The Process Of Human Development
The process of human development is assessed to multiple phases which carry its own distinct set of
expectations in terms of emotional growth, psychological development, physical maturation, and
social awareness. When breaking down the lifespan into stages such as, childhood, adulthood, and late
adulthood; the breakdown seeks to bring unity to the life of human being, and ultimately help us to
understand the development of a person. Some people argue that developmental process undergoes
gradual changes based on gathering experiences and skills, while others are convinced that it
processed by influences by certain turnaround points. Everyone have a different life span
development. One s personal emotional and physical development is cumulative. The nature of
experience and development during each stage of the life span will have an impact on how following
stages are experienced for better or for worst. Early adulthood is the period of greatest energy and
abundance. Even through some people have not reach early adulthood yet, they will.
Early adulthood is considered to be between the ages of eighteen and twenty five. Development
occurs from adolescence to early adulthood. Adolescence is considered a time of confusion, uproar,
and problems. While this occurs, most people emerge from adolescence without any problems and
successfully guide the changes that attend adolescence. There are a lot of changes that take place
during adolescence, but it does not mean it is an

Slimline: Marching to a Different Drummer
April 21st, 2014
Case Summary: Globalization means different things to different people, so therefore individuals have
their own standpoints regarding various things. In this case, an issue that has arisen is the allegation of
mistreatment of employees in developing countries. Slimline is an apparel manufacturer in Sri Lanka,
which does business disparately. The company employs 5000+ employees, whom help produced $50
million worth of apparel annually. In this company, the entry level wages are set higher than the local
markets and to mention that some of their employees have undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Slimline does not have the typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Each company has chosen to participate in the joint venture rather than operate its own wholly
owned subsidiary because each joint venture partner in Slimline benefits from the others unique
knowledge and expertise. Mast industries provides a vast network of clientele, Courtaulds provides
great production power due to it being the largest apparel manufacturer in the UK, and MAS provides
Slimline with the world s first carbon neutral textile facility. Each partner brings something to the
table that the others cannot, which is why they chose to participate in the joint venture.
3. From the perspective of each of the partners, there are potential pitfalls to joining this joint venture.
Each company is grouped with two other partners, which is risky because there are greater liabilities.
If one of the partner s reputations suffers, as a result, all of the partner s reputations under Slimline
will as well suffer. They need to work as a team and continue to do what they are doing in order to
continue growing. They all have things that benefit each one, so yes there are pitfalls because without
all of the initial members of this joint venture, Slimline could face some serious issues and could have

Feminist View On Women And Marriage In Othello
Feminists believe that marriage is a source of conflict, in the play it suggests that marriageability is
most women s only road to power, the goal was to secure family, wealth, and protection from a male.
And to fulfil this, women needed to be continuously sexually attractive yet pure and modest. Once
married, it was self evident that wives should follow their husbands and be humoured by them in
return. After a wife had provided an heir, she was truly secure. This can be reflected in Iago s cynical
comment She never yet was foolish that was fair, for even her folly helped her to an heir (Othello: Act
2. Sc. 1. 7). In modern day terms, he is saying that no pretty woman can be considered stupid since
they are all clever enough to use their looks to ensnare a husband and this achieves respectability.
Feminists argument to women and marriage in the play would be that currently there are many women
who would more likely choose their career instead of chasing someone to be their husband. Women
don t need to do anything for men to feel secure. Secondly, it very much objectifies women as being
possessions to patriarchal heirs. Marxists would believe that this form of thinking is just all down to
the bourgeoisie and how marriage is an institute that allows everyone in society to have a set order and
in feminist s eyes, they view society undermining female equality.
Some modern feminist critics see Desdemona as a repugnant embodiment of the oppressed.
Desdemona herself asserts that

Forewarning
Study Two Forewarning or warning is defined as informing someone of a danger or possible problem
ahead of time. Robert Apsler and David O. Sears (1968) use forewarning to describe two different
kinds of prior warnings to subjects. The first one involves forewarning participants of the specific
situation in which the researcher is about to provide (Apsler Sears, 1968). And the other warning is
there to show the intent of a forthcoming communicated message. Such intent could be the changing
of participants attitude, but before providing participants with information about the topic or position
of the communication (Apsler Sears, 1968). But how could forewarning have any effect on a
participant s attitude? It could be that forewarning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neimeyer, Rebecca Macnair, April E. Metzler, and Karen Courchaine (1991) are researcher at
University of Florida and they came to the conclusion that individuals with high levels of prior bias,
when forewarning is enhanced and creates a resistance to persuasion, whereas it has the opposite
effect on individuals with more balanced cognitions (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991).
This differentiation forms an inconsistency for researchers, since nearly every independent variable
has increased persuasion in some situations, had no effect in others, and decreased persuasion in still
other contexts (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). To account for these inconsistencies,
researchers use The Elaboration Likelihood Model or ELM to addressed the impact of forewarning
(forewarned, unwarned) and argument quality (strong, weak) on subjects to get an honest response
(Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). And according to ELM, the results of forewarning
would vary as a direct effect from cognitive responses (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine,
1991). Although, it is not only forewarning that could cause to resistance to persuasion but person
could be motivated by the warning to be more considerate in their own positions as participants, while
generating points of view in supporting their own stands and opposing alternative

Solubility Product Constant Lab Report
Determine the solubility product constant (Kā‚›ā‚š) of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)ā‚‚) by using the
concentrations of calcium and hydroxide found during titration.
The solubility product constant, or Kā‚›ā‚š, represents the level at which a substance dissolves in a solution
at equilibrium. A higher Kā‚›ā‚š value means the more soluble a substance is in a solution. The solubility
product constant, similar to solubility, is temperature dependent. When writing the expression for Kā‚›ā‚š
solids and liquids do not appear since their concentrations do not change, only aqueous solutions are
expressed.
The Kā‚›ā‚š equation would be written as Kā‚›ā‚š= [C]^c[D]^d. The reason the reactant aA is not included is
because it is a solid, therefore not represented in the expression. ... Show more content on

So the 0.050 concentration of HCl affects how fast the rate of solubility will occur. If there was a
higher concentration the faster the reaction would occur.
The temperature affects how effective the solute molecules break apart. The higher the temperature the
more kinetic energy is formed, which increases the effectiveness of finding the solubility constant.
If the Ca(OH)ā‚‚ was not filtered correctly during the experiment the concentrations of the experiment
would be off. If cloudiness still remained in the solute after filtration then the more HCl would have
been used to find the solubility of calcium hydroxide. Filtering correctly helps with the effectiveness
of breaking apart molecules to find specific concentrations to find the total solubility product constant.
The best option to finding the correct final product is to filter until clear.
If too much or too little of the saturated solute was used how could that affect the experiment? More
solute means more solvent, but however, with the final calculations, the final product should be the
same if data was recorded

between 1919 and 1941...
The nature of industrialisation in the 1930s
The nature of industrialisation changed in the 1930s. In the 1920s industrialisation had occurred
because of free enterprise and big business. But with the onset of the Depression, industrial output fell
dramatically. (statistics needed). To combat this, the federal government adopted a role of directly
stimulating industrial growth. The Public Works Administration (PWA) instituted in began many large
industrial projects with the aim of spurring the economy and providing many jobs. The Tennessee
Valley Authority (TVA) was a federal project to energise the economy through a massive industrial
scheme sponsored by the federal government. Twenty five dams were built to reshape the land and
generate hydro electricity, which could further contribute to industrial growth. Another example of
government leadership of industry was the National Recovery Administration (NRA), which
attempted to foster industrial growth through the creation of codes for each industry. These federal
programs fundamentally changed the nature of industrialisation. In the 1930s, the government s
approach to industrialisation was more akin to socialist state style industrialisation than it was to the
American capitalism style industrialisation of the 1920s. Further, the federal government s

Theme Of Imperialism In Avatar
In James Cameron s Avatar the idea of imperialism is displayed strongly through the measures that the
humans take to overpower the land and the people of Pandora. Imperialism is when a group of people
believe that they are superior, and see others as inferior. This leads to them thinking that they have the
entitlement to take what they want. This is shown in the movie Avatar when the humans think that
they are more superior and take away important landmarks to the Na Vi people,Such as Home Tree.
The the idea of imperialism is shown, when the humans destroyed Home Tree, the living area of the
Na Vii. Home Tree is also sitting on a large mass of unobtainium, which is a grey rock that is found on
the land of Pandora. On earth this rock sells for 20 million per kilogram and the humans are in
desperate need for it. We can see this through dialogue and mise en scene. It is shown when Parker
Selfridge (The head of administration for the RDA) explained to Grace (the head of the science for the
RDA on Pandora). That the only reason her science is taking place is because the little grey rock sells
for 20 million per kilogram . At this point in the film there is a close up shot of the unobtainium
floating on a magnet, this makes it look highly important and of great value. James Cameron has used
this film technique of lighting to illuminate the unobtainium. We can also see through character
actions that some of the humans do not care about the Na Vi. This is shown when they were

Justice In The Boondock Saints
Never shall innocent blood be shed, yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The saints,
Connor and Murphy MacManus abide by this rule. Their religious beliefs and intentions dispatch the
two brothers into a world where evil is not tolerated. God sends them to murder every wicked citizen
in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. The Boondock Saints is a movie about religion, family, and
vigilante justice.
The Irish Catholic fraternal twins, Connor and Murphy MacManus, go on a mission to fight for
justice. Along the way, their friend named Rocco, collaborates with the twins, referred to as The
Saints, to clear Boston s evil individuals. The three friends continue their quest together while
murdering dozens of mafia members. Paul Smecker, FBI Agent, is incredibly excellent at what he
does. He can figure out any scenario of a crime scene by just observing it. The Saints and Rocco are
pursued by Agent Smecker. Connor and Murphy begin the family prayer on behalf of Rocco s death,
dramatically they are reunited with their father, Il Duce, who then finishes the family prayer.
Naturally, the brothers attended Sunday morning mass. Connor and Murphy kneel and pray while
everyone else at the church are sitting, listening to the story of Kitty Genovese. Inappropriately, they
stroll up to the front of the Catholic Church in the middle of mass, getting concerned looks from
people at the altar. One starts to get up, but is stopped by the person next to him as he whispers

Analysis Of The Dance Field By Frank Lloyd Wright
On May 11, 1894 in Allegany City, Pennsylvania soon to be Pittsburg, Pennsylvania a legend was
born. Little did Jane and George Graham know that their last name would have worldwide recognition
thanks to their daughter, Martha. Martha Graham s work in the dance field has been compared to
Picasso s work in visual arts, Frank Lloyd Wright s work in architecture, and the influence of
Stravinsky on music. The Graham family moved to California in the 1910 s, and when Graham was
17, she went to see her first ever dance performance. She saw Ruth St. Denis, a modern dance pioneer,
perform in Los Angeles. Graham was so inspired that she begged her parents to allow her to study
dance. Being strong Presbyterians, her parents didn t exactly support the idea. Despite what her
parents thought, Graham enrolled herself in an arts oriented junior college. After her father died, she
started attending the new Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by St. Denis and
her husband, Ted Shawn. What Graham learned there would fundamentally shape her dancing style
moving forward. Pretty soon Graham s technique was strong enough to start working professionally as
a dancer. Her passionate, emotional performance style gained her the attention of the nation. As the
years progressed, Graham transitioned from performer to choreographer. The life of a dancer isn t
always well funded, so when Graham was offered teaching opportunities in New York City, she took
them. In 1926, at age

Modern Day Commercial Firms Have A System Of Computer...
Background to the Study Many modern day commercial firms have a system of computer based
network to track the activities of their employees at the workplace. Employers can track the emailing
and browsing history alongside any other activity carried out by an employee using computers even if
they clear the history (Reynolds, 2011). Companies are on the run to come up with strict policies to
track the use of the computers among employees. Some firms argue that computer based monitoring is
important although it is quite expensive to install and maintain (Hugl, 2013).
The fact that the internet is becoming one of the major business components, it has become critical for
firms to monitor how employees use it. Research indicates that a larger percentage of employers
monitor how their employees use the internet while at work. Over the last one decade, the percentages
of employers who have restricted their employees access to the company website have increased
significantly. They prefer computer based monitoring arguing that computers can handle a large
volume of data. Cangemi (2012) adds CM systems use automated advanced analytics to sift through
the large volumes of structured data, such as financial transactions, that comprise a large part of their
big data (p. 35). According to them, computer monitoring has become critical to reduce cases of
critical information from the company leaking to unwanted third parties (Lyon, 2008). The rise of the
internet has brought a chain of

A Mandatory Aspect When Managing Patients
A mandatory aspect when managing patients is to provide a provisional diagnosis illustrating,
diagnostic uncertainty. Analysis of the mechanism and pattern of injury give an understanding of
obvious, underlying and life threatening traumatic injuries, whilst vital signs and patient presentation
allow for a firm diagnosis. Once diagnosed, an understanding of the pathophysiological processes, of a
particular condition is essential for adequate treatment. The pathophysiological implications provide a

Being in an intoxicated, physiological state, with an inability to communicate effectively makes
diagnosis complicated. Underlying injuries could exist as his, neurological functioning and pain
threshold has been altered. Nickleston (2012) explains Backward falls on the buttocks cause trauma to
the spine, pelvis, hips, and head .
A provisional diagnosis for this patient s initial contact with the concrete, is a concussion and a coup
contusion due to the blunt trauma and inertial forces he has accumulated. The patient s physical
mechanism of injury is impact loading, which can cause compressive, shearing and twisting forces on
the brains tissue. These injuries are most commonly associated with acceleration / deceleration forces
and blunt force trauma. His history illustrates a concussion based on the symptoms, a brief loss of
consciousness, confusion, nausea, headaches and feeling sluggish. According to Bullock and Hales
(2013) A concussion is a transient alteration in cerebral function without structural defect that manifest
as a loss of consciousness followed by rapid recovery (p.195). The patient has suffered structural
defects suggesting more severe injuries, coup contusions of greater size are commonly associated with
haematomas.
A secondary provisional diagnosis based on the physical assessment alone, indicates a skull laceration
or contusion, potential skull fracture, and intracranial haematoma. Haemorrhaging due to a tear in the

Mr. Villars s Letter For Evelina
There are many times throughout the novel that Mr. Villars makes decisions for Evelina against his
better judgement, thus dismissing any claims that he was motivated for selfish reasons. In response to
Lady Howard s request for Evelina to spend some time in a visit at Howard Grove, Mr. Villars replied,
it has been my study to guard her against their delusions, by preparing her to expect and despise them.
But the time draws on for experience and observation to take the place of instructions . . . She is now
of an age that happiness is eager to attend, let her enjoy it! I commit her to the protection of your
Ladyship... (Burney 13). Despite his instinct to keep Evelina protected, he allows her to leave the
country for new experiences. Mr. Villars releases his apprehension, something worthy of
acknowledgement at the very least, and expresses his belief that there is merit to experience and
observation. This concept would not sit well with a man who is motivated by patriarchal control and
female dependency, but it does with Mr. Villars. When Lady Howard later inquires to unite Evelina
with her father, Sir John Belmont, Mr. Villars begins his response by stating, On the fatal day that her
gentle soul left its mansion, and not many hours ere she ceased to breathe, I solemnly plighted my
faith, That her child if it lived, should know no father, but myself, or her acknowledged husband,
(Burney 105). Against his adamant belief that Evelina should be kept from Sir John Belmont,

Describe The Importance Of Volunteering
UNDERSTANDING VOLUNTEER WORK
Volunteering is when a person out of his own will spends his time and makes an effort to help people
in his community and has no expectation of a reward in return. It also involves several individuals
pulling their resources together for a cause. Volunteering can be done individually, or by groups of
people who come together to form what is known as Non Profit Organizations. Volunteering has
recognition all over the world for the positive impact it has on both the volunteer and the volunteered.
They are several ways of volunteering ones service and the rewards that comes with it are also many.
Let s start by examining the different forms of volunteering.
Forms of Volunteering

One of the importance of volunteering is how healthy it makes one feel. You might wonder how this
works. It is believed that, those who volunteer feel more happy ,proud and confident of themselves
knowing that they are doing something good to help others aside themselves. This sense of happiness
makes them more relaxed and refreshed and this helps the human system to work more efficiently.
Volunteering offers an opportunity for people to meet and make new friends. As you go along with
people to communities to offer your services, you interact with them and get closer to them and
through that make friends. And as we all know, having friends to count on in times of difficulties can
be one of the comforting things in life. Also, we can even make friends from the people we go out to
help and this indeed expands our social networks.
Through volunteering, one may learn something new. This can be new skills such as problem solving
skills, project planning, assignment management etc. Again, one can also discover new things about
one s oneself such as, an ability to cope with difficult situations and also discover things about the
world, new cultures and appreciate people

The Sun Also Rises By Ernest Hemingway
The Sun Also Rises
Ernest Hemingway
Introduction
Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises is a classic work of American prose, and is essential to
understanding the social climate of the 1920 s, and the Lost Generation . Hemingway s motley cast of
star crossed lovers, rabble rousers, expatriates, gamblers, and burgeoning alcoholics reflect the
excitement, loneliness, and disillusionment experienced by Hemingway and his contemporaries. In
addition, the post war angst of young people of the time is illustrated throughout all of the characters,
affecting their lives and developing them as people. Because of this, The Sun Also Rises is now
considered one of the best novels to come out of the era, as well as one of the most important
American works of all time.
Summary The Sun Also Rises begins in 1920 s Paris, with Jake Barnes describing his friend, Rob
Cohn. He likes Cohn but criticizes him, saying he wasted his money, and is boring and plain. Cohn is
writing his novel while in Paris, but once he finishes, he travels back to the United States to find a
publisher for his book, which he does, and also finds social success in New York, something he felt he
was lacking in Paris. Upon his return, He and Barnes travel to a nightclub in the city, and Barnes sees
his friend, Brett Ashley, a beautiful, intelligent and modern woman whom both Jake and Cohn have

The Prestige Film Analysis
Intro to Cinema Midterm The film The Prestige is one of many masterful Nolan films that walks the
line between being a meta film about the film industry, and being focused on immersing the audience
in the actual content of the film. At a close inspection, comparisons to the film industry can be seen,
but they are not so obvious to distract the audience from the central conflicts that are at the forefront
of the film. The subject of the film could most easily be defined as surrounding the topics of obsession
or fame. More specifically, the obsession of fame, and the illusion of happiness that fame projects. The
main characters of the movie both urn for the fame of being the world s most successful entertainer,
even if for different reasons. The editing of the movie allows for the audience to have a unique
perspective of how the events transpire. The non chronological order of the film allows the audience
to see the effects before the causes, and to see the deception through a non linear lens. The events are
lined up in a manner that is more like the recollection of memories, than the linear nature of recorded
film. By using the two journals as a form of narrative we can see what we think is the inner
monologue of the different characters, or rather what about themselves they want to reveal to each
other. It is this nature of editing that allows us to slowly understand the secretes of the film in a unique
way. The film shows the answers to questions before they are asked

Z For Zachariah
The post apocalyptic sci fi novel, Z for Zachariah , by Robert C. O Brien, was the source material for
the fourth feature length from director Craig Zobel who gained some notoriety with his previous film
Compliance . If Mr. Zobel was far from impressing me with the latter, he doesn t do much better in
this one. Instead of the teenage protagonist of the book, Zobel and his screenwriter, Nissar Modi, opt
for an adult version of the character, played by the unrecognizable Margot Robbie who has generated
some buzz with her small but memorable part in The Wolf of Wall Street . In this brittle thriller, she s

A certain day, however, she bumps into a skittish man, John (Chiwetel Ejiofor), who rushes into
contaminated waters. She gently takes care of him when he falls sick, praying fervently to God to save
him. At a first glance, John seemed a tricky guy, acting suspiciously, sometimes bossy, and even
aggressive when he gets drunk. Ann, in need of physical contact and considering the repopulation of
the Earth, urges him into sex, but he disappoints her in that particular aspect. Ultimately, he falls in
love with her, but what could have been a relaxing life in duo, is turned upside down when another
stranger, Caleb (Chris Pine), arrives to compete for the last existing woman, bringing tiny portions of
tension into their little paradise. Thrills are scarce, and every attempt to make them work out falls into
dullness and conventional. This is aggravated by the fact that the film, beyond predictable, lingers on
lukewarm situations for an eternity, where we never feel real empathy for the characters or perceive
any sustainable passion sprouting from the love

The Impact Of Indians During The Colonial Americas Essay
The Impact of Indians in the Colonial Americas Many historians speculate that about 20,000 years ago
Paleo Indians migrated to America. How they made the journey is highly speculated as well. Some
believe it was by a land bridge between Asia and Northern America while others believed the Paleo
Indians to have migrated via boat. However, how they arrived is not what matters, but what is
important is that the Paleo Indians made it to the Americas where they began establishing their own
civilizations. Around 1492, however, countries like Spain, Britain, and France began exploring for
new lands to colonize . The lands they discovered were already inhabited by Indians, who are
portrayed as the bad guy more times than not. Yet, one could argue that they are the opposite of that.
Yes, colonists and Indians shared their differences, but if it were not for the Indians many of the
colonists and colonizations would have never survived. One of the major countries to colonize in the
Americas was Spain. Spain would actually go on to conquer and colonize many areas and establish
one of the largest empires in all of the Americas. But the way in which they went about doing so was
completely unnecessary according to Bartolome de Las Casas. Bartolome actually wrote In Defense of
the Indians which was one of the first works in which a person from a colonizing nation argued for the
rights of the indigenous people (Indians or Native Americans in this case) of the region that was being

Essay on The Unreality of MTV s The Real World
The Unreality of MTV s The Real World
This is the true story, of seven strangers, picked to live in a house, and have their lives taped, to find
out what happens when people stop being polite, and start getting real (MTV). This marks the
beginning of MTV s reality show, The Real World. The show takes 7 strangers, puts them in a trendy
luxurious home, taping them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for about 4 months. The cameras capture
petty arguments, late night hook ups, and pure laziness. How could this not be real? There are not
many people that can live in an expensive home while laying around all day, and partying all night
with little work involved. The Real World is a display of 18 24 year olds, typecasted to have their most

If you are gay and have a little flare to you, it will usually be turned into flamboyant. The minority,
usually African American, turns into the angry black person that believes everyone in the world is
racist. Of course, the virgin tends to have a religious background and is seen as naive and closed
minded. All the drama is usually stirred up by the drama queen who thinks everyone is out to get
him/her or think they can rule the house. The party gets started with the frat boy who frequents local
clubs and is the life of the party. If you already have stereotypes formed in your head of these
particular types of people, MTV does a great job of intensifying those character flaws.
On the apposing side, The Real World does put a group of diverse people into a house and forces them
to live with one another while trying to get along. Many people that are on the show have never been
around African Americans or homosexuals. Even if the cast members do not get along they at least
have to make an effort to make it work during the duration of the show. This aspect of the show is
good for viewers to see, and is a good learning tool. There are a lot of closed minded individuals in the
world today that would never think of living with such a diverse group of individuals. Viewers can
watch the cast and see that there is a different world out there. There are a lot of issues that are
displayed on the show as well.

Agrippina The Younger Analysis
Julia Augusta Agrippina, or more commonly, Agrippina the Younger was a Roman empress consort
and one of the most distinguished women of the Julio Claudian dynasty. In her earlier years,
Agrippina, as well as her mother and older brother, were remorsly mistreated by Emperor Tiberius,
who was only a stepson of Augustus. She would have learned at her mother s knee to despise usurpers
who were not direct descendants of Augustus. Historians have long suspected that a childhood spent
steeped in fear and resentment may have driven Agrippina in her determination to rule rather than
suffer the whims of a ruler. Agrippina the Younger has been described by both ancient sources and
modern scholars as ruthless, aggressive, violent, and domineering. With ... Show more content on

Modern historians have suggested that Claudius ruled with far more effectiveness than the ancient
sources credit him, Suetonius speaks of his ruling as carefree and unstrategetic as commented by
Cassius Dio, Agrippina was adorned with various honors such as the title of Augusta appointed by
Claudius himself. During the reign of Claudius, Augustus was sometimes used as a name for men of
noble birth, making Agrippina the first living consort of a living emperor to receive such an honor as
well as one of the first women to challenge the social structure of Rome, thus giving Agrippina a role
of stature far beyond normally achievable. Being allowed the right to use the carpentum at festivals, as
well as other honors was an uncommon privilege that could only be given by the Senate, it represented
power and wealth that not many women could have. Agrippina s role during the reign of Claudius has
been described as influential and aspiring during such a traditional period in time. Claudius favored
her so, allowing her to take some rein in his politics and his ruling. It has been said that Claudius was
presented as having a sluggish uxoriousness according to Tacitus. Tacitus further suggests that under
Agrippina, Rome was transformed and it was confirmed that Agrippina ruled with an almost

Paulo Freire s The Banking Concept Of Education
One topic that is widely debated today is education and how well children are being taught. This is a
hard thing to improve because every child learns differently. So how do you create a system to fit
everyone s needs? A man named Paulo Freire studied the educational system and points out it s flaws
in his essay, The Banking Concept of Education where he explains how children are being taught and
proposes a better method. Mike Rose in his essay, I Just Want To Be Average explains in detail his
experiences in the school system and the problems he sees in school systems.
In his essay The Banking Concept of Education Freire describes the faults in our current educational
system and the method he believes should replace it. He shows how the banking concept of education
creates an environment where students just receive and store information, but never question why
things are the way they are. Then goes on to explain how in the banking concept teachers act as if they
are superior to the students by referring to teachers as oppressors and students as oppresses. In his
essay Freire also gives a solution to the problems he describes in the banking concept. It s called the
problem posing method and it is an interactive way of learning where your mind is more engaged.
This is a liberating educational experience where teachers and students are equal. That the teacher
learns with the student and encourages them. He then describes how these two different methods

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Eclectic Theory
Abstract This article is a short overview of the Eclectic theory or ideology of teaching English. A
discovery of where the origins of the philosophy were born, and why it evolved and stayed alive in
many fields of study to this day.. While many old school linguists see it as un principled and vague
without any structure, is does have strong concepts and principles about language acquisition and
learning environments, choices of activities and reasons for these varieties, A look at what prominent
linguists say about the advantages and the disadvantages of this theory.

Then there are standards of achievement which make it inconceivable that any single method could
achieve optimum success in all learning environments. Alan Maley (1983) said: Teachers need to offer
a variety of activities, techniques, and tasks in teaching to give equal opportunities to students with
different styles of learning so all students progress. Girard, (1972) said: Rather than fish in one
linguistic stream, we should cast our pedagogical net in all waters that might bring us in a profitable
catch (Dillon, J. M., and A. A. Long, 2004). It is a whole integrated approach, for example, a listening
activity with coordinated speaking or singing and supplementary features like pronunciation and form
of the language. In this regard Canale and Swain rightly said about the four dimensions of
communicative competence, grammar competence, sociolinguistic competence, discourse
competence, and strategic competence (Richard, 1986, p.71). It is hard to sum up Eclectic theory in a
few sentences. It is not a scientific drill or methodology nor it a teaching tool or a learning method for
the learners. The causes for change in language teaching, and in new language teaching methods, lie,
in this view, in the main with social, political or philosophical factors (Pennycook, A.1989). Critical
pedagogy is, wary of progressivism concepts characteristic in second language teaching. With the
inception of applied linguistics, along with the concept of a scientific kind of language teaching
philosophies changed. This was seen prominently in the audio lingual methodology. Proponents of the
audio lingual method (ALM) thought that they could validate their teaching techniques by claiming
that the method was based on scientific

The Efficiency Of Human Resource Management Department
The efficiency of human resource management department is improved. The main factors that affect
the work efficiency of human resources management department include: monthly payroll calculation

transactions tend to continue to occupy a large number of human resource management personnel.
Manual operation is not only inefficient and error prone, the application of information technology in

human resource managers to time, freed from the daily affairs of the management personnel.
Information technology emphasizes employee self service, if the employee s personal information has

after a certain approval, the program can take effect. Similarly, for the training, holiday applications,
reimbursement and other day to day administrative affairs can also be used for similar processing.
This not only reduces the workload of human resources management for data acquisition, validation
and update, but also to ensure the quality of the data and data update speed. This greatly improves the

The Rise Of The Civil Rights Movement
In 1960, there were tremendous of social ferment that was responsible for agitation and protest.
Through direct protest, many African Americans, women, and homosexuals were able to gain
recognition and break down the walls of discrimination and segregations. Out of the numerous
elements that arose in the 1960s, there are three movements that truly affected the American society.
Firstly, the rise of the civil rights movement was greatly influenced by racial discrimination of colored
people in the South. Secondly, the women s movement aimed to convince the society that women are
capable of achieving and maintaining higher waged job like males. Lastly, the gay rights movement
aimed to gain acceptance and stop discrimination of homosexuality. The most significant effect on the
development of American society was the women s movement and how they expanded their economic
and political opportunities. The common goal among African Americans, women s, and homosexuals
was to obtain their equal rights as citizens of America and to desegregate all the boundaries between
white and black population.
The civil rights movement was one of the main elements that were responsible for agitation and
protest that greatly expanded in the 1960s. This social movement originated among black Americans
in the South who faced racial discrimination and segregation, or the separation of whites and blacks,
in almost every aspect of their lives ( Protests in the 1960s, 3). There was constant racial

How Did The Economy Affect The Mexican Economy
Decades later, another series of events led to a new wave of feminists. In the 1970 s, Mexico became

uncontrollable point. Intending to boost the country s economy, the Lopez Portillo administration
spent vast amounts of public spending on electricity generation, construction, the mining industry, and

of their large amounts of oil. The world oil market collapsed, and with it, the Mexican economy. In

Since husbands were away, the mothers became the heads of the family. Despite earning less than their
male counterparts, women tended to invest their money in the needs of the household, rather than

Because many men often migrated to other parts of the country or bordering countries to find better

Comparison Of The Prince And The Prince
Niccolo Machiavelli is an Italian diplomat who wrote in Italy s Florentine Republic for fourteen years
during the Medici Family s ruling. Established father of modern political theory he is most well
known for his book The Prince a hand book for monarchs on how to rule. However, that is not is only
work. Machiavelli also wrote The Discourses a novel based on republic and how to properly govern
using it. Many read The Prince and The Discourses and claim them to be direct contradictories of each
other but upon further analysis it can be said that they actually bare more consistencies. In The Prince
and Discourses Machiavelli goes over the proper method of ruling for both a monarchy and a republic,
also examining the nature of man. The purpose of each work is not to discredit or prove better than the
other but merely examples of how to rule under whichever form of government is chosen. Looking
closely as the principles set forth by Machiavelli in these works one will see that they have a large
number of parallels. In both of his works The Prince and The Discourses Machiavelli discusses the
ways to rule both as a monarchy and as a republic. In The Discourses Machiavelli describes a good
republic as being a government where The Prince, Nobility, and The People fall under the same
constitution in a form of checks and balances, which refers to counterbalancing influences by which a

An Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Cathedral
A Cynics Enlightenment
Raymond Carver s short story Cathedral is outwardly about a pessimistic man, whose wife s blind
visitor named Robert changes the narrators predisposing perception of the world and awakes a new
view on life in the process. But inwardly, the story is about the desperate need for connection between
these three characters, which isn t feasible do to the emotional detachment by the narrator. In the
beginning, the narrator is hindered by his prejudices which doesn t allow him connect to anything
greater than himself. But with the help of the blind man who is able to see the greater truth, since he s
incapable of having his perception distorted based on outer appearance; allows him to teach the
narrator the difference between looking and seeing. Carver is proclaiming that when we open
ourselves to new ways of connecting with others, and new ways of viewing at the world, we can have
hugely rewarding experiences.
The Cathedral defines what it really means to be blind . First, being the blind man who literally cannot
see because he is disabled. And then what it means to be emotionally blind like the narrator. The
narrator possesses very shallow, ignorant, and careless qualities which then makes him form harsh
prejudices upon people. And that s the root to his blinders. And him having these prejudices denies
him of connecting with anyone or anything, then distancing him from the world. He generalizes all of
his opinions, making him believe if you ve seen

The Background Of The Rorschach Inkblot Test
Background: German psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Hermann Rorschach, was the brains behind the
commonly known, Rorschach Inkblot Test . The Inkblot Test was designed and published in 1927 and
is comprised of ten inkblots projected on cards with five of them being in black and white and the
other five in color. The purpose of this test is to be able to assess underlying psychological issues that
someone might be reluctant to divulge directly. This test developed into a test that assesses personality
traits of individuals ranging from ages five to adults by means of projecting their own emotions onto
these unambiguous figures . Originally, Rorschach designed this test to produce a profile for people
suffering from mental disorders, like schizophrenia and Rorschach himself was dissatisfied with using
it as a projective test. The combination of altering a test into something it was not designed to do and
the test yielding extremely subjective and variable responses, it has stirred up quite a bit of
controversy as to whether this psychological measure is actually reliable and valid. In an effort to give
this test validity, many tried to create a scoring system to provide reliability and validity. None seemed
to be successful alone, however in 1973, American Psychologist, John E. Exner M.S., B.S., devised a
scoring system in which he combined the best components of the main five scoring systems at the
time. Exner published the paper, The Rorschach: A Comprehensive System,

kalasgramensis, H. tytleri and F. nepalensis were successfully amplified, for COI gene only E.
kalagramensis was successfully amplified. Amplified products were sequenced and the product length
was 553bp, 523bp and 521bp base pair long for 16S rRNA gene for E. kalasgramensis, H. tytleri and
F. nepalensis, respectively and 612 bp long COI gene of E. kalasgramensis. The sequences were
transferred to FASTA format and BLASTED within nucleotide database for the authentication and
matched in a range of 98% 100% for consensus sequence of the three species. GenBank based
identification yielded an alignment E value of 0.0. The overall ampliļ¬cation and sequencing success
of the CO1 primers was low compared to the 16S gene. After several attempt COI gene was successful
to amplify only for one species.
For the clarification of the candidate species status, detailed phylogenetic analyses was performed and
a 16S and COI divergence survey were conducted for each family using 16S and COI data from the
DNA database data. Among the examined family, it was observed that for 16S rRNA based
phylogenetic tree all the members formed clade according to their taxonomy. Only

The Putney Debates of 1647
Arguments proposed by the Grandees in the simulated debate included justifications and further
defense of the original Grandees arguments. The chief topics to focus on include the importance of
immovable property and vested interests, the threat of anarchy from universal incorporation, and the
essential definition of tacit consent. All aspects of these arguments set out to make the demands of the
Levellers appear unobtainable at the time. When analyzing each topic, the drastic difference of the
Levellers and Grandees are discovered, along with certain similarities that make both sides appear not
so different in ideology. Most importantly, each argument was essential to democracy then, as they are
in today s modern society. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The type of consent expressed by an individual did not matter in relevance to their level or
authorization of participation. The main ideal behind tacit consent for the Grandees involved enjoying
the laws that govern the land and protecting citizens from outside influence. These points
automatically made one subjective to the decree of the government, which in this sense required one
to have immovable property in order to have a vote. Along with the idea of tacit consent, the Grandees
highlighted the difference between birthrights and natural rights with the latter not including the right
to vote. For the Levellers, the benefits of birthrights appeared to sufficiently warrant their ability to
take part in voting, but simply being born in England no longer meant allowed for their selection of
leaders and officials. In relation to democracy, the type of consent present in a government should be
expressed, but when the components of a recent civil war and the possibility of another are present
certain types of consent can only be allowed. Furthermore, the Grandees have effectively identified
which measures and precautions to take in order to prevent future conflict in England, which included
ignoring the expressed consent of the citizens. Along with identifying the consent of the populace, the
Grandees accepted the service of the Levellers in the civil war as consenting to government and being
subjective to its

Australia Post Executive Summary
Executive Summary
Early into his tenure as Australia Post CEO, Ahmed Fahour recognised that the postal services
industry was in a state of transition and the organisation needed an urgent change in direction if it was
to survive in the long term. The extremely challenging landscape for the national carrier led Fahour to
focus his efforts on innovative solutions with the potential to transform Australia Post s business
model and strategically position the organisation in the heart of the digital economy. The focus on
internally developing strategic capabilities through innovation has seen a shift towards the
prioritisation of its workforce engagement and diversity, which Fahour believes are paramount for
businesses looking to make innovative changes. Technology continues to pose significant
opportunities and threats for the postal services industry, and while it has been a major disruptor by
eroding mail volumes, on the other hand, the rapid uptake of online shopping has boosted industry
performance resulting in exponential growth in demand for parcel delivery services. The following

Analysis Of Killings By Andre Dubus
Families are one of the most important things in life. We have parents, kids, crazy uncles, and weird
cousins, but that doesn t change how it would feel to lose one of them. In the short story Killings,
Richard Strout kills Frank Fowler and then suddenly disappears. Matt Fowler, Frank s father, is
suspected of murdering Richard and hiding all the evidence. After losing his son, Matt and his family
grieved over the loss of their loved one wanted to see Richard Strout where he belonged, or at least
out of sight. Although the story doesn t reveal what happens to Matt Fowler after Richard Strout is
dead, all the evidence, Matt s PGD, his thirst for revenge, and how he believes the system has failed
him when Richard was able to walk free, makes him guilty of killing Richard Strout.
In Killings, Andre Dubus writes about the events just leading up to Richard Strout s disappearance.
Matt Fowler was happily married and had three children. One of his sons, Frank Fowler, entered into a
relationship with a woman named Mary Ann Strout, who was in the process of getting a divorced with
Richard Strout. Once Richard found out about his wife and Frank, he killed Frank out of anger. He
was then arrested and then got on bail. Matt Fowler and the rest of his family were not too pleased to
see their loved one s murderer was walking free. Matt was getting drinks at his friends, Willis,
restaurant one night and found out where Strout works. So they sat outside his work and waited for
him to come

I Know About Breeding A Dog Essay
In 2015 for christmas I had recieved a female Australian Shepherd puppy. She is a blue merle with
brown eyes. When I first got her I loved her and couldn t wait for her to be old and have puppies of
her own. What I didn t understand is how difficult of a process it was to get a dog bred. I didn t know
the first thing about breeding a dog. However if I wanted my dog to have puppies then I needed to
learn about it.
I know that a dog comes in heat roughly every six months. I know it is during that time period the they
would get bred. Some things I have heard from my family was that a bitch has to be bred at certain
times. They will only stand and allow breeding a certain numbers of days. I have no knowledge of
when that takes place. I know that a bitch s cycle can last for weeks. The only way I would know
when my dog needs bred is to put her in with a male and see if she allows him to breed her.
When you don t have a male dog that is hard to do. Picking a male for her is a hard task. When
breeding Australian Shepherd you have to be cautious about which types are bred. I know that you
should not breed a merle to a merle because it cause defects. I am not for sure why this happens so
picking a dog needs to be done carefully.
Section II
When researching my question the first thing that needs to be looked up is a partner. I first looked up
the proper partner for a blue merle. Australian Shepherds can only be breed between certain type. If
the wrong ones are bred it can

Loss of Species Due to the Biodiversity Crisis
The seriousness of the current biodiversity crisis and the increasingly loss of species diversity have
aroused the boldness in conservationists to propose not so conservative solutions. Such as an attempt
to restore in our present environment the wildlife diversity lost in the Pleistocene period. This
proposal is incited by Donlan et al. (2006) that call for restoration of missing ecological functions and
evolutionary potential of lost North American megafauna using extant conspecifics and related taxa .
This essay will discuss the possible positive effects brought by the Pleistocene rewilding and its major
impediments. And it is perceptible that the obstacles in translocating species similar to those that have
been extinct for millennia in North America are so many, and its plausibility so controversial, that this
adventurous proposal requires a lot of reflection and scientific labor before being considered a
reasonable solution.
In the Americas, many mammals and their commensals were lost in the end of the Pleistocene epoch,
about 13,000 years ago (Martin 2005) and with them, many ecosystem processes and services were
lost. The Pleistocene rewilding intends to bring back the biodiversity that vanished 13,000 years ago,
reinstituting ecological and evolutionary processes that were transformed or eliminated by megafaunal
extinctions (Donlan et al. 2006). Pleistocene rewilders also advocate this conservation strategy based
on aesthetic and ethical grounds; they argue that

Origin Of The Word Hoosier Analysis
Hoosier is one of those odd words where everyone seems to know what it refers to, but no one really
knows what it means. Most know that it has been adopted to refer to Indianaians, but its true meaning
and origin are a mystery. This mystery is what intrigued J.P. Dunn and prompted him to write Origin
of the Word Hoosier. In his work, Dunn makes the argument that there is no true known origin of the
word. Dunn believes that the true stories are nothing more than legends warped by time and the facts
that people believe cannot be proved to be anything more than just theory. The first fact, based upon
the legend of the word hoosier, is that the word was originally used as a slang term to describe a
rough, uneducated class of people. This belief has stemmed from the reasoning that a great many of
the legends describe the character of the people labeled hoosier as childish and uncivilized. One such
legend is told by Mrs. C. W. Bean. She recalls, One of my aunts said, What a lot of hoosiers there are
in town. In surprise, I asked, Why, I am a Hoosier. ? A horrified look came over my aunt s face, and
she exclaimed, For the Lord s sake, child, don t let anyone here know that you are a hoosier. I did not
make the claim again, for on closer inspection the visitors proved to be a wild looking lot who might
be suspected of never having seen civilization before. (88) Mrs. Bean s story supports the idea that the
word hoosier originally depicts the uneducated, as her

  • 2. The Process Of Human Development The process of human development is assessed to multiple phases which carry its own distinct set of expectations in terms of emotional growth, psychological development, physical maturation, and social awareness. When breaking down the lifespan into stages such as, childhood, adulthood, and late adulthood; the breakdown seeks to bring unity to the life of human being, and ultimately help us to understand the development of a person. Some people argue that developmental process undergoes gradual changes based on gathering experiences and skills, while others are convinced that it processed by influences by certain turnaround points. Everyone have a different life span development. One s personal emotional and physical development is cumulative. The nature of experience and development during each stage of the life span will have an impact on how following stages are experienced for better or for worst. Early adulthood is the period of greatest energy and abundance. Even through some people have not reach early adulthood yet, they will. Early adulthood is considered to be between the ages of eighteen and twenty five. Development occurs from adolescence to early adulthood. Adolescence is considered a time of confusion, uproar, and problems. While this occurs, most people emerge from adolescence without any problems and successfully guide the changes that attend adolescence. There are a lot of changes that take place during adolescence, but it does not mean it is an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each company has chosen to participate in the joint venture rather than operate its own wholly owned subsidiary because each joint venture partner in Slimline benefits from the others unique knowledge and expertise. Mast industries provides a vast network of clientele, Courtaulds provides great production power due to it being the largest apparel manufacturer in the UK, and MAS provides Slimline with the world s first carbon neutral textile facility. Each partner brings something to the table that the others cannot, which is why they chose to participate in the joint venture. 3. From the perspective of each of the partners, there are potential pitfalls to joining this joint venture. Each company is grouped with two other partners, which is risky because there are greater liabilities. If one of the partner s reputations suffers, as a result, all of the partner s reputations under Slimline will as well suffer. They need to work as a team and continue to do what they are doing in order to continue growing. • 4. Feminist View On Women And Marriage In Othello Feminists believe that marriage is a source of conflict, in the play it suggests that marriageability is most women s only road to power, the goal was to secure family, wealth, and protection from a male. And to fulfil this, women needed to be continuously sexually attractive yet pure and modest. Once married, it was self evident that wives should follow their husbands and be humoured by them in return. After a wife had provided an heir, she was truly secure. This can be reflected in Iago s cynical comment She never yet was foolish that was fair, for even her folly helped her to an heir (Othello: Act 2. Sc. 1. 7). In modern day terms, he is saying that no pretty woman can be considered stupid since they are all clever enough to use their looks to ensnare a husband and this achieves respectability. Feminists argument to women and marriage in the play would be that currently there are many women who would more likely choose their career instead of chasing someone to be their husband. Women don t need to do anything for men to feel secure. Secondly, it very much objectifies women as being possessions to patriarchal heirs. Marxists would believe that this form of thinking is just all down to the bourgeoisie and how marriage is an institute that allows everyone in society to have a set order and in feminist s eyes, they view society undermining female equality. Some modern feminist critics see Desdemona as a repugnant embodiment of the oppressed. Desdemona herself asserts that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Forewarning Study Two Forewarning or warning is defined as informing someone of a danger or possible problem ahead of time. Robert Apsler and David O. Sears (1968) use forewarning to describe two different kinds of prior warnings to subjects. The first one involves forewarning participants of the specific situation in which the researcher is about to provide (Apsler Sears, 1968). And the other warning is there to show the intent of a forthcoming communicated message. Such intent could be the changing of participants attitude, but before providing participants with information about the topic or position of the communication (Apsler Sears, 1968). Metzler, and Karen Courchaine (1991) are researcher at University of Florida and they came to the conclusion that individuals with high levels of prior bias, when forewarning is enhanced and creates a resistance to persuasion, whereas it has the opposite effect on individuals with more balanced cognitions (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). This differentiation forms an inconsistency for researchers, since nearly every independent variable has increased persuasion in some situations, had no effect in others, and decreased persuasion in still other contexts (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). To account for these inconsistencies, researchers use The Elaboration Likelihood Model or ELM to addressed the impact of forewarning (forewarned, unwarned) and argument quality (strong, weak) on subjects to get an honest response (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). And according to ELM, the results of forewarning would vary as a direct effect from cognitive responses (Neimeyer, Macnair, Metzler, Courchaine, 1991). Although, it is not only forewarning that could cause to resistance to persuasion but person could be motivated by the warning to be more considerate in their own positions as participants, while generating points of view in supporting their own stands and opposing alternative ... • 10. Solubility Product Constant Lab Report Determine the solubility product constant (Kā‚›ā‚š) of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)ā‚‚) by using the concentrations of calcium and hydroxide found during titration. The solubility product constant, or Kā‚›ā‚š, represents the level at which a substance dissolves in a solution at equilibrium. A higher Kā‚›ā‚š value means the more soluble a substance is in a solution. The solubility product constant, similar to solubility, is temperature dependent. When writing the expression for Kā‚›ā‚š solids and liquids do not appear since their concentrations do not change, only aqueous solutions are expressed. The Kā‚›ā‚š equation would be written as Kā‚›ā‚š= [C]^c[D]^d. The reason the reactant aA is not included is because it is a solid, therefore not represented in the expression. ... The temperature affects how effective the solute molecules break apart. The higher the temperature the more kinetic energy is formed, which increases the effectiveness of finding the solubility constant. If the Ca(OH)ā‚‚ was not filtered correctly during the experiment the concentrations of the experiment would be off. If cloudiness still remained in the solute after filtration then the more HCl would have been used to find the solubility of calcium hydroxide. Filtering correctly helps with the effectiveness of breaking apart molecules to find specific concentrations to find the total solubility product constant. The best option to finding the correct final product is to filter until clear. If too much or too little of the saturated solute was used how could that affect the experiment? More solute means more solvent, but however, with the final calculations, the final product should be the same if data was recorded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The nature of industrialisation in the 1930s The nature of industrialisation changed in the 1930s. In the 1920s industrialisation had occurred because of free enterprise and big business. But with the onset of the Depression, industrial output fell dramatically. (statistics needed). To combat this, the federal government adopted a role of directly stimulating industrial growth. The Public Works Administration (PWA) instituted in began many large industrial projects with the aim of spurring the economy and providing many jobs. The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was a federal project to energise the economy through a massive industrial scheme sponsored by the federal government. Twenty five dams were built to reshape the land and generate hydro electricity, which could further contribute to industrial growth. Another example of government leadership of industry was the National Recovery Administration (NRA), which attempted to foster industrial growth through the creation of codes for each industry. These federal programs fundamentally changed the nature of industrialisation. In the 1930s, the government s approach to industrialisation was more akin to socialist state style industrialisation than it was to the American capitalism style industrialisation of the 1920s. • 12. Theme Of Imperialism In Avatar In James Cameron s Avatar the idea of imperialism is displayed strongly through the measures that the humans take to overpower the land and the people of Pandora. Imperialism is when a group of people believe that they are superior, and see others as inferior. This leads to them thinking that they have the entitlement to take what they want. This is shown in the movie Avatar when the humans think that they are more superior and take away important landmarks to the Na Vi people,Such as Home Tree. The the idea of imperialism is shown, when the humans destroyed Home Tree, the living area of the Na Vii. Home Tree is also sitting on a large mass of unobtainium, which is a grey rock that is found on the land of Pandora. On earth this rock sells for 20 million per kilogram and the humans are in desperate need for it. We can see this through dialogue and mise en scene. It is shown when Parker Selfridge (The head of administration for the RDA) explained to Grace (the head of the science for the RDA on Pandora). That the only reason her science is taking place is because the little grey rock sells for 20 million per kilogram . At this point in the film there is a close up shot of the unobtainium floating on a magnet, this makes it look highly important and of great value. James Cameron has used this film technique of lighting to illuminate the unobtainium. We can also see through character actions that some of the humans do not care about the Na Vi. • 14. Analysis Of The Dance Field By Frank Lloyd Wright On May 11, 1894 in Allegany City, Pennsylvania soon to be Pittsburg, Pennsylvania a legend was born. Little did Jane and George Graham know that their last name would have worldwide recognition thanks to their daughter, Martha. Martha Graham s work in the dance field has been compared to Picasso s work in visual arts, Frank Lloyd Wright s work in architecture, and the influence of Stravinsky on music. The Graham family moved to California in the 1910 s, and when Graham was 17, she went to see her first ever dance performance. She saw Ruth St. Denis, a modern dance pioneer, perform in Los Angeles. Graham was so inspired that she begged her parents to allow her to study dance. Being strong Presbyterians, her parents didn t exactly support the idea. Despite what her parents thought, Graham enrolled herself in an arts oriented junior college. After her father died, she started attending the new Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by St. Denis and her husband, Ted Shawn. What Graham learned there would fundamentally shape her dancing style moving forward. Pretty soon Graham s technique was strong enough to start working professionally as a dancer. Her passionate, emotional performance style gained her the attention of the nation. As the years progressed, Graham transitioned from performer to choreographer. • 15. Modern Day Commercial Firms Have A System Of Computer... Background to the Study Many modern day commercial firms have a system of computer based network to track the activities of their employees at the workplace. Employers can track the emailing and browsing history alongside any other activity carried out by an employee using computers even if they clear the history (Reynolds, 2011). Companies are on the run to come up with strict policies to track the use of the computers among employees. Some firms argue that computer based monitoring is important although it is quite expensive to install and maintain (Hugl, 2013). The fact that the internet is becoming one of the major business components, it has become critical for firms to monitor how employees use it. Research indicates that a larger percentage of employers monitor how their employees use the internet while at work. Over the last one decade, the percentages of employers who have restricted their employees access to the company website have increased significantly. They prefer computer based monitoring arguing that computers can handle a large volume of data. Cangemi (2012) adds CM systems use automated advanced analytics to sift through the large volumes of structured data, such as financial transactions, that comprise a large part of their big data (p. 35). According to them, computer monitoring has become critical to reduce cases of critical information from the company leaking to unwanted third parties (Lyon, 2008). Mr. Villars s Letter For Evelina There are many times throughout the novel that Mr. Villars makes decisions for Evelina against his better judgement, thus dismissing any claims that he was motivated for selfish reasons. In response to Lady Howard s request for Evelina to spend some time in a visit at Howard Grove, Mr. Villars replied, it has been my study to guard her against their delusions, by preparing her to expect and despise them. But the time draws on for experience and observation to take the place of instructions . . . She is now of an age that happiness is eager to attend, let her enjoy it! I commit her to the protection of your Ladyship... (Burney 13). Despite his instinct to keep Evelina protected, he allows her to leave the country for new experiences. Mr. Villars releases his apprehension, something worthy of acknowledgement at the very least, and expresses his belief that there is merit to experience and observation. This concept would not sit well with a man who is motivated by patriarchal control and female dependency, but it does with Mr. Villars. When Lady Howard later inquires to unite Evelina with her father, Sir John Belmont, Mr. Villars begins his response by stating, On the fatal day that her gentle soul left its mansion, and not many hours ere she ceased to breathe, I solemnly plighted my faith, That her child if it lived, should know no father, but myself, or her acknowledged husband, (Burney 105). • 22. The Sun Also Rises By Ernest Hemingway The Sun Also Rises Ernest Hemingway Introduction Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises is a classic work of American prose, and is essential to understanding the social climate of the 1920 s, and the Lost Generation . Hemingway s motley cast of star crossed lovers, rabble rousers, expatriates, gamblers, and burgeoning alcoholics reflect the excitement, loneliness, and disillusionment experienced by Hemingway and his contemporaries. In addition, the post war angst of young people of the time is illustrated throughout all of the characters, affecting their lives and developing them as people. Because of this, The Sun Also Rises is now considered one of the best novels to come out of the era, as well as one of the most important American works of all time. Summary The Sun Also Rises begins in 1920 s Paris, with Jake Barnes describing his friend, Rob Cohn. He likes Cohn but criticizes him, saying he wasted his money, and is boring and plain. Cohn is writing his novel while in Paris, but once he finishes, he travels back to the United States to find a publisher for his book, which he does, and also finds social success in New York, something he felt he was lacking in Paris. Upon his return, He and Barnes travel to a nightclub in the city, and Barnes sees his friend, Brett Ashley, a beautiful, intelligent and modern woman whom both Jake and Cohn have feelings for. • 23. The Prestige Film Analysis Intro to Cinema Midterm The film The Prestige is one of many masterful Nolan films that walks the line between being a meta film about the film industry, and being focused on immersing the audience in the actual content of the film. At a close inspection, comparisons to the film industry can be seen, but they are not so obvious to distract the audience from the central conflicts that are at the forefront of the film. The subject of the film could most easily be defined as surrounding the topics of obsession or fame. More specifically, the obsession of fame, and the illusion of happiness that fame projects. The main characters of the movie both urn for the fame of being the world s most successful entertainer, even if for different reasons. The editing of the movie allows for the audience to have a unique perspective of how the events transpire. The non chronological order of the film allows the audience to see the effects before the causes, and to see the deception through a non linear lens. The events are lined up in a manner that is more like the recollection of memories, than the linear nature of recorded film. By using the two journals as a form of narrative we can see what we think is the inner monologue of the different characters, or rather what about themselves they want to reveal to each other. It is this nature of editing that allows us to slowly understand the secretes of the film in a unique way. The film shows the answers to questions before they are asked ... O Brien, was the source material for the fourth feature length from director Craig Zobel who gained some notoriety with his previous film Compliance . If Mr. Zobel was far from impressing me with the latter, he doesn t do much better in this one. Instead of the teenage protagonist of the book, Zobel and his screenwriter, Nissar Modi, opt for an adult version of the character, played by the unrecognizable Margot Robbie who has generated some buzz with her small but memorable part in The Wolf of Wall Street . Ann, in need of physical contact and considering the repopulation of the Earth, urges him into sex, but he disappoints her in that particular aspect. Ultimately, he falls in love with her, but what could have been a relaxing life in duo, is turned upside down when another stranger, Caleb (Chris Pine), arrives to compete for the last existing woman, bringing tiny portions of tension into their little paradise. Thrills are scarce, and every attempt to make them work out falls into dullness and conventional. This is aggravated by the fact that the film, beyond predictable, lingers on lukewarm situations for an eternity, where we never feel real empathy for the characters or perceive any sustainable passion sprouting from the love ... • 25. The Impact Of Indians During The Colonial Americas Essay The Impact of Indians in the Colonial Americas Many historians speculate that about 20,000 years ago Paleo Indians migrated to America. How they made the journey is highly speculated as well. Some believe it was by a land bridge between Asia and Northern America while others believed the Paleo Indians to have migrated via boat. However, how they arrived is not what matters, but what is important is that the Paleo Indians made it to the Americas where they began establishing their own civilizations. Around 1492, however, countries like Spain, Britain, and France began exploring for new lands to colonize . The lands they discovered were already inhabited by Indians, who are portrayed as the bad guy more times than not. Yet, one could argue that they are the opposite of that. Yes, colonists and Indians shared their differences, but if it were not for the Indians many of the colonists and colonizations would have never survived. One of the major countries to colonize in the Americas was Spain. Spain would actually go on to conquer and colonize many areas and establish one of the largest empires in all of the Americas. But the way in which they went about doing so was completely unnecessary according to Bartolome de Las Casas. Bartolome actually wrote In Defense of the Indians which was one of the first works in which a person from a colonizing nation argued for the rights of the indigenous people (Indians or Native Americans in this case) of the region that was being ... This marks the beginning of MTV s reality show, The Real World. The show takes 7 strangers, puts them in a trendy luxurious home, taping them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for about 4 months. The cameras capture petty arguments, late night hook ups, and pure laziness. How could this not be real? Agrippina The Younger Analysis Julia Augusta Agrippina, or more commonly, Agrippina the Younger was a Roman empress consort and one of the most distinguished women of the Julio Claudian dynasty. In her earlier years, Agrippina, as well as her mother and older brother, were remorsly mistreated by Emperor Tiberius, who was only a stepson of Augustus. She would have learned at her mother s knee to despise usurpers who were not direct descendants of Augustus. During the reign of Claudius, Augustus was sometimes used as a name for men of noble birth, making Agrippina the first living consort of a living emperor to receive such an honor as well as one of the first women to challenge the social structure of Rome, thus giving Agrippina a role of stature far beyond normally achievable. Being allowed the right to use the carpentum at festivals, as well as other honors was an uncommon privilege that could only be given by the Senate, it represented power and wealth that not many women could have. Agrippina s role during the reign of Claudius has been described as influential and aspiring during such a traditional period in time. Claudius favored her so, allowing her to take some rein in his politics and his ruling. It has been said that Claudius was presented as having a sluggish uxoriousness according to Tacitus. He shows how the banking concept of education creates an environment where students just receive and store information, but never question why things are the way they are. Then goes on to explain how in the banking concept teachers act as if they are superior to the students by referring to teachers as oppressors and students as oppresses. In his essay Freire also gives a solution to the problems he describes in the banking concept. It s called the problem posing method and it is an interactive way of learning where your mind is more engaged. This is a liberating educational experience where teachers and students are equal. Alan Maley (1983) said: Teachers need to offer a variety of activities, techniques, and tasks in teaching to give equal opportunities to students with different styles of learning so all students progress. Girard, (1972) said: Rather than fish in one linguistic stream, we should cast our pedagogical net in all waters that might bring us in a profitable catch (Dillon, J. M., and A. A. Long, 2004). It is a whole integrated approach, for example, a listening activity with coordinated speaking or singing and supplementary features like pronunciation and form of the language. The Inkblot Test was designed and published in 1927 and is comprised of ten inkblots projected on cards with five of them being in black and white and the other five in color. The purpose of this test is to be able to assess underlying psychological issues that someone might be reluctant to divulge directly. This test developed into a test that assesses personality traits of individuals ranging from ages five to adults by means of projecting their own emotions onto these unambiguous figures . Originally, Rorschach designed this test to produce a profile for people suffering from mental disorders, like schizophrenia and Rorschach himself was dissatisfied with using it as a projective test. The combination of altering a test into something it was not designed to do and the test yielding extremely subjective and variable responses, it has stirred up quite a bit of controversy as to whether this psychological measure is actually reliable and valid. In an effort to give this test validity, many tried to create a scoring system to provide reliability and validity. None seemed to be successful alone, however in 1973, American Psychologist, John E. Exner M.S., B.S., devised a scoring system in which he combined the best components of the main five scoring systems at the time. Exner published the paper, The Rorschach: A Comprehensive System, ... • 42. The Challenges Of Amphibians Amphibians are an endangered group of animals where almost 20.41% species (among the total of 49 species) in Bangladesh has been recognized as threatened (IUCN, 2015), yet an enormous unrecognized diversity is calling for a taxonomic exploration. But there are several challenges for amphibian taxonomists as they have remarkable cryptic diversity phenotypic plasticity as well as many frogs are morphologically similar but can be distinguished by genetic divergences. DNA barcoding could be a quick means to obtain species identification precisely. The 5 end of COI gene (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I) is advocated as the universal and ideal DNA barcoding marker for all species (Hebert et al., 2004b). Nevertheless, frogs have been one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The products were run through the 1.0% Agarose gel with bromophenol blue and the bands were visualized under UV transluminator. Amplification by polymerase chain reaction method was done using one pair of 16S rRNA and one pair of COI primer sets. Among them for 16S rRNA gene E. kalasgramensis, H. tytleri and F. nepalensis were successfully amplified, for COI gene only E. kalagramensis was successfully amplified. Amplified products were sequenced and the product length was 553bp, 523bp and 521bp base pair long for 16S rRNA gene for E. kalasgramensis, H. tytleri and F. nepalensis, respectively and 612 bp long COI gene of E. kalasgramensis. The sequences were transferred to FASTA format and BLASTED within nucleotide database for the authentication and matched in a range of 98% 100% for consensus sequence of the three species. GenBank based identification yielded an alignment E value of 0.0. The overall ampliļ¬cation and sequencing success of the CO1 primers was low compared to the 16S gene. After several attempt COI gene was successful to amplify only for one species. For the clarification of the candidate species status, detailed phylogenetic analyses was performed and a 16S and COI divergence survey were conducted for each family using 16S and COI data from the DNA database data. Among the examined family, it was observed that for 16S rRNA based phylogenetic tree all the members formed clade according to their taxonomy. Only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Putney Debates of 1647 Arguments proposed by the Grandees in the simulated debate included justifications and further defense of the original Grandees arguments. The chief topics to focus on include the importance of immovable property and vested interests, the threat of anarchy from universal incorporation, and the essential definition of tacit consent. All aspects of these arguments set out to make the demands of the Levellers appear unobtainable at the time. When analyzing each topic, the drastic difference of the Levellers and Grandees are discovered, along with certain similarities that make both sides appear not so different in ideology. Most importantly, each argument was essential to democracy then, as they are in today s modern society. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The type of consent expressed by an individual did not matter in relevance to their level or authorization of participation. The main ideal behind tacit consent for the Grandees involved enjoying the laws that govern the land and protecting citizens from outside influence. These points automatically made one subjective to the decree of the government, which in this sense required one to have immovable property in order to have a vote. Along with the idea of tacit consent, the Grandees highlighted the difference between birthrights and natural rights with the latter not including the right to vote. For the Levellers, the benefits of birthrights appeared to sufficiently warrant their ability to take part in voting, but simply being born in England no longer meant allowed for their selection of leaders and officials. In relation to democracy, the type of consent present in a government should be expressed, but when the components of a recent civil war and the possibility of another are present certain types of consent can only be allowed. Furthermore, the Grandees have effectively identified which measures and precautions to take in order to prevent future conflict in England, which included ignoring the expressed consent of the citizens. Along with identifying the consent of the populace, the Grandees accepted the service of the Levellers in the civil war as consenting to government and being subjective to its ... Australia Post Executive Summary Executive Summary Early into his tenure as Australia Post CEO, Ahmed Fahour recognised that the postal services industry was in a state of transition and the organisation needed an urgent change in direction if it was to survive in the long term. The extremely challenging landscape for the national carrier led Fahour to focus his efforts on innovative solutions with the potential to transform Australia Post s business model and strategically position the organisation in the heart of the digital economy. The focus on internally developing strategic capabilities through innovation has seen a shift towards the prioritisation of its workforce engagement and diversity, which Fahour believes are paramount for businesses looking to make innovative changes. Technology continues to pose significant opportunities and threats for the postal services industry, and while it has been a major disruptor by eroding mail volumes, on the other hand, the rapid uptake of online shopping has boosted industry performance resulting in exponential growth in demand for parcel delivery services. • 45. Analysis Of Killings By Andre Dubus Families are one of the most important things in life. We have parents, kids, crazy uncles, and weird cousins, but that doesn t change how it would feel to lose one of them. In the short story Killings, Richard Strout kills Frank Fowler and then suddenly disappears. Matt Fowler, Frank s father, is suspected of murdering Richard and hiding all the evidence. After losing his son, Matt and his family grieved over the loss of their loved one wanted to see Richard Strout where he belonged, or at least out of sight. Although the story doesn t reveal what happens to Matt Fowler after Richard Strout is dead, all the evidence, Matt s PGD, his thirst for revenge, and how he believes the system has failed him when Richard was able to walk free, makes him guilty of killing Richard Strout. In Killings, Andre Dubus writes about the events just leading up to Richard Strout s disappearance. Matt Fowler was happily married and had three children. One of his sons, Frank Fowler, entered into a relationship with a woman named Mary Ann Strout, who was in the process of getting a divorced with Richard Strout. Once Richard found out about his wife and Frank, he killed Frank out of anger. He was then arrested and then got on bail. Matt Fowler and the rest of his family were not too pleased to see their loved one s murderer was walking free. Matt was getting drinks at his friends, Willis, restaurant one night and found out where Strout works. So they sat outside his work and waited for him to come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. I Know About Breeding A Dog Essay In 2015 for christmas I had recieved a female Australian Shepherd puppy. She is a blue merle with brown eyes. When I first got her I loved her and couldn t wait for her to be old and have puppies of her own. What I didn t understand is how difficult of a process it was to get a dog bred. I didn t know the first thing about breeding a dog. However if I wanted my dog to have puppies then I needed to learn about it. I know that a dog comes in heat roughly every six months. I know it is during that time period the they would get bred. Some things I have heard from my family was that a bitch has to be bred at certain times. They will only stand and allow breeding a certain numbers of days. I have no knowledge of when that takes place. I know that a bitch s cycle can last for weeks. The only way I would know when my dog needs bred is to put her in with a male and see if she allows him to breed her. When you don t have a male dog that is hard to do. Picking a male for her is a hard task. When breeding Australian Shepherd you have to be cautious about which types are bred. I know that you should not breed a merle to a merle because it cause defects. I am not for sure why this happens so picking a dog needs to be done carefully. Section II When researching my question the first thing that needs to be looked up is a partner. I first looked up the proper partner for a blue merle. Australian Shepherds can only be breed between certain type. If the wrong ones are bred it can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Loss of Species Due to the Biodiversity Crisis The seriousness of the current biodiversity crisis and the increasingly loss of species diversity have aroused the boldness in conservationists to propose not so conservative solutions. Such as an attempt to restore in our present environment the wildlife diversity lost in the Pleistocene period. This proposal is incited by Donlan et al. (2006) that call for restoration of missing ecological functions and evolutionary potential of lost North American megafauna using extant conspecifics and related taxa . This essay will discuss the possible positive effects brought by the Pleistocene rewilding and its major impediments. And it is perceptible that the obstacles in translocating species similar to those that have been extinct for millennia in North America are so many, and its plausibility so controversial, that this adventurous proposal requires a lot of reflection and scientific labor before being considered a reasonable solution. In the Americas, many mammals and their commensals were lost in the end of the Pleistocene epoch, about 13,000 years ago (Martin 2005) and with them, many ecosystem processes and services were lost. The Pleistocene rewilding intends to bring back the biodiversity that vanished 13,000 years ago, reinstituting ecological and evolutionary processes that were transformed or eliminated by megafaunal extinctions (Donlan et al. 2006). Pleistocene rewilders also advocate this conservation strategy based on aesthetic and ethical grounds; they argue that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Origin Of The Word Hoosier Analysis Hoosier is one of those odd words where everyone seems to know what it refers to, but no one really knows what it means. Most know that it has been adopted to refer to Indianaians, but its true meaning and origin are a mystery. This mystery is what intrigued J.P. Dunn and prompted him to write Origin of the Word Hoosier. In his work, Dunn makes the argument that there is no true known origin of the word. Dunn believes that the true stories are nothing more than legends warped by time and the facts that people believe cannot be proved to be anything more than just theory. The first fact, based upon the legend of the word hoosier, is that the word was originally used as a slang term to describe a rough, uneducated class of people. This belief has stemmed from the reasoning that a great many of the legends describe the character of the people labeled hoosier as childish and uncivilized. One such legend is told by Mrs. C. W. Bean. She recalls, One of my aunts said, What a lot of hoosiers there are in town. In surprise, I asked, Why, I am a Hoosier. ? A horrified look came over my aunt s face, and she exclaimed, For the Lord s sake, child, don t let anyone here know that you are a hoosier. I did not make the claim again, for on closer inspection the visitors proved to be a wild looking lot who might be suspected of never having seen civilization before. (88) Mrs. Bean s story supports the idea that the word hoosier originally depicts the uneducated, as her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
