It involves opening Photoshop, creating a new document with the correct dimensions, importing the album cover image and saving it as a JPEG, placing the cover image on the poster, adding a black background image from Google Images, resizing and adjusting images, adding text with different fonts and effects, and including logos and a QR code from online to provide purchase and engagement options.
The document describes the steps taken to create the spines for a digi-pack in Photoshop. This involves opening a new document, saving the back cover as an image, importing the image and cropping it for use on the spine. Text including the artist name, album name and serial number are added along with effects like shadows and textures. The logo is also imported, resized and styled before saving the completed spines as images.
The document describes the steps taken to create a new document in Photoshop, import an image, and edit the image. The author resized the image, adjusted colors using selective color and curves tools, and edited brightness and contrast. Settings were adjusted for neutrals, reds, and the top half of the image individually. The edited image was then saved as a JPEG.
The document describes the steps taken to design the back cover of a digital music package in Photoshop. It involves opening Photoshop, creating a new document, importing an image, resizing and adjusting the colors of the image, adding a white textured background, and finally including a barcode. Multiple adjustment tools in Photoshop like Selective Color, Brightness/Contrast, and Curves are used to fine-tune the image colors.
The document describes the process of creating an album cover in Photoshop. It involves opening Photoshop and creating a new document, then adding an image and making adjustments. These include removing red eye, duplicating layers, adjusting colors, selecting parts of the image, adding effects, removing shine, and adding borders. Additional images are opened and incorporated, such as a white border and pattern images. Layers, masks, tools and transforms are used to edit and combine all elements into the final album cover design.
This document analyzes the language, institution/ideology, audience, and representation conveyed by a digipack and album poster for a pop punk artist. The dark colors and feminine fonts/swirls suggest serious but delicate subject matter that appeals to both men and women. As with the music video, the target audience is ages 15-25 who relate to the artist's experiences and themes of feeling lost. Depicting the artist alone in dark woods represents how they feel trapped and confused in life, though different audiences may interpret it differently. The independent record label and themes of darkness and loneliness highlight the artist grappling with life decisions.
The document is a coursework evaluation that discusses how the student's media product uses and challenges conventions of real music videos. It summarizes how the student's music video does not feature an artist, uses lip syncing, was shot in multiple locations with different cameras, and has a conceptual style. It also discusses how the student's CD cover and still shots from the music video follow conventions of indie/rock albums. The student believes their media products will be effective at promotion because the CD cover and still shots will be repeated across different promotional materials to repeatedly expose the audience to the artist and song.
The document discusses how the media product conforms to and challenges conventions of real music videos and the alternative rock genre. It follows conventions such as showing the relationship between the music and visuals, using close-ups of the band members, and choosing a gritty, abandoned location. However, it chooses not to focus on the relationship between lyrics and visuals or use a narrative concept to instead emphasize the band's musical skills. The document also discusses how the designed digipak and magazine advertisement conform to conventions like including lyrics but develop them by printing the lyrics under the CD rather than in a separate booklet.
The document discusses the conventions used in media products like music videos, as well as how the author's products both follow and challenge some of these conventions. Specifically:
- The author's music video includes performance elements and lip syncing to connect to the song, but challenges conventions by showing both the male protagonist and a female lip syncing to represent the song's perspective.
- Elements like costumes, fonts, and imagery are carried over across the music video, album packaging, and advertisement to create cohesion and a recognizable brand.
- The author aimed to both utilize standard conventions like promotional information but also add their own style and narrative, such as setting the products in a 1950s era, to make their
The document discusses how the media producer's music video challenges and develops conventions of real media products. It summarizes the producer's research process, including exploring conventions of genres like rap music and being inspired by specific music videos. The producer aimed to hybridize conventions and include elements like transitions between scenes, references to other works, and a focus on performance. The document also discusses how the producer challenged conventions in the album packaging and poster through approaches like repetitive visual elements and references to other media works.
The document discusses how the author's music video challenges conventions of real media products. It incorporates techniques used by director Marc Webb, such as open spaces and landscapes. It is inspired by stop motion videos like "Lost Things". Stop motion is gaining popularity and the author hopes to progress the genre. The video matches the instrumental music and expresses the artist's emotions through a somber expression. It lacks advanced technology and intertextual references to create a timeless, rural feel fitting the music. This challenges conventions by not using lip syncing to portray the artist as melancholy in line with the song's lyrics.
The music video and ancillary tasks effectively represented the indie rock genre through their use of mise-en-scene, influences, and conventions. The music video featured live performance shots of the band interspersed with a narrative to engage viewers. Lighting, camerawork, editing, and a black and white filter were used to symbolize the protagonist's emotions and conform to indie conventions. The ancillary tasks, a magazine ad and album packaging, featured close-ups of the frontman to develop the band's brand and referenced other iconic indie bands and magazines. A consistent green color scheme across tasks also helped establish the band's identity.
The document discusses how the author of a music video product followed and challenged conventions of the genre. They mostly conformed to conventions like using natural locations, matching edits to the song pace, and a black and white color scheme. However, they challenged conventions by using an ambiguous storyline rather than a typical love story, and experimenting with mixing black and white and color footage. For their website and digipak ancillary tasks, the author conformed to conventions like using consistent branding but challenged overly contrasting colors in favor of more complimentary tones fitting the genre.
The document discusses how the media product develops and challenges conventions of real media products.
It develops conventions by using typical indie pop music video elements like low-budget locations, simple props, modern costumes, and narrative/performance elements. However, it also challenges conventions by using fragmented narrative, abstract props, and lack of structure to represent bipolar disorder symptoms realistically.
The document also discusses how conventions are developed in the ancillary texts through typical design elements, but are challenged through unique styles and focus on the artist over props.
The document summarizes how various media technologies were used at different stages of creating a music video for the Sex Pistols song "Schools Are Prisons." Technologies like blogs, Facebook, digital cameras, video cameras, and editing software helped with planning, research, construction, and evaluation. Feedback showed the video could have improved lighting and shot quality to better convey the meaning and punk genre.

Technologies like blogs, Facebook, digital cameras, video cameras, and editing software were used for planning, research, construction, and evaluation. Feedback from audiences suggested improving video quality, lighting, and better linking shots to the music's meaning.
The document discusses how the creator of a music video product followed conventions of the genre to make the video appealing and familiar to the target audience, while also experimenting with some unconventional elements. Specifically, the creator shot portions of the indie/acoustic music video in natural, rustic locations commonly used in other videos in the genre. While mostly adhering to conventions like matching cuts to the song's pace, the creator uniquely edited the entire video in black and white to emphasize emotion. The creator also ambiguously challenged romance-focused narrative conventions to match the song's theme of loss. Websites and packaging for the song were designed with brand identity in mind by following exemplars while also experimenting somewhat with color schemes.
This document summarizes a student's media portfolio project creating a music video for the Coldplay song "Fix You" that both uses conventions from the original video and other music videos, while also challenging some conventions. The student filmed in local rural areas rather than cities and focused more on portraying the lyrics than showing the singer's face. Color schemes and footage were manipulated to fit the mood of the song. Links were made between the video and lyrics and promotional materials to meet conventions of intertextuality.
Using and developing forms and conventions tlendorblack
Tyrisha Lendor-Black's music video was set at a carnival in Ladbroke Grove, London to represent the Soca genre and incorporate its conventions. Special effects like split screens were used both to develop conventions of showing enjoyment at carnival events and to challenge conventions by including flashing screens. Costumes included oiled JabJab men and colorful carnival costumes to convey themes of good and evil and carnival traditions. Camera work included close-ups of carnival preparations and a man breaking the fourth wall to involve the audience. The narrative was introduced through carnival footage with the artist's name and song title to develop genre conventions.
The document discusses the creation of a music video for the song "A Drop in the Ocean" to conform to conventions of the pop rock genre. It describes researching other artists in the genre and deciding to use natural lighting and common camera angles like close-ups and long shots. It aimed to portray feelings of loneliness and sadness after a breakup. Audience feedback on social media informed some decisions, like keeping the video simple with one character. Ancillary tasks like the CD cover and poster kept the same monochrome color scheme as the video for continuity. Various technologies were used in the research, planning, filming and post-production of the music video.

The document discusses how the media product challenges and develops conventions of real media. It analyzed music videos, posters, and albums to inform its own creations. For the music video, it considered conventions like camera shots, narrative/performance style, and cultural codes. It aimed to give an urban feel through locations. For the poster and digipak, it followed conventions like consistent branding, release date prominence, and social media inclusion. The goal was to produce professional-looking pieces that both conform to and advance real media conventions.
This document summarizes how the media product uses and develops conventions of real music videos. It discusses using a conceptual title ("Mad World") and setting (a park) to create narrative ambiguity, as seen in other music videos. Costuming the performer in skinny jeans and a leather jacket references the rock genre. Stop motion animation and dream-like transitions fragment the narrative, inspired by Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know." Encoding meanings allows for different interpretations, while post-production manipulations like animation, coloring, and fonts aim to establish conventions of the alternative rock genre seen in videos like McFly's "Transylvania" and Lana Del Rey's "Born to Die" album.
The document analyzes how the student's media products for an album by the artist Pink use, develop, and challenge conventions of real music videos, magazine advertisements, and album covers. The main music video and two ancillary products (advertisement and album cover) effectively work together through repetitive visual elements and themes that create a cohesive brand identity and allow audiences to connect the products.

The three media products, including the main music video and two ancillary products, use, develop, and challenge conventions of real music videos. Repetitive features like similar imagery and themes create synergy between the products and a strong brand identity, making the combination of products effective. Audience feedback helped improve the products and showed that people enjoyed the video and ancillary texts and found them similar to real media. New media technologies were used extensively in research, planning, construction, and evaluation stages.
LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

1. 1) In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?
Alex Ives
2. The Stone Roses- Waterfall
It was my task to create a promotional package for a song of my
choice and after thinking about what song I wanted to do for a
while I decided on Waterfall by The Stone Roses. I did this
because when briefly analysing the lyrics I was intrigued by
the messages and values within the song. Straight away, I
thought of my final shot, the burning of the Union Jack. This
was because it was the strongest way I could possibly get the
message across to my audience; if they did not understand
throughout the video they would certainly get it at the end. In
this question, I will analyse my media products on how
effective the use of challenging, developing and using
conventions are. Additionally, I will use comments from my
audience feedback and show how they sometimes had the
same ideas as me and at other times didn’t. Originally, I had
planned to create a performance based video. However, after
researching into the genre’s conventions, I found that
alternate rock/madchester music videos tend to use a mixture
of performance, abstract and narrative techniques; which
influenced my decision to do the same.
3. Lyric Analysis
When analysing the lyrics I found that the message behind
the song is that the beauty of Britain is slowly
disappearing through modernisation and that Britain is
‘baby America’ (far less superior). The lyric in the song
“she’ll carry on through it all, she’s a waterfall” is not
about a girl at all, but in fact a reference to people in
general; suggesting that even though Britain’s beauty is
fading, the public will just take it in their stride and not
do anything about it. Furthermore, one lyric in the song
implies this more than the rest, which is “see the steeple
pine, the hills as old as time. Soon to be put to the test, to
be whipped by the winds of the west.” This west is
referring to the USA and how Britain is ’under the
thumb’.
4. Cinematography
Cinematography techniques are a convention of music
videos in general, rather than genre specific conventions.
The main convention I have stuck to in my music video is
the use of a close up during lip sycning, as you can see
below my product compared to Meghon Trainor’s ‘Lips
Are Movin’. This convention was extremely important to
my video in particular because it shows the importance
of the song’s lyrics; which further helps the audience
understand the message the song is trying to portray.
Meghan Trainor- Lips are movin My music video
5. Mise En Scene
The mise en scene in my product was mostly conventional to my chosen genre; however there were a few
things that challenged conventions successfully and effectively.
The Stone Roses’ guitarist, John Squire, is an influential artist who has taken inspiration from the famous
abstract expressionist painter, Jackson Pollock. Pollock was famous for his paint dripping technique,
exactly the same as Squire, and therefore the band use the paintings on their album covers, instruments
and even clothing. Due to this, I decided I would like to include the iconographic imagery in my music
video, which I did. On the shot where the actor is dancing in front of the paint splattered wall, and when
the actor is biting down on lemons the Pollock's’ ‘One number 31’ painting in the background.
Furthermore, the lemons are also iconographic of the band, which is because Ian Brown, the lead singer,
met a French man who was a part of the 1968 student uprisings in Paris. The man told Ian that to
withstand the effects of tear gas being thrown at them; they had to bite down on lemons. This story
clearly influenced the band as they made lemons a visual motif for themselves; therefore I wanted to
include the story in my video. There is also a Stone Roses poster with a lemon on in the background of
one of my shots.
To add to the element of continuity, I reinforced images of the band and some of their posters throughout my
video. This was not a convention I found when researching, however I felt like it was a necessary
requirement for me to include in my music video.
The location of my video was important and conventional; this is because it shows not only what the band
stands for, but how Britain is fading through modernisation. For example, most of the video is filmed in
an urban environment, which represents what Britain is becoming, but some of it filmed in a rural
environment (field), which represents what Britain used to be. The urban location shows what the band
stands for as they were brought up in a working class family in an urban environment, and are anti
establishment. Furthermore, one of the locations in my video was a studio, which is where a band will
spend most of their time so I thought it would be a good idea to film elements of performance in a place
where it happens in reality to further add to the realism of my product.
Costume was another factor I had to control when creating my music video. Conventionally, I dressed my
actor and actress up how a band member of the genre would dress. For example polo shirts, leather
jacket, parker jacket, blue jeans. I believed it was important to follow this convention in order to add to
the element of realism in the video.
One way in which I challenged conventions is the way I included a cut take of my actor taking the camera off
me and filming me. Personally, I have never seen it done in a music video before and was unsure as to
whether to include it over doubts about it being effective. However, after adding it and getting opinions
from many fellow peers, they all told me that it was an effective way of challenging conventions.
7. Split Screen
I followed certain editing
elements from the
original music video,
which shows that my
product uses conventions
from real media products.
In particular, my music
video pursues the
conventions of
psychedelic music videos.
I decided on this as I
knew that it had
previously been
successful, therefore it
would be a success on my
product also.
8. Editing on beat and Lip syncing
I ensured that my video involved editing to the beat of the
song, this is important within music videos to add to the
level of continuity as it contributes to the video looking
in time. I did this successfully as it was something
pointed out on my audience feedback. As was lip
syncing, this is also a convention that I followed. When
in time lip syncing looks really good and was a
convention I needed to include in my video as I really
like performance elements in music videos. It was
suggested in my audience feedback that I didn’t include
enough lip sync in their opinion. This was constructive
criticism I decided to politely ignore; as I believe that if I
added anymore it would have overruled the messages in
the video, which I view as a more important aspect of my
product.
9. Colour/Black and White
My product challenges
conventions of real media
products in a number of
interesting ways. For example, I
have a balance between black
and white and colour, this is
unconventional as in real music
videos it is usually one or the
other. I feel this was an
important factor in getting the
songs message across to the
audience; this is because the
colour represents the beauty,
whereas the black and white is
modernisation taking over. It
was crucial that a balance was
achieved in order to show that it
isn’t too late for the beauty to be
restored.
11. Poster
On the advertisement poster for my ancillary
text I challenged, used and developed
conventions of real media products. In
order to use conventions, I made the image
on the poster partly colour and the rest
black and white; this is done in real media
products as you can see to the right.
Furthermore, I developed this convention
by making the effect add to the message my
product puts across. This was done as only
the artist and the post box are in colour;
representing Britain’s ideology, which are
centred. However, the black and white
surrounding the two is representing
modernisation; which is closing in and
trapping the ideology. Additionally, this
effect is also used as it gives a clear
indication to the audience as to what the
main importance within the product is.
I challenged conventions of the poster by
leaving out certain aspects which you would
usually see; such as a track list, barcode, QR
code and the label logo. I chose to challenge
this convention as I ultimately did not feel
that the aspects I left were important in
what my product is trying to achieve; which
is portraying the message of the song as
strongly as possible.
12. Inspiration (poster)
When creating my poster it was difficult
to find inspiration at first. However to
do so, I researched bands of the same
genre and used the layout which I
liked the most. Which in the case of
my poster was a product from the
Arctic Monkeys. I found the simplicity
of their product extremely effective
and was determined for it to have
same effect on my product; which I
personally feel that it did. On the
other hand, I could not put my entire
product in black and white, like what
they have done, purely because the
message of the song would not be
portrayed in the way in which I
wanted it to be.
13. Inspiration (digipak)
The inspiration for my digipak was from
two bands named Arctic Monkeys and
The Libertines. The Libertines
fragmented Union Jack was the perfect
opportunity for me to take influence from
and use it to portray the correct message
from the effectively. In order to do this, I
stripped the flag of it’s ideology (colours)
to force it into looking powerless.
The Arctic Monkey’s cigarette CD was
something I took influence from just
because it looked good. However, I
replaced the cigarettes (meaningless) and
replaced them with guitar plectrums.
This is because The Stone Roses, who
sang the song I created my product for,
were a very anti-establishment and
always made it noticeable that the music
was far more important than the money;
therefore I used the guitar plectrums as a
way to show this.
