Origins of Pilates and Joseph Pilates
The paper focuses on the origin of the Pilates method of exercise. It also takes a step by step journey
of Joseph Pilates (Joe) who was the founder of the Pilates method of exercise. Finally the paper will
consider Pilates in the contemporary world.
Pilates refers to a system of physical fitness that was established in the early 20th century. It was
developed by Joseph Pilates. Joe was a German born in the year 1880. He suffered from rickets,
rheumatic fever, and asthma during his childhood years. Because of the continuous suffering brought
by the foregoing conditions, Joe was very week and he always felt vulnerable in a rough realm. This
situation inspired him to embark on an enduring pursuit in a bid to gain health and the much needed ...

During the same period, Joe began to work individually with some clients, similar to what trainers in
the contemporary societies do in studios the world over (Robinson, 2002). His training became so
popular that in the year 1925, he was invited to work as a trainer of the German army. However,
Pilates was not content with the political stand that Germany was nurturing and he left Germany
again. He moved to the United States and settled in the New York upon the commendations of some of
his athlete and colleagues.
He met a lady known as Clara while aboard a steamer on his way to New York. Clara was suffering
from the symptoms of arthritis. Joe offered to cure her soreness through his devices and informed her
of his dream of establishing a studio where he would carry out his work and develop his exercising
methods further. Joe and Clara fell in love and soon after reaching New York they tied the knot. While
in New York Joe continued to develop his methods of exercise and together with Clara, his wife, they
established the very first Pilates studio in New York during the 1920s.
For the following decades, Joe devoted himself to training other people in his methods routines,
developing exercises, and use of apparatus. He also expressed his concepts in writing. He often
considered himself as the ideal test for the rationality of his methods of exercise (Pilates, 2012).
Through his methods, he was able to maintain a strong youthful body and effervescent strength for

Niemann Pick Disease Essay
Niemann Pick Disease
Niemann Pick Disease is an autosomal recessive disease, passed down through carrier parents, where
lipids gather in the cells of the spleen, liver, and brain creating an obstruction. There are four known
forms of the disease, Type A, Type B, Type C, and Type D, in which Type A and B compose Type I
and Type C and D make up Type II. Type A and B are a response to the lack of the enzyme acid
sphingomyelinase(ASM) which metabolizes sphingomyelin. When there is an absence of
sphingomyelinase the excess build up of sphingomyelin kills multiple cells stopping organ function.
Symptoms of Type A include: abdominal swelling, redness in the eye, feeding difficulties, and loss of
motor skills. Type A is the more severe of situations, not offering ... Show more content on

If Type C symptoms are present before the age of 1 it is not likely that the child will live to be five, if
symptoms arise during the school age it is possible that the child lives into their late teens, and in
some cases into their twenties. Type D is a variant of Type C, and is caused by a mutation in the NPC2
gene, creating, an abnormality in the interaction between cholesterol and brain cells. Type C is often
noticed affecting Puerto Ricans, while Type D is frequently observed to affect French Canadians. Type
II is most commonly diagnosed with a skin biopsy, in which skin cells would be observed while in the
process of moving and storing cholesterol. In Addition, other tests that may be performed are: bone
marrow aspiration, a liver biopsy, slit lamp eye exam, and sphingomyelinase assays. Miglustat has
been given as treatment for Type C patients to decelerate the nervous system symptoms, but there is
no treatment yet for Type D. Due to the mutations in DNA of Type C it is probable that a fetus could
be diagnosed while in the womb in specialized centers. Since both parents are carriers of this gene
mutation, there is a 25% chance their child will have this disease, and a 50% chance the

Major Luston Short Story
Major Luxon arrived, leading the Marines from the front; it was impressive to the Rowland family to
see the Marine Commander on the road with his men. Major Luxon met with Mr. and Mrs. Luxon for
about an hour. Mr. Rowland then asked the Major to follow him. Major Luxon shrugged and thought,
why not? The two men headed out to one of the many barns on the property. Mr. Rowland swung open
one of the doors, You think this will help you? Mr. Rowland asked Major Luxon. The barn was filled
from top to bottom with wheat and corn. We had a bumper crop this year and it seems to be all going
to waste, Mr. Rowland told the Major. I m not the one to make the decision Mr. Rowland; you would

Analysis Of The Movie The Ghost Of The Shell Trailer
Since the beginning of media, producers have created products that applied to the biggest audience.
Unreliable political and current event information and bias leads to underrepresentation of various
ethnicities and identities. Mass media coverage portrays figures that appeals to the larger audience,
hence, isolating others.
The Ghost In The Shell trailer was released on Nov. 13 2016 and featured Scarlet Johansson a white
actress. The film is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name. The protagonist, Major
Kusanagi is simply referred to as The Major and erases the identity of the main character. To justify
the casting choice, screenwriter Max Landis stated: There are no A list female Asian celebrities right

And although I wasn t sure if it was going to resonate with him, I took him anyway. When Diego Luna
s character came on screen and started speaking, my dad nudged me and said, he has a heavy accent. I
was like, Yup. When the film was over and we were walking to the car, he turns to me and says, did
you notice that he had an accent? And I said, Yeah dad, just like yours. Then my dad asked me if the
film had made a lot of money. I told him it was the second highest grossing film of 2016 despite it
only being out for 18 days in 2016 (since new year just came around). He then asked me if people
liked the film, I told him that it had a huge following online and great reviews. He then asked me why
Diego Luna hadn t changed his accent and I told him that Diego has openly talked about keeping his
accent and how proud he is of it. And my dad was silent for a while and then he said, And he was a
main character. And I said, He was. And my dad was so happy. As we drove home he started telling
me about other Mexican actors that he thinks should be in movies in America. Representation matters.
[9]
Normalizing a diverse cast in film can often begin to gently lift the minority labels.
From 2007 2012, only 12.4 percent of speaking characters in the top 500 grossing films were played
by black actors. Although one might think that is fair, given that African Americans make up 12.6
percent of the population, the

Tajikistan (officially the Republic of Tajikistan) is a mountainous landlocked country in Central Asia.
Afghanistan borders it to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and People s

Reflection Of Human Ethics
To start with, I must affirm you that throughout the course all the topics were essential to me and has
helped me improve my skill on human ethics. However, as it is suggested let me focus on the four
concepts that were very essential to me. First, ethics and values are very necessary in the human life
both personally and professionally. When serving my clients at work and contributing to communal
change, these were the first keys component for me to use in my daily activity, and also with my house
of values I succeeded to encourage the distinctive characteristics of human facilitiesin my community
because in doing this community service support the integrity and ethics of the incentive workers, help
clients and our community well being as well as increase our incentive payment. In my everyday
activity, ethics and values refer to the conduct of a professional and to the moral standards I embrace.
Therefore, some of the ethical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On one hand, the second concept is where I began to question and critiques my own perception on
what it mean to be a human since I know that being human I must be able to understand myself
through thinking, networking and action, and I believe that this critical points influenced my life s
perspective and make change totally the sense of who I am as a human. On the other hand, it was
explained in the Aquinas lecture that a person is fully substantial from the union expressed by the term
I (Clarke, 2004, p. 29), and I am convincing that to be fully human I really to know who I am as
substance. Even through, being in a moment is what makes me an excellent human whose life is

Example Of Leading By Example
Lead by Example: Fact or Fiction My family is really important to me. This is because they are always
helping me with my life. They help me decide what to do. The main person that leads me by example
is my sister Sara. She is always helping me up and down. Although, we fight, we make up. Two other
people that lead me by example are my mom and dad. They always tell me that you have to do
whatever you put your mind to. Leading by example is a big priority in my life because what you do
can affect other people in many different ways. But everyone is a leader if they try their best. People
may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do. Lewis Cass. Any body can lead by
example, it is simple if you try your best. Leaders are right in front of you. Parents, and teachers. They
try and lead you onto the right path. When you grow up with your parents and teachers leading you to
the right path. That will guide you to help other people on the right path. An article by Brent Gleeson
said that there are seven ways to lead by example, but I am only going to name two of the seven. The
first one is to get your hands dirty. By doing this you can learn to build ... Show more content on

Equity And Equality For Students
Equity and equality for students is all about enabling fairness and ensuring that all the students are
given the best possible chance to succeed in life irrespective of their identities or backgrounds
University of Birmingham (2015). In the course, we have learned that equity leads to success in
academic institutions and should therefore be encouraged. We have also learned that diversity is about
recognising, valuing and celebrating all the people from different backgrounds that live within our
societies. It is about creating a universal environment that is inclusive of these differences, where we
all feel welcome, valued and supported to succeed whatever our background or identity.
Equity and fair treatments in schools should however not be perceived to be about minority rights .
Rather, they should be viewed to cater for every situation in the learning environments and protects
every student from discrimination on the basis of their age, disability, pregnancy and maternity, race,
religion or belief, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, sex and sexual orientation. The miss
conception has led to standardization of academic programs and the achievements that the students are
expected to achieve, irrespective of their backgrounds and capabilities, which is actually counter
productive. The question is, Does equality and equity mean treating everybody the same? According
to University of Birmingham (2015), everyone should be treated fairly regardless of

Comparing Macbeth And Goold s Play
Macbeth, a play written by Shakespeare in 1606 is a tragedy surrounding a man Macbeth as he
unknowingly seals his own fate due to his own excessive ambition and greed. This tragedy has since
been taken to the big screen by many, one of which is director Rupert Goold. In 2010 Goold released a
television film version of play on the BBC. Despite the differences between the two, the movie does
effectively convey the overall message of the original story.
In Goold s version, we see pivotal moments such as the breaking of Macbeth and Lady Macbeths
bond. This moment is stressed just as much in the film as it is in the play because not only does it
show the breaking of such a strong bond, but it also leads into another important moment in which
Lady Macbeth is starting to get sort of delirious. The film also keeps up with the play and how it
makes sure to highlight certain symbols and motifs such as blood and darkness through setting and
lighting choice, special effects, staying true to the lines, etc. the director even goes as far as to
reinforce death through a different motif (dead children). As well as using dead bodies as apparitions.
All together the director has combined all these elements of the play to work well in film and show the
original theme/message of the play appropriately. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the movie is set during the Soviet Union, hinting at both the rule of Joseph Stalin who
was a power hungry man just like Macbeth (this connection is made through the portraits of Macbeth
shown throughout the film). While this does reinforce Macbeth s thirst for power, for some viewers it
is a little farfetched. In comparison to the play, film also uses modern day weaponry/methods of
fighting. But does not change the lines for such circumstances, and this for some, may also have a

The Culture Of The Word Culture
There are many laity use of the word culture that gets thrown around in day to day conversation
amongst our peers. Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a daily
basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who feel that we
all live our own individual unique culture in our lives. However, being that culture is such a broad
subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try and understand it
based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of culture includes a
system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes embodying these values,
symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular definition of culture, the
small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. Their way of day to day lifestyle, geographical terrain, as
well as their military history can all be analyzed through their culture as well as provide information in
terms of our current military jargon for the benefit of the United States Army.
Culturally, Okinawans separate themselves from the association of the Japanese culture, even though
they are still considered a territory of Japan. The differences in their landscape, their way of life,
language, and even their societal infrastructure are the basis of their adamant separation from Japan.
Its geographical complexities are also what make Okinawa unique from its neighboring

Biotechnology Controversy
Biotechnology is a broad term. Basically, it is the tools and techniques [opening] new research
avenues for discovering how healthy bodies work and what goes wrong when problems arise (Siedler
para. 1). It covers controversial technology and procedure, like genetic engineering and gene therapy.
It is controversial because it can affect everyone(Jeremy para. 16). As a consequence, the development
of biotechnology has been a slow, quiet progress (Kirsner para. 3) because society may or may not
recognize the repercussion of it. However, scientist like Smith a previous chief for the Cambridge

Essay on Current Status Of Malaria Vaccinology
Current Status of Malaria Vaccinology
In order to assess the current status of malaria vaccinology one must first take an overview of the
whole of the whole disease. One must understand the disease and its enormity on a global basis.
Malaria is a protozoan disease of which over 150 million cases are reported per annum. In tropical
Africa alone more than 1 million children under the age of fourteen die each year from Malaria. From
these figures it is easy to see that eradication of this disease is of the utmost importance.
The disease is caused by one of four species of Plasmodium These four are P. falciparium, P .malariae,
P .vivax and P .ovale. Malaria does not only effect humans, but can also infect a variety of hosts
ranging from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At present people infected with Malaria are treated with drugs such as
Chloroquine, Amodiaquine or Mefloquine. These drugs are effective at eradicating the exoethrocytic
stages but resistance to them is becoming increasing common.
Therefore a vaccine looks like the only viable option.
The wiping out of the vector i.e. Anophels mosquito would also prove as an effective way of stopping
disease transmission but the mosquito are also becoming resistant to insecticides and so again we must
look to a vaccine as a solution Having read certain attempts at creating a malaria vaccine several
points become clear. The first is that is the theory of Malaria vaccinology a viable concept?
I found the answer to this in an article published in Nature from July 1994 by
Christopher Dye and Geoffrey Targett. They used the MMR (Measles Mumps and
Rubella) vaccine as an example to which they could compare a possible Malaria vaccine Their article
said that quot;simple epidemiological theory states that the critical fraction (p) of all people to be
immunised with a combined vaccine
(MMR) to ensure eradication of all three pathogens is determined by the infection that spreads most
quickly through the population; that is by the age of one with the largest basic case reproduction

Key Features Of The Pseudo Code
Pseudo Code is a concept that allows programmer to define certain logic in terms of plain simple
steps, which can act as a solution to the problem.
Pseudo Code is important because it helps the programmer to define the logic before implementing the
actual program. This can be extremely important when a programmer is trying to solve a very
complex program. In such cases, the programmer can understand the problem and define all the
possible solutions steps in completeness and also get it verified without the corresponding output
defined. It helps programmer to save significant time and cost while implementing the actual program.
Since, the Pseudo Code is defined in a natural language it can easily be understood by other
programmers as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Key features of Procedural Programming
Procedural Programming is made of a few key features, which are given below:
Pre defined functions: Functions that are frequently needed are defined as a part of the programming
language itself so that the programmer can easily use these functions for most common functionality,
which is also very repetitive.
For Example:
A function like System.out.println can be used to output the content on the command prompt or as an
output of the function.
Global variables: Global variables are variables that are defined at the beginning of the program and
can be accessed through the execution of the entire program. The Global variable is usually defined as
a static variable.
Local variables: Local variables are variables that can only be accessed within the certain section of
the code like a function or method and not available during the complete execution of the program. In
certain cases if the local variable is redeemed with the same name as a global variable then the local
variable will take precedence in the corresponding

Letter Of Recommendation For Electrical Engineering
Letter of Recommendation
I found this Letter of Intent an opportunity to express my zeal towards the area of study Electrical
engineering with Alternative Energy as a specialization. So far, Electrical engineering has been an
integral part of my academic life and my goals are crystal clear of translating my prior knowledge and
experience into real world system developments.
For the very first time when I saw gigantic windmills, I had a lot of questions on my mind. This was
the time when I was a school student and didn t have any prerequisite knowledge. Someone told me to
that Windmill Systems are developed by Electrical Engineers. Another minor event impacted my
career goals when frequent electricity outages at our home enforced us to buy ... Show more content

I remember myself as a bright student throughout my schooling. I was well versed in both academic
and extracurricular, especially in sports. My engineering was a bit of a different story. Over the four
years of engineering, I learned subjects related to Power Systems, Electronics, Analog and Electronic
Instrumentation, Microcontroller and Microprocessor, Control Systems, Electrical Machines. Etc.
Laboratory sessions of these subjects helped me to accumulate consciousness of practical usage of
electrical engineering. It gave me the opportunity to correlate theory to practical phenomena. This, in
turn, gave me a better understanding of the subject and newer lines of thinking. The course in
Electrical Engineering covered a wide panorama of subjects. I learned to program in C and MATLAB
which were extremely helpful in my practical works. My ideas and knowledge of electrical
engineering were first tested in the third year of engineering in the power electronics based project of
Pulse triggering circuit for triggering of SCR . Besides that, I was always exposed to co curricular
activities like vocational training at transmission

Homeostasis Informative Speech
What is homeostasis? Homeostasis is (1) The tendency of an organism or a cell to regulate its internal
conditions, usually by a system of feedback controls, so as to stabilize health and functioning,
regardless of the outside changing conditions (2) The ability of the body or a cell to seek and maintain
a condition of equilibrium or stability within its internal environment when dealing with external
changes . So what does homeostasis and hyperthermia have in common? I ll tell you what they have in
common pretty much homeostasis and hyperthermia both play a balancing act with its external
environment.
What is hyperthermia? Hyperthermia is a name given to a variety of heat related illness (Heat Stroke,
Heat Exhaustion, Heat Cramps and many more). Hyperthermia pretty much means your body has over
heated. So how does the human body react to hyperthermia? The human body kind of reacts like a car
engine, it also breaks down when it reaches its limits to absorb and dissipate too much heat A normal
temperature is 37.5 Celsius and 38.3 Celsius depending on what source you are going by. ... Show

Such as environmental temperature either indoor or outdoor. Of these environmental conditions it
would be caused from extreme temperature change. Either a hot house, or being in a cold house and
going outside to hot weather. That s like big shocker to your body. Another way the human body can
over heat is that it doesn t even involve the outdoor temperature, it can happen when you are
dehydrated, while being physical. Any illness that causes a fever, decreases in take of fluids, and also
loss of fluid. Last but not least medications. Some medications but not all can increase body heat. In
some cases hyperthermia is just an inconvenience, in others it may but just be mild, but sometimes it
is life threatening condition. Some of the conditions of hyperthermia are heat stroke, heat exhaustion,
heat cramps, heat syncope and heat

Ron Gilbert
Ron Gilbert, a game designer and the driving force behind the SCUMM engine, Humongous
Entertainment, and Cavedog , has throughout his career shown a wish for creativity, yearned for
storytelling and has always done whatever he could to develop the game he wanted to create (Murdey,
2006). In the field of game design, one of the greatest problems that a designer must solve is finding a
way to bring the game he has developed in his mind to his desired audience. This problem is twofold,
requiring both capital input and the invention of better software. In Ron s quest to solve these
problems and develop the game he wanted, he s gone through major publishers, created his own
companies, utilized crowdfunding campaigns, and developed in house engines ... Show more content

It s the most used due to the fact that it has the least work needed after the fact. The publisher sorts out
the several possible problems and pays for the development of the game. Beyond that, generally
publishers can reach audiences far larger than other means of development. Due to this, publishers are
usually quite picky about what games they choose to fund and develop. As Ron Gilbert (2006) stated,
If you don t come in wanting to spend $10 or $15 million, it s like they don t take you seriously at
some level, Publishers have historically looked down on lower budget games and this has caused
problems in the current era of the games industry. According to Gilbert, the greatest of these problems
is the need for every game to release as a home run, not allowing for minor successes (Murdey, 2006).
With publishers almost requiring higher budget games and even of those accepting only a few games,
there are unique problems with this method of development. Some of these problems include loss of
creative control over the project and the loss of a portion of the expected audience. Ron Gilbert, while
he s gone through publishers in the past, mainly during his time developing for LucasArts, he has
rarely been able to have his games published due to changes in expectations of the game industry
(Murdey, 2006). If this is a greater sacrifice than a designer is willing to take, there are ways around
using publishers to have a game

How Did Nationalism Affect Italian Unification
Nationalism: Might of Unity and Disunity Nationalism drives peoples of similar heritages and dreams
to take great pride in their own ethnic group or country. It brings new nations together and destroys
old one as a powerful and overwhelming force of both unity and disunity. Nationalism especially had
an effect on Italian unification, bringing the people to unite under three key leaders; Mazzini, Cavour,
and Garibaldi. While nationalism certainly brought Italians together, it spread far past the peninsula
and into the Austrian empire, where it broke the people apart. The Slavic groups under the umbrella of
Austria Hungary united themselves, dividing the empire and tearing it down. Both with dreams of

Even so, despite having different governments, the states were similar in their culture, heritage, and
language. Giuseppe Mazzini inspired Italians to realize their similarities and to take pride in
themselves. After all, Italy was where one of the greatest cultural and artistic movements took place,
the Renaissance.
Italy actually hadn t experienced true political unity since the Roman times, however, the Napoleonic
conquests gave the city states a taste of unity once more. Filled with Mazzini s words of freedom,
brotherhood, and unification, the Italian people grew in nationalistic ideals. But culture wasn t the
Italian states only similarity, they also shared a common enemy; Austria. To build themselves a self
governing state, nationalists had to defeat the mammoth foe. The area leading the assault on Austria
was the Kingdom of Sardinia, ruled under King Victor Emmanuel II. His goal was to unite northern
Italy, as breaking the trade barrier would grant him more power. King Emmanuel II appointed a
brilliant prime minister, nationalist leader and monarchist, Camillo Cavour. Cavour was willing to use

Topics in Labor Relations
Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name
implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something.
Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide
important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include
compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can
also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13).

This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who
championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions.
The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These
provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers
representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to
form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive
representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining
over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121).
The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and
prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life
example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft
manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its
787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line
is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was
because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future.

Dialectical Tension Examples
In Relationships that we deal with everyday there are dialectical tensions and issues that arise. These
tensions can greatly effect a relationship whether it be with a romantic partner, friend or family. In this
paper, I will define, discuss and give examples of three dialectical Tensions; describe how they have
impacted relationships in my life and how I ve managed these tensions with management strategies.
The three Tension I will discuss are autonomy vs. connectedness , novelty vs. predictability , and
openness vs. closedness . The four managing strategies for these dialectical tensions are: selection,
separation, neutralization, and reframing. The personal relationship in which I will use personal
examples in this paper will be my best friend and I and the tensions that we ... Show more content on

A way in which this is easily recognizable which way your relationship is between autonomy and
connectedness, Is whether the other person is saying I or is saying we . This tension happens often in
romantic relationships when one person wants to be with the other all the time, while the other feels
suffocated and has a need for individuality. Thus, too much integration comes with the loss of
autonomy and individuality, whereas extreme separation limits connection and can threaten the
relationship. (Sahlstein, E., Dun, T. 2008, p.37). Therefore either Autonomy or connectedness in a
relationship, too much of one or the either can issues emerge. A personal example of an experience
that I ve had is with my best friend and I. When we were in high school we both graduated early in
December, I went to a community college to get some credits before transferring to a four year
college, whereas he just took a break from everything. Every day when I got off of school we would

Comparing Blade Runner And Lillith s Brood
How do we know we are human? How do we know if we are alien? We have the same features, we do
the same things, we live as family. As seen in the movie Blade Runner. When you first glance at the
screen, you can barely tell the difference. I never understood why the chase in the movie, Why was
Deckerd running after Zhora? What crime did Zhora commit? Only to recognize that Zhora was being
chased, because she is a replicant. Bryant the Inspector orders Deckerd to get rid of the skinjobs which
are known as the replicants. From my understanding Bryant feels these replicants are taking over the
world. This scene is at the beginning of the movie only for Deckard to realize what was the point of all
this killing. The chasing to kill these Replicants made Deckard realize they had the same feelings,
thoughts and aspirations. When tables are turned and Deckerd is being chased. Fortunately for both
Deckerd and Leon one of the skinjobs that Deckerd was going to kill they realize they are both the
alike. On the other hand reading Lillith s Brood was somewhat different from the movie Blade
Runner.

Essay on United States Government and Federalism
Over the last two centuries the United States has grappled with the idea of federalism. While former
President James Madison had a very concrete understanding of that form of governance, In the
compound republic of America, the power surrendered by the people is first divided between two
distinct governments, and then portion allotted to each subdivided among distinct and separate
departments (Madison, 1788, p. 67), the United States has never had a conclusive division of power
between the state and the US Federal Governments. Instead of definitive spheres of governance as
Madison envisioned, over the years the US Federal Government has played an increasingly important
role in state matters. Beyond changes in the balance of power between ... Show more content on

This case established the precedent that the United States Federal Government could dictate the
countries monetary policies. More importantly, during this period the supremacy of federal law over
state law was established with the Nullification Crisis of 1832. The ensuing conflict established the
precedent that the states did not have the right to judge the constitutionality of acts of Congress. It was
not until the American Civil War and the resulting defeat of the Confederate States of America that the
supremacy of the US Federal Government in legislative and economic matters was established.
Between the conclusion of the American Civil War and the election of President Franklin D.
Roosevelt, the United States entered a period of definitive dual federalism. During this period
fundamental governmental powers were shared between the federal and state governments, with the
states exercising the most important powers (Lowi Ginsberg Shepsle Ansolabehere, 2010, p. 73).
While the US Federal Government left a majority of the decision making up to the states, unlike
before the Civil War, the supremacy of the Federal Government was no longer in question. Although
the government did establish various national standards during this period, it did little to enforce
compliance on the state level. For example, little was done to enforce the implementation of the 15th
amendment at the state

Few technical schools were established and the secondary modern became the cinderellas of the
education service despite providing for the majority of the school population. (Roger 1986: 3)
This extract shows that new system didn t manage to reduce the social division it merely replaced it
with a newer form of social division.
The nature/nurture debate is neither unique nor particular to the 1944 Act, but it is something to be
addressed. Nature, suggesting your intelligence is inherited from your parents and nurture, the belief
that learning is affected by the home and the school environment. Relating the debate to the 1944 Act,
brings to our attention the difference in education between social classes. The upper and middle class
children would have definitely had advantage over the working class children, in terms of cognitive
development, as their parents would have been well educated and able to pass on far greater
knowledge. They also would have had better living conditions and quieter homes to concentrate on
homework. The working class tended to have many children, shared bedrooms would have been
common, which was not the ideal learning environment.
The philanthropic aspects of the act were very much linked to the Second World War. The generally
poor fitness standards of the working class recruits highlighted to the government that changes needed
to be made. Free milk in schools, regular

The Pros And Cons Of Supportive Reasoning
supportive reasoning. Consider a unique scenario where fa , ga , hb, and Ib subjects are the stock of
belief and thereby the belief of a=b aspect is assumed, as soon as one accepts the identity he/she
automatically owes a justification to his/her supportive reasoning in relation to the contextual basis,
the three variables are basically related and mutually interlinked. Frege does assume that, depending
on the preposition expressed, the a=a expression is considered a priori while the second clause
expression a=b is a posteriori. The aspect behind this is that the formulation of the expression is often
considered by many as a petition principal to favor the perception that the sentences respectively
express different propositions. It is possible to formulate and state Frege s puzzle in a better way
without necessarily committing on either positive or negative side of the question or context, besides
the formulation, the understanding of the puzzle doesn t necessarily involve two singular terms a and
b, (Eros Jerome 2). In addition, the identity a=b can be contrasted into two uses to derive both
informative and uninformative sentences, and the number of singular terms used doesn t matter.
Lastly, being distinctive in the relevant notations of the original Frege s puzzle is likewise important:
cognitive value, from the typical puzzle, a=b is informatively expressed contrary to a=a , cognitive
content which is the part of information associated with the sentence subject, information content
which is what an individual learns and perceive the case by simply understanding and thereafter
accepting, in other words, it is the state which approves a sentence to be true and lastly semantic
content which implies the entire meaning decoded from the sentence and the individual strictly
respond to what the sentences basically expresses.
Solution to Frege s puzzle Incorporation of a metalinguistic approach which is related to Milian view.

Review of Movies, In Time and Time Will Salas
The movie In Time shows a world where people are genetically engineered with a specifically limited
amount of time to live. Digital clocks on their forearm show one chronological year, which begins
ticking down at age 25, while they physically stop aging at the same age. When your time expires, you
die instantly. In this world, time is the universal currency and everything you do requires and is
rewarded with time. There are two primary time zones, based on the wealth, or time owned, of its
population. Dayton, which is poor, and New Greenwich, the wealthiest. Will, a 28 year old factory
worker from poorer Dayton saves Henry, a time wealthy New Greenwich citizen, from an attempted
robbery and murder by a gang called the Minute Men. Once safe, Henry explains to Will the truth
behind wealth: there is enough time for everyone to live a long life, but New Greenwich citizens take
most of the time and store it so they can be immortal. To ensure their position, wealthier districts raise
the cost of living, impoverishing everyone else. Henry states: For a few to be immortal, many must
die. Henry gives sleeping Will most of his time, leaving a cryptic note: Don t waste my time. This
helps Will finally realizes what Henry meant all along, and was able to understand and comprehend
his private language and personal code philosophized as discussed by the philosopher Ludwig
Wittgenstein.

  • 2. Origins of Pilates and Joseph Pilates The paper focuses on the origin of the Pilates method of exercise. It also takes a step by step journey of Joseph Pilates (Joe) who was the founder of the Pilates method of exercise. Finally the paper will consider Pilates in the contemporary world. Pilates refers to a system of physical fitness that was established in the early 20th century. It was developed by Joseph Pilates. Joe was a German born in the year 1880. He suffered from rickets, rheumatic fever, and asthma during his childhood years. Because of the continuous suffering brought by the foregoing conditions, Joe was very week and he always felt vulnerable in a rough realm. This situation inspired him to embark on an enduring pursuit in a bid to gain health and the much needed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the same period, Joe began to work individually with some clients, similar to what trainers in the contemporary societies do in studios the world over (Robinson, 2002). His training became so popular that in the year 1925, he was invited to work as a trainer of the German army. However, Pilates was not content with the political stand that Germany was nurturing and he left Germany again. He moved to the United States and settled in the New York upon the commendations of some of his athlete and colleagues. He met a lady known as Clara while aboard a steamer on his way to New York. Clara was suffering from the symptoms of arthritis. Joe offered to cure her soreness through his devices and informed her of his dream of establishing a studio where he would carry out his work and develop his exercising methods further. Joe and Clara fell in love and soon after reaching New York they tied the knot. While in New York Joe continued to develop his methods of exercise and together with Clara, his wife, they established the very first Pilates studio in New York during the 1920s. For the following decades, Joe devoted himself to training other people in his methods routines, developing exercises, and use of apparatus. He also expressed his concepts in writing. He often considered himself as the ideal test for the rationality of his methods of exercise (Pilates, 2012). • 3. Niemann Pick Disease Essay Niemann Pick Disease Niemann Pick Disease is an autosomal recessive disease, passed down through carrier parents, where lipids gather in the cells of the spleen, liver, and brain creating an obstruction. There are four known forms of the disease, Type A, Type B, Type C, and Type D, in which Type A and B compose Type I and Type C and D make up Type II. Type A and B are a response to the lack of the enzyme acid sphingomyelinase(ASM) which metabolizes sphingomyelin. When there is an absence of sphingomyelinase the excess build up of sphingomyelin kills multiple cells stopping organ function. Symptoms of Type A include: abdominal swelling, redness in the eye, feeding difficulties, and loss of motor skills. Type A is the more severe of situations, not offering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If Type C symptoms are present before the age of 1 it is not likely that the child will live to be five, if symptoms arise during the school age it is possible that the child lives into their late teens, and in some cases into their twenties. Type D is a variant of Type C, and is caused by a mutation in the NPC2 gene, creating, an abnormality in the interaction between cholesterol and brain cells. Type C is often noticed affecting Puerto Ricans, while Type D is frequently observed to affect French Canadians. Type II is most commonly diagnosed with a skin biopsy, in which skin cells would be observed while in the process of moving and storing cholesterol. In Addition, other tests that may be performed are: bone marrow aspiration, a liver biopsy, slit lamp eye exam, and sphingomyelinase assays. Miglustat has been given as treatment for Type C patients to decelerate the nervous system symptoms, but there is no treatment yet for Type D. Due to the mutations in DNA of Type C it is probable that a fetus could be diagnosed while in the womb in specialized centers. Since both parents are carriers of this gene mutation, there is a 25% chance their child will have this disease, and a 50% chance the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Major Luston Short Story Major Luxon arrived, leading the Marines from the front; it was impressive to the Rowland family to see the Marine Commander on the road with his men. Major Luxon met with Mr. and Mrs. Luxon for about an hour. Mr. Rowland then asked the Major to follow him. Major Luxon shrugged and thought, why not? The two men headed out to one of the many barns on the property. Mr. Rowland swung open one of the doors, You think this will help you? Mr. Rowland asked Major Luxon. The barn was filled from top to bottom with wheat and corn. We had a bumper crop this year and it seems to be all going to waste, Mr. Rowland told the Major. I m not the one to make the decision Mr. Rowland; you would need to speak to Captain O Hara the base commander. I m sure he be more than happy to take it. With that said, why not ... In the meantime the NSWS will be taken on security for the area, Major Luxon responded. What s the NSWS? Mr. Rowland asked. Naval Special Weapons Sailors. We Marines took a bunch of them and trained them up like they were Marines. Once we had the first couple of classes trained and we evaluated them, they took over the training. They ve got two Battalions of them now; see that down the road there? Major Luxon pointed to the dust trail that had been getting closer and closer. Yes sir I see that, Mr. Rowland exclaimed. That would be First Battalion Naval Special Weapons coming for a visit, and tomorrow Second Battalion will be arriving. Why so many? We ve been ordered by Captain O Hara to expand our perimeters out; we need farm animals and horses for plowing, Major Luxon eyed Mr. Rowland hoping he would see where he was going with this conversation. • 5. Analysis Of The Movie The Ghost Of The Shell Trailer Since the beginning of media, producers have created products that applied to the biggest audience. Unreliable political and current event information and bias leads to underrepresentation of various ethnicities and identities. Mass media coverage portrays figures that appeals to the larger audience, hence, isolating others. The Ghost In The Shell trailer was released on Nov. 13 2016 and featured Scarlet Johansson a white actress. The film is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name. The protagonist, Major Kusanagi is simply referred to as The Major and erases the identity of the main character. And although I wasn t sure if it was going to resonate with him, I took him anyway. When Diego Luna s character came on screen and started speaking, my dad nudged me and said, he has a heavy accent. I was like, Yup. When the film was over and we were walking to the car, he turns to me and says, did you notice that he had an accent? And I said, Yeah dad, just like yours. Then my dad asked me if the film had made a lot of money. I told him it was the second highest grossing film of 2016 despite it only being out for 18 days in 2016 (since new year just came around). He then asked me if people liked the film, I told him that it had a huge following online and great reviews. He then asked me why Diego Luna hadn t changed his accent and I told him that Diego has openly talked about keeping his accent and how proud he is of it. And my dad was silent for a while and then he said, And he was a main character. And I said, He was. And my dad was so happy. As we drove home he started telling me about other Mexican actors that he thinks should be in movies in America. Representation matters. [9] Normalizing a diverse cast in film can often begin to gently lift the minority labels. From 2007 2012, only 12.4 percent of speaking characters in the top 500 grossing films were played by black actors. Equity And Equality For Students Equity and equality for students is all about enabling fairness and ensuring that all the students are given the best possible chance to succeed in life irrespective of their identities or backgrounds University of Birmingham (2015). In the course, we have learned that equity leads to success in academic institutions and should therefore be encouraged. We have also learned that diversity is about recognising, valuing and celebrating all the people from different backgrounds that live within our societies. It is about creating a universal environment that is inclusive of these differences, where we all feel welcome, valued and supported to succeed whatever our background or identity. Equity and fair treatments in schools should however not be perceived to be about minority rights . Rather, they should be viewed to cater for every situation in the learning environments and protects every student from discrimination on the basis of their age, disability, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, sex and sexual orientation. The miss conception has led to standardization of academic programs and the achievements that the students are expected to achieve, irrespective of their backgrounds and capabilities, which is actually counter productive. Comparing Macbeth And Goold s Play Macbeth, a play written by Shakespeare in 1606 is a tragedy surrounding a man Macbeth as he unknowingly seals his own fate due to his own excessive ambition and greed. This tragedy has since been taken to the big screen by many, one of which is director Rupert Goold. In 2010 Goold released a television film version of play on the BBC. Despite the differences between the two, the movie does effectively convey the overall message of the original story. In Goold s version, we see pivotal moments such as the breaking of Macbeth and Lady Macbeths bond. This moment is stressed just as much in the film as it is in the play because not only does it show the breaking of such a strong bond, but it also leads into another important moment in which Lady Macbeth is starting to get sort of delirious. The film also keeps up with the play and how it makes sure to highlight certain symbols and motifs such as blood and darkness through setting and lighting choice, special effects, staying true to the lines, etc. the director even goes as far as to reinforce death through a different motif (dead children). Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a daily basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who feel that we all live our own individual unique culture in our lives. However, being that culture is such a broad subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try and understand it based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of culture includes a system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes embodying these values, symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular definition of culture, the small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. One must understand the disease and its enormity on a global basis. Malaria is a protozoan disease of which over 150 million cases are reported per annum. In tropical Africa alone more than 1 million children under the age of fourteen die each year from Malaria. From these figures it is easy to see that eradication of this disease is of the utmost importance. Pseudo Code is important because it helps the programmer to define the logic before implementing the actual program. In such cases, the programmer can understand the problem and define all the possible solutions steps in completeness and also get it verified without the corresponding output defined. As Ron Gilbert (2006) stated, If you don t come in wanting to spend $10 or $15 million, it s like they don t take you seriously at some level, Publishers have historically looked down on lower budget games and this has caused problems in the current era of the games industry. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). Instead of definitive spheres of governance as Madison envisioned, over the years the US Federal Government has played an increasingly important role in state matters. Beyond changes in the balance of power between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This case established the precedent that the United States Federal Government could dictate the countries monetary policies. More importantly, during this period the supremacy of federal law over state law was established with the Nullification Crisis of 1832. The ensuing conflict established the precedent that the states did not have the right to judge the constitutionality of acts of Congress. It was not until the American Civil War and the resulting defeat of the Confederate States of America that the supremacy of the US Federal Government in legislative and economic matters was established. Between the conclusion of the American Civil War and the election of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the United States entered a period of definitive dual federalism. During this period fundamental governmental powers were shared between the federal and state governments, with the states exercising the most important powers (Lowi Ginsberg Shepsle Ansolabehere, 2010, p. 73). While the US Federal Government left a majority of the decision making up to the states, unlike before the Civil War, the supremacy of the Federal Government was no longer in question. Although the government did establish various national standards during this period, it did little to enforce compliance on the state level. For example, little was done to enforce the implementation of the 15th amendment at the state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Few technical schools were established and the secondary modern became the cinderellas of the education service despite providing for the majority of the school population. (Roger 1986: 3) This extract shows that new system didn t manage to reduce the social division it merely replaced it with a newer form of social division. The nature/nurture debate is neither unique nor particular to the 1944 Act, but it is something to be addressed. Nature, suggesting your intelligence is inherited from your parents and nurture, the belief that learning is affected by the home and the school environment. Relating the debate to the 1944 Act, brings to our attention the difference in education between social classes. The upper and middle class children would have definitely had advantage over the working class children, in terms of cognitive development, as their parents would have been well educated and able to pass on far greater knowledge. They also would have had better living conditions and quieter homes to concentrate on homework. The working class tended to have many children, shared bedrooms would have been common, which was not the ideal learning environment. The philanthropic aspects of the act were very much linked to the Second World War. The generally poor fitness standards of the working class recruits highlighted to the government that changes needed to be made. Free milk in schools, regular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Pros And Cons Of Supportive Reasoning supportive reasoning. Consider a unique scenario where fa , ga , hb, and Ib subjects are the stock of belief and thereby the belief of a=b aspect is assumed, as soon as one accepts the identity he/she automatically owes a justification to his/her supportive reasoning in relation to the contextual basis, the three variables are basically related and mutually interlinked. Frege does assume that, depending on the preposition expressed, the a=a expression is considered a priori while the second clause expression a=b is a posteriori. The aspect behind this is that the formulation of the expression is often considered by many as a petition principal to favor the perception that the sentences respectively express different propositions. It is possible to formulate and state Frege s puzzle in a better way without necessarily committing on either positive or negative side of the question or context, besides the formulation, the understanding of the puzzle doesn t necessarily involve two singular terms a and b, (Eros Jerome 2). In addition, the identity a=b can be contrasted into two uses to derive both informative and uninformative sentences, and the number of singular terms used doesn t matter. Lastly, being distinctive in the relevant notations of the original Frege s puzzle is likewise important: cognitive value, from the typical puzzle, a=b is informatively expressed contrary to a=a , cognitive content which is the part of information associated with the sentence subject, information content which is what an individual learns and perceive the case by simply understanding and thereafter accepting, in other words, it is the state which approves a sentence to be true and lastly semantic content which implies the entire meaning decoded from the sentence and the individual strictly respond to what the sentences basically expresses. Solution to Frege s puzzle Incorporation of a metalinguistic approach which is related to Milian view. This method is based on identity statements for instance Hesperus is Phosphorus are utterances that are related to language rather than the identity per the see. • 33. Review of Movies, In Time and Time Will Salas The movie In Time shows a world where people are genetically engineered with a specifically limited amount of time to live. Digital clocks on their forearm show one chronological year, which begins ticking down at age 25, while they physically stop aging at the same age. When your time expires, you die instantly. In this world, time is the universal currency and everything you do requires and is rewarded with time. There are two primary time zones, based on the wealth, or time owned, of its population. Dayton, which is poor, and New Greenwich, the wealthiest. Will, a 28 year old factory worker from poorer Dayton saves Henry, a time wealthy New Greenwich citizen, from an attempted robbery and murder by a gang called the Minute Men. Once safe, Henry explains to Will the truth behind wealth: there is enough time for everyone to live a long life, but New Greenwich citizens take most of the time and store it so they can be immortal. To ensure their position, wealthier districts raise the cost of living, impoverishing everyone else. Henry states: For a few to be immortal, many must die. Henry gives sleeping Will most of his time, leaving a cryptic note: Don t waste my time. This helps Will finally realizes what Henry meant all along, and was able to understand and comprehend his private language and personal code philosophized as discussed by the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein.
