WHAT DOES THE INSTITUTION DO?
The media institution that I choose will determine how my magazine is
portrayed in the public eye. This is due t the fact it will control how my
magazine is advertised and how widely it will be distributed. This will be
effected by the size of the group and what magazines they already
produce, if they produce well established magazines it shows that they
are a good fit for my magazine as it aspires to be like those.
WHAT INSTITUTION I HAVE CHOSEN AND WHY?
The institution that I have chosen to publish my magazine is Bauer Media
Group this is due to the fact that it is the largest and best-established
institution this is supported on the information that the group offers
over 300 hundred magazines over 15 different countries. Another
reason I have sided with Bauer is that it offers the best range of music
magazines and also three popular productions that have a similar genre
to mine, these being ‘Q’, ‘Mojo’ and ‘Kerrang’ magazine although I do
primarily want to focus on alternative rock. These are three highly
successful and well-established magazines and I feel they can replicate
this feat with magazines. Evidence to support the previous statement is
that Q magazine now sells 52,700 copies each month with Mojo having
a total of 79,345 readers. The genre of my magazine is alternative
rock/rock I feel although this links well with this institution this is due to
the fact that that with Bauer producing ‘Q’, ’Kerrang’ and ‘Mojo’ I feel
that it produces the most magazines that are successful similar to mine
and therefore have a lot of experience in this field and will be, most
suited to the production of my magazine. Q being the most similar to
mine has a similar reader profile to the people I will be aiming at making
Bauer even more suitable to produce my magazine. Examples of this
are that 51.8% of Q’s readers are in my target audience as well as the
gender split is also similar within Q magazine and finally that the ABC1
profile follows a similar trend to that of mine.
HOW WILL PEOPLE REACH OUT T MY
MAGAZINE?
My magazine could possibly advertised in a range of
platforms such as TV, radio, web adverts and in physical
form through posters all of this will be done in a similar
fashion to other magazines such as Q and NME. My
magazine will appear in shops to attract peoples attention
as well as allowing people to subscribe to it online
drawing more attention to my magazine.

  • 2. WHAT DOES THE INSTITUTION DO? The media institution that I choose will determine how my magazine is portrayed in the public eye. This is due t the fact it will control how my magazine is advertised and how widely it will be distributed. This will be effected by the size of the group and what magazines they already produce, if they produce well established magazines it shows that they are a good fit for my magazine as it aspires to be like those.
  • 3. WHAT INSTITUTION I HAVE CHOSEN AND WHY? The institution that I have chosen to publish my magazine is Bauer Media Group this is due to the fact that it is the largest and best-established institution this is supported on the information that the group offers over 300 hundred magazines over 15 different countries. Another reason I have sided with Bauer is that it offers the best range of music magazines and also three popular productions that have a similar genre to mine, these being ‘Q’, ‘Mojo’ and ‘Kerrang’ magazine although I do primarily want to focus on alternative rock. These are three highly successful and well-established magazines and I feel they can replicate this feat with magazines. Evidence to support the previous statement is that Q magazine now sells 52,700 copies each month with Mojo having a total of 79,345 readers. The genre of my magazine is alternative rock/rock I feel although this links well with this institution this is due to the fact that that with Bauer producing ‘Q’, ’Kerrang’ and ‘Mojo’ I feel that it produces the most magazines that are successful similar to mine and therefore have a lot of experience in this field and will be, most suited to the production of my magazine. Q being the most similar to mine has a similar reader profile to the people I will be aiming at making Bauer even more suitable to produce my magazine. Examples of this are that 51.8% of Q’s readers are in my target audience as well as the gender split is also similar within Q magazine and finally that the ABC1 profile follows a similar trend to that of mine.
  • 4. HOW WILL PEOPLE REACH OUT T MY MAGAZINE? My magazine could possibly advertised in a range of platforms such as TV, radio, web adverts and in physical form through posters all of this will be done in a similar fashion to other magazines such as Q and NME. My magazine will appear in shops to attract peoples attention as well as allowing people to subscribe to it online drawing more attention to my magazine.
