Descent
The Most Beautiful Death
The short film, Descent is about a dying man and his very vivid memories shown through dance.
The movie won many awards including, the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and
Best Music and Dance at the Global Short Film Award. The film also won the Excellence film award
from Indie Fest.
The entire film is less than five minutes but it has so much content in it. I m usually not the kind of
person that watches live performances or goes to dance recitals. I have trouble understanding them
and this film was no exception, but it was so beautiful to watch that I m not upset that I wasn t sure
what was happening. I have a million different ideas of what the dancers could mean with their
movements but I m not sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in
different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin their
dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are moments when the
camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three men with his leg straight up
in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the woman in a yellow dress from
before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise and relaxing. She is making things
that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing it. I could watch her dance for hours.
Just as with the three men from before some of her movements are caught in slow motion, at just the
perfect time to see her body contort in different ways. The film ends with the dying man and the
woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out his substance from his body while he dies in her
arms.
Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close my
eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it that
makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone created

Essay On William Herschel
I studied the topic from Astrology Discovery of Uranus by William Herschel in 1781 . This was a very
interesting topic to me. Astrology has always astonished me and I have been interested in space, stars
and the Universe. So too was William Herschel. At his time people were familiar with a few planets,
the ones up to Uranus, but nothing more. William Herschel was interested in astronomy and read a lot
of books about the subject. He used to star gaze but he only had weak telescopes, so in an interest to
see more, he worked towards building a more powerful telescope. William Herschel spent time at
night after his musical career building telescopes, and after a while, along with his father and brother,
was making the most powerful telescopes around, and seeing further and further into the unknown.
One of his first projects was mapping the different planets and their positions and movements.
During one of his nightly star gazing rituals, he discovered what he thought to be a new comet. He
returned four days later to find the comet to have moved, thus increasing his certainty that it was. He
shared his discovery with others, who despite having a hard time confirming his discoveries at first, ...

Their limited telescope technology had peaked and they were unable to see any further. With the new
star being found, new telescopes created, it was opened up for more discoveries and open mindedness
towards astrology. The discovery of Uranus sparked a renewed interest and search for more planets
and other things in our solar system. This was the beginning of the second phase in the search for
more planets. Most people agree that the discovery by William Herschel was a check point in
discovery, with the planets before Uranus being the first phase of discovery and the ones after that
being the second

International Marketing Strategy For The Global Market
Nowadays, the global market becomes more and more competitive. The multinational companies must
be able to develop a good international marketing strategy in order to compete in the global market.
Different countries will have different political, economic, socio cultural, technological, environment
and legal and regulatory system. These factors can influence the firm s decision to conduct business
globally by using standardize or differentiate strategy. The cultural differences will also impact the
product strategies as every people in different countries may have difference beliefs, values, religions,
and culture. Thus, it is important for a firm to choose a right marketing strategy in different foreign
markets.
Culture is the main factors that will influence the firm s decision to use standardize or differentiate
strategy. People in different countries hold different cultures. They may have different values, beliefs,
customs, practices and preferences for goods and services. Thus, understanding the cultural
preferences of each country is important for a firm to operate successfully in a foreign market. The
firm should design the goods and services that meet the needs of local people. For an example, KFC
produce Halal food in Muslim country to meet the demand of Muslim customers.
Nowadays, the development of information and communication technology is growing rapidly.
Internet is an important resource that allows people acquire the information easily across the world.

Information Retrieval During The 1950s
Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction
Information Retrieval
Information retrieval can be used in a broad term to mean physically bringing out what we have stored
or kept earlier in order to use the information on it. For example, we have retrieved information when
we retrieve our international passports from our pockets in order to copy the number on it into a form.
It can also be described as the act of getting information, relevant to a need
As an academic field of study however, it can be defined as ... finding material...of an unstructured
nature...that satisfies an information need from within large collections... (C. Manning et al, 2008).
This kind of information retrieval, used to be limited to a few people or professional searchers, as
access to computers was limited at that time while the internet was not yet available. This however is
no longer the case in the developed world as most people retrieve information by themselves when
they search the web. The earliest form of computerised information retrieval began in the 1940s due to
an increase in the production of scientific literature and availability of computers. This however was
based on author, title and key words, rather than full text searches which came later. (Cleverdon, C.W.
ACM press (1991).According to Mark Sanderson and W. Bruce Croft the capability of retrieval
system grew as technology developed and processor speed and storage capacity increased. As the
development of these systems led to movement away from manual

Heart Rate Case Study
Are all of the RR intervals the same? Why?
No, not all of the RR are the same, because every time I breath in, my heart rate changes which it
affects the distance between the two RR intervals.
Compare heart rate by counting to heart rate by measuring. Which is more accurate?
By counting, I got 84 BPM yet when I physically measure by heart rate, I got 86 BPM. There was a
different of 3 BPM. by measuring the graph has more accuracy; however, one needs to sit for 60
seconds in order to get the most accurately heart rate.
How did you decide where to place the SA Node and AV Node?
I know that the SA node fires the start of the EKG, so it must happens somewhere before the P wave
and the AV node is the one that ends the start, which means that it must occur after the P wave. ...

What do these terms mean?
Systole occurs when the heart contracts and pumps blood from the chambers into the arteries. In this
case, it s the distance between the Q wave and the T wave. While the diastole is when the heart muscle
relaxes and allows the chambers to fill with blood. Likewise, the diastole is the distance between the
end of the T wave to the beginning of the Q wave. Moreover, the arterial pressure indicates an average
pressure in a patient s arteries during one cardiac cycle. So for this one, it must be the distance
between one wave to the next wave.

Music Is A Form Of Expression And Beauty
The science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, combination, and temporal relationships
produce a composition having unity and continuity; in layman s terms, music. Music is an art that has
evolved for many centuries. It is a form of expression and beauty. It has come a long way from beating
rocks with sticks and listening to the sound. A drastic change took place during the Renaissance
Period. The instruments changed, new genres emerged, and new composition techniques were used.
Renaissance means rebirth, and in a sense there was a rebirth. The Renaissance Period took place in
Europe during the 14th and 17th centuries. Civilization immediately following the Middle Ages,
conventionally held to have been characterized by a surge of interest in classical learning and values.

How Did William Harvey Change During The Renaissance
During the Renaissance, there were many scientific advances including innovations such as the
printing press and barometer, and advances in medicine, which greatly benefited Europe s knowledge
during this time. Advances in medicine included the discovery of ideas by William Harvey who
developed the understanding of the heart and Andres Vesalius who wrote the Fabric of the Human
Body .
Medicine in the Renaissance was greatly improved through anatomical observation and dissections.
William Harvey developed his idea of the human heart through these methods. Before the Renaissance
occurred, autopsies were not allowed because of the Catholic Church not wanting anyone to find any
new information to prove them wrong. During the Renaissance people started to subvert the rules of
the church and started doing autopsies. Harvey studied at the University of Padua where Galileo was a
tutor. Harvey was highly influenced by the Galilean way of thinking that enthused the university as a
whole. His primary tutor, Fabrizio d Acquapendente was the first person to clearly describe the valves

The printing press was developed by Johann Gutenberg after years of experimentation. Gutenberg
published his first book in 1456 about the growing dominance of the European society on the worlds
stage, the 4th century Latin edition of the Bible. This impacted the way people learnt as ideas and
messages could be published and spread more easily and placed in libraries for people to read and

Cambridge Sciences Pharmaceuticals ( Csp ) Essay
Cambridge Sciences Pharmaceuticals (CSP) is an international healthcare company based in
Cambridge, Massachusetts. The firm focuses on developing, manufacturing and marketing products
that treat metabolic disorders, gastrointestinal diseases, immune deficiencies, as well as other chronic
medical conditions. In 2008, CSP received its Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its
newest prescription drug, Metabical. Metabical is a drug that offers moderately overweight adults a
medically proven, effective method to reach a desirable weight to improve their overall health by
shedding ten to thirty pounds.
Barbara Printup, Senior Director of Marketing for CSP, is in charge of managing the upcoming launch
for Metabical. After an analysis of a 2007 survey of overweight individuals, it concluded that 70
percent of respondents are not satisfied with their current weight, 35 percent are actively trying to lose
weight, and 15 percent are comfortable using prescription drugs to help reach their weight loss goals.
Out of these respondents, 12 percent said they would immediately make an appointment with their
health care provider and request a prescription. The ideal Metabical consumer was determined by
Printup and found to be overweight college educated females ages 35 to 65.
To see how potential customers would respond to Metabical, Printup decided to project demand using
three approaches. The first approach is looking at the number of overweight individuals in the United

and a young girl called Lolita. The story is filled with sexual overtones and motifs. Lolita quickly
attained a classic status. It has also been adapted several times into films and for the stage. When in
1962 the cinematic genius Stanley Kubrick moved Lolita to the silver screen, a question arose How
did they ever make a movie of Lolita ? That question would remain, having even made its way to
Lolita s movie posters.
The screenplay for the film was created, with a help of Nabokov himself. The cast was very well
thought of, Sue Lyon in the title role was very convincing, it was her first appearance on the silver
screen for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. James Mason

Why Is Ice Hockey Important To Me
Although my life to date has been focused mainly on my academics, I have done the best I can to keep
myself well rounded. Growing up I was fortunate to partake in team sports, learning to play a musical
instrument, and learn the martial arts of Taekwondo.
One of my greatest pastimes is ice hockey. I was particularly fond of the goal tending position. I was a
goaltender for 10 years until I started college, then my goals and priorities seemed to change. Overall
my experience playing a team sport has helped me learn about trust and camaraderie. These are just a
few qualities that I expect would help me become a better healthcare professional.

Silent Tears Short Story
The Silent Tears
Have you ever being robbed? Being robbed is not about being brave, but being safe.
During the Christmas holiday season when I was 14, I woke up early on a beautiful Monday morning
trying to find my dad. My dad had a small business at the market place, and I wanted to go to work
with him that morning. I was in need of extra money for Christmas gifts. I was full of energy,
enthusiasm, confidence and a heart full of love and trust. When I finally found my dad who was
outside loading the car with the merchandise, I asked Dad can I go to work with you today? I want to
help you, so I can make some extra money for gifts. There was a long pause before he said Are you
sure you can handle it, remember it is Christmas time and people come from all over the place to shop,
and we will be very busy. I quickly replied Of course, I am good with math, and how hard it could be
to sell the famous chine melamine dishes? After all they sell own its own. Well my father continues
Let s take your sister to help you too.
On our way to the Market my dad said I will help you girls to set up and I need to head out to storage
to get more merchandise Before he left he reminded us of the prices of all the items we will be selling
in our little store. While we waited for my father to return, we practiced our math so we will be right
on with the money. As the time passed my sister and I became better at the small addition and
subtraction equations we were practicing. We felt more and more confident so we began to sell more
and more. As this beautiful Monday morning continued things took a turn for the worst. A pregnant
women approached us and bought more than 100 dollars of item. She had asked me to help her with
her bags, the woman had told me that she was incapable of lifting heavy things. Once we got to her
house she had promised me that she should pay and tip me. As the nice 14 year old I was I thought
that this would be a win win situation. As we began the short walk to her house, she began to
compliment me and out nice conversation had allowed for me to build a trust with the unknown
woman, and did not suspect anything would go wrong. Once we got to a certain ally which the woman

Reflection About Values
Life these days takes a toll on us when we least expect it. It is important to remain yourself and focus
in when curveballs are thrown. By doing this we are exhibiting to our issues, consequences good with
the bad, and tribulations that we are ready for whatever is thrown our way. Lessons taught to us at a
young age by our parents, peers, and other outside influences help mold our decisions. As an African
American female growing up on the Southside of Chicago outside influences helped deter me away
from a lot of the decisions and actions I could have made which could have taken me on a different
path. Each day growing up values were introduced to us that are used now as an adult. Growing up we
don t think much about how we live, who we will be in great depth, and what our values are, but over
time that changes. A lot of my strengths, values, and interest mesh well and have geared me to a path
of success because those lessons make me who I am. Values are core beliefs that influence everyone
daily whether we are intentionally utilizing them or not. Ultimately, those values measure our worth
and show how important something may mean to us. A lot of the values that have stuck with me
through life because of my grandparents who I spent a lot of time with as a child, and eventually they
were court ordered as my legal guardians. One important value I use today and I remind myself
always is to be open minded. This is a very important skill for me being an athlete, nanny, and

A Brief Note On Lateral Thinking And Its Effects On A Self...
De Bono (1990) defines, Lateral thinking is a set of attitudes, idioms, and techniques for cutting across
patterns in a self organizing asymmetric patterning system . He adds that it is helpful in generating
new concepts and perceptions. He also claims that Lateral thinking is also concerned with the
breaking out of the concept prisons of old ideas and related to insight, creativity, and humour. It is also
one of the most sought after approaches by most of the English language facilitators owing to its wide
range of general applications. Language itself is the most obvious code system with the words
themselves as triggers.
Gadd (1998) points out the use of material from De Bono (1970, 1982) are quite common in
humanistic language teaching classes. Adair (1988) believes that the intellectual skills such as
analyzing, synthesizing, and valuing are required for clear speaking. Similarly, a public speaking
tutorial on the internet categorically states that speaking is thinking . Ellin Kofsky Schalnick and
William S.Hall (1991) say that language is simply a verbal description of thought. This idea reflects
that thought is primary and language just acts as a tool to express or to convey the ideas or concepts in
an effective manner. Spada and Lightbown (1993) hold that thinking skills operate effectively when
students originally voice their analysis and take part in the learning process occurring in the
classroom. Pica (1994) argue that learners in the classroom should

Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Tulips
Tulips by Sylvia Plath explores the idea of disconnecting oneself from life, only to be reminded of
their responsibilities in life. The speaker in the poem is in a hospital room, separate from their family.
No one is present in the white hospital room, except for the speaker and the tulips. The room is
peaceful and allows the speaker to enjoy a lack of commitment towards anything. Unfortunately for
the speaker, the tulips in the room remind the speaker of their life and bind the speaker to their
responsibilities. In Sylvia Plath s Tulips, color symbolism and personification contrast the peace of
disconnection and commitments in life.

The color symbolism of the white hospital room and the red tulips juxtapose the peacefulness of the
hospital room with the speaker s internal conflict regarding their responsibilities.
Personification of silence and tulips further emphasizes the speaker s disconnection with worldly
responsibilities with the chaos of life. The silence and peace of the hospital room is freeing to the
speaker, as they are removed from their responsibilities. The hospital room is void of any distractions
and The peacefulness is so big it dazes you,/ And it asks nothing (32,33). By the room asking nothing,
its quietness does not demand anything and this is freeing for the speaker, as they are disconnected
from their responsibilities. The tulips remind the speaker of their life and their mortality, as they
observe the speaker. The speaker has been left alone in the room, but once the tulips arrive the speaker
realizes that Nobody watched [her] before, now [she is] watched./ The tulips turn to [her] (43, 44).
The speaker, alone in the room, is free from any connections to the outside world until the tulips from
her family arrive. The tulips, staring at the speaker, remind them that they do have responsibilities
outside of the peaceful room. The speaker, alone in the room, is free from any connections to the

Rhetorical Analysis of Antony s Speech 3.2
Rhetorical Analysis of Antony s Speech
In Julius Caesar, Mark Antony is given the opportunity to speak at Caesar s funeral by the conspirators
the murdered him. Through his words, Antony seeks to cause dissent and let mischief reign over his
audience, the plebeians of Rome. Antony uses rhetorical questioning to provoke the crowd into a fit of
rage over Brutus words. Antony disguises his true intents in his speech, putting him at a moral high
ground over Brutus. He finally uses ambiguous meanings in his words to hide his feelings about both
Caesar and Brutus.
In lines 1 4, Antony introduces himself to the crowd. Friends, Romans, Countrymen , is what he
addresses the plebeians as, using pathos here to tie himself closer to the commoners ... Show more

He then paints Caesar as a great leader to Rome by telling the crowd that (He) hath brought many
captives home to Rome, whose ransoms did the general coffers fill. . Without Caesar s great deeds,
where would the public of Rome be? Antony questions if Caesar s acts for the whole of Rome are
truly ambition here.
From lines 19 22, Antony uses inflection to not praise Caesar literally while also proving his
innocence. When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner
stuff! , here Antony uses both pathos to link Caesar and the commoners and circumlocution to
question Brutus without calling him a liar to the public.
From lines 23 29, Antony assures the crowd that while his eulogy has provided opposing points to
Brutus rhetoric, he means not to call Brutus a liar or praise Caesar while actually doing both at the
same time. I thrice presented (Caesar) a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition? ,
says Antony. Antony s ethos here, that any man that refuse a crown would obviously not be ambitious,
contradicts events the reader has seen. Although Antony persuades the crowd, as all rhetoric should,
that Caesar refused the crown three times, in actuality, Caesar was said to loathe giving back the
crown three times before suffering from his epilepsy. Antony, for the last time, brings up that Brutus
says he was ambitious; and, sure, he is an honorable man. . He has,

Role Of Art In The Arts
Can the arts play a role in solving international conflicts? At first, my answer was a no. I mean
international conflicts are complex and far reaching. How could the arts possibly play a role?
However, throughout the day I thought about it more. I thought about how music, novels, films,
paintings can affect us on a very personal level. There have been plenty of times when art has put me
in either the best of moods or in the worst of moods. I then realized that the arts can play a role.
Perhaps not directly, but it can influence culture and culture can influence society which can then
affect the world. The main examples that came to my mind was The Beatles and Bob Marley s One
Love Peace concert. However, before getting into that I want to discuss the benefit concert held by
Ariana Grande after the Manchester terrorist attack.
On May 22nd, 2017 there was a bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England that
killed 22 people and wounded more than 100. I remember when I found out about the bombing. I was
utterly shocked and appalled, especially how some people on social media and the internet were
already making jokes about it. I just didn t understand how someone could do something like that.
However, whenever I found out that Ariana Grande was going to hold a One Love Manchester just
weeks after the attack I was both surprised and moved by it. I respected Ariana Grande and all the
musicians that performed such as: Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Coldplay,

Disruptive Students Place In Alternative Schools
School can become tedious. Everyone can agree with that, yet students know they must endure the
long days and heavy workloads to further their education and stay out of trouble. Those who refuse to
behave have no concept of the consequences of their disorderly actions. These students continually
disrupt classrooms and prohibit others from receiving a full education. In addition to being a
distraction, they can also pose a threat to the safety of their classmates. Alternative schools are a
logical solution. These correctional facilities are beneficial to not only the delinquent but also to the
community because they help to produce a productive member of society. Disruptive students should

For reasons unknown, some students simply cannot or choose not to behave during class. Caroleo
opens her article, An Examination of the Risks and Benefits of Alternative Education , with the claim,
One size education does not fit for all children and youth (35). It is true that blanket instruction does
not work for most at risk students. A specialized educational setting results in an increase in
supervision and guidance. Specialized settings lower the possibility of frequent outbursts; therefore,
placement into a smaller class would benefit the disruptive student. In most alternative classrooms, the
student teacher ratio is low. In a local alternative school hosted by New Brockton High School, the
class roster rarely reaches above ten students. Smaller settings allow teachers the chance to minimize
down time and focus on individuals. Increased one on one time allows students to find more
productive outlets for their excess energy. In addition to being beneficial for the troublesome student,
alternative schooling would allow other members of the class a productive environment in which to
learn. Students outbursts are detrimental to not only the other students education but also the

Field Crop Disease Technical Paper
Field Crop Disease Technical Paper By, Nic Petrykowski Disease discription: Rhizomania is a disease
of sugar beets that has foliar and root symptoms. The most distinct foliar symptom is chlorotic patches
in the field that can be observed from the ground. It is possible that plants may just wilt or become
stunted without other obvious foliar symptoms. Upon closer inspection other symptoms can be noted.
The foliage exhibits a lemon yellow or lettuce green tint. The veins on the midribs of leaves exhibit
yellowing. The petioles of leafs appear elongated with narrow leaf laminae. The root symptoms, what
the disease is named for, rhizomania translates to root madness . The symptoms of this madness
include a dark brown bearded appearance near the root tip, constriction of roots, pale yellow or dark
brown discoloration of vascular tissue when cut in a transverse section, or nodules (tumors). It is rare
for all root symptoms to appear on a single plant. Tolerant cultivars will exhibit less symptoms, unless
disease pressure is extremely high (Beet necrotic yellow vein virus benyvirus). This disease is very
destructive especially when plants are infected with the virus early on. It is common that more than
half the yield is lost, losses of up to 80% are even possible. (Mcgrahn R.D.G., Grimmer M.K., Mutasa
Gottgens E.S., Stevens M., 2009) Pathogen: The virus responsible for rhizomania, beet necrotic

The Theme Of Slavery In Sold By Patricia Mccormick
How is the theme of slavery developed in the novel?
Sold is a novel by Patricia McCormick published in the year 2006. The story is about Lakshmi the

desperately poor and the fact that later the Himalayan monsoons destroy the family s crops she must
go take a job in the city says her stepfather. Told that she will work as a maid in the city she is taken to
India but the harsh reality is that she is sold into prostitution. Lakshmi is trapped and faces the horrors

The tone is moving and touching likewise the words are also so intense that makes us think that the
author may have deliberately chosen them. Some powerful examples are in between, men come. They
crush my bones...nightmares and I inhale deeply, drinking in the scent of mountains.....and fresh roti .
The ending may seem unsatisfying and incomplete. It is an introductory phrase Harish taught her at
the brothel. The deeper meaning of the ending is that the escape of these victims is uncertain and
improper. Also there is no proper solution to the victim s life. She may not get what she deserves or
her family would not accept her. Their future is uncertain and if they escape they would not be fully
free.
Patricia McCormick mentions that It is in their honour that this book is written . Slavery as we know
is the main theme of the novel. The tone, mood, writing, style, ending and setting enhance the
meaning of the story. The National book Awards has rightly quoted that Told in a series of haunting
vignettes, Sold is a harrowing account of sexual slavery. Alternating lyrical imagery with precise
detail, The author wanted to spread awareness on modern slavery as a whole and it is very well

¨UNI has knocked off the #1 North Carolina Tar Heels!¨ Gary Rima
***
I have been a UNI men s basketball fan for a long time, and I had been waiting forever for this
basketball game to happen. It was the UNI Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels game. The reason
Northern Iowa scheduled this matchup was because North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige was
supposed to play, but he suffered from a broken bone injury in his hand so he couldn t play. Marcus
Paige played for Linn Mar High School with his teammate, Matt Bohannon, who is UNI Panther
player. ¨So anything could happen, right? I asked my dad, ¨Dad, do you think UNI is going to knock

UNI upset the #1 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels 71 67! I saw the crowd of purple and gold rushed
the court to celebrate this huge win! People began yelling and cheering on what a huge win this was.
¨I was right, Dad!¨
¨I guess you are right, Nick,¨ said Dad.
¨This win would get sports coverage on Sportscenter and all over the sports world!¨
¨I know and this is a great recognition for the great town of Cedar Falls, Iowa,¨ said Dad.
Drew came over by us after the game and I said, ¨The better team won, Drew!¨
¨Yeah, yeah, yeah,¨ said Drew.
We wanted to see if any North Carolina players came out after the game and they did. Marcus Paige
came out. Drew and I asked him for a picture, but he wanted to talk to his friends and family first. We
couldn t get a picture with him, but we did get a picture with Justin Jackson. I told him, ¨Keep up the
great work!¨
¨Thank you,¨ he said.
As we walked out of the McLeod Center, I learned that I experience history wherever I go. I can also
say that any team can be beaten on any given day. Even if your record is bad you can still exceed
expectation to win. Being with my dad and experiencing this moment is one of the best memories I

Managing An Accounting System For A Business
As a financial consultant, one must be able to assist a company by evaluating drawbacks and advising
solutions. Consultants deliver an analysis of current practices of a business and offer suggestions that
will help a business progress to the next level. A consultant s duty for a business usually begins with
an understanding of what clients wish to improve. This includes examining financial statements,
business opponents, and the company s practices. So making recommendations on an accounting
system for a new business is a consultant s forte. In a case where a business owner knows nothing
about accounting, a consultant will create a business model and formulate a plan tailored to the client s
needs.

It allows business owner to correctly record transactions within the business, obtain financial
statements, and diminish financial complications, in general. Prior to learning about an accounting
system, it is essential that the background knowledge of the system also be known. An accounting
system is comprised of things such as assets, liabilities, and stockholder s equities. These things are
the foundation of an accounting system. A lack of knowledge of these will cease the creation of an
ideal accounting system. Assets are resources owned by a business . (Kieso, Kimmel, and Weygandt,
n.p). It does not matter if an asset is physical or even intangible, assets are owned in order to generate
worth for a business. The purpose of assets is to produce economic benefits for a business. Some
examples of assets are cash, supplies, and inventory. A liability is the contrast of an asset. An asset
should always have a positive effect on a business, while a liability does not. A liability is Amounts
owed to creditors in the form of debts and other obligations. (Kieso, Kimmel, and Weygandt, n.p). It is
important for a business owner to know that liabilities may be inevitable to happen. If a business
owner has liabilities it does not mean they are not successful. Liabilities are just apart of a business
and as long as these liabilities are dealt with, they should not stunt a business growth. Some examples

The Four Gospels Pertaining To The New Testament
The gospel of Luke is one of the four gospels pertaining to the New Testament. The Gospel of Luke is
the most extensive historical account of the life of Jesus. It was originally written for a certain
Theophilus, probably a Gentile of high social standing, and intended to inform him extensively of the
life and work of Christ. Throughout this gospel the person of Jesus is presented as the perfect Man
who always lived according to the will of God. And the account that Luke offers us of his life appears
divided in two basic parts: the coming to the world of the Son of God and the return to his glory. It
narrates from before the birth of John the Baptist, until the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In this gospel Luke tells the story of Jesus

Illusion vs. Reality A Streetcar Named Desire Essay
Illusion vs. Reality A Streetcar Named Desire Tennessee Williams uses the constant battle between
illusion and reality as a theme throughout his play A Streetcar Named Desire. Many use illusion to
escape the reality they are living in. This theme is present in all of his characters in different ways.
Each character is shown to live their life in either the way of illusion or reality. Harold Mitchell, also
known as Mitch buys into Blanches illusions. He is overtaken by her charm, but in the end finally
faces reality. Stella who is Blanches sister is always wishing for everything to be perfect with her and
Stanley even though he abuses her. She overlooks Stanley s downfalls to escape her reality. Blanche is
the center of all illusion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In all of these instances illusion plays a key role in a way for the characters to do away with the lives
they do not want to be living. Although, not all characters are living in illusion Tennessee Williams
does include some who face reality. Stanley Kowalski, Stella s husband, is strictly a reality based
character. He is constantly looking into Blanches real past. He sees through all of her illusions and
wants the truth to things. This is proved in the rape scene when Stanley turns Blanche into the victim
as she had made herself out to be throughout the play. Eunice the character who lives in the upstairs of
the house with the Kowalski s. She knows how untrue Stanley is to Stella and is always telling her to
face reality and not put up with how she is treated like garbage from him. Towards the end of the play
Mitch finally overlooks Blanches illusions and begins to question her by telling her how he has never
seen her in the light and asks her age. Mitch s sick mother helps to keep him focused in the real things
in his life by having him put aside all other things to take care of the one who cared for him. Escaping
your reality and living in an illusion world will leave you blind to the things around you. In some
cases, if you are strong enough to withhold from the illusions around you, you may end up in the
reality, like Mitch. Both Stella and Blanche found it best in their minds to live in a fantasy but if you

Characteristics Of Jean Baptiste De Lamarck And Charles...
Many research scientists virtually agree as to the importance of an elucidation of evolutionary
mechanisms as the unification for acquisition and assumption of information concerning the origin,
history, and diversity of life on earth. Evolution is construed as an overall gradual development of
living organisms from differentiated pre historic to current times. It represents the process whereby
modern organisms descend from ancient ancestors. Across decades of years, evidence from
innumerable sources have indicated that the concepts put forth by Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and
Charles Darwin represents the base of scientific research in the field of evolution. However, there are
circumstantial evidence which proves that Darwin s theoretical beliefs ... Show more content on

Lamarck s theory of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics has been disproved. This was done in two
major ways. The first is by experimentation using the scientific method. We have seen numerous real
life phenomenon and observed that changes that occur in an organism during life are not passed on to
the offspring. If a dog s back limbs are damaged and unusable, its offspring are still born with all legs
usable. This and other such examples show that Lamarck s theory does not explain how life formed
and became the way it is. Secondly, Lamarck s theory has been proven wrong by the study of genetics.
Darwin knew that traits are passed on, but he never understood how they are passed on. During the
time when Darwin published is first research on evolution, Gregor Mendel, who discovered genetics,
was just starting his experiments. However, now we know extensively about genetics, and we know
that the only way for traits to be passed on is through genes, and that genes cannot be affected by the
outside world. The only thing that can be affected is which gene sets there are in a population, and this
is determined by which individuals die and which ones live. Although Darwin won acceptance for
evolution, his efforts to establish the validity of natural selection, his primary mechanism of evolution,
were less

Comparison Of Swift s Robinson Defooe And Robinson Crusoe
Defoe s Robinson Crusoe and Swift s Gulliver s Travels are both novels which focus on the nature of
the middle man, whether this refers to social position, severity of feeling, or even geographic location.
One of the major points at which Swift most directly satirizes Defoe s work concerns the underlying
conventions of the these values, and their capacity to improve the lives and the minds of those who
hold them. Throughout Robinson Crusoe, the novel s protagonist learns of the truth of the importance
of holding to moderation; something which he learns through suffering the consequences of his own
rash actions. Crucial to this is the idea of pre destination, providence, and of a rational order to the
universe an order that only the middle class is able to discover. If one considers Swift s work
alongside the vision that is presented in Robinson Crusoe, then it is clear that the former presents a
satire of the very idea, central to Defoe s work, that such events can be made comprehensible
according to a schema of divine providence and conventional morality. To understand Swift s satire,
we must first understand how Gulliver s Travels and Robinson Crusoe are similar, yet inherently
different. The opening chapters of Robinson Crusoe place the novel within the context of a
providential moderation and a desire to refuse the natural constraints of duty and familial obligation.
This is made clear in the opening speech given to the narrator by Crusoe s father, in

The Dispossessed
In describing Anarres as an ambiguous utopia, Ursula Le Guin makes a statement on the state of the
utopia of the mid to late twentieth century. Readers were becoming bored with the perfection and
idealism presented in most stories of utopian societies, and they craved conflict and excitement. As
The Dispossessed begins, the ambiguously utopian aspects of Anarres are obvious; a mysterious and
traitorous Passenger (later revealed to be Shevak) is being transported via ship by a defense crew that
seems fairly blasé about the Passenger s condition as long as it doesn t keep them from their course.
Even this soon into the story, the reader is bombarded with information that makes the world seem
anything but ideal. Le Guin places two similar

Trial By Jury Essay
A Jury plays a necessary part in the criminal justice system in England and Wales. Trial by jury is one
of the ways that could be useful for reaching justice in the courts. The jury has 12 citizens who are
chosen randomly from different genders and different ages. (The Guardian, 2005) the jurors work is to
help the judge to a make decision about the case so the lawyers show them the evidence and anything
related to the case and then the jurors will try to make the right judgment whether the criminal is
guilty or not. People argue that they want the trial without the jury system because it is not fair enough
and there are other reasons such as the jurors do not have enough experience, jury system is not fairest
form of justice, they do not represent the society and jury ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the juror could take bribe from the criminal to be in his or hers side. An example can be
mentioned here is the case of Vybz Kartel. According to AP NEWS (2013) there was a male juror
arrested because he tried to bribe the jury foreman to release Vybz Kartel (BBC NEWS 2014).
However, the chance of being corrupted for the jury is less than the judge. For example, it is difficult
to have 12 corrupted jurors as well as even the judge can be corrupted. According to BBC NEWS
(2013), the judge Akil Mochtar has been arrested regarding acceptance of taking a bribe of £154,000.
Finally, there is an argument confirmed that, the jury system cost too much money. So to clarify this
argument Brian Kelly in the BBC NEWS mentioned that, the jury trial costs more than £8,000 per day.
Also Guy Hammond from the BBC NEWS said, I realise that the court system is costing taxpayers
millions so it is cost too much money (BBC NEWS ,2001). However, the argument against this say
that the high cost of the jury system is the price of the justice so it does not matter how much it will
cost (BBC NEWS,

Summary Of Howard Zinn And The American Pageant
Arguably one of the most important parts of US history is the American Revolution. Without the
revolution there would be no United States because it never would have broke apart from Britain.
Howard Zinn s A People s History of The United States, and David Kennedy s The American Pageant
both discuss the American Revolution. When describing the revolution, Zinn chooses to describe the
different points of view of the everyday people in the colonies and the people in charge, while
Kennedy describes the colonists as all having one perspective. The result is that Zinn paints a more
full picture of the events including the first protests, the Boston Massacre, and the Boston Tea Party.
The first example of the differences in the descriptions of the colonists points of view between Zinn
and Kennedy takes place when they explain the events leading up to the revolution. They both
describe the Stamp Act as one of the first sources of unrest in the colonies. When describing the
protests against the act, Zinn says, In Boston, the economic grievances of the lowest classes mingled
with anger against the British and exploded in mob violence. The leaders of the Independence
movement wanted to use that mob energy against England (Zinn, 65). He makes a distinction between
the poor and the rich and their attitudes. The poor were angry about economic inequality as well as
what England was doing, but the leaders of the revolution, the rich, wanted them to focus their anger

Unit 506 Understand Child And Young Person Development
Unit 506 Understand Child and Young Person Development
When looking at and discussing a child s development, you have to remember that all children are
different and grow at different rates. Every child will follow the same sequence but they may not
necessarily do it at the same time as each other. For example, you could have two, 6 month old babies,
1 could already be able to crawl, and the other 1 may not have mastered it yet and may not until they
are a bit older. You must remember that your child is an individual and not group him with another
child and expect him/her to reach the milestones at the same time. It is important also that a
parent/carer, teacher etc., know the expected sequence a child follows, so they can tell if a child is
falling way behind and they may need to intervene to help them along.
Many skills and areas of development overlap. A child will not be able to learn a physical skill without
the development of their cognitive, social and communication skills as well. The areas of development
may be separated but it is important to remember that they do not work on their own but together.
The aspects of development are:
* Physical
* Communication and Language
* Cognitive/intellectual
* Social
* Emotional
* Behavioural
* Moral

NCAA Rivalry And Analysis
Throughout history American college sports has been on the rise, attracting people from all walks of
life through the lure of intense passion and competition that is demonstrated by athletes and fans alike.
At the centre of the immense success of American college sports is its governing organization, known
as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which has now become one of the most
recognizable organizations in all of sports. As per their mission statement, the NCAA s purpose is, To
be an integral part of higher education and to focus on the development of our student athletes.
(NCAA, 2016) With their recent growth, the NCAA has taken the popularization of college sports
from a national level to an international level, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Up until now the NCAA was able to get away with keeping college athletes under the category of
amateur meaning that they would not share in the portion of the profits, as that would compromise
their amateur status. Recently, the NCAA was challenged with and lost a lawsuit (O Bannon vs. the
NCAA) filed by former UCLA basketball star Ed O Bannon. The court ruled, Requires that the NCAA
s caps on compensation must at least reflect the full cost of school attendance (rather than merely
tuition and supplies). The court also held that $5,000 trust funds would be acceptable, so long as the
revenue was distributed equally to all players on a team, but rejected direct endorsements as
inconsistent with the valid objectives of the NCAA. (Lemieux, 2014) This ruling will have a big
impact on the business model and structure of the NCAA going forward. According to experts, The
impact of the ruling will not be radical in the short term as scholarships will become more valuable
and players will receive some indirect benefits from licensing of their names and images. In the long
run this ruling will eventually lead to the collapse of the NCAA s business model as undermining
amateurism will undermine fan interest. (Lemieux, 2014) As mentioned in the statement the NCAA
will have to make changes to its amateur rules,

War and Heroism in Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Essay
What is war? Is war a place to kill? Or is it a place where something more than just killing happens?
War, as defined by the Merriam Webster is a state or period of usually open and declared fighting
between states or nations. War, can also be viewed with romantic ideals where heroes and legends are
born. Even the most intelligent of us hold some rather naïve notions of war. Upon reading Kurt
Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five, intelligent readers have been divested of any romantic notions
regarding war they may have harboured. In Slaughterhouse Five the reader is encouraged to show
contempt for war and to abandon all hopes of thinking war as a place where deeds of heroism are and
bravery are performed. A character in the novel, Roland ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This one particular situation, coupled with the words so it goes and the death of a very likable
character contribute to the reader s growing loathing of the acts of violence carried throughout the war.
Even the structure of the book shows Vonnegut s disgust of war. The bombing of Dresden is also a
climatic point in the novel. At this point, over 135,000 civilians are killed on an undefended city as a
reminder to the Germans to surrender to the Allied forces. The random killing of over 135,000
civilians just to make sure the enemy surrenders is nearly the same as taking beating an opposing team
in a sport 10 0 and scoring one more just to make sure they lose. The bombing is senseless and
Dresden had no reason to be bombed, other than the fact that it was a German city. The bombing
provokes the reader to be outraged at the tactics that man uses just to make sure his opponent will
lose. Even the structure of the book is written in a way that provokes the reader. The book is written
rather haphazardly for a reason. Vonnegut offers the following explanation, It is so short and jumbled
and jangled, Sam, because there is nothing intelligent to say about a massacre. By the end of the book,
the irregularity of the book makes the reader hate the style of writing as much as Vonnegut hated war.
As one finishes Slaughterhouse Five, they realize that Vonnegut is trying to make a valiant stand
against popular culture and the glamorization of war. War, as

  • 2. Descent The Most Beautiful Death The short film, Descent is about a dying man and his very vivid memories shown through dance. The movie won many awards including, the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and Best Music and Dance at the Global Short Film Award. The film also won the Excellence film award from Indie Fest. The entire film is less than five minutes but it has so much content in it. I m usually not the kind of person that watches live performances or goes to dance recitals. I have trouble understanding them and this film was no exception, but it was so beautiful to watch that I m not upset that I wasn t sure what was happening. I have a million different ideas of what the dancers could mean with their movements but I m not sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin their dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out his substance from his body while he dies in her arms. Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it that makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone created ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On William Herschel I studied the topic from Astrology Discovery of Uranus by William Herschel in 1781 . This was a very interesting topic to me. Astrology has always astonished me and I have been interested in space, stars and the Universe. So too was William Herschel. At his time people were familiar with a few planets, the ones up to Uranus, but nothing more. William Herschel was interested in astronomy and read a lot of books about the subject. He used to star gaze but he only had weak telescopes, so in an interest to see more, he worked towards building a more powerful telescope. William Herschel spent time at night after his musical career building telescopes, and after a while, along with his father and brother, was making the most powerful telescopes around, and seeing further and further into the unknown. One of his first projects was mapping the different planets and their positions and movements. During one of his nightly star gazing rituals, he discovered what he thought to be a new comet. He returned four days later to find the comet to have moved, thus increasing his certainty that it was. He shared his discovery with others, who despite having a hard time confirming his discoveries at first, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their limited telescope technology had peaked and they were unable to see any further. With the new star being found, new telescopes created, it was opened up for more discoveries and open mindedness towards astrology. The discovery of Uranus sparked a renewed interest and search for more planets and other things in our solar system. This was the beginning of the second phase in the search for more planets. Most people agree that the discovery by William Herschel was a check point in discovery, with the planets before Uranus being the first phase of discovery and the ones after that being the second ... They may have different values, beliefs, customs, practices and preferences for goods and services. Thus, understanding the cultural preferences of each country is important for a firm to operate successfully in a foreign market. • 5. Information Retrieval During The 1950s Chapter 1 1.1 Introduction Information Retrieval Information retrieval can be used in a broad term to mean physically bringing out what we have stored or kept earlier in order to use the information on it. For example, we have retrieved information when we retrieve our international passports from our pockets in order to copy the number on it into a form. It can also be described as the act of getting information, relevant to a need As an academic field of study however, it can be defined as ... finding material...of an unstructured nature...that satisfies an information need from within large collections... (C. Manning et al, 2008). This kind of information retrieval, used to be limited to a few people or professional searchers, as access to computers was limited at that time while the internet was not yet available. This however is no longer the case in the developed world as most people retrieve information by themselves when they search the web. The earliest form of computerised information retrieval began in the 1940s due to an increase in the production of scientific literature and availability of computers. This however was based on author, title and key words, rather than full text searches which came later. (Cleverdon, C.W. ACM press (1991).According to Mark Sanderson and W. Bruce Croft the capability of retrieval system grew as technology developed and processor speed and storage capacity increased. As the development of these systems led to movement away from manual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No, not all of the RR are the same, because every time I breath in, my heart rate changes which it affects the distance between the two RR intervals. There was a different of 3 BPM. by measuring the graph has more accuracy; however, one needs to sit for 60 seconds in order to get the most accurately heart rate. • 10. How Did William Harvey Change During The Renaissance During the Renaissance, there were many scientific advances including innovations such as the printing press and barometer, and advances in medicine, which greatly benefited Europe s knowledge during this time. Advances in medicine included the discovery of ideas by William Harvey who developed the understanding of the heart and Andres Vesalius who wrote the Fabric of the Human Body . Medicine in the Renaissance was greatly improved through anatomical observation and dissections. William Harvey developed his idea of the human heart through these methods. Before the Renaissance occurred, autopsies were not allowed because of the Catholic Church not wanting anyone to find any new information to prove them wrong. During the Renaissance people started to subvert the rules of the church and started doing autopsies. Harvey studied at the University of Padua where Galileo was a tutor. The story is filled with sexual overtones and motifs. Lolita quickly attained a classic status. It has also been adapted several times into films and for the stage. When in 1962 the cinematic genius Stanley Kubrick moved Lolita to the silver screen, a question arose How did they ever make a movie of Lolita ? That question would remain, having even made its way to Lolita s movie posters. The screenplay for the film was created, with a help of Nabokov himself. The cast was very well thought of, Sue Lyon in the title role was very convincing, it was her first appearance on the silver screen for which she won a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer. James Mason starred in the role of Humbert Humbert was BAFTA and Golden Globe nominated for his appearance. My dad had a small business at the market place, and I wanted to go to work with him that morning. I was in need of extra money for Christmas gifts. I was full of energy, enthusiasm, confidence and a heart full of love and trust. When I finally found my dad who was outside loading the car with the merchandise, I asked Dad can I go to work with you today? I want to help you, so I can make some extra money for gifts. There was a long pause before he said Are you sure you can handle it, remember it is Christmas time and people come from all over the place to shop, and we will be very busy. • 16. Reflection About Values Life these days takes a toll on us when we least expect it. It is important to remain yourself and focus in when curveballs are thrown. By doing this we are exhibiting to our issues, consequences good with the bad, and tribulations that we are ready for whatever is thrown our way. Lessons taught to us at a young age by our parents, peers, and other outside influences help mold our decisions. As an African American female growing up on the Southside of Chicago outside influences helped deter me away from a lot of the decisions and actions I could have made which could have taken me on a different path. Each day growing up values were introduced to us that are used now as an adult. Growing up we don t think much about how we live, who we will be in great depth, and what our values are, but over time that changes. A lot of my strengths, values, and interest mesh well and have geared me to a path of success because those lessons make me who I am. Values are core beliefs that influence everyone daily whether we are intentionally utilizing them or not. Ultimately, those values measure our worth and show how important something may mean to us. A lot of the values that have stuck with me through life because of my grandparents who I spent a lot of time with as a child, and eventually they were court ordered as my legal guardians. • 17. A Brief Note On Lateral Thinking And Its Effects On A Self... De Bono (1990) defines, Lateral thinking is a set of attitudes, idioms, and techniques for cutting across patterns in a self organizing asymmetric patterning system . He adds that it is helpful in generating new concepts and perceptions. He also claims that Lateral thinking is also concerned with the breaking out of the concept prisons of old ideas and related to insight, creativity, and humour. It is also one of the most sought after approaches by most of the English language facilitators owing to its wide range of general applications. Language itself is the most obvious code system with the words themselves as triggers. Gadd (1998) points out the use of material from De Bono (1970, 1982) are quite common in humanistic language teaching classes. Adair (1988) believes that the intellectual skills such as analyzing, synthesizing, and valuing are required for clear speaking. Similarly, a public speaking tutorial on the internet categorically states that speaking is thinking . Ellin Kofsky Schalnick and William S.Hall (1991) say that language is simply a verbal description of thought. This idea reflects that thought is primary and language just acts as a tool to express or to convey the ideas or concepts in an effective manner. Spada and Lightbown (1993) hold that thinking skills operate effectively when students originally voice their analysis and take part in the learning process occurring in the classroom. The speaker in the poem is in a hospital room, separate from their family. No one is present in the white hospital room, except for the speaker and the tulips. The room is peaceful and allows the speaker to enjoy a lack of commitment towards anything. Unfortunately for the speaker, the tulips in the room remind the speaker of their life and bind the speaker to their responsibilities. • 19. Rhetorical Analysis of Antony s Speech 3.2 Rhetorical Analysis of Antony s Speech In Julius Caesar, Mark Antony is given the opportunity to speak at Caesar s funeral by the conspirators the murdered him. Through his words, Antony seeks to cause dissent and let mischief reign over his audience, the plebeians of Rome. Antony uses rhetorical questioning to provoke the crowd into a fit of rage over Brutus words. Antony disguises his true intents in his speech, putting him at a moral high ground over Brutus. He finally uses ambiguous meanings in his words to hide his feelings about both Caesar and Brutus. In lines 1 4, Antony introduces himself to the crowd. He then paints Caesar as a great leader to Rome by telling the crowd that (He) hath brought many captives home to Rome, whose ransoms did the general coffers fill. . Without Caesar s great deeds, where would the public of Rome be? Antony questions if Caesar s acts for the whole of Rome are truly ambition here. From lines 19 22, Antony uses inflection to not praise Caesar literally while also proving his innocence. When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner stuff! , here Antony uses both pathos to link Caesar and the commoners and circumlocution to question Brutus without calling him a liar to the public. From lines 23 29, Antony assures the crowd that while his eulogy has provided opposing points to Brutus rhetoric, he means not to call Brutus a liar or praise Caesar while actually doing both at the same time. I thrice presented (Caesar) a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition? , says Antony. Antony s ethos here, that any man that refuse a crown would obviously not be ambitious, contradicts events the reader has seen. Although Antony persuades the crowd, as all rhetoric should, that Caesar refused the crown three times, in actuality, Caesar was said to loathe giving back the crown three times before suffering from his epilepsy. Antony, for the last time, brings up that Brutus says he was ambitious; and, sure, he is an honorable man. . He has, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Role Of Art In The Arts Can the arts play a role in solving international conflicts? At first, my answer was a no. I mean international conflicts are complex and far reaching. How could the arts possibly play a role? However, throughout the day I thought about it more. I thought about how music, novels, films, paintings can affect us on a very personal level. There have been plenty of times when art has put me in either the best of moods or in the worst of moods. I then realized that the arts can play a role. Perhaps not directly, but it can influence culture and culture can influence society which can then affect the world. The main examples that came to my mind was The Beatles and Bob Marley s One Love Peace concert. However, before getting into that I want to discuss the benefit concert held by Ariana Grande after the Manchester terrorist attack. On May 22nd, 2017 there was a bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England that killed 22 people and wounded more than 100. I remember when I found out about the bombing. I was utterly shocked and appalled, especially how some people on social media and the internet were already making jokes about it. I just didn t understand how someone could do something like that. It is true that blanket instruction does not work for most at risk students. A specialized educational setting results in an increase in supervision and guidance. Specialized settings lower the possibility of frequent outbursts; therefore, placement into a smaller class would benefit the disruptive student. In most alternative classrooms, the student teacher ratio is low. In a local alternative school hosted by New Brockton High School, the class roster rarely reaches above ten students. Smaller settings allow teachers the chance to minimize down time and focus on individuals. Increased one on one time allows students to find more productive outlets for their excess energy. In addition to being beneficial for the troublesome student, alternative schooling would allow other members of the class a productive environment in which to learn. Students outbursts are detrimental to not only the other students education but also the education of the delinquent as well. • 22. Field Crop Disease Technical Paper Field Crop Disease Technical Paper By, Nic Petrykowski Disease discription: Rhizomania is a disease of sugar beets that has foliar and root symptoms. The most distinct foliar symptom is chlorotic patches in the field that can be observed from the ground. It is possible that plants may just wilt or become stunted without other obvious foliar symptoms. Upon closer inspection other symptoms can be noted. The foliage exhibits a lemon yellow or lettuce green tint. The veins on the midribs of leaves exhibit yellowing. The petioles of leafs appear elongated with narrow leaf laminae. The root symptoms, what the disease is named for, rhizomania translates to root madness . The symptoms of this madness include a dark brown bearded appearance near the root tip, constriction of roots, pale yellow or dark brown discoloration of vascular tissue when cut in a transverse section, or nodules (tumors). It is rare for all root symptoms to appear on a single plant. Tolerant cultivars will exhibit less symptoms, unless disease pressure is extremely high (Beet necrotic yellow vein virus benyvirus). This disease is very destructive especially when plants are infected with the virus early on. It is common that more than half the yield is lost, losses of up to 80% are even possible. It represents the process whereby modern organisms descend from ancient ancestors. Lamarck s theory of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics has been disproved. This was done in two major ways. The first is by experimentation using the scientific method. We have seen numerous real life phenomenon and observed that changes that occur in an organism during life are not passed on to the offspring. If a dog s back limbs are damaged and unusable, its offspring are still born with all legs usable. This and other such examples show that Lamarck s theory does not explain how life formed and became the way it is. Secondly, Lamarck s theory has been proven wrong by the study of genetics. Darwin knew that traits are passed on, but he never understood how they are passed on. During the time when Darwin published is first research on evolution, Gregor Mendel, who discovered genetics, was just starting his experiments. However, now we know extensively about genetics, and we know that the only way for traits to be passed on is through genes, and that genes cannot be affected by the outside world. The only thing that can be affected is which gene sets there are in a population, and this is determined by which individuals die and which ones live. • 29. Comparison Of Swift s Robinson Defooe And Robinson Crusoe Defoe s Robinson Crusoe and Swift s Gulliver s Travels are both novels which focus on the nature of the middle man, whether this refers to social position, severity of feeling, or even geographic location. One of the major points at which Swift most directly satirizes Defoe s work concerns the underlying conventions of the these values, and their capacity to improve the lives and the minds of those who hold them. Throughout Robinson Crusoe, the novel s protagonist learns of the truth of the importance of holding to moderation; something which he learns through suffering the consequences of his own rash actions. Crucial to this is the idea of pre destination, providence, and of a rational order to the universe an order that only the middle class is able to discover. If one considers Swift s work alongside the vision that is presented in Robinson Crusoe, then it is clear that the former presents a satire of the very idea, central to Defoe s work, that such events can be made comprehensible according to a schema of divine providence and conventional morality. To understand Swift s satire, we must first understand how Gulliver s Travels and Robinson Crusoe are similar, yet inherently different. For example, you could have two, 6 month old babies, 1 could already be able to crawl, and the other 1 may not have mastered it yet and may not until they are a bit older. You must remember that your child is an individual and not group him with another child and expect him/her to reach the milestones at the same time. At this point, over 135,000 civilians are killed on an undefended city as a reminder to the Germans to surrender to the Allied forces. The random killing of over 135,000 civilians just to make sure the enemy surrenders is nearly the same as taking beating an opposing team in a sport 10 0 and scoring one more just to make sure they lose.
