2. Process
I started by creating my
canvas I set it to an a4 size as
that is usually the size of most
graphic novels so it’s a way it
can be more professional
3. Process
Brush
Opacity
Layers
Brush hardness
Paint bucket
To create the characters features I used the
brush tool changing the size, hardness and
opacity for the eyes I started off looking at an
image of an eye on google so I could use it as
a guide I began by drawing the base shape
then changing the opacity and the colour to
start to blend it into the skin then doing that
another time to do the shadows around the
eyes to make the iris and the pupil I used the
elliptical marquee tool to make the circles
and then filling them in with the paint
bucket.
4. Process
I coloured my character in blocks going around the
silhouette I used the lasso tool to make sections then
filling them in with the paint bucket which gave the
base design. Then I layered over it making the details
on it using the brush tool changing opacity and size in
various ways.
5. Process
After creating my character I used the gradient tool
to make a background then used the brightness and
contrast filter to make it darker I also started testing
backgrounds by getting one online and using it as a
placeholder until I made one. I used the character I
created as the main image so I put him in a spot
where he's centred in the image using the
background I also used the layer style tool to add a
small grey outline to him to make him stand out
more against the darker background.
6. Process
For my background I used google to find a real
forest then I used the reduce noise filter over and
over until I was happy with how it looked and
then I added a slight purple tint using the hue /
saturation tool.
7. Process
Next I added 2 small boxes at the top at the
bottom using the rectangular marquee tool to
select an area and then filling it in with the fill tool
then I used the layer style tool to add a texture to
it and a grey outline to it. Then for the title I used
1001fonts.com to get the font I was going to use
then getting it into Photoshop to remove the
backgrounds and turn it the same blue as the
background then using the layer style tool to add
a white border around it so it can really pop out.
And I also added the publishers logo in the corner
that I got from google and resized it so It would
fit.
8. Process
Finally for the cover I added the volume number
and title with the writers names to create them I
used the text tool and then positioned them. I used
they layer style tool for the writing by adding a
white background to the blue text and a small black
outline to the white text to make it show a bit
better.
9. Process
I started on my comic page by going onto google
to find a good template for it I ended up finding
one I was happy with so I edited it by making a
border and filling in-between the tiles using the
fill bucket tool and also cutting out the tiles using
the magic wand tool.
10. Process
For my first tile I used my background and my
character from my cover I used layers to hide
the rest of his body but some parts were too
long so I used the eraser tool to remove them,
I did the same with the background I had to
use a bigger eraser to do that though.
11. Process
for the next few tiles I used the same background
but different parts so they would look different.
For the first tile on the second row I used my
character from before and used the free transform
tool to make him fit into place so you could only
see his arms and more importantly the gun. For
the second tile on that row I made a silhouette of
a person that I free transformed to make smaller
but I wanted to make it look more mysterious so I
used the brush tool and brought the opacity right
down and changing the brush style so I could make
some fog to hide it more which I think worked out
well. For the final tile on the second row I used the
same image as the first on the row but rotated it
using free transform to make it look like he is
aiming.
12. Process
For the next row of tiles I tried to match up the background to
where it was before such as in the first tile on the third row
lining up with the tree like the previous style just so it had
some congruity. To make the gun in the first tile I use the
same picture from the previous tile but I selected the stop of
the gun with the lasso too and moved it back and then drew a
barrel at the front to give it the look that the gun is firing. I
made the bullet by cutting an image of a bullet in half using
the lasso tool and then shrinking it to make it fit in I put the
shell near the gun to make it look like its flying out and the
bullet part is firing out I gave it the appearance of movement
by adding a trail to it using the brush tool starting with the
opacity low then building it up going over the same line and
the “blam” is for the sound effect of the gun going off. For the
second tile on this row it’s the same scene as the second tile
on the second row but now he's been shot so the silhouette
is on the ground now.
13. Process
For the final row I used the same background trying
to keep congruity with the previous tiles the first and
second tile are a copy of each other using the same
technique as before using tree transform and eraser
to make it fit but on the second the eyes are closes
which I used the brush tool to make I kept changing
the opacity to blend it together. And in the final tile
it’s a zoom in of the second tile on row three with a
speech bubble saying “I'm sorry” i used the elliptical
marquee tool to make the bubble then the layer style
tool to make the black border around it.
