The Negative Effects Of Television On Television And...
According to the A.C. Nielsen Co. (2009), children spend an average of 28 hours a week hooked
up to the TV. That number adds up to 1,456 hours of television a year, which means that children
spend an average of 2 months out of the year watching nonstop TV! Though these figures are
shocking, even more shocking is the scientific evidence that confirms the detrimental effect
watching the televisionis having on today s children. Watching television for long periods of time
has been directly linked to childhood obesity. A study done by the National Center for Education
Statistics shows that children in kindergarten and first grade who watched more than one hour of
television per day, children viewing as little as one hour of TV daily were 58 percent to 73
percent more likely to be obese than children who watched less than one hour. (DeBoer, 2015)
This is due in part to children s tendency to eat on unhealthy, high calorie foods while they watch
TV. An article by HealthDay News found that children in homes where parents watch regular TV
with commercials had higher levels of junk food consumption and were more likely to have
distorted views about healthy eating than children in homes where parents watched commercial
free digitally recorded TV or other types of media without food advertising. (Preidt, 2013) Also
contributing to this is the fact that children do not exercise while they watch TV, and watching
television often takes the place of outside activities. Another

This Republic Of Suffering Summary
In This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War, Drew Gilpin Faust tells the story
of the Civil War while revealing the way the thousands of deaths changed the United States as a
whole. She presents this testimony of history by telling the eight main ways the Civil War changed
the nation while including countless forms of evidence. This paper will review Fausts historical
narrative, the book s evidence, as well as evaluating the quality of Faust s writing throughout the
book. The purpose of Drew Gilpin Faust writing this book remains incredibly clear as wanting to
show the different ways the Civil War directly affected the United States people and government.
This purpose presented by Faust is made obvious by the intelligent arguments and countless pieces
of evidence to support the claims brought to the reader s attention. All of these arguments... Show

Each chapter is divided up into one argument. These chapters include key pieces of information for
the reader to get a better understanding about the war and the affect it had on the nation. Through
evidence and accounts from people in the war, Faust shows how and why the country changed on
both the government and the citizen front. For the government, the war showed them the flaws in
their soldier responsibilities. Because of the war the government changed many different policies to
deal with death, created national cemeteries, implemented better identification and numbering
systems, as well as worked out different programs to take care of the soldier s families. For citizens
the war changed their ways of mourning, thinking of the afterlife, their views on religion, their
process of burial, as well as their amount of respect each person held for the soldiers in the war.
The author makes clear that without the war many of the tactics and ideals the country has in place
today would not be the same without the Civil

Radiation Therapy
In radiation therapy, certain treatment plans require a water equivalent material called a bolus to
raise the maximum dose buildup (Dmax) closer to the surface of the skin. One of the most
common materials used to create this more superficial treatment dose is a commercial product
called Superflab. Superflab is a manufactured vinyl gel material that is uniform in thickness, easy to
cut, and reusable (Radiation Products Inc, 2010). Therapists use other materials in clinical settings,
but there is currently very little research available comparing alternative bolus materials and their
respective Dmax values. The limited amount of research that is available look at different materials

They conducted an experiment that tested dose uniformity of an entire CTV with a mixture of
petroleum jelly, wax, and glass beads and the use of Superflab as a bolus. They used both a

boluses to a canine cadaver to create a uniform shape for treatment. They shaped the jelly mixture
around both sides of the cadaver leg and then covered that with Superflab. Results showed that the
combination of the mixed material bolus and Superflab created an acceptable uniform surface dose
over the entire CTV. The researchers concluded that this mixture is useful for uneven surfaces,
areas with a concern about air gaps with Superflab alone, and is a viable option for tissue

GPA Examination
GPA EXEMPTION ESSAY I grew up in the 90 s, the golden age of video games. My perspective of
life was similar to a video; one must continue to play the game to go to the next level. If one gives
up, they will never progress. There are many different levels to life. In college, I passed a number
of levels. However, I continued to repeat the same course. That is why my grade point average
was low. One day, I was sitting in the back of class and unknowingly drifted to sleep. I heard a
gentle voice whisper, My dear what is your purpose? As my eyes opened, I felt embarrassed. I
awoken to an empty class and Professor Meadows stood over me. I was too drowsy to respond. So

Elective Caesarean Hypotension
Caesarean delivery is the method by which a baby is born through an incision in the abdominal
wall and uterus. Statistics show that 166,081 caesarean deliveries were carried out within NHS
hospitals in England during 2013/2014, of which 50% were elective. This represents a 2.5% rise
over the previous year, continuing the trend of increasing elective caesarean rates (Health Social
Care Information Centre, 2015). Indications for a caesarean section(CS) can include foetal distress,
previous CS, breech presentation, abnormal progress during labour, etc. (Vacca, 2013).

The practitioner ensured that the patient was dry and was covered to maintain dignity and
privacy. The anaesthetist accompanied the practitioner to the PACU to observe and establish
that the patient was physiologically stable during transfer. On arrival to PACU the scrub staff
and anaesthetist took part in the PACU handover. It is imperative that a formal handover of the
patient care is given with all relevant details about anaesthesia and surgery verbally
communicated, in order to aid the continuity of care and minimise the risk of omissions
(Hamlington, 2012). One study (Kluger and Bullock, 2002) observed that 14% of adverse
recovery events was contributed by inadequate handover procedure. The patient was observed on
a one to one basis by the recovery ODP whilst observations and monitoring was recorded.
Recordings of respiratory rate, heart rate, NIBP and pulse oximetry were made at 5 minute
intervals as laid out in AAGBI s guideline for postoperative recovery (Association of Anaesthetists
of Great Britain and Ireland, 2013). Sedation and mobility recordings were also needed due to the

Evolution Of Modern Technology
The 1990 s was the beginnings of modern technology as we know it today. When the Internet
first came out it began as a new trend, and many people thought it wouldn t last. Over the past 27
years technology has evolved in ways no one would have predicted in its early stages. From
cellphones, to computers, TVs, and the Internet itself has so vastly improved in such a small
amount of time. Technologyhas changed the way we live daily. From education, interacting with
friends and family, dating, music, our health, shopping, entertainment, and become famous our
society as a whole has evolved to become entirely dependent on technology. Before schools had
students carry heavy textbooks and notebooks. But now in this day and age we carry tablets
around storing the information for schools. It has gotten to the point that schools across the
country either give out electronics or the students are required to buy them for school. On a
related topic paper books are going out of style. Everyone now reads with an tablet. It s good for
the environment saving thousands of trees. Interacting with family and friends is a lot different
than it is now. Before you would write a letter, speak on the phone, or just talk in person. Now
we just post to our social media about news in our lives, then we can check to see if they liked,
shared, or reposted your information. With the help of social media dating has turned into the
digital age. I m sure all our parents met in real life first through a friend or just flirting with a
complete stranger. Now apps and websites are the way to go meet someone. In the 90 s and
very early 2000 s music was still played on CDs and Walkmans. Digital music was not a thing
like it is today. Music stores are non existent. You would have to burn CDs to upload your
favorite music. Now with our smartphones we can download any type of music, we can create
playlists, and create our own music collection with one app. Our health has gotten better and
worse as technology has advanced. With technology advances in science getting more advanced.
We are helping more people and saving more lives. But we are sleeping a lot less, social media

The Epidemiology, Treatment And Rehabilitation Of An...
The Epidemiology, Treatment and Rehabilitation of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture
Introduction The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is the most commonly injured ligament in the
body (Spindler, 2008). Griffin (2005) estimated that around 80 000 to more than 250 000 ACL
injuries occur each year. An anterior cruciate ligamentrupture (ACLR) can be a devastating injury
to an athlete, as they encounter the possibility of reconstructive surgery alongside extensive months
of rehabilitation. Also many athletes are unable to return to their former level of athletic
performance within the first postoperative year, with many athletes unable to return to play at all
(Panariello, 2015).
Epidemiology An ACLR can be caused by many mechanisms with 70% being reported with a
noncontact nature and 30% reported with the involvement of contact from an outside force such as
an opposing player. Of the non contact mechanisms, common movements involved in an ACLR
include cutting movements, landing from a jump with inadequate hip and knee flexion close to full
extension (Silvers Mandelbaum, 2011). Female athletes are at a greater risk of ACL injuries when
compared to their male counter parts, with a two to tenfold higher incidence rate (Silvers,
Mandelbaum, 2011). Females are predisposed to ACL injuries due to intrinsic factors. Compared
to males, females have a smaller ACL cross sectional area as well increased quadriceps angle
(Sutton, Bullock Montgomery, 2013). However, although

Analysis Of Love In The Time Of Cholera
Love in the Time of Cholera is a skilfully crafted novel in which Gabriel Garcia Marquez takes the
reader on the labyrinthine love journey of the two characters, Fermina Daza and Florentino Ariza.
The novel, which is told by a non judgemental omniscient narrator, reveals love in a multi faceted
manner that may seem conventional on the surface, yet, the portrayal of lovehas been adeptly
designed to incorporate the novels historical context. The story takes place between the late
nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, in a Caribbean seaport city in Colombia. The
context of both time and place intertwines social traditions, economic hierarchies and political
ideologies that collectively play a role in the characters development. The development of Fermina
and Florentino s characters reveals differentiated worldviews on gender issues; these perceptions
are displayed through their exhibition of love to each other and minor characters. In Love in the
Time of Cholera, Marquez blatantly tells the novel in a non prejudicial way which focuses on the
revolutionising dominant patriarchal ideologies and attitudes. Hence, a feminist lens will be used
to explore the explicit and implicit characterisation of Fermina and Florentino.
Marquez explicitly describes Florentino Ariza through his unattractive appearance and social class,
highlighting that despite the Florentino s aesthetics and legacy, his love for the socially superior
Fermina is eternally irreducible. The

Narrative Analysis Of A Crush On Chaos
Plot development for my narrative: A Crush on Chaos? Ew No!
Exposition: My nana dropped me and brother off a little ways from our school so that we weren t
sitting in traffic. I went to Coffee Bean with some friends and my brother went who knows where!
When we were walking to Walker Junior High School, I saw my brother about to cross the street to
go to Kennedy High School. I told my friends that I would be right back. They left and I yelled
out to my brother. That is the part in my narrative that represents the exposition. The setting is the
Kennedy, Walker, and Coffee Bean area. The characters, well, the main characters, are shown as
being me, Bella Palmer, as well as my brother, Lucky Palmer.
Rising Action: Lucky! Hey! What are you doing? I said being as curious as ever.
Lucky did a half jog like thing and made his way over to me. He put me in a headlock and told
me he was going to come with me to Walker. When we got in, he said that he wanted to see Mrs.
Green. We went to her classroom and she was happy to see him.
Hi Lucky! How is High School?
Hi Mrs. Green. It is good. How is my sister in class? A lot better than me huh?
She is very good in class. Hm She may be my favorite Palmer! she said with a smirk.
See Lucky? I m a lot better than you! I said giggling.
We said bye to Mrs. Green and Lucky started to head back to his school. I used to always talk
about Lucky to my first period teacher, Mr. Kyle, and he wanted to meet the ever so famous
Lucky . So I took the opportunity and knew that he wouldn t willingly go meet him. So, I took
his backpack and darted toward Mr. Kyle s old classroom. I looked through the window but he
wasn t there. When my brother caught up to me, I surrendered and gave his back pack back.
My brother started to go to Kennedy again so I decided that it was my turn to go to his school. As
we were walking, I was thinking of ways to embarrass him without completely humiliating myself.
Hm should I just be quiet but follow him around? No because then it wouldn t be really
embarrassing. Maybe I should hold onto his arm with one hand, point to him with the other, while
yelling out that I know him and that he is my brother. Maybe not, we would just get dirty looks.

Physical Aspects Of Atrium
Atrium was considered as a sun room back in the old times. These days sun rooms appears in
many homes where people want to soak up sun rays in the middle of winter or maybe grow plants
year round. An atrium is an open roofed part of a building, though now it more commonly has a
glass roof. Although the atriumhas evolved throughout the centuries, the basic design has remained
the same. The word atrium comes from the Latin and refers to an open central court. An atrium in
architecture is a central part of buildings.
In community spaces, the special is the environmental behavior, in which the study focuses on the
atmospheric effect of public spaces or on their interior elements, such as lighting, music, and scent.
To identify the relationship between the public environment and the sense of place, this study aims
to determine the atrium patterns setting factors that provide a sense of place to the community. The
important physical aspects of atrium pattern design include architectural and functional esthetics.
Architectural aesthetics include many types of architectural elements like shapes, colors, scale,
materials, textures, and other accessories used to define or decorate the space. Layout, signage, and
comfort level are functional aspects that should also be considered.

The Negative Effects Of Animals In Zoos
Negative Effects of Animals in Zoos Zoos, often described as establishments with indoor and
outdoor settings where live animals are kept, play a vital role in conserving wild species. Zoo
establishments serve the purpose of educating zoo visitors about animals and for providing those
animals with proper care, but they are typically used for public exhibition. Most people see zoos
as places to take their children to learn more about animals, and as a form of entertainment by
allowing people to walk around and look at animals in cages. Others see zoos as places that confine
animals from their natural habitat, and as places that interfere with the natural order of the animals.
There are many factors that contribute to the negative effects of animals being in zoos, most being
the zoos management, faculty, and the visitors.
How zoo faculties are managed is one of the many ways that animals in zoos can be affected
negatively. According to Smit, [t]he obvious managerial goal with such facilities is to achieve a level
of integration of facilities and services, but a level of integration which is driven by the needs of
animals in any given zoological facility (Smit). Smit believes that facilities and services should be
combined in a way that has a favorable effect towards the animals. An example of this would be
when animal cages are built to accommodate their inhabitants (Smit). Animal cages must be
structured well enough for the safety of the animals and in a way that the

Analysis Of Robert Hayden s Those Winter Sundays
Showing love and gratitude goes a long way in strengthening relationships and makes us better
understands the sacrifices others make on our behalf. In those winter Sundays, Robert Hayden
stated a lot with very few words. This was possible due to brilliant use of imagery, metaphor and
sound. His striking words invoke thoughts in the mindof the reader of this dedicated father, up
alone exposed to the harsh elements who works hard each day to make his familycomfortable,
however they don t value his acts of good will, nor did they give him any credit. In many cases,
we glance back at one point in our lives with lament. We feel that had it been, what we currently

Great use of imagery throughout the poem really emphasized Hayden s message. Hayden
recollects the memory of this specific Sunday morning. Using the word too suggests that the
father rises early consistently, regardless of what day it is. He dresses in the severe cold. His hands
have cracks because of the cold weather and the grueling work that he does each day.
When his dad turns on the chimneys and stoves, to make the house warm for his loved ones. His
striking words make me invoke thoughts in my mind of this persevering dad up alone wide
open to the harsh elements. When he noted his dads, hands were cracked, and that they ached it
was a great use of imagery. This was used to portray how hard working he was, as well as a symbol
for all the agony and inconvenience he was willing to bear for his family.
Hayden depicted sounds and in addition pictures in the same elucidating way when he wrote I
awoke and heard the cold splintering, breaking. Possibly, what Hayden heard was cracking
noises that came from the fire or ice softening off the windows. In any case, this decision of
imagery is utilized to show the devotion of his dad. He was willing to go out in the cold to break
the ice of the windows for those he cared about. Furthermore, Hayden s inclusion of the word
blueback cold, was to stress that the sun has not started to

Islamic Law And Islamic Banking
Forty years ago, the Islamic banking industry was created, on a modest scale, to fill a gap in a
banking system that was not listening to the fervent Muslim believers. Morocco has been
following the same development in offering Islamic finance services to its citizens through
Islamic windows in conventional banks. In parallel to this development of the Islamic financial
industry in Morocco, it seems very crucial to evaluate critically based on Maliki law school the
previous experience of Islamic windows in conventional banks. Taking into considerations, the
differences between schools in the interpretation and implementation of Islamic law in economy
life, the objective of this paper was to critically analysis the practice of Islamic banks in Morocco.
This paper aimed at analyzing the characteristics of different schools of Islamic law and how this
would affect Islamic banking. The final aim of this paper was to highlight the importance of
jurisprudence/ new interpretations in developing Islamic banking. Qualitative methodology based
on semi directive interviewees was the main approach for this paper. Three levels of gaps have
been found out. These gaps are related respectively to Murabaha, Musharaka and Ijara. Three
recommendations have been advised to fill the gaps: Absolute isolation of Fund, Sharia auditing
committee And Compliance with AAOIFI Standards

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan Challenger Disaster
Ronald Reagan Challenger Disaster Address to the Nation After the seven astronauts, engineers,
and Christa McAuliffe, a history teacher selected to be part of the mission, were killed in the

The Issues Of Immigration And The Efforts Schools
The issues of immigration and the efforts schools are supposed to provide for the country are
looked upon differently in respect to who you are to ask. At the federal level, the government
states that every child is allowed to obtain an education. On the other hand, the local state
government feels that they are able to vote on issues of denying education for all immigrant
children. Throughout this essay, I will look at several schools and districts in the San Diego county

The city of Escondido has a history of controversy with policies that deal with the immigration
debate. In 1994, the state of California proposed a proposition that would deny social services
(education, health/welfare benefits) to illegal residents and would require state/local agencies to
report persons suspected of being illegal to the US Attorney General and the Immigration and
Naturalization Service (Proposition 187: Will it Save or Sink California?). Escondido Unified

The Creation Of The Church
The landscape of the church has changed greatly since the early days of the 1st century. The
small groups, seen in the Book of Acts, have been replaced by large centralized denominations
and religious institutions, and in the process, the idea that the Body of Christ is a family has been
relegated into large groups of strangers. The early church was a family unit that extended far
beyond the ideals and principles experienced in the church today (Sprinkle, 2015). The 1st century
church exemplified fellowship, commitment, and service to others and was held together by an
unconditional bond made possible by Jesus Christ (Sprinkle, 2015). The church in Acts was also
devoid of hierarchy and actual buildings, except for synagogues. Christians, in the 1st century, were
neither militaristic nor voracious for power; instead, they looked to the cross and overcame evil
through suffering and love, rather than weaponry (Sprinkle, 2015). Early Christians took the church
to the people as Christ intended, as such; it was not uncommon for many to gather in the homes of

Raising the Dropout Age Essay
Children are told from a young age that it is mandatory for them to graduate from high school, but
it s not until they are on the verge of dropping out that they hear the importance for staying in
school. It is also when they hear how high school students who dropouts learn the incredible price
to pay in the future when they give up on an education. Thinking with a teenage state of mind and
trying to take the easy way out they go straight for a GED, which is told to be an equivalent
earning of a diploma. Stated in a complete listing of educational resources most teachers tend to
argue that The General Educational Development lacks the depth and breadth found in a traditional

A person who does not have a high school diploma is at higher risk of being unemployed being a
single parent, being in a gang, or being in prison; therefore, the mandatory age for leaving high
school should be raised.
Dropping out of school does not seem to happen overnight; it comes after a long term process of
frustration and failure (Balfanz par 2). According to the National Center for Education Statistics,
The population studied students attending Baltimore schools and gathered research that indicates
how low test scores and report card grades as early as the 1st grade are reliable sources of whether
students would later drop out(Alexander, Entwisle and Kabbani par.6). Also having to go through
grade retention as early as kindergarten is also connected to why the dropout rate has reached a
dynamic level (Kaufman and Bradby par.6). Whoever decides to drops out has no type of support,
encouragement, or ambition starting at such a young age.
Someone who decides to dropout without a high school diploma face a higher risk of being
unemployed. When there is a lack of education, it will become difficult to receive a job and more
likely to become on welfare. The earnings potential on average for dropouts is to be unemployed
and earn less money when they eventually secure work rather than a high school graduate. In the
Kerner report, Dorothy Bullitt stated that employed dropouts working at unskilled jobs will belong
in a low paying service occupation offering

America s Dropping of the Atomic Bomb Essay
America s Dropping of the Atomic Bomb The bomb was dropped for a number of reasons. I
believe that revenge for Pearl harbour coinciding with pressure put on by President Truman to drop
the bomb was significant. However many other factors were involved. These included political,
military, economic, scientific factors along with Truman wanted to gain retribution for Pearl
harbour. These factors along with others gave a number reasons for Truman to drop the bomb.
President Roosevelt was the main man behind the bomb from 1941. At the Yalta conference in
1945, the big three met to discuss matters for Germany. Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt were the

It will be impossible to persuade Russia to remove their troops from Poland unless she is
impressed by American military might. Now, our demonstrating the bomb will make Russia
more manageable. This shows signs that Russia may also be a key factor as the Russian dash
for China may have caused a concern to America and by the dropping the bomb it would sway
Russia to stop as Truman said, I ll hammer on those boys . Truman now knew that he had a
weapon to dominate the post war world and may have used it to show some power on the
American hip as Stalin appeared to be trying to go and invade Asia so Truman used the bomb as
a message to him not to go further. Most people who believed that America decided to drop the
atomic bombs on Japan for military reasons. These reasons were that a quick end to the war
meant that no land invasion of Japan would have to take place, which would eliminate costs and
most crucially soldier s lives. I however, believe that Truman had different reasons for bombing
Japan. One of the reasons is that America would take revenge on the Japanese for the bombing of
Pearl Harbour and the treatment of American war prisoners. Also I believe that certain members of
his party were pressuring Truman, as he felt that he had to justify the expense of the Manhattan
Project. Also this bomb would create shockwaves around world as America would have been seen

Marketing in the Banking Industry
Marketing in the Banking industry
Introduction:
In many ways, the banking industry has functioned more as a private industry offering something
of a public utility. Through this unique role, the industry has dramatically expanded its service and
product offerings over the last several decades. However, even as the industry has evolved, its
marketing strategies have remained somewhat static. The assumption for many in the banking
industry not unlike a public utility is that their services are needed by the public. This, in and of
itself, is a view that has dissuaded many from achieving the type of marketing presence from which
they might otherwise benefit. However, this approach is shifting significantly today as banks
struggle to compete with one another and with their own negative reputations. As the discussion
here will show, more effective marketing is the key to driving new success in an industry in need
of a recovery.
Problem Statement:
Over the last decade, a string of corporate collapses has contributed to a decided downslide in the
reputation of the global banking industry. Scandal, embezzlement and dishonesty marked the
downfall of a number of prominent investment banking firms, helping to compound a sense for
many in the public that bank s are driven by greed and are not to be trusted. This denotes a clear
problem for the banking industry on the whole, which relies on the public s trust and loyalty to
court and maintain customers. Therefore, a great

Sharing Is Not Always Caring
As a teenager, receiving one s very first cell phone is the first step in establishing popularity.
Tweeting, texting, Instagram ing and publishing life s fails and funnies are the teen social norm

personal information not meant for the whole world can cause problems in the lives of those

We accomplished this by using different pricing strategies. One of our pricing strategies is the cost
based pricing. This is the most used pricing strategy. Cost based pricing is when you take the
cost of product plus the cost of doing business plus our projected profit margin. This allows us to
get the regular price of the tickets. Our next pricing strategy is the demand based pricing. This is
where the ticket sellers determine what customers are willing to pay and set the price
accordingly. This pricing strategy results in a great ticket for an affordable price. Therefore,
more people will want to buy the tickets. Our final pricing strategy is the competition based
pricing. This is where we determine if we want the price above, below, or in line with the
competition. This allows the ticket prices to vary depending on the competition in the market
place. Overall, all of these pricing strategies help revamp the ticket sales for our team and bring in
more profit. We also derived the different ticket prices by analyzing the different field location and
where the best views of the game are. Our stadium provided many magnificent areas for our fans
and customers to join together and watch an amazing baseball game. The seats which are closer to
the field cost more than the ones which are located on our sky levels. This type of pricing would
be considered prestige pricing, because this is using higher than average price to suggest
exclusiveness, status, and prestige. Our pricing policy is the one price policy for different seat
sections. We also used price lining because we out the seats into different categories. We also
produced many different affordable options for our customers to choose from, such as the option
to choose to sit in general admission for an awesome low price of only $11.00. We also used
different pricing techniques. An example of this would be the discount pricing. Discounting pricing

Descriptive Essay On My House
A bang on my door interrupts my quiet slumber and jolts my body into a sitting position. I rub
my blurry eyes and swing my legs over the side of my bed, trying to move forwards. My foot gets
caught in the fluffy blanket and I tumble to the ground. Gahh! My head hits my side table when I
bolt into a sittingposition. My hand reaches up and rubs my head whilst my other hand balances
my glasses on the bridge of my nose. Come downstairs and get dinner! My cousin s rough,
irritable voice comes through my door. I ll be down in a minute. My voice comes out quiet and
hoarse, making it sound like I need a large glass of water. I open my closet doors and scan over
the contents before picking out a pair of boots, a white, chunky sweater, a black scarf, and some
thick jeans. With a click, my door unlocks and swings open to reveal the bathroom door in front
of me. The cold hardwood floor makes my feet tingle whilst I cross into the even colder bathroom.
Although the room is cold, I feel warm inside with excitement while I change into my clothing and
flash an indeterminate smile at the mirror. A second click sounds when I open the door and head
to the large kitchen. I almost make it without any accidents only to break the streak by tripping on
air and face planting into the maroon colored wood. Mara, one of my two bratty kin, remarks, Can
you not go 5 minutes without hurting yourself? Her statement is met with a half hearted laugh and

Power of buyers : low but increasing
Buyers can be categorized as follows: banks, retailers, restaurants, and leisure facilities
Shopping centre industry is in oligoploly. Most of the buyers such as retailers (tenants) are
individually small and have no strong bargaining power over shopping centre owners.
There are a large number of retailers and service providers in the market. As demand for space is
high, shopping centres attract them to join in and pay more rent for the higher consumer traffic.
However, the power of buyers has been increasing as retailers can now choose locations outside of
S/Cs to save high rents, or open their own online shops. This will in turn exert pressure on S/C to
reduce lease terms and cost
Available margins will shift back to manufacturers (brands) which used to go to retailors
Threat of new entrants: low to medium
High entry barrier: shopping centers are purpose built complexes which require large capital

King Arthur was an ideal person to many people during the medieval time period. He was brave,
fair, fearless, supernatural, and honorable. These characteristics made King Arthur a legendary
person. Many stories of the King Arthur legend exist today. These stories have many similarities
and differences such as in Morte d Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. In both stories, the
author s use the code of chivalry and fantasy, but one author decides to let King Arthurdie and the
other does not. In the stories Morte d Arthur and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the use of the

In Morte d Arthur, fantasy is used when a hand comes out of the water after Lancelot throws the
sword into the water. This is a fantasy because hands do not miraculously appear from the water.
Another fantasy is used in the story at the end when it says that King Arthur may or may not be
dead. This is a fantasy because King Arthur s son killed him when he hit Arthur in the head,
meaning that King Arthur is obviously dead. While in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight fantasy
is used because a person cannot be green, people are different shades of brown. Also, another
fantasy used in the story is when the Green Knight has his head blown off, but he still survives.
This is a fantasy because he should have died after Sir Gawain blew his head off.
However, there is a difference in the stories because, in Morte d Arthur, King Arthur dies. King
Arthur dies because his son and he are enemies. His son is after the power that he deserves as the
son of a king. So, he decides to kill King Arthur to have power, but he also dies along with Arthur.
While in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight King Arthur does not die. He does not die because Sir
Gawain is the one to accept the Green Knight s challenge of cutting each other s neck

Why The Raid At Cabanatuan
The raid at Cabanatuan was the product of a failed campaign to protect the Philippines from
Japanese control in 1941 42, which resulted in the capture of over 550 American and allied
POWs. The capture of the Philippines was essential to Japan, who would be able to use it as a
resupply point, as well as eliminating the natural barrier that existed between them and China. The
raid was organized three years later in an effort to release the POWS and further the mission of the
Allies reclaiming the Philippines from Japanese control. On December 7th 1941, Japanese air

The Distributive Justice Theory Of John Rawls
Inequality and inefficiency are universal issues plaguing society that countless economists have
attempted to understand and address. Distinguished economists such as John Rawls, Amartya Sen,
Robert Nozick, and Milton Friedman have developed their own theories of to achieve distributive
justice, or a fair allocation of resources for all members of society. In Rawls justice as fairness and
Sen s capability theory, the economists come closest to achieving plans of distributive justice that
retain the output promoting effects of compensating differentials and recognizing the costs of Okun
s leaky bucket, but a plan that retains Rawls social contract and Sen s capability focus would come
closest to achieving justice. The distributive justice theory of John Rawlsconcerns justice as
fairness. In his theory, Rawls defines justice as demanding equality, unless inequality makes the
least advantaged person better off. Rawls proposes two major principles of justice: (1) that each
person should have the same equal right to basic liberties and (2) that social and economic
inequalities are attached to positions and offices open to all under equality of opportunity and are
to the benefit of the least advantaged group of society. This theory is determined by a social
contract that assumes there is a natural state on which people will agree based on moral equality. In
this social contract, all members wear a veil of ignorance through which they do not know anything

Middle Range Theory Essay
1.Discuss middle range theory. Middle range theory is conceptual framework connecting raw
archaeological data with higher level generalizations and conclusions about the past which can
be derived from such evidence. A theory concerned with explaining specific issues or aspects of
society instead of trying to explain how all of society operates.() Middle range theory was first
established in sociolofy in the late 1940 s by R.K. Merton as a way of dealing with issues
present in the new sociological emphasis on abstraction. There was an high interest among
sociologist of the time for a unified sociological theory that over time became too broad for
accurate testing which made it untestable. Since these high level abstract theories caused such a
stir, Merton argued that middle ranged theories could be developed to test subjects of this caliber.
As a result, middle range theory was developed to guide the empirical investigation of higher
order theories. The goal of this new level of theorizing was to generate the theories that were
sufficiently abstract to allow behavioral generalization, and yet were satisfactorily grounded in
reality, so that they could be empirically verified().In archaeology, the concept of middle range

not the case in the 20 s. If your bank closed, and many of them did, you lost all the money you
had saved. No one could help you and many families ended up on the street due to this loss.
Bread lines were now crowded as people tried any way they could to feed themselves and their
children. Suicide was now at a high as well. Many businessmen or farmers and really anyone else
who had lost their job or business due to the times often committed suicide as the easy way out.
The way out of the Depression was a long road ahead.
FDR, in my opinion, is mainly the reason that the Great Depression ended. FDR would hold
fireside chats everyday on the radio. This was very consoling for a country who thought they
were headed nowhere. It was nice to hear a man of power tell you that everything was going to be
okay. He gained even more great respect after announcing the New Deal.
The first New Deal was aimed towards business recovery. He insisted that the banking industry
now be regulated and developed F.D.I.C. that would insure your deposits up to $5,000. This is the
same system that we use today.

Negative Effects Of Wild Animals
Not only do zoos cause physical damage to animals, but also, they cause mental and emotional
issues in wild animals. After all animals do display signs of consciousness, so they do have
feelings about being locked up in displays and cages around the clock. Recently, a group of
animal researchers signed a declaration proclaiming that animals are self aware. Alex Halberstadt s
article called ZooAnimals and Their Discontent stated, The Cambridge Declaration on
Consciousness in Humanand Nonhuman Animals was signed by a group of leading animal
researchers in the presences of Stephen Hawking. It asserted that mammals, birds, and other
creatures like octopuses possess consciousness, and in all likelihood, emotions and self awareness.
Several animals remember and feel emotion, so leaving them in a box all day seems slightly
torturous. Humans should have empathy for the contained animals. It turns out common shore
crabs feel and remember pain, zebra flinches experience REM sleep, fruit fly brothers cooperate,
dolphins and elephants recognize themselves in mirrors, chimpanzees assist one another without
expecting favors in return, and dogs really do feel elation in their owner s presence (Halberstadt).
These feelings sometimes have some dangerous effects, as animals can and do act out against their
aggressors.
When wild animals kept in captivity act out against captivity, they develop unusual symptoms
known to experts as zoochosis in some cases. The article Zoos on

A Society Fighting for Social Change Essay
The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win (Marx). While
living in London as an adult Karl Marx realized that he was living in a very rich country but only
small portion of the people were benefiting from the riches of the country and the larger portion
was suffering from poverty. The people that were enjoying the riches of the country he referred to
as capitalists, these people seek profit from the factories and businesses that the owned. Then there
were the people he considered as proletarians, these people sold their labor for wages to the
capitalist. Marx started to think of the idea of social conflict; Investopedia defines the conflict
theory as a state of perpetual conflict due to competition... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marx broke down alienation into four different categories, Alienation from the act of working,
Alienation from the products of work, Alienation from the workers and Alienation from human
potential. Marx believed that the only way things could start to change was if the proletarians
started to demonstrate conflict. Proletarians needed to say what it was that they needed and
wanted so that their capitalist could have been aware of what they were interested in, what they
wanted and needed in order for them to survive and what they needed in the organization while
working for them to be comfortable, this was the only way that changes would have be able to
come about. It was not guarantee that with each and every conflict change would have occurred.
Also, not at the first sight of conflict there would have been change. The proletarians needed to
be ready to have kept the conflicts reoccurring and consistent in order for changes to come about
because the capitalist would not create change at the first sight of conflict because they believed
that the way things were going at that time were the best possible options available and they were
no need for change. The capitalist were okay with having the proletarians on very low wages in
order for them to get the most profits out of the products and services that they were offering. The

Racism In Racism
Racism has always been a problem with this country, but lately people are starting to express
themselves and their ethnicity. Football is a big deal to this country because it is our sport. NFL
players are speaking out, well actually they are standing out to show America that they are not okay
with how they are being treated. When a national figure such as an NFL player refuses to stand for
the national anthem, it shocks people into paying attention and generates conversation. Three
reasons why athletes should kneel down for the national anthem are they should protestto show their
concerns, it s not an official rule, and NFL players should have a right of freedom.
First, athletes should protest their concerns. For example, Kaepernick kneeling was to bring
attention to police brutality against African Americans. According to Autumn Allison, the author of
Why do NFL players protest during national anthem? A timeline: From Kaepernick to Trump there
have been significant words used disrespectfully. Trump made an extremely decisive statement
about the players who kneel, calling them an unnecessary word and that they should get fired. In
addition, Trump said that kneeling has nothing to do with race, but it actually does from the
injustice in the country. Many players protest because they are not being treated fairly, so they re
expressing their feelings.
Secondly It s not an official rule for NFL players to stand during the national anthem. For example
The Seattle Seahawks said as a team Out of love for our country and in honor of the sacrifices
made on our behalf, we unite to oppose those that would deny our most basic freedoms.
According to Anthem kneeling isn t aimed at veterans, and other NFL protest misconceptions by
Josh Hafner, it is stated that kneeling down is not just respect for the country but Colin
Kaepernick said I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses
black people and people of color. In addition, Smith and Carlos (two NFL players) raised their fists
in the air to protest against social injustice, racism, and discrimination during a time of high tension
in the United States. Smith and Carlos raised their fists mostly because they were protesting

Democracy Is The Worst Form Of Individual Ignorance
Democracy is the worst form of government except of all the other ones that have been tried
Winston Churchill
Democracy, the availability of the citizens to vote and elect who represents them in a political
setting, set upon non hostile competition and fairly represents the views of the people was
described by Abraham Lincoln as ...the government of the people, by the people, for the people.
President Barack Obama stated on February 9, 2009, The strongest democracies flourish from
frequent and lively debate, but they endure when people of every background and belief find a
way to set aside smaller differences in service of a greater purpose. The average American college
student, like myself, believe these quote to be true. American Author, H.L. Mencken disagreed,
stating that Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.
Churchill was not saying that democracy is bad, he is explaining that while it is imperfect, it is far
less so than the are other governmental models seen throughout the world like dictatorships in
Russia, autocracy Libya, and monarchies like Morocco. Democracy is far from perfect, but is a
much more effective form of government than its modern day competitors such as dictatorships,
autocracies, and true monarchies, which are ineffective due to............(couple word summary of

Human Trafficking And The United States
Around the world there are a reported 800,000 people trafficked each year. Out of that 800,000
around 15,000 are trafficked in the United States. Half of those are children. Not all cases are
reported, and there are few victims rescued in comparison to the millions that are still helpless each
and every year. Human traffickingis an epidemic all across the world and many countries are doing
all they can to stop it. But what about the United States; what are we doing to stop it and is what
we re doing enough?
What is human trafficking? It is defined by the United Nations as the recruitment, transportation,
transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons by improper means (such as force, abduction, fraud, or
coercion) for an improper purpose including forced labor or sexual exploitation. To put it simply, it
is moving someone illegally with the purpose of forced labour, sexual exploitation, or something
similar.
As I looked at facts and myths of human trafficking I realized there are some things I thought I
knew about this subject that were completely wrong. Though many think that the only form of
trafficking is sex trafficking, there are two forms. Sex trafficking is the most prevalent and forced
labour comes in at a close second. There are other reasons that the victims are kidnapped, one of
them being to sell their organs on the black market. This of course is not as common as the other
two reasons but it does still happen. Another myth is that trafficking has to include

  • 2. The Negative Effects Of Television On Television And... According to the A.C. Nielsen Co. (2009), children spend an average of 28 hours a week hooked up to the TV. That number adds up to 1,456 hours of television a year, which means that children spend an average of 2 months out of the year watching nonstop TV! Though these figures are shocking, even more shocking is the scientific evidence that confirms the detrimental effect watching the televisionis having on today s children. Watching television for long periods of time has been directly linked to childhood obesity. A study done by the National Center for Education Statistics shows that children in kindergarten and first grade who watched more than one hour of television per day, children viewing as little as one hour of TV daily were 58 percent to 73 percent more likely to be obese than children who watched less than one hour. (DeBoer, 2015) This is due in part to children s tendency to eat on unhealthy, high calorie foods while they watch TV. An article by HealthDay News found that children in homes where parents watch regular TV with commercials had higher levels of junk food consumption and were more likely to have distorted views about healthy eating than children in homes where parents watched commercial free digitally recorded TV or other types of media without food advertising. (Preidt, 2013) Also contributing to this is the fact that children do not exercise while they watch TV, and watching television often takes the place of outside activities. Another ... This Republic Of Suffering Summary In This Republic of Suffering: Death and the American Civil War, Drew Gilpin Faust tells the story of the Civil War while revealing the way the thousands of deaths changed the United States as a whole. She presents this testimony of history by telling the eight main ways the Civil War changed the nation while including countless forms of evidence. This paper will review Fausts historical narrative, the book s evidence, as well as evaluating the quality of Faust s writing throughout the book. The purpose of Drew Gilpin Faust writing this book remains incredibly clear as wanting to show the different ways the Civil War directly affected the United States people and government. For the government, the war showed them the flaws in their soldier responsibilities. Because of the war the government changed many different policies to deal with death, created national cemeteries, implemented better identification and numbering systems, as well as worked out different programs to take care of the soldier s families. For citizens the war changed their ways of mourning, thinking of the afterlife, their views on religion, their process of burial, as well as their amount of respect each person held for the soldiers in the war. One of the most common materials used to create this more superficial treatment dose is a commercial product called Superflab. In college, I passed a number of levels. However, I continued to repeat the same course. That is why my grade point average was low. It is imperative that a formal handover of the patient care is given with all relevant details about anaesthesia and surgery verbally communicated, in order to aid the continuity of care and minimise the risk of omissions (Hamlington, 2012). One study (Kluger and Bullock, 2002) observed that 14% of adverse recovery events was contributed by inadequate handover procedure. The patient was observed on a one to one basis by the recovery ODP whilst observations and monitoring was recorded. When the Internet first came out it began as a new trend, and many people thought it wouldn t last. Over the past 27 years technology has evolved in ways no one would have predicted in its early stages. From cellphones, to computers, TVs, and the Internet itself has so vastly improved in such a small amount of time. Technologyhas changed the way we live daily. From education, interacting with friends and family, dating, music, our health, shopping, entertainment, and become famous our society as a whole has evolved to become entirely dependent on technology. Before schools had students carry heavy textbooks and notebooks. But now in this day and age we carry tablets around storing the information for schools. It has gotten to the point that schools across the country either give out electronics or the students are required to buy them for school. On a related topic paper books are going out of style. Everyone now reads with an tablet. It s good for the environment saving thousands of trees. Interacting with family and friends is a lot different than it is now. Before you would write a letter, speak on the phone, or just talk in person. Now we just post to our social media about news in our lives, then we can check to see if they liked, shared, or reposted your information. With the help of social media dating has turned into the digital age. I m sure all our parents met in real life first through a friend or just flirting with a complete stranger. The Epidemiology, Treatment and Rehabilitation of an Anterior Cruciate Ligament Rupture Introduction The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is the most commonly injured ligament in the body (Spindler, 2008). Griffin (2005) estimated that around 80 000 to more than 250 000 ACL injuries occur each year. An anterior cruciate ligamentrupture (ACLR) can be a devastating injury to an athlete, as they encounter the possibility of reconstructive surgery alongside extensive months of rehabilitation. Also many athletes are unable to return to their former level of athletic performance within the first postoperative year, with many athletes unable to return to play at all (Panariello, 2015). Epidemiology An ACLR can be caused by many mechanisms with 70% being reported with a noncontact nature and 30% reported with the involvement of contact from an outside force such as an opposing player. Of the non contact mechanisms, common movements involved in an ACLR include cutting movements, landing from a jump with inadequate hip and knee flexion close to full extension (Silvers Mandelbaum, 2011). Female athletes are at a greater risk of ACL injuries when compared to their male counter parts, with a two to tenfold higher incidence rate (Silvers, Mandelbaum, 2011). Females are predisposed to ACL injuries due to intrinsic factors. Compared to males, females have a smaller ACL cross sectional area as well increased quadriceps angle (Sutton, Bullock Montgomery, 2013). However, although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Analysis Of Love In The Time Of Cholera Love in the Time of Cholera is a skilfully crafted novel in which Gabriel Garcia Marquez takes the reader on the labyrinthine love journey of the two characters, Fermina Daza and Florentino Ariza. The novel, which is told by a non judgemental omniscient narrator, reveals love in a multi faceted manner that may seem conventional on the surface, yet, the portrayal of lovehas been adeptly designed to incorporate the novels historical context. The story takes place between the late nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, in a Caribbean seaport city in Colombia. The context of both time and place intertwines social traditions, economic hierarchies and political ideologies that collectively play a role in the characters development. The development of Fermina and Florentino s characters reveals differentiated worldviews on gender issues; these perceptions are displayed through their exhibition of love to each other and minor characters. In Love in the Time of Cholera, Marquez blatantly tells the novel in a non prejudicial way which focuses on the revolutionising dominant patriarchal ideologies and attitudes. Hence, a feminist lens will be used to explore the explicit and implicit characterisation of Fermina and Florentino. Marquez explicitly describes Florentino Ariza through his unattractive appearance and social class, highlighting that despite the Florentino s aesthetics and legacy, his love for the socially superior Fermina is eternally irreducible. The Negative Effects Of Animals In Zoos Negative Effects of Animals in Zoos Zoos, often described as establishments with indoor and outdoor settings where live animals are kept, play a vital role in conserving wild species. Zoo establishments serve the purpose of educating zoo visitors about animals and for providing those animals with proper care, but they are typically used for public exhibition. Most people see zoos as places to take their children to learn more about animals, and as a form of entertainment by allowing people to walk around and look at animals in cages. Others see zoos as places that confine animals from their natural habitat, and as places that interfere with the natural order of the animals. There are many factors that contribute to the negative effects of animals being in zoos, most being the zoos management, faculty, and the visitors. How zoo faculties are managed is one of the many ways that animals in zoos can be affected negatively. According to Smit, [t]he obvious managerial goal with such facilities is to achieve a level of integration of facilities and services, but a level of integration which is driven by the needs of animals in any given zoological facility (Smit). Smit believes that facilities and services should be combined in a way that has a favorable effect towards the animals. The small groups, seen in the Book of Acts, have been replaced by large centralized denominations and religious institutions, and in the process, the idea that the Body of Christ is a family has been relegated into large groups of strangers. The early church was a family unit that extended far beyond the ideals and principles experienced in the church today (Sprinkle, 2015). The 1st century church exemplified fellowship, commitment, and service to others and was held together by an unconditional bond made possible by Jesus Christ (Sprinkle, 2015). The church in Acts was also devoid of hierarchy and actual buildings, except for synagogues. Christians, in the 1st century, were neither militaristic nor voracious for power; instead, they looked to the cross and overcame evil through suffering and love, rather than weaponry (Sprinkle, 2015). Early Christians took the church to the people as Christ intended, as such; it was not uncommon for many to gather in the homes of others or any other place suitable for fellowship, worship, and the study of God s Word. The church was more about people, rather than the four walls containing the people of the modern day church (Sprinkle, 2015). Marketing in the Banking Industry Marketing in the Banking industry Introduction: In many ways, the banking industry has functioned more as a private industry offering something of a public utility. Through this unique role, the industry has dramatically expanded its service and product offerings over the last several decades. However, even as the industry has evolved, its marketing strategies have remained somewhat static. The assumption for many in the banking industry not unlike a public utility is that their services are needed by the public. This, in and of itself, is a view that has dissuaded many from achieving the type of marketing presence from which they might otherwise benefit. However, this approach is shifting significantly today as banks struggle to compete with one another and with their own negative reputations. As the discussion here will show, more effective marketing is the key to driving new success in an industry in need of a recovery. Problem Statement: Over the last decade, a string of corporate collapses has contributed to a decided downslide in the reputation of the global banking industry. Scandal, embezzlement and dishonesty marked the downfall of a number of prominent investment banking firms, helping to compound a sense for many in the public that bank s are driven by greed and are not to be trusted. I open my closet doors and scan over the contents before picking out a pair of boots, a white, chunky sweater, a black scarf, and some thick jeans. With a click, my door unlocks and swings open to reveal the bathroom door in front of me. The cold hardwood floor makes my feet tingle whilst I cross into the even colder bathroom. Although the room is cold, I feel warm inside with excitement while I change into my clothing and flash an indeterminate smile at the mirror. A second click sounds when I open the door and head to the large kitchen. I almost make it without any accidents only to break the streak by tripping on air and face planting into the maroon colored wood. Mara, one of my two bratty kin, remarks, Can you not go 5 minutes without hurting yourself? Her statement is met with a half hearted laugh and grin whilst pushing myself up and walking ... Football is a big deal to this country because it is our sport. NFL players are speaking out, well actually they are standing out to show America that they are not okay with how they are being treated. When a national figure such as an NFL player refuses to stand for the national anthem, it shocks people into paying attention and generates conversation. Three reasons why athletes should kneel down for the national anthem are they should protestto show their concerns, it s not an official rule, and NFL players should have a right of freedom. First, athletes should protest their concerns. For example, Kaepernick kneeling was to bring attention to police brutality against African Americans. According to Autumn Allison, the author of Why do NFL players protest during national anthem? A timeline: From Kaepernick to Trump there have been significant words used disrespectfully. Trump made an extremely decisive statement about the players who kneel, calling them an unnecessary word and that they should get fired. In addition, Trump said that kneeling has nothing to do with race, but it actually does from the injustice in the country. Many players protest because they are not being treated fairly, so they re expressing their feelings. Secondly It s not an official rule for NFL players to stand during the national anthem. For example The Seattle Seahawks said as a team Out of love for our country and in honor of the sacrifices made on our behalf, we unite to oppose those that would deny our most basic freedoms. According to Anthem kneeling isn t aimed at veterans, and other NFL protest misconceptions by Josh Hafner, it is stated that kneeling down is not just respect for the country but Colin Kaepernick said I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.
