2. Process
• First I opened up Photoshop and opened a new
page that was 120px by 80px in size. Then I picked
the colour purple – because I thought it would suit
the gothic ghost theme – and enlarged my brush
tool so colouring in the entire page in purple like I
intended wouldn’t consume my time. After the
whole page was purple, I used different layers and
different shades of the same purple to make the
wall look old and rustic. When I was finished with
the wall, I merged the layers and moved onto my
next step.
• I drew inspiration from Casper the friendly ghost when drawing my ghost.
Unfortunately, the first time I drew my ghost I did it using the paint brush and
not the pencil, so it was blurry and didn’t follow the rules of pixel art. After
finding out this wasn’t going to work the way I had hoped and realising I
would have to use the pencil tool, I went over the ghost in the same colour
and it fortunately turned out really well.

3. process
• Next I set out to make the photo frames that are hanging on the
wall in this picture. I used the pencil tool and selected a golden
colour to make the frames look almost regal. After making the
frames, I filled it in with a solid colours and then made a new layer
so I could draw the faces.
• The next step was to make the portrait of the ghost when he was
still alive. To do this, I made a new layer and moved the ghost into
the picture frame. I then, on the new layer, traced around the
ghost with pigmented skin and blue eyes to make the portrait look
like a real person. I then move the ghost from beneath it.
• I then created a timeline and started to meticulously move my
ghost closer and closer to the oversized picture frame with each
frame that I added. Then, after checking to make sure that the
ghost layer was in front of bop painting but behind the actual
picture frame, I animated my ghost to move between the two so
he was inside the picture frame.

• What elements of your experiments will you include
in your final product?
• Refer to the brief: Ghost Game
– Because the brief told me to make a ghost game with a similar theme to my own product I decided
to make my experiment gloomy and almost sad, telling the story a young boy who is now a ghost.
– From this experiment I have learned how to successfully and relatively quickly make timelines and
moving animation. This has helped me develop skills that I will need when making the my video
game.
– Making this experiment has helped me develop my skill for drawing character, as I now how to make
things look soft and round when using pixel art.
