which is a used often in many music videos by popular artists to glorify their
wealth and in connection with the song it could be used to represent the
artist “pouring out his heart” to the girl he is talking about in the song as this
is how it could be represented through the lyrics.
Money Money will be shown constantly throughout the video as it emphasises both
the success and the financial status of the artist which are always shown in
hip hop and RnB music videos.
Jewellery
(chains,

watches)
Most popular rap and RnB artists will use jewellery to “show of” their
expensive lifestyle as it portrays to their audience and fan base that they are
able to buy expensive items. Many artists use jewellery to glorify their culture
as “gang” logos are made into forms of jewellery such as pendants on chains.
Faux drugs
(codeine)
The pharmaceutical drug codeine in the form of promethazine cough syrup is
one of the most popular drugs to be consumed in the rap/Hip hop culture.
The drugs is mixed with a carbonated drink and then named; Lean or purp
due to its distinctive purple colour. A lot of artists use the drug and mention in
the lyrics in the songs although some rap artists are known to have died from
the drug. Drug use is popular in rap culture as it shows that they are willing to
go against the law to “impress” their fans.

to contain the fake alcohol what the cast and main protagonist in the
video will be drinking from. This prop is used often in videos in other rap
videos for the same purpose.
Clock This prop will be used to represent the idea of time going backwards as
time-lapse of a clock will be filmed and the footage edited in reverse
during post production. This will be when the artist says “I can even turn
back if I wanted to”
Vaporiser pen This is intend to be used be one of the members of the cast in the video,
it will be implemented to bridge the part of the song where the
instrumental changes.
Masks The artist “aftertheparty” is known to have kept his identity hidden from
his audience and fan base. He has not produced a music video to any of
his songs and his social profiles show no evidence of the artists
appearance, for this reason there will be members of the cast wearing
various masks to conceal there identity.

how expensive the car they posses is.
Phone In possession by the artist in the video to help the narrative be more
clear to the audience. Phones are used in rap/Hip hop videos to indicate
the idea of selling illegal items and using the phones to make this
possible for the artist.
Hats Rappers and followers of the hip hop/ rap culture often wear hats or
beanies this is due to it being a popular accessory as worn a lot by the
artists themselves . Often the artist are in connection with hat brands
and they will promote the garments in the music videos.
Colourful
Smoke Bomb
This prop is used extensively in different types of rap/ hip hop videos, it
is a common convention of British grime videos although it has been
used in alternative American rap videos. It provides a physical effect to
the video which makes it a popular prop.
