Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. - 1. QUESTION 3 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
- 2. CONDE NAST Conde Nast is a mass media company that publishes over 20 digital magazines. It attracts an approximate 164 million consumers and has a variety of fashion, lifestyle, music, bridal, gold and many more magazines. GQ is a men's magazine published by Conde Nast which often speaks of music, health, fitness etc. As the target audience for my magazine, BASE, consists of young teenage males I believe Conde Nast would find it easy to make my magazine appeal to this target market. They also publish teen vogue which mainly appeals to young, teenage females- another target market of BASE. I think Conde Nast will also find reaching out to this market easy.
- 3. HARRIS PUBLICATIONS Harris publications publishes hip hop magazines such as XXL. Due to their experience in magazine publications of this genre, I would be interested in publishing my magazine BASE with them as they have years of experience and would know the correct way to present certain things and entice customers into purchasing my magazine.
- 4. DISTRIBUTION I would like my magazine to be mainly distributed in supermarket as I believe they cater to a wide range of people and some people that may find a hip-hop magazine particularly appealing would be likely to shop in a supermarket as it’s a universal, ageless place where people would typically suspect magazines to be sold at. I would also like my magazine to be distributed in sportswear shops such as JD Sports, as the majority of customers are of a young/teenage age and this is the same as the customers for my BASE magazine. Therefore I think they would be more inclined to buy the magazine if they saw it towards the till.
