Importance Of Being Earnest By Oscar Wilde
The play Importance of Being Earnest written by Oscar Wilde is an excellent representative of the
comedy of manners. Typical, for Oscar s style, there is always something hiding behind character than
what the readers suppose. In the play women are very responsible for development of the action. I will
provide the portrayal of Lady Bracknell, Gwendolen and Miss Prism. A way how Wilde mocks
Victorian society and its values and also brings up diverting questions about gender roles, where
women are dominant over men and brings the resolution of Jack s identity.
In the past, very seldom did women have influence in Victorian literature, but in this play is opposite
and that gives speciality to the play. Some of the earliest workers for women s ... Show more content

in the play. Lady Bracknell s decision about suitability is the main conflict of the play, Gwendolen s

dreams will not be achieved and the one who revealed Jack s

Jack Mandala Quotes
Character Mandala Jack s Introduction: Jack craves power from the beginning of the novel when he is
not elected as chief and finally gets it when he gains control of the savages. Jack becomes the leader
of the savages and slips further and further away from civilization by the day, as he kills pigs for
pleasure and even kills some of the boys. Jack has a very aggressive personality and is ugly and
gangly. *I put brown and green together because they represent the same thing Brown and green The
brown and green represent Jack s mask. Golding uses the mask to represent savagery and human
nature, showing how Jack was consumed by his barbaric instincts. Similarly, I placed the brown and
green on the outside to illustrate how the mask consumes him. Furthermore, Jack uses the mask to
¨hid(e behind), liberated from shame and self consciousness...¨(Golding 64). Finally, these colors
relate to the one of the themes of the book, humans savage instincts will come out when rules are
removed, because Jack puts on the hunting paint and he lets in prevail and consume him. Red ... Show

For example, Jack yells ¨shut up, Fatty...¨ when Piggy makes a simply remark(Golding 21). This quote
shows off Jack s aggressive nature, as he creates an altercation when there was no problem.
Furthermore, this quote foreshadows about Jack s personality later in the book, as he is always looking
for a reason to get angry at either Piggy or Ralph. Lastly, this color choice correlates to the theme,
humans generally try to create conflicts even when one is not necessary, as Jack tries to create
altercations due to his fiery

Writing Style Reflection
In my first semester of college at Saint Leo University, seeing that I had to take and academic writing
class gave me chills. After taking high school English classes where you are constantly writing for a
grade and to please the teacher s idea of what good writing is, I couldn t help being concerned about
what a college level writing class was going to be like. Teachers in high school were constantly trying
to tell you how to write their way and perfect what they thought was good writing. Little did I know
everyone s writing style is good in its own way. This academic writing class proved to me that no
writing style is right or wrong, but instead all writing styles have their own uniqueness and character
to them. After reading the assigned articles and analyzing the writing process and other topics
discussed in this class, I now see writing as an extraordinary process that is different for everyone.
After writing papers and getting feedback, I saw where my writing lacked solid evidence in my
rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain ways I can write more efficiently in my process
analysis paper. I also learned how discourse communities functioned and how genre is something
completely different than what our K 12 teachers have taught me for so long. The goal of this class
was to help me; see writing as a process, adapt my ideation, revision and products to improve my
writing, and develop my critical reading, writing, and thinking skills. I believe I have achieved

Rascal Flatt s Song Analysis
Most parents now in today s society want better for their children, and want nothing to harm or come
interfere with their paths. Flatts expresses this in his song, And if you re faced with a choice, and you
have to choose, I hope you choose the one that means the most to you. A report done by Andres
Bendesky and Young mi Kwon found from their results that variation in an ancient neuropeptide
contributes to differences in parental care (Bendesky Andres, Kwon mi Young 2016). As a young child
we obviously want to feel loved and protected especially when things aren t going our way, we need
that person to always rely on. Rascal Flatts ensures that no matter what path his daughter chooses he
will be there as her role model to lead the way her heart desires to go. This correlates to more of an
indirect care towards his daughter, because Flatts will protect her on her journey being the role model
he wants her to also become. On the other hand, it could also relate to direct care if he was physically
helping her on the way, showing her what she should do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rascal Flatts makes it clear that he will support the path his daughter has chosen and will continue to

This Biography is on the life of Theodore Roosevelt. Beginning with his childhood, and ending with
his death. Describing in detail his early childhood, the author gives a good explanation of what
motivated the future President in his later years. The book also gives good insight into many of
Roosevelt s decisions during his adult years and political career, along with information from his
personal life, that many people may not have known. Theodore Roosevelt also known as Teddy
Roosevelt, or Teedie, was born in New York City on October 27th, 1856, to Martha and Theodore Sr.

Food Stamp Program Thesis
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as the Food Stamp program, was
established as a safety net against hunger and malnutrition for low income Americans and their
families. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance programs help millions of families, seniors, people with
disabilities, and low wage working Americans afford access to enough food. Food stamps was first
introduced to the American public as a pilot program during the Great Depression in the 1930s. Mabel
McFadden of Rochester, NY was the first food stamp recipient. She paid four dollars and received six
dollars worth of stamps in return.
An orange stamp could buy any food, while a blue stamp was good for only what the Department of
Agriculture deemed to be in surplus. That program lasted through the early 1940s. Food stamps were
revived in the 1960s as part of the war on poverty, but Americans still had to pay for their stamp
coupons. For the poorest, that was a hardship. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today s program benefits over 40 million Americans every month, more than half for children. Paper
coupons have been replaced by debit like EBT cards. The program is also a key support for working
families. Food stamps has eliminated the severe hunger and malnutrition that occurred in the 1960s,
yet in the United States today, 15.6 million households are estimated to be food insecure. 40 percent of
those eligible for food stamps miss out on benefits. Many do not know they are eligible, others find
the process too difficult. Even those on food stamps benefits can run out before the end of the month,
creating tough choice about whether to buy food or pay bills. Charities and churches provide some
help but cannot fill the growing need. The food stamp program has a rich history in helping the nation
s poor and it continues to be the nation s first line of defense against

The Proteins Of Carbohydrates And Carbohydrates
Introduction
Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids are organic molecules found in every living
organism. These macromolecules are large carbon based structures. The macromolecules are
assembled by joining several smaller units, called monomers, together through a chemical reaction
called dehydration synthesis. The resulting polymer can be disassembled through the complementary
process called hydrolysis.Carbohydrates are made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms in a 1:2:1
ratio. This means that for every carbon atom present in the carbohydrate there are two hydrogen atoms
and one oxygen atom present. The monomers for carbohydrates are referred to as monosaccharides.
When many monosaccharides are chained together the resulting molecule is called a polysaccharide.
Carbohydrates are used by living organisms as an important source of energy. Examples of
carbohydrates include glucose, fructose, sucrose, galactose, ribose, deoxyribose, cellulose and
chitin.Lipids are also made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen but the ratio of carbon, hydrogen, and
oxygen is not 1:2:1. Instead, lipids have a much higher number of carbons and hydrogens with few
oxygen atoms present. The nonpolar bonds that form between the carbon and hydrogen atoms of a
lipid cause them to be hydrophobic, or water repellent, molecules. This explains why water and oil do
not mix. The large number of carbon to hydrogen bonds also serves to make lipids energy rich storage
molecules. One gram of lipid stores

Persuasive Essay On Texas
This is America. We re entitled to our opinions. Wrong. This is Texas. And my opinion is the only
want that matters (Susan Elizabeth Phillips). Oh, how this quote is so accurate. Texans believe that
what they say is always right no matter what. You can t talk bad about a true Texans. I remember my
first day is Texas like it was just yesterday. People used to say how everything is bigger in Texas, and
they weren t lying. Just the drive seemed like it was never going to end. I remember thinking about
only seeing open road and people riding on horses everywhere in cowboy boots and hats. Too bad that
wasn t true, well not the riding around on horses and everybody in cowboy boots and hats. All I saw
was trees all around me and gigantic hills that you couldn t see anything over. Although, it seemed like
it was never going to end; there was some good things about my drive. Just to see how Texas took
pride in their state and the beautiful scenery. I remember when I first saw don t mess with Texas sign
and thought to myself, Wow they are really serious. The monuments and statues of past Texans stood
tall and how you can drive on the median to take pictures with the Texas signs. So, in all it wasn t that
bad.
Texans are cool, unless you re talking about their football team. Texans take pride in football like no
other state. They would ride or die for them; win or lose. Now, I m from Louisiana and I love my city,
but I grew love for Texas. I may not be native but I can see the difference between the two states.
Texas is way bigger than what I was expecting and the traffic is a killer. You ll think that it would be
better because they have more highways and more lanes, but it s not. Texans cannot drive and believe
that they own the whole road with their humongous trucks. So, I had to learn how to drive like a
Texans.
Texans a truly country and they love them some country music. Their accent is like no other. When
you hear a Texan talk, you must stop and think what they mean. You begin to question your sanity
when you talk to a Texans. I didn t know if I should be insulted or appreciated about what they said.

Essay The Mexican Maquiladoras
The Mexican Maquiladoras
As a major contributor to the global economy, Mexico s sweatshops have contributed to the United
States wealth and economic growth. It is the unfortunate truth that many individual workers have
suffered as a result of this prosperity. The sweatshops, known as maquiladoras, are in debate because
of the ethical and lawful reasoning behind their existence and conditions. How can we, as a First
world nation, allow such industries to exist where people are denied basic and fundamental human
rights? What, if any, laws and regulations are put into place for the maquiladoras? Are these laws and
regulations hindering, harmful, or helpful? Are they enforced emphatically? If not, how does this
affect development? After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I do not think that it is difficult for the companies that relocate to Mexico to understand
what they are doing; in essence, they relocate these transnational corporations to Mexico in order to
save money and make more profits. It is also difficult for Western women to identify themselves
outside the consumer identity; therefore, as Mies and Shiva have established the importance of finding
common ground , it is difficult for many women to obtain this. Often, Western women cannot find any
relation between themselves and the women of Third World countries. In their book Ecofeminism,
Mies and Shiva establish the difficulties associated within the search, or lack of a search, for common
ground between First World and Third World women. Some women, however, particularly urban,
middle class women, find it difficult to perceive commonality...between themselves and different
women in the world....the one always considered superior, always thriving, and progressing at the
expense of the other. (Mies and Shiva, p.5) Therefore, as Mies and Shiva have underlined, it is
difficult for many women to see their own ties and connections to recognize the producer vs.
consumer relationship, and as a result, the exploitation of other countries. A feminist s response to the
United States role in the creation of the free trade zones and the maquiladoras is as follows.

The Advantages And Dilemmas Of Child Care For Children
Tamai Butler
Coach Beale
Senior Capstone
March , 9 , 2018 One of the biggest decisions parents have to make after choosing to have a child
involves deciding who will care for that child, especially during the early developmental years.
Parents choose to resolve this difficult dilemma in many ways. Some families choose to use full time
childcare, while in other families one parent stays or works at home for all or part of the time. In other
families, a parent chooses to leave the workforce completely in order to become the primary caregiver.
Finding appropriate and affordable child care is often a challenge. There are different options available
in different places, and at many different price points although all options are expensive. Each care
option comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. It can be confusing ... Show more content

Nonetheless, my parents friends would routinely leave their children under my care when we got
together with other families for play dates and tea parties they obviously saw something in me that I
grew aware of more strongly as I got older. If I was always naturally going to gravitate into a role
which involved caring for children, I get huge satisfaction from working with people in general, old or
young. As much as my current role is to do with how much I love to care for children, there are other
important aspects involved in my career path. It is not just communicating well with children that is a
vital skill but also how you communicate with the people that are most important to that child. As a
nanny you learn skills which enable you to help children to develop into happy, healthy little people.

Enkidu Relationship
The character Enkidu also shows a positive side of mortality. His rites of passage to society can be
seen as a positive note to mortality, as it highlights the amenities of life. For example, his introduction
to Shamhat and the enjoyment of sex for six nights in a row can be seen as positive amenity to
humanity. This can be seen as a compare and contrast to his former animal state, where the wild beasts
of the steppe shunned his person (I 189). The shunning is most likely due to the animals not
understanding his sexual desires, as animals only mate for procreation. Moreover, the established
relationship that Enkidu has with the gods can be seen as positive, mostly because he would not have
had a deeper relationship with them in his wild state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Enkidu is downs because he is near his deathbed, for example, the voice of Shamhat from the
sky states, Who fed you bread, fit for a god / Who poured you beer, fit for a king (VII. 90 91). This
indicates a highlight of mortality and being a human, as when you are in an animal state there is no
such thing as food for enjoyment. In addition, when Gilgamesh is in search for mortality, the tavern
keeper highlights some positive notes of humanity, stating Gilgamesh, let your stomach be full /
Always be happy, night and day (X. 73 74). We can see that the poem consistently puts emphasis on
the fundamentals of life, and the dictates a more optimistic view of life. Additionally, the concept of
death is illustrated in the positive note towards humanity. As noted by Shamhat, she states towards
Enkidu that won t [Gilgamesh] lay you down in the ultimate resting place? (VII. 95) and [the] rulers of
the netherworld will do you homage (VII. 98). This thought by Shamhat leads towards a more

Guns Control Laws In Australia s Gun Control
Australia s gun control laws need to change in order to protect innocent civilians from the increasing
resurgence of illegal firearms. The system is riddled with loopholes that enable illegal guns to be
trafficked from overseas countries. The main issue is that there is a rising increase in illegal firearms
and whether Australia s current laws are enough to combat the ongoing problem. There are problems
in the system were illegal guns manage to get through customs due to loopholes in the system. The
legislation, cases, stakeholders and recommendation regarding the change in gun laws to prevent
illegal firearms will be discussed.
Gun control is defined as the set of laws or policies that maintain regulation of the manufacture, sale,

Charcoal Grey for Professional Grade tools, this lack of color differentiation makes it difficult for
purchasers to determine which products are Professional and which are Consumer, which may have
facilitated the use of B amp;D consumer grade products to professional tasks, thus generating an
inordinate high rate of failure. Conversely, other manufacturers use higher color differentiation and
use colors such as teal (Makita), red (Milwaukee), or green (Hitachi) to differentiate the P T products
from the black/charcoal grey consumer products.
Research on Tradesmen s brand perceptions shows that DeWalt, a B amp;D brand associated with
industrial yellow has a 70% awareness rating and is ranked by 63% of those in the P T market to be
One of the Best , which is much more than the 44% of people in this market who think the same of the
B amp;D brand. Although the purchase interest in DeWalt is 51% compared to 58% of DeWalt

Despite all of this, B amp;D strongest rival, Makita, exhibits a few weaknesses that can be exploited
by B amp;D. Customers, in general, have been exposed to positive Makita interactions; retailers on the
other hand have had a different experience. Makita, in general, did not support all of their retailers as

The Nuremberg Code Of Ethical Principles For Human...
The Nuremberg Code of Ethics is in a sense a set of ethical researched principles for human
experimentation. The Nuremberg Code was created after the second World. This ethical code was
created based upon the human experimentations that the Axis Powers conducted during the war. The
code gives the principles against the methods used by the Nazis in their participation in human
experimentations. The Nuremberg Code stresses the general core of what is and what is not voluntary
consent and is in practice to prevent the abuse of humans as subjects. The Nuremberg Code is a 10
point statement that in short basically says that all participation in research must be voluntary. The
person involved should have the legal capacity to give consent, should be able to exercise free power
of choice and they should have the adequate knowledge and comprehension of all the subject matter
that is involved in the understanding of making the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, in my opinion makes perfect sense. It makes sense for they re to have consent in not only
voluntary medical studies, but with other decisions in everyday life. As humans, living where we do,
we have the right to our own bodies therefore, before anything, there needs to be consent. The
remaining codes also provide insight on what regulates voluntary consent, such as the following
principle stating that the results if the research must be for the good of society and inaccessible to any
other means. Also, the study must be based on the information provided by the results of animal
experimentation, natural history if the disease or any other circumstances to be studied. The next code
is that the experiment must avoid all unnecessary suffering. Next, the code states that the study cannot
include death or disabling injuries as a result. The

Abortion Report
Abortion Report
I have chosen for my topic Abortion. I think that it is a topic that is very important in today s society
however it is often dodged or avoided.
Different Presidents say different things and have different stances about it, and often it is had to know
what to think about it. Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes
the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only
her business. So basically they want it to remain legal. Then there is the other stance of Pro Life which
says that it should not remain legal and that it is just about as bad as cold blooded murder. I happen to
agree with this.
This is what I will be focusing on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them include:
Suction Abortion Dilation and Curettage (D C) Dilation and Evacuation (D E)
Salt Poisoning (Saline Injection) Hysterotomy Prostaglandin Abortion
There are also many risks and complications caused by having an abortion.
Some of the more widely known one s are:
1. Breast Cancer
2. Complications in future pregnancies, including excessive bleeding, premature delivery, cervical
damage, and sterility.
3. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
4. Uterine perforations.
5. Tubal pregnancy.
6. Placenta previa, which is extremely severe, life threatening bleeding in future pregnancies.
7. Retention of placenta
As you can see there are many different factors that contribute to abortion, and many different risks
that you take in having one. I think that abortion will remain a huge topic that s not going to go away
easily. I believe that they should be illegal however through doing this report I have been shown the
other side of the story, the Pro Choice side, and I have began to see there standpoint even though I

Comparative Analysis of Economic and Political Cleavages...
Comparative Analysis of Economic and Political Cleavages in South Africa and Zimbabwe
Introduction
Comparative politics is concerned with examining the characteristics or qualities of two different
political entities to discover resemblances or differences. These entities can be general in nature, for
example, the comparison of two countries, or more specific in nature, comparing two different
systems of government. But, whether general or specific in nature, comparative politics tries to
determine what caused the governments to form in the way that they did.
One way to do this is to look for the cleavages that affected each of the countries in question. A
cleavage is a split that occurs within a culture and can cause conflict ... Show more content on

This brief discussion will cover such areas as land reform and the impact of political decision making
on landowners and non landowners in a historically agrarian and ranked society and on race,
substandard housing, unemployment, and unequal allocation of funding for public health.
Land Reform
Historically, land reform programs in South Africa and Zimbabwe has been similar in some respects.
It is necessary to briefly review the history of each country in respect to this cleavage to better
understand current discontinuities and to note the clear differences in contemporary land reform that
are being implemented in the two countries.
Both South Africa and Zimbabwe were British colonies. All the land in these colonies was owned by
white Europeans and farmed by poor black Africans. In 1980, Rhodesia broke from the bondage of
white rule and elected its first black president, Robert Mugabe, who came with promises of restoration
of the land to native Africans, and of better health care and educational opportunities. The now
independent Rhodesia was renamed Zimbabwe in 1980.
But during the 1980 s, drought and white emigration badly damaged the economy, which already
strained by the need for massive government spending in the long neglected areas of black education,
health, and social services. The cleavages over land distribution, which continue today, present an
ongoing challenge to the government and an obstacle to agricultural development and will be

Examples Of Character Changes In Remember The Titans
Describe how a character changes in the film Remember the Titans Explain why this change occurs.
In the film Remember the titans which was directed by Boaz Yakin. I thought that Julius had changed
the most during the film and these changes occurred in these three points. One point is how Julius was
a very strong an opinionated person. The second point is Julius and Gerry finally confronted each
other about getting along and the last point is how coach Boone pushed Julius and Gerry to share the
captaincy roles to work hard together for the team to follow in example.
Julius was a very opinionated person, who was all about himself and not looking after his own team or
anyone else for that matter. For example when Julius was confronted by Gerry, during this
conversation Julius said I m supposed to wear out myself for this team? What team? Nope that s not
what I m going to do is I m going to look after myself. When this confrontation was happening there
were many close up camera shots, this was because the director wanted to show the emotion and anger
in the faces of Gerry and Julius. This shows that Julius is a very opinionated person and he only cares
about himself, this is shown in what he told Julius.

Conflict Between Cultural And Historical Norms
Women, whether in the western world or third world countries, are socialised in patriarchal societies
where misogyny is often internalised. As a result women often make choices, which reflect their
subordinate status to keep to the norm and stabilise themselves economically and socially. Women in
countries in sub Saharan Africa, South and East Asian areas, though in differing contexts face similar
struggles of subservience and manipulation. Women accommodate, resist or adapt to the sexist
oppressive system. Those who choose to bargain with the social constructs aim to enhance their
situation, giving them more power and to some extent freedom from ideological societies that
subjugate them.
Deniz Kandiyoti, s bargaining with patriarchy offers a complex but seemingly pertinent argument in
regards to the dichotomy between society and gender specific roles. Regarding their practices as fluid
and negotiable, where societies are the product of imposition that struggle between cultural and
historical norms. Within these systems of negotiation, Kandiyoti s juxtaposes agricultural labor and
classic patriarchy. Within Sub Saharan Africa gender relations tend to favor that of males, receiving
both credit and economic stability, however it is not just the men who contribute to the economy but
that of women. Patriarchal bargaining in Africa has resulted in women s resistance to men s absolutist
power over the access and value of their work. Kandiyoti sates women have very little

Management Control System Budgeting
Management Control System Budgeting
A control system is necessary in any organization in which the activities of different divisions,
departments, sections, and so on need to be coordinated and controlled. Most control systems are past
action oriented and consequently are inefficient or fail. For example, there is little an employee can do
today to correct the results of actions completed two weeks ago.
Steering controls, on the other hand, are future oriented and allow adjustments to be made to get back
on course before the control period ends. They therefore establish a more motivating climate for the
employee.

During this period, OPEC caused a fuel crisis and relatively few tourists could travel to Florida. The
hotel manager was penalized for failing to accomplish a standard over which, in this case, he had no

Finally managers should see that the number of standards assigned, like planning objectives, are
limited and placed in priority order for the employee. If there are too many controls assigned, the
employee will not be able to give enough attention to any of them and will become frustrated and
confused.
Management Planning and Control Systems
Step 2: Measure and compare actual with planned results
As with setting standards, the objectivity of the measurement and the person who measures and
compares the performance are important. Measuring and comparing can be accomplished by the
person performing the task, by the boss, or by a staff person; even an automated system can measure
and compare. From a behavioral standpoint, the last method is the least popular, followed by
measurement by a staff person only.
An employee believes an automated system, a staff person, or even the boss does not know enough
about the conditions of the job to make a fair comparison between actual and planned results.
Also, the employee often distrusts the staff person and sometimes even the boss. At the same time, the
employee is usually not trusted enough by the

Paula Anderson Case Study At School
While they enjoy many of the same personal rights and freedoms as other adults, teachers are held to a
high personal standard due to their interactions with children and the importance that they serve as
role models to their students. Unfortunately, there are instances in which teachers fall short of this
moral obligation. In this case study, Paula Gibson is an elementary school teacher who was arrested
for openly engaging in sexual behavior with two men at a club. The principal, Hank Doss, has
recommended her dismissal. In this fairly cut and dry case, Paula has little recourse to fight against the
termination of her employment.

defending schools ability to dismiss teachers for failing to uphold those standards. For the sake of
argument, imagine a scenario on which Gibson is acquitted of all charges and takes her case to court
in order to get her job back. Feasibly, a professional organization could assist her in her efforts as well.
Essex surmises, It is important to note that when criminal activity involving teachers does not result in
conviction, school boards may still bring charges against the teacher strictly for school related
purposes (Essex, 2016, p. 267). Essex also states, The school district may address the teachers
behavior from the standpoint of fitness to teach, irrespective of whether a conviction is sustained
through the courts, simply because the standard of proof is higher to sustain a conviction than it is to
dismiss a teacher (Essex, 2016, p. 267). Regardless of whether she was convicted or not, the courts
would assuredly agree with the school system that Gibson s termination was

How Does Jem Change In To Kill A Mockingbird
The maturation process of a person is shaped by several factors. Jem s growing maturity from the
beginning to the end of the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee shows how his character
changes as he becomes more aware of his surroundings. Jem is a 10 year old boy at the beginning of
the novel, showing childless behaviours and actions. The changes in his character is told through his
sister s, Scout, point of view who is 6 when the novel started. As a 10 year old boy, Jem is going
through a period of great change due to his biological clock which is a difficult time itself but he is
also exposed to the external influences in the adult world. Over the course of three short years, Jem
begins to see the world in a different way. Through many lessons from his father, Atticus, he gradually
understands the unjust logic of the world. Jem s character symbolises the idea of bravery and it

company has become the role model for management world wide.
Many different programs have been incorporated into the company that insures morale and

great benefits, all of which we go into detail later on.
How this culture came to be in the Lincoln Company begins with the founder s values and principles.

If it did control our acts, the savings in cost of distribution would be tremendous. Advertising would
be a contact of the expert consultant with the customer, in order to give the customer the best product
available when all of the customer s needs are considered. Competition then would be in improving
the quality of products and increasing efficiency in producing and distributing them; not in deception,
as is now too customary. Pricing would reflect efficiency of production; it would not be selling a
dodge that the customer may well be sorry he accepted. It would be proper for all concerned and
rewarding for the ability used in producing the product. (Lincoln, 1961)
It is said that early company values exert influence over future company values. This is true in the
case of Lincoln electric. As stated earlier, many programs have been incorporated into the business to
aid employees. The first year the advisory board was put into place, the work week went from 55 to 50

was created which still continues today. In 1918, a bonus plan was put into action on trial basis. It was

1919, Lincoln created the Employee Assocation to provide health benefits and social activities for
employees. By 1923, employees were given two weeks paid vacation

Galveston which is located on Galveston Island is a twenty nine mile strip of land estimated about two

Persuasive Essay On Having A Child
Growing up having kids is something that you simply assume would happen. It was never even a
question you always knew that one day you would be a parent and that having kids seemed like a
natural step in becoming an adult. Your thoughts are to meet someone, get married, and eventually
have children.Sometimes life doesn t work out that way. Many women have trouble conceiving
depending on age and how the body reacts to developing a child. Some people don t have to try to get
pregnant but others aren t so lucky they have to continue to try until your results come out positive, so

always trying to stay positive that this time will work. It s important to start the process of finding out

Many women feel hesitant to discuss their difficulties with conceiving and carrying babies to term,

The Role Of Traditional And Gestational Surrogacy
Surrogates are defined as a women who gestates a fetus for others, usually for a couple or another
woman. (Vaughn, 398) Surrogates have a few types of surrogacy, which are traditional and gestational
surrogacy. Traditional surrogacy is defined as the sperm from either the couple s male partner or a
donor is used to artificially inseminate the surrogate (the surrogate mother ). (Vaughn, 398) Then there
is Gestational surrogacy, which is defined as the surrogate receives a transferred embryo created
through IVF using the sperm and egg of others (the contracting couple of donors). Because the
gestational (also called the gestational carrier) does not contribute her own egg, she has no genetic
connection to the baby. (Vaughn, 398) In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Commodity comes into play with surrogacy because commodities are valuable because they are able
to provide enjoyment for the couple and one is able to put a price tag on them. In terms with
surrogacy, the surrogate mother is putting a price tag on her child and receives money for it for the
family that will be looking after the surrogate mother s child. That child will provide a sense of
happiness and turning that couple into a family. Vaughn states, For in this practice the natural mother
deliberately conceives a child with the intention of giving it up for material advantage. Her
renunciations of parental responsibilities is not done for the child s sake, nor for the sake of fulfilling
an interest she shares with the child, but typically for her own sake (and possibly, if altruism is a
motive, for the intended parents sakes). She and the couple who pay her to give up her parental rights
over her child thus treat her rights as a kind of property right. They thereby treat the child itself as a
kind of commodity, which may be properly bought and sold. (Vaughn, 473 474) This quote is evident
because parents seem to forget that children should always come first. Unfortunately with commodity,
a commodity has a lot to do with surrogacy. With surrogacy, this is where children have price tags and
that is why commodity exists in surrogacy.
Secondly, a surrogate mother provides a valued service

Theme Of Supernatural Elements In The Fall Of The House Of...
Supernatural elements is something that cannot be explained by the laws of nature. These elements,
such as religious figures and activities, ghosts, witches and anthropomorphized animals have been
used to develop themes throughout literature. These supernatural elements are often used to outline the
conflict within the plot and creates an atmosphere of mystery and suspense throughout the text, which
establishes the gothic. Supernatural components leave us to question what is real and what is our
imagination.
In the text The Fall of the House of Usher there are supernatural events throughout the short story.
From the rapidly decaying house that is quite literally connected to the main character Roderick
Usher, to the ghost of Roderick s twin sister Madeline. House of Usher an appellation which seemed
to include, in the minds of the peasantry who used it, both the family and the family mansion. This
line gives us a hint from the title toward the supernatural link between the physical house collapsing
and the metaphorical fall of the Usher Family. I believe Edgar Poe did this to evoke an uncanny
feeling in the reader and to add to the sublime of the short story. This link between living and
inanimate gives the story an extra gothic element. There was blood upon her white robes, and the
evidence of some bitter struggle upon every portion of her emaciated frame. For a moment she
remained trembling and reeling to and fro upon the threshold then, with a low moaning cry, fell
heavily inward upon the person of her brother, and in her violent and now final death agonies, bore
him to the floor a corpse, and a victim to the terrors he had anticipated. The supernatural element of
Madeline coming back from the dead or being a ghost creates conflict within the plot and therefore
leads to the inevitable fall of the Usher Family. I believe this ghostly figure struck fear into the reader
creating a suspenseful follow up, allowing the imagination to take off and picture this supernatural
occurrence. This was never an explained supernatural event. It was left up to the reader s imagination
and their assumption as to what is real and what is a figment of the characters imagination. There was

sparse in Ancient Egypt, so Egyptians relied on the Nile to irragate their crops. Egyptians needed a lot
of resources from the Nile to survive such as 1. People needed fresh water for drinking, bathing, and
cooking 2. The river was the water source for crop irrigation and 3. The Nile provided a highay for
travel and trade, and provided fish for eating and mud for brick making ( document A ). The Nile is

depended on river transport for marketing crops;goverment officals who depended on receiving grain
as tax payments, which in turn paid their salaries; stone cutters whose market was expanded by river
transport. The Nile was apparently the superhighway of Ancient Egypt. It enabled Egyptians to move
goods and people up or downriver. The Egyptian people could move crops from places of plenty to
places of famine, which kept the whole society going. The river transport also gave craftsmen a
chance
to sell beyond their local market. In short, the Nile made the beginnings of a national economy

( document C ). The Egyptian people praise the river to the Hymn to the Nile because it keeps the land

( able to produce food ), it floods the fields so that the animals will have the food they need to live, it
causes barley and wheat to grow, it allows for religious festivals ( in times of plenty ), and it makes the
people joyful. The famous Greek historian Herodotus once wrote that Egypt... is, so to speak, the

Summary Of The Book All Involved
First, Gattis displays the idea of how racism can plague a society to a terminus degree through the
initial case of Rodney King. All Involved is set in 1992, based on the incident of Rodney King, and
the rioting and uproar of Los Angeles that lasted for six days after. The book weaves multiple different
perspective of people with different views on the riots. Gang members, nurses, firefighters, the
homeless, etc., tell their story as they have seen it. Nonetheless, Rodney King was said to have been
pulled over by police after a high speed chase, when the police removed him from his car and brutally
beat him. Thereafter, a jury acquitted three white Los Angeles Police Department officers charged
with using excessive force to subdue King . The

Story Of An Hour Setting Essay
Uses of Setting in The Story of an Hour
Setting plays an extremely important role in all stories as a device to help create the situation
characters are in, but sometimes the setting itself tells a story. Within Kate Chopin s The Story of an
Hour the setting is used to not only reveal the feelings Louise Mallard has about her marriage, but also
Victorian era marriages as a whole. The Story of an Hour is a short story about a woman who was told
her husband was dead. People are expecting a reaction of grief from her, due to the fact that those
around her believe she is a perfect Victorian housewife. However, she can t help but feel the weight of
the world lifted off of her shoulders as her obligations to her marriage are finally coming to an end.
Through Kate Chopin s use of limited setting with Mrs. Mallard s room, the staircase, and the window
of this house, an idea of Victorian Era marriages is displayed.

Mallard feels, but also attempts to reveal wives view of marriage during the time period. The staircase
is where Victorian era norms were affecting Louise s reactions and displayed self. In the beginning of
this short story, after she hears about her husband s supposed death, Chopin writes, She wept at once,
with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister s arms (1). While Mrs. Mallard is on the staircase she
always keeps her true feelings to herself and shows a fake version which adheres to the norms that not
only her sister but also her husband s friend are expecting of her. This is shown later in the story when
it is revealed to the reader that she actually was not happy with her marriage and was excited to hear
of her husband s death. Chopin uses the staircase to represent a place where other s opinions affect
how women at the time acted, alluding to the societal norms of the Victorian

Stages in the Product Life Cycle
Stages in the Product Life Cycle Abstract This paper defines and discusses in depth the four stages in
the Product Life Cycle. Most successful products pass through these four stages which are
Introduction, Growth, Maturity and Decline and the following will help to distinguish the transition
between each stage while presenting their differing components. Additionally, it will display the
direction in which companies take when faced with being in each varying stage. An understanding of
the outcome of each stage and the development process of all of the four stages will be exposed in this
paper. Products are also utilized to show examples in their current stage. In closing, the paper will
express critic s opinions and information to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Profits arise due to an increase in output and possibly better prices. At this stage, it is cheaper for
businesses to invest in increasing their market share as well as enjoying the overall growth of the
market. Accordingly, significant promotional resources are traditionally invested in products that are
firmly in the Growth Stage (Anderson Zeithaml, 1984). The growth phase offers the satisfaction of
seeing the product take off in the marketplace. This is the appropriate timing to focus on increasing the
market share. If the product has been introduced first into the market then it is in a position to gain
market share relatively easily. A new growing market alerts the competition s attention. The company
must show all the products offerings and try to differentiate them from the competitors. A frequent
modification process of the product is an effective policy to discourage competitors from gaining
market share by copying or offering similar products. Other barriers are licenses and copyrights,
product complexity and low availability of product components (Product Life Cycle, 2011).
Promotion and advertising continues, but not in the extent that was in the introductory phase and it is
oriented to the task of market leadership and not in raising product awareness. This period is the time
to develop efficiencies and improve product availability and service. Cost efficiency, time to market,
pricing and discount policy are major

Contradicting Climate Change
unwarranted doubt contradicting the scientific opinion on climate change, including the extent to
which it is caused by humans, its impacts on nature and human society, or the potential of adaptation
to global warming by human actions. Although scientific opinion on climate change is that human
activity is likely to be the primary driver of climate change, the politics of global warming have been
affected by climate change denial, hindering efforts to prevent climate change and adapt to the
warming climate. There are a few central biological processes that we must understand to recognize
how humans are causing climate change. The carbon cycle is a pivotal process of climate change.

  • 2. Importance Of Being Earnest By Oscar Wilde The play Importance of Being Earnest written by Oscar Wilde is an excellent representative of the comedy of manners. Typical, for Oscar s style, there is always something hiding behind character than what the readers suppose. In the play women are very responsible for development of the action. I will provide the portrayal of Lady Bracknell, Gwendolen and Miss Prism. Jack becomes the leader of the savages and slips further and further away from civilization by the day, as he kills pigs for pleasure and even kills some of the boys. Jack has a very aggressive personality and is ugly and gangly. *I put brown and green together because they represent the same thing Brown and green The brown and green represent Jack s mask. Golding uses the mask to represent savagery and human nature, showing how Jack was consumed by his barbaric instincts. Similarly, I placed the brown and green on the outside to illustrate how the mask consumes him. Furthermore, Jack uses the mask to ¨hid(e behind), liberated from shame and self consciousness...¨(Golding 64). After taking high school English classes where you are constantly writing for a grade and to please the teacher s idea of what good writing is, I couldn t help being concerned about what a college level writing class was going to be like. Teachers in high school were constantly trying to tell you how to write their way and perfect what they thought was good writing. Little did I know everyone s writing style is good in its own way. This academic writing class proved to me that no writing style is right or wrong, but instead all writing styles have their own uniqueness and character to them. After reading the assigned articles and analyzing the writing process and other topics discussed in this class, I now see writing as an extraordinary process that is different for everyone. After writing papers and getting feedback, I saw where my writing lacked solid evidence in my rhetorical analysis paper, and I also found certain ways I can write more efficiently in my process analysis paper. I also learned how discourse communities functioned and how genre is something completely different than what our K 12 teachers have taught me for so long. Food Stamp Program Thesis The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as the Food Stamp program, was established as a safety net against hunger and malnutrition for low income Americans and their families. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance programs help millions of families, seniors, people with disabilities, and low wage working Americans afford access to enough food. • 10. The Proteins Of Carbohydrates And Carbohydrates Introduction Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids are organic molecules found in every living organism. These macromolecules are large carbon based structures. The macromolecules are assembled by joining several smaller units, called monomers, together through a chemical reaction called dehydration synthesis. The resulting polymer can be disassembled through the complementary process called hydrolysis.Carbohydrates are made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms in a 1:2:1 ratio. This means that for every carbon atom present in the carbohydrate there are two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom present. The monomers for carbohydrates are referred to as monosaccharides. When many monosaccharides are chained together the resulting molecule is called a polysaccharide. Carbohydrates are used by living organisms as an important source of energy. Examples of carbohydrates include glucose, fructose, sucrose, galactose, ribose, deoxyribose, cellulose and chitin.Lipids are also made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen but the ratio of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen is not 1:2:1. Instead, lipids have a much higher number of carbons and hydrogens with few oxygen atoms present. The nonpolar bonds that form between the carbon and hydrogen atoms of a lipid cause them to be hydrophobic, or water repellent, molecules. This explains why water and oil do not mix. The large number of carbon to hydrogen bonds also serves to make lipids energy rich storage molecules. One gram of lipid stores ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His rites of passage to society can be seen as a positive note to mortality, as it highlights the amenities of life. This can be seen as a compare and contrast to his former animal state, where the wild beasts of the steppe shunned his person (I 189). The shunning is most likely due to the animals not understanding his sexual desires, as animals only mate for procreation. Different Presidents say different things and have different stances about it, and often it is had to know what to think about it. Basically there are two different ways of looking at it: Pro Choice, which takes the stance of saying that it is the woman s choice if she wants to have an abortion and that it is only her business. So basically they want it to remain legal. Then there is the other stance of Pro Life which says that it should not remain legal and that it is just about as bad as cold blooded murder. Comparative Analysis of Economic and Political Cleavages in South Africa and Zimbabwe Introduction Comparative politics is concerned with examining the characteristics or qualities of two different political entities to discover resemblances or differences. These entities can be general in nature, for example, the comparison of two countries, or more specific in nature, comparing two different systems of government. But, whether general or specific in nature, comparative politics tries to determine what caused the governments to form in the way that they did. Land Reform Historically, land reform programs in South Africa and Zimbabwe has been similar in some respects. It is necessary to briefly review the history of each country in respect to this cleavage to better understand current discontinuities and to note the clear differences in contemporary land reform that are being implemented in the two countries. Both South Africa and Zimbabwe were British colonies. All the land in these colonies was owned by white Europeans and farmed by poor black Africans. In 1980, Rhodesia broke from the bondage of white rule and elected its first black president, Robert Mugabe, who came with promises of restoration of the land to native Africans, and of better health care and educational opportunities. The now independent Rhodesia was renamed Zimbabwe in 1980. But during the 1980 s, drought and white emigration badly damaged the economy, which already strained by the need for massive government spending in the long neglected areas of black education, health, and social services. One point is how Julius was a very strong an opinionated person. The second point is Julius and Gerry finally confronted each other about getting along and the last point is how coach Boone pushed Julius and Gerry to share the captaincy roles to work hard together for the team to follow in example. Julius was a very opinionated person, who was all about himself and not looking after his own team or anyone else for that matter. For example when Julius was confronted by Gerry, during this conversation Julius said I m supposed to wear out myself for this team? What team? Nope that s not what I m going to do is I m going to look after myself. When this confrontation was happening there were many close up camera shots, this was because the director wanted to show the emotion and anger in the faces of Gerry and Julius. As a result women often make choices, which reflect their subordinate status to keep to the norm and stabilise themselves economically and socially. Women in countries in sub Saharan Africa, South and East Asian areas, though in differing contexts face similar struggles of subservience and manipulation. Women accommodate, resist or adapt to the sexist oppressive system. Those who choose to bargain with the social constructs aim to enhance their situation, giving them more power and to some extent freedom from ideological societies that subjugate them. Deniz Kandiyoti, s bargaining with patriarchy offers a complex but seemingly pertinent argument in regards to the dichotomy between society and gender specific roles. Regarding their practices as fluid and negotiable, where societies are the product of imposition that struggle between cultural and historical norms. Within these systems of negotiation, Kandiyoti s juxtaposes agricultural labor and classic patriarchy. Within Sub Saharan Africa gender relations tend to favor that of males, receiving both credit and economic stability, however it is not just the men who contribute to the economy but that of women. Traditional surrogacy is defined as the sperm from either the couple s male partner or a donor is used to artificially inseminate the surrogate (the surrogate mother ). (Vaughn, 398) Then there is Gestational surrogacy, which is defined as the surrogate receives a transferred embryo created through IVF using the sperm and egg of others (the contracting couple of donors). Commodity comes into play with surrogacy because commodities are valuable because they are able to provide enjoyment for the couple and one is able to put a price tag on them. In terms with surrogacy, the surrogate mother is putting a price tag on her child and receives money for it for the family that will be looking after the surrogate mother s child. That child will provide a sense of happiness and turning that couple into a family. Vaughn states, For in this practice the natural mother deliberately conceives a child with the intention of giving it up for material advantage. Her renunciations of parental responsibilities is not done for the child s sake, nor for the sake of fulfilling an interest she shares with the child, but typically for her own sake (and possibly, if altruism is a motive, for the intended parents sakes). She and the couple who pay her to give up her parental rights over her child thus treat her rights as a kind of property right. They thereby treat the child itself as a kind of commodity, which may be properly bought and sold. (Vaughn, 473 474) This quote is evident because parents seem to forget that children should always come first. Unfortunately with commodity, a commodity has a lot to do with surrogacy. • 42. Theme Of Supernatural Elements In The Fall Of The House Of... Supernatural elements is something that cannot be explained by the laws of nature. These elements, such as religious figures and activities, ghosts, witches and anthropomorphized animals have been used to develop themes throughout literature. These supernatural elements are often used to outline the conflict within the plot and creates an atmosphere of mystery and suspense throughout the text, which establishes the gothic. Supernatural components leave us to question what is real and what is our imagination. In the text The Fall of the House of Usher there are supernatural events throughout the short story. From the rapidly decaying house that is quite literally connected to the main character Roderick Usher, to the ghost of Roderick s twin sister Madeline. House of Usher an appellation which seemed to include, in the minds of the peasantry who used it, both the family and the family mansion. This line gives us a hint from the title toward the supernatural link between the physical house collapsing and the metaphorical fall of the Usher Family. I believe Edgar Poe did this to evoke an uncanny feeling in the reader and to add to the sublime of the short story. This link between living and inanimate gives the story an extra gothic element. There was blood upon her white robes, and the evidence of some bitter struggle upon every portion of her emaciated frame. For a moment she remained trembling and reeling to and fro upon the threshold then, with a low moaning cry, fell heavily inward upon the person of her brother, and in her violent and now final death agonies, bore him to the floor a corpse, and a victim to the terrors he had anticipated. The supernatural element of Madeline coming back from the dead or being a ghost creates conflict within the plot and therefore leads to the inevitable fall of the Usher Family. I believe this ghostly figure struck fear into the reader creating a suspenseful follow up, allowing the imagination to take off and picture this supernatural occurrence. This was never an explained supernatural event. It was left up to the reader s imagination and their assumption as to what is real and what is a figment of the characters imagination.
