What Does Zno Nanoparticles Exhibit High Toxicity Against...
ZnO is an inorganic metal oxide with Wurtzite structure. ZnO nanoparticles have been extensively
studied in the field of catalysis, paints, cosmetics, solar cells, gas sensors and food packaging
materials [1 6]. It is due to their ease of preparation in different morphologies, low cost, UV shielding
properties, large surface to volume ratio, chemically alterable physical properties. The effect of zinc
oxide nanoparticles on sex hormones and cholesterol in rat has also been reported [7]. Literature
shows that ZnO nanoparticles exhibit high toxicity against bacteria but minimum effect on human
cells [8 9].
Clostridium perfringens is a bacterium that is usually responsible for food poisoning. Because the
toxin encoding genes can be located on extra chromosomal elements or in variable regions of the
chromosome, several pathovars have arisen, each of which is involved in a specific disease [10]. It has
been estimated by the Centers for Diseases Control and the Food and Drug Administration of the
United States of America that around 30 million people every year fall sick due to the infections
caused by eating food which is contaminated [11,12]. Studies have shown that Salmonella enterica is
one amongst the more prevalent bacterial pathogens that causes food borne infections [11]. It is
estimated that the medical and productivity losses caused by this bacterium were of high order. [11].

The Impact Of Television On The Television Industry Essay
Whilst much of television s history has relied on specific industrial practices established early in the
1960s, the turn of the century has introduced significant changes to the medium of television. The
current position of television, defined by Lotz as the post network era, illustrates an evolution from
these early industry practices. For the most part, scholars agree that this transition was caused by
changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, many of which
can be attributed to the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will argue that these changes
throughout the television industry have created a new, distinctive era of television culture.
First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television
development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and post
network era (7). The network era , which spanned roughly from the early 1950s to the mid 1980s,
governed industry operations and created a television experience which characterizes much of the
medium s history. This era was characterized by adapting radio network modes of content creation,
distribution, advertising, and audience measurement to the context of the then new televisual medium.
Dominated by a three network oligopoly network system comprised of ABC, NBC and CBS critics
have often condemned the network era as bland due to its strict censorship and limited creative

Scheduling Manufacturing Operations
ABSTRACT
Without true finite capacity scheduling, any implementation for manufacturing execution, whether it is
ERP, SCM, or MES, cannot realize the goal of enterprise efficiency and agility. All aspects of OM for
manufacturing execution fall behind the lead of FCS, which is the bridge between planning and
execution. Real tangible return on assets rests with FCS.
INTRODUCTION
Integrating a diverse collection of resources to accomplish a goal is an issue that has faced humankind
since the first city arose and food and services needed to be provided to the populace. The modern
challenge for operations management (OM) is the speed and volume that data is presented to OM
systems. This explosion of data holds the promise of efficiency ... Show more content on

WHAT WAS OLD IS NEW AGAIN
As mentioned in the introduction, operations management has been, and remains, one of the greatest
organizational challenges throughout history. OM arises from the need to coordinate diverse resources
to meet the needs of a complex system. The concept of the plan execute control model, a discovery
made by analysts in the late 1990 s, appears in the historical records of systems management, one of
the earliest mentions circa 4th century BC in China. One of the more versatile models in modern
systems management appeared in 1977 as a result of a joint effort between Dr J.S. Lawson of the
Naval Electronic Systems Command and Dr. Paul Moore of the Naval Postgraduate School. Figure 2
shows the Lawson Moore model, adapted by the author for general resource management.
SENSE is the collection of raw data or other collateral information about the observed environment.
PROCESS takes the data through the inference hierarchy, integrating data within the context of the
tasks required of the managed resources. The situation as best can be determined with the resources is
then compared to the DESIRED STATE. The DESIRED STATE is the result of planning, which drives
the allocation of resources to tasks. The plan exists in generalities, except for enterprises where goals
are achieved with simple tasks assigned to few or

Social Control In Metropolis
A great deal of fictional films and literature deal with the concept of society. Writers have played
around with the idea of societies that are different from the world we know. While some portray this in
optimistic ways and others darker, what these works have in common is the idea of social control
wherein people are forced to conform to means that are believed to benefit their society. Fritz Lang s
1927 silent film, Metropolis is an early example of this. The beginning shows machine gears and
workers marching towards a factory. This place is known as the Workers City, described to be far
below Metropolis, the city for the upper class founded by Joh Fredersen (Alfred Abel). The lives of
the workers and the rich are very different, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the set design was intricate and very detailed, especially in the factories where there were
gears and machines operating everywhere. Every inch brought the setting to life. There was a clear
distinction when switching from Metropolis to the Workers City that was seen in the scene s setting.
Moreover, the settings were given more depth by the frames and angles in which they were shot.
Many scenes would show the main subject or image centered in the frame, and this was given
emphasis with the use of dark shadows in contrary to a bright subject. Shadows indeed played a big
part in creating visuals. The technique of chiaroscuro, the contrast between light and dark comes to
mind, like in scenes that were more somber and serious (e.g. carrying the dead bodies from the
factory, Maria making prophecies about peace). In connection with the concept of angles, Fritz Lang
also had a commendable use of symmetry, which was visually appealing especially with intricately
designed sets. Lang also used lines in his shots, adding style and flair to dramatic

Analysis Of The Article How America Can Free Itself Of...
The excessive use of oil in the United States has been a very controversial debate with American
experts and scientists. In his article How America Can Free Itself of Oil Profitability, Amory Lovins
addresses the many different issues associated with excessive oil consumption and the risks versus the
benefits. Amory Lovins is a physicist, environmental scientist, writer, and Chairman/Chief Scientist of
the Rocky Mountain Institute. He has written numerous research articles arguing for the use of
renewable energy and alternatives for oil. Lovins also regularly gives presentations to other
environmentalists discussing the pros and cons of oil consumption. It is clear that his target audience
is the demographic of academics, scientists, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In paragraph 6 Lovins states that Inefficient light trucks and cars, which consume 40% of our oil, are
at the center of our oil habit. And ultralight and ultrastrong materials for vehicles are the No. 1
enabling technology for changing that. He reaffirms this point with many more facts and statistics
throughout this article. Lovins other main point is the benefit of using biofuels as a substitute for oil.
He encourages his point of view in paragraph one on page three by saying that Oil industry giants like
Shell and BP are already preparing to move beyond oil by transforming themselves into energy
companies.
Lovins argument is valid and provides good evidence to support his point of view. He mainly uses
logos in his arguments. This article is full of statistics which may make the argument valid, but does
not necessarily make it a good, well rounded argument. Although Lovins did a very good job using
logos, he missed some very easy opportunities to use ethos and pathos in his argument as well.
Providing information on how much America s overconsumption of oil is negatively affecting the
environment would be a very effective method of using ethos and pathos in his argument without
deviating from his logos style of writing. To effectively use ethos and pathos, Lovins could have
provided statistics on how many

Financial Crisis And Its Effects On Financial Institutions
The recent financial crisis has a huge impact on systemic Important Financial Institutions; it s
distressing effect can be felt in almost every business area and process of a bank. A fairly large
literature investigates the impact of financial crisis on large, complex and interconnected banks. The
great recession did affect banks in different ways, depending on the funding capability of each bank.
Kapan and Minoiu (2013) find that banks that were ex ante more dependent on market funding and
had lower structural liquidity reduced supply of credit more than other banks during crisis. The ability
of banks to generate interest income during the financial crisis was hampered because there was a vast
reduction in bank lending to individuals and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recent studies have investigated the impact of the 2007 2009 financial crises on banks capital. Berger
and Bouwman (2011) emphasised the importance of capital during financial crisis. Their empirical
study concludes that banks with solid capital base have some benefits during the crisis than those that
are poorly capitalised. Well capitalised banks are more able to withstand the shocks due to liquidity
squeeze, and therefore had higher chances of surviving the crisis period. Other benefits accrued to
well capitalised banks include increase in their market share and profitability, as customers withdrew
their funds from less capitalised to a well capitalised banks. This conclusion was also reinforced by a
recent empirical study conducted Olivier de Bandt et al (2014) on a sample of large French banks over
a period of 1993 2012. Similarly, Gambacorta and Marques Ibanez (2011) demonstrate the existence
of structural changes during the period of financial crisis. They conclude that banks with weaker core
capital positions, greater dependence on market funding and on non interest sources of income
restricted the loan supply more strongly during the crisis period. Using a multi country panel of banks,

Essay about Air Pollution in Birmingham, Alabama
Air pollution continues to be a significant problem in the city of Birmingham, as it has been for
decades. No one enjoys walking the streets of Birmingham only to taste or smell the smoke and
particulates in the air, not to mention the damaging effects to one s health. Fortunately, improvements
have been made; forty years ago, residents of Birmingham could not even see the skyline due to the
immense amounts of particulates in the air, but now the skyline is visible on a daily basis. The
noticeable improvement indicates the progress that has been made over the years, but there is still
plenty of room for much needed improvement. Birmingham s air quality is among some of the worst
in the United States, but there are several feasible and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For decades, the air quality in Birmingham did not meet EPA criteria, but crossed the threshold this
year. This achievement demonstrates the prominent progress made by the industries and residents to
improve air quality.
Although much improvement has been made, there is still more to be done. Spencer states that In
2011, the American Lung Association ranked Birmingham the eight worst city in the nation for
particle pollution, or soot (An Old Cloud of Polluted Air Lifts from Birmingham s Shoulders).
Birmingham s attempts at improving air quality have been valuable, but the air in Birmingham is still
dirty when compared to other industrial cities. Pollution continues to pose an enormous threat to
residents of urban cities worldwide. In the August 2008 Monthly Update, it is stated that
approximately 800,000 deaths each year can be attributed to outdoor air pollution, making pollution
the single most harmful environmental hazard to human health in urban areas (Kallman). The fact that
pollution kills hundreds of thousands of people each year alone portrays just how dangerous living in
these conditions can be. Kallman writes about a study which proves an increase in upper respiratory
diseases, cardiovascular mortality, respiratory mortality, and low birth weights when exposed to air
pollutants (August 2008: Monthly Update). These can be very serious diseases and complications
which, when contracted, can lead to death or very serious illnesses. There

Sports As A Young Age
At a young age, my parents put me in sports: teaching me how to skate at age three, playing football
my first year eligible and playing t ball a year early. Sports can teach a child more than just how to
throw a football or shoot a puck, sports have the power to teach a child how to become an adult.
Children who are involved in sports at a young age are taught many necessary traits in life. Sports can
impact their life and teach them competition, respect and responsibility. Three very valuable traits any
man or woman will need in their life. Without sports, children miss out on a valuable experience to
learn lifelong traits at a young age. My Dad was a high school phenom at hockey, so of course when
he had a son, he wanted his son to play. As soon as I could walk, I was on skates. Hockey became a
passion for me, I learned to love putting on the sweater and representing my home town. If my Dad
never put me on skates, I would have missed out on one of the best experiences of my life. The
parents who played sports competitively are typically the ones, that are rushing their own kids into
sports at a young age. They want their kid to have the same experience they had. My dad never missed
a game, he was always there after the game telling me, You played a hell of a game. or Whats up?

pants, you could browse through the wear to work collection they have put together, or you could have
used the search bar that was provided to search for a specific item. Locating desired merchandise: I
found that locating the desired merchandise, khaki pants, was a little difficult. Once I navigated to the
women s pants section I found that J. Crew had broken up the pants into the way they fit. I had no way
to refine my search on this page. However, when I typed exactly what merchandise I was looking for
in the search bar on the home page I was able to find the khaki pants quickly. Also, when I used the
search bar I was able to refine my search with tabs reading women, men, girl, or boys. Merchandise
and assortments: I found that J. Crew did not have a large assortment of women s pants. After finding
my desired merchandise, I saw that they offered only three types of khaki pants. What has J. Crew

Additive process means creating an object by laying down successive layers of materials, we can see

essay is going to discuss about the recent insight of the 3d printing industry base on the seminar that
spoke by Dr. Wendy Lee.
Creative can be at any age, it has no limitation that for being creative. However, many people find out
that, they cannot make their design come to a real product, as they do not have a machine to produce

##bolism In Michelangelo Buonarrotis Fresco Of The Libyan...
Q9 2: What is the message? For Jan de Heem means at least in part a celebration, an invitation to
share, at least visually and thus imaginatively, in its world. The feast on the table was a feast for the
eyes. How is it portrayed symbolically in the piece and the vocabulary term used for this kind of
painting. This painting is an example of Vanitas. The vanitas tradition of still life painting is
specifically designed to induce in the spectator a higher order of thought. This is a reminding the
viewer of the frivolous quality or vanity of human existence. It s a still life painting with the
enjoyment of the pleasurable things in life. The overturned goblet, the half peeled lemon, the oyster on
the half shell, the timepiece beside it , all remind the viewer that the material is celebrated in the
painting in long lasting as the spiritual and may be greater importance than material wealth. The
artwork is of a huge meal, most that has been left uneaten. Southern fruit in a cold climate is of luxury
and the peeled lemon is untouched. Was a sign of unwanted consumption in the artwork.
Q9 3: In Michelangelo Buonarrotis fresco of The Libyan Sibyl , many alteration are observed between
the initial sketch and the complete fresco. What are some of the changes mentioned? According to the

The Traits Of A Leader
Trait leadership is exactly what it says. It is leadership based on the traits a person holds. However, the
Trait Approach of looking at leadership also points out that people can emerge as a leader. Of the five
main traits, I see integrity as the most important and self confidence as the hardest to acquire. In class,
we looked at the five major traits of leaders; of intelligence, self confidence, determination, integrity,
and sociability. Intelligence is important for leaders to be able to communicate effectively with their
followers. Without the knowledge of being able to communicate with followers, there would not be
any followers doing the following. It would be chaos. In a business, if the leader in a group is in
charge of a project, but is unable to communicate with their team, the project will not be completed as
well as planned. Leaders need self confidence for many reasons, the most important being to show
followers to have confidence in their leader. If leaders don t believe in themselves, why would a
follower believe in them? The third trait discussed was determination. This trait would also reflect my
last idea on self confidence. Why would followers be determined to work and push through if the
leader isn t? Sociability plays hand in hand with being outgoing, in my eyes. An effective leader
would be able to get along with all followers, is friendly, and is enjoyable to be around. I feel as
though integrity should be the first trait discussed, as I feel it is

For instance, the opening scene of the episode shows Derek and Meredith, which are both white

on the white race. The African American character that holds a major role in the series is Richard

For example, she is harsh to everyone in the episode which makes the interns come to respect her.
Miranda Bailey offers one of the more intriguing examples of how blackness is figured in a text such
as Grey s Anatomy as a matter of personal and communication style, rather than political and social
differences (Havens, 2013, p. 125). Racial stereotypes are presented in this series differently, as
African Americans are given major roles. This is an advantage towards destroying the racial

The five principal functions in Rondell that must work together to produce new products are

unique and has adistinct subunit orientation.a. Production minimizes manufacturing costs. The goal is

b. Heterogeneous goals and priorities. Each function s different goal and subunit orientation causes it
toview problems differently. Subunits have become competitive as the attempts of one to achieve

and status inconsistencies havedeveloped among different groups and managers between the heads of
R D and engineering. Althoughthe head of R D, Doc Reeves, formally reports to Frank Forbus, the
director of engineering, informally Reeves has more status and power. The manufacturing manager is
concerned about his lack of a degree, which he believes lowers his status, so he deliberately causes
problems for other managers toincrease his power and status.d. Incompatible performance criteria.
Each function is evaluated according to its goals, so when slowengineering design raises
manufacturing costs or results in lost customers or penalty clauses in customer contracts, functions
come into conflict.e. Competition for scarce resources. Some functions, such as R D, can command

Houghton uses asterisk in Augustine in the cottage of lost play: the Ainulindalë as asterisk cosmogony
as Shippey used asterisk reality in his description of Tolkien s creative process. Asterick realities may
be based on assumptions which are imaginative, but they must be internally cohesive. Houghton s

neatly amongst the real cosmogonies known to early medieval Europe (171). He examines how Saint
Augustine, writing at the turn of the fifth century, understood the Old Testament book of Genesis.
Augustine was apparently a careful and meticulous student of the text, which Tolkien surely would
have appreciated. Tolkien chose to clothe his creation in the language of music, but Houghton shows
where the concepts beneath the imagery would fit easily into Augustine s understanding of creation.

Advertisers have applied the sex sells rule of advertising on this commercial, with the change of men
being objectified rather than women, and mixed it with humor in order to create a desirable effect.
Before turning to analysis of other techniques, it is important to mention the use of language and
sentences as well, which cannot really be seen as a persuasive technique but is a powerful tool in
manipulating audience. Sentences in the commercial are brief and straight to the point. The narrator is
confident and he knows what he is talking about no stops in between the sentences, no improvisation
and no commas, which, aside with random images, helps to create the desirable dynamic effect.
Dynamic commercial embodies the dynamic lifestyle led by the targeted audience, which consists of
young people who are always on the move and trying to keep up with the modern world.
As for the style and tone of the author, it is important to mention that the narrator states his point of
view up front, the language is forceful and persuasive, making the narrator sound arrogant and
powerful, even superior to the audience he is talking to. He is even making fun of the audience, which
is, however, not to be taken seriously, taking into account that the parodying tone is present from the
very beginning and it is clear that the intention is to make fun of the male and female stereotypes,
rather than the audience.

upbringing and lack of social interaction. This man with autism is not employed and is extremely
dependent on the individuals around him. He does not have the social skills or comprehension needed

by his doctor that Raymond does not have the capability to express his feelings; therefore, he is unable
to relate and understand human life as the typically developing person would. Raymond functions
almost robotically, consistently needing a strict schedule. This being said, Raymond is extremely
dependent on the caretakers at the institution for everything in his life, including his meals and

and psychologist, Doctor Marston, whom he sees after a psychotic break down.

Analysis Of The Apprenticeship Of Duddy Kravitz, And Willy...
In a capitalistically inclined economy, the influences of wealth and social esteem are rooted deep
within the ideologies of such a system. Value of an entity is prescribed by these facets, those without
wealth or esteem are belittled and depreciated, while those that come to acquire said commodities are
prioritized above others in societal outlets. This is such that instills a drive within those under the
governance of a market economy, the desire for immense affluence, as well as incontestable social
influence. Duddy Kravitz in The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz by Mordecai Richler, and Willy
Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller thoroughly exemplify this drive for excess wealth and
power. When analyzing the characters of Duddy Kravitz and Willy Loman, it is made distinctly
evident that Duddy Kravitz is successful to a greater degree, when compared to Willy Loman, in
achieving the generic and superficial capitalistic views of success. This discrepancy between the two
characters is emphasized through Duddy Kravitz rigorous climb to social and financial influence. It
can be observed, that both Willy Loman and Duddy Kravitz share an inner drive to acquire monetary
wealth. Although this drive is instilled within them by the society they respectively live in, they
experience diverging degrees of superficial success due to their ability, or lack there of, to adapt to the
ruthless and competitive nature of a capitalistic society. It becomes evident that due to his

Importance Of Meditation And The Kind Of Mindset Yoda
Basing one s understanding of meditation from the terms mentioned above, one can see the
resemblance and connection between meditation and the kind of mindset Yoda asks Luke Skywalker
to emulate. In Star Wars, concentration is essential to the life of a Jedi Knight, because through its
practice, a Jedi is able to let the force flow through them, to guide his actions, instead of suffering and
failing from clinging to the notion of control. Buddhist Meditation allows for one to be fully present,
to take in everything that the present moment has to offer, instead of clinging to the past that is long
gone, and the future that has yet to come. Correspondingly, Jedi Knights are asked to focus on the
present because every emotion that disrupts their mission to protect the galaxies, lies in clinging to
emotions that surround the past and the future.
To further understand the concept of being fully present, according to author Matthew Bortolin:
We become caught in the memories of our past mistakes and lost in fantasies about future triumphs,
and in so doing we lose the joy available in the present. In the time of the Buddha his disciples were
known to be exceptionally joyful and even radiant. It was a striking sight: simple monks, residing in
the wilderness and eating very little, yet so luminous and serene. When asked how this came to be, the
Buddha said, They do not repent the past, nor do they brood for the future. They live in the present.
Therefore they are radiant. By

China and Africa Trade Relations Essay
Today s world is shrinking. Not literally of course, but the advances in technology make it easy to
span thousands of miles of land and sea, so people can immediately communicate with each other. The
internet has connected the world instantly, and planes make traveling from one side of the world to the
other a piece of cake compared to the long, dangerous sea voyages of the past. People move and
migrate constantly, all the while exchanging ideas and goods. Trade has always played an important
role in human history. Whether the swapping of an apple for an orange, or $12 million dollars for a
new dam, the fluid movement of goods and services from one to another is how humans have been

While relations with China are not in themselves a recent phenomenon, the extensive amount of trade
that the two partake in is. Actually, the affiliation between China and Africa stretches back centuries.
Some scholars try to establish the starting point based on the discovery of ancient Chinese ceramics on
the east coast of Africa, or to the trading ties begun under the Song dynasty (Raine 13). Trying to trace
ties back this far is important in increasing a sense of loyalty. After all, people tend to have stronger
feelings of fidelity towards someone they have known for years, as compared to someone they have
just met. Another frequently cited encounter is when the Chinese explorer Zheng He reached the east
coast of Africa where...Zheng came, saw and never conquered...[leaving only a legacy] of trade,
stimulating a local market for Chinese silk and porcelain (Raine 13). This incident is important in
further establishing solidarity between the two nations. China refers to this history to prove it has
interacted commercially without further agenda and without detriment to Africa (Raine 14). It uses
this point to relate to Africa they are both Third World nations that have faced oppression from the
First World, and therefore need to stick together.

Lady Capulet And The Nurse
Similarities and differences in literature help us to obtain a more developed understanding of
characters and their surroundings. Within Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet , there are an abundance of
contrasting personalities. One of the most recognizable out of these is that of the relationship between
Lady Capulet and the Nurse. Shakespeare has placed these contradictory identities so that the reader
may be able to see the passionate love of Juliet by Romeo. Within the play, there are several examples
of the contrast between characters. A famous illustration of this found is in Act I Scene III: It is an
honor I dream not of (Juliet) An honor! Were not I thine only nurse, I would say thou hadst sucked
wisdom from thy teat. (Nurse) Well, think of marriage now. Here in Verona, ladies of esteem are made

Nay, bigger; women grow by men. (Nurse). Lady Capulet empowers her daughter to marry early so
that she will not have to compete with younger and healthier women. Further pushing her argument of
the loss of Juliet s social life, the Nurse tells Lady Capulet and her daughter that once she settled down
she would lose her youth. Lady Capulet and the Nurse aid readers in understanding Juliet s childhood
because both of the women raised her. Shakespeare accentuates the caring and humorous ideas of the
Nurse and contrasts them with Lady Capulet s deliberate and serious views on marriage. Lady Capulet
s ideals can be expected because of her own arranged marriage with Lord Capulet. She may want
someone to be sympathetic to her past, or simply just want company. In either case, the Nurse s low
key jokes hint that she feel the opposite; a man would only drag Juliet down in her years of

Greek Society s Influence On Gender And Sexual Norms
Ancient Greek society had its own ideas and values on gender and sexual norms that were reflected by
the Olympian gods. These reflections often had small differences that separated the Olympian gods
from humans. Other times there was little reflection between the Olympain gods and Ancient Greek
society. Some of these reflections include the values of parthenoi, unmarried women; pederasty, a type
of male homosexuality; and lastly moicheia, illicit sexual relationships. These reflections from
Olympian gods to Greek society show how these values were important to be included in religious
tales. Parthenoi were women that were of an age where they could marry but had yet to do so. Male
sentiments of parthenoi ranged from the positive views that she was captivating and necessary to
continue human life and succession, while on the negative she was seen as uncontrollable and wild
like an animal. Men believed that women were always vulnerable to reverting back to their untamed
state of nature and so needed the guidance of men and their protection. Marriage was one way of
subduing women, reflected in a common term for wife, damar, meaning tamed. It is for this reason
that parthenoi were considered dangerous to be left unmarried. This sentiment is reflected in the
mortal parthenoi characters in mythology. Daphne is a mortal parthenos figure who rejected the social
expectation of marriage and joined Artemis hunters. However, she later attracted the attention of
Apollo who pursued her

A Successful Black Man In August Wilson s Radio Golf
In the play, Radio Golf, author August Wilson address the idea of the working black man. He contrasts
this characterization of working black men with unemployed black men to show their progression.
Wilson challenges the idea that to be a successful black man, simply means making as much money as
possible. The character, Harmond begins the play by representing the ideal black man. Harmond was
highly educated having graduated from an Ivy League school, married, a business owner, wealthy, and
involved in local government. From afar, he looked like the ideal representation of what a successful
black man should be. Harmond works for himself and readers are meant to view this as honorable.
However, as the play progresses, issues arise with Harmond s status as a successful working man.
Readers find out that Harmond s success is due in large part to his father s success, thus it seems less
like he earned his status and respect by himself. Additionally, it comes to light that not all of his
business proceedings are legal. In fact, readers find out that he has possessed houses in an illegal
manner. Readers see that Harmond s morals are questionable and are meant question the idea of the

Rhetorical Analysis Of President Bush s Speech
On September 11, 2001, America was attacked by members of an Islamic extremist group resulting in
the deaths of over three thousand people, including more than four hundred firefighters and police
officers. Needless to say the people of America were both frightened and confused, looking to their
leader President George W. Bush to offer comfort and guidance during this dark time, and President
Bush responded with an inspiring speech full of hope, Indeed President Bush s speech was a powerful
and immediate response to the events of that terrible day because he was not only able to capture the
emotions of his country, but also because he was able to form a call to action for his country,
reassuring them of his will and ability to protect America and retaliate for the horrific events of that
day. He utilized important elements of rhetoric including ethos, logos, and pathos. The ethos of
President Bush s speech is mostly lost in his text, as it largely stemmed from the imagery of the
moment. His immediate response to the attacks demonstrates that he is a qualified and responsive
leader, but the most effective initial establishment of his ethos was the image spread throughout the
country: President Bush in the oval office with both the American and Presidential flags surrounding
him, a patriotic image to say the least. He still manages to establish ethos through the text of the
speech by establishing himself as a strong leader who is quick to action. In his address he states:

Importance Of Family Relationships
The connection of various individual by marriage, blood, etc are considered as family relationships.
Moreover, these connections are considered to be the most important building block for the
comprehensive development of individuals in our society. Family relationships, whether they may be
harmonious or disruptive, serves as an important driving force for all individuals interactions in the
outside world. While, these relationships may either be destructive or harmonious, they promote the
transmission of good behaviours, cultural influences and other specific ways of life from the older to
the younger members of the family unit. Harmonious relationships are more pleasing and consistently
allows members of the family to feel more comfortable. Also, a strong bond is formed among the
family members. On the other hand, destructive family relationships builds and maintain tension
between the individuals, which ultimately prevents the proper transfer of good values and attitudes to
the members. This type of relationship can be directly attributed to the future problems faced by
individuals nurtured by the a disruptive family. In Two Kind by Amy Tan and Story of the Hour by
Kate Chopin, family relationships plays an important role in the outcome of an individual in both
positive and negative manner.

The National Spelling Of America Essay
Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local level spelling bees
with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Held
at the end of May or beginning of June each year, millions of spectators around the world watch the
bee, which is held just outside Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while a fantastic
educational experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and for learning
about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the executives of the E.W.
Scripps Company, that the Scripps National Spelling Bee reform the competition by determining the
number of spellers from each state in a way that is proportional to the state s population, standardizing
the difficulty of bees prior to the national level, and decreasing the value of points earned from the
new addition of vocabulary. While spellers competing at the national level follow various paths to earn
their coveted spots, people from certain geographic areas have a tremendously easier path than others.
This difficult discrepancy is largely based on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to
progress to the national level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states,
including Hawaii, Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while states
such as Ohio and California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively

Tennyson s Themes In The Story Of The Lady Of Shalott
How does Tennyson use the story of the Lady of Shalott to reflect on the situation of the artist in
modern times? Lord Tennyson perfectly describes the situation of the artist, in the sense that an artist
should find himself in solitude, perfect silence and isolation. This seems to be the perfect environment
for a poet, as if the whole world disappears and he is alone with his thoughts. But we can also admit
that it is not the poet s volition to be isolated in order to create and to be imaginative. The poet tries to
gather all of his thoughts, sentiments and passions and the result is a piece of art. It is widely known
that artists prefer to live all by themselves and their imagination is augmented because they prefer to

easy to be achieved. In the final stanza, Lancelot admires her only for her beauty, without knowing

The Paris Peace Conference and Versailles Treaty Essay
Success or Failure
At the end of World War I (WWI), as with most wars, it was necessary to hold a peace conference and
due to the number of countries involved in the war, this task was extremely imposing. The desired
conclusion of this conference was world peace, but with approximately 75% of the world nations
represented and each country having it s own agenda, the search for peace was elusive because of a
desire for vengeance. This vengeance may have set the stage for World War II. On January 12th, 1919,
the Paris Peace Conference (PPC) opened at several different venues, in and around Paris, France, but
was moved to the Versailles Palace because of the number of attendees. As many as 32 World Leaders

the end of the war, the PPC outcome had basically already been decided. Europe was determined to

Europe, but he was up against centuries of inbred infighting. Wilson s Fourteen Points, which included
the following four;
1) no more secret treaties

one nationality should not have the power to govern another
4) all countries should belong to the League of Nations was reduced to One Point , and this point was
the establishment of the League of Nations, and even this was a hollow victory, as the American
Congress would never allow the United States to be a member of the League. Also, secret treaties had

The world isn t perfect, true but it shouldn t have to be, we are humans and we make mistakes.
Sometimes we wish everything could be perfect, yet that may end up making things worse. We
shouldn t try to be perfect like Dr. Hitz thinks it should be. We should just be thankful for what we

sometimes things aren t as perfect as they seem. Kurt Vonnegut uses Characterization to develop the
fact that things aren t as perfect as they seem. He does this by mentioning different points of views for

Theme Of Existentialism In The City And The River
Among the Indian English writers who qualify as existentialist, Arun Joshi is the first and finest one.
His novels are strongly influenced by the existential philosophy of Satare, Albert Camus and
Kierkegaard. His journey of fictional works from the Foreigner (1968) to The City and The River
(1990) is characterised by themes of frustration, disintegration, rootlessness, a sense of alienation and
existential predicament. The present paper examines how Joshi, in his last novel, The City and The
River (1990), delineates existential predicament of its prominent characters. The prominent characters
in it carry with them a sense of alienation, loneliness and pessimism. The novel depicts the existential
dilemma of its characters in hostile world but this predicament, however, has been replaced by the
Socio political crisis of the city, which is a conglomerate of individuals and can be said to represent
the whole humanity.

Key Success Factors. Key Success Factors Are Variables
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Key success factors are variables that can significantly affect the overall competitive positions of
companies within any particular industry (Wheelen, p113). Airlines are in part service businesses. To
be successful, an airline must be effective in four general areas: 1) attracting customers; 2) managing
its fleet; 3) managing its people, and 4) managing its finances.
Attracting customers
One of the biggest challenge in the airline industry is to attract customers. There are so many domestic

to Columbus, Ohio, when the plane turned back to the gate unexpectedly. The flight attendant

They had booked her on a direct flight to Denver that was leaving in the next two hours, and the
airline did not charge Uhle any additional fees or service charges for the flight. Stories like that are
pretty common when it comes to Southwest, and that made them very appreciated by its customers.

The outside pressures were the main reasons the boys acted out the way they did. An example is in
Dead Poets Society, Neil had wanted to take an easier class at the beginning of the school year, but his
father had rejected the idea. When Neil s father also did this with his want to become an actor, it
resulted in Neil taking his own life. The boys in Dead Poets Society were forced to do whatever their
parents wanted them to do. The pressures in A Separate Peace are different, but they are still pressures
that impact the way these boys act and think. One very important pressure in the novel A Separate
Peace is the war. The war played such a crucial event throughout the story because it was the main
reason they were all fidgety and worried at times, they never wanted to be drafted into the war. Even
though they knew they did not want to be in the war, they would go in a patriotic way if they had to.
This also lead to another problem with outside pressure. Finny was not physically able to be drafted
into any force, whether it be American or not. In the novel A Separate Peace, Finny states on page 190,
They all gave me the same answer after they saw the medical report on me. The answer was no soap.

  • 2. What Does Zno Nanoparticles Exhibit High Toxicity Against... ZnO is an inorganic metal oxide with Wurtzite structure. ZnO nanoparticles have been extensively studied in the field of catalysis, paints, cosmetics, solar cells, gas sensors and food packaging materials [1 6]. It is due to their ease of preparation in different morphologies, low cost, UV shielding properties, large surface to volume ratio, chemically alterable physical properties. The effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles on sex hormones and cholesterol in rat has also been reported [7]. Literature shows that ZnO nanoparticles exhibit high toxicity against bacteria but minimum effect on human cells [8 9]. Clostridium perfringens is a bacterium that is usually responsible for food poisoning. Because the toxin encoding genes can be located on extra chromosomal elements or in variable regions of the chromosome, several pathovars have arisen, each of which is involved in a specific disease [10]. It has been estimated by the Centers for Diseases Control and the Food and Drug Administration of the United States of America that around 30 million people every year fall sick due to the infections caused by eating food which is contaminated [11,12]. Studies have shown that Salmonella enterica is one amongst the more prevalent bacterial pathogens that causes food borne infections [11]. It is estimated that the medical and productivity losses caused by this bacterium were of high order. [11]. The interaction between NPs and microorganisms and biomolecules is an expanding area of ... • 3. The Impact Of Television On The Television Industry Essay Whilst much of television s history has relied on specific industrial practices established early in the 1960s, the turn of the century has introduced significant changes to the medium of television. The current position of television, defined by Lotz as the post network era, illustrates an evolution from these early industry practices. For the most part, scholars agree that this transition was caused by changes in the industrial norms of producing, financing, and distributing television, many of which can be attributed to the arrival of digital technologies. This essay will argue that these changes throughout the television industry have created a new, distinctive era of television culture. First and foremost, Lotz provides valuable insight into the distinguishable eras of television development. The resulting three eras are defined as the network era, multi channel transition and post network era (7). The network era , which spanned roughly from the early 1950s to the mid 1980s, governed industry operations and created a television experience which characterizes much of the medium s history. This era was characterized by adapting radio network modes of content creation, distribution, advertising, and audience measurement to the context of the then new televisual medium. Dominated by a three network oligopoly network system comprised of ABC, NBC and CBS critics have often condemned the network era as bland due to its strict censorship and limited creative ... • 4. Scheduling Manufacturing Operations ABSTRACT Without true finite capacity scheduling, any implementation for manufacturing execution, whether it is ERP, SCM, or MES, cannot realize the goal of enterprise efficiency and agility. All aspects of OM for manufacturing execution fall behind the lead of FCS, which is the bridge between planning and execution. Real tangible return on assets rests with FCS. INTRODUCTION Integrating a diverse collection of resources to accomplish a goal is an issue that has faced humankind since the first city arose and food and services needed to be provided to the populace. The modern challenge for operations management (OM) is the speed and volume that data is presented to OM systems. This explosion of data holds the promise of efficiency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... WHAT WAS OLD IS NEW AGAIN As mentioned in the introduction, operations management has been, and remains, one of the greatest organizational challenges throughout history. OM arises from the need to coordinate diverse resources to meet the needs of a complex system. The concept of the plan execute control model, a discovery made by analysts in the late 1990 s, appears in the historical records of systems management, one of the earliest mentions circa 4th century BC in China. One of the more versatile models in modern systems management appeared in 1977 as a result of a joint effort between Dr J.S. Lawson of the Naval Electronic Systems Command and Dr. Paul Moore of the Naval Postgraduate School. Figure 2 shows the Lawson Moore model, adapted by the author for general resource management. SENSE is the collection of raw data or other collateral information about the observed environment. PROCESS takes the data through the inference hierarchy, integrating data within the context of the tasks required of the managed resources. The situation as best can be determined with the resources is then compared to the DESIRED STATE. The DESIRED STATE is the result of planning, which drives the allocation of resources to tasks. The plan exists in generalities, except for enterprises where goals are achieved with simple tasks assigned to few or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Social Control In Metropolis A great deal of fictional films and literature deal with the concept of society. Writers have played around with the idea of societies that are different from the world we know. While some portray this in optimistic ways and others darker, what these works have in common is the idea of social control wherein people are forced to conform to means that are believed to benefit their society. Fritz Lang s 1927 silent film, Metropolis is an early example of this. The beginning shows machine gears and workers marching towards a factory. This place is known as the Workers City, described to be far below Metropolis, the city for the upper class founded by Joh Fredersen (Alfred Abel). The lives of the workers and the rich are very different, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the set design was intricate and very detailed, especially in the factories where there were gears and machines operating everywhere. Every inch brought the setting to life. There was a clear distinction when switching from Metropolis to the Workers City that was seen in the scene s setting. Moreover, the settings were given more depth by the frames and angles in which they were shot. Many scenes would show the main subject or image centered in the frame, and this was given emphasis with the use of dark shadows in contrary to a bright subject. Shadows indeed played a big part in creating visuals. The technique of chiaroscuro, the contrast between light and dark comes to mind, like in scenes that were more somber and serious (e.g. carrying the dead bodies from the factory, Maria making prophecies about peace). In connection with the concept of angles, Fritz Lang also had a commendable use of symmetry, which was visually appealing especially with intricately designed sets. Lang also used lines in his shots, adding style and flair to dramatic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of The Article How America Can Free Itself Of... The excessive use of oil in the United States has been a very controversial debate with American experts and scientists. In his article How America Can Free Itself of Oil Profitability, Amory Lovins addresses the many different issues associated with excessive oil consumption and the risks versus the benefits. Amory Lovins is a physicist, environmental scientist, writer, and Chairman/Chief Scientist of the Rocky Mountain Institute. He has written numerous research articles arguing for the use of renewable energy and alternatives for oil. Lovins also regularly gives presentations to other environmentalists discussing the pros and cons of oil consumption. It is clear that his target audience is the demographic of academics, scientists, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In paragraph 6 Lovins states that Inefficient light trucks and cars, which consume 40% of our oil, are at the center of our oil habit. And ultralight and ultrastrong materials for vehicles are the No. 1 enabling technology for changing that. He reaffirms this point with many more facts and statistics throughout this article. Lovins other main point is the benefit of using biofuels as a substitute for oil. He encourages his point of view in paragraph one on page three by saying that Oil industry giants like Shell and BP are already preparing to move beyond oil by transforming themselves into energy companies. Lovins argument is valid and provides good evidence to support his point of view. He mainly uses logos in his arguments. This article is full of statistics which may make the argument valid, but does not necessarily make it a good, well rounded argument. Although Lovins did a very good job using logos, he missed some very easy opportunities to use ethos and pathos in his argument as well. Providing information on how much America s overconsumption of oil is negatively affecting the environment would be a very effective method of using ethos and pathos in his argument without deviating from his logos style of writing. To effectively use ethos and pathos, Lovins could have provided statistics on how many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Financial Crisis And Its Effects On Financial Institutions The recent financial crisis has a huge impact on systemic Important Financial Institutions; it s distressing effect can be felt in almost every business area and process of a bank. A fairly large literature investigates the impact of financial crisis on large, complex and interconnected banks. The great recession did affect banks in different ways, depending on the funding capability of each bank. Kapan and Minoiu (2013) find that banks that were ex ante more dependent on market funding and had lower structural liquidity reduced supply of credit more than other banks during crisis. The ability of banks to generate interest income during the financial crisis was hampered because there was a vast reduction in bank lending to individuals and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Recent studies have investigated the impact of the 2007 2009 financial crises on banks capital. Berger and Bouwman (2011) emphasised the importance of capital during financial crisis. Their empirical study concludes that banks with solid capital base have some benefits during the crisis than those that are poorly capitalised. Well capitalised banks are more able to withstand the shocks due to liquidity squeeze, and therefore had higher chances of surviving the crisis period. Fortunately, improvements have been made; forty years ago, residents of Birmingham could not even see the skyline due to the immense amounts of particulates in the air, but now the skyline is visible on a daily basis. The fact that pollution kills hundreds of thousands of people each year alone portrays just how dangerous living in these conditions can be. Kallman writes about a study which proves an increase in upper respiratory diseases, cardiovascular mortality, respiratory mortality, and low birth weights when exposed to air pollutants (August 2008: Monthly Update). However, the Trait Approach of looking at leadership also points out that people can emerge as a leader. Of the five main traits, I see integrity as the most important and self confidence as the hardest to acquire. In class, we looked at the five major traits of leaders; of intelligence, self confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability. Intelligence is important for leaders to be able to communicate effectively with their followers. Without the knowledge of being able to communicate with followers, there would not be any followers doing the following. It would be chaos. In a business, if the leader in a group is in charge of a project, but is unable to communicate with their team, the project will not be completed as well as planned. Leaders need self confidence for many reasons, the most important being to show followers to have confidence in their leader. If leaders don t believe in themselves, why would a follower believe in them? The third trait discussed was determination. This trait would also reflect my last idea on self confidence. Why would followers be determined to work and push through if the leader isn t? Sociability plays hand in hand with being outgoing, in my eyes. Buddhist Meditation allows for one to be fully present, to take in everything that the present moment has to offer, instead of clinging to the past that is long gone, and the future that has yet to come. Correspondingly, Jedi Knights are asked to focus on the present because every emotion that disrupts their mission to protect the galaxies, lies in clinging to emotions that surround the past and the future. To further understand the concept of being fully present, according to author Matthew Bortolin: We become caught in the memories of our past mistakes and lost in fantasies about future triumphs, and in so doing we lose the joy available in the present. Some of these reflections include the values of parthenoi, unmarried women; pederasty, a type of male homosexuality; and lastly moicheia, illicit sexual relationships. • 30. Rhetorical Analysis Of President Bush s Speech On September 11, 2001, America was attacked by members of an Islamic extremist group resulting in the deaths of over three thousand people, including more than four hundred firefighters and police officers. Needless to say the people of America were both frightened and confused, looking to their leader President George W. Bush to offer comfort and guidance during this dark time, and President Bush responded with an inspiring speech full of hope, Indeed President Bush s speech was a powerful and immediate response to the events of that terrible day because he was not only able to capture the emotions of his country, but also because he was able to form a call to action for his country, reassuring them of his will and ability to protect America and retaliate for the horrific events of that day. He utilized important elements of rhetoric including ethos, logos, and pathos. The ethos of President Bush s speech is mostly lost in his text, as it largely stemmed from the imagery of the moment. His immediate response to the attacks demonstrates that he is a qualified and responsive leader, but the most effective initial establishment of his ethos was the image spread throughout the country: President Bush in the oval office with both the American and Presidential flags surrounding him, a patriotic image to say the least. He still manages to establish ethos through the text of the speech by establishing himself as a strong leader who is quick to action. In his address he states: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The National Spelling Of America Essay Every year, millions of students, no older than in eighth grade, compete in local level spelling bees with hopes of making it to the ultimate spelling competition, the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Held at the end of May or beginning of June each year, millions of spectators around the world watch the bee, which is held just outside Washington, DC. The Scripps National Spelling Bee, while a fantastic educational experience, both for learning the ins and outs of the English language and for learning about the history of America, is in dire need of reform. I propose to you, the executives of the E.W. Scripps Company, that the Scripps National Spelling Bee reform the competition by determining the number of spellers from each state in a way that is proportional to the state s population, standardizing the difficulty of bees prior to the national level, and decreasing the value of points earned from the new addition of vocabulary. While spellers competing at the national level follow various paths to earn their coveted spots, people from certain geographic areas have a tremendously easier path than others. This difficult discrepancy is largely based on the number of spellers that each specific state allows to progress to the national level each year. In the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee, sixteen states, including Hawaii, Mississippi, and Nevada, sent only one speller from the entire state, while states such as Ohio and California sent nineteen and seventeen respectively ... • 33. Tennyson s Themes In The Story Of The Lady Of Shalott How does Tennyson use the story of the Lady of Shalott to reflect on the situation of the artist in modern times? Lord Tennyson perfectly describes the situation of the artist, in the sense that an artist should find himself in solitude, perfect silence and isolation. This seems to be the perfect environment for a poet, as if the whole world disappears and he is alone with his thoughts. But we can also admit that it is not the poet s volition to be isolated in order to create and to be imaginative. The poet tries to gather all of his thoughts, sentiments and passions and the result is a piece of art. It is widely known that artists prefer to live all by themselves and their imagination is augmented because they prefer to find their inner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the final stanza, Lancelot admires her only for her beauty, without knowing that she dedicated years of her life closed in a tower, weaving a web with colorful images from the exterior, as if she was a painter. • 34. The Paris Peace Conference and Versailles Treaty Essay Success or Failure At the end of World War I (WWI), as with most wars, it was necessary to hold a peace conference and due to the number of countries involved in the war, this task was extremely imposing. The desired conclusion of this conference was world peace, but with approximately 75% of the world nations represented and each country having it s own agenda, the search for peace was elusive because of a desire for vengeance. This vengeance may have set the stage for World War II. On January 12th, 1919, the Paris Peace Conference (PPC) opened at several different venues, in and around Paris, France, but was moved to the Versailles Palace because of the number of attendees. The total deaths of all nations, civilian and soldier deaths, who fought in WWI, are thought to be well over 8.5 million deaths and 21 million being wounded. The desire of revenge against Germany and the countries that fought with them, resonated through out the conference. In secret treaties, held prior to the end of the war, the PPC outcome had basically already been decided. Europe was determined to make Germany pay and the actual treaty, in essence, was victory with vengeance. Woodrow Wilson brought his Fourteen Points document to the peace table hoping to change the way of thinking in Europe, but he was up against centuries of inbred infighting. Wilson s Fourteen Points, which included the following four; 1) no more secret treaties 2) countries must seek to reduce their weapons and their armed forces 3) national self determination should allow people of the same nationality to govern themselves and one nationality should not have the power to govern another 4) all countries should belong to the League of Nations was reduced to One Point , and this point was the establishment of the League of Nations, and even this was a hollow victory, as the American Congress would never allow the United States to be a member of the League. Sometimes we wish everything could be perfect, yet that may end up making things worse. We shouldn t try to be perfect like Dr. Hitz thinks it should be. We should just be thankful for what we have now. In 2BRO2B, Kurt Vonnegut uses characterization and internal conflict to stress the idea sometimes things aren t as perfect as they seem. Kurt Vonnegut uses Characterization to develop the fact that things aren t as perfect as they seem. He does this by mentioning different points of views for different characters. Dr. Hitz believes that having set up the very first gas chamber for population control is an accomplishment. Leora Duncan admires Dr. Hitz and that s why she s beyond thankful to stand next to him in the portrait being painted of the happy garden of life. • 39. Theme Of Existentialism In The City And The River Among the Indian English writers who qualify as existentialist, Arun Joshi is the first and finest one. His novels are strongly influenced by the existential philosophy of Satare, Albert Camus and Kierkegaard. His journey of fictional works from the Foreigner (1968) to The City and The River (1990) is characterised by themes of frustration, disintegration, rootlessness, a sense of alienation and existential predicament. The present paper examines how Joshi, in his last novel, The City and The River (1990), delineates existential predicament of its prominent characters. The prominent characters in it carry with them a sense of alienation, loneliness and pessimism. The novel depicts the existential dilemma of its characters in hostile world but this predicament, however, has been replaced by the Socio political crisis of the city, which is a conglomerate of individuals and can be said to represent the whole humanity. Key Success Factors Are Variables KEY SUCCESS FACTORS Key success factors are variables that can significantly affect the overall competitive positions of companies within any particular industry (Wheelen, p113). Airlines are in part service businesses. To be successful, an airline must be effective in four general areas: 1) attracting customers; 2) managing its fleet; 3) managing its people, and 4) managing its finances. Attracting customers One of the biggest challenge in the airline industry is to attract customers. The flight attendant approached Uhle and asked her to get off the plane. Uhle learned from her husband that her son, who lives in Denver, Colorado, was in a coma after suffering a head injury. Before Uhle had even disembarked her scheduled flight or spoken to customer service, Southwest had handled her situation. They had booked her on a direct flight to Denver that was leaving in the next two hours, and the airline did not charge Uhle any additional fees or service charges for the flight. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The outside pressures were the main reasons the boys acted out the way they did. An example is in Dead Poets Society, Neil had wanted to take an easier class at the beginning of the school year, but his father had rejected the idea. When Neil s father also did this with his want to become an actor, it resulted in Neil taking his own life. The boys in Dead Poets Society were forced to do whatever their parents wanted them to do. The pressures in A Separate Peace are different, but they are still pressures that impact the way these boys act and think. One very important pressure in the novel A Separate Peace is the war. The war played such a crucial event throughout the story because it was the main reason they were all fidgety and worried at times, they never wanted to be drafted into the war. Even though they knew they did not want to be in the war, they would go in a patriotic way if they had to. This also lead to another problem with outside pressure. Finny was not physically able to be drafted into any force, whether it be American or not. In the novel A Separate Peace, Finny states on page 190, They all gave me the same answer after they saw the medical report on me. The answer was no soap. We can t use you .
