The Three Branches Of Congress
The United States government is comprised of three branches; executive, legislative and judicial. Of
these branches it is said that the President, under the executive branch, has the most power. Congress
as part of the legislative branch, however according to the text, American Government Institutions and
Policies by James Wilson, John Dilulio, and Meena Bose, to the Framers of the Constitution, the
bicameral (two chamber) Congress was the first branch. They expected Congress to wield most of the
national government s powers...and [have] the ultimate authority to declare war (p. 303). However, as
we know the commander in chief (the President) has the authority to declare war, and can be
considered as the central figure in American politics . Coincidentally, the relationship between
Congress and the President, expected by the Framers of the Constitution, is seemingly different than
what they originally had in mind. The dynamic of both entities have shifted over the years; especially
in reference to how the legislative branch operates. Most contemporary Americans and many experts,
however, think of Congress not as the first branch but as the broken branch, unable to address the
nation s most pressing domestic, economic, and international problems in an effective way; unduly
responsive to powerful organized special interests; awash in nonstop campaign fundraising and other
activities that many believe border on political corruption; and unlikely to fix itself through real
reforms (p.303). The power and authority of the United States governmental branches has shifted
since the creation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, the President and Congress find it hard to work together to pass legislations. One can say there
has been a divide in the two entities. As we know, the party of the president does not always match the
party of Congress; which can create difficulties when creating new

Sexual Education And Sex Education
The purpose of this paper is to explain the importance of sexual education and describe differences
and similarities in some of the research done on this topic. Having sexual education available to youth
is the key in reducing the number of unwanted situations in the sexual health of the individuals.
Teaching adolescents about sex is beneficial because they become aware of consequence that might
follow specific actions. This is a chance to ensure adolescents take safer routes when deciding to
become sexually active. Youth sexual education has been correlated with preventing unplanned
pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Many schools have sexual education programs
but many teenage pregnancies that are unplanned and STIs are occurring. One reason could be
because very few of these sexual education programs are attending to the traditional social norms
around sexuality and gender. It is important to consider and focus on the traditional social norms
because findings in previous studies have found those that hold traditional social beliefs around
gender and sexuality, are at greater risks of negative sexual health consequences. Adolescents should
be given the opportunity to receive the proper sexual education in order to eliminate negative sexual
health consequences. Researchers have found that individuals in sexual education programs that
address traditional social norms and the effects of these beliefs, are less likely to agree with
hegemonic masculinity

##arison Of Down By The Sally Gardens And The Lake Isle Of...
William Butler Yeats is considered to be one of the notable poets of Irish literature and had a major
role in Irish politics. One can notice the slow shift from the English style of romanticism to serious
political messages in his poems. A lot of his early works had a lot of motifs and imagery of nature. I
want to examine two of these poems, Down by the Sally Gardens and The Lake Isle of Innisfree, the
way these poems are designed are somewhat similar, but may have contrasting meanings and may
have different contexts.
Down by the Sally Gardens and The Lake Isle of Innisfree both are nature poems, which means, they
use natural aesthetic to describe human emotions. Both of them are early works of W.B. Yeats. These
poems, unlike, Easter 1916 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yeats is starting to talk more about the beauty of Ireland. He is not getting fully political, but he is
definitely more patriotic and is proud to call Innisfree his land. A bit of the poem is like an incantation.
I shall arise and go now, and go to Innisfree (1); And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles
made: Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee (2 3) While I stand on the roadway,
or on the pavements grey, (The Lake Isle of Innisfree, 11)
There is a lot of description to nature in Innisfree, like, veils of the morning , midnight s glimmer ,
noon a purple glow , a place that W.B. Yeats is mentioning in this poem. He is missing the nature, the
feeling of that place that he considers his homeland. With reference to line 11 and 12, it may be
because he is in a highly urbanized place, he wants to go back to his Innisfree where everything was
perfect and beautiful. Unlike Down by the Sally Gardens where he uses nature to describe human
emotions of struggle, in The Lake Isle of Innisfree, he believes he will be at peace over there, And I
shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, (5) This poem has a tone of an
incantation and he uses nature to romanticize the country he loves. It may also be that the poet is
giving Ireland it s own anthem. That can be shown in the last stanza of the poem, I hear it in the deep
heart s core. (12) This line sort of is like he is being called from Ireland and the Irish

The Waves Zone And The Mid Tide Zone
As the Cellana denticulata is distributed in the upper lower intertidal zone and the mid tide zone it
must be able to withstand the upper lower intertidal zone and the mid tide zone as the rocky shore
experiences tidal fluctuations (abiotic factor) that occurs in a regular pattern in which the beach has
submerged areas and desiccated areas (the niche of the Cellana denticulata) this is an abiotic factor
that affects their survival. Tidal fluctuations are when the tide (sea) comes in and submerges areas of
the rocky shore while others are exposed. The tide ranges in vertical differences along the rocky shore;
from high tide, mid tide to low tide this is called zonation. These are the tides that fluctuate in a
regular pattern along the rocky shore and this is mainly due to the gravitation pull of the moon.
However the sun also affects the tides but has less gravitational force as the sun is further away from
earth. The gravitational pull of the moon is the main cause for tidal fluctuations as the moon has a
stronger gravitational pull as it is closer to the earth than the sun, hence the main cause for tidal
fluctuations as the gravitational pull from the moon exerted onto earth is greater than the earth.
Because the earth is in constant motion of rotation the earth and the moon become closer in distance
as the earth is not perfectly round and has uneven surfaces. These uneven surfaces or areas of the earth
are closer in distance to the moon and therefore the gravitational pull

The Causes And Consequences Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a huge turning point in history at which the development of industry
began in England in the 18th century. It introduced machinery to the world. The industrial revolution
was characterized by hand production to new machine manufacturing, the increased use of steam
power, the rise of the factory system and development of machine tools. As time passed by, the
technological innovations continued to shape the modern world, Everything that everybody uses
throughout their daily lives is due to manufacturing. How would people ever have been able to put a
man on the moon or get to travel from New York to Paris without the things that came from the
Industrial Revolution? Of course, the consequences of the industrial revolution were brutal, but for the
most part there were solutions to those consequences, that changed the world for the greater good. The
benefits of the industrial revolution outweigh the costs because it led to the creation of unions, and the
technological innovations from the industrial revolution helped change the lifestyle of many people.
Some will say that the benefits of the industrial revolution do not outweigh the cost because child
labor was terrible, and many workers were working in horrible condition at low wages for long hours.
When the industrial revolution began, the rise of the factory system was high. But there were no rules
of how a factory should be run, considering it was a capitalist economy. In a capitalist

Measuring the Impact of Outdoor Management Development A Literature Review
Abstract Despite the increase in popularity of Outdoor management development courses, there is a
significant lack in proof of the effectiveness of an OMD. This paper looks at the various researches
that has been done in the field of OMD and identifies the expected outcomes of an OMD as personal
development, managerial development, team development and organizational development. It also
points out the various characteristics that is required for an OMD to be branded effective and have a
significant development on the participants. It then looks at the various studies that has been

David Kolb s experiential learning model (1984) one of the most commonly used models of learning
styles defines four stages in the learning cycle: concrete experience, observation and reflection, the
formation of abstract concepts and testing in new situations. Experiential learning increases our
reserve of reliable experiences that can help us adapt to any challenging situation we come across.
When attempting to learn through experience, we first have to have a concrete experience of a scale
such that it is brief enough to be analyzed in detail, contains enough detail to draw learning from and
has meaning for the group analyzing it. In an OMD, concrete experience is provided through training
exercises, outdoor adventure activities and team building games. Processing experiential learning
activities through group discussions and debriefing sessions help learn from even seemingly mundane
events.
Dainty and Lucas (1992) suggest that ...the outdoors provides one of the most powerful mediums for
the development of self and other awareness . The rationale offered is that; An individual s behavior is
often clearly visible during outdoor development programmes. It is impossible to hide behind
organizational and educational norms in an environment where these no longer exist .
Similar arguments are propounded by Long and Galagan (1984, 1987). Thus, the principle is that the
outdoors provide activities and/or environments devoid of traditional

Theme Of Courage In Beowulf
In the epic poem, Beowulf, the main character, Beowulf, can be seen as one of the most prime and
pure examples of an epic hero due to his almighty courage. What is an epic hero without courage?
Well, not a epic hero at all. Beowulf has the superhuman strength, glory and fame, but he cannot
embody those characteristics if he does not have courage to drive him primarily. Initially, the reader
can get a taste of Beowulf epicness when he heavily boasts about his battle at sea with Breca. Due to
jealousy, Unferth calls him out for his loss in the thrashing waves, yet Beowulf shows no
embarrassment and even exploits Unferth for his lack of braveness as he claims, The fact is, Unferth,
if you were truly as keen and courageous as you claim to be, Grendel would never have gotten away
with such unchecked atrocity, attacks on your king, havoc in Heorot and horror everywhere (Heaney
590 594). He makes it clear that no one can deteriorate or match the courage that he beholds. While he
the battle is brought up, Beowulf states that Often, for undaunted courage, fate spares a man that it has
not already marked (572 573). This is inferring that if one hasn t died yet due to fate, they can
continue living their life through courage. This foreshadows the mindset of Beowulf and how he holds
the theory of bravery close in his morals. As Beowulf goes on to explain this rigorous battle, he claims
that not only did he swim for seven days in full armor, but also nonchalantly slayed nine sea

Metaphors In The King James Bible

Advanced English 12 6th period

Metaphors in the King James Bible The King James Bible is a translation of the Bible. Older
translations were more difficult to comprehend. As a result, King James demanded that a new
translation be made to better accommodate the readers. In this translation, metaphors and other literary
devices are presented. In the King James Bible, metaphors are used to provide examples of God s
teachings, to help the audience obtain a better understanding of the text, and to evoke readers into
remembering the wise expressions displayed.
Metaphors, in the King James Bible, are considered to be examples of God s teaching. For example,
the Bible says you cannot obey two masters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not all expressions found in the Bible are biblical, they also explain subtle life lessons to us (Sweeny

vast area of expressions not only relating to religion. The King James Bible is the source of hundreds
of common expressions (Aitken 65). Many of the expressions we use today trace back to this
translation. The King James translation created a majority of the phrases in the language today. The
King James Bible provides life lessons.
The metaphors in the King James Bible had a huge impact on its readers. King James main goal was
to create a Bible easier for the people to understand. Thus, compared to older Bible versions, the King
James version is more coherent. The presentation of metaphors helped achieve this.. In the King James
translation, metaphors provided a coherent examples of the Lord s work, helped the readers

No Tolerance For A Lack Of Maternity Leave
Zero Tolerance For A Lack Of Maternity Leave Whenever we hear a story on the news of a woman or
her family struggling because they re being refused maternity leave it breaks our hearts. These
women, expecting mothers, have to carry or have carried a child for roughly 9 months. Most if not all
have done so by being on their feet all day and have only had the required minimum for breaks. Is it
then wrong to ask for maternity leave? Should pregnant women not be allowed some work
accommodations? Well, contrary to popular belief, maternity leave is more than just a time for a
woman s gestation period or relaxation. In a country with a population of more than 308 million
women I think maternity should be a right. So, then who is to blame for the lack of maternity leave?
The answer: male bosses. It s thanks to these bosses that once women are mothers, they have to go
back to work as soon as possible. All these new mothers are told by their male bosses that they are
expected back as soon as they can. These men allow little to no maternity leave for women in the work
force. And I think we can all agree that this is a serious issue for our nation. There must be a solution
to this detrimental illness afflicting our country. Which is why I have proposed a solution that will
benefit not only women but our whole nation. If male bosses are forced to wear maternity belts they
will feel sympathetic to the struggles of pregnant women. They in turn will be motivated to give paid
maternity

Analysis Of George Eliot s Adam Bede
In George Eliot s Adam Bede we witness an illustration of the discussion between not only crime, but
morality, values, and extraordinarily, beauty as well. The so called universal ideal of femininity is,
according to our novelist s own interpretation, being interrogated sternly. Unfortunately, what we find
in Eliot s own interrogation method of these structures is just another, albeit different, version of
Liberal Humanism with its own stereotypes, judgement calls, and unfair half treatments of women,
their bodies, and their interiorities. While Eliot provides us female characters, Dinah and Hetty, as
guideposts to understand women s autonomy of decision, we are still given stale caricatures of saintly
self sacrifice and vain, illogical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dinah, or selfless saint, spends her time focused on the mores of the world, of the sake of the souls of
people, and not on her own comfort or path. While Eliot branches out in making Dinah a Methodist
Minister, she still lives into the feminine standards. Dinah pushes without pushing too hard and always
seeks the betterment of others. Whereas Hetty, after she met her lover in the woods, rebuked Dinah s
attempts to help her and returned to the woods shortly there after in a state of consciousness that was
fragmented and confused, Dinah returned to her bedchamber and and threw herself on her knees, and
poured out in deep silence all the passionate pity that filled her heart for Hetty. Hetty, however, cannot
be bothered by the concerns, desires, and vulnerabilities which exist in the other. Eliot curated Hetty to
serve as the counterpoint of to the values Eliot promotes, and while she does some interesting things
with how Hetty is observed by others (which shall not currently be discussed), Hetty is still
representative and modelled in the stereotypical style of the vain woman willing to forgo duties and
her own honor in hopes of attaining higher position and so called fineries. When Hetty encounters
another character she doesn t look into engaging with their needs or wants, but rather reacts to them
based merely off of her own needs. As Adam desperately attempts to flirt with her by the currant trees,
Hetty is incapable of

My Dorm Room At The Pennsylvania State University
Staying cool is something we all strive to do when it is too hot, and vice versa when it is too cold.
Being to hot or too cold is an extreme nuisance in every day lives, but I d much rather be too cold than
too hot. It is quite simple to keep warm: either put on more layers of clothing or wrap yourself in a
blanket. To keep cool is another story; one could strip off layers of clothes until they are naked and
have no more layers to go, then they resort to a fan, which in turn is just blowing more hot air at them.
Coming to The Pennsylvania State University I was excited to learn, meet new people and have fun,
and I have been able to do most of those, however, it is sometimes difficult with the scalding oven that
is my dorm room. To help fix the problem that my fellow students and I are experiencing, I propose
that the university either install central air conditioning in all dorms, or, barring that, install air
conditioning units in dorm rooms, in order to allow students to get more sleep, better grades, and have
an overall better and healthier college experience. Sleeping for as long as you want! Sounds like
paradise, but it is quite unrealistic. Instead I would ask to sleep for as long as I could until my alarm
wakes me up for class. That should not be too much to ask for, nonetheless, it takes great effort on my
part to do the actual sleeping. It is hard enough to go to bed with thoughts of grades and of life little
stresses in general, but is remarkably difficult when

Performance-enhancing Drugs and Athletes
With the change of rules in sports throughout the many centuaries, the most advance form of
improving the ability of athletes is known as doping. Doping are performance enhancing drugs which
are used in sports. The uses of these drugs are considered to be unethical as it gives competitors an
unfair advantage. Sports is seen as an activity based on full ethics and complete discipline.
With the invention of performance enhancing drugs in sports, it gives athletes a greater opportunity of
cheating. There are many different types of drugs however the most common ones that are used
include Steroids, Amphetamines, Stimulants, Peptide Hormones, Human Growth Hormone and
Insulin. Steroids and performance enhancing drugs increase the amount of testosterone in the body.
This allows the body to develop a greater muscle growth and increase body mass. These drugs are
available in the form of pills or it can be injected as Anabolic steroids serve as a supplement when
entered in the body.
Athletes use steroids in order to be the best and remain as the best. Sports is a competitive game in
which athletes feel obliged to win and strive to become better than others. Although the improvement
of sports has increased greatly, there are rules and regulations that must be followed. Sports include
the protection of the health and safety of the athletes. It also includes the respect for medical and sport
ethics. With unfair advantages due to medical conditions, it does not ensure an equal chance for

Tycoons of the Progressive Era did not have the safety and protection in mind of the workers who

regulations that were unnecessary to the job, and none that were necessary. In 1911, a fire at the
Triangle Waist Company broke out that claimed the lives of many women working on the upper floors
of the Asch building. Because of this incident, the conditions that these immigrant women and
children worked in were exposed, which in turn led to various reform groups coming together to fight

Every morning the boss would give the girls their work load for the day. He would throw them in
troughs that were dug into the tables. Paper patterns were strewn messily along the walls. If there was
a mess up on a pattern or it is damaged, then the cloth is discarded. Piles similar to those would be
spread out along the floor. They were a tripping hazard and a fire hazard, as the material is flammable.
The workers were also fined for the damaged piece and sometimes, the entire yard of fabric. The work
hours were long, generally from seven in the morning until six at night. Usually people would come in
to work on the weekends also. If people stayed past dark, they had to use gaslight to light the rooms.
This was also considered another fire hazard. Since there were no work regulations during this time
period, there were no standards for safety or how one had to behave towards others. Accidents in these
shops were extremely common. The women wanted to get as much done as they possibly could

Instruction Methods For Teaching Decisions
I honestly thought that this lesson was going to be taught to teach to the class. I spent countless hours
reading the information in the curriculum handbook and even collaborating with other teachers just to
understand the material properly. I was thoroughly surprised at how well the lesson was received and
it greatly boosted my self confidence in my planning and teaching decisions. This lesson was all about
symmetry and dividing crazy cakes evenly between two people by looking for smaller shapes within
the larger shape. The shapes of the cakes literally were crazy because they were not shaped like your
normal cake. There were many different angles and sides, because of this each student had to really sit
and visualize what other shapes were inside the cake. I feel that my instruction methods worked great
for this lesson. I followed the plan given to me by the curriculum book by talking about the activity
first then letting the students work together in groups to divide the cakes as best as possible. I thought
it would be beneficial to let students come up to the board and practice with dividing the cakes before
letting them work with their groups. I think that by allowing a few of them to show their initial
thought process allowed others to see how they could divide their cakes as well. I then gave direct
instructions on how we were to transition to our tables and begin working on their crazy cakes. The
classroom has been struggling lately with transitions, so I was very

Heredity and Hormones Effect on Behavior Essay
Human behavior has been a mystery to scientists and psychologists for years. What causes humans to
act the way they do? Is it learned by experience, or inherited from prior generations? The human brain
is a complex machine driven by numerous intangibles that influence our thinking process directly and
indirectly.
The endocrine system in the human body stores a chemical known as hormones. Hormones are
released by endocrine glands into the bloodstream and travel throughout the body carrying messages.
A hormonal impulse is similar to a nerve impulse only much slower. The messages carried by the
hormones trigger different behaviors. Hormones can affect behavior in many ways such as: Mental
activity or tiredness, boredom or excitement, sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both glands produce two distinct hormones, but produce differing amounts of each hormone.
Masculine hormones such as androgens and testosterone are predominately produced by male testes.
These hormones at high levels can be related to aggressive behavior regardless of sex, but high levels
are most commonly found in males. High levels of feminine hormones or estrogen, most commonly
found in females, have recently been linked to aggressive behavior as well. While high levels of
estrogen in females and high levels of testosterone in males have been linked to aggressive behavior,
normal levels of these hormones have been known to cause aggression as well. Although these
hormones have been related to human behavior, scientists have concluded that these hormones alone
do not dictate behavior (Morris Maisto, 2005).
Adrenal glands, located near the kidneys, secrete several hormones that are activated by the nervous
system. These hormones dictate the body s reaction to stressful situations. Each person secretes a
different amount of hormones, therefore affecting behavior in stressful situations differently (Morris
Maisto, 2005).
Behavior is party affected by human hormones present in the body built from genetic traits inherited
from the individual s parents. The genetic makeup of an individual combined with a certain
environment, can affect behavior. Genetics is the science of analyzing traits inherited through
generations. These traits are determined by genes that

The Economic Origins of the French Revolution
The inflated opinion the French monarchy had about themselves and other nobles lent itself to how
they contributed to and handled the economic downturn in France for centuries prior to the French
Revolution. Forming the foundation of many of France s financial issues, the monarchial system
granted royals and the nobles who surrounded them the ability to feel as if they are intended to be
superior to the rest of France, a mentality that would last until the French Revolution began. With this
monarchial system, each king of France from 1610 to 1789 would contribute in both positive and
negative ways, depending greatly on the Chief Ministers they appointed. [ADD] Marking a significant

One of Richelieu s main areas of focus was with the country s military forces and wars, as he wanted
to expand and modernize the French Navy, while he is also credited with beginning the legacy of
French Kings being involved in unnecessary wars. Despite having been mentored by Richelieu,
Cardinal Jules Mazarin as Chief Minister for both Louis XIII, following the death of Richelieu, and
Louis XIV was not interested in economic or cultural development. Due to his lack of interest in such
developments, Mazarin encouraged the appointment of Nicolas Fouquet as Superintendent of
Finances, however, King Louis XIV eventually imprisoned Fouquet after eight years in the position.
His imprisonment is relatively ironic, as it was a punishment for Fouquet s overt extravagance, which
would be an issue that plagued Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI until the French Revolution. Four
years following Mazarin s death and Fouquet s imprisonment in 1661, Jean Baptiste Colbert assumed
the position of Minister of Finances under Louis XIV. Colbert s eighteen years in office were
productive, as he would encourage the development of colonies belonging to France, such as Quebec
and Louisiana, realizing the potential of using them to create an economically self sufficient unit
within France. Colbert would also promote industry with the use of tariffs, subsidies and other

species biodiversity relates to the varieties of species in a particular habitat (Flinders University,
2015). The greater the biodiversity in a habitat, the more complex are the interactions between species
and the higher the productivity of the ecosystem (Long, et al., 2007). This experiment looked at the
biodiversity of invertebrates in vegetated and open water areas of a freshwater system and the
Simpson s Diversity Indices were used as mathematical indicator of the invertebrate species diversity.

The standard deviation was approximately the same for both habitats, which indicates that the
variation in the data was the same. This suggests that the vegetated area is more biologically diverse
than the open water area. Simpson s index of diversity is also higher for the vegetated area, 0.82,
compared to the open water area, 0.68 (Table 1). A higher value of Simpson s index of diversity also
indicates higher diversity in the vegetated habitat.
From figure 1 it can be seen that open water area of the north side of Flinders University Lakes was
more populated with a high number or organisms present than the vegetated area. However, this larger
population is mainly attributed to the large number of copepods (~750) present in the open water area
(shown in red in Figure 1). The vegetated area had a higher species richness with 17 species present
compared to 13 species in the open water area. This implies that the vegetated area had a higher level
of invertebrate biodiversity than the open water area of the

north eastern region. Egypt was a suitable habitat. There were coastlines, tidal flats, and channels of
fish lined along with mangrove forests.(5) Spinosaurus is way bigger than the biggest of
Tyrannosaurus. It ate anything that was alive in the waters including fishes, crocodiles and other land
animals. There were a skull, claws, and bones that formed the sail on its back. If we take a closer look
on the skull of Spinosaurus we could see that it has a small nostrils midway up the snout, which is
used for breathing with the jaws submerged, this unique characteristic is similar to how the crocodiles

Sexually Transmitted Disease Essay
Sexually Transmitted Diseases Sex is a popular subject; it is on television, in advertisements, in
magazines, and practically everywhere. One very serious side effect of an increase of sexual activity is
the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases. They affect more than twelve million Americans
each year. Sexually transmitted diseases are becoming common and widely spread throughout
Americans because of unprotected sex, permiscuity, and multiple sex partners. Some of the most
commonly found sexually transmitted diseases are gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV/AIDS, and syphilis.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates there are three million new infections in the
United each year. (Ultimate Guide: Chlamydia par.2) Chlamydia is a bacterial sexually transmitted
disease. This organism, a very small bacterium, gets its name from the Greek word chlamys, meaning,
cloak. It must cloak itself inside a cell to multiply. The infection is often persistent and relatively silent
for long periods, because the cell provides camouflage for the germ. (Jackson 73) Chlamydia is
mainly transmitted through anal and vaginal sex with an infected partner. It is also possible, but not
very common to spread chlamydia through oral sex. Another way it can be transmitted is from an
infected mother to her newborn child during birth. People can get eye infections from chlamydia if an
infected bodily fluid reaches the eye during sex. (Ultimate Guide: Chlamydia par.3) Symptoms of the
infection appear in seven to twenty one days. Chlamydia, often called the silent sexually transmitted
disease, does not show any symptoms at all. Symptoms can include abnormal fluid discharge from the
penis or vagina, pain or burning during urination, testicular pain, vaginal bleeding, bleeding after or
pain during intercourse, rectal inflammation, rectal discharge, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain.

Fairness Is Equality, And Equality Is Perfection
Distribution Day Fairness is equality, and equality is perfection. The cold of winter had finally given
way to gentle temperateness, and the spring sun shone over the massive, perfectly manicured lawn,
dappling its light through the leafy branches of the grand, towering oak tree. Elana Steinbach sat
peacefully thereunder, sipping cool, sweet lemonade for the first time in months as she perused a
book. The leaves danced in the cool breeze; the whole environment was quite tranquil. There was
nothing like the first day of true spring, when one could at last escape the stale, heated air and
enclosing confines of the indoors.

Evan Klein was among those whom Elana had adjudged unlikely to contribute to society. Growing up,
his parents had received a modest amount of rations. While his family was never among the elite,
Evan rarely wanted for much (though this could also be attributed to his selfless attitude). They had
lived in a quaint but roomy house, an older style stucco abode with a black, shingled roof. Their
neighborhood, in the outskirts of the city, was what Evan used to refer to as a Godilocks neighborhood
a happy medium of not too crowded and not too empty.
In contrast to Elana s apparent opinion, Evan considered himself rather a bright man. His scores in
school had been on par with his peers and he had exhibited a propensity for economics; he could have
performed quite well in any number of entrepreneurial endeavors. Instead, his knowledge of
economics had led him to idealism: he believed wholeheartedly in the value of the free market, and
saw no good reason for society s system of market strangulating quasi capitalism through the
assessment of people s worth and artificial allotment of resources thereby. In old times, merits were
judged not by the government, but by employers, in true free markets. To question the ways of society
was tantamount to the sacrilege of which people spoke in the era of religion, but Evan nonetheless felt
that only the stupid could possibly be duped into thinking that the system under which he lived
constituted economic

talks about how at home with her mother there is shifting of less structured kind English, whereas
everywhere else she tried to use a more reformed English. She had the epiphany while giving a

The Safety Of Autonomous Vehicles
Smart Cars
Gartner has estimated that by 2020 there will be 250 million connected cars on the worlds roads,
which has left a considerable asking questions about the safety of autonomous vehicles (Scott). An
autonomous vehicle is a mode of transportation that does not need a person driving it.
Cisco s Smart Connected Vehicles division has a hypothesis which states that autonomous cars could
eliminate as 85 percent of head on collisions. One of the greatest problems that smart cars face is
getting people to trust them. In a study conducted by Carlnsur, it found that 80 percent of people
would not purchase a self driving car if they had the option, citing their main reason of opposition as a
lack of trust in the computer to get them to their destination safely (Young).
Furthermore, because the cars will be able to communicate with each other Cisco believes that the
traffic would be lighter and therefore save drivers time spent in traffic. Henceforth, by cars spending
less time in traffic there will be less carbon released into the air and fuel costs will decrease, which
will lead to a more sustainable environment.
Smart Trains
Nearly $30 billion will be spent in the next 15 years on the IoT projects in the railway industry,
according to Cisco. This is expensive because extremely old infrastructure will need to be replaced
with cutting edge technologies. The new IoT technology will be able to allow for more productivity
and a safer ride.

Tuberculosis As A Contagious Disease
What is Tuberculosis? Tuberculosis, TB for short, is an ancient disease that has been around even
before the first recorded disease in the history. This disease can be found in Egyptian mummies from
4000 BC. Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, or tubercle bacillus ( Centers for
disease, 2011). Tuberculosis is primarily a disease of the lungs, but the TB bacterium can also travel
through blood stream and attack any part of the body like kidney, spine and brain (Hamann, 1994).
According to CDC, tuberculosis is considered one of the world s deadliest diseases; 1/3 of the world s
population suffers from TB infection, in 2010, there were nearly nine million people that became sick

Theory of Consumption, More Especially of Phthisis or Consumption of the Lungs, in this book he
noted the likelihood of the tuberculosis contagion stating that close proximity to someone that has this
disease causes the other person to acquired it (Reichman Hershfield, 2000). Which in a way, Benjamin
Martin, is right on point. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease, which means its main mode of
transmission is through the air. Animals such as cattle can carrier the bacteria, but most cause human

tuberculosis will be able to infect the air around him/her by sneezing, coughing, speaking or even
singing ( Centers for disease, 2011). The airborne droplet of the bacteria lingers longer in the air and
thus people that are in close proximity or just happen to walk by and breathe in the bacteria will
become infected. Unlike any other contagious disease, TB is not spread by shaking someone s hand,
sharing food or drink, touching bed lines or toilet seat, sharing personal items and kissing. But not
everyone that s been exposed to someone that has tuberculosis becomes symptomatic, or sick; as a
result there is two types of Tuberculosis related conditions; latent TB infection and active TB

Comparing The Death Of A Salesman And The Great Gatsby By...
English Essay: Compare and contrast After reading The Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and The
Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, it is clear that there are associations that can be made between the
two novels. There are many ways in which the life of Willy Loman compares or contrasts with the life
of Jay Gatsby. The most obvious and simplest comparison is their pursuit of the American Dream
which leads to their ultimate downfall. Although, Willy and Gatsby contrast in the way they pursue the
American dream, their stories are very similar because they show us that following this dream one s
entire life will eventually lead to one s downfall. One thing that continues to come up in A Death of a
Salesman is the fact that Willy has this huge desire to be well liked. This is more important to him
than being accomplished or having a good job. He constantly tells Linda and his kids that it is more
important to be well liked than to be successful at work or in school. He lies to his kids about the fact
that he is well liked which eventually leads to his two kids growing up as failures. Seeing how his lies
have hurt, not only himself, but his children too, Willy decides to do what in his mind, is the only
thing he can do to save help his family. He decides to kill himself and then maybe he will have a lot of
people show up to his funeral which would mean that he is well liked. Of course no one shows up to

Osmosis Lab Report
First you must define what diffusion is, diffusion is when molecules in a solute spread from high
concentrated areas into lower concentrated areas, without outside forces acting upon it. Diffusion is
affected by molecular kinetic energy, diffusion can also occur in all three states of matter. Now you
must define osmosis, osmosis is similar to diffusion but is when water molecules pass through a semi
permeable from the less concentrated solution to the more concentrated solution. In cells osmosis is
not only affected by the concentration of the solute but also by the resistance of the water movement.
The words hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic are used to describe the different concentrations in
these membranes. .A hypertonic solution has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

water will leave the cell. You should even be able to see a layer of water laying on top of the corn
syrup to back up your conclusion. One drawl back to this lab is you can break the egg if you are not
careful with it after you take the hard shell off. If it is dropped there is a great possibility that it will
break due to the force of the fall. Also if you didn t want to have uneven results or have a wide margin
of error you would have to make sure that the water, vinegar, and corn syrup are all the same amounts.
You would also want to make sure the eggs are the same size and same brand. You would also want to
make sure the cups you use are uniform, that they are the same size and same width. The same scale
must also be used to weigh the eggs. Also you would need to make sure that each of the eggs are kept
at the same temperature. If you don t do these things then you could end up with inconclusive results,
this is because if you use to many different things you will have to many variables to keep track of

messages to the humans. She appeared in front of people in a humanly way to reveal the orders of

every time the gods had to take a solemn oath. Her duty might seem like an easy duty, but it was
actually very important one. It was very important for Iris to take the gods the water, if she didn t they

Boeing Engineering Strike Case Analysis
Negotiation Efforts: The Boeing Engineering Strike In 2000, the Boeing Company found itself in an
unprecedented crisis. Over 17,000 engineers walked off the job site in a massive strike initiative.
Attempts to end and mitigate the strike provide a backdrop for negotiation process analysis in a
collective bargaining situation. Prior to the engineering strike, Boeing grossly underestimated the
morale and emotions of the company s engineers. The failure to connect with employee concerns cost
the company in both reputation and financial loss. The purpose of this paper is to explore the
negotiation process as it unfolded during the Boeing engineering strike.

Perseverance
Overall Purpose/Theme:
The overall theme of the poem was Perseverance because the bird who has been thrown into the real
world must overcome all obstacles thrown its way to live a good life.
Evidence to support the theme:
1. Thomas Hardy writes and every spirit upon the earth seemed fervourless as I (15 16). Although this
sounds like the opposite of perseverance this is when the bird is actually realizing that it will be living
in this dark gruesome world and it needs to just suck it up and deal with it.
2. The author states That I could think there trembled through His happy good night air some blessed
hope (29 31). This quote shows the speakers hope for perseverance after hearing the birds insightful
song on how you will need to be prepared to take on the world and the only way is if you persevere
because the world will throw many obstacles your way and you need to be prepared for it.

Graph Model Essay
In order to understand the structure of a complex social network, three random graph models have
been used [10]. For an overall comparative study, the basic centrality measures, clustering coefficient,
average path length, and the degree distribution were studied for the original network model as well as
for the random graph models. a. RANDOM GRAPH MODELS A random graph is obtained by
starting with a set of n isolated vertices and adding successive edges between them at random [8]. 1.
Erdos Renyi (ER) random graph model It is a random graph with n vertices where every edge has
equal probability p of existing. This graph model has a constant and independent probability of two
nodes being connected. 2. Barabasi Albert (BA) preferential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Closeness centrality of a node is the reciprocal of the sum of its distances to all other nodes. c.
CLUSTERING COEFFICIENT The degree to which nodes in a graph tend to cluster together in
tightly knit groups is given by the clustering coefficient. d. AVERAGE PATH LENGTH It is defined
as the average number of steps along the shortest paths for all possible pairs of network nodes. It is a
measure of the efficiency of information transfer on a network. Most real networks have a very short
average path length leading to the concept of a small world where each one is connected to the other
through a short path. e. DEGREE DISTRIBUTION The degree distribution of a network P(k) is
defined to be the fraction of nodes in the network with degree k. Degree distribution depicts the
difference in the degree of connectivity between all the nodes in a network. It gives the probability
distribution of the node degrees over the network. IV. EXPERIMENTAL SETUP In order to generate
the random graph models, the NetworkX module [11] present in Python3 has been used in Spyder
(Scientific Python Development Environment) in Windows10 64 bit Operating System, having an
Intel®Core™i3 5015U (2.10GHz) processor and a 4 GB RAM capacity. The Facebook dataset [12]

First Transit Job Analysis
I thought that I had found the job of my dreams, and possibly my career. A job where everything was
perfect and I progressed quickly, but an unexpected turn of events quickly proved me wrong. I went

to be more beneficial than I expected. My first job at First Transit was everything I wanted and more.
For starters, it was located in my home town of Church Point, and the pay was above average for the
area. The ideal nine to five schedule was also a plus. As a customer service representative I was doing
what I loved, helping people. I quickly moved up to a supervisor position which enabled me to travel.
I visited the different regions of Louisiana with covered expenses that included: hotel, food, and
travel. To my surprise an unexpected turn of events was about to take place. First Transit, the job of
my dreams, abruptly came to an end. I did not know that the company I worked for was actually
contracted through The Department of Health and Hospitals. At the time of renewal First Transit lost
their bid for a new contract, as a result, my coworkers and I were left unemployed. I was unemployed

  • 2. The Three Branches Of Congress The United States government is comprised of three branches; executive, legislative and judicial. Of these branches it is said that the President, under the executive branch, has the most power. Congress as part of the legislative branch, however according to the text, American Government Institutions and Policies by James Wilson, John Dilulio, and Meena Bose, to the Framers of the Constitution, the bicameral (two chamber) Congress was the first branch. They expected Congress to wield most of the national government s powers...and [have] the ultimate authority to declare war (p. 303). However, as we know the commander in chief (the President) has the authority to declare war, and can be considered as the central figure in American politics . Coincidentally, the relationship between Congress and the President, expected by the Framers of the Constitution, is seemingly different than what they originally had in mind. The dynamic of both entities have shifted over the years; especially in reference to how the legislative branch operates. Most contemporary Americans and many experts, however, think of Congress not as the first branch but as the broken branch, unable to address the nation s most pressing domestic, economic, and international problems in an effective way; unduly responsive to powerful organized special interests; awash in nonstop campaign fundraising and other activities that many believe border on political corruption; and unlikely to fix itself through real reforms (p.303). The power and authority of the United States governmental branches has shifted since the creation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Sexual Education And Sex Education The purpose of this paper is to explain the importance of sexual education and describe differences and similarities in some of the research done on this topic. Having sexual education available to youth is the key in reducing the number of unwanted situations in the sexual health of the individuals. Teaching adolescents about sex is beneficial because they become aware of consequence that might follow specific actions. This is a chance to ensure adolescents take safer routes when deciding to become sexually active. Youth sexual education has been correlated with preventing unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Many schools have sexual education programs but many teenage pregnancies that are unplanned and STIs are occurring. One reason could be because very few of these sexual education programs are attending to the traditional social norms around sexuality and gender. It is important to consider and focus on the traditional social norms because findings in previous studies have found those that hold traditional social beliefs around gender and sexuality, are at greater risks of negative sexual health consequences. Adolescents should be given the opportunity to receive the proper sexual education in order to eliminate negative sexual health consequences. Researchers have found that individuals in sexual education programs that address traditional social norms and the effects of these beliefs, are less likely to agree with hegemonic masculinity ... • 4. ##arison Of Down By The Sally Gardens And The Lake Isle Of... William Butler Yeats is considered to be one of the notable poets of Irish literature and had a major role in Irish politics. One can notice the slow shift from the English style of romanticism to serious political messages in his poems. A lot of his early works had a lot of motifs and imagery of nature. I want to examine two of these poems, Down by the Sally Gardens and The Lake Isle of Innisfree, the way these poems are designed are somewhat similar, but may have contrasting meanings and may have different contexts. Down by the Sally Gardens and The Lake Isle of Innisfree both are nature poems, which means, they use natural aesthetic to describe human emotions. Both of them are early works of W.B. Yeats. These poems, unlike, Easter 1916 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yeats is starting to talk more about the beauty of Ireland. He is not getting fully political, but he is definitely more patriotic and is proud to call Innisfree his land. A bit of the poem is like an incantation. I shall arise and go now, and go to Innisfree (1); And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made: Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honey bee (2 3) While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey, (The Lake Isle of Innisfree, 11) There is a lot of description to nature in Innisfree, like, veils of the morning , midnight s glimmer , noon a purple glow , a place that W.B. Yeats is mentioning in this poem. He is missing the nature, the feeling of that place that he considers his homeland. With reference to line 11 and 12, it may be because he is in a highly urbanized place, he wants to go back to his Innisfree where everything was perfect and beautiful. Unlike Down by the Sally Gardens where he uses nature to describe human emotions of struggle, in The Lake Isle of Innisfree, he believes he will be at peace over there, And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow, (5) This poem has a tone of an incantation and he uses nature to romanticize the country he loves. It may also be that the poet is giving Ireland it s own anthem. That can be shown in the last stanza of the poem, I hear it in the deep heart s core. (12) This line sort of is like he is being called from Ireland and the Irish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Waves Zone And The Mid Tide Zone As the Cellana denticulata is distributed in the upper lower intertidal zone and the mid tide zone it must be able to withstand the upper lower intertidal zone and the mid tide zone as the rocky shore experiences tidal fluctuations (abiotic factor) that occurs in a regular pattern in which the beach has submerged areas and desiccated areas (the niche of the Cellana denticulata) this is an abiotic factor that affects their survival. Tidal fluctuations are when the tide (sea) comes in and submerges areas of the rocky shore while others are exposed. The tide ranges in vertical differences along the rocky shore; from high tide, mid tide to low tide this is called zonation. These are the tides that fluctuate in a regular pattern along the rocky shore and this is mainly due to the gravitation pull of the moon. However the sun also affects the tides but has less gravitational force as the sun is further away from earth. The gravitational pull of the moon is the main cause for tidal fluctuations as the moon has a stronger gravitational pull as it is closer to the earth than the sun, hence the main cause for tidal fluctuations as the gravitational pull from the moon exerted onto earth is greater than the earth. Because the earth is in constant motion of rotation the earth and the moon become closer in distance as the earth is not perfectly round and has uneven surfaces. These uneven surfaces or areas of the earth are closer in distance to the moon and therefore the gravitational pull ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Causes And Consequences Of The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was a huge turning point in history at which the development of industry began in England in the 18th century. It introduced machinery to the world. The industrial revolution was characterized by hand production to new machine manufacturing, the increased use of steam power, the rise of the factory system and development of machine tools. As time passed by, the technological innovations continued to shape the modern world, Everything that everybody uses throughout their daily lives is due to manufacturing. How would people ever have been able to put a man on the moon or get to travel from New York to Paris without the things that came from the Industrial Revolution? Of course, the consequences of the industrial revolution were brutal, but for the most part there were solutions to those consequences, that changed the world for the greater good. The benefits of the industrial revolution outweigh the costs because it led to the creation of unions, and the technological innovations from the industrial revolution helped change the lifestyle of many people. Some will say that the benefits of the industrial revolution do not outweigh the cost because child labor was terrible, and many workers were working in horrible condition at low wages for long hours. When the industrial revolution began, the rise of the factory system was high. But there were no rules of how a factory should be run, considering it was a capitalist economy. In a capitalist ... David Kolb s experiential learning model (1984) one of the most commonly used models of learning styles defines four stages in the learning cycle: concrete experience, observation and reflection, the formation of abstract concepts and testing in new situations. Experiential learning increases our reserve of reliable experiences that can help us adapt to any challenging situation we come across. When attempting to learn through experience, we first have to have a concrete experience of a scale such that it is brief enough to be analyzed in detail, contains enough detail to draw learning from and has meaning for the group analyzing it. In an OMD, concrete experience is provided through training exercises, outdoor adventure activities and team building games. Processing experiential learning activities through group discussions and debriefing sessions help learn from even seemingly mundane events. Dainty and Lucas (1992) suggest that ...the outdoors provides one of the most powerful mediums for the development of self and other awareness . The rationale offered is that; An individual s behavior is often clearly visible during outdoor development programmes. It is impossible to hide behind organizational and educational norms in an environment where these no longer exist . Similar arguments are propounded by Long and Galagan (1984, 1987). Thus, the principle is that the outdoors provide activities and/or environments devoid of traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Theme Of Courage In Beowulf In the epic poem, Beowulf, the main character, Beowulf, can be seen as one of the most prime and pure examples of an epic hero due to his almighty courage. What is an epic hero without courage? Well, not a epic hero at all. Beowulf has the superhuman strength, glory and fame, but he cannot embody those characteristics if he does not have courage to drive him primarily. Initially, the reader can get a taste of Beowulf epicness when he heavily boasts about his battle at sea with Breca. Due to jealousy, Unferth calls him out for his loss in the thrashing waves, yet Beowulf shows no embarrassment and even exploits Unferth for his lack of braveness as he claims, The fact is, Unferth, if you were truly as keen and courageous as you claim to be, Grendel would never have gotten away with such unchecked atrocity, attacks on your king, havoc in Heorot and horror everywhere (Heaney 590 594). He makes it clear that no one can deteriorate or match the courage that he beholds. While he the battle is brought up, Beowulf states that Often, for undaunted courage, fate spares a man that it has not already marked (572 573). This is inferring that if one hasn t died yet due to fate, they can continue living their life through courage. This foreshadows the mindset of Beowulf and how he holds the theory of bravery close in his morals. As Beowulf goes on to explain this rigorous battle, he claims that not only did he swim for seven days in full armor, but also nonchalantly slayed nine sea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the King James Bible, metaphors are used to provide examples of God s teachings, to help the audience obtain a better understanding of the text, and to evoke readers into remembering the wise expressions displayed. • 10. No Tolerance For A Lack Of Maternity Leave Zero Tolerance For A Lack Of Maternity Leave Whenever we hear a story on the news of a woman or her family struggling because they re being refused maternity leave it breaks our hearts. These women, expecting mothers, have to carry or have carried a child for roughly 9 months. Most if not all have done so by being on their feet all day and have only had the required minimum for breaks. Is it then wrong to ask for maternity leave? Should pregnant women not be allowed some work accommodations? Well, contrary to popular belief, maternity leave is more than just a time for a woman s gestation period or relaxation. In a country with a population of more than 308 million women I think maternity should be a right. So, then who is to blame for the lack of maternity leave? The answer: male bosses. It s thanks to these bosses that once women are mothers, they have to go back to work as soon as possible. All these new mothers are told by their male bosses that they are expected back as soon as they can. These men allow little to no maternity leave for women in the work force. And I think we can all agree that this is a serious issue for our nation. There must be a solution to this detrimental illness afflicting our country. Which is why I have proposed a solution that will benefit not only women but our whole nation. If male bosses are forced to wear maternity belts they will feel sympathetic to the struggles of pregnant women. They in turn will be motivated to give paid maternity ... • 11. Analysis Of George Eliot s Adam Bede In George Eliot s Adam Bede we witness an illustration of the discussion between not only crime, but morality, values, and extraordinarily, beauty as well. The so called universal ideal of femininity is, according to our novelist s own interpretation, being interrogated sternly. Unfortunately, what we find in Eliot s own interrogation method of these structures is just another, albeit different, version of Liberal Humanism with its own stereotypes, judgement calls, and unfair half treatments of women, their bodies, and their interiorities. While Eliot provides us female characters, Dinah and Hetty, as guideposts to understand women s autonomy of decision, we are still given stale caricatures of saintly self sacrifice and vain, illogical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dinah, or selfless saint, spends her time focused on the mores of the world, of the sake of the souls of people, and not on her own comfort or path. While Eliot branches out in making Dinah a Methodist Minister, she still lives into the feminine standards. Dinah pushes without pushing too hard and always seeks the betterment of others. Whereas Hetty, after she met her lover in the woods, rebuked Dinah s attempts to help her and returned to the woods shortly there after in a state of consciousness that was fragmented and confused, Dinah returned to her bedchamber and and threw herself on her knees, and poured out in deep silence all the passionate pity that filled her heart for Hetty. Hetty, however, cannot be bothered by the concerns, desires, and vulnerabilities which exist in the other. Eliot curated Hetty to serve as the counterpoint of to the values Eliot promotes, and while she does some interesting things with how Hetty is observed by others (which shall not currently be discussed), Hetty is still representative and modelled in the stereotypical style of the vain woman willing to forgo duties and her own honor in hopes of attaining higher position and so called fineries. When Hetty encounters another character she doesn t look into engaging with their needs or wants, but rather reacts to them based merely off of her own needs. • 12. My Dorm Room At The Pennsylvania State University Staying cool is something we all strive to do when it is too hot, and vice versa when it is too cold. Being to hot or too cold is an extreme nuisance in every day lives, but I d much rather be too cold than too hot. It is quite simple to keep warm: either put on more layers of clothing or wrap yourself in a blanket. To keep cool is another story; one could strip off layers of clothes until they are naked and have no more layers to go, then they resort to a fan, which in turn is just blowing more hot air at them. Coming to The Pennsylvania State University I was excited to learn, meet new people and have fun, and I have been able to do most of those, however, it is sometimes difficult with the scalding oven that is my dorm room. To help fix the problem that my fellow students and I are experiencing, I propose that the university either install central air conditioning in all dorms, or, barring that, install air conditioning units in dorm rooms, in order to allow students to get more sleep, better grades, and have an overall better and healthier college experience. Sleeping for as long as you want! Sounds like paradise, but it is quite unrealistic. Instead I would ask to sleep for as long as I could until my alarm wakes me up for class. That should not be too much to ask for, nonetheless, it takes great effort on my part to do the actual sleeping. It is hard enough to go to bed with thoughts of grades and of life little stresses in general, but is remarkably difficult when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were a tripping hazard and a fire hazard, as the material is flammable. The workers were also fined for the damaged piece and sometimes, the entire yard of fabric. The work hours were long, generally from seven in the morning until six at night. Usually people would come in to work on the weekends also. If people stayed past dark, they had to use gaslight to light the rooms. This was also considered another fire hazard. I spent countless hours reading the information in the curriculum handbook and even collaborating with other teachers just to understand the material properly. I was thoroughly surprised at how well the lesson was received and it greatly boosted my self confidence in my planning and teaching decisions. This lesson was all about symmetry and dividing crazy cakes evenly between two people by looking for smaller shapes within the larger shape. The shapes of the cakes literally were crazy because they were not shaped like your normal cake. There were many different angles and sides, because of this each student had to really sit and visualize what other shapes were inside the cake. I feel that my instruction methods worked great for this lesson. I followed the plan given to me by the curriculum book by talking about the activity first then letting the students work together in groups to divide the cakes as best as possible. I thought it would be beneficial to let students come up to the board and practice with dividing the cakes before letting them work with their groups. I think that by allowing a few of them to show their initial thought process allowed others to see how they could divide their cakes as well. I then gave direct instructions on how we were to transition to our tables and begin working on their crazy cakes. The classroom has been struggling lately with transitions, so I was very ... Is it learned by experience, or inherited from prior generations? The human brain is a complex machine driven by numerous intangibles that influence our thinking process directly and indirectly. The endocrine system in the human body stores a chemical known as hormones. Hormones are released by endocrine glands into the bloodstream and travel throughout the body carrying messages. A hormonal impulse is similar to a nerve impulse only much slower. The messages carried by the hormones trigger different behaviors. Hormones can affect behavior in many ways such as: Mental activity or tiredness, boredom or excitement, sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both glands produce two distinct hormones, but produce differing amounts of each hormone. Masculine hormones such as androgens and testosterone are predominately produced by male testes. These hormones at high levels can be related to aggressive behavior regardless of sex, but high levels are most commonly found in males. High levels of feminine hormones or estrogen, most commonly found in females, have recently been linked to aggressive behavior as well. While high levels of estrogen in females and high levels of testosterone in males have been linked to aggressive behavior, normal levels of these hormones have been known to cause aggression as well. Although these hormones have been related to human behavior, scientists have concluded that these hormones alone do not dictate behavior (Morris Maisto, 2005). Adrenal glands, located near the kidneys, secrete several hormones that are activated by the nervous system. These hormones dictate the body s reaction to stressful situations. Each person secretes a different amount of hormones, therefore affecting behavior in stressful situations differently (Morris Maisto, 2005). Behavior is party affected by human hormones present in the body built from genetic traits inherited from the individual s parents. The genetic makeup of an individual combined with a certain environment, can affect behavior. Genetics is the science of analyzing traits inherited through generations. The Economic Origins of the French Revolution The inflated opinion the French monarchy had about themselves and other nobles lent itself to how they contributed to and handled the economic downturn in France for centuries prior to the French Revolution. Forming the foundation of many of France s financial issues, the monarchial system granted royals and the nobles who surrounded them the ability to feel as if they are intended to be superior to the rest of France, a mentality that would last until the French Revolution began. With this monarchial system, each king of France from 1610 to 1789 would contribute in both positive and negative ways, depending greatly on the Chief Ministers they appointed. Due to his lack of interest in such developments, Mazarin encouraged the appointment of Nicolas Fouquet as Superintendent of Finances, however, King Louis XIV eventually imprisoned Fouquet after eight years in the position. His imprisonment is relatively ironic, as it was a punishment for Fouquet s overt extravagance, which would be an issue that plagued Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI until the French Revolution. Four years following Mazarin s death and Fouquet s imprisonment in 1661, Jean Baptiste Colbert assumed the position of Minister of Finances under Louis XIV. • 22. Invertebrate Biodiversity Comparison of invertebrate biodiversity in vegetated and open water areas of an urban lake INTRODUCTION Interrelationships and interdependence between species in biological communities plays a major role in the survival of ecosystems (Hafernik, 1992). Biodiversity refers to the variety of life forms and species biodiversity relates to the varieties of species in a particular habitat (Flinders University, 2015). The greater the biodiversity in a habitat, the more complex are the interactions between species and the higher the productivity of the ecosystem (Long, et al., 2007). This experiment looked at the biodiversity of invertebrates in vegetated and open water areas of a freshwater system and the Simpson s Diversity Indices were used as mathematical indicator of the invertebrate species diversity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The standard deviation was approximately the same for both habitats, which indicates that the variation in the data was the same. A higher value of Simpson s index of diversity also indicates higher diversity in the vegetated habitat. From figure 1 it can be seen that open water area of the north side of Flinders University Lakes was more populated with a high number or organisms present than the vegetated area. An autonomous vehicle is a mode of transportation that does not need a person driving it. Cisco s Smart Connected Vehicles division has a hypothesis which states that autonomous cars could eliminate as 85 percent of head on collisions. One of the greatest problems that smart cars face is getting people to trust them. In a study conducted by Carlnsur, it found that 80 percent of people would not purchase a self driving car if they had the option, citing their main reason of opposition as a lack of trust in the computer to get them to their destination safely (Young). Furthermore, because the cars will be able to communicate with each other Cisco believes that the traffic would be lighter and therefore save drivers time spent in traffic. Henceforth, by cars spending less time in traffic there will be less carbon released into the air and fuel costs will decrease, which will lead to a more sustainable environment. RANDOM GRAPH MODELS A random graph is obtained by starting with a set of n isolated vertices and adding successive edges between them at random [8]. 1. Erdos Renyi (ER) random graph model It is a random graph with n vertices where every edge has equal probability p of existing. This graph model has a constant and independent probability of two nodes being connected. 2. Barabasi Albert (BA) preferential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Closeness centrality of a node is the reciprocal of the sum of its distances to all other nodes. c. CLUSTERING COEFFICIENT The degree to which nodes in a graph tend to cluster together in tightly knit groups is given by the clustering coefficient. d. AVERAGE PATH LENGTH It is defined as the average number of steps along the shortest paths for all possible pairs of network nodes. It is a measure of the efficiency of information transfer on a network. Most real networks have a very short average path length leading to the concept of a small world where each one is connected to the other through a short path. e. DEGREE DISTRIBUTION The degree distribution of a network P(k) is defined to be the fraction of nodes in the network with degree k. Degree distribution depicts the difference in the degree of connectivity between all the nodes in a network. It gives the probability distribution of the node degrees over the network. IV. EXPERIMENTAL SETUP In order to generate the random graph models, the NetworkX module [11] present in Python3 has been used in Spyder (Scientific Python Development Environment) in Windows10 64 bit Operating System, having an Intel®Core™i3 5015U (2.10GHz) processor and a 4 GB RAM capacity. The Facebook dataset [12] was present in the form of an edgelist. The dataset was read and its corresponding graph was generated, which serves as the original network representation. • 38. First Transit Job Analysis I thought that I had found the job of my dreams, and possibly my career. A job where everything was perfect and I progressed quickly, but an unexpected turn of events quickly proved me wrong. I went from having an awesome office job to being unemployed; however, having to find a new start proved to be more beneficial than I expected. My first job at First Transit was everything I wanted and more. For starters, it was located in my home town of Church Point, and the pay was above average for the area. The ideal nine to five schedule was also a plus. As a customer service representative I was doing what I loved, helping people. I quickly moved up to a supervisor position which enabled me to travel. I visited the different regions of Louisiana with covered expenses that included: hotel, food, and travel. To my surprise an unexpected turn of events was about to take place. First Transit, the job of my dreams, abruptly came to an end. I did not know that the company I worked for was actually contracted through The Department of Health and Hospitals. At the time of renewal First Transit lost their bid for a new contract, as a result, my coworkers and I were left unemployed. I was unemployed for about six months before I found work, and that was a very depressing time for me. I felt as though I had failed; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was informed that with having only a high school education, I could apply for substitute teaching. Also, I had to successfully pass their pre employment test. I scheduled the exam and past! Immediately, I was placed on the substitute list and began working. I was relieved that I had found employment but needed more stability. My sister, a Head Start teacher, informed me of an opening through her job as an aid for special needs children. I applied and was interviewed quickly being that I was already employed through the school board. I was hired and began working as a full time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
