The Cuisine Of Hokkaido, Japan
1.0 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
This report introduces the regional cuisine of Hokkaido, Japan. The food of Hokkaido is well known
worldwide because of its high quality and freshness of seafood. Hokkaido also produces dominant
amounts of Japan s meat, wheat and dairy so its cuisine is not just a thing entirely apart from the rest
of Japan s. There are many regional cuisine in Hokkaido including Genghis Khan barbecue, Hokkaido
ramen, Ishikari nabe and so on. Through my research, I find that there are many different cooking
methods that people in Hokkaido use. For example, originally, Genghis Khan barbecue only focuses
on burning and roast lamb and mutton. With more and more southern Japanese into Hokkaido, the
sauce and vegetables are gradually brought into the cuisine to adjust taste. I also find these cooking
methods are interesting, and would like to learn more about the Hokkaido cuisine.

1.2 History
Ancient people in Hokkaido are believed to catch salmon when they swam upstream. They are also
believed to use pots to cook acorn and plants. From 1603 to 1867, Russian and missions from other
countries arrived at Hokkaido but they were not allowed to enter. After 1869, the Meiji government
allowed people from other parts of Japan to immigrate to Hokkaido. These people brought their
different cuisine to Hokkaido. Under these influences, Hokkaido people developed their unique
cuisine by

Lily In Edith Wharton s The House Of Mirth
Lily is a complex character and has many weaknesses along with strengths. She desperately struggles
to be a part of society and can be quite manipulating at times. She uses her wits to try to achieve her
goal of marrying a rich husband and have means to permanently not live a dingy life, but a problem
exists this life does not make her happy. She still pursues her goal anyway and makes many terrible
mistakes including not marrying the man she loves and borrowing money. In the end, however, due to
a terrible rumor Lily ends up being excluded from society and eventually dies. Lily certainly makes
some wrong choices and puts her chance of happiness in the wrong goals, but does she really deserve
this fate? Despite her faults Lily, the protagonist in Edith Wharton s The House of Mirth, deserves
sympathy from the reader. While Lily does make many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the way they had been raised to unfortunate coincidences, ...all the conditions of life had
conspired to keep them apart... (305). The first seeds of tragedy became planted when Lily and Selden
had been children. Their parents raised them to believe in two completely different philosophies with
Selden despising money and Lily cherishing it. This contrast in philosophy becomes a major trouble
later on with Lily not being able to marry Selden due to her desire for money and being incapable of
living without it (162), and Selden judging Lily for her love of money. These differing views along
with society s judgment eventually cause the tragic ending. Both parties cannot entirely give up their
philosophies. When they finally do resolve their conflict, the time has already past. They also have
terrible timing as many other fated couples have. Just as Selden prepares to confront Lily about his
feelings for another time, he finds out that she has died. It took so long for Lily and Selden to finally
start talking to one another again that they had run out of

The Historical Significance Of Communism
How was communism significant?
During the late 1800s, communism has been a form of government that grew out to be successful
throughout time. There was about more than 12 countries who at some point turned communism
during this time. Which overall communism became one of the greatest impacts.
Throughout world history, communism has been practiced in some of the following countries, China,
Laos, North Korea, Vietnam, etc. Communism s significance comes from people s hardships during
the 19th century. But in order to understand more in depth we need to know where it originated from
and what is it exactly.
Origin?
Accordingly, it was founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Eagles. Marx and Engels felt like capitalism
needed to come to an end because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Communism in this case was the light at the end of the tunnel for those who were in lower class.
However, for the upper class it wasn t. Communism is the idea that everyone in a given society
receives equal shares of the benefits derived from labor This basically means that they are given the
same chance as those who have been given one. In this case, wealth was their main concern in order to
combat their main concpoverty. Therefore, middle class people come to the same life status as the
lower class and there was no longer discrimination. In addition communists believe that the state
should control their economic lives by owning and managing all or most industries They choose to do
this in order for a middle class or anyone owning a business to overpower the others. No one can
outdo anyone else by making more money (Alia Hoyt) Communism s solution was to reduce the
problems that were going on and give a hand to those in need.
What are the effects?
Furthermore communism has led to many effects. For example, things are handled drastically
differently from communism. Capitalism has more freedom and that s something communism wouldn
t want to intervene with. In communism some didn t even have the motivation to become someone
with a good career if they won t be rewarded for it. Another effects was that the Holocaust began in
1933. Genocide happened around where they were mainly getting rid of Jews and others. In order to
monitor them as they would put anyone who opposed Nazis in the concentration camps.

The Poem ‘Mother To Son’ By Langston Hughes First Published
The poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes first published in 1922 and The Road not Taken by
Robert Frost have a number of similarities. These poems are parables in which experienced people
give advice about life choices. In both poems, the personas were initially in some trouble in life but
they currently have no remorse for the way they made choices and lived. Also, both poems have a
moral lesson that life may not always be easy but at the end, the choices that people make will
determine their destiny. However, the poems are considerably different in their writing style, diction,
the point of view, tone and imagery. This essay aims to compare and contrast the two poems. Though
having similarities in the theme and use of symbolism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He, however, chose the road that was less favorable to people. This road represents a road of hard
work or integrity since majority of people love short cuts to life. In the end, the speaker is not only
relieved but also proud that he took that road. He says I shall be telling this with a sigh (Frost 16). The
reason for him telling the story is to give advice because he is proud of the decision that he made.
Also, Hughes and Frost both use symbolism and imagery to bring out the picture about life. For
Hughes, the stairs symbolize the life life that has been lived through pressing on because of the
difficulties and uncertainties involved. The mother symbolizes the old generation of people who are
experienced and their role in giving advice. The old generation is familiar with life challenges that the
younger generation, symbolized by the son, are undergoing. They provide hope for the young
generation. The dark corners without light symbolize times of uncertainties, the corner symbolizes
changes experienced in life, and the climbing symbolizes difficult situations requiring extra effort and
so on. Reading through the poem a person can easily picture the life that the speaker lived.
Conversely, Frost also uses symbolism in his poem. The divergent roads that emerge as the persona is
traveling symbolize a dilemma in life. The persona needed to make a tough choice in life for it was
impossible to live a double life.

Speech About Beauty Pageants
Hey Jeni, you don t stand a chance in this Selection. I heard Anndrea joined and she has been
competing in beauty pageants since she was five years old. As I sat down in my usual spot, Leo
mentioned for me to come over and sit next to him and his group of friends. I ve heard some rumors
going on that you are submitting an application for the Selection. You better think again. You re never
gonna make it. Look at all these girls sitting around us right now; all the popular girls, they want it just
as bad as you. Let this be a warning to you, if you don t get into the Selection and have to come back
to school, you will become a nobody, a ghost, someone no one will know. Just remember my words,
Leo called, loud enough for the whole cafe to hear. The whole cafe erupted into a sudden burst of
laughter.
Hey Stargirl, Leo s right, you don t stand a chance compared to me. Prince Maxon would hate your
ugly jeans right now and your disgusting shirt, Anndrea s booming voice was even heard with all the
chaotic laughter. I could win, I could show the whole entire school who I am, Susan Caraway, no need
for Stargirl. I ll show that Anndrea who she s really dealing with. Get up and get dressed. We have a
big day coming up. We need to go to the town square to submit your headshot today. Tonight on the

Sylvia Getm Improving Presentation Skills
Information can be shared and communicated in a variety of ways. Public speaking and formal
presentations are common methods of communication that any leader will need to master regardless of
their profession. There are times when it can be difficult to stay away during a presentation. However,
a dynamic speaker can keep the audience engaged and interested in the information being shared.
Improving presentation style is achievable with the right amount of planning, organizing, and by
getting to know your audience. Observing other presenters is another great way to improve personal
presentation skills.
Sylvia Getman, former Chief Executive Officer at The Aroostook Medical Center, is a fantastic public
speaker and a person worth emulating. There are many positive attributes that make Sylvia a great
speaker. She is a great story teller with a talent for personalizing the material in a way that unites her
with the audience. The most crucial part of a presentation is the introduction (Haynes, 2016, p. 119).
Recently, when presenting at a local hospital, Sylvia began by sharing a childhood memory of
vacationing to Maine with her family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

begin using the audience analysis worksheet provided in the textbook (Haynes, 2016, pp. 144 146).
This advance planning will allow me to be better prepared for the larger group presentations. Allowing
more time for practice and rehearsals will also allow for a more fluid presentation and perhaps even

The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence
In her novel The Stone Angel, Margaret Laurence uses the stone angel monument to embody the
qualities of Hagar . Over the course of the novel, Hagar reflects back on the memories that have made
up her life. Hagar s loneliness and depression are self induced and brought on by her pride, lack of
emotion, stubbornness and the ignorance which she has towards anyone s opinion but her own. The
qualities of Hagar are identical with those possessed by the stone angel monument and paralleled by
Laurence many times throughout the novel. The angel was certainly not a suitable statue to mark the
death of Mrs. Currie as it was uncharacteristic of her. The statue of the angel is a more fitting
representation of Hagar s father Jason Currie and hence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When her son John dies she does not weep, almost as if she was made of stone. The night my son died
I was transformed to stone and never wept at all. (Laurence 243) Hagar believed if she cried it would
damage her pride and make her appear weak. She would simply not have people think that. I wouldn t
cry in front of strangers, whatever it cost me. (Laurence 242) Hagar makes love to Bram and never
lets him know that she enjoyed it. He never knew. I never let him know. I never spoke aloud, and I
made certain the trembling was all inner. (Laurence 81) She could never allow others to know how she
felt. Hagar remained emotionless throughout her life. When Bram dies Hagar does not even dare to
shed a tear. But when we d bury Bram and come home again and lighted lamps for the evening, it was
John who cried, not I. (Laurence 184) In many ways Hagar s passionless life was identical to that of
the Angel; it never shed a tear, rarely did she. Her inability to express emotion led to her relentless
ignorance of others and their opinions.
Hagar Shipley is a very stubborn woman at the age of ninety. She is very set in her ways, and does not
appreciate being told what to do. The most prominent sign of this stubbornness is when Hagar is
brought to Silverthreads nursing home to view this location. Upon this discovery Hagar attempts to
run away, only to find herself lost in a forest. The

Motivated During Winter
3 Tips to Stay Motivated During Winter During winter, many struggle to sustain the fitness that they
worked so hard to obtain when the weather was warm. Cold temperatures, rain, and daylight savings
are the common factors ruining cyclists motivation to train. However there are ways to still sustain a
high fitness level, even through bad weather. On cold winter mornings, the temptation of sleeping
through your alarm to stay warm in the comfort of your bed is often too much. A good way to force
yourself to get out of bed on these mornings is to have organised a ride with a friend. That way you
will have to get out of bed unless you want to abandon your mate. Indoor trainers are very helpful to

Eclectic Spirituality
Eclectic spirituality is difficult to define, in fact we have to define each word individually. The
definition of eclectic is, selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles
(Merriam Webster, 2015). The definition of spirituality is, the quality or state of being concerned with
religion or religious matters: the quality or state of being spiritual (Merriam Webster, 2015). When we
learn about eclectic spirituality, and that most people are no longer grounded in one particular religion,
however they still claim to be spiritual, the phrase, Spiritual but not religious (Sacramento Bee
McEntyre, M, 2015) makes sense.
While this is the first time, I personally have ever heard of the term eclectic spirituality (apparently, I
live a sheltered life), however its origins are said to have begun during the nineteenth century during
the romanticism movement. The romanticism movement, questioned the doctrine and religious beliefs
from the enlightenment period, as they chose to exalt their dreams, feelings, and mystical experiences.
I believe that the ever changing worldview makes it easier for people to embrace this eclectic
spirituality. Our worldview continues to change as society adapts to such things, as changes in

Designing Spaces Made For A Space
As designers our role is to make a space not only aesthetically pleasing but functional. However
countless spaces to this day do not function properly because every person who enters it cannot use it.
Accessibility is often not considered in many interior space designs, which excludes people with
difficulties of mobility, vision, hearing, or dexterity. This exclusion or added difficulty means the
design has failed. As we have continued to learn about human factors with a focus on accessibility, I
have now looked at how I should design much differently. I am not thinking how would I like it , I am
now thinking how could everyone use this . Universal design is of utmost importance and as designers
we have a duty to ensure everyone that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example weakness, arthritis or low stamina, adding the wheelchair radius of 1700 mm eliminates
more of the complications. The next design feature and ergonomic consideration for the Assisted
Living Centre was an accessible two level reception desk. This design can and should be a feature that
comes with all reception desks. Having a two level reception desk allows people to either be served
standing, or served in a wheelchair. It also ensures children to be seen and helped. Having an obstacle
free desk where a wheelchair can fit underneath so the person can seek the assistance they need is
optimal universal design. There was also a lot of thought that went into the flooring choices for not
only the common areas but the retirement suites. Dealing with seniors there is a higher concern for
falls or slips. Choosing a floor that allowed a wheelchair or walker to pass over it as well provide
traction and grip was a must. There also had to be considerations of the hardness of the floor to
eliminate any chance of injury steering clear of unforgiving hardwoods was the decision that had to be
made. Flooring can be aesthetically pleasing as well contribute to the safety and ease of use in a space.
That is why taking these anthropometric considerations and adding them to our studio designs created
a more successful and accessible space. While in a space you should feel good, and that is where

Measuring Academic Procrastination in Australian...
Procrastination is an important individual difference construct that affects many areas of life, from
health care (delaying important medical visits or exercise) to finance (dealing with financial troubles
like credit card debt), to academic arenas. Procrastination, has been defined as the act of needlessly
delaying tasks to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort or putting off that which is necessary
to reach some goal (Lay, 1986, p474). Procrastination has been associated with maladaptive
behaviours and outcomes including anxiety, depression, stress, illness and low self efficacy
(Schouwenburg, 1995; Klassen, 2008). Academic procrastination, a unique form of procrastination,
has had minimal research compared to other psychological constructs. And as far as the author is
aware there has been no research on academic procrastination in the Australian University context. A
reliable scale measuring academic procrastination in Australian undergraduate students is needed for
the purpose of research in to theoretical foundations of academic procrastination, who procrastinates,
the reasons why, the implications, and so as to advance understanding of this construct. In a meta
analytic and theoretical review of procrastination, it was estimated that between 80 95% of
undergraduates experience problematic academic procrastination, with up to 30% experiencing severe
procrastination (Steel, 2007). Considering the effect of procrastination on the general, work and

Differences Between Love Canal And Chernobyl
Love Canal and Chernobyl are two different environmental disasters that share many similarities, yet
have their differences too. Love canal is located in Niagara Falls, New York and is the site of a seventy
acre landfill. This landfill caused a major environmental pollution disaster that affected hundreds of
people. Toxic waste began to invade homes, backyards, and playgrounds. Two hundred and forty eight
different chemicals were found buried beneath this community. Eight hundred families had to relocate.
(Softschools.com). Chernobyl is located in Ukraine, this natural disaster was the explosion of reactor
number four, and occurred while under maintenance check. This explosion let out two hundred times
the amount of radiation than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Seven Million people were affected, and three
hundred and fifty thousand people were forced out of their homes and relocated. This explosion
damaged sixty three thousand square miles of land (friendsofchernobyl.org). It is important to realize
although differences are present, both Love Canal and Chernobyl had similar effects on humans and
the land. Many people suffered from these disasters, and had to change their lifestyles because of the
effects done to the land.
Chernobyl and Love Canal both had many negative effects on humans and the land near these places.

The Use Of Motifs In The Bean Trees
Written by Barbara Kingsolver, The Bean Trees contains characters who demonstrate how living
creatures are able to find methods of growing and transforming, despite unusual arrangements or
lifestyle. Throughout the novel, in the chapters The One to Get Away and Dream Angels the use of
motifs are greatly emphasized. Rebirth is one of the two important motifs, as the pattern of life and
death is repeated in the novel. Frequently, this theme is connected with dualities: when one member of
a pair passes, the other gains life force. Newt Hardbine represents as some sort of double for Taylor, in
the chapter The One to Get Away . For example, in school, people could barely tell them different

The dried up seed that, once buried, becomes a living thing, symbolizes her own life experience. For
instance, the night blooming cereus that Edna Poppy brings, which appears up on page 240, to Taylor
and Lou Ann before Taylor makes her trip to Oklahoma serves as an indicator, representing the
transient quality to the characters chances. The wisteria vines speak to the cooperative connections
that predominant the novel, and most importantly, the development of bean trees speaks to the
development of Turtle Greer and her development all through the novel. Bean, (128) Turtle s first
word, symbolizes the guarantee that, similar to a dried up seed that grows, an emotionally or
physically wounded woman may flourish if sufficiently given consideration. The bean trees, another
name for the wisteria vine that Turtle spots in Dog Doo Park, symbolize change, a spot of life amidst
infertility. The bean trees have a cooperative association with bugs called rhizobia, which climb up
and down the wisteria vine s roots and give a system that transfer nutrients. This mutual aid
symbolizes the assistance and adoration individuals give each other. The bean trees, similar to
individuals, thrive with a system of support. Taylor s interest with seeds and vegetables is also an
example of of the cycle of eternal rest and new

The True Meaning Of Being Happy
What is happiness? What does it mean to be happy? Is happiness real? These questions are the most
frequently asked questions that most people ask themselves. By definition, being happy is when
something is feeling or showing pleasure or contentment. But, what is the true meaning of being
happy? Many people view happiness in many different aspects. Pharrell Williams s song Happy did
just that. It tells people that they don t have to seek hard to be happy. It is within one s self. Unlike
most songs, there is no hidden message. The message is very clear. It is about maintaining a positive
state of mind despite how bad and sometimes heartbreaking events in life can be. When you think

chorus begins with the lines Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof, Clap along if you feel
like happiness is the truth. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you, Clap along if you feel
like that s what you wanna do. Here, Pharrell s narrator is to remind the listener to continue to be
happy no matter what. Also, you have no limits so live it up. What s happiness if you re going to
experience it with limitations? Now, we ve reached the second verse. Pharrell continues to give us
more tips on staying happy. Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah. Well, give me all you got,

Vashtivity In E. M. Forster s The Machine Stops
Fading into Darkness
E.M. Forster s, The Machine Stops, is a short story which aims to show us how man s creativity and
his ability to think in general, while necessary for survival, could lead to his downfall. In this story we
are introduced to a civilization in which life on Earth has been almost completely erased abandoned
for one in the Machine, underneath the surface. We experience this civilization through the eyes of the
main characters, Vashti and her son Kuno. Vashti has adapted to life in the machine, accepting things
the way they are; relinquishing her self reliance in full trust of the Machine. While, Kuno the rebel
who longs to see the world above, fights against societal norms, as he not only comes up with his own
ideas, but also questions the Machine, which others see as their god. In this overly exaggerated ...

From the time that we are children our minds run wild, and some of us have an imagination that has a
flare of ingenuity. From my perspective as technology advances, creativity decreases. As a child
growing up my life was scarcely affected technology. In my village the chances that a child would
have a Gameboy were rare and cell phones were somewhat of a luxury for most adults. The beauty in
not having much technology was that it required children to be imaginative to find ways to entertain
themselves. Unlike Vashti of who the question has she had any ideas lately? Might one tell her one s
own ideas? (pg111) is asked rather indifferently, we would have been very bored as kids if we did not
come up with new ideas regularly. In E.M. Forster s civilization people have no problem with
repetition and commonality. While most people have adapted to life as it is, Kuno realizes that life as
it is, is dependent on the Machine, and the people living in the Machine are less alive than the

Crime Against Humanity
A crime against humanity is widespread or systematic attacks against a civilian population. Crimes
against humanity is a problem that has repeated itself through history and is still occurring in the
present world today. How countries, that are in a place of power, should or should not respond to these
crimes is a controversial issue that numerous people differ on opinion. Some argue that nations should
act according to their own national interest and do what is best for their country, including not doing
anything at all. Other s have a belief in which countries that are in a place to intervene should do so.
This could be with a forceful militaristic approach. Any crime against humanity should not be
tolerated in this view. Another opinion is that in crisis situations, a collective effort by an international
community, such as the United Nations, should be the people who respond and resolve the conflict.
This takes out individualizing countries, and creates an international effort. Over the course of history
many diverse actions have been taken in response to a crime against humanity. Some examples as to
why an international community or a country should intervene with full force and right away are
through the Ukraine Famine, the Rwandan Genocide, and the Armenian Genocide.
What is known as the Ukraine Famine was a crisis in which no outside force responded to help the
Ukrainians. When Stalin rose to power as the leader of the Soviet Union, one of his first actions was to

Lindsay Lohan
Over my time spent learning about Lohan, I have learned quite a bit about her actions and her
behaviors that lead her to her choices. According to TMZ s (2011) biography on Lindsay, she started
acting when she was ten years of age. This throws her into a very stressful and fast paced lifestyle at a
very young age, which leaves her extremely susceptible to find ways to help control her stress. The
massive amounts of attention from her fans, puts a tremendous burden on her.
Later on in her career, in 2007 she received two DUI s, one ending in an accident. She has had been
admitted to rehab on three separate occasions. The first time she was admitted to Promises in Malibu

In Axis II, she shows many symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder, which is characterized by a
lack of one s own identity, with rapid changes in mood, intense unstable interpersonal relationships,
marked impulsively, instability in affect, and instability in self image. Which would also explain the
impulsive drug use and theft. All of the drug abuse leads to many General Medical Conditions in Axis
III. In Axis IV the best that fit her is Problems related to interaction with the legal system. In Axis VI,
I have come to the conclusion that she falls under the classification of the range of 61 70; this means
she has some mild symptoms, depressed mood, mild insomnia, and difficulty in social occupational
functioning. All of these combined Axis s explain her behavior and can enlighten us on many aspects
that define her as a person with some personality and substance related illnesses.
Explanation
The lifestyle incorporated with being a famous actress and singer, it appears that they have the high
life, but it is obviously more stressful than portrayed. In a recent occurrence, Lohan was dealing with a
stalker that was close to being violent towards her. To the public she appears like a drug addict and
mentally ill . In my opinion she is just mislead. She is being held hostage by her environment and
lifestyle. She is dealing with social rejection, with her so called friends . Her friends are

Analysis Of Ben Jonson s The Beloved Son
Ben Jonson brings forth a memorable poem he has written in memoir to his beloved son, whom he lost
at a young age. He begins this poem with a goodbye, which entitles him to feel responsible in some
way towards this son s death. The speaker in this poem seems to be Johnson himself, considering his
writing is deep and truthful which connects to his own feelings. The form of the poem is written in
iambic pentameter, as a farewell to his beloved young son who died of a bubonic plague. Jonson s
poem reaches new levels as he prepares himself to create a poem off his track of style, however,
through love, envy and mourning, the author comes to a satisfying conclusion that he will no longer
fall in love with something so fragile.
In this particular poem, there are five groups, which are labeled as a foot: in each of these there is an
unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable, which makes a pair of iamb s.
As what he loves may never like too much.
Perfectly exemplified, line 12 of the poem expressed the use of iambic pentameter as what he loves
may ne ver like too much . The first foot begins with an unstressed syllable, what followed by loves
which is the stressed syllable. In line three, Jonson stumbles a little as he addresses the loss of his son
and he is off the pattern of the iambic pentameter.
Seven years thou wert lent to me, and I thee pay
It is the first time he deals directly with losing his son, as he explains in great detail without giving too

Descriptive Essay On Strawberry Park
My childhood was filled with adventures of Kansas City, my grandmother was always provoking new
experiences and understanding of the world around us. Naturally, I knew the perfect person to
accompany me along this adventure. The site that was selected for this review was the historic ethnic
neighborhood known as Strawberry Hill. Unfortunately, The Strawberry Hill Museum and Cultural
Center is only open on weekends, at an almost impossible times for me to attend. Although, on this
adventure the most amazing event occurred. Saddened by the change in holiday museum hours, my
grandmother and I began walking away, until one of the museum staff members popped out to ask if
we needed any assistance. She was full of wonderful historical insight. There is so much rich history
within this neighborhood, and such a special find in Kansas City. The staff member encouraged us to
further explore the neighborhood, and research the webpage that is chalked full of information of the
history. I will incorporate some photos take on this adventure, while connecting the research I have
conducted with my experience of the site. Strawberry Hill is located off of fourth street near the
riverfront in Kansas City, Kansas. As expected, being located near the river the neighborhood is facing
much of our industrial sector. While standing on the porch of the Museum, looking out highways and
industrial companies make up the panoramic view. According to the website published by the

Analysis Of Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
As children the formalities posed upon us that our parents are with us since birth and to a certain
extent they will always be with us even when we part home. Our parents serve us are the sole
providers until we are able to fend for ourselves, when we part we look for them in times of need. We
seek them when we are sadden by a misfortunate casualty, not obtaining the raise at work one hoped
for or not being able to purchase the house you had been planning to live on. They are there in
moments of transition, moments of change to sooth us with a comforting pat in the back or a graceful
hug for the greater achievements in our lives like marrying your significant other. But what happens
when we decide to leave our parents nest with the mindset of no return, where do we find comfort in
times of change, who will be there? That is the transition the protagonist in the novel Siddhartha by
Hermann Hesse decides to make when he leaves the comfort of his home and finds comfort in the
flow of the river.
Just as our parents are with us since birth the river was with Siddhartha. The river was with him since
a young boy in the sunshine on the river bank by the boats... Siddhartha, the handsome Brahmin s son,
grew up with his friend Govinda (3). The river wasn t just part of his childhood but it played a
significant role in his religion. As the river was part of his morning holy ablutions (3) it served as the
proxy to his daily purification. Siddhartha s early exposure set up his

The Movie Boondock Saints
The Boondock Saints Report
That our feet may swiftly carry out thy command so we shall flow the river forth to thee, and teeming
with souls shall it ever be . Forbidden to be repeated by anyone who is not a McManus, Connor and
Murphy allow the family prayer to roll off their tongues, and journey into the ears of the monstrous
souls they are about to exterminate. Their religious belief nourishes the idea that they can make the
streets of Boston good. The Boondock Saints is a movie about religion, family, and vigilante justice.
In the movie the killing started out with just Connor and Murphy, but their best friend Rocco begged
to be apart of the Boston action. From the beginning, Paul Smeckler was trying to figure out who was
committing all the murders in Boston. Until he found Rocco s finger at a crime scene, and had come to
a conclusion that he knew who the Saints were. Confused as to why they were committing these
crimes, Smeckler went to a church and talked to a priest, where he realized that the saints were only
killing to make the city pure. Always able to circumvent every crime, the three of them (Rocco,
Connor, and Murphy) were handcuffed to chairs, where one of Guiseppe Yakavetta s (the man they
have been after the whole movie) workers shot and killed Rocco. Connor and Murphy were filled with
rage and anger, but it was necessary to have a proper goodbye. Joining in on the family prayer an
unfamiliar face popped in the room who ended up to be their father Il Duce; who joins the both of
them in killing Guiseppe in the courtroom at the end of the movie. In one of the scenes of the movie,
Connor and Murphy were struggling their way through a vent. Traveling through the vent was so
difficult because Connor demanded that they needed a rope. Constantly going back and forth fighting,
the vent gives and falling down, the twins get tangled up in the rope. With a few seconds to think they
break free their hands and shoot around the room killing all the Russians. The both of them gathered
all the bodies that they killed, crossed the arms, and placed pennies on each of the mens eyes.
Placing the pennies over the Russian s eyes symbolizes a religious act done in many parts of the
movie; every time the twins would

  • 2. The Cuisine Of Hokkaido, Japan 1.0 Introduction 1.1 Introduction This report introduces the regional cuisine of Hokkaido, Japan. The food of Hokkaido is well known worldwide because of its high quality and freshness of seafood. Hokkaido also produces dominant amounts of Japan s meat, wheat and dairy so its cuisine is not just a thing entirely apart from the rest of Japan s. There are many regional cuisine in Hokkaido including Genghis Khan barbecue, Hokkaido ramen, Ishikari nabe and so on. Through my research, I find that there are many different cooking methods that people in Hokkaido use. For example, originally, Genghis Khan barbecue only focuses on burning and roast lamb and mutton. With more and more southern Japanese into Hokkaido, the sauce and vegetables are gradually brought into the cuisine to adjust taste. The Poem ‘Mother To Son’ By Langston Hughes First Published The poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes first published in 1922 and The Road not Taken by Robert Frost have a number of similarities. For Hughes, the stairs symbolize the life life that has been lived through pressing on because of the difficulties and uncertainties involved. The mother symbolizes the old generation of people who are experienced and their role in giving advice. The old generation is familiar with life challenges that the younger generation, symbolized by the son, are undergoing. They provide hope for the young generation. The dark corners without light symbolize times of uncertainties, the corner symbolizes changes experienced in life, and the climbing symbolizes difficult situations requiring extra effort and so on. Other s have a belief in which countries that are in a place to intervene should do so. This could be with a forceful militaristic approach. Any crime against humanity should not be tolerated in this view. Another opinion is that in crisis situations, a collective effort by an international community, such as the United Nations, should be the people who respond and resolve the conflict. This takes out individualizing countries, and creates an international effort. Over the course of history many diverse actions have been taken in response to a crime against humanity. Some examples as to why an international community or a country should intervene with full force and right away are through the Ukraine Famine, the Rwandan Genocide, and the Armenian Genocide. What is known as the Ukraine Famine was a crisis in which no outside force responded to help the Ukrainians. When Stalin rose to power as the leader of the Soviet Union, one of his first actions was to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Analysis Of Ben Jonson s The Beloved Son Ben Jonson brings forth a memorable poem he has written in memoir to his beloved son, whom he lost at a young age. He begins this poem with a goodbye, which entitles him to feel responsible in some way towards this son s death. The speaker in this poem seems to be Johnson himself, considering his writing is deep and truthful which connects to his own feelings. The form of the poem is written in iambic pentameter, as a farewell to his beloved young son who died of a bubonic plague. Jonson s poem reaches new levels as he prepares himself to create a poem off his track of style, however, through love, envy and mourning, the author comes to a satisfying conclusion that he will no longer fall in love with something so fragile. In this particular poem, there are five groups, which are labeled as a foot: in each of these there is an unstressed syllable followed by a stressed syllable, which makes a pair of iamb s. As what he loves may never like too much. Perfectly exemplified, line 12 of the poem expressed the use of iambic pentameter as what he loves may ne ver like too much . The first foot begins with an unstressed syllable, what followed by loves which is the stressed syllable. In line three, Jonson stumbles a little as he addresses the loss of his son and he is off the pattern of the iambic pentameter. Seven years thou wert lent to me, and I thee pay It is the first time he deals directly with losing his son, as he explains in great detail without giving too many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Movie Boondock Saints The Boondock Saints Report That our feet may swiftly carry out thy command so we shall flow the river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be . Forbidden to be repeated by anyone who is not a McManus, Connor and Murphy allow the family prayer to roll off their tongues, and journey into the ears of the monstrous souls they are about to exterminate. Their religious belief nourishes the idea that they can make the streets of Boston good. The Boondock Saints is a movie about religion, family, and vigilante justice. In the movie the killing started out with just Connor and Murphy, but their best friend Rocco begged to be apart of the Boston action. From the beginning, Paul Smeckler was trying to figure out who was committing all the murders in Boston. Until he found Rocco s finger at a crime scene, and had come to a conclusion that he knew who the Saints were. Confused as to why they were committing these crimes, Smeckler went to a church and talked to a priest, where he realized that the saints were only killing to make the city pure. Always able to circumvent every crime, the three of them (Rocco, Connor, and Murphy) were handcuffed to chairs, where one of Guiseppe Yakavetta s (the man they have been after the whole movie) workers shot and killed Rocco. Connor and Murphy were filled with rage and anger, but it was necessary to have a proper goodbye. Joining in on the family prayer an unfamiliar face popped in the room who ended up to be their father Il Duce; who joins the both of them in killing Guiseppe in the courtroom at the end of the movie. In one of the scenes of the movie, Connor and Murphy were struggling their way through a vent. Traveling through the vent was so difficult because Connor demanded that they needed a rope. Constantly going back and forth fighting, the vent gives and falling down, the twins get tangled up in the rope. With a few seconds to think they break free their hands and shoot around the room killing all the Russians. The both of them gathered all the bodies that they killed, crossed the arms, and placed pennies on each of the mens eyes.
