Essay about Symbols and Symbolism in The House of the...
Symbolism in The House of the Seven Gables
American literature reflects life and the struggles faced during existence. Symbols are an eloquent way
for an author to create a more fully developed work of art. The stories themselves tell a tale; however,
an author also uses symbols to relay his message in a more subtle manner. Nathaniel Hawthorne was
one of the earliest authors to use symbols as an integral part of his plots. This is clearly seen in both
The Scarlet Letter and in The House of the Seven Gables. The use of symbols causes an association
psychology to enter into the story, making it more intriguing.1 In Nathaniel Hawthorne s romance The
House of the Seven Gables, symbolism is used eloquently to enhance the story ... Show more content

The house is an old wooden building that is rotting away but still is a good enough quality to
withstand some of the test of time.
The house is referred to as a prison by Hawthorne; he calls Hepzibah and Clifford inmates. The house
is a prison because it prevents the inhabitants from truly enjoying any freedom. The inmates attempt
an escape from their prison twice. Initially, as Phoebe and Clifford watch the parade of life in the
street, Clifford realizes that his life has become meaningless, and he cannot help but try to join the
masses below. This could mean the only way for Clifford to become truly reunited with mankind is
through death. Unfortunately, Clifford fails to win his freedom and returns to the solace of his prison.
The second attempt at escape is by Clifford and Hepzibah. They attempt to escape the clutches of the
house, but, alas, it is too late for them. The house has affected them too much to stay away. This is
apparent when Hepzibah and her brother made themselves ready as ready as they could in the best of
their old fashioned garments, which had hung on pegs, or had been laid away in trunks, so long that
the dampness and mouldy smell of the past was on them made themselves ready in their faded
bettermost, to go to church. They descended the staircase together...pulled open the front door, and
stepped across the threshold, and felt, both of them, as if they were standing in the presence of the

Asian South East Asia Nation Or Better Known As Asean
1.1 What is ASEAN?
Today, there are many countries that establish organisations among themselves in order to protect their
interest and gain benefits. One of the best examples of organisation form by nations would be the
European Union (EU). It is an organisation that was formed by several European nations in order to
attain economic stability, avoid conflicts as well as for political coalition. Another would be the Asian
South East Asia Nation or better known as ASEAN. ASEAN is an organization that represents most of
the countries that is located in the South East Asian region. It started as the Association of Southeast
Asia (ASA) in 1961 by Malaysia (known as Malaya before 1963), Philippines and Thailand. It became
ASEAN in 1967 after Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia signed the ASEAN

in the region as according to Sheila Smith, former Council of Foreign Relations officer (Bennett,
Ginsberg, Xu). As time grows however, ASEAN becomes more important to the region and now, it
consists of 10 nation state members from the South East Asia region.
ASEAN cannot be understood as a normal international organisation. In fact, there are many
definitions that can be given about ASEAN to begin with. Kivimaki (2012:405) had given a very

How Does Walt Disney Affect Society
Walt Disney effected most Americans, weather during his lifetime or after. He engaged audiences of
all ages with his creations. The public adored Mickey Mouse debut in 1928s Steamboat Willie. Walt
continued off this sensational hit with Silly Symphonies in 1929. Silly Symphonies does no only
feature Mickey, but Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. He also took part in World War II
by making cartoons. One of these cartoons was Der Fuehrer s Face, where we see Donald Duck dream
of being in a world controlled by Nazis. He starts off his day by saying Hail Hitler and eating a less
than adequate breakfast then going to work in a heavily guarded factory. Der Fuehrer s Face won the
Academy Award for Best Animated Short Subject in 1943. Mr. Disney also created training films for
the army. One of these training films is Stop that Tank! Where it demonstrates how to use the Anti
Tank Rifle in an amusing fashion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and the Seven Dwarfs. It was a humongous success, winning eight Oscars despite the dilemma the
country was in. Five years after Snow White s premiere he release four more classical films which

The Importance Of Dress Codes
Throughout the years the debate over school dress has been a hot topic, while dress codes are nothing
new, they have been a growing issue that past few decades. According to Laura Birkett on the Toronto
Star, For as long as there have been teenagers, there have been adults aghast at their habits... often
expressed by their wardrobe ( Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes pose to have no actual
effect on students in today s world. Birkett also explained that with dress code or without it kids will
do what they want and will still, most likely, grow up to me respectable adults in the working class (
Students Protest Dress Codes IN7). Dress codes have been proven unnecessary and therefore, have no
positive benefits on students.
Dress codes are also sending the wrong message to students about body shaming. Donna George for
the Washington Post reveals that, at a School in Maryland a young girl was called out for her leggings
which were said to be a distraction by the young girls teacher. School administrators are shown
supporting the body shaming of students when the mother of the young girl, Eboni Banks filed a civil
right complaint confirming that, Administrators are being allowed to discriminate and engage in body
shaming behaviors (George). The fact that school district employees are being given the right to
determine if a girl s clothes are too distracting or not makes the girl being victimized feel as if she s
doing something wrong and should be ashamed of

Human Trafficking Through A Feminist Theoretical Perspective
Human Trafficking Through a Feminist Theoretical Perspective
Feminist Theory
It s unfortunate that when some people hear the term feminism, they automatically place that as a
negative word and it becomes something they don t want to be associated with. It is unfortunate that
people will try to avoid it however, people will still embrace the feminist politics. As feminist scholar
Susan A. Mann (2012) describes, when people refuse to identify as a feminist they create the I m not a
feminist but syndrome. This refers to when people understand the importance of struggles with gender
issues, such that include the wage gap or domestic violence, but they will still reject the notion that it
may actually mean they are a feminist if they are fighting for that cause. Feminism has a simple
definition, it means that women seek gender equality through political, social, and economic gain.
Feminist theory is directed to the understanding of women s lives, struggles, and how we can improve
those areas of struggles for women. Theory has become a significant part to the feminist community,
because it gives feminists the opportunity to discuss the issues in a manner where they feel liberated,
and could service as a healing function (bell hooks, 1994).

humans of their rights and are subjected to endure physical, mental, emotional, and/or

Why Is Porphyria s Suicide Under Temporary Insanity
The Insanity Behind Love: A Case About Temporary Insanity
There has been many court cases where a mentally ill individual commits a killing without the notion
of harming their victim because, they lacked the perception to think logically when they re found
under overwhelming emotion. The poem Porphyria s Lover, by Robert Browning describes the crime
scene where the narrator felt compelled to kill his mistress named Porphyria in spite of her
demonstration of affection and care. Yet, there is enough evidence to illustrate that the suspect was
actually under temporary insanity since he revealed signs of emotional distress concerning his place
with Porphyria. The narrator in Porphyria s lover is not guilty by the plea of temporary insanity; he

Essay on The American Hero
The American Hero
Every child has fantasy s of being a super hero and leaping tall buildings in a single bound or staring
death in the face everyday and somehow finding a way to escape. All of these imaginative thoughts
have been derived from the past literary works by the great writers of the early American literary
period. These early writers entered society into a world of action and adventure, where one can see
spectacular events unfolding through the eyes of a notorious man of courage and feel as though they
are defending there country or saving the woman they love. Though the modern heroes are much more
popular than classic American heroes, the modern hero has rooted from these same literary works ...

In The Deerslayer, Natty is seen as and idealized youth. Natty is later seen wondering through the
forest and lonely waters and is confronted by hunters, Indians, and the hostile Europeans ; (Groliers

the readers to enter a world where they could relive the Revolutionary War, Indian wars, and battles on
the frontier.
After The Deer Slayer, Natty Bumppo is seen in The Last of the Mohicans. In this novel, Natty is

History Of Slavery In African Americans
African American veneration of elders did not begin in the new world but was transported by slave
ships from Africa during the Middle Passage. Despite the many Africans who chose to acclimate to

have focused on family, along with the emphasis on both children and elders in the African American

included fictive kin and has played a crucial role in the African American community as a response to
racism, according to Sudarkasa (1996). During slavery in the

Cigarette Smoking Persuasive Speech
Cigarette smoking is one of the biggest habits in the world at present. More than 16 million people

(Novartis Foundation,2009) Cigarette smoking is a detrimental habit which leads to Cancer, heart

that of life long non smokers throughout middle and old age. (Novartis Foundation,2009) In other

How to Reduce the Amount of Chemicals and Toxins Found in...
For the first assignment in our contemporary chemistry class, Professor Johana Doe presented us with
a question. Give or take a few words, she wanted to know what chemistry meant to each of us. Many
of our classmates, including myself, responded to the proposed question with a not so surprising
response. We each reasoned that chemistry meant little or nothing to our lives or us. I always looked at
chemistry as a very annoying class that I took in high school that involved beakers and the periodic
table of elements. I can now say with the utmost certainty after taking this class that chemistry means
much more to me than nothing. Throughout this course I have come to realize that chemistry takes

It is my intention to educate my readers about what chemicals are found in the home, why they are so
dangerous, and how we can work to limit the amount of these chemicals. In order to ultimately lessen
the amount of toxins and chemicals in our homes that affect our everyday lives, we must first know
what chemicals are in our homes and why they are so dangerous. According to the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, only a fraction of the more than 75,000 registered chemicals have gone through
complete testing for human health concerns (reduce.org). The Consumer Protection Agency estimates
that 150 chemicals found in the home are connected to allergies, birth defects, cancer and
psychological disorders. In our laundry rooms, for instance, we can find some of these solutions.
These solutions include laundry detergent, all purpose cleaners, and bleach. Laundry detergent for
instance contains cationic, anionic or non ionic solutions. These solutions, if swallowed, can cause
nausea, vomiting, shock, convulsions and coma (Young). For all of those who think to themselves,

Analysis Of The Poem Adrienne Rich
Women had little resources to escape an unhappy or abusive marriage during the nineteen fifties. Most
just learned to deal with it behind their closed doors in silence. During this time the divorce rate,
according to an article published in 1973 by the National Center for Health Statistics , was at twenty
five percent. (Plateris). Most women did not have the luxury of getting one due to the fact that most
husbands of that time had control of the household finances, not to mention that it was a costly
venture. Some marriages struggled with spousal abuse as well; be it emotional or physical yet
domestic violence at this time was something that people really did not talk about, nor were there the
resources for victims that we have today. In this haunting poem, Adrienne Rich uses symbolism to
paint a picture of a scared, and lonely woman as she creates this tapestry of Tigers being hunted, in a
colorful landscape, while she is pondering her relationship between her and her spouse.
The author starts the poem in a quiet manner with the character Aunt Jennifer sitting peaceably
weaving a tapestry of majestic Tigers being hunted. With bright colors in the first stanza, Bright topaz
denizens of a world of green, (line 2) Topaz is a gem that has a wide color range that includes brown,
blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink and purple but the definition of it states that a true Topaz is

The Truth About Stories By Thomas King
In the book, the Truth About Stories, Thomas King sheds light on the power of stories. King explicitly
enforces that one must take caution in the way he or she tells a story, since it will shape one s
thoughts, decision making and future (2). Through the use of literature, King weaves his way through
native history, anecdote by anecdote, informing his readers about the importance of storytelling.
Stories are wondrous things, the author writes. And they are dangerous. (9). To prove this, King
mentions two creation stories; the differences in these stories is the way in which they are told. The
first is a famous native story called, the woman who fell from the sky ; this story is told in a complex,
persuasive way (10 20). This story discusses a society emphasizing the value of cooperation as the
animals work together to create a better world (21 22). The second story, a Judeo Christian biblical
story, describes a Western Capitalist society. It is told in a historical, punitive and direct fashion,
underlining a society of boundaries and punishment. King highlights that storytelling is not just simply
telling a story, rather it is how the stories are told. King uses these particular stories to show how
different stories shape people s perspectives, which impacts their ideas, thoughts and decision making.
Therefore he addresses how sensitive storytelling may be, for once a story is told, it can never be
taken back (10). This is true in all realms of life, cautioning

A Study on a Boy with Sickle Cell Anemia
In Des Moines, Iowa a 16 year old boy by the name of Isaiah Newsome suffers from a debilitating
genetic disorder called sickle cell anemia which affects mostly African Americans in the United
States. Everyday Isaiah manages his pain daily by dipping into a bag of pills; blood transfusions are
done every three weeks to replace the dead or misshaped cells, and for his weakened bones he has a
procedure called an infusion every two months. Sickle cell anemia is a disorder that affects the red
blood cell (RBC) causing it to appear under developed in a sickle shape. The shape of the sickle cell
impedes on the ability of the hemoglobin (Hgb) to attach on to the RBC which deprives starving
tissues and organs in rich oxygenated blood (Jackson, 2014). Some recent advancements in bone
marrow transplant has proven to cure some cases of sickle cell disease but because of the risk involved
with the procedure, approval to use bone marrow transplant widely has not been implemented
(NHLBI 2009). By understanding sickle cell disease and increase funding for research is imperative to
move forward aiding the improvements of management and treatments for sickle cell disease (SCD)
with a goal of finding a cure for sickle cell. In 1910 Dr. James B. Herrick published a paper
identifying an abnormal shape of RBCs. He took care of a young dental student by the name of Walter

Constantine Stanislavsky Research Paper
Since the early 20th century and the theories of Constantine Stanislavsky, people have been taking his
work and molding, rewording or expanding on to make it more in their image or easier to understand.
Not unlike the quote of John of Salisbury (1159):
We are like dwarfs sitting on the shoulders of giants. We see more, and things that are more distant,
than they did, not because our sight is superior or because we are taller than they, but because they
raise us up, and by their great stature add to ours.
According to Brestoff (1995), even Stanislavsky refined and rewrote his theories up until his death. I
have contended that not all systems will work for all actors in a given situation. Each of the methods
might work for an actor at a given time. I think of them like tools, if I have to loosen a nut a socket,
box or adjustable wrench will all get the work done, but one might work better in a given situation.

Heredity and Hormones Effect on Behavior Essay
Human behavior has been a mystery to scientists and psychologists for years. What causes humans to
act the way they do? Is it learned by experience, or inherited from prior generations? The human brain
is a complex machine driven by numerous intangibles that influence our thinking process directly and
indirectly.
The endocrine system in the human body stores a chemical known as hormones. Hormones are
released by endocrine glands into the bloodstream and travel throughout the body carrying messages.
A hormonal impulse is similar to a nerve impulse only much slower. The messages carried by the
hormones trigger different behaviors. Hormones can affect behavior in many ways such as: Mental
activity or tiredness, boredom or excitement, sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both glands produce two distinct hormones, but produce differing amounts of each hormone.
Masculine hormones such as androgens and testosterone are predominately produced by male testes.
These hormones at high levels can be related to aggressive behavior regardless of sex, but high levels
are most commonly found in males. High levels of feminine hormones or estrogen, most commonly
found in females, have recently been linked to aggressive behavior as well. While high levels of
estrogen in females and high levels of testosterone in males have been linked to aggressive behavior,
normal levels of these hormones have been known to cause aggression as well. Although these
hormones have been related to human behavior, scientists have concluded that these hormones alone
do not dictate behavior (Morris Maisto, 2005).
Adrenal glands, located near the kidneys, secrete several hormones that are activated by the nervous
system. These hormones dictate the body s reaction to stressful situations. Each person secretes a
different amount of hormones, therefore affecting behavior in stressful situations differently (Morris
Maisto, 2005).
Behavior is party affected by human hormones present in the body built from genetic traits inherited
from the individual s parents. The genetic makeup of an individual combined with a certain
environment, can affect behavior. Genetics is the science of analyzing traits inherited through
generations. These traits are determined by genes that

Executive Summary
Transportation Problem involves distribution of a certain commodity from several origins to a number
of destinations. The aim in the whole process is to minimize the costs involved.
A necessary condition for the solving of the transportation problem is that the problem must be
balanced, i.e the demand for the product at the destinations must equal the capacity of the suppliers.

CHECKING THE OPERATING COSTS FOR LOS ANGELES
Using Solver amp; Excel, when we solve the Transportation problem for the supply from Oil Wells to
the refineries, we get the following Optimal Solution. The Minimum cost is $ 880 Million.
Now, we look at the minimum operating costs incurred when we ship the petroleum from the Oil
Refineries to the Distribution Centres.
Following is the solution:
The Cost incurred after shipping the petroleum to the Distribution Centres is $1570 Million. So, the
minimum cost that Texago Corporation will have to incur when they set up their refinery at Los
Angeles will be 880+1570 i.e. $2450 Million.
OPERATING COSTS FOR GALVESTON
Now, for Galveston the Shipping Costs for transporting Oil from Wells to the Refinery will be $920
Million, as solved in Excel.
Now the Minimum Shipping Costs that will be incurred when transporting Petroleum from Galveston
to the Distribution Centres turns out to be $1630 Million.
The Total Cost that has to be incurred will be $2550 Million.
CALCULATING THE SHIPPING COSTS FOR St. LOUIS
Again, the Shipping Costs will have to be calculated for transporting Oil from various Oil Wells to the
refineries. The Minimum Cost this time is $920

Sleep Deprivation: A Bane to Men, Women and Children alike It was 12:30 am in the morning and
Israel Joubert and his family was driving home after a family reunion. Joubert had hoped to get to his
workplace on time at 8 am in the town of Fort Worth. However in the midst of his driving, Joubert fell
asleep at the wheel resulting in a crash of the family s Chevy Suburban into the rear of a parked 18
wheeler. Although one of his sons and he had survived, his wife and five kids were killed. (Fryer) In
the article titled Sleep Deprivation and Sleep Deficiency , Sleep Deprivation is defined as a condition
that occurs if you don t get enough sleep . The fact of the matter is, sleep deprivation manipulates
millions of people who are ignorant about the adverse effects of sleep deprivations to do devastating
harm to not only themselves but others that they might deeply love. Due to the adverse physiological
effects to humans, sleep deprivation will continue to undermine human society by taking advantage of
sleep deprived humans. Therefore, it is essential to inform the public about measures to prevent and
treat sleep deprivation. In order to understand the effects of sleep deprivation, one must first
understand how the body makes does one go to sleep. First off, the human body is built with an
internal body clock which controls when one is awake and when one s body is ready to go for sleep.

Parasites In The Stories Of Franz Kafka
Franz Kafka was born to a middle class Jewish family that was plagued with tragedy because of the
Nazi s reign of terror during World War II. Living during this extremely parasitic period in history, the
theme would become the basis throughout the stories of Kafka. A parasite is defined by The Merriam
Webster Dictionary as something that resembles a biological parasite in dependence on something else
for existence or support without making a useful or adequate return. When reading the definition of
parasite, one who has read any one of Kafka s stories could most likely attribute parasitism as a central
theme in the stories.
Kafka had a very difficult relationship with his parents, more so his father than his mother. His father
had an authoritative personality that often controlled the Kafka home. His father had an impact on the
characters traits in his [Kafka s] writing. That being said, his characters usually had overbearing
power. These individuals, or sometimes parasites, could break the will of men and destroy their sense
of self worth. His mother was a stay at home mother who did not have the intellectual experience to
understand her son s dreams of becoming a writer. She was a parasite to Kafka himself. His family
was the major theme generator in his writings. He used his family and events in his early life to
establish a rather unknown theme of parasites in his writings. Franz Kafka had, metaphorically
speaking, parasites ruling his life. His father was a parasite

When Athens Met Jerusalem Summary
When Athens Met Jerusalem by John Mark Reynolds is a 266 page book that discusses the idea that
religion and philosophy need each other. The book asserts that it is a mistake to think that the
Christian religion (Jerusalem) does not need Philosophy (Athens) and vice versa. The author states,
Christians must recapture the middle way of Augustine and Chrysostom. Athens and Jerusalem are not
two cities, but two districts in one city: the city of God... Christians must act quickly, for Athens and
Jerusalem are dying and each needs the other to thrive (19, 20). The book is broken up into eleven
chapters with a Preface, Introduction and a Reading List. The reading list contains both primary works
and secondary ones. For the most part the author

Christian Persecution
Christian Persecution Christians are being persecuted for their faith in more than the forty nations
around world today. In some nations, it is illegal to own a Bible, to share one s faith in Christ, and
even teach one s children about Jesus Christ. Those who boldly follow Christ, in spite of government
decree or opposition, can face harassment, arrest, torture and even death. Dr. Nhia Vang Vang, the
pastor of the First Hmong Alliance Church in Longview, NC, mentioned that Christianity has been
persecuted for over 2000 years up until now. However, more Christians have been arrested, harassed,
and persecuted in this century than in the previous nineteen combined (Vang). Christian persecution is

Pastor Bike (Pastor Zhang Mingxuan) is a missionary who travels across China on a bicycle to spread
the news of Jesus Christ. He was arrested by the Chinese officials on August 6, 2008; just two days
after the Olympics began. ( Olympic ). Mingxuan was tortured and interrogated in prison countless
times. However, regardless of the harassment by the Chinese officials, Pastor Bike continued to win
several lives for Jesus Christ. The numbers of Christian martyrs are increasing by the year, yet
Christians continue to meet for worship and the church in restricted nations are still growing. People
who are willing to sacrifice everything, including their lives, for the sake of spreading the gospel
throughout the world are given the name Jesus Freaks. Many Christians are abused and harassed by
officials or mobs who attempt to force Christians to renounce their faith. In Chiapas, Mexico, a
Christian family was attacked by a mob; killing Pedro, his wife and his son. Six of the other children
were left seriously wounded. ( Christian ). There are many more cases such as these occurring even
now. The list of Christian persecution is endless; several people suffer much more due to their faith.

Delivery Of Punishment In Australia
Delivery of Punishment
Jordan T. Sharp
Charles Sturt University
Word Count:
Australia s colonial beginnings can be described as a penal settlement where our population grew due
to the result of the punishment of offenders through transportation from England and Ireland. Australia
early penal settlements are described as brutal places for most convicts, for many. Transportation was
less onerous than the life of a pauper in the British Isles. In the early nineteenth century there was a
potential deterrent effect of an uncertain voyage and an indeterminate fate that had been tempered by
the system of assignment, tickets of leave and emancipation. However the authorities in England
believed this system gave to much liberty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Were a man is sent to compulsory labour in the colonies he may become a reformed man but this
would usually only occur by an accident not a design. The chief interest of those for whom he
laboured was to get work out of him, not to amend his morals. (Hirst, 1983) However when NSW
settlement was established in the wake of the American revolutionary war, which had stopped the
practise of transporting British convicts to the different American colonies. There was a decision made
to send convicts to NSW which disappointed Bentham as he had seen the interruption to transportation
in 1776 as an opportunity for penal reform. With intellectual opinion turning against transportation

Hearts And Minds Documentary Analysis
The documentary Hearts and Minds was interesting and eye opening for me as it was the first in depth
visual of the Vietnam Era and of the war itself. After watching the movie, and thinking about it
without the initial emotional impact, I realized a few things that the director was trying to prove to the
audience. Generally, I thought that the film was biased towards one side. It showed almost no pro war
people except the POW and a few politicians. However, the framing the director used made them look
like fanatics or cold hearted racists. Granted, the human pain they showed on both sides was real and
could not have been exaggerated. It was eye opening to see just how wrong the U.S. was to enter into
Vietnam. The documentary made it seem like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

saw it. However, I also feel that there would be individuals who would refuse to believe that that was

get across the needless violence that occurred during the war, however, the film was not very accurate
in the portrayal of every event that they filmed and then incorporated into the documentary. From the
little knowledge that I have of the Vietnam War, even I noticed discrepancies and moments when the
director did not fully explain the situation and left a wrong impression for the audience. Without

Helping Make Hair Loss History

Merck needs to develop a marketing strategy to launch its new hair loss product, Propecia®. The
strategy should determine the target segment, product positioning, and the most effective marketing
mix.
Issues and Analysis
The Food and Drug Administration s restrictions on direct to consumer (DTC) advertising restricts
content and type of advertising. The FDA allows only three types of advertising for prescription drugs:
brand name, indication or both. A key decision for Merck is which type of advertisement to use. A
product claim ad can mention both the brand name of the drug and the problem it will correct, but it

media because they make up the largest percentage of the market.
Merck s marketing mix should focus on a message to encourage consumers to seek treatment early
because the product shows the best results and is most useful to consumers in the early stages of
MPHL.
Merck needs to employ DTC advertising with Product claim advertisements because Merck needs to
create awareness and generate demand for Propecia® and encourage consumers to ask their doctors
for a prescription.
Merck needs to differentiate Propecia® by positioning it as the hair loss product that is easier to use
and more effective than other hair loss products. Emphasizing its ease of use and effectiveness will
attract new consumers to the hair loss market and those customers currently using other hair loss
remedies.
Merck should provide primary detailing support for Propecia® because physicians need accurate and
detailed information before prescribing a drug. Merck should use informative brochures in doctor s
offices to communicate to doctors and patients that risk of use is minimal and side effects usually

The Effects of Traumatic Brain Injury Essay
I. Introduction The focus of this study was to examine the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in
children and adolescents on prospective memory. The purpose of the study was to add to the scant
research on the effects of TBI on prospective memory in children and adolescents. The authors were
also interested in adding support to the existing theory that the prefrontal areas of the brain meditate
prospective memory. (Ward et al., 2005) The authors were, for the purposes of this study, assuming
that the brain s prefrontal regions are involved in prospective memory. The authors theorized that

accuracies were higher in low demand cognitive conditions than in the high conditions. Overall, those
with TBI had lower overall prospective memory scores than the participants in the control groups. In
addition to this, adolescents performed better than the children. However, as the cognitive demand of

important factor is the daily Killer Whale presentations. The first SeaWorld park opened on March 21,

In the film Blackfish (2013), former and present SeaWorld trainers, SeaWorld representatives, and
people who have experienced SeaWorld are interviewed and tell about their stories and thoughts on

The Study Of Human Psychology Essay
Introduction
The study of human psychology comprises many elements to best understand human behaviour,
through theoretical perspectives on aspects including behavioural, cognitive and personality
psychology (Caponecchia, 2012). In the modern era, psychology has been recognised as one of the
foundations during learning, with individuals having different abilities and learning rates, it is
essential that tutors teach considering the individual differences students possess (Nezhad and Vahedi,
2011). Instructors have been shown to teach in their own preferred learning method, which may not
necessarily be the most appropriate style for the students. This creates loss of motivation in the
students and lower learning rates (Gailbraith and Saunders, 1987). Potentially, this is due to learners
preferring to learn within their comfort zone whilst utilizing their dominant learning style (Partridge,
1983). Teachers need to be aware of the different teaching methods out there and have an
understanding of them for ongoing refinement and success (Vaughn and Baker, 2001). There is also an
importance in recognising individuals not just for their abilities but also for their personalities and
motivation (Entwistle, 2013). Similarly, whilst undertaking any sort of leadership role, it is just as
important to be self aware of your own traits including emotions, goals and identity, in order to create
positive relationships and maintain sustainable performance (Avolio and Gardner, 2005).

Reflection Paper On Becoming A Nurse
What I m Looking Forward To
My goal in life is to continue my education towards becoming a labor and delivery nurse. As an
elementary aged little girl, I d sway back and forth on what I wanted to be when I grew up. One day, I
wanted to be a firefighter and the next day I d decided that I wanted to be a sign language interpreter,
which were both my parent s professions. Anything to be like mom and dad! I ran around the house
with my fisher price stethoscope and first aid kit and asked if I could check up on anyone and
everyone. Nowadays, when I think of who a nurse would be, it is exactly what fits my personality. A
calming, comforting friend to whomever they are around. I am passionate about helping people, and
love the health aspect of the medical field. Growing up, I was heavily influenced by nurses in my
family who talked highly of their profession. Their lifestyles of working and having families of their
own at the same time could be achieved. Flexibility in schedules, comradery in the workplace and
comfortable attire were surface level perks as I began my research into this career. When my grandpa
got admitted into the hospital this fall after a heart attack however, my idea of why I wanted to go into
this profession shifted. Emotions were flooding and at an all time high as I quickly wanted to help in
any way possible. I felt helpless and was so grateful for the nurse who stayed by his side aiding him in

Essay on Issues of Tempo and Mode in Evolution
There are many ways to explain how Earth and everything else came to be. Such as,
Uniformitarianism, Catastrophism, Gradualism, and Punctuated Equilibrium. Generally,
Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism are grouped together while Punctuated Equilibrium and
Gradualism are grouped together separately from Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism. Gradualism
and Punctuated Equilibrium are usually looked at through a biblical stand point rather than how
Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism are looked at from the opposite view.
The theory of Uniformitarianism states that everything happens gradually and what we see now in the
present time, took many years to become this way. It also has a natural law that says that what was
happening before is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whewell was a scholar from the University of Cambridge. He used it to help explain evolution since
at the time evolution was supported by Noah s Ark. Since, Noah s Ark was used as an explanation for
mass extinction. There is also Catastrophism in this group and its explanation is that some of Earths
features and events like mountains, valleys, floods, and mass extinctions were caused by very
dramatic and harmful events. How it relates to Uniformitarianism is that Uniformitarianism is slow
gradual changes like erosion, and can cause catastrophic events later on. Such as, glaciers melting, and
forming tsunamis and floods, killing off species catastrophically. They are also much related because
they relate to the idea of cause and effect. They are also basically anti creationist and agree that many
events have to happen over long periods of time not in all just one moment. However, there is also
gradualism and punctuated equilibrium to support the creationist side. Gradualism and punctuated
equilibrium explain how species go through evolutionary change. Gradualism is belief that changes
occur, or ought to occur, slowly in the form of gradual steps, another topic related to gradualism is
incrementalism. Gradualism supports how species go through evolutionary changes over short and
longer periods of time. Gradualism is also very popular in politics, it is one of the defining features in
conservatism and reformism,

Examples Of Racism In The Passing Of Grandison
The famous author Chesnutt presents The Passing of Grandison to demonstrate that racism destroys
the intelligence of southern white men. He does this to express his conception of the negativity
revolved around racism. Chesnutt s novella The Sheriffs Children relates to The Passing of Grandison
by presenting a southern white man having a mixed child and the lack of education for most racist
southern white men. Chesnutt presents racism in The Sheriffs Children by exhibiting the quickness of
the town to lynch the black man for supposedly murdering a respected white citizen. Chesnutt also
presents racism in The Passing of Grandison by demonstrating the master s degrading acts towards
Grandison by surmising his caliber of education as nonexistent. He utilizes these two examples to
emphasize racism clouding the southern white men s intelligence. Chesnutt also presents sex between
slave owners and slaves in both short stories as degrading because of the white slave owners view of
slaves as property. Chesnutt demonstrates the shamefulness of raping a slave to reveal primitive
forcefulness of sex and lack of respect the southern white men had for African Americans. Chesnutt
reveals the hatred it would take for a father to sell his own child. Chesnutt presents these events to
reveal a southern white slave owners action as negative because the injustice the African Americans
went through. Chesnutt presents all images and examples of racism to reveal the face of adversity for

Adolescence Is A Form Of Social Rejection
Adolescence is a period of clear gains in intelligence and cognitive skills and one of intense emotions
and impulsive behavior (Johnson de Haan, 2015). We experience a higher sensitivity to rejection
during this time and place great importance of peer relationships (Masten et al., 2009). Frequent
experiences of social rejection have been linked with lasting somatic, psychosomatic, and
internalizing disorders (Wolke Lereya, 2015), such as depression and anxiety (Rigby, 2000; as cited in
Masten et al., 2009). Educators and researchers alike have attempted to intervene in hopes of reducing
antisocial behaviors like bullying, a form of social rejection. In this paper, I will (1) go over what
adolescence is and broad developmental changes during this period; (2) affective causes of social
rejection; (3) some effects of social rejection during adolescence; and lastly (4) some concluding
statements and future directions.
Adolescence and broad changes during this period
According to Crone and Dahl (2011), adolescence is a transition phase between childhood and
adulthood. They, and many other researchers (e.g, Arnett, 2015), do not believe that the beginning and
end have clear cut boundaries. Somewhat helpfully, a general range of adolescence has been agreed
upon in the literature and is between the ages of 9 and 19; this uses the onset of pubertal maturation as
a marker. Johnson and de Haan (2015) and others have remarked that it is a time that involves a

Consumer Decision Making Process
1.0 Introduction This piece of work is about consumer behavior on electric vehicle which included the
five stages of consumer decision making process such as Need Recognition, Information Search,
Evaluation on Alternative, Purchase Decision, and Post purchase decision. Lastly, the five different
concepts which made up by social cultural factors and individual factors. 2.0 Five Stages of Consumer
Decision Making Process 2.1 Need Recognition A problem is recognized when consumer found out a
difference between the actual state and a desired state (Consumer Behave, 2011). For instance, Joel, a
salesperson, recognized that his car is due to maintenance and cost of fuel is getting higher. The price
of RON97 petrol increased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, green marketer should position the EV as an environmental friendly and how it could
benefit the consumer and environment or position it in terms of quality, price and place. 3.2 Designing
Persuasive Message The message is the thought, idea, attitude, image, or other information that the
sender wishes to convey to the intended audience (Schiffman amp; Kanuk, 2010). Consumer may be
attracted by the message due to it is simple and straight forward. They wish to gain some information
through the message instead of looking at the image (Perner, 2008). Moreover, through the verbal and
nonverbal form, it can tell the consumer about the benefit of the car. Thus, the advertisement must be
written extensively on clear, and easy to understand data communication. For instance, the benefit of
purchasing an EV, low operation cost, zero emission, and the distance it can travel compared with
others (Autoblog, 2011). Refer to appendix 1.0 3.3 Product Positioning Product positioning is the
consumer perception of a product compared to its competition (Lake, 2011). Consumer may affected
by the product positioning while making decision due to they will compare the technology, price,
features, benefits, etc with other type of vehicle. Besides, this concept will help consumer to determine
the differences of the product (Ries amp;Trout, 2011). Thus, marketer has to effectively differentiate
the EV compared with others and stress on the

The Study Of Popular Culture
The study of popular culture is useful in many ways. To specify, this course has reached its three
intended main ideas: what it means to be an American, how to be consumption conscious, and how to
apply these studies in our own lives. Jim Cullen puts this in a less specific sense, arguing that the
study of popular culture can afford valuable clues about collective fears, hopes, and debates (Cullen,
The Art of Democracy, 2). We study these clues to understand the world around us, as well as why we
do what we do as Americans and as humans. I will be touching on themes that relate to this quotation
by Cullen, escapism, exploitation, and globalization, and how these themes relate to the course goals.

These illustrated novels gained popularity during World War II. Comic book writers would incorporate
real world concerns into their work, proposing ideas of how a post World War America should
function. For example, in one story, Superman crushes a plot by wealthy American financiers working
for a foreign power to manipulate the stock exchange and plunge the nation into another depression
(Comic Book Nation, 12). In this case, the writers are appealing to a worried nation that jumps into a
story where superheroes put greedy corporations to rest, and the nation is stable. Escapism also
manifested itself in the Beatlemania craze. In a highly sexualized society ... teen and preteen girls
were expected to be not only good and pure but to be the enforcers of purity within their teen society
... To abandon control to scream, faint, dash about in mobs was, in form if not in conscious intent, to
protest the sexual repressiveness, the rigid double standard of female teen culture. It was the first and
most dramatic uprising of women s sexual revolution (Beatlemania, 85). Young girls are seeking an
escape from a critical society that expects them to be pure and perfect, when in reality, that is too
much of a standard for a teenager to uphold. Some psychologists at the time of the craze even believed
that girls

  • 2. Essay about Symbols and Symbolism in The House of the... Symbolism in The House of the Seven Gables American literature reflects life and the struggles faced during existence. Symbols are an eloquent way for an author to create a more fully developed work of art. The stories themselves tell a tale; however, an author also uses symbols to relay his message in a more subtle manner. Nathaniel Hawthorne was one of the earliest authors to use symbols as an integral part of his plots. This is clearly seen in both The Scarlet Letter and in The House of the Seven Gables. The use of symbols causes an association psychology to enter into the story, making it more intriguing.1 In Nathaniel Hawthorne s romance The House of the Seven Gables, symbolism is used eloquently to enhance the story ... The house is referred to as a prison by Hawthorne; he calls Hepzibah and Clifford inmates. The house is a prison because it prevents the inhabitants from truly enjoying any freedom. The inmates attempt an escape from their prison twice. Initially, as Phoebe and Clifford watch the parade of life in the street, Clifford realizes that his life has become meaningless, and he cannot help but try to join the masses below. This could mean the only way for Clifford to become truly reunited with mankind is through death. Unfortunately, Clifford fails to win his freedom and returns to the solace of his prison. The second attempt at escape is by Clifford and Hepzibah. They attempt to escape the clutches of the house, but, alas, it is too late for them. The house has affected them too much to stay away. This is apparent when Hepzibah and her brother made themselves ready as ready as they could in the best of their old fashioned garments, which had hung on pegs, or had been laid away in trunks, so long that the dampness and mouldy smell of the past was on them made themselves ready in their faded bettermost, to go to church. Human Trafficking Through A Feminist Theoretical Perspective Human Trafficking Through a Feminist Theoretical Perspective Feminist Theory It s unfortunate that when some people hear the term feminism, they automatically place that as a negative word and it becomes something they don t want to be associated with. It is unfortunate that people will try to avoid it however, people will still embrace the feminist politics. As feminist scholar Susan A. Mann (2012) describes, when people refuse to identify as a feminist they create the I m not a feminist but syndrome. This refers to when people understand the importance of struggles with gender issues, such that include the wage gap or domestic violence, but they will still reject the notion that it may actually mean they are a feminist if they are fighting for that cause. Feminism has a simple definition, it means that women seek gender equality through political, social, and economic gain. Feminist theory is directed to the understanding of women s lives, struggles, and how we can improve those areas of struggles for women. Theory has become a significant part to the feminist community, because it gives feminists the opportunity to discuss the issues in a manner where they feel liberated, and could service as a healing function (bell hooks, 1994). • 16. Analysis Of The Poem Adrienne Rich Women had little resources to escape an unhappy or abusive marriage during the nineteen fifties. Most just learned to deal with it behind their closed doors in silence. During this time the divorce rate, according to an article published in 1973 by the National Center for Health Statistics , was at twenty five percent. (Plateris). Most women did not have the luxury of getting one due to the fact that most husbands of that time had control of the household finances, not to mention that it was a costly venture. Some marriages struggled with spousal abuse as well; be it emotional or physical yet domestic violence at this time was something that people really did not talk about, nor were there the resources for victims that we have today. In this haunting poem, Adrienne Rich uses symbolism to paint a picture of a scared, and lonely woman as she creates this tapestry of Tigers being hunted, in a colorful landscape, while she is pondering her relationship between her and her spouse. The author starts the poem in a quiet manner with the character Aunt Jennifer sitting peaceably weaving a tapestry of majestic Tigers being hunted. • 17. The Truth About Stories By Thomas King In the book, the Truth About Stories, Thomas King sheds light on the power of stories. King explicitly enforces that one must take caution in the way he or she tells a story, since it will shape one s thoughts, decision making and future (2). Through the use of literature, King weaves his way through native history, anecdote by anecdote, informing his readers about the importance of storytelling. Stories are wondrous things, the author writes. And they are dangerous. (9). To prove this, King mentions two creation stories; the differences in these stories is the way in which they are told. The first is a famous native story called, the woman who fell from the sky ; this story is told in a complex, persuasive way (10 20). This story discusses a society emphasizing the value of cooperation as the animals work together to create a better world (21 22). The second story, a Judeo Christian biblical story, describes a Western Capitalist society. It is told in a historical, punitive and direct fashion, underlining a society of boundaries and punishment. King highlights that storytelling is not just simply telling a story, rather it is how the stories are told. King uses these particular stories to show how different stories shape people s perspectives, which impacts their ideas, thoughts and decision making. Therefore he addresses how sensitive storytelling may be, for once a story is told, it can never be taken back (10). This is true in all realms of life, cautioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We see more, and things that are more distant, than they did, not because our sight is superior or because we are taller than they, but because they raise us up, and by their great stature add to ours. Is it learned by experience, or inherited from prior generations? The human brain is a complex machine driven by numerous intangibles that influence our thinking process directly and indirectly. The endocrine system in the human body stores a chemical known as hormones. Hormones are released by endocrine glands into the bloodstream and travel throughout the body carrying messages. A hormonal impulse is similar to a nerve impulse only much slower. The messages carried by the hormones trigger different behaviors. Hormones can affect behavior in many ways such as: Mental activity or tiredness, boredom or excitement, sexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both glands produce two distinct hormones, but produce differing amounts of each hormone. Masculine hormones such as androgens and testosterone are predominately produced by male testes. These hormones at high levels can be related to aggressive behavior regardless of sex, but high levels are most commonly found in males. High levels of feminine hormones or estrogen, most commonly found in females, have recently been linked to aggressive behavior as well. While high levels of estrogen in females and high levels of testosterone in males have been linked to aggressive behavior, normal levels of these hormones have been known to cause aggression as well. Although these hormones have been related to human behavior, scientists have concluded that these hormones alone do not dictate behavior (Morris Maisto, 2005). Adrenal glands, located near the kidneys, secrete several hormones that are activated by the nervous system. These hormones dictate the body s reaction to stressful situations. Each person secretes a different amount of hormones, therefore affecting behavior in stressful situations differently (Morris Maisto, 2005). Living during this extremely parasitic period in history, the theme would become the basis throughout the stories of Kafka. A parasite is defined by The Merriam Webster Dictionary as something that resembles a biological parasite in dependence on something else for existence or support without making a useful or adequate return. When reading the definition of parasite, one who has read any one of Kafka s stories could most likely attribute parasitism as a central theme in the stories. Kafka had a very difficult relationship with his parents, more so his father than his mother. His father had an authoritative personality that often controlled the Kafka home. His father had an impact on the characters traits in his [Kafka s] writing. That being said, his characters usually had overbearing power. These individuals, or sometimes parasites, could break the will of men and destroy their sense of self worth. His mother was a stay at home mother who did not have the intellectual experience to understand her son s dreams of becoming a writer. She was a parasite to Kafka himself. • 39. The Study Of Human Psychology Essay Introduction The study of human psychology comprises many elements to best understand human behaviour, through theoretical perspectives on aspects including behavioural, cognitive and personality psychology (Caponecchia, 2012). In the modern era, psychology has been recognised as one of the foundations during learning, with individuals having different abilities and learning rates, it is essential that tutors teach considering the individual differences students possess (Nezhad and Vahedi, 2011). Instructors have been shown to teach in their own preferred learning method, which may not necessarily be the most appropriate style for the students. This creates loss of motivation in the students and lower learning rates (Gailbraith and Saunders, 1987). Potentially, this is due to learners preferring to learn within their comfort zone whilst utilizing their dominant learning style (Partridge, 1983). Teachers need to be aware of the different teaching methods out there and have an understanding of them for ongoing refinement and success (Vaughn and Baker, 2001). There is also an importance in recognising individuals not just for their abilities but also for their personalities and motivation (Entwistle, 2013). Similarly, whilst undertaking any sort of leadership role, it is just as important to be self aware of your own traits including emotions, goals and identity, in order to create positive relationships and maintain sustainable performance (Avolio and Gardner, 2005). Such as, Uniformitarianism, Catastrophism, Gradualism, and Punctuated Equilibrium. Generally, Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism are grouped together while Punctuated Equilibrium and Gradualism are grouped together separately from Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism. Gradualism and Punctuated Equilibrium are usually looked at through a biblical stand point rather than how Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism are looked at from the opposite view. The theory of Uniformitarianism states that everything happens gradually and what we see now in the present time, took many years to become this way. It also has a natural law that says that what was happening before is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whewell was a scholar from the University of Cambridge. He used it to help explain evolution since at the time evolution was supported by Noah s Ark. Since, Noah s Ark was used as an explanation for mass extinction. There is also Catastrophism in this group and its explanation is that some of Earths features and events like mountains, valleys, floods, and mass extinctions were caused by very dramatic and harmful events. How it relates to Uniformitarianism is that Uniformitarianism is slow gradual changes like erosion, and can cause catastrophic events later on. Such as, glaciers melting, and forming tsunamis and floods, killing off species catastrophically. They are also much related because they relate to the idea of cause and effect. They are also basically anti creationist and agree that many events have to happen over long periods of time not in all just one moment. However, there is also gradualism and punctuated equilibrium to support the creationist side. Gradualism and punctuated equilibrium explain how species go through evolutionary change. Gradualism is belief that changes occur, or ought to occur, slowly in the form of gradual steps, another topic related to gradualism is incrementalism. Gradualism supports how species go through evolutionary changes over short and longer periods of time. Gradualism is also very popular in politics, it is one of the defining features in conservatism and reformism, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Examples Of Racism In The Passing Of Grandison The famous author Chesnutt presents The Passing of Grandison to demonstrate that racism destroys the intelligence of southern white men. He does this to express his conception of the negativity revolved around racism. Chesnutt s novella The Sheriffs Children relates to The Passing of Grandison by presenting a southern white man having a mixed child and the lack of education for most racist southern white men. Chesnutt presents racism in The Sheriffs Children by exhibiting the quickness of the town to lynch the black man for supposedly murdering a respected white citizen. Chesnutt also presents racism in The Passing of Grandison by demonstrating the master s degrading acts towards Grandison by surmising his caliber of education as nonexistent. He utilizes these two examples to emphasize racism clouding the southern white men s intelligence. Chesnutt also presents sex between slave owners and slaves in both short stories as degrading because of the white slave owners view of slaves as property. Chesnutt demonstrates the shamefulness of raping a slave to reveal primitive forcefulness of sex and lack of respect the southern white men had for African Americans. Chesnutt reveals the hatred it would take for a father to sell his own child. Chesnutt presents these events to reveal a southern white slave owners action as negative because the injustice the African Americans went through. • 44. Adolescence Is A Form Of Social Rejection Adolescence is a period of clear gains in intelligence and cognitive skills and one of intense emotions and impulsive behavior (Johnson de Haan, 2015). We experience a higher sensitivity to rejection during this time and place great importance of peer relationships (Masten et al., 2009). Frequent experiences of social rejection have been linked with lasting somatic, psychosomatic, and internalizing disorders (Wolke Lereya, 2015), such as depression and anxiety (Rigby, 2000; as cited in Masten et al., 2009). Educators and researchers alike have attempted to intervene in hopes of reducing antisocial behaviors like bullying, a form of social rejection. In this paper, I will (1) go over what adolescence is and broad developmental changes during this period; (2) affective causes of social rejection; (3) some effects of social rejection during adolescence; and lastly (4) some concluding statements and future directions. Adolescence and broad changes during this period According to Crone and Dahl (2011), adolescence is a transition phase between childhood and adulthood. They, and many other researchers (e.g, Arnett, 2015), do not believe that the beginning and end have clear cut boundaries. Somewhat helpfully, a general range of adolescence has been agreed upon in the literature and is between the ages of 9 and 19; this uses the onset of pubertal maturation as a marker. Johnson and de Haan (2015) and others have remarked that it is a time that involves a significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, green marketer should position the EV as an environmental friendly and how it could benefit the consumer and environment or position it in terms of quality, price and place. 3.2 Designing Persuasive Message The message is the thought, idea, attitude, image, or other information that the sender wishes to convey to the intended audience (Schiffman amp; Kanuk, 2010). Consumer may be attracted by the message due to it is simple and straight forward. They wish to gain some information through the message instead of looking at the image (Perner, 2008). Moreover, through the verbal and nonverbal form, it can tell the consumer about the benefit of the car. Thus, the advertisement must be written extensively on clear, and easy to understand data communication. For instance, the benefit of purchasing an EV, low operation cost, zero emission, and the distance it can travel compared with others (Autoblog, 2011). Refer to appendix 1.0 3.3 Product Positioning Product positioning is the consumer perception of a product compared to its competition (Lake, 2011). Consumer may affected by the product positioning while making decision due to they will compare the technology, price, features, benefits, etc with other type of vehicle. • 46. The Study Of Popular Culture The study of popular culture is useful in many ways. To specify, this course has reached its three intended main ideas: what it means to be an American, how to be consumption conscious, and how to apply these studies in our own lives. Jim Cullen puts this in a less specific sense, arguing that the study of popular culture can afford valuable clues about collective fears, hopes, and debates (Cullen, The Art of Democracy, 2). We study these clues to understand the world around us, as well as why we do what we do as Americans and as humans. I will be touching on themes that relate to this quotation by Cullen, escapism, exploitation, and globalization, and how these themes relate to the course goals. For most of the twentieth century, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These illustrated novels gained popularity during World War II. Comic book writers would incorporate real world concerns into their work, proposing ideas of how a post World War America should function. For example, in one story, Superman crushes a plot by wealthy American financiers working for a foreign power to manipulate the stock exchange and plunge the nation into another depression (Comic Book Nation, 12). In this case, the writers are appealing to a worried nation that jumps into a story where superheroes put greedy corporations to rest, and the nation is stable. Escapism also manifested itself in the Beatlemania craze. In a highly sexualized society ... teen and preteen girls were expected to be not only good and pure but to be the enforcers of purity within their teen society ... To abandon control to scream, faint, dash about in mobs was, in form if not in conscious intent, to protest the sexual repressiveness, the rigid double standard of female teen culture. It was the first and most dramatic uprising of women s sexual revolution (Beatlemania, 85). Young girls are seeking an escape from a critical society that expects them to be pure and perfect, when in reality, that is too much of a standard for a teenager to uphold. Some psychologists at the time of the craze even believed that girls ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
