Application of remote sensing (Agriculture)

Remote sensing is essential for crop yield modeling. Monitoring crop condition and
production estimates at the state and county level is of great interest to the U.S. Department of
Agriculture. Remote sensing technology applications for monitoring vegetation condition has
been studied extensively during the past several decades, providing timely assessment of changes
in growth and development of agricultural crops.
Application of remote sensing (Forestry)

Remote sensing is useful for forestry. Quantification of forest growing stock is necessary
for better management and planning. In forestry, growing stock estimation is an important
parameter required for forest management and planning purposes. General information about
stock available per unit area, is the key information desired for forest inventory. To evaluate,
monitor and harvest the available natural resources efficiently and judiciously, and for the
scientific management of the forest for future planning forest inventory data and various
information at national, regional and local levels are required.
Application of remote sensing (Geology)

Remote sensing is useful in several modes of oil spill control, including large area
surveillance, site specific monitoring and tactical assistance in emergencies. Remote sensing is
able to provide essential information to enhance strategic and tactical decision-making,
potentially reducing incidence of spills by providing a deterrent factor, decreasing response costs
by facilitating rapid oil recovery and ultimately minimizing impact.
Application of remote sensing (Urban and land use)

Land is the most important natural resource, which comprises soil, water and the
associated flora and fauna, thus involving the total ecosystem. Any country in the world is
trying to achieve stable development. Spatial planning is trying to organize the human and
activity in environment in such a way that stable development would be achieved in various
contexts. The present study has been carried out to find the land use compatibility after doing
detailed land use analysis using remote sensing and GIS as well as potentials of BSNA.
Application of remote sensing (Coastal Environment)

Remote sensing is useful for coastal environment. The coastal ecosystems comprised of
biological, physical and chemical components, are indispensable to life on our planet and
support the livelihood of people living and depending on coastal resources. These ecosystems
are one of the most threatened but mostly populated landscapes in the world, which can no
longer provide their biological functions and regulate services that sustain coastal economic
production and livelihoods. Thus, there is a pressing need for plans to address issues such as
protection and sustainable use of coastal ecosystems.
Application of remote sensing (Ocean resources)

Remote sensing is useful for potential fishing zone. Satellite based potential fishing
zones (PFZs) forecasts were generated using integration of Ocean Color Monitor (OCM) derived
chlorophyll concentration and Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) derived sea
surface temperatures (SST). Validation of the PFZ forecasts was carried out using Fishery
Survey.

Remote sensing

  • 1. Application of remote sensing (Agriculture) Figure: Crop yield modeling Remote sensing is essential for crop yield modeling. Monitoring crop condition and production estimates at the state and county level is of great interest to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Remote sensing technology applications for monitoring vegetation condition has been studied extensively during the past several decades, providing timely assessment of changes in growth and development of agricultural crops.
  • 2. Application of remote sensing (Forestry) Figure: Forest stock mapping Remote sensing is useful for forestry. Quantification of forest growing stock is necessary for better management and planning. In forestry, growing stock estimation is an important parameter required for forest management and planning purposes. General information about stock available per unit area, is the key information desired for forest inventory. To evaluate, monitor and harvest the available natural resources efficiently and judiciously, and for the scientific management of the forest for future planning forest inventory data and various information at national, regional and local levels are required.
  • 3. Application of remote sensing (Geology) Figure: Oil field Remote sensing is useful in several modes of oil spill control, including large area surveillance, site specific monitoring and tactical assistance in emergencies. Remote sensing is able to provide essential information to enhance strategic and tactical decision-making, potentially reducing incidence of spills by providing a deterrent factor, decreasing response costs by facilitating rapid oil recovery and ultimately minimizing impact.
  • 4. Application of remote sensing (Urban and land use) Figure: Urban and land use level mapping Land is the most important natural resource, which comprises soil, water and the associated flora and fauna, thus involving the total ecosystem. Any country in the world is trying to achieve stable development. Spatial planning is trying to organize the human and activity in environment in such a way that stable development would be achieved in various contexts. The present study has been carried out to find the land use compatibility after doing detailed land use analysis using remote sensing and GIS as well as potentials of BSNA.
  • 5. Application of remote sensing (Coastal Environment) Figure: Coastal ecosystem Remote sensing is useful for coastal environment. The coastal ecosystems comprised of biological, physical and chemical components, are indispensable to life on our planet and support the livelihood of people living and depending on coastal resources. These ecosystems are one of the most threatened but mostly populated landscapes in the world, which can no longer provide their biological functions and regulate services that sustain coastal economic production and livelihoods. Thus, there is a pressing need for plans to address issues such as protection and sustainable use of coastal ecosystems.
  • 6. Application of remote sensing (Ocean resources) Figure: Potential fishing zone Remote sensing is useful for potential fishing zone. Satellite based potential fishing zones (PFZs) forecasts were generated using integration of Ocean Color Monitor (OCM) derived chlorophyll concentration and Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) derived sea surface temperatures (SST). Validation of the PFZ forecasts was carried out using Fishery Survey.
