How Were The Ideological Foundations Of The 1790s French...
Indentification and Evaluation of Sources
This investigation will focus on the question of How were the ideological foundations of the 1790s
French monarchy challenged by political Enlightenment philosophers and writers? The French
monarchy was controlled by an authoritarian regime which created political and economic issues in
its society of the 18th century. Montesquieu, John Locke, and Rousseau were political philosophers
who successfully expressed their writings and ideas to the public who then were able to challenge
the despotic influences that governed France. Due to the inclusion and close evaluation of these
philosophers it was determined that Enlightenment and Utility: Bentham in French, Bentham in
France by Emmanuelle De Champs and The Oxford History of the French Revolution by William
Doyle are valuable sources to the investigation. Both sources state how these thinkers represented
enlightenment in legal thought as well as the works of these writers and the influence these works
had. This information should act as the focus of the investigation and aid in answering the question.
Source A: The Oxford History of the French Revolution: Enlightened Opinion (44 66) The source
includes a wide range of information written by the Chairman of the School of History, William
Doyle. As a secondary source the book s origin is from the Oxford University Press as they
published it in 1989. The author s purpose was to go through history of the French Revolution,

Argumentative Essay On Maternity Leave
While doing some research, I have learned that maternity leave has become quite an issue. In
Virginia, we do not have a state law that specifically requires employers to offer pregnancy leave.
Although, we do have the Human Rights Act that must provide some leave for those women who
are disabled by pregnancy. Being disabled by pregnancy means that you can no longer do certain
activities so that the mother can deliver safely and care for the newborn. In America, the U.S. has
a policy, The Family and Medical leaveAct of 1993. It is mandating 12 weeks of unpaid leave
annually. Unfortunately, only four states have paid maternity leave. The four states are California,
New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. California and New Jersey gives you 6 weeks and
Rhode Island gives you only 4 weeks. Research has shown that women in the United Statesare more
likely to drop out of work force voluntarily due to lack of time with the infant and stress. After just
looking at maternity leave in America, I decided to branch out and do other countries. I wanted to
compare the difference between the two. Upon doing some research I... Show more content on

Siriano Research Paper
Siriano was born in Annapolis Maryland in November 18, 1982, making him thirty five years
old. He spent year at Broadneck Senior High where Siriano had a lot of friends, especially girls.
Unfortunately, growing up, he experienced bullying in school because of his sexual preference.
The way he acted was strange to many, so he needed to drop out and change schools. Sadly, his
father rejected him because he was gay and left the family. The school allowed Siriano to choose
fashion design as his course of study. He has one older sister, and is of Italian and German

Essay On Asylum Seekers
I created this article on asylum seekers and Australia s refusal to cooperate in the acceptance of
these refugees as an attempt to raise awareness the issue of asylum seekers. It is also intended to
examine the reasons why people are asylum seekers in the first place. I hope that We ve

This article was not just written for those who agree that Australians should accept refugees but
also those who do not. It was written so that the people who disagree with the acceptance of
refugees could get an idea of the struggles that millions of people go through. It was written to
provide information as to why we don t accept refugees, but also why we should. This article is

Cold War:
Dr. Strangelove states quite boldly that man is not able to control the nuclear bomb (page 442
paragraph 11). It is a dismal, depressing, sick picture of the state of man and of government that
this film gives, and it it not very much alleviated by the fact that it is presented as a howling joke
(page 442 paragraph 13).
Cinema Vol 2:
Kubrick s work reveals deeper evidence of the personal involvement which distinguishes the true
auteur. His develpment has been remarkably consistent through an apparently heterogeneous range
of projects, and each film s meaning becomes more confidently definable when one places it in
relation to its fellows (page 561 paragraph 2). A number of Kubrick s movies before Strangelove
are explicitly humanitarian , consciously dedicated to protest against inhumanity, and Strangelove
itself has been read similarly (page 561 paragraph 3). The much more polished work of Dr.
Strangelove which follows a strict scheme in which real time and cinematic time coincide,
analysing an intricate network of interconnecting operations without recourse to doubling back
perhaps indicates Kubrick s own retrospective dissatisfaction with the time scheme of The Killing

The amino acids that are not immediately required are broken down in the liver to make urea; this
urea is carried in the bloodstream to the kidneys for elimination of waste.
The functions of the renal system, which are performed by the kidneys, are to regulate and
maintain the balance of electrolytes and the pH of the fluid that has been processed. It assists in
the production of new red blood cells and it also involved in the maintenance of blood pressure.
Kidneys, ureters and bladder are associated with renal system.
The main functions of the kidney in order of importance are: Blood pressure control salt and water
balance erythropoietin (a hormone) production vitamin D metabolism
The function of ureters is to enter the urinary bladder at an angle to help prevent any back flow
(reflux) of urine back into the ureter. The ureter connects the kidney to the urinary bladder and
urine is drained from the kidney and stored in the bladder it s a passage through which urine passes
from kidneys to the urinary bladder.

Application Of Graphics And Design
Application of graphics Backgrounds A good background should have a consistent colour
scheme which is eye catching without being overpowering to your eyes. So depending on the
style of site should use block colours this will give the website a sleek but simple look. But
depending on the purpose of a site the background colours etc. can vary e.g. if a background was
for a childrens sight it may be colourful or a car site may be a steely grey if it was intended to sell
sports cars e.g. an Aston Martin. Backgrounds are a prevelant feature on websites and can be the
block from which a website designer decides on what layout and colour schemes they use
throughout the rest of the site. When deciding on a background a website designer must take
into account the file size of the background image and maybe the quality of the background image
as it may lead to longer load times and so the background should be properly optimised. For a
background image the designer can use a raster image say if the background was the badge of a car
or an image of a sports car. Raster images are good for displaying detailed images their quality is
lost when they are zoomed in. This is an example of a bad website background: This is an
example of an appealing background for a web site: Website graphics Website graphics such as
logos or banners for sites should be eye catching and professional looking as they can make a
business or site more memorable and thus may make the user more likely to come

Why Should College Athletes Get Paid
Year after year fans enjoy nail biting moments produced by the NCAA basketball tournament and
football season. Many would argue that the NCAA provides a product that matches up with the
professionals both competitively and financially. The only difference is that professionals get
paid for the revenue that they bring in while NCAA athletes do not. It is time for change, college
athletes should be monetarily compensated because they are the ones who have made the NCAA
profitable for many years. The idea of college athletes getting paid has been at the center of the
sports world because there are a variety of opinions surrounding this topic. Raymond G. Schneider

Those alone can make enough money to pay college athletes. For instance college football is a
money maker when December arrives, teams are guaranteed to see an increase in numbers because
that is when championships are settled. There are at least twenty bowl games during that month
ending with the national title game which is seen by millions around the world. The title game
alone can generate an enormous amount of revenue because of all the advertising that the NCAA
does prior to the game.
When it comes to college basketball, it is basically the same thing. This sport alone generates large
amounts of money because it is a popular sport in the United States. The real money is made in
the month of March when the most anticipated college basketball tournament is played. Multiple
businesses work with the NCAA to have their commercials shown during nationally televised
games, the deals are made between them for large amounts of cash. According to an article from
the NPR website Our athletic program at the University of Miami is subsidized by the university
millions of dollars, in fact and I would argue that most of the programs in this country are in the
same situation she says ( Staff ). When all of these factors are put together it is very possible to
pay college athletes since it is proven that the NCAA and universities make millions of dollars with
ease.

In the 1880s, as the European powers were carving up Africa, King Leopold II of Belgium seized
for himself the vast and mostly unexplored territory surrounding the Congo River. Carrying out a
genocidal plundering of the Congo, he looted its rubber, brutalized its people, and ultimately
slashed its population by ten million all the while shrewdly cultivating his reputation as a great

Moral Relativism and Problems Associated With this Philosophy
Moral relativists believe that no one has the right to judge another individuals choice, decisions, or
lifestyle because however they choose to live is right for them. In addition everyone has the right
to their own moral beliefs and to impose those beliefs on another individual is wrong. At first
glance moral relativismmay appear ideal in allowing for individual freedom. After all why
shouldn t each individual be entitled to their own idea of moral values and why should others
force their beliefs on anyone else. American philosopher and essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803
1882), tells us, what is right is only what the individual thinks is right. There is no higher court of

After all their actions, they believe are right and you cannot tell them they were wrong. In turn,
we can imagine for a minute that your personal morals and values contain, eye for eye from the
Bible book of Exodus 21:24. Therefore you can morally seek this mugger out and rightfully injure
him and steal his belongings. While carrying out your right to inflict the same damage on your
attacker, their young child is watching and feels that what you are doing is wrong. The child in
turn applies their moral values to the situation and approaches you with a gun because they feel it is
morally correct to use whatever means necessary to protect their home and family. This chain
reaction of individuals applying their moral values to situations that arise is a continual and
expanding predicament. How do you stop a chain reaction when everyone involved is right in their
own mind? According to moral relativity every individual is the source of their own moral
authority....and who has the right to tell any other individual that he is wrong.......according to that
other individual s highest authority (his self), his behavior is right and morally just.
Beyond injuries inflicted to another person, moral relativism is even more absurd in less obvious
dilemmas. The story found on page 118 of American Vision and Values describes a moral relativist
parent who is raising her child without judgment. In

Why Is The Auschwitz Death Camp Essay
The Auschwitz Death Camp was a construction that lasted three whole years. A maximum amount
of effort was put into Auschwitz all so that the Jews could be exterminated.Auschwitz may have
only lasted for five years, but in the time it was there, thousands of Jews were killed.Although
Auschwitz was a thing of beauty for the Nazis, is was a sign of death for the Jews. These examples
will show how Auschwitz was a terror for the Jewish people around the world.
Many people were involved in Auschwitz, both Nazis and Jews. Over 1.1 million people were
murdered at Auschwitz, most Jews came from Hungary, 426,000 in total (Auschwitz USHMM).
Although Auschwitz was big it was headed by one person, SturmbannfГјhrer Karl Bischoff

many people making construction plans, but the Blueprint office was headed by HauptscharfГјhrer

The Problems with Statutory Rape Essay examples
Many issues have come up with the laws surrounding statutory rape. Although the laws are in
place to help people, many people see them as unfair and they believe that there are changes that
could be made to help improve these laws. A major problem with statutory rape laws is that each
state has a different law. To help improve statutory rapelaws, all states should work together to
have a set of country wide laws, so that the states all have the same laws. With a few minor
improvements, the statutory rape laws would be problem free. The statutory rape laws in the
United States are in place to protect adolescents from rape. The dictionary definition of statutory

The laws that pertain to statutory rape are put in place to protect minors. However, the laws
have caused ethical issues in many states. An issue that comes up frequently is if two people are
dating and one is eighteen and one is sixteen. In the 20th century, these relationships were not as
common as they are now. Today, these relationships are found in many high schools across the
country. It is not uncommon for a ninth grader and an eleventh or twelfth grader to be in a
relationship in this day and age. The problem with these relationships are that there is normally
at least a two year age gap, if not more. If the people in these relationships engage in sexual
activities, which would not be uncommon, it becomes a case of statutory rape. For example, if
a couple had been dating for many years, and one partner was three years older than the other. As
soon as the older person turned eighteen, if this couple had any sexual contact it would become a
crime.(Kempner) In society today, it would not be uncommon for a couple who had been together
for many years to be sexually active with each other. One would think that if it was a couple that
had been together for a long time and they were engaging in sexual activities that both people in
the relationship had both consented too that it would be okay, however, the law states it is not.

Roman Spectacles
Before taking this course, my perception of Roman spectacles was unfortunately heavily based
upon what I was told by my elders or what I saw in movies like Gladiator, Hercules and Pompeii.
Taking this course has been the biggest eye opener regarding the truth about what really
happened in Ancient Rome, specifically regarding spectacles. I also feel like I ve learned that I
should not just aimlessly believe what I am told or what I see in movies, because people clearly
lie about a lot of things and are inaccurate, yet because they are older or have a mass platform what
they say becomes the truth . One of the biggest misconceptions I learned from this class that I

How could Hollywood lie to me like that?! Films like Gladiator, Hercules and Pompeii all lead
me to believe that arenas contained things like animals, pits that warriors could fall into at
anytime, and even were able to house full armies fighting each other to the death, but instead the
reality was far different. Although there were venatores who hunted animals, in gladiatorial
combat animals were never used. They also generally fought in flat arenas, with no fancy things
like pits to fall into. Gladiatorial combat also typically only occurred man to man. Everything
shown in the movies is hyper exaggerated in comparison to what actually occurred because
Hollywood cares more about keeping the viewers interested, and dazzling them with wondrous
images of Ancient Rome, then being accurate. Even things like the armour many of the
gladiators wore was not accurately depicted. In the movies some of them were shirtless and did
not wear helmets, which was definitely not the reality because they generally always wore
helmets, armour and tunics. They would wear these things for protection because, contrary to the
movies, gladiators did not fight to the death. They were actually highly valuable for
entertainment, and cost a lot of money to train, so their lives mattered to the sponsors, therefore
it was rare that they were killed in combat. Finding out this information really has changed my
perspective on all movies regarding Ancient Rome, but specifically the ones that include
gladiatorial combat, because next time I see a new film I will be aware of what is real or fake and
this will force me to make others aware of these inaccuracies as

Onto the second part of the performance included Matthew Montfort playing the guitar, Abbos
Kosimov playing the doira, and Jesse Sheehan playing the saxophone. Throughout this part of the
performance I felt more astonished. I felt there was a lot more going on at this point compared to
the beginning. When the guitar was playing it sounded so gentle with a high pitch to it. The strings
produced a vibrating sound when pulled similar to the way the song Sleepwalk s pitch sounds
like. The sound was so soothing with the company of the doira and the saxophone all working
together to generate a heterophonic beat. Although all three were continued playing as well as
the singing, there was a mini saxophone solo that outstanded at one point because saxophone
solos always tend to stand out because of it s raspy and high or low pitch sounds. Specifically
this solo reminded me when I played a solo of a song this summer in Mexico. The reason it
reminded me of it was because it started with it swaying with squeaky pitch very well and taking
the lead by adding volume. Performing a solo can be extremely nerve wracking. As it goes on,
Montfort comes in with the guitar very gently slowly raising the volume up simultaneously rocking

Despite her dad s confession of her struggles, Sarah replies by asking Are you gonna tell me that
you re gonna dress up as a lady every day now? (Transparent, Season 1, Episode 2). While the
subsequent loving interaction between the father daughter duo showcases Sarah s support for her
dad s journey, Sarah s thought that transgender people simply want to dress up like a lady
showcases how she believes that transgender people s wishes are to cross dress and not be actually
a different gender. The conflict between Sarah s want to support her father s journey and her lack
of understanding of the transgender community helps to reflect that in society if people are not
aware of the transgender people s journey, then it will be difficult for even those with the best of
heart to help and be supportive of transgender people s plight. Through Soloway s highlighting of
the general lack of knowledge of how to accept transgender individuals in society, she is able to
advocate for change in society to be more accepting and raise awareness for the transgender people
s plight.
Sarah can be seen bravely standing up for her father s rights helps to showcase the importance of
raising awareness for the transgender community and the importance of being an ally for
transgender rights. During a shopping trip Maura s shopping trip with Sarah and Ali, the three of

Controversy Regarding Cannabis-Related Legislations in Canada
There is presently much controversy regarding Cannabis related legislations in Canada, as while
there is a great deal of individuals supporting conditions in the present, there are also numerous
people who are against contemporary laws. It is presently illegal to grow cannabis plants in
Canada, but the authorities allow cannabisto be consumed for medical purposes. Many people in
Canada believe that cannabis should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls
pointing toward the belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance
should not be illegal. Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that legalizing cannabis
would have, it is only safe to assume that the government should express more tolerance concerning
the substance, considering that more than half of Canada s population has expressed its support in
regard to the drug.
Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact that this
substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal is proof that the
authorities directly discriminate them on account of their substance orientation.
Canada has a history in debating the use of cannabis and the circumstances when it can be
beneficial for the consumer and for society as a whole. The Canadian federal government
encourages protection for ill Canadians with degenerative health diseases (Jacob 2009, 210). The

Objectives Of Six Sigma
SIX SIGMA:
Six Sigma means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. Six Sigma is a disciplined
and data driven approach or methodology for eliminating defects (driving towards six standard
deviations between the mean and the nearest specification limit) in any process , from
manufacturing to transactional and from product to service. The statistical representation of Six
Sigma describes quantitatively how a process is performing. To achieve Six Sigma, a process must
not produce more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A defect is defined as any process
output that does not meet customer specifications. The fundamental objective of the Six Sigma
methodology is the implementation of a measurement based strategy that focuses on process
improvement and variation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Six Sigma as a measurement standard in product variation can be traced back to the 1920 s when
Walter Shewhart showed that three sigma from the mean is the point where a process requires
correction. Many measurement standards (Cpk, Zero Defects, etc.) later came on the scene but
credit for coining the term Six Sigma goes to a Motorola engineer named Bill Smith. (Incidentally,
Six Sigma is a federally registered trademark of Motorola).
In the early and mid 1980s with Chairman Bob Galvin at the helm, Motorola engineers decided that
the traditional quality levels measuring defects in thousands of opportunities didn t provide enough
granularity. Instead, they wanted to measure the defects per million opportunities. Motorola
developed this new standard and created the methodology and needed cultural change associated
with it. Six Sigma helped Motorola realize powerful bottom line results in their organization in fact,
they documented more than $16 Billion in savings as a result of our Six Sigma

26 April, 2016 During the Protestant Reformation, there was one man who was in control of it all.
Born in Noyon, Picardy, France on July 10, 1509, Jon Calvin was known as the most important

spread of Protestantism and Christianity throughout Scotland, England and the Netherlands.
Although this might have been good for his reputation throughout the Christian community, he did

Essay about Ben Franklin
Ben Franklin
Ben Franklin is one of the most dynamic figures in the history of America. As a philosopher,

had been very lucky and that few efforts would reach fruition without some effects of luck. It is
interesting to see how at every turn Franklin had some sort of system or method laid out,
followed it step by step, and achieved the intended result. Many people today can think of what it
would take to be successful at something (say a sport or skill) but few know so thoroughly the
correct path to take and actually walk down it to its end. We observe this ability even in his

The sun had finally set behind the mountains, the sky turning into a bristling twilight encompassed
by dark blues purples and grays. They had known from a young age that the world was changing,
so sadly watching the world fall apart wasn t such bad thing to do. The fire had already
encompassed the majority of the city as they could see, and Mingyu took a long sip of his soda.
Wonwoo bursts out laughing at the noise of Mingyu drinking, therefore causing almost Mingyu to
choke on the liquid in his mouth. Mingyu looked at Wonwoo with furrowed eyebrows after
finishing his coughing fit. Why the hell are you laughing at me?
Wonwoo chuckled. It was like you were sipping on tea, amused by the fact entire city is on fire.
His eyes squinted in a happy matter, giving Wonwoo s normal resting bitch face a touch of
happiness.
You re so fucking depressing Woo, why the hell would I be amused by that? Mingyu set his drink
down, the corners of his lips slightly curving up. He may not have been amused by the burning city
but he was most definitely amused by Wonwoo s remarks. He felt so lucky to be next to his best
friend, making happy moments in the midst of an apocalypse.
I mean it looks pretty cool with the dark sky and the huge fire. I m thoroughly amused by it.
Especially by the fact we re not in the city burning with everything else. Mingyu looks at Wonwoo,
a smile tracing his lips. Wonwoo made

Self Love Is Vital For Living A Full Healthy Life
Self love is vital to living a full healthy life. It impacts who you fall in love with, how you present
yourself to the world, and how you cope with the certain problems you have in life. Insecurities
play a major role in ones self worth. Girls begin at a very young age forming these insecurities
around all aspects of their life. Earlier and earlier girls are comparing themselves to others on
how they should look like, creating images of unrealistic expectations of who they should be. I
know for my daughter who is 11 is already beginning to wonder why certain women look a
certain way. I am constantly reminding her of her own self worth to be for her and no one else.
More young women need to find their own voice, because the more self loveyou have for yourself,
the better prepared you are for life, and the relationships within your life. A lot can be gained from
finding self awareness for all aspects in your life, and from loving yourself comes trust for all
involved.
Whether that may be your parents, friends, or even more important your partner without trust is
something that is mandatory. Trust is something that will be the foundation in maintaining in
almost every relationship you will ever encounter. All relationships that people build are based on
trust on the other person s true intentions. Without trust, there would be no relationship at all.
(Masters) This statement literally says it all, trust is one of the things that every relationship starts
with, yet one

Sugar Cultivation During The Nineteenth Century Essay
In the British Caribbean during the seventeenth and eighteenth century, sugar cultivation came into
existence as the Europeans slowly moved away from the production of tobacco. This was done
for two main reasons; the first being, the Europeans saw how lucrative the production of the
sugarcane crop can be for them and secondly, it would have significantly reduced the cost of
sweeteners for both men and women of British descent. Honey, being the only substitution for
sugar at the time, was considered to be very expensive and as a result an alternative was needed. In
order for this production system to be fully adopted, the Europeans required a labour force that
could endure the hardships associated with toiling in the sugar plantation. This is where the
enslaved Africans were introduced. To the Europeans, Africans were considered to be much more
effective because in their view they were seen as having no soul. These Africans were taken from
the West African coast primarily around the Senegal River and Angola, (Campbell 1) placed upon
slave ships and brought into the Caribbeanto be sold to different estate owners or managers. From
then onwards, this was the introduction of slaveryand as such this essay would be based upon the
book entitled Beyond Massa. This book was written by John F. Campbell, a historian and current
History lecturer at the University of the West Indies, which is located at the St. Augustine Campus
in Trinidad. In addition to, Mr. Campbell also received

Jane Eyre
Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre emerges with a unique voice in the Victorian period for the work
posits itself as a sentimental novel; however, it deliberately becomes unable to fulfill the genre, and
then, it creates an altogether divergent novel that demonstrates its superiority by adding depth of
structure in narration and character portrayal. Joan D. Peters essay, Finding a Voice: Towards a
Woman s Discourse of Dialogue in the Narration of Jane Eyrepositions Gerard Genette s theory of
convergence, which is that the movement of the fiction towards a confluence of protagonist and
narrator, is limited as the argument does not fully flesh out the parodies that Charlotte Bronte
incorporates into her work. I will argue that in the novel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reed, which I cannot do: I should bless her son John, which is impossible. ... is not Mrs. Reed a
hard hearted, bad woman? She has been unkind to you, no doubt, because, you see, she dislikes
your cast of character, as Miss Scatcherd does mine; but how minutely you remember all she has
done and said to you! What a singularly deep impression her injustice seems to have made on
your heart! No ill usage so brands its record on my feelings. Would you not be happier if you tried
to forget her severity, together with the passionate emotions it excited? (69)
Helen communicates in an elegant restrained form to the protagonist that all of Jane s passion is
unvirtuous as this perspective lacks insight in contrast with Jane who impulsively voices contempt
to Helen for being deficient in natural passion. Her dialogue speaks of love and blessing that
should be returned to individuals that desire to harm her. She uses questions in this passage to
suggest her superior language skill set. Burns may quote the Bible, may hold in high regard Miss
Scatcherd and may espouse the stereotypical masculine traits of a novel, such as, well polished
diction, restraint of feeling, an emphasis on action, and a strong, seemingly objective, often directly
interposing, authorial narrative command (Peters 224), yet she loses her natural voice. Moreover,
Burns voice becomes stilted as it has discarded the poignant beauty of language in favor of

Reflection Of Blindness
An individual is not merely defined by the situations that they find themselves in, but rather how
they react during these tragic moments. The eminent novel, Blindness, by Jose Saramago, is an
iconic story that illustrates a country enduring a pandemic that causes the inhabitants to acquire
a type of blindness where they only see white. The unfortunate citizens who fall ill to the white
blindness find themselve quarantined in an abandoned mental hospital where havoc inevitably
ensues. A significant character that demonstrates the notion that you are defined by your
actions is the doctor s wife as she was originally a very timid and kind character who then
endured an atrocious situation and became very malicious. Whereas the girl with the dark
glasses is an individual who was first presented as extremely selfish but later developed into an
extremely selfless individual. To continue, the young boy was a character who valued his family
for the entire novel and found it very difficult to live without them, yet due to his circumstances,
he was able to adapt. The responses that the characters within Blindness by Jose Saramago have
when presented in the face of adversity is what truly defines those particular characters. It is
often through atrocious situations where individuals face a shift in their values and inevitably
discover a new aspect of themselves whether it be malice, selflessness or carelessness. The
deepest and darkest aspects of oneself often only shine through when an individual undergoes a
horrendous situation. During the commencement of the novel Blindness, the doctor s wife was
originally one of the kindest and caring characters that Saramago mentions. This notion is
evident when her husband the doctor was being taken away to be quarantined. During this
chapter, the doctor was being seized by military officials as he was struck with the white
blindness and needed to be quarantined. Although the doctor s wife was not blind she told the
military officials that she was also ill in order to stay by her husband s side. When the couple
arrived at the mental hospital, the doctor asked his wife why she risked falling ill to the atrocious
disease by going to the hospital. She calmly replied, my love... I m

The Between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With A Screen (...
The art world has been host to a vast menagerie of talent, intellect, and creativity for about as
long as human culture has existed. It has grown, developed, and changed just as humanity has.
Naturally, with such an impressively expansive history, various avenues of art are visited time
and time again by new artists. Artists seek not only to bring their own personal flavor and
meaning to timeless concepts, but to find new ways to approach them. While not every single
creator and craftsman can make such a great impact on art or the world, their efforts have given
birth to some truly magnificent and unique works. In an effort to create a more meaningful
understanding, as well a deeper appreciation, of the nuances, techniques, and design choices
employed in these attempts, a comparison will be made between Edouard Vuillard s Interior
With a Screen (1909 1910) and Henri Matisse s Blue Nude (Souvenir of Biskra) (1907). In this
essay, each artist s approach to the subject of the female nude will be closely analyzed,
compared, and contrasted, as will their styles of painting, handling of visual elements, and their
use of the principles of design. An interpretation of each work and what the artist intended when
creating it will also be provided. The analysis of these paintings will begin with Vuillard s oil
painting Interior With a Screen. This piece depicts a female nude placed in the interior a large and
furnished room; the woman appears to be slightly hunched over

Counter Piracy In Australia
On 23 February 2009, the Australian government announced the Inspector of Transport Security
would assess the current security arrangements covering Australian crews and ships and investigate
the impact, or potential impact, of piracy on Australian registered and international trading ships
including their crews and passengers.
A report was released on 22 April 2010. It provided a detailed overview of piracyat the global level
and then by region, actions taken by the international community including the despatch of naval
forces to counter piracy, and the impact of attacks on the global shipping industry and impacts on
Australian shipping and trade. Importantly, on this last point the report noted that the impact on

The Importance Of Living In A Small Town
Living in a small town is an enjoyable, yet bittersweet experience. I grew up in Winnemucca, one
of the smallest towns in Northern Nevada. The town is unknown to the majority of people who
reside out of its state. I can certainly say that my hometown has been influential on my upbringing.
However, my familyhas played and continues to influence me as a person. Though small,
Winnemucca and my family has undoubtedly had a huge impact on my growth and has made me
into the person I am today.
My family is small, yet incredibly loving and caring. Though my parents have struggled and
sacrificed, they have provided many things to my brother and me; they have always supported us.
For me specifically, this includes giving me the gift of having a buoyant childhood. My regular day,
in my childhood and throughout my teen years consisted of math problems, reading, writing, and
art projects, playing games with my brother outside, basketball, hiking, volunteering, and doing
activities typical small town offers. I will forever appreciate the environment I grew up in because it
taught me to appreciate the little things. I craved one thing though: adventure.
I am lucky enough to say I have had adventures with my family before. I have memories of my
family and I going on trips to islands, our ancestral home in India, and other foreign nations
/lands. Still, after all the journeys, I craved more. But as I grew up more, I concluded that if I am
with my family, I will always be happy. They are my

How Did The Homefront Experience During Ww2
The Home Front Experience The home front experience during World War II did not expand the
freedoms and opportunities available to Americans. The Japanese Americans were treated horribly
in camps. African American were being discriminated. After soldiers came back from the war, they
couldn t find jobs. Even though the women were working, while the men were fighting in the war,
they were being discriminated. To being with, the homefront experience during World War II did
not expand the freedoms and opportunities available to Americans because the Japanese Americans
were treated terribly and awfully in concentration camps. The Japanese Americans were sent to
camps because of the Executive order 9066, which was signed and issued by President Franklin D.
Roosevelt, made 100,000 Japanese American homes seized and imprisoned in internment camps.
These Japanese Americans couldn t protest or do anything about their situation because supreme
court ruled right could be denied only because America was in the middle of a war. Ted Nakashima

The Beer Is Not A New Thing
Beer is not a new thing. Alcoholic beverages date as far back as 10,000 B.C.E and Sumerians in
2000 B.C.E. had prepared recipes for eight different beer types, ranging from strong, red brown,
and good dark (Mauk, 2013). Breweries have created their own recipes, brewed their own beers
some with alcohol, some without and most recently there has been the craft beerexplosion. Perhaps
the Sumerian beer could be argued as the first craft beer. Over the past few years, craft beer has
been gaining steady market share from the national and international beer breweries, with a focus
on micro breweries and brew pubs (Murray O Neill, 2012). Separating one beer from the next is
the product itself, and what the product has to offer.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MBR line is destined, specifically, as a shopping product, or a consumer product less
frequently purchased that which is compared on suitability, quality, price and style (Armstrong
Kotler, 2015). The product line s benefit is that it fills the void for the non alcoholic drinker
looking for a great, craft beer taste without the unwanted alcohol. With the example of a craft
beer drinking woman who becomes pregnant or is now breastfeeding, she will not need to give
up drinking good tasting beer. She will be able to continue enjoying craft beer taste without the
worry of alcohol. However, this product line is not limited to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Others who may enjoy the MBR line is the elderly and those with liver issues. Generally, MBR
is for those who enjoy taste, not just the buzz of alcohol. MBR will start with six brews, one for
each season as well as two other flavors. Upon success, MBR will look to branch out to include
more flavors and tastes. As a means of separation from other beers, the names of the MBR beers
will be reminiscent of song titles. Descriptions and names of the original six flavors are as follows:
Porterville (Spring): a dark colored American Porter with tastes of honey and vanilla;
Lager Song (Summer): a light, summertime lager with a clean finish;
Blue Oktoberfest (Fall): a deep, flavorful Oktoberfest brew;
Twist and Stout (Winter): a dark, bitter stout;

Foreign Direct Investment By Multinational Corporations
Developing countries lag behind the rest of the world in many aspects of life including economy,
education, and welfare. Achieving progress in any of these three areas is important in getting these
countries on par or at least closer to the standard of living present in developed nations. Numerous
of hypotheses have been posed to tackle and address these issues. This paper examines the aspect of
improving the economy and whether or not foreign direct investmentby multinational corporations
would benefit developing countries. Some may argue, including the renowned artist Frida Kahlo
that foreign direct investments may actually lead to a decline in culture and exploitation. However,
this paper argues that the economy in developing countries could be significantly improved by
properly introducing foreign direct investment by multinational corporations. Foreign direct
investment (FDI) made by multinational corporations would spur the economy in developing
countries which in turn would lay the groundwork for improvements in other important aspects
including education and welfare without a decline in culture and exploitation of citizens.
Developing countries are stuck in a cycle of poverty that can t be broken from within the domestic
economy due to an insufficient supply of investment available in these countries to raise the
productivity and income levels of workers. The only way to break the cycle of poverty is through
investment from multinational corporations. FDI is an

  • 2. How Were The Ideological Foundations Of The 1790s French... Indentification and Evaluation of Sources This investigation will focus on the question of How were the ideological foundations of the 1790s French monarchy challenged by political Enlightenment philosophers and writers? The French monarchy was controlled by an authoritarian regime which created political and economic issues in its society of the 18th century. Montesquieu, John Locke, and Rousseau were political philosophers who successfully expressed their writings and ideas to the public who then were able to challenge the despotic influences that governed France. Due to the inclusion and close evaluation of these philosophers it was determined that Enlightenment and Utility: Bentham in French, Bentham in France by Emmanuelle De Champs and The Oxford History of the French Revolution by William Doyle are valuable sources to the investigation. Both sources state how these thinkers represented enlightenment in legal thought as well as the works of these writers and the influence these works had. This information should act as the focus of the investigation and aid in answering the question. Source A: The Oxford History of the French Revolution: Enlightened Opinion (44 66) The source includes a wide range of information written by the Chairman of the School of History, William Doyle. As a secondary source the book s origin is from the Oxford University Press as they published it in 1989. The author s purpose was to go through history of the French Revolution, starting ... • 4. Argumentative Essay On Maternity Leave While doing some research, I have learned that maternity leave has become quite an issue. In Virginia, we do not have a state law that specifically requires employers to offer pregnancy leave. Although, we do have the Human Rights Act that must provide some leave for those women who are disabled by pregnancy. Being disabled by pregnancy means that you can no longer do certain activities so that the mother can deliver safely and care for the newborn. In America, the U.S. has a policy, The Family and Medical leaveAct of 1993. It is mandating 12 weeks of unpaid leave annually. Unfortunately, only four states have paid maternity leave. The four states are California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. California and New Jersey gives you 6 weeks and Rhode Island gives you only 4 weeks. Research has shown that women in the United Statesare more likely to drop out of work force voluntarily due to lack of time with the infant and stress. After just looking at maternity leave in America, I decided to branch out and do other countries. I wanted to compare the difference between the two. Upon doing some research I... It is a dismal, depressing, sick picture of the state of man and of government that this film gives, and it it not very much alleviated by the fact that it is presented as a howling joke (page 442 paragraph 13). Cinema Vol 2: Kubrick s work reveals deeper evidence of the personal involvement which distinguishes the true auteur. His develpment has been remarkably consistent through an apparently heterogeneous range of projects, and each film s meaning becomes more confidently definable when one places it in relation to its fellows (page 561 paragraph 2). A number of Kubrick s movies before Strangelove are explicitly humanitarian , consciously dedicated to protest against inhumanity, and Strangelove itself has been read similarly (page 561 paragraph 3). The much more polished work of Dr. Strangelove which follows a strict scheme in which real time and cinematic time coincide, analysing an intricate network of interconnecting operations without recourse to doubling back perhaps indicates Kubrick s own retrospective dissatisfaction with the time scheme of The Killing ... • 9. Application Of Graphics And Design Application of graphics Backgrounds A good background should have a consistent colour scheme which is eye catching without being overpowering to your eyes. So depending on the style of site should use block colours this will give the website a sleek but simple look. But depending on the purpose of a site the background colours etc. can vary e.g. if a background was for a childrens sight it may be colourful or a car site may be a steely grey if it was intended to sell sports cars e.g. an Aston Martin. Backgrounds are a prevelant feature on websites and can be the block from which a website designer decides on what layout and colour schemes they use throughout the rest of the site. When deciding on a background a website designer must take into account the file size of the background image and maybe the quality of the background image as it may lead to longer load times and so the background should be properly optimised. For a background image the designer can use a raster image say if the background was the badge of a car or an image of a sports car. Raster images are good for displaying detailed images their quality is lost when they are zoomed in. This is an example of a bad website background: This is an example of an appealing background for a web site: Website graphics Website graphics such as logos or banners for sites should be eye catching and professional looking as they can make a business or site more memorable and thus may make the user more likely to come ... Moral Relativism and Problems Associated With this Philosophy Moral relativists believe that no one has the right to judge another individuals choice, decisions, or lifestyle because however they choose to live is right for them. In addition everyone has the right to their own moral beliefs and to impose those beliefs on another individual is wrong. At first glance moral relativismmay appear ideal in allowing for individual freedom. After all why shouldn t each individual be entitled to their own idea of moral values and why should others force their beliefs on anyone else. An issue that comes up frequently is if two people are dating and one is eighteen and one is sixteen. In the 20th century, these relationships were not as common as they are now. Today, these relationships are found in many high schools across the country. It is not uncommon for a ninth grader and an eleventh or twelfth grader to be in a relationship in this day and age. The problem with these relationships are that there is normally at least a two year age gap, if not more. For example, if a couple had been dating for many years, and one partner was three years older than the other. As soon as the older person turned eighteen, if this couple had any sexual contact it would become a crime.(Kempner) In society today, it would not be uncommon for a couple who had been together for many years to be sexually active with each other. I also feel like I ve learned that I should not just aimlessly believe what I am told or what I see in movies, because people clearly lie about a lot of things and are inaccurate, yet because they are older or have a mass platform what they say becomes the truth . How could Hollywood lie to me like that?! Films like Gladiator, Hercules and Pompeii all lead me to believe that arenas contained things like animals, pits that warriors could fall into at anytime, and even were able to house full armies fighting each other to the death, but instead the reality was far different. Although there were venatores who hunted animals, in gladiatorial combat animals were never used. They also generally fought in flat arenas, with no fancy things like pits to fall into. Gladiatorial combat also typically only occurred man to man. Everything shown in the movies is hyper exaggerated in comparison to what actually occurred because Hollywood cares more about keeping the viewers interested, and dazzling them with wondrous images of Ancient Rome, then being accurate. Even things like the armour many of the gladiators wore was not accurately depicted. In the movies some of them were shirtless and did not wear helmets, which was definitely not the reality because they generally always wore helmets, armour and tunics. They would wear these things for protection because, contrary to the movies, gladiators did not fight to the death. They were actually highly valuable for entertainment, and cost a lot of money to train, so their lives mattered to the sponsors, therefore it was rare that they were killed in combat. Finding out this information really has changed my perspective on all movies regarding Ancient Rome, but specifically the ones that include gladiatorial combat, because next time I see a new film I will be aware of what is real or fake and this will force me to make others aware of these inaccuracies as ... Throughout this part of the performance I felt more astonished. I felt there was a lot more going on at this point compared to the beginning. When the guitar was playing it sounded so gentle with a high pitch to it. The strings produced a vibrating sound when pulled similar to the way the song Sleepwalk s pitch sounds like. The sound was so soothing with the company of the doira and the saxophone all working together to generate a heterophonic beat. Although all three were continued playing as well as the singing, there was a mini saxophone solo that outstanded at one point because saxophone solos always tend to stand out because of it s raspy and high or low pitch sounds. Specifically this solo reminded me when I played a solo of a song this summer in Mexico. The reason it reminded me of it was because it started with it swaying with squeaky pitch very well and taking the lead by adding volume. Performing a solo can be extremely nerve wracking. As it goes on, Montfort comes in with the guitar very gently slowly raising the volume up simultaneously rocking his head. Later, you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people in Canada believe that cannabis should be legalized in the country, with some of the most recent polls pointing toward the belief that the majority of individuals in the country consider that the substance should not be illegal. Although it would be difficult to assess the effects that legalizing cannabis would have, it is only safe to assume that the government should express more tolerance concerning the substance, considering that more than half of Canada s population has expressed its support in regard to the drug. Individuals who consume cannabis for recreational purposes are certain that the fact that this substance is included in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as illegal is proof that the authorities directly discriminate them on account of their substance orientation. • 42. Wonwoo Alternate Ending The sky was a luscious mixture of oranges, pinks, and blues as the sun set beyond the city and behind the mountains. Smoke rose from the tall city, ashes of buildings and dead bodies rising into the air. You know, despite the fact the world is falling apart, it s still beautiful. Mingyu took a sip of his Mountain Dew, looking at the view before his eyes. Wonwoo nods, a deep hum ringing out in his throat. The two boys sat in a car parked in the parking lot of their old high school building, a way out from the city. The building sat up on a hill and it gave them the perfect view of the city. It impacts who you fall in love with, how you present yourself to the world, and how you cope with the certain problems you have in life. Insecurities play a major role in ones self worth. Girls begin at a very young age forming these insecurities around all aspects of their life. Earlier and earlier girls are comparing themselves to others on how they should look like, creating images of unrealistic expectations of who they should be. I know for my daughter who is 11 is already beginning to wonder why certain women look a certain way. I am constantly reminding her of her own self worth to be for her and no one else. More young women need to find their own voice, because the more self loveyou have for yourself, the better prepared you are for life, and the relationships within your life. A lot can be gained from finding self awareness for all aspects in your life, and from loving yourself comes trust for all involved. Whether that may be your parents, friends, or even more important your partner without trust is something that is mandatory. • 45. Sugar Cultivation During The Nineteenth Century Essay In the British Caribbean during the seventeenth and eighteenth century, sugar cultivation came into existence as the Europeans slowly moved away from the production of tobacco. This was done for two main reasons; the first being, the Europeans saw how lucrative the production of the sugarcane crop can be for them and secondly, it would have significantly reduced the cost of sweeteners for both men and women of British descent. Honey, being the only substitution for sugar at the time, was considered to be very expensive and as a result an alternative was needed. In order for this production system to be fully adopted, the Europeans required a labour force that could endure the hardships associated with toiling in the sugar plantation. This is where the enslaved Africans were introduced. To the Europeans, Africans were considered to be much more effective because in their view they were seen as having no soul. These Africans were taken from the West African coast primarily around the Senegal River and Angola, (Campbell 1) placed upon slave ships and brought into the Caribbeanto be sold to different estate owners or managers. From then onwards, this was the introduction of slaveryand as such this essay would be based upon the book entitled Beyond Massa. This book was written by John F. Campbell, a historian and current History lecturer at the University of the West Indies, which is located at the St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad. In addition to, Mr. Campbell also received ... • 47. Reflection Of Blindness An individual is not merely defined by the situations that they find themselves in, but rather how they react during these tragic moments. The eminent novel, Blindness, by Jose Saramago, is an iconic story that illustrates a country enduring a pandemic that causes the inhabitants to acquire a type of blindness where they only see white. The unfortunate citizens who fall ill to the white blindness find themselve quarantined in an abandoned mental hospital where havoc inevitably ensues. A significant character that demonstrates the notion that you are defined by your actions is the doctor s wife as she was originally a very timid and kind character who then endured an atrocious situation and became very malicious. Whereas the girl with the dark glasses is an individual who was first presented as extremely selfish but later developed into an extremely selfless individual. To continue, the young boy was a character who valued his family for the entire novel and found it very difficult to live without them, yet due to his circumstances, he was able to adapt. The responses that the characters within Blindness by Jose Saramago have when presented in the face of adversity is what truly defines those particular characters. It is often through atrocious situations where individuals face a shift in their values and inevitably discover a new aspect of themselves whether it be malice, selflessness or carelessness. The deepest and darkest aspects of oneself often only shine through when an individual undergoes a horrendous situation. During the commencement of the novel Blindness, the doctor s wife was originally one of the kindest and caring characters that Saramago mentions. This notion is evident when her husband the doctor was being taken away to be quarantined. During this chapter, the doctor was being seized by military officials as he was struck with the white blindness and needed to be quarantined. Although the doctor s wife was not blind she told the military officials that she was also ill in order to stay by her husband s side. When the couple arrived at the mental hospital, the doctor asked his wife why she risked falling ill to the atrocious disease by going to the hospital. She calmly replied, my love... I m ... • 49. The Between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With A Screen (... The art world has been host to a vast menagerie of talent, intellect, and creativity for about as long as human culture has existed. It has grown, developed, and changed just as humanity has. Naturally, with such an impressively expansive history, various avenues of art are visited time and time again by new artists. Artists seek not only to bring their own personal flavor and meaning to timeless concepts, but to find new ways to approach them. While not every single creator and craftsman can make such a great impact on art or the world, their efforts have given birth to some truly magnificent and unique works. In an effort to create a more meaningful understanding, as well a deeper appreciation, of the nuances, techniques, and design choices employed in these attempts, a comparison will be made between Edouard Vuillard s Interior With a Screen (1909 1910) and Henri Matisse s Blue Nude (Souvenir of Biskra) (1907). In this essay, each artist s approach to the subject of the female nude will be closely analyzed, compared, and contrasted, as will their styles of painting, handling of visual elements, and their use of the principles of design. An interpretation of each work and what the artist intended when creating it will also be provided. The analysis of these paintings will begin with Vuillard s oil painting Interior With a Screen. However, my familyhas played and continues to influence me as a person. Though my parents have struggled and sacrificed, they have provided many things to my brother and me; they have always supported us. For me specifically, this includes giving me the gift of having a buoyant childhood. My regular day, in my childhood and throughout my teen years consisted of math problems, reading, writing, and art projects, playing games with my brother outside, basketball, hiking, volunteering, and doing activities typical small town offers. Numerous of hypotheses have been posed to tackle and address these issues.
