Essay On Jefferson Davis Death
Abraham Lincoln, the president of the United States of America, had a difficult job. Not only did this
man strive to unite the country once again, he also had the responsibility of deciding the fate of
Jefferson Davis, the former president of the Confederate States of America. Many Northerns believed
Jefferson should at least be imprisoned, if not put to death for his actions. Southerners, on the other
hand, viewed Davis as a hero and could not bear the thought of their hero being punished. Wanting to
keep the recently re united country at peace with one another, President Lincoln was left in a bind.
Former Confederate President Jefferson Davis was arrested on May 10, 1865 at Irwinville, Georgia by
Northern soldiers. He was then transferred to Fort Monroe, Virginia where he was placed in prison for
two years. He was never tried for treason for fear that Davis would be able to successfully prove that
succession was legal. In May of 1867, almost exactly two years later, Davis was released from prison
on bail due to the funds of several wealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While I believe Davis should have had some sort of punishment, I would not go as far to believe he
should be put to death, like many Northerns. I do not believe in the death sentence. The death sentence
is no different from murder, regardless of what the reasoning is; it is taking a life. In Exodus 20, God
gives the commandment, You shall not murder. The death sentence is murder.
Instead of a death sentence, I would sentence Jefferson Davis to life in prison. This man did commit
treason by leading a country that was viewed as illegally seceding. However, Davis did not desire to
become president of the Confederate States of America. He rather had the desire to be the general of
the Confederate states. A life in prison would ensure that Jefferson

Fort Worth Opera Research Paper
Opera is a timeless music that transcends the generations. I would like to go out on a limb, and suggest
that the average young person does not really give much thought to opera. However, it is a music that
will last much longer than the popular tunes that they listen to on their music player today. The great
thing about going to the opera is the opportunity to experience classical music at its best. Actually,
there is something very soothing and seductive about pure classical music set to a stage filled with
actors acting out the human condition in some form. One of the perks concerning living in the Fort
Worth area is the number of wonderful opera performances that are available to the general public.

Kelly Outbreak Analysis
The Kelly outbreak is a famous phenomenon in Australia s colonial history. Whilst some people prefer
to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians
view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community
and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying
causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic
factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the
Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad
socio economic developments in rural Victoria at the time. In his article, Ned Kelly s Sympathisers,
Doug Morrissey suggests that Kelly s Irish heritage was largely responsible for the Kelly outbreak 1.
To support his claim, he points to the intense emotional relationships in the Quinn/Kelly clan and the
high percentage of Irish sympathisers among Ned s supporters 2. Ned Kelly was clearly imbued with a
sense of his Irish heritage, but the evidence does not suggest that this was a major contributing factor
in the outbreak. Public sympathy, it seemed, crossed social and ethnic barriers 3 and was quite
widespread, especially after the Euroa National Bank robbery, where the efficiency, lack of violence
and manner of the gang were well noted 4. Furthermore, Ned once stated that he

My Rifle Research Paper
I have got very many gifts and a bunch of unique, special gifts. This unreal item was a .308 caliber
rifle. It was such an outrage of excitement as my parents were giving it to me. Three aspects of the gun
stood out to me it had a great design to it, the size of the caliber, and the size of the gun itself. The
design was an option of my choice, I had always wanted a rifle like this one. My rifle, in my opinion,
has one of the most distinctive designs for a rifle. Starting at the stock of the gun, it was sleek, natural
camouflage , synthetic stock. As you go up the gun, you arrive at the metal parts, and this matte finish
of black really matched the stock, which gave it my attention as I focused on it at first glance. The
barrel, at the peak of the gun adjacent to the opening system, was thick, so if I was to shoot multiple
times in a row the barrel wouldn t warp after constant heating through the violent explosion of the
cartridge as the bullets races through the end of the barrel. On the other hand, the bullet measurements
were just as important. At the time I was given the gun, I wasn t very old or strong. If I was too have
received this rifle in any caliber bigger than .308 I wouldn t have been able to shoot it. On the other
side, the deer I was to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I mentioned before, I was not a strong kid, for if the gun was to heavy for me, I wouldn t have had
the chance to shoot it till recently. As for what came with moderately strong, I wasn t very tall,
therefore meaning I couldn t have a long gun or I couldn t reach the trigger to pull it as I was hunting.
The size of the gun was probably the most important thing to me because I hadn t ever had a gun
before this one that would fit me as perfectly as the one I have described here does. Though it couldn t
be the rifle it is if its vital aspects weren t all put

The Effects Of Parallel Trading In The Baby Formula Market
What happens when Chinese consumers lose confidence in the ability of domestic producers to bring
safe and quality products to market, especially when said products aim to fulfill an essential human
need the safe nurturing of infants? The wake of the Chinese baby formula scandal has not subsided,
with Chinese consumers rejecting domestic outputs with preference for northern produced goods
(Nguyen, Chi Chur Choa Hwang, 2016, 1). Compounding Chinese consumer sentiment, recent trends
in market liberalization and the growing ease of ecommerce have contributed to rising parallel trading
activity. Parallel trading is the practice of cross border travellers taking advantage of the price
difference, or arbitrage, of certain products produced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, daigous often undercut any existing quotas, tariffs, and customs regulations in the
importing country, leading to market distortions there as well.
In Northern countries, parallel trading has lead to severe supply shortages in the home market, leaving
consumers frustrated and empty handed (Korporaal, 2017). This practice does not go unnoticed, as
consumers and producers, as well as governing authorities, are forced to take action. In Australia,
some retailers have implemented quotas on infant formula, while Hong Kong, a market facing similar
daigou activity to Australia, has limited the quantity of formula that travellers can take through
customs at 1.8 kg (Nguyen et al., 2016).
Price discrimination is the practice of offering the same product to different consumers at different
prices. This policy allows the producer to exploit the differences in elasticity of demand between
buyers. A seller of baby formula could charge a higher price in Chinese markets where buyers are
willing to pay high prices, and lower prices in the Australian market where buyers are less price
sensitive. Price discrimination allows the producer to capture a higher profit between both markets
than if they were charging a uniform price (Maskus, 2000, 1275).

Analysis of Intra-Asia Market
Chapter 4: Findings and Discussions
In the first section of this chapter, the interview result is being analysed. Following that, the research
done in phase 1 and the interview results gathering in phase 2 is combined to formulate the
Opportunities, threats and uncertainties in Intra Asia container trade. Finally in the last section of this
chapter, we will forecast the future outlook of Intra Asia for the next five years.
4.1 Analysis of Intra Asia Market
We had tailored our interview questions to gather professional opinions on the future outlook of Intra
Asia and Intra Asia container shipping and how they could impact and affect the ship owners and
operators (Appendix D).
Based on the interviews results (Appendix E) we had gathered, 80% of the respondents believe that
the current shipping market is now in its recovery from the longest downturn in three decades in the
shipping industry. It is largely due to the cause of overcapacity of ships in the market that have
depressed freight rates since the end of a shipping boom in 2008 (Shipping Industry sees an end to
five year downturn, 2014). The current recovery seem to be fragile in Europe, though it is gaining
traction in the US and UK, while emerging market is showing signs of slow growth (Howard, 2014).
All the main shipping segments remain heavy on the supply side, causing great volatility in freight
rates (Figure 10). Fortunately, the industry has now improved its ability to apply counter balancing
measures that had

The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber By Hemingway
In Hemingway s short story, The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber Hemingway uses the writer
s craft of perspective to develop the characterization of the three main protagonists.Wilson, Mrs.
Macomber, and Macomber s characterization is developed through multiple perspectives which create
a negative tone throughout the story.
First, Mr. Wilson is presented as a judgemental, professional hunter that slowly shifts and changes in
how he feels to Macomber. Wilson s judgemental side is presented through his internal dialogue and
how he feels about Macomber. On Page 4 he says So he s a bloody four letter man as well as a bloody
coward. I rather liked him too until today. But how is one to know about an American? Wilson get s

Macomber is a cruel and remorseless person who won t leave Macomber. However, later in the story
Mrs. Macomber starts to shift in her personality and starts to get afraid of what is to come. On page 4
Mrs. Macomber is being cruel and says What importance is there to whether Francis is any good at
killing lions? That s not his trade. That s Mr. Wilson s trade. Mr. Wilson is really very impressive
killing anything. Here, Mrs. Macomber is directly humiliating her husband through her comparison of
Macomber to Wilson. She is trying to undermine Macomber and make him feel ill about the lion
because she is mad about the incident. Through Hemingway s use of a third person narrator the
readers able to see how Mrs. Macomber hates and disrespects her husband for what he did. The
dialogue of Mrs. Macomber shows the readers what she does daily and how he had had to put up with
it for his whole marriage. Later, Mrs Macomber and Macomber have a row but both of them come to
the same conclusion, that they won t leave each other. It s the morning after Mrs. Macomber slept with
Wilson and Macomber is getting riled up. Mrs. Macomber then says If you make a scene I ll leave
you, darling, she adds on later No, she said. I won t leave you and you ll behave yourself (Page 24).
This shows how Macomber is mad about the way her husband is acting and threatens him because of
it. Then, the readers see how even if they both say that they both won t leave other. Mrs Macomber is
there for Macomber s wealth while Macomber is their for Mrs. Macomber s beauty. The dialogue
between the couple shows the readers how they want to leave but both know that they won t. This use
of insight into the characters reactions to each other makes the story way much deeper and gets the
readers more involved. After the row, Macomber starts to change which makes Mrs. Macomber
nervous and scared. Mr. Macomber is changing and Mrs. Macomber is getting nervous. She then

Models of Corrections Essay
The history of correctional thought and practice has been marked by enthusiasm for new approaches,
disillusionment with these approaches, and then substitution of yet other tactics (Clear 59). During the
mid 1900s, many changes came about for the system of corrections in America. Once a new idea goes
sour, a new one replaces it. Prisons shifted their focus from the punishment of offenders to the
rehabilitation of offenders, then to the reentry into society, and back to incarceration. As times and the
needs of the criminal justice system changed, new prison models were organized in hopes of lowering
the crime rates in America. The three major models of prisons that were developed were the medical,
model, the community model, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many criminals re offend after they are released because they were put back into society with no
money and no job and no place to live. Gradually allowing criminals to reenter society and helping
them to find jobs will put many on the right track. This program allows people a second chance and
the possibility to change their lives around. This program seems to be a necessity yet it will not work
for everyone. Not all criminals should be let out on the street again. Just because you give a murderer
a job and some money and secure them a place to stay, you have no idea whether they have the desire
to kill again . This program would work for those that were ready to reenter society and would be
extremely beneficial to those who have nothing on the outside to help them. The third aim at bettering
the system of corrections in America was the idea of the crime control model. The crime control
model was based on the assumption that criminal behavior can be controlled by more use of
incarceration and other forms of strict supervision (Clear 57). This new model was designed with the
intent to incarcerate prisoners for longer periods of time. Under this program the death penalty was
reinstated in thirty seven states. This model was thought to have worked best for violent offenders
such as drug dealers and murderers. It seems as though this program was created to scare people from
committing a crime because of the strict punishment that would occur.

who they are no matter how different they might be from us. There are three literary pieces that help
us illustrate Barbara Jordan s quote. What of This Goldfish Would You Wish? , Universal Declaration
of Independence , and Texas V. Johnson, These literary pieces show us how to accept people for who

quote is saying that just because one person does something wrong we can t judge other people for
someone else s wrongs. This quote goes along with Barbara Jordan s quote because even though
someone has done something wrong and they are different from ourselves we have to be willing to
accept someone. (Brennan 2). The way to preserve the flag s special role is not to punish those who

Emotional Intelligence And Psychological Intelligence
Have you ever thought about how many emotions you have in one single day? Now think about how
many emotions you have had just at work alone. Emotions are extremely important and can rule our
lives daily. We make decisions off of them, choose activities based on them and the way we react in
situations can depend on them. When digging deeper you will find a concept called emotional
intelligence which puts you in tune with not only your emotions but the emotions of others as well.
This paper will fully explain emotional intelligence along with examples of the concept, examine the
theories of emotional intelligence compared to traditional intelligence quotient , suggest reasons why
leaders need emotional intelligence in today s workforce, speculate on the consequences when leaders
do not possess emotional intelligence, explore elements of emotional intelligence that leaders must be
aware of to increase leadership effectiveness and finally recommend a strategy that the organization
could undertake in order to improve social skills of leaders within the organization and thereby
positively influence their emotional intelligence.
Emotional intelligence is the ability to monitor the feelings and emotions of the self and of others and
to use this information to guide tone s behaviors. (Wicks, Nakisher, Grimm, 2014). A person with low
emotional intelligence will get uneasy and think irrational when a high priority project is due and their

Fahrenheit 451 And Faber Analysis
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success Henry Ford.
This quote relates to Ray Bradbury s portrayal of the relationship between Guy Montag and Professor
Faber in Fahrenheit 451. Montag and Faber have their share of differences and commonalities
throughout the course of the story, but their similarities overshadow their differences. The two come
together to form an unlikely bond as they both learn they each share the same passion for books. Since
books are outlawed in this dystopian society, they each need to work together in order to execute their
potentially dangerous plans to plant books in the homes of unsuspecting firemen to prevent the
continuation of books being burned and destroyed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their differences cause their relationship to be stressful. Montag is a risk taker in contrast to Faber
who enjoys sitting on the sidelines and observing. For years, Faber could ve been taking action and
began working against the government and the firemen, but he was petrified at the thought of the
possible consequences he may have suffered if he was caught. Montag, on the other hand, wanted to
do something as soon as he began reading the books. When Montag makes the pivotal decision to read
poetry to Mildred and her guests as Faber listens is an example of a stressful event in their
relationship. Faber says Montag, You ll ruin everything, Shut up you fool. (Bradbury 94). In this
statement, Faber is anxious and concerned that Montag may have just sabotaged their entire plan.
Montag not only puts his life at stake when he exposes himself as possessing literature, but he also
risks Faber s life too, as he also is in possession of books. As a result of this, Montag and Faber s

Gloria Play Analysis
The play that was chosen to be adapted to film was, Gloria. Gloria , is written by Branden Jacobs
Jenkins. The play was first performed in the theater on May 28, 2015 and has only remained on the
stage. Gloria , is definitely a cinematic piece of work, which means it has qualities that will adapt well
into a film. What qualities in the play make it cinematic? First, the dialogue in the play will certainly
adapt well when creating a film. The structure of the play is another cinematic quality as well as the
jump cuts throughout the course of the performance. Gloria , is a two act play. When adapting this
play to film, one important aspect is the different shots that are being filmed. Whose face do you want
showing? What angle is the camera? Do you want the character being filmed to look superior or
weak? Also, how the locations are going to come into play for the making of the film. The climactic
scene is when Gloria opens fire in the office and kills almost everyone including herself. This scene is
at the end of Act 1 on pages mid 29 30. I would choose for the killing scene to not be shown but
mainly heard. Running and reactions are the only parts of people that I want seen in the film. In the

Northwest Equipment Corporation (NEC) acquired Capital Mortgage Insurance Company (CMI). Jim
Doland and Frank Randall, respectively senior vice and company president of CMI transform the
company into an ancillary of its buyer. Moreover, CMI s existing trade is centered on mortgage
insurance. To that end, the company deals with banks and lending institutions. Added to that, CMI
wants to extend its activities in the real estate market. With this in mind, the mortgage company
wishes to acquire Corporate Transfer Services in Chicago (CTS) to compete with Merrill Lynch,
leader of mortgage in the marketplace.
Elliot Burr manages CTS, a real state company based in Chicago. Burr s company provides relocation
services to diverse companies all over the country.
CMI retains key employees to handle CTS s current business interests, and to encourage a good

The Prestigious Life of Edward Angle
During the years of 1855 through 1930, Edward Hartley, the mind behind orthodontics we know
today, was documented by those around him. Picking up all of his achievements, faults, techniques,
anything there was needed to know about him. A farm boy with an idea that would change lives and
the way things were. Angle devoted his life designing, defining and refining orthodontic techniques
that are still used to the present day. Would you want your teeth to be realigned in the 1850 s? Who
would go for a mouth full of metal and in some cases a metal head piece? Ask the same question for
today s society; everyone. The study of orthodontics has changed the lives of many people today and
is a highly preferred privilege we have today.

Children Should Not Adopt Children Essay
Society views adoption as a wonderful, beautiful thing that could be a positive effect for the adopted
child, but cannot see the negative effects it has on the family as a whole or the biological children.
From the perspectives of the parents adopting, the biological children, and of the adopted child,
adoption is much more complicated than it initially seems. Families that already have biological
children should not adopt children.
Growing from a family of four to a family of seven has had the biggest affect on my life, both positive
and negative. My parents brought my three adopted siblings permanently into the family when I was
four, but they were practically living with us since I was born. Living with a family of seven in a little,
run down, brown rustic colored, and memory filled mobile home in a community of similar but
uniquely individual trailers lined up next to each other having their own story to tell holds a very
impacting memory of my life. People may think that adopting children into a family who already have
biological children is a great option, but in the process do not consider their own child s happiness in
the near future or the problems and struggles caused by a non blood related sibling forced into their
life. There was one time I got so mad at Alexis because we were fighting, for something I can t even

truth or is it just a cover up? Does mental illness really cause crime? There are so many questions all
with varying supplementary scenarios however, I will focus on my belief that although mental illness
does not cause crime and violence, it does contribute to it. I believe that the first and most important
problem in this controversy is the lack of understanding what both mental illness and crime is. Robert
Schug refers to both terms as umbrella terms in Stacy Mallicoat s Crime and Criminal Justice:
Concepts and Controversies (2016). Mental illness consists of numerous complex conditions that
alters one s state of mind with ranging severities and crime consists of varying levels of behaviors and
actions that are against the law. The relationship that exists between mental illness and crime is not
only crucial, but it is complex. When a crime is committed, ultimately the goal is for the offender to be
rightfully charged and punished. But let s say one who suffers from schizophrenia was

The Role Of Terrorism In The United States
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines terrorism as, the use of violent acts to frighten the people in
an area as a way of trying to achieve a political goal (Terrorism, n.d.). The various definitions of
terrorism are typically close in comparison but can carry a slightly different tone when used by a
government for purposes of the law.
The U.S. State Department is guided by the definition of terrorism contained in Title 22 of the US
Code, Section 2656f(d), which states that terrorism is a premeditated, politically motivated violence
perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually
intended to influence an audience (Maniscalco, Christen, 2011).
Furthermore, the term terrorism is defined by the Federal Bureau of Investigations in the code of
Federal Regulations as the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate
or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or
social segment thereof in furtherance of political or social objectives (Maniscalco, Christen, 2011). ...

The Power Of The Crown And The Authority Of The Government
The power of the crown and the authority of the government is limited by the Declaration of Man and
the Citizen. One situation where the government is limited is where Men are born free and remain
equal in rights. (1789, Art, 1, DRMC.) The government must give all men equal rights. The rights of
man include liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression. (1789, Art, 2, DRMC.) Both the
power of the crown and the authority of the government are limited by (1789, Art, 3, DRMC.) no
individual can exercise authority which does not emanate from it expressly. If authority does not
originate directly from the crown or a member of government, they may not exercise said authority.
The law has the right to prohibit only those actions harmful to society. (1789, Art, 5, DRMC.) Neither
the power of the crown nor government can prohibit an individual from doing something that is not
harmful to society or force an individual to do what it does not order by obstructing or changing the
law. The right to concur personally or through their representative in its formation... must be the same
for everyone. Authority must give the same rights to everyone to concur personally or through their
representative. (1789, Art, 6, DRMC.) In Article 8, the government or power of crown may only
punish a person if strictly and plainly necessary. (1789, Art, 8, DRMC.) If unneccessary, a person may

Figurative Language In The Bell Jar
Human Isolation
As the author of the book The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath s writing can be associated with her real life
struggles. Living as a woman in the 50 s, Sylvia s realities helped her paint a truthful picture of what it
was like to be a woman with depression during this time. Although her openness to express her real
life struggle through text was remarkable, this topic of mental health and depression was unheard of at
the time. Esther Greenwood, the main focus throughout The Bell Jar, resembled the life of Plath for
her unsteady and rebellious characteristics that often break the social conceptions of what it meant to
be a woman with depression. On page 96, Esther stands on top of a mountain with a colorful stream of
consciousness that is detailed and fervent as she considers skiing down the mountain. Plath uses
imagery and figurative language to convey her feelings of being out of control and absolutely isolated,
revealing how women during this time period were forced to keep their true thoughts and emotions to
themselves regardless of their mental condition. In this passage, Plath describes Buddy using two
different similes, showing how Esther s last resort disappears in front of her, leaving her completely
alone. As she stands atop the mountain, it seems as if her vision becomes progressively blurred. As the
other skiers around her become invisible, she noticed the actions Buddy takes in order to grab her
attention. His arms

Hillary Clinton Candidate Analysis
The Candidate that speaks more effectively
In the Presidential debates, Hillary Clinton speaks more effectively. She does this by remaining
professional in answering the questions that were asked. When the debates get heated, Clinton is the
candidate with the right temperament. She also presents herself as being more prepared and
knowledgeable. Something else Hillary does well is sticking to the topics and facts that are being
discussed and being crystal clear in delivering her information.

What Hillary does well is valuing all facts when acting in response to questions. With this in mind,
Hillary is presenting herself as transparent. She is crystal clear in her explanations. We know that she
is using fact, because everything she says can be supported in some way. When listening to the
debates, Hillary mentions several times that she has a fact checker on her website, Hillaryclinton.com.
However, Trump struggled with truthfulness throughout the debate. A recent article about the first
debate says, The Washington Post rated about 65 percent of his statements to be Four Pinocchio s
(their worst rating for lies), and PolitiFact has scored only 16% of his statements as true or mostly
true. This severs his credibility and brings his judgement into question. Trump also had trouble
answering specific questions regarding his plans and had a hard time keeping his temper under control
when confronted about having inaccurate facts. To add on to this, in the second debate he also weaved
around tough questions about ungraceful remarks he had made in 2005, constantly calling it just
locker room talk. Yet, Clinton s efforts of being clear in delivering her information proves that she
doesn t want the audience to think she is keeping secrets so she can be

Study on Essential Hypertension
PRESENTATION BY:
GIZELLE WILKINSON
SUBJECT: ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION
STUDENT NUMBER: M00037713
CLINICAL SCIENCES II
INTRODUCTION
Essential hypertension, otherwise known as primary or idiopathic hypertension, is a condition of
raised blood pressure with no identifiable cause. Secondary hypertension occurs when blood pressure
elevation results from a specific and potentially treatable cause. These include renal diseases,
endocrine causes, congenital cardiovascular causes and pregnancy.
This study however, will focus on essential hypertension so as to avoid unnecessary confusion. Blood
pressure is relative to each individual and tends to vary markedly depending on height and weight.
Levels of blood pressure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the arteries, there is thickening of each of the layers in the vessel wall, thus narrowing the lumen
and reducing its effectiveness. A similar development occurs in the arterioles causing increased
rigidity of the walls thus reducing their ability to contract and expand. Hence the lumen size is
reduced. As a result, there is slowing down of the blood flow resulting in ischaemia of cell tissue.
This then increases the pressure through the vessels and the left ventricular myocardium or heart
muscle undergoes hypertrophy. Ischaemic heart disease and left ventricular failure are common results
of hypertension in this case.
Due to occurrence of the above, the blood vessel in the brain become more fragile and paves the way
for haemorrhage. Damage to small blood vessels within the cerebral hemispheres produce microscopic
infarctions (localised necrotic areas) appearing as small areas of brain destruction that fill with fluid,
otherwise known as hypertensive lacunae.
In malignant hypertension the vessels undergo similar changes but more acutely. Therefore the
damage is more severe, leading to actual cessation of blood flow through the vessels. This results in
multiple areas of tissue necrosis as in the glomeruli of the kidney.
As the glomeruli are part of the filtration system in the nephron of the kidney, damage can hinder
removal of waste products, salt and water from the blood stream. Progressive destruction of

Essay on Voter Habits Based on Demographics
Voter Habits Based on Demographics
Abstract
In this paper I intend to evaluate the voting habits of the American public. I will look at how race, sex,
education level, marital status, income level, current employment status, and age affects whether or
not people vote. I am also going to examine which political parties these groups have historically
voted for, why they vote for them, how this has changed over the years if it has changed at all, and
why it has changed.
I believe that from previous voting information you could fairly well predict the voters choices. I m
not saying you could foretell the outcome of upcoming elections, but you could figure out what to
expect given the state of current affairs.
I find this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This difference is made up of people who do not have United States citizenship. This is important for
the consideration of racial and ethnic differences in voting rates. Immigration has affected the non
citizen population of many groups. Only two percent of Non Hispanic whites are not citizens and six
percent of Blacks are not citizens. This is in stark contrast to the thirty eight percent of Hispanics and
thirty eight percent of Asians and Pacific Islanders who do not have citizenship. This can be seen in
the nineteen percent of voting age Hispanics, Asians and Pacific Islanders who voted compared to the
thirty percent of the voting age citizen population who voted. This is illustrated well in the following
graph.
The overall percentage of 18 and over citizens who voted in the 2002 congressional election was at the
second lowest with the 1998 election being the lowest. There has been an increase in the overall
number of people eligible to vote, but a decrease in the percentage that register to vote and the
percentage of registered voters that do. I believe this comes from an increase in the sensationalism of
the presidential elections that over shadows the congressional elections. The hype and prominence isn
t present so it tends to slide by unnoticed. You can see this in the average difference of thirteen percent
more voters in presidential elections since 1964. The people who do vote in these elections are the
ones, I

Symptoms And Treatment Of Pompe s Disease
Background Pompe s disease is a glycogen storage disease caused by mutation in a gene coding for
the acid 1 4 alpha glucosidase (GAA), the key enzyme in glycogenolysis within lysosomes. GAA
deficiency results in accumulation of glycogen and successive enlargement of lysosomes. As the
lysosomes enlarge, there is also accumulation of other related byproducts, overtaking the space
regularly occupied by myofibrils and impeding their function (Lewandowska E et al., 2008).
Individuals with a complete loss of GAA activity usually do not live past the age of 2, usually dying
from heart failure (Hesselink RP et al., 2003)(Sun B et al., 2015). Individuals with incomplete loss of
GAA activity, or late onset Pompe disease, typically survive until ... Show more content on

When the lysosomes are failing they begin to swell; the proton pumps are unable to properly maintain
the pH gradient to process and phagacytize cell products, causing the accumulation of lipofuscin in
skeletal muscle (Hesselink RP et al., 2003). These lipofuscin inclusions in individuals with Pompe s
disease prevent muscle from functioning properly (Feeney et al., 2014) Rapamycin, also known as
sirolimus, is an inhibitor of mTORC1 in the pathway for glycogen synthesis (Phyu SM et al., 2016).
Rapamycin is currently used as a treatment for many different medical conditions but has been shown
to reduce glycogen content in GSD III and reduce oxidative stress. It is a small molecule drug with
more specific purpose (Sun, B et al., 2015) as opposed to enzyme replacement therapy, the commonly
used treatment for GSD II which mostly treats the large scale cardiac problems associated with full
loss of GAA.
Discussion of Specific Published Data
Data shows that large deposits of lipofuscin are visible using fluorescent immunostaining in biopsies
of skeletal muscle (Feeney et al., 2014) Figure 1. Confocal fluorescence images of unstained fibers
showing numerous autofluorescent inclusions in the core of two fibers. Bar: 50 μm, (Feeney et al.,

Compound Bow History
Archery has been around for the majority of documented human history and has gradually changed
over the centuries. However, in the recent years a new type of bow has been created, the compound
bow. The introduction of the compound bow revolutionized the archery system, allowing for faster
and stronger shooting as well as increased range, all allowing for hunters to better hit their targets.
Before the compound bow, there were wooden bows and the most common one used for hunting was
the Longbow. These bows were about 72 inches in length and could be made out of various types of
wood to give it different properties. It could usually be pulled back around 30 inches and it had a
poundage of 150, which means it is very difficult to shoot. In the article Medieval versus Modern ...

This was a problem because archers had to be able to aim and release their arrows quickly which
meant it was hard to get good accuracy and consistency while shooting unless there was repeated
practice. That was when in the 1960s Holless W. Allen created the first compound bow. The
compound bow has a leveling system that uses cables and pulleys to bend the limbs, these pulleys and
cables were [called cams] placed on both sides of the bow, (Facts About). This system allows for more
energy to be stored in the limbs, this also allows for the arrow to be shot faster than with other types of
bows. The cams on the bow also allow for less recoil and vibrations in the bow limbs which increases
the accuracy of the archer. Compound bows are smaller and lighter than

Story Truth and Happening Truth in
The Things They Carried
Throughout The Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien it is difficult to separate what is fictitious, and
what is true. During the entire work there are two different truths , which are story truth and happening
truth . Happening truth is the actual events that happen, and is the foundation or time line on which the
story is built on. Story truth is the molding or re shaping of the happening truth that allows the story to
be believable and enjoyable. It is not easy to distinguish happening truth from story truth , and at times
during the novel O brien reveals which is which. On the other hand, when the reader is blind to ...

truth from story truth , but it is possible that Tim O brien and Jimmy Cross did in fact meet and talk
for a day, but the honest facts may be twisted by story truth . For example, O Brien may not remember
his and Jimmy Cross conversation throughout that entire day in great detail; therefore he may have
had to formulate and make up certain parts in order to fill in holes and perhaps make the interaction
more interesting. The first three words of the chapter How to Tell a True War Story are, This is true

chapter he has the reader thinking and confused when he contradicts himself by stating things such as,

Sumayyah Book Review
Sumayyah is a very interesting person. She was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and she was the
first person in her family to be born in America. She has a large family with 8 siblings (not including
herself). Her family is from South Africa, but her race is mixed with many European nationalities such
as Ireland and England. Sumayyah is an English enthusiast. I love writing for fun. I am even writing
my own book. Funny, talented, and creative are three words that best describe Sumayyah s bubbly
personality. She is interested in drawing, singing, acting, and various other forms of art. Since
Sumayyah likes arts, she would enjoy traveling to the ancient Greek and Egyptian era. This would
give her an opportunity to experience the art in their beautiful culture. If Sumayyah was given the
opportunity to do anything she wanted for a day, she would complete her bucket list. This includes
writing a book, meeting a panda, writing a successful song, bungee jumping, cliff swinging, sky

been interesting research topic for service marketers as the customer contact service employee is the
service and organization in the customers eyes and consumer interpretations of employee performance
will create their impression of the service brand (Zeithaml and Bitner, 2009). Most early work on
service frontline employees is based on the assumption that interaction between service encounters

Hartline and Ferrell (1996) state that main causes of negative employee behaviour are stress,
frustration, and confusion inherent in the boundary spanning service role. This perspective is
sympathetic to the front line service employees as authors suggest that ambiguous roles frustrate
employees and this impacts on consumer satisfaction and consequently on the service brand.
Employees may feel overworked, badly paid, and highly stressed (Hartline and Ferrell, 1996), which
affects their behaviour. Harris and Ogbonna (2002) deny this perspective, and its assumption that
employees are malleable and submissive . They also deny perspective that a saboteur is deviant as this
may suggest that the individual is acting irrationally. Employees willingly misbehave and are fully
intent in such actions (Harris and Ogbonna, 2006). Authors suggest that sabotage offers equalisation
as it allows employees to react to difficult consumers or management demands (Harris and Ogbonna,
2006). Through a survey of low wage frontline customer contact employees Harris and Ogbonna
(2006) showed that service workers characteristics are linked to their tendencies to sabotage service
encounters, and service sabotage behaviors are associated with individual and group rewards, effects
for customers, and other performance measures. Their findings further show that management control
efforts and perceived labor market conditions are also linked with service sabotage and

Dulce Et Decorum Est Similes
Wilfred Edward Salter Owen, author of Dulce et Decorum Est, was born on March 18, 1893 in the
city of Oswestry in the United Kingdom and died on November 4, 1918 at Sambre Oise Canal in
France (Wilfred). Between those years he was a soldier in the Trench War, otherwise known as the
first World War. He was one of the leading poets along with John McCrae. His poem Dulce et
Decorum Est was posthumously in a 1920 book called Poems (Wilfred). The title is in Latin and was
taken from the Roman poet Horace. The phrase translates into it is sweet and honorable... The phrase
also appears at the end of the poem followed by pro patria mori, which means to die for one s country

The first simile compares the soldiers to beggars, or the homeless, which already creates a dark tone
about the soldiers. Owen states, Bent double, like old beggars under sacks (Owen line 1). The soldiers

harshly deprived of their dignity and health like the homeless who resort to begging for a living. The
second simile compares the soldiers to ugly, old women. Owen writes, Knock kneed, coughing like
hags, we cursed through sludge (2). The men who went into battle were, for the most part, young and
straight out of high school, yet after the war they looked old and ugly like hags. With this sentence,
Owen implies that the soldiers have health conditions that the readers back at home would never have
imagined to be so horrid. The war has made them ill and unstable like old

Meno s Interpretation Of Virtue
Yes, I do agree with Meno s first instinct, as even I would not be able to recount the interpretation of
virtue in its entirety. Meno interprets virtue as to find joy in beautiful things and have power. (Meno)
Even more so, Meno believes that virtue varies in relation to men, women and children. However, in
reality, having virtue simply means to maintain and uphold good moral values and characteristics. For
example, patience is said to be a virtue. Other virtues can be seen as bravery, charity, commitment,
compassion, dignity, grace and honesty. I agree with Socrates when he states that virtue is the same for
everyone. With that said, on the other hand, not every individual possesses all of the numerous virtues.
This is because not every

Katniss and Peeta have to work even harder to overcome the bias against them and win the hearts of
the sponsors and the crowd. Being as poor as they are comes with some benefits and some
disadvantages. They have been under fed most of their lives which means they are skinny and weak
compared to the other tributes. Living in district 12 also gives them the natural sense of survival.
Katniss spends a lot of time hunting to survive which is basically what the hunger games are. Peeta
also uses skills from his trade, like his cake decorating, to give him an upper hand in the games. Just
like in their everyday lives Katniss and Peeta are spending every waking moment during the games
fighting to survive. Because of the social class system set up by the Capitol people are treated very
unfairly based on where they were born. The time that Suzanne Collins lived in when she was writing
this book had a heavy effect on the plot of the book. It was from watching tv when the concept of the
hunger games came to her. She was surfing the channels and saw a reality tv show where people were
competing to stay in the game and a footage from the invasion of Iraq. The two concepts mixed in her
mind and led her to the hunger games. She published the book in 2008 which was a time when reality
shows, like Survivor, were very popular. If the reader approaches this book thinking of it as a reality tv
show, a lot of the same themes arise.

  • 2. Essay On Jefferson Davis Death Abraham Lincoln, the president of the United States of America, had a difficult job. Not only did this man strive to unite the country once again, he also had the responsibility of deciding the fate of Jefferson Davis, the former president of the Confederate States of America. Many Northerns believed Jefferson should at least be imprisoned, if not put to death for his actions. Southerners, on the other hand, viewed Davis as a hero and could not bear the thought of their hero being punished. Wanting to keep the recently re united country at peace with one another, President Lincoln was left in a bind. Former Confederate President Jefferson Davis was arrested on May 10, 1865 at Irwinville, Georgia by Northern soldiers. He was then transferred to Fort Monroe, Virginia where he was placed in prison for two years. He was never tried for treason for fear that Davis would be able to successfully prove that succession was legal. In May of 1867, almost exactly two years later, Davis was released from prison on bail due to the funds of several wealthy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While I believe Davis should have had some sort of punishment, I would not go as far to believe he should be put to death, like many Northerns. I do not believe in the death sentence. The death sentence is no different from murder, regardless of what the reasoning is; it is taking a life. In Exodus 20, God gives the commandment, You shall not murder. The death sentence is murder. Instead of a death sentence, I would sentence Jefferson Davis to life in prison. This man did commit treason by leading a country that was viewed as illegally seceding. However, Davis did not desire to become president of the Confederate States of America. He rather had the desire to be the general of the Confederate states. A life in prison would ensure that Jefferson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Fort Worth Opera Research Paper Opera is a timeless music that transcends the generations. I would like to go out on a limb, and suggest that the average young person does not really give much thought to opera. However, it is a music that will last much longer than the popular tunes that they listen to on their music player today. The great thing about going to the opera is the opportunity to experience classical music at its best. Actually, there is something very soothing and seductive about pure classical music set to a stage filled with actors acting out the human condition in some form. One of the perks concerning living in the Fort Worth area is the number of wonderful opera performances that are available to the general public. Fort Worth Opera There are a number ... • 4. Kelly Outbreak Analysis The Kelly outbreak is a famous phenomenon in Australia s colonial history. Whilst some people prefer to see the outbreak as a simple criminal incident between an outlaw and the police, most historians view it as a broader sociological phenomenon, involving conflict between a larger rural community and the colonial authorities. An important issue for historians has been to understand the underlying causes of this criminal outbreak, whether it was mainly due to personal, ethnic or socio economic factors. This essay will critically examine each of these explanations and argue that the actions of the Kellys and their supporters, and the reactions of the police can best be understood in terms of broad socio economic developments in rural Victoria at the time. In his article, Ned Kelly s Sympathisers, Doug Morrissey suggests that Kelly s Irish heritage was largely responsible for the Kelly outbreak 1. To support his claim, he points to the intense emotional relationships in the Quinn/Kelly clan and the high percentage of Irish sympathisers among Ned s supporters 2. Ned Kelly was clearly imbued with a sense of his Irish heritage, but the evidence does not suggest that this was a major contributing factor in the outbreak. Public sympathy, it seemed, crossed social and ethnic barriers 3 and was quite widespread, especially after the Euroa National Bank robbery, where the efficiency, lack of violence and manner of the gang were well noted 4. Furthermore, Ned once stated that he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. My Rifle Research Paper I have got very many gifts and a bunch of unique, special gifts. This unreal item was a .308 caliber rifle. It was such an outrage of excitement as my parents were giving it to me. Three aspects of the gun stood out to me it had a great design to it, the size of the caliber, and the size of the gun itself. The design was an option of my choice, I had always wanted a rifle like this one. My rifle, in my opinion, has one of the most distinctive designs for a rifle. Starting at the stock of the gun, it was sleek, natural camouflage , synthetic stock. As you go up the gun, you arrive at the metal parts, and this matte finish of black really matched the stock, which gave it my attention as I focused on it at first glance. The barrel, at the peak of the gun adjacent to the opening system, was thick, so if I was to shoot multiple times in a row the barrel wouldn t warp after constant heating through the violent explosion of the cartridge as the bullets races through the end of the barrel. On the other hand, the bullet measurements were just as important. At the time I was given the gun, I wasn t very old or strong. If I was too have received this rifle in any caliber bigger than .308 I wouldn t have been able to shoot it. On the other side, the deer I was to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I mentioned before, I was not a strong kid, for if the gun was to heavy for me, I wouldn t have had the chance to shoot it till recently. As for what came with moderately strong, I wasn t very tall, therefore meaning I couldn t have a long gun or I couldn t reach the trigger to pull it as I was hunting. The size of the gun was probably the most important thing to me because I hadn t ever had a gun before this one that would fit me as perfectly as the one I have described here does. • 6. The Effects Of Parallel Trading In The Baby Formula Market What happens when Chinese consumers lose confidence in the ability of domestic producers to bring safe and quality products to market, especially when said products aim to fulfill an essential human need the safe nurturing of infants? The wake of the Chinese baby formula scandal has not subsided, with Chinese consumers rejecting domestic outputs with preference for northern produced goods (Nguyen, Chi Chur Choa Hwang, 2016, 1). Compounding Chinese consumer sentiment, recent trends in market liberalization and the growing ease of ecommerce have contributed to rising parallel trading activity. Parallel trading is the practice of cross border travellers taking advantage of the price difference, or arbitrage, of certain products produced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, daigous often undercut any existing quotas, tariffs, and customs regulations in the importing country, leading to market distortions there as well. In Northern countries, parallel trading has lead to severe supply shortages in the home market, leaving consumers frustrated and empty handed (Korporaal, 2017). This practice does not go unnoticed, as consumers and producers, as well as governing authorities, are forced to take action. In Australia, some retailers have implemented quotas on infant formula, while Hong Kong, a market facing similar daigou activity to Australia, has limited the quantity of formula that travellers can take through customs at 1.8 kg (Nguyen et al., 2016). Price discrimination is the practice of offering the same product to different consumers at different prices. This policy allows the producer to exploit the differences in elasticity of demand between buyers. A seller of baby formula could charge a higher price in Chinese markets where buyers are willing to pay high prices, and lower prices in the Australian market where buyers are less price sensitive. Price discrimination allows the producer to capture a higher profit between both markets than if they were charging a uniform price (Maskus, 2000, 1275). • 7. Analysis of Intra-Asia Market Chapter 4: Findings and Discussions In the first section of this chapter, the interview result is being analysed. Following that, the research done in phase 1 and the interview results gathering in phase 2 is combined to formulate the Opportunities, threats and uncertainties in Intra Asia container trade. Finally in the last section of this chapter, we will forecast the future outlook of Intra Asia for the next five years. 4.1 Analysis of Intra Asia Market We had tailored our interview questions to gather professional opinions on the future outlook of Intra Asia and Intra Asia container shipping and how they could impact and affect the ship owners and operators (Appendix D). Based on the interviews results (Appendix E) we had gathered, 80% of the respondents believe that the current shipping market is now in its recovery from the longest downturn in three decades in the shipping industry. It is largely due to the cause of overcapacity of ships in the market that have depressed freight rates since the end of a shipping boom in 2008 (Shipping Industry sees an end to five year downturn, 2014). The current recovery seem to be fragile in Europe, though it is gaining traction in the US and UK, while emerging market is showing signs of slow growth (Howard, 2014). All the main shipping segments remain heavy on the supply side, causing great volatility in freight rates (Figure 10). Fortunately, the industry has now improved its ability to apply counter balancing measures that had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber By Hemingway In Hemingway s short story, The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber Hemingway uses the writer s craft of perspective to develop the characterization of the three main protagonists.Wilson, Mrs. Macomber, and Macomber s characterization is developed through multiple perspectives which create a negative tone throughout the story. First, Mr. Wilson is presented as a judgemental, professional hunter that slowly shifts and changes in how he feels to Macomber. Wilson s judgemental side is presented through his internal dialogue and how he feels about Macomber. On Page 4 he says So he s a bloody four letter man as well as a bloody coward. • 9. Models of Corrections Essay The history of correctional thought and practice has been marked by enthusiasm for new approaches, disillusionment with these approaches, and then substitution of yet other tactics (Clear 59). During the mid 1900s, many changes came about for the system of corrections in America. Once a new idea goes sour, a new one replaces it. Prisons shifted their focus from the punishment of offenders to the rehabilitation of offenders, then to the reentry into society, and back to incarceration. As times and the needs of the criminal justice system changed, new prison models were organized in hopes of lowering the crime rates in America. Gradually allowing criminals to reenter society and helping them to find jobs will put many on the right track. This program allows people a second chance and the possibility to change their lives around. This program seems to be a necessity yet it will not work for everyone. Not all criminals should be let out on the street again. Just because you give a murderer a job and some money and secure them a place to stay, you have no idea whether they have the desire to kill again . This program would work for those that were ready to reenter society and would be extremely beneficial to those who have nothing on the outside to help them. The third aim at bettering the system of corrections in America was the idea of the crime control model. The crime control model was based on the assumption that criminal behavior can be controlled by more use of incarceration and other forms of strict supervision (Clear 57). This new model was designed with the intent to incarcerate prisoners for longer periods of time. Under this program the death penalty was reinstated in thirty seven states. This model was thought to have worked best for violent offenders such as drug dealers and murderers. It seems as though this program was created to scare people from committing a crime because of the strict punishment that would occur. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people across the nation, and even in other countries around the world, are demanding answers to an outstanding number of questions. Why did these tragic events occur? Why do these tragic events continue to occur? Why is it that whenever a mass shooting occurs the suspect claims insanity? What is insanity? Are they telling the truth or is it just a cover up? Does mental illness really cause crime? There are so many questions all with varying supplementary scenarios however, I will focus on my belief that although mental illness does not cause crime and violence, it does contribute to it. I believe that the first and most important problem in this controversy is the lack of understanding what both mental illness and crime is. Robert Schug refers to both terms as umbrella terms in Stacy Mallicoat s Crime and Criminal Justice: Concepts and Controversies (2016). Mental illness consists of numerous complex conditions that alters one s state of mind with ranging severities and crime consists of varying levels of behaviors and actions that are against the law. Secondary hypertension occurs when blood pressure elevation results from a specific and potentially treatable cause. In the arteries, there is thickening of each of the layers in the vessel wall, thus narrowing the lumen and reducing its effectiveness. A similar development occurs in the arterioles causing increased rigidity of the walls thus reducing their ability to contract and expand. Hence the lumen size is reduced. As a result, there is slowing down of the blood flow resulting in ischaemia of cell tissue. This then increases the pressure through the vessels and the left ventricular myocardium or heart muscle undergoes hypertrophy. Ischaemic heart disease and left ventricular failure are common results of hypertension in this case. Due to occurrence of the above, the blood vessel in the brain become more fragile and paves the way for haemorrhage. Damage to small blood vessels within the cerebral hemispheres produce microscopic infarctions (localised necrotic areas) appearing as small areas of brain destruction that fill with fluid, otherwise known as hypertensive lacunae. In malignant hypertension the vessels undergo similar changes but more acutely. Therefore the damage is more severe, leading to actual cessation of blood flow through the vessels. This results in multiple areas of tissue necrosis as in the glomeruli of the kidney.

Individuals with a complete loss of GAA activity usually do not live past the age of 2, usually dying from heart failure (Hesselink RP et al., 2003)(Sun B et al., 2015). Individuals with incomplete loss of GAA activity, or late onset Pompe disease, typically survive until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the lysosomes are failing they begin to swell; the proton pumps are unable to properly maintain the pH gradient to process and phagacytize cell products, causing the accumulation of lipofuscin in skeletal muscle (Hesselink RP et al., 2003). These lipofuscin inclusions in individuals with Pompe s disease prevent muscle from functioning properly (Feeney et al., 2014) Rapamycin, also known as sirolimus, is an inhibitor of mTORC1 in the pathway for glycogen synthesis (Phyu SM et al., 2016). Rapamycin is currently used as a treatment for many different medical conditions but has been shown to reduce glycogen content in GSD III and reduce oxidative stress. It is a small molecule drug with more specific purpose (Sun, B et al., 2015) as opposed to enzyme replacement therapy, the commonly used treatment for GSD II which mostly treats the large scale cardiac problems associated with full loss of GAA. Discussion of Specific Published Data Data shows that large deposits of lipofuscin are visible using fluorescent immunostaining in biopsies of skeletal muscle (Feeney et al., 2014) Figure 1. Confocal fluorescence images of unstained fibers showing numerous autofluorescent inclusions in the core of two fibers. • 30. Compound Bow History Archery has been around for the majority of documented human history and has gradually changed over the centuries. However, in the recent years a new type of bow has been created, the compound bow. The introduction of the compound bow revolutionized the archery system, allowing for faster and stronger shooting as well as increased range, all allowing for hunters to better hit their targets. Before the compound bow, there were wooden bows and the most common one used for hunting was the Longbow. These bows were about 72 inches in length and could be made out of various types of wood to give it different properties. It could usually be pulled back around 30 inches and it had a poundage of 150, which means it is very difficult to shoot. In the article Medieval versus Modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a problem because archers had to be able to aim and release their arrows quickly which meant it was hard to get good accuracy and consistency while shooting unless there was repeated practice. That was when in the 1960s Holless W. Allen created the first compound bow. The compound bow has a leveling system that uses cables and pulleys to bend the limbs, these pulleys and cables were [called cams] placed on both sides of the bow, (Facts About). This system allows for more energy to be stored in the limbs, this also allows for the arrow to be shot faster than with other types of bows. The cams on the bow also allow for less recoil and vibrations in the bow limbs which increases the accuracy of the archer. Compound bows are smaller and lighter than ... The Things They Carried Analysis Story Truth and Happening Truth in The Things They Carried Throughout The Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien it is difficult to separate what is fictitious, and what is true. During the entire work there are two different truths , which are story truth and happening truth . Happening truth is the actual events that happen, and is the foundation or time line on which the story is built on. Story truth is the molding or re shaping of the happening truth that allows the story to be believable and enjoyable. It is not easy to distinguish happening truth from story truth , and at times during the novel O brien reveals which is which. On the other hand, when the reader is blind to ... This makes the reader believe that the Tim O brien who wrote the book is indeed the Tim O brien that is in the book, therefore this must be a true story from his experiences in the Vietnam War. All the more, at the end of the chapter he even asks Jimmy Cross permission to write the book the reader is looking at right then and there, At the end, though, as we were walking out to his car, I told him that I d like to write a story about some of this... Why not? he said... Make me out to be a good guy, okay? Brave and handsome, all that stuff. Best platoon leader ever (29 30). Like stated before, it is nearly impossible for a blind reader to distinguish the happening truth from story truth , but it is possible that Tim O brien and Jimmy Cross did in fact meet and talk for a day, but the honest facts may be twisted by story truth . For example, O Brien may not remember his and Jimmy Cross conversation throughout that entire day in great detail; therefore he may have had to formulate and make up certain parts in order to fill in holes and perhaps make the interaction more interesting. The first three words of the chapter How to Tell a True War Story are, This is true (67). Although Tim O Brien begins this chapter with such a bold and clear statement, throughout the chapter he has the reader thinking and confused when he contradicts himself by stating things such as, In many cases a true war story cannot ... Service Sabotage INTRODUCTION The relationship between frontline service employees and customers has always been interesting research topic for service marketers as the customer contact service employee is the service and organization in the customers eyes and consumer interpretations of employee performance will create their impression of the service brand (Zeithaml and Bitner, 2009). Most early work on service frontline employees is based on the assumption that interaction between service encounters and customers is harmonious and productive, where service provider tries its best to satisfy customer s needs and expectations and where service failure is generally described as service performance that fails below a customer s expectations for all kinds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hartline and Ferrell (1996) state that main causes of negative employee behaviour are stress, frustration, and confusion inherent in the boundary spanning service role. This perspective is sympathetic to the front line service employees as authors suggest that ambiguous roles frustrate employees and this impacts on consumer satisfaction and consequently on the service brand. Employees may feel overworked, badly paid, and highly stressed (Hartline and Ferrell, 1996), which affects their behaviour. Harris and Ogbonna (2002) deny this perspective, and its assumption that employees are malleable and submissive . They also deny perspective that a saboteur is deviant as this may suggest that the individual is acting irrationally. Employees willingly misbehave and are fully intent in such actions (Harris and Ogbonna, 2006). Authors suggest that sabotage offers equalisation as it allows employees to react to difficult consumers or management demands (Harris and Ogbonna, 2006). Through a survey of low wage frontline customer contact employees Harris and Ogbonna (2006) showed that service workers characteristics are linked to their tendencies to sabotage service encounters, and service sabotage behaviors are associated with individual and group rewards, effects for customers, and other performance measures. Their findings further show that management control efforts and perceived labor market conditions are also linked with service sabotage and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dulce Et Decorum Est Similes Wilfred Edward Salter Owen, author of Dulce et Decorum Est, was born on March 18, 1893 in the city of Oswestry in the United Kingdom and died on November 4, 1918 at Sambre Oise Canal in France (Wilfred). Between those years he was a soldier in the Trench War, otherwise known as the first World War. He was one of the leading poets along with John McCrae. His poem Dulce et Decorum Est was posthumously in a 1920 book called Poems (Wilfred). The title is in Latin and was taken from the Roman poet Horace. The phrase translates into it is sweet and honorable... The phrase also appears at the end of the poem followed by pro patria mori, which means to die for one s country (Wilfred). The first simile compares the soldiers to beggars, or the homeless, which already creates a dark tone about the soldiers. Owen states, Bent double, like old beggars under sacks (Owen line 1). The soldiers are bent down in the trenches and compared to being like beggars under sacks (1). The soldiers are harshly deprived of their dignity and health like the homeless who resort to begging for a living. The second simile compares the soldiers to ugly, old women. Owen writes, Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge (2). The men who went into battle were, for the most part, young and straight out of high school, yet after the war they looked old and ugly like hags. • 39. Meno s Interpretation Of Virtue Yes, I do agree with Meno s first instinct, as even I would not be able to recount the interpretation of virtue in its entirety. Meno interprets virtue as to find joy in beautiful things and have power. (Meno) Even more so, Meno believes that virtue varies in relation to men, women and children. However, in reality, having virtue simply means to maintain and uphold good moral values and characteristics. For example, patience is said to be a virtue. Other virtues can be seen as bravery, charity, commitment, compassion, dignity, grace and honesty. I agree with Socrates when he states that virtue is the same for everyone. With that said, on the other hand, not every individual possesses all of the numerous virtues. This is because not every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being as poor as they are comes with some benefits and some disadvantages. They have been under fed most of their lives which means they are skinny and weak compared to the other tributes. Living in district 12 also gives them the natural sense of survival. Katniss spends a lot of time hunting to survive which is basically what the hunger games are. Peeta also uses skills from his trade, like his cake decorating, to give him an upper hand in the games. Just like in their everyday lives Katniss and Peeta are spending every waking moment during the games fighting to survive. Because of the social class system set up by the Capitol people are treated very unfairly based on where they were born. The time that Suzanne Collins lived in when she was writing this book had a heavy effect on the plot of the book. It was from watching tv when the concept of the hunger games came to her. She was surfing the channels and saw a reality tv show where people were competing to stay in the game and a footage from the invasion of Iraq. The two concepts mixed in her mind and led her to the hunger games. She published the book in 2008 which was a time when reality shows, like Survivor, were very popular.
