Holly Morsley
Props – Make-up
These props include red lipsticks, multi-coloured
eye shadows and mascaras. These props will be
worn and dirty – like they have been used a lot.
They will also be placed over the desk unorganised
to reflect the chaotic nature of the industry. This
prop will only be used in the beginning while the
character is getting ready for the shoot, however
it is important in establishing the character’s
personality and the cruel nature of the industry in
terms of forcing standards on the artists. The use
of make-up is standard within the pop genre on
females however, as a male is using it, this prop
will not relate to the genre. This prop will be used
by the artist as he is getting ready for the shoot.
However with the target audience being girls, this
prop will hopefully relate to the audience. In order
to relate this prop to the target audience further,
the brands will be high-street brands such as
Maybelline or L’Oreal which will allow the artist to
relate to the audience by showing products that
they would use.
Prop – Laptop
The purpose of the laptop is to show
the video of the woman that the artist
is watching at the beginning of the
video and during the speaking parts.
This prop, while not used outrightly by
the principle character, it is important
in presenting the woman within the
narrative without taking the audience
out of the narrative.
This prop will be presented as being
clean and looked after as to reflect
the materialistic nature of the pop
industry. It will be acknowledged once
by the actor and will be interacted
with once. Hopefully the prop will be
able to be related to the target
audience as it is common for younger
teenage girls to own a laptop.
Furthermore the pop industry is
known for including these products
within their videos to keep up with
modern trends.
Prop - Microphone
 This prop will be used by the artist and
will be used in the studio, where the
performance aspect of the lyrics will
take place. This prop is imperative to
showing that the character is
performing the song during the video.
 Most members of the audience will be
able to relate to this and recognise this
as part of the music industry. Whether
the microphone will appear on a
microphone stand will depend on the
availability of one. Using one will relate
the video back to older music videos
where a microphone stand was used
more commonly – relating it to an
older audience. However having the
microphone by itself will further
highlight that sense of rebellion in the
artist and allow them to relate to the
younger audience.

Props

  • 2. Props – Make-up These props include red lipsticks, multi-coloured eye shadows and mascaras. These props will be worn and dirty – like they have been used a lot. They will also be placed over the desk unorganised to reflect the chaotic nature of the industry. This prop will only be used in the beginning while the character is getting ready for the shoot, however it is important in establishing the character’s personality and the cruel nature of the industry in terms of forcing standards on the artists. The use of make-up is standard within the pop genre on females however, as a male is using it, this prop will not relate to the genre. This prop will be used by the artist as he is getting ready for the shoot. However with the target audience being girls, this prop will hopefully relate to the audience. In order to relate this prop to the target audience further, the brands will be high-street brands such as Maybelline or L’Oreal which will allow the artist to relate to the audience by showing products that they would use.
  • 3. Prop – Laptop The purpose of the laptop is to show the video of the woman that the artist is watching at the beginning of the video and during the speaking parts. This prop, while not used outrightly by the principle character, it is important in presenting the woman within the narrative without taking the audience out of the narrative. This prop will be presented as being clean and looked after as to reflect the materialistic nature of the pop industry. It will be acknowledged once by the actor and will be interacted with once. Hopefully the prop will be able to be related to the target audience as it is common for younger teenage girls to own a laptop. Furthermore the pop industry is known for including these products within their videos to keep up with modern trends.
  • 4. Prop - Microphone  This prop will be used by the artist and will be used in the studio, where the performance aspect of the lyrics will take place. This prop is imperative to showing that the character is performing the song during the video.  Most members of the audience will be able to relate to this and recognise this as part of the music industry. Whether the microphone will appear on a microphone stand will depend on the availability of one. Using one will relate the video back to older music videos where a microphone stand was used more commonly – relating it to an older audience. However having the microphone by itself will further highlight that sense of rebellion in the artist and allow them to relate to the younger audience.
