The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
2. Process- Great sword
• I started off drawing out a simple
shape for the weapon I wanted for my
weapon in this case it was a great
sword.
3. Process- Great sword
• Then on the second layer I added
detail on the blade using darker
colours for the shading of where the
light would be. There is no silver so I
used different shades of grey.
4. Process- Great sword
• After I added detail on to the
handle look like it had a
leather grip and I added some
design to the pommel to make
it look like it had a gem on the
weapon
5. • Finally I added a cross guard
with the same detail as the
blade
7. Process- halberd
• Next I started to
add detail to the
weapons blade
and spear part to
make it look like
metal. They
didn’t have silver
so I used grey
9. Process-Ghost animation
I started of creating my Ghost by
drawing a 32 bit one from scratch
but it took me a while to get the
right shape so it looked even. I
added a smile because I thought it
looked cute. The eyes I used 2
different colours to make it more
detailed than just a plain colour.
I made sure the image was a png
because this ghost was going t be
moving around in the animation.
10. Process-Ghost animation
• After I completed the Ghost I got
started on the background for the
animation. Where I used the line
and shape tool to create the basic
outline for the floorboards and the
fire place. The fire place was the
most difficult to draw up because I
had to make each bit even so it
didn’t look crooked.
11. Process-Ghost animation
• The I added colour to the image but
I added different shades of the same
colours to make both the floor
boards and the fire place seem
more realistic but I left the wall a
solid dark blue to show a contrast to
all the brighter colours.
12. Process-Ghost animation
• I made the picture fame and the window
by using the shape tool to make 6
rectangles 3 black and 3 white and layer
them in top of each other. The white
ones I made smaller than the black ones
so I new how big of area I had for the
frame and the windows. I then added
detail in each rectangle I used a realy dar
grey to show it was night but I didn’t use
full on black because the moon gives off
some light. I used different shades of light
grey to make the moon seem more
realistic and that you can see it over the
dark grey.
13. Process-Ghost animation
• When I was done with the background I imported the
png of my ghost and animated it moving around an I
even made it go invisible and pop up in another part if
the background. I accomplished this by on each frame
making the ghost more and more transparent the point
it was invisible. Then when I move it to another ppart
of the image I mage so it was more and more visible by
reversing the previous process
14. Reflection
What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• When I make the animation of my game I will include the level of detail I
have used and the techniques I used to animate the ghost including
making it go transparent
• I do think when I di the picture frame id didn’t use as much detail as I
would have wanted this was either due to time constrains or I was
rushing that part of the background to get it done as quickly a possible.
