Benjamin Netanyahu Qualities
Benjamin Bibi Netanyahu was born on October 21,1949 in Tel Aviv and is a prominent world leader
and the current Prime Minister of Israel. Truth be told, it was not always smooth sailing for Netanyahu
and for most parts, it was an uphill battle for him. Despite all the impediments he faced along the way,
he remained focus, had confidence and exhibited persistence (some of the many qualities of a true
leader) and he persevered to get where he is today.
In 1963, Benjamin Netanyahu took residence in the United States of America, particularly in the state
of Philadelphia where he and his family moved as a result of his father Benzion Netanyahu receiving
academic post. Benjamin returned to Israel at age 18 and got enlisted in 1967 in the Israeli military
where he became a soldier and spent five years. Netanyahu was apart of an elite unit called Sayeret
Matkal where he was serving as captain, even in his early days ... Show more content on

Some if not all of these characters were demonstrated by Netanyahu in his early years of leadership
seeing that he was a commando in the military, achieved a bachelors and a masters at an early age thus
displaying some trait perspective of leadership such as physical factors like his height, seeing that you
had to be a certain height to be in the army and Netanyahu is 6 feet 0 inches, a height that is more than
that of the average man, According to the trait perspective, Netanyahu displayed intelligence seeing
that he was academically accomplished in his early days as well as his fluency seeing that he lead
several successful military operations. One could analyze and use the trait perspective to interpret the
early life of Benjamin Netanyahu and say that he was a born

Reason for Commercial Breaks
Commercial Breaks Commercials have become an integral part of television programs these days. We
don t find any channel or show without being interrupted by commercials. This is most likely because
commercials are the very means of financing a show or program. Programs are even designed keeping
in mind the time being allotted to commercials. People at various ages seem to have various reactions
to commercials. At times kids enjoy commercial showing cartoons or any other baby products, but
showing a commercial during cartoons really annoys them. In the same way programs that are
targeting adults, serious shows that indulge the audience, interruption by a commercial break is not
welcomed at all. In fact if one picks up an ongoing soap opera, which shows an hour long episode,
each week is usually composed of fifty minutes of the show and ten to fifteen minutes of commercials.
Baywatch is a very popular television series being shown on star world these days. Since this is its
repeat telecast it is shown in the afternoon rather then in prime time. I seem to enjoy the show to a
very extent because it is composed of exotic scenes, drama and cool stunts. Yes, Baywatch is one of
my favorite shows on television. I haven t missed a single episode even when this show was shown on
prime time. I would leave all my work and sit in front of the television at 9:00pm. I wouldn t even
allow my dad to watch the prime time news of CNN at that time. Well those old days passed and now

Safety of Genetically Modified Organisms
Genetically modified organism
Most existing genetically modified crops have been developed to improve yield, through the
introduction of resistance to plant diseases or of increased tolerance of herbicides. Currently available
GM foods stem mostly from plants, but in the future foods derived from GM microorganisms or GM
animals are likely to be introduced on the market. GMOs are the source of genetically modified foods,
and are also widely used in scientific research and to produce goods other than food. Currently
available GM foods stem mostly from plants, but in the future foods derived from GM
microorganisms or GM animals are likely to be introduced on the market. Most of the concern
surrounding GMO s relates to their potential for negative effects on the environment and human
health. are genetically modified plants (FDA website). As a result of these risks, many people in the
United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and other nations are demanding non genetically modified (non
GMO) foods.
A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using
genetic engineering techniques. FAO/WHO Codex guidelines exist for risk analysis of GM food.

Visual Perception and Visual Imagery Essay
If visual imagery and visual perception shared many of the same processes, then much of what is
known to date about perception may be used and adapted to be able to understand the more internal
and ambiguous process of visual imagery. The question is how much of mental imagery is actually a
part of visual perception? The concept of a unitary mechanism has been recurrently mentioned in the
text, although little has been said about what it means and implies. This is a term coined by Stephen
Kosslyn (2005), he provided a model of visual imagery in which a single visual buffer is used bottom
up to display visual percepts and top down to display internally generated images. The main claim is
that the brain areas that implement the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another type of research is single case studies in which double dissociations have gravely challenged
the model, such cases involve patients in which imagery was impaired and perception was speared and
vice versa (Shallice, 1988). Although measures of haemodynamic activity and brain lesion studies
provide some insightful information on the issue, other behavioural data is necessary to understand
whether visual imagery is processed in the same way as perception. Finke and Pinker (1982) used
reaction times as a mental tape measure in which participants were required to look at an array of dots,
once the dots disappeared and an arrow appeared, participants were requested to indicate whether the
arrow was pointing at a previous dot or not. If the distance of the arrow was increased than the
reaction time was expected to increase while one imagines scanning the image. This final research
begs for the question, would eye movements show the same pattern of scanning ? If visual perception
and visual imagery have so much in common, than we might expect that the eye sequences present in
visual perception will also be present and similar in visual imagery. There is strong evidence that this
is in fact true, several studies show that spontaneous eye movements occur during visual imagery and
in most of the studies the movements reflect the content and spatial relations of the originally
perceived object. In a study by Brandt and Stark (1997) the

Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency ( Access Copyright )...
In the case of The Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright) vs. York University, I
believe that the plaintiff, Access Copyright, will not be successful in their lawsuit against the
defendant, York University.
Access Copyright is a non profit agency that represents writers and publishers by collecting and
distributing royalty fees on their behalf. Although this is a non profit organization, Access Copyright
does still charge administration fees for their services and enforces a business model that has worked
its way into attempting to monopolize their copyright services by making their presence mandatory
through seeking to implement a permanent tariff for industries to pay if they are not licensing the
rights to copyrighted material through their agency. York University, the defendant, is one of several
Canadian Universities that has been operating outside of the Access Copyright s temporary tariff since
2011. The wise decision to operate outside of Access Copyright is supported by the University s
proven commitment to ensuring that all access to copyrighted materials for studying, teaching, and
research purposes are being properly used with the appropriate payment to authors and publishers
independently. By ensuring that both the authors and publishers copyrighted materials are
compensated and all royalties are paid directly towards them this cuts out the need for a middleman,
which in this case is Access Copyright.

Hughes And The Harlem Renaissance
Negro life is seizing its first chances for group expression and self determination. This quote comes
from a highly acclaimed critic and teacher Alain Locke. The Harlem Renaissance, or the New Negro
Movement, was a literary, artistic, and intellectual movement that kindled a new black cultural identity
in the 1920 s to the mid 1930s (History.com). Harlem was the Mecca for black writers, musicians,
poets, and scholars. The Harlem Renaissance included visual arts, but excluded jazz, even though it
have similarity as a black art form. The combination of whites prejudice and the exotic world of
Harlem sought out and published black writers. Since much of the literature focuses on realistic black
life, conservative black s critics feared that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

South offered to African Americans. Hughes attended Columbia University in 1920, but only
completed one year. He worked various jobs as a merchant seaman, night club in Paris, and a busboy
in Washington D.C. Hughes also covered the Spanish American War and was part of the American
Communist party. In one of Hughes s essay titled, The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain, he
outlined his philosophy on the Harlem Renaissance and saw the problems ahead of black artists: One
of the most promising of the young Negro Poet, meaning, I believe, I want to write like a white poet,
meaning subconsciously, I would like to be a white poet; meaning behind that, I would like to be
white. And I was sorry the young man said that, for no great poet has never been afraid of being
himself. (Shoomp.com). the quote itself sums up what African Americans artists have to face during
this time. Whites dominated the literary industry and black artists had a chance to overcome the
adversity, but knowing the consequences and timid to be themselves, ultimately led to the Harlem
Renaissance and the upcoming poet, Langston

America Before Columbus And The Columbian Exchange
In modern America, we often take for granted the natural world that surrounds us and the American
culture which is built upon it. For many of us, we give little thought to the food sources that sustain
and natural habitats that surround us because when viewed for what they are, most people assume that
they have simply existed since the country was founded. However, the documentary America Before
Columbus provided this writer an extremely interesting record of how the America we know came to
exist. In the documentary, one of the most interesting discussions centered on the fact that it was not
merely the arrival of conquistadors and colonists that irrevocably changed the landscape of the
Americas, but that it was also the coined term known as the Columbian Exchange that afforded these
travelers the ability to proliferate so successfully. The basic definition of the Columbian exchange is
one that defines the importation of European flora and fauna. It could also loosely represent other
imports, both intended and unintended, such as tools, implements, and even disease. Armed with this
definition, it takes little imagination to envision how differently the Americas might have developed
had any significant amount of the native European flora, fauna, or other unintended import not been
conveyed to the Americas through the Columbian Exchange. Beyond the arrival of explorers, settlers,
and colonists to the New World, the breadth of what the Columbian Exchange represented to

The Effects Of Fast Food On The Food Industry
Think Skinny Thoughts
In 2007, one study found that 31 percent of American men and 33 percent of American women have a
body mass index of 30, at least. This means that in society today, they are considered obese (Human
Diet, 2014). 1/3 of children are overweight or obese. 2/3 of adults are overweight or obese (McCarthy,
2010).What is causing this mad epidemic outbreak? Media is enticing the eyes of many viewers by the
way they present themselves (What Causes Obesity, 2006). Advertisements in the fast food industry
are persuading people to eat their greasy, fat, salty, unhealthy foods (McDonald s Advertising Themes,
2013). In order for people to live a happy, healthy life, they must change their eating habits. However,
fast food advertisements are contributing to what is making eating habits so hard to change, with their
misleading advertising. Fast food is slowly but surely killing us, yet we hardly notice until it finally
hits hard. In this first advertisement, a skinning, young female with sun kissed skin, glistening with
moisture on her body from the heat of the sun hitting her, is enjoying a big juicy hamburger. Her hair

Personal Narrative-Plowing Water
I was at the point of suffocation. The massive rubber soles overpowered my own feet, the heavily
insulated vest pressed my sides together, and I could have sworn it clenched me tighter and tighter by
the second. The mask compressed against my face, concealing my eyes and nose from the air I
desperately longed for. It forced me to breathe out of a compact tube, exposing the claustrophobia I
did not know I had. But before I even had time to think, I went plunging under. The tepid salt water
instantly enveloped me, and within seconds I floated back to the top. I was mystified by what may be
lurking beneath my legs, which were plowing back and forth to keep me up straight. I immediately

The Medicines Compacy
The Medicines Company What is the value of Angiomax to a hospital? Both Angiomax and Heparin
are widely used as an anticoagulant in acute coronary heart treatment. Since Angiomax is a potential
substitute for Heparin, Angiomax can be of great value to a hospital. Angiomax has three significant
advantages over Heparin. First, the effects of Angiomax are more accurate and dependable which
makes the product more predictable. Second, Angiomax doesn t require a 2 3 hour wait time for
results whereas Heparin does. Last but not least, Angiomax is safer for patients that are at risk for
bleeding. In all, it is effective in reducing complications or death in a hospital, which lead to a

model of rescuing abandoned drugs? Just as anything, the company does face the risk of failure. The
fact that they are abandoned drugs should be a red flag as well. There is a reason and probably
multiple reasons why other companies abandoned these drugs. The list could include cost, profit,
safety, effectiveness, and much more. You have to wonder why this company thinks they can make a
difference in these abandoned drugs. Lets say Angiomax does become a success. Does this mean the
other drugs that they promote will be successful as well? Definitely not. Since the Medicines

they don t have other drugs on the market that are or attaining FDA approval. I don t think that the
Medicines Company is ready to pursue this business model. Their focus should remain on Angiomax.

The Best Vacation Spots
There are many places to go for a vacation. Usually the most popular choices are the soft sandy
beaches or the white snowy mountains. Both places offer a ton of exciting activities to do through out
the day and night. In a contrasting perspective the beach offers a variety of amenities that the
mountains do not and vice versa. These get away spots are very different in many ways such as
climate, actives to do and location. The climate is a very important part of planning a trip. It
determines all sorts of things like the clothes you ll wear and the things you ll be doing. In the
mountains where the forestation is extremely vivacious, the air is crisp, the altitude is very high, and
the temperature is freezing cold. In response to the drastic weather change, big thick insulated jackets,
mittens, beanies, scarves, and snow boots are necessary to keep warm. Also, Due to the severe

Brand Luther Chapter Summary
Brand Luther, written by Andrew Pettergree, approaches the life of Martin Luther and seeks to explain
how a monk took his small town, turned it into one of the largest publishing centers of Germany, made
his name known by all, and gave birth to the period in time known as the Protestant Reformation. The
book itself is divided into twelve chapters, each going into detail about events leading up to, as well
as, during the Reformation, and the events that transpired after the death of Martin Luther. Beginning
in Part One, A Single Man, the first chapter and second chapters, A Small Town in Germany and
Making of a Revolutionary, discusses the origins of the town of Wittenberg, the book trade of
Germany prior to Luther s influence, the elector of Saxony, Luther s early life and that would lead to
his attack on indulgences, Frederick the Wise s ambition for the town of Wittenberg and the work he
put into the town in order to make it both a religious as well as intellectual powerhouse that it would
come to be known as. Overall, this chapter serves the purpose of opening to the events that would
transpire regarding Luther, Wittenberg, the Catholic Church, and the printing industry of Germany.

Globalization of the Economy
Economic globalization has voluminous positive influences on international security as well. The most
important effect of economic globalization is that it curbs the authority of state. It also reduces states
dependence on military based security and ultimately reduces states monopoly on security. This effect
is considered by many, a prime factor contributing towards peace and stability. There are number of
factors associated with economic globalization which affects states authority.
Firstly, present economic globalization has opened the door of opportunities for most of the countries.
Though developed countries are making most profit from this opportunity but developing and even
least developing countries are also exploiting the mutual benefit. Due to open competition local
productions in less developed and developing countries are achieving better performance and
standard. Economic globalization is also creating employment opportunities in those countries. On the
other hand states are losing their monopoly on tax collection due to mismatch of economic and
political jurisdiction, and internet based trade. Thus, on one hand economy has become priority for
states, and on the other hand states losing part of its control on economy. Therefore, economic
globalization is exerting its authority on political and state power.
Secondly, with economic globalization there is an immense increase of the number of MNCs and their
power in influencing politics. These MNCs, as

The Things They Carried’ by Tim O’Brien Essay
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien provides a insider s view of war and its distractions, both
externally in dealing with combat and internally dealing with the reality of war and its effect on each
solder. The story, while set in Vietnam, is as relevant today with the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan
as it was in the 1960 s and 1970 s in Southeast Asia. With over one million soldiers having completed
anywhere from one to three tours in combat in the last 10 years, the real conflict might just be inside
the soldier. O Brien reflects this in his writing technique, using a blend of fiction and autobiographical
facts to present a series of short narratives about a small unit of soldiers. While a war story, it is also
an unrequited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of pathos and ethos in tandem strengthens his writing, but also leads to some parts being
almost tedious. As PFCs or Spec 4s, most of them were common grunts and carried the standard M 16
gas operated assault rifle. The weapon weighed 75 pounds unloaded, 8.2 pounds with its full twenty
round magazine. Depending on numerous factors, such as topography and psychology, the riflemen
carried anywhere from twelve to twenty magazines... (O Brien 1990). This paragraph almost drones
on losing the reader in a myriad of technical mumbo jumbo and measurements before getting back on
target with the story of the soldier s life in the field. The organization of the text can be hard to follow
when he goes on about the equipment. On the other hand O Brien takes the role of narrator; clearly he
is invested emotionally in the story. However, the drama of the moment can be diluted with too much
fact and not enough emotion. Taking each character and peeling back the soldier layers to expose us to
the person underneath, he also creates moments that are poignant and riveting. For the most part they
carried themselves with poise, a kind of dignity. Now and then, however, there were times of panic,
when they squealed or wanted to squeal but couldn t. When they twitched and made moaning sounds
and covered their heads and said Dear Jesus and flopped around on the earth and fired their weapons
blindly and cringed and sobbed and begged for the noise to stop and went wild and made

Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Lysistrata, Calonice...
In the ancient world, views of women were often derogatory, yet some viewed women as intelligent
and powerful. The Epic of Gilgamesh and Lysistrata both display the complex opinions towards
women of the time. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the characters Shamhat and Ishtar provide the audience
with a biased view towards women, but this work also provides a more positive opinion of women
through Siduri, Utnapishtim s wife, and Aruru. As paralleled in Aristophanes s Lysistrata, Calonice
and Peace represent negative perspectives of women, but this play also portrays women positively
with Lysistrata and Myrrhine. The ancient texts of The Epic of Gilgamesh and Lysistrata
simultaneously depict women as inferior, equal to, and superior to men to represent the complex views
of women that were present during ancient times. The Epic of Gilgamesh renders women as
subordinate to men through the characters Shamhat and Ishtar. In this epic, Shamhat is a prostitute and
must obey men s wishes. As Gilgamesh wants to civilize Enkidu, he tells the hunter, Take with you
Shamhat the harlot, when the wild beasts draw near the water hole, let her strip off her clothing ,
laying bare her charms (103). Although it is a part of Shamhat s job to do what men want, Gilgamesh
speaking about controlling her actions suggests that he believes women should always defer to men.
Furthermore, Gilgamesh insists Enkidu have sex with Shamhat in order for him to become a man

Poe uses close description and large amounts of figurative language to bring through the ideas of trust,

Advantages Of Dispensationalism
1. Dispensationalism A Legitimate Theological System
Dispensationalism is a word that most theologians would sneer at because it is seen as a perversion of
the Scriptures. These theologians would not recognize the history of dispensationalism purely because
it would be seen as a relatively new system of interpreting Scripture. Dispensational theology receives
a lot of criticism because it is not properly understood.
Dispensationalism is mainly conservative in biblical interpretation and while there seems to be a
negative connotation to the word Evangelical ; those who subscribe to a dispensational view point are
evangelical Christians in a sense.

assessing the Scriptures just like any other piece of literature and to place the text within their primary

The House full of Fighting Spirit The House of Spirits by Isabel Allende is a bewitching novel that
captivates the reader from start to end. Allende uses various forms of literary techniques to capture
important themes within the storyline. In the text, Allende expresses the way men dominate women as
the female characters of the story are limited to make graver decisions past relying on their men.
Though these women naturally seek approval from men this does not handicap them from stepping
outside their shadow as powerful women with the willingness to endure many obstacles. This essay

the theme of feminism and female bond within the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the storyline and its characters. There is something very real and very supernatural in Allende s novel.
Allende portrays the world in which the everyday and the supernatural coexist. expresses Stephen H.
Hart in his article. The House of Spirits can be categorized as magical realism in literature, but
Stephen M. Hart refers to it as subalternised supernatural and argues that Subaltern Studies makes

that while the story touches base with real history with its women s rights movements, the evident

Essay Battle of Gettysburg
Battle of Gettysburg
This most famous and most important Civil War Battle occurred over three hot summer days, July 1 to
July 3, 1863, around the small market town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It began as a skirmish but by
its end involved 160,000 Americans.
Before the battle, major cities in the North such as Philadelphia, Baltimore and even Washington were
under threat of attack from General Robert E. Lee s Confederate Army of Northern Virginia which had
crossed the Potomac River and marched into Pennsylvania.
The Union Army of the Potomac under its very new and untried commander, General George G.
Meade, marched to intercept Lee.
On Tuesday morning, June 30, an infantry brigade of Confederate soldiers searching for shoes ...

Cavalry leader Jeb Stuart had gone off with his troops to harass the Federals. Stuart s expedition
would turn out to be for the most part a wild goose chase which left Lee at a disadvantage until he
returned.
Lee decided to attack the Union Army s defensive position at the southern end of Cemetery Ridge
which he thought was less well defended.
About 10 a.m. the next morning, Thursday, July 2, Gen. Longstreet was ordered by Lee to attack. But
Longstreet was quite slow in getting his troops into position and didn t attack until 4 p.m. that
afternoon thus giving the Union Army even more time to strengthen its position.
When Longstreet attacked, some of the most bitter fighting of the Civil War erupted at places now part
of American military folklore such as Little Round Top, Devil s Den, the Wheat Field and the Peach
Orchard. Longstreet took the Peach Orchard but was driven back at Little Round Top.
About 6:30 p.m. Gen. Ewell attacked the Union line from the north and east at Cemetery Hill and
Culp s Hill. The attack lasted into darkness but was finally unsuccessful at Cemetery Hill, although
the Rebels seized some trenches on Culp s Hill.
By about 10:30 p.m., the day s fighting came to an end. The Federals had lost some ground during the
Rebel onslaught but still held the strong defensive position along Cemetery Ridge.
Both sides regrouped and counted their causalities while the

Debates Of Euthanasia And Physician-Assisted Suicide
1. The current debates of euthanasia
Euthanasia and physician assisted suicide are acts that strike at the heart of what it means to be human
the moral acts that make us who we are, or better, who we ought to be. Debates about the ethics of
euthanasia date back from ancient Greece and Rome and has become more and more well known in
the present time.
In order to deal with the question of euthanasia properly, it is first necessary to define it. Generally,
euthanasia requires the physician to perform a medical procedure that causes death directly.
Euthanasia should clearly be defined as a deliberate act or omission that causes death, undertaken by
one person with the primary intention of ending the life of another person, in order to relieve

Edm Research Paper
Electronic music is without a doubt the most rapidly expanding genre in its industry. While this may
be due to it s progressive yet addictive structured melody and catchy beats, one may wonder just how
EDM has become so popular. After a careful examination of the topic, it is evident that EDM s rise to
fame is due to its international culture, underground history with dance clubs, and leaves a mark in our
world differently than any other genre.
Edm being a more modern genre made it s production easily accessible by all countries thanks to the
innovation of the digital audio workstation (DAW). Unlike genre s in the past, Edm was created and

Describe How The Design Of Respiratory System Facilitates...
DESCRIBE HOW THE DESIGN OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FACILITATES GAS EXCHANGE?
SID:
Process of respiration involves supply of oxygen to blood cells (oxygen intake) and excretion of
carbon dioxide and other waste (CO2 excretion). Purified blood is carried to all parts of the body by
blood vessels in order to achieve gaseous exchange at cell level. This process is carried out through a
complex system called Respiratory System. Organs which comprise respiratory system include mouth,
nasal passage, glottis, trachea, larynx, pharynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli and last but not the least
lungs.
In the following lines, we ll discuss in details how the structures of respiratory system accomplish
exchange of gases.
The upper respiratory tract comprises those organs that bring the air in and lower respiratory tract
comprises those parts that process the air. Upper respiratory tract starts from the nose and the mouth.
They enable the air to enter through external nares (nostrils). Behind the nostrils there are little shelves
of bone called nasal conchae (superior, middle and inferior). They divide the nasal cavity into thin
passages called meatuses. (Jahangir, 2015). Surface areas of nasal conchae creates turbulence, forcing
the air to get bounced in the nasal cavity and increase the surface area of these cavities, thus allowing
the mucus to trap the dirt, bacteria and enable only warm, clean and moist air as it passes down to the
lungs. (Rogers, 2012)

preserved remains of whales, scientist have determined that whales have only recently evolved to be
the large animals that we know today. Though not sure, the scientist state that the evolutionary shift

The shift in whale size occurred during the beginning of the Ice Age and the increase in ice sheets may
have caused a change in the distribution of food. Before the ice sheets, food would have been evenly
distributed; however, as the ice sheets formed, run off would ve increased the amount of food like krill
and plankton in the water, this increase along with the filter feeding mechanism of the baleen whale
would have given the advantage to larger whale, who would have been able to utilize the dense
aggregations of prey in the water.

A. This study mainly focuses within Big Idea 1, the process of evolution drives the diversity and unity
of life. Within the study, the scientists observed how organism are linked by a common ancestry (1.B)
through cladograms and the width of the skull from fossil records. With these fossils, the scientists
observed the shift of size in the whale s bodies and how organisms from a common ancestor change
and differentiate in structure over time. This allowed for them to see what traits were gained and lost,
causing not only speciation in the organisms but also overall phenotypic changes. Similarly, in this
study, the scientists were able to unveil how life continues to evolve with a changing environment.
Extinctions and speciation occur all the time due to the environment. Though it s not proven, the

Their skills and expertise in the print market which has previously won awards are potentially going to
be lost by changing markets. Not only this re training might be required which will cost the company a
lot of money.
Harrys strategy involved getting rid of the print works and distribution network as they are surplus to
requirements. Although this will reduce wage costs and increase ROCE which is an objective of the
business, redundancies cost money and with the long serving nature of the work force de motivation
could occur between the surviving staff as long time friends may lose their jobs. 75% of the staff at the
company are part of a trade union compared to an industry average of 50% who are not afraid of
taking action. Unrest between the staff could lead to industrial action such as strikes which not only
create bad publicity for the business but costs RM money as production could be delayed or even
halted.
The change in market will cause some old customers to be lost who don t want to read a digital
magazine or don t have the ability to. for this reason a launch campaign will be required to attract new
customers which will increase the amount of money spent on marketing and might not be viable
depending on their budget.
The strategy also plans for relocation of the business to Manchester. The new location is smaller and
also cheaper. It also plans to encourage employees to work from home which should also further

our friend at his place in Florida. However, we were still much ahead of the rest of our group who had
just left Indiana. As we entered the sunshine state we called Jake to see where we needed to go from
there. He gave us some directions as he took shots in a bar which made us skeptical as to how accurate
his directions were in the first place. Although we were unsure of the accuracy of the directions given
to us by our drunken friend we took the roads we were told to take. Unfortunately, our fears came to
life when we wound up 2 hours in the complete opposite direction of where we needed to be. At this
point, it was 4 a.m. Jake was sure he had told us to go the other way of what he had told us. Even to
this day he swears he told us the right way we just turned the opposite direction. Our only option was
to turn around and drive back 4 hours the way we came to get to his house to get some shut eye. We
made great time getting back on track and arriving in Jakes town. It was now around 7 am in Florida
and Jake had stopped answering his phone an hour ago. We had no idea where to go now that we were

The Self Image Of Young Adults
For many, many decades Americans have suffered from self image because of inner conflicts causing
very low self esteem issues. Many of these conflicting identity issues play into these severe inflictions
with one s self. Teens and young adults have a troubled existence of feeling incompetent, unloved,
unworthy and leaving them unable to fit into the crowd because of their body image leaving an
imprint of a certain way to look. As Early as age five, children have been brainwashed with secular
television shows and cartoons with figures of slimming women with twenty four inch waste lines and
voluptuous, flawless petite bodies. But it is not only young girls being attacked of self image but boys
to revise things lacking of self image, growing facial hair and muscles rippling through their shirt with
a six pack to prove their masculinity. Media and parents have set a standard to how you should look,
and what is presentable and what is not; leaving them with an impaired self worth. The lifestyle of an
all American individual self image and low confidence withers through media, disengaged parental the
lack of awareness from educational resources. Media and television show, orbit around America and

Depictions of Mark Zuckerburg in The Social Network
In the film The Social Network, directed by David Fincher, the character Mark Zuckerberg is depicted
as an arrogant, egocentric person who will lie and harm the people around him to get to where he
wants. Zuckerberg s ex girlfriend Erica Albright brakes up with him and as a result of his emotions of
that night, he creates a website that becomes very popular within hours of being up, and ultimately

beginning of a giant chain reaction that each decision leads to another bigger conflict. Mark
Zuckerbergs arrogance is seen throughout the entire film, but his arrogance is predominantly seen in
the opening scene, when Zuckerberg is with Erica Albright, at a bar, and not listening to a word of
what she is saying. He says how do you distinguish yourself in a population of people who all got

Sickle Cell Disease ( Ocd )
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is an inherited autosomal recessive condition that causes the red blood cells
(RBCs) to be crescent shaped. Sickle cell disease occurs in 1 out of every 400 African Americans
births (Field, et al 2009). And according to the Centers of Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), 1
out of 13 African American babies are born with the sickle cell trait (SCT). At the same time SCD is
present in only 1 out of 300 Caucasian babies, thus it is considered to be one of the most prevalent
genetic health disparities affecting people of African, Indian, Hispanic, and Mediterranean decent
(Kotch, et al 2000).
In order for a person to have this disease, both parents have to carry the Sickle Cell Trait. This trait is
given to the parents by their parents in which one of them has the sickle cell gene S and the other has
the normal A gene. Children are diagnosed with SCD as early as 4 months old and accurately
diagnosed by the age of 6 months old.
Normal RBCs are disc shaped in which they are able to easily travel throughout the body, especially
through the tiniest blood vessels. However, with sickled shaped RBCs, they clump together while
flowing through these particularly small vessels, which causes the loss of oxygen throughout the
tissues and organs. This monogenetic disease is caused by a point mutation in the β globin gene that
creates abnormal Hemoglobin S (HbS). There are five different haplotypes for SCD that are classified
by their geographical region

Analysis Of The Movie Rogue One
The primary source that is being analyzed in this paper is a trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film,
Rogue One. It was released in early April by Lucasfilm and Disney. While the actual movie doesn t
drop until December 16, the trailers people have seen so far display quite a lot about the theme,
attitude and how dark the upcoming film will be. These few pages of rhetorical analysis will mainly
focus on how much darker Rogue One will be and how that compares to and changes the previous
films and media. Before getting to deep into the analysis of the trailer, it is important for people who
are not very familiar with the terminology of Star Wars know the basics of the universe. Rogue One
will take place during the third and fourth films. The two main factions are the Rebellion, who are
painted as the true heroes of the movies, and the Empire, who are shown to be an evil regime in the
galaxy. The Empire has constructed a superweapon called the Death Star, which has the firepower to
destroy a planet in one use of its weapon. This weapon is unknown to most of the galaxy, but the
Rebellion knows of its existence. It is also important to distinguish that there are many new characters
to the franchise in this film. First of which is a woman named Jyn Erso. She is given a brief
description in the beginning of the trailer. Mon Mothma describes her as reckless, aggressive, and
undisciplined . In addition to this, Jyn is said to have a fairly long criminal record, including assault

Parallel Plot Structure Of Wes Moore
Wes Moore written by Wes Moore published in April 27, 2010. Where it covers the autobiography and

two young boys that are oddly similar but both end up with to different fates. The book goes into great
detail on how one became a convicted criminal serving a life sentence and one a Rhodes Scholar. The
purpose of Wes Moore writing his book is to determine one s success. That being a Nurture vs Nature.

exposure to Wes further plays in later parts of his life. For example where Wes was attack by a racist
he chooses not to fight back because he has flashbacks to these experiences. Of his early life and how
people educated him to always be formable. The style that Wes was taught shine in this, if you read
through the book. The book doesn t mention of Wes ever getting himself into fights. Thus pomp a

where Wes is instructed to be more courteous. It is said in the book and it reads you kids are way too

his outlook on the police. Where the other Wes Moore would find to view the police has an obstacle

those who have broken it. That s what exactly author Wes Moore has done and he understands he has

The Crucible and The Salem Witch Trials by Arthur Miller...
Arthur Miller wrote plays as a way of showing people the real picture of what life was really like
during the Great Depression and after World War II. Before the Great Depression many Americans
were living in a significant time period, the Roaring Twenties. People had radios, automobiles, and
movies with sounds. Then it all suddenly came to an end with the Stock Market Crash, leading to the
Great Depression. During the Great Depression, Americans faced poverty, and had no income because
jobs weren t available. Throughout his life Miller influenced many people with his plays, and his
contributions to this day because people want to read and understand what was truly happening in past
history. For example, The Crucible is a play about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, their marriage spiraled downward and they eventually divorced. While Miller was married
to his first wife, he had an affair with Marilyn Monroe, who later would become his wife. Marilyn
Monroe was a great influence in his life inspiring him to write After the Fall (1964), which was an
open portrayal of his marriage with Monroe.
Arthur s purpose for writing literature was to unmask the problems and issues of capitalism so the
people could have a fair understanding of the truth but in his plays rather than newspapers and
magazines. In the nineteen fifty s, Miller was starting to go downhill. During this time, one of Millers
most popular and recognized works; The Crucible was playing on Broadway. The Crucible showed a
relationship with the Communist Red Scare that America was facing during this. The Communist Red
Scare took place shortly after the end of World War I. It was a nationwide fear of communist,
socialists, and other fears America was facing. Since the Red Scare was such a big deal to many
Americans during this time in American history, Millers face drastically declined. With the production
of Millers, The Crucible, it brought more attention and suspicion on Miller. In the middle of the
nineteen fifty s, he was called to testify in front of the House Committee on Un American Activity,

The Transcontinental Railroad Was A Marvel Of Engineering...
November 17th, 2017
The Transcontinental Railroad is a marvel of engineering and perseverance. A transcontinental railroad
is railroad that crosses through a continent. It was built between 1862 and 1869 across the United
States. The initial project was proposed in 1845, but it took more time to start the dangerous
construction. It had multiples consequences for the United States, not all positive. But the
Transcontinental Railroad did affect the westward expansion.
In 1845, Asa Whitney, an important New York merchant, asked Congress for charters and funding for
the construction of the railroad. Congress refused, mainly because of Senator Thomas H. Benton of
Missouri, who prefered that the transcontinental railroad originated from Saint ... Show more content

When the Union Pacific Railroad starts building, it is in 1862, in the middle of the Civil War. There
was a lack of labor since most people went to fight. Because of the lack of workers, during the whole
Civil War, only forty miles of track were laid from Omaha by the Union Pacific. However, when the
Civil War ended in 1865, the construction went much faster. The U.P. employed Irish immigrants and
Civil War veterans to build the railroad. The workers laid 1,087 miles of track between Omaha, NE
and Utah. The Central Pacific Railroad had much less land to cover, but they had to build through the
harsh Sierra Nevada mountains. The workers were mostly Chinese immigrants that came to California
from the Gold Rush of 1849. They lived in brutal condition, and had very low salaries. Quote buy

parts of mountain to get the railroad through.
The Bloomer Cut was the first major engineering problem for the railroad. It took a year to build, from
1864 to 1865. It was eight hundred feet long and sixty five feet high, and it still exist to this day.
Another challenge was Cape Horn, a steep passage following the curve of the mountain at a thousand
and three hundred feet high with a slope of 45 to 75 degrees.. It was named after the dangerous
passage that ships use at the southern tip of South America.

Analysis Of Rodney Walker s Speech
On October 15, 2017, Rodney Walker gave a presentation on The Power of Perseverance: From 12
Foster Homes to Harvard University. This presentation was given at the Zlock Performing Arts Center
at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA in front of about one hundred people ranging
from high school and college students to educators. The presentation was on Rodney Walker s life
story of how he grew up in a violent Southside Chicago neighborhood and lived in many foster
homes, but through perseverance and mentorship, he became highly determined and strong. During
the presentation I was critiquing his public speaking, but not in the context of what he was talking
about, but rather about how he spoke to the audience. I found some good ... Show more content on

While speaking, Walker seems to have poor eye contact as he seemed to look down at the floor more
than at his audience. In the book it states, Speakers in the United States who fail to establish eye
contact are perceived as tentative or ill at ease and may be seen as insincere or dishonest (Lucas, 250).
The presentation was a personal life story so it was recited from memory and no manuscript was used
by Walker, so I believe that his eye contact should have been stronger. Stephen Lucas mentioned in
Chapter 13 that the speaker s volume, pitch, rate, pauses, vocal variety, pronunciation, articulation,
and dialect are all important in public speaking (Lucas, 243). Walker would change the volume of his
speaking during certain parts of the presentation to emphasize it and take a longer pause after certain
statements to make an impact on the audience. He also used changes in his pitch and had vocal
variations when he was speaking about something emotional or very serious during certain parts of the
presentation. Even though, Walker s presentation was very interesting and empowering, there was one
thing that lessened its purpose and it was his visual aid that was very distracting while he was
speaking. The visual aid was a video with audio playing in the background as Walker was speaking.
This took away from Walker as a speaker because the entire audience wanted to

Essay on Deaf President Now
Deaf President Now
Deaf President Now!
All throughout history when an issue or problem presented it s self to a group of individuals. Their
voices together would bring about change through toil and determination. However, what if the world
couldn t hear your voice or understand your language? The degree of effort and work for such a group
of people would seem futile. For the students of Gallaudet University, the barrier between the hearing
world and the Deaf world could not have stopped them. On March 6, the decision of the university s
Broad of Trustees to name Elisabeth Ann Ziner, a hearing women with no previous knowledge of the
deaf community, the university s seventh president. (Van Cleve p.170) Brought ... Show more content

Of all the candidates who were up for the presidency of the university, only one of them was not deaf.
This fact only fueled the fire when candidate was chosen. More or less sending a message into the
deaf community that deaf people still seemed to be less capable or qualified as a hearing person. Yet,
although DPN was a movement for equality and many other issues, it was a milestone in the Deaf
Culture. Deaf President Now showed the world that deaf people and the deaf world could be united
around a common issues and fight. Especially one of this importance. Gallaudet University represents
the pinnacle of education for deaf people, not only in the United States but throughout the world. (Van
Cleve p.172) Would it not be fitting for a university founded within deaf culture, be headed by one
who was a part of that culture? Obviously there is no question. All throughout the entire Deaf
President Now movement, the message was clear that deaf people have the self determination and
capability as any other hearing person. To watch hundreds of deaf students and supports protest from
Gallaudet University to our nation s capital, using American Sign Language as their only medium of
communication. Only shows the effect of the power and intelligence (Van Cleve p. 173) behind sign
language. With similar unity in the future, they may move into a

The Intermodal Shipping Container is a large steel box...
The Intermodal Shipping Container is a large steel box that was created to transport goods by train,
truck, or ship for around the last 50 years. The pioneer of this revolutionizing box goes is a man by the
name of Malcom McLean who began his transportation interest with his trucking company (McLean
Trucking) that he built into one of the nation s largest. From there, he developed the steel container in
1956, which replaced the previous loading and unloading method known as the Break Bulk Method.
The Break Bulk Method was a much less efficient method where all goods are loaded individually
using bags, boxes, drums, crates, or barrels instead of unified large containers. This method definitely
being much more time consuming and risky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Containers at half height are used to carry heavy, low volume products in order to not waste extra air
space in containers. Last but not least, the car carrier containers are made specifically to transport
different types of vehicles safely and efficiently. With many of these containers having distinct
differences, they all serve the same general purpose for transportation.
Container ships have completely redefined efficiency in terms of shipping quantity, speed, and safety.
Before the mainstream introduction of container ships in the 1950 s, shipping by sea was slow, not
standardized, and very inefficient. Loading and unloading cargo required many long and strenuous
man hours, and was generally not safe. After World War II, the concept of standardized boxes for
shipping was starting to grow, and on April 20, 1956 the SS Maxton shipped 58 truck trailer vans from
New York to Houston. Their chassis were not connected, and the boxes were loaded and unloaded
from the ship by gantry crane one of the most important pieces of machinery in intermodal
containerization. This is not the first example of containerization, but indeed the first successful use of
an intermodal structure. Almost immediately after, more cargo ships underwent modifications for
these shipping containers. (Board)
Businesses instantly realized the benefits, ports and ships were quickly modified for intermodal
container support. However, they were not immediately as standardized as was necessary

The American Form Of Music
Country music is constantly changing, an example of this is how women are now viewed in country
music. The American form of music became popular in the 1920 s, and continued to grow, artists of
this era include the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, and Vernon Dalhart. One of country s most well
known female singers is Dolly Parton, becoming a major country star in the 1970 s. Dolly was one of
the first female artists to challenge the gender stereotypes in country music, this major success led to
her long career. She has contributed over 35 hits to country and popular music, including her album
Coat of Colors released in 1971, by RCA records was the album that changed her career. The 8th solo
album made it onto Time Magazine s 100 Greatest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, I choose the album Coat of Many Colors because of my strong love for country music. Dolly
Parton is a well known household name, and in my house is a name that is cherished. I personally
believe that the 1970 s was one of country s finest years, where the era produced many top hits. An
example of one of these top hits is Parton s Coat of Many Colors. The album also invoked my interest
is learning about the ways that Parton changed country music. It is inspiring to hear about a strong
female figure making her own career in a patriarchal society. This invoked my interest in the album,
learning about the effects that this album had. Overall, I feel as this album personally spoke to me and
intrigued me. The dynamics of the Coats of Many Colors helped to popularize it and establish and
portray Parton s musical abilities. The album includes 14 different tracks spanning a total of less than
30 minutes. The album contains a variety of different music styles and instruments. It is said that the
album has ties to the old time country and folk music. Yancey Strickler writes that it dabbles in
bluegrass and roots music, features triumphant, Memphis style R B, and winks at the majesty of pure
pop, all in a tidy 27 minutes (Strickler). Instruments that were used in the tracks were guitar, steel
guitar, bass, piano, drums, banjo, fiddle, and it incorporated the use of background vocals. Emotions
of anger, humour, reflection and glamour are reflected

Saussure saw a sense of purpose that comes when there is an association or relationship between the
forms of a Marker with an idea. Whereby a Marker is a meaningful sound or graffiti that is a mental
picture or concept. Semiotics creates a meaning which the object, not only contains the complex
information, but also carries emotional impact for the audience. Human senses will catch the signal
and then pull the impression to the brain, which leads to a conclusion of subjective meanings,
depending on the perspective of each audience (Desamba 2011). Semiotics is an investigation into
how meaning is created and how meaning is communicated. Its origins lie in the academic study of
how signs and symbols, both visual and linguistic, create meaning (Signsalad n.d.). Our actions and
thoughts, or what we do automatically, are often governed by a complex set of cultural messages and
conventions, dependent on our ability to interpret them instinctively and instantly. For instance, when
we see the different colours of a traffic light, we automatically know how to react to them. We know
this without even thinking about it. But this is sign which has been established by cultural convention
over a long period of time and which we learn as children, requiring a great deal of unconscious
cultural knowledge to understand its meaning. Everyone is a Semiotician,

A D High Tech (A): Managing Projects for Success:
A Negative View
1. What is the estimated project completion date? (Assume there are no holidays and ignore the sunk
cost of the planning team s effort)
The estimated project completion date is TUE 11/13/13 with duration of 127 days. After leveling and
re allocating work along the project line, the project got delayed for 3 days so that the completion day
moved up to FRI 11/21/13 (total duration of 130 days). (MS Project 2007)
2. What is the total cost? How much of the total cost are labor costs? Capital costs?
Total Cost: $98,500 + $844,980 = $943,480

* Project can not be delivered by scheduled date.
* Changes are required to scope, time, and cost.
Under present circumstances project would be delayed by 431 days, no way to deliver on project
completion date of November 18th, 2003.
Senior managers were adamant about project scope, so changes will be unlikely here.
Approve more funds to hire more resources, unclear how many will be needed to gain this amount of
time from the duration.
Allow the delivery to be delayed, this will ease the strain, (personal and mental) on resources, but will
increase costs.
3. What is (are) the critical path(s) in the project? What is the level of risk in completing tasks on the
critical path(s)? Explain.
Analyzing the critical path, there is a high level risk as it runs parallel to itself, more than one task at a
particular time could delay project. Some other tasks run parallel to the critical path and have same
duration; a delay in one of these tasks will change the critical path and delay the whole project.
Resources overuse
4. What is your opinion on the potential for the project to be completed on time?
Due to the high risk and tight schedule of the online store project, it has a high possibility to delay and
go behind schedule. And we would like to suggest some opinion about the management of the project

Looking for a Job and Stories from Korcula Island
It is 2010/2011 the summer is on the front door and I m start to think about the job that I could work
this summer. I was start searching on a few places and talk with some people for some free place to
work and at that moment it seems that I will have a job, but I was not feel some kind optimistic about
them. Day by day I feel relaxed with the fact that I have some free time to enjoy before I start with the
job and that was a pretty good for me. As the time was passing, of course no one of them still didn t
call me as I expect, so it was obvious that I will need some alternative to earn some money, somehow.
I start to search again but now it was to late, because everybody now have people to work for them. In
one moment I feel like Im without options but I new that at least I can count to work with my parents
with apartments, and to be honest that is not such bad. Everyday meeting new people from all around
the world, you can learn something about some other culture, mentality, and similar. On the Korcula
island summer is the best part of the year, there is a lot of people everywhere, a lot of event is going
on and it is really great compared to winter. The best day of the year is the 30. Of June, it is
celebrating the half of new year and it is at least three times better then anything else including the
new year itself. We were already prepared for that day, after all we new that it will come sooner or
later so what we could do else then to just use it to relax and enjoy

  • 2. Benjamin Netanyahu Qualities Benjamin Bibi Netanyahu was born on October 21,1949 in Tel Aviv and is a prominent world leader and the current Prime Minister of Israel. Truth be told, it was not always smooth sailing for Netanyahu and for most parts, it was an uphill battle for him. Despite all the impediments he faced along the way, he remained focus, had confidence and exhibited persistence (some of the many qualities of a true leader) and he persevered to get where he is today. In 1963, Benjamin Netanyahu took residence in the United States of America, particularly in the state of Philadelphia where he and his family moved as a result of his father Benzion Netanyahu receiving academic post. Benjamin returned to Israel at age 18 and got enlisted in 1967 in the Israeli military where he became a soldier and spent five years. • 3. Reason for Commercial Breaks Commercial Breaks Commercials have become an integral part of television programs these days. We don t find any channel or show without being interrupted by commercials. This is most likely because commercials are the very means of financing a show or program. Programs are even designed keeping in mind the time being allotted to commercials. People at various ages seem to have various reactions to commercials. At times kids enjoy commercial showing cartoons or any other baby products, but showing a commercial during cartoons really annoys them. In the same way programs that are targeting adults, serious shows that indulge the audience, interruption by a commercial break is not welcomed at all. In fact if one picks up an ongoing soap opera, which shows an hour long episode, each week is usually composed of fifty minutes of the show and ten to fifteen minutes of commercials. Baywatch is a very popular television series being shown on star world these days. Since this is its repeat telecast it is shown in the afternoon rather then in prime time. I seem to enjoy the show to a very extent because it is composed of exotic scenes, drama and cool stunts. Yes, Baywatch is one of my favorite shows on television. I haven t missed a single episode even when this show was shown on prime time. I would leave all my work and sit in front of the television at 9:00pm. I wouldn t even allow my dad to watch the prime time news of CNN at that time. Well those old days passed and now Baywatch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Safety of Genetically Modified Organisms Genetically modified organism Most existing genetically modified crops have been developed to improve yield, through the introduction of resistance to plant diseases or of increased tolerance of herbicides. Currently available GM foods stem mostly from plants, but in the future foods derived from GM microorganisms or GM animals are likely to be introduced on the market. GMOs are the source of genetically modified foods, and are also widely used in scientific research and to produce goods other than food. Currently available GM foods stem mostly from plants, but in the future foods derived from GM microorganisms or GM animals are likely to be introduced on the market. Most of the concern surrounding GMO s relates to their potential for negative effects on the environment and human health. are genetically modified plants (FDA website). As a result of these risks, many people in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan, and other nations are demanding non genetically modified (non GMO) foods. A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. FAO/WHO Codex guidelines exist for risk analysis of GM food. Scientists have cited many health and environmental risks with genetically modified (GM) foods. • 5. Visual Perception and Visual Imagery Essay If visual imagery and visual perception shared many of the same processes, then much of what is known to date about perception may be used and adapted to be able to understand the more internal and ambiguous process of visual imagery. The question is how much of mental imagery is actually a part of visual perception? The concept of a unitary mechanism has been recurrently mentioned in the text, although little has been said about what it means and implies. This is a term coined by Stephen Kosslyn (2005), he provided a model of visual imagery in which a single visual buffer is used bottom up to display visual percepts and top down to display internally generated images. The main claim is that the brain areas that implement the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another type of research is single case studies in which double dissociations have gravely challenged the model, such cases involve patients in which imagery was impaired and perception was speared and vice versa (Shallice, 1988). Although measures of haemodynamic activity and brain lesion studies provide some insightful information on the issue, other behavioural data is necessary to understand whether visual imagery is processed in the same way as perception. Finke and Pinker (1982) used reaction times as a mental tape measure in which participants were required to look at an array of dots, once the dots disappeared and an arrow appeared, participants were requested to indicate whether the arrow was pointing at a previous dot or not. If the distance of the arrow was increased than the reaction time was expected to increase while one imagines scanning the image. This final research begs for the question, would eye movements show the same pattern of scanning ? If visual perception and visual imagery have so much in common, than we might expect that the eye sequences present in visual perception will also be present and similar in visual imagery. There is strong evidence that this is in fact true, several studies show that spontaneous eye movements occur during visual imagery and in most of the studies the movements reflect the content and spatial relations of the originally perceived object. In a study by Brandt and Stark (1997) the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency ( Access Copyright )... In the case of The Canadian Copyright Licensing Agency (Access Copyright) vs. York University, I believe that the plaintiff, Access Copyright, will not be successful in their lawsuit against the defendant, York University. Access Copyright is a non profit agency that represents writers and publishers by collecting and distributing royalty fees on their behalf. Although this is a non profit organization, Access Copyright does still charge administration fees for their services and enforces a business model that has worked its way into attempting to monopolize their copyright services by making their presence mandatory through seeking to implement a permanent tariff for industries to pay if they are not licensing the rights to copyrighted material through their agency. York University, the defendant, is one of several Canadian Universities that has been operating outside of the Access Copyright s temporary tariff since 2011. The wise decision to operate outside of Access Copyright is supported by the University s proven commitment to ensuring that all access to copyrighted materials for studying, teaching, and research purposes are being properly used with the appropriate payment to authors and publishers independently. By ensuring that both the authors and publishers copyrighted materials are compensated and all royalties are paid directly towards them this cuts out the need for a middleman, which in this case is Access Copyright. • 7. Hughes And The Harlem Renaissance Negro life is seizing its first chances for group expression and self determination. This quote comes from a highly acclaimed critic and teacher Alain Locke. The Harlem Renaissance, or the New Negro Movement, was a literary, artistic, and intellectual movement that kindled a new black cultural identity in the 1920 s to the mid 1930s (History.com). Harlem was the Mecca for black writers, musicians, poets, and scholars. The Harlem Renaissance included visual arts, but excluded jazz, even though it have similarity as a black art form. The combination of whites prejudice and the exotic world of Harlem sought out and published black writers. Since much of the literature focuses on realistic black life, conservative black s critics feared that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hughes attended Columbia University in 1920, but only completed one year. He worked various jobs as a merchant seaman, night club in Paris, and a busboy in Washington D.C. Hughes also covered the Spanish American War and was part of the American Communist party. In one of Hughes s essay titled, The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain, he outlined his philosophy on the Harlem Renaissance and saw the problems ahead of black artists: One of the most promising of the young Negro Poet, meaning, I believe, I want to write like a white poet, meaning subconsciously, I would like to be a white poet; meaning behind that, I would like to be white. And I was sorry the young man said that, for no great poet has never been afraid of being himself. (Shoomp.com). the quote itself sums up what African Americans artists have to face during this time. • 8. America Before Columbus And The Columbian Exchange In modern America, we often take for granted the natural world that surrounds us and the American culture which is built upon it. For many of us, we give little thought to the food sources that sustain and natural habitats that surround us because when viewed for what they are, most people assume that they have simply existed since the country was founded. However, the documentary America Before Columbus provided this writer an extremely interesting record of how the America we know came to exist. In the documentary, one of the most interesting discussions centered on the fact that it was not merely the arrival of conquistadors and colonists that irrevocably changed the landscape of the Americas, but that it was also the coined term known as the Columbian Exchange that afforded these travelers the ability to proliferate so successfully. The basic definition of the Columbian exchange is one that defines the importation of European flora and fauna. It could also loosely represent other imports, both intended and unintended, such as tools, implements, and even disease. Armed with this definition, it takes little imagination to envision how differently the Americas might have developed had any significant amount of the native European flora, fauna, or other unintended import not been conveyed to the Americas through the Columbian Exchange. Beyond the arrival of explorers, settlers, and colonists to the New World, the breadth of what the Columbian Exchange represented to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Effects Of Fast Food On The Food Industry Think Skinny Thoughts In 2007, one study found that 31 percent of American men and 33 percent of American women have a body mass index of 30, at least. This means that in society today, they are considered obese (Human Diet, 2014). 1/3 of children are overweight or obese. 2/3 of adults are overweight or obese (McCarthy, 2010).What is causing this mad epidemic outbreak? Media is enticing the eyes of many viewers by the way they present themselves (What Causes Obesity, 2006). Advertisements in the fast food industry are persuading people to eat their greasy, fat, salty, unhealthy foods (McDonald s Advertising Themes, 2013). In order for people to live a happy, healthy life, they must change their eating habits. However, fast food advertisements are contributing to what is making eating habits so hard to change, with their misleading advertising. Fast food is slowly but surely killing us, yet we hardly notice until it finally hits hard. In this first advertisement, a skinning, young female with sun kissed skin, glistening with moisture on her body from the heat of the sun hitting her, is enjoying a big juicy hamburger. Her hair is brushed forward by the wind blowing gentle is seems, as she lays there in her petite, fitting, brown bikini. In the background, ocean blue waves peacefully and steadily ride ashore. The massive rubber soles overpowered my own feet, the heavily insulated vest pressed my sides together, and I could have sworn it clenched me tighter and tighter by the second. Since Angiomax is a potential substitute for Heparin, Angiomax can be of great value to a hospital. Angiomax has three significant advantages over Heparin. First, the effects of Angiomax are more accurate and dependable which makes the product more predictable. Second, Angiomax doesn t require a 2 3 hour wait time for results whereas Heparin does. Brand Luther Chapter Summary Brand Luther, written by Andrew Pettergree, approaches the life of Martin Luther and seeks to explain how a monk took his small town, turned it into one of the largest publishing centers of Germany, made his name known by all, and gave birth to the period in time known as the Protestant Reformation. The book itself is divided into twelve chapters, each going into detail about events leading up to, as well as, during the Reformation, and the events that transpired after the death of Martin Luther. Beginning in Part One, A Single Man, the first chapter and second chapters, A Small Town in Germany and Making of a Revolutionary, discusses the origins of the town of Wittenberg, the book trade of Germany prior to Luther s influence, the elector of Saxony, Luther s early life and that would lead to his attack on indulgences, Frederick the Wise s ambition for the town of Wittenberg and the work he put into the town in order to make it both a religious as well as intellectual powerhouse that it would come to be known as. Overall, this chapter serves the purpose of opening to the events that would transpire regarding Luther, Wittenberg, the Catholic Church, and the printing industry of Germany. • 15. Globalization of the Economy Economic globalization has voluminous positive influences on international security as well. The most important effect of economic globalization is that it curbs the authority of state. It also reduces states dependence on military based security and ultimately reduces states monopoly on security. This effect is considered by many, a prime factor contributing towards peace and stability. There are number of factors associated with economic globalization which affects states authority. Firstly, present economic globalization has opened the door of opportunities for most of the countries. Though developed countries are making most profit from this opportunity but developing and even least developing countries are also exploiting the mutual benefit. Due to open competition local productions in less developed and developing countries are achieving better performance and standard. Economic globalization is also creating employment opportunities in those countries. On the other hand states are losing their monopoly on tax collection due to mismatch of economic and political jurisdiction, and internet based trade. Thus, on one hand economy has become priority for states, and on the other hand states losing part of its control on economy. Therefore, economic globalization is exerting its authority on political and state power. Secondly, with economic globalization there is an immense increase of the number of MNCs and their power in influencing politics. These MNCs, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Things They Carried’ by Tim O’Brien Essay The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien provides a insider s view of war and its distractions, both externally in dealing with combat and internally dealing with the reality of war and its effect on each solder. The story, while set in Vietnam, is as relevant today with the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan as it was in the 1960 s and 1970 s in Southeast Asia. With over one million soldiers having completed anywhere from one to three tours in combat in the last 10 years, the real conflict might just be inside the soldier. This paragraph almost drones on losing the reader in a myriad of technical mumbo jumbo and measurements before getting back on target with the story of the soldier s life in the field. The organization of the text can be hard to follow when he goes on about the equipment. On the other hand O Brien takes the role of narrator; clearly he is invested emotionally in the story. However, the drama of the moment can be diluted with too much fact and not enough emotion. Taking each character and peeling back the soldier layers to expose us to the person underneath, he also creates moments that are poignant and riveting. • 18. Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Lysistrata, Calonice... In the ancient world, views of women were often derogatory, yet some viewed women as intelligent and powerful. The Epic of Gilgamesh and Lysistrata both display the complex opinions towards women of the time. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the characters Shamhat and Ishtar provide the audience with a biased view towards women, but this work also provides a more positive opinion of women through Siduri, Utnapishtim s wife, and Aruru. As paralleled in Aristophanes s Lysistrata, Calonice and Peace represent negative perspectives of women, but this play also portrays women positively with Lysistrata and Myrrhine. The ancient texts of The Epic of Gilgamesh and Lysistrata simultaneously depict women as inferior, equal to, and superior to men to represent the complex views of women that were present during ancient times. The Epic of Gilgamesh renders women as subordinate to men through the characters Shamhat and Ishtar. In this epic, Shamhat is a prostitute and must obey men s wishes. As Gilgamesh wants to civilize Enkidu, he tells the hunter, Take with you Shamhat the harlot, when the wild beasts draw near the water hole, let her strip off her clothing , laying bare her charms (103). Although it is a part of Shamhat s job to do what men want, Gilgamesh speaking about controlling her actions suggests that he believes women should always defer to men. • 28. Describe How The Design Of Respiratory System Facilitates... DESCRIBE HOW THE DESIGN OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FACILITATES GAS EXCHANGE? SID: Process of respiration involves supply of oxygen to blood cells (oxygen intake) and excretion of carbon dioxide and other waste (CO2 excretion). Purified blood is carried to all parts of the body by blood vessels in order to achieve gaseous exchange at cell level. This process is carried out through a complex system called Respiratory System. Organs which comprise respiratory system include mouth, nasal passage, glottis, trachea, larynx, pharynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli and last but not the least lungs. In the following lines, we ll discuss in details how the structures of respiratory system accomplish exchange of gases. The upper respiratory tract comprises those organs that bring the air in and lower respiratory tract comprises those parts that process the air. Upper respiratory tract starts from the nose and the mouth. They enable the air to enter through external nares (nostrils). Behind the nostrils there are little shelves of bone called nasal conchae (superior, middle and inferior). They divide the nasal cavity into thin passages called meatuses. (Jahangir, 2015). Surface areas of nasal conchae creates turbulence, forcing the air to get bounced in the nasal cavity and increase the surface area of these cavities, thus allowing the mucus to trap the dirt, bacteria and enable only warm, clean and moist air as it passes down to the lungs. Sickle cell disease occurs in 1 out of every 400 African Americans births (Field, et al 2009). And according to the Centers of Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), 1 out of 13 African American babies are born with the sickle cell trait (SCT). At the same time SCD is present in only 1 out of 300 Caucasian babies, thus it is considered to be one of the most prevalent genetic health disparities affecting people of African, Indian, Hispanic, and Mediterranean decent (Kotch, et al 2000). In order for a person to have this disease, both parents have to carry the Sickle Cell Trait. This trait is given to the parents by their parents in which one of them has the sickle cell gene S and the other has the normal A gene. Children are diagnosed with SCD as early as 4 months old and accurately diagnosed by the age of 6 months old. Normal RBCs are disc shaped in which they are able to easily travel throughout the body, especially through the tiniest blood vessels. However, with sickled shaped RBCs, they clump together while flowing through these particularly small vessels, which causes the loss of oxygen throughout the tissues and organs. It was released in early April by Lucasfilm and Disney. While the actual movie doesn t drop until December 16, the trailers people have seen so far display quite a lot about the theme, attitude and how dark the upcoming film will be. These few pages of rhetorical analysis will mainly focus on how much darker Rogue One will be and how that compares to and changes the previous films and media. Before getting to deep into the analysis of the trailer, it is important for people who are not very familiar with the terminology of Star Wars know the basics of the universe. Rogue One will take place during the third and fourth films. The two main factions are the Rebellion, who are painted as the true heroes of the movies, and the Empire, who are shown to be an evil regime in the galaxy. The Empire has constructed a superweapon called the Death Star, which has the firepower to destroy a planet in one use of its weapon. This weapon is unknown to most of the galaxy, but the Rebellion knows of its existence. It is also important to distinguish that there are many new characters to the franchise in this film. First of which is a woman named Jyn Erso. She is given a brief description in the beginning of the trailer. Mon Mothma describes her as reckless, aggressive, and undisciplined . In addition to this, Jyn is said to have a fairly long criminal record, including assault ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stephen Lucas mentioned in Chapter 13 that the speaker s volume, pitch, rate, pauses, vocal variety, pronunciation, articulation, and dialect are all important in public speaking (Lucas, 243). Loading and unloading cargo required many long and strenuous man hours, and was generally not safe. After World War II, the concept of standardized boxes for shipping was starting to grow, and on April 20, 1956 the SS Maxton shipped 58 truck trailer vans from New York to Houston.
