Zionism and Non Zionists Essays
Zionism declares that the Jews are more than a purely religious body, they are not only a race
but also a nation (Berkowitz 376). Theodor Herzl, the father of political Zionism, states, We are a
people one people. Both Herzl and Berkowitz have interesting key points about a Jewish State, the
Jewish religion in general, and how to solve current issues in the religion. A State is formed by a
social contract and is still being created today. Rousseau states, The conditions of this contract are
so precisely defined by the nature of the agreement that the slightest alterations would make them
null and void. The consequence is that, even where they are not expressly stated, they are
everywhere identical, and everywhere tacitly accepted and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This fact proves that all Jews should and will stand together to solve and work out the problems
such as poor treatment and portrayal. Herzl emphasizes, It is true that the Jewish State is
conceived as a peculiarly modern structure on unspecified territory. But a State is formed, not by
pieces of land, but rather by a number of men united under sovereign rule. For example, the
portrayal of Jews from a non Zionist is much different from Zionists. It is an egregious and fatal
error of the Zionists that they accept the misery of Israel as permanent, his wretchedness as
hopeless (Berkowitz 372). Although forming a State or declaring an important religion can be
difficult, there are many other risks such as, land disputes, current communities moving to a new
land, views of merging with other countries, past and future suffering, and the most important,
the emphasis on religion or nation. The first step to becoming a respected religious State is
forming a society of Jews to perform scientific and political tasks. Second, Christians and current
citizens of the State would be forced to move and find new land, like in times of war or destroyed
land. Herzl does point out that if the Jewish State had help from the Christians it would become a
peaceable voluntary departure of colonists. Third, the Jews have attempted to merge many places
in the social life of other countries and to prefer faith of

Assessing The Effect Of A New Teaching Approach
Part B. Descriptive statistics: assessing the effects of a new teaching approach
1. The main goal of the analysis being conducted is to assess whether the new curriculum on basic
electricity in basic science yields better achievement outcomes compared to the existing curriculum,
which is a more traditional teaching approach, for elementary school students in both urban and
suburban schools. In doing this analysis some questions that will be key to this study is to reveal if
this new curriculum is beneficial when compared to the traditional teaching approach. Indeed, some
students are randomly assigned to both the new curriculum and to the traditional teaching approach.
As a result, through this randomization biases will be kept from occurring. This investigation is
important because it will be determined what yielded better results through focusing on examining
differences in the posttest variable for children who did or did not experience the new curriculum.
2. After downloading the data file (Assignment 1.dta) and reading it on Stata, I was allowed to
see that there were some values that were missing: five to be exact. In other words, examining the
ids I was able to see that the number did not correlate with the id. The ids went to 178 and there
were only 173 entries. Indeed, the ids that were missing were 57,104,123,146, and 157. This was in
contrast to running the codebook command for each variable id, treatment, urban, female, lowach,
posttest which produced a table

Descent
The Most Beautiful Death
The short film, Descent is about a dying man and his very vivid memories shown through dance.
The movie won many awards including, the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and
Best Music and Dance at the Global Short Film Award. The film also won the Excellence film
award from Indie Fest.
The entire film is less than five minutes but it has so much content in it. I m usually not the kind of
person that watches live performances or goes to dance recitals. I have trouble understanding them
and this film was no exception, but it was so beautiful to watch that I m not upset that I wasn t sure
what was happening. I have a million different ideas of what the dancers could mean with their
movements but I m not sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in
different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin
their dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are
moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three
men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the
woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise
and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing
it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her
movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different
ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out
his substance from his body while he dies in her arms.
Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close
my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it
that makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone

The Gut Microbiome Of Giant Pandas
The giant pandas spend around 14 hours a day eating bamboo which usually doesn t digest very
well. Some of their unique features includes powerful jaw and a enlarge wrist bone that functions
as an opposable thumb to help them eat bamboos. But when a group of Chinese researchers tested
the gut microbiome of giant pandas by sequencing ribosomal RNA in their feces and comparing it
to other mammals like bears and lions. They are surprised of the results, that showed pandas are
lacking the plant digesting bacteria like Ruminococcaceae and Bacteroides which help properly
digest plants. Instead they carry a bacteria like Streptococcus and Escherichia/Shigella that can be
found mostly in carnivores. This would mean that giant pandas has not fully

Montclair Art Museum Analysis
The Montclair Art Museum is located in Montclair, New Jersey. The museum holds various
collections throughout the year and offers an outlet for students and other artists to explore within
their facilities. Upon visiting, the main exhibition presented was Matisse and American Art. This
exhibition held 19 pieces created by Henri Matisse and other American artists. The museum
centered on central theme of Matisse and there was a specific gallery of Matisse inspired Art. In
this gallery I found Untitled #8 (2014) by Mickalene Thomas is a contemporary African American
artist born January 28, 1917 in Camden, New Jersey.
Thomas is best known for her paintings composed of rhinestones, acrylic, and enamel. She uses
these mediums of in order to expand the defined view of beauty and what it means to be a
woman. Her contemporary work draws from the world her and uses inspirations from history, pop
culture to expand on different visions of race, beauty, sexuality, and gender. Untiled #8 was
originally presented in her collection called TГЄte de Femme that opened in 2014 in a solo exhibit
in the Lehman Maupin Gallery in New York, New York.
Untitled #8 can be visualized as a female face fragmented in cubist ... Show more content on

The face is over exaggerated in its features and is almost clown like. It tests the ideas of gender,
identity, and race. The only reason I would assume that this portrait is a woman because the
collection of which it was originally presented was named Head of a Woman. However, this
easily can be represented as a man due to its angles, and there was not an overly dominant color
that is generally associated with a specific gender. This leads into the topic of identity especially
in the twenty first century where people have become freer to express their identity and beliefs.
Lastly, I think Thomas was trying to add the topic of race into the piece with the afro inspired

The Passion Of Joan Of Arc And Sweet Smell Of Success By...
Silent films ushered in the era of moving pictures and paved the way to modern cinema. Films
such as The Passion of Joan of Arc and Sweet Smell of Success represent the early and later
stages of this time period that was dominated by silent films. Within these films, two actors stand
out for their performances and there own unique traits they utilize to make the character they are
representing their own. RenГ©e Jeanne Falconetti and Burt Lancaster both are superb leading
actors that, through their own methods, make these characters come alive. Regardless of these
performances though, there are both similarities and differences that they portray in their
movies. These films were shot with cameras that lacked a multitude of settings and this led to a
very theater esque method of filming. Many of these silent films were shot with non moving
cameras, obviously no sound, and also less effects. [BRING UP READING IN REGARDS TO
INTRO TO FILMS] This lack of supplemental technology forced these actors to up their game so
to speak and really carry the filmthemselves, rather than saturate the screen with fancy effects that
so many modern movies revolve around. This forced the director to focus on the facial
expressions of the cast in order to display both tone and intent during every scene. Live music
sometimes accompanied these films in order to help set these moods so the actorcould focus on
character development and expression. The first character to be discussed is

America Will Never Achieve Racial and Social Equality: Racial equality is when all races are
treated equally. Social equality is when all individuals in a society have the same rights and
beliefs. Most believe that America will never achieve racial and social equality. There are many
reasons that follow behind this belief. Reasons and information on this subject will state why
people America will never achieve racial and social equality. President Donald Trump was elected
and thousands of women were expected to attend one of the largest demonstrations in world history.

Races should treat each others the way they want the other race to treat them. To me that is so
disrespectful how people in general treat each other. Judging is another major topic don t judge
a book by its cover. I feel as if we stopped this and ended racial equality more social between people
could happen. This is the century we have to change what we believe in. As difficult times are
ahead of us and approach us. This is when a we need to change. This is when we need to make a
move so a lot of change can stat happening. Not for the better of one race but for the better of every
race and everyone in general. We need to end this racial prejudice all together its becoming too
much and too many movements are happening in effect of it. A lot of acts happened during the
civil rights movements. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the main host of most of the acts that
happened during this time. He dedicated a decade of his life to see if he could pursuit racial
equality and social justice. He fought for what he believe in and that s what I think most of us
individuals need to do for change to

The Role Of Women In Matthew LewisThe Monk And The Italian
Matthew Lewis The Monk differs from Ann Radcliffe s The Italian in its portrayal of women.
Since both The Monk and The Italian feature prominent female religious leaders, comparing the
different ways The Monk and The Italian portray this specific group of women sheds light on each
author s attitude toward female agency. The latter refers to the ability to exercise control in
pursuing individual goals. Both The Monkand The Italian depict tyrannical head nuns abusing their
agency. However, the horrific descriptions and exclusive focus on diabolical nuns in The Monk
exudes a pessimistic attitude towards female agency as invariably leading to catastrophes. By
contrast, The Italian reveals a more optimistic attitude towards female agency through its more
subtle depiction of the cruel nuns and its acknowledgement of benevolent nuns, proposing that
female agency can be channeled to good causes. In The Monk, the Prioress abuses her agency in
tyrannical ways. The Prioress imprisons women and rules by fear, oppressing the women within her
convent. She consider[s] [women of rank] quitting the Convent, as a disgrace thrown upon it and
will use every artifice to avoid [that] (169). Not only does she imprison women, she also subdues
them by fear as seen by how Mother St. Ursula describes her fear that her every action [is]

What Is The Growth Of Poverty In Canada
The article The Growth of Poverty and Social Inequality: Losing Faith in Social Justice by Ann
Duffy and Nancy Mandell displayed many important facts about poverty in Canada. I believe the
most important information I got from this article is how intersectionality largely effects poverty
in Canada. From children to women to disabled, the article showed how each group is more
affected by povertythan their counter parts. I believe it is important to acknowledge the different
groups and how poverty affects them separately, as well as how poverty affects them when they
are intersected. Canada is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, however, many citizens
are below the blurred poverty line. (251). The poverty line in Canada is measured by the LICO
IAT (boooook) and the MBM (253). The resources for those below the poverty line are very
poor; food banks and shelters are unable to uphold the amount of people that are in need of them.
(252). Among the poor, many people have paid employment, however, it is not enough. Poverty in
Canada is largely based on intersectionality; how different aspects of a person combine to form a...

if the lone parent is female), if the child is indigenous, a recent immigrant or disabled (256/257?).
It is hard to think of a solution of poverty that will help people defeat poverty. I believe that if
society stopped grouping people into categories such as female, indigenous, disabled, etc. than
intersectionality would have less of an effect on poverty then it does now. It is important that
intersectionality not have such a powerful affect on people s poverty status because it is unfair to
those who are below the poverty line due to these characteristics that are out of their

Possible Difficulties In College Essay examples
The results of going to college the very first time vary with different people. Some people will be
frightened by the way of life change, and the transition from living with family to being by their
selves. On the other hand some people will be ready to move on, and to proceed with their future,
and will jump at the moment to take another class that will better themselves. College will provide
difficulties around every corner but will also provide the opportunities to go around those
difficulties to succeed.
When in an online college a difficulty may arise where a class will interfere with outside activities

Likewise participating in class after work will lessen the number of hours that will be used for
outside activities with friends and family. This may cause some people to feel overworked and
become frustrated, which may cause the student to loose sight of the overall picture.
On the contrary some people will find college easy due to their ability to adapt to a different
environment. They will rely on friends and fellow schoolmates to push them along until the end.
For instance a student may tell all of his friends about what classes that they are taking, and what
assignments are pressuring them. As a result of this method friends will constantly interact with
them, pressure them into completing the classes on time and completely, and will usually
provide an input of idea s and knowledge in for the assignments. Sometimes in classes there may
be an assignment that will be to difficult to complete based on knowledge, however the ability to
go to a classmate and ask for help, or even call a family member with the knowledge in a certain
subject, will always be an available tool. Similarly online is a great tool, schools will provide a
forum or a chat room to interact with classmates, and will usually provide a section for specific
homework in order for students to post questions, ultimately this will provide the opportunity for the
class to input ideas and see the required steps upon

My diversity is not simply limited to my race, but rather my language, religion, origin and

English should be the official language of The Gambia, Majority of the population cannot speak
it. Our native languages are the widely spoken languages. When I came to the US, I speak very
little English, people couldn t understand me when I speak. They would often tell me that you
have a strong African accent we don t understand anything that you saying. This makes me feel
left out and lonely. The only time I feel a sense of belonging is when I go to the park to play
soccer, Normally before we play, we divide the teams into two 4 v 4 . All of my teammates used
to be Hispanics and White, I have never seen a black person of African playing soccer at the
park. Most of my teammates don t understand me when I speak, but that doesn t stop us from
winning. We won most of the games. I community to my team mates using sign languages usually
with my hands. I observe their body movements to effect my passes. I communicate with them
without even talking, and all our other differences fade away. After going to the park for so long
and meeting with different teammates every single day, I always find a way to move past what
makes us different, finding that something that makes us the same. Whether on the soccer field, in
the classroom, on campus, in dorms , dining halls or on the street. It is the only way to live

overfishing not only on the coasts of Japan, but across oceans worldwide. Overfishing affects more
than just sushi enthusiasts, as it poses a threat of extinction to many species of tunaand sharks.

Anglers no longer visited them, for all the fish had died. [...] No witchcraft, no enemy action had

more than what the ecosystem could provide until it fell entirely out of balance. Carson predicted
the fate of fisheries across the globe, that they will be drained of their resources until there is
nothing left to take, and the greedy fishermen are forced to move elsewhere. The southern bluefin

the southern bluefin population has been absolutely decimated, just like the fishless streams that

Receiving a citation for breaking an Ohio traffic law can be disturbing, but receiving a guilty

finds that person guilty of breaking trafficlaws. The monetary fine is only part of the penalty. The
driver may receive points on his or her license for the violation, and the points may affect that

The Relationship Between Geography, Climate And Economic...
1.Introduction
The purpose of the study is to establish and evaluate the relationship between geography, climate
and economic performance through individual income levels. This has been very vast area of
consideration in the academic community. Therefore, on the basis of extensive literature survey
and previous research analytics on similar disciplines, the scope of the present research would be
conducting a two stage econometric estimation, mainly regression to compute the relationship at
the municipal level income data per person across a computed set of geographical variables.
Geography and environment has a closer impact on socio economic development of a region.
Historical data has revealed that geography has some effect on shaping the economic history.
However, the amount of variance is an important consideration. Tropics are varied by broad
climatic zones and economies as well (Torres Mendez, 2000; 2002, Inter American Development
Bank, 2000). As a result, the research would identify the key geographical and climatic factors
from the national database and analyze its relationship with income per person longitudinal data
for a time period of 1950 to 2014. This paper will analyze this variance to test and interpret the

During the transition into the new millennium, a number of factors including new technology,
sports personalities, and originality of new fans, led to the media destruction of modern sports. The
media changed professional and amateur athletics into businesses rather than into moralistic
entertainment while disgracefully exploiting higher education and individuals in the sporting
world. The press has also produced a new set of ideals and attitudes in the fans and players of
popular sports (Torr 49).What began in the transition to the new millennium is now an ever
occurring phenomenon that plagues the wide world of sports. While it is true that the media
occasionally broadcasts stories of unlikely successes and cordial charity, it consistently publicizes
the most shameful and less copious actions of certain athletes and leagues. One of the most prolific
examples derives from the National Football League, which has a substantial problem with
regulating touchdown celebrations and dances. Rather than help control the problem, the media
feels the need to emphasize the celebrations more so than the actual plays. Athletes have engaged in
line dances, dice rolling, fake photo shoots, air guitar playing, and many other imprudent dances
and actions. The most notable occasions (thanks to the media) include: Joe Horn removing a cell
phone from the

The Interaction Of Glucose And Exercise. The Objective
The Interaction of Glucose and Exercise The objective of this study was to see whether or not
exercise has an influence on glucose levels; If it does, then how much does it affect the levels?
What is the reason that outcome came about? These are just some of the questions that this study
hoped to provoke and shed some light on. Before beginning the experiment, a literature review
was conducted in order to gain familiarity with the topic and to build an expectation for the
outcome. Several studies were research, and it was cited how exercise can be used to help
regulate glucose in people with diabetes. The first study found that 2 3 minutes of maximum
exertion over 20 minutes of interval training can keep blood glucose levels lower... Show more

All glucose levels in this experiment were obtained using a ReliOn Prime glucose meter and the
corresponding strips. The initial baselines were taken before eating breakfast and before drinking
any juice, coffee, milk, or water. Time of measurement ranged from 8:00AM 8:20 AM. After
obtaining a baseline test, Вѕ cup of oatmeal with 2T brown sugar and 1T of butter was eaten for
breakfast. Coffee with approximately 2t of half and half was drank at the same time. Breakfast
was done being consumed between 8:40AM 8:50AM. Blood glucose levels were then tested
two hours after breakfast, which fell between 10:40 10:50AM. Again, this exact schedule was
followed for each day a baseline was formed. The graph above illustrates the daily baselines and
changes. The preprandial average blood glucose level was 95 mg/dL . Postprandial, the average
blood glucose level was 109 mg/dL. On an average, the rate of change between the preprandial
levels and the postprandial levels was 14 mg/dL. This is a normal baseline for someone who
doesn t have diabetes or any other impairment of the pancreas (Joslin, 2007). For the second step
of the experiment, the same procedure as above was repeated. Except, before eating, twenty
minutes of light exercise ( LE ) was performed. Glucose levels were taken before, ten minutes
through, and after the twenty minutes was reached. Light exercise can vary from arm curls, brisk
walking, jogging, or walking stairs. For this particular study,

Essay on The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
While a beautiful sunset on the beach can be astounding, a spectacular scene is not the only benefit
oceans provide. Without the oceans, we would not have adequate amounts of oxygen to breathe or
enough protein to eat. The Earth s climate would not be inhabitable for human beings and many
animals. The oceans supply medicines, food and drinking water which arise from ocean processes.
Out of the five oceans, the Pacific Oceanis the world s largest and deepest ocean. It spreads over
an area of 165.2 million square kilometers. More than 25,000 islands float within the Pacific.
Within the Pacific Ocean lies an unusual island, an island that is more than twice the size of Texas
and is earth s largest landfill, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch... Show more content on

The world produces two hundred billion pound of plastic a year, twenty billion of that ends up in
the ocean each year (Silverman). Fourteen billion sinks and ends up damaging life on the ocean
floor and the rest floats and end up in gyres and garbage patches (Silverman). This strikes much
concern because plastic is not biodegradable; therefore, plastic floats there forever because
microbes do not recognize it as food. Making matters worse, the sunlight photo degrades the bonds
in plastic polymers and makes plastic smaller for tiny marine organisms to consume (McLendon)
The United Nations Environment Program estimated in 2006 that every square mile of ocean hosts
46,000 pieces of floating plastic ( Silverman ). Reducing the amount of plastic consumed, would
lessen the amount of compost that is not biodegradable.
Numerous tribulations to the health of marine life ensue as a result of the Garbage Patch.
To marine life, plastic is like a poison. Filter feeders suck the tiny particles up resulting in their
bodies being marred. Some animals eat the plastic which sometimes poisons them or leads to fatal
blockages. Because there is a lot of predation in the ocean, the poison that encompasses the bodies
of marine life affects the entire food chain (Silverman). The accumulated plastic and trash
sometimes wash ashore, affecting beaches and oceans all over the world. This damages boat and
submarine equipment, litter beaches, dissuades swimming and harms the

Stolen Generations In Australia
The Report of the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
Children from Their Families 1997 better known as the Bringing Them Home Report brought to
the fore the policies of separation and assimilation but also denial from several quarters of society
specifically the Liberal Prime Minister
Howard who referred to the whole sorry episode as a blemish in an Australian story of which all
should otherwise be extremely proud, a heroic achievement in the face of immense difficulties.
This blemish was genocide. It took place, as considered policy, for 70 years, in a stable
Westminster parliamentary democracy. (Bartrop, 2001 p.84 85).
With the election of a new Labor government 10 years after, came the apology to the stolen
generations that the conservative Liberal government never did. After conceding the major role of
the stolen generations in intergenerational trauma in 2008, the Council of Australian Governments
agreed to six ambitious targets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hercules was short tempered and emotional, resulting in many deaths by his hands, including his

Stress In College Students
Stress is a part of everyone s life. A certain amount of stress is to be expected in daily life, but too
much stress may be harmful. The stages towards adulthood have been characterized with many
transitions and challenges. For some young women and men, a challenge that poses a possible
stressor is attending college, which has been linked to increased stress for emerging adults. It is
argued that emerging adults entrance into higher education includes both opportunities and risks. It
is argued that emerging adults entrance into higher education includes both opportunities and risks.
The topic of stress effects on the brainseems the most interesting to me because of how much
stress a college student, as well as others, can endure. Stress affects a person both mentally and
physically. Your mind perceives a situation and decides whether that situation is a threat. If it
seems threatening, it becomes a stressor. According to the National Institute of Mental Health,
stress is simply defined as the brain s response to any demand and can take a variety of different
forms. Although the concept of stress is individualized, stress plays a role in everyday life and
can stem from mental, emotional, and physical activity. In an article written by Grant S. Shields
and George M. Slavich (2017), the history of stress and its methods and mechanisms of research
were provided. In the mid 1800s, a French physiologist named Claude Bernard came up with a

Student In College Wired For Time Summary
(5) Student in College Pressed for Time A person can have the best memory however, it all comes
down to how someone studies. A common method of studying among students is cramming. We
make the mistake of devoting a big portion of our time to learning a material and over learn.
To avoid overlearning, students should take breaks after reviewing content. Some educators believe
that method of learning is an effective way to prolong long term retention and is common in
schools. For example, assignments for mathematics courses include similar problems, leading
students to overlearn.
Could some educators be correct in saying that there are benefits to overlearning? In experiments
where subjects learning literature was observed, they either quit or continued studying after a
certain point. Results proved that when they studied more, test performance was higher. ... Show

The Temperature Dependence Of Magnetization M ( T )
Next, the temperature dependence of magnetization M(T) curves of Mn3Cu1 xGdxN under a
magnetic field of 100 Oe is shown in Figure 3. For x = 0.15, decreasing from 300 to 147 K, the
ZFC and FC curves are virtually indistinguishable, and then an abrupt magnetic transition from
PM to FM with a pronounced ZFC FC irreversibility appears at a TC of ~146 K, as shown in
Figure 3a. Noticeably, with a slightly increase in the Gd content from 0.15 to 0.17, the M(T) curves
(Figure 3b) exhibit entirely different features, in which two magnetic transitions are clearly
observed. One is the typical PM FM phase transition located at high temperature (TC1), and the
other is the FM antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition at low temperature (TC2). Further increasing
the Gd content, the TC1 shifts to high temperatures (from 164 to 239 K), while the TC2 gradually
moves towards low temperature (from 118 to 99 K) as demonstrated in Figures 3c and 3d. In
addition, to further verify the low temperature magnetic features, the temperature dependent high
magnetic fieldmagnetization was measured under 20 kOe, as shown in the insets of Figures 3a d.
Obviously, a typical AFM peak is observed from the inset as displayed in Figures 3b d, and the
decreased slope of PM FM transition suggest that it is the second order transition induced by Gd
doping. For Mn3CuN, the structural phase transition brings a three dimensional geometrical
frustration in Mn6N octahedron 45, and then the next nearest neighbor (Mn N Mn)

Homer s Sirens
While both poems of the sirens portray the creatures as enticing, admitting to the deadliness of the
song they sing (PrPP), Atwood s rendition, with its perspective entirely from that of a siren
herself, paints the sirens as more deceitful in their malevolent (SAT Vocab) coaxing of men, while
the sirens of Homer s classic tale rely more on their beauty and ravishing voices, (Homer, 19)
utilizing rhetorical appeals to attract sailors (PrPP Parallel Structure).
These two poems compare in the continuities of their portrayals of the sirens admitting and
acknowledging (Compound ABP) their overall goal of killing sailors and the general success of
these efforts despite man s knowledge of the horrors that ensue from listening to the songs. The two
works facilitate these similarities through various 1st hand accounts amongst their narrators ... Show

For example, Homer s sirens reveal, never has any sailor passed our shore, (16) though not
intended to serve as a warning, but nevertheless a subtle preview of what occurs once the sailors
swoon to the angelic voices (NSC as OP). The inclusion of the siren s admission to the moribund
(SAT Vocab) effects of their music directly examples the siren s openness and honesty
concerning the impending peril of man when exposed to the siren s temptations. Similarly, in
Atwood s work, the siren bluntly describes her song as one nobody knows because anyone who
has heard it is dead, (Atwood, 7 9) this use of enjambment blatantly outlining the lethal effects of
the song. However, Atwood s sirens more directly acknowledge the disastrous results of lending
one s ear to their music, while Homer s sirens less directly foreshadow the fact that no man has
ever sailed by after hearing the song. Also, through the 1st hand accounts of Odysseus in Homer s
work and the siren in Atwood s work, the desire in man to flock to the siren song, despite the
awareness of his impending death, becomes clear. Odysseus detail that he

The Industrial Revolution Of The Green Revolution
Introduction
To date, historical evidence, from the industrial revolution to the green revolution, show that
agriculture growth has long been the engine of development. This idea has long helped promoting
the capitalist agriculture transition as the only path to rise resident s income (Zhang, et al., 2015)
in order to get people out of poverty. Accordingly, many started celebrating the global rise in
incomes as a success of those policies while the lagging in Africa showed the undermined
inequalities and marginalisation of the most vulnerable categories. Yet, the specificity in Africa is,
today, getting more and more attention as it shows not only the persistence of poverty but a high
concentration in rural areas.
Accordingly, the starting point of this paper is that agriculture growth is definitely necessary but the
management of the transition process and the understanding of the past and the initial
interconnected conditions lead to different path and development patterns beyond the polarized
debate between traditional as pro poor and the advanced as urban bias. To do so, firstly a study of
the different global patterns of poverty, where it is concentrated, who are the poor and the resulting
social relations is needed. Afterwards, the concept of initial conditions will be explored with a focus
on the role of the initial technical investment in shaping the urban bias development patterns.
Finally, the two previous conditions will be explored with a political economic

Comparing Egypt And Mesopotamia
Egyptian and Sumerian religions developed differently because their respective geographic
environments caused them to hold divergent views of their lives. Since the geography in Sumer
and Egypt was different, they held different views about their gods and beliefs. Even though they
were two of the first civilizations, they developed different beliefs about their religion.
The rivers and land were in both Sumer and Mesopotamia, a big part of the development of their
views on religion. Mesopotamia was known as the land between two rivers because they were
surrounded by the Euphrates and Tigris River. Annually the rivers would flood fertilizing Sumer s
land. Sumerians took advantage of the floods to help fertilize their land but also knew that when
big floods occurred the gods were sending a punishment of their wrong doings. ... Show more

Video Games Have Come A Long Way
Video games have come a long way since Pac Man hit arcades in 1980. In the last thirty plus
years, we have seen video games revolutionize art and entertainment. At first riding the coattails
of computer advancements, video games now drive technological progress in the search for
innovation and complete player immersion. Video games have started to go beyond the quest for
the best graphics. Games like Pokemon Go are pushing the bar and blurring the line between the
game and real life through augmented reality. Video games now give many people motivation in
life and allow for more human interaction in both the real and virtual world. In many ways, video
games are the human attempt to succeed where evolution has failed us. Evolution has equipped
humans with the ability to survive, but survival means something completely different nowadays.
We no longer need to hunt with our hands, hide away from predators, or scavenge for food. Our
landscape has changed from the wilds to the shopping mall. When the modern human faces the
situation of how do I speak to someone I find attractive? or delivery, dine in, or take out? As silly
as it may sound, these simple, specific examples are the type of problems that have replaced
predators and famine what mechanisms have humans gained from evolution to face these
problems? This is where technology and the future of video games come into play. To face the
modern world, humans will redefine what it means to be entertained, interact with

exerted to introduce Bruce and the driver. By doing this as an audience we become aware of Bruce
being not just powerful but also a rich person. While the limousine arrives there is a point of view
angle to establish the area and a high, tall building stood up to show that they are going to end up in

When Takagi, Vice chairman Nakatomi investment group emerges from office and walks up to the

to all the confusion were, salaries rising, players jumping from team to team and the use of players

The A.P.F.C. was formed to make one governingbody over pro football. Then, on September 17,

The APFA was later reorganized, they realized that Jim Thorpewas a better player then president.
So, they picked Joe Carr as the new president. Carr moved the Association s headquarters to
Columbus, drafted a league constitution and by laws, gave teams territorial rights, restricted
player movements, developed membership criteria for the franchises, and issued standings for
the first time. This made it that the APFA would have a clear champion. The league was also

The empirical evidence, suggests that immigrants improve labor market efficiency by providing
additional and complementary labor force. Labor market impact of immigration depends on the
size and geographic location of the immigrant population and on the skills they bring to the labor
market and how these skills compare with those of natives (Borjas, 2006:4). Broadly speaking,
immigration is not detrimental to the host labor market or economy. Most of the research on the
labor market impact of immigration has been concerned with the impact of immigration on wages
rather than labor force participation or unemployment rates.
Borjas (2003) noted that the impact of wages fluctuates from study to study but clusters around zero
which is contradictory with theoretical prediction of a downward pressure. Whether the reasons are
methodological issues (misspecification, endogeneity, and heterogeneity), market forces in specific
cases (area vs. factor proportion approach4) or institutional factors has not been established.
A meta analysis of international research (Longhi et at, 2004) identifies common findings that are

He applied the principles of the church to what was happening now, today. It was called the
social gospel... and I felt like he was preaching directly to me. (Lewis and Aydin 1:56). MLK Jr.

into Troy State. But if you want to go, we ll help... we ll raise the money to file those suites, and
we ll support you all the way. But you must keep in mind... your parents could lose their jobs.
Your family home could be bombed or burned. (Lewis and Aydin 1:71). He and MLK Jr. worked
on many projects together as it was in both of their interests. Lewis became very involved with
non violent protesting and everything MLK Jr. introduced him to. Everything the two of them
did was always associated with the teachings of Christ. His words liberated me. I thought this is
it... this is the way out. (Lewis and Aydin 1:78). MLK Jr. was in charge of a group called SNCC.
In that group, he dealt with the religious aspects of the racism in the country. John Lawson was
asked to become head of the executive coordinating committee which meant he would be even
more involved in the group. I saw myself as a doer. I never had any thoughts of being chairman...

The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane
The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex
novel detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It
also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that
legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal
struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones
these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural
elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of
chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. He
certainly does not know the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen
years. So my story is intended to show him with words a world he would otherwise not see
because of a sign and a conscience racked with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he
contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy. (Mathabane 3). Issues of race and racism are the more
frequently described types of social element in Kaffir Boy , however, the power struggle between
Mathabane s mother and father is also discussed. When Mathabane s father is arrested or away for
a long period of time, his mother seizes control of the household. She brings in the food and the
money. Upon the return of his father, she is

Implementation Of Incremental Development Process
incremental development process makes it the opposite to the rigid requirement needs of the
Waterfall method. Agile methodologies are open to change as the project starts and progresses.
The contrasting requirements need of the two methodologies, is one of the main contrast points
in today s project life cycle processes. There is a constant struggle between the two processes
even in today s business landscape. I have worked at Google as a program manager mobile and
after Google, I worked at a satellite manufacturing company called Space Systems Loral. The
former is a software company and latter is a hardware company. At Google, they have embraced
agile methodologies for software development, as the company is very progressive in nature.
They are also very open to feedback from their users, and therefore agile allows them to take in
product suggestions and address users needs with no predetermined rigid requirements from clients
or users for initial requirements. Work is done in mini project or sprints format and when there is a
need to shift directions, everything already worked on is scrapped if not necessary, and then a
complete reset occurs. Since the project s initial framework is not known at the time the project
starts, the final product can deviate drastically from what was initially envisioned. At Space
Systems Loral, being that it is a hardware satellite manufacturing company, they inherently have to
adopt the waterfall methodology for their needs.

Faha Insured Loans Pros And Cons
Pros and Cons of FHA insured loans
Families that have low or moderate income looking for a mortgage have a lifesaver in FHA
insured loans. Loans insured by Federal Housing Administration otherwise known as FHA loans
are great for families that do not have a high income. FHA insured loans are government backed
loan programs designed to help families get new loans of their homes at extremely low costs
compared to conventional mortgage loans.
One of the major misconceptions about FHA insured loans that need to be clear is the source of the
loans. It is worth knowing that the Federal Housing Administration does not give out loans. Instead,
the agency insures loans given to borrowers by lending institutions. This insurance consequently
makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These drawbacks have somewhat affected borrowers demand for FHA loans. Some of these
drawbacks are as follows.
One of such disadvantages is the limits set by FHA on loan amount that can be taken by
borrowers. This measure is to ensure that the privilege is not abused by borrowers and only
families that fall within the approved income bracket benefit from the loan.
Another drawback of FHA insured loans to some people is the requirement that borrowers must
reside in the house and use it as their primary residence. This condition makes the loan not suitable
for persons that are looking to purchase a home as a vacation spot or as an investment property.
The reason for the restriction is that the loans are designed for families that are trying to get a home
for themselves.
One of the major features of getting an FHA insured loan is that borrowers need to go through an
FHA approved lending institution. However, this is only part of the process, and fortunately, there
are tens to hundreds of lending institutions approved by the Federal Housing Administration to
provide mortgage loans to

The Civil War And The American War
The question of what caused the Civil War is debatable because there are several events that may
have influenced the war such as the Western Expansion, Manifest Destiny and the Mexican
American War. The war also stems from slavery, the North and South basically fought over
whether or not slavery should be permitted. Another point that may have influenced the Civil War
is the economic and social structure of the country, which also falls under slavery because the
South main source of income was slavery and the North completely opposed this viewpoint, even
though they did not believe blacks and whites as equals. Another point that may have provoked
the Civil War is state rights because each state would have and the right to decide if they wanted
to prohibit Slavery or not. Both Johnson and Zinn had interesting views Western Expansion,
Manifest Destiny and the Mexican American War as it relates to the Civil War and they both had
similar points on each topic. However, Johnson stated that Americans wanted more land and they
were not satisfied after the Louisiana Purchase. This is where the Manifest Destiny came about to
continue the expansion of America. The term Manifest Destiny was coined by John L. O Sullivan
and in the document John L. O Sullivan, Manifest Destiny (1845) he explained the importance of
the expansion. O Sullivan stated that Texas was a part of the union and it should not be seen just
as geographical space and more than just a country but a way to fulfil the

Analysis Of The Article Selection, Slanting, And Charged...
According to Birk and Birk in Selection, Slanting, and Charged Language , the word slanting
could be used for or against or it can be used both ways. In Mokoto Rich s article is for the
Federal Guidelines. Now slanting by use of the devices of emphasis is unavoidable, for emphasis
is simply the giving the stress to the subject matter, and so indicating what is important and what
is less important (Birk and Birk2). It s basically stressing certain words and they can produce a
positive or negative outcome. In Rich s article is in favor if Federal Guidelines, because once you
start picking the article and going over it, sentenceby sentence, she had more to say about the
inequalities that the students are facing in their schools.
Rich s article uses slating throughout the paper, trying to push the reader to favor what the
author is saying. According to Birk, Each different stress gives you a different slant (favorable
or unfavorable or balanced) to the statement because it conveys a different attitude (Birk and
Birk2). The way the author emphasis the words in the article gives you a clue, on whether they
are in favor or against or balanced. For example, some of the words are must have equal access to
comparable programs, materials and facilities (Rich). The key words that seem to be stressed on
more in must have equal which suggests that the schools have to have it, she could ve used a
different words, but instead she used those. Birk and Birk suggests that we can

The Success Of Accuracy And Efficiency Of Neuromorphic...
The success of accuracy and efficiency of neuromorphic architectures led to the the advent of more
applications that demanded even more work in this field.Advancement at architecture level and
state of the art in silicon neural processing began in the early 1980 s when Carver Mead, widely
regarded as the father of neuromorphic computing, wrote the book Analog VLSI and Neural
Systems. . The following sections of the paper provide a comprehensive survey of the prior art
discussing the current trends in neuromorphic chips.
A.Device Technology and NeuronArchitecture
Developments in electronic devices is trending towards lesser area and more functionality. This
trend has been driven by Moore s Law (*?) [1965_Moore] which states that transistor density will
double every 18 months and as it is evident from roadmap of semiconductor technology that this law
has reached its bottleneck[3].So when scaling in terms of dimensions and voltage was no longer
and effective alternative we enter into the More than Moore regime that involves exploring other
alternative strategies for improving efficiency and transistor density and neuromorphic architectures
is one of them. Digital neurons are able to have high throughput, consume less power, and increase
the density, which make a compelling argument for their future.Analog neuron don t affect scaling
yet they still have a seat at the table when it comes to neuromorphic architectures. Authors

Aneurysm Essay
Introduction
Despite considerable advances in surgical treatment, the ruptured human abdominal aortic
aneurysm (AAA) is still associated with a mortality rate of 65 85% [1, 2] . A diameter is currently
the only reliable determinant of the imminent rupture of an AAA and patients exceeding 5.5 cm
generally undergo surgical or endovascular intervention [2, 3] . However, the outcome of rupture is
poor with less than half of the patients being delivered to the hospital alive [1, 4] . It is well known
that inflammation and proteolytic degradation markedly contributes to the formation and rupture of
an AAA [5, 6] . During inflammation, the aortic wall is weakened by loss of smooth muscle cells
(SMCs) and destruction of the extracellular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, another study described increased expression of ADAM 17, also known as TACE (TNF
converting enzyme), in human AAA [18] . Especially in the transition zone, high levels of ADAM
17 and TNF have been detected , implementing a certain role in the development of AAA.
Therefore, the aim of the present study was to conduct an expression analysis of ADAMs with
proteolytic function [19] such as ADAMs 8, 9, 10, 12, 15 and 17, and their tissue inhibitors of
metalloprotease (TIMP) 1 and TIMP 3 [20] in human AAA by quantitative PCR. The localisation of
the corresponding ADAMs was determined by means of immunohistochemistry.
Discussion
The development of AAA is closely associated with alternation of connective tissue in the aortic
wall, especially fragmentation of elastic fibres and collagen degradation through various
proteolytic enzymes, particularly MMPs [8, 9, 22] . Some promising drugs inhibiting MMPs have
already been shown to be successful in experimental models [23] . However, no positive results
have been observed in clinical trials. This phenomenon may be based on the fact that MMPs are not
the only proteinases able to degrade connective tissue. There is a plethora of proteolytic enzymes
belonging to the family of metalloproteinases such as ADAMs with multiple biological roles
including cell matrix interaction, zymogen activation (shedding) and cell adhesion. These

Stop Poverty
Currently, our society is going through many issues but the biggest problem that needs to be
stopped is poverty. Poverty is easily the largest issue facing our world today. It kills thousands
and thousands of people every year. Not only are there adults but there are children out there
starving and dying too. We as a society have the power to end poverty right now but choose to
spend that money towards other mostly unnecessary things. One of the main reasons that so many
people fall into poverty or stay in poverty is because they are uneducated. Inequality affects
everyone around the world but it is also a huge cause of poverty. Inequality also makes it harder to
find a way out of the hole that is poverty. Lastly whether or not the childis born into poverty affects
the rest of their life, if they can t find their way out of poverty there whole life is set to not be as
good as it should be and if they decide to have kids they will be putting their children in the same
situation.
121 million children are out of education and this needs to be changed now. One cannot expect a
child without the opportunity to learn to succeed in life. The amount of skill, education,
experience, and intelligence a child is sent out into the world with will determine where they end
up. About a fifth or 22% of children growing up in poverty do not graduate. More than 1.3 billion
people live on less than two dollars a day while some people spend a hundred dollars like it s
nothing. In some

How Does Washington Use Foreshadow In The Legend Of Sleepy...
First way Washington s used foreshadow in the story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was
whenever Brom told the story about headless horse man attacking someone on the bridge. When
Ichabod was walking he remembered the story that brom was telling and got scared cause he
didn t want to get attacked in the same spot which was on the bridge. When he was walking on
the bridge he saw the headless horse man which really wasn t it was brom trying to scare him by
dressing up like the headless horse man. It was just to scare Ichabod out of town so he didn t
have to worry about Ichabod trying to get with Katrina. Broms plans worked to because Ichabod
left right away out of town and started a new life in a different town. In the story Sleep Hollow

The reason it is foreshadow because Brom knows he is scared. Since brom knows he is scared he
knows he can be scared easily because he is already scared of seeing the horseman. So brom can use
that as a way to get Ichabod out of town by dressing up like the headless horseman and scaring
Ichabod right out of town so he don t have to worry about another man getting Katrina who is rich
and a daddy s girl and can get whatever she wants. So all along Brom was foreshadowing by telling
a story about someone and making them believe it and frightening them and then once he scares
them he pretty much does what he told to the person he frightened in the story which was

How Did Abraham Lincoln Changed America
There has been many great men and women in America that has been an influence in the United
States of America who strived to make the United States a better country. One of the many people
who has been and continues to be one of the great American influential people is the sixteenth
president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln strove to do his duties to serve America
during his presidency. He served our country during the time of conflict and kept our country from
falling apart during the American Civil War. Also, Lincoln gave his life for what he believed in.
Other people might believe that there are better American war heroes or technological advances in
the United States; I personally believe Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest because he
changed America for the better through one of the toughest times of war for America, and he put
his strong mind into ending slavery. Abraham Lincoln entered his reign of Presidency during the
time of many chaotic conflicts. By the time Lincoln was inaugurated as 16th U.S. president in

treatment of oxidative stress and immunesenescence. Immunological agents of plant origin enhance
the immune responsiveness of an organism against a pathogen by non specifically activating the

resulting from oxidative stress. Nowadays there has been increasing interest in the investigation of
medicinal plants for the discovery of new antimicrobial, immunomodulatory and antioxidant

Similarities Between Catt And Susan B Anthony
Woodrow Wilson, Carrie Chapman Catt, and Susan B. Anthony share a common purpose in their
addresses advocating women s suffrage.Wilson s Address to the Senate on the Nineteenth
Amendment expresses the opinion he holds about the lack of control over women being able to
vote; he prioritizes the use of logos to create an argument consisting of present fact and his own
belief of how the rest of the world will see them as a nation if they do not ratify the Nineteenth
Amendment. Catt s The Crisis analyzes her present issue of the acknowledgement of women s
suffrage. Catt explains that through the acknowledgement of women s suffrage, women have been
given more freedom, yet not the same equality as men. Catt wants more than just exceptions to
social rules, she wants people to understand that a woman is not only an imperative cog in the
societal machine, but equality should never be a crisis again. Susan B. Anthonywastes no time
getting to the point in On Women s Right to Vote; she instantly begins her speech with a strong
denial of allegations thrown her way and moves right in to speak about the government basing a
law off the sex of a person and how the government is not treated as a democracy. Through each of
these addresses Wilson, Catt, and Anthony are divided by their point of view and united by their
cause, yet only Carrie Chapman Catts address holds the most effective reasoning.

Italy Balance Of Power Essay
1. In order for Italy to have the balance of power, they allowed large cities to use diplomacy,
spies, paid informers, and any other way to get information that could be used to advance some of
their ambitions while the states of northern Europe would move toward centralization and
consolidation. This would allow one Italian state to appear to gain a strong position within the
peninsula and to have other states combine to be able to establish a balance of power which helps
use this power against the major threats. During the balance of power, Italians invented the
machinery of modern diplomacy which allowed the ambassadors to gain more power. By having

  • 2. Zionism and Non Zionists Essays Zionism declares that the Jews are more than a purely religious body, they are not only a race but also a nation (Berkowitz 376). Theodor Herzl, the father of political Zionism, states, We are a people one people. Both Herzl and Berkowitz have interesting key points about a Jewish State, the Jewish religion in general, and how to solve current issues in the religion. A State is formed by a social contract and is still being created today. Rousseau states, The conditions of this contract are so precisely defined by the nature of the agreement that the slightest alterations would make them null and void. The consequence is that, even where they are not expressly stated, they are everywhere identical, and everywhere tacitly accepted and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This fact proves that all Jews should and will stand together to solve and work out the problems such as poor treatment and portrayal. Herzl emphasizes, It is true that the Jewish State is conceived as a peculiarly modern structure on unspecified territory. But a State is formed, not by pieces of land, but rather by a number of men united under sovereign rule. For example, the portrayal of Jews from a non Zionist is much different from Zionists. It is an egregious and fatal error of the Zionists that they accept the misery of Israel as permanent, his wretchedness as hopeless (Berkowitz 372). Although forming a State or declaring an important religion can be difficult, there are many other risks such as, land disputes, current communities moving to a new land, views of merging with other countries, past and future suffering, and the most important, the emphasis on religion or nation. The first step to becoming a respected religious State is forming a society of Jews to perform scientific and political tasks. Second, Christians and current citizens of the State would be forced to move and find new land, like in times of war or destroyed land. Herzl does point out that if the Jewish State had help from the Christians it would become a peaceable voluntary departure of colonists. Third, the Jews have attempted to merge many places in the social life of other countries and to prefer faith of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Assessing The Effect Of A New Teaching Approach Part B. Descriptive statistics: assessing the effects of a new teaching approach 1. The main goal of the analysis being conducted is to assess whether the new curriculum on basic electricity in basic science yields better achievement outcomes compared to the existing curriculum, which is a more traditional teaching approach, for elementary school students in both urban and suburban schools. In doing this analysis some questions that will be key to this study is to reveal if this new curriculum is beneficial when compared to the traditional teaching approach. Indeed, some students are randomly assigned to both the new curriculum and to the traditional teaching approach. As a result, through this randomization biases will be kept from occurring. This investigation is important because it will be determined what yielded better results through focusing on examining differences in the posttest variable for children who did or did not experience the new curriculum. 2. After downloading the data file (Assignment 1.dta) and reading it on Stata, I was allowed to see that there were some values that were missing: five to be exact. In other words, examining the ids I was able to see that the number did not correlate with the id. The ids went to 178 and there were only 173 entries. Indeed, the ids that were missing were 57,104,123,146, and 157. This was in contrast to running the codebook command for each variable id, treatment, urban, female, lowach, posttest which produced a table ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Descent The Most Beautiful Death The short film, Descent is about a dying man and his very vivid memories shown through dance. The movie won many awards including, the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and Best Music and Dance at the Global Short Film Award. The film also won the Excellence film award from Indie Fest. The entire film is less than five minutes but it has so much content in it. I m usually not the kind of person that watches live performances or goes to dance recitals. I have trouble understanding them and this film was no exception, but it was so beautiful to watch that I m not upset that I wasn t sure what was happening. I have a million different ideas of what the dancers could mean with their movements but I m not sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin their dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out his substance from his body while he dies in her arms. Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it that makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone created ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of their unique features includes powerful jaw and a enlarge wrist bone that functions as an opposable thumb to help them eat bamboos. But when a group of Chinese researchers tested the gut microbiome of giant pandas by sequencing ribosomal RNA in their feces and comparing it to other mammals like bears and lions. They are surprised of the results, that showed pandas are lacking the plant digesting bacteria like Ruminococcaceae and Bacteroides which help properly digest plants. • 6. Montclair Art Museum Analysis The Montclair Art Museum is located in Montclair, New Jersey. The museum holds various collections throughout the year and offers an outlet for students and other artists to explore within their facilities. Upon visiting, the main exhibition presented was Matisse and American Art. This exhibition held 19 pieces created by Henri Matisse and other American artists. The museum centered on central theme of Matisse and there was a specific gallery of Matisse inspired Art. In this gallery I found Untitled #8 (2014) by Mickalene Thomas is a contemporary African American artist born January 28, 1917 in Camden, New Jersey. Thomas is best known for her paintings composed of rhinestones, acrylic, and enamel. She uses these mediums of in order to expand the defined view of beauty and what it means to be a woman. Her contemporary work draws from the world her and uses inspirations from history, pop culture to expand on different visions of race, beauty, sexuality, and gender. Untiled #8 was originally presented in her collection called TГЄte de Femme that opened in 2014 in a solo exhibit in the Lehman Maupin Gallery in New York, New York. Untitled #8 can be visualized as a female face fragmented in cubist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The face is over exaggerated in its features and is almost clown like. It tests the ideas of gender, identity, and race. The only reason I would assume that this portrait is a woman because the collection of which it was originally presented was named Head of a Woman. However, this easily can be represented as a man due to its angles, and there was not an overly dominant color that is generally associated with a specific gender. This leads into the topic of identity especially in the twenty first century where people have become freer to express their identity and beliefs. Lastly, I think Thomas was trying to add the topic of race into the piece with the afro inspired pattered and similarities to African ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Passion Of Joan Of Arc And Sweet Smell Of Success By... Silent films ushered in the era of moving pictures and paved the way to modern cinema. Films such as The Passion of Joan of Arc and Sweet Smell of Success represent the early and later stages of this time period that was dominated by silent films. Within these films, two actors stand out for their performances and there own unique traits they utilize to make the character they are representing their own. RenГ©e Jeanne Falconetti and Burt Lancaster both are superb leading actors that, through their own methods, make these characters come alive. Regardless of these performances though, there are both similarities and differences that they portray in their movies. These films were shot with cameras that lacked a multitude of settings and this led to a very theater esque method of filming. Many of these silent films were shot with non moving cameras, obviously no sound, and also less effects. [BRING UP READING IN REGARDS TO INTRO TO FILMS] This lack of supplemental technology forced these actors to up their game so to speak and really carry the filmthemselves, rather than saturate the screen with fancy effects that so many modern movies revolve around. This forced the director to focus on the facial expressions of the cast in order to display both tone and intent during every scene. Live music sometimes accompanied these films in order to help set these moods so the actorcould focus on character development and expression. The first character to be discussed is ... This is the century we have to change what we believe in. As difficult times are ahead of us and approach us. This is when a we need to change. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the main host of most of the acts that happened during this time. He dedicated a decade of his life to see if he could pursuit racial equality and social justice. • 9. The Role Of Women In Matthew LewisThe Monk And The Italian Matthew Lewis The Monk differs from Ann Radcliffe s The Italian in its portrayal of women. Since both The Monk and The Italian feature prominent female religious leaders, comparing the different ways The Monk and The Italian portray this specific group of women sheds light on each author s attitude toward female agency. The latter refers to the ability to exercise control in pursuing individual goals. Both The Monkand The Italian depict tyrannical head nuns abusing their agency. However, the horrific descriptions and exclusive focus on diabolical nuns in The Monk exudes a pessimistic attitude towards female agency as invariably leading to catastrophes. By contrast, The Italian reveals a more optimistic attitude towards female agency through its more subtle depiction of the cruel nuns and its acknowledgement of benevolent nuns, proposing that female agency can be channeled to good causes. In The Monk, the Prioress abuses her agency in tyrannical ways. The Prioress imprisons women and rules by fear, oppressing the women within her convent. She consider[s] [women of rank] quitting the Convent, as a disgrace thrown upon it and will use every artifice to avoid [that] (169). Not only does she imprison women, she also subdues them by fear as seen by how Mother St. Ursula describes her fear that her every action [is] observed, [her] every step [is] traced and that [she is] constantly surrounded by the Superior s spies (273). • 11. What Is The Growth Of Poverty In Canada The article The Growth of Poverty and Social Inequality: Losing Faith in Social Justice by Ann Duffy and Nancy Mandell displayed many important facts about poverty in Canada. I believe the most important information I got from this article is how intersectionality largely effects poverty in Canada. From children to women to disabled, the article showed how each group is more affected by povertythan their counter parts. I believe it is important to acknowledge the different groups and how poverty affects them separately, as well as how poverty affects them when they are intersected. Canada is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, however, many citizens are below the blurred poverty line. (251). The poverty line in Canada is measured by the LICO IAT (boooook) and the MBM (253). The resources for those below the poverty line are very poor; food banks and shelters are unable to uphold the amount of people that are in need of them. (252). Among the poor, many people have paid employment, however, it is not enough. Poverty in Canada is largely based on intersectionality; how different aspects of a person combine to form a... I believe that if society stopped grouping people into categories such as female, indigenous, disabled, etc. than intersectionality would have less of an effect on poverty then it does now. The Relationship Between Geography, Climate And Economic... 1.Introduction The purpose of the study is to establish and evaluate the relationship between geography, climate and economic performance through individual income levels. This has been very vast area of consideration in the academic community. Therefore, on the basis of extensive literature survey and previous research analytics on similar disciplines, the scope of the present research would be conducting a two stage econometric estimation, mainly regression to compute the relationship at the municipal level income data per person across a computed set of geographical variables. Geography and environment has a closer impact on socio economic development of a region. Historical data has revealed that geography has some effect on shaping the economic history. However, the amount of variance is an important consideration. Tropics are varied by broad climatic zones and economies as well (Torres Mendez, 2000; 2002, Inter American Development Bank, 2000). As a result, the research would identify the key geographical and climatic factors from the national database and analyze its relationship with income per person longitudinal data for a time period of 1950 to 2014. This paper will analyze this variance to test and interpret the condition of multicollinearity using a regression analysis, as some geographical factors might be highly correlated impacting the ultimate results. 1.1Research Questions In the overview of understanding the dependency of climatic, geographical and ... Fourteen billion sinks and ends up damaging life on the ocean floor and the rest floats and end up in gyres and garbage patches (Silverman). This strikes much concern because plastic is not biodegradable; therefore, plastic floats there forever because microbes do not recognize it as food. Making matters worse, the sunlight photo degrades the bonds in plastic polymers and makes plastic smaller for tiny marine organisms to consume (McLendon) The United Nations Environment Program estimated in 2006 that every square mile of ocean hosts 46,000 pieces of floating plastic ( Silverman ). Reducing the amount of plastic consumed, would lessen the amount of compost that is not biodegradable. Numerous tribulations to the health of marine life ensue as a result of the Garbage Patch. To marine life, plastic is like a poison. Filter feeders suck the tiny particles up resulting in their bodies being marred. Some animals eat the plastic which sometimes poisons them or leads to fatal blockages. Because there is a lot of predation in the ocean, the poison that encompasses the bodies of marine life affects the entire food chain (Silverman). • 32. The Temperature Dependence Of Magnetization M ( T ) Next, the temperature dependence of magnetization M(T) curves of Mn3Cu1 xGdxN under a magnetic field of 100 Oe is shown in Figure 3. For x = 0.15, decreasing from 300 to 147 K, the ZFC and FC curves are virtually indistinguishable, and then an abrupt magnetic transition from PM to FM with a pronounced ZFC FC irreversibility appears at a TC of ~146 K, as shown in Figure 3a. Noticeably, with a slightly increase in the Gd content from 0.15 to 0.17, the M(T) curves (Figure 3b) exhibit entirely different features, in which two magnetic transitions are clearly observed. One is the typical PM FM phase transition located at high temperature (TC1), and the other is the FM antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition at low temperature (TC2). Further increasing the Gd content, the TC1 shifts to high temperatures (from 164 to 239 K), while the TC2 gradually moves towards low temperature (from 118 to 99 K) as demonstrated in Figures 3c and 3d. In addition, to further verify the low temperature magnetic features, the temperature dependent high magnetic fieldmagnetization was measured under 20 kOe, as shown in the insets of Figures 3a d. Obviously, a typical AFM peak is observed from the inset as displayed in Figures 3b d, and the decreased slope of PM FM transition suggest that it is the second order transition induced by Gd doping. Homer s Sirens While both poems of the sirens portray the creatures as enticing, admitting to the deadliness of the song they sing (PrPP), Atwood s rendition, with its perspective entirely from that of a siren herself, paints the sirens as more deceitful in their malevolent (SAT Vocab) coaxing of men, while the sirens of Homer s classic tale rely more on their beauty and ravishing voices, (Homer, 19) utilizing rhetorical appeals to attract sailors (PrPP Parallel Structure). These two poems compare in the continuities of their portrayals of the sirens admitting and acknowledging (Compound ABP) their overall goal of killing sailors and the general success of these efforts despite man s knowledge of the horrors that ensue from listening to the songs. The two works facilitate these similarities through various 1st hand accounts amongst their narrators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Homer s sirens reveal, never has any sailor passed our shore, (16) though not intended to serve as a warning, but nevertheless a subtle preview of what occurs once the sailors swoon to the angelic voices (NSC as OP). The inclusion of the siren s admission to the moribund (SAT Vocab) effects of their music directly examples the siren s openness and honesty concerning the impending peril of man when exposed to the siren s temptations. Similarly, in Atwood s work, the siren bluntly describes her song as one nobody knows because anyone who has heard it is dead, (Atwood, 7 9) this use of enjambment blatantly outlining the lethal effects of the song. However, Atwood s sirens more directly acknowledge the disastrous results of lending one s ear to their music, while Homer s sirens less directly foreshadow the fact that no man has ever sailed by after hearing the song. Also, through the 1st hand accounts of Odysseus in Homer s work and the siren in Atwood s work, the desire in man to flock to the siren song, despite the awareness of his impending death, becomes clear. • 34. The Industrial Revolution Of The Green Revolution Introduction To date, historical evidence, from the industrial revolution to the green revolution, show that agriculture growth has long been the engine of development. This idea has long helped promoting the capitalist agriculture transition as the only path to rise resident s income (Zhang, et al., 2015) in order to get people out of poverty. Accordingly, many started celebrating the global rise in incomes as a success of those policies while the lagging in Africa showed the undermined inequalities and marginalisation of the most vulnerable categories. Yet, the specificity in Africa is, today, getting more and more attention as it shows not only the persistence of poverty but a high concentration in rural areas. Accordingly, the starting point of this paper is that agriculture growth is definitely necessary but the management of the transition process and the understanding of the past and the initial interconnected conditions lead to different path and development patterns beyond the polarized debate between traditional as pro poor and the advanced as urban bias. To do so, firstly a study of the different global patterns of poverty, where it is concentrated, who are the poor and the resulting social relations is needed. Afterwards, the concept of initial conditions will be explored with a focus on the role of the initial technical investment in shaping the urban bias development patterns. Finally, the two previous conditions will be explored with a political economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the geography in Sumer and Egypt was different, they held different views about their gods and beliefs. Even though they were two of the first civilizations, they developed different beliefs about their religion. The rivers and land were in both Sumer and Mesopotamia, a big part of the development of their views on religion. Mesopotamia was known as the land between two rivers because they were surrounded by the Euphrates and Tigris River. Annually the rivers would flood fertilizing Sumer s land. The Egyptians thought of this as a place of fear, terror and death. It was known as Deshret which meant red land because of the coloring of the landscape. • 37. Video Games Have Come A Long Way Video games have come a long way since Pac Man hit arcades in 1980. In the last thirty plus years, we have seen video games revolutionize art and entertainment. At first riding the coattails of computer advancements, video games now drive technological progress in the search for innovation and complete player immersion. Video games have started to go beyond the quest for the best graphics. Games like Pokemon Go are pushing the bar and blurring the line between the game and real life through augmented reality. Video games now give many people motivation in life and allow for more human interaction in both the real and virtual world. In many ways, video games are the human attempt to succeed where evolution has failed us. Evolution has equipped humans with the ability to survive, but survival means something completely different nowadays. We no longer need to hunt with our hands, hide away from predators, or scavenge for food. Our landscape has changed from the wilds to the shopping mall. When the modern human faces the situation of how do I speak to someone I find attractive? or delivery, dine in, or take out? As silly as it may sound, these simple, specific examples are the type of problems that have replaced predators and famine what mechanisms have humans gained from evolution to face these problems? The empirical evidence, suggests that immigrants improve labor market efficiency by providing additional and complementary labor force. Labor market impact of immigration depends on the size and geographic location of the immigrant population and on the skills they bring to the labor market and how these skills compare with those of natives (Borjas, 2006:4). Broadly speaking, immigration is not detrimental to the host labor market or economy. Most of the research on the labor market impact of immigration has been concerned with the impact of immigration on wages rather than labor force participation or unemployment rates. Borjas (2003) noted that the impact of wages fluctuates from study to study but clusters around zero which is contradictory with theoretical prediction of a downward pressure. Whether the reasons are methodological issues (misspecification, endogeneity, and heterogeneity), market forces in specific cases (area vs. factor proportion approach4) or institutional factors has not been established. A meta analysis of international research (Longhi et at, 2004) identifies common findings that are also likely to apply to Argentina. The Cultural Elements Of Kaffir Boy By Mark Mathabane The Cultural Elements of Kaffir Boy Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane is an incredibly complex novel detailing the author s childhood and coming of age in a South Africa gripped by apartheid. It also describes his steadfast pursuit of tennis as a means of escaping the aforementioned system that legalized and even encouraged racism. Though the autobiography captures copious personal struggles and internal conflicts, the elements of the text that truly stand out are the cultural ones these being the elements of society, religion, and politics. The most prevalent of these cultural elements, and the first one introduced to the reader, is the social element. On the very first page of chapter one, Mathabane states that, The white man of South Africacertainly does not know me. He certainly does not know the conditions under which I was born and had to live for eighteen years. So my story is intended to show him with words a world he would otherwise not see because of a sign and a conscience racked with guilt and to make him feel what I felt when he contemptuously called me a Kaffir boy. The contrasting requirements need of the two methodologies, is one of the main contrast points in today s project life cycle processes. There is a constant struggle between the two processes even in today s business landscape. I have worked at Google as a program manager mobile and after Google, I worked at a satellite manufacturing company called Space Systems Loral. The former is a software company and latter is a hardware company. At Google, they have embraced agile methodologies for software development, as the company is very progressive in nature. They are also very open to feedback from their users, and therefore agile allows them to take in product suggestions and address users needs with no predetermined rigid requirements from clients or users for initial requirements. Work is done in mini project or sprints format and when there is a need to shift directions, everything already worked on is scrapped if not necessary, and then a complete reset occurs. Since the project s initial framework is not known at the time the project starts, the final product can deviate drastically from what was initially envisioned. At Space Systems Loral, being that it is a hardware satellite manufacturing company, they inherently have to adopt the waterfall methodology for their needs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another drawback of FHA insured loans to some people is the requirement that borrowers must reside in the house and use it as their primary residence. The war also stems from slavery, the North and South basically fought over whether or not slavery should be permitted. Another point that may have influenced the Civil War is the economic and social structure of the country, which also falls under slavery because the South main source of income was slavery and the North completely opposed this viewpoint, even though they did not believe blacks and whites as equals. Another point that may have provoked the Civil War is state rights because each state would have and the right to decide if they wanted to prohibit Slavery or not. According to Birk and Birk in Selection, Slanting, and Charged Language , the word slanting could be used for or against or it can be used both ways. In Mokoto Rich s article is for the Federal Guidelines. Now slanting by use of the devices of emphasis is unavoidable, for emphasis is simply the giving the stress to the subject matter, and so indicating what is important and what is less important (Birk and Birk2). It s basically stressing certain words and they can produce a positive or negative outcome. However, the outcome of rupture is poor with less than half of the patients being delivered to the hospital alive [1, 4] . Hence, another study described increased expression of ADAM 17, also known as TACE (TNF converting enzyme), in human AAA [18] . Especially in the transition zone, high levels of ADAM 17 and TNF have been detected , implementing a certain role in the development of AAA. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to conduct an expression analysis of ADAMs with proteolytic function [19] such as ADAMs 8, 9, 10, 12, 15 and 17, and their tissue inhibitors of metalloprotease (TIMP) 1 and TIMP 3 [20] in human AAA by quantitative PCR. The localisation of the corresponding ADAMs was determined by means of immunohistochemistry. Discussion The development of AAA is closely associated with alternation of connective tissue in the aortic wall, especially fragmentation of elastic fibres and collagen degradation through various proteolytic enzymes, particularly MMPs [8, 9, 22] . Some promising drugs inhibiting MMPs have already been shown to be successful in experimental models [23] . However, no positive results have been observed in clinical trials. This phenomenon may be based on the fact that MMPs are not the only proteinases able to degrade connective tissue. There is a plethora of proteolytic enzymes belonging to the family of metalloproteinases such as ADAMs with multiple biological roles including cell matrix interaction, zymogen activation (shedding) and cell adhesion.
