Mindfulness
The second transformational practice that I chose to participate in for this course was mindfulness. I
decided to perform this in a meditative structure with similar goals to my first transformational
practice, which was a different form of meditation, and see which provided more benefit or was
simply a better fit for me. Decreasing my stress level and reducing work related anxiety were the two
primary objectives I was hoping to transform by engaging in this twice a week.
Through my personal experience with the mindfulness meditation, a lesson that I learned was that this
offered a substantial amount of stress relief. Not particularly attending to thoughts that enter my mind
and being mindful of the present, allowed stress from the day to dwindle away. I found the meditation
to be particularly effective on high stress days and this was a welcome event when I had a very hectic
day at work. Further, I discovered that in my case, this form of meditation was better at removing
stress than utilizing a mantra meditative technique. Another lesson learned was that mindfulness
meditation did not lessen my work anxiety to any great degree. It may have taken my mind off it
during the meditation practice, but I would feel some anxiousness soon afterwards as thoughts of work
began to prevail after my earnest focus during meditation came to an end. However, I think with more
time to develop the practice outside of a meditative setting, it is possible that this could be

There are similarities between every ideal and thought imaginable. There are also notable differences
between the infintant ideals, tangible or not. The comparisons can seem unlikely however are still
comparable and contrastable. Likewise Arthurian characters are closers than they seem at first look.
King Arthur and Lord Bercilak compare and and contrast through their ways of hospitalities,
principles, and religious views.
Both King Arthur and Lord Bercilak show immense amounts of hospitalities to the guest whom of
which enter their castle. As stated, As King Arthur s court feasts on New Year s Day, a mysterious
Green Knight appears offering a strange challenge (Alex). Clearly Arthur feeds anyone who entered
the castle. Also welcomed all guest with great gesture, just like he showed to the Green Knight. For

PND can be experienced as a vast array of symptoms such as anhedonia, excessive crying, mixed
anxious mood, sleep disturbance, and even suicidality (Kantrowitz Gordon, 2013). Further, mothers
with PND typically report difficulty bonding with their infant and a reduced ability to express love
and warmth (Letourneau et al., 2012; Paulson, Dauber Leiferman, 2006). Occasionally, the mother has
thoughts and images associated with hurting herself or her baby (NEED REFERENCE). Women who
experience PND may experience confusion and shame, as their experience is contrary to the ascribed
social role of motherhood which depicts an effortless, natural experience expected to bring joy.
Qualitative research suggests that women with PND universally report fear of stigma, especially the
stigma of being labeled a bad mother. This fear can lead to denial of symptoms and avoidance of help
seeking behavior (Bilszta, Ericksen, Buist, Milgrom, 2008). Women are even reluctant to disclose
distress to significant others and family members (Bilszta et al., 2008). Further, women seem to have

Lastly, in lines fifteen and sixteen, this is the final dance of the night, as it s the child s bedtime, but he
doesn t want to let go of his father s shirt just yet. This image, father whisking the kid away to bed,

The communist party was all for supporting black people having a self government and self
determination even though some weren t in favor of this cause. Also due to the rise of the communist
party there was an increase in political effort to protect the lives of African Americans. The communist
party was able to help save the lives of nine young black men from execution. This case was known as
the Scottsboro Boys ; in Alabama there were nine African American teenagers that were arrested in
1931 for supposably involved in raping two white women on a train. The teenagers were accused,
convicted and were soon to face the death penalty. Luckily for them the many African Americans from
the communist party supported them, the support system these boys had was amazing, this case
offered these young men an opportunity to play roles in the in the defense of black men and the
struggle they face against class and racial oppression. This case was also a very personal case to the
boy s families because they understood what it felt like for their own husbands and children getting
accused of raping someone and they also feared that they would also get lynched. In 1933 about a
thousand black men and women gathered in Richmond, Virginia to protest for the release of the nine

When it comes to Descartes reply, in the Passions of the Soul he uses the word impulse when
describing the movements of the pineal gland and gives the impression that many of these impulses
would be very slight and thus unnoticeable due to the fact that they only occur if the opposite impulse
(from either the soul or the animal spirits) is stronger than itself (Passions, 366). This leads me to
believe he would respond to the first objection by saying something to the effect of the movements or
impulses being so small they are undetectable (at least by the technology available to him).
My second objection applies to the plausibility of a causal interaction between an immaterial soul and
a material brain under the currently accepted laws of physics and more specifically of the law of the
conservation of energy. As it is understood, energy is neither created nor destroyed. If this is the case,
when the immaterial mind causally interacts with the material pineal gland, where does this energy
come from? This energy is not simply created for that would be against the laws of physics. If it is not
created though, it must be coming from somewhere and is likely being stored in a similar place. The
answer does not occur to me to describe where an immaterial mind would store its energy so as to

don t find any channel or show without being interrupted by commercials. This is most likely because
commercials are the very means of financing a show or program. Programs are even designed keeping

to commercials. At times kids enjoy commercial showing cartoons or any other baby products, but

It touches on homelessness, abortion and drug violence. Three very relevant topics, despite its 1998
release date. The song cautions those who are quick to judge and reminds us all, to take second look.
The song also argues that the listener may one day find themselves in a similar situation and they may

unregulated speech. Many campuses are forming regulations on speech codes, others choose to remain

opportunities. Is there a middle ground that allows individuals to continue their education in the
