The Advantage Of Homeschooling
Homeschooling is a type of education which children are taught at home, usually by their parents or
tutors, instead of in conventional public or private schools. While it is common in some countries,
especially America, according to the Hong Kong Education Bureau (2001), if parents stop their
children from attending school without valid reasons, they might be issued with an attendance order
requiring them to send their children back to school. However, as there were recently controversies
over the Hong Kong educational style and the work load of students, it may be time to think of
alternatives such as homeschooling. The effectiveness of homeschooling has been widely discussed.
Supporters believe that curricula of greater depth and bread can ... Show more content on

There are possible results of homeschooled children having less social skills and academic knowledge
than school based students. Strong statistical analysis, however, shows that the above problems can be
tackled with better planning and regulations. Contrastingly, the benefits of homeschooling are
fundamental based on the flexible teaching methods and schedules so that children s interests and
quality of learning could be enhanced to increase the efficiency of education. However, if
homeschooling has to be popularized in Hong Kong, supportive measurements from different parties,
such as more in depth teaching courses from museums, more precisely trained experts or tutor for
teaching homeschoolers and more clear policy and rules set by the government to prevent neglecting
of children education, are needed. In the academic field, further and more comprehensive research
comparing the effectiveness of different teaching methods such as using textbooks, outing, holding
discussions and doing projects is needed to help homeschooled parents to plan better schedules for

Emirates Technological Factors
1.0 Introduction
One of the world s top best airlines, Emirates is the largest as it is in middle east, the company operate
flights from Dubai International Airport of over 3,000 flights every week (Keea Shila, 2013). Emirates
fly to more than 180 destination, to
80 countries in the world. The airline was founded during 1985 by Ahmed
Bin Saeed and began it services in aviation industry in mid October in 1985 with only two jets. Over
the years, the airline have been expanding, consisting of more than 130 aircrafts and over 50,000
employees who come from over 160 nationalities currently. Emirates had built up its Image along the

Even though it may not reduce cost as much, advance technology does improve Emirates operations.
After much innovations of 21st century technology, Emirates establish its first A380 airbus fleet in
2010 and still expanding. Not only it accommodate a huge number of passengers, the plane, but it also
uses Biofuel and quieter noise volume with thrust reversal engines, giving its passengers great flight
experience.
2.5 Environmental factor The world as we know it to be is recently very ill. Due to much effect of
human activity, global temperature is rising at a fast rate per year, which leads to serious changes in
climate and weather. This results in aviation industries to be badly affected as the changes will lead to
flight delays and bumper flights due to mid air turbulence. Thus Emirates does take this factor into
serious considerations and started carrying out its Go Green plan in 2011 to reduce emition of
greenhouse gases. Airplanes can cause an increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2)
thus Emirates carry out its flight operations using Biofuel. Though its expensive, usage of Biofuels for
its engines does save for a better environment. Emirates also carried out a Recycling plan in 2009 by
recycling its jets of those that are old and out of

Louisa Maset Research Paper
Louisa and Felicia are both women of UK nationality that committed infanticide around 110 years
apart, though the cases ran very parallel, the rulings were very different. Over those 100 years modern
day courts have changed dramatically in many forms. 18th century courts based their trials off the

The And Female Characters Of Candide
The IA Essay
How do the experiences of the women in Candide differ from those of the men? How do their
reactions to those experiences differ from those of the men?
Most of Voltaire s characters were able to explain why they could consider themselves as the most
unhappy by providing a story of what had occurred to them. Their experiences vary from natural to
man made misfortunes. However, even though, the characters reactions to their misfortunes are of a
similar, the experiences between the male and female characters of Candide are quite different in
regards to what is taken away from them.
Throughout the novel we follow, the main character, Candide, through his journey of reuniting with
his beloved Cunegonde. The journey was very dangerous because throughout the novel, Candide was
flogged, forced into an army, shipwrecked, betrayed, robbed, and separated from his love Cunegonde,
and tortured by the Inquisition. Most of Candide s misfortunes was mostly of robbery and abuse.
Throughout the journey, Candide was able to acquire love and wealth. Though, both things were taken
away from him. Cunegonde and Candide were separated frequently ever since that kiss they shared.
As for the wealth, Candide kept flaunting it around and spent a lot of it unwisely. Therefore, the
villainous characters in the novel were able to notice that Candide was a fool and noticed that robbing
some of his wealth would be an easy task for them. Though, it was at this moment that Candide was
fed up

My Reflection On My Capstone Rotation
1. Some of the emotions I experienced at clinical were a sense of self confidence and excitement. In
previous semesters, I feel as if I am typically a little more nervous on the first clinical experience.
However, my emotions were very different starting my capstone rotation. I think this is because I
know I am nearing the end of nursing school and I have much more knowledge than I did at this time
two years ago. I have learned that nursing is a profession of life long learning and each day is an
opportunity to learn something new. Therefore, having those ideas in mind I feel that I didn t make
myself worry about what I didn t know, instead, I was excited and focused on what I was going to
learn. These feelings held true for both shifts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two nurses were continuously talking negative about a nurse s aide on the floor. They felt that she
didn t help them as much as she could have and that she picks and chooses who she helps. After taking
a recent workplace violence module in our leadership class this semester, I have a better understanding
on how this impacts patient centered care and that this situation is a very negative workplace behavior.
Initially, I felt that it was best to ignore the situation because as a student I didn t want to get involved.
However, after the gossip continued, attempts to resolve the issue were to state that the floor was busy
and as a PCT I often get behind as well, the nurses then agreed that the unit was busy and moved on to
a different conversation. Throughout the whole ordeal I continued to have my patient s best interest at
priority and didn t let the behavior of these nurses impede on the care being provided. (2 points)
4. Safety concerns that I encountered during the experience were in regards to a patient admitted for
unrelieved chest pain. The patient was in his late seventies and had end stage renal disease. According
to Lewis and colleagues (2014), after age seventy five, renal clearance of medications declines
substantially, which places elderly individuals at risk for medication toxicity (p. 73). However, since
the patient also had end stage renal disease the risk for toxicity was even greater. Because of the

Dangers To Work With Someone In The Great Depression
There are many dangers to work with someone in the Great Depression, but there are as well benefits.
The first positive attribute of having a friend is that they have someone to talk with, and could keep
them from getting mad or depressed. For example, it says on line 4 Lennie was delighted. That s it that
s it. Now tell how it is with us. It was show that Lennie liked what George was telling him. George on
the other hand also felt positive. Lennie told George to get multi colored rabbits and George said,

side of having friends, is that when are in trouble both of you are in trouble. George had told Lenny

The Domestic Policies of Diefenbaker and Pearson
Essay Plan Compare and contrast the successes and failures of the domestic policies of Diefenbaker
and Pearson
John George Diefenbaker and Lester Bowles Pearson both acted as Prime Minister of Canada during
the Cold War. The two were from different Canadian political parties that accorded to their beliefs and
principles, Diefenbaker being a Progressive Conservative party member and Pearson a Liberal.
Diefenbaker was leaning left as a Conservative, similarly to Eisenhower, who was presiding at the
time, and thus shared a fair relationship with him, though the same could not be said for the US in
general; Pearson s administration presided also along a Democratic administration in the US, though
they clashed often due to the American actions in the Vietnam War. Diefenbaker was elected to office
as his party held the greatest proportion in the Parliament, however, he won only with a minority.
During his administration, Diefenbaker implemented policies that were considered liberal, most of
which he was able to pass, in contrast to Pearson, who only succeeded in passing near half of his due
to the majority he lacked most times in the House of Commons. Both Diefenbaker and Pearson had
political experience before they became PMs, they also share a similarity in that they attempted to
solidify Canada as a nation and to remove the hyphenation in Canadian citizenship; both achieving
success in varying extents. However, Diefenbaker shared differing views on Canadian dependence and

Alexis De Tocqueville Analysis
Another comparison and contrast between Charles Dickens, Alexis De Tocqueville, and Fanny
Trollope is how they managed and experienced life within the newly found Americas. Charles
Dickens, Alexis De Tocqueville, and Fanny Trollope traveled to the United States to experience what
America had to offer and they all experienced something different and new. America is well known for
its immigrants and migration to America, this dates all the way back to the 1820 s throughout the
Nineteenth Century. Alexis De Tocqueville and his traveling companion Beaumont traveled for nine
months by steamboat, by stagecoach, on horseback and in canoes, visiting America s penitentiaries

Similarities Between Thelma And Louise
Thelma and Louise were two regular women in a world filled with controlling, greedy, powerful men.
Thelma, played by Geena Davis was married to Darryl, a man who only cared about watching TV by
himself without being bothered by anything that his wife said or did. Louise, played by Susan
Sarandon, is a waitress dating a musician who is on the road all the time. Both women were sick and
tired of the same monotonous routine. Even though Thelma seemed like she was in a happy marriage,
she was miserable. She always had to play the part of the perfect housewife who takes care of her
husband. This film was made in 1991, and it does portray a story during those years too. It is

be an outcast. Even Thelma in the film says, You re a real live outlaw, aren t ya? He came into their
lives, pretended to be the good guy and then robbed all their money. At the end of the day he did, what
these women also did, which is to find a way to survive and escape from the police. It is interesting to
see two women in roles that would best fit men. That was the catch, no one before had seen two
women head out on a road trip and end up killing a guy and running away from the police. Women are
supposed to be gentle, caring, and they should leave the harsh things to men. Women are considered
delicate and are made to love and be loved, but at the end of the day that doesn t mean women are not
capable of doing things men take pride in. We can drive cars just like men do, we can vote just like
they do, we can think for ourselves just like they do, we are strong, intelligent, independent and strong
willed. We have the same rights as men do, but why are we still inferior to them? Why does society
think this way? Well, in the 19th and 20th century it was because that s the way people thought, but

Parking Lot System Using Arduino
Parking Lot System Design

The aim of this project is to design and build a prototype of an automated parking system which will
show the number of parking spaces left inside the parking lot. It will have a pre installed number of
maximum cars that can be parked. An infra red sensor will count the entry and exit of each car and

The connections of the circuit is shown above in the diagram. The connection shows that the entry exit
is linked to the 7 segment LED and thus using an arduino, we could make a simple system. The IR
sensors were digital and thus the connections are made to the digital side of the arduino mode. The 7
segment LED is connected to the digital inputs of the arduino beard. The servo motor is also
connected to the arduino board and the board was programmed so as to give the desired output. The
LED is fixed to number 9 in the beginning i.e. when no car is in the parking lot. Then as the car enters
the IR sensor detects the car, opens the barricade for the car and reduces the number on the LED to 8.
This continues till the number of the available parking lots are zero. Also when the car exits, the
number on the LED is increased by 1. When the number of available spaces is 0, then if a car tries to
enter, the door will not open.
VII. FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS

In the further research, there are two more factors that should be added to make the system more
reliable. Firstly, IR sensors should be placed over every parking lot.

The Category of Factor X
Malcolm X, an African American Muslim minster and human rights activist, once said We declare our
right on this earth to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a
human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any
means necessary. According to Malcolm X, everyone on the earth has a right to be called a human
being and fit into the category of a human being; no matter if they are young, old, disabled or
incompetent. Yet if we were to look back on our past and cannot seem to count how many times these
so called human beings have treated others who share the same characteristics of human beings as
lesser creatures. It becomes as if in order to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand Factor X is saying that if we were to get rid of these secondary factorials, we would
be equal, however would it worth being equal by eliminating what makes us special. As we begin to
understand that Factor X is not perfect, we find that there will always be one group of people that
factor X seems to not include, which leads to the thinking are they not human beings that have their
own human rights. More importantly we then have to figure what is considered basic human rights
and how do we considered who gets them or at least who deserves their rights more in certain
situations. Figure 1. A simplify list of human rights created and accepted as an international issue after
the Second World War And for that simple reason are we going to say people who are disabled,
terminally ill or an unborn fetus does not have the right to be included in to factor X or the potential to
have human rights. The question then becomes how are we going to amend Factor X to include this
group of people without excluding another group by accidentally using their political/social rights or
characteristics in society to say that they are not competent enough to posses Factor X. Skin color,
looks , social class and wealth, gender, cultural background, and even one s natural talents are all
accidents of birth relegated to the class of nonessential characteristics (Fukuyama 186). If these so call
secondary characteristics were to be taken away, then

murder was going to take place in Bexhill on Sea, the next day. Poirot and Hastings had a pretty good
idea that the person to be killed would be one with the last name starting with B, but they could not be
sure.
In the morning they received a report that a murder took place at about midnight. The victim was
Elizabeth Barnard. She had been killed on the beach and another A.B.C. was found near her. There
had been no reports of her missing until the next morning. They now knew that they were up against a

They received a third letter on the 30th. Once again it made fun of Poirot and said that the next murder
would take place on the 30th at Churston. They rushed to get to Churston, but it was too late. Sir
Carmichal Clarke had been killed. There again were no witnesses to this murder.
The fourth letter said that there would be a murder at Doncastor. All of the closest friends or family
were gathered with them there. They attended a big concert because that s where they though the
murder would take place. When they found the dead body it was George Earlsfield. The murderer was

Samba Essay
The mass of almost one hundred thousand is edgy. The night is hot, humid, and alive with a feeling in
the air so palpable you can almost trace it with your finger. The bleachers are filled to maximum
capacity, along a mile long stretch of paved roadway adjacent to an old brewery. People from all races,
classes, and countries are celebrating together at the culmination of the orgiastic, pre Lenten,
hedonistic festival of Carnival. Soon, the first marchers proceed down the corridor to the booming
cacophony of bass, snare, and friction drums. The rattling of tambourines, bells, and scrapers add
flavor and accent. Like a bird set free, the singing cavaquinho (ukulele) emits its high pitched cries,

The only stringed instrument is the high pitched cavaquinho (ukulele). Together these instruments fuse
to create polyrhythyms that align and cross, reinforce and contrast with each other in a lively style less
formal than maxixe or marcha. Couples often dance to samba in physically close, tight movements
similar to the lundu and lambada, employing voluptuous movements, gyrating hips, and heel and leg
movements often said to imitate the act of lovemaking.
To better appreciate Samba, one must understand the history of the country and the people that gave it
life. Brazil s individual national character and rich musical tradition are the result of a profound
mingling of races that has been ongoing in the country since the landing of Pedro Alvares Cabral in
April 1500. Even before this event the indigenous Indians of Brazil had an already established musical
culture; they sang solo and in chorus, played whistles, horns, and flutes, and beat out rhythms with
hand clapping, foot stamping, rattles, beats, and drums. With the Portuguese invasion came the piano,
violin, guitar, clarinet, and tambourine. These were incorporated into the musical forms of moda,
modinha, acalanto, fofa, and fado, which were songs of sentiment, lullaby, and dance. The Portuguese
also brought religious festivals and pageants such as the reisado and bumba meu boi. The former in
celebration of the Epiphany and the latter an elaborate enactment of the death

The Purpose Of This Paper Is To Compare And Contrast Two
The purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast two famous educators using APA Style. This
paper will talk about theories of Piaget and Vygotsky in which similarities and differences in their
theories will be discussed. At the end of this paper, you will be able to understand the differences
between both famous educators.

With this theory, he talks about how children s behaviors, as well as their thoughts, can differ because
of cultures and how they are raised. The children s interactions change according to their cultures and
teachings.
His theory suggests that the children s development is according to their cultures and how they are

tools that they are given as they grow up. Vygotsky talks about imitative learning, instructed learning,
and collaborative learning. Imitative learning is where the child learns from watching and imitating a
person. Instructed learning where the student learns to remember the teacher s instructions then they
are to do the work, and then there is Collaborative, this involves students that work together and try to

Therefore, New York is represented as a very crowded city with a lot of things happening. Moreover,
it seems an extremely loud city with people rushing everywhere and minding their own business.
The main character Stu Shepard (Colin Farrell) is represented as a very arrogant and popular man. He
comes across as very cocky and a con man. Furthermore, when we first see him the camera is looking
up on him. This makes him seem very important and big.
The scenes The Caller and Exposed start to build tension to the film by using some very clever effects
and media techniques. Firstly, the soundtrack helps build a sense of fear by playing eyrie music, this
creates tension, plus the music is playing irregularly so tension is building all the time. Moreover, the
irregular music creates tension in certain places of the film to emphasise the fear at that particular
moment. This means tension is constantly building. Furthermore, the normal sounds that you would
hear in a city are muffled and there aren t many of them so you can stay focused on the phone booth.
Moreover, The Caller s voice is much louder than usual, this makes it look as though he knows he has
the power over Stu and that he has him wrapped round his finger.
Secondly, the variety of camera angles makes it feel like he s being. They also change very suddenly
which creates tension because you don t know where he is being watched from because the camera

Gender Inequality In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Sexuality over Centuries
And though she be but little, she is fierce (3.2 335). This was said in A Midsummer Night s Dream.
This represents the life women have of being perceived as small, objects, and as pointless. But as the
time has gone by, women have proved to be a fierce as the Presidents of the United States. When it
comes to looking at women and how they have been interpreted, the one question I have has to be why
Shakespeare was against the female gander. He was a man who was raised in the 16th century so he
has seen the roughness the women have to bear. He seen deal with men having numerous rights, the
feeling of cross dressing to get what they desire, and also fight for their own individual rights.
Looking into Shakespeare s work and interpreting his meaning behind the treatment of women, there
are many forms that take place from feminist actions to the appearance that is showing women,
including men, living on their daily lives.
Women in the 16th century lived a life greatly different than the women of today. The normal
occupation for women at the time was marriage and motherhood (McDonald 253). The women lived a
very rough life with only two basic tasks, they only cleaned the house and took care of ... Show more

particular market that Outback caters to, the similar chains that compete with Outback would include
LongHorn Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday s, and Red Lobster.
Regionally, the Outback Steakhouse located in Edgewater competes with nearby diners and
restaurants like Mitchell s Fish Market, Brownstone Pancake Factory, along with with the large
Japanese supermarket/food court Mitsuwa Marketplace.
Demographics of the Organization For the twelve employees currently on staff (on the daily bases),
there are five team roles used in this Outback Steakhouse franchise: one Manager, two Hosts, one

Analysis Of Totem By Thomas King
In the short story Totem by Thomas King, the relationship between the totem pole and the museum
workers is negative. The relationship is depicted as being overpowering, authoritative, and entitled
when the workers continually try to remove the totem pole from the museum. Ultimately, the totem
pole symbolizes the struggles and perseverance of the Indigenous people in Canada. In King s short
story, the museum workers are continually trying to remove the totem pole from the museum as
Walter, one of these workers, states, the totem pole is not part of the show, and we need to move it
someplace else (King 14). This quote demonstrates the controlling nature of the museum workers in
their ongoing pursuit to remove the totem pole from the museum, but each attempt is as successful as
their last. The totem pole s ongoing struggle to survive in the museum is paralleled to the Indigenous
people s ongoing struggle to survive under the oppression of Canadian settlers and governments trying
to eliminate them. Another example, from the story, that shows the controlling nature of the museum
workers is when Walter attempts to find the owner of the totem pole instead of just leaving it in the
show. The simple notion of ownership is different in the Indigenous and non Indigenous cultures.
Indigenous cultures believe that everything is to be shared and no one is an owner of anything, while
the non Indigenous cultures believe that every object seemingly belongs to someone. Further,

Going To Jail
HEAD DOWN THE TOILET
What s worst, being the shortest in the grade or going to jail? How about going to jail for being the
shortest in the grade! I know what you re thinking, how can someone be locked up for being vertically
challenged? Well the truth is it wasn t your usual arrest, then court, then jail procedures, in fact there
was no police involved at all. If there were then maybe they would have seen how someone of my
status, my four foot seven pimple faced, bracer faced, glasses face status could not even attempt
anything as badass and remotely worthy of being locked up. You see in this world there are winners
and then there are losers, with my father s brainiac genetics and my mother s maniac genetics there is
no surprise that I was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Halfway through every year we are expected to go on an excursion. This year s excursion was to
Mangalo Prison. Mangalo prison was famous in our town as people believed criminals left there evil
spirits behind in there, that and the fact it was nearly a hundred years old was the only reason why it
still existed. Finding a seat on the school bus was like a hierarchy, you know, popular people at the
back, nerds at the front and then there s the loser who sits next to the bus driver. I didn t mind sitting
next to the bus driver, I suppose after seven years you get to know the guy. It was a lot easier to talk to
Steve that trip because unlike the usual chaotic yelling, everyone was listening to Jimmy Dunning s
Mangalo Prison ghost stories. As much as I disliked Jimmy and his strange desire to flush my head
down toilets, his stories were actually terrifying. The town of Mangalo was like those deserted towns
you see in movies where the only thing moving is a tumble weed. It wasn t hard to spot the jail as the
houses were the size of tents. We were escorted through the jail by a rugged looking man who looked
as though he once called the place home. Once the tour was over we were free to explore and wonder
the jail ourselves. When I was quietly examining rude graffiti on a jail cell, I felt the most concussive
feeling of my neck being jarred as I was shoved from behind into a cell wall. How I got from being
pressed up against the wall to my head stuck

Franz Kafka and Ismail Kadare
Franz Kafka and Ismail Kadare were two of the most extravagant storytellers of modern times. Franz
Kafka wrote the short story, The Metamorphosis and Ismail Kadare wrote the novel, Broken April. In
these two stories, there is a sense of sadness and darkness that both author s portrayed in them. The
characterization between Gregor (from The Metamorphosis) and Gjorg (from Broken April) were
actually similar in comparison. The similarities are isolation, loneliness, and their father figures.
Nevertheless, both stories are magnificent to read during spare time. In The Metamorphosis, Gregor
lives a melancholy life with his parents and sister. One day Gregor awakes to find that he has been
transformed into a bug. A jump through the story, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Isolation intertwine the characters, Gregor and Gjorg with each other in the same way but it has
different outcomes. In addition, Gregor and Gjorg both contribute from being lonely. This is said
because in The Metamorphosis, Gregor feels like his parents don t even want to be around him. ...he
(Gregor) would not be in the mood to bother about his family, he was only filled with rage at the way
they were neglecting him... (pg. 846, Literature Across Cultures: Fourth Edition). In the story, Gregor
s father felt despondent when his son went through a metamorphosis because slowly he was getting a
mind set that Grgor would never be normal again. Gregor would be left in his room ,deteriorating,
feeling lonely because his family do not want to be around him. Not only does he feel lonely about
being trapped in his room but he is afraid to go outside because of the dangers that prowls around out
there. Thus, in Broken April, Gjorg found himself alone on the highroad; he felt all hope of ever
accomplishing his journey failed within him. This shows that Gjorg is suffering from a lack of hope
which is most likely caused by suffering from being alone walking all day. Next, The emptiness of the
road of either side seemed emptier still... . (pg.53, Kadare). This is a revelation that emptiness is only a
symbol of loneliness that the author portrays. Loneliness is defined as simply a feeling that cause
depression or other emotional sickness. Gregor and Gjorg

Why White Killer Whales
Scientists are now worried after a group of killer whales appeared in a group in the Northern part of
the Pacific Ocean. This whale belongs to the dolphin family, and is considered the largest in that
family. The whale is also known as orca and has teeth. Most of them feed on diverse diet, but
individual whales have their own prey. There are those who feed on fish, while others hunt for
dolphins and seals. They are known as apex predators because no animal can dare to prey on them.
They are cosmopolitan and can be found on any ocean in the world.
These whales are social and live together in matrilineal groups. They are known because of the
sophisticated hunting skills which is common to their whole group. This article will explain why white

They are mostly seen in Washington and British Columbia areas.
Transient This type of white killer whales feed exclusively on marine mammals. Generally, they travel
in groups of six animals and have tight family bonds. Their female counterparts have triangular dorsal
fins that are pointed.
Offshore This is a killer whale that was discovered in the North east pacific region in 1988. They feed
exclusively on the schooling fish.
Scientists have embarked on research to ascertain the inbreeding of this mysterious whale. This will
help to prepare for the invisible threat posed by these whales. This predator has not listed as one of the
endangered ocean species. These predators are dangerous even to human life.

Innocence In Elizabeth Bowen s The Demon Lover
The Demon Lover, explains a love story from the past that comes back to the protagonist, Mrs.
Drover, which happens to be a fictional character based on the author, Elizabeth Bowen s own life
experience. As the piece describes in detail parts leading up until the shift, when the letter is found, the
reader is left predicting the anonymous person who left it. It is unknown from the shift as to what will
occur, but the reader can assume something may not be good based on the title and the letter itself that
was on the table of her abandoned house. In The Demon Lover, Bowen wrote about a woman who is
haunted by her ex fiancé, who is a demon that wants revenge for the woman s forgotten love for him,
which uses modern language rather than conventional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Demon Lover, Bowen uses modern and feminist ideas to draw the reader into a deeper
understanding of the piece adding detail, such as imagery and descriptions of the Blitz and the
flashback which lets the reader understand her past romance. Shifts in the story occur as she narrows
down possibilities as to how the letter arrived inside her home. Mrs. Drover remembers her ex fiancé s
promise, I shall be with you, he said, sooner or later. You won t forget that, which leads to her, later
on, talking to herself after his death saying that, he was never kind to me, not really. I don t remember
him kind at all (Bowen, 1332 1335). At the end of the short story, Mrs. Drover was completely in awe
of what she had saw in the cab, being that it was K., Mrs. Drover s mouth hung open for some seconds
before she could issue her first scream, which explains that she did not expect the driver to be her ex
fiancé and from that point she was stuck with him. As the short story ends, the reader can only
imagine the outcome that Mrs. Drover will have since it is not stated, perhaps her death or a life of
terror, but it is simply

up to the mid 70 s. Thousands of people were involuntarily sterilized in order to stop their genes from
continuing on. The goal at hand using sterilization was to help tidy up the genetic pool and it was a
very popular movement. This violation of human rights was devastating to thousands of families and
the state of California has issued and apology for everyone who had to experience this, whereas North

The Ruined Maid
Thomas Hardy`s The Ruined Maid outlines the transition from a poor women to a ruined, yet rich
maid. His references to ruin are to lose virginity outside of wedlock, something considered a disgrace
in the time the poem was written. The poem looks at the choice of a life as an average Dorset girl
doing what was considered correct by spudding up docks or becoming ruined and leading a high
quality life, having the ability to strut about town . The Ruined Maid begins by two former friends
meeting, one a country girl and the other women, who was once a country girl, but has now changed
her life in the town. Firstly we are told about the maid`s change of clothing, as she now wears fair
garments as supposed to tatters, this is a sign

Howard Zinn Critique
A People s History of the United States written by Howard Zinn is exactly what the title says, from a
socialist point of view. Written like Zinn has done his research, he makes an arguable case on the
United States history from his standpoint. Viewing the United States history from a new perspective is
the goal of this book, one not everyone will enjoy. Zinn is rather harsh on some figures and eras in the
United States history, such as slavery, Native Americans, and corporations. Overall I d say the book
has a very depressing tone that makes you really question our country s actions. Open mindedness is
the key to enjoying this book while reading, with Zinn being anti government and with myself only
ever being taught out of government funded textbooks there some collision to beliefs.
Writing a book with an uncommonly taught perspective, Zinn tried to verify his take on U.S history.
There are inserts from various documents, such as diaries, ledgers, and newspapers used as supporting
documents to his claim, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Was World War II the people s war, or the manufacturer s? That s the question Zinn bases this chapter
on. Bringing in facts about the U.S entering multiple countries and intervening before the U.S
declared war, he challenges the motivation behind U.S involvement in the war. One of these
intervening being Vladivostok, Russia, with seven thousand troops, offsetting the effects of the
Bolshevik revolution in Russia as told by the U.S state department. Zinn conveys it as we didn t enter
the war as a concern for the people fighting it or being hurt by the Nazi party, any more than how we
didn t enter the Civil War off the number of enslaved blacks. Rather, we entered because of the
Japanese bombing and Roosevelt lied about it being the right cause. Challenging the reader, Zinn
makes him or her ask themselves if we really are such a self centered country and leaves it to them to
find the answer that

The Sexual Exploitation Of Youth
INTRODUCTION In an era where internet and social media dominate, there must be a consideration
of legal issues concerning privacy rights. But where is the line drawn when it may be associated with
the sexual exploitation of youth? R. v. Barabash, 2015 SCC 29 [Barabash] is a circumstantial case that
centres on concerns of privacy rights involving private use, child pornography, as well as regarding
the establishments of exploitation and consent. Barabash involved two fourteen year old girls who
were runaways, dependant on drugs and involved in prostitution. According to Statistics Canada
(2008) at the time of this case, youth aged 12 to 14 were twice as likely to experience sexual violence
then that of young adults, this statistic was even higher if the victim is female (Sexual Assault, para.
4). While they were staying with two significantly older men they were involved in sexual activity that
was videotaped and photographed. Under s.163.1(2) of the Criminal Code the men were charged for
making child pornography as well as the older man was charged with possession of child pornography
under s. 163.1(4). While the trial judge found all elements of the offences were established, the
accused raised in defence the private use exception outlined in R. v. Sharpe, 2001 SCC 2 [Sharpe],
which the judge failed to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt. Through theoretical and legal
frameworks this paper will analyze the defence of private use through objective analysis with

Pros And Cons Of Mealtime Dilemma
Mealtime Dilemma A study done by Vegetarian Times has shown that 3.2 percent, or 7.3 million US
adults follow a vegetarian diet (Editors). The main reasons that people have chosen the vegetarian
lifestyle are due to health, the environment, and their own personal morality. When it comes to living a
healthy lifestyle, it is fairly well known that proteins, iron, and vitamins are necessary to digestive
system health. For many people, meat is the go to answer to get these things. However, meat is not
necessary to a balanced meal if these things are consumed on a regular basis. Other sources that have
an abundance of these things include leafy greens, legumes, and natural grains. The American Dietetic
Association admits that Vegetarian diets are often associated with a number of health advantages,
including lower blood cholesterol levels, lower risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure levels, and
lower risk of hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Vegetarians tend to have a lower body mass index
(BMI) and lower overall cancer rates. (American). This evidence supports the decision of becoming a
vegetarian as many of the health issues in the United States revolve around these issues. Eating meat
has a large negative effect on the environment. When it comes to deforestation, the Livestock,
Environment and Development (LEAD) Initiative says that as livestock production increases, the mass
clearing of trees is also increased. It is said that 20% of the world s pastures and

Arcadio Buendias Journey
While reading this book it takes you on a journey and you do not appreciate the destination until it is
over. Where the journey begins is what the main vocal point is and it is the Buendia family because
they set the tone. This tone is set by the head of the Buendia family, Jose Arcadio Buendia. The
founder of the town, Macondo and his family have a lasting impact on the town for over a century.
What the author Marquez is trying to display in his writing is how the town changes with the different
generations of the Buendia family. Specifically the effect Melquiades, a gypsy has on Macondo and
the Buendia family throughout the story. Melquiades changes the psyche of the whole town and the
Buendia family. Melquiades presence in town fascinated everyone with what type of technological he
brought with him. Especially, it affected Jose Arcadio Buendia the most out of anyone and they soon
become friends. Buendia wanted to learn more about technological, changing his appearance and not
caring about what he was doing becoming antisocial from family. What the author was trying to show
here is not letting something consume you so much that you change your own values. Being that Jose

JetBlue announced it would spend $20 to $30 million in effort to appease thousands of stranded
customers that were affected. The Bill of Rights works by offering vouchers to customers who
experience delayed flights while flying with JetBlue. $25 for flights delayed one to two hours and up
to a free round trip ticket for flights delayed up to 6 hours. Will the Customer s Bill of Rights work in
recovering the image JetBlue has tried so hard to create? In my opinion, yes I do think it will. Angry
customers who had to deal with the delays on the initial happening will be provided an entire free
ticket, and customers who deal with this in the future will be provided with vouchers or tickets as
well. What else can an airline company do, errors happen and some may be out of the company s
control. The company must deal with how the error is handled and that is exactly what JetBlue is
doing.
Several actions and guidelines should be followed by JetBlue in order to insure the companies
viability and future success. The launch of the Cutover s Bill or Rights was a good step in the right
direction, but company executives must work closely with their public affairs team to raise its
awareness. JetBlue executives must also work with marketing executives to promote the Customer
Bill of Rights with large stakeholder groups and already existing customers. JetBlue executives must
support this bill of rights 100% in order to restore the company s image. This means following

more than that. Every day there are 30 percent of homeless people out on the streets wanting some
money. Some people are kind and give them money and food! Random acts of kindness are not just
for homeless people, they are for rich, poor, and maybe in the middle people too! Sometimes people
are so nice, they will pay for the people behind them in drive throughs. These little acts of kindness
can make everyone feel like a better person. In my

can benefit Broadway Cafe by identifying and analyzing the effect of these forces on its business. The
benefits include improved decision making, faster time to market, better productivity, improved
competitive advantage, more profits and greater customer satisfaction. It also helps in achieving
operational excellence. Porter s Five Forces Model Threat of Entrants Porter s First force is the threat

The supply of coffee is affected by weather conditions, and the health of coffee trees. According to the
article Coffee Industry to Adopt New Pricing Plans, the major players in the coffee industry have seen
profits decline because of over crowding of the market. An over crowded market will give the coffee
suppliers bargaining power. As Broadway Cafe demands high quality coffee and there is no
availability of substitutes for the coffee beans that Broadway Cafe use. Therefore, the bargaining
power of supplier increases. Threat of Substitute Products In the premium foods and coffees industry,
there are substitute products. According to Mary Coulter, the best way to evaluate this threat is to ask
whether other industries can satisfy the customer need that this industry is satisfying (Coulter). Other
beverage industries can satisfy the customer s need for a drink, and other food industries can satisfy
the customer s need to eat. There are obviously good substitutes to Broadway products and the threat
is high. This is why it is very important for Broadway Cafe, to innovate and differentiate. By
providing free Wi Fi in the Cafe and marketing signature food products from the famous old recipes of
Grandfather, Broadway Cafe can create different image than its competitors. Rivalry Among Existing
Competitors Porter s fifth force that Porter describes is current rivalry among existing firms. In the

  • 2. The Advantage Of Homeschooling Homeschooling is a type of education which children are taught at home, usually by their parents or tutors, instead of in conventional public or private schools. While it is common in some countries, especially America, according to the Hong Kong Education Bureau (2001), if parents stop their children from attending school without valid reasons, they might be issued with an attendance order requiring them to send their children back to school. However, as there were recently controversies over the Hong Kong educational style and the work load of students, it may be time to think of alternatives such as homeschooling. There are possible results of homeschooled children having less social skills and academic knowledge than school based students. Strong statistical analysis, however, shows that the above problems can be tackled with better planning and regulations. Contrastingly, the benefits of homeschooling are fundamental based on the flexible teaching methods and schedules so that children s interests and quality of learning could be enhanced to increase the efficiency of education. However, if homeschooling has to be popularized in Hong Kong, supportive measurements from different parties, such as more in depth teaching courses from museums, more precisely trained experts or tutor for teaching homeschoolers and more clear policy and rules set by the government to prevent neglecting of children education, are needed. In the academic field, further and more comprehensive research comparing the effectiveness of different teaching methods such as using textbooks, outing, holding discussions and doing projects is needed to help homeschooled parents to plan better schedules for their ... After much innovations of 21st century technology, Emirates establish its first A380 airbus fleet in 2010 and still expanding. Not only it accommodate a huge number of passengers, the plane, but it also uses Biofuel and quieter noise volume with thrust reversal engines, giving its passengers great flight experience. 2.5 Environmental factor The world as we know it to be is recently very ill. Due to much effect of human activity, global temperature is rising at a fast rate per year, which leads to serious changes in climate and weather. This results in aviation industries to be badly affected as the changes will lead to flight delays and bumper flights due to mid air turbulence. Thus Emirates does take this factor into serious considerations and started carrying out its Go Green plan in 2011 to reduce emition of greenhouse gases. Airplanes can cause an increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) thus Emirates carry out its flight operations using Biofuel. Though its expensive, usage of Biofuels for its engines does save for a better environment. • 5. The And Female Characters Of Candide The IA Essay How do the experiences of the women in Candide differ from those of the men? How do their reactions to those experiences differ from those of the men? Most of Voltaire s characters were able to explain why they could consider themselves as the most unhappy by providing a story of what had occurred to them. Their experiences vary from natural to man made misfortunes. However, even though, the characters reactions to their misfortunes are of a similar, the experiences between the male and female characters of Candide are quite different in regards to what is taken away from them. Throughout the novel we follow, the main character, Candide, through his journey of reuniting with his beloved Cunegonde. The journey was very dangerous because throughout the novel, Candide was flogged, forced into an army, shipwrecked, betrayed, robbed, and separated from his love Cunegonde, and tortured by the Inquisition. Most of Candide s misfortunes was mostly of robbery and abuse. Throughout the journey, Candide was able to acquire love and wealth. Though, both things were taken away from him. Cunegonde and Candide were separated frequently ever since that kiss they shared. As for the wealth, Candide kept flaunting it around and spent a lot of it unwisely. Therefore, the villainous characters in the novel were able to notice that Candide was a fool and noticed that robbing some of his wealth would be an easy task for them. In previous semesters, I feel as if I am typically a little more nervous on the first clinical experience. However, my emotions were very different starting my capstone rotation. I think this is because I know I am nearing the end of nursing school and I have much more knowledge than I did at this time two years ago. I have learned that nursing is a profession of life long learning and each day is an opportunity to learn something new. Therefore, having those ideas in mind I feel that I didn t make myself worry about what I didn t know, instead, I was excited and focused on what I was going to learn. Initially, I felt that it was best to ignore the situation because as a student I didn t want to get involved. However, after the gossip continued, attempts to resolve the issue were to state that the floor was busy and as a PCT I often get behind as well, the nurses then agreed that the unit was busy and moved on to a different conversation. The Domestic Policies of Diefenbaker and Pearson Essay Plan Compare and contrast the successes and failures of the domestic policies of Diefenbaker and Pearson John George Diefenbaker and Lester Bowles Pearson both acted as Prime Minister of Canada during the Cold War. The two were from different Canadian political parties that accorded to their beliefs and principles, Diefenbaker being a Progressive Conservative party member and Pearson a Liberal. Diefenbaker was leaning left as a Conservative, similarly to Eisenhower, who was presiding at the time, and thus shared a fair relationship with him, though the same could not be said for the US in general; Pearson s administration presided also along a Democratic administration in the US, though they clashed often due to the American actions in the Vietnam War. Diefenbaker was elected to office as his party held the greatest proportion in the Parliament, however, he won only with a minority. During his administration, Diefenbaker implemented policies that were considered liberal, most of which he was able to pass, in contrast to Pearson, who only succeeded in passing near half of his due to the majority he lacked most times in the House of Commons. Both Diefenbaker and Pearson had political experience before they became PMs, they also share a similarity in that they attempted to solidify Canada as a nation and to remove the hyphenation in Canadian citizenship; both achieving success in varying extents. Then as the car enters the IR sensor detects the car, opens the barricade for the car and reduces the number on the LED to 8. This continues till the number of the available parking lots are zero. Also when the car exits, the number on the LED is increased by 1. When the number of available spaces is 0, then if a car tries to enter, the door will not open. VII. Brazil s individual national character and rich musical tradition are the result of a profound mingling of races that has been ongoing in the country since the landing of Pedro Alvares Cabral in April 1500. Even before this event the indigenous Indians of Brazil had an already established musical culture; they sang solo and in chorus, played whistles, horns, and flutes, and beat out rhythms with hand clapping, foot stamping, rattles, beats, and drums. With the Portuguese invasion came the piano, violin, guitar, clarinet, and tambourine. These were incorporated into the musical forms of moda, modinha, acalanto, fofa, and fado, which were songs of sentiment, lullaby, and dance. Firstly, the soundtrack helps build a sense of fear by playing eyrie music, this creates tension, plus the music is playing irregularly so tension is building all the time. Moreover, the irregular music creates tension in certain places of the film to emphasise the fear at that particular moment. This means tension is constantly building. Furthermore, the normal sounds that you would hear in a city are muffled and there aren t many of them so you can stay focused on the phone booth. Moreover, The Caller s voice is much louder than usual, this makes it look as though he knows he has the power over Stu and that he has him wrapped round his finger. Secondly, the variety of camera angles makes it feel like he s being. They also change very suddenly which creates tension because you don t know where he is being watched from because the camera ... • 19. Gender Inequality In A Midsummer Night s Dream Sexuality over Centuries And though she be but little, she is fierce (3.2 335). This was said in A Midsummer Night s Dream. This represents the life women have of being perceived as small, objects, and as pointless. But as the time has gone by, women have proved to be a fierce as the Presidents of the United States. When it comes to looking at women and how they have been interpreted, the one question I have has to be why Shakespeare was against the female gander. He was a man who was raised in the 16th century so he has seen the roughness the women have to bear. He seen deal with men having numerous rights, the feeling of cross dressing to get what they desire, and also fight for their own individual rights. Looking into Shakespeare s work and interpreting his meaning behind the treatment of women, there are many forms that take place from feminist actions to the appearance that is showing women, including men, living on their daily lives. Women in the 16th century lived a life greatly different than the women of today. The normal occupation for women at the time was marriage and motherhood (McDonald 253). • 21. Analysis Of Totem By Thomas King In the short story Totem by Thomas King, the relationship between the totem pole and the museum workers is negative. The relationship is depicted as being overpowering, authoritative, and entitled when the workers continually try to remove the totem pole from the museum. Ultimately, the totem pole symbolizes the struggles and perseverance of the Indigenous people in Canada. In King s short story, the museum workers are continually trying to remove the totem pole from the museum as Walter, one of these workers, states, the totem pole is not part of the show, and we need to move it someplace else (King 14). This quote demonstrates the controlling nature of the museum workers in their ongoing pursuit to remove the totem pole from the museum, but each attempt is as successful as their last. The totem pole s ongoing struggle to survive in the museum is paralleled to the Indigenous people s ongoing struggle to survive under the oppression of Canadian settlers and governments trying to eliminate them. Another example, from the story, that shows the controlling nature of the museum workers is when Walter attempts to find the owner of the totem pole instead of just leaving it in the show. The simple notion of ownership is different in the Indigenous and non Indigenous cultures. Indigenous cultures believe that everything is to be shared and no one is an owner of anything, while the non Indigenous cultures believe that every object seemingly belongs to someone. Further, ... In the story, Gregor s father felt despondent when his son went through a metamorphosis because slowly he was getting a mind set that Grgor would never be normal again. Gregor would be left in his room ,deteriorating, feeling lonely because his family do not want to be around him. Not only does he feel lonely about being trapped in his room but he is afraid to go outside because of the dangers that prowls around out there. Thus, in Broken April, Gjorg found himself alone on the highroad; he felt all hope of ever accomplishing his journey failed within him. This shows that Gjorg is suffering from a lack of hope which is most likely caused by suffering from being alone walking all day. Next, The emptiness of the road of either side seemed emptier still... . (pg.53, Kadare). This is a revelation that emptiness is only a symbol of loneliness that the author portrays. Barabash, 2015 SCC 29 [Barabash] is a circumstantial case that centres on concerns of privacy rights involving private use, child pornography, as well as regarding the establishments of exploitation and consent. Barabash involved two fourteen year old girls who were runaways, dependant on drugs and involved in prostitution. According to Statistics Canada (2008) at the time of this case, youth aged 12 to 14 were twice as likely to experience sexual violence then that of young adults, this statistic was even higher if the victim is female (Sexual Assault, para. 4). While they were staying with two significantly older men they were involved in sexual activity that was videotaped and photographed. Under s.163.1(2) of the Criminal Code the men were charged for making child pornography as well as the older man was charged with possession of child pornography under s. 163.1(4). While the trial judge found all elements of the offences were established, the accused raised in defence the private use exception outlined in R. v. Sharpe, 2001 SCC 2 [Sharpe], which the judge failed to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt. The main reasons that people have chosen the vegetarian lifestyle are due to health, the environment, and their own personal morality. When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, it is fairly well known that proteins, iron, and vitamins are necessary to digestive system health. For many people, meat is the go to answer to get these things. However, meat is not necessary to a balanced meal if these things are consumed on a regular basis. Other sources that have an abundance of these things include leafy greens, legumes, and natural grains. The American Dietetic Association admits that Vegetarian diets are often associated with a number of health advantages, including lower blood cholesterol levels, lower risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure levels, and lower risk of hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Vegetarians tend to have a lower body mass index (BMI) and lower overall cancer rates. (American). This evidence supports the decision of becoming a vegetarian as many of the health issues in the United States revolve around these issues. Eating meat has a large negative effect on the environment.
