Shamari Rockins is majoring in nursing with a focus on labor and delivery. Her favorite week of the course was week 2 which focused on personal responsibility, motivation, and self-management. She also enjoyed a discussion on metacognition which helped her understand the importance of studying in advance for exams and how the brain processes new information over time. Through the course, she has learned lessons about how her brain works and herself, including that she is capable of working hard to achieve her goals without excuses. Her goals are to complete her nursing degree with a focus on labor and delivery and work in that field while living in a new state with her family and partner.
2. FAVORITE WEEK?
• My favorite week in this course was week 2;
Personal Responsibility, Motivation, and Managing
Yourself. This week has given me motivation and I
have learned how to manage myself and everyway
possible; mentally and physically. I loved how this
week was all about your mental self.

3. FAVORITE DISCUSSION/APPLICATION
ACTIVITY
• My favorite discussion would be the metacognition
discussion. This is because when we were discussing
this, I had no idea of what metacognition meant.
But once I watched the video, I now understand
what it means. I will use this lesson now and In the
future. I need to know the importance of studying
days before an exam and how it takes time for your
brain to actually learn something.
4. METACOGNITION
• Metacognition is something that I would
love to learn more about. I would like to
know why does it take time for our brain to
learn something for us to know something.
Why do we have to do so much studying
and research for our brains to process what
we are wanting to learn?

5. LESSONS I HAVE LEARNED
• Some lessons that I have learned are not only
about how the brain works, but also about
myself. I have learned a lot about myself that I
had no idea of. I have learned that I can work
harder and there aren’t any excuses that should
be made. I found that I am truly blessed and the
excuses that I make are only for me to get by. I
know that I can do anything I put my brain into
and without I doubt I know that I will achieve if I
continue going forward. Carrying with me, the
lessons I have learned, will help me achieve
these goals.

6. GOALS ACCOMPLISHED
• When I accomplish all my goals and dreams, I will
have a masters in nursing for labor and delivery. I
will be very happy and complete. I would be
working with the babies to ensure that they are
happy and healthy. I would be living in another
state other than Texas (not sure where yet) and I
will the love of my life with me and family by my
side.
