Things That Influenced Me To Go Back To School
There s several things and people that have influenced me into going back to school. Some good some
bad. They have also helped me into choosing my major (Criminal Justice). My husband is 15 years
older than I am. He works in the oilfield, by hauling the oil. He has influenced me by encouraging me
to go back to school, incase something ever happens to him. I pray to God everyday to keep him safe
and guide him in everything he does. When I told him the field I was wanting to do he told me that it
was a good field with a lot of different things to go with it. Then a good friend of mine has also
influenced me he was a sheriff in the next county who was also a paster. When I asked him what he
thought about being an officer he told me that there

The Science Of Good Deed
Kindness is the act of being friendly or generous to others. We as people can choose to hurt or help
people by our actions, but most of us choose to help. When we are kind, we don t take advantage of
our power, we want to comfort, encourage and strengthen those around us. In the article, The Science
of Good Deeds the author states that, kindness is a key ingredient that enhances positivity and helps
children feel good about themselves as it increases serotonin levels. My example explains that to have
a positive attitude about what you do helps you and others feel good about them selfs. Robert J. Furey
once said, Those who make compassion an essential part of their lives find the joy of life. Kindness

Traditional Utilitarianism. According To Our Text,...
Traditional Utilitarianism According to our text, utilitarianism is a general term for any view that
holds that actions and policies should be evaluated based on the benefits and costs they will impose on
society (Velasquez, 2012). In any circumstance, the right activity or approach is the one that will
create the best net advantages or the most reduced net costs (when all options have just net expenses).
Furthermore, utilitarianism rule holds that any activity is morally right if and just if the aggregate
results of a similar demonstration are more than the results created by some other activity a specialist
could have done in its place. As indicated by utilitarianism just a single activity is ideal in the last
examination: the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any case, customary utilitarians would preclude that an activity from securing a specific kind is
dependably either right or off base. Rather, each activity would need to be measured given its specific
conditions. Utilitarian perspectives have additionally been exceedingly powerful in financial aspects.
A long line of business analysts, starting in the nineteenth century, contended that monetary conduct
could be clarified by expecting that individuals dependably endeavor to amplify their utility and that
the utilities of products can be measured by the costs individuals will pay for them.
Ecological Ethic Ecological ethics is the moral view that nonhumans parts of the earth should be
saved for their own purpose, paying little mind to whether this gives individuals advantages.
Additionally, we people have an obligation to not hurt them without adequately genuine reasons.
There are a few assortments of biological morals, some more radical and expansive than others. The
most famous form asserts that, notwithstanding individuals, different creatures have natural esteem
and are meriting our regard and security. A few utilitarians, for example, Peter Singer, for instance
have claimed that agony is a shrewdness whether it is incurred on people or on individuals from
different species. Moreover, Singer contends that the torment experienced by a

Burgess Shale Essay
Burgess Shale
The Burgess Shale was first discovered in 1909 by a Paleontologist named Charles Walcott and is
believed to be over 500 million years ago in Middle Cambrian. This geological formation was first
found near a mountain by the name of Mount Burgess, for which it was named after, in Canada.
Similar formations have been uncovered in China, Europe, USA and many other places around the
world. The Burgess Shale is one of the most important of fossil type formations due to the fact that
they are one of the most preserved including not only the hard parts of an animal such as the tissue,
muscles and organs, but also gives evidence that soft bodied creatures lived at the time.

Tennessee Williams And The Glass Menagerie
Tennessee Williams was an American author generally regarded one of the best playwrights eve to
come out of the United States. Between the 1940s and the 1960s, he was one of the most prolific
playwrights penning several award winning plays the most popular of which was The Glass
Menagerie. His work is known for its dramatic flair, poetic language, heartbreaking themes, and gritty
characters that have made them timeless American classics. Tennessee was born Thomas Lanier
Williams III in March 1911 in Columbus, Mississippi to straight laced minister s daughter Edwina
Dakin Williams and a traveling salesman Cornelius Coffin Williams. In 1918, the family moved to
Louis, Missouri where Cornelius has found a job as the manager of the international Shoe Company in

Great Political Debates
The Great Political Debate Ben Franklin once said there is only two certainties in life, death and taxes.
Although you may not agree with this statement, it does provide two key topics that are highly
debated amongst parties of the United States democracy. In terms of death, abortion and the death
penalty are debated topics that each party has a different stance on. Those topics are an area of
government that do not have a consensus. When it comes to taxes, every party has general ambitions
on how to treat taxing citizens. Even though there are a multitude of political parties present in politics
today, the only parties that are repeatedly mentioned election after election are the democratic and
republican parties. These two parties usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The democratic party relates the issue of abortion in a court case called Roe verse Wade. In this court
case, the US Supreme Court affirmed the legality of a woman s right to have an abortion under the
14th amendment. As one can see, depending on how you interpret the 14th amendment determines the
outcome of legality. Since the Supreme Court is the final arbiter of the law, the states must grant the
right to abortion, regardless of being a red state or not. Another democratic view on abortion is that a
woman should never have to fear the ability to pay for an abortion. In the democratic platform for
America in 2004 it stated, we stand proudly for a woman s right to choose, consistent with Roe v.
Wade, and regardless of her ability to pay (Democratic platform). This is in opposition of the
republican view, as republicans do not want health care providers to provide for abortions. The
democratic view is that all women should have access to an abortion, which is most likely going to be
through health care. Overall, one can see that the democratic view on abortion differs from the
republican viewpoint through the interpretation of the 14th amendment and thoughts on paying for

The Male s Role In The Aztec Civilization
The Aztec Civilization started out as a nomadic tribe. This means that they moved places a lot. They
were also polytheistic. This means that they believed in many gods, not just one. They also had a very
complicated belief system. Everything was focused on the gods. They believed that if they make
human sacrifices to the sun god, the sun will always rise and the world will stay. If they didn t, the sun
will never rise and the world will end. This belief included taking their human sacrifice away from
their tribe and then stabbing them, taking their heart out of their chest, rising it into the sun and

delivery, and they also perform the ceremonial ritual s associated with the child s birth. They are very
much respected woman. Before the child is born, the midwife offers emotional support to the woman
carrying the baby about how to protect the unborn child. They also protected the unborn child and the
woman in a way. They would have to warn the woman to not look at red objects because it would
cause the child to be born in the wrong position. The women s role in the Aztec civilization was to get
married and become a housewife. They would get married around the age of 15. Sometimes they
would get married as young as 10 or 12. They were entitled and chosen for marriage unless they chose
to devote their lives to temple service. They could be priestess. When the girl is an infant, they can be
dedicated to the priesthood. When the woman is a priestess, they had to sweep the temple and the
court everyday, water the garden, and make food for the idols and priests. They would also have to be
involved in some rituals to the gods in which they would assist the priest in sacrifices in idol worship.
If they didn t want to do that, when they get older, they could either stay or leave the priesthood and

Aid Disease In Poor Countries
The reading and the lecture are both about AIDs disease, which is causing massive human loss in poor
countries. The author of the reading believes that drug manufacturing companies are taking advantage
of the situation to make more money and present various solutions. The lecturer casts doubt on the
claims made in the article. He thinks that although drug companies sell their products at high prices,
the solutions the reading proposes will not work.
First of all, the author points out that the drugs prices and the drug manufacturers are just concerned
about high profits. It is mentioned that drug prices should be cheaper for the poor countries facing the
pandemic problem. This point is challenged by the lecturer. He says that the drug companies cannot
reduce the price of the drugs. Furthermore, he argues that companies need high profits, as every
business, to keep making more drugs and without this profits the companies would not exist. ... Show

Federal Bureau Of Investigation ( Fbi ) Defines Terrorism
Introduction
The federal bureau of investigation (FBI) defines terrorism as the unlawful use of force and violence
against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, and/or any
segment thereof. If one makes the argument that BLM is a terrorist group the ideology of the
movement must fit within the framework stated above. First, BLM stands for Black Lives Matter . It,
in itself is nothing more than a concept about which all else revolves. It is true, the Black Lives Matter
movement has motivates however the motivates of these individuals is what sets them apart from
other groups in which has been labeled terrorist. Unlike terrorist groups, Black Lives Matter is not an
organization based on their ideology, one cannot attach the use of force and violence to the BLM
movement, and the movement does not coerce the civilian population.
Is BLM an Organization?
In addition to defining terrorism, you also have to address whether or not the Black Lives Matter
movement is an organization. An organization is defined as an organized body of people with a
particular purpose/ the act of organizing something. If guided by this definition one may find that
Black Lives Matter is not a organization. According to news companies headlining the BLM
interruption of Bernie Sanders campaign there was a very difficult question to answer; who is a part of
BLM? A question that still has no answer. The phrase Black Lives Matter can refer to a

Atkins Diet Healthy
Is the Atkins Diet healthy?
The Atkins Diet, also known as a ketogenic diet, promotes a low carbohydrate and high fat content in
an individual s eating habits.1 It was designed in 1972 by Dr. Robert Atkins, and its popularity derives
from the elimination of calorie counting and disregard for consumption restrictions on fat, protein
content, or portion size. 2, 3 The Atkins Diet is divided into four stages(insert 3). The initial stage
dramatically decreases carbohydrate intake to less than 20g per day(insert 3). Subsequently, every two
weeks carbohydrate intake increases; with attendant weight loss being a marker of successful
progression.3 This paper evaluates whether or not the Atkins Diet is healthy, in particular it narrows
the focus on aspects of three body systems: the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, and the
nervous system.
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), heart disease is the leading cause of death, with
risk factors such as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol; obesity, unhealthy eating, and
physical inactivity among others (cite CDC and NIH). The standard diet that is prevalent among the
American culture, is one that is rich in carbohydrates with a high glycemic index.4 ... Show more

Monsanto Pros And Cons
Many people talk about GMOs without even knowing what they are. GMO stands for genetically
modified organism, which does not sound like an appetizing name. (Whitman 1). The GMOs
discussed in this essay will be the GMOs developed by Monsanto, Monsanto is most known for their
genetically modified corn seeds; they make their seeds resistant to Roundup so that farmers can spray
the entire crop with Roundup and not have any adverse effects on the finished product (Whitman 1).
One may ask, why corn? This is a good question, corn is the biggest crop grown in America because it
can easily break down into many different components that can make up so many other resources. In
fact, corn is found in more than one half of the items found at the grocery store. Corn is easily broken
down into high fructose corn syrup, and so many other things, corn has even made its way into diapers
(Bawa and Anilakumar). The use of GMOs is widely considered safe, but there is a body of recent
evidence that has proven otherwise. The use of GMOs in corn crops, although at first sight seem very
beneficial to almost all aspects of corn farming, upon further inspection may have many unforeseen
downfalls. One cannot have a conversation about GMOs without talking about Monsanto. Monsanto
was founded in 1901 but has not become a big factor until fairly recently. As previously mentioned,
Monsanto genetically modifies their seeds to resist the effects of Roundup, they do this to many seeds
but mainly corn. The corn crops have been putting many small farmers out of business because of one
smart adjustment that Monsanto has done to the corn s DNA. They made it so that the plants do not
reproduce (Bawa and Anilakumar). This makes it so that farmers who use GMOs have to go out and
buy new seeds every year, and this gets very expensive. On top of this, the farmers need to buy
Roundup and other resources. Interestingly enough, the farmers lose money every year at harvest time
(Bawa and Anilakumar). One may be prompted to ask, how do the farmers stay in business? The only
way that the farmers make money is because corn is subsidized by the government, this is how the
farmers make their money. The farmers who do not use GMOs end up most of the time going

The Sixth Sense
The Sixth Sense is a PG 13 horror film released on August 6, 1999 by director M. Night Shyamalan. It
talks about a boy name Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) who is able to see and talk to people from the
dead and child psychiatrist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) tries to help him. Throughout the movie
there were abundance of scenes that made the movie memorable for the audience. One scene I found
this intriguing was the funeral scene. There were numerous techniques that were used during the scene
which ties everything for the audience to understand who the murderer was. Without analyzing the
funeral scene, the audience would not have believed that Cole could speak to the dead.

This extreme close up is focused on the video tape of Kyra s death. This video tape is one of the
symbolism of the three minute part that unlocks the murder mystery of the Kyra. They did a high
angle shot showing the tape which in our book it says, a style of lighting emphasizing harsh shafts and
dramatic streaks of lights and darks. Often used in thrillers and melodramas. They also had
movements of Kyra s father to react to this. In the script they said, The father looks down in a daze.
He goes to open the jewelry box. His movements are slow and strained. He lifts the latch and open the
box (Shyamalan, The Sixth Sense Final Draft 106). After this extreme close up we transition to a
medium close up. At the start of the tape a medium close up is shown back again in the film and this
shows the reaction of Kyra s father when he was watching the video Cole gave him. In order for this
medium close up to stand out from the previous one, they need to use a flat angle which means the
camera is the same project as the subject. The flat angle is directly to Kyra s father. We then go to the
television, which contains an angle density. The television angle was a perfect 90 degrees with terror

Potato Chip Calorimetry Lab
Calorimetry Lab
Introduction: As heat is released from an endothermic reaction, the heat is absorbed by another
substance, as energy, in this case heat, cannot be created nor destroyed. Through calorimetry and
enthalpy, the amount of energy absorbed by another substance can be measured using the equation
q=mcΔT, with the amount of energy in Joules equaling the mass, specific heat, and temperature
change of a substance, as in this experiment, with the heat released from the combustion of the potato
chip causing the temperature of the water above it to dry.
Purpose: The purpose of the calorimetry lab is to investigate the amount of energy in Calories
produced when a potato chip is consumed, in this case by fire.
Hypothesis: If the temperature of the chip rises, the temperature of the water above it will absorb some
of the energy released by the endothermic reaction of the burning potato chip.
Raw Data/ Results/ Observations: An increase in the mass of the potato chip resulted in an increase in
temperature change, with the height of the water above the flame produced by the burning chip
remaining constant. Although there was ½ gram more water in the second experiment, the ... Show

The Crash Of The United States Air Force
Unfortunately, crashes and crises aren t a new things in today s world. Far too often we have car
crashes, boats sinking, car explosions, or bus crashes. Not too often do you hear about plane crashes,
however, when you do it is fatal. One truly amazing plane crash involved two amazing pilots, birds,
and one miracle landing on the Hudson. One captain of flight 1549 was captain Chesley Sullenberger,
age of fifty eight at the time. Sullenberger was no rookie to flying he had been flying since 15 when he
enlisted in flight lessons from a local pilot in his hometown. At the age of eighteen Sullenberger went
on to become a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force, he spent the next ten years in the air force
until being asked to be a pilot for U.S. Airways. Chesley logged a total of 20,000 hours of pilotry in
his career and spent his free time learning and teaching pilots about flight safety and how to prepare
for the worst. Chesley spent hours learning the anatomy of a plane, as well as various crashes and
famous pilots learning exactly what needed to happen if such an occasion were to occur. Of course we
all know that every crash is different and no matter how much you study you will never be truly
prepared for such an event. Sullenberger has two daughters one of sixteen and the other of fourteen
and a wife. Thursday morning, before the crash Sullenberger woke up early, he drove to San Francisco

Ambitions are extremely important to possess, but could cause others to stare at one with discontent

story progresses, the children are faced with the challenge that they could be caught by Old Misery. T

Couples that remarry have even higher rates of divorce (http://apa.org/). Of the many potential
presenting problems, a research study completed by Miller, Yorgason, Sandberg, and White (2003),
found that communication was the most common presenting issue for both spouses. A similar study by
Doss, Simpson, and Christenen (2004), identified communication and emotional affection as the
leading causes for why couples seek therapy; wives generally reported communication first, while
husbands reported emotional affection. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chapter II
Review of the Literature
This chapter provides a brief introduction to the theory and practice of Solutions Focused Brief
Therapy as well as an introduction to important supporting research.
Theory and Practice
Solutions Focused Brief Therapy centers on the belief that clients have the ability to solve their own
problems. The role of the therapist is to assist clients to tap into resources they already possess
(Cheung, 2005; Corey, 2012). One of the key differences between SFBT and other therapies is the
emphasis on looking for solutions as opposed to focusing on problems. This is one of the key
differentiators that allows SFBT to help clients achieve their goals in as few as 5 sessions (de Shazer,
1991). By the skillful use of questions, the therapist is able to help the client explore times when the
presenting problem was less pronounced or even absent, ultimately realizing they can envision how to
solve their own problems. As early as the first session, after each client has been able to voice the
problem that brought them to therapy, clients will begin to explore these questions and given
homework that is solution focused (Chueng, 2005; Corey, 2012; de Shazer Berg, 1997; Mudd, 2000).
Research
Gingerich and Eisengart (2000) completed a review of available research studies and posited that
SFBT can be effective with a wide range of

1.0 History of methyl mercury
The first organic mercury compounds were studied in the 1800s, with serious incidences of
methylmercury poisoning reported in 1865. Initial reports indicated a divergent symptoms associated
with methyl mercury poisoning. The symptoms include: loss of coordination, tunnel vision, deafness,
extremities, impaired speech and altered face sensation. Approximately a century later, contrary to the
decreased methylmercury effects, the clinical picture re emerged. Therefore, development of more
harm to human health was suspected. However, international agreement to control pollution by
mercury was not reached until 2009. According to the historical evaluations made, the effects of
methylmercury toxicity such as forgetfulness, lack of coordination affected the research on
environmental health (Bernhoft, R. 2011). In 1914, methylmercury developed a commercial
significance as it was used as a crop fungicide. However, the use of the fungicide globally was
accompanied by several incidences of food and workers

Inventing A Christian America Summary
In reading Inventing a Christian America , it really opens up to a whole new way of looking at the
early 18th and 19th century America. Green makes many key points about religion in America during
that time and the Founding Fathers. He simply wants us to understand the myth of this country.
Throughout the book it becomes one question of; did the Founding Fathers establish the United States
as a Christian Nation? It was truly meant to be a Christian America but the way of Enlightenment was
slowly approaching. Steven Green argues that the origin myth of a Christian founding did not begin
with the founding generation, but decades later and that today s Christian nationalists promote an
erroneous reading of our past that distorts even that 19th century version of our beginnings. The

The book goes into the original English settlers who were mostly Protestant and some came to escape
limitations placed on their own freedom of religious. Rather than prolong that prospect to others they
enthusiastically prohibited from practicing freely all Catholics, Jews, Quakers, and many Protestants
who dissented from the main Church of England in the south and puritans in New England. Although
many did not come to America for religious reasons at all, but for economic opportunities. The
founders such as Jefferson saw the dangers of this legacy of religious intolerance and therefore formed
a nation that rejected a Christian establishment. They moved beyond mere tolerance of multiple
religions in favor of religious liberty and asserted freedom of conscience to be a natural right. To build
such a society, they invented early colonial societies dedicated to religious liberty. The fathers looked
to secular political compact theory for their inspiration, the same theory in fact that inspired the
puritans to develop their religiously infused covenant. Those looking for a purely American origin
myth invented a path from the mayflower compact to the U.S.

Solubility Product Constant Lab Report
Determine the solubility product constant (Kₛₚ) of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) by using the
concentrations of calcium and hydroxide found during titration.
The solubility product constant, or Kₛₚ, represents the level at which a substance dissolves in a solution
at equilibrium. A higher Kₛₚ value means the more soluble a substance is in a solution. The solubility
product constant, similar to solubility, is temperature dependent. When writing the expression for Kₛₚ
solids and liquids do not appear since their concentrations do not change, only aqueous solutions are
expressed.
The Kₛₚ equation would be written as Kₛₚ= [C]^c[D]^d. The reason the reactant aA is not included is
because it is a solid, therefore not represented in the expression. ... Show more content on

So the 0.050 concentration of HCl affects how fast the rate of solubility will occur. If there was a
higher concentration the faster the reaction would occur.
The temperature affects how effective the solute molecules break apart. The higher the temperature the
more kinetic energy is formed, which increases the effectiveness of finding the solubility constant.
If the Ca(OH)₂ was not filtered correctly during the experiment the concentrations of the experiment
would be off. If cloudiness still remained in the solute after filtration then the more HCl would have
been used to find the solubility of calcium hydroxide. Filtering correctly helps with the effectiveness
of breaking apart molecules to find specific concentrations to find the total solubility product constant.
The best option to finding the correct final product is to filter until clear.
If too much or too little of the saturated solute was used how could that affect the experiment? More
solute means more solvent, but however, with the final calculations, the final product should be the
same if data was recorded

Amateur Politicians And The Presidential Election
In all Congressional elections in the United States the incumbent and the challenger can be classified
into one of two groups for each situation. The incumbent can be a strong incumbent, which is an
individual who either won a large percentage of the vote or one who consistently wins in the district
election after election. Many strong incumbents have safe seats in the House of Representative when
they win at least 60% of the vote in an election (Shaffer 10 01 2015). Strong incumbents typically are
not challenged by individuals who have extensive experience in public office. Instead, strong
incumbents are usually challenged by amateur politicians. Amateur politicians are individuals who
may have little or no political experience. Types of amateur politicians include cause politicians, who
are attempting to relay a message on a specific issue on a national platform, celebrity amateurs who
have high name recognition but no previous experience in an elected office, and those individuals who
are either naïve or are businessmen (ex. lawyers) who want to get their name into the public sphere in
order to gain business (Davidson and Oleszek, 2016, 58). A weak incumbent is a representative who
either won by a very small margin or a freshman representative who does not have very much
experience in national elected office, or both (Davidson and Oleszek, 2016, 60). This incumbent is
typically challenged by what is known as a strategic politician. A strategic politician is a strong

African American Women Have A Long History Of Being...
African American women have a long history of being political activists. African American
foremothers, such as: Frances E.W. Harper, Maria Stewart, Sarah Mapps Douglass, Sarah Parker
Remond, Harriet Jacobs, Mary Ann Shadd Cary, and Ida B. Wells were fighting for racial, social, and
gender equality since slavery and the Emancipation Proclamation. Whether it is in print culture or in
public culture African American women have continuously protested the treatment of African
Americans and women in America. Yet, the presence of women (especially African American women)
was not welcomed in America s public domain. In fact, it deviated from acceptable gender roles.

Laurel Thatcher Ulrich is generally accredited for the quote: Well behaved women seldom make
history . Laurel Thatcher Ulrich quote perfectly captures the struggle of equality and the entrapment of
femininity that all women face. In order for most women to protest the oppression traditional gender
role place on women, they (women) would have to deviate against societal gender norms. The narrow
framework of Victorian s true womanhood did not allow women to challenge their treatment in a
patriarchal society. It would have been impossible for a woman to assert her independence and rally
for her civil rights and civil liberties in American society; while, still upholding the status of a true
woman . Thatcher Ulrich quote embodies the public s perception of women who differed from social
gender norms. Their actions were not viewed as heroic or innovative; instead women were publicly
ridiculed as deviants and inappropriate women. They were in the outgroup of American society.
The negative labeling giving to women who rally for women s rights served as a public ramification to
any woman who felt oppressed in America s male normative society. Placing criterions on
womanhood allowed for women to be socially bondage to social perceptions of their behavior. The
negative labeling of women s worth also encouraged social backlash against activist women. Three of
the most popular negative labels placed on women were

Comp 2 Class Reflection
Writing is a skill that needs to be practiced. Before this class, I didn t care about the writing because
my high school teachers didn t care about my writing, as long as I turn a paper, I would be fine. Now,
at the end of my Comp 2 class, I can assure I have improved my skills. From simply using MLA 8th
format to writing an ethnography, this class has helped me get a more advanced writing style to
accomplish the requirements that higher education requires. First of all, before this class my MLA
formatting was wrong. For example, instead of writing Prof. Webb I wrote Pamela Webb, another
example is the class, instead of writing ENGL 1231 201 I wrote ENGL 1231, Section 201. I made
these mistakes because instead of asking a professor for help, I thought to ask Google was good
enough to get the knowledge and skills to write a good essay. Now instead of using Google for the
answer, I try to ask and get in touch with my professors whenever I have questions, so I can do my
assignments as my professors want them. I have never taken criticism good, so it was hard for me

It also shows me how to write a good literary work and how hard it is. I used to think that writing was
the easiest thing ever; just throw some words in a paper and it s done, but in reality, writing is a
process where I have to take my time, sometimes read the instructions more than once, and I have to
decide where I stand according to my topic, so I can have a good argument for why I believe that is
right. Finally, this class will be beneficial not only in my academic life but also in my professional.
Now that I have the skills to write a paper my future classes will be easier when I have to write a
report or those type of assignments. On the other hand, this class will impact my professional life, by
helping to write property so people will be confident about my knowledge and

Voting Behavior Essay
Less than 50% of eligible voters will turn out to vote at national elections, and at the local elections
there are less than 25%. There is a correlation between voting behavior and the demographic of those
voting.
Typically, people ages 30 to 65 have been the most likely to vote in the past years. This is in great
cause due to this age group being the most politically active. People in this group are more likely to
have established homes, steady jobs, and part of the community. They have stronger incentives to be
involved in what can affect their lives.
Younger people ages 18 24 have been less likely to vote in the past due to lack of interest, money, or
time to go. Also, they just had a lack of information so they just didn t care to have ... Show more

Women have exceeded the turnout rate of men in presidential elections since 1986. They believe that
this is due to the prominence of issues important to women, such as abortion, education, and child
welfare.
When it comes to race we have come a long way for voting rights. Since the voting barriers have been
eliminated the African American citizens vote at least as often as white citizens with the same
economic status. African Americans are more involved in politics than other minorities in the US and
have the highest level of voter registration and participation. The Latinos only average about 49% of
eligible voters to vote. One of the big problems for them is the language barrier, but with the Latino
population increasing there is a rise of Spanish campaigning being done alongside the English.
Religion is a big motivator for whether or not people are voting. When there are big issues on trial that
go against your beliefs there is a greater desire for you to voice your opinions and be heard. Voters that
identify with Christian rights have a higher turnout rate and vote more frequently since there is almost
always a religious issue up for

Interracial Marriages And Its Effect On Society
Interracial Marriages (relationships) have existed for years, though society traditionally has had
difficulty accepting these unions. Over the years, attitudes toward interracial relationships have
changed dramatically and will likely continue to change as our society becomes increasingly diverse.
An interracial marriage is generally defined as the union between two individuals who come from
different racial/ethnic backgrounds, such as and African American women and a white American male.
Interracial has been difficult to define. Society has had difficulties accepting interracial relationships.
Don t let opinions get in the way of love. Slaves at this time were legally permitted to marry, though
many enslaved people entered into extralegal marriages that were recognized in their own
communities. Most states prohibited interracial marriages. These prohibitions, which were known as
antimiscegenation laws (a term that originated In the 1860s), gained strengths. These laws applied
only to marriages between African American and whites. Racial prejudices also affected the
government s use of marriage as a way to confer citizenship. In 1855 Congress passed a law granting
citizenship to foreign women who married American men (Edwards). From colonial times until the
1960s, antimiscegenation laws declaring race mixing and intermarriage illegal were common in most
state laws. These laws were intended to protect whiteness and thus were not generally enforced for
marriages

The Tragedy Of Macbeth By Raphael Holinshed
Do we really know all of the facts about Macbeth solely based on Shakespeare s play? Shakespeare
took great liberties with the material in Raphael Holinshed s series called, Holinshed s Chronicles,
altering it to suit his dramatic purposes (McGraw, 306). Most of the information in the play, The
Tragedy of Macbeth is based off of Holinshed s books, therefore, Macbeth is portrayed extremely
different in the play than he actually was in reality. Macbeth was born in c. 1005 at Alba, Scotland.
His parent s names are Findlaech mac Ruaidri and Doada. Macbeth s father was Mormaer of Moray
until he was killed by his cousin s, Malcolm and Gillecomgain, which was possibly brought on by
Findlaech being too close to Malcolm II. His mother was the second daughter of Malcolm II
(bio.com). Macbeth married Gruoch, also mentioned by the name of Lady Macbeth in the play, and
she had a son named Lulach, which made him Macbeth s stepson (Heydt, 55 7). Macbeth died on
August 15, 1057 at Lumphanan, Scotland. He was buried in the Holy Isle of Iony, which was where
many of the Scottish kings were buried (bio.com). When Macbeth s father was murdered, he
disappeared for a while because he was not mature enough to take on that kind of responsibility so
someone else took his place until he was able to make rational decisions on his own and until he was
mature enough to carry on his father s legacy by taking on the title of Mormaer of Moray (Heydt, 55
7). Around 1032, Macbeth returned, and was

Madonna with the Long Neck
This painting was created by the artist Parmigianino in 1534 1535 during the Renaissance Mannerism
time period in Florence, Italy. The painting is oil on wood. The painting portrays the Virgin Mary
placed on a high pedestal in extravagant robes, holding a very large baby Jesus on her lap. Next to her
are a few angels showing interest in the baby Jesus. In the lower right hand corner of the painting
shows the emaciated figure of St. Jerome. A representation of St. Jerome was required by the
administrator because of the saint s relation with the adoration of the Virgin Mary. The Madonna with
the Long Neck is a portrayal of the Virgin Mary who seems to be very disproportioned.

Holden s Transition Into an Adult

restrictions of a society that doesn t value the individual and expects its citizens to morph into mature,
controllable adults. This is the time parents hate, the time when their children try to rebel or run away

Holden already knew Sally s personality from previous encounters. Jane, however, he is not too sure
about. Another thing that Holden is afraid might have changed is Jane Gallagher. Throughout the

who won t move the last row of checkers than get to know Jane all over again. Holden doesn t want to

In this court case, the US Supreme Court affirmed the legality of a woman s right to have an abortion under the 14th amendment. In the democratic platform for America in 2004 it stated, we stand proudly for a woman s right to choose, consistent with Roe v. Wade, and regardless of her ability to pay (Democratic platform). This is in opposition of the republican view, as republicans do not want health care providers to provide for abortions. The democratic view is that all women should have access to an abortion, which is most likely going to be through health care. Overall, one can see that the democratic view on abortion differs from the republican viewpoint through the interpretation of the 14th amendment and thoughts on paying for ... • 14. Monsanto Pros And Cons Many people talk about GMOs without even knowing what they are. GMO stands for genetically modified organism, which does not sound like an appetizing name. (Whitman 1). The GMOs discussed in this essay will be the GMOs developed by Monsanto, Monsanto is most known for their genetically modified corn seeds; they make their seeds resistant to Roundup so that farmers can spray the entire crop with Roundup and not have any adverse effects on the finished product (Whitman 1). One may ask, why corn? This is a good question, corn is the biggest crop grown in America because it can easily break down into many different components that can make up so many other resources. In fact, corn is found in more than one half of the items found at the grocery store. Corn is easily broken down into high fructose corn syrup, and so many other things, corn has even made its way into diapers (Bawa and Anilakumar). The use of GMOs is widely considered safe, but there is a body of recent evidence that has proven otherwise. The use of GMOs in corn crops, although at first sight seem very beneficial to almost all aspects of corn farming, upon further inspection may have many unforeseen downfalls. One cannot have a conversation about GMOs without talking about Monsanto. Monsanto was founded in 1901 but has not become a big factor until fairly recently. As previously mentioned, Monsanto genetically modifies their seeds to resist the effects of Roundup, they do this to many seeds but mainly corn. The corn crops have been putting many small farmers out of business because of one smart adjustment that Monsanto has done to the corn s DNA. They made it so that the plants do not reproduce (Bawa and Anilakumar). This makes it so that farmers who use GMOs have to go out and buy new seeds every year, and this gets very expensive. On top of this, the farmers need to buy Roundup and other resources. Interestingly enough, the farmers lose money every year at harvest time (Bawa and Anilakumar). One may be prompted to ask, how do the farmers stay in business? The only way that the farmers make money is because corn is subsidized by the government, this is how the farmers make their money. The farmers who do not use GMOs end up most of the time going ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It talks about a boy name Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) who is able to see and talk to people from the dead and child psychiatrist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) tries to help him. Throughout the movie there were abundance of scenes that made the movie memorable for the audience. One scene I found this intriguing was the funeral scene. There were numerous techniques that were used during the scene which ties everything for the audience to understand who the murderer was. Without analyzing the funeral scene, the audience would not have believed that Cole could speak to the dead. Cole was one of Malcolm patients and Cole could not find a person to ... They also had movements of Kyra s father to react to this. In the script they said, The father looks down in a daze. He goes to open the jewelry box. His movements are slow and strained. He lifts the latch and open the box (Shyamalan, The Sixth Sense Final Draft 106). After this extreme close up we transition to a medium close up. At the start of the tape a medium close up is shown back again in the film and this shows the reaction of Kyra s father when he was watching the video Cole gave him. In order for this medium close up to stand out from the previous one, they need to use a flat angle which means the camera is the same project as the subject. The flat angle is directly to Kyra s father. We then go to the television, which contains an angle density. • 16. Potato Chip Calorimetry Lab Calorimetry Lab Introduction: As heat is released from an endothermic reaction, the heat is absorbed by another substance, as energy, in this case heat, cannot be created nor destroyed. Through calorimetry and enthalpy, the amount of energy absorbed by another substance can be measured using the equation q=mcΔT, with the amount of energy in Joules equaling the mass, specific heat, and temperature change of a substance, as in this experiment, with the heat released from the combustion of the potato chip causing the temperature of the water above it to dry. Purpose: The purpose of the calorimetry lab is to investigate the amount of energy in Calories produced when a potato chip is consumed, in this case by fire. Hypothesis: If the temperature of the chip rises, the temperature of the water above it will absorb some of the energy released by the endothermic reaction of the burning potato chip. Raw Data/ Results/ Observations: An increase in the mass of the potato chip resulted in an increase in temperature change, with the height of the water above the flame produced by the burning chip remaining constant. Far too often we have car crashes, boats sinking, car explosions, or bus crashes. Not too often do you hear about plane crashes, however, when you do it is fatal. One truly amazing plane crash involved two amazing pilots, birds, and one miracle landing on the Hudson. One captain of flight 1549 was captain Chesley Sullenberger, age of fifty eight at the time. Sullenberger was no rookie to flying he had been flying since 15 when he enlisted in flight lessons from a local pilot in his hometown. At the age of eighteen Sullenberger went on to become a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force, he spent the next ten years in the air force until being asked to be a pilot for U.S. Airways. Chesley logged a total of 20,000 hours of pilotry in his career and spent his free time learning and teaching pilots about flight safety and how to prepare for the worst. Chesley spent hours learning the anatomy of a plane, as well as various crashes and famous pilots learning exactly what needed to happen if such an occasion were to occur. Of course we all know that every crash is different and no matter how much you study you will never be truly prepared for such an event. Theory and Practice Solutions Focused Brief Therapy centers on the belief that clients have the ability to solve their own problems. The role of the therapist is to assist clients to tap into resources they already possess (Cheung, 2005; Corey, 2012). One of the key differences between SFBT and other therapies is the emphasis on looking for solutions as opposed to focusing on problems. This is one of the key differentiators that allows SFBT to help clients achieve their goals in as few as 5 sessions (de Shazer, 1991). By the skillful use of questions, the therapist is able to help the client explore times when the presenting problem was less pronounced or even absent, ultimately realizing they can envision how to solve their own problems. As early as the first session, after each client has been able to voice the problem that brought them to therapy, clients will begin to explore these questions and given homework that is solution focused (Chueng, 2005; Corey, 2012; de Shazer Berg, 1997; Mudd, 2000). Green makes many key points about religion in America during that time and the Founding Fathers. He simply wants us to understand the myth of this country. Throughout the book it becomes one question of; did the Founding Fathers establish the United States as a Christian Nation? It was truly meant to be a Christian America but the way of Enlightenment was slowly approaching. Steven Green argues that the origin myth of a Christian founding did not begin with the founding generation, but decades later and that today s Christian nationalists promote an erroneous reading of our past that distorts even that 19th century version of our beginnings. The founders such as Jefferson saw the dangers of this legacy of religious intolerance and therefore formed a nation that rejected a Christian establishment. To build such a society, they invented early colonial societies dedicated to religious liberty. Solubility Product Constant Lab Report Determine the solubility product constant (Kₛₚ) of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)₂) by using the concentrations of calcium and hydroxide found during titration. The solubility product constant, or Kₛₚ, represents the level at which a substance dissolves in a solution at equilibrium. A higher Kₛₚ value means the more soluble a substance is in a solution. The solubility product constant, similar to solubility, is temperature dependent. When writing the expression for Kₛₚ solids and liquids do not appear since their concentrations do not change, only aqueous solutions are expressed. The temperature affects how effective the solute molecules break apart. The higher the temperature the more kinetic energy is formed, which increases the effectiveness of finding the solubility constant. If the Ca(OH)₂ was not filtered correctly during the experiment the concentrations of the experiment would be off. If cloudiness still remained in the solute after filtration then the more HCl would have been used to find the solubility of calcium hydroxide. Filtering correctly helps with the effectiveness of breaking apart molecules to find specific concentrations to find the total solubility product constant. • 25. Amateur Politicians And The Presidential Election In all Congressional elections in the United States the incumbent and the challenger can be classified into one of two groups for each situation. The incumbent can be a strong incumbent, which is an individual who either won a large percentage of the vote or one who consistently wins in the district election after election. Many strong incumbents have safe seats in the House of Representative when they win at least 60% of the vote in an election (Shaffer 10 01 2015). Strong incumbents typically are not challenged by individuals who have extensive experience in public office. Instead, strong incumbents are usually challenged by amateur politicians. Amateur politicians are individuals who may have little or no political experience. Types of amateur politicians include cause politicians, who are attempting to relay a message on a specific issue on a national platform, celebrity amateurs who have high name recognition but no previous experience in an elected office, and those individuals who are either naïve or are businessmen (ex. lawyers) who want to get their name into the public sphere in order to gain business (Davidson and Oleszek, 2016, 58). A weak incumbent is a representative who either won by a very small margin or a freshman representative who does not have very much experience in national elected office, or both (Davidson and Oleszek, 2016, 60). • 32. The Tragedy Of Macbeth By Raphael Holinshed Do we really know all of the facts about Macbeth solely based on Shakespeare s play? Shakespeare took great liberties with the material in Raphael Holinshed s series called, Holinshed s Chronicles, altering it to suit his dramatic purposes (McGraw, 306). Most of the information in the play, The Tragedy of Macbeth is based off of Holinshed s books, therefore, Macbeth is portrayed extremely different in the play than he actually was in reality. Macbeth was born in c. 1005 at Alba, Scotland. His parent s names are Findlaech mac Ruaidri and Doada. Macbeth s father was Mormaer of Moray until he was killed by his cousin s, Malcolm and Gillecomgain, which was possibly brought on by Findlaech being too close to Malcolm II. His mother was the second daughter of Malcolm II (bio.com). Macbeth married Gruoch, also mentioned by the name of Lady Macbeth in the play, and she had a son named Lulach, which made him Macbeth s stepson (Heydt, 55 7). Macbeth died on August 15, 1057 at Lumphanan, Scotland. He was buried in the Holy Isle of Iony, which was where many of the Scottish kings were buried (bio.com). When Macbeth s father was murdered, he disappeared for a while because he was not mature enough to take on that kind of responsibility so someone else took his place until he was able to make rational decisions on his own and until he was mature enough to carry on his father s legacy by taking on the title of Mormaer of Moray (Heydt, 55 7). Around 1032, Macbeth returned, and was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Holden s Transition Into an Adult There is a moment in every child s life where he or she realizes that growing up is not as desirable as they once thought. Before this moment they fantasize about not having a bedtime or driving or finally being able to drink. But then they feel the weight of the adult world with its responsibilities and restrictions of a society that doesn t value the individual and expects its citizens to morph into mature, controllable adults. This is the time parents hate, the time when their children try to rebel or run away to escape their future as adults, but time, alas, cannot be outrun. The adult world expects many things of its inhabitants a job, a family, taxes, sex, and much more. Unfortunately, most young adults feel as though they will be ... Holden wouldn t be able to keep himself alive for longer than a week if he just packed up and moved to the wilderness. And he would still need to communicate with adults to get the supplies he wanted even if he did pretend to be a deaf mute. Sally s flat out refusal of the plan shows the qualities of a sure thinking adult, and that is why he calls her the queen of phonies because she s already acting like an adult. Physiologists say that girls mature faster than boys do so it would make sense that Holden is avoiding the adult world instead or embracing it like Sally. But Holden already knew Sally s personality from previous encounters. Jane, however, he is not too sure about. Another thing that Holden is afraid might have changed is Jane Gallagher. Throughout the novel Holden is searching for a person to call and almost calls her but time after time he puts it off by saying that he s not in the mood (Salinger 59). Holden doesn t want to call Jane and find out that she has changed since the last time they were together. Holden would rather live with a memory of a girl who won t move the last row of checkers than get to know Jane all over again. Holden doesn t want to face it, but his world is losing its innocence Sally, Jane, and even Holden are maturing, even if it is at different rates. Holden is dimly aware that in the ...
