Process
• I used photoshop to began by
creating a ghost game design
this helped me by beginning
with just practicing how to move
the ghost along the screen using
a timeline. I decided to only
create a basic background
involving mud and grass to
achieve this I used the pencil
tool and the gradient to pick out
my colours these were
saturated, then after I added
layers each time I began with
the ghost for this I used google
for ideas of ghost and created
my own with the same number
of pixels, after this my first
experiment layout was
complete.

After this I continued to add a
shadow at the bottom of my
ghost I added this to give a better
effect to my ghost this was used
with the pencil tool and a grey
colour I did this I put together my
time line and the ghost moved
across the end of the image
moving up and down. Overall my
outcome experiment was quite
basic and not my favourite if I
was to do this again I would
definitely add more detail to the
background and make it seem
like a more exciting and scary
game. Within this process the
thing I found most difficult was
putting the time line together
and each step, I also found the
animation creating f the pixel
props also quite difficult,
therefore I can improve and work
on this next time.
This is my process of
creating the layout I
needed, width 120
and height,80 and all
in pixels for the
perfect outcome.

This is my second experiment
outcome for this one I decided to
add a lot more detail into my
background, by using more bright
colour schemes and adding things
like mini trees and jumping bocks
this makes the game look and seem
a lot more intresting,having to jump
over blocks. I also made sure I
added a layer each time creating a
new animation once this is done I
moved onto creating the ghost
however in my other experiment
my ghost was done quickly and I
didn't add much detail whereas for
this one I feel like added shadows
to the ghost including a heart to
match the colour schemes,
therefore this turned out to look
more like a ghost.

Lastly, I added my timeline and
moved the ghost up and down
through the red blocks and to the
end of the image which was the
point of my game. The tool which I
used mostly was the pencil tool and
the colour palette to create the
whole of my game.
Overall, I like my turn out a lot and
definitely prefer this outcome over
my first experiment because this looks
more like a game and an audience
would rather play this than my first
one. The thing I struggle with mostly
was my ghost using pixels but I feel I
have improved over my experiments
which have been very helpful to build
up this outcome which looks more
professional.
Although, if I was to do this again I would add in more
than one character to travel across my layout and
make it so one is chasing the other this would give it
more of a meaning and better storyline for people to
understand, I would also change the top background
instead of it being plain black I would add something
like clouds to make it stand out more.
Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include in your final
product?
In my final product I will include the same processes of creating my
game I will also focus a lot on my background like I did in my second
experiment. However I will also focus on the elements which I
struggle on quite a lot which is my characters or creating
animations and pixels because the outcome I try to achieve never
really comes out the way I like, so I want to include all the detail I
add. The colour schemes are a main element which I will be
including this is because the colour schemes set the mood and tone
and I think it really grabs the audience and makes the game really
stand out and look more appealing because my final product will be
puzzle themed.

  • 3. process After this I continued to add a shadow at the bottom of my ghost I added this to give a better effect to my ghost this was used with the pencil tool and a grey colour I did this I put together my time line and the ghost moved across the end of the image moving up and down. Overall my outcome experiment was quite basic and not my favourite if I was to do this again I would definitely add more detail to the background and make it seem like a more exciting and scary game. Within this process the thing I found most difficult was putting the time line together and each step, I also found the animation creating f the pixel props also quite difficult, therefore I can improve and work on this next time. This is my process of creating the layout I needed, width 120 and height,80 and all in pixels for the perfect outcome.
  • 4. process This is my second experiment outcome for this one I decided to add a lot more detail into my background, by using more bright colour schemes and adding things like mini trees and jumping bocks this makes the game look and seem a lot more intresting,having to jump over blocks. I also made sure I added a layer each time creating a new animation once this is done I moved onto creating the ghost however in my other experiment my ghost was done quickly and I didn't add much detail whereas for this one I feel like added shadows to the ghost including a heart to match the colour schemes, therefore this turned out to look more like a ghost.
  • 5. process Lastly, I added my timeline and moved the ghost up and down through the red blocks and to the end of the image which was the point of my game. The tool which I used mostly was the pencil tool and the colour palette to create the whole of my game. Overall, I like my turn out a lot and definitely prefer this outcome over my first experiment because this looks more like a game and an audience would rather play this than my first one. The thing I struggle with mostly was my ghost using pixels but I feel I have improved over my experiments which have been very helpful to build up this outcome which looks more professional. Although, if I was to do this again I would add in more than one character to travel across my layout and make it so one is chasing the other this would give it more of a meaning and better storyline for people to understand, I would also change the top background instead of it being plain black I would add something like clouds to make it stand out more.
  • 6. Reflection • What elements of your experiments will you include in your final product? In my final product I will include the same processes of creating my game I will also focus a lot on my background like I did in my second experiment. However I will also focus on the elements which I struggle on quite a lot which is my characters or creating animations and pixels because the outcome I try to achieve never really comes out the way I like, so I want to include all the detail I add. The colour schemes are a main element which I will be including this is because the colour schemes set the mood and tone and I think it really grabs the audience and makes the game really stand out and look more appealing because my final product will be puzzle themed. • Refer to the brief: Ghost Game
