Escapism In A Clean Well Lighted Place
Despair and Loneliness in A Clean, Well Lighted Place In the short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place
by Ernest Hemingway, two waiters in a café observe an old deaf man, and discuss how he attempted
to commit suicide and failed. As the night goes on and the old man gets drunk, the two waiters debate
on the topic of life and despair. The young waiter has both a wife and a job, so he is always eager to
get home before three in the morning because he is doing a lot with his life. He even admits that he
thinks that the old man should have killed himself so that the young waiter wouldn t always have to
leave the café so late. The old waiter on the other hand, only has a job so he sympathizes with the old
man because the café is the only thing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He thinks that religion does not help feeling depressed or lonely and both of these things you must
face alone. All he needs is the café and to be able to provide this safe haven for other people who feel
like him. When he is finished closing up the café, he returns home and thinks about how he doesn t
like bars and bodegas and prefers the clean well lighted café because it was a very different thing (7).
He knows he will go into his room and be up all night thinking until the sun would come up. Then, he
would sleep. Hemingway writes, After all, he said to himself, it s probably only insomnia. Many must
have it (7). The ending of this story shows that the old waiter is in fact full of despair and loneliness.
He tries to convince himself that it s only insomnia and tries to feel less alone by saying that many
must have it. Even though he acknowledges that he and the old man are extremely similar, it appears
that the old waiter is not yet ready to admit that at the end of his life, he is feeling horrible and he does
not know how to bring himself out of it. All he knows is the café since that s where he seems

Comparing Mahatma Gandhi And Osama Bin Laden
Many can have or make an impact on the world. The two people that i think have made
an impact on the world are Mahatma Gandhi, and Osama Bin Laden.
Mahatma Gandhi, was a leader of india s independence movement and also the
architect of a form of non violent civil disobedience that has influenced the world Gandhi

trip to Pretoria Gandhi was thrown off the train ride because a white man objected his

Many people believe that Osama had no impact on the world but he did. September 11,
2001 Osama Bin Laden attacked pentagon and the World Trade Center leaving
thousands hurt, killed, and devastated. Bin Laden eluded capture. For almost ten years
he remained in hiding issuing fatwas and taunts over radio and television, recruiting
young indians to his cause and plotting new attacus. Bin Laden and his associates
embraced violent jihad in earnest. For example, they trained and armed the Somali
rebels who killed 18 american servicemen in Mogadishu in 1993. They were also
involved in the bombing of the New York world trade center .Osama Bin Laden Known

Native Title Case Study
Law reform in relation to Native Title has developed and become testament to the growing justice for
the ATSI community, however effective mean and complete justice is yet to be achieved. From the
changing values and attitudes of society, alongside conditions of social change and new concepts of
justice ATSI justice is being implemented, with law reform. With seminal cases alike Mabo and Wik,
legislation has been delegated and changed accordingly; with the recognition of Native title finally
succeeding in overturning the terra nullius doctrine, which for centuries has damaged and hurt the
ATSI peoples. Despite this, with the Wik decision and largely the 10 point plan, it sought to pour
bucket loads of extinguishment upon Native Title ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the change from Keatings progressive labour government to John Howard s conservative
Coalition government, came resounding regression to the Native Title act, with the 10 point plan, and
the coinciding Wik decision nine months after. The Wik VS Queensland case (1996) established that
in cases of conflict between pastoral leases and native title, pastoral leases override and can
successfully extinguish native title , which was adopted with the change of legislation and introduction
of the Native Title amendment Act (1998). If there is no conflict, they can coexist. Many cases of
Native Title extinguishment has occurred, and only approximately 600 areas hold Native Title in all of
Australia, with less than 1% in NSW. As a procession from the Native Title declaration, this
legislature has digressed justice to the ATSI community , and as further iterated by Sydney Morning
Herald has undone the good of the Mabo decision . ATSI discrimination following the legislation of
the Native title Act (1996) significantly rose in the public discourse with renowneded personalities
claiming they could take their backyards , and an unspoken deeply rooted fear for many, dating back
to Australia s colonization; that Australia could be declared completely under Native Title, and the
sovereignty of the Crown could be questioned . For ATSI peoples , the introduction of the 10 point
plan, and the Native Title Ammendment Act (1998) marks a significant national regression upon
achieving justice for their community as they sought to pour bucket loads of extinguishment on the
native title rights of Indigenous Australians. Law reform, in this case has been dominantly ineffective
in achieving justice for the ATSI peoples, and rather revoking

The Decline Of Organized Religion In Western Civilization
Altemeyer, Bob. The Decline of Organized Religion in Western Civilization. International Journal for
the Psychology of Religion, vol. 14, no. 2, Apr. 2004, pp. 77 89. EBSCOhost, search.ebscohost.com
The practice of organized religion has been declining greatly since the mid 20th century, but the pace
in which religion is dying is not constant in every western country. Ireland is the only country where
most people attend a religious event weekly, on the other hand, less than ten percent of Scandinavians
attend religious events. Organized religion is dying where it once was common in everyday life, which
is bad news for church leaders who want to fill their seats. From 1945 to 1985 the percent of regular
church attendees in Canada dropped in half, from 70% to 35%. Although people have stopped
associating themselves with a religion, many of them still believe in a creator. Around 32 percent of
America s population attends church weekly, but 66 percent of Americans have no doubt that there is a
God, and another 16 percent believe in a God but have doubts (Altemeyer 79). There is evidence that
the recent rise of religious apostasy occurred because of backlash against the Religious Right , the
christian fundamentalists that are known to be anti homosexual. Many people are turned off by these
beliefs and severed their already weak relationships with the church. Children are also not being
taught religious beliefs because of parents who have left the faith. Parents have stopped

Diverse Characters In Cassandra Clare s The Shadowhunter...
Cassandra Clare s works, The Shadowhunter Chronicles, are full of diverse characters, and for various
reasons. One reason being that she believes it is important for novels to have all different kinds of
characters to reflect the world around us; because the world is diverse, the book she writes must also
be diverse. She strives to create relatable characters so that readers of any sexual orientation, race, or
gender are able to identify with her works. For example, Clare s choice of writing her main character
as a young female was made because she would have wanted to read that as a teenager. Every
character is created in order to give people, especially those who are not as represented in the media,
someone to look up to or relate to. Cassandra Clare creates an important series for teenagers to read as
they begin to discover who they are; the inclusion of racially diverse, LGBTQ+, and mentally disabled
characters in Clare s The Mortal Instruments and The Dark Artifices gives young readers a variety of
different characters so that any reader can see themselves in the novels.
First and foremost, I would like to emphasize how important it is to have representation in young adult
novels. A large part of the reason that teenagers read books is to read about someone that they can
relate to. Being able to read about a character who has a lot in common with the reader helps the
reader to not only feel connected to the book and its characters, but also to feel as if someone is

Why I Support For The Secdef
The unwritten rule when partaking in discussions professionally is to avoid matters that cover religion
and politics. Many people care very deeply about religion and/or politics, and many factors have
contributed to these passionate opinions. The bottom line is when talking about these topics, focus and
effort are diverted from what is most important in a professional environment. In the military, the
same dynamic can and has been observed in units across the country. The military is a melting pot of
culture, religion, and political opinions with individuals who care deeply about them. Presidential
campaigns summate most of these topics in one discussion. Most conversations start with, Who do
you support and why? . The why, is where most heated debates begin. Today, more pressure than ever
has been placed on service members to comment on presidential campaigns. In addition, more
avenues to comment are now available. In my paper, I will explain why support for the SECDEF is
crucial to help service members remain focused and the united states military to function more
effectively without political influence. Social media is something almost every American citizen
participates in, in today s society. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn,
Snapchat, and countless other examples of social media exist and in each someone can communicate
with the world if he or she pleases. For example, Facebook currently has 1.71 billion users according

A Decade Of Fear Summary
Sam Robert in the article A decade of fear argues that Mccarthyism turned Americans against each
other. Robert supports his claim by illustrating fear, describing betrayal, and comparing it to other US
internal conflicts. The author s purpose is to point out a vulnerable point in American history in order
to demonstrate how Americans fell prey to Mccarthy s propaganda. The author writes in a direct and
cynical tone for an educated audience. I Strongly agree with Rogers. Mccarthyism caused Americans
to turn on each other because it sparked and strengthened the fear of there being communist spies in
the government. As well as inciting Americans to hunt and expose communists or anyone they thought
to be communist and plunging Americans into a mass hysteria.
Clearly Mccarthyism planted the fear of there being communist spies in the government. For example
Mccarthy stated I have here in hand a list of of 205, a list of names that were made known to the
Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party and who nevertheless are still working
and shaping policy in the state department. This alone had people beginning to become anxious.
Additionally, as Roberts states in 1953 Mccarthy became chairman of the Senate Permanent
Subcommittee on investigations and used the platform to make ... Show more content on

Much like in the Crucible when the people of salem obtained a sort of bloodlust after the witch hunts
began, Americans began hunting out alleged communists when Mccarthy began to accuse people.
Furthermore some Americans saw that the American way , democracy, was the only way to go and
when communists came into the picture they weren t ready to give up their ideals. Additionally,
political figures used the fear and dislike of communist to give themselves a push. Joseph Mccarthy
himself used the hate to rise to fame and climb the ranks in politics continuing to accuse people of
being communist and riling American

Starbucks vs. Ethiopia (Csr Issue)
Issue Two: Starbucks vs. Ethiopia
In March 2005, Ethiopia filed applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to
trademark its coffee names, Harar, Sidamo, and Yirgacheffe, which are three coffee regions in the
country. The Ethiopian government had hoped that by forcing coffee buyers into licensing agreements
would lead to coffee farmers gaining more control over its coffee trade and earn a bigger slice of the
pie by receiving a higher percentage of earnings from the retail price of coffee. It is estimated that
Ethiopian farmers could earn up to USD 88 million extra per year.
Oxfam America had accused Starbucks of prompting the National Coffee Association of USA (NCA)
to oppose the trademark application which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Utilitarianism is an ethical doctrine which states that people should produce the most happiness or
pleasure for everyone who is affected by those actions. The utilitarian view of justice proposes an
economic system which will benefit the society than any other system. Besides, the proponents of this
view also hold the opinion that steps should be taken to reduce great income disparities that further
polarize our society. Hence it is suggested that an egalitarian allocation of income would increase the
income of people who earn less which would eventually boost total happiness (Shaw, 2005) The
underlying fact that coffee farmers only get 10% of the profit of each cup of coffee sold and millions
of Ethiopians who rely on coffee trade as a source of income and living under extreme poverty
suggests that Starbucks did not practice what they preach and should have taken a more holistic
approach in helping coffee farmers in Ethiopia earning a fairer share of income from the coffee trade.
Proponents of the broader view of corporate social responsibility stress that organizations are
integrated with the rest of the society and have a moral obligation to their stakeholders which include
employees, suppliers, customers, the community, and the society at large (Shaw, 2005). Besides,
proponents of human rights

Anne Frank Reflection
The Holocaust was a horrific event in human history that took place in the early 1930s through the
mid 1940s. This was when millions of Jews and other people who were thought to be a race and were
sent to concentration camps by those who refer to as evil people. Although many people thought this,
one girl, Anne Frank, who was a Jewish girl in hiding, said this: In spite of everything, I still believe
people are really good at heart. Regarding all of the hate and struggles Anne and her family faced, she
still saw good in everyone and everything that happened. After reading the play based on Anne s real
diary she kept while in hiding, I have to agree with her famous quote. One of the main reasons I agree
with Anne is because of the empathy Mr. Frank showed for her daughter when times were scary. Now,
I do understand that all arguments have two sides and that there are some who don t agree with me,
according to Mr. Van Daan s selfishness and greed.
Now, I m sure some of you are saying that there are more acts of kindness throughout the play, and I
agree with you, but what convinced me to side with Anne and her thought is when her father, Mr.
Frank, attended to her needs after a nightmare she had. On page 64, the following dialogue takes
place:
Mr. Frank: I want you to take this pill.
Anne: What is it?
Mr. Frank: Something to quiet you. ... Do you want me to read to you for a while?
During this scene, the Van Daan s, the Frank s and Mr. Dussel had gone to bed for the night. Everyone
was sleeping peacefully until Anne started screaming from a terrible nightmare. She accidentally woke
everyone else up with her screaming, and her father decided to take care of Anne and let everyone else
go back to sleep. Unlike Mr. Van Daan, Mr. Frank, or Anne s father, showed that he has empathy for
his daughter and would do anything to make sure that she was okay. And by asking if she wanted him
to read to her really showed that he really cared about her. His act not only shows empathy for Anne,
but that he s there for her when she needs him and that he doesn t just care about himself, but about
others. And by doing so, Mr. Frank stayed with her until she fell asleep. He was doing what any father
should do.
Now, just because I

Descriptive Experience Of Roller Coasters
#Roller coasters are mainly recognized for the thrill. When I was younger I was always fascinated by
the bright colors that they represented. A variety of rides caught my attention but I was always afraid
to get on the highest roller coasters. From what I remember as a child my family and I visited multiple
amusement parks such as Six Flags, Knott s Berry Farm and Disneyland. All those ravishing places
impacted my curiosity about roller coasters stability. Since I was only an adolescent my curiosity
arbitrary sparked on its own it was only until then when I began to think differently. Although I was
too afraid to ride the highest roller coasters I was primarily curious about the height, velocity, and
thrill excitement.
#One of my main concerns of these rollercoasters was the height they all incorporated with each other.
It appeared to me like skyscrapers left to right in a threesixty circular motion. These roller coasters
were exceedingly high up in the sky something I never understood was who would construct these
enormous attractions. I repeatedly questioned the height of these rides while I stared at them
continuously trying not to panic every time I looked up. Acrophobia is significantly the fear of height,
which I appeared to been having every time I visited an amusement park. My family habitually
attempted to give me motivation so my fear of heights wouldn t make me uncomfortable. In addition,
one of the countless days I visited the parks I saw a young boy around my

Throughout the semester in Management Information Class I have learned a lot about information
systems. It was very interesting to learn how the internet works, how you can develop messages
through machines and databases and even how to form some databases. One key point in the design
and implementation of intelligent systems is the process of building knowledge bases. As most of the
research in the AI field has moved from the construction of general purpose problem solvers to
building knowledge based systems that deal with problems restricted to a particular domain, many
techniques have been proposed to acquisition and representation of knowledge bases. Databases are at
the heart of modern commercial application development. Their use ... Show more content on

for strategic business planning, strategic IS plans, IS architecture definition, re engineering business

the broadest application of JAD so far.
The definition is also expanding on another aspect of JAD the location of the session. In the earlier

today, JAD is expanding to include facilitated virtual meetings too. Members located at remote sites

Lessons in Civil Disobedience
No one possesses the same morals or beliefs. Morality does not have a black and white answer
because no one is exactly alike. Everyone has their own opinion and right to voice that opinion, and
there are numerous ways of doing so. As a citizen with my own beliefs, I believe I have the right to
violate laws if I feel morally obligated to. The amount of progress that America has made in such a
short amount of time is astonishing. In some ways it seems as if the only way to make any headway is
to speak up. If I was morally opposed to a policy or law I would go against it due to its effectiveness,
individualism, and past history of the world that has made immense progress. It is important to notice
that if civil disobedience was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You cannot base your morals off of a group s thought, because you disregard your own morals.
Thoreau says that, every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new
(Walden 1). Thoreau despised laziness and considered following the crowd as lazy and that as an
individual, you could better the world by standing up for your own beliefs. Thoreau claimed that, not
till we have lost the world, do we begin to find ourselves, and realize where we are and the infinite
extent of our relations, (Walden 2). That quote signifies that the only way to find ourselves and our
own beliefs is for there to be significant turmoil in the world. Thoreau states in Civil Disobedience
that, The mass of men serve the state thus, not as men mainly, but as machines, with their bodies... In
most cases there is no free exercise whatever of the judgment or of the moral sense; but they put
themselves on a level with wood and earth and stones; and wooden men can perhaps be manufactured
that will serve the purpose as well (Thoreau 3). Thoreau is basically saying that the mob mentality
does not help make the moral decision because there is a great sense of conformity that individuals
feel obligated to follow. To be individual you must realize that you have to put your beliefs before the
conformist s idea. The history of the world and the

Transformational Leadership, Policy, and Change
Leadership, Policy and Change
Julian I
Abstract
This paper will focus on how effective Leadership can influence policy and change in the United
States healthcare system. The implementation of new policy, program, and institutional change is
often meant to improve the quality of the nation s ever changing healthcare system. Several journal
articles and texts have been selected particularly with a focus on leadership strategies to improve the
quality of healthcare, and leadership s ability to influence implemented changes to the system. The
question proposed is; does leadership encourage and influence both public and private initiatives that
measure health outcomes, and organize systems to improve health services when ... Show more

If those affected choose to abdicate leadership roles, they give others power over our future as health
care professionals .
An example used to illustrate my argument that the ability of leadership to impact, new procedures,
policies, can be noted in the passage of the Affordable Care Act, as noted by Heifetz; Leadership
Without Easy Answers (2012), While the Affordable Care Act offers the potential to positively impact
health care, we have a lot of work to do as regulations are implemented at the national and state levels.
Implementation of health care reform may offer yet another test of our political system as Democrats
and Republicans play out their very different health care visions. The federal health care reform law
does not create a new system but does fill gaps in our existing system. It is a product of both a
fragmented political process, which compels compromise, and our fragmented health care system,
which limits reformers options to move away from the status quo. Strong leadership will be required
to realize the potential and promise for health care reform . I do believe that because of
transformational and transactional leadership the passage of the Affordable Care Act was possible.
Below illustrates several fundamental institutional, program, and policies changes leadership will have

The Story Of The 12 Spies
The story of the 12 spies seems to be a story of doubtfulness. Everyone has a sense of doubt because
we are human beings. Life is full of obstacles that you must get over. All obstacles are able to be
conquered, however our most mighty warrior is God. He must learn to not doubt his ability to bring us
through the many storms he places before us. He uses these storms to test our faithfulness in Him.
In this part of the book of Numbers, the spies are sent to look into the land that had been promised to
His people. The part that stood out was the two different stories that came back and how the ten spies
had no faith in the ability of God s promise.
Time after time, God proved to the people of Israel that nothing could defeat them if they just believed
in His word and be faithful to His will. The Lord promised Abraham that his people would be a
mighty nation, Abraham believed and was one of God s most faithful servants.
God used Moses to bring the people out from under the enslavement of Pharaoh. He brought them
through the Red Sea, however the people still doubted that God was powerful enough to bring them to
their own inheritance that waited for them.
The people of Israel, just like people of today, were impatient. Everyone wants instant gratification. In
my workplace, we have new employees that have worked there less than six months and feel they are
entitled to the same things as the employees that have put in work for ten years and over.

An Examination Of Archetypes In Watchmen By Moore And Gibbons
Watchmen, the graphic novel written and illustrated by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons seek to
question the superhero archetypes by refusing to provide a clear hero of a hero or a villain. The
philosophy and motivation of the Watchmen characters were purposely created by Moore and Gibbons
to defy the generic archetype of the characters.
Generally, Superhero comics have characters who are shoved into simple categories which does not
allow them to be multifaceted, but in Watchmen Moore and Gibbons steer away from these dangerous
archetypes to provide characters with substance that defies them from being shoved into the simple
archetype. Rorschach is the extreme example of the Vigilante archetype, which means that he is a part

Rorschach s is a deontologist and his philosophy is dying what he believes in, he has no compromise,
even in Armageddon . Rorschach believes in punishing the action with a punishment that is equally as
immoral as the original action, but Rorschach does not see his retaliation action as a villainous crime
rather an appropriate punishment for the crime. This philosophy can clearly be seen in, figure one,
when Rorschach confronts Moloch in his own apartment, demanding to know answers on the
disappearance of masked vigilantes , Rorschach has no hesitation in shoving the elderly man who is
suffering from cancer into the refrigerator due to Rorschach s personal beliefs that Moloch knew
details surrounding The Comedian s death, and it seemed odd to Rorschach that The Comedian would
have a heartfelt conversation to the ex antagonist. Moore and Gibbons utilise the action of The
Comedian visiting Moloch as an illustration that there were really no heroes or villains in Watchmen.
The philosophy that The Comedian possess is the attitude of an absurdist and a nihilist which is
obvious through the name that Moore and Gibbons gave to The Comedian which literally displays that
life is a joke. The Comedian is captured saying that phrases along the line of the one

Environmental Causes Of Autism
According to Shangraw (2012), there is no concrete etiology of autism because it is not diagnosed by
its cause but on observed behaviors. The Autism Society (n.d.) stated that a possibility for the cause of
autism is the abnormalities in the brain structure or function. In an MRI research study by Piven et al.
(1995), they found that an individual with autism spectrum disorder had a higher total brain volume
and tissue compared to a person who is not on the autism spectrum disorder. Genetic problems and
environmental factors can be a cause of autism spectrum disorder, according to the Mayo Clinic

Causes Of Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a range of predicaments identified by challenges with social skills,
repetitive behaviour, speech and non verbal communication. Signs of this disorder usually come to the
parents attention during the first two years of the child s life. Although in some cases children reach
their developmental milestones at a normal pace and then start to relapse, most often these signs
develop gradually. The diagnostic criteria require that these symptoms become apparent in early
childhood, generally before age three. Autism is formed due to a mixture of genetic and environmental
factors. In some circumstances Autism is associated with certain diseases gained during pregnancy by
making use of drugs and alcohol or by receiving infections

Debt Is Bad
Debt is simply money that is owed, and it can be very dangerous to get into. Many people, even rich
people can go into massive amounts of debt and be nearly unable to escape it and get all of their
money paid back. Debt can include things like loans for credit cards and other things, such as loans
taken out to pay for things that current cash reserves can t pay for. A lot of celebrities have gone into
debt, and I will be explaining one celebrity s debt; Kanye West. On February 13th Kanye announced
that he was approximately $53 million in personal debt.
The news was delivered on his Twitter where he made multiple tweets in which he somewhat vaguely
explained the situation. He mainly blames the debt on issues with being successful in the fashion

Theme Of The Movie Toy Story
An overall theme of the Disney Pixar movie, Toy Story, is that when a person struggles with envy,
they will consequently find themselves in difficult situations and as a result, will gain the opportunity
to recognize their fault. This theme is revealed through various plot elements such as conflict, and plot
chronology. Through the observation of conflict, one recognizes how Buzz and Woody s relationship
changes as Woody s envy dies. In the initial stage of their relationship, conflict can be easily detected
by the audience. This is found when Woody says to Buzz, Listen, Light Snack, you stay away from
Andy. He s mine, and no one is taking him away from me (Lasseter). When the audience witnesses
this, they instantly recognize Woody s envy of Buzz because Buzz is becoming Andy s favorite and
Woody feels like he is being forgot about. Woody s envy drives him to not only speak aggressively to
him, but also encourages him to attack Buzz physically when he later pushes him out of a window.
When the audience notices this aggression, they witness a person vs. person conflict between the two.
This all occurs at the beginning of the film, before the difficult scenario is put upon the protagonist,
Woody. In this movie, the difficult scenario is caused by Woody s jealousy. Specifically, when he
attempts to knock Buzz down a crack in order to hide him from Andy, but instead he accidentally
manages to knock him out the window. As a result, Andy takes Woody because Buzz was nowhere

The Secretary Chant
In this poem Marge Piercy s speaker evokes a concrete vision of a woman who has lost her personal
identity to her job. Her bold and descriptive use of metaphors allow the reader to envision a woman
who is living her life vicariously through her career. Ms. Piercy successfully uses paradox,
personification, and the pun to bring the character alive. With the use of metaphors, both implied and
explicit, the reader can deeply empathize with the central character of this poem.
From the first line of the poem the tone is set for the reader. It is not so vague as to use a simple
simile, but a strong manifestation of the idea of the speaker as an actual personification of a material
object. She does not say My hips are like a desk , she says ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often times the secretary or office assistant are seen as nothing more than robotic extensions
completely devoid of human qualities. Press my fingers (11) is an instruction to her boss explaining
exactly how she is to provide a function as if she was explaining how to operate any other piece of
office equipment. Like any secretary she would have to organize an office and explain to her boss
where things were to be found when she was out of the office. From my mouth issue canceled reams
(16).
She is clearly telling her boss where he would find the used paper and closed files but the pun
intended is that whatever she tells her boss is ignored anyway.
By the time the reader gets to the end of the poem the secretary is fully developed as an inanimate
machine, Swollen, heavy (17). She has given up trying to be human and has resigned herself to the
fact that she has been taken over completely by the machines that surround her. Metaphorically
speaking, with the use of metonymy, the secretary, now as a machine herself is about to be delivered /
of a baby Xerox machine (18 20), thus perpetuating a species of human machines.
In the final four lines, the secretary decries that I wonce was a woman and that she needs to be filed
under W . She is again giving instructions to her boss that she now serves no real function as a woman
and should just be filed away and forgotten. In this way, Ms.

Characteristics Of Malignant Hyperthermia ( Mh )
Abstract
Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) is a genetically inherited, pharmacogenic disorder involving a severe
malfunction within the skeletal muscles, causing them to be stuck in a contracted state. It is found to
be triggered in susceptible patients by the administration of certain anesthetic agents during and after
surgical procedures. It may also be activated by the use of other drugs, such as muscle relaxants and
triggered by other circumstances such as stress, trauma, and even exercising. Not only are the muscles
normal physiology affected, but abnormalities of the whole body occur disrupting its natural
homeostasis. If it is not treated immediately, it can be fatal. Susceptibility is found in patients who
have had a known family history of MH. In order for a medical professional or a patient to be
prepared to handle MH one must understand how it affects the normal physiology of the body, what
signs to look for, and how it can be diagnosed, treated, and prevented. There is no cure for MH, but
there are specific drugs and precautionary measures that are used to prevent and treat it when a patient
is susceptible.
A Brief Overview of Malignant Hyperthermia
Malignant Hyperthermia is a life threatening, genetic disorder that involves the skeletal muscles. It
commonly occurs intraoperatively and postoperatively when inhalant agents such as halothane,
enflurane, and isoflurane are used, as well as some muscle relaxants such as succinylcholine and
curare. It

What Are The Influence Of The French Revolution
Global Influence of the French Revolution
The French Revolution is a significant event in human history. It began in 1789 and ended in the late
1790s with the triumph of Napoleon Bonaparte. During this time, the french population transformed
their country s political landscape, bringing an end to monarchy, and became a republic. Within
France itself, the revolution led to the redistribution of church property to the government and to the
people. The most major contribution of the revolution is the Declaration of Rights of Man and the
Citizen, which made all citizens equal under the law. But the revolution did not only changed
situations in France, it actually played a crucial part in changing the world to be as it is now. The

demanded that the United States support the French against the wealthy and corrupt British. Besides
creating internal separation within the United States, the french revolution also led to conflicts

both countries preying on US shipping to the other country. This eventually led to near war with the

Yosemite Valley Painting By Pablo Munoz
YOSEMITE VALLEY S MOST FAMOUS VIEW
Have you ever wonder why an artwork is so important for some people? There are many answers to
this question, but one is that an artwork is important because it portrays some kind of feelings.
Without art, our lives would simply become plain, boring and lifeless. Through art, artists can express
emotions, such as happiness, love, sadness or grief. Each form of art is different, but they somehow
connect to our souls and emotions. Therefore, if you want to feel an environment of tranquility,
harmony, and relaxation you should visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and see the beautiful
Yosemite Valley painting by Pablo Munoz. The artist concentrated his painting on distant mountains,
and rushing streams that invites viewers to admire the beauty of nature. Pablo Munoz used some
elements of art in his painting such as color, light, and line to show his viewers different emotions.
One element of art that Munoz used in his painting is color. He used color in his painting for many
reasons. For example, he used local colors, which are the colors we understand to be like the

The Taming Of The Shrew And 10 Things I Hate About You...
How has the process of detecting intertextual relationships between texts also enriched your
understanding of a significant cultural issue or idea?
The explicit and implicit subjects of this play arranged marriages, the authority of fathers and
husbands, the obedience expected from daughters and wives, the economic helplessness of most
women were issues and experiences that touched the lives of everyone in Shakespeare s audience.
Dorothea Kehler
Detecting intertextual relationships between The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare and 10
Things I Hate About You directed by Gil Junger has enriched my understanding of feminism in the
American society. The Taming of The Shrew, written in 1593, challenges cultural expectations of
women s rights at that time. 10 Things I Hate About You however, was produced to fit the context of
1990 s America. A period when a great deal of anxiety was focused on adolescent girls, following
publication of reports which found that the education of adolescent girls was marginalized.
In the 16th century, it may have been a historical fact that Eve was created from Adam s rib, thus the
socially accepted system of patriarchy. The Taming of The Shrew promotes typical 16th century
attitudes towards matrimony and relations between fathers and daughters. Baptista, Katherine s father,
treats marriage as a transaction, where his daughters are the commodities to be exchanged.

Hamlet Soliloquy Compare And Contrast
Here are two extremely famous productions both portraying one of the most famous speeches of all
time, Hamlet s To be or not to be soliloquy. Kenneth Branagh s version is approximately three minutes
and ten seconds, while Franco Zeffirelli is about three minutes and thirty five seconds. Branagh chose
himself to be the star of his own play, while Zeffirelli chose a young Mel Gibson. This soliloquy
occurs in Act 3 scene 1.
Both of the directors takes on this scene could not have been more different. In the two versions, the
physical appearance of Hamlet is practically opposite. Branagh presented himself with bright blonde
hair and very strange goatee and mustache, he looks like royalty. To contrast, Mel Gibson looks more
like an average person wearing all black. Branagh is in the middle of his huge castle, surrounded by ...

seem insane in that he would take his own life, rather he is enraged and searching for revenge. In this
version we are left to wonder if Hamlet is talking to himself or to Polonius and Claudius. This also
goes along with the recurring theme of the play, appearance vs reality. In Zeffirelli version, he has

How does Pompeii relate to the wider Roman world?
The ancient Roman city of Pompeii was located near modern day Naples, in the Italian region of
Campania. Destroyed and buried under 20ft of ash and pumice with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in
79 AD, at the height of its glory and grandeur ... Pompeii was one of the largest cities in the empire
with a population totalling 20,000 . This paper will look at the socio economic structure in both
Pompeii and the wider Roman world. Pompeii was a typical Roman city, imitating the capital city of
Rome. Life was dependent on economic status: commerce and agriculture contributed to the economy,
while the Roman baths and amphitheatre provided leisure to the citizens of the Roman Empire.
Pompeii s ruins give an unparalleled glimpse into the daily life of city dwellers. During the first
century AD, Pompeii prospered as a commercial and farming centre ... with commodities including

Stress is displayed in many forms, so aside from the physical trauma the body has to deal with,
anxiety and emotions also add to Mr Jensens stress which typically causes a rise in heart rate and
blood pressure and a reduction of pain tolerance. Post operatively Mr. Jensen s blood pressure has
dropped which through a series of signaling pathways indirectly activates the sympathetic nervous
system to release catecholamine, glucagon and inhibition of insulin thereby resulting in retention of
sodium and water, a rise in blood pressure and blood sugar and ultimately leading to renal dysfunction
through the disruption of the renin angiotensin system. The presence of hypotension from the injury

Analysis Of Harry Potter And Dumbledore
In this film critique, I will be analyzing the first half of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone. The
film starts out on Privet Drive in the dark of night emphasizing something dark but important is about
to happen. Dumbledore is standing under a street light and is using magic to put the rest of the street
lights out when he notices a cat, who quickly transforms into Professor McGonagall. The darkness and
low voices emphasize danger and suspense. The character who plays Professor Dumbledore, Richard
Harris, is a perfect because of his voice and composure, he goes along perfectly with the book! His
presence demands respect and his composure makes him seem wise. The same goes for the Dursley
family; Aunt Petunia, Fiona Shaw, is a sharp/crinkle nosed, rude looking skinny woman, Uncle
Vernon, Richard Griffiths, is fat and boastful showing he s a horrible person, Dudley, Harry Melling,
is a short, fat and pig like looking boy his dad with the attitude combination of both parents, creating a
monster of a child. Daniel Ratcliffe is perfect for the part of Harry Potter because he s small, skinny,
you would never suspect anything abnormal by just looking at him.
Harry lives under the stairs at the Dursley with a lock on the outside of the cabinet and slot just big
enough for a dinner plate. This emphasizes the Dursleys feelings about Harry being there. Harry
receives his first letter from Hogwarts, the look on Uncle Vernons face shows deep concern, almost
like frightened.

The Role Of Male Teachers And Academic And. Behavioral...
Examining Male Teachers and Their Potential to Increase the Academic and Behavioral Performances
of Boys in School Teacher Inquiry Project: A Pilot Study Joe R. De Rieux Pacific University
Spring/Fall 2015
Abstract Elementary education is a field that is abundant with female teachers. The disparity between
the number of male teachers and the number of female teachers is actually increasing and is arguably
as disparate as nearly any field of employment in the American workforce. While this does not
automatically, nor necessarily, mean that having more men in the field will increase academic and
behavioral performance of boys, it is most certainly worth a look. This research study is of the view
that having more males in the teaching workforce does increase some students performance. This is
not because males are better teachers than females. It is seemingly, in part, because there are more and
more boys who are raised by single mothers than ever before and many are missing strong and caring
male role models. It was also found that boys who struggle in school sometimes connect better with
teachers that share the same gender, interests, customs, and more. The purpose of

effectiveness of the group communication, we were able to build trust, respect and understand the

had chosen was incorrect, so we had to make the necessary changes to accomplish our goals. The
other effective feature is the purpose of the group. Kozier et al (2010) stated that the effective group
purpose is when goal, task, and outcomes are clarified. Understanding and modified so that members
of the group can commit themselves to purposes through cooperation (p.401). For instance, each
individual was assign a task and knew what was to be accomplished. As group we all decided to meet

The Punk Subculture And The Hippie Counter Culture
Subculture is just a smaller culture within a much broader and mainstream or dominant culture and is

and fashion. In the late 1960s is roughly when punks came about. They are more centered on their
style of music called punk rock which is a more aggressive and fast paced style of rock and roll. This
music is a response to the hippie counter culture and some bands were more heavily influenced than
others. By the late 1970s is when the punk subculture began to expand and increased the number of

Punk rock is also played by small bands. It was sometimes played by a solo artist but not usually. In a
punk rock band there is one vocalist who does most of or all the singing, two electric guitarists, an
electric bassist, and one drummer. When the musicians of the band do lend backup vocals, they are
main just shouting slogans or choruses. When the punk subculture first came about, most of its
members were in the lower economic class. They had become tired and jealous of the wealth of those
who dedicated themselves to popular rock during these times. What they did to combat this was
publish their own music or sign with small independent labels, in hopes to receive some wealth as
well in what they saw as a money hungry music industry. Due to the use of drugs, immoral sex, and
deep and sometimes violent power struggles, most early punk rock bands were short lived. Though
these punk rock bands were short lived, their respective popularity evolved punk rock into a lifestyle
and a movement. From the view of an average spectator, the dress code of a punk might look dirty and
disorganized with no thought put into it, but this poor and torn clothing is carefully put together and
arranged. The idea of what some people call insulting or indecent is the reason why punks wear this
type of clothing. They want to look offensive and dirty to the normal eye. Their clothing was modified
with everyday objects to have that aesthetic look and style that everyone else would hate.

Unit 18 Database Design Oliver Taylor Resubmission
Unit 18
Task 1 What are the benefits of a relational database?
A benefit of a relational database would be that the data is only stored once. This means you don t
have to change multiple records and it doesn t take up much storage space. For the veterinary practise
this is ideal for them, as this is the main reason to why they re changing from paper to Microsoft
Access. Having everything on Access and not on paper means they can search for information quicker
through the search bar and also it can all be stored on a hard drive. This will save money on buying

If the field size is 70 , that means the user can input up to 70 letters, numbers or symbols. It s
important that you change it field size if it s the automatically the appropriate size. This is because if
you have a field size of 70, that ll take up 70 bytes of storage, which by itself isn t a lot, but over a
massive database that ll take up a lot of room. So for a First Name for example, instead of leaving it as
70, it should be changed to around 10 15.
One to One relationship
A one to one relationship in a database is where each row in a database is linked with another
database. Only one can be linked with another from another table. For example in Table A and Table
B, each row in Table has to be linked with another row in Table B. In each of them, they must have the
same number of rows, otherwise it won t work. This does make it sound like you could just merge the
two tables into one, which in theory is true. But the advantage of having two separate tables is that if
you have columns of data that you don t often use then you can separate them into another table. This
will make information in the primary table easier to read as it will only have the relevant information
in it.
One to many relationships
A one to many database relationship is where each row in a table can be related to many other rows in
another table. With being able to do this you can use frequently used data from one data and reference
it many

  • 3. Escapism In A Clean Well Lighted Place Despair and Loneliness in A Clean, Well Lighted Place In the short story A Clean, Well Lighted Place by Ernest Hemingway, two waiters in a café observe an old deaf man, and discuss how he attempted to commit suicide and failed. As the night goes on and the old man gets drunk, the two waiters debate on the topic of life and despair. The young waiter has both a wife and a job, so he is always eager to get home before three in the morning because he is doing a lot with his life. He even admits that he thinks that the old man should have killed himself so that the young waiter wouldn t always have to leave the café so late. The old waiter on the other hand, only has a job so he sympathizes with the old man because the café is the only thing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He thinks that religion does not help feeling depressed or lonely and both of these things you must face alone. All he needs is the café and to be able to provide this safe haven for other people who feel like him. When he is finished closing up the café, he returns home and thinks about how he doesn t like bars and bodegas and prefers the clean well lighted café because it was a very different thing (7). He knows he will go into his room and be up all night thinking until the sun would come up. Then, he would sleep. Hemingway writes, After all, he said to himself, it s probably only insomnia. Many must have it (7). The ending of this story shows that the old waiter is in fact full of despair and loneliness. He tries to convince himself that it s only insomnia and tries to feel less alone by saying that many must have it. Even though he acknowledges that he and the old man are extremely similar, it appears that the old waiter is not yet ready to admit that at the end of his life, he is feeling horrible and he does not know how to bring himself out of it. All he knows is the café since that s where he seems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Native Title Case Study Law reform in relation to Native Title has developed and become testament to the growing justice for the ATSI community, however effective mean and complete justice is yet to be achieved. From the changing values and attitudes of society, alongside conditions of social change and new concepts of justice ATSI justice is being implemented, with law reform. With seminal cases alike Mabo and Wik, legislation has been delegated and changed accordingly; with the recognition of Native title finally succeeding in overturning the terra nullius doctrine, which for centuries has damaged and hurt the ATSI peoples. Despite this, with the Wik decision and largely the 10 point plan, it sought to pour bucket loads of extinguishment upon Native Title ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the change from Keatings progressive labour government to John Howard s conservative Coalition government, came resounding regression to the Native Title act, with the 10 point plan, and the coinciding Wik decision nine months after. The Wik VS Queensland case (1996) established that in cases of conflict between pastoral leases and native title, pastoral leases override and can successfully extinguish native title , which was adopted with the change of legislation and introduction of the Native Title amendment Act (1998). If there is no conflict, they can coexist. Many cases of Native Title extinguishment has occurred, and only approximately 600 areas hold Native Title in all of Australia, with less than 1% in NSW. As a procession from the Native Title declaration, this legislature has digressed justice to the ATSI community , and as further iterated by Sydney Morning Herald has undone the good of the Mabo decision . ATSI discrimination following the legislation of the Native title Act (1996) significantly rose in the public discourse with renowneded personalities claiming they could take their backyards , and an unspoken deeply rooted fear for many, dating back to Australia s colonization; that Australia could be declared completely under Native Title, and the sovereignty of the Crown could be questioned . For ATSI peoples , the introduction of the 10 point plan, and the Native Title Ammendment Act (1998) marks a significant national regression upon achieving justice for their community as they sought to pour bucket loads of extinguishment on the native title rights of Indigenous Australians. Law reform, in this case has been dominantly ineffective in achieving justice for the ATSI peoples, and rather revoking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Decline Of Organized Religion In Western Civilization Altemeyer, Bob. The Decline of Organized Religion in Western Civilization. International Journal for the Psychology of Religion, vol. 14, no. 2, Apr. 2004, pp. 77 89. EBSCOhost, search.ebscohost.com The practice of organized religion has been declining greatly since the mid 20th century, but the pace in which religion is dying is not constant in every western country. Ireland is the only country where most people attend a religious event weekly, on the other hand, less than ten percent of Scandinavians attend religious events. Organized religion is dying where it once was common in everyday life, which is bad news for church leaders who want to fill their seats. From 1945 to 1985 the percent of regular church attendees in Canada dropped in half, from 70% to 35%. Although people have stopped associating themselves with a religion, many of them still believe in a creator. Around 32 percent of America s population attends church weekly, but 66 percent of Americans have no doubt that there is a God, and another 16 percent believe in a God but have doubts (Altemeyer 79). There is evidence that the recent rise of religious apostasy occurred because of backlash against the Religious Right , the christian fundamentalists that are known to be anti homosexual. Many people are turned off by these beliefs and severed their already weak relationships with the church. Children are also not being taught religious beliefs because of parents who have left the faith. Parents have stopped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Diverse Characters In Cassandra Clare s The Shadowhunter... Cassandra Clare s works, The Shadowhunter Chronicles, are full of diverse characters, and for various reasons. One reason being that she believes it is important for novels to have all different kinds of characters to reflect the world around us; because the world is diverse, the book she writes must also be diverse. She strives to create relatable characters so that readers of any sexual orientation, race, or gender are able to identify with her works. For example, Clare s choice of writing her main character as a young female was made because she would have wanted to read that as a teenager. Every character is created in order to give people, especially those who are not as represented in the media, someone to look up to or relate to. Cassandra Clare creates an important series for teenagers to read as they begin to discover who they are; the inclusion of racially diverse, LGBTQ+, and mentally disabled characters in Clare s The Mortal Instruments and The Dark Artifices gives young readers a variety of different characters so that any reader can see themselves in the novels. First and foremost, I would like to emphasize how important it is to have representation in young adult novels. A large part of the reason that teenagers read books is to read about someone that they can relate to. Being able to read about a character who has a lot in common with the reader helps the reader to not only feel connected to the book and its characters, but also to feel as if someone is ... • 11. Why I Support For The Secdef The unwritten rule when partaking in discussions professionally is to avoid matters that cover religion and politics. Many people care very deeply about religion and/or politics, and many factors have contributed to these passionate opinions. The bottom line is when talking about these topics, focus and effort are diverted from what is most important in a professional environment. In the military, the same dynamic can and has been observed in units across the country. The military is a melting pot of culture, religion, and political opinions with individuals who care deeply about them. Presidential campaigns summate most of these topics in one discussion. Most conversations start with, Who do you support and why? . The why, is where most heated debates begin. Today, more pressure than ever has been placed on service members to comment on presidential campaigns. In addition, more avenues to comment are now available. In my paper, I will explain why support for the SECDEF is crucial to help service members remain focused and the united states military to function more effectively without political influence. Social media is something almost every American citizen participates in, in today s society. • 12. A Decade Of Fear Summary Sam Robert in the article A decade of fear argues that Mccarthyism turned Americans against each other. Robert supports his claim by illustrating fear, describing betrayal, and comparing it to other US internal conflicts. The author s purpose is to point out a vulnerable point in American history in order to demonstrate how Americans fell prey to Mccarthy s propaganda. The author writes in a direct and cynical tone for an educated audience. I Strongly agree with Rogers. Mccarthyism caused Americans to turn on each other because it sparked and strengthened the fear of there being communist spies in the government. As well as inciting Americans to hunt and expose communists or anyone they thought to be communist and plunging Americans into a mass hysteria. Clearly Mccarthyism planted the fear of there being communist spies in the government. For example Mccarthy stated I have here in hand a list of of 205, a list of names that were made known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party and who nevertheless are still working and shaping policy in the state department. This alone had people beginning to become anxious. The Ethiopian government had hoped that by forcing coffee buyers into licensing agreements would lead to coffee farmers gaining more control over its coffee trade and earn a bigger slice of the pie by receiving a higher percentage of earnings from the retail price of coffee. Utilitarianism is an ethical doctrine which states that people should produce the most happiness or pleasure for everyone who is affected by those actions. The utilitarian view of justice proposes an economic system which will benefit the society than any other system. Hence it is suggested that an egalitarian allocation of income would increase the income of people who earn less which would eventually boost total happiness (Shaw, 2005) The underlying fact that coffee farmers only get 10% of the profit of each cup of coffee sold and millions of Ethiopians who rely on coffee trade as a source of income and living under extreme poverty suggests that Starbucks did not practice what they preach and should have taken a more holistic approach in helping coffee farmers in Ethiopia earning a fairer share of income from the coffee trade. This was when millions of Jews and other people who were thought to be a race and were sent to concentration camps by those who refer to as evil people. Although many people thought this, one girl, Anne Frank, who was a Jewish girl in hiding, said this: In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart. Regarding all of the hate and struggles Anne and her family faced, she still saw good in everyone and everything that happened. After reading the play based on Anne s real diary she kept while in hiding, I have to agree with her famous quote. One of the main reasons I agree with Anne is because of the empathy Mr. Frank showed for her daughter when times were scary. Now, I do understand that all arguments have two sides and that there are some who don t agree with me, according to Mr. Van Daan s selfishness and greed. Now, I m sure some of you are saying that there are more acts of kindness throughout the play, and I agree with you, but what convinced me to side with Anne and her thought is when her father, Mr. Frank, attended to her needs after a nightmare she had. On page 64, the following dialogue takes place: Mr. Frank: I want you to take this pill. Anne: What is it? Mr. Frank: Something to quiet you. ... Do you want me to read to you for a while? During this scene, the Van Daan s, the Frank s and Mr. Dussel had gone to bed for the night. Everyone was sleeping peacefully until Anne started screaming from a terrible nightmare. She accidentally woke everyone else up with her screaming, and her father decided to take care of Anne and let everyone else go back to sleep. Unlike Mr. Van Daan, Mr. Frank, or Anne s father, showed that he has empathy for his daughter and would do anything to make sure that she was okay. And by asking if she wanted him to read to her really showed that he really cared about her. His act not only shows empathy for Anne, but that he s there for her when she needs him and that he doesn t just care about himself, but about others. Since I was only an adolescent my curiosity arbitrary sparked on its own it was only until then when I began to think differently. Although I was too afraid to ride the highest roller coasters I was primarily curious about the height, velocity, and thrill excitement. #One of my main concerns of these rollercoasters was the height they all incorporated with each other. These roller coasters were exceedingly high up in the sky something I never understood was who would construct these enormous attractions. I repeatedly questioned the height of these rides while I stared at them continuously trying not to panic every time I looked up. Implementation of health care reform may offer yet another test of our political system as Democrats and Republicans play out their very different health care visions. The federal health care reform law does not create a new system but does fill gaps in our existing system. How has the process of detecting intertextual relationships between texts also enriched your understanding of a significant cultural issue or idea? The explicit and implicit subjects of this play arranged marriages, the authority of fathers and husbands, the obedience expected from daughters and wives, the economic helplessness of most women were issues and experiences that touched the lives of everyone in Shakespeare s audience. Dorothea Kehler Detecting intertextual relationships between The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare and 10 Things I Hate About You directed by Gil Junger has enriched my understanding of feminism in the American society. The Taming of The Shrew, written in 1593, challenges cultural expectations of women s rights at that time. 10 Things I Hate About You however, was produced to fit the context of 1990 s America. A period when a great deal of anxiety was focused on adolescent girls, following publication of reports which found that the education of adolescent girls was marginalized. In the 16th century, it may have been a historical fact that Eve was created from Adam s rib, thus the socially accepted system of patriarchy. The Taming of The Shrew promotes typical 16th century attitudes towards matrimony and relations between fathers and daughters. Baptista, Katherine s father, treats marriage as a transaction, where his daughters are the commodities to be exchanged. Faith gentlemen, now I play a merchant s part and venture ... • 31. Hamlet Soliloquy Compare And Contrast Here are two extremely famous productions both portraying one of the most famous speeches of all time, Hamlet s To be or not to be soliloquy. Kenneth Branagh s version is approximately three minutes and ten seconds, while Franco Zeffirelli is about three minutes and thirty five seconds. Branagh chose himself to be the star of his own play, while Zeffirelli chose a young Mel Gibson. This soliloquy occurs in Act 3 scene 1. Both of the directors takes on this scene could not have been more different. In the two versions, the physical appearance of Hamlet is practically opposite. Branagh presented himself with bright blonde hair and very strange goatee and mustache, he looks like royalty. To contrast, Mel Gibson looks more like an average person wearing all black. He then has Hamlet speak into the mirror that they are hiding behind. By doing this, he has the audience in suspense because you have no idea if Hamlet knows that they are actually behind it. Branagh does not seem insane in that he would take his own life, rather he is enraged and searching for revenge. In this version we are left to wonder if Hamlet is talking to himself or to Polonius and Claudius. This also goes along with the recurring theme of the play, appearance vs reality. In Zeffirelli version, he has Hamlet alone in a dark tomb which symbolizes death and sorrow. This Hamlet is very much contemplating committing suicide. It also emphasizes his great depression. Zeffirelli has Hamlet in a tomb with really low lighting and is taken in multiple shots(edited a lot). This enables the scene to focus on the pain in Hamlets voice and ... • 36. Analysis Of Harry Potter And Dumbledore In this film critique, I will be analyzing the first half of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone. The film starts out on Privet Drive in the dark of night emphasizing something dark but important is about to happen. Dumbledore is standing under a street light and is using magic to put the rest of the street lights out when he notices a cat, who quickly transforms into Professor McGonagall. The darkness and low voices emphasize danger and suspense. The character who plays Professor Dumbledore, Richard Harris, is a perfect because of his voice and composure, he goes along perfectly with the book! His presence demands respect and his composure makes him seem wise. The same goes for the Dursley family; Aunt Petunia, Fiona Shaw, is a sharp/crinkle nosed, rude looking skinny woman, Uncle Vernon, Richard Griffiths, is fat and boastful showing he s a horrible person, Dudley, Harry Melling, is a short, fat and pig like looking boy his dad with the attitude combination of both parents, creating a monster of a child. Daniel Ratcliffe is perfect for the part of Harry Potter because he s small, skinny, you would never suspect anything abnormal by just looking at him. Harry lives under the stairs at the Dursley with a lock on the outside of the cabinet and slot just big enough for a dinner plate. This emphasizes the Dursleys feelings about Harry being there. Examining Male Teachers and Their Potential to Increase the Academic and Behavioral Performances of Boys in School Teacher Inquiry Project: A Pilot Study Joe R. De Rieux Pacific University Spring/Fall 2015 Abstract Elementary education is a field that is abundant with female teachers. The disparity between the number of male teachers and the number of female teachers is actually increasing and is arguably as disparate as nearly any field of employment in the American workforce. While this does not automatically, nor necessarily, mean that having more men in the field will increase academic and behavioral performance of boys, it is most certainly worth a look. This research study is of the view that having more males in the teaching workforce does increase some students performance. This is not because males are better teachers than females. It is seemingly, in part, because there are more and more boys who are raised by single mothers than ever before and many are missing strong and caring male role models. It was also found that boys who struggle in school sometimes connect better with teachers that share the same gender, interests, customs, and more. The purpose of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the musicians of the band do lend backup vocals, they are main just shouting slogans or choruses. When the punk subculture first came about, most of its members were in the lower economic class. They had become tired and jealous of the wealth of those who dedicated themselves to popular rock during these times. What they did to combat this was publish their own music or sign with small independent labels, in hopes to receive some wealth as well in what they saw as a money hungry music industry. Due to the use of drugs, immoral sex, and deep and sometimes violent power struggles, most early punk rock bands were short lived. So for a First Name for example, instead of leaving it as 70, it should be changed to around 10 15. One to One relationship A one to one relationship in a database is where each row in a database is linked with another database. Only one can be linked with another from another table. For example in Table A and Table B, each row in Table has to be linked with another row in Table B. In each of them, they must have the same number of rows, otherwise it won t work. This does make it sound like you could just merge the two tables into one, which in theory is true. But the advantage of having two separate tables is that if you have columns of data that you don t often use then you can separate them into another table. This will make information in the primary table easier to read as it will only have the relevant information in it.
