Scottsboro Trials Research Paper
The Scottsboro Trials were the trials against nine young African American men who were falsely
accused of the rape of two white women in Scottsboro, Alabama. The men were Charlie Weems, Ozie
Powell, Clarence Norris, Olen Montgomery, Willie Roberson, Haywood Patterson, Eugene Williams,
Andrew Wright, and Leroy Wright. On a freight train, March 25, 1931, a fight began between a group
of people of white and black race. After the altercation the train made a stop in Scottsboro to turn
some of the people involved in the fight into police custody. During this stop two prostitutes (Victoria
Price and Ruby Bates) were found and were about to face prostitution charges. Several sources claim
that police officials forced the women to lie and others say

The Evolution Of Human Animals
Humans, formally known as Homo sapiens, are some of the most fascinating creatures to inhabit this
planet. We as human animals possess many traits unique to our species, but one of the most
remarkable traits is our upright posture and inherent inclination to walk on two legs. We share this rare
trait with few organisms, who even so only express limited bipedal behaviors. Human ancestors first
initiated the transition to bipedalism approximately 6 million years ago through the upright steps of
the Sahelanthropus. However, Homo erectus was the first human ancestor to express full bipedality,
which occurred only 1.9 million years ago. Some of the preceding forms of locomotion used by
human ancestors included quadrupedalism or pronograde posture, suspensory locomotion, and
knuckle walking (Watson, 2008). These forms of motion were used not only by human ancestors such
as the Australopithecus afarensis, but can also be observed in modern times in some of our close
relatives, apes and chimpanzees. This transition to bipedalism was facilitated by structural changes
comprised of an angled thigh bone, a more sturdy and broad pelvis, a wider patella, an S shaped spine,
and long femurs. The compilation of all of these adaptations allowed hominids to not only support
their entire body weight while standing upright, but efficiently take long strides, therefore allowing
them to travel greater distances. Though much is known about the implications for the transition to
bipedality, the

Essay On Animal Farm By George Orwell
An ideology is a set of opinions or beliefs of a group or an individual. Very often ideology refers to a
set of political beliefs or a set of ideas. Our ideology is our most closely held set of values and
feelings, and it acts as the filter through which we see everything and everybody. Introduction:
Description: Old Major is discussing his hate and the injustice upon the animals at Manor Farm and
his beliefs and ideology. This was the creation of Animalism or what we call Communism. Enmity:
The state or the feeling of being hostile or opposed to someone or something. Vices: Unjust or
immoral behavior. Tyrannise: Rule or treat someone cruelly or immorally Thesis: The passage is a set
of beliefs and rules made by OId Major, this greatly exemplifies a communist society because he
believes that all animals are equal or in a society, all humans are equal. In a communist society,
everyone is equal, they are paid the same wage, treated the same and so on. We can see the similarities
between the actions in the book compared to actions in the real world, the animals rebel against the
unjust humans and will no longer work for them and in the real world, the workers rebel against the
bourgeoisie and unite everyone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Main Ideas/Themes: Equality: In the passage, Old Major mentions that no animal must tyrannize one
another and respect each other because they are all equal. Hatred: Old Major mentions multiple times
his hatred towards man, he says that man is an enemy and while fighting man they must never become
one, such as wearing clothes, drinking alcohol or smoking

Energy Systems In Football
The fitness components mentioned previously use different energy systems throughout the game.
Energy whilst playing football can be derived from two metabolic processes: aerobic and anaerobic.
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is necessary for all muscle contraction however this store will only last
for a limited period of time, as such other systems must be used during football to compensate for this.
Footballers use these energy systems in varying degrees relative to their position.
Bloomfield, et al calculated that a footballer s energy expenditure can be determined by the purposeful
movement (PM) of the player; relative to the position this PM may be a series of movements. A table
detailing the Bloomfield Movement Classification can be seen ... Show more content on

These sprints are fuelled by the ATP PC system and the anaerobic glycolysis system which use up the
creatine phosphate (CP). It allows for up to approximately ±12 seconds of maximum effort ring these
sprints the supply of ATP is quickly used up, as such CP donates phosphate for the synthesis of ATP
through the creatine kinase reaction (Bangsbo 1994). Footballers will also use glycogen in the form of
carbohydrates when the intensity is high an is prolonged. Glycogen is stored in the muscle and is
broken down anaerobically, however this is a finite store also and Bangsbo (2007) found that the
muscle glycogen store is depleted by half time.
Energy expenditure also depends on the formation and tactical strategies, depending on whether the
team are playing a defensive or attacking style.
Serie A teams, for example, are notoriously defensive minded and perform more short passes during
the match than the opposing team of lesser calibre, according to Rampinini et al. Hence, a better team
will have more possession and thus will perform more less intensity running than the opposing team.
Rampinini et al also showed that the number of short passes decreased in the second half with respect
to the first, which is probably due to

Seasonal Affective Disorder Case Studies
Peter, Another great post, great detailed writing that offers explanation for Seasonal Affective Disorder
(SAD). Because your post combined with mine, more or less covered the majority of information, I
am taking the discussion in an entirely different direction to present my hypothesis regarding a factor
that might have played into the SAD diagnosis of the case study. I am purposing that perhaps the
newscaster was spending less time in the studio and more time outside, traveling, taping her stories in
advance to be shown later. Field reporting would be the correct term. I looked at CNN and found that
the average newscaster is on air three hours per day, in the studio (CNN, 2005). Then I looked the
lighting that is used in news studios and used for SAD light therapy, in most cases high CRI (color
rendering index) lamps are used in TV studios and in light boxes used for light therapy (LightTech

Continuing my research, I tried to find if news reporters and anchors suffer with SAD, and found
nothing. I then found an article on lumen and lux. Lumen is the amount of light given off from the
light source and lux is the amount that reaches the person. The lights that are used in light boxes, for
medical phototherapy are 10,000 lux [the same as daylight]. And SAD clients sit relatively close to the
light box. In TV studios, even though the lights are the same lumen, they are on the average only 1000
lux. My theory is not

The Meat Industry
The most crucial player in the expansion of the animal production industries is the capitalist. The
antagonists are Smithfield, Tyson, Hormel, JBS, and Cargill which posses a monopoly over the meat
industry. After President Theodore Roosevelt read the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, he
exclaimed, Radical action must be taken to do away with the efforts of arrogant and selfish greed on
the part of the capitalist (Sinclair). These players can decide the price of meat and whether or not costs
are high or low. The value of safety to these corporations means very little to the animal and the
workers. The animals are confined into tight facilities, pumped with antibiotics and growth hormones,

Incident Command System
When an incident occurs within the United States, the Incident Command System (ICS) is brought
into action. The ICS process serves as a management system designed to provide an effective incident
management structure by way of combining facilities, personnel, equipment, operating procedures,
communications and operational standards. The ICS is not a flawless system, however its flexible
design allows for adaptation and change. During Hurricane Sandy, the ICS was implemented with
mixed results. More than 28,000 personnel were utilized for the response and recovery efforts from

The ICS focuses on five primary functional responsibilities: command, operations, planning, logistics,
Intelligence Investigations, finance and administration for emergency response (FEMA 2016). The
formation of the ICS concept harkens back to 1968 and has gone through a number of changes since
that time.
During Hurricane Sandy response, the five functional areas of the ICS can be examined so as to
illustrate their roles and how they were employed. The first role to be examined is the command
function. Within the role of the ICS, each person in the response reports to only one supervisor thereby
limited the possibility of conflicting directives. Prior to landfall of Hurricane Sandy, FEMA had pre
positioned hundreds of personnel, numerous generators, hundreds of thousands of gallons of water,
hundreds of thousands of packaged meals, cots and blankets. The personnel deployed included liaison
teams and Incident Management Assistance Teams (IMATs), which helped prepare the command
leadership and operations cores. The supplies laid on pre hurricane helped serve the functional
responsibility area of logistics. Logistics also was responsible for providing facilities and services

The Effects Of Gambling Addiction On The Brain
Shen, Glombiewski, 2013).
Biological Factors Addictions are known to activate the culmination of sites in the brain that make up
the reward centre which is responsible for feeling happiness or pleasure through the release of
dopamine (Linden, 2011). After repeated exposures, receptors in the brain build a tolerance towards
the addiction meaning that there is a need for increased stimulation to provide a similar high .
Eventually behaviour patterns develop so as to avoid withdrawal. At this point addiction is occurring
and symptoms should be observable. Like other addictions, it is believed that IAD causes a release of
dopamine in the nucleus accumbens (Ko et al., 2009). It must then be discussed why certain
behaviours or substances activate the reward centre resulting in addiction. It has been agreed that,
much similar to gambling addiction, Internet addiction functions through a variable ratio
reinforcement schedule (Young, 2011). However, it is also is theorised that those who use the Internet
or other similar technologies experience various rewards that are unpredictable in nature, depending
on the application they are using (such as: video games, emails, social media, pornography, message
boards and texting). Paired with the mood altering content of the application the reward activation is
increased. Examples of mood altering content include video games (social inclusion, achieving tasks
unobtainable in real life), pornography (sexual gratification), and online

There are several limitations to the dietary assessment, that could affect my diet quality both
positively and negatively:
1) According to my family s weekly grocery plan, the food consumption all 4 food categories is quite

sample size is too small for me to make a conclusion about my overall long term food habit.
2) Due to the flexibility of my schedule, the lunch and dinner times vary. This could probably worsen

higher chance of choosing energy dense foods.

Franchising Subway Essay
Franchising Subway Franchising has attracted some 34,000 people in the UK to invest in their future
in self employment. Here are 15 reasons why franchises offer an attractive business opportunity. 1.
Established brand value. Prior to launching a franchise, the franchisor has developed and established
attractive and meaningful branding for the operation, and as the network of franchisees expands the
national recognition of this brand grows. When a franchisee enters into a mature franchisee network,
they will benefit from the national name recognition the brand has built when it comes to their own

The franchisee can enter into self employment confident that they are well prepared to tackle the

competitiveness and profitability is a complicated process, often involving some trial and error that
can prolong the development period of the franchisees business before break even. The franchisor will
be able to help franchisees set the right pricing levels from day one to ensure they are not under or
over quoting, maximising the profits their business generates. 7. Recommended suppliers or direct
supply. The franchisor will be able to offer assistance in sourcing the products and services that
franchisees will require to operate their business, and in some cases will even act as the franchisees
main supplier. 8. Ongoing training. Whether the franchisees initial training is one week or two months,
they won t be expected to absorb everything immediately. Many franchisors stagger their initial
training to help franchisees learn while they are on the job . This commitment to ongoing training also
enables established franchisees to benefit from improvements in the franchisor s training provision,
and eases the introduction of new products or services to the business. 9. Continual support. Having

In today s American society, many individuals have developed unhealthy eating habits. A study done
in 2012 states fifty two percent of polled Americans thought that doing their taxes was easier than
trying to figure out how to eat healthy. There are many things that people look at as hassles to healthy
eating rather than looking at the big benefits healthy eating has on someone. Many people think of
these issues when they think of healthy eating the cost, the availability of the food, that it is hard , they

Nate Miyaki gives an example, Of nine training sessions and thirty five meals or snacks geared toward
body composition improvement a week, that works out to about 20% accounted to physical activity
and 80% accounted to diet. Participating in regular exercise is very important but does not mean
someone should eat unhealthy. Eating unhealthy causes damage to an individuals insides. When
someone eats healthy they find themselves less tired and they also find that they have less health
issues than someone that eats unhealthy. When an individual eats better they feel better. Put good in,
get good out. So the better an individual eats the better, the more energy they have, the more
motivation they have, and they feel better as a whole. Within a week of eating healthy an individual
can begin to feel better on the inside. When an individual makes the change to eating healthily they
will notice that they feel better and have more energy. There are more ways to eat healthier without
having to diet at all.
A great food guide for an athlete to follow is the Canada s Food Guide. According to the guide an

Kid Kustomer Eric Schlosser Analysis
Paper on Kid Kustomer by Eric Schlosser It is easier to influence someone who cannot comprehend
that they are being influenced. This is ultimately Eric Schlosser s main argument in his case against
the mass marketing scheme aimed at children. Our subconscious influences our decisions more than
we are probably aware. As we grow older, we recognize this; children, however, do not possess the
same capacity to discern this as we do and so, their naivety is exploited by marketing companies.
These companies make their ads to appeal to the factors their target audience desperately (albeit
unconsciously) seek. Whether it be by creating a sense of belonging, exclusiveness, and contentedness
to the customers, their tactics are subtle enough to lure a wide array of people. Due to the fact that I
myself was once a kid, I can personally attest Schlosser s claim that, [kids have a] fundamental need
for status and belonging (2002). I did not have a need per se for the hot new trend back in grade ...

Whether you are 5 or 55, there is always going to be some group that you will want to be a part of.
The marketing giants picked up on this tendency and capitalized it. As mentioned in Kid Kustomers ,
the creation of Disney s Mickey Mouse Club and its rise in the 1980s and 1990s expanded the
horizons of traditional marketing. Kids now received personalized messages catered to them
(Schlosser, 2002). These messages helped to link the kids to their favourite brand and forge a
connection. If anything, the kids probably thought Mickey Mouse was actually messaging them and
probably ran around, smugly telling all their friends the Mickey Mouse had messaged them and that
they were friends. Companies like McDonalds did not use the same approach as Disney, but theirs was
just as effective. In fact, McDonalds introduction of collectible toys not only attracted eager kids who

The Human Nature Of Running Away By Robert Swan
The Human Nature of Running Away
Robert Swan.
Our world is a dying one. There are many factors contributing to it, and one
might say otherwise, but the aforementioned fact remains the same. With the numerous advancements
in technology taking place today, the different ways of damaging our world has also increased. This
damage to our world can be environmental, as well as political and religious.
When Robert Swan said the words mentioned above, it was from the point of view of an
environmentalist. Robert Swan is a polar explorer who was the first man to walk on both the North
and South Poles unsupported. He has also gone on numerous other expeditions and is considered an
active environmentalist and one of the world s top motivational speakers. He is also a UN Goodwill
Ambassador for Youth and a Special Envoy to the Director General of UNESCO. At the moment,
Swan is trying to drum up support from the Antarctic and prevent a future fight that might take place
for its resources
It is human nature to run away from problems and put them off to another day. It is something that can
be observed in real life and is done by almost everyone. In fact, I did it myself by not writing this
essay until the last moment. Whenever we humans are facing a problem, we do two things. We run
away from it, not wanting to get our hands dirty, but firmly believe that it will get solved, somehow
and by someone apart from us. The last member of the Pandora s Box,
hope , is considered to be one of

Muscle Moment Lab Report
The purpose of the experiment in lab 5 was to see how force and EMG of the muscles would be
affected when the wrist angles were changed. In order to determine how much the myosin and actin
were interacting and how many times the muscle cell was stimulated we had to measure the force.
When the wrist was fully flexed at 90 degrees the muscle was more contracted. Therefore, causing the
sarcomere to be pushed closer together and the zone of overlap to be larger. This causes the myosin
and actin to be on top of each other making it more difficult to have a quality cross bridge formation.
This makes it harder to stimulate the muscle. As we continued to squeeze at different angles the force
would get greater as the angle became more flat. We had the

people took to the streets to pay their respects to Giuseppe Verdi. They were marching to the Va,

Considering his cultural status in Italy and Europe at the time of his death, the funeral was attended by
dignitaries from all over Europe. Verdi was a man of determined anti clerical spirit; he was a liberal
and a romantic. He was a proud and patriotic man; however, his musical intentions seem to differ from
the contrived tales and political persuasions of the supporters of the Risorgimento. Verdi was not

Definition Of A Comedy
Comedy to me is something that you see or hear that makes people laugh. What I find funny are
impersonations, things that are expected or sarcastic jokes. Impersonations can mean the way someone
talks, walks or acts. I personally find some accents to be hilarious and if someone imitates the accent,
it will just crack me up., If its someone famous that everyone knows and if that person talks funny or
walks funny, then it will cause other people to laugh because they know its true. An expected joke is
when, someone tells a joke but you already know how its going to end so you start laughing before the
joker finishes the joke. Sarcasm is probably the best jokes to me. Here s one: A couple walks in a

know because I can relate to that. A person who cannot relate to this would probably not find it funny
because they don t realize what so funny about it. Even if the person could relate, they may think that
the joke is disrespectful especially if they were the subject being joked about. In this case it would be
the mothers. The thing I love about my two favorite comedians is the way the tell the joke. They don t
just tell jokes, they put on a whole show by the way they talk, act and laugh.

Merriam Webster defines honesty as being, free of deceit and untruthfulness; sincere. Some people
view honesty as the foremost virtue in a trustworthy person. However, this world is tainted with many
who deceive others to be revered, although when you turn around they will be divergent from your
views typically lying to benefit themselves at the expense of your state. A common term for these
people is a fake person or a snake . It is remarkably difficult to find a truly honest man, and when

Homeless Population And The Homeless Families
This paper will talk about the homeless population and the homeless families. It will explore the
multiple causes of family homelessness and the struggle has on homeless family life. The three main
reasons for homeless families within America are the following: 1) the lack of affordable housing, 2)
low income 3) Inadequate federal subsidy. This paper will also give possible solutions to family
homelessness and improvement plans for the future.
Home is where the heart is. Pliny the Elder
We have come dangerously close to accepting the homeless situation as a problem that we just can t
solve. Linda Lingle
The McKinney Homeless Assistance Act of 1987 defined a homeless person as an individual who
lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate night time residence or a person who resides in a shelter, welfare
hotel, transitional program or place not ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation, such as
streets, cars, movie theaters, abandoned buildings, etc. Resent surveys conducted in the U.S. have
confirmed that the homeless population in America is extremely diverse and includes representatives
from all segments of society, including: the different gander, social class, color and age. The diversity
among people that are homeless reflects how difficult it is to generalize the causes of homelessness
and the needs of homeless people. Robert Rosenheck M.D., the author of Special Populations of
Homeless Americans, explains the importance of studying homelessness based on

Analysis Of Arm Wrestling With My Father By Brad Manning
Is society s effect on a man s relationship with their child so significant that it causes a father to only
love their children physically rather than emotionally ? In Brad Manning s essay Arm Wrestling With
My Father, this is the message that is conveyed to the audience. In his writing, Manning explores the
evolving relationship he has with his father, both physical and emotional, and acknowledges the
gradual changes between them over the years. Through reflection on their father son bond, Manning
highlights the societal expectation of the father to be the dominant figure in the relationship along with
the seemingly innate desire from the son for a father to be this powerful figure. Only when he ages
and the roles begin to change does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this missing attribute, there was always a disconnect between the two just as there are in
many other father son relationships. This lack of emotional connection sticks out in my mind the most,
as my brother and I have both been lucky enough to experience pure love and affection from our
father regardless of the situation. For instance, one personal incident from years ago comes to mind.
My brother Michael, who is now graduated and in college, was always considered to be a nerd in high
school. Although he was a member of the school swim team, academics were always his number one
priority throughout his high school career. I recall one day my parents and Michael coming home from
a swim meet clearly distressed. Earlier that day, a mother of one of my brother s peers had said that
my father didn t love my brother because he wasn t athletic enough, he was only smart. My father,
who is a very outspoken man, responded with a few choice words for the woman and went on with his
day, but my brother remained visibly upset. That night, my parents sat both my brother and I down
and proclaimed that they would always love us no matter the situation, or any of our strengths and
weaknesses their love was unconditional. Although the situation meant nothing to me at the time,
years later it is so special. My father was always a significant part of my brother and I s childhood,

Letters Of Abelard And Heloise Essay
To begin, the Letters of Abelard and Heloise were originally formulated by the mind of Abelard,
sometime around the year 1128 in Latin (not to published until around 1616 in Paris then re appearing
in England in 1728. From there, being multiply translated and reformatted until it was officially
published in 1722.) It is a re telling of the story of his love affair at 37 as a highly educated and
revered Professor at Logic and Canon Notre Dame; having lived an intellectual and passion derived
life before and with the young mistress Heloise who was quite possibly the last student of his to be
educated to a higher level he discovers a side he has never known to himself, only felt.

The source ( The Letters of Abelard and Heloise ) was created as a series of love letters or
explanations to Heloise and a friend of Abelard. In a letter to his friend, Abelard says: The true story
of these episodes I now want you to know from the facts, in proper order, instead of from hearsay.
What he means is that he would like the truth of his miss fortune that he caused to be heard from
Abelard himself first instead of from hearsay (or other people.)
Equally important, the usefulness of this source for a historian trying to learn about a particular subject
is an adequate amount. The historian would get the feel for the people, the time, and the context of
some morals from this piece and hopefully get a better understanding of what it would have been like
to live then and of that time. You must keep in mind though that this particular piece was created quite
some time ago and is largely dated. Having been passed through multiple generations, people,
lifestyles and translators the story itself could have been modified or manipulated in some way that
may make it complicated to determine what can actually be useful in relating to certain tangible

Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince
Machiavelli wrote The Prince in 16th century. His methods of acquiring and maintaining rule over
people are not relevant in today s modern American society. There are many principles that are still
true in politics today, but the methods of ruling can no longer be used in American society today.
Niccolò Machiavelli was born in Florence, Italy in 1496. He was a diplomat in Italy s Florentine
Republic for fourteen years. This was during the Medici family exile, and when they returned,
Machiavelli was dismissed and shortly imprisoned. After he was released, he wrote The Prince. It was
written as a handbook for politicians to follow and is considered the most famous book on politics
ever written. Machiavelli is known as the father of modern political theory. He died in 1527 in
Florence, Italy.
In The Prince, Machiavelli describes the different methods of acquiring the power over a state. The
first he mentions is if the principalities are acquired through one s own arms and virtue. They acquire
their principality with difficulty but hold it with ease. (23) The second, Of New Principalities That Are
Acquired by Others Arms and Fortune. (25) Someone gives these to the prince either for money or by
the favor of whoever gave it. Those who become princes from private individual solely by fortune
become so with little trouble, but maintain themselves with much. (25) The next, Of Those Who Have
Attained a Principality through Crimes. (34) Acquired through crime, the states

How Large Is The Current U.S. Budget Deficit And How Has
How large is the current U.S. budget deficit and how has it changed over the last few years? The
projected Unites States budget deficit for fiscal year 2017 is a staggering $559 billion dollars. A
budget deficit occurs when the government spends more than it receives in revenue over a specific
period of time (Schiller, Hill, Wall, 2013, p. 251). Currently the US government runs on a fiscal year
(FY) which begins October 1st each year. The projected rate of 2017 s deficit is 17.6 % of expected
revenues of $3.4 trillion which is only slightly lower than FY 2016. The 2016 deficit represented 3.2
% of gross domestic product (GDP) rising from 2.4% in FY 2015 (Congressional Budget Office,
2017). If the average American household ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Food, tents, muskets, and ammunition were not cheap, and Congress was failing to meet these new
expenditures. They went so far as to print new money, our first look at currency manipulation
(Schiller, Hill, Wall, 2013). The Founding Fathers would not be able to grasp that our nation never has
never been debt free. At the time of this writing the US National debt was $19,975,211,704, and
changed over the time of typing in the figure (Federal Reserve, 2017). National debt is accumulated
debt of the federal government (Schiller, Hill, Wall, 2013, p. 261). This astronomical figure is difficult
to fully grasp. To break it down in simple terms; that amounts to $61,55 per US citizen, and $166,775
per tax payer. With the median income at just over $30,000, there is simply no way the nation can pay
the debt off by raising taxes alone (Federal Reserve, 2017). At issue, who owns this debt? The US
Citizen does, strangely enough at 65.6%. Social Security owns roughly 16%, other federal entities
own 13% and the Federal Reserve owns an additional 12%. The other 34.4% of US debt is owned by
other countries and foreign interests (Patton, 2014). This could potentially lead to national security
issues if the foreign investors decided to cash in Treasury securities all at once. That is not likely as
the United States is still one of the most secure places to invest. In addition, being arguably the most
powerful military on

Sustainable Development Conceptual Framework in Tourism Industry Context in Taiwan: Resource
Based View
Chih Wen Wu , National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan
Abstract: The purpose of this research was to develop and test a conceptual framework for sustainable
development in tourism industry context to address the integration of social, economic, and ecological
elements of sustainable development and the contextual nature of sustainable development. Resource
based view theory was used to model the driving force, state and response indicators of sustainability

The concept grew out of dissatisfaction with entrenched policies of continuous economic growth and
unequal distribution of benefits and costs ( Bramwell and Lane, 1993; Hardy, Beeton, and
Pearson,2002). Similarly, sustainable development for tourism industry is found to be difficult to
define( Swarbrooke,1999), The term could be defined as a form of tourism sustained over a period
time(Butler,1999). Accordingly, tourism industry that meets the needs of today s tourists without
taking away from the future generations the resource necessary to fulfill their own needs. Thus, the
controversy exists over a definition for sustainable tourism development.
The most widely quoted definition of sustainable development is the one provided by the
Brundtland Report, the report says that sustainable development is development that meets the needs
of present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, ( World
Commission on Environment and Development,1987,p.43). According to Wall(1997) and
Hunter(1995), two important ingredients are included in this statement: human needs and
environmental limitations. For the World Commission, the major objective of development is to
satisfy human needs and aspirations for a better quality of life for all people. In other words,
sustainable development means long term economic sustainability within a framework of long term
ecological sustainability plus

Sex Change In The Bees And The Birds
In The Bees and the Birds chapter of Biological Exuberance, Bruce Bagemihl describes transsexuality
in animals as physically becoming the opposite sex (Bagemihl 37). There are a variety of terms to
describe transsexuality in animals, for instance, protogynous sex change is the transition from a
female to male, while protandrous sex change is the transition from a male to female (Bagemihl 40).
Males who have not undergone a sex change are primary males, while those who have are secondary.
These transitions are very common among different species of animals, and some examples are the
Parrotfish and the Magenta Dottyback. These dramatic changes can be due to the effect of chemicals,
physical maturity, or environmental factors.

2013). This is very rare as it only occurs in 25 species, and most species are only either protogynous
or protandrous. To confirm the bidirectionally sex changing abilities in the Magenta Dottyback, the
Kuwamura et al. conducted an experiment where they either released same sex individuals at a site or
removed them. A total of 9 males and 21 females were collected from Patch A, while 18 males and 50
females were collected from Patch B (Kuwamura et al. 2013). They were able to confirm their
hypothesis with a total of six sex changes. The researchers suggested that sex changes could be the
result of an environmental factor. In the Magenta Dottyback, males are generally larger, while females
are smaller. If there are a group of males, some males will have more mating opportunities than others
because they are larger. In that cases, smaller males may find it more advantageous to because a
female because females are generally smaller, and the same goes for female to male transitions

Should Welfare Be More Charity Impact On Homeless, Hungry,...
Driving to the mall one Saturday morning, there was an older gentleman on the corner with his small
family, Wife and young son, with a cardboard sign that read, HOMELESS, NEED FOOD, MONEY
FOR DOCTOR BILLS. The man was rugged and could obviously use help. His right leg had been
amputated, so he definitely needed assistance. One may wonder in this instance, Where are the
charities? The groups are nowhere to be found. There should be more charity impact on homeless,
hungry, and such because of instances like this. For poor or less fortunate families, philanthropic
groups should finance programs such as medical assistance, housing, and food. First, philanthropic
groups should finance programs for medical assistance. While most middle and upper class workers
can afford health care for themselves and their children, the lower class families cannot even fathom
the thought of being committed to a nowadays expensive payment because when they go out and look
for insurance, the monthly payments exceed the amount that the family pays for its rent in two months
time. There are many charity foundations that can help those unable to afford insurance, but one in
specific is the Charity Care Policy at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. It is a
local charity organization that benefits the less fortunate. If a patient is below one hundred percent of
the poverty guidelines, which is he or she is eligible to have his or her medical expenses taken care of

The Editing Of Little Miss Sunshine
The editing of Little Miss Sunshine is presented very smoothly. The montage introduces us to the six
main characters and shows us a glimpse into each one s life. This is effective in communicating to the
audience by allowing them to feel a part of each characters life and quickly provide a backstory of
each character. The film also presents some creative juxtapositions in the editing. The opening credits
of the film is when the montage begins. We start by seeing Olive (Abigail Breslin) watching a beauty
pageant, the scene then cuts to show her father Richard (Greg Kinnear) presenting his nine steps. Next
is her brother Dwayne (Paul Dano), then her grandpa Edwin (Alan Arkin) doing cocaine and her
mother Sheryl (Toni Collette) smoking a cigarette.

  • 3. The Evolution Of Human Animals Humans, formally known as Homo sapiens, are some of the most fascinating creatures to inhabit this planet. We as human animals possess many traits unique to our species, but one of the most remarkable traits is our upright posture and inherent inclination to walk on two legs. We share this rare trait with few organisms, who even so only express limited bipedal behaviors. Human ancestors first initiated the transition to bipedalism approximately 6 million years ago through the upright steps of the Sahelanthropus. However, Homo erectus was the first human ancestor to express full bipedality, which occurred only 1.9 million years ago. Some of the preceding forms of locomotion used by human ancestors included quadrupedalism or pronograde posture, suspensory locomotion, and knuckle walking (Watson, 2008). These forms of motion were used not only by human ancestors such as the Australopithecus afarensis, but can also be observed in modern times in some of our close relatives, apes and chimpanzees. This transition to bipedalism was facilitated by structural changes comprised of an angled thigh bone, a more sturdy and broad pelvis, a wider patella, an S shaped spine, and long femurs. The compilation of all of these adaptations allowed hominids to not only support their entire body weight while standing upright, but efficiently take long strides, therefore allowing them to travel greater distances. Though much is known about the implications for the transition to bipedality, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our ideology is our most closely held set of values and feelings, and it acts as the filter through which we see everything and everybody. Introduction: Description: Old Major is discussing his hate and the injustice upon the animals at Manor Farm and his beliefs and ideology. This was the creation of Animalism or what we call Communism. Enmity: The state or the feeling of being hostile or opposed to someone or something. Vices: Unjust or immoral behavior. Tyrannise: Rule or treat someone cruelly or immorally Thesis: The passage is a set of beliefs and rules made by OId Major, this greatly exemplifies a communist society because he believes that all animals are equal or in a society, all humans are equal. In a communist society, everyone is equal, they are paid the same wage, treated the same and so on. We can see the similarities between the actions in the book compared to actions in the real world, the animals rebel against the unjust humans and will no longer work for them and in the real world, the workers rebel against the bourgeoisie and unite everyone. ... • 6. Energy Systems In Football The fitness components mentioned previously use different energy systems throughout the game. Energy whilst playing football can be derived from two metabolic processes: aerobic and anaerobic. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is necessary for all muscle contraction however this store will only last for a limited period of time, as such other systems must be used during football to compensate for this. Footballers use these energy systems in varying degrees relative to their position. Bloomfield, et al calculated that a footballer s energy expenditure can be determined by the purposeful movement (PM) of the player; relative to the position this PM may be a series of movements. A table detailing the Bloomfield Movement Classification can be seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These sprints are fuelled by the ATP PC system and the anaerobic glycolysis system which use up the creatine phosphate (CP). It allows for up to approximately ±12 seconds of maximum effort ring these sprints the supply of ATP is quickly used up, as such CP donates phosphate for the synthesis of ATP through the creatine kinase reaction (Bangsbo 1994). Footballers will also use glycogen in the form of carbohydrates when the intensity is high an is prolonged. Glycogen is stored in the muscle and is broken down anaerobically, however this is a finite store also and Bangsbo (2007) found that the muscle glycogen store is depleted by half time. Energy expenditure also depends on the formation and tactical strategies, depending on whether the team are playing a defensive or attacking style. Serie A teams, for example, are notoriously defensive minded and perform more short passes during the match than the opposing team of lesser calibre, according to Rampinini et al. Hence, a better team will have more possession and thus will perform more less intensity running than the opposing team. Rampinini et al also showed that the number of short passes decreased in the second half with respect to the first, which is probably due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Seasonal Affective Disorder Case Studies Peter, Another great post, great detailed writing that offers explanation for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Because your post combined with mine, more or less covered the majority of information, I am taking the discussion in an entirely different direction to present my hypothesis regarding a factor that might have played into the SAD diagnosis of the case study. I am purposing that perhaps the newscaster was spending less time in the studio and more time outside, traveling, taping her stories in advance to be shown later. Field reporting would be the correct term. I looked at CNN and found that the average newscaster is on air three hours per day, in the studio (CNN, 2005). Then I looked the lighting that is used in news studios and used for SAD light therapy, in most cases high CRI (color rendering index) lamps are used in TV studios and in light boxes used for light therapy (LightTech LightSources, 2016). ... The lights that are used in light boxes, for medical phototherapy are 10,000 lux [the same as daylight]. And SAD clients sit relatively close to the light box. • 12. The Effects Of Gambling Addiction On The Brain Shen, Glombiewski, 2013). Biological Factors Addictions are known to activate the culmination of sites in the brain that make up the reward centre which is responsible for feeling happiness or pleasure through the release of dopamine (Linden, 2011). After repeated exposures, receptors in the brain build a tolerance towards the addiction meaning that there is a need for increased stimulation to provide a similar high . Eventually behaviour patterns develop so as to avoid withdrawal. At this point addiction is occurring and symptoms should be observable. Like other addictions, it is believed that IAD causes a release of dopamine in the nucleus accumbens (Ko et al., 2009). It must then be discussed why certain behaviours or substances activate the reward centre resulting in addiction. It has been agreed that, much similar to gambling addiction, Internet addiction functions through a variable ratio reinforcement schedule (Young, 2011). However, it is also is theorised that those who use the Internet or other similar technologies experience various rewards that are unpredictable in nature, depending on the application they are using (such as: video games, emails, social media, pornography, message boards and texting). When someone eats healthy they find themselves less tired and they also find that they have less health issues than someone that eats unhealthy. When an individual eats better they feel better. • 18. Kid Kustomer Eric Schlosser Analysis Paper on Kid Kustomer by Eric Schlosser It is easier to influence someone who cannot comprehend that they are being influenced. This is ultimately Eric Schlosser s main argument in his case against the mass marketing scheme aimed at children. Our subconscious influences our decisions more than we are probably aware. As we grow older, we recognize this; children, however, do not possess the same capacity to discern this as we do and so, their naivety is exploited by marketing companies. These companies make their ads to appeal to the factors their target audience desperately (albeit unconsciously) seek. Whether it be by creating a sense of belonging, exclusiveness, and contentedness to the customers, their tactics are subtle enough to lure a wide array of people. Due to the fact that I myself was once a kid, I can personally attest Schlosser s claim that, [kids have a] fundamental need for status and belonging (2002). Kids now received personalized messages catered to them (Schlosser, 2002). These messages helped to link the kids to their favourite brand and forge a connection. If anything, the kids probably thought Mickey Mouse was actually messaging them and probably ran around, smugly telling all their friends the Mickey Mouse had messaged them and that they were friends. • 19. The Human Nature Of Running Away By Robert Swan The Human Nature of Running Away Robert Swan. Our world is a dying one. There are many factors contributing to it, and one might say otherwise, but the aforementioned fact remains the same. With the numerous advancements in technology taking place today, the different ways of damaging our world has also increased. This damage to our world can be environmental, as well as political and religious. When Robert Swan said the words mentioned above, it was from the point of view of an environmentalist. Robert Swan is a polar explorer who was the first man to walk on both the North and South Poles unsupported. He has also gone on numerous other expeditions and is considered an active environmentalist and one of the world s top motivational speakers. He is also a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Youth and a Special Envoy to the Director General of UNESCO. At the moment, Swan is trying to drum up support from the Antarctic and prevent a future fight that might take place for its resources It is human nature to run away from problems and put them off to another day. It is something that can be observed in real life and is done by almost everyone. In fact, I did it myself by not writing this essay until the last moment. Whenever we humans are facing a problem, we do two things. We run away from it, not wanting to get our hands dirty, but firmly believe that it will get solved, somehow and by someone apart from us. When the wrist was fully flexed at 90 degrees the muscle was more contracted. Therefore, causing the sarcomere to be pushed closer together and the zone of overlap to be larger. There are many principles that are still true in politics today, but the methods of ruling can no longer be used in American society today. Niccolò Machiavelli was born in Florence, Italy in 1496. He was a diplomat in Italy s Florentine Republic for fourteen years. This was during the Medici family exile, and when they returned, Machiavelli was dismissed and shortly imprisoned. The US Citizen does, strangely enough at 65.6%. Social Security owns roughly 16%, other federal entities own 13% and the Federal Reserve owns an additional 12%. The other 34.4% of US debt is owned by other countries and foreign interests (Patton, 2014).
