Zindal Kordan Analysis
Nineteen year old Zindal Kordan stood at the window on the 409th floor of the unfinished Pax
City Capitol Building and surveyed the rebuilding efforts going on far below. Over three weeks
ago, he killed Henry Cavanaugh, the leader of the Naturalist Rebellion that had caused this
bloody civil war Zin had fought in for almost a year now, on this alien planet so far from Earth
where Zindal had grown up, but what he had come to call home. He hoped his actions, as brazen
and dirty as they were, would come to fruition, but he knew how dangerous it was to hope. After
his decline into depravity (was that what the shrinks had called it? He couldn t remember), he was
escorted back to Pax City by two armed guards, though his brother Io assured... Show more content

He tried to call out to Io, tried to beg him for help, but he couldn t. Strings of words wove
themselves together above his head, but refused to make any sense. Someone stripped him;
someone else stuck something to his forehead and chest, arms and legs. A dot of pain in his
hand felt like an IV. Io stepped into view, motionless in the flutter of movements around Zindal.
When Zindal met his eyes, he was surprised to find sorrow there, actual sorrow. He said nothing.
The group of people lifted Zin from the table and lowered him into a narrow container. They
pulled a door over the top of it was it a coffin? Were they burying him alive? Panic burned in his
stomach but light still made its way to his unresponsive eyes. Again, he tried to move, and again,
he failed. Something started to churn beneath him. The temperature dropped until he could see
his breath. A thick, freezing liquid pumped out of the holes in the walls surrounding him. It
inched higher, sending goosebumps down his arms. He was going to drown. The realization
sprung tears from his eyes, and again, he looked for Io. The liquid covered his legs and chest,
inched its way up to his ears, seeped into his mouth and nose. He held his breath for as long as he
could, but soon, he was forced to inhale. To his surprise and relief, he could

Endangered Animals
The world is facing many serious issues in this day and time. One of the major one is endangered
species. These organisms are living on the edge of extinction. There are many things that threaten
these species like loss of habitat, lack of food, hunting and many more. The victim of this
horrendous crime against living organisms is the fastest running mammal called Cheetah,
scientifically known as Acinonyx jubatus .
Cheetahs are true carnivores which means they depend on meat for survival. They use high speed
to easily hunt their prey. Primary diet of cheetah consists of springbok, ostriches, impala, deer,
gazelles, warthogs, birds, hares, young zebras etc. These animals tend to target younglings because
of the greater rate of success. And while hunting these species like to stalk their prey for 10 50m
and then start sprinting towards it. During this time frame, their bodies are under immense strain
and pressure as a result their body temperature rises to its highest.
These mammals live in the dry grasslands of sub Saharan Africa, and in eastern and southern parks.
Some can also be found in southern Algeria, northern Niger and Iran. Today Namibia has the
largest population of cheetahs living in Africa. It is very hard to believe that these species use to
roam around nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but now they are driven out of 91% of its
historic range. These animals are nearly extinct in Asia, only around 50 of these individual are
living in isolated areas of

Barbie Doll By Marge Piercy
Today s society raises young women to conform to archaic practices with total disregard towards a
child self progression. In Barbie Doll poem by Marge Piercy it is portrayed a young girl who was
attacked by society because of having unruly features on her appearance and body. To make
clear, Piercy uses the title Barbie Doll in her poem to symbolize the cultural American traditions
of making young girls live in a fairy tale world; where everything they see or do is perfect. The girl
in this poem played with Barbie toys since she was little, but when she reached her puberty
people started to criticize her of having imperfections on her face and body; which made her
commit a really wrong decision for herself. In today s society there are a large number of women
having plastic surgery, because they do not feel comfortable or confident with their own
appearances. Women are not just beauty queens and home makers; they should retreat from female
stereotypes at a young age so they do not confront society pressure.
Barbie s toys purpose of entertaining young girls is sarcastic, because the underlying theme
behind them is destructive; since female stereotypes make the girls think they are as perfectly
beautiful as the Barbie. In the beginning of the poem the author states various items that any
young girl would have such as, dolls that imitated live children, dolls that did pee pee , mini stoves
and irons to keep clothes neat, and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy , the

Questions On The Protocol Architecture
Assignment 1
2.3Protocol:
A protocol is predefined set of rules or conventions which governs the way in which two entities co
ordinately cooperate to exchange data.
2.4Protocol Data Unit(PDU):
A PDU is the combination of data from the next higher communications layer and control
information.
2.5 Protocol Architecture:

Chicago Manual Style Essay
Based on the CMS paper sample on page 84 of the text, I would say that a few of the differences
between Chicago Manual Style and MLA format are the use of a title page, the use of marginal
annotations, and the format of the citations. While MLA format is typically used for people writing
in the humanities fields, Chicago Manual Style is mainly written in the history field. In this sample,
a title page is used. In MLA format a title page is not required, though, it can sometimes be included
if requested. MLA format included in text citations, not marginal annotations. Lastly, the citation
format of the CMS format is unique, making some citations very long and some very short.
When comparing the CMS format in the paper to my knowledge of the APA format, I feel that the
differences are mostly found in the way that the citations are formatted. To start off, APA format,
as discussed in previous forums, is mainly used in the social science fields. In the CMS paper, the
specific page range from which the writer got their information from is given, while in the book s

As seen in the sample paper, the use of numbered citations allows reader to focus in on the actual
content of the paper, and avoids the constant reuse of the source creator s last name and page
number. While this is similar to the CSE format, the CMS format differs from CSE by not directing
their writing towards a very specific audience. The CSE sample paper used very high level diction,
which implied that they expected their readers to already have an idea of what the paper s topic
was about. The CMS sample paper uses more lower level diction, which allows for a broader
audience to be able to read and understand the content of the paper. I feel like the less focused
audience range and the strong analysis of the CSE sample paper is its biggest

Essay about Natural Disasters
Natural Disasters
This being my senior project I wanted to look at a topic that I found interesting. Even though I find
most topics in the fields interesting, none catch my attention better than natural disasters. I have
always found disasters intriguing and have wanted to know more about them. The disaster that I
found most interesting were Hurricanes. The thought of those storms with their power gives me the
chills. Ever since I was in the middle of Hurricane Bob when I was vacationing with my family
off the coast of Virginia and we were asked by the state police to evacuate our house, I wanted to
learn more about hurricanes.
Since that I have been able to take classes that enabled me to learn more about hurricanes. That is
why I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main reason that I have decided to research this part of the world and not look at the rest of
the world is I live in this part of the United States and have been part of one of these storms. Also
the data was much easier to research. Most people think of the Atlantic when they think of
hurricanes.
The first priority is to find out what exactly a hurricane is. A hurricane comes from the West Indian
word hurricane, meaning quot;big wind quot; (New
Orleans, weather). A hurricane forms in the tropics around warm water. It starts as a
disorganized storm in the ocean. When it starts to become more organized, it will be put into the
first of three classifications. The classification is tropical depression. The National Hurricane
Center will get a letter to help classify the storm. When the winds of the storm reach 40mph it
will go into the second classification, tropical depression. The service will give it a name at this
point. The name is pre determined based on a list that recycles every six years. The list of names
for the next few years are on figure one. A name will only not appear on the list if it is retired.
Finally, if the storm s wind reach
70mph, it would be classified as a hurricane. The quot;eye quot; of the hurricane is the center of the
storm. This area of the storm is calm with no clouds. Around the eye the storm goes

12 Angry Men Trial Essay
I am writing to tell you about my conclusion of whether justice was served on the Twelve Angry
Men trial, in which the jurors presented a verdict of not guilty . I believe that the verdict could
be wrong, and that reopening the case with a retrial would be the best course of action possible.
To remind you about the case, a sixteen year old boy was accused of fatally stabbing his father
with a switch knife. The witnesses were an old man who lived underneath the room where the
murder took place, and a woman across the street with a window right opposite the kid s. The old
man claimed to have heard loud noises (that sounded like a fight) upstairs at approximately 12:10
and later heard the kid shout I m going to kill you . Shortly afterwards,... Show more content on

As a few of the jurors pointed out, the boy had lived in the slum. His mother had died when he
was nine, and he had spent a year and a half in an orphanage due to fact that his father was
serving a jail term at the time. The boy would regularly be beat by his father ever since he was
five, and had been hit several times before storming out of the house on the night of the murder.
In the nurture aspect of the nature or nurture theory, he may have been negatively affected by his
harsh environment, as his record shows. The boy had been in Children s Court when he was ten
for throwing a rock at his teacher, attended Reform School when he was fourteen, stole a car was
arrested for mugging, and was picked up twice for trying to wound another teenager with a knife.
This may have been caused by the series of unfortunate events experienced by the kid, but that
should not excuse his violent behavior or murderous tendencies , as worded by a psychologist who
had tested the child. With a blemished record like this, it does not seem impossible for the boy to
have committed a murder; after all, he had seriously attempted to injure other people multiple

What Is The Purpose Of Neville Chamberlain s Persuasive...
Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain structures his 1938 statement to Parliament as a persuasive
speech. A persuasive speech tugs at the listeners heart strings and urges them to do or believe in
something or someone. In this case, the purpose of Chamberlain s speech was to persuade
Parliament of the importance of accepting the Munich Agreement. Chamberlain truly believed he
was doing the right thing for the people of England by signing the Munich Agreement, along with
Germany, Italy and France. But if only he had realised what the future held for England, and the
entire world, as WWII followed not long after. Chamberlain is credible because he s a Prime
Minister, so he is clearly an expert on the subject. He uses evidence and reason as well,

The Number Of Gay Bars And Clubs
The number of gay bars and clubs increased in number throughout the 1970s. However, as the
number of businesses geared towards LGBT individuals increased they also migrated. The area
that they settled around in the 1990s is located is called Lakeview East; Lakeview East, West Lake
View, and Wrigglyville are the three smaller communities that make up the larger Lakeview
neighborhood. More specifically, the businesses were clustered around Clark Street and Halsted
Street. In 1997 Chicago s Mayor, Richard M. Daley, officially recognized the area as a gay
neighborhood. This area, now known as Boystown, was the first gay neighborhood in the
United States of America to be officially recognized by the government. The same year city
planners under the direction of the Mayor s office devised a plan to create a streetscape that
marked North Halsted Street as being a gay neighborhood. This project was in line with similar
projects in ethnic neighborhoods. For instance, the metal Puerto Rican flag sculptures in Humbolt
Park that were mentioned above were created as part of one of the projects. The design for the
streetscape included several pylons along North Halsted Street and, after complaints that the pylons
would mark connected areas as being gay, flower planters to mark side streets. As quoted by Curt
Winkle in Planning and LGBTQ Communities: The Need for Inclusive QueerSpaces, the designs
from the Chicago Department of Transportation specified that the columns rise from the

Mahatma Gandhi Motivation
Motivations
Since he was young, Mahatma Gandhi was influenced heavily by his religious affiliation to
Vaishnavism. His mother was completely immersed in religion and would often alternate between
time at home and time at the temple. Most of his life he had spent in the practice of worshiping
Vishnu, a rigorous moral religion whose main principles promoted nonviolence and universal
eternity. These roots are the main ideas Gandhi adapted into not only his life, but within the
movement. This was further propelled through his experiences in England as a vegetarian, he met
several idealists who rejected the capitalist and industrial society and preached the cult of a simple
life and the importance of moral superiority, as opposed to sustaining materialistic items. These
values were essential to contributing to Gandhi s personality and political views (Encyclopedia
Britannica, 2017).
These values and perspectives on life, were soon put to action once he became exposed to the
practising racial discrimination in South Africa. He was asked to take off his turban in the court
magistrate, thrown out of first class because of race, was beaten up by a stagecoach because he
would not travel on the footboard to make room for a European passenger and rejected from
several European only hotels. Which were daily occurrences for Indian labourers and traders within
Natal. Through these first hand experiences Gandhi was witness to the injustice of discrimination
and was motivated to change and

Nursing Timeline
Historical Development of Nursing Timeline Historical Development of Nursing Timeline The
19th century marked the beginning of professional nursing. Florence Nightingale was the legend
behind it as she began the struggle of nurses being recognized as professionals. It is hard to
believe that nurses were once assigned to the job as a sentence for crimes committed or for the
women who were too old or sick to hold conventional jobs. Nightingale s focus included infection
control, documentation, patient safety, confidentiality, and evidence based practice, which seems
common place today, but was very forward thinking for that period. The era of Florence Nightingale

However, Barrett (2002) believes knowledge is the focus of nursing science rather on theory or
research. George (2011) explains the relationship between theory, research, and practice
influence each other in a circular way. In other words, research and theory are not based on
hierarchy, but rather, practice is based on theories that are supported through research. To that
end, research and theory are not the only disciplines that have influenced nursing throughout the
ages. Interdisciplinary influences on the science of nursing Many influences affect the science
of nursing, such as philosophy, religion, education, anthropology, social sciences, and
psychology, as we will briefly discuss here. Holt and Clarke (2000) surmise philosophical
method can be useful because it requires careful analysis of words, concepts, arguments and
claims and therefore by definition demands and develops critical thinking. All of these essential
elements of philosophy are used as nursing requires the ability to analyze and evaluate patients
and provide care based on the best existing plan of care. Religion was once deeply rooted in
nursing and was seen as a ministry to Christ. Religious ties may not be so obvious in nursing
today, however, the focus on holistic and spiritual care reminds us the Christian influence has not
been erased completely. Holistic and spiritual care are terms widely used currently and are an
essential part of the nursing

In one of the most well known cities of the United States, New York City was the central focus in
the 1980 s. Five minority youths aged 14 to 16 were arrested and convicted of rape, sexual
assault, and almost murdering 28 year old white female investment banker, Trisha Meili, as she
was jogging through Central Park on the night of April 19th, 1989. These innocent Latino and
African American five young men Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Raymond Santana, Korey

It was a time in the city s history to get the perpetrators of the crime committed and to be
recognized as solving the greatest crime of time. Media and public presence played a huge role in
pressuring law enforcement to figure out this awful incident. The demand from the public was
pushing from all sides of this story to get answers.
One thing that struck me while watching this documentar,y was the way that the New York media
sought out the information and relayed it back to the public. They created a humungous turmoil
against the five teenage boys, who they claimed were out wilding running in a wolf pack after
their predators . Mayor Koch stated, this will be a test of the system , regarding for the death
penalty. The public wanted to see how the system would handle such barbaric acts and whether or
not they will give them the death penalty for such crimes . Even multi millionaire Donald Trump
wrote a full page ad in the frontlines, with the headline, Bring Back the Death Penalty, Bring Back
Our Police. This sparked my attention as to what pandemonium was going on in the city during that
time. The amount of discrimination and social tension between classes frustrated me, as I thought,
well did the system go under a Due Process

Pop Culture In Jane Austen s Clueless
The culture of popular girls, a fascinating concept to those willing to escape into an all too real
world. This, which has been somewhat of a cult classic starting as far back as the 1800s, with
Jane Austen s Emma. Emma Churchill was a twenty one year old with the most trivial problems,
which, to her, seemed the world. Those of not getting a boy, or getting someone else s boy were
the most troubling to Ms. Churchill, as she is known to her help. Typical of any story such as this,
she had an accomplice in her daily shenanigans, Harriet Smith. Her slightly naive best friend was
there to help her through all of her earth shatteringly important problems. Emmanever did have a
mother figure, so conclusively that is why she never learned that there are bigger things in life
than boys and primping. Despite this, she was never interested in the idea of marrying for
herself, but setting her friends up with their perfect match. However, she does end up finding
love in the end, even if it is with a family member, extended family of course. This twisted story
of love and the troubles of a rich girl is more commonly known in pop culture by the name of

Family In The Count Of Monte Cristo
In the film The Count of Monte Cristo, based on the novel of the same name by Alexander
Dumas, the idea of family serves as serious matter that is capable of dictating the allegiances and
motivations for the primary characters of the film. Furthermore, the idea of family is also depicted
in the film, as a liability for the characters and a vulnerability that others in the film exploit. Within
this examples can be seen in Villefort s action of imprisoning Edmond to protect his father, Albert s
change of heart when it is revealed that Edmond is his father, and the class discrimination that
Edmond encounters prior to his imprisonment. Edmond s imprisonment at the hands of Villefort is
a defining moment of the film and is one motivated entirely by Villefort s filial ties. During this
scene, Edmond shows evidence of a Bonapartist conspiracy through a letter given to him by
Napoleon Bonaparte. Initially, Villefort realizes Edmond s innocence, but upon inspecting the letter
it is revealed to him that the its contents incriminate his father. When this is revealed to him,
Villefort burns the letter and imprisons Edmond for life in order to silence him. Through this, it is
seen that the idea of family is capable of drastically altering the goals of characters, as Villefort
immediately realizes that he must destroy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Russian Weapons In The Middle Ages
Russian warriors in the Middle Ages developed great skills and courage during their massive
battles, which provided them with the respect and fear they desired. Many of their brutal weapons
were unique to Russia, however some originated from their Norse heritage, which they then
incorporated into their own Viking style combat. Some of their infantryskills even evolved from the
Mongols after their invasion in the 13th century. During the Middle Ages, Russian military units
had similar armory to the Byzantine military units. Very rarely did they wear a full suit of armor
and were deprived of protection, but quick maneuvers and mobility required only limited armory.

Bow and arrows were able to be made efficiently and easily, due to one simple material; a single
piece of wood. This special craftsmanship gave a ratnik, or warrior, the ability to pierce a target of
over 500 meters away. This particular weapon was based on the Mongol horse archery tactic
during the Mongol Invasion of the Russian states during the 13th century. The Russian cavalry,
or those who used bow and arrows as a main weapon, also carried with them a long curved sword
like the shashka, a type of pike, an axe, or a mace. They always carried multiple weapons at a
time in order to be prepared for any type of battle approach. The early Russians had many unique
weapons, including a large war axe, or bardiche. A pole held a large curved blade, usually 60 80
centimeters long, and was useful in battle for heavy slashing (Xenophon, 2017). A mace, or
bulava, was another weapon that the Russian cavalry and infantry carried during war. This blunt
weapon had a heavy head at the end of a handle, which gave warriors the ability to distribute
powerful blows and penetrate a plate of armor (Wikipedia, 2017). The infantry usually received
shorted maces, while the cavalrymen were given longer handles in order to better attack the enemy
on horseback. The Russian soldiers in the Middle Ages were well equipped with

the impact of black money on economy?
Country does not get its normal legitimate revenues due to evasion of taxes. As huge amount of
money is hidden, many vital statistics needed for macro planning the country s welfare measures
and programmers are distorted. The money needed for many welfare measures are not available for
the productive economy. When black money is generated outside the country by Indian nationals or
taken away from India to foreign centres, the foreign exchange reserves get affected. The black
money returns to our country through routes via different countries, and different entities that
ultimately the real origin cannot be traced, and the money then gets washed and enters as normal
legal money.

ING5 Case Study
The ING (INhibitor of Growth) family of genes and proteins (ING1 ING5) was identified in 1996,
from PCR mediated subtractive hybridization between a normal mammary epithelial cell strain and
several transformed breast cancer cell lines, followed by an in vivo functional screen for
tumourigenesis1. The ING proteins target histoneacetyltransferase (HAT) and histone deacetylase
(HDAC) complexes to the H3K4me3 mark, altering histone acetylation and gene expression2.
ING4 was identified by computational analysis and is expressed in various tissues; also several
splice variants and transcripts were described for this protein3 5. The ING5 protein of the ING
family, was described by computational homology search and shares a high amino acid... Show

Also, due to the presence of the LID in all INGs, we will study if ING5 and ING4 are capable of
interacting with Lamin A in differentiating stem cells and the importance of this interaction to stem
cell differentiation.
To achieve these objectives, we will use three different mouse embryonic stem (ES) cell lines
(R1, D3, E14), already present in the lab. In ongoing studies, it was noted that these cells
presented all five of the ING genes with altered expression when they were induced to
differentiate. We will first study if altering ING5 and ING4 expression using siING5 and siING4
to decrease it and pCI ING5, pCI ING4 to increase levels, will affect differentiation and the self
renewal rate of these lines. We will use sphere formation assays to assess self renewal. We will
also induce differentiation with these different expression constructs, thus measuring the influence
of these proteins in the process. To determine the degree of differentiation with varying expression
of the ING genes, we will use flow cytometry to follow changes in stem cells markers, such as
OCT4, OLIG2 and Nestin16.
Previous studies from our group already described the LID and the interaction of several ING
proteins with Lamin A12. In the conditions used in this study, ING4 was co precipitated with
Lamin A. However, even though ING5 presents the LID, it was not co precipitated12. In this work
we aim to evaluate the effects of the possible interaction between the ING4 and

Strength In What Friends Character Analysis
Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself by looking out for
your country (Calvin Coolidge). Looking out for your country can be as simple as helping out
another individual who is going through a difficult time. Some Americans understand this concept
better than others. The Americans in the book Strength in What Remains by Tracy Kidder,
understand this especially well as they help the main character, Deo, heal. They provide a shelter
and a way back to Burundi, the country of his nightmares. Oskar Schell from the novel Extremely
Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer also finds benevolent Americans who are

The Personality Of A Personality Disorder
During many years and even today, society has wonder about some of the personality disorders.
Every time they hear about those disorders people tend to think that there is murder and abuse
involve and that those people are dangerous to society. Since people lack knowledge about the
different types of personality disorders, they tend to lack the ability to deal with those type of
people. There has always been questions about the symptoms, causes, treatment and involvement in
society that involve the Antisocial, Anxietyand Narcissist disorders. We hear about these disorders
everywhere, in media and in everyday life. However, we do not completely understand these
disorders to the extent to know what kind of people live around us.
First of all, the antisocial personality disorder is one of the most common disorder that many
people have the least knowledge. Another name to the antisocial personality disorder is
Sociopath. Since this disorder is antisocial, the symptoms that involve this disorder reflect some
lack of involvement in society. Disregard of right and wrong is one of the symptoms that involve
the lack of involvement in society. Since an antisocial does not acknowledges between right and
wrong, the involvement in criminal activity is common. These people can also be persistent lying

The Creator Of Star Wars
In the George Lucas film, the creator of Star Wars, has very strong Hindu beliefs. Similar to
Hinduism affecting our lives, so has it affected his to an extent, which can also be seen by the fact
that he has incorporated Hindu themes throughout the Star Wars film. This essay will explain,
through different examples, the way Lucas has pushed Hinduism into this movie. In the movie, The
Empire Strikes Back, it seems to portray some type of Hinduism in the first parts. Moreover, In the
scene when Luke Skywalkergoes to find Yoda. As he arrives, Skywalker finds himself in a swamp

scene Luke gets a vision that his friends are in great danger. Luke then prepares to departure to

because it is more important. This specifies on the Hindu concept of job over blood. The duty
over blood lesson can be looked as examples in readings found in the Bhagavad Gita, where
Krishna tells Arjuna to battle his cousin in spite of his emotions for them, it is his job to do so.
Towards the end of the training session, as Luke begins to leave, Ben Kenobi tells Luke to never
give into anger and hatred. This lesson is also taught by Gandhi, which is explained in Hinduism.
Aside from the training sessions, there are several parts of Star Warsthat portray examples of
Hinduism. An example of this would be

The Issue Of Corporate Greed
In exploring the issue of corporate greed, especially on Wall Street, we can decide if an issue is
overblown by asking one question, Can a life ruining, economy changing financial crisis be
skewed for dramatic effect? The Big Short tells the story of the financial crisis of 2008 and
tackles the issue of corporate greed in the form of the true stories of a few men who saw the
crisis coming. The issue is not overblown at all. This can be observed by simply looking to the
devastation and chaos caused by banks trying to make money by preying on the poor and un
informed in the years following 2008. Most of us are old enough to remember the mind
numbingly large number of people that were affected in several ways when the housing market
crashed. Unfortunately, many are also old enough to have been directly affected by the choices
big banks made for decades. Because there was such a large event directly caused by the issue of
corporate greed, there are plenty examples in daily life to suggest that The Big Short does not
skew the issue for dramatic effect. Almost all economists have weighed in on the economic
failure in journals discussing topics such as corporate greed and the aftermath of the collapse. In
terms of severity, the financial collapse of 2008 is second only to the Great Depression in
American history. This fact alone is enough to prove that The Big Short did not skew the issue for
dramatic effect. But looking deeper into the situation, we can see that

Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects
Top 10 Drugs and Their Effects
Drug abuse is a very common problem in most countries so it seemed like a good topic for a list.
This is a list of ten of the most abused drugs and the effects they have on people.
1. Heroin
Heroin is an opiate processed directly from the extracts of the opium poppy. It was originally
created to help cure people of addiction to morphine. Upon crossing the blood brain barrier, which
occurs soon after introduction of the drug into the bloodstream, heroin is converted into morphine,
which mimics the action of endorphins, creating a sense of well being; the characteristic euphoria
has been described as an orgasm centered in the gut. One of the most common methods of heroin
use is via intravenous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

as an entheogen, and a tool in use to supplement various types of practices for transcendence
including in meditation, psychonautics, and illicit psychedelic psychotherapy whether self
administered or not. The primary effects of MDMA include an increased awareness of the senses,
feelings of openness, euphoria, empathy, love, happiness, heightened self awareness, feeling of
mental clarity and an increased appreciation of music and movement. Tactile sensations are
enhanced for some users, making physical contact with others more pleasurable. Other side effects,
such as jaw clenching and elevated pulse, are common.
7. Opium
Opium is a resinous narcotic formed from the latex released by lacerating (or scoring ) the
immature seed pods of opium poppies (Papaver somniferum). It contains up to 16% morphine, an
opiate alkaloid, which is most frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal
drug trade. Opium has gradually been superseded by a variety of purified, semi synthetic, and
synthetic opioids with progressively stronger effect, and by other general anesthesia. This process
began in 1817, when Friedrich Wilhelm Adam SertГјrner reported the isolation of pure morphine
from opium after at least thirteen years of

The Importance of External Influences in Building a Democracy
The Importance of External Influences in Building a Democracy
In Democracy in the Third World, Robert Pinkney analyzed circumstances that have been important
in the past for building a democracy for current democratic regimes. Pinkney studies seven
comparatives and their theories for the cause and effect of democracy and identifies their pros and
cons. The most important of these conditions stands in the external influences and foreign
participation in building the state as a democracy of a non democratic country.
In his Conditions Conducive to Democracy chart Pinkney introduces the condition of external
influences being one of these conditions that to a democracy. He defines it as when foreign ... Show

Nigeria s democracy has struggled and has a grim future due to the high social and religious
turmoil. The relations of the inter elite has no evidence to show that it is conducive to democracy;
France in the late 1800s was ruled by the elite and the king and the peasant class was what brought
the uprising of the route towards democracy. For these reasons and many more the conditions stated
above are not as relevant to the establishment of a democracy as external influences of a
democratized country onto a non democratized country.
Before using specific country case studies we must first define what is a democracy. According
to Mark Kesselman, Joel Krieger and William A. Joseph a true democracy has all of the
following: political accountability, political competition, political freedom and political equality.
First, political accountability is the formal procedures of the state that are found legitimate by the
people of the state. Next, political competition allows political parties to practice freely and run for
office. Political freedom states that all citizens must possess political rights and civil liberties.
Lastly, political equality enables all citizens to be legally entitled to participate in politics.
Two of the most stabilized democracies, Japan and Germany, were both established as democracies

The Tragedy Of Medea By Euripides
Medea
The characters in Medea by Euripides have no free will; the gods control all. Consequently, the
concept, Divine Double Bind, described by the author Ruth Padel in Whom Gods Destroy as
Divinity issues prohibitions (do not kill your mother), forces you to break them, then punishes
you for doing so (215) explains perfectly the actions and ultimate fates of Medea, Jason, King
Creon and his daughter, the chorus leader, and the two sons. Many of Medea s actions, which
offend the gods, and the subsequent consequences for such actions throughout the story exhibit the
Divine Double Blind concept. Medea starts off by offending the gods when, according to Jason,
Medea s husband, she slaughtered [her] brother in [her] home (81), and then, as is explained by the
nurse, Medea s servant, she causes Pelias daughter to kill their father (32). Medea s first misdeed
is thus murder, and although it is through Medea s actions that these crimes are committed,
because the gods control all the mortals, the gods are actually the ones who made her do them.
Sticking with the Divine Double Blind concept, the gods punish Medea by having her marriage
to Jason fall apart. The nurse recites that their fine love s grown sick, diseased, for Jason . . .
married the daughter of king Creon (32). Jason has neglected Medea and married another woman,
which Medea responds to with rage. She kills again, this time targeting Jason s new wife and her
father, King Creon. Medea has her

In May 2006, Westmount Retirement Residence was having very low profitability. Its very simple
pricing model essentially charged each resident the same price per month regardless of their needs.
This was due to a change in the patientsВґ demands. In the past, patientsВґ demands were similar
and therefore the companyВґs pricing and costing system was appropriate. But changes in the
population and in the requirements of the residents caused that the pricing model remained out of
date and the costing system inappropriate. One of the problems observed when analyzing the
companyВґs situation was that due to the costing system used it was not possible to have a clear

Why Did Ancient Astronomers Study
Star Spotters by David Jefferis 8 202
Question: How did ancient astronomers study the sky?
Answer: These people used their eyes to look at the stars, moon, and sun. They also used an
astrolabe which could pinpoint and predict the moon, stars, planets, and sun s location. This
information helped them know when to plant their crops.
Question: What positive things does the sun do for us?
Answer: Life on Earth wouldn t be possible without the sun. It gives us light and warmth. Also, by
studying the sun, we can predict weather forecasts. These aided farmers in knowing when they
should plant and harvest their crops. The sun s energy also helps power many electrical appliances
on Earth and in space.

Hester Prynne
D.H. Lawrence, an English novelist and literary critic, pens his essay On the Scarlet Letter
critiquing the novel The Scarlet Letter and its portrayal of American society. Lawrence argues that
Hester Prynne, the novel s protagonist, is not a victim, but rather, the product of evil and sin in
American society. D.H. Lawrence is effective in portraying his harsh perception on Hester Prynne
by the use of clever diction, thoughtful allusions, and choppy syntax. The clever diction utilized
by Lawrence in his essay aid in achieving his purpose as a writer. D.H. Lawrence begins his
critique by introducing his cynical perspective that the greatest triumph a woman can have,
especially an American woman is seducing a man, especially if he is pure (Lawrence). This

Lawrence s selection of choppy syntax communicates his stance on Hester Prynne. Through concise
alliteration, such as Adulteress! The great Alpha. Alpha! Adulteress! The new Adam and Adama!
American! , Lawrence demonstrate that Hester is not a worthy woman, but rather a poison to the
society she surrounds herself with (Lawrence). The repetition of referencing Hester as an
adulteress emphasizes the consequences of her sinful actions, which Lawrence wants to highlight
for the reader. Additionally, describing Prynne as the alpha , and Adama connects her back to Eve
in the Garden of Eden, who was the first human being to sin. In short, Lawrence wants to expand
on the presence of Hester s sin and its grip on her life. D.H. Lawrence continues this broken syntax
as he writes, Flop. Flop goes spiritual love (Lawrence). This onomatopoeia is a distinct contrast with
the previous passage that Lawrence writes which is lengthy and substantive. Prynne s choppy,
shortsighted, sinful path becomes the trajectory for which Lawrence parallels in his writing

In today s business world, competition is a big concern for nearly every corporation. The
competition on the market is getting stronger and more difficult to overcome, in many situations
corporations terminate their products, production, or their services, just because it is impossible to

This is an old concept a group of artists and acrobats who travel the world with a tent, and with a

this concept is obsolete, although still exist in Europe.
According The Wall Street Journal ... Cirque du Soleil, the Canadian company that redefined the
dynamics of a declining circus industry in the 1980s. Under conventional strategy analysis, the
circus industry was a loser. Star performers had supplier power over the company. Alternative forms

and on the rise. Moreover, animal rights groups were putting increased pressure on circuses for
their treatment of animals. (Murray, 2014) A new era was created transforming the concept of what
is a circus today. As the Wall Street Journal described, Cirque du Soleil eliminated the animals and
reduced the importance of individual stars. It created a new form of entertainment that combined
dance, music and athletic skill to appeal to an upscale adult audience that had abandoned the

Fear can lead to a lot of things, but unfortunately, in humans it usually leads to something bad.
Throughout history, fear has lead to some of the most violent actions by man, and some of the
biggest collapses of organized society. In early American history, the people of Salem experienced
this for themselves. Arthur Miller shows this in his book. The society of Salem that Miller creates
in The Crucible shows how fearcan slowly cause rational thoughtto deteriorate, leading to mass

they make, and they need to clear their own names as well. So, they arbitrarily start claiming that

Ideology Of Punk Rock Ideology
What is punk rock? How many people know the real definition? Punk rocks values, attitude, and
ideologies? Punk rock isn t just a style or a scene but a way of life. It all started in the late 1970s,
originating from the working class angst and frustrations many youth were feeling about the
economic inequality. One of punks main oppositions was rejection of mainstream, corporate mass
culture and its values. It continued to evolve its ideology of anti racist and anti sexist belief systems
as the movement spread from its origins in England and New York to Northern America. The
attitude common in the subculture is the resistance to selling out, which means abandoning one s
values and changing in musical style toward pop to embrace anything that s mainstream capitalist
culture in the exchange for money, status, or power. Punk rocks common thinking wasn t only anti
authoritarism, and not selling out but also non conformity, direct action, and a DIY ethic. The DIY
attitude was pointed towards stepping forward and speaking without any restraint. To fight with
warrior qualities to achieve what you were striving for. The kind of thinking and motives for punk
rocksubjects was to not settle for what society made acceptable and standard but to think and work
outside of the box that was holding them in. Punk rock ideologies were expressed though music and
lyrics, punk literature, fashion and visual art. In the beginning punk fashionevolved everyday

Qatar, a country located in the Middle East by Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf, has a thriving
economy due to the vast amount of oil and gas reserves located along its vast coastline. Although

Qatar s total exports were valued at $57.82 billion, with natural gas, oil, fertilizers, and steel as
popular export commodities ( Qatar Economic Forecast ). Japan is considered Qatar s major
trading partner when it comes to exports. Qatar works with a trade surplus, with revenues gained
that are reinvested into imports that has helped this country maintain a rapidly growing
economy ( Qatar Economy ). On the other hand, Qatar imports food, chemicals, and machinery
and transport equipment from countries such as the United States (14.2 percent), Saudi Arabia
(8.6 percent), and the United Kingdom (6.4 percent) (Economy overview: Qatar). Qatar has
become an economic powerhouse, ranging from the 1950 s up until over the past couple of
years due to several reasons. Since Qatar is located on the world s largest natural gas reserve,
this has allowed the country to employ more than ninety two percent of its citizens in
government funded jobs (Bates). In 1955, Hamad bin Khalifah Al Than impeached his father and
after this occurred, Qatar became a force to deal with in the region and beyond (Bates). First, Al
Than allowed the U.S. set up its military headquarters just outside of the capital of Qatar. Hamad
went on to build the world s largest facilities for compressing liquid natural gas, which now
exports to Europe, Japan, and India (Bates). It really projected Qatar to a role of importance in the

This approach has been one of the main competitive advantages of the company that maintained
its stores and cafes in a friendly and ambient atmosphere in various locations. The company did
not start as a traditional fast food restaurant, but rather as a network of places where people
could fulfill their natural instincts with healthy and freshly cooked food with a little higher than
average price range. Panera Bread was one of the trend makers of casual food restaurants, whose
vision was entirely different from the typical model of public facilities. All of the locations
shared a common design and menu that created a unique environment of the franchise. Moreover,
in order to enable high quality service, the executive team of the company decided to equip all of

The Culture Of Spain And Spain
The following is an overview of the culture of Spain.
1. Values and attitudes
Family, including extended family is extremely important in Spanish culture and is the basis of
society. Families provide a social and sometimes financial support network. Increased
individualism is having its effect, however, as families become less close, family size decreases
and a respect for personal preference decreases the frequency of people working for their family
businesses (Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette).
General manners and customs
Spanish culture is unique in Europe, but similar enough for people to easily adapt. In Spain, men
greet each other with handshakes or hugs and women greet everyone with a kiss on both cheeks
(Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette). People verbally greet strangers in places like
elevators, shops, lockers rooms, etc. (Hendr). Dress is more formal in Spain and shorts are not
usually worn in public (Priest). When dining, it is important to keep both hands visible on the table
and use utensils to eat most things (Spain Language, Culture, Customs and Etiquette).
3. Business specific manners and customs
Spaniards conduct their business very personally. They prefer face to face contact and like to
engage in small talk to get to know the other party before beginning a business relationship. They
tend to only do business with people that have earned their trust (Spain Language, Culture, Customs
and Etiquette). Conducting business

The Harmful Effects Of Animal Testing On Animals
It is beyond my understanding how that cute dog in the window of that store could be one of the
115 million animals that are tested on every year in the U.S. Behind those cute puppy eyes may be
a whole world of pain. Animal testing can be using anything on animals from lipstick to medicine to
dangerous chemicals. Testing has been going on as early as 1832 (according to this picture on

Animals are getting tossed into testing, unaware of what is happening to them without choice.

American Auto Controversy
The American Autobahn Believe it or not there is a road system in which there is no speed
limit. It is called the autobahn and is located in Germany. However unlike many people think it
is not a single road but rather a series of motorways that stretch across all of Germany. The
autobahn is not without restrictions though. There are in some areas speed limits set during
inclement weather. There is also rules such as it is illegal to stop on the side of the road and
pass other vehicles if you are to the right of them. Now this sounds so great that the obvious
American thing to do is to steal the idea that many have already proposed. It is only a matter of
time until politicians throughout America will succumb to the pressures to create a similar system
of roads around the nation. It would certainly increase the revenue for nearby businesses due to
the newfound tourism. The new road system would be safer in comparison to a speed regulated
highway. Germany s autobahn for example has 6 traffic related deaths per 100,00 in comparison to

Many would like to see route 66 restored to it s former glory and made into an autobahn, but it is
impractical. I would suggest interstate 80. It is fairly flat and straight and with some work
could be a fantastic candidate for an American autobahn. Some upgrades may be necessary such
as repaving rough areas and increasing efficiency at intersections, but possible nonetheless. One
very promising area of this road happens to cross the Bonneville salt flats, already known for it s
rich history of speed. A toll however would be necessary to keeping the road in an exceptional
condition to insure the safety of the drivers. Another proposition may be an additional driving
class that would be mandatory or at the least offered to drivers in the area to increase safety. This
road if successful would be the beginning of a new era in American motorcar

the summer language program many years ago. Her training at Princeton will greatly benefit
Alicia as well as her career goal of ministering to girls and women, especially in her culture where
women play subordinate roles to men. In my estimation Alicia will well represent the commitment

The Between Heat And Energy
The term thermodynamics is known as the branch of physics that covers the relationship between
heat or temperature and all the forms of energy, including mechanical, electrical, or chemical.
Thermodynamics is a combination of four laws, which are known as zeroth law of
thermodynamics, first law of thermodynamics, second law of thermodynamics, and third law of
thermodynamics. According to Wolfram, The relation between heat and energy was important for
the development of steam engines, and in 1824 Sadi Carnot had captured some of the ideas of
thermodynamics in his discussion of the efficiency of an idealized engine (1019). After this
statement was made, scientist developed its laws. The term thermal equilibrium is when two bodies
are at the same temperature. Therefore, the zeroth law of thermodynamics states that if two bodies
are in thermal equilibrium with a third body, they are all in thermal equilibrium. In other words,
they are all have the same temperature. Joseph Black was one of the first scientist and physic
known as founder of the zeroth law of thermodynamics in the late 18th century.
The first law of thermodynamics states that heat energy can not be created or destroyed. It can be
just transformed into other forms or transferred into another location. Rudolf Clausius and William
Rankine were the first physics that made a full statement of the first law of thermodynamics in
1850. It is also known as another version of the law of conservation of energy.

Necklace Research Papers
Necklaces are a great way to accentuate your features and bring out the glow of your skin.
Nowadays, there are many kinds of necklaces you can choose from meaning that you may have a
difficult time in deciding what kind of necklace you like best. Necklaces can usually be
differentiated according to their lengths and widths. For example, the choker is the shortest
necklace at fourteen to sixteen inches long, it is followed by the princess necklace which is
eighteen inches long. Meanwhile, still another type of necklace is the matinee necklace which is
at twenty two to twenty three inches long; this type of necklace is usually above the cleavage
area. The last type of necklace is the longest one, the opera necklace; this type of necklace is
below the cleavage and is placed at the breastbone.
Necklaces have been popular since ancient civilizations; you have probably already encountered
the image of Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen, wearing different kinds of jewelry. But in fact,
necklaces have been used even before that time because there are some discoveries that suggest that
necklaces were used even during the time when the Israelis evacuated Egypt. Also note that from the
painting of Thebes, necklaces have been used by people in that era. Both men and women from the

(Taylor). From all of the recent controversy, one thing is clear; domestic violencecases should be

People blame domestic violence occurring through sports for various reasons, but there is truly
no reason for domestic violence. In contact sports, players are trained to use violence and
intimidation, and after they have been trained to enforce that for so long, there is no on/off
switch to stop said aggression. ( Out ). Athletes are supposed to be a symbol of manliness, and
domestic violence can create such forms of masculine unity. ( Out ). This sense of unity can
spawn from the common locker room talks about physical and sexual aggression towards women
as an attempt to fit in with the peers on their team. (Cord). Wins and losses also play a huge role in
the occurrence of domestic violence. If a team experiences an at home upset, then the chance of
domestic violence occurring increases by ten percent. (Cord). Sadly, this outrageous statistic doesn t
affect the athletes alone, but their dedicated fans. (Cord).

  • 2. Zindal Kordan Analysis Nineteen year old Zindal Kordan stood at the window on the 409th floor of the unfinished Pax City Capitol Building and surveyed the rebuilding efforts going on far below. Over three weeks ago, he killed Henry Cavanaugh, the leader of the Naturalist Rebellion that had caused this bloody civil war Zin had fought in for almost a year now, on this alien planet so far from Earth where Zindal had grown up, but what he had come to call home. He hoped his actions, as brazen and dirty as they were, would come to fruition, but he knew how dangerous it was to hope. After his decline into depravity (was that what the shrinks had called it? He couldn t remember), he was escorted back to Pax City by two armed guards, though his brother Io assured... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He tried to call out to Io, tried to beg him for help, but he couldn t. Strings of words wove themselves together above his head, but refused to make any sense. Someone stripped him; someone else stuck something to his forehead and chest, arms and legs. A dot of pain in his hand felt like an IV. Io stepped into view, motionless in the flutter of movements around Zindal. When Zindal met his eyes, he was surprised to find sorrow there, actual sorrow. He said nothing. The group of people lifted Zin from the table and lowered him into a narrow container. They pulled a door over the top of it was it a coffin? Were they burying him alive? Panic burned in his stomach but light still made its way to his unresponsive eyes. Again, he tried to move, and again, he failed. Something started to churn beneath him. The temperature dropped until he could see his breath. A thick, freezing liquid pumped out of the holes in the walls surrounding him. It inched higher, sending goosebumps down his arms. He was going to drown. The realization sprung tears from his eyes, and again, he looked for Io. The liquid covered his legs and chest, inched its way up to his ears, seeped into his mouth and nose. He held his breath for as long as he could, but soon, he was forced to inhale. To his surprise and relief, he could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Endangered Animals The world is facing many serious issues in this day and time. One of the major one is endangered species. These organisms are living on the edge of extinction. There are many things that threaten these species like loss of habitat, lack of food, hunting and many more. The victim of this horrendous crime against living organisms is the fastest running mammal called Cheetah, scientifically known as Acinonyx jubatus . Cheetahs are true carnivores which means they depend on meat for survival. They use high speed to easily hunt their prey. Primary diet of cheetah consists of springbok, ostriches, impala, deer, gazelles, warthogs, birds, hares, young zebras etc. These animals tend to target younglings because of the greater rate of success. And while hunting these species like to stalk their prey for 10 50m and then start sprinting towards it. During this time frame, their bodies are under immense strain and pressure as a result their body temperature rises to its highest. These mammals live in the dry grasslands of sub Saharan Africa, and in eastern and southern parks. Some can also be found in southern Algeria, northern Niger and Iran. Today Namibia has the largest population of cheetahs living in Africa. It is very hard to believe that these species use to roam around nearly all of Africa and much of Asia, but now they are driven out of 91% of its historic range. These animals are nearly extinct in Asia, only around 50 of these individual are living in isolated areas of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Barbie Doll By Marge Piercy Today s society raises young women to conform to archaic practices with total disregard towards a child self progression. In Barbie Doll poem by Marge Piercy it is portrayed a young girl who was attacked by society because of having unruly features on her appearance and body. To make clear, Piercy uses the title Barbie Doll in her poem to symbolize the cultural American traditions of making young girls live in a fairy tale world; where everything they see or do is perfect. The girl in this poem played with Barbie toys since she was little, but when she reached her puberty people started to criticize her of having imperfections on her face and body; which made her commit a really wrong decision for herself. In today s society there are a large number of women having plastic surgery, because they do not feel comfortable or confident with their own appearances. Women are not just beauty queens and home makers; they should retreat from female stereotypes at a young age so they do not confront society pressure. Barbie s toys purpose of entertaining young girls is sarcastic, because the underlying theme behind them is destructive; since female stereotypes make the girls think they are as perfectly beautiful as the Barbie. In the beginning of the poem the author states various items that any young girl would have such as, dolls that imitated live children, dolls that did pee pee , mini stoves and irons to keep clothes neat, and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy , the ... • 7. Chicago Manual Style Essay Based on the CMS paper sample on page 84 of the text, I would say that a few of the differences between Chicago Manual Style and MLA format are the use of a title page, the use of marginal annotations, and the format of the citations. While MLA format is typically used for people writing in the humanities fields, Chicago Manual Style is mainly written in the history field. In this sample, a title page is used. In MLA format a title page is not required, though, it can sometimes be included if requested. MLA format included in text citations, not marginal annotations. Lastly, the citation format of the CMS format is unique, making some citations very long and some very short. When comparing the CMS format in the paper to my knowledge of the APA format, I feel that the differences are mostly found in the way that the citations are formatted. To start off, APA format, as discussed in previous forums, is mainly used in the social science fields. In the CMS paper, the specific page range from which the writer got their information from is given, while in the book s sample APA... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As seen in the sample paper, the use of numbered citations allows reader to focus in on the actual content of the paper, and avoids the constant reuse of the source creator s last name and page number. While this is similar to the CSE format, the CMS format differs from CSE by not directing their writing towards a very specific audience. The CSE sample paper used very high level diction, which implied that they expected their readers to already have an idea of what the paper s topic was about. The CMS sample paper uses more lower level diction, which allows for a broader audience to be able to read and understand the content of the paper. I feel like the less focused audience range and the strong analysis of the CSE sample paper is its biggest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay about Natural Disasters Natural Disasters This being my senior project I wanted to look at a topic that I found interesting. Even though I find most topics in the fields interesting, none catch my attention better than natural disasters. I have always found disasters intriguing and have wanted to know more about them. The disaster that I found most interesting were Hurricanes. The thought of those storms with their power gives me the chills. Ever since I was in the middle of Hurricane Bob when I was vacationing with my family off the coast of Virginia and we were asked by the state police to evacuate our house, I wanted to learn more about hurricanes. Since that I have been able to take classes that enabled me to learn more about hurricanes. That is why I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main reason that I have decided to research this part of the world and not look at the rest of the world is I live in this part of the United States and have been part of one of these storms. Also the data was much easier to research. Most people think of the Atlantic when they think of hurricanes. The first priority is to find out what exactly a hurricane is. A hurricane comes from the West Indian word hurricane, meaning quot;big wind quot; (New Orleans, weather). A hurricane forms in the tropics around warm water. It starts as a disorganized storm in the ocean. When it starts to become more organized, it will be put into the first of three classifications. The classification is tropical depression. The National Hurricane Center will get a letter to help classify the storm. When the winds of the storm reach 40mph it will go into the second classification, tropical depression. The service will give it a name at this point. The name is pre determined based on a list that recycles every six years. The list of names for the next few years are on figure one. A name will only not appear on the list if it is retired. Finally, if the storm s wind reach 70mph, it would be classified as a hurricane. The quot;eye quot; of the hurricane is the center of the storm. This area of the storm is calm with no clouds. Around the eye the storm goes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. 12 Angry Men Trial Essay I am writing to tell you about my conclusion of whether justice was served on the Twelve Angry Men trial, in which the jurors presented a verdict of not guilty . I believe that the verdict could be wrong, and that reopening the case with a retrial would be the best course of action possible. To remind you about the case, a sixteen year old boy was accused of fatally stabbing his father with a switch knife. The witnesses were an old man who lived underneath the room where the murder took place, and a woman across the street with a window right opposite the kid s. The old man claimed to have heard loud noises (that sounded like a fight) upstairs at approximately 12:10 and later heard the kid shout I m going to kill you . Shortly afterwards,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a few of the jurors pointed out, the boy had lived in the slum. His mother had died when he was nine, and he had spent a year and a half in an orphanage due to fact that his father was serving a jail term at the time. The boy would regularly be beat by his father ever since he was five, and had been hit several times before storming out of the house on the night of the murder. In the nurture aspect of the nature or nurture theory, he may have been negatively affected by his harsh environment, as his record shows. The boy had been in Children s Court when he was ten for throwing a rock at his teacher, attended Reform School when he was fourteen, stole a car was arrested for mugging, and was picked up twice for trying to wound another teenager with a knife. This may have been caused by the series of unfortunate events experienced by the kid, but that should not excuse his violent behavior or murderous tendencies , as worded by a psychologist who had tested the child. With a blemished record like this, it does not seem impossible for the boy to have committed a murder; after all, he had seriously attempted to injure other people multiple ... • 10. What Is The Purpose Of Neville Chamberlain s Persuasive... Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain structures his 1938 statement to Parliament as a persuasive speech. A persuasive speech tugs at the listeners heart strings and urges them to do or believe in something or someone. In this case, the purpose of Chamberlain s speech was to persuade Parliament of the importance of accepting the Munich Agreement. Chamberlain truly believed he was doing the right thing for the people of England by signing the Munich Agreement, along with Germany, Italy and France. But if only he had realised what the future held for England, and the entire world, as WWII followed not long after. Chamberlain is credible because he s a Prime Minister, so he is clearly an expert on the subject. He uses evidence and reason as well, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Number Of Gay Bars And Clubs The number of gay bars and clubs increased in number throughout the 1970s. However, as the number of businesses geared towards LGBT individuals increased they also migrated. The area that they settled around in the 1990s is located is called Lakeview East; Lakeview East, West Lake View, and Wrigglyville are the three smaller communities that make up the larger Lakeview neighborhood. More specifically, the businesses were clustered around Clark Street and Halsted Street. In 1997 Chicago s Mayor, Richard M. Daley, officially recognized the area as a gay neighborhood. This area, now known as Boystown, was the first gay neighborhood in the United States of America to be officially recognized by the government. The same year city planners under the direction of the Mayor s office devised a plan to create a streetscape that marked North Halsted Street as being a gay neighborhood. This project was in line with similar projects in ethnic neighborhoods. For instance, the metal Puerto Rican flag sculptures in Humbolt Park that were mentioned above were created as part of one of the projects. The design for the streetscape included several pylons along North Halsted Street and, after complaints that the pylons would mark connected areas as being gay, flower planters to mark side streets. As quoted by Curt Winkle in Planning and LGBTQ Communities: The Need for Inclusive QueerSpaces, the designs from the Chicago Department of Transportation specified that the columns rise from the ... • 12. Mahatma Gandhi Motivation Motivations Since he was young, Mahatma Gandhi was influenced heavily by his religious affiliation to Vaishnavism. His mother was completely immersed in religion and would often alternate between time at home and time at the temple. Most of his life he had spent in the practice of worshiping Vishnu, a rigorous moral religion whose main principles promoted nonviolence and universal eternity. These roots are the main ideas Gandhi adapted into not only his life, but within the movement. This was further propelled through his experiences in England as a vegetarian, he met several idealists who rejected the capitalist and industrial society and preached the cult of a simple life and the importance of moral superiority, as opposed to sustaining materialistic items. These values were essential to contributing to Gandhi s personality and political views (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2017). These values and perspectives on life, were soon put to action once he became exposed to the practising racial discrimination in South Africa. He was asked to take off his turban in the court magistrate, thrown out of first class because of race, was beaten up by a stagecoach because he would not travel on the footboard to make room for a European passenger and rejected from several European only hotels. Florence Nightingale was the legend behind it as she began the struggle of nurses being recognized as professionals. It is hard to believe that nurses were once assigned to the job as a sentence for crimes committed or for the women who were too old or sick to hold conventional jobs. Nightingale s focus included infection control, documentation, patient safety, confidentiality, and evidence based practice, which seems common place today, but was very forward thinking for that period. However, Barrett (2002) believes knowledge is the focus of nursing science rather on theory or research. George (2011) explains the relationship between theory, research, and practice influence each other in a circular way. In other words, research and theory are not based on hierarchy, but rather, practice is based on theories that are supported through research. To that end, research and theory are not the only disciplines that have influenced nursing throughout the ages. Interdisciplinary influences on the science of nursing Many influences affect the science of nursing, such as philosophy, religion, education, anthropology, social sciences, and psychology, as we will briefly discuss here. Holt and Clarke (2000) surmise philosophical method can be useful because it requires careful analysis of words, concepts, arguments and claims and therefore by definition demands and develops critical thinking. All of these essential elements of philosophy are used as nursing requires the ability to analyze and evaluate patients and provide care based on the best existing plan of care. Religion was once deeply rooted in nursing and was seen as a ministry to Christ. Religious ties may not be so obvious in nursing today, however, the focus on holistic and spiritual care reminds us the Christian influence has not been erased completely. Emma Churchill was a twenty one year old with the most trivial problems, which, to her, seemed the world. Those of not getting a boy, or getting someone else s boy were the most troubling to Ms. Churchill, as she is known to her help. Family In The Count Of Monte Cristo In the film The Count of Monte Cristo, based on the novel of the same name by Alexander Dumas, the idea of family serves as serious matter that is capable of dictating the allegiances and motivations for the primary characters of the film. Furthermore, the idea of family is also depicted in the film, as a liability for the characters and a vulnerability that others in the film exploit. Within this examples can be seen in Villefort s action of imprisoning Edmond to protect his father, Albert s change of heart when it is revealed that Edmond is his father, and the class discrimination that Edmond encounters prior to his imprisonment. Edmond s imprisonment at the hands of Villefort is a defining moment of the film and is one motivated entirely by Villefort s filial ties. During this scene, Edmond shows evidence of a Bonapartist conspiracy through a letter given to him by Napoleon Bonaparte. Initially, Villefort realizes Edmond s innocence, but upon inspecting the letter it is revealed to him that the its contents incriminate his father. When this is revealed to him, Villefort burns the letter and imprisons Edmond for life in order to silence him. Some of their infantryskills even evolved from the Mongols after their invasion in the 13th century. During the Middle Ages, Russian military units had similar armory to the Byzantine military units. The Russian cavalry, or those who used bow and arrows as a main weapon, also carried with them a long curved sword like the shashka, a type of pike, an axe, or a mace. To achieve these objectives, we will use three different mouse embryonic stem (ES) cell lines (R1, D3, E14), already present in the lab. In ongoing studies, it was noted that these cells presented all five of the ING genes with altered expression when they were induced to differentiate. We will first study if altering ING5 and ING4 expression using siING5 and siING4 to decrease it and pCI ING5, pCI ING4 to increase levels, will affect differentiation and the self renewal rate of these lines. We will use sphere formation assays to assess self renewal. We will also induce differentiation with these different expression constructs, thus measuring the influence of these proteins in the process. The Issue Of Corporate Greed In exploring the issue of corporate greed, especially on Wall Street, we can decide if an issue is overblown by asking one question, Can a life ruining, economy changing financial crisis be skewed for dramatic effect? The Big Short tells the story of the financial crisis of 2008 and tackles the issue of corporate greed in the form of the true stories of a few men who saw the crisis coming. The issue is not overblown at all. This can be observed by simply looking to the devastation and chaos caused by banks trying to make money by preying on the poor and un informed in the years following 2008. Most of us are old enough to remember the mind numbingly large number of people that were affected in several ways when the housing market crashed. Unfortunately, many are also old enough to have been directly affected by the choices big banks made for decades. Because there was such a large event directly caused by the issue of corporate greed, there are plenty examples in daily life to suggest that The Big Short does not skew the issue for dramatic effect. Almost all economists have weighed in on the economic failure in journals discussing topics such as corporate greed and the aftermath of the collapse. The relations of the inter elite has no evidence to show that it is conducive to democracy; France in the late 1800s was ruled by the elite and the king and the peasant class was what brought the uprising of the route towards democracy. For these reasons and many more the conditions stated above are not as relevant to the establishment of a democracy as external influences of a democratized country onto a non democratized country. Before using specific country case studies we must first define what is a democracy. According to Mark Kesselman, Joel Krieger and William A. First, political accountability is the formal procedures of the state that are found legitimate by the people of the state. Next, political competition allows political parties to practice freely and run for office. Political freedom states that all citizens must possess political rights and civil liberties. • 36. The Tragedy Of Medea By Euripides Medea The characters in Medea by Euripides have no free will; the gods control all. Consequently, the concept, Divine Double Bind, described by the author Ruth Padel in Whom Gods Destroy as Divinity issues prohibitions (do not kill your mother), forces you to break them, then punishes you for doing so (215) explains perfectly the actions and ultimate fates of Medea, Jason, King Creon and his daughter, the chorus leader, and the two sons. Many of Medea s actions, which offend the gods, and the subsequent consequences for such actions throughout the story exhibit the Divine Double Blind concept. Medea starts off by offending the gods when, according to Jason, Medea s husband, she slaughtered [her] brother in [her] home (81), and then, as is explained by the nurse, Medea s servant, she causes Pelias daughter to kill their father (32). Medea s first misdeed is thus murder, and although it is through Medea s actions that these crimes are committed, because the gods control all the mortals, the gods are actually the ones who made her do them. Sticking with the Divine Double Blind concept, the gods punish Medea by having her marriage to Jason fall apart. The nurse recites that their fine love s grown sick, diseased, for Jason . . . married the daughter of king Creon (32). Jason has neglected Medea and married another woman, which Medea responds to with rage. She kills again, this time targeting Jason s new wife and her father, King Creon. Medea has her ... Its very simple pricing model essentially charged each resident the same price per month regardless of their needs. This was due to a change in the patientsВґ demands. In the past, patientsВґ demands were similar and therefore the companyВґs pricing and costing system was appropriate. But changes in the population and in the requirements of the residents caused that the pricing model remained out of date and the costing system inappropriate. One of the problems observed when analyzing the companyВґs situation was that due to the costing system used it was not possible to have a clear picture of how much each of the services offered were costing. Consequently, it was clearly very difficult being able to define a pricing system that will give the shareholders the desired profit. The Between Heat And Energy The term thermodynamics is known as the branch of physics that covers the relationship between heat or temperature and all the forms of energy, including mechanical, electrical, or chemical. Thermodynamics is a combination of four laws, which are known as zeroth law of thermodynamics, first law of thermodynamics, second law of thermodynamics, and third law of thermodynamics. According to Wolfram, The relation between heat and energy was important for the development of steam engines, and in 1824 Sadi Carnot had captured some of the ideas of thermodynamics in his discussion of the efficiency of an idealized engine (1019). After this statement was made, scientist developed its laws. The term thermal equilibrium is when two bodies are at the same temperature. Therefore, the zeroth law of thermodynamics states that if two bodies are in thermal equilibrium with a third body, they are all in thermal equilibrium. In other words, they are all have the same temperature. Joseph Black was one of the first scientist and physic known as founder of the zeroth law of thermodynamics in the late 18th century. The first law of thermodynamics states that heat energy can not be created or destroyed. It can be just transformed into other forms or transferred into another location. He then proceeded to say that it was a new policy that the corporation added for us the consumers ( in general.) We asked why; he claimed it was all said in a meeting ( which we have no idea of since we don t work there.) There were no signs or rules stating that we couldn t record, the only sign they have is for the employees. Prior to this issue, he has had many other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the Files were given to us, the guard decided to show most of the staff our personal information saying that he won his case. For a 19 year old, he was disrespectful towards an elderly woman, but not only that; to everyone whom he thinks he intimidates. He s usually in the establishment but not always doing his intended job, instead, he flirts with most of the female employees or decides to just leave. He claims that he s there to serve and protect, however, he wasn t around when there was a fatal stabbing weeks prior. Since then, we have called Corporate to see what could also be done and all they say is that they ll look into it. We have given complaints about this young person a few ... The Commissioners of all of the sports teams, a.k.a. the police of the leagues, often do not take a stance against domestic violence issues or charges, unless these felons are put into the public eye, causing the league to lose appeal. People blame domestic violence occurring through sports for various reasons, but there is truly no reason for domestic violence. In contact sports, players are trained to use violence and intimidation, and after they have been trained to enforce that for so long, there is no on/off switch to stop said aggression. ( Out ). Athletes are supposed to be a symbol of manliness, and domestic violence can create such forms of masculine unity. ( Out ).
