Cisco is to position
themselves close to not only the customer but suppliers too. This closeness and strength of supplier
relations allows Cisco to respond quickly to changing customer and in fact market demands and
trends. One of the strategic applications to enable growth and innovation was the use of acquisitions.

CLAS Standards In Nursing
Hello everyone, my name is Sarah Hartford. I am a registered nurse currently working on a
Progressive Care Unit. I started my nursing career after completing my ASN. I began working on an
orthopedic wing of a local hospital. Shortly after, I moved to a progressive care unit where I feel my
heart has stayed. I completed my Bachelor s degree in nursing and began exploring new options. I
opened my eyes to home health shortly after my son was born and following brain surgery for a Chiari
Malformation. I began to miss the more hands on care that was available in the hospital setting, so I
decided that when a local hospital was opening that I wanted to help establish this facility from the

Wheel Of Life Research Paper
The Wheel of life has six main sections which represent the six realms it was designed by the Buddha
in order to simplify his teachings to ordinary people. The six realms are understood as the forms of
existence into which people are born according to their Karma. The realms can also be interpreted as
real life situations and it also contains images that represent the three poisons (ignorance, attachment
and aversion). Karma, the six realms of samsara, impermanence, nirvana and the Buddha these are
contained within the wheel of life. This shows that Buddhism is a dynamic, living, religious tradition
because Buddha used this to simplify his teachings to the ordinary people. The wheel of life condenses
much of Buddhist teachings and principal beliefs so that it can be understood easily.
Impermanence is represented by the creature holding the Wheel of life he is known as Yama he is
believed to be the protector of Buddhists and Buddhism. He is not evil despite his appearance the role
that he plays in Buddhist life is reminding people about the transience of life. These ... Show more

The realm of gods is the highest of realms and it is always at war with the realm of Asuras anyone
born in the God realm will experience unlimited pleasure but they will be reborn in a less pleasurable
state if they do not attain Nirvana. Hungry Ghosts are for people whose Karma was not bad enough
for the hell realm but it was not good enough for the God Realm either. The realm of Hell is depicted
as a place of suffering where beings are subject to the utmost torture due to having a terrible Karma.
The animal realm is marked by ignorance and complacency. Animal beings find contentment easily
but are disinterested in anything unfamiliar. The human realm is the only place where nirvana can be
attained because the Dharma is accessible in the human realm only few seek

John Maynard Keynes Essay
What was Keynes theory and how did he influence the world| economy in the 19th century?
Before the 1930s the US economy had been ruled by the forces of supply and demand and with as
little government interference as possible and it seemed if everything went smooth.
But in reality the system favorite the middle and the upper class, so about half of the American
population did not participate in the economic growth. Wealth and purchasing power were uneven
distributed and over production in industry and agriculture became a severe problem. In addition,
speculation in stocks had driven the value of the stocks up to unrealistic heights. All this is said to be
some of the causes for the Great Depression that reflects the 1930s. What ... Show more content on

What was missing was purchasing power. If the workers got money then they would spend it and the
money would change owner and eventually create willingness to invest. But the government had to
start the process, and use money, increase the salary and take up loans even though it could lead to
deficit budgets. The most important thing was to get people back at work. It is clear to see that
President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the U.S. administration adopted Keynes theory, known as the
General Theory , in their recovery plan, New Deal . The government became actively involved in
creating jobs and economic activity. One example is the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where the
government built reservoirs and power stations. Women were now also allowed into the government
and the administration. The goal was to get one of the family members a job. To get better control over
the economy Roosevelt got the Congress to pass a law which was called the National Recovery Act.
Its intention was to regulate prices and wages. Even though USA had adopted his theory, it was until
the postwar era Keynes theory about an active government really got approval in the industrialized
countries. Even when conservative governments were in control they kept their economies under close
surveillance. In Britain, France and Italy the postwar governments nationalized number of the

Who s Got No Game
Reflecting on the topic of Men In Relationships, Neill Korobov s article He s Got No Game (2009)
was particularly interesting to me, specifically the concept of the lovable loser. This archetype is en
vogue in a vast majority of comedic films for more than a decade. More recent examples are typified
by actors like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and Jay Baruchel, to name just a few. In spite of how prolific
this emerging masculine character has become, Korobov rightly states that this persona is unlikely to
be employed by any males other than younger white guys. Unsurprisingly, the aforementioned movie
genre is targeted towards this very demographic. This conjures questions of whether life imitates art,
or vice versa.
We know from Holt Thompson s writing that men consume their particular brand of masculinity, and
this loveable loser anti hero is no exception. Korobov s approach to understanding emerging
masculinities through discursive analysis is fascinating although observing actual human behaviour
can be considered far more accurate, the ways in which we speak about things have a certain creative
power. The things that we say off the cuff are often an accurate reflection of the culture we live in. In
Korobov s study, he explained that he did his best to create an environment where young men s
discourse could emerge naturally, but we know intuitively that such an attempt is fraught with many
difficulties which can include observer bias, impression management, and

  • 2. Baroque Music And The Renaissance Era Baroque was an interesting period of time. It was originally originated from Rome, as a way to glorify the Counter Reformation Catholic Church, and then spread beyond Italy to Spain, France, Germany, Austria, the Low Countries, and England. In Baroque musicians started to practice multiple instruments being used at the same time. As opposed to Renaissance era, Baroque art mainly worked for pope, and important ruler throughout Europe. One of the new genre of music was Opera. The aim of early opera was to reproduce elements of ancient Greek drama. Claudio Monteverdi is considered to be the creator of opera as genre. Because of the main aim of early opera to reproduce elements of ancient Greek drama, Claudio Monteverdi plots draw upon stories from classical Greek mythology. Orfeo was one of his first work in opera genre, which was is a rescue drama due to main hero rescuing his bride. From listening a short piece of it, to me it does sound like heroic drama, as the opening music sounds very encouraging, I liked it. You can clearly hear toccata to be sounded three times to show multiple use of instrumental sounds that were available to a composer. Vivaldi, Violin Concerto in E major is great example of Baroque music, best known composition in the entire repertoire. Each part is repeated at a softer dynamic level. I personally love this piece, not only because I enjoy listening to violin, but also for its tempo, alternation and contrast. Messiah, Behold, a Virgin shall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Ideas Of Victory Cities A man named Orville Simpson II has an idea to build virtual utopias, called Victory Cities. (Simpson, 1998) They are designed as cities built in the countryside, all connected through various types of transportation. There will be no crime, pollution, over population, or other everyday problems; it will be a utopia. A utopia is a place where there are no problems like death, poverty, or crime. It is perfect world (Merriam Webster.com) A Victory City will have no everyday problems involved in it. Will Victory Cities be a successful utopia, or not? One of the most important factors in a Victory City is the money system. Mr. Simpson s brilliant idea for the money system is having all citizens carry a banknote around with them. When someone ... People today don t share apartments with strangers, making it a different system than our society, but I think it is still a great idea. It will be a large part of a Victory City. Another essential element in a Victory City is transportation. Within the city, there will be only two types of transportation: elevators, and small electric cars. The high speed elevators make it possible to move around a building, from one place to another, in only five to ten minutes. The electric cars are very safe, even children can operate them, and they will prevent many accidents. Connecting Victory Cities will be larger electric cars and trains, running through tunnels underground. The transportation system is quite different than our way, as we can choose between varieties of different vehicles, and it is not allowed in a Victory City. I think it is a brilliant idea for the transportation in the city. Mr. Simpson s safe transportation system will be a major part of the city. A fourth element in a Victory City will be a food system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Britney Spears, called her 2009, forty nine show tour through the US, Canada and the UK. Perhaps, more accurately, it is not so much that the circus goes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination. According to Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak show in America, the popularity of the circus had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of audience, such as new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The exhibition of freaks had become morally incorrect. Strangely, at the turn of the twenty first century, America is revealing a renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly apparent since the Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward country folk waiting for the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city people who frequented P.T. Barnum s famous American Museum at Broadway and Ann Street in New York City. This time around, it is middle America enjoying the circus on their wide screen televisions in the privileged privacy of their dens and theater rooms. As the vast array of freaks in the ... The New Zealand army also got involved bringing heavy machinery to build a 1.5 kilometer road from the nearest highway to the construction site. Peter Jackson wrote: I knew Hobbiton needed to be warm, comfortable and feel lived in. By letting the weeds grow through the cracks and establishing hedges and little gardens a year before filming, we ended up with an incredibly real place, not just a film set (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobbiton_Movie_Set).So much detail went into creating the perfect atmosphere for the 37 Hobbit holes ,gardens and even hedges. Perspective and depth were two very important qualities in painting, yet up until the time of young Masaccio, (born Tommaso Guidi), paintings were beautiful, but seemed to just be art that hung on the wall. In Masaccio s work, rather than recede in space, the figures seem to come forward (Cole 120). The foreshortened pattern of coffers could be calculated using simple geometry (Polzer 1). Masaccio was not just an artist, but also used basic math and geometry skills to really create that realism in his works. This shows that he was also very intellectual as well as creative, and became part of another era of painting that used skills such as geometry, and not just creativity, in creating art. The Holy Trinity truly creates the illusion of Christ being crucified right in that archway, and that the viewers could just walk right in and become a part of the painting. Object oriented programs have an alternate behavior and structure when contrasted with programs created utilizing technical language. It takes after an information driven methodology and it is depends on ladder of objects and classes. Classes are only a gathering of objects that inform properties and connections and objects are elements that stores information send and get messages. Re usability can be picked up in object oriented programming by making utilization of features which is polymorphism, inheritance, encapsulation and abstraction. Issues like maintenance and reuse are explained utilizing OO approach. Although the development is done by people, testing needs to be carried out to uncover mistakes. As classes team up with one another, OO framework needs to be tested at various levels. Testing starts by investigating the OOA and OOD models. The correctness and consistency of the models are analyzed utilizing formal technical reviews and they are examined in this report. Different types of diagrams, for example, control flow graph, state transition diagram and class diagram are utilized by the test models. Different testing techniques, for example, fault based testing, scenario based testing and state based testing strategies are explained in detail. Acute Myeloid Leukemia Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a type of cancer that is defined by permeation of the bone marrow, blood, and other tissues by proliferative, clonal, abnormally differentiated, and occasionally poorly differentiated treated cells of the hematopoietic system(1). The dynamic interaction between leukemia cells and the bone marrow microenvironment is one of the characteristics of leukemia. The important components of the bone marrow environment include tumor cells, extracellular matrix, non tomur cells (fibroblasts, stromal cells, immune cells) and hypoxia(2). Studies have shown that tumor development and invasion in solid tumors are associated with angiogenesis, and recent evidence suggests that angiogenesis may be in the development of acute myeloid leukemia(12). In acute myeloid leukemia, angiogenesis directly contributes to the tumor progression by the provision of necessary factors for blast proliferation as well as through angiogenic factors(13)..significant angiogenic factors include VEGF A, BFGF, PDGF, FGF, in which among them VEGF A is the most important. Furthermore the angiogenesis, VEGF A has other functions in the progress of leukemia cells, which performs these functions by autocrine and paracrine loops. When VEGF A binds to its receptors on leukemia cells it stimulates proliferation in these cells and also increases survival by reducing apoptotic proteins (autocrine). ... However, even with these technological advancements the world is experiencing, the human body is far from safe. This paper aims to discuss a new branch in human computer interaction known as brain computer interaction to conclude on the most appropriate method, be it the non invasive electroencephalography technique or the invasive electrocorticigram technique, to heal paralysis. The reasoning behind the decision will be based on two experiments that are both used to measure whether the brain can read imaginary and real signals as well as identify the origin of these signals. These experiments both show a high rate of success yet it can be concluded that the invasive electrocorticigram technique is better due to a higher percentage of accuracy and a smaller percentage of possible errors. A select hand of people think that kids and teenagers playing role playing games are violent and could lead the kids into a troubled future, but they really are just harmless. The reasons for why role playing games like senior assassin are harless are that it isn t real killing, it doesn t involve real guns, no one gets hurt, and that it is usually set up by the school that all of the students attend. But on the other hand the people that think that it is violent have no real evidence and only say things like someone could get hurt, but from what the water, and they also say that it involves weapons but that really doesn t mean anything. The evidence for why it is harmless is because there has never been a death or killing from playing those harmless games because there is nothing wrong with them. The Reigns Of David, Hezekiah And Josiah After many centuries of being under the rule of judges, the Israelites finally ask Samuel to appoint a king, making Israel like most other nations being ruled as monarchies. This request leads to the appointing of the first king of Israel, Saul, followed by centuries of kings (1 Samuel 8 9). A large majority of these kings have been deemed to be bad kings, leaving only a small handful to be considered good. In general, these kings are given such labels for their actions and policies throughout their time of power. This paper will discuss the reigns of David, Hezekiah and Josiah and what makes them considered good kings, as well as Ahab and Manasseh and the actions that deemed them to be bad kings. Throughout the history of Israel and Judah, there have been very few kings that are classified by scholars as being good. The king in which all other kings are measured up to, and possibly the most widely known, would be David. He is actually stated to be the most fully developed character in the Hebrew bible (Coogan 255). David took reign after Saul and at this time Israel was still a united monarchy. His success as a king can be contributed to both his character and relationship with God. David s talent as a warrior can be seen when he so effortlessly conquers the massive Philistine, Goliath. Romeo s romantic love for Juliet was so influential that it drove him to kill himself, which no other kind of love had the power or impact to do. When Juliet awoke from her faked death and found Romeo s body, she was devastated and reacted to the death of her love the same way Romeo did, by killing herself. For example, after discovering Romeo s dead body, Juliet comes upon Romeo s dagger and picks it up while stating, This is thy sheath; there rust and let me die. Follow Filial Piety In Confucianism In the teachings of Confucius, there are concepts ranging from jūnzǐ to zhì, but the two key teachings that are predominant in both Analects and Menzi readings are lǐ and xiào. Lǐ refers to having certain rules to follow for proper behavior, while xiào refers to practicing filial piety with in ones family, friends, and ruler. Furthermore, an example that shows lǐ is shown in Book Ten of the Analects, showing how proper behavior has to be altered depending on the situation that one is in (Ivanhoe: 27). Proper behavior has to be shown at all times, but there are distinct situations where more respectful behavior is required. Overall, having rules for proper behavior keeps order within Confucius families, rulers and essentially the universe. • 40. Plasmid Lab Report Introduction In this investigation pUC19 plasmids were used as the vector due to its small size of 2686bp, high uptake efficiency by the host and fast replication time. Important features of this plasmid include the origin of replication and multiple cloning sites (MCS). The origin of replication allows the plasmid to replicate inside the host bacterium. The MCS is located within the lacZ gene and contains unique sites for the Xbal EcoRI restirction enzymes to cut and produce sticky ends for the CIH 1 gene to bind to. Furthermore, the pUC19 plasmid also contains an ampiccilin resistance gene so only transforemed E.coli are able to remain viable when spread on the agar plates that also has the addition of ampiccilin. The lacZ gene encodes the β galactosidase enzyme which aids in indentifying the recombinant E.coli from the non recombinant cells (Coventry University 2016). The addition of 5 bromo 4 chloro 3 indoyl β thiogalactoside (X gal) in the agar mix acts as an artifical substrate for the enzyme so it produces blue E.coli colonies when hydrolised by the β galactosidase meaning those specific colonies do not contain the plasmid with the CIH 1 insert (non recombinant E.coli) (Coventry University 2016). Isopropyl β D thiogalactoside (IPTG) an artifical transcription inducer of the lacZ gene is also added into the agar mix, binding to the repressor gene and inactivating it. The Pros And Cons Of Spanking On Children Spanking a four year old causing trouble leads to more trouble so why hit him, it only causes them to act up, but alternatives to spanking can be used upon a child to get them to behave. The right of parents to physically discipline their children is ingrained in American culture and recognized in our laws (Blum 921), but a toddler doesn t need harsh physical discipline to learn the difference between right and wrong, it doesn t need to be spanked because they are doing something they are not supposed to be doing, it just needs to be told that what they are doing is wrong and they should stop. After a while the child knows not to do certain things because they know they shouldn t do them. One very good example of an alternative to spanking is putting the child in time out. Let s say the child is misbehaving a lot, yelling across the room or throwing a tantrum because you didn t want to buy them a toy they wanted, and he or she doesn t want to listen to anything you are saying, giving the child a warning allows them to consider where their parents are coming from, but if they ignore it putting them in time out gives the child some time to reflect on what they did wrong. This works very well with young children because they have a fear of being by themselves. Some Mexican parents tell their kids that once they get home they will get a spanking because they were misbehaving, but this puts the child in a state of anxiety, no child wants to get home from a long day and get ... • 42. Compare And Contrast Macbeth And Jocasta In both Oedipus the King and Macbeth, Shakespeare and Sophocles demonstrate how Jocasta and Lady Macbeth are very similar and at the same time very different. After Jocasta and Lady Macbeth heard their husbands prophecies, their lives were changed. Jocasta and Lady Macbeth both take action and both kill themselves as a consequence. What differentiates these women is the motives behind their actions. Although Jocasta does not believe in oracles or prophecies, she does act against them, then, later on, tries to convince Oedipus that prophecies mean nothing. In the other hand, Lady Macbeth believes in prophecies and acts to make it a reality by convincing her husband, Macbeth, to kill so that he might become king faster. Both women commit horrible ... She says to herself, That I might pour my spirits in thine ear, and chastise with the valour of my tongue all that impedes thee from the golden round (1.5.23 250). Since she thought Macbeth was not capable of committing a crime, she acted as his guidance and corrupts him by motivating him to kill. she had to give him the courage he needed in order to kill the king. She talks him into it and dismisses all the thoughts that stopped him from being crowned. She also helps Macbeth physically by drugging the guards, taking back the daggers Macbeth was supposed to leave behind and smearing the guards with blood. • 46. Wheel Of Life Research Paper The Wheel of life has six main sections which represent the six realms it was designed by the Buddha in order to simplify his teachings to ordinary people. The six realms are understood as the forms of existence into which people are born according to their Karma. The realms can also be interpreted as real life situations and it also contains images that represent the three poisons (ignorance, attachment and aversion). Karma, the six realms of samsara, impermanence, nirvana and the Buddha these are contained within the wheel of life. This shows that Buddhism is a dynamic, living, religious tradition because Buddha used this to simplify his teachings to the ordinary people. • 47. John Maynard Keynes Essay What was Keynes theory and how did he influence the world| economy in the 19th century? Before the 1930s the US economy had been ruled by the forces of supply and demand and with as little government interference as possible and it seemed if everything went smooth. But in reality the system favorite the middle and the upper class, so about half of the American population did not participate in the economic growth. Wealth and purchasing power were uneven distributed and over production in industry and agriculture became a severe problem. In addition, speculation in stocks had driven the value of the stocks up to unrealistic heights. All this is said to be some of the causes for the Great Depression that reflects the 1930s. What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What was missing was purchasing power. If the workers got money then they would spend it and the money would change owner and eventually create willingness to invest. But the government had to start the process, and use money, increase the salary and take up loans even though it could lead to deficit budgets. The most important thing was to get people back at work. It is clear to see that President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the U.S. administration adopted Keynes theory, known as the General Theory , in their recovery plan, New Deal . The government became actively involved in creating jobs and economic activity. One example is the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where the government built reservoirs and power stations. Women were now also allowed into the government and the administration. The goal was to get one of the family members a job. To get better control over the economy Roosevelt got the Congress to pass a law which was called the National Recovery Act. Its intention was to regulate prices and wages. Even though USA had adopted his theory, it was until the postwar era Keynes theory about an active government really got approval in the industrialized countries. Even when conservative governments were in control they kept their economies under close surveillance. In Britain, France and Italy the postwar governments nationalized number of the ... • 49. Who s Got No Game Reflecting on the topic of Men In Relationships, Neill Korobov s article He s Got No Game (2009) was particularly interesting to me, specifically the concept of the lovable loser. This archetype is en vogue in a vast majority of comedic films for more than a decade. More recent examples are typified by actors like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and Jay Baruchel, to name just a few. In spite of how prolific this emerging masculine character has become, Korobov rightly states that this persona is unlikely to be employed by any males other than younger white guys. Unsurprisingly, the aforementioned movie genre is targeted towards this very demographic. This conjures questions of whether life imitates art, or vice versa. We know from Holt Thompson s writing that men consume their particular brand of masculinity, and this loveable loser anti hero is no exception. Korobov s approach to understanding emerging masculinities through discursive analysis is fascinating although observing actual human behaviour can be considered far more accurate, the ways in which we speak about things have a certain creative power. The things that we say off the cuff are often an accurate reflection of the culture we live in. In Korobov s study, he explained that he did his best to create an environment where young men s discourse could emerge naturally, but we know intuitively that such an attempt is fraught with many difficulties which can include observer bias, impression management, and ...
