2. Process
• Firstly I made the blue sky background using the pencil
tool and filled it in with blue to make the back ground. I
then made one layer of brick wall and then duplicated
the layer to make the whole wall. I then merged every
layer of the wall into one layer so I could move the
whole thing about. So with the background complete I
started to focus on the half pipe. I used the pencil tool to
make the outline of half of the half pipe, I duplicated the
layer and simply free transformed it to flip it round son it
was a mirror of the other half. I also merged these two
layers to make it the same layer and then added the
coping (metal part on the top of the ramp).
• To make all of the assets I used the pencil tool. On the
man sitting on the wall I just used different colours to
him up. With the clouds I increased the size of the pencil
tool and put a few dots to make them look like clouds. I
used different sizes on every cloud. To make the sun I
increased the size of the pencil tool, changed the colour
to yellow and to make the glow I increased the size
again, lowered the opacity to make it look like a glow. To
make the skateboard I simply drew it with the pencil
tool.
• To make the clouds and skate board move I started a
time line and moved them on each picture to make it
look like they were moving. Whenever a cloud went off
screen I waited a bit and then added it back in at the
other side.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your final
product?
– I will include the fact that I had the environment moving in the
background rather than just the playable character moving. This is
good because it makes the game feel a lot more realistic. Also it would
look a lot better in the back ground. I am going to include the skating
aspect of the game as well, so there will be a half pipe in the game still
and skateboards because these are fundamental for a half pipe skater
game.
– I will try and include some sort of detailed back ground like a beach or
a skate park. This could be used as a level up/ in app purchase as well.
So the better you do the more locations you get.
– There is nothing I am not going to include in my work but for the
things I am going to include it will be a lot more detailed than it is and
it would work better for the game.
4. Process
The animation process on this was really
tedious because it all kept going wrong and I
had to stop and fix it. First of all I tried to
move the character head from looking to the
left to the right. I did this by making multiple
layers of the character’s face. Firstly I added a
layer and made another face angle. I did this a
few times for a few angles. So it looked like
his head was turning around. As his head was
turning around I moved the skateboard at the
same time using the time line and just keep
moving it. I moved his head by an seeing
some layers and only seeing one layer. Using
the timeline it made it look like his head
moved. I also made the character walk to the
skateboard. The character was one layer so I
had to cut the legs out so I could animate
them. I used the same concept of the head he
move the legs as he walked to the skateboard
and jumped on it.

• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– I will include the fact that the limbs move, when
the character does. It will do this because it makes
it look a lot more realistic. I will also include the
fact that the characters head moves.
6. Process
• Firstly I added the video into premier pro.
I saw that it was quite short so I decided
to make it a bit longer; I did this by using
the speed/duration tool when you right
click on the video. I made it slower. I did
this in premier and not Photoshop
because I thought that it will be easier
and less time consuming. I then added a
back ground environment track and cut it
down to the length of the video. I made
sure it all worked well as well. After this I
went onto beepbox and made two SFX.
The first SFX was a jumping sound that I
cut down and used for when the
character jumps. The second SFX was a
banging sound I made and cut it down to
fit in when the skater lands on his
skateboard.

• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– I am going to be adding a backing track of the
environment around the game for example if the
skier is going faster the wind will pick up a bit and
get louder.
– I am also going to be using SFX when the character
does something different like jump or land or
collect a coin.
