• encouraging high standards of physical therapy research,
education and practice
• supporting the exchange of information between WCPT regions
and member organisations
• collaborating with national and international organisations

WCPT objectives
WCPT aims to:
1. encourage high standards of physical therapy education, practice and research
2. encourage the development and promote the strength of national organisations of
physical therapists
3. encourage communication and exchange of information across the physical therapy
profession
4. organise international congresses of physical therapists
5. represent physical therapy internationally
6. promote the health, wellness and fitness of global populations
7. co-operate with appropriate national or international organisations
8. comment on social and political issues affecting health
9. engage in all necessary activities to further the work of WCPT in the best interests of
physical therapists

The Executive Committee of the World Confederation for Physical
Therapy (WCPT) is elected by the WCPT member organisations
and

• a member from each region.

WCPT groups
• WCPT has formal and informal associations with many groups aiming to
improve the profile and practice of physical therapists worldwide.
• WCPT subgroups have a specific area of interest and are important
international physical therapy organisations in their own right.
• WCPT also supports informal groupings which do not yet have official
subgroup status, to exchange information and expertise in specific fields.

the right time is allocated to the right activity.
• Effective time management allows individuals to assign specific
time slots to activities as per their importance.

• It was established on 7 April 1948, with headquarters
in Geneva, Switzerland and
• is a member of the United Nations Economic and Social
Council (ECOSOC)
• WHO has 194 member states.

• WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health
within the United Nations system.
• It is responsible for providing leadership on
1. global health matters,
2. shaping the health research agenda,
3. setting norms and standards,
4. articulating evidence-based policy options,

Aim and Objectives of IAP
a) To establish and maintain Registers of different categories of members of IAP.
b) To set and ensure ethical professional practices
c) To promote high professional standards of independent practice of
physiotherapy by the members of IAP.
d) To convene conferences, seminars, workshops, camps to organize study circles,
meetings, and lectures and to publish literature, journals, periodicals, newsletters
etc.
e) To organize and provide for continuing physiotherapy education programs for its
members.
f) To supplement and complement post graduate courses for the advancement of
higher physiotherapy education
g) To promote scientific research and technology in physiotherapy and related
areas to enhance the status of the profession of physiotherapy.
h) To watch and advise Government Organizations and NGOs on policy matters

Aim and Objectives of IAP
i) To solicit, obtain or accept subscriptions, donations, grants, gifts, bequests of
money etc. which IAP may think fit.
j) To confer honour and award scholarships to physiotherapists in the interests of
the profession and also grant or provide travel grants, fellowships or any other
monetary assistance to professionals/practicing physiotherapists as may be in
the interests of the development of the profession.
k) To procure the advisory services of eminent persons either by remuneration in
cash or kind or in honorary capacity.
l) To issue certificate of registration to Life Members and membership identification
cards to Ordinary Members or to those who apply for registration as members.
m)To procure land/ property for establishing office/academic purpose in different
parts of country.
n) And to generally execute all such acts, deeds, matters and things as may be
conducive to or for achieving all or any of the objectives of IAP.

Membership of the IAP
• Ordinary Member: An individual who is qualified to become an Ordinary
Member of IAP on annual payment shall be registered as an Ordinary
Member of the IAP.
• Life Member: An individual who is qualified to become an Ordinary
Member on payment of Life membership fee to IAP shall be registered as
a Life Member of the IAP.
• Patron Member: who pays to the IAP a Patron membership Fee of Rs.
50,000/- or more (non refundable) may be considered as a patron of IAP
on confirmation by the CEC.

Rights of Members
Individuals registered as Life Member or Active Ordinary Member shall be entitled
to:
• Attend, receive notices, speak and vote at a general body meeting of the
members of the IAP on any matter which may be submitted for consideration.
• Contest elections of IAP for the position of an office bearer.
• Serve as member of sub-committees appointed by CEC or the general body of
IAP.
• Receive all official communications of IAP at his/her address within India.
• To use the abbreviation MIAP after their name.
• Receive the copy of the Memorandum of Association at the time of becoming a
member, free of cost and on payment thereafter.

• The Central Executive Council shall consist of 9 elected members and 2 ex-
officio members.
• The Central Executive may co-opt up to 2 members from areas not represented
on executive council. The co-opted members shall have full rights as other
members of Central Executive Council.

Sreeraj S R Aim and Objectives of IAP i) To solicit, obtain or accept subscriptions, donations, grants, gifts, bequests of money etc. which IAP may think fit. j) To confer honour and award scholarships to physiotherapists in the interests of the profession and also grant or provide travel grants, fellowships or any other monetary assistance to professionals/practicing physiotherapists as may be in the interests of the development of the profession. k) To procure the advisory services of eminent persons either by remuneration in cash or kind or in honorary capacity. l) To issue certificate of registration to Life Members and membership identification cards to Ordinary Members or to those who apply for registration as members. m)To procure land/ property for establishing office/academic purpose in different parts of country. n) And to generally execute all such acts, deeds, matters and things as may be conducive to or for achieving all or any of the objectives of IAP.

Sreeraj S R Membership of the IAP • Ordinary Member: An individual who is qualified to become an Ordinary Member of IAP on annual payment shall be registered as an Ordinary Member of the IAP. • Life Member: An individual who is qualified to become an Ordinary Member on payment of Life membership fee to IAP shall be registered as a Life Member of the IAP. • Patron Member: who pays to the IAP a Patron membership Fee of Rs. 50,000/- or more (non refundable) may be considered as a patron of IAP on confirmation by the CEC.

Sreeraj S R Rights of Members Individuals registered as Life Member or Active Ordinary Member shall be entitled to: • Attend, receive notices, speak and vote at a general body meeting of the members of the IAP on any matter which may be submitted for consideration. • Contest elections of IAP for the position of an office bearer. • Serve as member of sub-committees appointed by CEC or the general body of IAP. • Receive all official communications of IAP at his/her address within India. • To use the abbreviation MIAP after their name. • Receive the copy of the Memorandum of Association at the time of becoming a member, free of cost and on payment thereafter.

Sreeraj S R Central Executive Council • The President • Vice President(s) • General Secretary • Treasurer • five members elected by the General Body. • The Central Executive Council shall consist of 9 elected members and 2 ex- officio members. • The Central Executive may co-opt up to 2 members from areas not represented on executive council. The co-opted members shall have full rights as other members of Central Executive Council.
