This document discusses the use of phytotherapy, or herbal medicine, for treating cancer. It outlines several plants that contain compounds shown to inhibit cancer growth or stimulate the immune system against cancer cells. These include betulinic acid from white-barked birch tree, quercetin from bioflavonoids, podophyllin from may apples, bromelain from pineapple, and withanolides from Ashwagandha. Many of these plants such as Echinacea, aloe vera, kombu, and turmeric contain antioxidants or activate macrophages and immune cells to fight cancer development and metastasis.
