Being A Stay At Home Mom
Before we began to build our family, my husband and I were both working full time jobs at an
upwards of 60 hours a week. This was practical at the time, but I knew I could not continue to do
so with an infant. This led me to leave my job of 3 years just before giving birth. After a few
months, I debated long and hard on returning to work. After very careful consideration, I decided
the best thing to do for everyone would be for me to stayhome. I knew that being a stay at home
mom would be hard. More importantly, I also knew that my daughter needed me to be there for
her. It helped me learn that the plan you may have for yourself may not be the best plan for
everyone else; being able to compromise for loved ones is always important. When I got
married, I was working as a federal contractor for a company that conducted background
investigations. The days were very long, some at 10 hours, most at 12. My husband worked at the
same company, so we were on the same schedule. This worked well for us, but as we started to
discuss building our family, I began to wonder if this would be practical. I did not mind working
so much, but knew having a baby would change a lot. Once I became pregnant, it slowly became
evident I could not continue such crazy schedules. I moved to part time status shortly after, and
ultimately left my job just months before having our daughter. I gave birth to my daughter on
November 8, 2014. After 20 hours of labor, she failed to progress further and I

Somali Piracy Research Paper
On November 15th, 2008, the MV Sirius Star, an oil tanker carrying 2.2 million barrels of crude
oil was en route from Saudi to the United States when the ship was hijacked by Somali pirates
under the orders of piracy kingpin Mohamed Abdi Hassan. The ship, carrying 25 crewman and
carrying $100 million worth of cargo, was released over a year later after a $3 million ransom
was paid by the United States. The November 15th attack serves as just one of many examples
displaying the terrorist and economical threat Somali piracyhas endowed on the world. The pirate

The Line Between Knowledge And Power In Indian Horse And...
The Line between Knowledge and Power is Drawn in the Sands of Responsibility.
Knowledge is something that is gathered over time, changed and revolutionized based on the needs
of society and dictated by the actions that humanity takes that. As a human being, not only does
one person have the ability to pass down the knowledge and skills that are learnt from fathers and
their fathers forefathers, but have the responsibility to continue traditions and knowledge learnt in
the past that is relevant today. This idea of passing down knowledge, or at least protecting
knowledge can be found in each of the course texts this year, but more predominantly in Indian
Horse, and as well in Fahrenheit 451. Over the human existence on Earth, several philosophers
have related Knowledge and Power to be directly linked together, It has also been said that with
great power comes great responsibility. According to these fundamental teaches and rules that have
been created over time, it is clear to see that having knowledge means having a responsibility to not
only pass knowledge down to the next generation, but to protect knowledge and traditions from
those who may with stop knowledge from advancing.

In the novel, Indian Horse, traditions and knowledge of one s father and the fathers before them is
lost by the actions of the Canadian Government and the White Man , or more commonly known as
the European. This was accomplished with the development of residential schools and institutional

Becoming A Paramedic
Imagine having the power to save someone s life, everything they live for at the tip your fingers.
If that thought doesn t spark your interest then maybe a career in the medical field just isn t fit
for you. I don t know exactly what I want to do when I finish getting my associates degree but one
job that catches my attention at the moment is working in emergency medical services. Becoming
a paramedic requires a lot of physical strength and emotional fortitude, you must endure long hours
whether it be taking on some serious 911 calls or just filing out documentation of each call
received. Being a paramedic sparked my interest as a little girl when my mother had a seizure. I

training program to get his certification and he told me that when he enrolled in the program he
only had an associate s degree, he went through the process of having a drug test and background
check, once he completed the tests and passed them he went through his basic EMT training
courses, he the proceeded to complete the EMT intermediate courses and as soon as he passed
those he completed his paramedic training. All of the work he did took him about four years to

Geography Of Australia Essay
Australia The Land Down Under Australia is a continent filled with unique geography, culture, and
animals. As Peter Dodds McCormick proudly states in the Australian national anthem, Our land
abounds in nature s gifts of beauty rich and rare. Filled with its abundant native features, Australia
is the world s sixth largest country. Australiais also the smallest continent and the largest island in
the world. One aspect of Australia is its unique geography. The total population of Australia is
estimated to be twenty two million people. Ann Weil (2014, 7) points in her book Continents:
Australia, Much of Australia is too hot and dry for most people to live. There are few Aboriginal
communities in Australia s desert filled middle. But there is not enough water in the outback for
many homes or farms. Almost all Australians live in big cities close to the ocean. Despite Australia
s stereotypical outback, around eighty percent of Australia s citizens live in towns and cities. The
country is divided into two territories and six states. These states and territories include New South

offered a position as curator of the mollusk collection at the Geneva museum of natural history.
(He had to turn this down because he had yet to finish high school!) Piaget received his PhD in
natural science at age 21 from the University of NeuchГўtel. By this time he had already published
21 papers! His interest in epistemology (theory of knowledge) led him to study how children solve
problems. At Albert Einstein s suggestion, Piaget investigated children s understanding of time,
space, speed, and motion, resulting in two books on these subjects. During his long lifetime

grapple with ordinary objects. Piaget noticed that students below a certain level of maturity

Multiple Sclerosis Theory
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system and can be
potentially disabling. It is a disease where the immune system attacks the nerve fibers and
causes the nerves to deteriorate to a point where communication problems are created between
the brain and the body. Alharbi (2015) notes that there is clear evidence linking lack of Vitamin
D and the risk of getting MS. People who live closer to the equator are less likely to get MS
compared to people who live further away. An explanation for this is that there is more sunlight
near the equator. As such, the body is exposed to more sunlight and thereby produces more Vitamin
D. This research paper implies that lack of Vitamin D may be responsible for the onset... Show more

Critical roles that Vitamin D plays include the regulation of blood calcium, bone homeostasis,
bone metabolism, cell growth and division, and adaptive and innate immune responses. Vitamin D
in the form 1,25(OH)2D becomes functional by binding to a nuclear VDR and retinoid X receptor
to control gene transcription. Pathology is caused by the dysregulation of T cell responses. When
T cells are activated in a long lasting and problematic way, immune mediated diseases happen. A
sub group of the T cells known as the regulatory T cells, or suppressor T cells, plays an important
role in modulating the immune system, sustaining tolerance to self antigens, and stopping
autoimmune disease. When there is a deficiency of regulatory T cells, immune mediated diseases
occur. As such, regulation of T cell response is critical to the healthy functioning of the body, and to
prevent chronic activation of the T cells (Cantorna et al.

1. Paul and Gnosticism.
What was Paul s response to the 1st century circumcision controversy? What were the characteristic
features (beliefs practices) of Gnostic Christianity? And in your judgment, can either viewpoint (or
both) be considered orthodox over against the other?
Throughout the early history of Christianity, disputes broke out over mosaic law, particularly in
the mid first century when the issue of circumcision, cutting off the foreskin of a man s penis, was
a heavily debated and a recurring issue among different churches and members of the church.
Many Christians believed that following the mosaic law, which included the act of circumcision,
was no longer required for salvation as having faith and accepting Jesus as the messiah would be
enough. Others, on the other hand, believed that requirements set forth in the mosaic law were still
necessary to be saved. These people were negatively branded with the name Judaizers (those who
believed that all Christians should follow the Law of Moses), and were often criticized for being
discriminatory and elitist. A meeting was then held to discuss the whether the application of the
mosaic law to new members of the Christian community, particularly focusing on if those trying to
convert, were obliged undergo circumcision to be accepted into, and become part of, the Christian
community. The apostolic decree of the council of Jerusalem moved away from its

Essay on Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity
Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity
The narrator in the film Fight Club is questioned about his devastated condo and declares, That
condo was my life, okay? I loved every stick of furniture in that place. That was not just a bunch of
stuff that got destroyed, that was me! This attitude of defining self identity through a consumer
culture has become institutionalized in the American society. The film Fight Club addresses the
excessive consumerism as a sign of emotional emptiness and as a form of self distinction. While the
title suggests that it is just another clichГ© action movie, it is not so shallow or narrowly focused.
It instead provides the viewer with a provocative view on American society and it raises valid

Together, they end up creating the underground fight club that becomes wildly popular with blue
collar workers. Shirt less men beat each other into bloody messes every Saturday night in the
basement of a bar. As the movie progresses, this underground club becomes more of a renegade
resistance group that causes mayhem to corporate America. While Tyler is leading his cult to
more mischief and mayhem, Jack thinks it has gotten out of hand. Fight club has spread across
the country and Tyler s next mission is to blow up all the major credit companies to erase
everyone s credit thus leveling the economic playing field. Jack, in an attempt to stop him,
chases Tyler around the country but it always appears that he has just missed Tyler. Jack slowly
comes to the conclusion that he himself and Tyler are the same person. While Jack thought he
was sleeping, in reality his schizophrenic other half was working Tyler s jobs, making soap and
trying to blow Americas materialistic views to pieces. Jack is able to destroy his alter ego by
over coming Tyler s influence and shooting himself through the cheek; however, he is not able to
stop Tyler s explosions. The last scene shows the buildings collapsing while Jack and Marla are
kissing.
Fight Club challenges the typical American consumer identity by creating two contradicting
characters. Jack starts out as a consumer defining his life by possessions, while Tyler lives his life
on his own terms. One of the better

Maryka Wife Monologue
June, 1935: It has been a long day. The last few days have been long, drawn out by the
uncertainty and anger my wife and I share. We have every reason to stand together, hold each
other and lament, cry in to each other s shoulders. However, we stand with our backs to each
other, a growing distance between us. Our daughter, Malva, our brand new baby girl not much
more than two years old, is dying. She is so young, but still the hands of deathreach for her. Her
head is swollen. Cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that is supposed to keep you brain safe, protecting

I live in my nice house, here on Isla Negra. However, what I ve done to get me here, it haunts me.
I have not killed anybody myself, there is no blood staining my hands. However, it feels like
there should be, for all I have survived. For all those who stood by me, that bled. There is only so
much a person should have to live with, only so much a person can live with before the darkness
behind them becomes overwhelming. I feel like, looking back on everything that I have
experienced, that everybody has a past that is dark. Everybody has things they have seen that haunt
them, that cloud the memories you would like to preserve, tainting them with the sorrow of
another time. When I look back, I see those I have lost, such as Malva and Maryka, my first true
love. She left to go back to Europe, and that was the last time I ever saw her. She took my only
daughter with her, where she would die 6 years later. I try to think back to the times where we
loved each other, where we had no quarrel or conflict, but it is clouded by the years of turmoil
and anger. I too moved to Europe, where I stayed with Delia del Carril in France before moving
to a diplomatic position in Spain. Here, I met with a new group of literary enthusiasts, some much
younger and some my age. However, living and writing in Spain was not long lived. A friend,
Federico GarcГa Lorca, was executed by Franco. The area of Madrid that I lived in was attacked
and burned, children killed by merciless soldiers. The time before the fall, the peace before the
storm, is blurred out and empty to think about, as it is overshadowed by the tragedy and loss that
it proceeded. I know that my memories are unique to me, and that some carry some much worse,
and that others don t carry very many in the first place. Things have changed, my perspective and
understanding of the world and the way its inhabitants work has been altered greatly. I see the light
of my past, reflecting back upon the things I have

Analysis Of The California High Speed Rail Authority
Criticism Financial Uncertainty It can be seen that a comprehensive financing plan is lacking
from the state and the Authority. The proposed bonds would be insufficient for Phase 1 alone
putting the rest of the project away from consideration. There is very little clarity on the potential
matching funds to be available from federal and local governments. The reliability on private
investors for capital funds is questionable approach. The California High Speed Rail Authority has
received cautions from the state Senate Transportation and Housing Committee regarding the
availability of matching funds for High Speed Rail construction. Most importantly the advisor of
the California High Speed Rail Authority, Lehman Brothers has described the risks that are
capable of restricting private investment in the project. These risks include cost overruns, doubt on
ridership and revenue projections and political meddling. The Legislative Analysts Panel also
published an article in 2011 pointing out the huge difference in the proposed and actual
availability of funds. As per the Due Diligence Report of 2008, It appears unlikely that sufficient
private and public subsidy funding will be found to finance the complete HSR plan. As a result, it
is more likely that the system will either be built only in part or not at all. Moreover, claims of
profitability could not conceivably be true under even the most optimistic assumptions. Although

criminals know that if they kill they will be killed, and they are going to receive a harsh

Atalanta s Heroic Characteristics
A hero and a friend are very similar and both will support you. Friends are one who cares and
thinks about you. A hero also someone who cares about others and someone who thinks about
those they serve. A hero is not based on raw power or their Intelligence, but rather on the qualities
they possess. The actual definition of a herois a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic
qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. A hero is someone
like Atalanta was a true hero who saved the lives of others and helped the common cause of
mankind by their example. She helped support a new way of life for humans, she saved the life of
many others from killing the wild boar, and still gave everyone a chance even when she did not
want to. As for Atlanta s beginning she was born from who we know not,but then she was
abandoned for being a girl instead of a boy. Atalanta then was raised by animals and then taken in by
hunters and taught how to hunt. Atalanta could out hunt any man and could practically best any
human or nonhuman alive. One instance Atalanta was alone and two Centaurs saw her and pursued
her, but unlike any other women she stood her ground and killed the two monsters without any
struggle. At that time many humans were slaves and women did absolutely nothing. The entire
system was racist and sexist. Atalanta was the myth that changed or was an example for change.

Was King Arthur Responsible For The Downfall Of Guinevere
In the King Arthur legends, Guinevere was so much more than King Arthur s wife. She taught
readers lessons how to be a great wife but also how to be a unfaithful one. From the moment she
met King Arthur, she forever changed his kingdom and both of their lives for the good and the bad.
Throughout Guinevere and Lancelot s affair, Guinevere was blamed for everything. King Arthur
called her unfaithful, an adulterer, and blamed her for the fall of the Round Table. Although he
was not wrong to say these things about Guinevere, he never blamed Lancelot for the way he
treated King Arthur, his so called friend. All he ever did was fight him in order to win over
Guinevere, but in the end it was still Guinevere s fault that the whole affair had happened.

Security of the Political and Social Position of the Nobility in Early Modern Europe
The nobility of early modern Europe were descended on the whole from the mounted knights of
medieval armies who had been granted land along with social and political privileges and had
subsequently formed a higher social class. Between 1500 1789 the status of the aristocracy came
under threat both politically and socially. The rise of absolutism within the monarchies of Europe
led to the desire of governments to reduce noble power and bypass several of their privileges in
order to increase state revenue and centralise governmental control. The growth of the middle
classes and the destruction of the feudal system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thirdly the nobility experienced a crisis of identity and a loss of purpose as their status decreased
and there was a general relaxation of reverence [3].
The exercise of arms had been an intrinsic element in proving a noble s worth but after 1500
letters were often disassociated from arms and proved a far more certain road to wealth and
nobility that the life of the warrior [4] and an education became as important as military prowess
had been previously. This is another example of the nobility being forced to adapt to the social
pressures of the period. As the middle classes grew they forced the nobility to change its outlook
and modernise to keep up with the rest of society or become diminished and backwards.
Educational standards also enabled the nobles to be judged by the universal standards of
achievement rather than birth [5]. This demonstrates the changing attitudes of the lower classes as
they began to require justification of the nobility s high status.
The nobility s high social position was confirmed by their privileges, which firmly distinguished
noble from commoner [6]. These included fiscal advantages, such as being exempt from taxation,
judicial privileges, their exclusion from menial work within state service, their political

Alice Walker Research Paper
Alice Walker, famed author and civil rights activist, was born to sharecropper parents in
Eatonville, Georgia in February of 1944. Alice was the youngest daughter of sharecroppers; her
mother also worked as a maid to help support her eight children. At a young age, an incident with
her older brothers seriously damaged her eye when her brother Curtis accidentally shot Walker
in the eye with a BB gun while playing cowboys and Indians. To avoid getting into trouble with
their parents, Walker s frightened brothers made up a story and convinced naive Alice to go
along with it. The result was Walker lost the sight in her right eye. A disfiguring white scar
developed. Walker became very self conscious of this mark. This incident molded her early years
and caused her to largely withdraw from the world around her. She felt ugly and disfigured, so she
found solace in reading and writing poetry. This incident and her modest familyroots contributed to
her writing style exposed in later works.
Alice went on to graduate as valedictorian of her high school and attended Spelman College and
Sarah Lawrence College on scholarships. She graduated in 1965; this was the same year her first
short story was published. Walker volunteered in the voter registration drives of the 1960s and ...

Informative Essay
African Poem Informative Essay In your ears my song is motor car misfiring stopping with a
choking cough (Okara 19). This quote is from the first line of the poem You Laughed and
Laughed and Laughed by Gabriel Okara. Gabriel Okara is a famous author who spent the
majority of his life in Nigeria. During that time there were many cultural differences between
people in Africa versus people in other parts of the world. In the poem, Okara addresses the
reader as a selfish person who is unwilling to listen to what he has to say about his African
culture. Through contrast, metaphors, and tone Okara expresses the fact that people from other
cultures aren t always welcoming towards African culture. The first important literary device
that Okara uses to convey the theme of the poem is metaphors. Metaphors play a major role in
the development of Okara s message; some people refuse to listen to information about African
culture, by making specific comparisons that help the reader better understand the poem. To
Okara, the reader seems to listen to him as if he were a motor car misfiring (Okara 19). This
suggests that the reader doesn t care about what Okara has to say nor does the reader pay much
attention to him. The second metaphor that Okara chooses to use is a comparison between the
reader s laugh and ice. By comparing the reader s laugh to ice block laughter Okara is making a
connection to how harsh their laugh is to the bitterness of the cold (Okara 19). The

Traditional Methods Of Managing Personal Income
There are three traditional methods of managing personal income. 1. Budgeting, 2. Keeping a
spending history, and 3. Doing nothing (also known as living from paycheck to paycheck).
Budgeting involves setting what percent of future income is to be spent on which categories of
expenses, and then recording all purchases in order to track how well spending is staying within
the predefined limits. The process sounds very simple, however, it is difficult, in my opinion, to
stick with a budget for very long. The energy and dedication needed to keep track of where the
money goes is tremendous. I ve tried budgeting on several occasions and failed miserably
because I couldn t stomach keeping track of every penny I spent. Traditional budgets also tend
to fail because the setting of rigid spending limits does not lend itself well to being flexible.
When unforeseen expenses pop up, a budget can be rendered useless very quickly. It s my
experience that budgets can feel like monetary straight jackets that are soon abandoned. Spending
Histories A Vicious Cycle Keeping a spending history also involves the recording of every penny
spent. The intent is to use the spending history as a basis for identifying spending habits that can
be improved and then making needed changes to future spending patterns. The main weakness of
keeping a spending history is that it is focused on past activity and, therefore, is of little help when
a person is trying to make immediate decisions about

The Potential for Avian Influenza to Cause Another Worldwide Pandemic
Abstract
There are three major factors involved in the start of a pandemic; the viral strain must be new, able
to cause serious illness, and transmit efficiently between humans. This article explores the avian
influenza virus?s potential to cause another global pandemic through its ease of transmission and
ability to evade treatment. Avian type A influenzavirus generally spreads either through an
intermediate vector during the process of antigenic shift or directly to humans when it jumps the
species barrier. A certain strain of the virus, H5N1 was of particular concern as it was the first
strain to move directly from birds to humans. The avian influenza virus poses ... Show more content

There are three types of influenza viruses, namely A, B, and C. Of the three, type C is the least
harmful and type A is the most lethal because of its ability to mutate quickly. Furthermore, type A
viruses affect a variety of animals from humans, pigs, and horses, to sea mammals, and birds.
Type A viruses also have a large number of smaller subtypes as well, all of which reside
Avian Influenza: A Global Pandemic 2 among aquatic birds. This huge source of genetic variation
is what makes the Type A virus the most likely to undergo antigenic shift. The influenza virus is
made up of eight gene segments. When a human influenza virus and an avian influenza virus come
in contact with one another, they swap gene segments and create a new hybrid virus. (World Health
Organization, 2005). This hybrid virus may encompass the virulent factors of both parent viruses.
Since this influenza strain is new, organisms don?t have a preexisting immunity to it and this fact
guarantees the virus a wide variety of susceptible hosts, allowing it to cause severe damage. Second,
since the virus now contains human influenza genes, it can be transmitted efficiently between
humans, fulfilling all the conditions required to cause a pandemic. The process mentioned above
can be further explained by examining the virus?s structure. Type A influenza viruses

This class is the first in my major of Criminal Justice, and throughout this class there will be a
great deal of valuable information obtained. Justice can have several meanings to it because all
of us are different in our own way, and we all will have different outlook on situations.
Throughout this research paper you will learn about what justice means to me, and how I think I

The reason I disagree that justice was served is because Stallworth killed a human being versus
Vick killing dogs. Stallworth should have been required to do some type of prison term for killing
a human being due to drunk driving because it still was a death involved. It shouldn t matter how
much money or fame a person may have if a crime is committed then there should be proper
punishment for the crime.
Now that I have explained two examples based on my opinion if justice was served or not I feel
that I will impact society in some way once I obtain my bachelor s degree in Criminal Justice. I
will be fair in any decision that needs to be made due to the situation of the client I may be
dealing with at that time. I will also consider trying and helping to create positive outcomes for
the clients that maybe on parole or probation at that time. I will avoid trying to be negative with
the clients because they already going to have a negative outlook about themselves in some
people perspectives. I feel once they have served their time for the crime the individual should
have a second chance at regaining a positive outcome for their life. For example: If I had a client
that was charged with assault and battery and they served their sentence and then was placed on
two years of probation, I will then come up with a plan to help the client with their

The Great City Of New Orleans
In this great city of New Orleans, we have so many extravagant elements that distinguishes us from
other cities. From Mardi Gras to the French Quarters to Canal St., they all play an important part in
this city s history. The different historical statues we have scattered about the city also cause major
attractions and either people love or hate them. Lately, four specific statues have been getting a lot
of attention around town from not only the citizens, but from our very own mayor, Mitch Landrieu.
Two of the four statues are the Robert E. LeeMonument in the center of Lee Circle and the P.G.T
Beauregard Statue on City Park Ave. The mayor feels the statues should be removed not only
because of their confederate backgrounds, but because they don t have anything to do with the
history of New Orleans. So, let s explore the background of these two, controversial statues,
beginning with the Robert E. Lee Monument, and then going to the P.G.T Beauregard Statue, but
before we discuss the statue let s start with the man in the statue.
Robert Edward Lee was born in Stratford Hall, Virginia on the 19th of January 1807. It appears
Lee was destined to be in the military considering he was the son of famous war hero Henry
Light Horse Harry Lee. As soon as Lee was old enough he joined the military. He attended the
United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated second in his class in 1829. After Lee
graduated, military life didn t live up to its reputation, in fact he

Introduction
A policy is a plan or of action used by the Ministry of education to set out clear rules and
expectations for the delivery of programs and services to the public .(BCE ) In this essay I will be
discussing two major policy changes that have occurred in educational provision in England
between 1944 and the present day in primary education. I will be discussing the 1944 Education
and also 1967 Plowden Report. Necessary education in England only began in 1880. But before that

The 1944 act was delivered in contrast to a war and rising popular claim for social improvement
background. It delivered a basis for the education service.
1944 EDUCATION ACT
The 1944 act suggested that the present difference in between elementary and secondary education
should be eliminated and that there should be 3 stages of education: primary, secondary and higher
instead. It was proposed that all school in the secondary stage would have to abide to a single
code of regulations which says that they must provide equality of treatment in such matters as
accommodation, size of lases etc. it also promised secondary education for all. Also all
secondary schools (except of direct grant schools) should be free up to the age of 15. After the
1944 Act, many things were affected for example even though church schools were not abolished
they were named as voluntary aided , private schools were also not abolished they were only
required to be registered and also parents were given the choice to withdraw their children from
religious schools, and although church schools were not abolished the act improved the control of
government over education.
For example, the Local Education Authorities (LEAS) had more responsibilities which proved the
rise in their status. Every county and county borough would be the local education authority (LEA)
for its area (1944 act, section 6, 1). Property and staff previously owned and

Cyber Security And The Internet Essay
The recent trend in the global business has been largely driven by the mechanism of the internet
and more broadly the cyberspace. This has created a more elaborate platform for all business
activities to be coordinated through an information system protocols. The information system is the
management of the information data base of an organization or an institution. Information is
assumed to be a significant asset, organisations strive to gather, retain and protect their valuable
intellectual property to place them in a prominent business platform over their competitors.
The proficiency and efficacy of the cyberspace in its application in accounting, finance, system
designs, manufacturing etc., cannot be denied nor neglected. The reality of the twenty first century
is simple; no organization can survive without the adoption and implementation of the mechanism
of information technology to their area of business. On the contrary perspective, there are several
challenges that are associated with the cyberspace, among which is majorly cyber security. Recently
the hackers activity has really skyrocketed and has become a major concern for organizations, states
and federal governments and even international organizations. Several regulatory schemes are put
in place to mitigate the activities of hackers across the globe.

Four intellectuals established Cultural Studies, namely, Richard Hoggart, Raymond Williams, E.P.

Hall tells us that he grew up in Jamaica, the blackest son (in his words) of a middle class,

into white, English speaking society (his father worked his way up through the United Fruit

During the 1980s, Hall wrote about Marxism without guarantees. Despite his ambiguous
relationship with Marxism, he never accepted the view that the class struggle explains/determines

challenges intellectuals by asking: What effect are you having on the world? Since 1979, Hall has
been professor of sociology at the Open University, the distance learning institution.
During the late 1970s, Hall produced at least two papers on the COMS paradigm he called

Airport Vacation Essay
It was spring break 2016, my freshman year in high school. My mom had booked our flight to
Florida a few months before. I was more excited for this vacation than most others because my
parents told my younger sister and me we could each bring a friend. We chose to bring our
cousins Ellie and Adri. Neither of them had ever been on a plane before, in result the flight
down was quite interesting. At one point my cousin Adri said to me as she looked down out the
airplane window, Woooah! Look you can see the stars. I afterwards had to remind her that we
were flying through clouds, which mean the stars would be above us not below. Adri, those are
the city lights. I said back to her giggling. Over the rest of the plane ride we chatted and took a
couple short naps. When our plane finally landed in Florida, we exited in to the airport to go
retrieve our luggage. It was pleasant to step outside and be surrounded by warm air once again
after coming from the chill of Kansas earlier that morning. Of course the hotelwe were staying at
wasn t right beside the airport, we rented a cab to take us there. Our cab driver acted as if she
knew where she was going; although, we ended up getting lost for around fifteen minutes making
the ride an hour total. Once we finally arrived, we were eager to reach our room, put on our

Lucid Dreaming Definition
In the article, The Lucid Dreaming Frequency and Alarm Snooze Button, Lucid Dreaming was
first introduced by Van Eeden. Lucid Dreaming refers to the term in which a person asleep is
aware that they are sleeping. Edeen figured out that approximately 50% of the general population
have had at least one experience of having a lucid dream, while 20% of the general population
experience lucid dreams on a daily basis. Eeden also found that lucid dreams occur during the
stage of sleep rapid eye movement (REM). These stages suggest that there is a state of arousal.
During REM sleep the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex usually deactivates, but the occurrence of lucid
dreams allows the cortex to be active, which presents the awareness of the dreams. Research...

The findings helped show that lucid dreams have a positive correlation with the pushing snooze on
the alarm clock. The results indicate that there is a significant relationship that is a positive
correlation of lucid dreaming and the alarm clock present in the study. Waking up in the middle of
the night to push the snooze button makes the occurrence of lucid dreams higher. The frequency
use of the snooze button has an association with the lucid dream frequency. In future and further
studies they should determine whether experimentally or/and longitudinally the alarm clock

times during the REM sleep. These present studies have found the brain correlates of the lucid

These characteristics can also cause the already identified students to not achieve to their fullest due
to stress and lack of motivation.
It is very hard to understand why students don t perform to their full potential when you know
they are capable. This is known as underachievement. Both early researchers and more recent
authors have defined underachievement in Social and Emotional Development of the Gifted 3
terms of a discrepancy between a child s school performance and some ability index such as an IQ
score. (Delisle Galbraith, 2002). Gifted children who do not succeed in school are often successful
in outside activities such as sports, social events, after school jobs, talent or hobby interests.
(Delisle Galbraith, 2002). So we wonder what causes the underachievement.
Bainbridge (2014), believes these problems result from gifted children being able to intellectually
understand abstract concepts but are then unable to deal with those concepts emotionally. Ones
physical development may also lead to an inability to complete a task that they are capable of
intellectually envisioning. Perfectionism can lead to fear of failure, in turn causing a gifted child to
avoid failure by refusing to even try something. (Bainbridge, 2014). This often leads to a lack of
motivation among students.

The system is updated regularly by the US government and hence is very advance.
This is the best navigating system in water as in larger water bodies we are often misled due to

Disadvantages of GPS:
Sometimes the GPS may fail due to certain reasons and in that case you need to carry a backup

If you are using GPS on a battery operated device, there may be a battery failure and you may need

Definition Essay On Underdogs
At first I didn t quit understand the meaning of an underdog . Without reading and asking for the
definition I really believed that this word was a term use to define some kind of a bad day at work

An underdog, as defined by Wikipedia is : a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and
creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is
called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is anupset. An
underdog bet is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher.

during the year, he was introduced at the last few minutes of the last game and became a hero at
that moment but he showed everybody that he could play by scoring more points than everybody
during the whole game.
He was an underdog because no one believed he could play basketball and he proved everybody
wrong. He believed in himself and lived the present moment.
I ve never really seen myself as an underdog but being the only girl in a family of four kids I think
it makes me one. Since I have three brothers, we often do boys activities. They are very
competitive and often thinks that I can t be better then them. But a lot of times I win because I m
stronger then they are and I also have to prove them that I can play with them. So, like Seabicuits,
Red and Jason, I m not suppose to win against my brothers but more often then not I do...so I m an
underdog and very proud of it.
In conclusion I truly believe that there is an underdog in every one of us, you just have to believe
in yourself and you will find a way to impress and surpass

Cloud computing
Unless you work in technology or corporate logistics, you might not have known that Amazon was
ahead of Google in the cloud business. Most consumers will have encountered the cloud in the
form of services where Google is strong email (Gmail), document storage (Google Drive), and the
like. But Amazon Web Serviceshas for years been the front runner in the business of renting
computer power to companies.

To understand the scale of the war brewing between them, it helps to understand that what
Amazon and Google are really contesting is who gets to eat a bigger portion of the total
corporate information technology pie. All the warehouses of servers that run the whole of the
internet, all the software used by companies the world over, and all the other IT services
companies hire others to provide, or which they provide internally, will be worth some $1.4 trillion
in 2014, according to Gartner Research some six times Google and Amazon s combined annual
revenue last year. Not surprisingly, both companies have said at one point or another that this new
revenue stream has the potential to be larger than all their current sources of

Beltway Sniper Case Study Answers
Beltway Sniper
The Beltway Sniper case included two men John Muhammad, and Lee Malvo whom carried out
attacks killing 10 people and wounding several other people. All of these attacks were carried out
by using a high powered .223 caliber rifle. The ballistics processing was especially important
because the use of firearm was the weapon that killed 10 innocent people, and wounded several
others. This case was cracked because one of the suspects called police and mentioned they were
responsible for a murder that took place in Montgomery Alabama outside a liquor store. The
investigators that were working on that case found a magazine left at the crime scene, and they
compared the fingerprints left on it to fingerprints of Malvo s immigration record. ... Show more

An investigation involving a firearm is a specialty of forensic science which focuses on the
examination of firearms linked to ballistics. Ballistics is related to finding out the exact flight path
of projectiles. Ballistics is the area of study that examines the exact path of the bullet from the
moment it leaves the muzzle of the firearm up until it hits the target. During examination many
items are collected for evidence including the firearm, bullets, live ammunition, cartridge casings,
trace materials such as powder residue, and anything damaged by the projectile. Firearms are often
divided into three processes: Internal, External, and Terminal Ballistics. Internal refers to the inside
of the firearm; the space of time in which the shooter pulls the trigger, and the when the bullet is
exiting. External ballistics is the flight between leaving the muzzle of the firearm, and it striking its
target. Terminal ballistics is the impact of ballistics that refers to the examination in which the
projectile strikes a target. All firearms leave markings on the cartridge casings once expelled when
firing. Ballistic identification and microstamping laws make it possible to link a cartridge
recovered to the

Archeology Impact
To help students have a better appreciation of archeology and it s role in American Indian studies
I am designing a class to help students better understand archeology and its contexts surrounding
Native American people. The title of this class will ARCH 123: Exploring Archeology and it s
Impact. This title is very relevant because it will reflect the two main themes we will focus our
energies on during the semester. These themes are the evolution of archeology and the importance
of archeology, encompassing it s effects on people. The title of this class will give students a basic
idea of what they will learn from taking it. Exploring archeology will take into context the
transition from old archeology to the new wave of feminist archeology.... Show more content on

I will once again bring up the guest speaker, Dr. McAnany. I will tell the students how she
transitioned into a more people focused practice of archeology. I will have the students discuss how
sharing the artifacts that were found with the local community could have a positive impact on the
local descendents. I will ask the students to perform a thought experiment to help them visualize the
perspective of the local ancestors who are related to the artifacts that are being dug up on these

Contrast Sensitivity Function
SPA Lab 4: CONTRAST SENSITIVITY FUNCTION
Ciara Dubose
University of Central Oklahoma
Abstract
The purpose for this experiment is to determine at which spatial frequency does a participant s
visual acuity for a contrast sensitivity function display a peak performance across different sine
wave gratings. The ability to contrast sensitivity is useful in everyday life, more than people
imagine. These contrast sensitivity functions focus primarily on the participants ability to detect
accurately the presence of a sine wave grating across different levels of contrast. The one way
repeated participants design indicated there was a reliable effect of spatial frequency on contrast
sensitivity. The conclusions of this experiment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants seeking to measure the contrast sensitivity over differing spatial frequencies used the
instructions as a guide to perform this experiment. The experiment implored the use of a computer
to display the screen images necessary to test the ability of participants contrast sensitivity. The
standard computer keyboard was necessary to allow the participants to indicate the order that the
target stimulus is present. This particular experiment used a random order showing the target
stimulus in different orders to allow the participant the ability to test their contrast sensitivity to the
differing spatial frequencies.
Design
This experiment used a one way within participants design. The independent variable for this
experiment is the differing factors of the spatial frequencies. The first condition in the experiment
used a spatial frequency with a sine wave grating of four; the second condition used a spatial
frequency with a sine wave grating of eight; the third condition used 16; the fourth condition used
32; the last condition used 64. The dependent variable for this experiment that measured the
participants visual acuity is contrast sensitivity. This experiment measured the contrast thresholds
for differing sine wave gratings among participants and compared them across the five factors of the
independent variable.
Procedure
The participants asked to perform a task involving the ability to determine the presence of a

  • 2. Being A Stay At Home Mom Before we began to build our family, my husband and I were both working full time jobs at an upwards of 60 hours a week. This was practical at the time, but I knew I could not continue to do so with an infant. This led me to leave my job of 3 years just before giving birth. After a few months, I debated long and hard on returning to work. After very careful consideration, I decided the best thing to do for everyone would be for me to stayhome. I knew that being a stay at home mom would be hard. More importantly, I also knew that my daughter needed me to be there for her. It helped me learn that the plan you may have for yourself may not be the best plan for everyone else; being able to compromise for loved ones is always important. When I got married, I was working as a federal contractor for a company that conducted background investigations. The days were very long, some at 10 hours, most at 12. Knowledge is something that is gathered over time, changed and revolutionized based on the needs of society and dictated by the actions that humanity takes that. As a human being, not only does one person have the ability to pass down the knowledge and skills that are learnt from fathers and their fathers forefathers, but have the responsibility to continue traditions and knowledge learnt in the past that is relevant today. This idea of passing down knowledge, or at least protecting knowledge can be found in each of the course texts this year, but more predominantly in Indian Horse, and as well in Fahrenheit 451. Over the human existence on Earth, several philosophers have related Knowledge and Power to be directly linked together, It has also been said that with great power comes great responsibility. According to these fundamental teaches and rules that have been created over time, it is clear to see that having knowledge means having a responsibility to not only pass knowledge down to the next generation, but to protect knowledge and traditions from those who may with stop knowledge from advancing.

It is a disease where the immune system attacks the nerve fibers and causes the nerves to deteriorate to a point where communication problems are created between the brain and the body. People who live closer to the equator are less likely to get MS compared to people who live further away. An explanation for this is that there is more sunlight near the equator. What was Paul s response to the 1st century circumcision controversy? What were the characteristic features (beliefs practices) of Gnostic Christianity? And in your judgment, can either viewpoint (or both) be considered orthodox over against the other? Throughout the early history of Christianity, disputes broke out over mosaic law, particularly in the mid first century when the issue of circumcision, cutting off the foreskin of a man s penis, was a heavily debated and a recurring issue among different churches and members of the church. Many Christians believed that following the mosaic law, which included the act of circumcision, was no longer required for salvation as having faith and accepting Jesus as the messiah would be enough. Others, on the other hand, believed that requirements set forth in the mosaic law were still necessary to be saved. These people were negatively branded with the name Judaizers (those who believed that all Christians should follow the Law of Moses), and were often criticized for being discriminatory and elitist. A meeting was then held to discuss the whether the application of the mosaic law to new members of the Christian community, particularly focusing on if those trying to convert, were obliged undergo circumcision to be accepted into, and become part of, the Christian community. Between 1500 1789 the status of the aristocracy came under threat both politically and socially. This is another example of the nobility being forced to adapt to the social pressures of the period. As the middle classes grew they forced the nobility to change its outlook and modernise to keep up with the rest of society or become diminished and backwards. Educational standards also enabled the nobles to be judged by the universal standards of achievement rather than birth [5]. This quote is from the first line of the poem You Laughed and Laughed and Laughed by Gabriel Okara. Gabriel Okara is a famous author who spent the majority of his life in Nigeria. During that time there were many cultural differences between people in Africa versus people in other parts of the world. In the poem, Okara addresses the reader as a selfish person who is unwilling to listen to what he has to say about his African culture. Through contrast, metaphors, and tone Okara expresses the fact that people from other cultures aren t always welcoming towards African culture. The first important literary device that Okara uses to convey the theme of the poem is metaphors. Metaphors play a major role in the development of Okara s message; some people refuse to listen to information about African culture, by making specific comparisons that help the reader better understand the poem. To Okara, the reader seems to listen to him as if he were a motor car misfiring (Okara 19). This suggests that the reader doesn t care about what Okara has to say nor does the reader pay much attention to him. The second metaphor that Okara chooses to use is a comparison between the reader s laugh and ice. By comparing the reader s laugh to ice block laughter Okara is making a connection to how harsh their laugh is to the bitterness of the cold (Okara 19). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethical Dilemma And Moral Dilemma GNED 212 Jorawar Singh 30877727 Section 004 Date/Time of Class Wednesday 3:30 PM Part 1 Ethical/Moral Dilemma: Defination Ethical dilemma or moral dilemma is a scenario in which a person has to make choices/decisions depending on the situation or by keeping the net happiness in his mind. He also thinks about the consequences of the decision he will make. In this scenario, I will be describing an ethical dilemma that I faced when I worked with an IT firm. My team leader was stealing from the company. He used to steal the network cable and other networking tools from the company storage unit. I started to dig this matter and I came to know that after stealing, he was selling that tools into local market. It was his side business and he was earning pretty good. So a notice was issued to all employee regarding the inside stealing and we were asked to give the other person name and our name would be not disclosed. At that point of time I faced an ethical dilemma, whether to give the name of my team leader with a fear of losing my job or whether to keep quiet and let him steal more stuff till no one catches him. • 22. Traditional Methods Of Managing Personal Income There are three traditional methods of managing personal income. 1. Budgeting, 2. Keeping a spending history, and 3. Doing nothing (also known as living from paycheck to paycheck). Budgeting involves setting what percent of future income is to be spent on which categories of expenses, and then recording all purchases in order to track how well spending is staying within the predefined limits. The process sounds very simple, however, it is difficult, in my opinion, to stick with a budget for very long. The energy and dedication needed to keep track of where the money goes is tremendous. I ve tried budgeting on several occasions and failed miserably because I couldn t stomach keeping track of every penny I spent. Traditional budgets also tend to fail because the setting of rigid spending limits does not lend itself well to being flexible. When unforeseen expenses pop up, a budget can be rendered useless very quickly. It s my experience that budgets can feel like monetary straight jackets that are soon abandoned. Spending Histories A Vicious Cycle Keeping a spending history also involves the recording of every penny spent. The intent is to use the spending history as a basis for identifying spending habits that can be improved and then making needed changes to future spending patterns. The main weakness of keeping a spending history is that it is focused on past activity and, therefore, is of little help when a person is trying to make immediate decisions about ... Since this influenza strain is new, organisms don?t have a preexisting immunity to it and this fact guarantees the virus a wide variety of susceptible hosts, allowing it to cause severe damage. Second, since the virus now contains human influenza genes, it can be transmitted efficiently between humans, fulfilling all the conditions required to cause a pandemic. The process mentioned above can be further explained by examining the virus?s structure. Type A influenza viruses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From Mardi Gras to the French Quarters to Canal St., they all play an important part in this city s history. The different historical statues we have scattered about the city also cause major attractions and either people love or hate them. Lately, four specific statues have been getting a lot of attention around town from not only the citizens, but from our very own mayor, Mitch Landrieu. Two of the four statues are the Robert E. So, let s explore the background of these two, controversial statues, beginning with the Robert E. Lee Monument, and then going to the P.G.T Beauregard Statue, but before we discuss the statue let s start with the man in the statue. Robert Edward Lee was born in Stratford Hall, Virginia on the 19th of January 1807. It appears Lee was destined to be in the military considering he was the son of famous war hero Henry Light Horse Harry Lee. As soon as Lee was old enough he joined the military. Edeen figured out that approximately 50% of the general population have had at least one experience of having a lucid dream, while 20% of the general population experience lucid dreams on a daily basis. Eeden also found that lucid dreams occur during the stage of sleep rapid eye movement (REM). These stages suggest that there is a state of arousal. Both early researchers and more recent authors have defined underachievement in Social and Emotional Development of the Gifted 3 terms of a discrepancy between a child s school performance and some ability index such as an IQ score. (Delisle Galbraith, 2002). So we wonder what causes the underachievement. Bainbridge (2014), believes these problems result from gifted children being able to intellectually understand abstract concepts but are then unable to deal with those concepts emotionally. Perfectionism can lead to fear of failure, in turn causing a gifted child to avoid failure by refusing to even try something. (Bainbridge, 2014). Contrast Sensitivity Function SPA Lab 4: CONTRAST SENSITIVITY FUNCTION Ciara Dubose University of Central Oklahoma Abstract The purpose for this experiment is to determine at which spatial frequency does a participant s visual acuity for a contrast sensitivity function display a peak performance across different sine wave gratings. The ability to contrast sensitivity is useful in everyday life, more than people imagine. These contrast sensitivity functions focus primarily on the participants ability to detect accurately the presence of a sine wave grating across different levels of contrast. The one way repeated participants design indicated there was a reliable effect of spatial frequency on contrast sensitivity. The conclusions of this experiment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Participants seeking to measure the contrast sensitivity over differing spatial frequencies used the instructions as a guide to perform this experiment. The experiment implored the use of a computer to display the screen images necessary to test the ability of participants contrast sensitivity. The standard computer keyboard was necessary to allow the participants to indicate the order that the target stimulus is present. This particular experiment used a random order showing the target stimulus in different orders to allow the participant the ability to test their contrast sensitivity to the differing spatial frequencies. Design This experiment used a one way within participants design. The independent variable for this experiment is the differing factors of the spatial frequencies. The first condition in the experiment used a spatial frequency with a sine wave grating of four; the second condition used a spatial frequency with a sine wave grating of eight; the third condition used 16; the fourth condition used 32; the last condition used 64. The dependent variable for this experiment that measured the participants visual acuity is contrast sensitivity. This experiment measured the contrast thresholds for differing sine wave gratings among participants and compared them across the five factors of the independent variable. Procedure The participants asked to perform a task involving the ability to determine the presence of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
