Compare And Contrast Reagan And Kennedy
Two past presidents of the United States leading America through tough times and crisis . Ronald
Reagan and John F. Kennedy were two of the most significant leaders in America. Kennedy and
Reagan were very popular presidents. When Reagan took office he got shot but it didn t kill him.
Reagan had a lot of integrity in his personal life where Kennedy didn t. Reagan was faithful to his
wife while Kennedy ran around with other women. They were both powerful communicators. Reagan
had a greater impact because of the way that he spoke he was able to articulate conservatism in a way
that nobody else was able to do. Reagan and Kennedy both led presidencies that were compelling and
significant.

Kennedy was a democrat. Ronald Reagan s vice president was George H. W. Bush for both of Ronald
Reagan s terms. Ronald Reagan once said, The most terrifying words in the English language are: I m
from the government and I m here to help . I found it particularly interesting that he said this because
he was the president of the United States and he still had no faith in the government. John F. Kennedy
did not have a vice president. John F. Kennedy once said, As we express our gratitude, we must never
forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them . I liked this quote from
Kennedy because it says we should never fear things too much to the point where we can t appreciate
them. Ronald Reagan was married twice, first married to Jane Wyman and then he was married to
Nancy Reagan. John F. Kennedy was married once to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for ten years since
he was assassinated. They had four children together; John F. Kennedy Junior, Arabella, Caroline, and

Domestic Realism in Tennessee Williams Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Domestic Realism in Tennessee Williams Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Throughout the play of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof various members of the family are at loggerheads.
However, this comes to a climax in this passage as Big Daddy s imminent death is confirmed and the
question of the heir to the estate becomes an important issue. The Oxford Companion to American
Literature describes the play as depicting bitter, abnormal family tensions . These family tensions are
clearly seen in this passage. Big Daddy is dying and the only characters who appear to be more
concerned about his death than the estate are Big Mama and Maggie, Precious Mommy. I m sorry. I m
so sorry . Maggie is sorry for the death of Big Daddy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gooper also undermines Maggie s offering of support to Big Mama with nasty cynicism, How
beautiful, how touching, this display of devotion . This undermining stands to mark out Maggie s
flaws in the light of, who is more responsible for the running of the estate. The relationships within the
family are really emphasised by this competition. Mae and Gooper also attempt to demean Brick at
every opportunity, advertising his defects, Brick kept living in his past glory at College! Still a football
player at 27! Again, this is to illustrate that Brick is unsuitable for inheriting Big Daddy s estate, Big
Daddy would never be foolish enough to …put this place in irresponsible hands .
There is evidence throughout the passage that Mae and Gooper and working as a team. This is carried
even to the extent that they can finish off the other s sentences,
Mae: Yais, we ve all had a shock, but…
Gooper: Let s be realistic
Mae: Big Daddy would never, would never be foolish enough to
Gooper: put this place in irresponsible hands Their team work is also illustrated through the parallel
thoughts, there is a quick violent look between Mae and Gooper . This aggression and violence
becomes more physical when, Gooper has stalked up to Margaret with clenched fists…as if he would
strike her. Mae distorts her

Campaign To Keep Guns Off Campus Analysis
Today thousands of young students go to colleges and universities here in America. With so many
young minds placed onto one campus with little to no parental supervision the question is asked: are
college campuses a safe place? Yes, most college campuses across America are safe. A study prepared
by the campaign to keep guns off campus shows that the crime rate for college is monumentally lower
than the rate for the city where the campus is located. For example, in 2013 the city of Jacksonville
Florida had 452 cases of forcible rape and 3,277 accounts of aggravated assaults. A staggering amount
compared to 1 forcible rape and 6 counts of aggravated assaults at the University of North Florida in
Jacksonville. But what keeps students safe on

Ferguson Shooting Research Paper
Ferguson police arrested around 150 protesters in Missouri after violence erupted amid peaceful
demonstrations on Tuesday. On Monday, Ferguson was placed under a state of emergency as
protesters marched on the streets to commemorate the first death anniversary of Michael Brown. The
demonstrators are protesting the fatal shooting of unarmed black men by white police officers,
according to The Globe and Mail. The state of emergency, which was declared by St. Louis County
Executive Steve Stenger, gave county Police Chief Jon Belmar authority over police activities in the
Ferguson area, The Denver Post reports. Police arrested 57 individuals for breaking through the
barricades put up in front of a St. Louis federal court. On Tuesday night, 22 protesters ... Show more

shooting incident. Authorities believe six individuals participated in the drive by shooting, including
18 year old Tyrone Harris. However, Harris father denied the accusations against his son. He said the
younger Harris was just running for his life when gunfire pierced the protests. Hershel Myers Jr., a 46

Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson shot unarmed black teenager Brown. Based on a probe by the
U.S. Justice Department, Ferguson officials have racial bias towards the local population, majority of
which are black Americans. However, Wilson was absolved in Brown s shooting, the report relays.
Subsequent police shootings of unarmed black locals in New York, Baltimore, Cincinnati, and Los

protests as some residents are still frustrated over what they see as lack of change in the violence and

Osmosis in Potato Tubers
Osmosis in Potato Tubers
Andrew Dickson Background
When a plant cell is bathed in a solution of the same concentration (isotonic) as its intracellular
environment, its mass and volume remain the same. This is because water enters and leaves the cells
at the same rate. There is no net loss or gain of water by osmosis.
Samples of cells can be placed in a range of solutions of different concentration. The cells will gain
water by osmosis when placed in solutions which are more dilute (hypotonic) than the intracellular
environment. They will therefore gain mass. The cells will lose water in those solutions that are more
concentrated (hypertonic) than the intracellular environment and so lose mass. The concentration of
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the potatoes expanded and increased in mass whilst others shrunk and decreased in mass.
This was caused by the diffusion of water from the cells to the sucrose solution or vice versa through
the process of osmosis. During osmosis water will diffuse across a semi permeable membrane from a
region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration.
The potato cylinders in both test tubes A and B with sucrose concentrations of 0% and 5%
respectively, had a noticeable increase in mass, whereas the potato in test tube C even though having
an increase in mass, was only marginal. This suggests that the sucrose concentration in test tube C,
which was 10%, is almost the same concentration (isotonic) as the potato s cells intracellular
environment because the mass remains relatively the same. This is because the movement of water
into and out of the cells occurs at the same rate and results in no net loss or gain of water by osmosis.
This also implies that the potato cylinders in test tubes A and B where bathed in a sucrose solution that
was more dilute (hypotonic) than the intracellular environment of the potato s cells. The cells of the
potato in test tubes A and B gained water by osmosis and therefore gained mass.
However, the results show that in test tubes D and E with sucrose concentrations of 15% and 20%
respectively, that there was a decrease in mass of the potato cylinders. This was

20,000 leagues under the sea
20,000 leagues under the sea , by Jules Verne, is about how Professor aronnax goes on a sea journey to
find a giant sea monster. In their journey Professor Aronnax and his friends find that the sea monster is
actually a giant steel submarine. Professor Aronnax and his friends are held hostage by Captain Nemo
in the Nautilus. Nemo decides to let them explore the depths of the sea with him, and his crew.
Aronnax discovers Nemo is crazy, and finds a way to escape, but once the escape, the Nautilus is
unseen. The theme of 20,00 leagues under the sea is, exploration is good, but it has downsides. The
theme is developed through the setting, the conflicts, and the resolution.
The setting is a big part in developing the theme. The setting is the depths of the ocean in a huge
submarine that you have to stay in the rest of your life. In the text it says, {Nemo says,} You will
remain on board my ship forever as free men. You will have the freedom to walk about , to look, and
even examine everything that goes on here. You may do all this since you will never have the chance
to tell what you have seen to another living soul. {Professor Aronnax said,} But Monsieur, I cried, you
can t possibly expect us to give up our families , our friends, or our country forever (50). This helps
develop the theme because, It shows that the setting (the Nautilus) Is helping them explore the ocean,

Inclusion Of The Special Education Program
A study revealed that learning is a process that happens under observable and ideal conditions to the
extent that situations, in which students are placed purposely or otherwise, had great effects on them.
There must be collaboration together between the special education program and the regular education
to hand in hand assess the overall needs of students with learning problems to cooperatively make
efficient educational strategies to match the needs of the students (Will, 1986).
Sasartawi Abdul Jabbar (2011) stated that inclusion is defined as the process of incorporating a child

Though instances are rough for the Hearing Impaired in their way of communication, students with
hearing impairment are mostly attending to regular schools and are being educated in general
education set up. Children with hearing impairment obtain special education and related services
under the federal disability category of hearing impairments (Schildroth and Hotto, 1996; Gallaudet

equipped for life, gaining ideas from the norms, enjoying a typical life experiences, helping to cope up
with the attitudes of individuals without disabilities, and withstand discrimination in the society

education there has been also an increase in the placement of students with disabilities (Friend

inclusion (full inclusion). Stinson and Antia (1999) compared the two concepts in terms of three
dimensions. For the educational setting dimension, the practical application of full inclusion requires

Mr. Stevens Failure
Humanity progresses through trial and error. Whenever an idea is conceived, we look back on either
our life or those who are thought to have a similar experience in order to make a final judgement on
which action to take. This is how the process has gone for thousands of years; but in the end we all
endure some kind of failure. We often look back and realize how obvious of a bad choice it was, and
in the end we chalk it up to another lesson learned. However, there are some of us who think a bit
more before we speak in order to avoid failure and disappointment, but how far will that tactic take
us? In Kazuo Ishiguro s, The Remains of the Day, protagonist Mr. Stevens constantly goes out of his
way to avoid failure. In his eyes, the house is relative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What makes his father a great butler is the loyalty between the butler and the employer, which Stevens
defines as dignity. The night his father passes is a great example of how he upholds dignity. Stevens
concludes that if he were to mourn his father s death instead of tending to Lord Darlington s meeting,
the night would have been wasted. ...I go so far to suggest that I did perhaps display, in the face of
everything, at least in some modest degree a dignity worthy of someone live Mr. Marshall or come to
that my father (110). Stevens also foreshadows his realization of failure through his father. In the
memory of his father passing away, one of the last phrases he hears from him is, I haven t been a good
father, haven t I? Stevens father has looked back on his his life and wondered if the dignity of being a
butler was worth his life. By focusing solely on his career, he didn t have time to bond with the love
ones the way he wanted to. Stevens eventually realizes this at the end of the novel, wondering if all the

This allowed media businesses to undertake both horizontal and vertical integration. Horizontal
integration is where a business diversifies its operation by owning subsidiaries of different sectors
(Deloitte 2012). For instance, Time Warner is known print media, news networks and movie
productions houses. On the other hand, vertical integration can be defined as businesses owning a
business with one main stream of business or practice. Thus, loosening of cross ownership restrictions
gave room for business to expand to different units and to the global market. A new approach to media
business that emerged was the convergence of business. Convergence of business is where two,
proportionately big firms, join to share audience as well as brand names (McChesney 2001). A notable
case of convergence in the U.S. media industry was the convergence between AOL and Time Warner.
While other convergences have also been experienced, the economic results have been mixed. The
AOL merger experienced difficult economic conditions that they later preferred to de converge. In all

The Portrait Of Women During Persian Painting
The Portrait of Women in Persian Painting In contrast to public life, where women are largely absent
or heavily veiled, representations and portraits of women in Persian painting provide considerable
evidence for analyzing the social and cultural implications of these imageries. The research on Persian
painting lifts the veil from the face of women and reveals the importance, richness, and variety of the
representations of women. This research paper will mainly focus on the variation of characters of
women in Persian painting from three perspectives: power, love, and society, spanning from the
thirteenth century to the twentieth century. What should be noted is that the wide spread of painted
imagery seemed to contradict the Islamic aversion to figural imagery; however, the prohibition is
mainly against sculpture and the making of idols (Nashat and Beck, page). Therefore, the depiction of
women in decorative manuscripts or Persian paintings remained and enabled the development of
Persian painting as a whole. Additionally, these paintings were mainly produced for use within the
context of private life and were ordered by ruling classes to decorate interior spaces, and luxury
manuscripts were only accessible to an educated, selected few. (reference) Women in Persian painting
were portrayed in an idealized fashion with little expression of emotion, and the range of activities and
social roles played by women in society is reflected in a limited sense. With the repetition of

Fayol’s Management Theory Is Still Relevant Today.
Introduction Henri Fayol s theory was almost a century old and was originally written in French.
Further review on several journal articles has led to an overview background of Fayol s working life
which provided the foundation that conceptualized his theory. According to Wren (2001), Fayol was
appointed as the Director in a mining company, Decazeville, where he succeeded to turnaround the
company to become profitable. Fayol was the first person to classify the functions of a manager s job.
Fayol (1949; as cited in Wren, 2001) identified five key functions in managerial works.as planning,
organising, command, coordination and control. Planning consists of any managerial work that

These human resources will be managed by managers as depicted by Fayol (1949; as cited in Wren,
2001). Employees with specific area of expertise will be tasked to act on the set goals and plans. For
example, Autodesk managers and human resource staff will profile potential candidates on their skill
sets and job scope. Companies go across borders in search of new market opportunities and in turn,
have to focus on increased productivity as competition intensifies. Organization structure and job
design are carefully selected by managers to ensure that work are coordinated well with less hurdles to
achieve the established goals in the planning process (Wren, 2001). In the Autodesk s Sales
department, the structure is similar to a family tree where the Sales Managers coordinates the works of
the Resellers and report to the Sales Director who is in charge of the department. According to
Mintzberg (1980, as cited in Bartol et al, 2011), Fayol s leading function for managerial work is
categorized under the interpersonal role of any managers. With effective leadership in place, managers
can direct and redirect employees through effective communication and use of discipline and
remuneration. This is one of the key to stay on top of the organisation goals and strategies that have
been planned. Thus, the command element of getting the optimum return from all employees in the
interest of the whole concern is critical and applicable. For example, under

Migration Is A Common Occurrences
Migration to another Country is a very difficult, challenging and a time consuming process.
Some of the factors that we can attribute to migration is assimilation to a different culture, changes in
gender roles and culture shock. The process of migrations changes between Countries either as
refugee, illegal or legal. Migrations occurs as a result of food insecurity, political reasons, and
economic opportunities. These reasons influence a person or families to migrate to a foreign land for a
better opportunities. Therefore, immigrations is a common occurrences. Immigrations is when a native
person migrates to a foreign country with the intentions. Once migrations is successful the
assimilation into the new culture may become extremely difficult. The blending of the two cultures,
which produces a subcultures that influences the new generations of family morals, values and
cultures. In the film The Namesake, the film portrays the navigation in time sequences of marriage,

My Psychology Course And Remembered About The Cerebral...
I decided to write my literature after going through one of the textbooks in my physiological
psychology course and remembered about the cerebral hemispheres, which receives sensory
information from opposite sides of the body. This got interested in the topic of cerebral hemispheres
and sensory information after a split brain operation. The split brain procedure is a surgical operation
that s used for people that have severe epilepsy that can t be controlled by the drugs they take. In the
brains of people with severe epilepsy, the nerve cells on one side of the brain are overactive and the
overactivity is relayed to the other side by the corpus callosum, a bundle of nerve cells that connect
certain parts of one side of the brain to the other. The corpus callosum enables the left and right side of
the brain to share information so that both sides knows what the other is doing and perceiving. Both
sides of the brain engage in out of control activity that stimulate each other, causing stereotypical
seizures that recur throughout the day preventing the person from living a normal life. Neurosurgeons
have discovered that severing the corpus callosum greatly reduces the often recurring seizures.
After the brain split procedure, the brain is divided into two hemispheres that work independently of
each other. Their sensory mechanisms, and motor systems no longer relay information. To the casual
observer they disconnection isn t obvious for the elementary reason that one hemisphere

Creon Is The Tragic Hero In Antigone
Identifying the tragic hero in Sophocles Antigone has been an ongoing controversy for years. It is out
of the ordinary for there to be two tragic heroes in a Greek tragedy and in Antigone there is only one.
Creon possesses some of the traits that confirms a tragic hero but he does not have all the paramount
traits. The tragic hero in Antigone is indeed Antigone, she embraces all the attitudes of a true tragic
hero. Aristotle describes the traits each character must have to be identified as a tragic hero. Antigone
possesses all of them she is persistent in her behavior, she is trustworthy and believable, she overcome
her conflict within herself, she is a good ethical person and she remains focused on becoming a better
person throughout the drama. A tragic hero also in some aspect has to go through a tragic event. To be
a tragic hero Antigone must primarily be a good ethical person. Up until the burial of her brother
Polynieces, Antigone obeyed all the laws of the land. The drama portrayed her as compassionate and
humane. Antigone s decision to bury her brother was definitely ethical and respectful, and most people
in her position would agree. Antigone in no way intentionally wanted to break the laws ... Show more

his mind because he is afraid of the things that will happen to him and his family. If Creon believes the

the virtue of how sex has derived from it natural intentions of reproducing, to a form of temporary
satisfaction or lust. Many men become fathers of a child rather it was their true intention or an
unexpected occurrence following lust. Myself not too long ago was blessed with the opportunity of
becoming a father. God has other plans for me and my girlfriend and now I am not in a position of
fatherhood or the expectancy. For this assignment, I researched and interviewed four peers of mine
that are either fathers or expecting to be fathers. My intentions or this research is to find the answer to
the question: is fatherhood the greatest accomplishment, or worse anxiety of manhood ?
Process
To answer my question about fatherhood, I interview four peers of mine: two that are new fathers, and
two that are expecting to be fathers. The two men who are expected fathers are my cousin Spencer,
and his teammate in Oregon, Nick. Ironically, they are both 21 year old college basketball players
whose significant others, will be giving birth during the process of the basketball season. The question
I asked them are as followed: what are your feelings about becoming a father , how have you been
involved in your wife s or girlfriends pregnancy , what part will you play in your child s birth , what
part would you like to play , what do you think being a good father

Ethics At A Young Age
When I think of Ethics, I think of trying to distinguish right from wrong, good from bad, and morally
doing the right thing when it comes to making decisions. Ethics occurs throughout all different parts
of our everyday lives. We begin to learn ethics at a young age and continue to learn it as we get older,
according to our jobs, or our places in life. For instance, we learned that it is wrong to take someone s
toy away, or to hurt someone when we were younger. However, once we became older, we learned it
is bad to distort information to make oneself look good. For example, in concept analysis 4 3, Brown
wants to raise the depreciation expense of the company s machines so when they are sold at a loss the
company does not look bad (Kieso, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those are things we do not do. People also tend to think of virtues such as honesty and loyalty as good
ethical standards (What is Ethics). Although there is a slight distinction between what is ethical and
what is not, there is a not a written rule book on ethics. Ethics is important in the Accounting
Profession just as much as it is important in any other profession. When in the accounting profession,
we will be faced with decisions on a daily basis that we will have to decide if they are ethical or not.
For instance, one CEO, Kenseth, is nervous about large stockholders who have been vocal about her
lately and she considers buying them out by purchasing their shares, so she can eliminate the
competition and maintain her leadership as CEO (Kieso, Weygandt, Warfield, Pg. 871). She has to
decide if she should buy them out or not. If she bought them out, that would be unethical because she
is using inside information and her authority to benefit herself. She should keep in mind what is good
for the company as a whole, and not just what is good for herself. Additionally, depending on the
company, the more particular they are, the harder it is on the Accountants to make ethical decisions.
They are constantly worrying about Am I presenting this information in a good or bad way , or Is this
right or wrong (Kieso, Weygandt, Warfield, Pg. 21). For instance, in the case where Weller wants to
implement a rule that will present the financial conditions in a

Black and White People s Contrasting Ideas About Wealth...
In the poem Nikki Rosa by Nikki Giovanni, the poet communicates through her childhood memories
her belief that white people and black people have fundamentally different ideas about wealth and
happiness. Along with her words, she uses structure, tone and imagery to convey her belief that white
people and black people see their personal life experiences differently. Wealth for black people is love,
family, and togetherness, not tangible items. A sense of community and acceptance of one another are
more valuable than having even a private toilet. White people see black wealth as a hard life and focus
on the tangible things that are missing (i.e., a toilet or a bathtub) rather than the feelings of happiness
about being together. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
white people s perceptions of that memory. The author uses tone and images throughout to compare
and contrast the concepts of black wealth and a hard life . The author combines the use of images with
blunt word combinations to make her point. For example, you always remember things like living in
Woodlawn/with no inside toilet (line 3). This image evokes the warmth of remembering a special
community with the negative of having to use outdoor facilities. Another example of this combination
of tone and imagery is how good the water felt/ when you got your bath from one/ of those/ big tubs
that folk in chicago barbecue in (line 9). Again, the poet s positive memory of feeling fresh after her
bath is combined with the fact that she had to bathe in a barbecue drum. Images are vital to the poem s
meaning. They evoke the reader s emotions and show us that love is more valuable than all things, and
money does not define happiness. This is demonstrated by the images as well as the tone of the poem.
The author shares though you re poor it isn t poverty that/ concerns you/ and though they fought a lot/
it isn t your father s drinking that makes any difference/ but only that everybody is together (line 23
24). The images and tone in this quote are powerful and impress upon the reader the strong sense of
family togetherness the poet experienced, in

Globalization and the Art Market
The expression globalization is universal and loose. In any case, it is important to consider what it
implies for the craftsmanship market and the most extensive circle of aesthetic creation. According to
Manfred B. Steger s book, Globalization: A Very Short Introduction, the term globalization refers to
the expansion and intensification of social relations and consciousness across world time and world
space (Steger). In other words, globalization applies to an arrangement of social procedures that seems
to change our present social state of debilitating nationality into one of globalist. In the book of

China outranked United States as the biggest market globally and became the center of the art market
with a share of fortyfive percent in market sales in value (McAndrew).
According to Malcolm Bull, the two economies of the art world are: the economy of attention social
media, which provides ranked artists in terms of sales and the art market
frequency and location of exhibitions and the numbers who attend them; Popularity vs. income. In
order to survive in our media based society, new elites today are those who reap the benefits by
investing their attention capital to increase their accumulated attention stocks.
Once the reputation of the invested capitals like artists and exhibitions is established, the gallery
owner or the museum curator that lend their capital in the form of the exhibition space and its
associated cultural prestige to these invested capitals are able to receive a return in the form of
enhanced attention for the museum or gallery (Bull). Ultimately, well invested cultural capital will
increase in value through increased attention. Although there is no direct correlation between the two
economies, they cannot stand alone without one another in the art market.

Gender Inequality In A Doll s House
Playwright Henrik Ibsen is often thought of as the founder of realist drama and one of the plays that
belong to Ibsen s realism period is A Doll s House, written in year 1879. This play is not only
remembered because of the impact it had on the society in the Nineteenth century but also because of
its artistic achievements. Isben depicts a female protagonist in his play, who initiates a rebellious
movement by defying her husband and forsaking her duty as a wife and mother to seek out her
individuality. During the time when this play was written, the Nineteenth century, a new literary style,
Symbolism, was developed. It involves looking at insignificant things with a new eye in order to
discover inexplicit ideas and concepts. Throughout the play, Ibsen uses distinctive objects and their
relation with the characters to externalize the presence of falsehood in the society. Using symbolism,
he creates a story in parallel, where unspoken matters such as the notion of male predominance and
the theme of lies and deception are brought to the surface. The cultural implications and the norms of
the society in the Nineteenth century are established in Ibsen s work. Issues of gender inequality and
the notion of feminism become relatively perceivable in A Doll s House. During that era women had
no rightful independence and had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of Paranormal Activity On The Forest
A small, five year old girl enters the Hoia Baciu Forest, only to get lost and not to return for five years,
when she is ten years old. When she returns, she is still wearing the same dress as the day that she got
lost in the forest and surprisingly it is still in good condition. The young girl cannot recall what
happened when she was lost inside the forest for the past five years and as a result, became a dark
person because she was lost in the forest (Swancer). This is only one of many of the strange events of
paranormal activity claimed to be inside of the Hoia Baciu Forest. Other hair raising events that take
place in the Hoia Baciu Forest includes Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) sightings, physical harm
inside of the forest, a dead vegetation zone, sightings of apparitions, electronic malfunctions, and
random bright lights. These events and even more make this forest known as the Bermuda Triangle of
Romania ( Haunted Forest ). The Hoia Baciu Forest is probably not haunted due to the history, lack of
proof, and poor research of paranormal activity inside the forest. The Hoia Baciu Forest is located in
the Cluj County of Transylvania, Romania. The location of the forest is the basis for other paranormal
activity such as vampires and the legend of Dracula originated in Transylvania, Romania. Although

Carrying a concealed handgun increases the chances of a confrontation and turning lethal injuries For
example, on Jan 13, 2014, a retired police officer with a legally concealed handgun shot and killed
another man during an argument over text messaging in a movie theater. Most existing CCW permits
are full of dangerous gaps, allowing many people to carry weapons in too many public places.
Contrary to the claims of the gun lobby, CCW laws do not decrease crime. In fact, these laws may
increase crime. More guns have reduced crime in other states. Crime has gone down everywhere in
the last decade with the growth in the economy, but it has dropped twice as fast in states that turned

Dixon Case
Bus M 401 Dixon Case Estimate of WACC for Collinsville Plant The WACC for Collinsville,
according to our estimations, came up to about 16.22% (Exhibit I). We took the average of the
unlevered betas of comparable companies, 0.91, and relevered it according to Dixon s target capital
structure. Dixon s 5 year historical debt ratio was 27.5%, but this approach would not be reliable due
to its steep downturn debt ratio from 51% in 1975 to 6% in 1979. Thus, we thought that the best
estimate of the target debt ratio is 15% for calculation of the WACC. The risk free rate used was the
long term Treasury bond rate of 9.5% while the debt rate premium was calculated by subtracting the
long term Treasury bond rate from the long term AA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, the installation of this laminate is a great project. Power savings will lead to an IRR of
16.37% for the 15% power reduction case and 18.14% for the 20% power reduction case. The NPV of
the project became positive $ 97,000 for the 15% power reduction case and $ 1.23 million for the 20%
power reduction case when discounting at the WACC (Exhibit III). Attractiveness of Collinsville
Proposal on economic grounds From an economic standpoint, the Collinsville proposal is not
attractive due to a negative NPV. This acquisition will devalue of the firm by $ 1.8 million and will
provide a 12.86% IRR which is below WACC for Collinsville plant. Namely, expected return of the
project will not satisfy estimated risk. Thus, Dixon should not invent in the plant and is recommended
to research other alternative projects if possible. In more competitive market, easier entrants can push
any economic revenue down to zero. The sole reason why the firm decides to enter the competitive
market is to take alive economic revenue. For this Collinsville plant, there is no economic driver for
Dixon to enter the market with the acquisition. Attractiveness of Collinsville Proposal on Strategic

though there is no beneficial motivation on economic ground. From the fact that Dixon Corporation

Example Of Archetypal Criticism In In The Time Of The...
An American poet once stated, Great literature is simply language charged with meaning to the utmost
possible degree (Pound). Every piece of literature has an impactful underlying meaning and can be
interpreted into universal symbols, motifs, and patterns. Archetypal Criticism is a theory based off
common myths, images, and symbols in literature. The definition of an archetypal can be defined as a
very typical example of a certain person or thing (Davidson). With that being said, readers can apply
Archetypal Criticism to In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. Alvarez uses common
character types, like the hero and the villain, and also uses the symbol of butterflies in her novel.

Poll Tax In Henry Thoreau s Resistance To Civil Government
Poll Tax
Poll tax, meaning a fee that has to be paid to satisfy taxpayer requirements in voting laws, and that the
only people who demonstrate financial tie to community were permitted for this kind of voting, was
the reason Henry Thoreau was arrested and sent to jail for the night. While in jail, he realized that
what had just happened to him was not right and needed to do something about it. The next day a
friend of his which happened to be his aunt paid his texas meaning he was free to go. Believe it or not,
Thoreau refused to be let out and wanted justice for what was illegally happening. Which is why he
wrote Resistance to Civil Government so everyone would read and know what was actually going on.
I believe that he presents an effective argument and fights for what he knows is right, which involved
poll tax, civil disobedience, and unjust laws.
One of Thoreau s strong argument points had to do with the whole situation of the poll tax. He didn t
see the need in people paying tax for something that they don t agree on nor want. He stopped paying
poll tax about six years ago because he believed that it supported the Mexican American war and the
expansion of slavery into the Southwest which he did not agree on. The next couple of days he was
out running errands and got arrested for that reason. Sam Staples, which was the cop who arrested
Thoreau, failed to take action against him for several years up until that day. In my opinion I feel like
if Staples didn t

Determining The Efficiency Of A Protocol
6.2 RESULTS
6.2.1 Simulation matrix
There are number of metrics which are helpful for deciding the efficiency of a protocol. In this work
the parameters used to evaluate the efficiency of a protocol are the packet delivery ratio, packet
statistics in the network and the throughput of the network. The protocols AODV and AODVBC are
checked against these parameters for their performance. Packet delivery ratio of the network is
improved as the mobility with respect to the number of nodes changes. Increase in the PDR (Packet
delivery ratio is because of the less number of packet drops when AODVBC is used. Fig. 4 justifies
the better performance of AODVBC routing protocol over AODV protocol in terms of less number of
packets drop.
AODV and AODVBC protocol has been tasted over nine different scenes of 10 nodes, 20 nodes, 30

Danforth Is To Blame Essay
Who will they accuse next? There are many people who are to blame for all the trials accusations of
Salem. Judge Danforth is most to blame rather than Reverend Parris due to the fact that he didn t let
anyone defend themselves, asked misleading questions with little or no evidence, and last, he was in
charge of all the trials. Initially, Danforth is more to blame than Parris because he didn t let anyone
defend themselves. For example, Danforth arrested Giles Corey. He yelled out, I have evidence. Why
will you not hear my evidence, (Miller 84). This indeed proves that Danforth didn t at all listen to his
evidence nor did he really care. Parris on the other hand did let continue his statement. Giles Corey,
sir, and a more contentious, (Miller 85). He in fact actually introduced him and let him speak.
Danforth cut him off right away and suggested right away that he should be sent to jail. In the end,
Danforth is more to blame than Parris due to the fact that Danforth didn t let people complete no even
try to support themselves. To add on to the last point, not only did Danforth not let people defend
themselves, he also used misleading questions with little or no evidence. For example, In act III

it is all his fault. Next, Danforth is supposed to be religious but he s a liar and he s a hypoctite. He was

Obligations In The Things They Carried By Tim O Brien
Obligations The definition for obligation is Something by which a person is bound or obliged to do
certain things, and which arises out of a sense of duty or results from custom, law, etc. Obligation
comes in many different forms, like how soldiers are obligated to fight for their country. This exact
example can be seen morally and socially in the novel The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien
where he tells many stories from his time in or related to the Vietnam War and tries to make the reader

Differences Between Softball And Baseball
Softball and baseball are very similar sports. People like to say they are the exact same and nothing is
different between the two. But in reality they have a key factors that make them very different from
each other. Softball and baseball are both played the same way but as you get deeper into the game
you start to see more differences.
Softball is a sport that is played by females. When softball players play in tournaments they are either
timed and those last roughly 71 to 73 minutes a game and if they are not timed then you play the
whole seven innings. The bases are 60 feet apart from each other, the pitcher s mound is 43 feet back
from the catcher, and the whole field is around 210 feet. It is common that you see girls uniforms to ...

Baseball players have the choice to either play with wooden or composite bats. Baseball bats are a lot
heavier than softball bats and they are also wider at the end. Baseballs measure between 9 to 9.25
inches in circumference and weigh between 5 to 5.25 ounces. Baseball pitchers have many different
types of pitches as well, some examples are Fastballs: Four seam, Two seam, Cutter, Splitter, and
Forkball. Breaking Balls: Curveball, Slider, Slurve, and Screwball. Changeups: Changeup, Palmball,
and Circle Changeup. Similarities for softball and baseball are that they both are played in very similar
ways. You walk up to home plate with a bat and stand in front of home plate and your goal is to hit the
ball and get on base. Four balls and you get walked and three strikes means you strikeout and go back
to the dugout. If you get three outs for the whole team then you go from on the field to hitting or
hitting to on the field. When you first start off on the field, the pitcher gets six warmup pitches and
then their last pitch gets thrown down to the shortstop standing at second base pretending to tag
someone. They both are played on either dirt or turf fields with a grass outfield. They have the same in
field fly rules and ITB rules. Each team has nine players. A pitcher, catcher, first baseman, second

The Challenges Of Command Structure In Operation Anaconda
In early January 2002, American intelligence received evidence of a large volume of enemy forces
assembling in the Shahi Kot Valley in Eastern Afghanistan. Central Command (CENTCOM), led by
General Tommy R. Franks, was directing combat operations in Afghanistan through the Coalition
Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC) and Coalition Forces Air Component Command
(CFACC). As the interest in assaulting the Shahi Kot Valley amplified, General Franks reached a
conclusion that a U.S. tactical commander was a need in Afghanistan. The decision was to assign the
10th Mountain Division Commander, Major General (MG) Franklin Hagenbeck, as the tactical
commander. In an effort to strengthen MG Hagenbeck s command authority, CENTCOM named his
headquarters Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) Mountain and gave it command and control authority
over Operation Anaconda. By having command and control authority, MG Hagenbeck would
encounter challenges with the command structure. The challenges of command structure were due to
CJTF Mountain not having tactical control (TACON) of multiple Special Operation Forces, the Joint
Special Operations Air Component (JSOAC), and friendly Afghanistan forces. These
misunderstandings were resolved during the execution phase, but rectifying the command
relationships prior would have avoided lost time and resources needed on enemy forces and positions.
In this paper, I will identify the challenges of command structure during Operation Anaconda.

Gender Differences in Trifles Essay
Trifles by Susan Glaspell is a play that is largely based on stereotypes. The most prevalent one is the
inferiority of women over men, though the play also explores the differences between genders in
general. First of all, Glaspell largely examines the repression of women in the 1900s. Women were
highly looked down upon by men, and were seen mostly as housekeepers and child bearers, and were
definitely not seen as intelligent people. The women in this play prove that the stereotypes against
them are completely wrong. The men in this story are sent out to discover the details of a murder,
while the women come along to gather some things for Mrs. Wright, who was accused of killing her
husband. Throughout the play, the men mock the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t realize that the little things do matter in solving a case like this. By worrying over trifles
(655), as Mr. Hale puts it, the women end up finding out a lot more about the murder than the men do.
The gender differences in the play are obvious and important to the story. The men in this play exhibit
some traditional stereotypes of men during the time period, such that they were aggressive and self
centered. The women seem to be more cautious, intuitive and sensitive. These traits allow the women
to come a lot closer to figuring out the murder than the men do. At one point in the play the women
find a quilt that Mrs. Wright had been working on. Mrs. Hale asks Mrs. Peters, I wonder if she was
goin to quilt it or just knot it? (658). Just then the sheriff comes down the stairs and once again
ridicules the women for worrying about such little things. They wonder if she was going to quilt it or
just knot it! (658), he exclaims. This is actually an important piece of evidence in the story, as the
ladies find out later. They realize that she was extremely nervous about something while she was

Analysis Of Where I m Calling From
Thesis Statement: In Narration and Interiority in Raymond Carver s Where I m Calling From,
Claudine Verley analyzes the narration in the short story and used it to deduce the character traits of
the story s protagonist.
Verley states that the setting in Where I m Calling From shows that Carver also struggled to overcome
a drinking problem. In the short story, there is no personal detail of the narrator. The narrator s name
remains a mystery, except for the fact that he is separated from his wife while at the same time he is
not interested in his girlfriend (Verley 91). Verley thinks that Carver decided not to share any details of
the narrator because he wants to escape his identity rather than reinforce it. Also, since there is no
equivalent life force in the narrator s existence, this shows that he remains alone at the end, and thus
making the claim that alcoholism is essentially inexplicable (Verley 91). There is an implicit
comparison between the narrator and J.P and the narrator is constantly reminded of his personal
adventures through Joe Penny s narration (Verley 91). Joe Penny is a man in his thirties and he is also
an alcoholic. In the story, the narrator empathizes with Joe Penny because he is just like him. Joe
Penny possesses an element that is in common with the narrator, an element that is beyond their
alcoholism and presence at the rehabilitation facility. Joe Penny was dropped off at a rehabilitation
center by his father in law and he tells a

The School Age Child Is Kept On The Heart Of A Child
The Young Child is constantly withheld from many of his desires by physical restrictions. We use
baby gates, fences, locks on doors and cabinets (restricted areas), cribs, playpens, leashes, and brief
commands ( NO! YES! ). We carefully watch the young child; monitoring what he sees, where he
goes, and with whom he associates. These barriers are primarily for the purpose of protecting the child
from himself from his own desire to seek his own will prior to an age when he has knowledge, self
discipline, a fear of the Lord, or help from the Holy Spirit to resist that which is harmful to him. The
School Age Child is still in bondage under the elements of the world. Gal. 4:3 Foolishness is bound in
the heart of a child. Prov. 22:15a Having foolishness in his heart, he is likely to act the part of a fool a
fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. Prov. 18:2 He constantly
desires to venture into the department store of the flesh. Nothing is more dangerous than allowing a
child to discover himself at this age. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:
who can know it? Jer. 17:9 Being at the beginning of his formal training in self discipline, he is
relatively helpless at controlling his own desires; and the fleshly nature is thought to be a fascinating
friend rather than seen to contain no good thing. Rom. 7:18 As a parent, you must protect him from his
own worst enemy his flesh, and two other predatory

Strategic Geometry Essay
International Relations of Asia
STRATEGIC GEOMETRY
This is the only region in the world where so many combinations and permutations of two three and
four and even two plus four or three plus three power games can be played on the regional chessboard
with all their complexities and variations.
introduction
The concept of strategic geometry comprises the notion that that the interactions and interconnections
between a number of political actors within a particular system of international relations, either global
or regional can be seen in terms of geometric patterns of strategic configurations. It can be a case of
simple geometry, in which A interacts with B: but in a more complex system such as that of ... Show

Geopolitical and politico economic factors have in some cases changed the content, but not the form
of the particular strategic configurations and in some cases however, we find both form and content
are changed. In my essay I will focus on this dual analysis of the content and form of the major
patterns of strategic geometry and their change over time from Cold War to post Cold War.
In order to assess the usefulness of the concept of strategic geometry, we must first see how well the
concept is expressed in the international relations of
Asia. Firstly I will briefly outline the general strategic concerns or tenets of the Cold War era, the roles
and interactions of the actors involved, and the major strategic geometric patterns this produced. The
second part of my essay will comprise an analysis of the evolution of the system, and the tenets of the
new post cold war system, drawing attention at the same time to the usefulness of the concept of
strategic geometry to explain the transition. One may even conceptualize pre Cold War international
relations in strategic geometric terms: the past is replete with instances of three way interactions
between Japan, China and the Soviet Union. According to Mandlebaum, the fate of the region has for
the last two centuries depended on the fate of three major powers China, Japan and Russia, on the
stability and tranquillity of their mutual

Dark Matter
15. Dark Matter and Dark Energy (1500 to 2000 not including references)
Explain both concepts and the differences between them. Describe the observations that led to the
hypothesis that dark matter is an important component of the Universe. Describe the suggested
constituents of the dark matter.
There have been many attempts to understand the world we live in, ranging from studies of objects as
small in size as DNA to the study of massive objects as galaxy clusters and even the whole universe.
Being focused on only what can be observed, it had been thought that the universe is completely of
visible matter for most of the past (1) (2). However, after many researches it has been found that the
universe composites of 68% dark matter, 27% dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1970s, dark matter had been discovered accidentally by astronomers Vera Rubin and Kent
Ford, they were observing galaxies and they noticed that stars far from the galaxy centre had a
velocity similar to the celestial objects closer in. The observation was unexpected due to the visible
mass of galaxies lacking the required gravity to keep the further stars in the orbit, therefore the
astronomers were faced with a missing mass problem and the concept of dark matter had been created
(16). The main problem with dark matter is that we can t observe it directly, we must indirectly study
its interaction with normal matter to be learn more about it (17). There may be a misconception
between what is observed and what is known to be there, for example; if a man is floating mid air, due
to the fact that humans are unable to fly; it can be concluded that there must be something holding the
man up there (2). In 1997, Hubble Space Telescope revealed light from far galaxies bent due a mass of
250 times greater than the visible mass which that scientists believe dark matter is the reason for (18).
Also, NASA s Chandra X ray observatory had been used by astronomers to measure the allocation of
dark matter in an immense constellation of galaxies located around a billion light year from earth, the
cluster is engulfed by a significant amount of clouds of hot gas, from the observation it had been
found that the amount of dark matter is a hundred trillion more than the mass of the sun which held
the cluster of gravities together (17). Comprehending dark matter is an important task to understand
the most vital aspects of the

Baptism During The Early Church And Medieval Eras Essay
Baptism in the Early Church and Medieval Eras All Christians know about the Great Commission, Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am
with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19 20, English Standard Version). In that
command, Jesus tells us to baptize in the name of the Trinity. What does the word baptism mean?
Baptimsa and sometimes baptismos, the Greek word origin of baptism , can translate to immersion or
bathing without any religious implications (McGowan, 2014). Nearly every Christian church practices
baptism with a religious implication; however, they do not agree on God s activity in, the
qualifications for admitting a person to, and methods of administering baptism. For instance, many
churches do not baptize people until they become adults and make a profession of faith, while others
encourage baptizing an infant soon after they are born. The practices and philosophy for baptism
changed throughout its use in the New Testament, the Early Church, and the Medieval era.
New Testament Views of Baptism Sproul articulates, the baptism of John and the New Testament rite
that we celebrate in the Christian community are not identical (2014). The type of baptism John did
was introduced in the Old Testament and directed to the Jewish nation. Between the Old Testament
and the New Testament,

The Oxford Companion to American Literature describes the play as depicting bitter, abnormal family tensions . These family tensions are clearly seen in this passage. With so many young minds placed onto one campus with little to no parental supervision the question is asked: are college campuses a safe place? Yes, most college campuses across America are safe. A study prepared by the campaign to keep guns off campus shows that the crime rate for college is monumentally lower than the rate for the city where the campus is located. For example, in 2013 the city of Jacksonville Florida had 452 cases of forcible rape and 3,277 accounts of aggravated assaults. • 6. Osmosis in Potato Tubers Osmosis in Potato Tubers Andrew Dickson Background When a plant cell is bathed in a solution of the same concentration (isotonic) as its intracellular environment, its mass and volume remain the same. This is because water enters and leaves the cells at the same rate. There is no net loss or gain of water by osmosis. Samples of cells can be placed in a range of solutions of different concentration. The cells will gain water by osmosis when placed in solutions which are more dilute (hypotonic) than the intracellular environment. They will therefore gain mass. The cells will lose water in those solutions that are more concentrated (hypertonic) than the intracellular environment and so lose mass. The concentration of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the potatoes expanded and increased in mass whilst others shrunk and decreased in mass. This was caused by the diffusion of water from the cells to the sucrose solution or vice versa through the process of osmosis. During osmosis water will diffuse across a semi permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration. The potato cylinders in both test tubes A and B with sucrose concentrations of 0% and 5% respectively, had a noticeable increase in mass, whereas the potato in test tube C even though having an increase in mass, was only marginal. This suggests that the sucrose concentration in test tube C, which was 10%, is almost the same concentration (isotonic) as the potato s cells intracellular environment because the mass remains relatively the same. This is because the movement of water into and out of the cells occurs at the same rate and results in no net loss or gain of water by osmosis. This also implies that the potato cylinders in test tubes A and B where bathed in a sucrose solution that was more dilute (hypotonic) than the intracellular environment of the potato s cells. The cells of the potato in test tubes A and B gained water by osmosis and therefore gained mass. However, the results show that in test tubes D and E with sucrose concentrations of 15% and 20% respectively, that there was a decrease in mass of the potato cylinders. This was ... • 14. The Portrait Of Women During Persian Painting The Portrait of Women in Persian Painting In contrast to public life, where women are largely absent or heavily veiled, representations and portraits of women in Persian painting provide considerable evidence for analyzing the social and cultural implications of these imageries. The research on Persian painting lifts the veil from the face of women and reveals the importance, richness, and variety of the representations of women. This research paper will mainly focus on the variation of characters of women in Persian painting from three perspectives: power, love, and society, spanning from the thirteenth century to the twentieth century. What should be noted is that the wide spread of painted imagery seemed to contradict the Islamic aversion to figural imagery; however, the prohibition is mainly against sculpture and the making of idols (Nashat and Beck, page). Therefore, the depiction of women in decorative manuscripts or Persian paintings remained and enabled the development of Persian painting as a whole. Additionally, these paintings were mainly produced for use within the context of private life and were ordered by ruling classes to decorate interior spaces, and luxury manuscripts were only accessible to an educated, selected few. (reference) Women in Persian painting were portrayed in an idealized fashion with little expression of emotion, and the range of activities and social roles played by women in society is reflected in a limited sense. I decided to write my literature after going through one of the textbooks in my physiological psychology course and remembered about the cerebral hemispheres, which receives sensory information from opposite sides of the body. This got interested in the topic of cerebral hemispheres and sensory information after a split brain operation. The split brain procedure is a surgical operation that s used for people that have severe epilepsy that can t be controlled by the drugs they take. In the brains of people with severe epilepsy, the nerve cells on one side of the brain are overactive and the overactivity is relayed to the other side by the corpus callosum, a bundle of nerve cells that connect certain parts of one side of the brain to the other. The corpus callosum enables the left and right side of the brain to share information so that both sides knows what the other is doing and perceiving. Both sides of the brain engage in out of control activity that stimulate each other, causing stereotypical seizures that recur throughout the day preventing the person from living a normal life. Neurosurgeons have discovered that severing the corpus callosum greatly reduces the often recurring seizures. After the brain split procedure, the brain is divided into two hemispheres that work independently of each other. Their sensory mechanisms, and motor systems no longer relay information. To the casual observer they disconnection isn t obvious for the elementary reason that one hemisphere ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Any man can become a father on the virtue of how sex has derived from it natural intentions of reproducing, to a form of temporary satisfaction or lust. Many men become fathers of a child rather it was their true intention or an unexpected occurrence following lust. Myself not too long ago was blessed with the opportunity of becoming a father. God has other plans for me and my girlfriend and now I am not in a position of fatherhood or the expectancy. For this assignment, I researched and interviewed four peers of mine that are either fathers or expecting to be fathers. My intentions or this research is to find the answer to the question: is fatherhood the greatest accomplishment, or worse anxiety of manhood ? Process To answer my question about fatherhood, I interview four peers of mine: two that are new fathers, and two that are expecting to be fathers. The two men who are expected fathers are my cousin Spencer, and his teammate in Oregon, Nick. Ironically, they are both 21 year old college basketball players whose significant others, will be giving birth during the process of the basketball season. The question I asked them are as followed: what are your feelings about becoming a father , how have you been involved in your wife s or girlfriends pregnancy , what part will you play in your child s birth , what part would you like to play , what do you think being a good father ... • 24. Ethics At A Young Age When I think of Ethics, I think of trying to distinguish right from wrong, good from bad, and morally doing the right thing when it comes to making decisions. Ethics occurs throughout all different parts of our everyday lives. We begin to learn ethics at a young age and continue to learn it as we get older, according to our jobs, or our places in life. For instance, we learned that it is wrong to take someone s toy away, or to hurt someone when we were younger. However, once we became older, we learned it is bad to distort information to make oneself look good. For example, in concept analysis 4 3, Brown wants to raise the depreciation expense of the company s machines so when they are sold at a loss the company does not look bad (Kieso, ... Although there is a slight distinction between what is ethical and what is not, there is a not a written rule book on ethics. Ethics is important in the Accounting Profession just as much as it is important in any other profession. When in the accounting profession, we will be faced with decisions on a daily basis that we will have to decide if they are ethical or not. For instance, one CEO, Kenseth, is nervous about large stockholders who have been vocal about her lately and she considers buying them out by purchasing their shares, so she can eliminate the competition and maintain her leadership as CEO (Kieso, Weygandt, Warfield, Pg. 871). She has to decide if she should buy them out or not. If she bought them out, that would be unethical because she is using inside information and her authority to benefit herself. She should keep in mind what is good for the company as a whole, and not just what is good for herself. Additionally, depending on the company, the more particular they are, the harder it is on the Accountants to make ethical decisions. They are constantly worrying about Am I presenting this information in a good or bad way , or Is this right or wrong (Kieso, Weygandt, Warfield, Pg. 21). • 25. Black and White People s Contrasting Ideas About Wealth... In the poem Nikki Rosa by Nikki Giovanni, the poet communicates through her childhood memories her belief that white people and black people have fundamentally different ideas about wealth and happiness. Along with her words, she uses structure, tone and imagery to convey her belief that white people and black people see their personal life experiences differently. Wealth for black people is love, family, and togetherness, not tangible items. A sense of community and acceptance of one another are more valuable than having even a private toilet. White people see black wealth as a hard life and focus on the tangible things that are missing (i.e., a toilet or a bathtub) rather than the feelings of happiness about being together. The ... The author combines the use of images with blunt word combinations to make her point. For example, you always remember things like living in Woodlawn/with no inside toilet (line 3). This image evokes the warmth of remembering a special community with the negative of having to use outdoor facilities. Another example of this combination of tone and imagery is how good the water felt/ when you got your bath from one/ of those/ big tubs that folk in chicago barbecue in (line 9). Again, the poet s positive memory of feeling fresh after her bath is combined with the fact that she had to bathe in a barbecue drum. Images are vital to the poem s meaning. They evoke the reader s emotions and show us that love is more valuable than all things, and money does not define happiness. This is demonstrated by the images as well as the tone of the poem. The author shares though you re poor it isn t poverty that/ concerns you/ and though they fought a lot/ it isn t your father s drinking that makes any difference/ but only that everybody is together (line 23 24). • 28. Gender Inequality In A Doll s House Playwright Henrik Ibsen is often thought of as the founder of realist drama and one of the plays that belong to Ibsen s realism period is A Doll s House, written in year 1879. This play is not only remembered because of the impact it had on the society in the Nineteenth century but also because of its artistic achievements. Isben depicts a female protagonist in his play, who initiates a rebellious movement by defying her husband and forsaking her duty as a wife and mother to seek out her individuality. During the time when this play was written, the Nineteenth century, a new literary style, Symbolism, was developed. It involves looking at insignificant things with a new eye in order to discover inexplicit ideas and concepts. Throughout the play, Ibsen uses distinctive objects and their relation with the characters to externalize the presence of falsehood in the society. Using symbolism, he creates a story in parallel, where unspoken matters such as the notion of male predominance and the theme of lies and deception are brought to the surface. The cultural implications and the norms of the society in the Nineteenth century are established in Ibsen s work. One of Thoreau s strong argument points had to do with the whole situation of the poll tax. He didn t see the need in people paying tax for something that they don t agree on nor want. He stopped paying poll tax about six years ago because he believed that it supported the Mexican American war and the expansion of slavery into the Southwest which he did not agree on. The Challenges Of Command Structure In Operation Anaconda In early January 2002, American intelligence received evidence of a large volume of enemy forces assembling in the Shahi Kot Valley in Eastern Afghanistan. Central Command (CENTCOM), led by General Tommy R. Franks, was directing combat operations in Afghanistan through the Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC) and Coalition Forces Air Component Command (CFACC). As the interest in assaulting the Shahi Kot Valley amplified, General Franks reached a conclusion that a U.S. tactical commander was a need in Afghanistan. The decision was to assign the 10th Mountain Division Commander, Major General (MG) Franklin Hagenbeck, as the tactical commander. In an effort to strengthen MG Hagenbeck s command authority, CENTCOM named his headquarters Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) Mountain and gave it command and control authority over Operation Anaconda. By having command and control authority, MG Hagenbeck would encounter challenges with the command structure. The challenges of command structure were due to CJTF Mountain not having tactical control (TACON) of multiple Special Operation Forces, the Joint Special Operations Air Component (JSOAC), and friendly Afghanistan forces. Analysis Of Where I m Calling From Thesis Statement: In Narration and Interiority in Raymond Carver s Where I m Calling From, Claudine Verley analyzes the narration in the short story and used it to deduce the character traits of the story s protagonist. Verley states that the setting in Where I m Calling From shows that Carver also struggled to overcome a drinking problem. In the short story, there is no personal detail of the narrator. The narrator s name remains a mystery, except for the fact that he is separated from his wife while at the same time he is not interested in his girlfriend (Verley 91). Verley thinks that Carver decided not to share any details of the narrator because he wants to escape his identity rather than reinforce it. Also, since there is no equivalent life force in the narrator s existence, this shows that he remains alone at the end, and thus making the claim that alcoholism is essentially inexplicable (Verley 91). There is an implicit comparison between the narrator and J.P and the narrator is constantly reminded of his personal adventures through Joe Penny s narration (Verley 91). Joe Penny is a man in his thirties and he is also an alcoholic. In the story, the narrator empathizes with Joe Penny because he is just like him. Joe Penny possesses an element that is in common with the narrator, an element that is beyond their alcoholism and presence at the rehabilitation facility. Joe Penny was dropped off at a rehabilitation center by his father in law and he tells a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The School Age Child Is Kept On The Heart Of A Child The Young Child is constantly withheld from many of his desires by physical restrictions. We use baby gates, fences, locks on doors and cabinets (restricted areas), cribs, playpens, leashes, and brief commands ( NO! YES! ). We carefully watch the young child; monitoring what he sees, where he goes, and with whom he associates. These barriers are primarily for the purpose of protecting the child from himself from his own desire to seek his own will prior to an age when he has knowledge, self discipline, a fear of the Lord, or help from the Holy Spirit to resist that which is harmful to him. The School Age Child is still in bondage under the elements of the world. Gal. 4:3 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child. Prov. 22:15a Having foolishness in his heart, he is likely to act the part of a fool a fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself. Prov. 18:2 He constantly desires to venture into the department store of the flesh. Nothing is more dangerous than allowing a child to discover himself at this age. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jer. 17:9 Being at the beginning of his formal training in self discipline, he is relatively helpless at controlling his own desires; and the fleshly nature is thought to be a fascinating friend rather than seen to contain no good thing. Rom. 7:18 As a parent, you must protect him from his own worst enemy his flesh, and two other predatory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Strategic Geometry Essay International Relations of Asia STRATEGIC GEOMETRY This is the only region in the world where so many combinations and permutations of two three and four and even two plus four or three plus three power games can be played on the regional chessboard with all their complexities and variations. introduction The concept of strategic geometry comprises the notion that that the interactions and interconnections between a number of political actors within a particular system of international relations, either global or regional can be seen in terms of geometric patterns of strategic configurations. It can be a case of simple geometry, in which A interacts with B: but in a more complex system such as that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geopolitical and politico economic factors have in some cases changed the content, but not the form of the particular strategic configurations and in some cases however, we find both form and content are changed. In my essay I will focus on this dual analysis of the content and form of the major patterns of strategic geometry and their change over time from Cold War to post Cold War. In order to assess the usefulness of the concept of strategic geometry, we must first see how well the concept is expressed in the international relations of Asia. Firstly I will briefly outline the general strategic concerns or tenets of the Cold War era, the roles and interactions of the actors involved, and the major strategic geometric patterns this produced. The second part of my essay will comprise an analysis of the evolution of the system, and the tenets of the new post cold war system, drawing attention at the same time to the usefulness of the concept of strategic geometry to explain the transition. One may even conceptualize pre Cold War international relations in strategic geometric terms: the past is replete with instances of three way interactions between Japan, China and the Soviet Union. According to Mandlebaum, the fate of the region has for the last two centuries depended on the fate of three major powers China, Japan and Russia, on the stability and tranquillity of their mutual ... • 44. Dark Matter 15. Dark Matter and Dark Energy (1500 to 2000 not including references) Explain both concepts and the differences between them. Describe the observations that led to the hypothesis that dark matter is an important component of the Universe. Describe the suggested constituents of the dark matter. There have been many attempts to understand the world we live in, ranging from studies of objects as small in size as DNA to the study of massive objects as galaxy clusters and even the whole universe. Being focused on only what can be observed, it had been thought that the universe is completely of visible matter for most of the past (1) (2). However, after many researches it has been found that the universe composites of 68% dark matter, 27% dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the 1970s, dark matter had been discovered accidentally by astronomers Vera Rubin and Kent Ford, they were observing galaxies and they noticed that stars far from the galaxy centre had a velocity similar to the celestial objects closer in. The observation was unexpected due to the visible mass of galaxies lacking the required gravity to keep the further stars in the orbit, therefore the astronomers were faced with a missing mass problem and the concept of dark matter had been created (16). The main problem with dark matter is that we can t observe it directly, we must indirectly study its interaction with normal matter to be learn more about it (17). There may be a misconception between what is observed and what is known to be there, for example; if a man is floating mid air, due to the fact that humans are unable to fly; it can be concluded that there must be something holding the man up there (2). In 1997, Hubble Space Telescope revealed light from far galaxies bent due a mass of 250 times greater than the visible mass which that scientists believe dark matter is the reason for (18). Also, NASA s Chandra X ray observatory had been used by astronomers to measure the allocation of dark matter in an immense constellation of galaxies located around a billion light year from earth, the cluster is engulfed by a significant amount of clouds of hot gas, from the observation it had been found that the amount of dark matter is a hundred trillion more than the mass of the sun which held the cluster of gravities together (17). Comprehending dark matter is an important task to understand the most vital aspects of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Baptism During The Early Church And Medieval Eras Essay Baptism in the Early Church and Medieval Eras All Christians know about the Great Commission, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19 20, English Standard Version). In that command, Jesus tells us to baptize in the name of the Trinity. What does the word baptism mean? Baptimsa and sometimes baptismos, the Greek word origin of baptism , can translate to immersion or bathing without any religious implications (McGowan, 2014). Nearly every Christian church practices baptism with a religious implication; however, they do not agree on God s activity in, the qualifications for admitting a person to, and methods of administering baptism. For instance, many churches do not baptize people until they become adults and make a profession of faith, while others encourage baptizing an infant soon after they are born. The practices and philosophy for baptism changed throughout its use in the New Testament, the Early Church, and the Medieval era. New Testament Views of Baptism Sproul articulates, the baptism of John and the New Testament rite that we celebrate in the Christian community are not identical (2014). The type of baptism John did was introduced in the Old Testament and directed to the Jewish nation. Between the Old Testament and the New Testament, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
