• Copies of relevant certificates/marklists
• Transcripts of standardized tests such as GATE/ TOEFL Etc
• Reference lists/letter of recommendation
• Work portfolio if needed

3. Cover Letter
• A letter send along with your resume to explain why
you are interested in and qualified for the job
• Used to provide an insight into your skills and
experience and get the prospective interested
employer enough to go through your resume
• It is a formal letter

4. Types of cover letters
• Application letter: to respond to
a job advertisement
• Prospecting letter: To enquire
about possibility of getting a
position in the firm
• Networking letter: To solicit
help or assistance in finding a job

7. Bio-data, Resume and CV
• In general thinking the meaning of word Resume, CV and
Biodata are same.
• One must aware of using these word to avoid negative
impression to the interviewer
• Resume, CV and Bio-data are the proverbial foot in the door.
Done correctly, it can give you the opportunity to move
beyond.

9. Bio- data
• Means "Biographical data" is defined as one's life and
work experiences.
• The main focus on personal attributes like date of birth,
religion, sex, race, nationality, PAN, passport,
permanent and temporary residence, martial status,
hobbies, height, weight, hair/skin/eye color, and a
photo etc.

most likely future behaviours based on an individual’s prior
learning history.
• Bio-data is generally used in south Asia like India,
Pakistan, Bangladesh etc.
• In India bio-data is used for defense jobs, government
jobs, or when applying for research grants etc

13. CV (CURRICULUM VITAE)
CV means "course of life" i.e; the course of one's life.
A curriculum vitae is a detailed history of ones career
and education
CV's are longer than resume as it more emphasis on
completeness of one details.

14. A CV documents career objective, educational and academic details,
technical skill sets, strengths and weaknesses, academic honours
and awards etc.
A curriculum vitae should always be accompanied by a cover letter.
A CV is preferred option for fresh graduates, people looking for a career
change, and those applying for academic positions

• A good Resume contain a summary of academic and
professional qualifications, professional and voluntary
experiences, achievements, accomplishments etc.
• Most applicants just highlight the experiences and the skill
sets with project works in the resume.
Resume is more applicable for middle and senior level job
where experiences and skill sets get more preference than
academic qualifications.

18. There are generally two types of resume
(i) Reverse chronological resume, the work experience is
sorted chronologically on basis of number of years served in
an organization. And
(ii) Functional resume, the main focus is given on the
require skill sets for an organization.

• Proper formatting
• Convert to pdf if other formats

• Have a consistent system for

• Completeness- It should convey all facts required by the audience.
• Conciseness- convey in least possible words without forgoing the other
C’s of communication
• Consideration-implies “stepping into the shoes of others”
• Clarity-clarity of thoughts and ideas enhances the meaning of message
• Concreteness-supported with specific facts and figures.
• Courtesy-taking into consideration both viewpoints as well as feelings of
the receiver of the message.
• Correctness-The message is exact, correct and well-timed.
